I purchased a jm star or shanghai motors expressway 250 scooter, this has been re-badged in the us as a redstreak expressway 250 on july 14th, 2007.after riding this scooter on july 21st and stopping at a gas station to refuel, the scooter would not restart.we had it jump started to get home, but this didn't work too well.the scooter stalled out while driving down the road.it did start again with another jump start but spit and sputtered the rest of the way home.we called the dealer who sold us the scooter, he stated that they have been having problems with the batteries.so we purchased a new battery and charged it up.the technician at the shop where we purchased the scooter also mentioned that the alarms were a draw on the system and that they have been removing the alarms.he explained over the phone to my husband how to remove the alarm.the weekend of august 10th, i was riding my scooter and we stopped to get ice cream at a place locally.when i went to start my scooter it was dead again and did not start.we got it jump started and rode it directly home.we brought the scooter to the dealer who sold it to us on august 15th, they determined they thought it was a charging problem.they ordered a stator for the scooter.the stator arrived and the dealer did not have the correct tools to remove this part.the tool was ordered and received at the dealership, the problem was still not fixed.the voltage regulator was also replaced while there.the technician said all of the problems were fixed and we rode it home after being in repair for 25 days. I rode the scooter for 2 days, and on the 2nd day it did not start again.**** please note this website does not allow me to pick the correct vehicle make or model, therefore the vehicle description is not correct, please refer to the top of this description for the correct make and model *****

During normal operation, a component called a "chain slider" failed due to abrasive wear after 11807 kilometers (approximately 7400 miles). Subsequently, the part came free from it's mounting and lodged in the drive sprocket of my 2007 kymco venox 250 cc motorcycle, causing the rear wheel to lock up during operation. Fortunately i was operating the motorcycle at low speed and avoided a crash. I purchased a replacement part, and upon examination i realized that this part will also fail catastrophically during operation. The fragments of the failed part are available for examination.
My brand new 2007 kymco people 150 scooter malfunctioned while i was at a dead stop.as i was holding it upright and reaching to turn off the ignition via the key with my right hand, the engine sporadically revved up in rpms.this engaged the drive to the rear wheel and the scooter accelerated out from underneath me.this caused the scooter to lurch forward into a wall at the place where i was in the process of parking it.as i tried to maintain control of the scooter it caused me injury to my hand which was on the handlebars.the handlebar and my hand came into contact with the wall.the scooter dealer where i purchased the scooter inspected it for possible reasons or explanations for the malfunction and were not able to determine its cause.i am in the process of having the scooter repaired.i will also file this malfunction with kymco for their advice and their recommendations.i am seeking reimbursement for the damage done to the scooter as a result of this malfunction.
