The contact owns a 2005 kia sportage. While driving approximately 40 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (kia of mccomb in mccomb, ms, 601-250-1005) where it was diagnosed that the seat belt was faulty. The dealer referred the contact to nhtsa. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact also received the settlement notice from tk holdings, inc. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

My airbag light went on july 16 2016. I took the car to sussman kia in jenkintown pa.to check light. I was told it is a faulty seat belt .the air bag may not deploy properly. I was told to replace the seat bely assembly $715.25. The work order invoice #52875--20 july 2016.should this not be a recall item for safety by kia motors?

Air bag light stays on!took the car to my mechanic to "fix it" for $72, and only two weeks later, the light went on again.i was told to pull on and jiggle the passengers seat belt to make it go off, however, that doesn't work.do i want to spend another $72 to "fix it"?the cost to replace the sensor would be approximately $435.when the air bag light is illuminated, the big risk is that the air bags will not respond in an accident.

2005 kia ex care accident mother hit by drunk driver on driver side door causing head injury concussion. Side airbag and curtain did not deploy. This can cause long term effects and she is currently unable to work.

Air bag light came on and has remained on every since.no accidents involved.based on another complaint i seen, must be a factory fault.

I was involved in 2 low impact crashes with this kia sportage 2005 model.one was a rear end collision at 20 mph and the other i was hit from the side in a parking lot.both times the other driver drove away without damage.i suffered 3500 dollars worth of damage from the first incident and 7500 from the second.the vehicle wasnot drivable both times.airbags never deployed.i am very concerned as are other individuals who witnessed the incidents that if the speed had been any greater the personal injury would have been great.i have never had a vehicle sustain so much damage from what should have been fender benders.

My 2005 kia sportage was hit on the drivers side during an auto accident.neither airbag on the drivers side deployed.

This complaint is about the 2005 kia . First the airbag light has come on and has been on for the last three to five years, the auto mechanic that i use at first said that it was just the light indicator and was not problematic except that the light was on but now is saying that since the light is on the airbag may not deploy , and that of course is a big problem. Secondly, when filling the gas tank and when completed the car stalls several times before starting, problem does not occur again until the next refill. Third reoccurring problem is that one of the rear brake lights short out on a reoccurring basis.

2005 kia sportage t-bone crash and the side seat and curtain airbags failed to deploy causing severe head concussion and neck back injuries. Product liability/defective kia srs system.

The contact owns a 2005 kia sportage. The contact stated that the air bag lights illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat belt buckle failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

Air bag light on continually.no accident or deployment.

It started in january 2007 while trying to make a left hand turn the car just died without any notice. Although you can put it in neutral and re-start it, it can turn right around as you make your turn and die again. As coming to a stop light or stop sign it will die without even coming to a complete stop. Just slowing down it will die. The rpm's will rev up when you let up off the gas or sometimes when you press the brakes the rpm's will rev up. When sitting at an idle the rpm's will drop way down to 500 and bounce up and down. Have had it in the shop 4 times and they say " it didn't die on us" or " we couldn't find anything wrong". It is at the shop right now june 2008. This is an often occurrence.

Vehicle started to shift improperly and the engine "revved" itself while in park with the air conditioning on. A week or so later, car lost power while trying to park without warning. Taken to the dealership who found nothing wrong using the computer. Car continued to do this for over a month, withno pattern, taken back to the dealership who once again gave the vehicle back and said there is nothing wrong. I find this to be a serious problem since it turns off while stopping and or turning.

Wiring harness plugs joining at resistor & blower motor are melted.

The contact owns a 2005 kia sportage. The contact stated that there was an abnormal burning odor and she observed smoke emitting from the vehicle.the contact stated that a wire inside the vehicle on the passenger side caught fire. The contact extinguished the fire with her hands and disconnected the wire. The vehicle was then taken to a local repair shop where she was advised that the blower resistor was the cause of the failure and he separated the wires to remedy the problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The current and failure mileages were approximately 54,000.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicleintermittently stalled at various speeds without warning.after each incident, the vehicle restarted.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they were unable to determine the cause of the problem.the computer was reprogrammed, but the problem persisted.

While finding a parking spot my vehicle lost power and suddenly quit. After restarting it, i found a parking spot and just before the vehicle was put in park, it stalled again. Apon leaving to go home, a 10 mile trip, each time i came to a stop the vehicle stalled on me an additional 5 times. This is not the first intance of this problem. We have had this vehicle in the shop previously four other times. Each time saying that it was due to a loose air intake valve. I actually almost have panic attacks now when coming to a stop on a busy intersection for fear my vehicle is going to stall and i am going to be involved in an accident. I will be taking the vehicle into kia, yet again, tomorrow to have this problem repaired.

Dt*: the contact stated the horn on the vehicle worked intermittently.the problem had been ongoing since the vehicle was purchased in may of 2005.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to determine the problem.the manufacturer was also notified.

The contact owns a 2005 kia sportage. While driving at approximately 45 mph, the electronic stability program indicator would illuminate intermittently which she noticed since january 2010. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were 92,047.

I was driving and the vehicle would not brake, and steered right while driving 40-50 mph, hitting the curb and almost collided with another vehicle. Definite defect in the steering/fuel/brakes/electronicstabilitycontrol, and other minor mechanical malfunctions.

During all of the 5 incidents in 2009 the engine misfired violently. At times 35mph was max speed. Cronin kia had my vehicle over 30 days in 5 visits in 2009. They have replaced; two cat. Converters, the ignition coil pack and spark plugs, a leaking fuel injector and associated wiring. Please note the error codes for visits 1 and 5 (3/17/09 and 7/14/09); p0300-p0303-p0305-p0273. Visit number1 also had codes; p0420-p0430 and p0170. The duplicate codes indicate the problem affects "bank 1 only. Code p0170 spells out the problem; "fuel trim malfunction-bank 1".the destroyed catalytic converters were the result of the fuel trim problem. The same for the leaking fuel injector. I believe it is only a matter of time before the other bank 1 injectors fail. The fuel trim must be a function of the vehicle's computer. I believe the "bank 1 fuel trim malfunction" and/or the electronic stabilization program (esp) and/or the vehicle's computer are the source of this dangerous problem.there is a recall on the esp; sc-044 - march, 2005. "the esp system may cause the engine to reduce power and may cause a braking action at one of the wheels". "brake application caused by inadvertent esp activation may result in loss of control and a crash".the front brake pads on my vehicle were worn out at 41,000 miles. I asked kia customer service in an initial letter if this was premature. Of course, i received no answer.after the number 5 incident(july, 2009) the engine would stall even after a leaking fuel injector and associated wiring were replaced. It stalled less than a mile from cronin and three times the next day.during the number 5 incident the esp shut itself off; "esp off" appeared in the instrument panel. I passed this information to jeff wyler kia service department. This was ignored. The final (number 6) attempt to repair the problem consisted of a joy ride after which they declared; "all operations are normal" they consider this problem amusing. They refused to contact kia!

The contact owns a 2005 kia sportage.the vehicle was repaired under recall # 05v120000 (suspension:automatic stability control (asc)).the contact stated that the right rear brakes are now squealing and that the brakes should have been inspected when the repair was performed.the dealer stated that the rotor has glazed over.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 33,000.

While driving 80mph on freeway, car stopped with no warning, wouldn't restart for over 30 minutes

Dt*: the contact stated the check engine light illuminated.the dealership inspected the vehicle a total of eight times.each time the engine light has been reset however, the light illuminated again.the dealership has been unable to determine why the engine light continues to illuminate.

Brought to dealer for leak. Dealer states transmission pan leaking due to improper sealing. Supposed repaired underwarranty. Bring back dealer say not leaking anymore must be residual fluid on engine. Brought back again said now the transmission cooler leaking. Not covered paid for new cooler. Brought home . Noticed still have a leak brought back to dealer. Now they say it is a leak in the radiator. Want to replace that at my cost.

When gas tank is filled, gas leaks out of pipe leading to gas tank. Which in my opinion could cause a fire and/or explosion.car is currently at the dealer to correct the problem.

Gas tank was overfilled while traveling out-of-town.this resulted in having to tow the vehicle to a dealer and having the gas tank dropped, and replacing the evaporation canister assembly. The cost to me was $284 because it was a 'self-induced' problem. The manuals say nothing about overfilling causing part damage that the customer is liable for.repairs took five days due to the service dealer lacking the proper diagnostic equipment and adapters for the sportage.currently working with kia of america to try to get reimbursed for the expense.

Received recall notice for fuel leak on 2005 kia sportage.letter said repair takes two hours.took vehicle in and after 5 hours, was told they need to order parts and keep vehicle.2 days later was given a rental car and told it would be a week to get the parts.9 days after taking the vehicle in, was informed that it would be 4 weeks to get parts but the vehicle was drivable and to come get it.called manufacturer and was told the same thing.unacceptable that the 2 hour repair shoudl take over 5 weeks!

When accelerating with load on engine going up hill, just before the transmission shifts into gear the power steering will lock-up.the momentary loss of steering while on mountainous roads makes for a very dangerous journey home.

When driving, usually on freeway, as you begin to brake and exit the freeway, the power steering assist stops functioning, and steering becoms extremely difficult.the problem lasts maybe 2 to 4 seconds, and then everything seems fine.numerous trips to dealerships (three different dealers, five repair trips) and they claim they can't duplicate the problem, therefore "there is no problem".problem has been recurring for over 1 1/2 year period.date of incident used here is only most recent.

The rear cross member that holds rear tie rods and rear connecting arms to wheels is rusted so bad it will fail. My employer has same year same model but in hyundaihers is the same and drivers side rear just snapped hike driving it's the exact same part and rusted so bad wheel collapsed. This is why i checked mine. Bottom line main suspension component on kia and hyundai shortage or dante fe fail at 10 years. There are as a recall to undercoat or replace parts under the car do to early rust failure. This was 6 years ago. This cross member is bolted to he frame and i can guarantee most 2005 have the same failure occurring. It s also hard to locate the part and they charge from $350- $1000 for it. The hyundai exact same part # from kia is twice as much as the kia part.

I was driving and the vehicle would not brake, and steered right while driving 40-50 mph, hitting the curb and almost collided with another vehicle. Definite defect in the steering/fuel/brakes/electronicstabilitycontrol, and other minor mechanical malfunctions.

Continous failures in the electronic stability program (eps) that causes periodic braking during normal driving conditions.failure causes car to pull in the direction of braking wheel, often causing the car to enter other lanes of traffic.at this point, only the electronic sensor has been replaced, which has not corrected problem.

I have a 2005 kia sportage.the headliner and sun visors and the back are a cloth material - the rest is leather.the problem is little tiny black fibers are coming through the tan colored headliner etc.there fibers are coming through in abundance, laying on the dash board and console.it can be cleaned one day and the fibers are there again the next.these fibers are very very small. They are also getting on my skin - they itch and stick to my skin.the primary concern is that these fibers are so small, and i know that i am breathing them in.have you had other complaints about this.i have consulted the dealer and they are waiting for the main warranty dept to get back to them - in the mean time i am concerned about my health - please advise.

The clutch went out on our kia sportage and when we had it at the auto mechanic, he told us, the frame was so rusty it was a major safety issue.we were alarmed to hear this considering we used this car to transport our grandchildren sometimes and thought about would could have happened.currently we do not even want the clutch repaired as we have been told not to consider even driving it unless the frame sub rails/floor are replaced.i have since read other reviews and have found similar alarming concerns.kia should address this huge safety issue.we cannot drive the car, cannot fix the clutch, so it is just sitting at the mechanics.what do we do, just junk the car?what a cost infringement.we will never purchase another kia, nor will people that we inform of this issue.i shudder when i think about what could have happened, especially driving on the highway.please advise...

Purchased 2005 (new) right from the showroom.eight years later find out that the rear subframeis completely rotted out. And that's putting it mildly. Brought it to kia dealership to have them lookat it.said they never seen anything like it before.told me it was unsafe to drive, that if the frame broke in half the back tires would fall off. Only thing holding it on is the trailing arms. Claim was filed but kia wont do anything because of the miles on the vehicle and said that it was from the salton the road in the winter.only problem is that's the only part under the vehicle that's rotted and everythingelse is solid without rust.hmmmm!!!!i hope that an investigation is opened because this is a seriousmatter and kia doesn't want to take responsibility for it. Ive taken pictures and everyone that i've showncant believe there eyes, saying there's no way a vehicle of this year should the subframe look like that.kia said they've had a lot of complaints about rust but this can't even be considered rust the holes are so...oooo big i could put my fist through it.please investigate this matter before someone gets seriously hurt or killed.this is no laughing matter!!!!!

Front suspension problem; a lot of noise, kia dealer has replaced a lot of part of the front suspension, is practically new. But they have not found the problem yet, since i bought it on may, 2005. This causing a lot of big vibrations when driving on highway make it unsafe because instability.

I took my 2005 kia sportage ex into the dealership in january to be checked due to a squeaking sound coming from the rear end. The parts clerk ordered a rear passenger spindle. Its been four months and the part is supposedly on back order, they have denied it being a recall and advised me that it was not a safety issue. I have a suspicion that it is a recall due to it taking so long to get the part and the fact that they are unable to give me a date as to when the part will be available. I'm concerned for my safety as well as other motorists.

It is not getting fuel .after i continued to try and refuel it. I noticed a recall online about my vehicle nut dealer is only sayinh the recall is on a fuel strap ti hold the fuel tank upi need this safely repaired

Took car to have something unrelated to this checked. Was told that the frame is rusted and rotted really bad and is unsfe to drive. The vehicle was stationary and remains stationary for fear of it completely breaking off and causing a catastrophe to myself, my little girls or other drivers on the road.

Frame corrosion/perforation in rear end. Mechanic says it is unsafe to drive and can't pass safety inspection as rear axle could break off at any time. This seems to be a well documented issue for this vehicle. Vehicle is a totalfinancial loss for me now.
