The contact owned a 2016 kia soul. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle skid and crashed. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained neck and back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed destroyed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
My wife hit a car (t boned) the front of the car was totaled. The airbags did not diploid. She went in the hospital. The s belt went in her chest and she has neck and back pain. I reported it to the kia dealer and never got an answer.
I was in a car accident a few months ago that involved me leaving the road and that i was completely airborne landing on the other side of the embankment my air bags did not deploy under the force of my car going airborne and landing so hard that my underside of my car was torn up needing almost 6,000 dollars in repairs. Including breaking my oil filter off of the car. I was told that my airbags should have completely deployed. But they did not. I really am scared that if i was in another accident they will not deploy when needed to save my or my families life.
I was rear ended on the 91freeway in california.i was almost at a complete stop due to traffic.i was hit so hard from the back that i was thrown into vehicle in front of me.my daughter and i were in the car.my car is a total loss.not one single air bag deployed.but by the grace of god we escaped with minor injuries.by that i mean were alive.
Front impacted another vehicle at 35-40 mph and air bags did not deploy.this happened 3/7/2020 at 3:45 in port charolette fl. This occurred on route 776 and toledo blade
The crashat about 2:30am early tuesday morning on nov. 24, 2020, on her way home from her nearby 2nd shift job, my wife's2016 kia sol was hit hard on the driver's side by a car being pursued by police. Luckily, and possibly because my wife is short and sits high, she appears uninjured although visibly shaken and very nervous about night driving.my wife had pulled her car over to the right side of the 4+ lane road when she heard sirens. While pulled over with the car running and her foot on the brake, the perpetrator's vehicle crashed into the driver's side and pushed her car several feet further to the right, crumpling the doors and breaking off the left rear wheel and suspension from the impact.the police report showed that the perpetrator's vehicle approached her car from the front left, but the vehicle hit the very short kia squarely and only in the two driver's side doors with no damage to the front or rear fenders. Clearly not sideswiped where the entire side would have been damaged.allstate insurance totaled the car and photos from the accident scene and towing yard are attached, as is the police report.no airbags deployed!none of the kia's airbags deployed. We bought the car new in late 2015 and it has been completely serviced since then at the original kia dealer. They recently updated the car's computer under a kia recall.on dec. 4, 2020, i contacted the kia consumer assistance center (kaylee c at 949-468-4689) and asked why the airbags failed. After looking at photos i sent her and from the copart lot, she quickly said the car was "sideswiped and not hit hard enough to deploy the airbags".her response was protecting kia line as any review of the photos shows that he car was hit from the side very hard and not sideswiped.i ask that nhtsa investigate this incident as it's unlikely that only my vehicle has this potentially fatal flaw.
On 2/18/17 my daughter was involved in a front end collision in our 2016 kia soul.she struck a stopped toyota carolla at over 45mph on southbound i-5 in seattle wa.this was a direct front end collision and the airbags in the kia soul did not deploy even though the metal bumper bar was completely bent in a "v" shape back beyond the radiator.kia usa first claimed that this was due to under riding.sent them daytime photos from the next day when we visited the car to remove personal items and they changed the story to "the air bag sensors are in the connecting pillars so this still would not have triggered the air bags.kia usa is accepting no fault and it taking no action.based on my research, this collision should have triggered both front airbags as both front seats were occupied by adults at the time of the collision.my hope is you can use this information and my photos to investigate this situation and resolve it with kia.from my point of view we experienced a complete failure of one of the cars main safety features, front driver and passenger airbags.i have additional photos and a video that i am willing to share if you would like them.[xxx][xxx][xxx][xxx] *dlinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Daughter was in an accident on a highway driving at approximately 60 mph in her 2016 kia soul when she rear ended a suburban after it was cut off by another vehicle. The front end damage was extensive and her car was totaled and shockingly, the air bags did not deploy.
On october 28, 2020 i had a box truck slam the brakes in front of me causing me to rear end them going approximately 25/30 mph. The front of my kia was smashed into the engine and airbags did not deploy. I have sustained major long term injuries due to the airbag not deploying.
Driving to work on freeway going about 15-20mph when all of a sudden i was blind-sided by a chevy silverado truck going 50-60mph. The initial impact was my rear passenger side door. Absolutely no airbag went off on that side. The impact knocked me across two lanes of the freeways oncoming traffic where i was hit again on driver's side. The steering wheel bag went off after the 2nd impact. The driver's side curtain airbags did not go off. Is this the car you have a 5-star crash ratings? my car was totaled. I incurred a severe concussion and multiple fractures that requires surgery.
On highway in rainy conditions hydroplaned in to concrete barrier wallat about 70 mph first impact on drivers front corner near headlight. Airbags never deployed.
While driving the car in a shopping mall parking lot the vehicle stopped running.the entire electrical system ofthe vehicle shut down. No electric power in thevehicle would work. The entire electrical and computer system in the vehicleshut down. I was unable to restart the car. The lights, radio and power windowsdid not work.vehicle was towed to kia country (savannah, ga) on 12/23/2019. Consumer was informed that they would be responsible for the repair. Consumer contacted manufacturer to see if vehicle was covered under nhtsa #19v120, recall #sc176. Consumer is still waiting on a response from the manufacturer. *dl

First, a couple of weeks ago my check engine light comes on and my engine temperature gauge stops working properly. It starts taking about 15 minutes for my engine temperature gauge to show the engine is warmed up. After about two days the engine light goes off by itself. So i finally get an appointment at the kia dealership today. They say they need to put an updated program into my kia soul's computer..that seemed to fix the issue according to the dealership. I drive away go to a store when i come out of the store and get back into my car and pull out of the parking spot my cars check engine light comes on again. I take it to auto zone to get the code read. This time the code is p0420. I call the dealership800-995-4203 and the service associate marty tells me to bring my kia soul back to the dealership.when i get there he says they are now going to charge me $109.95 an hour to diagnose what is wrong with my car. At this time i am in the waiting room feeling like i'm being taken advantage of by these people but i have no other option and i don't have anyway of knowing what, if anything, is actually wrong with my car. Not to mention all this happens between 59000 and 60000 miles on my car and the warranty expired at 60000 miles.
The lights flickered and i lost both head lights. Head light bulbs keep going out randomly.sometimes both at the same time.i have replaced them 4 times this year.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while his wife was in a parking lot with the vehicle idling, the vehicle stalled without warning. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the battery and starter functioned as designed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 112,000.
Check engine light on more than off or so it seems. Engine code p0s0a. Dealer attempts to fix. Code comes back
Seems the check engine light comes on and off and when taken to the dealership. They cant find nothing wrong with it. The check engine light can stay on for days and the engine runs ruff. When this is told at the dealership they say they cant find anything. This light is on when the car is running weather its sitting still or driving.
Headlights flicker during use, especially when using the turn signals.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v389000 (power train, electrical system). The contact received a courtesy service and software update. After leaving the dealer and while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact pulled over the side of the roadway and waited for approximately to restart the vehicle. The vehicle restarted however, while driving, the vehicle hesitated and failed to exceed 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to oakland kia (2500 webster st, oakland, ca 94612, (888)871-7024) where the vehicle was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive. The manufacturer provided the contact with a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
I keep having a reassuring issue with my headlights multiple times i have taken the vehicle to the dealer paying to get the issue fixed. Spending countless dollars on this issue for the problem to continue. The kia dealers keep changing parts out and nothing has helped. Is it a way that this issue can get check by someone please.
I was getting ready to merge onto the interstate when i heard noise coming from the engine compartment. When i got onto the interstate the car would not accelerate, so i pulled over to the shoulder, and the engine died. Smoke was coming from under the hood, and two men in two vehicles stopped and opened the hood and flames were coming out from under the hood. They had water and a fire extinguisher and also threw some dirt on the fire to put it out. The vehicle was towed to the kia dealership where it was bought. The insurance company had the kia soul towed to denver colorado to have their agent look it the kia. It was declared a total loss and was not an arson fire. The kia dealership from which the kia soul was bought never inspected the soul. All routine maintenance was done on schedule by the kia dealership for the 9 months i owned the kia. It was bought new in december of 2016 and caught fire in september of 2017. The cause of the fire was never determined and kia never took any responsible.
Car was in good condition and well maintained according to manufacturer's service schedule. It was last serviced on 7/31/18 when it passed nys inspection. The owner was informed on 9/18/18 @ 7:03 pm by daughter that car started making a strange sound on 9/17/18. Planned to have dealer check out car on 9/19/18. On 9/18/18 @ approximately 8:35 pm, while being driven on the local portion of an interstate highway, the car's oil light blinked on and off. A few minutes later the check engine light went on. A few minutes later the car engine began to smoke and smoke came into the car through the air vents. The driver, my daughter's boyfriend, pulled over into the breakdown lane, turned off the car, got out, stepped away from it and the engine erupted in flames. By approximately 8:50 pm the car was totally engulfed in flames. The car looks like it was fire bombed.

I have a kia soul ev because this is the battery that decreases the number of kilometers per day by day i think the battery has a problem
Upon parking my car i noticed the engine was on fire. Smoke and flames were coming from up under the hood. The car was declared a total loss by my insurance company and the fire was deemed electrical in nature.
I was on the freeway in the fast lane and my car started acting like it wanted to stall. The engine light came on briefly and went away. I hit the gas to try to get over to the right lane so that i could exit the freeway and nothing was happening with the rpm it would not go over 2 and i thought i was going to stall on the freeway. I was so upset and finally made it to an off ramp. When i stopped at the off ramp the car was shaking and making a terrible noise like it was going to just explode. I contemplated staying off the freeway and taking the streets but i was not in a good area so i got back on the freeway and stayed in the right hand lane to exit and head straight to the dealership. I immediately called them and told them what happened to me. They said it was a cylinder that was misfiring and that they replaced it. Well i was driving yesterday and the engine light came on again and my car wanted to stall again and it had only been a week since they supposedly fixed it. I took the car in and again they blamed it on the oil and are now saying that my engine may be burning the oil faster than it should and if that is the case they will need to replace the motor. The car has me on edge as i drive my kids and grandkids everywhere. I do not feel safe in this car at all anyomre. I feel like the engine can give out at anytime without warning.
Driving this car high speeds (freeway) for longer periods of time (30 minutes or more per day) for more than 3 consecutive days affects my overall health and ability to drive the car. It get chronic headaches, trouble concentrating, sleeping problems, dizziness, forgetfulness, exhaustion, and anxiety which affect my reaction time and alertness while driving, and ability to make proper decisions in traffic. There was no accident, since i discontinued driving the car as soon as i became aware of the problem. I also went to a doctor who confirmed that i am sensitive to the battery of the vehicle (see attached). I contacted the manufacturer but they are not willing to help. I had the car serviced at the local kia service dept., but they say the battery is working properly.
My car was not starting. I do not drive it everyday and began to think it was the battery. I had it tested at the auto zone and thery said it was great no problems. Said it could be the starter but thought that odd with as few miles as on it. I also notice the recall for the steering issue i will schedule an appt for. I also have a light in my dash that stays on all the time.
The uvo system which includes the backup camera has failed. Kia should be required to replace as a safety item at no charge, just like tesla is required to do for their failed screens.
Headlights randomly will flicker, afraid they will stop working when driving at night.i notice it while driving.
Driver seat giving off electrical shock to legs and butt when pressing the gasthe engine stalling the cataylic converter over heating vehicle steering right air bag symbols pops up every now and then *tp the consumer stated the vehicle experienced various life threatening cyber security risk.
My vehicle stalled, cut out while i was driving in traffic, and died. It was diagnosed with am issue with the engine. All maintenance for the vehicle were being properly maintained ap rhere should not have had any issues. There was a defect in the engine.
Vehicle was stationary. The check engine light turns on and throws p050a code. I took into authorized dealer in october 2019, i was told kia is aware of issue and the code is insignificant, they cleared the code. This code error was triggered again about 4/12/2020. I have called kia to ask for a resolution and have been informed there is not one, except to have a dealer clear the code. They have no time frame for a resolution. I believe this becoming a safety issue as we as drivers should have trust in the significance of warnings for engine problems, and i am concerned for when there is an actual issue that arises and being unaware given the light sporadically turns off as well as the potential for loss of resale as i have been considering attempting to change vehicles. We should not be expected to be able to make it in to a dealer every time this non-issue code is thrown.
I was driving down the freeway on i-20 going see mother in law @ around 10:30 pmand the car just started licking up speed on it own and i had fianceewith me .i am deaf said there something wrong i said what the car started idling really werid .and he said pull off next exit start try to stall on the freeway.so pull over to exit and start to run normal for few mins then stall again off and on. The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving into an intersection, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to dutch miller kia (7725 south blvd, charlotte, nc) where it was diagnosed that the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 51,188.
Tamara recall: my car has been losing oil but do not see oil anywhere. Received a recall letter regarding catalytic converter needing replaced. I took it to the dealership. They replaced the converter, gave me an oil change and replaced a pressure valve. Four days after i received my car back, there was no oil in the engine. I took it back to kia and they are refusing to replace the engine.
I was driving home from work and my car started making a clicking sound. A couple minutes later itslowed down until it completely stopped. I'm thankful i was pulling up in front of my house before the car completely died. I replaced the battery but it still won't crank. The lights, radio, and air conditioning works. I was told it may be the alternator.
Car was in motion making a knocking sound. Car felt like it was going to stall so i pulled over to the shoulder. Car stalled when i stopped. I tried to start the engine again but all of the warning lights came on and nothing happened. I noticed light gray smoke coming from under the hood. I was going to pop the hood to check if the car was overheating and smoke became thicker and black so me and my kids exited the car and went a safe distance from the car and i called 911.
Engine noise.uses 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while his wife was in a parking lot with the vehicle idling, the vehicle stalled without warning. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the battery and starter functioned as designed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 112,000.
A few months ago car intermittently started bucking as if watery fuel or fuel depletion was occurring accompanied with a loud sound as of grinding metal. Check engine light would come on intermittently for a short while and then go off again. Braking and slowing would temporarily stop it until it recurred. With timethose episodes grew more frequent.i consulted martin kia of bowling green, ky from whom i bought the car whose service department seemed to offer no suggestion as to the defect. Two autozone stores tested the engine, one with with check engine light off and another with it on, and both tests agreed that the catalytic converter was malfunctioning. Tests at the above kia dealer confirmed that finding and replaced the converter at a total costof almost $1300.00 saying its 98000 miles was out of emissions warranty. Problem is, the intermittent bucking and grinding persists. Online i then read that this is likely arecallcase alreadyreceiving 147 similar complaints and that some of these vehicles had been finally totally destroyed by an engine fires. It has become a fearful thing to drive it with that knowledge. What is your advised course foe a remedy?
Knocking sound coming from engine while vehicle stationary. Diagnosis points to damaged piston rod. Oil level checked found low despite appropriate levels when checked 1500 miles prior. Possible cause due to overheating emissions similar if not directly related to that of recall #sc176.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle unintentionally slowed down to a complete stop without depressing the brake pedal. The check engine and oil warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.
In august of 2020 car was not wanting to accelerate, when making a turn vehicle would start going and then lose momentum followed by a rapid take off in december took vehicle in for software update to trigger a limp mode per kia, at this time advised them of the car burning 2-3 quarts of oil in between 3000 mile oil changes. January 28th 2021 while driving on freeway the vehicle lost all power and shut completely off. Vehicle came on after a few seconds and advised there was a possible engine condition and to contact kia. Vehicle came back on and was towed to dealership. Dealership stated there were no codes and after reaching out to kia the vehicle was released with no changes.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the engine started knocking. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was informed that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving approximately 30 mph, a knocking sound emerged from the engine compartment and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the engine failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
Driving to work from lunch my car stalled and then completely stopped in the middle of the road. The engine light started flashing and then my car started to move again but it was sluggish and slow. It wont go past 45 miles before slowing all the way down. I had got my car recalled three days before, they said nothing was wrong with the engine/transmission at the time of the recall. Now three day later my cars stuck in limp mode showing a p0326 code.
I had a new engine put in april 2020.my car is now doing the same thing as before. My oil light flashes while it is idle or when pressing breaks and starts to miss out.
Was driving down the highway when my vehicle began rattling and stopped running. Pulled off the highway to assess the issue and it seemed as if there was no oil in the car. I purchased the vehicle a month and a half prior to this incident and the engine oil was fine as well as there was still 2,000 miles to go before the next oil change. Upon doing some research to see if there was a recall, it seems that there was a recall on 2016 kia souls for the 1.6l engine version of my vehicle. I have the 2.0l engine. More investigation shows that this is an issue across the board with both versions of the 2016 kia soul, but the 2.0l version has not been recalled. The kia recall i am referring to is: 19v120000 in which "high exhaust gas temperatures may damage the catalytic converter, possibly resulting in abnormal engine combustion and damage to one or more of the engine's pistons and possible piston connecting rod failure. Piston damage may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. A broken connecting rod may puncture the engine block allowing engine oil to escape. The leaking oil may contact the exhaust, increasing the risk of a fire."i do believe that this is the same issue that my vehicle experienced.
On sunday, may 26th, 2019, our kia soul caught fire as we were driving on the interstate highway. My family was in the car when my husband felt the car lose power. We heard a knocking sound between us and under us, forward between our seats and the engine. My husband saw smoke as he pulled over on the side of the highway. A few seconds after we pulled over, we saw flames erupt from the hood of the car. We got our three kids out of the car as fast as we could and ran from the car. We called 911 and the fire department and police came to put out the fire and direct traffic, as at least one lane was closed. In the time it took for the first responders to arrive, our car exploded into a fire ball.
Car would lose power while driving and could not reach any speed over 65 with out the rpm gauge going very high. It would not completely loose power and i can keep it moving. The check engine light did not come on and the temperature gauge read as normal. I got a second opinion on the car and they said it was the catalytic converter.
Vehicle stopped having any power and began sputtering on interstate 79 north of pittsburgh.driver managed to pull off onto an exit ramp and off the exit ramp (north) on the portersville/prospect exit before it shut off entirely and the engine would not roll over or start.no warning lights came on in the vehicle at all until it was stopped.car was towed from it's location to acm motorsports in titusville pa.mechanic determined that the starter was bad and when the engine was drained of oil, there was less than a quart of oil in it.oil checked previously (within a week of incident) showed that 3 quarts of oil was in the vehicle.the engine had blown up and was not repairable and needed replaced.vehicle was at approximately 82,000 miles.
The contact owned a 2016 kia soul. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle made a strange noise. The contact stopped the vehicle, added two quarts of oil, and continued to drive. Suddenly, a loud pop sound was heard. The contact and three passengers exited the vehicle and saw flames coming from the engine area. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. Both police and fire reports were filed. The vehicle was totaled and towed to a tow yard. There were no injuries. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Engine loses oil without a leak or any external indication (smoke, smell, driver controls). It requires 1-2 quarts added between scheduled oil changes. This is a safety hazard as it can seize abruptly without notification. It is a clear design flaw.
While driving on the nj turnpike at night time, i went to change from the right lane into the middle lane and the car stalled not able to pick up speed. As the car stalled there was a fast moving truck which was coming and that was able to switch lanes forcing me to move into the last lane which made the cars behind me have to come to a sudden stop. I then had to put on my hazards and slowly move back over to the shoulder. Once completely stopped i shut off the engine. After waiting for some time i started the car again, but nothing changed. I remained in the right lane with hazards on and drove the car not being able to go above 40 mph. Eventually the car got back to driving normal right before arriving home which was about a 40 to 50 minute ride. The car was taken to the dealership and i learned that the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. This is after taking this car to be looked at twice and being told that there was nothing found. Now i find that there is a recall on the car (nhtsa id: 19v120000), but it says that my vehicle is not amongst the vehicles recalled.
Car caught on fire. There was no accident involved. It started smoking and seconds later caught on fire. My son was driving on a city street, the car started smoking, he turned into a parking lot, got out of the car and the car caught on fire.
Last summer we were on vacation, driving from texas to kansas. While driving on the highway, we noticed that the engine started sounding like a diesel engine. I pulled over to the shoulder, shut the engine off and checked the oil. I noticed that we had spontaneously lost oil. No leaks or anything. We pulled into an auto parts store and purchased 3 quarts of 5w-20 synthetic castrol gtx synthetic oil, i added the oil and the rattling stopped. Now the engine again has done the same thing and now its in need of expensive repairs because the engine has a piston rod knock due to spontaneous oil loss.
While driving andaccelerating. My car loses power and slows down. Blue smoke comes out of tailpipe and smells like oil. I have a 2016 kia soul. I have noticed where there were recalls for 2016 kia soul. My car has alot of these problems but i have not received information about a recall.please let me know if my car is included in the recall. Thank you.
Check engine light came on. Vehicle taken into a auto shop. Told it was the catalytic converter. I saw that 2016 kia souls were being recalled with damaged catalytic converters. Wanting to know if my vehicle qualified.
Driving home normally, engine knock loudly, lost of power, barley made it home. Oil light came on in when i was checking engine. No oil, just had a oil change month ago. No leakage, no smoke from tail pike.oil pressure light never came on until it's out.i read 10 post that is the same as what happen to me.
8/1/20 driving on hwy 231 at 65mph when my car felt like it was stalling, pulled over and turned engine off.it would crank but only go approximately 20 mph or rev to about 2000 rpm, then just putter out. At tuffys where it was said "nothing was coding". Said needed knew fuel pump for $1600. That was replaced but was not the issue.he said there is an active recall associated w/ car and to get it to the local kia dealership.i immediately started researching an found recall 19v120000, i called kia 800# and was told there was no recall associated w/ car and that their search is vin specific and was no active recalls on this car. I continued to research, called back and yes indeed there was a recall. Car arrived there friday 8/7/20 at 9:30 am. Spoke w/ chuck and was not given any details though i called him daily.following friday(8/14/20) i spoke w/ jared who said they wern't sure but it was looking like possibly a recall issue but that they weren't sure and to call back and they could get me set up w/ a rental car because the engine likely needed replacing. An hour and a half later a women left me a voicemail asking me to get receipts of all oil changes done on vehicle. I still had no explanation on what was wrong with my car.gave 2 receipts but was not really sure the pertinence if this was a manufacture recall. Kia says the only recall was for a system update. When asked him if this had been done he said no. But i had previously been told by robert at 1800 kia that this had been done.i told jared this and he said "we probably just told tech support that" when i demanded to know if system update had been done he put me on hold, then replied '"oh well that was just done". He said but none of this has anything to do w/ ur car. When asked wtf the actal problem was he said engine was knocking due to my lack of maintenance and needed a new engine but in no way due to a recall
Oil light flickers while stopped. When accelerating, car knocks, rattles, and loses power. Took to mechanic to check oil. Mechanic said there was less than quart of oil left in my car and it was not time for oil change. Checked tail pipe, which was black like oil had been burnt. Researched online and there are recalls for 1.6 engines but mine is 2.0 engine and is doing the exact same thing as 1.6 engines that have been recalled. Burning oil through the exhaust due to a loose cam rod on exhaust piston like the other recalled vehicles. Kia needs to issue a recall for the 2.0 engines as well. There are several other complaints i have seen for 2.0 engines in kia's; therefore, a recall seems to be substantiated. With this car possibly stalling and locking up in regular traffic or the interstate, i am in danger of a possible wreck or causing others to wreck, injuring me or someone else needlessly.
Car burns oil and today lost all power to engineand makes a horrible sound while in motion on town street.
I was driving normal and the car just stopped when i tried to drive she had a loud noise and no power
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while turning on the vehicle as well as while driving, an oil odor was detected, a knocking sound was heard, and the vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of engine oil. The check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who performed an oil change and stated that the catalytic converter was faulty. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer and the dealer performed a recall for the engine control unit (ecu) software update however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The contact stated that smoke was seen coming from under the hood while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that she needed to pay for the diagnostic and since the recall repair was not performed in 2018, the dealer was not responsible for the engine replacement under nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine) for which the vin was included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was 146,630.
I purchased my kia soul in february 2016. I've driven around 45,000 miles and really enjoyed it until the other night. Driving about 45mph on a major street when a loud screech came from the engine. The car jerked and i thought it was going to stall but it didn't. A loud knocking sound started from under the hood and the oil light flickered a couple of times. Drove about 1/4 mile to the nearest gas station. Added around 1 quart of oil since i saw the oil light flicker. I then drove home (about 5 miles) and the oil light flickered a couple of times on the way. The next day i started the car, the oil light was off but the check engine light was on. So, i drove it to the dealership (1.5 miles at the most) and was told i needed a whole new engine. I was quoted $4,000 to $6,000 for a used one and for a new one it would be substantially more. I've taken good care of this vehicle and have maintained and regular oil changes. Several of the oil changes were performed at an auto repair shop that went bankrupt. I have no way to obtain copies of those receipts. All i could supply the dealership was one receipt and they had one receipt in their service records. Therefore, no copies... No warranty. I can't afford the cost to repair it and i have no idea what to do at this point. The dealer will buy the car back for around $4,000 at best. Why is it that one minute a 3 year old car is running great without a problem and the next minute it's parked and in need of a new engine? something isn't right about that and i am at a loss of what to do next.
When i called the dealership about the code that popped up when i used my reader to read the check engine light that popped up two days before thanksgiving. It said it was the catalytic converter. The kia lady took my vin and said there was no recalls but everyone with my car was calling in about it. And the part itself is 1200 dollars. How many others have to go through the exact same thing which also says it can result in loss of control. As a mother with a toddler who chose this car based on its affordability and safety features. This is unacceptable.there needs to be an issue recalled immediately.the car is a 2016 kia. Theres should be no reason that i would have to pay 3000 dollars to replace a part that everyone's having to replace or your car will literally break down for good. The po50a code.
Catalytic overheating, burnt out the spark plugs and harness. Car lost all power and would not go faster than about 20mph which was very dangerous in traffic. Car had to be towed. All other 2016 kia soul with 1.6l i-4 dohc gasoline direct injection (gdi) have been included in recall to fix this issue and this series of vin should be included and covered as well. Can lead to total engine failure and replacement necessary. Dealership now wants $2000 to fix this issue that may have already done permanent damage to the engine. This would leave us footing the bill for replacement engine that is needed later because of damage done when motor was burning gas too hot. This kia soul needs to be added to the recall already in insistence.
Was driving home from work, stopped at a light then proceeded to go and vehicle had little to no power.rpm's wouldn't go above about 2500 and would then bog down and almost die.diagnosed with failed catalytic converter at 66k miles.if it was cloggingup, we should have seen decreased performance at some point.this isn't something that should just happen all of a sudden.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving, a loud noise was present coming from the engine compartment with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to boomer kia located at 339 w interstate 240 service rd, oklahoma city, ok 73139 who discovered that there was no oil in the engine. The contact indicated that the oil was recently changed prior to the failure. The dealer added oil to the engine however, days later the vehicle stalled and it was discovered again that there was no oil in the engine. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,000. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving, the vehicle began to hesitate and would not accelerate past 30 mph. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side the road. The vehicle was not able to be driven and was towed to lev kia of framingham (located at 510 cochituate rd, framingham, ma 01701, (508) 879-5555) where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 107,000. *ln
I was driving and my 2016 kia soul stalled in the middle of the highway the car behind me almost crashed into me and begin beeping. When i pushed on the gas it would hesitate giving me just enough to get to the side of the ride. This is the second time this has happened the first time the dealer repaired the long engine block free of charge at 66,000 miles this time the dealer told me it's the same exact thing wrong but i am responsible for the repairs. They also said i don't have regular oil changes but i have receipts from both kia dealerships that i have my car serviced but they only are going by there records from they dealership, i do see there was a recall (sc176)on the engines feb 2019 and want to know if and why my vehicle is not included in the recall. My first complaint about my engine was 2 months after purchasing it. To have your car stall in the middle of a highway is very scary and a hazard to everyone
2016 kia soul 2.0 engine loses power intermitting engine lightintermitting oil light and possibly rods knocking the highway and turning
Vehicle lost power while driving engine light came on steering wheel got hot
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle would shake and vibrated before the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who diagnosed that the catalytic converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
After a short drive, i parked my 2016 kia soul in the garage and 15 minutes later i heard a noise in the garage.my husband opened the door to the garage and found flames coming from the stationary kia. The entire garage caught fire and included my other car which was an infiniti g35. The primary flames were coming out of the hood/front right fender seam with minor flames underneath the kia. We know that the fire started in the passenger side of the engine compartment of the kia soul.the vehicle was less than one year old, had approximately 6000 miles, and had only been serviced once at the henderson kia dealership for an oil change. We believe that the cause of the safety risk was the fuel vapor leak because my son's 2016 kia forte, also purchased from henderson kia, had a severe fuel vapor leak that he had repaired at the dealership about three months after my kia soul fire. The speed of my garage fire is consistent with a fuel vapor leak that was documented by the henderson kia service department on my son's kia forte. We had to move out of our home for five months while the house was being repaired. There was over $142,000 damage to our home and personal property.
1st issue the malfunction indicator lamp came on. Car has 44k miles on it. The car has loss of power and cuts off when trying to accelerate. The gas mileage has dropped considerably and the engine is running extremely hot
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The vehicle was serviced for nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) at summit place kia (located at 4200 interpark dr, auburn hills, mi 48326, (248) 682-6002) in april of 2019. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to park the vehicle on the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to ed voyles kia (located at 2145 cobb pkwy se, smyrna, ga 30080, (770) 952-2621) where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 76,472.
The vehicle has 59,000 miles and is consuming oil at a high rate. A fault light came on putting the car in limp mode where it refuses to accelerate. The dealership has had the vehicle with no resolution for nearly a month. There are reports of fires and other fatalities with this model and the recall needs to be expanded in order to force kia motors to buy-back these cars.
Excessive oil consumption. Kia dealer states after performing two oil consumption tests back to back at 1000 miles each that the engine needs replaced. Kia will not replace engine as vehicle has now passed the 60,000 mile engine warranty. Vehicle has 65,000 miles. Dearler states that i have to pay.
Whiledriving home on us highway. Speed of 55 mph posted speed limit.the engine started to knock loudly and itlost power.i almost got hit getting it to the shoulder of the highway.oil light was on.checked the oil and added 3 quarts.started engine again and oil light went out and knocking was reduced.drove another 4 miles and the engine started to knock loudly again and itlost of power again.barley made it home by coasting downhill.recent oil change and have maint records.no leakage, no smoke from tail pipe. Oil pressure light never came on until it was out of oil. I read many posts of others having the same exact thing as what happen to me.
My car caught on fire. The whole car is damaged. There is no front the interior is gone. I have started a case with kia. My vehicle was going up a hill about 30 minkes an hour when it started smoking. It was pulled over and the hood was popped. The engine was on fire. Soon the whole front and middle of the car was on fire. This was at 14000 jericho street at the entrance of bowie state university in bowie md. Police and fire departments were called.*dt*dt*dt
I was driving vehichle when i started to lose power and all the dash lights came on.i pulled over and the car stalled.i tried to restart it and it suddenly started smoking. I had the car towed to independent mechanic who diagosed the car and said that the engine had seized up and that i would need a new engine.
While driving on the freeway (70mph) , the engine began to knock and shake the car. Then there was a bang, and several puffs of white smoke, and the car died. We had it towed to the shop, and they told us that a piston shot through the bottom of the engine block, and drained all the oil in the car. The entire engine would need to be replaced. Quoted cost to repair 9k for a used engine, 15k for a new engine. The car was well maintained, and serviced regularly.*dtconsumer stated following codes from diagnostic p0326, p0014p0303.*dtconsumer statedmanufacturer could not do anything about.
Engine is comsuming too much oil too fast. Had oil changed recently and before it was time to get it changed again the oil light on the dashboard came on. Took car to place to where they changed the oil last time and they checked the oil and said the level wasn't even high enough to touch the dipstick. Car is not driven that much nor is it leaking oil. Tech said to see if there is a recal for this as he remembers there maybe being one.
Much like others on here, was driving normally when within moments, the car began to make a noiseimmediately followed by smoke. This car has had regular maintenance and is just over 100k miles. These engines are obviously suffering from the same problem as the 1.6 liter. Kia needs to recall these immediately.
On 6-10-19 the 2.0l engine failed in my 2016 kia soul+ with less than 40,000 miles. The dealership determined this was due to a "manufacturer defect" and will be "repaired under warranty." the service department at the kia dealership stated the cylinders in the block were "out of round." they said it appeared that allow oil to get burned with the exhaust and burn up in the catalytic converter. This caused high amounts of carbon build up in the catalytic converter. I have no time frame as to when my vehicle will be repaired and returned to me.
Threw rod threw engine was driving pulled out of parking pop noise oil antifreeze everywhere
August 28, 2020 i recieved a letter from kia corporate headquarters stating a recall on a 2014 - 2016 kia soul conducting software update on engine to protect the engine. Got that completed and several weeks later went back to the kia dealership for an oil change, was asked did i give a good review for kia and the guy appeared upsset, anywho after that oil change my kia started to run slow and would not accerate to the normal speed or seems to stop. Ask a mechanic and said it sounds likke the catalytic converter. I look up information on kia and there is a recall for catalytic converter, however, the dealership is checking for other things. How do i protect my car?
85k miles 2016 kia soul. Turning from a stop into slow oncoming side street traffic, loss of acceleration power. Rpms to 4, slight rev, but no power. Could not go over 20 or so mph. Slight low rattle when pulled over (within 2 blocks of issue).oil light flicker. Ran 'fix'd' diagnostic. Nothing. Drive slowly 4 or so more miles to destination. Oil light flickered upon arrival. Ran diagnostic again after parking. Camshaft position timing sensor pulls up. Checked oil. Low. Filled oil. Next morning drive 1 more mile to aaa approved shop. They do not mention camshaft sensor. They say oil pressure low even with oil, engine about to seize up. Knocking sound loud after their assessment and however long they drove it. I looked online and saw several mentions of kia souls with less mileage and same problem - loss power. Engine quitting. No check engine light ever came on. Oil light only flickered when parking, and car was topped with oil within 4 or so miles of this. No oil leaks evident. Car was up to date on maintenance and oil changes at recommended schedule.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle shuddered and loss motive power. The contact restarted the vehicle and continued driving to the residence. An unknown warning light was illuminated when the vehicle was restarted. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine rod had fractured and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 59,600.
My vehicle stalled, cut out while i was driving in traffic, and died. It was diagnosed with am issue with the engine. All maintenance for the vehicle were being properly maintained ap rhere should not have had any issues. There was a defect in the engine.
I had received my last an oil change on 8/3/2020 at 78,901 miles on 10/20/2020 my cars oil light turned on while idling, i turned down my music and heard the engine had a slight rattle. I drove less than 6 miles trying to get to the nearest service location and the engine stalled causing me to pull over on the side of the highway. Upon inspecting the dipstick it was determined that there was little oil on my dipstick and i was sitting at less than 81,500 miles. I filled the engine with oil in hopes to get it going and it did turn on but was making an even louder rattling noise. Checking the dipstick again, pieces of metal could be seen in the very black oil. This is a similar complaint to other engine recalls kia has put out for similar engines produced during the same time frame. I took my vehicle to the local kia dealership and neither them nor my service agreement provider agreed to cover repair costs.
The check engine light is indicating catalytic converter issues. I took it to the mechanic and he is describing the exact problem as found in recall 19v120000. He measured 900-degree exhaust gas temperatures on one side and 500 degrees on the other. The catalytic converter has subsequently been damaged. The kia dealership is telling me that there is no open recall under the vin number for my vehicle yet my vehicle is having all the problems as indicated in the aforementioned recall. I'm afraid that this car will catch on fire. What are my options if the dealership refuses to repair this problem as a recall item although my vin number is not listed?
Car stop working and catalytic converter blew
My soul has been over heating, stalling, and back firing, even had smoke come from engine 2 times.has been in shop over 7 times for thermostat issue, that they said they can not fix .plus my car has been in a number of times for it not having any get up and go .it has to be really fast to go up hills .on highway or main roads .
Motor blew up at 73,000 miles kia wouldn't up hold warranty so i bought a short block from kia motors had it replaced and in less than 5 min oil light came on and new short block had already spun a bearing kia wouldn't up hold warranty on new short block either so i had to junk a car i still owed over 12,000.00 on
My car is using excessive oil. There is no evidence of leaking externally (on the ground) or in the engine compartment. I go through about 4 quarts per month / 2500 miles. The oil light has never come on, even when i have forgotten to check and the oil dipstick is completely dry. This could be a huge safety issue if the engine locks up and throws a rod in the middle of nowhere.
Kia and dealer aware of this vehicle consuming excessive amounts of oil which could catastrophically cause engine failure with a high risk of driver/passenger death if vehicle runs out of oil. Kia is unwilling to replace/repair/fix the problem. This lack of acknowledgement by booth the auto manufacturer and the dealer is just cause for negligence and may result in death or fatal injury. The vehicle is at 65,000 miles and has had two oil consumption tests performed by spitzer kia, cleveland, ohio at 1000 mile intervals. The problem is well known to the auto manufacturer and they will not intervene with replacement. Engine fire could cause accident, and or death to occupants and or other victims if engine runs out of oil and creates excessive heat. Warning lights do not illuminate to warn driver and occupants of danger. A law firm suggests reaching out to nhtsa to resolve.
Engine started knocking and stalled on the highway going 70mph, almost caused a major accident.had it towed to local kia dealership.although i was the second owner, and the car was over 5 years old and had 71,000 miles, kia replaced the engine under warranty.metallic debris was found in engine, probably causing failure.
Driving on highway and car started slipping gears and having trouble accelerating from a stop. Oil light came on and it had no oil, added proper amount and type of oil. When idling check oil light flashes red even with proper oil level.dealership states sounds like, they currently are checking it, engine and rod issue.
Kia has 88k miles and recent oil change and car made a loud noise while driving at 60 mphon highway and now engine makes knocking noise from detached rods. It will cost over $5000 to fix( est.). Bought car used from klamath falls subaru at 58k miles
Check engine light on more than off or so it seems. Engine code p0s0a. Dealer attempts to fix. Code comes back
Catalytic converter failed, sending pieces into engine, causing engine to catch fire. Melted some major components while driving. Same thing as last major recall in which kia replaced my engine. So, this was a brand new 1 1/2 year old engine. This vehicle is currently at keifer kia in eugene, or awaiting kia national to do their fire investigation.
I have a recall on my 2016 kia soul engine control unit
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While traveling 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the engine seized. The contact had to push the vehicle to the side of the road, but managed to eventually drive home. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling); however, the vin was excluded from the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 138,000.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that at start-up the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to rodeo kia located at 10685 papago fwy, avondale, az 85323, (623) 298-1200) who were unable to identify the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.
Seems the check engine light comes on and off and when taken to the dealership. They cant find nothing wrong with it. The check engine light can stay on for days and the engine runs ruff. When this is told at the dealership they say they cant find anything. This light is on when the car is running weather its sitting still or driving.
Was driving on the freeway and just lost engine pressure and the light came on and engine died. Popped the hood and saw oil all on the passenger side of the motor. Towed it to the dealer and they said it was the engine and its not covered. Saw the recall god them about it and they did nothing but tell me the cost.
It's running different makes strange noise and has engine light on.
My 2016 kia soul is under a recall due to burning oil that wrecked the candle at a converter in has the potential of throwing a rod. I threw a rod and took it to the dealership in the dealership is trying to say it's like a mint maintenance not the actual problem of the burning oil which is a cause for lawsuits towards kia. The dealership and kiaare refusing to fix the car even knowing it is under a recall and what happened to my car is part of the recall. I have talked to the dealership in i have talked to people at the kis at customer careandthey are refusing to fix it.
When i accelerate my car makes a loud humming noise and will not shift - then when it finally does shift it fluctuates speed and doesn't maintain speed. It's not safe gettin on the expressway or when you change lanes and try to keep up with traffic around you. At first it would be sometimes. Now it is more constant
I will start this report with saying how utterly appalled i am with the "service" that kia has provied regarding this safety issue. I was driving my 2.0 liter 2016 kia soul at 70mph on a highway with my child in the backseat when my engine seized and started knocking. It slowed down to 40mph within seconds and it is only by the grace of god that i was able to pull the car over and turn onto a country backroad before it just shut off completely. We immediately had it towed to a bodyshop optimistic that it was just a minor issue. Turns out we couldnt have been more wrong. Low and behold the engine had a piston rod that fell out of place causing the knocking and the engine to start leaking oil at an accelerated rated through the catalytic converter. The bodyshop was nice enough to check for recalls for us and found one that fits our issues exactly. But what do you know its only for the 1.6 liter engine and ours wont be covered because its a 2.0...even though its the same problem. So we then go on to filing a claim with kia customer service and paid to have to car towed to a kia dealership so they could diagnose what we already knew. Again hopeful that they would see the issue and offer to pay for it under goodwill since it is so common a problem throughout most all of their cars. I was beside myself when they came back and said that it wasnt the same problem at all, even though this mirrors the recall issues to a t. Well we escalated the claim through consumer affairs they came back and still denied that this was an issue with their car. We are now having to look at taking legal actions to get this taken care of because us being a young couple with children we do not have the $8,000-$12,000 it will take to replace an engine that should have never blown. We kept up with oil, it was under 80,000 miles, and had not had any issues prior to this incident. Please recall this.
My husband was driving the car and had just pulled onto the interstate and he heard a "pop" sound, so he pulled over to check it out. When he got out and opened the hood the engine was on fire and engulfed the whole car. There was no warning anything was wrong prior to him hearing the sound. It never lost power, never had any smoke coming from under the hood, never a check engine light, over heating light, low oil pressure light, nothing. It was running 100% fine. The car is a total loss, and i am just thankful he stopped and got out and is safe and did not have our children in the car with him at the time this occured.
The engine light is starting to appear more frequently this started about two years ago and every few months would appear and the oil would be a little low and more recently after oil changes... I had brought the car in late last year to check on the recall of the engine & mentioned concern... I was told everything was fine and this problem started occurring while before i reached 100,000 miles... I've been waiting over two weeks for an appointment and have one scheduled for july 14 which i made over two weeks ago when the problem occurred once again and i had my mother in the car 90 year old... I've been told by the kia dealership that everything was good however it appears that this is put me in a situation that could be extremely dangerous if all the oil burns off or there are other issues similar to the below ...optima hybrid, 2012 sportage, 2012ā€“2013 sorento, and 2012ā€“2013 forte and forte koup with the 2.4-liter theta ii engine; and the 2014ā€“2015 forte, forte koup, and soul with the 2.0-liter nu engine. Kia will notify owners starting on january 27, 2021. Dealers will inspect the engine compartments of affected vehicles, make repairs, and potentially replace engines. Kia also intends to carry out a software update to add a knock sensor detection system as soon as possible, and the nhtsa report states that kia will provide 15-year/150,000-mile warranty coverage for engine repairs needed "due to connecting-rod bearing damage." kia will also reimburse owners for any repair expenses already incurred related to the problem, nhtsa's report says...just to recap we can't get an appointment till the 14th they're trying to squeeze me in earlier i'll know next tuesday however i have just paid off my kia after five years and was hoping to enjoy many more years... I'm very disappointed that the safety of the car and the drivers and the owners are not of the upmost importance something should be done immediately for their loyal customers... Car has only 34k miles. Had it for two months now.hasn't had it's first oil change. However, the oil light comes on and blinks then shuts off, does this every time i drive or in idle. I put 4 qts of oil in the car a week ago. There is no reason the oil needs to be filled again. I'm going to have to put additional 4 quarts of oil again. There is no leaks, no burning or anything else. I'm worried about the engine blowing up or catching on fire. There was a recent recall on this car but i have no idea why i am not being told, or informed. The engine is usually quiet, but when the oil light blinks, it's also accompanied by a knocking sound. Kia is aware of this issue and we're sued by customers for the same issue. This is a big problem that kia has not attempted to redress. This issue happens while driving up to and over 40mph, while at a stop, and while driving under 10mph
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power in the middle of the road. The vehicle would not restart and was towed to bob bell kia (7900 eastern ave, baltimore, md 21224, (410) 766-3600), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling), although the failure was similar. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,500.the vehicle overheated, stalled in the street and would not restart. The oil leaked out of the vehicle. I had the vehicle 7900 eastern ave. Baltimore, md 21224. I was called on 17-jun-2019 and i told that i had to pay $139 before they would look at it. On 18-june-2019, i was told that my engine had no oil in it. I was no longer under warranty and i had to pay $8, 373.47 for a new engine.
Engine loses 3 quarts of oil between scheduled oil changes. Started at around 70k miles and is getting worse (now at 90k miles). There is no indication of low oil or problem in the driver controls. No smoke from burning oil. This is a safety hazard as the engine can die suddenly with no warning. I have two of these cars and both have the same problem. This should be investigated as there are many of these cars on the road and it is clearly a design flaw.

Has a small miss in the engine since i bought it july 2016. The dealership can't find the problem. Just a small hesitation.
I was driving my vehicle on the interstate (i-90 wb) on 10/11/2019 at approx 70 mph.my engine started to lose power then i saw smoke coming from under my hood.i immediately pulled off the interstate and checked under the hood.my engine was on fire and eventually, the vehicle went into flames. The car was destroyed by the fire.
Blown engine after some work was done under current recall (catalytic converter replacement)
Catilac converter. Kia refused to fix says not a recall. But 2017 kia manufacturing says it's a recall and now my check engine light appears and that needs to be fixed
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving 80 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to rimrock kia located at 4040 king ave w, billings, mt 59106, (866) 979-1682, where the contact was informed that the ecu system software needed to be updated. The software was updated however, the contact was also informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was informed of failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Car engine light came on. Diagnostic was run by private mechanic. The code that popped indicated that it could be a catalytic converter problem.mechanic dropped a camera on and the catalytic converter has melted due to what he assumes is excessive heat. Mechanic indicates that this does not make sense given the low mileage of the vehicle.
I had 2 recalls carried to university kia, huntsville alabama. Days later the car broke down had to have it towed back to said dealer to find out original service coordinator was fired told he was not performing recalls. My car has been back at dealer for 8 days now not fixed was told converter was stopped up and computer had not been upgraded. Leaving us with no transportation to get back and forth to work. Need help!! please
My 2016 kia soul has check engine light malfunction. No mechanic has determined what is the cause and how to correct this matter. The car has problems with idling, and performance. The car has only 37k miles. After spending over $300, i was told sorry we have no answer. Just ignore the problem. What happens if it causes a fire or breaks down on the highway? the internet is inundated with the same issue. Kia dealerships can't see my car, because they have too many recalled cars for engine fires. What if my car explodes??? catches fire? there is something wrong with this car. I want it recalled.
Upon parking my car i noticed the engine was on fire. Smoke and flames were coming from up under the hood. The car was declared a total loss by my insurance company and the fire was deemed electrical in nature.
2016 kia soul 2.0l serviced regularly running full synthetic. Oil changed 10/1/2020, on 10/19/2020 the oil was checked in the morning and full at that time, on wednesday 10/21/20check engine light came on - code was po441 which is an evap issue, but car started knocking pretty bad while driving on the highway. Pulled into gas station immediately and checked the oil and the oil had disappeared completely, not even registering on the dip stick.tried to add oil at this point but it was too late the engine had thrown a rod.
Damaged engine due to oil system issue. Dealership serviced ever since purchase. During the first mile of the last drive a engine noise began. The vehicle was immediately stopped and engine shut off. Upon further inspection, the oil showed low and it is believed that the engine spun a bearing. Car does not have any leaks, no burning oil out of the exhaust.the vehicle iswithin oil change factory recommendation and only 65 thousand miles on motor. Vehicle speed was 25 mph on a city street.
Bought used nov2020. June 2021 took for a long road trip. Daily car use is less than 10 miles a day. So a long road trip should be fine. Got regularly scheduled oil change 1 month before trip, according to them no major problems with vehicle to take long drive. Drove over 1200 miles in a weekend, oil light came on, the check engine light immediately after. Stopped at gas station to put oil in allow to cool. Not over heating but wanted to allow to cool. Turned on car, check engine light and oil light still on. Then it went pop and i was stranded. It wouldnā€™t start.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed her of nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The contact took the vehicle to bramlett kia (3326 us-31, decatur, al 35603, (866) 750-3933) where initially only a system update was performed on the vehicle. The contact was informed that the only way the catalytic converter could be replaced per the recall was if the service engine indicator illuminated. The engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle was serviced by the dealer. The contact stated that the pistons continued to knock on the vehicle and the dealer refused to service the vehicle due to the pistons not being included in the recall. On another occasion, while driving 70 mph, the engine stalled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 101,710.
2016 kia soul high oil consumption now i am losing power it will stall at 60 down to 40 while driving on the highway . Was told my car was not recalled for the same problems of other recalls pertaining to this car. When it was under warranty they refused to do anything now at 83,400 they told me that my warranty has ended .
While accelerating on the highway the engine suddenly stopped running and would not restart.after over it was discovered that a piston broke and poked through the crank case causing major oil loss.
I have a 2016 kia soul, base model 1.6l. Attaching recall notice, as i do not know the number (there have been 2 that i know of) after receiving product improvement campaign notice dated 4/6/2021, i notified my kia dealership in which i purchased the vehicle (7301 new lagrange rd, louisville ky 40222) and was told the next available appointment to do the recall update was 2 weeks from when i called, i asked if it was safe to drive since the recall is about engine fires and my engine light was on. I was told it would be fine, this was a "software update" but unfortunately, the rate at which my engine was burning oil, the day before my schedule recall appointment (5/11/21), my engine apparently blew while i was driving on the hwy. Prior to the smoke coming out the back, i heard clicking and then what seemed like something shooting out from the bottom of my car. The oil that i had put in (even though i was not due for an oil change) was leaking as they towed my kia to the dealership. I did not hear back about my car until i reached out for the 3rd time friday 5/14/21, where the tech told me i needed a replacement engine and kia motors will not cover it, stating it was because "there is an open recall for my engine and i had not had the recall completed" i have opened a case with kia customer affairs. Kia service center was unable to give me the date that the recall started.i do know that my car was serviced for a recall prior to this, 3/31/2020, in which there had been so much damage to the catalytic converter, it needed replaced. That was covered under the recall apparently, but for some reason this most recent recall is now showing that it is no longer open according to my vin on the nhtsa website. So the dealership must have cleared it, but still claims it was not completed so that they are refusing to replace my engine, quoting me $6.3k should be covered 100%
I was driving home on the sepulveda pass which is a 45-50 mph zone and suddenly my car lost power and from going 45mph i as going uphill at 10mph. I then lost all control and my battery died. I got towed to a mechanic and said it was an alternator problem at first then said it was the catalytic converter. I then had a sensor change and new battery bought when those two things weren't the problem.
While driving my kia soul on a city road i pulled over to let a car pass. I was still in gear and once the car passed i went to pull back on to the road and the car would not move. I then noticed that it had stalled.we tried to start it again but it would not turn over. No leaking oil and the oil was full. I do a full synthetic oil change every 3-4000 miles. We then towed it to our kia dealer. They said that the engine seized. After some research i found out about the recall for the engines and the problems. After 2 months they just informed me that it doesn't fit the recall. Even though the engine clearly falls within the parameters of the chronic problems.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving 60 mph, the contact heard an abnormal knocking noise without warning. The vehicle lost power and the contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road where smoke was noticed coming from the hood. There were no flames; however, the fire department was contacted anyway. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact to take the vehicle to university kia of durham (5105 durham-chapel hill blvd, durham, nc 27707, (919) 572-1700). The dealer diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
3/19/2019 vehicle was taken in for loss of power, was told catalytic convertor needed replacing, it was replaced and vehicle was fixed8/5/2019 vehicle was taken in for loss of power and shifting, was told catalytic convertor needed replacing. There are recalls on 1.6 engine but not 2.0 engine, as i was told, so 4.5 months later i an having to replace the convertor again.spoke w/kia seems to be a run around, keep telling me it take 2 - 3 bus days, as of this its been 6 days
The car was being driven on a city street. The car began to make knocking noise coming from the engine. As i accelerated, the knocking noise would increase. The noise would continue even if the car was doing a turn. Also being stationary, the vehicle would be with that knocking noise.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and went into limp mode. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact drove to an auto parts store where it was diagnosed that there was an emissions failure. The contact called haddad kia (located at 5445 gasoline alley dr, bakerfield, ca 93313, (661) 398-0264) and was informed that they would send a tow truck to have the vehicle towed to their facility. The dealer diagnosed that the catalytic converter failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired under warranty. In addition, the contact was concerned of an oil failure. At 5,961 miles, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for service and the contact was informed that the oil was a quart low. At 57,000 miles, the vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who stated that the oil was a quart low. The contact called haddad kia and was informed to schedule an appointment for the next scheduled oil service. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine, and engine cooling). The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer for the recall repair, and the cop and ecu were upgraded. The contact was concerned with the failure of the engine and felt that the dealer should have replaced the engine and catalytic converter. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case numbers: 13188706 and 13188698. The approximate failure mileage was 47,937.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact experienced multiple failures with the vehicle and stated that the steering control module, electrical system, and catalytic converter became defective without warning. The contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 17v608000 (steering) andnhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling); however, the vin was not included in the recalls. Also, while the vehicle was idling, the engine shook and a sulfur odor emitted from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to first kia (2081 1st st, simi valley, ca 93065, (805) 624-4044), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 42,000.
My car experienced a complete loss of power. Making it impossible to travel over 50 mph. No check engine light or code thrown. Brought to kia dealership and after 3 weeks discovered the catalytic converter was clogged and melted. Replaced 90 days ago. Second is now destroyed and melted. Wants to install the third. Says motor is fine, not running rich or lean. Nothing they can do for me and they just have to keep up with this $3,000 repair every 3 months as it fails. Vehicle is completely unsafe to drive. Converter being clogged causes it to shut down on the highway. Kia says nothing they can do, just need to keep replacing the converter every few months. A converter rated to last 10+ years. Highly unusual. Spoke to other mechanics and they believed there was a recall on my converter for this reason but my bin shows no recall. Please help.
I leased a 2016 kia soul ! for my daughter. At the end of the lease (august 2018), i paid purchased the vehicle from the kia. 31 may 2019 while driving her car the engine seized in the middle of the road.it was towed to dutch miller kia of charlotte.the car had 51,188 miles. After a week the dealer told us the car wasn't going to be covered under warranty.i then filed a complaint with kia customer relations who reviewed the case and did nothing to help.i spoke with the service manager, brant blackwelder who agreed to speak with the district service manager to see if there was anything that could be done.on 26 june, they stated they would extend a "good faith" offer of replacing the engine, but i would be responsible for the labor ($1,700 estimated).during the 3 months it took to rebuild the engine, i was forced to pay for alternate transportation and paid $1,517.47 in rental car and lyft fees.the car has had regular oil changes as directed by the maintenance minder.the last oil change was in january when the vehicle had 44,586 miles (6,6602 miles ago).there were no indications the engine was low on oil: the maintenance minder, check engine light, nor the low oil light ever came on.during my conversation with the service manager on 25 june, he admitted that kia engines have a problem with burning excessive amounts of oil even after as little as 2,000 miles from an oil change.at no time did kia disclose this issue of engines burning oil to me or other owners.while this car has the 2.0-liter engine that isn't currently under recall, i believe this is a similar case to the 379,000 kia 1.6-liter engines that have been previously recalled.kia is simply passing the blame on to customers for a known issue with their faulty engines. This issue is similar to the 1.6l engines needs to be recalled.
In motion going about 50 miles per hour when vehicle made a kind of crackling noise and felt a slight sputtering like it was going to stall. Pulled over immediately to check engine. After checking fluids while vehicle was off started vehicle again. Immediately heard even louder crackling and clanking noises. Turned it off again. Tried again to crank and switched into different gear to see if noise changed and it got quieter when changing heard but then when right back to loud noises. After letting it sit that afternoon had to drive it home a short distance but did so very carefully trying not to strain the engine. Then had it towed the next day to local dealership. Engine issue, broken connecting rod clanking around in engine damaged the engine block. After researching i found there was a recall for this issue but that my kia soul plus with the 2.0l engine was not included. I scoured the web looking for other plus or exclaim soul owners with similar issues and there was no shortage. I think the 2.0 l engine needs to be included with this recall issue. Thank you for your time.
November 2019 when the car almost got into 60,000 the engine light come up and took it the dealership and they say it a mistake from the computer. The only thing we can do is wait for kia give up an update. However, my light still on since that day and sometime it loses power. Today is 02/25/2020
2016 kia engine died while on cruise control on the highway at 70 mph. Prior to the straight away the route was a winding road with water on one side and a mountain wall on the other.had this happened prior to the straight away people could have been killed. Kia needs to be compelled to fix their product before it hurts some innocent person (s).
Oil light came on, pulled over to check oil. As car slowed down the oil light started to blink, the check engine light came on, and the engine started to knock and misfire. When the car got to about 15-20 mph it stalled / cut off and i had to coast to a parking lot to stop. Car turned back on, but immediately began squeaking and knocking badly. Car was towed to a shop where we were told the motor is "blown". Since all service records could not be provided kia will not honor the warranty (under 60k miles), even though the owners manual specifically states that a lack of maintenance records cannot be the sole reason warranty claims are denied.the previous version of this motor is already recalled, and this version is already suspected to be defective as well. Quoted roughly $6,000 to repair the motor, has a replacement is not available, and all motors are backordered from the manufacturer.
When my car sits for hours and you crank it and drive it and come to your first complete stop while still in drive my car will surge like its going to take off. I have taken it to kia 5 times and they never find anything wrong with it. I took it to have another shop look at it and said my converter was stopped up and had to take it back to kia for warranty work. Got to kia and they found nothing wrong again but my car is still doing this! it even has smoke come out of the tail pipe when passing someone every now and then! another problem i am having is with my sunroof, it will open but not close all the way and they are refusing to replace anything on it til the motor goes all they way out but i am having to manually close it so i am basically paying more for a car that i can not use the features on!
Right around kia announced catalytic converter recall issues with 2016 kia souls my car stopped running it was brought to a kia dealership where the muffler intake manifold was replaced for $3,000 and told it wasn't the catalytic converter despite having 90% of the listed "symptoms " of the recall.. A complaint was put in to you guys. An extended warranty catalytic overheating protection engine control unit logic to prevent overheating of the catalytic converter.was put on. Ayear later car stopped again where i was told catalytic converter and even with replacing so much damage had been done most likely to engine since it was burning so much oil that it was a temporary fix. Only way i could sell it was to get it fixed though so another $2800 was spent to replace it. Yet all the issues i have with car are exactly what the recalls state. I feel the first dealership knew this and didnt want to eat the cost of labor. My car was kept there for a few days for them to diagnose and fix which ive never had happen maybe needed overnight but never for days unless a car was at a body shop. I believe the car issues and costs relate to recall no. 19v120000 kia's number for this recall is sc176.
I was on my into work and my vehicle started to slow done on the highway. I was told something popped out under neath my vehicle and the vehicle started to smoke. Some sort of a rod that must of came off. I had this towed to our company mechanic and they said that i might have to replace the whole engine.
At about 50 mph on a main road the oil pressure light lighted up.seconds later the engine got loud and spilled a lot of oil on the road.lots of smoke came out of the engine compartment.the engine block had a huge hole.luckily the oil fumes did not ignite as the engine was not to hot, because the drive just started some minutes before.with the car we bought a warranty extension and the insurance paid for the engine replacement. The cost of the engine replacement with a used engine was more than usd 8.000.while the car was at the garage we received a recall for a ksds software updateto sensor an engine issue with excessive connecting rod bearing damage. Now kia is not willing to implement the extended 120,000 mile engine warranty due to the ksds update for the connecting rod bearing damage issue to the swapped engine.had extended e-mail communication with kia about that. Kia claims the warranty is car age/mileage related, not engine related.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer steve landers kia (201 colonel glenn plaza loop, little rock, ar 72210, (501) 404-4268) where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that they would get in contact with the dealer, which was still pending. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
On 8/4/19 i was heading to work when my car decided not to go anymore. I was at an intersection making a left turn when all of a sudden my car did not want to accelerate. I could not get passed 3000 rpms. Felt the engine rev up but would only go 30 mph. At first i thought it was me, because the whole ride everything was smooth sailing and then this happend out of nowhere. So i gave it a little more gas and could feel the engine struggling. I came to the next red light and when i started to give gas it just jerked and i rolled into the nearest gas station. Immediately shut the car off and checked the oil. Because as i accelerated at the next light once green the oil light came on and kept blinking. I just changed it two months ago! there was no smoke or burning smell. No oil under car or any other fluid. I had to have car towed home, late to work because i got a ride in. Called the dealership and they wanted to charge me 6 to 8 thousand for a new engine once diagnosed. My car is out of warranty. There are 79,000 miles on it. I have been reading articles about the same thing happening to me. There is a recall for the exact same issues but for a 1.6l. Mine is a 2.0. Why isn't the manufacturer taking any initiative to look into my size engine when i'm having the same problems. I dont have 6 to 8 thousand for this. Please investigate. Please tell me i have some sort of chance of getting anything fixed at the dealership.
Kia issued a recall for a software update. After having a kia dealer install the software update my 2016 kia soul began experiencing engine stalling. This was immediately after leaving the dealership. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they informed me that the catalytic converter was damaged, causing my issue. They are also claiming no error codes have been detected, even though my check engine light illuminated before and after the software update. My engine also had a knock before the software updated. The knock occurred during acceleration and deceleration. The dealership refuses to check for engine damage, even though the software recall states they will repair engine damage caused by the faulty software. There are also recalls on similar year kia soul vehicles that involve the faulty software and catalytic converter damage. This vehicle condition is dangerous and is going to get people injured or killed.
I was driving at 40mph and it stalled. I immediately pulled over and realized there was no oil in it.i walked two miles to walmart for oil. None of it leaked out.i recently had an oil change. The company that did the oil change found no leak and no responsibility. I filed with kia and they denied a review after two attempts to have them fix my vehicle. No leak. No oil in the driveway. No excessive ware. Then kia came out with the knock sensor and refuse to fix my vehicle still.
I was driving on the freeway at night at about 75 miles an hour on cruise control. I was passing a semi when all the sudden my car down shifted and started losing power. I quickly had to figure out how to deal with this and get off the freeway. I consider myself an experienced driver, but if my kid was driving the car when that happened...
As i was pulling out to go to work,i noticed the rpm indicator went up to 51000 rpm.i had not had this issue before.the car only had 18000 miles on it when i bought it. It has 19500 miles now.i was on the major highway in austin texas and couldn't go after than 50 mph.i almost got hit driving .in the past,i had my kia sportage repaired without issue.i am going to the kia service center in the am. I will everyone know the outcome
Was driving car and it lost power while on highway. Causing cars to swerve to avoid hitting me.after going to shop found out it was the catalytic converter.car was also burning oil and misfiring.had the 3 and 4 coil relpaced ,spark plugs , but still not able to figure out what us causing oil to burn.car had regular oil changes. Kia basically said that after i fix the coils car would be fine . Well it's not still doing the same thing. I was informed that it just needs a new engine. Kia has refused to honor warranty.
I was driving and everything seemed fine. I parked and turned off the vehicle to pick up my kid from daycare and as i was driving back home the vehicle started to stall and run high rpms. I was going about 20mph but was at 4,000 rpms. I was able to make it home and parked the car and called the dealership to have it looked at. After checking the car they found it had a bad catalytic converter and faulty battery. The converter was covered on warranty thankfully but ended up paying $600 for a battery and labor. Vehicle was purchased from the dealership with one previous owner and approximately 40k miles on it.
Soul began using excessive amounts of oil.i did all the oil changes at the dealer.while specs say every 5000 miles, we were changing it at 3000 and adding in a quart every 1000 miles between changes.car performance has dropped significantly in the last year.they said it was my plugs.the last two times in, they said it was my catalytic converter (4 yrs old; 145k miles). 1st quote was 1300. Last quote was 1600.they told me they removed it to confirm that was the problem.my son crawled under the car and flat out said they lied.it was never removed.he was the one to find that there is a recall out for kia souls specifically for this issue.the vin is not covered.i am asking that this car be added to the list as it sounds horrible and is a risk to drive.i have rented a car last week and my son is loaning me a car this week.i am attaching a picture of the converter.my son notes that if they removed it to test their conclusion, then the bolts would show signs of removal and that they would have had to weld that back pipe.**date** i am putting today's date since i do not know which date to use. It is my opinion that the excessive oil use starting a couple of years ago was the first indication that the catalytic converter was causing problems.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that the vehicle was burning an excessive amount of oil. The contact checked the oil and noticed that the dipstick was dry; however, the oil was dark after it was changed. In addition, the check engine indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to matthews auto group (3721 vestal rd d, vestal, ny 13850, (607) 584-5354) where an oil consumption test was performed. It was determined that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil, but there were no visible leaks. The dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 116,000.
The contact owned a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated when they starting their vehicle, they heard a loud knocking noise coming from their engine. The contact called and had the vehicle towedto local dealer jeffrey automotive group ( 30800 gratiot ave, roseville, mi 48066 phone: (586) 296-1300 ) who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as metal fragments in the engine pan causing the knock sensor to be replaced. The local dealer replaced the engine, however two days after the vehicle was repaired the contact stated their husband was driving 70 mph and approaching highway exit, they notice black smoking coming from the front hood of the vehicle. The contacts husband was able to drive and pull into an empty parking lot and where the contact and her husband exit out of the vehicle and distance themselves from the vehicle where they saw fair amount of sparks and fire coming from the engine. The fire department did come out and extinguish the fire.a fire report was filed. No medical treatment was need at the scene. No one was injured. The vehicle towed by the contact insurance provide where they inspect the vehicle statedthe fire was caused by oil leak from the rear of the engine and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,312.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal cracking sound detected before the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering gear and pinion plug needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was like nhtsa campaign number: 17v608000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to offer any repair assistance. The failure mileage was 70,055.
My catalytic converter has gone bad i was told its a recall issue, yet has not been reported and other vehicles same year and model have reported the same issue yet no recall has been issued.please look into this matter due to a lot of car owners are pay costly repairs for seams as a manufacturer defect.thank you
2016 kia soul /w 2.0 liter long block engine. Approximately 85k miles at the time of engine failure due to spontaneous oil loss. Vehicle had been well maintained with regular oil changes. Dealership and kia corporate refuse to provide any consideration that the failure is due to mfg. Defect despite numerous reported incidents of this exact failure.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While starting the vehicle, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine. The contact checked the oil and noticed an oil leak. In addition, fumes entered the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
My car just stopped without warning.. Kia dealership states it need a catalyst converter and 02 sensor.. No engine light came on.. It just stopped.. After they put an software for 50000 incase the engine fail.. Well my catalyst converter fail.. Without any warning
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle loss power as the contact veered to the shoulder of the road. The contact turned the vehicle off waited for a few minutes, turned the vehicle back on which resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to ricart automotive group (4255 s. Hamilton rd, groveport, oh 43125, (614) 836-5321) where it was diagnosed and determined that the exhaust manifold converter failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The contact mentioned nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) as a possible solution to the failure however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,665.
After taking my car into the dealership for a recall and an upgrade to computer software, i was traveling on the highway at 65 mph and lost power to the engine while in the middle lanes of traffic. I took the vehicle back to the dealership, and upon the completion of an inspection, they said the vehicle is safe to drive and power was restored. I was not offered a loaner car, and had to walk or use public transportation for several days.i am now experiencing the same issue again. I cannot travel out of town without the possibility of the same thing happening as a safety mechanism triggers. I have to find my own means of transportation and only travel locally. If this happens again while on the highway with more traffic i could be involved in a very serious accident. They have also not offered any form of compensation for my time loss with my vehicle. This is very difficult to deal with from day. When the safety mechanism triggers, the vehicle will barely do 35-45 mph. It takes more than 15 seconds to attain that speed which is not safe in heavy traffic or moderate traffic. The car will start as normal; however, with trying to takeoff the vehicle will not accelerate as normal. Prior to this 'upgrade' the vehicle never had issues with acceleration.
Vehicle had recall for exhaust too hot possible fire catalytic converter failure and rod end engine failure.the catalytic converter was replaced before recall and now 2yrs 10mo later has failed again?towed to dealership and my assumption was correct and catalytic converter bad again.now filed kia complaint#14131010 and am waiting but spoke with service manager and waiting but pretty sure they're not going to cover even after failure of converter before and after their recall.i was driving on u.s.19 in florida and vehicle just immediately failed with no power and no limp mode at approximately 4-5mph,was almost rear ended in a bad accident from this malfunctioning and what is said in kia's words that limp mode would come on and vehicle could be driven at 1800-2200rpm and 65mph.not true more like 500rpm and 5mph.very dangerous possible deaths from this failure.
I was getting dinner, and i admit that i pulled out rather swiftly and punched the gas, cause people in my area are very aggressive, however having the engine stall, should not have happened,or should i say my engine took a turn for the worst and stopped working for good.so here i was stalled in the middle of a busy hwy and people were honking and going around me.this was not a spot where i could just pull over.so i pushed the car to the next perking lot.i almost got hit initially and almost broke both my ankles trying to push this over sized toy vehicle.towed it to the shop and i got a $6000 bill for a clunked engine.now, prior to all this i didn't do many oil changes, however, how could i when the oil kept burning up.this always puzzled me as to why i kept having to put oil in it,with no visible oil leaks.i think that this engine also had a problem similar to the 192vwhatever engine.i think i had 130,000 miles on this vehicle, but i had no other problems with it.it may have had a lot of where and tear on it,but it should never have done this much damage.i think the,"nhtsa" should do some investigating on this and i will get to the bottom of this for everyone that had this problem.
Driving to work at 60 mph car felt like cat converter malfunctioned. Pulled over immediately and by the time i put my car in park smoke was billowing out of engine compartment with in 5 mins front of my car was fully engulfed
While driving sometime the car seem to lose speed and after a while it's picks back up.. My engine light come on sometime.. I took it to dealership it reads a code of 420 catalytic converter.. It's have decrease in speed..
Driving vehicle approximately 35-45 miles per hour on city street - load noise under engine, it started knocking, loss of power, large puddle of oil under vehicle.had to be towed home.prior to failure - no lights/warningskia soul + with 2.0 enginefound following information for the 1.6 l engine - i suspect it is occurring on the 2.0l engines also nhtsa recall #140711nhtsa compaign #19v120000mfg compaign #sc176removed oil pan and found piston closest to the passenger side tire destroyed and in oil pan.rod punctured front and rear of block.vehicle has 88,439 miles2nd owner so 100,000 mile warranty not applicablei have to fix the vehicle now - cannot wait for solution on this - curious if the above listed recall is modified to include 2.0 engines, what is the possibility of the costs being covered?
At first there was a gurgle that started when accelerating. Then the vehicle would stall out when put in drive. Following that, when parked if i turn on and off the a/c the car will accelerate itself, i've only let it reach 4rpm before i shut it off the ignition because it doesn't go down on it's own.i've had it looked at and i was told there was an extreme amount of oil inside my engine and it's just a matter of time till it dies. This problem was recently recalled for engines a year make before mine. But i am having the same issues.
In 2020 kia motors america sent letters about a product improvement campaign. This'campaign" was intended to update software for a knock sensor system (ksds) that detects vibrations indicating the onset of excessive connecting rod bearing wear in the engine. Per letter "the ksds is designed to alert the vehicle driver at an early stage of bearing wear before the occurrence of severe engine damage including engine failure". I never received this letter. I never knew that there was a severe issue with my car, my check engine lights never came on. I took my car in to car pros kia in huntington beach a couple months ago for a transmission fluid change and they never told me anything was wrong or that this product improvement campaign was available. On 6/1/2021 my car died out of nowhere. I took the car to kia where they filed a claim for a new engine per the product improvement campaign but it was denied. Dan boyer, supervisor from kia motors america claims department told me the deadline was 4/16/21. This date isn't on any letter they sent. After searching, i realized that these letters are available for the public to view. I realized that one letter from 3/21/2020 states in bold underlined format "we would, however, like to assure you that there is no immediate need to have this software update performed". Clearly this is incorrect information, getting this software update is crucial-your engine will be damaged if the rod bearings are damaged as mine was. Kia motors expected me to bring my car, despite i never received a letter, i had no idea there was product improvement campaign surrounding this issue, and expected people to bring their car in for it in the middle of a pandemic. Now i can't go to work, my livelihood is at stake, and they want me to pay $6,000 out of pocket + any other fee associated without taking any responsibility on the matter.i'm seeking assistance in making things right, i'm looking for compensation, and awareness about this corporation.
On/around august 13, 2021 i went to get an oil change and safety recall performed for the 1.6l engines to protect it from excessive connecting rod bearing damage at a kia dealer. It was performed in the am drove it pretty much all day. The next morning 8.14.21 in the am drove it for roughly 1hr parked then decided to move the car out of the sun the car would not start. I could put it in the acc and on positions to work the radio and windows etc. But it would not start. I was there for 1.5 hrs. Then i tried the car again and it started as if nothing was wrong. I drove it for 1 week no issues, then on 08.21.21 i was waiting at a red light when the light turned green i could not move as the car shut down with no warning or warning lights. I put the car in park and then tried turning on the vehicle again it started no issues, i was nervous and scared because we, my daughter and i, were at a very busy intersection not knowing if the car was going to start again. On 08.22.21 i tried starting the car and it took a while for it start as well but started. On 08.23.21 i called the kia dealer and let them know what happened and took it to them on 8.24.21 in the am. They were not able to replicate the problem but adjusted the values and said that there were no shut off codes indicated and that was a good sign. I was able to drive it all morning then at 3:15pm it would not start then at around 4:45pm i tried it again and the car started. When it started the stability control light was on and pressing the button to turn it off would not turn it off. I drove it about 5 minutes parked it turned the car off, when i started the car again the stability control light did not come on. I drove it around for a little then called a different kia dealer and explained the situation so i dropped the vehicle off to the dealer on 8.24.21 in the overnight drop where it currently is where they are charging 139 dollars to diagnose the problem the car has approx 162329 miles
My husband was exiting the highway when the engine began to sputter and then "explode" into a cloud of smoke from the engine and tail pipe.there was a oil smell.the car was towed to the local firestone where my husband was told the engine now has a hole in it.just a few months ago the engine was worked on because one of the cylinders had frozen.recalls were taken care of prior to our moving to dallas from san antonio.if there were more needed, we received no notification despite having service done on this vehicle several times over the past year. My husband could have been on the highway when the engine blew and ended up in a major accident.there were no warning lights to indicate the car had a problem before it blew.
I received recall notice for the engine control unit that can cause catalytic converter to go bad and can cause oil leak. I took my car in cause the check engine light and my car failed emissions i told them it was catalytic converter and i had a major oil leak they fixed the ctalytic converter and told me that the oil leak is because my gasket is messed up and if i pay for an oil change they will fix it and i wont have any more oil leaks well its 2 weeks later and my oil light is coming back on they are crooked and i know they are going to give me a hard time about it since i already had my catalytic converter fixed...the oil started leaking at same time check engine light was coming on so i know that it has something to do with catalytic converter over heating and in recall and kia told them if engine needs replaced they need to do it. I have an appoinment at 7:30 on 6/12 with kia of coatseville i need to know what i need to do to get them to fix my vehicle its costing me money to take off work to get this done
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated at start-up. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved a dtc fault code regarding the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unsuccessful. The failure mileage was 66,292.
My car is 2016, its 18 months old has 19k miles and the only thing done to the car was oil changes which were performed at the dealer where i bought my car. On jan 19, 2018 my car stop working while driving 45 miles an hour on the street. It happened on nw 36th street going east in miami, florida zipcode 33166 when towed to the dealer was told on the following monday the piston push the rod block and the engine lock up. Its still at the dealer. On monday it will be a month. And even though i am driving a rental ( which the dealer is paying for) they have no idea when the car will be fixed. Everything is under warranty. My concern is how can this manufacture build cars which their engines lock up after less than 2 years. Thank god i was not driving in an expressway. I am beyond scared to drive this kind of car again.
(mn) engine threw a rod at 80,000 miles. I was told by a mechanic who performed a diagnostic reading that the knock sensor (po...26) was faulted and that there was a recall for an engine issue, therefore i should look into it to see if this vehicle was included. Upon reading articles and complaints the exact issue that happened with my 2016 kia soul is what is described, however, my vin # does not seem to fall within the production of this but i don't think this is accurate, the issue definitely seems relative.
The kia soul 1.6 engine has been recalled due to oil consumption related to excessive catalytic converter heat. I submit to you that the investigation needs to be expanded to include the 2.0 engine. I believe specifically related to the special edition cars that have the larger sized wheels standard wheel is 16" these come with 18" and i believe that these vehicles are subject to the same issue as the 1.6 due to the engine working harder to provide power to run the 18" wheels. I have so far suffered extreme oil loss on 4 occasions. They have done oil consumption tests and required me to bring my vehicle in at my inconvenience a great number of times. With one time having th oil down by 1 quart. But outside of this i have had it go down on me outside of these tests on those 4 occasions so that the dip stick barely had oil on it and my engine was tapping. Only once did the check engine light come on and stay on and another time i happened to see it blink once. This extreme oil loss on these special edition 2.0 vehicles will lead to the same issues as experienced on the 1.6 engine. And so far as i am concerned i am now paying monthly payments on a vehicle that must have internal damage as a result of this manufacturing error. Please consider further review of these vehicles as they relate to the 2.0 engine and special editions with larger wheels. If you would like i do have a video of the oil level on my dipstick from this past saturday that i can also send. Please believe me this is a recurring dangerous situation that is being overlooked> i have a 2010 kia soul which does nto have the new technology and ive had no issues with that car and it has about 150k miles. I also run a scion xb that i have maintained and it has over 220k miles. My cars are cared for and ive never seen anything like this before
While i was driving the engine died. I was able to restart and get home but the motor had a knocking sound. I took car to dealer, they said engine was bad and there were recalls on it. They did did some recall work but said the engine wasn't covered because i didn't get the recall work done sooner.
Vehicle is using oil.bought extended warranty and around 60,000 miles, took it to dealership.was told it's normal for it to use oil.i'm having to add 1-2 quarts of oil every 800-1000 miles.it also runs very rough and was told since it's not throwing a code, they can't do anything about that.i've had all routine maintenance done and have the oil changed regularly.there is significant blow-by when engine is running and the oil cap is off.again, i was told this is normal.i know this isn't right.i'm approaching my 100,000 mile warranty and i think they just keep telling me everything is normal, waiting for me to pass the warranty mileage.not impressed at all with kia customer service.they do not stand behind their product.
After taking the car to my mechanic for an oil change, i was advised to take the car to the dealership because the engine was making a loud banging sound on start up. My mechanic had the vehicle over night and the engine was started cold in the morning on a quiet street. I had noticed that week, that while idling at red lights, it felt as though the car was stalling. The dealership had the car for two full days and were unable to replicate the banging sound and so could not do anything. The car went back to my mechanic for an oil change, which they completed and again had the car over night. When i picked it up, they mentioned that the banging sound had ceased; however, he mentioned that the engine was still "missing" on start up and while idling. Given the recent incidents with kia motors, am i just waiting for my car to catch on fire to be included in the recalls? it appears that only the 1.6 liters trim level is currently included (base model).
The contact owned a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle began to make an abnormal knocking noise, a burning odor was detected as the vehicle began to lose power as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and left the vehicle on the side of the road. The next day, the contact's fianc attempted to meet a tow truck driver at the scene where the vehicle was left; however, upon arrival, the vehicle was gone. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where they discovered that the vehicle was burned to ashes. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. A police report nor a fire report was filed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was 66,186.
Recall 19v120000; sc176excessive oil consumption. Manufacturer will not honor warranty and is aware of problem. I am being told costs involved with this issue are not warranty and to be paid out of pocket despite known problem.
Check engine light came onwhile driving took it to kalidy kia checked codes did an up grade of cataylic software upgrade found faulty cataylic converter the dealership kept my car no i have no transportation
Last month i took my car to the dealership for an ecu update which kia is calling a 'product improvement campaign' for the cars computer system to put it into limp home mode, now a month later while on my way home from work when i turned onto a street 2 nights in a row the oil light was flashing but went off after i made it through the turn, and i checked the oil level the second night and the dipstick had little to no visible oil on it but the oil light still does not illuminate when driving or when idiling only when turning with momentum, but the 2.0 engines are known to destroy themselves due to rod bering damage and that update they did served to five and early alert as to when it detects knock but these engines are also known to burn oil and the 2014-2015model years are recalled for engine fires but kia should recall all these engines since they burn oil and are dangerous to drive because the oil light is not illuminating when the oil is critically low and now engine damage may already be present on top of the known defect in these engines.
Transmission started slipping while driving. Then transmission slipped while going 45 and engine red lined then died. Would not restart.
The cars engine stalled will driving.car has oil. Not oil related.not sure why engine is gone.i have to replace engine.
While sitting in traffic my car began to shake and then stalled and turned off. It was able to restart and then later while driving down the interstate it began to stop accelerating when i pressed the gas. Fortunately i was able to make it to the shoulder from the left lane as car slowed to a stop and the break pedal locked up. The car would not turn on any more. After mechanic inspection, they reported that a piston had melted in the engine and because the oil had dried up, even though the car had its last oil change two months ago.
While driving my 2016 kia soul going approx 60mph my car sort jerked like it was gonna stall but didn't stall instead flashed the oil light symbol several times and then the check engine light came on. I pulled over just in time for the car to stall on the side of the hwy andthe car was making a rattle sound under the engine when cranked so i left it off. The next day i towed it to a kia dealership and was advised that the engine needed to be replaced due to a rod coming loose in the engine which would cost upwards of $6500-$7000. Which is half of what i owe the bank on the car upon doing some online research i see that well over 616,000 other cars like mines have reported the same issue and kia has recalled the 1.6 liter engine but not the 2.0 liter engine in my car. With all their cars having the same exact issue kia needs to recall all of these faulty engines and fix them free of charge. Further research stated that the manufacturer of these engines has had recalls of their engines in kia's and hyundai's since 2012 and there are several class action lawsuits from angry customers. Please issue a recall.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the contact slowed down then merged into another lane when the vehicle decelerated inadvertently and would not accelerate above 2 mph. Another vehicle crashed into the middle of the front and rear passengerā€™s side door frames of the vehicle, which caused the doors to not be able to open. No medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the catalytic converter was clogged. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer spradley kia (2145 hwy 50 west, pueblo, co 81008) and a product improvement campaign and ecu software update was performed however, the failure recurred. The contact was made aware that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) however, the dealer spradley kia did not perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that previous vehicle owner had not taken the vehicle in for the recall repair. The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 122,698.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving 55 mph and attempting to accelerate to pass a semi-truck in the left lane, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the overheating warning light was illuminated. The contact exited the highway and parked on the side of the roadway. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired however, the repair was pending. The contact towed the vehicle to her residence. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) however the vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,187.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the contact noticed that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine, and engine cooling). Upon retrieving the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with the catalytic converter needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 128,500.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving approximately 25 mph, a knocking sound was heard from the engine compartment and the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was driven to gerald kia of naperville (1661 aurora ave, naperville, il 60540) where it was determined that the catalytic converter failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
My vehicle has a check engine light on. In an attempt to repair the code was identified as a catalytic converter failure. My engine is burning oil excessively now. The costs are far beyond my means to repair despite meticulous maintenance.
The lights flickered and i lost both head lights. Head light bulbs keep going out randomly.sometimes both at the same time.i have replaced them 4 times this year.
My headlights flicker when i'm driving. Sometimes they shut completely off and don't come back on for several seconds. I notice the problem not when i use my indicators. When i flick the indicator on my headlights flicker off and on.
My blinker lights and brake and headlights always need to be replaced .and my right side blinker will not work properly no matter how many times i change it. This is a ongoing issue.
When using blinker while in motion with the lights on, the lights mess up. Sometimes the brights will flash, sometimes all vehicle lights will cut off, sometimes all vehicle lights will flash along with blinker.this started after about 6 months of owning the vehicle.
Headlights flicker during use, especially when using the turn signals.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front headlights failed to remain illuminated. The headlights independently regained normal function after a while. Also, on several occasions, while the vehicle was turned off, the headlights were erroneously turned on without driver input. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. An unknown dealer was contacted, and a service appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated with headlights flashing independently. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle temporarily operated as designed. The failure recurred and the headlights failed to illuminate. The contact drove the vehicle to the residence with the hazard lights flashing. Kia of bowie located at 16620 governor bridge rd, bowie, md 20716, (301)-820-7500 was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed to bring the vehicle in to be diagnosed however, a loaner vehicle would not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 37,770.
1st issue the malfunction indicator lamp came on. Car has 44k miles on it. The car has loss of power and cuts off when trying to accelerate. The gas mileage has dropped considerably and the engine is running extremely hot
Gas mileage stated is nowhere even close to what's stated on either city or highway. I would guess 10-15% off
I was on my into work and my vehicle started to slow done on the highway. I was told something popped out under neath my vehicle and the vehicle started to smoke. Some sort of a rod that must of came off. I had this towed to our company mechanic and they said that i might have to replace the whole engine.
I experience intermittent hesitation when pressing on the accelerator.it feels like the car isn't downshifting correctly or isn't getting enough fuel in order to pick up speed. I took the car to the kia dealer service department and they said they didn't find any problems and couldn't duplicate the issue. The car continues to intermittently hesitate when accelerating. This happens in all driving conditions.
My car just stopped without warning.. Kia dealership states it need a catalyst converter and 02 sensor.. No engine light came on.. It just stopped.. After they put an software for 50000 incase the engine fail.. Well my catalyst converter fail.. Without any warning
Vehicle lost power while driving engine light came on steering wheel got hot
As i was pulling out to go to work,i noticed the rpm indicator went up to 51000 rpm.i had not had this issue before.the car only had 18000 miles on it when i bought it. It has 19500 miles now.i was on the major highway in austin texas and couldn't go after than 50 mph.i almost got hit driving .in the past,i had my kia sportage repaired without issue.i am going to the kia service center in the am. I will everyone know the outcome
My car, which is under 5000 miles, had one of its fuel lines decay or chewed by an animal.the location of the damage was on top of the engine.before i discovered the defective fuel line, my car had been running just fine, with no warning indicators in the dashboard.the fuel was leaking out dangerously close to the hot engine, as the part that was damaged was near the top of the engine.the vehicle was in motion driving under normal conditions when i discovered it.the smell of gasoline was very strong both in and outside the vehicle.i was told by kia that this will not be covered under warranty.furthermore, i was told by their own customer relations representative that their fuel lines are made out of a material called paraffin, which is a wax like substance that animals like to chew.i was perplexed at why they use a material that is easily destroyed for such a vital component in their vehicle..
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong fuel odor inside and outside the vehicle for over two months. Also, while fueling the vehicle, fuel spilled onto the ground. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
Seems the check engine light comes on and off and when taken to the dealership. They cant find nothing wrong with it. The check engine light can stay on for days and the engine runs ruff. When this is told at the dealership they say they cant find anything. This light is on when the car is running weather its sitting still or driving.
I have a 2016 kia soul, fully loaded model. Six months after buying the car from the dealer (bought new with 8 miles), i began having problems with acceleration, from a stop or slow. The car would hesitate/lag/almost stall for 2-5 seconds, before catching and starting to speed up. I took it to the dealer. They couldn't find anything wrong with the car. I still have the car and i continue to have the same issues. I take the car in for regular oil changes and every time, have mentioned the acceleration problem and each time they say they can't find what's wrong with it. The last time i took it in, about 4 months ago, they said to put gas treatment in the tank and if i the problem persists, then bring it in to have the crankcase filter changed (this is the upsell they've been pushing on me for a year now. I have under 30,000 miles, most of which are cross-country miles. Today, i have the same acceleration problem but this time around, the check engine light comes on and the brake pedal was very spongy and difficult to slow, when breaking to pull over. I pulled over and put the car in park and let it idle to listen for any odd or unfamiliar noises. The car sounded normal. I scheduled an appointment with the dealer. This acceleration issue happens on the city streets, as well as the highway.
*dl
Purchased this vehicle cpo back in august 2018 with my wife. Approximately in november, computer tripped the check engine light. Took it in because it had turned off on its own and i found it abnormal. Service center replaced the clogged catalytic converter. Starting in december, a foul smell began to develop inside the car and slowly got worse in january. I cleaned and purged the entire car multiple times trying to find the source since it had gotten to the point that it smelled like rotten eggs. Took it in in february for this issue and the crunching sound the front began making when going over bumps and ramps. At the same time, we also reported to the service center that power would be damped while under load and going up hills. After i got back the car, they had replaced the sway arm links and told me that there was no smell. Called kia corp to report the issue and they sent out a tech. They ended up replacing the catalytic converter again and the front struts. Crunching sound from the front suspension remains as well as the smell. Contacted kia corp again and requested they buy back the car before we seek legal counsel and sue them under the california lemon law but are giving usthe run about. The person i spoke with didn't even realize that his own company was going to release a new recall regarding the catalytic converter being overheated until i pointed it out. During his whole time, my wife and i were treated as if we were crazy and they kept saying that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and have yet to fix any of the issues.
When accelerating from a complete stop the vehicle will not accelerate. Pressing the accelerator a little or a lot does not matter. The engine does not produce rpm and does not accelerate for around 3-5 seconds. There is not an engine light on. All other aspects of the vehicle work properly when this happens. The issue is intermittent, but is ongoing every day. The vehicle has been doing this from the time it had a little over 40,000 miles. It has 66,000 miles now. I have tried fuel cleaners several times but the lack of power is still persistent. This happens whether the vehicle is cold or has been hot soaked. It very dangerous when pulling into an intersection or crossing a road and the car does not accelerate properly. Sometimes when i start accelerating the engine starts to build rpm and suddenly it will loose all power. About five seconds later it comes back with a surge in power and rpm.
I have a 2016. Kia. Soul with constant problems i now have a catalog converter problems and want to know if its on recall because. I have had this vehicle less than 3 years and constant service checks.my service engine light is on and when. I took it to service they ran a check and. I was told it was a catalog converter and its expensive hi know people with. Kiss from 2015 and up and never had any trouble 91st all 18th their carbs. Is the. Kia i am driving a flooded out auto from a different city.i am on a fixed income and can't continue to afford to pay for service especially on a sort of new auto.
This is regarding high exhaust gas temperatures that may damage the catalytic converter and potentially other parts, dealers are supposed to upgrade software on all kia souls even if not recalled.the kia dealership in warrenton oregon says my car doesn't need it, i strongly disagree and wanrythis software updated asap!
Car stop working and catalytic converter blew
Catilac converter. Kia refused to fix says not a recall. But 2017 kia manufacturing says it's a recall and now my check engine light appears and that needs to be fixed
Recently, i have been experiencing problems with my pumping gas into my car. Every time i attempt to put gas in, it overflows as if it is full, but it's not. The gas cap no longer clicks when attempting to close. I can only put in no more than $5 into my tank.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to exceed 45 mph. The vehicle was pulled into a parking lot and towed to daytona kia dealer, located at 510 n nova rd, daytona beach, fl 32114, where the technician was unable to retrieve an error code. The contact performed a vin search and became aware that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The contact called the dealer back and was informed that without the error code, that only the ecu upgrade would be performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the code (p0420) was needed in order to repair the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

Car stop working and catalytic converter blew
2016 kia soul /w 2.0 liter long block engine. Approximately 85k miles at the time of engine failure due to spontaneous oil loss. Vehicle had been well maintained with regular oil changes. Dealership and kia corporate refuse to provide any consideration that the failure is due to mfg. Defect despite numerous reported incidents of this exact failure.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that due to the transmission failure, the vehicle would not allow the contact to shift gears. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with some loose wiring needing to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact then took the vehicle back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with the transmission needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact then took the vehicle back to the dealer for the third time where it was diagnosed with the catalytic converter needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that they would contact the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. On several occasions, while driving at unknown speeds, the gear shift lever independently moved out of the drive gear into neutral. The contact also stated that the gear shift lever moved to the left of the drive indicator designation and the vehicle lost power. The contact coasted the vehicle off the roadway. When the vehicle was shifted from park into drive, it operated normally. The vehicle was taken to deland kia (located at 2322 s woodland blvd, deland, fl 32720, (386) 734-7800) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure and no failure codes were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 13150055. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated that the gear shifter was not properly staying in gear and inadvertently veered to the left. The failure was causing the contact to have to maneuver the gear shift and apply the brakes to prevent a crash. Deland kia (2322 s woodland blvd, deland, fl 32720, (386) 734-7800) was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or test driven to duplicate the failure. The dealer asked the vehicle owner to video record the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was waiting to determine if the dealer would provide a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Last year i took my car to a local dealership to reprogram the pcm due to the recall notice received in the mail related to the catalytic converter overheating issue. Ever since i got that done, i now experience very high idle in cold temperatures. There was no check engine light since last year until today when it dropped below 50 degrees.the code is p050a and kia has no resolution to this problem.

Blown engine after some work was done under current recall (catalytic converter replacement)
On a highway at speed, sudden loss of power account piston connecting rod failure which punctured the engine block with total loss of oil which greatly increases risk of fire from hot exhaust components. Very similar to kia's sc176 recall, but this specific vehicle was not included in that recall.
Last year i found out that when i engaged reverse right or left a grinding noise was coming from the steering column area. Also when i was driving over a speed bump or in a dip a squeeking sound was coming from the back of the car. I took the car to the [kia of orange,210 katella ave.,orange,ca.92867, (714)453-3800], twice 5/6/2017 & 14/9/2017, but they couldn'tor didn't know how to fix the problems. On 1/26/2018 icalled kia corporate office in irvine (800)333-4542 and explained to "lorre" the problems that my car has and that i took it to kia of orange which they couldn't fix in addition to their bad customer service that i had anytime itook the car for service. Her response over the phone and with her emails was pathetic,in denial and supportive for the kia of orange. I will never buy a kia/junk again.

The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed numerous times for the vehicle to respond. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was later taken to steve schmitt kia located at 11655 new halls ferry road, florissant, mo 63033, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the catalytic converter failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Since day one, my kia loose communication with gas pedal to transmission or computer.from stop i accelerate, and if for any reason i ought to release the gas pedal, the transmission act like it is in neutral gear, after accelerate two or three times it accelerate abruptly.it act exactly like hiundai recall no.16v6280.i take the veh. To the dealer, i report the problem but they tell me that they does not find nothin wrong, but the problem persisted.my veh. Transmission is a 5 speed eco shift dual clutch
Driving on highway and car started slipping gears and having trouble accelerating from a stop. Oil light came on and it had no oil, added proper amount and type of oil. When idling check oil light flashes red even with proper oil level.dealership states sounds like, they currently are checking it, engine and rod issue.
I have had several instances where i have had the seat belt fasten light come on when traveling down the road. Initially i tried parking the car, turning off the ignition for 30-60 seconds, turning the car back on, and once i start moving again the indicator would come back on.what i finally realized, after doing some testing, is that if i place my cell phone on the front passenger seat towards the center of the car (placing it about 1/2 way from the from the front to the back of the seat), it will trip the system and cause the seat belt warning indicator to come on.after doing some trials, i have found, removing the cell phone from the seat and placing it either in the cup holders or the center console will actually shut off the indicator. In closing, i was utilizing the bluetooth for both hands free and navigation when this problem occurred, i also had the phone plugged into a cigarette lighter adapter (not the one for ipod).the car was moving approximately 10 mph (the default speed for the indicator to come on with the seat belt warning to come on).the chime does not turn on at all, but the seat belt indicator light will flash.
The driver and passenger seat belts do retract after the are used. The pull out but they will not retract back in the seat belt area
The front passenger seat belt does not engage easily. They think they are buckeled up until i point at the indicator light, or they buckle up and it just doesn't click like it's supposed to and they will pull it out and try multiple times until it engages.. This is all while the vehicle is stationary.. I just don't want any surprises in case of an accident, i need my passengers secured...

Takata recallthe headrests on both driver and passenger are tilted way too forward and interferes with your visual and driving, and creates unsafe conditions. The only thing my husband could do was to take them off and put them backwards which still makes it very uncomfortable and sometimes painful to your neck.this has always been since bought. No accidents and while driving.
The main part of my complaint is that the head rests lean forward so much that my head is bent downward when i am driving the car; therefore, i feel i cannot look straight ahead.i am short, but have no physical deformities that keep me from driving other vehicles safely.i sit on a cushion regardless of what type vehicle i drive.i feel the way the head rest bends my head forward is a safety hazard to me.also, the seat backs seem to have a curve and will not allow a person to sit up straight in the seat.this has been, of course, an ongoing problem since the purchase of the vehicle.my husband and i have made this complaint known to our local kia dealerships, as well as the kia manufacturer.
While driving in regenerative brake mode and coming up to a stop light, i let the regenerative brake to slow the car to around 10 km/hr then applied the normal brake to slow down the rest of the way. The brake pedal did not engage whatsoever. I did not feel any resistance and the pedal went all the way to the ground. Because i couldn't stop, i hit the car in front of me - low speed so luckily no one was hurt. There were no warning lights about brake failure either before or after the incident occurred. Pedal was floored and there was no acceleration, only mild deceleration (i.e. Still from the regenerative brakes presumably) thus i am quite confident this was not a case of pedal misapplication.
This is an electric kia soul. I drove the car into the garage. Put it in park and turned the car off. I normally put the parking brake on. I opened the charging door but did not plug it in immediately. I took groceries into the house and returned for more. As i walked back into the garage it looked like the car lurched backward. It moved 2 feet back and would have hit the garage door if it was closed. Maybe it rolled and then caught itself and looked like it lurched backward. The garage is a nearly level concrete surface. I got back in the car. It was in park. I turned on the car to move it forward but before i did, i checked to see if the parking brake was on. It was not. I may have forgotten to place it on when i pulled into the garage. I could not recall exactly but i always put the parking brake on every time i park the car. This was scary because it rolled/lurched at least 2 feet backward. I did not see any error/alert lights that there was a problem.i have owned the car almost 2 years and purchased a certified pre-owned car from an authorized kia dealer with an extended warranty.
I started complaining to the dealer that the front right side wheel doesn't seem right it seems to be spinning at a different speed as the other tires which wore the tires down and the the brakes to wear. The front end shakes back and forth while driving. They tightened the bolts that secure the body to the frame. But it only feels somewhat fine for a couple of weeks. I took it to 3different kia dealers and all have said there's nothing wrong and there is no safety issue, but it sure doesn't feel it. It seems like they just want to get it past the warranty. They installed new software for the engine knock to monitor it but it seems worse since they installed it. My car feels like it's falling apart. I even called kia headquarters and they said they go by what the technicians say, if they say there isn't anything wrong then there must not be. I have all my records.

Four car collision, kia soul 2016 was the first car. Slowing down for a red light on a city street, breaks did not work. There were no skid marks on road. No one was cited during the accident, officers on site had belief there were other complications rather than driver negligence.
Need help!! please

My steering wheel makes a loud squeaking since last year, 2019 and knock noise when turning. This happens when stationary, or in motion on on city street, highway, and parking. *lnconsumer stated noise is getting louder and steering has become stiffer. Because of the noise consumer decided to take 2 videos on 2/23/20. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer on 2/29/20 and had diagnostic done. 552(b)(6).

Car caught on fire. There was no accident involved. It started smoking and seconds later caught on fire. My son was driving on a city street, the car started smoking, he turned into a parking lot, got out of the car and the car caught on fire.
Purchased car with dealer promise to fix both doors. Fixed one and ignored my many requests to fix it. Door doesn't close, manager said it was from seatbelt. It actually had been broken into before purchase which he denied. Kept changing story. Led me to a mental breakdown. Still lies and refuses to help. Belittles, dehumanizes an insults me. Threatens me with even worse treatment. Accused me of having personal vendetta and suddenly my house is in foreclosure he has influenced town hall. Chad bouchard told me he knows a girl who works there after i filed police report. He wanted more info, illegally. For over a year i've begged for help. I have photos from site with 1 photo from an almost identical car without the driver's side bashed in but the damage showing that the other door doesn't close. They refuse to let me speak to anyone other than the owners son who claims to have pictures of car before damage. He has not done so because they don't exist. Oddly, after this transaction the salesman no longer works there. Don't know where it happened they passedthe inspection at the dealership. Shady!i turned down the insurance money once chad accidentally admitted to damage. Rain and ice get in. I can hear wind, whistling andit rattles. I believe they bandaided it because door did close during test drive, i believe. Salesman only let me drive it less than a mile. I don't feel safe in this car that i paid over $11,500 for. I can't sell it, traded in, etc. Not sure if it will pass inspection.
Sold damaged car by ron bouchard kia. Door doesn't close and it rains and snows inside. Said i locked my keys in car, i didn't. They fixed the bashed in driver's door but won't fix other door. Convinced me it was seatbelt damage. At dealership the nick's and dents were visible but i didn't notice the gap, salesman stood in front of it. I'm afraid to drive this car. Less than 5k in over a year. I can't find any records of damage. I saw that it was purchased at an insurance and salvage auction.
The front end creaks every time i slowly ride over a speed bump or experience dip in the road. I originally reported it to the dealership when still under warranty.i took the mechanic on a ride with me in the vehicle so he could hear the noise.he agreed something was wrong, probably with the suspension.after several visits to the dealership they could not target the reason for the creaking noise.their only quick-fix-temporary answer was to spray the entire undercarriage with lubricant.that eliminated the issue for a brief couple months, but the creaking noise quickly returned, and the vehicle is out of warranty.
It's running different makes strange noise and has engine light on.

The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving approximately 25 mph and making a right turn, the vehicle turned to the left and crashed into a curb. The incident damaged one of the tires. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (superior kia, 260 w. Mitchell ave, cincinnati, oh) and was awaiting diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving approximately 30 mph and attempting to slow down by depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle did not stop, even when the emergency brakewas applied. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The following day, the traction control warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was towed to yonkers kia (1850 central park ave, yonkers, ny 10410); however, they were not able to replicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
I lost control of my car last year and crashed into a tree.i ended up in the hospital with a broken sternum.my steering was weird right before i crashed.
I have not had a safety failure yet, just to clarify.i bought the car certified in october.it revs up to 2,500 - 3,000 upon startup, loud enough for a neighbor to come over and tell me to get it checked out.it hard-idles and shudders when it's stopped.i'm very concerned about it being unreliable, but more worried about it being unsafe with the revving.after three visits to the dealership for these issues, i'm told it's due to a bad software update from before i bought the car.they can't/won't tell me details on the update, but say that i'm lucky my car is still running because it put a lot of cars "out of commission".because it's still running, the dealership and manufacturer are refusing to help me (no fix is available, and they've refused a refund or replacement).i just need a safe and reliable car.i refuse to simply trade it in and pass the problem along to someone else.kia did not disclose the software issue in advance and isn't backing their product.i wonder how many other people have been affected.
I got a recall notice (nhtsa recall#19v120). Before i could get it looked at and corrected, ihad a problem with the car. I was on an interchange between highways and the car would barely move. I had it towed to the kia dealer i bought it from. The service advisor called the next day and told me my catalytic converter was totally plugged up. It says in my recall notice that a malfunction indicator lamp "may: illuminate. My mil did not illuminate. And because of this and the "computer " showed no code that they wouldn't cover it under the recall. Now i am very irritated.i don't care that my mil lamp wasn't illuminated, i don't care that it didn't show a code, it says right on my recall notice that they will upgrade my cop ecu logic to prevent overheating of the catalytic converter.evidently the damage to my converter was done before i could have the upgrade done. Now the device advisor told me that the computer showed no codes, so i'm curious how they new it was tha catalytic converter. I would say that there is either a problem with the computer system or kia is running some kind of a scam. The service advisor told me it would cost meover 1200 dollars plus the tow bill to fix the car, total of 1400 + dollars. I don't think it's right that i have to pay for a consumer safety recall. If i would have been on the highway doing 70 mph when this happened my wife and i could have easily been killed. I thank god this didn't happen..i talked to the service advisor and he told me that the computer showed absolutely no codes at all. According to that my car should be running fine, but it is not. Something is wrong in the computer system to not show anything and my converter is plugged. This just is not right. I would appreciate some action on this issue. I have a case number through kia for this issue. Case number is13177167. They said they could do nothing about it.
While driving condensation build up inside of my car and this happen twice. So i calledthe dealership and they said i needed to have a hose drained.
Check engine light on more than off or so it seems. Engine code p0s0a. Dealer attempts to fix. Code comes back
My kia soul was sold to me without alerting me to a safety recall. A manager at my local dealership said they've known about the recall for "some time" now. They can't get my car in to be serviced and will not provide a loaner. Although nhtsa warns the specific harm to the catalytic converter, engine, pistons and possibly harm to myself and others i have been told to continue driving it. I do not want to drive it because of the warning and they continue telling me to just drive it until they can get it in. I feel like this dealership is not concerned with safety of myself and anyone else who may be in the car. Nhtsa has said on their website that kia notified "them" so why aren't they helping their customers?
There is a known issue with the catalytic converter getting damaged by exhaust heat and it is still not on an open recall. My car vin is supposedly not affected by the issue, but i just had to have the catalytic converter and o2 sensor replaced for this issue. They know this problem can cause fire or severe engine damage if left unchecked. I can provide the repair ticket if needed.
The panic button on the key fob is not recessed so it activates when you don't want it to. I have contacted both the kia dealer where i bought it and also kia consumer affairs and both could not solve the problem. It is a design flaw. Anytime i have the key fob in my pocket it is likely to engage the panic button. It has happened 8 times. People think there is an emergency. Please let me know what nhtsa can do to correct this problem.(i previously had a 2013 kia soul and the design of the key fob was different so i never had the panic button go off by mistake.) help.
Check engine light came on. Vehicle taken into a auto shop. Told it was the catalytic converter. I saw that 2016 kia souls were being recalled with damaged catalytic converters. Wanting to know if my vehicle qualified.
After the recent recall for my vehicle's computer issue, i took my vehicle in for the repair. My car has not been used much this winter due to covid-19. The engine light has recently turned on with code po50a (cold start idle air control). This has been an issue for many after the recall. Kia says that the recall triggered this faulty engine light and it won't turn off.
When i am at a stop or going to turn from a stop my car seems to lose power when accelerating. I have called my dealership a few times and they just say it is a safety sensor in the car. I find it a safety hazard since i have almost been hit from behind taking off from stops at signal lights and stop signs numerous of times.
While trying to drive up a snow covered road i had smoke start coming into the cabin of my vehicle. I was going to pull into a gas station when someone came running over and stated that the underside of my car was on fire. The fire was extinguished and then my car was pulled off the road. It was towed to a local garage where my insurance agent went to look at it. The oil was so low that they wouldn't check it until it received an oil change. Once that was performed they were still unable to determine what caused the fire. They then had me tow it to a kia dealership. It has been at the dealership for over a month and they have determined that it is not a warranty issue. When i inquired as to what was wrong with the car they informed me that it would be $110 dollars to diagnose the vehicle. They finally went over the vehicle, but still no answers to why my vehicle caught fire and if it could possibly happen again.
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the vehicle began to jerk upon depression on the accelerator pedal as the check engine warning light. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. Upon startup of the vehicle the next day, the contact stated that an abnormal knocking sound was emitted from the engine. The contact called her independent mechanic who informed her that her vehicle may have been placed under nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) and referred her to a local dealer. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer but was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 61,056.
My car just stopped without warning.. Kia dealership states it need a catalyst converter and 02 sensor.. No engine light came on.. It just stopped.. After they put an software for 50000 incase the engine fail.. Well my catalyst converter fail.. Without any warning
Check engine light came on day before i took it in for kia recall 4/27/2021. It was off after service done. 2 weeks later light came on again and went off 5 days later. Light came on again 2 weeks later- i went auto zone and firestone to have code scan. Both scans showed code p050a----pcm has detected a problem with the idle air control. When i called montrose kia sheffield lake, ohio chris in service said they don't trust auto zone codes and wanted to charge me $129.99 for them to check code. He told me if the light was steady don't worry about and was very rude and unprofessional. While investigating code info online i found it was a known problem to kia and nothing could be done-problem in ecu logic -no fix-expecting software update. If i went to dealership who knows what they would of done and charged me for.
Takata recall is incomplete for gear shift penion
Was driving on the freeway and just lost engine pressure and the light came on and engine died. Popped the hood and saw oil all on the passenger side of the motor. Towed it to the dealer and they said it was the engine and its not covered. Saw the recall god them about it and they did nothing but tell me the cost.
Key will get stuck in ignition after putting vehicle in park and attempting to remove key after turning key to off position.key will also not turn when attempting to turn on vehicle.vehicle was stationary and parked on both occasions.the inability to remove the key from the ignition happened in november of 2016.the inability to turn the key to start the car has happened at least 5 separate times.most recently was saturday, july 15, 2017 and i was at a hiking trail in the mountains.
Need help!! please
I have a kia soul ev because this is the battery that decreases the number of kilometers per day by day i think the battery has a problem
Car caught on fire. There was no accident involved. It started smoking and seconds later caught on fire. My son was driving on a city street, the car started smoking, he turned into a parking lot, got out of the car and the car caught on fire.
Catilac converter. Kia refused to fix says not a recall. But 2017 kia manufacturing says it's a recall and now my check engine light appears and that needs to be fixed
My car was parked in the driveway and had not been running.i shut the car door to go back inside the house and i heard a pop noise.the front part of the panoramic sun roof had broken and shattered.
The contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate above 5 mph and would stall with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
Stevens creek kia is denying to fix my catalytic converter even though it's part of the recall. They want to charge me $250 for the diagnostic test and to fix the converter. The recall details states the damaged converter will be replaced at no cost to the customer but they are denying any service unless i pay. I notified kia and nothing is being done. Stevens creek kia lied to me that my recall was done on tuesday 12-8-20 and when i showed up my car was still not running, they still gave me my keys and told me it was all good to go. They put my in danger, my car would've blown. They knew my car wasn't running and still didn't do anything about it and lied to me it was ready and when i told them they had to check the catalytic converter as a part of the recall because that's what the recall detail states they completely denied and said if i don't pay for everything they won't be checking or fixing anything. The manager at stevens creek kia has no respect or regarding for customer safety he handed me my car not running past 10 miles with a bad catalytic converter even though that's what the recall says to replace. I need to speak to someone on the phone to further explain everything that happened and explain in much greater detail. I don't feel safe or comfortable stevens creek kia handling my vehicle at this point. They don't care to fix my recalled car.
Upon parking my car i noticed the engine was on fire. Smoke and flames were coming from up under the hood. The car was declared a total loss by my insurance company and the fire was deemed electrical in nature.
While driving down the road the car loses power and the engine stalls out. No check engine lights come on and the engine stalls and then stops running. After further inspection, the catalytic converters has been clogged and is not functioning correctly.
On a partly cloudy, warm day, i got in my vehicle and closed my driver door; upon the driver door closing, the rear passenger door window exploded, shattering all over the back seat and floor of the car.
The 2016 kia soul owners manual has false, misleading and incorrect information. Before purchasing this new kia soul in 12/16 i looked through the cars owners manual. Something that caught my eye and helped sway me to purchase this car wasthe information in section 8 page 15 under online factory authorized manuals (u.s. Only) it states that the following publications are available on www.kiatechinfo.con at no charge. Service manual, electrical troubleshooting manual, owners manual. If you visit that site www.kiateahinfo.com the first screen that pops up states that effective october 17,2014 the site has been changed to a subscription-based pay per use site. Kia refuses to honor the information in the 2016 owners manual stating that this information is provided free of charge. This inaccurate and misleading information needs to honored buy kia motors and this and any future inaccurate information in the kia supplied owners manual needs to be corrected prior to the sale of any and all kia automobiles.
Vehicle occasionally hesitates when accelerating, delaying forward motion for a couple seconds.this can be very dangerous when accelerating from stop or when turning either direction.this has ben reported to dealer since we bought it new and they are unable to duplicate it or find any problem.we had a 2015 kia soul & traded it because it did it even more often than this one.we thought it was just that one car, but this one does it too but not quite as often.it did it again 3 times yesterday, but may not do it for weeks at a time so very difficult to diagnose.i have read on several forums that other owners are having the same problem. It happens after stopping, like at a stop sign, or more often when turning either direction after we have been driving. I has almost caused us to have an accident several times, either rear-ended or broadsided while turning.
Panoramic sunroof won't close
Had to replace catalytic converter at 80100 miles even after recall work had been satisfied
All interior windows fogged up making it impossible to see outside vehicle.i was driving the vehicle early morning, mid to low 60 degree temps, i put heat on low fan speed and mid temp, instrument panel started to fog up and windshield started to fog up, i switched heater to defog and in a few seconds all windows fogged up.it was dark and i was in a roundabout with traffic ahead of me and behind me.i opened all windows and put defog to full speed and after about a minute was the windshield defogged.internet search showed possible clogged heater/ac blower box, which was reported to be a service issue and not covered by warranty.i was about to park the vehicle and was very concerned about my safety and my family being in the vehicle. Something needs to be done to address this issue that will lead to vehicle collision with injury and.or fatalities.
Is the.
Got letter (4/12/2019) stating that there is a recall on the catalytic converter did as instructed and put it in the computer. Nothing. Called them twice still nothing. Case no. 13166847.that 's all we got
The contact owns a 2016 kia soul. While driving on several occasions, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. On several occasions, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated that the brakes operated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to cavenaugh kia (located at 3315 stadium blvd, jonesboro, ar 72404, (870) 802-4451) to be diagnosed.
The accelerator pedal broke in half and somehow stuck on. [xxx] was unable to stop the vehicle and it jumped off a three foot wall, ran through a wooden fence and hit the brick wall of an apartment building. Damagewas extensive, but could have been much worse. The 2014 and 2015 models have been recalled for breaking accelerator pedals, however the 2016 has not been included in the recall.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On a trip, i was driving on a cold, rainy night and the windows began to fog up so i turned on the heat/defroster which caused all the windows to quickly and totally fog over. The right side was spitting water on to the windshield this was so bad that i had to pull over to the side of the road.it took over five minutes for the windows to clear even after i turned on the a/c and was wiping them with a towel.i did a test the next morning when it was not raining but cold and damp.i started the car and turned on the heat/defroster. All the windows and even my glasses fogged over.it was over ten minutes before the windows cleared even with the a/c on and using a towel.i checked on line and found multiple examples of similar situations over several years. E.g. This video shows exactly what happened:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbojehjmcyi&sns=emislhere are other examples:https://www.carcomplaints.com/kia/soul/2015/ac_heater/extreme_humidity_on_windows.shtmlhttps://www.kiasoulforums.com/2-soul-general-discussion-gen-1/73641-inside-windows-fog-up-real-bad.htmli live in the desert so rarely run into these conditions but that doesn't lessen the danger.kia dealers seem to avoid saying it is a problem with the car's design but it seems most likely caused by poor drainage and/or poorly designed air flow.
