Was making a left hand turn into a parking spot next to car that was already parked, was barely moving when all of a sudden the car takes off hits the curb and hits the wall of a building, air bags deployed.we had been driving that morning with no problem until that time. Front end was totaled with possible damage to the wheels/axles due to the impact with the curb. Couple of days later neck pain probably due to whiplash, glasses were knocked into the back seat - wife just jammed her pinky.

I was second in line at a stop sign and was hit by 2006 ford f150 traveling about 50 mph in the drivers front quarter panel.the only 2 airbags that deployed were the steering wheel and the front passenger air bag.the 2 in the pillars coming down along the windshield did not deploy, neither did the ones on the door.

I was sitting at a stop light and when the light turned green, i proceeded to drive about 20 mph. About 30 seconds later, i received a heavy punch in my chest and stomach area. I yelled, "what is going on".i then noticed the airbag had deployed and exploded causing multiple burns and bruises to my arms, chest, clavicle and stomach areas. I was a little disoriented after this but managed to get out of the car. Once out of the car, i noticed i had rear-ended the vehicle in front of me and the driver was telling me to get away from the car since my car was smoking. It was 95 degrees that day and i did not have the air conditioning on. This was a defective airbag.

Vehicle was hit in right rear corner by another car.sent vehicle into a spin where it was hit in the front right by military truck, vehicle continued to spin until it came to a rest on the highway.the seat belt did not engage and the air bags did not deploy...updated 12/03/14 updated 5/11/2015

Car has problems playing mp3s in which i have used audacity to split up into multiple tracks.there is frequently cracking/popping sounds from the audio, and when turning on the car (after having listened to said mp3s on the previous trip), sometimes the radio display screen is black.no buttons will turn it on.it's completely dead.i have discovered this only happens with files that i've had run through audacity and split up into separate tracks.

Was driving down the interstate when all the lights on the dash come on and the car shut down.has not cranked since.

Engine lite when on. Got a recall notice. Had recall performed. Recall state that if damage was done to catalytic converter it would also be replaced. A few months later after recall performed engine light comes on saying catalytic converter problem. They say i need to pay $2000 to get fixed. I believe it should have been replaced at time of recall.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving 5 mph, the radio shut off without warning. The dealer (heritage toyota catonville, 6324 baltimore national pike, baltimore, md 21228) stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure occurred several times. The manufacturer stated that since the vehicle was out of warranty, the repair would be at the contact's expense. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 64,000.

Kia soul 2013 recall. We were driving home from work on the freeway going about 55mph and the check engine light started flashing. We rushed immediately to the kiadealership after hearing about the kia engine fires. They scanned our vechiel and saidone of the engine coils may stopworking. They said our car could just stop working on the road and then we would need to tow it in. This doesn't sound like a clear explaination of the problem to me. I'm concerned we'll keep driving the car and it will catch on fire.

Airbag exploded on impact with gaping holes with heavy smoke coming out with hot heat causing redness to my chest and redness to my hands and a blow to my wrist that caused fracture to my left wrist.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while turning in either direction there was an abnormal noise was coming from the front of the vehicle. Additionally, on several occasions the vehicle failed to start and the battery power was drained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the battery was not defective. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer hollywood kia located at (6011 pembroke rd. Hollywood fl) was notified of the failures. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 43,000. The vin was not available.

The battery keeps draining. Replaced battery and it keeps dying after a few weeks.the doors lock and can't be opened with the key provided when the battery is dead, so we are locked out of vehicle without access to opening the hood to get the car jumped. This is dangerous. Useless to have a keyhole for a key that won't work when the battery is dead. The key works any other time when the car battery is ok.

Battery replaced 2/18. Installed w/ rotors & brake pads by dealership after this my car would not start. It was parked in my driveway. It would not even make a noise. All the dashboard lights went on.alarm worked (installed by dealership). I got our of car locking it & tried to start manually, still nothing. 1 of the times i tried it the radio went on. After appr. 6x's the car started but idling extremely low. Kia dealership got the car that day, they had car for 9 days & could not replicate issue. I got car back 3 wks later same issue. Clock had been behind 20ish min that wk. I thought it was odd. 3/18/18 (same wk car time was off), i tried starting many x's. Everything was the same, i noticedi when dashboard lights on,i don't have. Radio would go on & off. I called kia,car was not starting, i was having it towed to them. Made video of trying to start car.the car is at the dealership again. They mentioned replacing ignition.if you google kia soul starting issues, there are pages of them.all with same description. Dealership could not replicate issue. There is something wrong electrically in some of the souls. It didn't appear to be limited to any particular year. Dealerships know about this issue, don't know what to do and randomly replace things. Didn't fix issue. People online stated they got so frustrated and traded in vehicle.i hope it does not come to that with me.there should be a recall or remedy for this situation.if you google it you will get so many pages on this issue with kia soul, all years. So the problem is unknown, could potentially cause harm. I have a very clear short video 1min 30 sec.

Sudden deceleration quickly followed by loss of all electrical power including steering, brakes, complete engine shut-off and dash instrumentation. Dealer found "no problem" and did not repair or replace ignition switch or anything else.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle shut down and the steering wheel locked. The failure recurred seven times and each time, the vehicle restarted. There was no warning indicator. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who was unable to replicate the failure and did not offer assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that nothing was wrong with the vehicle and there were no recalls. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the instrument panel failed to illuminate when the vehicle was powered on. Additionally, the contact mentioned that the gear shifter would not move out of park without the contact pushing the gear release button. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The vin was not available.

My 2013 kia soul has been stalling while idle or at red lights. In addition, sometimes it is difficult to start and i have to attempt several times. Lately, once i do start the vehicle and begin to drive, itā€™s as if the vehicle doesnā€™t know which gear to maintain. As a result, the car will attempt to ā€œcut offā€¯ driving and l literally will have to pull over immediately in attempt to not be hit or run off the road,as the car is practically in neutral by its own choice. Also, the ā€œemergency brakeā€¯ light is on, even though the emergency brake is not being used.

It's been a lot of complications with the car steering collar car make a loud sound while driving over 60mphknock sensor causes a lot of problems with holding gasengine is very loud

Vehicle will just randomly not start. Get in car turn on key and nothing, lights, radio, ect all work, but car will not start. So far if you wait a short time and try again it starts and all is fine. I thought that it was the battery so i replaced it and all was good for about 6 months, and then about 2 weeks ago it did the same thing, would not start. Went about my business in another car, came home about 1 hour later, got into car and it started right up and has been fine since. I have gone online and have seen this is a common problem, but there does not appear to be anything that the dealer can do. They replace different parts, but it occurs again. Lots on money being spent and no results to be had. Very frustrating . This has happen about 15 times in the last year, but it does start if you wait awhile. At least my has, but i note that others have not.

I have a 2013 kia soul, i have been paying my loan on this car since 2016. I take care of it and routinely do oil changes on it and up keep.over the course of the past four months i noticed my car acting up, i had taken it to shops and none could find a problem. My car was not starting up, i would have to jiggle my wheel to miraculously get the vehicle to start. Then once it started it wouldn't accelerate and would slowly go into neutral. Progressively it got worse, my car would turn off if i was parked or at a stop sign or when going 20mph or less. On 12/24/2020 as i was driving my car on a major highway i saw smoke coming from my car. I turned the vehicle off and then as i restarted it, there was a loud clanging and the car was jumping. I immediately turned it off and got it towed. I am at a loss and completely at risk with this vehicle please help.

My car died while driving on highway going 75mph with 70k miles thats about when a vehicle should be breaking in not breaking down. My steering wheel is loose, gas play. The radio sometimes doesnt come on and my engine just sounds clogged

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start on several occasions without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted by roadside assistance. The failure recurred. The contact also stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

I went on a trip from orlando to keywest with two young children in the car and i broke down. Thankfully, i had through insurance free towing. Got towed to an automotive store and they said nothing was wrong they checked the battery and accelerator and multiple items i have proof of on paper. I began to drive again and my car wouldnt start when i stopped to get gas. Someone had to jump my car at the gas station and it happens on and off not everytime but i have to push my gas and turn my key at the same time to get my car to start. In addition, when i am driving i hear sounds and brought it to kia in keywest. I bought an accelerator for $717.54 and still having issues! luckily, i just made it home tonight with my children and we are safe but this is still an issue and after paying all of that money i am livid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After owning this vehicle for a month or so, i noticed that when i turn on the vehicle the radio screen was half faded or gone. This is the screen that allows you to use the hands free device also. I took vehicle to dealers and they stated that the radio would have to be replaced. I was a bit confused as to how this could happen to a new car but... Stuff happens. I really enjoy this car and have had no other issues.

This is the second complaint being filed reguarding this car. After we filed the first complaint we took our car back into the kia dealership for the check engine light flashing. They scanned engine and didn't find anything. They topped off our oil because it was half full. I just recently got my oil change done there 2,000 miles ago. According to the owners manual it should be done every 7,500 miles. The following day we were driving down the freeway, pulled off at our exit and smelled a horrid leak burning/ rotten egg/ sulfur smell. We immediately pulled of the road and checked the car for flames. We didn't find any. I'm really starting to feel unsafe about being in this vechiel.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the check warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for a diagnosis. The technician stated that the wiring coding was soy based and that animals were eating the wires. As a result, the wiring harness and the emission wiring needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned the same soy based coding wiring was used to remedy the defect and he was concerned that there would be a recurrence in the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The approximate failure and current mileage was 1,000.

Well the first item is the dealership told me there was a recall on the driver side panel door. The second problem right low beam light has been out now for almost two years i have been everywhere we had switched bulbs we have traced wires everything replace the relay still can i get that to work and sometimes he does lunds highway road you hit bumps all the lights come on in car it is some kind of electrical short in a car somewhere

Radio/backing camera stopped working.had camera replaced earlier.radio comes on but plays no sounds.

My car has 55k miles on it. I purchased it october 2013.the steering coupling just went bad and now i have to pay $500 for the repair. This complaint seems to be prevalent with this vehicle.it should be a recall. Also, the passenger side window will not go back up with driver's side control.the dealer is telling me that that is also out of warranty and that it will $350 for the repair.i'm confused... How can none of this be covered under warranty?plus, i'm still waiting for kia miles per gallon settlement from 4 years ago.if this is they way they operate, i'll never buy another one.

Car wont start, intermittently.got a new battery and then all of a sudden the car would start.lights come on the dash but car wouldn't start, quick jump and car started right up.this kept happening so i thought i had gotten a bad battery.replaced the battery with a new one and a week later the same thing starting happening.the car wouldn't start.took it to the automotive shop because i thought it might be the alternator.they had it for 3 days and everything checked checked out fine, could find a problem and couldn't duplicate this.took car home and 3 days later the same thing the car wont start.quick jump starts right up and lasts for about 3 days and wont start again.there are a lot of complaints about this starting issue on the kia soul with customers and no one seems to be able to find the problem, they all seem to be the same issue and when we take it in they are unable to duplicate it.this needs to be looked into

So i am actually shocked that there's no complaint logged here about this, yet it seems to be everywhere all over the internet. Our 2013 kia soul (and this happens with more than just our year) when making a right turn, the door ajar indicator comes on, on the dash panel, and the ignition key ring that illuminates, and also illuminates the door/map lights in the center console. You don't even have to just be making a right turn for it to come on. If you touch (not hit it or be forceful) the drivers door panel, you can make it come on, and sometimes it goes right out and sometimes it doesn't. I know what you're going to say "make sure the door is closed tightly!" well the door is closed. All 4 doors and the hatch are securely closed, and it's only the drivers door. It will not do it when the vehicle is not running, it only does it with the key in the ignition, and the vehicle running. I am shocked this is not a recall. I have seen this with other souls dating back to 2009! i am reluctant of taking the door apart, but i mean seriously!

When trying to start the car you turn the key and it does not turn over. You hear a click, all lights on dash light and radio plays but the car doesn't start. Sometimes you can turn the key up to 10 times before it starts. Happens 2-3 times a week sporadically. The car does eventually start. The driver side door also locks by itself at times when you shut the door. It has been to the dealer 3 times and for 17 days, they are unable to replicate the problem. My husband videoed it on jan 5 and took it to the dealer who then kept car for 14 days and said they had over 150 starts and the problem could not be duplicated. Currently waiting for the problem to occur again and an tech will bring portable equipment to the car and test it then. Dealer have been very good in trying to find cause.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the battery light illuminated. The contact stated that the alternator failed to operate as designed. Due to the alternator failure, the vehicle loss power steering functionality. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.

The contact owned a 2013 kia soul. The contact's wife informed him of an abnormal odor on the outside of the vehicle. Approximately 45 minutes later, the vehicle caught on fire. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed and the fire marshall diagnosed that the wiring in front of the engine compartment caused the fire. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was destroyed by the fire. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified, but did not assist. The failure mileage was 45,000.

A couple of weeks ago my factory radio system stopped working. Since then it will come on by itself and go back out without warning and i am unable to operate it in any way or to cut power on or off to it. A couple of days ago it smelled like it was on fire and smoke came out of it thru the dash board area inside of the vehicle. I immediately turned the car off exited the vehicle and waited a few minutes. I then popped the hood to see if there was something on fire and did not see anything but the smoke was still coming the the dashboard area. This was the only incident since 2 days ago. I was driving when i started smelling the burning smell and then i pulled over and parked and turned off the vehicle.

This is the second complaint being filed reguarding this car. After we filed the first complaint we took our car back into the kia dealership for the check engine light flashing. They scanned engine and didn't find anything. They topped off our oil because it was half full. I just recently got my oil change done there 2,000 miles ago. Oli light does not come on when my oil is low. My 2013 kia soul burns oil quickly had my oil changed 2 weeks ago checked yesterday the dip stick was almost dry at not time did my oil light come on. My steering wheel makes noise when i move left or right it makes a clicking noise, steering wheel feels likes it locks at time when driving on the high way

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving, a loud explosion was heard underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and bystanders helped push the vehicle into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to world car kia new braunfels (located at 3363 interstate 35 frontage rd, new braunfels, tx 78132, (830) 214-7280) where it was diagnosed that the piston rod exploded and blew a hole in the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that oil was leaking into different compartments of the engine. The vehicle was taken to greenway kia west (3407 w colonial dr, orlando, fl 32808, (407) 532-2217) to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The dealer was unable to determine why the vehicle was experiencing high oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

My soul began to make a terrible noise at 52,000 miles. Took it to the dealer because we had purchased the additional warranty to extend it to 100,000 and was told the engine bearings had failed.the mechanic at the dealership said he didn't see much sludge in the engine and couldn't see a reason why kia would deny the claim.although the oil had been changed appropriately we couldn't produce all the documentation on the spot.the local dealership took video and sent in to kia, we were told that kia would not honor their warranty and we were on our own.

The contact owned a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated while her leaseholder was driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. Was driving on the high way engine blinked five times and car locked up began to shut off. Got out the car thinking i need oil poppedthe hood saw something fall looked under the car there was a fire put the fire out with a towel called the police and the fire department came and said a rod blew? and i googled there is a recall for this exact happening

I just read about the recall for the catalytic converter overheating and causing oil leakage. My vin is not showing under the recall but my car is losing oil and the engine light came on.the mechanic says it is giving the code for the catalytic converter. My car is also losing power and i can hear a noise under the hood that sounds like metal hitting metal. The recall says it includes the 2013 kia soul with the 1.6 engine and i'm wondering if mine will be included in the recall.

Car was like new had with only around 40k miles on it.we were giving a car a jump and soul caught fire and literally burned to the ground! fire department had to come out and put it out!it was remarkable! and we have the fire on video, the fire department showing up, etc.it caught fire under the front hood and no one knows why!we had just paid off the final payment were waiting for title to come in the mail.needless to say after paying it off only had required coverage as my mother 80yrs never drove it and of course it did not cover fire!she paid $33k for the car january 2014, paid it off june 2018 "new condition", only 40k miles on it, burns to the ground and it's over!no explanation, no compensation, nothing!car was parked at our home and i was jumping my car when it just caught fire (first time was ever used to jump a car) always felt no way simple jump would have caused it!fire was july 24, 2018 at 10:48 amunbelievable!we have not been able to get any cooperationon this or understanding of "what happened"!we are so glad to see your reports!thank you!(xxxxx)parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Takata recall : check engine light comes on, stays on for a few days, then turns off for a few hours. The error code reads p0420. My fuel efficiency has significantly dropped and i have a significant loss of power as my car now struggles to accelerate. A smell similar to spray paint has been present inside the car on occasion. The engine has grown loud. However, my vin number is not pulling up any recalls. This does not make sense, given my specific issues with my vehicle.

Engine looses oil out tail pipe. Doesn't leak a drop or smoke. Warm it up in garage and there is a spot of oil where exhaust exits. After fresh oil change, around 1000 miles after there is no oil on dip stick. Started happening around 80,000 miles. Told kia dealer and they said warrenty is voided since i change the oil myself and have no documents to prove. I change every 3000 miles .

After a month of leasing my kia my engine light and oil light kept reappearing. So i would check all the fluids.the engine and oil light turned off and didn't turn on for a couple of days than the oil light turned on and would not turn off. All the fluids were checked. On a 15 minute drive into town immediately the engine light came on after not appearing for a couple of days. Later on in the afternoon driving back to the residence the radiator cap flew off into the engine compartment making the car overheat. Immediately after seeing the temperature gauge go up i pulled over to the right hand side of the road where it was left until the next day when i replaced the cap.it was running a little rough so i took the car to autozone to have the codes read. Shortly after that the car just died and could not start it wouldn't even turn over. Took it to kia after and was told spark plugs had melted to the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. After a year of sitting i took it upon myself to try to do something with the car. So i did read watch and replaced the crankshaft sensor which allowed the car to start but now the car idles really rough and there is some weird noises in the engine compartment it also still has a problem starting.

I took my vehicle to kia for two recalls and a performance issue with the engine; specifically, a loss of power and increased oil consumption. Kia performed an ecu upgrade and replaced the catalytic converter related to recall# sc176.the recall also identifies internal engine damage to the pistons that result from overheating caused by high catalytic converter temperatures which was addressed by the ecu upgrade.i inquired about coverage for the damage to the engine; however i was told that the engine damage would not be covered by kia. An oil consumption test was performed and kia documented that 1 quart of oil had been consumed in the 1,000 elapsed miles (which exceeds the manufacturer's specification for normal rate of consumption), i was told that the engine would need to be replaced, and kia would not cover the cost. I was very surprised as the issues that i am having with the car are exactly the very same issues described in the recall.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While operating the vehicle, a clanking noise was present under the front of the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not determined. High country kia (4004 e. Main st, farmington, nm) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

The engine always smell as if the radiator is overheating even with regular maintenance check floods and oil changes. This after normal driving. I have reported the concern to the dealer with no resolution

It is using oil excessively took it to the dealer and they wanted 1000.00 dollars to diagnose the engine, they know what is wrong with the engine, said i need a new one. This vehicle has been serviced and very well taken care of

After sc176 recall repair the vehicle still did not run correctly.after escalating for a vp, kia replaced the catalytic converter. I asked for the parts but kia said the parts were theirs.the engine seemed to be running correctly but failed in nov. 2020.i went about a mile with the car after it was sitting for 2 days and the check engine came on and blinked and engine ran rough. I had it towed to the kia repair.kia said i needed a new engine, with parts and labor would be 6k to install. I talked with 2 mechanics besides kia and both said that the car age and miles it should not have failed and that it had to be an over heating issue but it never overheated.i followed maintenance schedule for most of the life of the car.

This vehicle was purchased in march 2020 and in january 2021 started experiencing stalling and smoke.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they diagnosed the issue as having bad gas.in february 2021, the car had the same issue, stalled while driving, and was also smoking.after two weeks of sitting at the dealership and awaiting the diagnosis, the service manager at southside kia reported that the engine would need to be replaced and it would cost approximately $7700.upon research, kia has recalled over 300k vehicles due to engine stall and the risk of catching fire.these are the same issues that my mom's car is having, however, the dealer will not entertain or pay the cost and rather attempt to sell her another car.i am still awaiting the documented estimate.i have only spoken to the service advisor on the phone.my concern is that they were aware of the engine trouble in january 2021 and potentially in march of 2020 when they sold the vehicle to her.this appears to be dishonest and that kia's staff took advantage of a senior citizen. The car was in motion while stalling and smoking.

My 2013 soul plus gets exhaustinto cabin especially when cold. The rear muffler or converter directs the exhaust straight down, no tail pipe. This seems to be a design flaw.

Was driving down the interstate when all the lights on the dash come on and the car shut down.has not cranked since.

I was driving to work and my check engine light came on. I figured i would take it to my mechanic the next day since i did not see, hear, or smell anything at that time. Within 10 minutes, a knocking noise started under my hood. I immediately headed towards my mechanic's shop - i made it 8 miles, with the knocking becoming more frequent, until it stopped and my engine died. I was in the right lane of the highway at approximately 50 mph. I was able to coast from the closest exit ramp into a gas station parking lot. I had my vehicle towed the rest of the way to my mechanic, who diagnosed a spun or thrown rod bearing. He identified one hole in the bottom of the engine - the ejected part had pierced the engine block and my oil pan. I called kia consumer affairs, who advised this sounded like an issue i should take it to a dealership to have evaluated for replacement/repair by kia. As far as i know, there has been no recall, but kia seems to already be aware of this problem in souls and has not issued a recall. The representative on the phone at kia consumer affairs said i "may not have even received the letter yet". My vehicle was not included in the previous recall but appears to have suffered the expected issue. The recall should be expanded.i took my vehicle to my local dealership, who coordinated with their district manager and kia has agreed to repair my engine. I am concerned that they will only repair the damage but not address the actual issue.the dealership also identified a second hole that had been made in my engine block by debris when my engine broke down.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). While driving 60-65 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that there was no compression on the number one piston. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 215,000.

I was having issues with a prior recall, concerning the catalytic converters and overheating. (potentially leading to a stall / engine fire) i took my car to the shop and was told they had ran the upgrade and my car was mechanically sound. Throughout the following year, i had contacted kia over my car acting strange and not allowing me to accelerate while going down the road on several occasions. The car maxed out between 25-35 mph on major highways 4 times to date. I kept taking it in and they done inspections, the car appeared in good mechanical shape. Exactly 2-3 days after picking my car up, it stalled on me again, resulting in 3 semi trucks almost colliding into me. My speed went from 75mpg down to 30mph on a 70mph interstate. After the upgrade, my engine would randomly start making a chirping sound / ticking sound. Several misfire codes presented themselves throughout this time and yet nothing was found stored in the cars computer. Kia stated it was recall related at one point and when the engine stalled the last round, the engine and car started shuddering down the interstate and now the engine has a loud knocking noise coming from it (threw piston / rod) and kia will not assist in the inspection of this safety recall issue. Kia has had me pay several times for inspections and towing to date. Hundreds of other owners have experienced these problems after they received the ecu logic upgrade and also prior to receiving it. Kia stated they were not exactly sure about my issues and that they have not received any other reports from owners concerning these matters. However, bbb and several online sources can confirm that others have experienced these exact same problems.i almost lost my life on 4 different occasions due to these safety issues. I have forum screenshots and a video on my problems. They all exceed 5mb. Any other way to send?

The first issue is that the oil light does not come on properly. It would only flicker on occasionally when the oil level began to get low. This is scary to think about not being warned that your car is out of oil and continuing to drive, when the engine could seize. The real issue is that the car is consuming oil. I am going through a quart a week just to keep up. I drive 500-600 miles a week. Kia will tell you that adding oil in-between oil changes is normal. There is nothing normal about having to give it this much. The car is not smoking and the car is not leaking. I had it checked by my mechanic, and they replaced the pcv valve. They said this was a long shot, and the next step would be to replace the engine. The valve replacement did little to help the consumption of oil. I know there are other cars in kia's offering that have leaked oil into the pistons, i am thinking this could be one of them.

I was driving my 2013 kia soul, and i was turning across a busy intersection.as i was in the middle of crossing the intersection my car stalled out and i was almost in a very serious accident.if the oncoming car had not swerved it would have been a serious collision.since this incident, my car has been towed to a kia service center and evaluated.the kia technician stated that my car had metal shavings within the crankshaft oil passages, and the crankpins themselves may be too rough on the edges. As a result, oil may be blocked and cause the connecting rod bearings to wear, which would then cause them to fail and seize the whole engine. That, of course, would cause the car to stall during driving.this is the exact same problem that the other kia engines were recalled for.in addition to stalling this could cause the rods to pierce the engine and cause a fire.more lives are at risk because the kia recall is not complete.engines like mine, are still out there possibly causing serious and or fatal incidents. Kia needs to expand the recall to the 2. Engines as well.this is a manufacturing defect that needs immediate action.please expand the recall as this problem is still continuing in other kia soul engines not listed in the recall.consumer stated my 2013 kia soul has been towed to the dulles kia dealership. They are saying that even though the issue my car is having is the same/ or similar to the other recalled kia soul engines, my engine is not listed on the recall. Since it is not on the recall, i need a new engine at the cost of $6,200 dollars. My kia is a 2013, with 86,712 miles on it.

My vehicle suffered nhtsa recall 19v120. Kia dealership refused to inspect for any engine damage that may have occurred. They just replaced the catalytic converter and did not inspect for any engine damage.the vehicle suffered from catalytic converter issues for over 3 years and they refused to say anything was wrong with the vehicle. According to the recall, if the catalytic converter was damaged it may cause engine damage. Well the catalytic converter was damaged and they refuse to do a proper inspection on the vehicle. I need them to fully diagnose the vehicle and inspect the engine. Corporate has refused to work with me resolving this matter. The technician stated that it is impossible for the catalytic converter to cause any engine damage.

As i stopped the car on the shoulder, the check oil light began flashing. I drove to a parking lot for a safe area, and called the company that recently changed the oil 4 days prior. I've owned this vehicle for approx. 7 months. I've never had a check engine light or any other indicators that an issue was pending.

Regarding recall sc176 the engine is overheating and has engine damage which can lead to the vehicle starting on fire. Have brought it to 2 dealerships and they are just trying to brush it off saying nothing is wrong even though it is overheating and an independent mechanic states that there is piston and cylinder damage.

I was driving south on i 5 in everett wa, like i do every morning, when my engine started making rattling and clanking noises and started to lose power to the point i was nearly in multiple accidents.i was luckily able to make it off the freeway safely. As i started the vehicle in the morning i heard what seem to be belt noises. As i drove to work, the noises increased to the point where the car was shaking and decelerated. Driving home a few weeks ago my kia stalled on the interstate, stopping me in in heavy traffic with out warning. I was able to get it safely off the road after it started back up. When it started it started blowing all kinds of white smoke, ran really rough, all the dash lights came on, and i noticed the engine was now knocking. The next morning i got it towed to kia dealer where they did some work under recallsc176 which was a failed computer which over heated the exhaust converter which resulted in internal engine failure due to back pressure and combustion. My engine now has a failed engine connecting rod. Kia did the basic recall work but now is refusing to replace the engine under their own recall. As it states right in the recall. If the catalytic converter is damaged, substrate particles can enter the engine combustion chamber and cause abnormal engine combustion. Continuous abnormal engine combustion can result in damage to one or more of the engine's pistons which can cause piston rod breakage, potentially puncturing the engine block allowing engine oil to escape. Engine oil that contacts a hot exhaust surface may result in a fire. In addition, the catalytic converter will also be replaced if it has been damaged. Depending on the extent of any damage, the engine may also be replaced.this car i have owned since brand new 1 person owner and was running perfect up until this event. The engine failed due to the issues of the recall and now they refuse to replace the engine that it is clearly listed din black and white on their own recall information.

For the last 3 yrs the last piston has been misfiring causing a knocking sound. I 2013 kia souls recently went out, it won't start. There was no light that indicated a problem. I took it to my machine who believed it was the starter or battery but when he looked at the engine he believed it had blow up. A recent recall was done on my veh, so i got it tolled to kia. They didn't issue me a rental, and the service man didn't want to take the veh because they havent received any information on it. I had to go home and get the recall notice that was going to be sent out to customers. I've been calling for the past 2 week and the service person closed out my case. If you had no information on the recall how can you close out my case ? what knowledge did you have that your were not informing me? on 4/22/2019 i received a call that stated my car was not part of the recall because the service codes and that i would have to pay for a new engine but they can;'t find one. Maybe because it was recalled

The vehicle stalled while driving and the engine light was illuminated.the car would crank after sitting for a moment and then the car would stall again while driving.this was very dangerous being that this was in traffic.in february, the car was stalling and when towed to the dealer they diagnosed as having bad gas and to run the gas out of the tank.the engine light did not come on at this time.the charge was $168.00 to diagnose.the same problem is occurring a month later and the dealership responded that in order to diagnose the problem it will cost $420.this appears to be an excessive amount just to diagnose the problem and does not include any repairs.being that the engine is stalling this and the seriousness of this, i would like to bring this to this agency's attention.i am a senior citizen and would hate to think that the dealership is trying to take advantage of a woman who is a senior citizen.the car was in motion on surface streets but also on the highway at one point.

A complaint to kia consumer affairs addressing concerns and issues with my 2013 kia soul in december 2020. The complaint was regarded to excessive oil consumption, low gas mileage, vehicle stalling and shutting down completely while in motion in the highway and faulty engine parts. I initiated a 2nd complaint about same issues in january 2021. Prior to all this in 2019 kia had a recall for ecu in which i strongly think is the onset beginning how issues i currently have have resonated into current issues leading up till (present). This year 2021, i called kia consumer addressing issues but rep. Stated, there were no engine campaigns or recalls issued at this time and insisted i call the dealership about issues with the vehicle. I called the kia dealership explaining to the service rep. An incident had occurred as i'm driving to work while in motion in ongoing traffic up a highway my car begin to stall like in limp mode and losing powertrain in the engine and shut off completely. While this happened the check engine lights were illuminated as the battery light, oil light and the check engine light were on all at the same time. I tried to start the vehicle but would not start. I called for 911 assistance for immediate help due to car shutting off on me in ongoing traffic. The state agent did not come in time, so dot happened to drive passed and slowed down and come back to help push my vehicle to the right side of the highway to safety. Eventually, 911 agent came and i explained everything to him as i called for roadside asst. To come and tow my car to the nearest auto shop. I phone the kia dealership the same day of this incident and explained everything, kia rep. Said that's because you show a recall open on your vehicle and need to bring the vehicle in for repairs. Ecu knock sensor was told by service mgr. This was the reason car shut down on me. Disappointed with kia

My car broke down last week, after getting it towed to the destination, low and behold it is the catalytic converter. I had to replace the cat, and am now worried that my engine, which is burning oil caused by the cat damaging the engine will catch fire, and i will not have enough time to remedy the situation. I get brought all around when i call kia, some say my car is being recalled, some say no, all i know is my car is showing every single symptom of the recall, and i feel they are taking an extreme risk not speeding up the process for the recall, and having more knowledge if i'm on the obviously similar symptoms of the recall or not. People have died from their negligence, and this wait game is giving me extreme anxiety and makes me scared to commute to work.

Sudden deceleration quickly followed by loss of all electrical power including steering, brakes, complete engine shut-off and dash instrumentation. Dealer found "no problem" and did not repair or replace ignition switch or anything else.

I took my car into kia of lagrange in lagrange georgia for a recall. My engine light was on and giving the code for the cadillac converter. They upgraded the cop ecu logic and reset my engine light. The next day my engine light was right back on for my cadillac converter. Kia is refusing to replace my cadillac converter even though the recall states if that was damaged it would be replaced. I have called the consumer assistance center for kia at 800-333-4542 six times now and each representative i have spoken to has assured me they would get this resolved and that no money would come out of my pocket and have been promised calls back all six times but never recieved a call back.

My car, kia soul 2013, had problems such as 1.car burned oil a gallon every 500-1000 miles 2.car not accelerating properly 3.check engine light po420and there was a recall about catalytic converter so i went to kia dealer (dtla). I expected them to replace the catalytic converter but they just upgraded ecu.a couple months later, my car died in the middle of mountain road. According to a mechanic, one of engineā€™s pistons not working and suggested me to replace an engine. I did because i need a car for working.my car now still show code po420. I am afraid that my car will die again from malfunction catalytic converter

My exhaust pipe broke on a weld behind the resonator and started dragging the ground while i was driving.luckly i was close to home.i went to the auto parts store and got some clamps to hold it together but it is very loud now.not sure if it could have been a fire hazard from sparks on the pavement.

While driving my certified 2013 kia soul on a busy highway it suddenly lost all power. I was able to get it to the side of the road and push it into a parking lot.i opened the hood and found oil had exploded everywhere so i had to have it towed to my home.a mechanic said the engine threw a rod that went through the block, so the whole engine would have to be replaced.i had the car serviced 2 months prior to the failure and they didn't advise of any issues. After contacting the dealership where i purchased the kia soul they confirmed kia was already aware of this problem and should have told me there was a recall on my vehicle before the engine was damaged.when i contacted kia they told me my vehicle didn't qualify for the recall, but since the failure of my vehicle is exactly what has happened on other vehicles i'm not sure why mine doesn't qualify. I'm currently without a vehicle because i don't have the funds to replace the engine.i need direction on what to do.

2013 kia soul 1.6l gdi. 77650 miles. Problem 1 .two days ago while driving on the freeway my check engine light started flashing and i could tell it was having a lot of hesitation, even before it flashed i could notice something wasn't right. I immediately went to my local kia dealership and they ran a diagnostic on my car and could tell there is something wrong with cylinder 2. Despite that no action was taken and i was told to keep driving the vehicle until i happened again.2. I've been noticing my car is always low on oil. Last time i had my oil changed they told me they couldn't even measure any oil on the dipstick. Now yesterday when i was at the dealership same issue. It's only been 2k miles since my last service and it was almost 3/4of a qt low. I know it's normal for some oil to burn but that's way too much too quickly.3. Yesterday only 1 day after my check engine light flashed i noticed a really bad smell coming from my car when i got off the highway. I'd described it as a hot tin/sulfer smell. Now i'm worried to even drive this car and i don't know what to do.

I would like to here back from someone on my concerns.

We were driving i-15 nb in san bernardino county california. We were heading uphill on a grade at approximately 45 miles per hourwhen suddenly the vehicle lost power. We pulled to the shoulder and before we could get out of the car the engine compartment had caught fire. The whole car was engulfed in flames within 30 seconds. There was no collision and no prior warning of any issues. This happened in february of 2016

My 2013 kia soul check engine light blinking. I was told needed a new catalytic converter which i took care of 2 months ago. Check engine light came on again when i was driving and car would not go i've 40mph. I took it to a repair shop and was told i needed a new engine. I have always gotten my oil changed every 7000 miles as requested. I did this at the kia dealership for the first 5 years then just locally. My hours at work have been cut back due to covid and i do not have $5000 dollars. The shop said that the engines are hard to find due to this being a ongoing problem with the 1.6 liter 2013 kia soul. My kia has 160,000 on it but has been well maintained. I contacted kia and they are not taking any responsibility yet sold these kias knowing the engine was faulty.

While driving back home my 2013 kia soul l4 1.6 suddenly lost its power in the middle of the road. I was able to get it off of the road and check it up into a parking lot. I opened the hood and found everything was normal so i decided to drive back again but as soon i start the engine a red lighy got appears on the on. I got home and called a mechanic. A mechanic did a computer scan and the report fault code retrival and diagnosis were: #1= system to lean @ higher load bank # 1. Then#2 - fuel pressure control low. He referred me to the dealership since it can not be fixed by them (recall) when i contacted kia they told me my vehicle didn't qualify for any guarantee since it has 130k miles on it not recall cover, and i have to pay to fix it as my own expense but as i read it should be covered,i'm not sure why my car doesn't qualify. I have not other transportation vehicle andi don't have the funds to pay theexpensivedealership to fix it so please i need to knowif you can help and asvise.thank you.

The vehicle was taken to hanson subaru kia (2300 carriage loop sw, olympia, wa 98502, 1-877-224-14270) to be repaired per a manufacturer recall campaign regarding the engine. The dealer found two diagnostic trouble codes, but they failed to replace the motor or catalytic converter and only provided an upgrade to the computer. The dealer refused to provide the remedy and cleared the failure codes. The contact stated that the engine had excessive wear and was consuming motor oil at a high rate. The vehicle was not fully repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Recall #176:according to the recall, there can be piston damage from the overheating and misfiring as result of a bad ecu.i recently had this recall repair completed but the dealer is unwilling to acknowledge the possible engine damage and check deeper.currently, i am burning about 1 quart of oil every 200 miles.obviously, this is a problem.my contention is that the cause may be from piston damage originating from the original recall and i am currently still at risk of severe damage and/or danger.i do not know the next steps in getting the dealer to investigate the cause of increased oil consumption.

On monday 06/17/2019 at approximately 4:15 i was on the expressway driving in traffic around 60 mph when my car started to make a ticking sound as i accelerated. Thinking maybe it had something to do with my recent oil change i so i dismissed it initially. After another ten minutes my car i heard a loud clank under my car but i continued to drive thinking i may have ran over road debris. Then i had a person in a white altima flag me down and told me i was on fire. I immediately pulled overon interstate 285 w in atlanta ga and lifted the hood where i witnessedmy engine flaming from the bottom. I began dowsing the fire with my case of bottled water til it was under control.kia has a recall on my enginerecall statusrecall incompletesummarykia motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in the 2012-2016 my kia soul vehicles equipped with the 1.6l gasoline direct injection (gdi) engine. The defect may cause damage to the catalytic converter due to overheating, resulting in abnormal engine combustion and damage to the engine pistons. Piston damage can result in a stall, increasing the risk of a crash. If a piston rod breaks and punctures the engine block, oil can escape, increasing the risk of a fire.

The engine blew up while i was driving down the highway, going about 65-70 mph.i had the vehicle towed to a local kia dealership and they confirmed the engine exploded but kia customer service will not take responsibility, though they have a recall notice out on the engine.

In april of 2015 i drove a half hour of highway driving to an appointment. I parked my car (with the ignition off). Walked into the building and within 1 or 2 minutes my car was engulfed in flames. 911 was called. The fire department came and put out the fire but car was totaled. My insurance co. Hired a forensic specialist to determine the cause of fire for insurance purposes. The specialist was unable to determine the cause of this freak incident. I have pictures but don't know how to include them.

My vehicle is located in puerto rico usa.there is an active recallunder # kia recall 19v120000however the local dealer refuses to accept that it exists.i went thru everything that is described on the recall on my 2013 kia soul, but if you enter the vin number directly on your page, it indicates that the vin number can not be found. On the other hand, it refers you to kia motors where you enter the vin number and again it says it does not exist.however, when i decided to make complaint via your page it identifies the car perfectly.the question is: why wont my vin number appear on the normal search for recalls on your page nor on kia's page but it clearly appeared once i started my complaint.i need the local dealer to recognize that there is a recall and act on it on my vehicle.please search for the recall mentioned 19v120000 from kia.

Catalytic converter is failing causing engine and exhaust noise as well as performance issues. Diagnostic code appears when computer diagnostics ran. There is recall for this issue for my year, make, and model, but when i search by vin it states there are no recalls for this vehicle.

Engine started hard in driveway and lacked performance when starting down the street. Hoped it was a possible damp condition that morning as it never happened before and i continued off for work. After nearing work, it did not correct itself so when i got to work i took the day off to get it to the dealer. Upon restarting it was the same however at the first stop it stalled and would not restart. Kept trying for 10 min and if finally started and i drove it to the dealer. After a couple days the dealer stated it needed a new engine as the timing was off by 4 degrees. This condition made the car extremely dangerous for lack of power and others passing but i never dreamed it would need the engine replaced. Byers kia in lewis center, oh service dept has not given me any information on what happened and why and has not given any further follow-up in 3 weeks!

My car died while driving on highway going 75mph with 70k miles thats about when a vehicle should be breaking in not breaking down. My steering wheel is loose, gas play. The radio sometimes doesnt come on and my engine just sounds clogged

I began hearing a loud knocking sound while i was driving. I stopped at a pep boys and the tech told me i should be fine to get home. After some time on the road my engine light began to flash and the oil light was on as well. I was able to get the car off the nearest exit and into a park and ride parking lot. The car at this point was smoking. I began to gather my things then i saw flames appear under the hood. That's when i exited the vehicle. The car was engulfed in flames within five minutes. I lost 2 ipads and my iphone. But we made it out safely! a good samaritan followed us off the highway. He has dash cam of my car that shows a spark go off underneath the car while we were still on the road.

The engine in my 2013 kia soul blew at only 56000 miles.my wife was driving the car on the interstate when she heard a knocking noise and she pulled over.a man came up to her window and told her there was flames coming from the bottom of the car.it turns out that a rod went through the engine block and leaked all the oil out of the car.when i took the vehicle to kia, the service tech asked about the oil changes and had mentioned that the oem oil filter that kia puts has some type of pressure release and when you get the oil changed somewhere else they don't have that type of filter.i asked if it was required to have the oil changed at a kia dealer and he said no.we have had all the oil changes up to date on the vehicle.it is really hard to understand how an engine with 56k miles can stop.

Metal shavings found in engine and rod went thru the block. Keeps overheating even when seen by 3 different mechanics. Value 3 won't work no matter what we do to fix it

Recall on car 19v120. Kia states i need a new engine.my car is experiencing the exact symptoms of the recall (piston damage d/t subrate particles, excessive oil burning (2.5quarts per 900 miles), intermittent mil illuminating...kia states i need a new engine and they will pay for the engine, but not the labor.getting run around.kia states the engine damage is not because of the recall, yet they refuse to provide an explanation of what is causing the engine damage.they are also refusing to provide any diagnostic information.their reason that my engine has damage is because it's high mileage.this is a single owner, well maintained vehicle.the fact that the car has the exact damage as indicated in the recall and kia refuses to live up to their promise 'at no cost to you', not only has me questioning their loyalty to the customer, but also continues to put me and my family in a dangerous situation of driving a faulty car.yes, this has high mileage, yes, this is out of warranty, however, this is a recall, not a warranty issue and the recall should be honored 100%.i have advised kia corporate i am contacting you for assistance, since each rep tells me a different story.i'm told the case is being escalated, and have yet to hear anything.i've asked god speak with higher management and have been told that information is not available to give out.

Engine began making ticking noises while stationary and while driving and engine check light came on.took it to dealer; dealer changed oil & filter and said problem was bad oil filter causing low oil pressure.engine check light came on again a few weeks later. Returned to dealer; technician has found metal shavings in the oil and expects complete engine failure in the future.

Engine burned up all the oil and seized up, metal shaving were found in oil pan. We noticed thick black smoke coming from the tailpipe and got to the dealership as it stopped working, same issue that's happened to the motors that were already recalled, but no recall on this vin.

I had my car in for the recall for the catalytic converters when i first got the notification about it and it has already had to be fixed again for the same thing since then and is starting to act up again the same way. Sometimes i can smell it and also noticed my car is not accelerating like it should. I'm afraid my car isn't safe.

Vehicle was running fine, suddenly smoke came out and car turned off. As per mechanic, vehicle overheated, coolant was all over the engine. No check engine light on nor previous indication of overheating. Vehicle model falls under kia recall sc176 but claim is being denied.

Takata recall. Ok so this engine recall that i'm just now hearing about my car isn't on the list. It states built up gasses cause engine nocking witch mine has. And i was wondering if y'all could add me to the list so i can get my car fixed

I purchased a kia soul 2013 + brand new in 2013, on 5/13/2017 the check oil light came on while i was driving, i pulled over and checked the oil and it was low even though i had recently had the oil changed, i put 2 qts of oil in the car, but every time i drove the car began making a noise whenever i accelerated. While driving the car on 5/14/17 the check engine light came on and the noise persisted. Though the car was still drivable, i had it towed to the kia dealership on 5/15/17 where i purchased the car to the service department. Later that day i was told that the motor had gone out in my car when i asked why i was told that the mechanic had left. The following day on 5/16/17 i called the dealership back and was told that there sludge in my motor caused from oil being burned in the motor and the sludge was not able to filter though the motor. I was told that it would cost approximately $4220 to replace it with a used motor. The next day on 5/17/17 i was online looking for cheaper motors when i ran across articles regarding the 2016 recall of 600,000+ other kia vehicles all with defective engines. After reading what happened to the other engines i realized that the same thing was happening to my engine. I called kia customer assistance center and a case was made regarding my car. On 5/31/17 i was told that my case had been escalated to the escalation agent. Today, on 6/5/2017 brenda the escalation agent called to notify me that kia would not cover my car because it has over 100k miles on it and because there is sludge located in the engine. I told yes, that is why i wanted kia to look into it because it a vehicle with barely 114k miles on it that is 4 years old and with maintenance that was kept up the engine shouldn't have been burning oil to produce sludge in it. I was told i would need to request more work to be done on the car to see if the motor was defective.

Takata recall my 2013 kia soul had been a great car for almost 5 years now. Out of no where when i was driving my car it just started to make this really loud knocking and ticking sound. The check engine light came on and it shuts off while i'm driving. I got it to turn on i took it to kia they did the diagnosis its an engine failure my rod is faulty the guy said but my warranty apparently just ended but how does my 5 year old car have engine failure out of the blue it only has 56.263 miles on it i only use it locally i maintenance my car how does this happen.

Was driving my 2013 kia soul and it threw a rod and my engine locked up. I found out that there was a recall on the catalytic converter. Dealership said they tried to run a diagnostic and it said engine failure after they replaced the recalled catalytic converter.

The contact owned a 2013 kia soul. The contact's wife informed him of an abnormal odor on the outside of the vehicle. Approximately 45 minutes later, the vehicle caught on fire. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was destroyed by the fire. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified, but did not assist. The failure mileage was 45,000.

At 97000 miles the engine began a ticking noise. All fuel and oil levels were appropriate. Less than 2 weeks after that noise began before i could get into a service appointment, i was driving down the highway, the ticking got louder then made a poof noise and the car died. No internal or external lights, nothing.i coasted to the shoulder. I had it towed to a shop where they stated that a rod had come apart and the engine now had a hole in the side and would need to be replaced.

Nhtsa campaign id 19v120000: the sc176 recall on my car was repaired may 30, 2019. Earlier this year my car began showing the signs of the further damage noted in the recall details. In april 2020 my car randomly stalled when in motion on a city street and the check engine light came on. I was able to coast off the road and eventually start the car again. The pandemic prevented me from having it serviced at my kia dealership or elsewhere. Since april, this has occurred five times, both on city streets and the highway while in motion. The highway event was frightening as i was in heavy traffic travelling at 60 mph. My local one stop oil change re-opened and i was able to get an oil change may 5, 2020 at 110,431, then again on august 24, 2020 at 114,121 miles at one stop (receipt attached). A week later my engine oil pressure warning light came on despite the recent oil change. I added oil, but in two weeks the level is again low and i put in 2 quarts. I took it to the kia service center september 16, 2020 at 115,179, and the oil was again low as shown on the attached receipt. Kia service was unable to determine the cause of the lost oil. Although my car had the repair performed for the recall, i'm afraid the piston has been damaged, causing the engine stalls. My oil is leaking out somewhere, so i fear it may be the broken connecting rod that has punctured the engine block allowing the engine oil to escape. The kia quote for the brake, exhaust and tire work was expensive, so i had a friend's expert mechanic do the repairs for less. He warned me that the oil was leaking out and the engine may blow and i'll need a new engine, and strongly suggested i sell the car before that occurs. I cannot, in good conscience, sell it knowing the risk to a new owner. I hope this explanation will lead to kia repairing my car properly.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that she check the oil level a month after an oil change was performed and became aware that the oil level was low. The oil level warning light recently illuminated and the dealer recommended that the engine be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,800.

Engine shut down lost all oil. Kia took it to dealership where they say it's because i changed my own oil and had a kink in filter. I have changed my oil for years do most of my own work build trucks for a living no way this is possible i changed the oil about 4 months ago it would have leaked the 1st time i drove it. Kia corporate and dealer stand. Be there tech. Theres fixing to be a recall that describes my issue to the detail. The corporate lady i spoke to when it happend said it sounded just like the recall that's fixing to come out. Had it towed to dealer then they back track. There is no way this is possible a mechanic i know said he has had 3 or 4 in the last 2 years come in his garage for same thing. Anything yall can do to help me thanks. Wife was driving to work like normal engine just died no noise no lights nothing

My daughter was driving my 2013 kia soul, 2.0 engine, on the interstate when the car had a sudden lose of power. Within a minute or so there was a loud pop and smoke rolling out behind. After being towed and inspected we see that the oil mid pan failed. There is a large crack in the cast aluminum just behind the oil filter. I was told this much back pressure in the engine probably means a clogged or faulty catalytic converter. I have noticed a lot of similar complaints from other kia owners. Called kia and was told this in not covered by any warranty or recall. *as

Car started to consume oil and some knocking coming from the engine. Took it to deland kia with my recall notice recal#19v120 .jon at deland kiastated he needed to do oil change and go from there. Had oil change on the 2/24/20 returned 3/7/20 almost no oil. He agreed it had no oil and needed to run some testing on it . Jon stated i needed to pay $99.95 for a diagnostic. Why would i pay when it's a recall. He stated my car is not covered on the recall because my car has high miles.told him that's absurd it is kia responsibility to take ownership for faulty engines and equipment.that's when i also told him the steering column is cranking again. Which was a recall and they deland kia, claimed to fix. Jon stated he spoke to kia and i didn't qualify for anything once again stating high mileage. I stated to jon it has 154,000 miles, it is impossible a car that has never had any issues to not be covered under the recall. Needless to say i left very upset and my car did not feel right when accelerating. Came straight home. On sunday 3/8/20 i went to the store and my car started to rattle and shake and make noise as i was driving in a normal city road almost causing me to crash into another vehicle because i became scared and had no control of it. I was able to park my car in a business parking area and it sits there still today 3/09/2020.it is weird when i checked this site about my vehicles recall there was 1 now it has been cleared.

For the past 6 months i have been to the car dealer for headlights and other lights out on the car as welll and the steering column is making clicking noises.

I cannot, in good conscience, sell it knowing the risk to a new owner. I hope this explanation will lead to kia repairing my car properly.

Stalled while on the interstate. Will not start back up since.

2013 kia soul, just at 90kmiles, consuming motor oil at a rate of .75 quarts per 1000 miles according to kia dealer conducting three oil consumption tests. Kia contends this is normal. Changed pcv valve during second oil consumption test with no effect on oil consumption. The car is driven around town, moderate distances, daily. The oil has been changed by local garages and the dealer at 5k mile incrememts. This issue began just after the kia catalytic converter recall notice

On april 3rd, 2018 after stopping at a stop sign my car would not move when stepping on the gas pedal.then it stalled out and would not start.had help come within 30 minutes and when we tried to start it again, it did start and i drove it home.no engine lights came on.my husband changed the crank shaft sensor after researching online for the problem and talking to mechanics about it.ran fine until may 1, 2018, as i was driving on the freeway in cruise control doing 65mph my car suddenly started slowing down.i had no trouble lights on.i pulled off to the side of the freeway and put it in park.when i revved the gas pedal the rpms went up.i sat for a minute and then put it in drive and when i released the brake it started to roll forward.i waited for the traffic to clear then gave it gas and i was able to get back on the freeway and brought the car home safely.we have been trying to figure out what is wrong but with no trouble lights coming on the dash and being unable to have a scanner check it d/t no trouble lights coming on we are clueless.please check into this, it was very scary being on the freeway and having this happen.

Model car burns oil extremely quickly regardless of miles driven, no leaks found by mechanic, pistons have been replaced three times in the last six months. Steering wheel makes a knocking noise that started within the last three months.

Vehicle began making a noise and seemingly not getting gas anymore and came to a complete stop right in the middle of rush hour traffic.. I tried starting it and it would not start unless i pumped the gas petal, which sent plumes of white smoke and awfully strong gas odor. The car did this all the way home. I called a mechanic and he did a diagnostic test on it and said it was caused by one of two sensors. Three mechanics said the vehicle could have caught on fire and possibly exploded while i was driving it because it was dumping fuel on the engine. They said had there been one spark from the spark plugs that my car would have most likely blown up. I am scared to drive this car now and i don't know what to do at this point.

Very soon after we bought the car new, we drove to ca. During the drive, i noticed that when i would slow to turn (like into a drive or parking lot) the car would act like it had a vapor lock- starved for fuel. I would pump the gas a couple of times and the car would respond (sometimes violently). This was at less than6k miles. After trips to the dealer, who rode along with me and kept the car overnight for the manager to drive, they returned it saying they could not replicate my issue. So, nothing could be done. Two such complaints and i'm 30k miles further along with the issue still present. This is a definite safety issue!

It's been a lot of complications with the car steering collar car make a loud sound while driving over 60mphknock sensor causes a lot of problems with holding gasengine is very loud

2013 kia soul.consumer writes in regards to problems on the dash board involving the light indicator for the head lights and parking lights.the consumer did not know, his headlights were not on. He discovered the indicator displayed the same picture for the parking lights and the headlights. The consumer stated the second time, as he entered his parking spot, it became obvious the headlights were not on, yet the dash board indicated there were.

Our 2013 kia soul only has one manual door lock which is located on the driver door.when the temperature is below freezing, the key becomes extremely hard to turn or won't turn at all.if the key breaks while someone is attempting to open the door, there is no other lock to allow the person to enter the vehicle with a second key.this is the only car which i have known to only have one means of unlocking the doors to the vehicle, that is, the driver side door lock.the car should be required to have at least two locks so that if one person breaks the key while trying to open the lock in freezing conditions a relative can use a second lock and spare key to open the other lock.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated while driving 55-60 mph, the vehicle was shaking and failed to accelerate. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed there were grooves in the engine block. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 190,000.

My car hesitates when i round a corner or turn on to a highway one day a truck was behind a 18 wheeler scared me and my passenger. Now for the last few months this car is shaking all the time not only when i stop but even when i am drive kia in athens ga say they can not do anything about it. They say this is natural to happen . No this is not natural it is embarrassing and scary. I do not want this car anymore and i really do not like putting other people lives in danger in a 3 year old car. I have tried talking to them -they are not listening they keep saying it up to the company in atlanta. If anything happen to me in this car i told my family to suite the socks off of kia.

Brake switch failed.my brake lights no longer worked and power steering was disabled, making the car impossible to drive.could not get car out of "park" without using override button.car needed to be towed to kia dealer.this switch has been recalled on 1.6 million kia's but my car was not included but should be added.not sure how long i was driving without brake lights working.i'm glad i never use my cruise control as pressing the brake peddle would not disengage the cruise control function.

Bought the kia soul new in august 2012. Since november 2014 at approximately 30k miles the car has developed a sudden pronounced hard downshift in the transmission when slowing down to a stop. It's as though the brake were abruptly applied. This has been a constant problem since then being worse in cold weather and made driving the cara safety concern.the car has been to the kia westside dealer in katy texas three times thus far. First time they dealership checked brakes only despite being told it was the transmission that was sudden hard downshifting; they did not test drive the car. We weretold only the brakes were checked and are good. Second time the same service department test drove the car early in morning and experienced the sudden hard downshift and agreed there was a problem. The dealer stated the transmission was replaced; cannot confirm, will assume they did. The problemstill remained absolutely no change. The car went back to the dealer for a third try a month later. Thelocal dealership service department then contacted the kia technical support department; the dealership was told there is no problem with the car as it is designed and manufactured. The dealership at the time had another 2023 kia soul in with same problem and checking internet found other owners of kia's with same complaint. The safety in driving the caris a concern now with a mind that it will get worse and perhaps later cause an accident.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the instrument panel failed to illuminate when the vehicle was powered on. Additionally, the contact mentioned that the gear shifter would not move out of park without the contact pushing the gear release button. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while exiting the vehicle, the seat belt retractor failed to retract the seat belt. The failure caused the seat belt buckle to be caught inside the door frame of the vehicle and was bent. The contact stated that the buckle no longer fits into the receiver. The vehicle was taken to family kia of st.augustine located at 2665 u.s. Highway 1 south, st. Augustine, fl 32086,(904) 808-0542, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the retractor, receiver, and buckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 37,504.

Driver's seat collapsed in the center. The car likes to fishtail on bumpy roads causing some loss of control. The car vibrates at 60 plus mph

This is more than 50 rpm.american car would probably log error if car did that.causes car to lurch unexpectedly when pulling out of driveway.

I had 3 people in the back seat but the centerseat belt would not stay locked from the start. This didnt change regardless of how many times it was attempted. It has since been replaced by dealerbecause i complained it was a safety issue when i have 3 people in the back seat.the car has always had a smallgradual driftto the right. Dealer didn't find anything.later i had the alignment done by someone else. They showed me both front and rear driver side tires could not be aligned to true. They said the front will be fixed by new strut but back is a straight axle that cant be aligned. The car always drifted right and still does. I bought the car from the dealer with 10 miles on it

After buckling the seat belt on the front passenger seat and going down the road if you try to lean forward one finds that the seat belt is locked and will not permit any movement you have to release the seat belt and then return it to its parked position and then pull it back out again. Once that has been done you can move forward or pull on the belt only once before it locks up again. I feel very unsafe when the seat belt does this because i feel that in a serious accident one might not be able to release the seat belt if there was a lot of tension on the belt from its own tightening. One should be free to lean forward to open the glove compartment or turn to attend to matters in the back seats. I have actually simulated a scenario where there was extreme tension on the belt from pushing back in my seat and tightening the belt by pushing the belt back up over my shoulder and when i tried to release the belt it was so hard to press the release button that i had to ask my wife to get a rubber mallet and a long screwdriverso that i could hit the release button with the screw driver against the release button. It finally di disengage. I told my wife to go to the dealer and tell them to fix it and she was told there was nothing wrong with it. We now have a2015 kia soul and the seat belts do the same thing. The only advantage with the 2015 is that the seats are wider and as such its not to hard to get the screwdriver against the release button to disengage the seat belt. I find this situation to be extremely unsafe and in certain situations this problem could be the root cause of fatalities.i have mentioned this to the dealerin regard to the 2015 and they said they checked it and it works fine.it does not work fine by any standard. I think the dealer/kia know ther's a problem but need to be told to fix it.

Radio/backing camera stopped working.had camera replaced earlier.radio comes on but plays no sounds.

Driver's seat collapsed in the center. The car likes to fishtail on bumpy roads causing some loss of control. The car vibrates at 60 plus mph

Starting in 2018, on 6 occasions and at least 3 times in 2019, when i try to brake the car actually accelerates.it has happened while driving on streets and in parking lots.i have taken it to 2 dealers and both have been unable to assist me, as they say they can't duplicate the problem.i have read that several different kias in different years have had this same problem.

The brakes' vacuum chamber or a valve have gone bad.the peddle is hard to press when vehicle is cranked an baking out.also, noticed when idling, the brake becomes stiff after a slight depression of the pedal.sometimes the car cannot be started as the brake pedal cannot be depressed far enough to allow the start button to work.over time, the front steering has become loose and wobbliliy, causing the driver to over correct steering to keep the car straight on the road. The vehicle has 62,000 miles on it, it shouldn't be having these types of problems this soon.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that an abnormal noise was heard from the vehicle when the brakes were applied. Additionally, the brake pedal seized without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 35.

Brand new car purchased 04/06/13 and has 2900 miles and brakes squeak. Brakes have been squeaking since may but unable to leave it due to long periods of waiting for car. Was told by service manager that brakes are glazed and its common and happens and they will deglaze but it will keep happening because its just the brakes. I have owned and driven many cars and never had this problem prior to this vehicle and the van i have that is also manufactured by the same parent company and had the same problems. I was told that it glazed because my van was heavy but this new car is very small and light. A customer in the waiting area saidhe has never heard of glazing and worked on cars for 30 years. I believe that these cars made from hyundai/kia are made with cheap parts that have to be replaced often and that's how the make up for cheaply sold cars. I need help figuring out how to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while attempting to stop, the brakes malfunctioned creating an extended stopping distance. The contact indicated that during the incident the brake pedal was difficult to depress and the brakes appeared to be skipping. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 14,000.

When in motion the car would sputter and struggle to reach speeds over 30 mph. Multiple times the check engine light would come on and read as a knock sensor. Replaced the knock sensor but the car continued to struggle to accelerate and would sputter. Took it to kia and they discovered it was the hydraulic module. They fixed it costing me $1500. I discovered the other day that my car has a recall for another issue but saw the car has an investigation on going about this issue.

The car went in for it's first yearly inspection and the kia dealer said the back rotors were rusty and wanted to charge 110 dollars to clean them. They eventually cleaned them under the warranty. The back rotors were rusty because the back brakes never worked since it was new. Now since the back brakes never worked the front and back brakes need replaced at 26,000 miles and kia won't assume any of the cost as they are saying that is normal. The car has been very unsafe to drive since it was new without back brakes and the dealership should have noticed that during the first inspection.

My brakes make this screeching sound when backing up, after having only 2 months. They would also not hold sometimes. The 3 most frightening was 1. Almost ran over a person, 2. Ran out into intersect with entire family in car b 4 stopping 3. With my boys in car on way to school going down hill brakes won't catch. I called dealership it took them almost a wk to get me in shop to say they can't find anything wrong.didn't drive it though. The person that you as to call and get me in waited til mon to call. I had call corp. Office and was told to bring in sat b 4 that. Wasn't offered a rental or another car til what was wrong was fixed. The brake issue has been going on off and on for months. I bought this soul new off show room floor. After months of going back and forth with this, corp sent to another location that told me brakes do this cause car outside condensation causing it. This not first new car never happened b 4, after other dealership keeps a week they couldn't duplicate problem, i haven't driven my car much got in it other day creep to store backed up again brakes didn't hold ran into shrubbery and a wall. Called bbb to file complaint under lemon law. Want different vehicle. Just saw to that kia doing a recall over there because of brakes, they know something wrong why not just take the car back & let me get another this is just bad business. If i run over something, someone or injury myself they're going to b out of more. They got right person not giving up til wrong made right. The kia soul braking system is substandard. They all know this too.

I was driving in traffic with my son in the car. When i went to brake with the clutch depressed, the car would not stop for a handful of seconds until if finally stopped just in back of but not touching a bmw in front of us.we both heard a scraping/pulsing sound coming from the brakes as the pedal was fully depressed but the car was still going forward.had the car not stopped just short of the car ahead i fear me and my son would have been seriously injured.i saw a similar complaint on carcomplaints.com which indicated this was also a nhtsa complaint.this car has similar mileage (12800) and was a 2013 kia soul.

At stop light, brake pedal went to floor and vehicle started to move forward into intersection. Thankfully no vehicles were at that intersection at that time! after five or fewer seconds the brakes caught and i was able to stop the vehicle.

When i stop suddenly there is a terrible sound in my front right brake, and the pedal got stuck and hard, cannot stop the car completely.i feel mineand others lifeare on risk driving this specific car, something it's terrible wrong for the fist time that i start driving this kia soul 2013, brand new.please, i really need your help, i do not feel safety.

My car died while driving on highway going 75mph with 70k miles thats about when a vehicle should be breaking in not breaking down. My steering wheel is loose, gas play. The radio sometimes doesnt come on and my engine just sounds clogged

I took my vehicle for state emission & inspection. Upon testing, the mechanic showed me the rotors and brake pads, they were missing pcs.i was told that i "failed testing" because of this and was not able to take possession of my vehicle or drive away from the shop, in the current condition, as it was unsafe and against the state law.i had to complete all necessary repairs at that time.i have extended warranty (bumper to bumper with kia) as i had no choice to drive it to the kia dealer for repairs.i asked the mechanic if he had seen this type of defects on other soul vehicles and his reply was yes, all the time.

During braking and hitting small hole in road i noticed the brakes skipping and brake pedal jumping up and down as if it was a power defect.i had the same effect happen after bad rain and approaching a red light the car skipped to the stop.when it snowed out the brakes really skipped made noise and seemed to slipand would not stop.i figured the car was new or the brakes are adjusting kind to speed but now know there is something wrong. March is the first whole month i own the car and this is time to call the dealer and get this figured out. There was witness in the car on 2 of 3 occasions.

I bought a kia soul 2013 used with 12,400 miles on it saturday may 31, 2014.wednesday june 4, 2014 i was tapping on my brakes to stop for a light when i heard a clicking sound not very loud but a click.the kia soul did not stop.i pressed on the brakes a little harder my car did not stop for another foot or two.thank god there was not another car in front of me or i would have hit the other car for certain.i am scared to drive my car.the kia soul is also pulling to the right i took the car in tuesday june 3, 2014 had the check out was told the alignment was good the reason for pulling was because each tire had different pressure, was told that all tires were the now the same pressure.driving the car to work today the kia soul again started pulling to the right. I am also having a problem finding out to register that i bought a used kia soul 2013 that still is under manufacture warranty.i did not but the kia soul from a kia dealership.

The vehicle has been making scraping noises when the brake is applied.my mechanic assumed it was the front brakes although it only has 14k miles on it.the front brakes and rotors are fine but the back rotors have grooves through them and the brakes themselves are mottled looking. Concerned that this is a mechanical problem and the car is still under warranty, the mechanic told me to contact the dealer. I took it to the dealer who said #1-he could not hear the scraping and #2-the brakes are fine with plenty of wear left on them.when i questioned why the back rotors would wear before the front and why they would be worn at all with only 14k he had no answer.since there was enough wear remaining on the rear rotors there was no action required by them.master cylinder?e-brake?

The vehicle presentgrinding noise while turning to the left or righ when driving.i went to the dealer and after they checked my car they told me to increase the volume of the radio so i do not have to hear the noise because it is not a safety problem.

Clunking noise from steering wheel when i go on a bumpy road or turn steering wheel from side to side. While in motion or stationary.

I was driving on a straight city road at 35 mph and my car weaved 3 times within .2 mile.my hands were steady and not moving on steering wheel. It swerved all by itself.. . zig zag style.then it stopped weaving and drove straight again.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving low speeds and while the vehicle was stationary, an abnormal noise was detected coming from the steering wheel when it was turned left or right. The vehicle was taken to sunset kia of sarasota (7777 s tamiami trail, sarasota, fl 34231, (941) 308-7707) where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000. *

When driving or in park steeringmakes loud clicking noise if turned left or right.this happens at all speeds and in all driving conditions.it is steadily getting louder and worse.the noise is coming from the steering column area.steering does not feel stable.there is a 2014 kia soul recall that seems to be for same problem.this recall should be expanded to cover the 2013 models

Loud bumping noise in the steering

Steering wheel makes clicking sound when steering and also while vehicle is not.in motion. After much research, i believe it is the steering coupler which is very dangerous to drive due to the chance of steering wheel locking up while driving. I should not have to pay for this since many other people online are reporting the same exact problem. I have not received a recall notice, but i am scared of driving my car if it is not fixed right away. This is a hazardous problem and it needs to be addressed.

Steering is shaking and requiring need to turn wheel more than usual to turn when driving. Making noise when driving.

I suddenly started hearing a knocking sound coming from my steering column. I noticed it when i would make u-turns and when parking into a parking lane. After a day or two, the knocking began to be more frequent. I can be driving down the highway or stationary and the knocking will occur with a slight turn of the steering wheel also causing by wheel to be very loose.i dropped my vehicle off at the local kia dealership service department and they recommended the steering coupler be replaced. I declined services at that time and took my vehicle to another kia dealership. All i did was pull into the service department lane and spoke to a service department employee explaining what issues i am having with my steering and he immediately said " i don't even have to look at your car i know what the problem is; it is the steering coupler, we see this all the time but kia will not recall the soul model for this issue." i then went home and researched kia vehicles to find the optima vehicles had the same issue and were recalled. I then called the customer service 1-800 -333-4542 and submitted a complaint stating i do not feel safe driving and asked why this issue has not been recalled on souls as i see many complaints online about this issue and other kia models have been recalled for the same problem. My information was taken and i am expecting a call within the next couple of days from the department parts and service manager as the warranty expired after 60,000 miles and i currently 66,815 miles. I believe kia should be held responsible for this issue since they are aware of this ongoing problem with their product!

Steering wheel clicking when turning left or right and has play in steering.

Steering wheel clicks or knocks when moving or stationary when turning the wheel to left or right. At speeds of 75+ mph the steering wheel clicks and shakes on its own without any turning input. Seems like a similar issue to other kia recalls associated with the steering coupler.

When turning my wheel at low speeds my steering clunks in the column and feels like it is going to come apart. I am scared i am going to loose stearing control. This happens all the time at low speeds or while in a parking lot. It started a month ago and is getting worse. I saw a recall on this but my car is not affe ted and should be.

Mpds coupler teeth broken offother years and models covered under recallbut not 2013. Same part same application dealer wants charge $400+ to fix this manufactured defect with another plastic gear that will break in a few years of age.clicking sound when you start to turn the steering wheel afraid when all teeth in gear break going to have no control over steering dealer has tsp on this but its a safety issue

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the steering emitted a clicking sound when turned to the left or right with an abnormal vibration. The vehicle was taken to (deland kia located at 2322 south woodland boulevard, deland, florida, 32720, (866) 809-7175, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a failure in the steering coupler. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 35,162.

Steering wheel makes a clunking noise when turning to the left or the right. 31000 miles. Dealer said is out of warranty. What to do?

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving approximately 5 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from under the steering column. As a result, the steering wheel became difficult to turn as the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,336.

In april 2017, i was making a left turn and suddenly the steering locked and my car started going into the oncoming lane.i braked immediately and just missed being hit head on by oncoming traffic.a policeman happened to be close by and came over to help.i very frightened, kept my foot on the brake, but wasn't sure what to do next.he suggested putting the car in park, turning the motor off, and then starting it again.i did that, and the steering was back.so, i pulled over to a parking lot at that intersection.aaa had the car towed to a repair shop (p&l $1702.68 + 7% tx119.88 = $ 1821.19). I thought the problem was solved; however, in the past month, the steering has locked again twice.i am afraid to drive my car (not to mention putting my grandchildren in it) and am planning to contact the manufacturer and a local dealer.i searched the vin on your nhtsa site, but no recalls show..incidentally, i purchased the vehicle from hertz rental sales (january 2016).

Over the past several months, steering has developed a clicking sound and some play when the steering wheel is moved back and forth at rest and moving, and steering vibration that suddenly happens when doing 70 mph.'2007-2014$5 coupling p/n 563152k000fff used on 200 models of kia and hyundai'may 22, 2014kiatsb-cha044optimas, souls, fortes 2010-2014identifies defective coupling; repair cost $250-$500'august 16, 2016kiatsb-cha072optimasadjusts man hours; offers free replacement and extended warranty under its customer satisfaction / warranty extension program (cs1604)stating 'kia's analysis has identified that this condition occurs in extremely high humidity states adjacent to warm ocean waters due to wear of the flexible coupling.' then goes on to identify 9 states including florida, where warranty replacement is authorized.'for vehicles sold or register in all other states, kia is extending the warranty on the flexible coupling to 10 years/unlimited miles.''august 16, 2016kiatsb-cha074 souls and fortesadjusts man hours; repair cost is still $250-$500'jan. 2017hyundaiissued extended warranty on all effected models.why are optima owners getting a free replacement or extended warranty while soul and forte owners are paying $250-$500 dollars for the diagnostics and repair of the same problem?it is my opinion that a new tsb should be issued to include the effected souls and fortes in the kia customer satisfaction / warranty extension program.i feel this problem should get national attention if not acted upon by kmai.

Clicking noise heard when steering wheel turned.progressed to clunking in wheel while turning and shaking on rough road surfaces at any speed.front end alignment and balance determined to be correct and tires not abnormally worn.problem diagnosed by dealership to be worn and failing coupler in steering column.

While driving on thehighway as i went into my turn i noticed that the steeringfunction was hard. The steering wheel and stability/ traction control lights came on. It was very difficult for me to drive the vehicle on my planned route to work. Due to the holiday the dealership is not open today and the vehicle that i purchased to be dependable is proving to be no longer that.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact heard a knocking sound coming from the steering knuckles when the steering wheel was turned. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,851.

Rack and pinion sound

For 5 months there has been a thumping noise in the steering columnwhen turning2 complete revolutions ie: when parking or truning into a drive thru lane and just 3 days ago my steering wheel seems like it jumped a notch and although its still driving straight the steering wheel has changed position about 5 to 7 degrees to the left...

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel made a clicking noise when turned. The contact also stated that the steering wheel felt loose. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

A flexible coupling in the steering system was broken and had to be replaced. I was told that the kia optimas were having the same problem my daugthers kia has the same problem, she owns a 2013 kia as well the charge is $366.00 for a rubber coupling. Had a very bad noise when turning and were concern as far as loosing the steering system while driving.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized without warning and could not be turned in either direction. Deland kia (2322 s woodland blvd, deland, fl 32720, (386) 734-7800) was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v332000 (steering), 17v608000 (steering), and 15v736000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000. The vin was unknown.

For cable cooler ( steering)brakes causing a clunking noise and makes steering sloppy.danger rating 7.6 should be recalled!

While driving or stationary, i noticed a clicking sound in my steering wheel when moving it from side to side. I googled this and saw multiple complaints about this issue; however the recalls were not for the 2013 kia soul's. I called kia customer service @ 1-800-333-4542 and they said that i would have to take it to the dealer have it diagnosed @ $143.00 but cannot guarantee they would pay for the repair. I called the kia dealership in delray beach, fl and was told that the kia optima was recalled for this issue, but they have been getting more and more kia souls coming in with this same problem. The cost for repair would be $400.00 +. I should not be held responsible for this since kia is aware this part is of poor design and fails prematurely. Kia should be recalling all models since this is a safety concern and all models have the same defective mdps coupler in the steering column. I feel that anyone driving a kia is at risk.

Noise in steering column . Mechanic noticed it as well when i took it in for an oil change!

Recently while driving my steering was feeling slightly hung or not steering a little when i turned the wheel.now the car seems like it has some play in the steering wheel and makes a clunking when i turn the steering wheel from one side to the other.i figure it is something with an electronic power steering under the steering wheel after looking it up on the internet.i am not quite sure if it is safe to drive.i was concerned when turning curves at 65 mph and it was feeling hung up & not quite right.this is an ongoing problem at this point.

My steering warning light has come on twice and i have completely lost all power steering. I took my car to my kia dealership and they told me it's not a covered repair but it should be because it is a safety issue and makes the car a danger to drive

Steering has play and makes a clunking noice when turned left or right while moving.

At around 69k miles i had a new set of tires put on the car.when i got it back about a few days later i noticed when i was stopped a clicking noise that i could feel in the wheel.it seems to track straight down the road but has some slack in the wheel itself.took the car back to pep boys and they said it was a know kia issue to call the deal.so today 9/7/18 called orlando kia today they said there is no recalls steering related but they would love to have a look. I bet.doing some research its all over the internet and utube that the steering damper rubber star shaped damper disintegrates and that is what makes the slop in the wheel.the part number i am seeing is 56315-2k000fff and is less than 5" at the dealer.observing different costs online depending on make and model from 225$ to 1800$ to replace. This is a dangerous situation and should have been recalled and fixed no questions asked.

Have started noticing a clicking sound from the steering column when i turn, this happens while stationary or in motion, this could become a major safety issue. I have read on line thatkia is aware and covers 2014 and 2015 but not 2013 year this seems totally unfair.

The vehicle makes the noise stationary and in motion is loud feels like the steering wheel is coming apart i seen videos of the problem on youtube there are many and how to fix it kia has not recall the year 2013 model plz what can we do.

The steering wheel of our 2013 soul is making a clunking sound. The vehicle only has 31,000 miles on it and from what i've read it seems to be the rack and pinion. I'm worried that i will lose steering while driving and the dealership i bought it from will not fix it even though all the optima's and kia souls 2014-17 have been recalled. I've seen youtube videos highlighting this defect going back to 2011 so kia was obviously aware of the issue.

Steering wheel clicking when turning left or right and has play in steering.

The steering wheel is clicking and it is getting progressively worse.2 opinions cite the rack and pinion steering.it is acting just like the description of the 2014-2016 recalled kia souls.

About two months ago i had a slight jerk in steering wheel and it just got worse, i heard clunking noise, steering was loose and jerky, unstable driving. Took it too kia and they did a performed a express service multi-point inspection andconfirmed noiseand stated it needed a new a flexible coupling and a new eps motor and alignment. Only flexible coupling was replaced through extended warranty, no alignment or eps motor was done. I have looked through websites of complaints and kia soul 2013 has been reported but no action has been taken. If i wouldn't have had an extended warranty i wouldn't have gotten the coupling replaced, but more is required such as eps motor and an alignment which was purchased already in april of 2018. This needs to be researched and fixed asap as a recall as it it a danger for anyone to be driving a kia soul with this issue

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. When the steering wheel was turned in either direction, a clicking noise was present and the steering wheel felt loose. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 26,675. The vin was unknown.

I have clincking inside steering wheel related to the pinion plug lose, causing steering to stuck and shak crazy in the highway ,i went to dealer they charged me $189.00 for diagnosis, they confirmed the problem with pinion plug problem but they wanna charge me height price witch i can not afford, and i left with unsafe car.nhtsa has to force the problem as recall to stop car dealer for raping us off.by the way the car was in fatal crash with the first owner cause it s title to be rebuild ,i don't know what cause it but you can find out,may be the steering was a fact.ask previous owner for more infos.please make steering as a recall soon as possible.thanks for listening to us.

I had a serious issue with my steering yesterday.when i tried to parallel park my car yesterday, i turned the steering wheel both left and right to try and park and then i heard loud clunking noises in both directions until my steering wheel gave to the point where it could turn all the way around without turning the wheels at all. It's my understanding that others with my same year of kia soul are reporting the same and starting in 2014, there was a safety recall. 2013 should be included in the recall because had i been driving, i could have been in a very serious accident.

The steering column would pop and make noises while driving . The steering was very loose and every time you hit a bump the steering wheel will wobble extremely bad almost uncontrollably. The steering coupler was bad . Could not go over 55 mph cause it would cause the steering wheel to wobble bad .

When in motion the steering makes a clunking sound moving either left or right .when engine is not in motion it does not . The symptom appears to be the same as the recall done for 2014 model kia souls ... I believe my car should be in the recall

There was a clicking noise coming from the steering column everytime it moved even a fraction of an inch. As i was driving to work one morning, the steering wheel locked up on me while i was changing lanes. It was only for 5-10 seconds but it scared me.it was a dangerous situation.there is a recall on this make model and year for the exact same issue.my car missed it by a few days, literally.several certified techs, including the kia dealership techs all confirmed that it was similar to the recall with steering column issues. The dealership fixed it but i had to pay for it.

Last year i took my vehicle to billion auto in iowa city (2 hours from where i live) to get my recall serviced. At this time my vehicle was losing power. When i took it to the dealership they had it in and out in 15-20 minutes and they said only had to do an update. Which was irritating, considering i had asked them to check my catalytic converter and they didn't. Because prior to that a mechanic in my town thought something could have been wrong with it. Well here i am in 2020, and i went back to this dealership (this is the only kia in my area). Last year in may there was a recall for the mdps coupling. The letter also stated that they extended the warranty to 100,000 miles- i'm right around 96,500 miles so i am still covered.i called the dealership and asked to get it fixed since i was experiencing noises in my steering wheel turning left or right/ and when vehicle is stopped. They said yes, i spoke with the service advisor and he told me that i would be covered. So i took my car up there thursday the 28th to get this serviced. Another worker told me in person my coupling wasn't that bad, and i could always come back in the future to get it repaired. He then further told me that my power-steering rack was making a little noise too, but that wouldn't need to be repaired for another 5-10 years.then he charged me $65 dollars for a diagnostic fee, which is completely wrong. I called kia cooperate, spoke with numerous of folks. I was told on thursday by cooperate that they called the dealership and told them my complaint. But there was nothing they could do. So i called cooperate back demanding to talk to my case worker, [xxx] which she hasn't called me back. I feel like they aren't taking me serious. I've had two past recalls on this vehicle, and wasn't handled appropriately. I also shouldn't of been charged a diagnostic fee. I want a refund as well.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the power steering failed without warning and the steering assist warning light illuminated on three different occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 850.

There is a clunking noise while driving or turning. Too much "play" in steering wheel.it feels like it will come apart. Happens know matter how fast i go. Even when back up.

Clunk noise similar to recall affecting 2014-2016 vehicles, steering seems loose and a clunking noise is heard , the noise occurs in parki or in motion

While parked or at slow rate of speed the steering column makes a clunking sound when the wheel is turned either direction. The sound is also present while traveling on a bumpy road at a slow rate of speed. There is play in the steering wheel or the steering feels loose and the steering wheel vibrates while traveling on the interstate at 70mph (unknown if all related). I have had new tires recently put on and balanced and thought the problem was the need for new tires, however, the problem is still there and hasn't been diagnosed or corrected. It isn't an alignment problem because it has been checked and the steering does not pull any ddirection.the suspension has also checked out ok and appears to be unrelated.

For the past 6 months i have been to the car dealer for headlights and other lights out on the car as welll and the steering column is making clicking noises.

There is a clunking noise in the steering and play when the car engine is running. This happens while the car is stationary and moving. Appears to be the power steering motor damper that has affected many hyundai and kia models. Vehicle currently has58,000 miles on it.

Steering coupler failed at 49000 miles

Started with a clunk sound, then all of a sudden the vehicle would not steer. I was in a mass of traffic so my speed at the time was slow and i was able to drift onto the side of the road luckily. Dealership tells me the vin is not in the recall, but i see this same problem recalled half a million times. They will not fix the issue, which comes at a tune of $1600.

At around 60,000 miles, began to notice clunking noise and slight wobble with steering column. At first it was minimal, but has gotten progressively worse and now hear new squeaking/grinding noises when turning at lower speeds or when stopped. Recently researched and saw that many other people have been experiencing this same issue with this model (the 2010-2013 builds), with a video regarding this issue on youtube having more than 40,000 views as of writing this (https://youtu.be/j3u0khplz8c).the same steering coupler parts that were deemed defective for other recalled models from kia/hyundai appear to be the same ones used in the 2013 kia soul (and others that have not been recalled).https://www.carcomplaints.com/kia/soul/2013/steering/clunk_noise_in_steering.shtml

Steering wheel makes a lot of noise when driving took it to a certified mechanic shop they told me it was a defect with kia

The steering wheel coupler has become loose, creating a sound and steering play(or slack) when steering. This could result in breakage of the coupler, resulting is loss of control of the vehicle. Kia has already recalled the 2014-16 soul models in recall number: 17v608000, but did not include the 2013 year model, which has a dangerous defect.

The power steering gear locks up randomly. It makes a clucking sound and car is all over the road. Kia dealership worked on the steering gear with only 8000 miles on it. It appeared that the gland nut backed its way off the shaft where the steering wheel connects to the gear. The car now has 12,000 miles on it and it is happening again. When this fails the steering can detach from the steering gear loosing all ability to steer the car. I noticed that this is not an isolated case and this is happening to all 2013 kia souls on the internet. Before someone gets killed there should be an immediate recall. If the steering had locked up on a lane change it may have been a fatal accident.....updated 12/07/15 ; 4/27/18

In the last couple of days, while making turns either left or right or while parked if you move the steering wheel left or right you feel a definite clunking in the steering.prior to this new development the steering has always been smooth.my vehicle has only approximately 40,000 mile on it.i see there are many others with this same problem.i see a recall for the 2014-16, why not the 13?

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While driving approximately 40-45 mph, there was a clicking noise coming from the steering area. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired; however, an appointment was made with an independent mechanic. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

I have a kia soul 2013 i noticed a clucking noise in the stearing collum when it is stationary postionalso the collum seems to have alot of play in it . I notice if i hit a bump in road it ratals. I have made an appointment with dealer next week. I have been reading all about these issuse from si many people . I cant beleive that kia has not done something abiut this . I drive my. 94 year old mother around in this car . I am going to contact a layer or a news station about this . This is a very dangerous issue that needs to be addressed properly. . i will see what lokey kia saids about this and see where it takes me . I only have about 37000 miles on car bought it in 2015 dec. It had 21000 then .

The steering wheel is super loose and the car will veer right on its own. We took it in for an alignment ($80) and they said they have to go into steering column and diagnose and fix. They said most the parts were cheap, however the job is timely and tedious, therefore the anticipate it costing approximately $500 plus the $80 alignment....so almost $600! all of this right at christmas time, and even worse, only two months after hurricane charlie demolished our home in panama city beach, fl and surrounding areas. The mechanic told us we were lucky the steering hasn't stopped working completely and warned us to not drive it because it would stopped working at some point and we could be in major accident.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While operating the vehicle, a clicking noise was present coming from the steering column when turning in either direction. While pulling into a parking space, the power steering failed and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to lakeland regal kia (1025 bartow rd, lakeland, fl) where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel flexible coupler was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,441.

Hello i have a 2013 kia soul with only 56,000 miles on it. Last year around february my cars steering column started having this awful rattling and knocking sound coming from it.i can't drive over 55mph or it gets really bad and loud. This also causes my blinkers not to work properly on and off. I had surgery around the same time it started and i'm just getting back to being able to drive. Except i'm afraid that the steering is going to break and cause a big wreck and no this isn't a wheel balance issue. Has anyone else had this problem that you know of? i'm going to call the dealer today and get it in to be checked. I can't even get on the interstate because of the fear of it breaking and the extremely loud noises is causes.

Steering wheel makes a clicking/knocking noise when turning to the left or right.

Model car burns oil extremely quickly regardless of miles driven, no leaks found by mechanic, pistons have been replaced three times in the last six months. Steering wheel makes a knocking noise that started within the last three months.

Steering wheel clicks when turned right or left, no matter if parked or driving down the road. Speeds of 65mph or greater causes wheel to vibrate. Researched and found several other complaints for same issue. This needs addressed by kia as this is a safety issue and one that is not supposed to happen.

Steering wheel coupler ,car not able to steer

Kia soul 2013 just bought through dealer march 13 2020, and it makes a clunking noise in the front end whenever it's driven and i have kids in this car so if this is an issue with kias something needs to be done ! makes noise when driving at any speed, turning and very loud

Takata recall, my kia soul 2013 make a clunk noise when wheel is turn right and left and also steering wheel is unstable when driving at 30mph, i've seen a lot of complaints about the same issue but only models 2014 - 2016 where recall by kia motors, can you please look into this so they can add more years from this kia soul vehicle, thanks

Steering makes a clunking noise. Apparently the flex couplet which was recalled on the 2014 through 2016 soul has worn out prematurely. It'sknown problem. Manufacturer should cover the cost.

While driving the steering wheel makes a clicking noise. My mechanic said while driving this part could break off causing a serious situation and may precipitate an accident.this situation is current and has been in effect for a couple months

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the vehicle had four front end alignments since purchasing the vehicle and the steering wheel jerked suddenly. The steering failure occurred while driving over bumps in the road. The manufacturer admitted that there was a part that needed to be replaced in the steering arm, but it could not be replaced until after the vehicle gained mileage. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was currently parked at the contact's home and had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000.

When you turn on the car the steering wheel has this click click to each side and as you're driving down the road and you move the steering wheel a click sound is heard when moving steering wheel to the right and the left. The steering wheel makes this sound while you're sitting in the driveway in the carson park where the year actually driving down the road anytime you turn the wheel just a little right to the left it sounds like and feels like the steering wheel connection is going to break i'm not a car person but it's like when the steering column goes down and it will connect to shea a u joint and you turn the turn it one way or the other and do you join us not connecting properly that's the way i can describe it. I have no documents just a sound. This happens every time you turn the wheel right or left not a lot just a little bit it would be like in the play in a steering wheel but there should be no clicks

Arrythmical clicking/grinding sound from steering column at slower speeds and while stopped when steering wheel turned left or right. Seems to be a common problem with the kia soul yet only 2014 through 2015 models were affected by a recall?

Steering has developed 3 inch play, loose nut inside the steering column from research on the internet.

The steering wheel became loose with much "play" in steering and a clicking noise from the steering lock. This happens both stationary with the car on in park and when driving. I have had alignment and suspension checked and it is not apparently the issue. Apparently the steering shaft becomes loose where it is coupled with the steering gear/rack. This loose steering is very dangerous as when steering around curves the car steering actually pulls on the road so i now go much slower around curves than is posted on speed signs to avoid loosing control of my vehicle. When i go over uneven roads or bumps the car also shifts and pulls as i do not have full control over the steering. When i brake at speeds over about 40mph i notice that there is also this same play in the steering so i make sure i am considerably a far distance behind another vehicle in order to stop slowly. I feel that this is a very dangerous problem with the 2012 kia soul and have noticed upon researching online that the kia optima has a similar problem which was eventually recalled for repair.

Steering wheel play is increasing and clicks on each side of the play.suspension feels as if the car drift/slides whenever driving over divider lane lines or direction arrows placed on the street.

Something in the rack and steering has come loose. Steering wheel clicks when i turn it. Steering is very unstable.

The vehicle present a grinding noise while steering on any direction. While getting it checkedat the localkia dealership they diagnosed the issue on the steeringwhich was apparently part of a recall from kia, a few days later the issue on the steering was present again and the local kia dealership is now charging me around 1,900 dollars for the repair even though it all started trough a manufacturer recall..

2013 kia soul is making a clicking noise when i turn my steering wheel. It makes one click noise once i start turn the wheel. When i stop moving it and try to move it again it clicks. Vehicle mileage: 63,667

Steering coupling broken......makes clunking sound while turning or driving straight.... 2014 thru 2016 models made between july 2013 and september 2015 have been recalled for same problem.....my car was manufactured 6 months to early to have it recalled......something smells fishy.....with all of the complaints i am seeing this problem started earlier than someone wants to admit......my car was purchased at boniface hiers in melbourne, fl and they won't fix it under warranty....the car has 25,000 miles on it.......pathetic

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle erroneously veered left and right and caused the contact to crash into a guide rail. The contact sustained neck, back, and wrist injuries, a broken finger, and minor bruising. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000. The vin was not available.

Steering wheel makes a clicking sound when i turn the wheel

Sudden deceleration quickly followed by loss of all electrical power including steering, brakes, complete engine shut-off and dash instrumentation. Dealer found "no problem" and did not repair or replace ignition switch or anything else.

In the front range of colorado we frequently get several inches of wet, heavy snow in the fall, winter and spring. We have to park the car outside a garage at home and at work. We always completely clear snow from all glass surfaces and check the operation of the wipers before driving the car. We bought an expensive telescoping combination scraper, brush and squeegee designed for cmvs to clear as much snow as we can reach and see from the white painted roof of the car before driving it. After the interior of the car warms up it appears to loosen the bond between the roof of the car and any residual or newly accumulated snow. Numerous times when under normal braking snow has slid forward off the roof on to the windshield obscuring all forward visibility and instantly creating a severe collision safety hazard.furthermore, when the windshield wipers are activated to clear the snow the wiper motors are too weak to move the snow requiring the driver to blindly brake to a stop unable to see well enough even to steer the car out of the lane of traffic to a safe place to stop. This happened a few days ago at a traffic light at a busy intersection in slick snowy road conditions during evening rush hour. After coming to a stop without hitting the car in front of her my five foot, two inch tall 68 year old wife had to get out of the car in dangerous conditions and manually remove(for the second time) snow from the windshield while being subjected to honking horns and one-fingered salutes from ill-mannered motorists.until kia chooses or is required to correct this serious safety issue an otherwise great little car is unsafe to drive in snowy conditions.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v822000 (structure) however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the driver's side a-pillar trim cover detached unexpectedly. The failure was contributed to the force of the wind. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the new replacement part. The technician informed the contact that the defect was a common issue. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 780.updated 09/05/13*lj

Vehicle was traveling north at approximately 50 mph. Driver veered right accidently and went off asphalt surface into ditch. Vehicle rolled end over end twice and landed upright facing south on third rollover. Driver was wearing seat belts. Vehicle was damaged on both sides of front, top was crushed in, right front wheel bent into wheel well, windshield was shattered and caved in. There was damage to both sides of the vehicle and the hood. Driver was injured and transported by ambulance to hospital. The major complaint was that the air bags did not deploy to protect driver. Vehicle engineers from kia motors national consumer affairs inspected the vehicle and stated that air bags were not deployed in a rollover because car was not equipped that way. He reported that the air bags in front would have deployed in a front impact, the side curtain air bags would have deployed in a side impact. The car was considered a total loss and not repairable.

Airbag exploded on impact with gaping holes with heavy smoke coming out with hot heat causing redness to my chest and redness to my hands and a blow to my wrist that caused fracture to my left wrist.

Spontaneous paint loss down to the bare metal. Yesterday i noticed a large fist-sized paint loss on top of my car above the drivers side. There is no damage to the area just the paint loss out of nowhere. I also noticed a couple of tiny paint losses somewhat near the large loss, which are about 1/2 the size of a peppercorn. I'm confident they will get larger.

As my wife was entering eastbound us expressway 83 (interstate 2) just west of minnesota road (approximate time 5:15 pm) the hood flew open and damaged the windshield and hood.the car was safely pulled over but the hood was so damaged that it had to be removed in order to drive the car home.the car had only been driven approximately 1.5 miles from the house on the frontage road before getting onto the expressway when the incident occurred.speed was accelerating to highway speeds of 60 mph but not yet at 60 mph.the vehicle was just getting on the overpass after entering the expressway and was traveling in a straight path on the entry lane barely merging into traffic before needing to pull over on the bentsen palm road overpass..the hood had not been opened for at least 2 weeks when i last filled the windshield washer reservoir.it has been driven on the expressway at highway speeds during the last two weeks on a daily basis.it appears that the hood latch is broken.the latch is too far to the right and doesn't move back into a position to allow the hood to close.

Steering wheel play is increasing and clicks on each side of the play.suspension feels as if the car drift/slides whenever driving over divider lane lines or direction arrows placed on the street.

Rack and pinion sound

The vehicle makes the noise stationary and in motion is loud feels like the steering wheel is coming apart i seen videos of the problem on youtube there are many and how to fix it kia has not recall the year 2013 model plz what can we do.

Driver's seat collapsed in the center. The car likes to fishtail on bumpy roads causing some loss of control. The car vibrates at 60 plus mph

Vehicle skitters and fishtails when going over 40 mph on bumpy roads, especially curves.the esc seems to correct the skittering immediately, but it is quite scary.so far, this has happened only on dry pavement.i don't know what would happen on wet or icy pavement.

Kia soul 2013 just bought through dealer march 13 2020, and it makes a clunking noise in the front end whenever it's driven and i have kids in this car so if this is an issue with kias something needs to be done ! makes noise when driving at any speed, turning and very loud

I was driving on a highway when, without any provacation, the two tires on the drivers side blew out the sidewall. Hole was the size of a 50 cent piece. This happened again on march 26, 2014. We were driving on a highway and the rear tire on the driver's side blew out the sidewall again. Mileage was 36,646.

Submission from re nhtsa safety complaint on kia soul 2013 *tgwthe consumer stated while driving, the right front passenger tire went flat. The wheel and rim were bent. The dealer stated, the consumer must have hit something in the road. However, the consumer disputed that notion, stating there was a recall on cadenza wheels, as they were prone to cracking, if a pothole was hit.

When it is extremely hot outside (i.e. 95 degrees) and i turn on the a/c and come to a stop, the car often times will lunge forward, about a foot, even if my foot is firmly on the break.

The passenger inside door handle is pealing and sharp the coating that's on the handle is coming off. The windshield wipers always making a horrible sound even when they are replaced

Car has been stalling randomly when coming to a stop, then difficult to re-accelerate. This occurs after driving for a while, not right after startup. First occurrence was in december 2020, then several times after that, most recently february 24 2021.car was brought to both personal mechanic several times then to dealership. Both were unable to recreate problem described. Several possible solutions were tried, new spark plugs, resetting computer codes, etc. Car handled well briefly, then problem resurfaced.

I was driving my car when the inside filled with smoke, i stopped the car in the middle of a busy street and got out and within 20 seconds all the glass blew and my car was completely engulfed in flames. The car was a total loss and kia is not cooperating, they don't even act like they care that their customer almost died and lost everything.

I went to have a oil change, they told me my motor was going out.they would not do nothing. They said take it to a kia dealer. I then call a kia serves dealer. So i am looking for a dealer in the area code 49022, for a phone number.

I received a safety recall, dated april 12, 2019. Per recall, 19v120, to upgrade the catalytic converter at no cost to me. I called customer assistance center at 800.333.4542 and spoke with nicole who assured me there would be no cost to me. On may 13th, i visited a kia dealership on 4220 fredericksburg rd., san antonio, tx., and made appointment for may 16th and was told that a diagnostic was necessary and could generate a charge. Later that day i called to cancel the appointment in case of a charge and spoke to daniel, a cashier. To confirm cancellation, i called again on may 15th and spoke with edward in services and was told the appointment had not been cancelled. I asked him to cancel and he advised me to reschedule soon due to the recall. I told edward my concerns about paying for a diagnostic, and he said that if diagnostic was related to the recall, there would be no charge, but there could be a charge if the diagnostic found other issues not related to the recall. He said he would cancel appointment and i told him i would call later to reschedule. However, i will not have the money any time soon to pay in case there is a charge for the diagnostic. The mileage in my vehicle is 53,000, so i do not know how long i should continue driving my vehicle without resolving this recall issue.

I took my kia soul in for a recall back on march 9th. Once the dealership did the update to the computer per recall instructions from kia i left with my car. Within 5 min my car went into limp mode not allowing me to go above 59 or over 2000 rpm. I have dealt with kia directly and they are advising still after 6 weeks there is no estimated fix date and no help to me while i have to wait for my vehicle to be fixed from the original recall.

1) wiring harness is malfunctioning causing bulbs to prematurely blow. Iā€™m constantly having to replace turn signal bulbs, headlight bulbs, taillight bulbs and break light bulbs. 2) iā€™ve read many accounts online that this is a common occurrence in the 2013 kia soul. 3) this put drivers behind me at risk when my tail lights/break lights fail. Since they are behind me, i have no idea that they have failed because thereā€™s no warning lights that alert me to the issue.4) i have left multiple messages at multiple locations and phone numbers for kia and their service departments, for over a month and nobody has returned my phone calls.

The acceleration drops out at any given point in time. It idles rough. The check engine light goes on and off regardless of issues occurring.pedal to the floor i can't get more than 1400 rpms and about 7 mph.the dealership has had my car several times unable to find an issue and the engine has been replaced since it blew up a year and a half or so ago.everything i've read seems like the catalytic convertor is failing

The car caught fire without cause and exploded on the side of the road.we were driving down the highway when a car coming the other direction flagged us down because flames were shooting out from under the car.by the time i was able to pull the car over flames were entering in the cabin and it was filled with black smoke.the brakes and electrical had failed so it was impossible to stop the car.it exploded 2 minutes after we were able to vacate the vehicle.

My bearing strut was replaced at 40, 000 miles and it seen they are back again at 70,000. I have an appointment with hollywood kia in hollywood, fl on 4-1-17. Please let me know if any previous complanits.

Rubbing of knock sound and smoke from exhaust that smells bad

Stalled while on the interstate. Will not start back up since.

Faulty flexible coupling. Notice while driving, clicking sound in steering wheel while driving. Driving on a regular city street. It cost $318 to replace. This is a recall for other models so it should be a recall for all.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal as the vehicle decreased in speed. The contact veered to the exit ramp in order to exit the highway. The contact then entered a gas station and waited for a couple of minutes before attempting to depress the accelerator pedal which failed to accelerate the vehicle past 50 mph. The vehicle then stalled as all warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that an odor appeared from the exhausted pipe. The vehicle was towed to the contact residents, then towed from her resident to the dealer evergreen kia 9205 s western ave, chicago, il 60643 (773) 779-4281 where it was diagnosed that the oil consumption damaged the piston rods and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) as a possible solution to the failure however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that no recalls was under the vin. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck more than once and would not release while the vehicle was in motion. The contact had to maneuver the pedal aggressively to get the accelerator pedal to release. The dealer was notified, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

I went to my car on a cold morning in january and found a crack across the windshield at the level of the rearview mirror.i do not recall hearing a rock chip prior the crack forming. I consider this crack a safety issue with the windshield cracking possibly because of rearview mirror loading or unusually crack prone windshield glass.note: the affected parts pull-down in this form is not working. I would have selected the windshield and the rearview mirror.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph during snow weather conditions, the windshield wipers failed to operate. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

Windshield wipers too slow on fastest speed.old car had faster wipers. Seat belts hard to click and unclick, very awkward access to seatbelt buckle.brakes: user force too hard, very fatiguing.when engine starts initial idle speed control not smooth goes up and down yet computer does not log an error. This is more than 50 rpm.american car would probably log error if car did that.causes car to lurch unexpectedly when pulling out of driveway.

Opened drivers door, got in and shut the door and the rear hatch window blew out. Vehicle is now at dealership and they called to say car is not to be touched because products investigations is going to look at the car before another window can be installed. There are other complaints that are the same as mine and the window broke in shards and splinters uncommon to a normal car window.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. The contact stated that theyclosed the door and the window on the hatch shattered outwards.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and was being repaired. The failure and current mileages were 1,000.

The passenger inside door handle is pealing and sharp the coating that's on the handle is coming off. The windshield wipers always making a horrible sound even when they are replaced

As i was driving across, with a green light, a six lane (plus additional turn lanes) city street at perhaps 25 mph, a driver running her red light struck my vehicle broad side on the passenger side.i do not know her speed but can say that the passenger side airbag and both front airbags deployed, the speed limit on the road she was traveling is 40 mph.the reason for this report is that the impact caused the rear view mirror to snap off and become an airborne menace.the mirror gave me a large lump just above my right eye and caused a contusion on my right cheek that after bleeding profusely needed four stitches to close.i was lucky.the jagged edge that cut my cheek was only a couple inches from my eye and potential blindness.the mirror's (model ztvhl3) physical connection failed at the juncture of the ball joint against the windshield and the metal conduit at the rear of the mirror. The metal was unable to withstand the force of the side impact and torqued out of shape. The wiring alone was unable to hold the mirror in place, and the mirror went airborne.

Open the door to go to work closed the door and the back window shatted this happened first thing in the morning car was parked all night

I was hit by a small rock going around 40mph which resulted in a chip/crack.in the 3 weeks since then it has happened 2 more times.speeds were not excessive and the rocks were small.i have never had this happen in 20 years of owning cars until this new car.

I have washer fluid for low temps. The washer lines keep freezing making it impossible to see out of windshield. This is very hazardous, especially in northeastern ohio weather. I called kia and was told by kia that they have been getting calls nonstop about it and there is nothing they can do about it. Apparently the washer lines are not near engine block so there is no warmth to prevent them from freezing in cold temps. This is very dangerous and there should be a recall on this car model asap.

The contact owns a 2013 kia soul. While getting into the vehicle and shutting the driver door, the rear glass fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear glass needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 23,195.

I have owned 2 kia souls (a 2011 and now a 2013 each bought new) and have been very happy until recently, june this year 2016, when checking the low air pressure in rear tires.the tire store informed me that both tires were "extremely old,""unsafe" "2007 tires!" because of the possible danger to me or others, while continuing to drive on these tires which were sold to me on my 2013 by the dealership, i was advised to replace both with new tires by the tire store, which i did immediately. Given my regular tune ups at the dealer where they noted they "rotated tires" each time, i was never informed of the age of the tires.i am fortunate that no accidents occurred.i am concerned about possible unadvisable and possible fraudulent practices on the part of ed voyles kia on cobb pkwy in smyrna ga. I have written to the corporate headquarters to investigate and come to some resolution. I appreciate the product, hope to hear this matter is resolved to my satisfaction so that i can continue to drive and recommend kia with great confidence in the future. (the low air pressure was noted while driving the car to work on a regular basis, 45 miles each way in heavy highway traffic)

Car has 24k miles on it. During a trip the car began to wobble driving on the interstate. I noticed the tire had a bulge on it. I replaced it. The car still wobbled. I took it to a kia dealership and they said another of the tires had gone bad, but it should get me home. I had a blowout on that tire on the way home also driving on the interstate. The tires are oem nexen cp662's. The remaining 2 tires are prematurely worn and have been rotated with each oil change.
