Bad wire in steering wheel, which makes horn malfunction frequently(if i repeatedly turn wheel, horn will work). This started three years ago. Car has been well maintained, and i see no recall for this issue. Brake lights quits working , cruse doesn't work , radio is affected

Intermittent horn. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In doing research, i have noticed a lot of complaints for the same thing. Why has this not been recalled? this is clearly a safety issue! doesn't matter if the car is sitting, driving, turning, anything. The horn only seems to work when it feels like it. Very dangerous!

The horn only works when it wants to, i can not find a reason for this.does not mater if car is running or not, weither it is turning or not.it is very dangerous, since there have been times that i wish it would have worked in some serious driving situations and it did not.

107000 miles on the car. Started car in the morning and it made a whining noise. Didn't think much of it because it was colder than it had been. After warming up a few minutes drove down my road about a mile and the battery light came on. Turned around at went back home. Popped the hood and smelled strong burning smell. Problem was found to be the alernator. When i pulled it to replace it noticed that the windings inside the alternator were burt and chared/melted.

Theres something really wrong with my engine and other mechanical issue. I've been to kia dealership and they wont fix it because theres no recalls that have been announced.the sensor lights keepturning on and once i check it it says nothing is wrong, but the light is still on and it will turn off whenever it feels like it, also the smell of the engine smells like its burning and the car get really hot as if the heater was on.

Ocassionaly the horn will not work.

I was unaware that my car was under a recall. I am active duty air force and did not receive an email stating my car needed to be fixed. I found out through my pcs website.

Brake light will not illuminate when depressed. Break light switch not functioning properly.esc/stability control light stays on continuous while car is in motion or stopped. Tail lights burn out every 6-12 month, as well as head lamps burning out often.

A couple years ago, the driver side door had issues opening after being unlocked.this was frustrating, but not a safety issue.in the past several months, the door has opened while driving a couple times.this same issue was recalled in the kia sorento at the end of 2017 for the same reported issue and the same part replacement.kia has told me that there is nothing they can do to fix the issue as my car was not included in the sorento recall, even though it is the same exact issue. This was not a major issue until the door started openeing while driving.this is something that needs to be recalled by kia and fixed in all affected vehicles.

1. The electronic stability control warning light comes on and goes off intermittently and unpredictably. 2. I replaced the map light. It just stopped working and i replaced it with a new one i ordered myself. A local garage did the work, not a dealer.

Driving the vehicle down the road in good weather conditions when the brakes initiated for no reason and no gas seemed to be going to the throttle. The esc light came on.i attempted to turn the traction control light off but there was still no change.the vehicle slowed down to about 5 miles an hour and stalled out a couple of times because lack of gas going to the vehicle.fortunately i was in a congested area and was only traveling about 20 mph when this happened.could have been extremely dangerous hadi been on a highway.

File a vehuilce safety complaint 07/09/2014; confirmation #: 10609442 and have not received any feedback, response or status to my issue, which i found out many kia soul drivers are having, but no recall has been issued to resolve teh problem.the ecs on various occasion comes on while driving or when at a stop light.pushing the ecs on/off switch does nothing, light stays on.turhn engine off then on, light still stays on.contacted dealer they said being it it when it happens, to be checked out, but the light does not cooperate.the ecs light problem started when a recall for the brake switch was replaced.the problem started in 2014 and occurs a few times each year to the current date offeb 18 2016.

Esc has engaged at 50 mph on dry roads rapidly slow the car down to 15 mph.this is the third occurrence in a month.

Without warning and while driving on dry pavement even at steady speed esc warning light flashes and vehicle suddenly looses power drastically (barely runs) .esc acting like car is on ice when it is not . Drove 1 mile on dry pavement with car barely running.problem is intermittent and has occurred on 3 occasions within 300 miles of driving. Had car to dealer for esc malfunction on 3-4 occasions for this problem and problem still occurring. Dealer acknowledged problem on visits 1-2. Brake switch & abs module replaced but did not solve problem . Last visit after another esc breakdown they said they could find nothing wrong , even though it malfunctioned only 2 days before car brought in. Dealer has had car in shop for over 1 month total time. They apparently are unable to fix it. I am driving an unsafe car with only a little over 9000 miles on it that is still under warranty. Yet they have offered no resolution. I don't need my car to go into "limp mode" while passing a car on a 2 lane road!. Car runs normal however if esc switch is turned off.

The esc on two separate occasions came on while driving on dry road between 30 and 55 mph. Tried turning pushing the on/off ecs switch, but light would not go off.with vehicle stopped, shifting transmission while pushing on brake pedal, esc light would not go off. Turned off engine, waited a few minutes then restarted, light came back on.light went off after driving a few feet and stopping at traffic light. I do not know what damage or problems this may cause to the operational capabilities of the vehicle. If it happens one more time, as i suspect it will, i will contact the dealer.

Electronic stability control comes on when traveling on dry roads going in straight line and stays on for indeterminate periods (sometimes days at a time) unrelated to driving conditions.will not turn off even when vehicle is stopped and key is taken out of ignition - when you put the key back into ignition and turn the traction control is still engaged.when the traction control is engaged the gas mileage is negatively impacted.dealer has no fix for problem.

When driving at any speed & need to suddenly stop, the vehicle brakes lock up & do not stop the vehicle in time. Basically, the tires lock up & the car continues to skid & screech. This is especially aggravated when the vehicle drives over a pothole or other defect in the roadway while braking or in constant stop-&-go traffic. The vehicle has narrowly missed crashing into other vehicles or structures numerous times. I noticed the problems within a couple of weeks of purchasing the new 2011 car. It feels very dangerous & scary & i'm very uneasy about driving in certain situations because i'm not sure if the car will respond properly in an emergency.

Speed control - the speed control did not disengage on numerous occaisions, when the brake was gently applied or tapped, speed control did not disengage and the speed actually increased. The vehicleis currently with the dealer. We were able to demonstrate replicate the problem with the service technician driving the vehicle.horn - does not activate seems to occur when vehicle warmed up. Was able to demonstrate to dealerstability control light activates and does not turn off intermittently

When driving the vehicle, the engine started making a noise , i put it in neutral as i was pulling off the hiway andthe motor quit running. Had to have it towed back to my house.i found out the next day that the motor had locked up. The motor had oil in it and the water was not low. The mechanic said the oil pump was probley bad. I called kia and they said they had no recalls on the vehicle.so now the car is sitting in my driveway with a blown motor and i am still making payments on the car for another 18 months.

On friday, september 27, 2019, i was driving from katy, tx to new orleans, la traveling with my 2-year-old son on i-10.approximately 51 miles outside of lafayette, 2011 kia soul loses engine power while driving highway speed in the passing lane.rpm and mph goes to 0 and all lights appear on dashboard.unable to accelerate in car.thankfully no accident.coasts onto should and turns car off.restarts car and it starts fine.car continues with this issue progressively getting worse and happening more often with at one point state troopers were called out.after seeing a total of 3 dealerships, one of which i went to for a second time, and one firestone (mike at firestone actually saw smoke coming from under the hood) it's determined to be both catalytic converters on friday, october 5, 2019...no word on what else is at issue as it's a lets see if the problem is fixed game with kia...it's now wednesday, october 9 and after replacing one catalytic converter on monday, october 7...i am told that the second is bad two days later.please help!

My engine light has been going off and one no problem driving the problem is when i put gas in car the car want start until i give it gas a little. I don't have problem to crank car. And after i crank my car after i pump the gas to start it. There is no problem only when i get gas. It goes off maybe after a long while but then come back on when gas get to low and then problem starts all over again. I have ask kia dealer about recalls all the time they say all recalls on vehicle are done. I have read several times about fuel problem or pipe that cause fires on vechicle. I read as recent as jan 18 there was recall in another country on this .the light went off jan 15 but came back on jan18

Replaced both ball joints.heat shield is vibrating while accelerating. Also have oil pan leak, causing a puddle in the driveway.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. While the vehicle was stationary, the rpms increased rapidly without any pressure being applied to the accelerator pedal. Also, when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle slowed down. When the vehicle was geared into the park position, the rpms increased to over 2,000 rpms. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it to reset the engine. The vehicle was taken to mentor kia in mentor, ohio, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the stop light switch was replaced. The contact stated that on 9/16/2020 while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to and independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000. *ln

Head-gaskets and/or thermostats failing under normal driving conditions and low miles. I am on 2nd head-gasket and 4th thermostat and only at 109000 mi. Twice this has happened while driving on freeway and twice while around town. Fluid levels were good and other maintenance done regularly.i have talked with multiple kia dealership service departments and they start by saying that is not normal then after looking over the car saying its a normal thing for souls. These failures have caused the engine to overheat each time once the thermostat sticks closed. No engine warning lights and temp gauge only showed the overheat 2 out of four times. They seem to be failing fairly regularly around 20000 mi.

The clutch has gone out twice . The first time was at 54029 and date of 1/17/17. Less than six months later i took it back to the dealership and told them that it was slipping on takeoff. They said that everything was fine. This time it 72735 and date of 12/28/18 . The bill for the first time was 1445.79 . It is rediculous that it goes out so soon. I have read on line that kia uses a valve on the slave cylinder that causes slipping.

Traffic came to an abrupt stop and iv rear ended ov1 which pushed ov1 into ov2 which was pushed into ov3.vehicle in question (kia soul) was the iv. The iv suffered extreme front-end damage and was totaled. The air bags did not deploy. The officer at the scene and the towing company driver were adamant that the force exterted by the iv and the damage incurred should have deployed the air bags. Driver of the iv suffered injuries from being slammed into the steering wheel (chest) and dash board (knees).

The car won't start after putting gas in several times . After 3 tries and around 10-14 minutes it will start. There are several forums online regarding this haooenedijf to kia souls .

When turning car on it the engine makes a knocking sound. Car is losing acceleration on roads especially expressway. Also, the engine pings or knocks when turning the car off. I have even heard the engine knock while in motion. The front windshield molding garnish lh located on the driver side flew off while driving on the expressway and hit another car! losing this molding garnish causes air to leak into the windshield.

The whole front of the car was on fire and the wind shield exploded. Everything melted down and car is totaled. This incident was caused by an interior malfunction with the car. Would like kia to replace this car with a new car because this was a new car that i purchased through kia.

I bought my car from mazda in hilo, hawaii. After three months the a/c when it is turned on, would work for 5 minutes or so, then it will blow warm air. The mazda dealership in hilo, hawaii tried to repair the a/c problem once, the problem persisted, then mazda sent me to the kia dealership which tried to fix the a/c problem twice, with no success. I since moved to oahu in april 9th, 2014. The a/c problem is still on going. My niece bought kia soul 2011 here on oahu and her car has the same a/c problem, i have. Is there other kia soul 2011 owners with the same a/c problem?

Air conditioneri actually found this out by accident. I bought a portable explosive gas detector from menards (model number: 240pgd) mainly for my sister who lives in a trailer park and has become severely ill from a sewer gas smell in the court. Just before i left for my sister's place, i thought i would try out this gas detector in the cabin of my car near the a/c vent. I looked at the specs for this explosive gas detector and the temperatures were within testing range. The explosive gas detector showed high concentrations of explosive gas by beeping and showing a red led. I tested several times at different temps with the a/c on and received red led lights and warning beeps. While it did not specify which explosive gas, this detector detects acetylene, butane, methane (natural gas) and propane. I did look up air conditionerrefrigerant and found that cars in the us may use a butane/propane mixture. My wife and i have been getting headaches with increasing intensity and wonder if this is why. I'm glad that we are not smokers or we would have blown up or been blow torched by the a/c. The detector did not detect explosive gas when i took it back into my house as a reference.

My problem is that the brake lights do not go out when the car is off, and they are constantly on while driving.

The dim headlights on my kia soul were blowing every 3 months. I bought bulbs from the auto parts store from the cheap to super expensive bulbs. Nothing helped. I called kia and they told me that i needed there bulbs. So, i bought those bulbs too. My headlights were still blowing. I checked the socket and it was brown like it had been overheated. I replaced those sockets and put another set of kia bulbs in the car. That fixed the problem for about 6 months and they are back to going out on me. They both went out at the same time which is very very dangerous!!!!

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. While driving 72 mph, the brake lights would not illuminate, the brakes seized, the front driver and passenger wheels smoked, the brake shifter interlock feature would not take vehicle out of park, and the cruise control would not deactivate even when the brake pedal was depressed. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Fog lights quit working just after the warranty ran out. The problem is in the light, turn signal knob.they will come on and off at times when turning the turn signal on to make a right turn.i have come to the point that i have just turned the fog lights off.

In the 9 years since purchase i've replaced my headlights 13 times. They generally burn out within a month of each other so now i just replace both when one goes out. I have to keep spares in the glove box because on one occasion they both went out on the same day.

2011 kia soul brake lights do not illuminate when engaged by pedal. Testing lights shows that all other lights are in working order. Vehicle vin was not included in the stop lamp switch recall issued by kia in 2013; however, this appears to be the same problem and in need of the stop lamp switch replacement.

Brake lights quits working , cruse doesn't work , radio is affected

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that while getting an oil change, she was informed that the rear brake lights were inoperable. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle had not been officially diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that there was a recall for a similar failure however, the vin was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at any speed, the brake lights failed to illuminate. In addition, the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact also stated that the ecm warning light illuminated and the head lights failed to illuminate. The failure occurred after the vehicle was serviced for a stop lamp switch and the under body corrosion recall. The failures were not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 160,000.

Kis consuming oil, the oil indicator doesn't turn on until after the oil stick shows no oil in the engine and then it only blinks occasionally.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed. The fuel gauge was slow to register the correct fuel level. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer replaced the fuel sender assembly pump however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. While the contact was exiting the vehicle in the driveway, there was an explosion and the vehicle caught on fire without warning. There were no injuries. The contact used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The exact origin of the fire was unknown. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 12,000.

The clutch and fly wheel wore out on the car at 22k miles.this is extremely early for a clutch to fail.the clutch failed on a busy highway (i-81) and i was forced to pull over in an unsafe location.i have driven manual transmissions for many years and have never had a clutch fail at such a low mileage.

My 2011 kia soul i bought off of a friend. It drove great only had 80000 miles. However when i got it 3rd gear would sometimes be hard to get in gear and grind.i just reached 100000 miles and i got up for work today and it wont go into gear in first or reverse.i did some research and seems its a common problem for these cars.im hoping its not my transmission but im going to shop in an hour. A recall needs to be addressed for this vehicle. Even the miles on my car a transmission should not be needed. This started on a interstate shifting coming off of the ramp 5th gear i couldnt get it in i had to force it.

I took my kia soul in for a oil change and transmission oil change. The mechanic let me know that the axle shaft on the right side of vehicle was leaking and needs to be replaced. He was unable to locate thr part because my vehicle is a new model and that part in not in circulation yet. I called the dealer and he wanted to charge me 650.00 to install the new axel. This is ridiculous why this part is already wore out and the kia dealer reported that they will not cover the parts and labor because my vehicle is over the 60,00 mile warranty. I just want to know if other vehicles that year have the same problem.

My soul is a five speed, i was stopped at a stop light, in first gear ready to start accelerating, when i realized, my car was reversing instead of going forward. I could not get it out of reverse, no matter what gear i shifted to. Other family drove my car as well, and had the same issue. Every gear is reverse, it is not always happening, but it happens every once in awhile. Had to have it towed to where i bought it, because i could not get into first to move it.

I purchased kia soul plus with automatic transmission 2 months ago from original owner with 53,000 miles. Vehicle "lagged" momentarily while transmission upshifted. I assumed characteristic of car. Approx. 2 months after purchasing car while driving on freeway with my fianc'@ approx. 65mph the transmission suddenly & drastically downshifted into (i believe) 2nd or 3rd gear, with no provocation on my part. If my fianc and i were not wearing seat belts, the sudden change of speed, our heads would have certainly hit the front windshield. My fianc' is scheduled for spinal cord surgery sometime this month (august). Her neuro-surgeon informed us that another similar situation could possibly cause her to be quadriplegic, or even death. I immediately exited freeway, however, car would not shift past 2nd (or 3rd) gear, limiting car to 30 to 35mph driving home on side streets. Car was parked overnight, and next day drove normal again, for one week. On july 31, 2017 while taking car to citrus kia in ontario, ca, for evaluation of transmission, vehicle did same thing again. Sudden downshift drastically slowing down car to 35mph. Again, would not shift past 2nd (or 3rd) gear. I was only occupant. Aware of kia's tsb #033 outlining tcm's upgrade on transmissions built prior to aug. 2010, (mine built june 2010) the service writer at citrus kia stated upgrade was done in oct. 2010.i am anxiously awaiting their findings. Hopefully today. (8/1/2017)kia's powertrain warranty is 100,000 miles or 120 months to original buyer, subsequent buyers is 60,000 miles or 60 months. Soul is past 60 months warranty limit having 72 months of service. However, under mileage limits at 56,000 miles. The vehicles transmission problem is most definitely a safety issue which needs to be addressed.thanks for your time and consideration!

On numerous occasions (approx 10 during last 2.5 ) after my 2011 kia soul passed 1-yr mark, rpms will suddenly increase w/no pressure on accelerator.usually occurs during repeated light intermittent braking/light acceleration during slow & go rush hr traffic, speed range approx 8-15mph. While just creeping for a couple miles at 8-10mph, rpms suddenly increase & stick at almost 2000rpm - much like a "stuck throttle" in the old days when a tap on accelerator would release it.tap on soul accelerator does not "kick down" the rpms, remain stuck at higher rpms.this pulls car forward with no accelerator applied & brake firmly depressed.can only be remedied by turning car off. Ok when start up again.reported 2-3 times to dealership service, they find nothing. Very unnerving, feels like toyota uncontrolled acceleration problem that was blamed on floor mats.kia floor mat not out of position when this occurs.i now dread/try to avoid slow&go rush hr driving for fear the problem will recur.

A bad bearing, caused air pressure in left tire to inflate to a dangerous psi, that could blow tire, causing an accident at high speed and death. The vehicle was being used to drive 525 miles, from dallas to kansas city, mo.driving conditions were dry, with 85 deg outside temp.after driving 200 miles, the left tire heated up to a dangerous 45psi, causing the tire indicator light came on.we stopped to check tire and air pressure, found dangerous psi and released air to safe 32psi.after 150 miles, the left tire again re-inflated to dangerous44psi again. We immediately pulled into walmart, replaced two front tires, thinking it was a worn left tire, but tire was graded at a #4, half wear.both new tires were at proper inflation.after 175 miles, light came on again, driving on turnpike, at 65mph. Air psi was 46psi on the left tire, again.we removed 14 pds of air and drove 50 miles home.after taking it to a certified kia service garage, they said it was the bearing and replaced the left bearing, at no charge, saying it was under warranty.the vehicle was not in an accident nor was the bearing damaged in any service repair process, indicating only reason for failure of bearing as poor manufacturing and/or installation.bearing is either made with inferior material or not properly lubed/packed.

The line holding my automatic transaxle fluid is leaking at such a rapid rate that my car is not driveable.the check engine light did not come on in my car until i was unable to safely operate my vehicle and switch gears on a highway.the part is severely low nationwide, potentially on back order.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle began to loose power. The vehicle resumed normal operation once the cruise control function was disengaged. The failure recurred with the illumination of the check engine light. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the transmission fluid needed to be drained and replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Violent shutter vibration, felt like blown passenger side tire after 30 miles(drove off lot) pulled over to inspect tires everything looked okand drove off with no shutter or vibration vehicle has done it 4 times now at 1,000 miles, has done it at 40 mph-70 mph, at higher speeds vehicle is difficult to control.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that after impacting the rear end of another vehicle, the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt did not retract. A police report was filed and the driver sustained bruises and contusions. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 15,500.

From the driver's seat, my shoulder harness comes from left shoulder to right hip, where it is latched. The shoulder harness does not stay in a cross-body position and rides up to under my right armpit. I do not have a barrel belly that would force this up. The strap then is high enough to cross over my neck. I will be taking the car to the dealer to see if there is any "fix" for this, because i don't want to be beheaded by an improperly positioned strap. I have moved the adjuster on the door post and changed my seat postion. Neither action made a difference. With the seat more forward, the steering wheel is pretty close. How far away should i be?anyway, i'm just wondering if others have had a problem with the shoulder harness riding up and what can be done about it.l

I was thrown against the drivers door(yes seat belt was properly on) and suffered a tbi as well as extreme bruising along the entire left side of my body why didn't the side curtain airbags deploy?. I was rear-ended and the right rear tire was where the passenger seat used to be.. Also the drivers seat broke in the prone position on impact as i was spinning across two opposing lanes of traffic.

The driver side seat belt constantly reverse locks. The vehicle was stationary and the seat belt often reserve locks without a jerk or sudden stop incident. It usually is discovered when trying to put a seatbelt on.

My soul was involved in a side imoact roll over crash im which the passenger seat belt unlatched and theee was no air bag deployment o was traveling at approximately60 mph and the truck that struck the drivers side was traveling at approximately 30 mph...updated 08-06-15

Air bags did not deploy during collision.seat belt tensioner front passenger side did not engage.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. While driving approximately 45 mph, the seat belt unlatched and struck the contact in the face. The air bag light illuminated. The contact called a local dealer and was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact sustained a minor cut that did not require medical attention. The failure mileage was 86,285.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated both rear seats failed to latch properly in a secure upright position. The latch would function correctly when intense force was applied by using an object. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

The vehicle was previously remedied under nhtsa campaign number: 13v114000 (exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic); however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Brake light will not illuminate when depressed. Break light switch not functioning properly.esc/stability control light stays on continuous while car is in motion or stopped. Tail lights burn out every 6-12 month, as well as head lamps burning out often.

Driving about 45 mph on straight road when vehicle suddenly pulled out in front of me. Had to brake very hard. Brakes worked but made a horrible grinding-like vibration under the vehicle. The only analogy that comes close to describing it is it sounded as if there were hard rocks/gravel on top of the brake pads.has happened every time since when engaging brakes for an emergency-like stop.

Second incident of brake (dealer says emergency brake) causing vehicle vibration. This exiting parking lot. On hard surface at highway speeds experience vibration which ramps up in frequency then ramps down. Have replaced emergency brake shoe. Dealer says brake pad was delaminating and piece of shoe was probably causing vibration by involving other parts during wheel revolution. Notice parking brake lever seems to exceed top range and slip slightly to left. After first repair noticed loud knocking/rattle from right rear quadrant, verified by passenger. Discovered application of normal brake while moving at slow speed stopped most of rattle/knocking; this 2 days ago, then today's incident began again.

The contact's mother owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal and parking brake simultaneously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who unplugged the cruise control unit. The contact was unaware of the failure diagnosis or what needed to be repaired. The contact notified bert ogden harlingen kia (8321 w expy 83, harlingen, tx 78552) and was informed that there was no recall associated with the vin. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contacted stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph and going over a pot hole, the brakes failed to respond and there was an abnormal noise coming from the brakes. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Pulled into parking space, car accelerated and brakes went to floor went over the parking curb on to walkway, the corner of the store stopped me no damage to the wall, damage to the my car. Kia soul, 2011

My daughter was traveling on a country road at 50 miles per hour. Another vehicle crossed into her lane, hit her head-on and she died on the scene. When the police department arrived to investigate, they noticed that the steering wheel of her kia soul detached from the column and they located the steering wheel (airbag deployed) in the floorboard behind the driver's seat.

Steering wheel making clunking noise ("clack"), as if getting loose, when the vehicle is on and the steering is turned to the right or to the left, while standing still or driving regardless of road or pavement. This noise also appears when going over bumps, ruts and raised reflective pavement markers, although in this instance is more of a combination of multiple 'clack' sounds as the wheels go over more than one road disturbance (i.e. Consecutive reflective markers). Manufacturer kia already has a recall for certain years of their kia optima model.

I was driving to work, making a left turn into the parking lot when the front passenger tire blew. The steering wheel pulled sharply to the right and i was pulled into a curb. This caused over $1600 worth of damage to the car. There was a huge hole in the side wall of the tire and no evidence of any metal or anything in the tire. Also, the tire pressure indicator light has never come on, so i know they were at the proper psi.i contacted the dealer when the accident happened, and was told they have no responsibility for the tires. They actually looked at the car and all they said was "this is just bad driving."i then called the kia company and talked to three different people. Their conclusion was they are not responsible for the tires.one person even asked how much i weighed! this vehicle is a 2011 and only has 8,200 miles on it. I had to go through my insurance to get it fixed. I believe that kia should stand by these tires, because nexxen come standard on their vehicles. Since this has happened, i have researched online and have found people have had similar problems with the tires on kia vehicles.

On the above date the referenced kia soul was making a left turn when a ford 350 pick up truck ran into the driver side door area. The pickup truck was traveling at approximately 25 mph. The collision caved in the drivers side door's exterior skin as well as the interior skin without activating the side airbags on the kia soul.

I was driving and a pebble hit my windshield causing a chip which turned into a crack. I got it filled at safe lite. 3 days later another pebble hit my windshield causing a crack.in the past 3 years my windshieldhas been hit & cracked at least 10 times. I have been driving 18 years and have never had a chip or crack in my windshield.obviously kia soul windshields are defective and should be recalled. I should not have to pay out of my pocket the cost of a new windshield.

My son and i were in a severe crash. We were hit from behind at about 50 mph by two cars. We were knocked off the road and down a drop off. We landed and went over large boulders. Car was totaled. Front end and rear end gone. Two wheels came off. No air bags deployed. This is a great concern for people that may want to purchase the soul. All other vehicles in the crash had air bags that did deploy. I think if our air bags were working properly then my son and i may of not had such severe injuries to our heads, backs and necks.

Traffic came to an abrupt stop and iv rear ended ov1 which pushed ov1 into ov2 which was pushed into ov3.vehicle in question (kia soul) was the iv.

We purchased a molten 2011 kia soul.3 months after owning the car we noticed multiple paint chips all over the car and windshield chips.i have less than 4500 miles and i do not drive on gravel or follow salt trucks.i am currently trying to get the kia dealership to repair it.also, a speaker rumbles, it did not start one time (only had it for a few days), and sometimes you can smell antifreeze.the dealership is still deciding if they will help me in regards to the paint and windshield.they have ordered a replacement speaker.they said that the starting system is fine and the antifreeze smell is "the engine breaking in".i have read multiple complaints about pain and windshield chips.please help us!

3 problems :#1 the wheel pressure light stays on when idle and when i'm driving it but, my tires are at the same psi. Makes me keep thinking something is wrong.#2 in the winter time the rubber molding around doors sticks bad and starts to pull itself away from the glue keeping it on.#3 during the winter my windshield keeps icing up really bad (on the inside !). I can actually use my ice scraper on it. I expect this on the outside of a car but, i have never had a car do this on the inside, did they forget to seal it correctly?

Vehicle has sound coming from rear. While traveling at 55mph the hood released hitting the roof above the windshield.caused damage to the roof, the hood and the fenders.note that the hod had not been opened for over a month.also note that the hood was in the fully closed position before starting out on the road on 11/20/2015.

When it rains the floorboards fill with water (literal puddle) front and back, mainly on the drivers side. I purchased this vehicle new and have been the only owner, i did not notice the issue until after the mileage warranty had slightly expired. I contacted the dealer once i noticed the issue and they of course wanted $$$ to even look into the issue. In researching for a resolution on the internet this appears to be a very common issue with these vehicles. The main concern is health safety and possible electrical issues that can result from so much interior wetting. I had contacted the dealer again (bill byrd kia panama city fl) to ask if there was any new information concerning this issue and spoke with and allan and a chris at the site and was hung up on by both individuals.

My husband went out to our 2011 kia soul and opened the driver door and got something out of the car and closed the door normally, no force was involved.when he did the rear hatchback window shattered all the way across crumbling and it blew a hole in the glass.we went to our local kia dealership that we purchased the car from and it was a saturday so only the sales staff was there.we were told to come back on monday which was today and my husband attempted to get them to replace the window as a window shouldn't just shatter when you close one of the doors unless there is some type of defect.the dealership refused to replace the window so he followed up with the kia customer satisfaction line as he was instructed and they also said it would not be covered we could file it with our insurance company.we have a deductible of $500 so we are out of pocket $320 for something that was clearly a manufacturing defect and they aren't standing behind their product.we did research online and there are similar stories to ours regarding kia soul windshields.the gentleman that helped my husband at the dealership said the exact thing happened with another customer's kia soul approximately 2 months ago and the same dealership refused to replace that windshield as well.this is not safe and we are nervous having our children in a car that the windows are going to spontaneously shatter in.

Took car to kia dealership because of a clunking noise in rear passenger side of car when car hit bumps in road.technician was aware of problem on this type of car.they retorqued the rear control arm bolts. I do not know if they did or did not have a service bulletin on this problem.i just wonder how serious a problem this could have become.

Replaced both ball joints.heat shield is vibrating while accelerating. Also have oil pan leak, causing a puddle in the driveway.

The right rear passenger tire makes a clunking noise everytime i hit a bump or turn the vehicle. Feels like the axle is going to fall off.i saw that others are having or have had the same problem. Wanted to post the complaint, hoping that since it is a common issue, kia is forced to have it fixed or reimburse us. It's obviously a problem with the make of the car.

On july 2, 2012 while driving at 50 mph the front passenger suspension system failed resulting in the front wheel going under the car. This resulted in the entire collapse of the suspension, failure of steering capabilities and loss of control of vehicle. The resulting damage affected the body and vehicle structure.

After a rough winter in pa. Started hearing a loud thunking noise in rear of car. Never could figure out what was going on.this year 2015 when going for a inspection, my mechanic told me the rear trailing arm bushing was completely worn away. He was very suprised for the mileage on the car for this to occur. Was more suprised there wasnt a recall for this item.was very costly to repair

Loud clunk in right rear of car probably the trailing arm bushings loud clunk while driving and hatting any bump in the road

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. While driving various speeds, a loud clucking noise was heard near the rear driver side of the vehicle. The contact indicated that the failure occurred while driving over bumps in the road. The cause of the noise was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Wanted to post the complaint, hoping that since it is a common issue, kia is forced to have it fixed or reimburse us. It's obviously a problem with the make of the car.

The 18 inch hankook low profile tires are a death trap in winter. I went down an off ramp sideways. On ice and snow the original manufacturer tires, hankook 18 inch tires, are absolutely awful and a threat to anyone's life driving the vehicle. Breaking in winter is especially hazardous with these tires.

Sunroof is not usable as it comes off of the tracks. Unable to close tightenough due to damage which promotes leaking.

I was driving my 2011 kia soul on a city street at approximately 25 mph when, at about 8:30 am, the sunroof suddenly shattered. I heard what sounded like a gun shot and felt and saw glass coming down on and around me. I was able to pull over immediately. I felt very startled and shaky, but was physically unharmed. I got out to see what had happened and found that sunroof bowed upward at the crack. Nothing struck my vehicle, on the sunroof, or anywhere else. Driving and road conditions were good. It was a clear and mild morning with a temperature of 56 degrees. Upon researching online, i found numerous other similar incidents documented from other drivers of kia souls, other kia models, and other carmakers with spontaneously "exploding sunroofs."

I was checking my vin and it says it has been recalled but we have no information from the kia dealer about it we have this car for over 2 years now and still we have no news about this recall from kia dealer

Car was idle for only 3 days battery was only 12 30 days old car wont start not matter light were on, radio would play air would come on. Car could blow horn and all, car just would get gas or anything at all. Call my tow he jump her and boom she start right away. Went to johnson automative on calder and he did her run she was fine said was battery but i did not have anything on in vechil all she was in my driveway per hurricane laura no filter noithing showed up at all but battery but she only justbought battery last year so hmm

The car won't start after putting gas in several times . After 3 tries and around 10-14 minutes it will start. There are several forums online regarding this haooenedijf to kia souls .

I was driving my car on the florida turnpike at about 70 miles an hour she. It started making a loud clanking noise. Then the oil light came on, the car immediacy made a loud pop, like a gun shot and then the engine shut off while driving. I coasted to the side of the road where i was stranded for awhile. I did get a tow to a mechanic who looked at the car and said the motor was blown.i was not able to get my car fixed in florida so i brought it back to georgia where i reside.a mechanic in vwrgia currently has the car and agrees the motor is blown.he removed the oil pan and the car does have oil. Belief is that the oil pump failed causing catastrophic engine failure.vehicle has had no mechanical problems at all and i have been the only owner of this car since purchase in 2011. Awfully strange that the 2012 models are under recall with the same engine size but not the 2011. This incident occurred onfebruary 21. 2019.

So i parked my vehicle in my garage shut my car off. I got out of my vehicle and shut my garage door. I took garbage bags out to my shed and returned to the garage sat down on chair to take off my boots and i heard loud glass shatter sound. I looked around and noticed my rear window was blown out! i couldn't believe it. No cause other then possible rear defrost issue. Which i had them on prior to parking.

I was driving down the road and it just cut off on me. No warning signs, no lights on the dash, all guages were fine. I towed it home and the next day i examined it to see why it did that. I noticed the water pump leaking so i changed that with the timing belt and thermostat but it kept over heating. I had a pressure check and air pocket check and everything came back fine. I had a diagnostic test done and nothing is showing up. What if i was on the interstate and it did this?

Help! the horn in my kia soul doesn't work, but it is intermittent. Sometimes it works and some times it doesn't.i noticed the problem just recently, but i think its been a problem for longer.when i use the keyless entry fob to lock the vehicle, the first click locks it, and the 2nd click sounds the horn.sometimes the 2nd click doesn't cause the horn to beep and this is when i've noticed the horn not working when i use it manually in the vehicle.but over time, it starts working again.its making me nervous that the horn could not work when i need it the most.i've talked to the dealership and they said they've not heard of this problem, but if one googles the internet there are all sorts of forums and videos of kia owners with the same problem.this should be investigated.

My horn intermittently works - this is a safety issue.on blogs many others report the same issue.

Gas pedal sticks. When i go to accelerate it doesn't go i have to press down harder on the pedal but pulls off faster then it's suppose to .

Brake lights quits working , cruse doesn't work , radio is affected

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into reverse, the engine rpm's increased to 6000 and the vehicle suddenly accelerated in reverse. After shifting to neutral, the engine rpm's continued to increase before suddenly decreasing to normal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.

While driving 3 mph, the accelerator pedal fractured. The police was contacted and stated that the vehicle was potentially included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v123000 (vehicle speed control). A dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case number: 12862172. The contact was referred to the dealer and the manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The first incident occurred while on my way to work last week, rock hit the windshield and broke the windshield.today while driving to work, same thing.i was not tailgating, i was not following any big trucks...nothing.i have been driving for 13 years and have not had this happen to me before.coincidence?i think not.i think there is a default with the glass.i was driving the speed limit and driving as i always do, and twice in a week?unacceptable.

Traveling down highway 35 the front driver side window shattered.no apparent foreign object appears to have hit the glass, it just exploded into a thousand pieces.

2011 kia soul with less than 100 miles had pebble hit driver side door window and chipped it in several spots. At 6,000 miles, pebble hits windsheild that chips and cracks windsheild. Safetylite could not repair and crack is growing. Also, front and sides of car paint is chipping at an alarming rate. Paint chiping is a gross quality issue. However, the substandard glass is a really gross safety issue and can result in injury and or death. There appears to be a pattern of these defects and should be throughly investigated.

Got in car 7:30 am, when i closed driver door, heard glass falling.rear hatch window was shattered into a million pieces.car was parked under a carport, no indication found of anything that might have hit the window.car is parked quite a distance from the street.rear driver door window was open about 1", so no pressure buildup.no grass cutting in the area, temperature 70's - 80's.

Vehicle had been parked in driveway overnight. Temperature had been at or slightly above freezing overnight. When driver entered vehicle and shut driver's side door the rear window exploded outward from the center of the window down to the point of the rear wiper. Outside edges of window also shattered/disintegrated along the outside edge of the seal.

Had just started driving straight on a neighborhood street, hadn't even shifted into 4 th gear, and the rear window spontaneously shattered. No intense heat or cold, no flying debris.

The inside of my front windshield was full of water.i only had the car since august of this year.

Safety issue - passenger front side glass blew out for no apparent reason while parked in driveway.this was a glass defect that would of had greater consequences if this happen while driving and a passenger was in the front passenger seat.kia (case number [xxx]) refused to take responsibility for the problem and insurance stepped in.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The rear window on my 2011 kia soul shattered after closing the front passenger door. The door was not slammed or closed with any force and the car was parked and turned off at the time. It was lightly snowing and around 20 degrees f when the incident occurred. The window was broken from the center, but the glass bowed outward and the edges of the window had crumbled and fallen out as well. The glass is very thin and looks to be of poor quality and i should not have to worry about my car windows breaking every time i exit the vehicle.

Parked in front of coffee shop about 3pm. Windy but warm (not hot or cold weather).came out to find back window shattered.insurance co. Called, will replace window w/ $250 deductible fee.no evidence of foul play involved.

I have owned this vehicle for 18 months, and the windshield cracks way too easily.i've owned 23 cars and never had to replace one before. This kia is getting its 2nd windshield today.i've never seen anything actually hit it, but have heard a 'pop' sound each time, and the windshield splits across.both times it has originated along the edge of the rh side.there are chips at the beginning of the crack like a rock *may* have impacted there, but it seems to crack way too easily and needs to be thicker or stronger in my opinion.

I have a crack in my windshield that is getting bigger- do not recall a rock hitting it...

1. My kia soul windshield was hit by a rock while driving home from work. My windshield now needs to be replaced which will cost me $250.00 insurance deductible .could this have been due to cheap kia glass or poor boxy design as i read from other kia soul owners on the kia forum? if so, please consider this my official complaint.2. I would also like to state my complaint that this vehicle is extremely unsafe as it has the absolute worst blind spots of any vehicle i have ever driven and i am always afraid that i will have an accident because it is very difficult to see when changing lanes.

The contact owns a 2011 kia soul. The contact was driving 35 mph and heard a noise coming from the wheels. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the wheels were not the standard wheel size for the vehicle. The tpms valve stem had broken off inside the wheels, causing the tire pressure warning lights to illuminate constantly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who offered no assistance. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 500 and the current mileage was 30,000.
