I was driving approximately 35 miles per hour on a city street when another vehicle pulled out in front of me.the impact totaled the other vehicle and caused $7,500 in damage to my vehicle, and my air bags did not deploy.while i was not seriously injured, i did suffer significant whip-lash type injuries, and injured my knee when it hit the dash board.
The contact owns a 2018 kia sorento. The contact stated while her husband was driving at 35 mph, when another vehicle intersected his lane on the right side. The driver attempted to prevent a crash by swervingbut crashed into the guard rail on the far left side. The air bags did not deploy. The driver did not have any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to auto body shop.the contact called local dealer (premier kia service center located at 205 n main st, branford, ct 06405, (203) 315-2070) and was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
Frontal impact with a deer on interstate 81 northbound in pa., cruise control set at posted speed limit of 65mph, no airbag deployment at time of impact or after collision chest impacted steering wheel and arm pain from holding steering wheel.
Driving on highway, hit deer. Front airbags deployed. Car swerved onto median and front passenger side crashed into guardrail. Side airbag did not deploy. Unclear why side airbag did not deploy. Front passenger hit head on passenger door window and shattered window, sustained concussion.
My son was traveling down a highway between 45-55 mph when he overcorrected and made full impact of the front of the car with a solid snow bank in the middle median.the radiator was slammed backwards, the front end was demolished with around $12,000 in damage to the vehicle.there is no reason we can find that the air bags did not deploy.we bought this vehicle because of the safety rating but now i am concerned that we have issues with our air bags.will they protect us if this should ever happen again?
The right head light just stops working and i have to open the head light casing and play with the cables to get it to work again. Also the power seats don't work.
2018 kia sorrento - lights have shut off for approximately 3 seconds intermittently driving in various driving conditions (interstate/city street/etc.).can happen multiple times during a single trip (twice yesterday and four times last week all within one trip).can go days without it happening which is frustrating as dealer "needs to see the issue to fix it".observing it in both night and day.obviously more dangerous during night.i have videos from others that replaced the light stalk switch with success.dealer refuses to do this while car is still under warranty as they have not been able to reproduce concern.they recommend that i continue driving and bring it in "if it happens again".they charge me 150 dollars each time i bring it in to tell me "they can't reproduce it".i am seeing multiple people on forums for this issue. In january 2019 a recall was done on my vehicle.a few days later, i was traveling out of state.i was on the interstate driving 70 miles per hour when the car lost power.luckily there was no one behind me.i was told that the recall sent the car into limp mode because the engine was bad.my car was in the shop for over 4 months in wisconsin.i live in iowa.long story short, kia came up with new diagnostic testing and after 4 months they decided i did not need an engine and it was my wiring harness that was the problem. 2 months later, i was driving on the interstate again when my vehicle did the same thingmy car went from 70 mph to 50 mph within seconds.i looked in my rearview mirror and a semi was right behind.thank goodness the driver was paying attention.he had to go onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid crashing into me.i was told the car was once again in limp mode.it was in the shop for 3 days and they said it needed a new knock sensor.fast forward a few more months and my vehicle goes into limp mode for the 3rd time.currently my car is still in the shop.it has been there for 6 weeks.i'm being told that it now needs a new computer, but kia has to write one, so it could be awhile.this car is unsafe.the car going into limp mode is dangerous and unsafe. I have had this vehicle for 15 months and of that, its been in the shop for 6 and counting.
The contact owns a 2018 kia sorento. The contact stated that the driver's side door latch indicated a malfunction on the instrument panel. Headlights turn off while driving on highway and city streets. Service on 3-23-20 andcould duplicate problem. On 9-25-20 driving and dash board indicator switching from flashers on, headlights going from auto set, to off, to running lights, and door locks locking and unlocking. Scheduled service for 10-20-20, but was told if they can not duplicate problem may not be able to repair.
While driving on numerous occasions the car has to be forced to go. It's always hesitating to go and i'm forced to press hard on the gas. In october 2020, the engine light came on and the car went into "limp" mode. I'm very scared while driving with my kids. The dealers have no fix-i will be taking it in for a third time within a year.
I was traveling to florida and saw sparks in the mirrors in the back. I quickly pulled over and went to the back and saw fire, the car was on fire everybody got out, we tried to put it out but it seemed like there was an accelerrent or something cause it was engulfed with fire very fast once we stopped the whole car was burning.+we were on 65 south in kentucky just driving ,no rain roads were dry.
Since 2/2020 i have been back and forth to the dealership multiple times for my check engine light. The dealership has replaced multiple different parts but the light continues to come back on. The dealership has been in contact with kia corporate mechanics and they do not seem to know what the problem is as well. I am very frustrated because i have also reached out to kia corporate office and they have been of no assistance. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and has voiced this concern multiple times.
I was driving on a state hwy about three miles from home going 50 mph. I was the sole occupant in the vehicle when i began to smell smoke.i was able to pull off the hwy. And turn the vehicle off.i opened my door and opened the hood from the inside.when i did, flames and smoke began to shoot out from the hood and i heard a loud pop.i exited the vehicle and within seconds, the whole car was consumed with fire.i called 911 and reported a vehicle on fire. The fire department and ems both responded within minutes.the fire department was able to put out the fire but not before it was a complete loss.after the fire was extinguished, i noted all the doors and the hatch had locked at some point during the fire.i contacted cumberland kia where i purchased the vehicle to notify them of what happened and they took possession of the vehicle that afternoon.
After the software update, my kia had issues with the knock sensor. So, will this vehicle has issues for the rest of the engines life? i am hoping to drive this car for more than 100,000 miles. Is this just a coincidence that the sensor was bad right after the update? the car went into limp mode after a loud clunk. Glad i was close to home!
After turning into traffic on a highway, and i probably should not have, i had to "gun" it to get moving faster. After that the engine light came on and was flashing.then i would say it went into a limp home mode. This "gunning" has happened to me 3 times.
Currently, there is an engine recall on the 2015-2018 kia sorento, which results in premature rod wearing and potential engine fires. Within a few weeks of having the vehicle, brand new off the lot, the engine noises (tapping/knocking) were noticed by a family member. It was reported to kia within the first 3,500 miles on the vehicle, who advised me initially that the sounds were because the engine was new and breaking in and that the sounds were normal. In january 2019, i was advised when i brought the car in for their courtesy inspection that there was a recall and they needed to perform a software update on the vehicles ecm that is supposed to turn the vehicle into limp mode to warn the driver of a potential engine fire before it happens. Kia performed the update and the engine noises still persist. The technician claimed he inspected the vehicle and reported that it was performing as intended and that he did not hear the noise. Lately the noises have been more frequent, so as a safety concern i brought the vehicle back into kia for inspection. Now the dealership and manufacturer instead of checking and confirming the safeness of the vehicle, is blaming an aftermarket oil filter and synthetic oil as the cause of the engine issues, not their engine issues that recalled thousands of cars and resulted in engine fires. Moreover, kia not only refuses to provide me with the diagnostic report and supposedly oil pressure test that they claim to have been performed that gave them those results, they also refuse to confirm to whether the car is safe to be on the road. This is a safety hazard; engine fires are real which can severely injure or kill the occupants of a vehicle. The manufacturer and the dealer refuse to address this hazard and it needs to be investigated, for consumer safety.
I was driving back home i had too work in rodeo california half the way everything was going great i had my 3 children with me my car didn't gave me any warning no check engine light.,no white smoke , i was passing the dodger stadium when suddenly my 2018 sorento just shut downalmost got hit i was about too enter the 710 and nooooo i didnt even got a chance to get out the i-5 southi checked thewater it was full oil was ok no smoke no over heating ones the car shut down i try too stop since when passing dodger stadium in going down hill the damm breaks didnt work god was on my side i stop the car the dash board turn on and off the engine how ever never turned back on. Over the last 6 months my kia has started to act like it is going to die or stall while driving and/or idling. This has happened at various different speeds. I took my kia into the service department and explained what was happening. They ran some diagnostic tests and stated that they could not replicate it. The check engine light never comes on. In december, i received a recall notice for the engine control unit. This recall was completed and now less than a month later the shaking like my car is going to stall is still happening intermittently.recently, the steering wheel started sticking. While i am driving the steering wheel makes me over adjust to keep the car going straight. You can feel the sticking as you have to constantly adjust the steering wheel right or left. This happens every time i am driving, whether on the highway or side streets.

Engine started smoking and cut off.vehicle was taken to kia dealership but representatives do not want to honor engine replacement recall.
Engine completely lost power and shut down on the highway and when restatred, went into limp mode.now engine needs replaced and no engines are available.my car has a mobility device installed to accomodate my missing right leg and any rental vehicle is difficuly to use since i have to remove my prosthetic leg to drive it.i need a vehicle fitted to accomodate my disability and dont know when or if i'll be getting mine back.
Driving down the road the car made a ticking noise and then just shut off

7/23/20 20:30, while driving straight down a city street, just began driving from stopping at a light, and the headlights turned off by themselves.after a few seconds, my wife rotated the lights switch to off then back to auto and they came back on. This is the third time this has occurred since we bought the vehicle in august of 2019.

The headlights on my 2018 kia sorento randomly turn off. It's happened at least 20 times in the past six months. It happens both day and night. The lights are set to auto. Although the even appears to be random, it is while the car is in motion and has happed while driving in parking lots as well as major highways. In order for the lights to come back on, i have to use turn the knob to off then back on. When the lights turn off at night i can not see anything around me nor can anyone else see me. I did contact kia and they ran diagnostic testing but could not find the source of the problem.

Car headlamps shut off when car is in motion, first noticed when driving at night as lights were in auto setting and the dashboard shows the light setting change and the lights outside changing as well with nothing being touched. Lights have completely shut off about 5 times when driving.
The contact rented a 2018 kia sorento. Upon activating the headlights, they failed to properly illuminate and caused a lack of visibility. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
Headlights completely turn off on their own at random times at night. Has happened twice when entering into a curve at night. I have to frantically turn the knob off and then back on to make them function again. Extremely dangerous! took into bulldog kia athens ga. They "verified concern, found open short in multifunction switch" kia will not cover the cost of repair. Total needed to repair $495.78
There's gasoline leaking from the rear driver side from the bottom of the vehicle, this has been a problem for a few days. Just like any other responsible car owner, i take it to a shop; since i no longer trust mark kia's (my local kia dealership) service department since being scammed by them is a normal occurrence, i take it to a pep-boys near the dealership. The gentleman and his manager explained to me that the fix is doable however after literally speaking to every kia dealership (including mark kia) as well as all of their distributors, they learned that the part to fix the problem doesn't exist at this time (as in not sold yet). I was also informed that the fuel assembly in general shows no wear and tear as well as any damage that would conclude user error. In addition, they informed me that the 2017 model has the same issue and as a result was recalled, my research concluded this. I called mark kia and asked them if they were aware of a potential recall, apparently, a tsb could either exist or be in the works that address the issue, instead of trying to work with me on a solution, as usual, the scammers were not helpful. As a result, my car is currently sitting in a pep-boys lot located at 101 s mcclintock dr tempe, az due to kias negligence and i demand kia to look into this matter since i rely on my car for work; without my car i don't make any money.please contact the pepboys below101 s mcclintock dr tempe, az 85281(480) 968-8473

I was backing up when my car just accelerated like crazy and ran over a huge brick mailbox. It was like my car was possess, it became a crazy 4 wheel drive.
The contact owns a 2018 kia sorento. The contact stated that the front passenger seat belt did not have a seat belt warning system to advise when the front passenger seat belt was unfastened. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who confirmed that the seat belt unfastened warning system was not installed in the 2018 kia sorentos. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 0.
The right head light just stops working and i have to open the head light casing and play with the cables to get it to work again. Also the power seats don't work.
Aeb autonomous emergency braking ///will not stop the vehicle and was never intended to do so but is advertised as standard features and should be noted in the safety rating of the auto,,also i believe kia should be made to remove this from their features because of false advertising... Will be happy to supply sticker from auto

This happens every time i am driving, whether on the highway or side streets.
While driving down the road the steering wheel sticks. While you keep turning a little to keep the vehicle straight it will suddenly break loose, causing the vehicle to jerk left or right depending on the direction you were turning the wheel at the time. It is most dangerous while the roads are either snow or ice covered and slippery. Hard to keep the vehicle on the road.
The problem is a sticky feeling in the steering while driving on the highway. When making very small corrections feels like the power steering is turned off. Gentle pressure does not turn the wheel at all. As more and more pressure is applied, it feels like the power steering turns on. This causes the vehicle to swerve due to over correction. The vehicle is incredibly hard to control and unpredictable.occurs at high speeds.extremely dangerous.
Sticking steering then gives when constant pressure applied making a significant sudden steering movement.happens when driving.seems more on right than left.started noticing it a couple of months ago.have not changed anything. Happens when ever driving.
The contact owns a 2018 kia sorento. While driving, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to ed voyles kia of chamblee (located at 5647 peachtree industrial blvd, chamblee, ga 30341, (770) 234-7800) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
While driving down the highway, the steering seems to stick to the right. This has not been noticed while driving in town. This does not always happen. It is random. I have had the car four months and it has been noticed 4 times.
When driving 40+ mph, when the wind is blowing, the steering becomes sticky, notchy or jerky, call it what ever you please. When trying to adjust steering slightly to drive in a straight direction, my steering becomes jerky and dangerous. Kia refuses to look into this seriously. They want me spending hundreds of dollars to get it diagnosed. But how will it be diagnosed when it only happens when it is windy? please help me with this.
The steering is notchy at freeway speeds 50 mph. Athe car cannot be held in straight direction by making small corrections to the steering wheel. Any steering corrections made are met with heavy resistance then steering will move instantly to what feels like a notch. This causes the driver to make another correction in the other direction. Again, this correction is met with heavy resistance and then instantly jumps to what feels like a notch. This correction causes steering to be erratic and fatigues the driver who must make corrections every few seconds leading to an over correction.at highway speeds, it causes the driving to be unsafe as the vehicle is constantly weaving.kia knows about this problem affecting many of there vehicles, but there has of yet been no recall. But, it is a very real safety concern, as it fatigues the driver from the constant over corrections, and causes the driving to be erratic.
Steering is sticking both right and left, can feel it when driving low speed and higher speed on any road city or highway, took to dealer they did a 4 wheel alignment, still doing the same thing
Steering has a "notchy" or "sticky" feel at highway speeds especially when steering from right to left.
Steering felt sticking while driveling on the highway took it in been told it's the steering column.. This is the second issues i have had with my steering 6mths apart. Last time i was told it was something in the drive train an was covered by warranty an the part was going to be replaced but when i took my car in for the sec issue i was told they only did a soft wear update but its also calling for another software update

Vehicle was in a parked stationary position, tried to open sun roof and heard a loud pop noise. Panoramic sunroof glass cracked horizontally clear across roof and met with glass particles all over.

My kia sorento back hatch (rear door) is not opening, it clicks with the key fob and the manual handle, but it needs a lift by hand to be able to open, i did a web search an there are several complaints regarding this issue.
2018 kia sorento sxlthe aeb( autonomous emergency braking ) does not work as advertised or expected..this feature is advertised as aeb and also on the electronic dash as aeb but according to the very definition of autonomous meaning without human intervention to stop the vehicle to avoid a crash does not work and can not be relied on to avoid any type of crash at any speed and i hope the safety board will make kia take action to correct this problem post hast. This vehicle has been to the dealer shop and they assure me all is working and itwill stop the auto from having a crash or at the least minimize the severity of the crash and also give you a warning 1 to 2 seconds before the crash which is totally absurd and also false advertising.please look on the internet and you will find numerous complaints of this problem with no resolve . Kia needs to make this work as advertised or quit putting this on vehicles and then falsely advertising it has aeb will you please test this and help.....

Our car has a third row with two seats in the back and we put 2 people on each row. We had a steel trailer hitch cargo carrier hanging on the back of the car. We have used this device many times with our other 2007 kia sorento with no problems of any kind. We had four large tubs with lids and each of the 4 kids would get a tub to hold their suitcases. These tubs were connected to the cargo carrier with bungie cords. We had planned to spend the night in las vegas and after a 5-hour drive, we arrived at the hotel & we noticed that the tub on the bottom starboard side had been burned significantly. Upon further investigation, we learned that the exhaust pipe was part of the bumper system and that it had heated the one tub and the cargo carrier to such high temperatures as to cause a fire inside the tub. It had melted the tub to the cargo carrier and burned a big hole in the side of the tub. The suitcase inside the tub had a huge black hole in the side and all of its contents were burned or scorched. Since the fire was no longer burning, we decided to not call the las vegas fire department as the threat was over.the next day, before we left las vegas, we went to home depot and found some materials and crafted an aluminum shield to block the exhaust from hitting the cargo carrier. Then we were able to reach our destination in seal beach ca. When we took the cargo carrier off the car, we saw that several of the bungie cords had been melted right to the cargo carrier.through our assessment, we determined that the damages done to the cargo carrier, the bungie cords, the tub, the suitcase and all of its (mostly brand new) contents to be about $1547.15. This did not count the cost to build a deflector so we could continue our trip. It in no way counts the discomfort and trauma my family suffered from this event.
Sunroof spontaneously shattered when driving on the highway at 63 mph. There was no road debris that caused this - in looking at the remaining attached glass, it appears to have broken upwards, not as if something broke it from the outside, but from the inside, like it bubbled upwards.it is the front panel of a panoramic sunroof, and the fabric was open and the sunroof was vented open at the time.

On 8-23-19 at approx. O805hrs i arrived at my destination and parked my kia sorento.i had driven the kia sorento from my residence to vancouver, wa and during this travel period the kia sorento functioned as usual with no indication of mechanical, electrical or functionality of the vehicle.i parked the kia and entered the building. At approx. 0840 a co-worker indicated the kia had smoke coming from the kia's engine compartment. I exited the building to see a small haze of smoke coming from the engine compartment, which began to increase.i used a fire extinguisher in an attempt to neutralize the fire, which only suppressed it for a short time and i didn't open the engine hood due to potential exposure to fire or explosions. The engine fire continued to increase in size and i attempted with another fire extinguisher, which wasn't effective due to size, heat and accessibility of the full engine compartment. Vancouver fire later arrived and extinguished the engine fire continued within the kia's engine compartment.

I am requesting that dot nhtsa investigate the issue of kia sorento's sunroofs exploding. We were driving our company leased 2018 kia sorento heading westbound on i-90 going approximately 30 mph to due rush hour traffic during sunny weather, with optimal road conditions, and we were approximately 16 feet from the car in front of us when all of a sudden we heard a bomb blast sound coming from above us. We carefully felt the sunroof shield and determined the sunroof exploded into many pieces. Nothing from the outside or inside fell on the sunroof to cause it to shatter.we have not used the sunroof since november of 2017.we immediately called the kia dealership to notify them of the problem and they asked us to bring the vehicle in right away. If we had the sunroof shield open, we would have suffered numerous injuries. We continued to investigate online and found a numerous cases of kia sorento's sunroofs exploding. Currently, there is a class action lawsuit against kia for a defect in the sunroofs that causes the sunroofs to shatter without warning. This issue is highly dangerous to kia drivers, passengers and other drivers. Please formally investigate.
