When a cushion (small pillow) is used (i am a short person) on the front passenger's seat, the air bag detetecor turns off the passenger air bag leaving the passenger unprotected.i have contacted the dealer's service dept. And was told there was no work-around for this problem.i also contacted kia motors and was told the same thing..not fixable.sitting in the front passenger seat is uncomfortable for me (arm rest height, windshield visibility, etc.) without the small pillow.i cannot believe there is no way to disconnect the sensor (which i was told was weight sensitive....obviously not, because my weight is the same with or without the pillow).this leaves me without air bag protection or else uncomfortable.had i known this in advance, i would not have purchased this vehicle.not all people are the same height (i'm 5'3"...not all that short) and if kia was putting in this system, they should have made the front passenger seat height adjustable...doesn't have to be electric, just adjustable in height.it is an unsafe condition which you have no knowledge of until you read the owner's manual....a manual you don't have access to until after you've purchased the car.it needs to be corrected.
I was driving on a major interstate in ga (i-75 southbound). Traffic came to a stop; i was at a complete stop when i was rear ended at 70mph by a 3500 dodge ram. I was pushed into the car in front of me which caused major damage to the front and rear of my vehicle. My driver's seat broke, not a single air bag deployed and my seat belt did not lock. This caused my face to hit the steering wheel which broke my jaw in two places, dislodged teeth and caused me to temporarily black out. My jaw required emergency surgery and i now have a plate and four screws in my jaw for the rest of my life - i'm 25 years old. Was traveling on the interstate at around 60mph when a large deer ran out across the road. I attempted to swerve and avoid hitting the animal but was not successful. I hit the deer around 55-60 mph with a direct impact to the front of the vehicle. There was extensive damage to the fender, hood, grill, radiator and according to the insurance claim adjustor, the engine was shifted back into the firewall. During this impact the airbags did not deploy which creates a safety concern for me. I spoke with kia and their findings were that the mass was not large enough to trigger the airbags that i needed to either have direct impact with another car or a wall of some sort. I feel that an impact at that speed and to the front end of a vehicle the airbags should have deployed. I have the document that kia sent if needed.
The airbag sensor came on. I had it looked at and technician said it was a short in the2nd firing under the passenger side.he thought that it mighthave been under a safety equipment warranty.kia says no, it is under the basic warranty, 60,000 miles.my kia is at 66,000.this same problem has been recalled for past model yrs, but apparently has not been resolved.
I had a car accident in february 2017 and my driver airbag was deploy but failed to inflate in consequence i have some injuries that included my arm broken in 3 parts and my nose broken,my wrist of the hand broke, a lot of bruises, my face was very swollen
Going 45 miles per hour and hit in left front and driven into the side of a parked car and no airbag deployment. All 3 cars were totaled and kia motors said the airbags should not have come out.
I was involved in a rear end collision on friday, jan. 3, 2020. I was stopped/stationarybehind a vehicle turning left on a one lane (in both directions) road traveling south. The car behind me struck my vehicle going between 30-35 mph. My vehicle was thrust forward and hit the vehicle in front of me and then the vehicle behind me struck my again, felt like bumper cars. During the initial rear impact my face slammed into the steering wheel causing my nose to bleed profusely for at least 25 minutes. I still have blood coming out of my nose four days later. During this accident in which my vehicle experienced both front and rear collision damage my air bag did not deploy nor did my seatbelt lock. As a result i suffered a head injury both front and back of my head.

We have a kia sorento 2016. The front passenger side light stays on that the passenger side air bags is off, when a person sits on the front passenger seat. I have a gel cushion on the passenger side seat when and a passenger sits in it. The dealer tested it and the light went off when the gel seat was removed and the seat sat on. My question is - why doesn't the air safety cushion work when the gel cushion on the passenger seat? is this a safety issue for a person sitting in the passenger seat? some people need to sit on cushions when in a car because of a possible disability.

I'm not sure i've had my vehicle serviced but nobody seems to know the problem. Every since my headlight was replaced my electrical system has been wacky. All of my doors keep locking and unlocking on its own. When i try to accelerate my vehicle seems to be more stagnant as if it's no longer increasing speed and the steering wheel does not appear to be in alignment with my tires when turning. My son has never been able to open the door while in motion but since the locks have started clicking there's been some close calls.
Driver's side mirror: side mirrors automatically lower when in reverse, but the driver's side mirror will often aim too low--almost straight down at the ground.once in drive, the mirror will reset to the incorrect position, often too high - aiming toward the sky.

Advises that there is no signal being sent from the bcm (body control module) to the shifter and that i will need a new computer and wiring harness at a cost of $3,000+. Car is only 4 years old with 70,000 miles. Replacement part and labor are apparently not covered under warranty. Not being able to shift from park when pressure is applied to the brake is a safety issue and should not be acceptable. Kia should be held responsible for replacing that part. I have read numerous online forums that mention this is happening to many other users. I believe this is due to a faulty of subpar part being used in the original build and that kia knows they were cutting corners. Please look into this and make these manufacturers responsible!!! consumers should not be paying over $30,000 for a car that has major issues 4 years later.
2016 kia sorrento purchased on june 30, 2015.time line6/30/2015- purchased vehicle at fredy kia in houston, texas.7/3/15- started having issues with indicator lights/brought in car to dealership7/11/15- vehicle would not shift gears and was unmovable.i had to get it towed to dealership. Numerous indicator lights were on.7/11/15-7/14/15- vehicle was in the shop at fredy kia in houston texas.i had to rent a car.7/14/15- picked vehicle up and one indicator light still came on (showed the customer service manager)7/16/15- all indicator lights, including check engine lights started coming on, the air conditioner began blowing hot air and car shut off again.car was towed to westside kia for service.
I have had 4 situations where when my car is started, the dashboard warning lights vome on. On two of these 4 occasions, when i attepted to shift from park, i could not and the power locks started malfunctioning. All times the car was stationary. The dashboard reads check tpms system. The kia dealership cannot duplicate the problem so believe since they cannot duplicate the problem, there is no problem. O have provided them with the photos and video of the incidents.
While driving at night while my headlights are in auto position they will randomly turn off for a few seconds and then click back on. This has happened twice in one week. The last time, was while driving 70 mph down the interstate and my headlights went out without warning.
Kia radio plays but will not show anything and can not change anything.

The headlights went out while i was driving on the highway going 70 miles per hour. I was getting ready to brake and turn and was unable to see anything outside of the vehicle. The lights were off for approximately 10 seconds.

Power steering failed while driving. Extreme difficulty to steer, dangerous situation since it happened when i was trying to turn left from the left turning lane on a freeway offramp. Was able to turn car left and change to right lane then moved to side of road.turned off car, on restart power steering returned.
Sparks coming from battery box, lights in dash go off and on can not acceleration and back axle is loose. I bought this used in dothan kia last yr. The car just went down past 2 months. Can't drive my expensive car
Kia kearny mesa, ca dealership performed a class iii trailer hitch tow packageinstallation with vin purchase that included part numbers c6061-adu00 and recalled part number c6061-adus9. The california law required electric brake controller was excluded. I completed the class iii tow package myself for ~$500.00 parts charge and used it as a legal tow vehicle with a 3000 # rv for about 5 months then experienced the trailer light sc142 failure. I replaced the sc142 recalled part number c6061-adus9 with anetrailer company part number tekonsha 118269 successfully and found out about the recall later. Iprovided the receipt of dealership installed incomplete tow package part numbers and the etrailer part installed to both the dealership and kia corporate customer care without resolve for over a year. I request the kia dealership and/or kia corporation reimburse $500.00 parts and current labor costs for neglect to install a complete class iii tow package at time of purchase and denial of reimbursement for recalled part number replacement costs.
The contact owns a 2016 kia sorento. The contact stated that the dealer and manufacturer were aware of an ongoing failure pertaining to the vehicle failing to pick up speed upon acceleration. The vehicle would go into a limp mode or a forced idle mode each time the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer (montgomery chevrolet, 5325 preston hwy, louisville, ky 40213, (502) 968-6111) and a service technician test drove the vehicle, but the failure could not be replicated or diagnosed. In addition, the vehicle was excluded from a manufacturer recall. The manufacturer also had several technical service bulletins, but refused to remedy the failure to provide a repair solution for the contact. The contact also mentioned that the horn and the door locks failed when the vehicle was first purchased. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. Check headlight (low) passenger side low beam light went out.
Trunk is not lifting itself and latch is not locking. And when driving the trunk hits
1st problem a year ago the rear latch to door wouldn't lock and i had to use bungee cords to keep it shut. 2nd problem, the engine was knocking after i returned from a recent road trip. I took it to local (trustworthy) mechanic and they noticed metal shards in the oil pan. They refused to open the engine because it would void the warranty. I had it towed to kia of smithtown and they said it was total engine failure. I said impossible, since i have kept up with all timely oil changes and maintenance and i have the records. There was no warning light of low oil or that the engine was running hot or smoke. Dealer refused to fix and so am in dialogue with an attorney. Kia has yet to send me a bill or approximate charge for engine replacement and has held the suv for 13 days now.
I've seen a few reviews and complaints on how kia's (sorento's in particular) have been losing their headlights for no reason. This has also happened to me, but just on my driver side fortunately. The main bulb is not illuminating and will not come on. I changed the bulb and this did not fix the problem. I looked at the old bulb i replaced and it was fine, nothing was shot or burnt out. I have seen a couple of people saying this could be a connector problem which in fact has nothing to do with the bulb itself. Seeing that this can come up spontaneously worries me and a lot of other drivers on the road who would need to travel at night. This should be addressed by kia and be made a recall due to the fact this happens on practically newer vehicles (my mileage is 31000) i will refrain from keeping my lights on the"auto" setting (which will be a waste of money now) since the problem may occur from having the lights on this setting. I have not gotten the problem fixed due to how much it would cost (replacing the entire light fixture ~ $600) and this not covered by their warranty either (another waste of money if purchased) i will be reconsidering my choice with kia come next auto purchase.
My wife and i had just been home for an hour after a 20 min in town drive. Something had made me look out side of our second story apartment and i asked my wife is your car running? the entire rear end was engulfed in blue smoke. She said no! so then began panic mode! i ran downstairs to the smell of electric fire. So i instantly when to my pickup truck grabbed a pair of pliers ran back to my wife's kia and unplugged both positive and negative battery connections from the terminals which instantly stopped the smoke. I grabbed my flashlight (it was dusk) and crawled underneath the rear bumper to see what was happening. A little black box tuckedbehind the bumper between the spare and the bumper. Looked like a junction box of wire had melted and almost caught on fire. What if we where not around? the car would be a total loss.
Instrument panel and alternator.my kia sorento continues to have alternator failures that shut down the engine while in operation without warning.i had to replace one at 48,000 miles and again at 97,500 miles.the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by two separate kia dealers and they cannot identify why this continues to happen.the first time everything on the instrument panel lite up at one time and then suddenly the engine failed and stopped running in motion, while i was driving on a highway.luckily, i was in the right lane and coasted to shoulder. The second most recent time, the instrument panel flashed a battery so i replaced the battery and then had kia test for alternator problems and their equipment showed no issues although i brought it back numerous times.then two months later it died again and they said it is the alternator.in addition, there is an electrical problem with the radio and backup cameras.to resolve this they showed me a reset button. Clearly, there are electrical shortages or issues. I have had on-going issues with the kia sorento engines stalling and not accelerating and now this with the alternator.this isextremely dangerous!!none of the issues are being addressed yet, they are listed all over the internet.how many people have to die before issues are addressed???
10 months now i've gone with driving my 2016 kia sorento by entering a screw driver in the override mode because i can't get out of park the moral way.i've taken this car into shawnee mission kia so many times i've lost count and they have not only refused to take care of this problem, indicating that bcm or body control moduler isn't covered under my warranty. Well let me say this they got over on me once already telling me i had to turn a claim in on the fuel pipe, and under carriage parts that i now realize was all a lie and should have been covered because kia knew about all those parts being dangerous and still stood by the 'it had to me hitting something under car' .. It's now all surfaced via class action law suit and they still refuse to take car of my drive problem!they will not get me again and i am so frustrated that i just want them to take the car back!i'll never own another kia after this!previously purchased two brand new vehicles from them over 35,000 a car and they can't seem to find it reasonable to make car drive without a screw driver!fed up!

My wife had the vehicle parked on a slight slope in her moms drive way maybe a 10 degree hill. She placed the vehicle in park and left it running while my daughter finished a birthday card she was making in the back seat. My wife stepped out of the vehicle to get some tissue paper out of the back with the drivers door open she pressed the rear door /hatch release or open button located on the dash. She pressed the button at that moment the vehicle came out of park and went into reverse nearly running her over she tried to get in but the vehicle took off to fast she was knocked over my daughter was in the car rolling out of control down the drive way. The vehicle followed the driveway down crossing the main road only doing some light damage where it ran over the mail box and stopped by hitting a tree. We contacted kia and our insurance. Kia opened a case #k3237787 and then they have not responded since. We took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased and left it there. We have still no answers what they are planning to do with this vehicle. This event happened on 7-25-2016. We are requesting some help due to not having a vehicle we feel is safe to park and not worrying about it coming out of gear and potentially killing someone in its path. We also would like to have our vehicle repaired andback to drive since we are paying for it.
I purchased a new 2016 kia sorento tow package that stated on the invoice it included a mobius part number c6061 adus9 (tow hitch harness) ā€“sorento.they part failed june 2019 and was reported to the kia kearny mesa dealership. They initiated a request for the part and it was not received to date. The kia customer care irvine center said the vehicle was not listed as having the part and therefore i was not entitled to the kia internal recall sc142. (google search c6061 adus9) their explanation was the vin didn't include the mobius part number c6061 adus9. I emailed a copy of the purchase invoice that showed otherwise. Please force kia to update their build database to include purchased options. This is the second time i have submitted this safety recall.
There are numerous safety issues i have found with this car i just financed. First, at random many different lights just blow, then on my dash various warning lights will go on and off, on top of that my abs and traction control is off for no reason and so are my passenger air bags. My brakes scream somedays and are touchy others ive replaced the battery twice and only owned it 3 months. I have brand new tires yet the suspension is awful the fuel is going fast and my oil needs changing very often and it is under 100000 miles.
Tailgate electric release fails to unlatch the tailgate.pulling the emergency release does not open the tailgate either.a warning appears in the gauge cluster suggesting that the tailgate is not closed, and the vehicle does not signal that all doors are completely locked after attempting to lock the vehicle.this issue has been previously repaired by a kia dealer.
Yesterday i was approaching a yellow light. The light changed to red as i was coming to a complete stop. I was at a complete stop waiting for the light to change so i could make a left turn. Suddenly the truck shut off completely. I then put my foot on the brake and put the truck in park so i could try to restart it. The truck restarted with no problems. This is the second incidence of the truck shutting off completely. The first occurrence was in january or february of this year. I had entered a left turning lane and was at a complete stop waiting to turn left when the truck shut off completely. I again placed my foot on the brake and placed the truck in park. I was then able to restart the truck. I reported the first incident to nalley kiastonecrest in lithonia ga when i was at my service appointment. They said they could not find anything wrong with the truck.i have also reported this most recent incident to them so they look into it at my upcoming service appointment on october 14th 2017.
Front headlights periodically turns off without warning, goes back on as soon as you touch the light switch. Safety hazard when driving at night! happened several times!the vehicle was in driving motion both on a freeway and also on a highway and street!
Sometimes while driving at night with my lights in the auto position, they will turn off for about 5 seconds before coming back on. This is very dangerous and has happened to me while on a dark highway before.
The vechile keeps turning off and installs when driving but now it got to the point that it turns off nd dosent want to starts until minutes later do to that one of the the headligths when off nd thye charging ports of the vechile ddont work. When u stop it seems that the truck wants to accelerate it self
Vehicle will accelerate and then lose power. Took it in they said not covered under warranty.450.00 to fix tailghts and headlights all went out within a week of each other. Wheels sensors keep saying low tires even after new tires out on.

Traction control - our vehicle has sustained two incidents involving the traction control system.the first incident involved the traction control light on the dashilluminated intermittently while the vehicle was moving.the vehicle was turned off then back on the light would go off.the dealership evaluated the problem but could not duplicate the incident.several months later, the vehicle was in motion at approximately 25-30 mph, in a residential neighborhood, in a moderate right hand turn, and the traction light came on during the turn.the vehicle became uncontrollable when the vehicle steered towards the right and forced us to strike a curb causing steering and wheel damage.the vehicle was take again to the dealership and the manufacturer was contacted.we were told the steering sensor had failed but they could not determine whether this occurred as a result of the collision or if it failed and caused the collision.the vehicle has been at the kia dealership for seven days, the engineering department responded to attempt to duplicate the problem and download data from the vehicle's computer but we have not heard the status as of the 8th day.we are concerned for obvious reasons and feel there's an issue affecting the traction control system which affects the steering.now that a collision has resulted in the failure of the system, it has been very difficult to gather information from kia and feel there may be other incidents that have been overlooked as simple collisions.no documentation has been provided by the dealership relative to either incident at this time.

The kia sorento 2016 my family and were driving and the car went into "limp mode" on a busy street.we nearly has an accident.it was towed to the dealer.the dealer did not know why it occurred.they said they secured the wiring and returned the car to us.approximately a week later the car went into "limp mode" again on another busy road again putting us in danger of having an accident.it was towed to the dealer.they said that they then replaced the throttle.we are not confident it will not occur again.
When driving check engine light comes on an my vehicle will just stop or go into an idle mode. Then my vehicle will not accelerate. We were on a 65 mile an hour hwy and my family could have been killed it was very scary. Called kia dealership an they could care less.

Since i've bought the car motor was burning oil, mechanic said the motors where junk and since i have to change my oil once a month and it still continues to burn oil . My oil light has not worked since we bought it, i will add. Also sometimes my car stalls and doesn't want to start or is delayed. Now the check engine light come on and throws the code p0014. I have taken it in for 3 recalls already and now they won't fix anything since motor is over 60,000 miles but when we call ed before hand to get it fixed they said they needed so many consecutive oil changes and records before they did anything now it's not under warranty convienetiy. I will never own another kia i have never had so many issues.

On september 3, 2018, while driving our sorento, there was a loud knocking noise that started under the hood. We pulled up the uvo information on the dash and it did not display any errors. After having to provide 12 months of receipts for oil changes, kia agreed to cover the engine under their warranty. Waited months to get a new engine after being told 6 different dates that the engine would be in, we finally got our car back on january 16, 2019. After we picked up the car, we drove it home and the car hesitated and turned itself off and coasted. It turned itself back on and we drove it back to the dealer and here we are waiting for an update the next day. We have also had 5 different rental cars due to this. Our car is not part of a recall by the way.

Our 2016 kia sorento has 35k miles and it stopped recently, the engine seized.the dealer claimed it was due to inadequate oil changes (they had records of 2-3 performed by kia dealers, the most recent under two years and 10k miles ago).we never experienced any warning lights or other notifications to foretell the problem.the dealer recommended we replace the engine and are in the process of doing so now.the dealer denied any warranty coverage, claiming abuse due to inadequate oil changes on our part voided their 10-year warranty.despite the large unexpected cost (dealer estimates ~$6k and have had the vehicle over a month), we are mystified this could have occurred and are grateful it didn't happen on the highway or in other circumstances.we believe the complete absence of any warning indicators constitutes a serious safety issue.

Took to dealership was told when they tore down the engine, found rear cylinder leaking coolant; threads to engine came out with bolt itself causing irreversible damage. We were told since not original owners no warranty. This went through kia complaints and then to their regional parts manager who denied any good will. We purchased the vehicle in 2016, it is a 2016 . It had less than 30k miles on it and we produced regular maintenance records on the vehicle. We have been trying to get some resolution with kia for over a year.
My sorento began to make a small knocking noise while i was driving to an appointment with my 3 year old on 7/12/21. I pulled over at a gas station to check the oil and it was not low. I turned the car on and still no lights on the dash although there was a smell like burning gas. It has 86,328 miles on it.i continued to drive to the appt since i was 8 minutes away. While driving at 40 mph the entire vehicle turned off with no warning. It simply lost all power. I was in the middle of a 6 lane intersection with my 3 year old (who has special needs) and was only able maneuver the truck 3 lanes over to the turning lane before it stopped rolling. I turned the car off and then tried to crank it and the only sound was a squeal, but no start up. I crossed the remaining 3 lanes on foot while carrying my son since it quickly got up to 95+ degrees in the car and we had to wait for a ride. I attempted to start the car again and battery was dead. After getting a jump, it started up with a squeal and clanking sound. I called to get a tow truck. My sorento is currently sitting in the parking lot at home and when started it makes a terrible squeal and when the accelerator is pushed there is a terribly loud clanking sound as if something is loose banging around on the inside. It gets worse as the game is pushed.this was a very hectic and unsafe situation for us both, not to mention we missed the therapy appt for my son and we also missed leaving for vacation the following day because we currently have no automobile. I have cancer and next week i am scheduled to have a major surgery to hopefully remove it and now i have no transportation. I am contacting a kia dealership to see what my options are. They claim no recalls in it, but we previously received a recall notice mailed, so iā€™m unsure what is going on and if there will be any assistance from kia.
I brought my 2016 kia sorento in the dealer for check engine light (code p0172). After the evaluated it, they said the fuel pump and fuel lines need to be replaced because it's leaking fuel into the engine and the engine needs an oil change because the oil is diluted with fuel. They said the fuel pump and fuel line is covered under the warranty but the oil change isn't. This fuel system issue is every similar to the recalls that were reported on january 17, 2019 but my car didn't fall under the recall. Could this be part of the recall?

Your $30,000 vehicle, financed, approved and paid for by me nearly stole my life on jan 16, 2021 : on mile post 46 on i-40, east bound lanes in kingman, arizona at approximately 3:00 pm on what was a beautiful trip through route 66, which soon became a death trap my partner: anthony [xxx], co-financer and signer of this death-trap as well as our two innocent parson russell terriers were nearly burned to death in what could and should have been an explosion like that of the press kia & the likes are being sued for. My vehicle is 2016 kia sorento sx v6 with 3.3l engine 6 cylinderi bought the vehicle used but it had been serviced faithfully with records from kia but being a second owner the power train warranty stops at 60,000 miles instead of 100, 000 miles if i were original owner. I bought it from a reliable dealership which it had 81,300 miles at time i bought and only has 85 ,000 miles now but we don't drive it that much and have owned it for 6 months . Now kay has had several complaints about the 2016 sx awd sorento but111 complaints on this particular engine . I was told at the dealership to repair that it had blown head gasket because the bolts had backed out. So kia basically says they are not responsible because i am not original owner so no warranty now. The dealership tells me no motors available because they all have been brought back in to be retooled do it shows there has been an issue but still no recall. I bought a coverage warranty with car shield but they don't want to pay because the dealership can only repair head gasket and can not warrant the work because if it having aluminum head but i have a vehicle me that i owe 19,000 dollars on and have been asked to pay for my repairs now. Kia needs held responsible and pay up to the power train of 100,000 miles .111 complaints on this engine is enough to say let's help these people ... I will never purchase another kia product due to the poor attitudes. Of service department and kia in general. Word of mouth is best advertisement negative or positive for kia and car shield both of them. This is happening under 88,000 miles on majority of these motors. I had about 62,500 miles on the vehicle. We were driving down the highway and it was just blowing cold air from the heater. The vehicle started to stall and rapid decellerate. Thankfully the highway wasn't too busy and we just made it across the lanes to the shoulder; it could've been very tragic if we got stuck in a lane, especially since there was no warning with a check engine light before this. The vehicle was smoking. We got it towed to a repair shop and they confirmed it was overheating but couldn't diagnosis full engine issue. We had to get to a kia dealer to do an engine tear down. They found 6 threads stripped and decided then it needs a new engine. We've consistently done our oil changes and maintenance so is very concerning how quickly and severely this engine issue came up. Unfortunately we are just past the 60k mile warranty and kia is willing to only offer minor assistance despite evidence of other vehicles having similar engine issues.

I started experiencing overheating issues in july. Knowing kias are notorious for engine trouble, my mechanic checked the head gasket. It was fine but my radiator fan needed replaced. The very next day after having my fan replaced, my head gasket blew, driving down a state route. No warning, no check engine light, nothing. I have now had my entire engine replaced (long block, cylinder head, and gaskets). They have now discovered that my radiator is leaking, which like the radiator fan, is not covered under warranty. It seems that kia knows there is an issue with these cars and is doing nothing to recall them.

Oil consumed at an alarming rate. I had my oil changed not even 1000 miles ago and the entire 5 liters were consumed and the engine was bone dry. This has been observed over the past three oil changes (roughly 36000 miles on). I was coming down a hill at roughly 35 mph and the oil light blinked. As soon as i got home i checked and the engine had no oil in it.
My temperature gauge began reading hot while driving. After replacing the thermostat and the etc sensor, my car was diagnosed as having a faulty cooling fan. This should not happen on a quality car that is just a few years old. I have been without a car for over a week while they track down the part and it is going to cost me over $500 to have fixed.
I noticed that the engine fan kept running occasionally when i would turn the car off. Then i noticed that the thermostat would sometimes run very hot, and that was when the engine fan would continue after vehicle shut off. I took the vehicle in to the dealer to get it checked out, and they shared that it was total engine failure due to the head studs pulling out of the engine. This was causing coolant to get into the engine and burn. The vehicle had 130,000 miles at this time. It turns out because of the head studs stripping out, antifreeze was getting into the engine. The engine needed to be replaced. Total engine failure.

Multiple times i will be driving along, and at either a slow speed or stopped at a light, the car will just shut off. This is not safe!also 2 times the exterior lights have not come on in the dark even if you turn them on yourself nothing comes on and its been dark driving when that's happened! i'm worried for the safety of myself and children in this car, and the dealership and service dept do not find anything wrong with the car. But in looking online a lot of people have this complaint as well!if this happened to me at a high speed or driving on the interstate that could cause an accident and injur people!please help!

I am 70 year old woman. Not a speedster .while driving engine blew on the freeway doing 65 mph. Car is in excellent condition with 124,000 miles on it. With the exception of the engine blowing up. Oil was changed every 3000 to 5000 miles.

Recently, i started to experience issues with my vehicle that included engine stalling on the highway during heavy traffic conditions and on local streets while driving with my daughter in the vehicle. Additionally, the check engine light was displayed on the dashboard.when this occurred, i immediately called the alm kia dealership to request a diagnosis of the check engine light. I arranged to take my vehicle to the atlanta west kia dealership where a diagnostic check was performed stating that, 4 part induction service, 4 part fuel injector replacement, and a 4 cylinder tune up was needed. When i recieved the estimate from atlanta west kia, i called the service department at alm kia in union city because i was perplexed that the above services were never communicated to me by my service advisor at kia union city when i took my vehicle in for an oil change on 11/11/20. (note: technicians also performed a multi-point inspection as well). My service advisor aaron austin acknowledged that he neglected to tell me that i needed the same services that atlanta west kia wanted to perform. However, he stated that if i brought my vehicle back, he would perform the same services for $569.99.after obtaining both service estimates at the kia dealerships, i still felt very uncomfortable with the quotes from kia and decided to take my kia sorento to an independent vehicle repair shop, tri-star automotive, in order to diagnose the problem with the check engine light. After a thorough diagnosis and analysis of my vehicle engine, tri-star automotive mechanics concluded that my engine problems were more extensive than noted at the kia dealerships.tri-star automotive provided a detailed analysis of their findings and written estimate to repair my vehicle along with a photo of oil leaking from the #4 cylinder valve of my kia sorento along with stating that my engine needed to replaced.

Staring in january 2017 (purchased may 2016) at around 16k the car stalled several times in traffic and would not accelerate.no warning light or anything. Within a minute the car began to work as normal.took it in to kia in avon, in and they were not able to replicate but did a service recall. Happened again in may 2017 at 16k. This time more frequently to duplicate. Kia could duplicate and said relearned computer.nothing again until 19k in jan 2019 on highway. Car barely missed me as i coated to the side of the road.kia could not duplicate and although said they would escalate for buyback, never contacted me again. Dangerous issue and worse they dont seem to care.
2016 kia sorento-first i would like to comment on the warning lamps. I had no warnings, no lights for my oil. I checked the dip stick and it was dry. I was still good in my timeframe from my last oil change. Luckily i made it to the store to buy oil to put in it. Itā€™s now in the shop being looked at and having its oil changed. Second, my blind spot sensor goes off at times when thereā€™s not even a car near me.
October 10, 2018drove car into driveway, shut car off, parked,went into house for about 2 mins, came back to car, it was smoking from under hood.i turned on faucet in garage, and sprayed water on car.called 911.within 2 mins, i saw first spark, left area, ran over to my sisters house, next door,on phone with 911 and within 4 mins of car smoke, burst into flames, 2 explosions.fire dept arrived with in 10 mins of smoke detection.flames higher than the house.car totaled, and house siding melted away from house.

I purchased the car as used in 2019 and no active recalls were listed and still arent. A bout a month later i noticed my low oil pressure light was popping on and off at random intervals while driving on city and rural paved roadsi checked and engine was empty of oil. Oil was replaced and two week later the same thing. My 4th cylinder has now died . The spark plugs were replaced and it was fine for two weeks then stopped working again while i was on the highway. Replaced coil pack but this did not change anything. Upon investigation i found out the engine had been recalled but no evidence or recall was showing for this vehicle. Per website replaced engines have bright orange dip stick for the oil which this vehicle does, but all the problems associated with original recall information exists. I filed complaint with kia only to be directed to a dealership. The front left low beam has burnt out twice within 6 months as well.

Yesterday i was approaching a yellow light. The light changed to red as i was coming to a complete stop. I was at a complete stop waiting for the light to change so i could make a left turn. Suddenly the truck shut off completely. I then put my foot on the brake and put the truck in park so i could try to restart it. The truck restarted with no problems. This is the second incidence of the truck shutting off completely. The first occurrence was in january or february of this year. I had entered a left turning lane and was at a complete stop waiting to turn left when the truck shut off completely. I again placed my foot on the brake and placed the truck in park. I was then able to restart the truck. I reported the first incident to nalley kiastonecrest in lithonia ga when i was at my service appointment. They said they could not find anything wrong with the truck.i have also reported this most recent incident to them so they look into it at my upcoming service appointment on october 14th 2017.
My check engine light came on back in 2018 or 19 i have since been going to the kia dealership with this issue making multiple attempts to resolve. I have had them replace oxygen sensors flushed fuel induction system and other things that they recommended. This did not resolve the issue at one point back in 2019 kia had my vehicle for over 45 days almost 60 days to return it to me without knowing what the issue is and making recommendations to replace very expensive parts. I have since taken the vehicle back for regular repairs and services. No i have come to the place where my vehicle is in need of an engine as a result of this ongoing issue that seems to be an issue with the same make and model for other individuals. A check engine light fuel issues and now a shot engine
For about a week my car had a terrible smell of fumes, nor air or heat. It then started over heating. I parked it and had it towed go the dealer. It was still under warranty and we were told it was a head gasket issue. Then they tried moving the car and the entire engine blew. The dealer has already had my car a month and told me they have no received a new engine and don't know when they will. After looking into i see many cases where 2016 kia sorentos are over heating catching fire and blowing up
I had power lose while i am driving on high way or on street where you go a little uphill. Even after they replaced engine on my 2016 kia sorento. It does not happens on the straight road, only if there is uphill.
My engine keeps burning oil at an extremely fast rate and the oil is very dark.every time i take it in to get an oil change or top off, the mechanics tell me that my care has excessive oil consumption and something is wrong with the engine. My car also hesitates to start. Iā€™ve taken it to get checked out twice stating my concerns, and the mechanics are not able to find anything wrong with it.also, the indicator light does not come on when my oil is low, which has led to me driving my car with no oil in it.

The kia sorento 2016 my family and were driving and the car went into "limp mode" on a busy street.we nearly has an accident.it was towed to the dealer.the dealer did not know why it occurred.they said they secured the wiring and returned the car to us.approximately a week later the car went into "limp mode" again on another busy road again putting us in danger of having an accident.it was towed to the dealer.they said that they then replaced the throttle.we are not confident it will not occur again.
Major consumption/burning of oil between oil changes. Was a quart low when had oil changed the end of september. By the end of october all of oil had burned out and had to actually add oil, then take to auto shop to check for leaks.no leaks.they did another oil change and now i have to constantly keep eye on oil level -- had to add oil again.

At 65,000 miles my 4 cyl. Sorento started losing oil. The light came on once when no oil on dipstick. Original owner. Contacted kia, said to do oil consumption check. Have done. Using 2 quarts every 1000 miles. They are dragging their feet, not responding to my emails requesting a solution. It's nothing i've done. What good is their 100k warranty when they won't fix the problem.communication with kia customer assistance very slow and poor. Two weeks ago, my 2016 kia sorento 3.3l v6 awd just all of a sudden sounded like something was breaking under the hood. There were no symptoms prior to the failure, and no warning messages or lights. Luckily, i was able to safely get off the main highway as soon as i heard the noise. After having it towed to the local kia dealership, the kia service advisor later indicated an engine rod broke, there are bits of metal everywhere, and a total engine replacement is needed. My experience and this diagnosis seem to align with what the kia engine failure class action settlement just addressed earlier this year in a range of vehicles including the 2016 kia sorento 4 cylinder engines. My vehicle is still inoperable and located at the local kia dealership with no resolution in sight. I have owned the vehicle for ~4500 miles / 7 months and purchased it from a kia dealership as a "certified pre-owned" vehicle with a dealership-provided extended warranty. It has ~85000 miles total on it.
My vehicle is only 5 years old and has 70,000 miles on it. I was driving on the highway and then all of a sudden my vehicle would not accelerate. My check engine light can on and continued to blink--which is nota good sign and indicates obvious serious engine issues. There is no way a car that new with that many miles should have engine issues.
The vechile keeps turning off and installs when driving but now it got to the point that it turns off nd dosent want to starts until minutes later do to that one of the the headligths when off nd thye charging ports of the vechile ddont work. Driving home late evening february 2018. Engine quit running had seized up. Had owned for only 7000 miles. Dealership( missoula billion kia) has had the car since june 8, 2018, for repairs. They now say no replacement engine until september at the earliest.
Driving on the highway my 2016 kia sorento suddenly lost acceleration. The check engine light began flashing. I had to pull off to the shoulder and have the vehicle towed. Diagnostic shows code p1326. This code is related to the knock sensor.

On 28 july 2021 at 16:44, while traveling 65 mph on i70 west in maryland the kia sorento started to smoke from the undercarriage and then under the hood. The kia abruptly shut down and i was able to cost off the highway. The vehicle was towed to dar cars kia of frederick. After 10 + days on the dealer's lot, a technician said the engine had failed.kia has refused to acknowledge any responsibility for the engine failure, stating because the car was not brought in to have a recalled engine component repaired. According to a search, there are no open recall statements for this vehicle. In addition, we never received any notification of any problem with the kia sorento
Car kicks when driving.oil burns out after oil change. Every week or 2 i have to put oil in. Problem still continues after kicking problem was somewhat fixed.car still kicks but not as hard today. Engine oil is still burning up quickly

Months ago car just struggled to run while driving. Flatbed picked it up on roadside and brought to garage. Mechanic thought easy fix (a belt). Replaced belt. Still same issues. It was not due for an oil change, but mechanic decided to change oil even though he has done it every 3000 miles since brand new. He found flakes in oil and suggested not to drive it and it needed a new motor. Flatbed brought car home and it has been parked ever since.

We bought our car from carvana june 19, 2018.on june 27th the vehicle wasn't responding to acceleration.it was stalling.it would go into reverse but as soon as i put it in drive it would stall.upon inspection the service person heard a noise coming from the belt area.upon further inspection they found the water pump leaking profusely covering the splash shield.the sop water pump and gasket were removed and replaced.they topped off the coolant and test drove the vehicle and it began operating as designed.on august 21, 2018, the car started hesitating when i pressed the accelerator while driving on the freeway during rush hour traffic.after it had been parked all day i backed the car out of the parking garage and once i put the car in drive it stalled.again, i started the car, acceleratedand the car stalled as i was entering the freeway.i had to pull over to a side parking lot and call roadside assistance.the car was towedto horne kia.the service attendant called and explained the the high performance fuel pump was not moving fuel into the motor causing the stalling.i asked if this was connected to the the other stalling issue and he said, no, not at all.i feel that there is a serious safety concern and i would like this to be looked into as a possible recall issue.i'm consistently having a stalling issue. The on board car diagnostics is not detecting an issue.this is a 2016 kia sorento with 30k miles.
The motor oil disappears it's like it just evaporates into thin air.it will be bone dry and i have no leaks.i have to check it about every 2 weeks and refill it. This has been an ongoing problem since i bought the car.
My kia was bought 1/2016 and since then my steering column has had to be replaced 3 times, cadillac converter once, and my car is now ready after 23 days because of a motor leak that had cracked the block. Everyone of these have been defects that kia has covered and yet i can't seem to get anyone from the escalations department to talk to me about a buyback or getting me into another car. It had 5 miles on it when i bought it and now is around 80,000.
I bought my 2016 kia sorento in 2019 since i purchased it the motor has went out in it which had to be replaced which i had to pay the warranty fee plus other cost not included in the warrenty, i have had to change my back tail light at least once a month because it keeps going out and i don't know why the transmission seems to stall when i try to accelerate it makes a noise that sounds like open air the car jumps slightly sometimes and at times it won't accelerate here recently on 2 occasions the accelerator still accelerated after i removed my foot from the pedal this scared me mainly because my kids were in the car and it seemed like it was accelerating to full capacity after tapping the pedal with my foot multiple times if finally released.
2016 kia sorento has had problems with fuel pump and probably that fuel line so i had to have it replaced and then now see a recall for those so is this newer recall or what and also what could i do if i had private ase certified mechanic fix this and the kia has a little over 84k miles on it. 2016 kia sorrento lx with the 2.4 engine with 54,000 miles is using 1 quart of oil per 400 miles. The tail pipe is emitting an oily black soot. While driving, an engine ticking noise alerts us that the oil is low. At this rate we will have replaced all the oil with 18.5 quarts of oil before the scheduled 7,500 mile oil change. The mechanic at the portland oregon area dealership is trying to tell us this is normal. The vehicle is currently involved in their oil consumption test loop, like so many others. I smell a rat.
The engine failed in the middle of the freeway all of a sudden with fumes coming out of the bonnet.
In may 2021, my husband was driving the car and was bout 50 miles away from home when the engine caught fire. The car was towed to a repair shop where they confirmed the engine fire and stated the engine had thrown a rod. The car is only 5 years old and has 107,000 miles.
I'm highly disappointed in my 2016 kia sorento ex awd.just yesterday i brought the vehicle in for an oil change tire rotation and coolant flush.one of the service advisors had let me know that the vehicle is leaking oil and i'm going to need a new oil pressure switch and a new drain pan since that's where it's leaking from.for a price of $425.upon looking and scouring the internet it looks like this is a very common problem with kia and just the step before of engine failure.i don't know why nhtsa doesn't make this a standard recall considering the sportage has the same recall available.i mean it's a known fact kia engines are lacking in oil ,catching on fire and failing. I bought this car as a certified pre-owned to be rest assure with my uneasiness about buying a used car and i've been at the dealership getting repairs left and right. I'm not even at 60,000 miles and that's how ludicrous this is!granted the first person who owned the vehicle or at least it rather put 19,000 miles on it.it's already been in for service with the transmission i needed a torque converter and that was covered under the warranty thank goodness and now this oil leak from the oil pressure switch and oil pan needs to also be covered under warranty but i'm out of luck.there's thousands of complaints online about the same darn problem.
My 2016 kia sorento that i purchased used which had 80,000 miles on it at time of purchase on 11/6/2020. I didnā€™t drive it daily because i had a company car i used for work. Well on 4/28/2021 i am driving my vehicle home and i started smelling coolant so i am 1 1/2 miles from my house so drive it in and the temp gauge is now at hot. I call towing company and have it towed to a kia dealership 90 miles from me because no one in my town services kia not has the equipment to put on the kia to run report. The kia dealership tells me that the bolts has backed out and and caused a head gasket to blow . They recommend a new engine which none are available because all being refurbished so all they can do is redo the bolts and rehex but they do not warrant their work because itā€™s not recommended approach . I am not original owner so the 10 yr:/100,000 mile power train does not apply and the 5/60,000 does not apply because it has 80,000mikes. I had purchased carshield but they refuse to cover the cost because they say the head and gasket plus the reboring the holes and rebolting not part of the internal mechanism so they refuse to pay. So issues with the 3.3l v6 gdi are faulty and kia is aware. I want someone to make kia put this on a emergency recall and need engine replaced with a new one and kia needs to make it right immediately while itā€™s still in shop and been there over 3 weeks because i have been arguing with kiacustomer affairs, carshield and all the other levels . We need to file a class action lawsuit . All kia says we report the the issues but nothing gets done . I will never purchase another foreign vehicle or definitely not a kia because any company that wonā€™t stand behind the piece of crap power train needs to be put out of business . Takata recallwhile driving my car, it completely shut off in the middle of the road. It was almost like it was out of gas but had a full tank gas. We tested the battery also. It still failed to start back. It would not start back after multiple attempts and i had to get it towed yesterday. The mechanics i had it towed to says they think it may have something to do with the engine but are unsure.
While traveling 700+ miles from home, engine started knocking. Vehicle had just been to dealership for service within two weeks of traveling and no issues were found. After knocking started found closest dealership and was informed by service manager that the engine needed replaced. Vehicle has 68k miles and was purchased new in 2016.
Uses and takes so much oil every 1-2 weeks. This should be recalled. I have to replace my spark plus because of the oil getting into them. I've had 8 plugs go back so far in the past 4 months. This is an ongoing issue. I've had my sorento for almost 2 years. Regretting getting a kia. Well they didand was told thisduring engine tear down, one of the necessary inspection on the 3.3l engine is to toque the head bolts to verify it did not damage the engine block. Sometimes when they over head, the pull the threads out of the engine block. This is what happen to your engine during tear down. And because of this, the engine can no longer be properly assembled. " so they said i neededa new engine. Car mileage was at 79k. Cost for new engine plus labor est. 12k .

Driving loaner vehicle since january 2019.

I have approximately 64,000 miles on my car. A few weeks ago, i noticed that it wasn't blowing warm air, and asked that the shop take a look at then when i got an oil change. They didn't notice anything wrong. I haven't really been driving it due to the stay-at-home orders, but a few days ago i was going to go to the store, and before i even left the driveway, the check engine light came on, the car was making a terrible sound, and there was a ton of white exhaust. We had it towed to the dealer, and they called to report a total engine failure. Unfortunately i am the second owner so my power train warranty expired at 60k rather than 100k.

Started going up a mountain highway and my car started jumping and immediately decreased speed. It would not go and kept skipping, like a stop and go type of deal. My check engine light starting flashing and i had to pull over. After i got my car towed it was found that the car had zero oil in it. Like bone dry but with zero leaks anywhere. The mechanic checked everything twice to make sure everything else was intact and it was. My oil light never came on and it never smoked or overheated. I had zero indication that the car didn't have oil. I was 900+ miles from my next oil change. It was like the oil evaporated into thin air. We are completely baffled as to what happened and why the car didn't have any oil in it. Because of no oil, a piston broke and the engine threw a rod and it is ruined. My car needs a whole new engine now. The mechanic stated that the only thing wrong with the car was no oil and that it was like it just disappeared because there was no oil residue anywhere.

When the ignition is started with the car in park, the vehicle vibrates really hard as if it wants to cut off. This has occurred with 3/4 tank of gas and 1/4 tank of gas.with the vehicle vibrating, the car is placed in "d" drive and the foot is applied to the accelerator for acceleration but the vehicle does not move.the vehicle is then placed back into "p" park and the vehicle continues to vibrate until it shuts off.this issue has been report to dean mccrary kia in mobile, al on several occasions and i was told if the vehicle does not have a code when it is brought into service there is nothing they can do.i did explain that when the issue occurs it only last for a few minutes then the vehicle runs ok until the issue occurs again.
My engine seized. There were no warning lights prior. I was driving on the highway and my engine lost power vehicle shut down and engine light and battery light came on. No prior warning lights were on the car.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty and did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000.
When starting up car, vehicle shakes violently from engine, and then dies. This is an intermittent problem, and because kia technicians cannot find a problem, and cannot replicate it - they are brushing the problem off. Their techline is useless. I escalated the case to the customer relations line they told me they cannot do anything unless they can replicate the problem. They even suggested that i use my phone to record each time i start up the car so i can send them the video. And then they were nice enough to tell me that i need to pick up my vehicle immediately as it had no problem. This was not acceptable, so i attempted to contact corporate where a representative called me once, left her number and i returned her calls on numerous occasions and she has never called me back.
Takata recall 1 month ago i picked my son up from school...as i was pulling out of the parking lot i was unable to accelerate by pushing the gas pedal. I coasted home going 8 miles per hour. I turned the vehicle off and let it sit for 2 days. When i got back in it everything was working fine. 2 weeks later i went to have my oil changed and was told there were metal shavings in my oil filter, there were 2 inches of sludge and the oil was black. I keep my vehicle serviced regularly because i commute to work. They changed my oil and i left. 10 minutes later i was on the side of the road. I was driving to the store and again i couldn't push the gas pedal to accelerate and a knocking sound appeared. As i tried to pull to the side of the road i look in my rear view mirror to see a white cloud of smoke coming from my car. So thick i couldn't see behind me. I coasted into a parking lot and at this point i had no control of the steering, gas pedal, or breaks. I finally rolled to a stop outnit in park and got out of my car. Every drop of oil they had put in my car was on the pavement. I called a tow truck and we found a huge hole in the oil pan where my engine had apparently thrown a rod. There are 6 recalls on the year make and model of my car but not specifically on my vin. Everything that has gone wrong involves those recalls and kia isn't owning up to it. My brother works for true car and ran a report finding that there are recalls on my vehicle but kia is saying it is inaccurate. I have the report in my possession and they wouldn't allow me to send it to them for proof.
Total engine failure at 50 thousand miles at highway speeds. Transmission acting funny & shifting hard in weeks prior to engine failure.
We had issues with the tpms in 2020. Took it to tempe kia on 7/30/2020.the following was done on vehicle. 1.installed 37110 h7a00u 2. Complete transmission service w/bg cleaner installed um013, kbg3020-cooling system kit, um040 antifreeze/coolant, 58101 c6a00 pad kit- front disc b, replaced air filter 28113 a9100 total amount paid $1,019.96. At that time oil was checked off as green. 11/25/2020 four new tires from costco were put on. Tpms issue came back in may of 2021 when vehicle was parked outside.we live in az so the temperatures get hot but when the tpms light come on it shuts the car down where it could not go into gear until it cooled down.moving forward to july the tpms light stayed on and the check engine light came on and vehicle began to sputter.we took it to our mechanic and he diagnosed that we needed a new engine.there was sludge build up, knock sensor codes came up, miss fires on bank 1, and internal engine noise. We had the vehicle towed to our dealer tempe kia.they concurred that a new engine would be necessary. Many codes were found p0300, p0306; p0304; p0302; p0018. Had a conversation with debby 10:00 a.m. For 55 minutes 7/20/21from kia and was told that due to lack of maintenance on the vehicle that kia would not cover this engine under warranty. We were told that our oil changes were out of the time frame that kia specifies in the owners manual that the 2016 kia sorento should have an oil change every 7,500 miles. We had oil changes every year from purchase to failure.some at 8,000 miles to 15,000 miles. There are many complaints and cases open for the 2016 kia sorento engine failure. We have a 2012 kia sorento that the engine failed but a recall was issued for finding metal shavings in the engine.we purchased a 2021 telluride in june but, moving forward we will not be purchasing anymore kia vehicles.we are truly disappointed that kia found a way out of our case and will not warranty our engine.
My kia sorento has 70,000 and every 1,500 miles i have to add 3 quarts of oil. I have no oil on my driveway or underneath the car so i have no idea where it's going. And i do mostly highway driving
Car started to "chug" during start, took to repair shop and was told the engine failed and blew the head gaskets. Final recommendation was new engine. Car has 90,000 miles and is out of warranty. Was bought at a dealer used, but it was not kia certified, even though it was bought at kia of old saybrook. Currently car is at bozrah auto in ct and the engine is 3 weeks from delivery because there is a waiting list for the engine, which makes me wonder how many engines are being replaced on these suv's?
I get my car serviced every month or so because i commute quite a ways from my home to my job recently after my car engine check light came on i got my fuel injection system flushed spark plugs changed and brake pads done at the same time also wheel alignment and my first day back to work once getting my car serviced i donā€™t feel the same i feel like my car struggling and then getting on the freeway my complete engine shut off but then turned back on and continue to drive i didnā€™t even have to stop it i almost crashed but luckily i was on the far right lane i also received a recall a year and a half ago for my car but now theyā€™re stating on the nhts that there isnā€™t one i filled out the forms never heard back but i also took it into a kia dealership in perris ca and had my car checked for a recall the guy said there was no recall but i had the forms from kia myself showing him that my car had a recall but because he said i didnā€™t have one and i didnā€™t think or hear back from kia i figured it was ok iā€™ve never followed up but i should have follow up which i should have done because i didnā€™t think it was serious but now my life being flash before my eyes itā€™s serious and i donā€™t know what to do because when i take it back to the mechanic thereā€™s no diagnostic code thatā€™s coming up but my car is messing up and iā€™m really afraid i have attached copies of my recent recent receipts and luckily i made a plank copy and my copy of my original that i mailed back off for the original recall on my car that i received

Blown engine on my 4 year old kia sorento. Car started blowing out a lot of smoke and was running bad out of nowhere. Took to mechanic and was given the bad news that at the very least it's a blown head gasket but once he started getting into it he realized the engine is finished.
"takata recall"kia sorento 2016 model sx-awd it started making weird noises from the engine and felt little thumps when i press on the accelerator and binding noise from the rear of the vehicle from the beginning of 2019. The car does not exceed over 90mph.
I have complained to kia regarding excessive oil consumption. The dealership stated my head gasket needed to be replaced. 2 weeks after kia replaced, i had a routine oil change at my local mechanic who regularly performs maintenance. He contacts me and has me come down to show me he did not want to do the oil change as he noticed that the gasket had not been changed as i had claimed it was when i dropped it off earlier in the day. He agreed to order the parts and when replaced gave me the parts which could not have possibly been new. I called smithtown kia reporting a complaint at paying nearly $500 and no repair was made to my car. At which, i was told there is an issue with the engine of my car as they received a ā€œwarning noticeā€¯ from corporate. They explained i would likely need to replace the engine. They refused to refund my money for a repair not made. On 5/7/21, i was traveling to delaware and on the nj turnpike traveling at highway speed in the left lane, the engine decelerated and warning lights appear saying engine failure service required. Nearly being hit by cars traveling behind me and subsequently attempting to move to the shoulder was almost hit by 2 commercial trucks. A frightening experience and left stranded. The car was towed to a local mechanic who indicated the car needs to be towed to kia as the engine is not performing. Having to wait until monday, my car was towed to the nearest dealership in delaware. Iā€™m currently without a vehicle and waiting for the dealership to diagnose the issue. Iā€™ve been told the service department will likely assess the car in 3-4 weeks due to all the engine failures they are addressing. The incident was traumatic for myself and my passenger, we could have been killed. My vehicle has always had oil changes, car fax and all my receipts can attest to my adherence to the maintenance of my vehicle. Iā€™m praying this does not happen to anyone else and certainly not to an inexperienced driver as this would be a tragedy.

Staring in january 2017 (purchased may 2016) at around 16k the car stalled several times in traffic and would not accelerate.no warning light or anything. Within a minute the car began to work as normal.took it in to kia in avon, in and they were not able to replicate but did a service recall. Happened again in may 2017 at 16k. This time more frequently to duplicate. Kia could duplicate and said relearned computer.nothing again until 19k in jan 2019 on highway. Car barely missed me as i coated to the side of the road.kia could not duplicate and although said they would escalate for buyback, never contacted me again. Dangerous issue and worse they dont seem to care.
Vehicle engine broke down on highway at 62k miles with loss of power and heavy smoke. Ultimately had to get new engine installed by the dealer but literally day after they returned the vehicle, it lost power on the road again with heavy smell of gas. Dealer said they fixed the fuel injector and o-ring but once again having same issue in sep (after minimal driving for past couple months). Vehicle still with dealer because they diagnosis issue after replacing fuel injector and gasket again.something is wrong with the v6 kia sorento engines and fuel system.
While merging on to a highway, the vehicle lost propulsion, when gas pedal was pressed vehicle would not respond and accelerate.this happened while driving on a busy highway outside of boston and my wife narrowly avoided a significant crash with multiple vehicles due to the quick actions of other drivers.when vehicle was brought to dealership the issue is not on a public list of recalls but rather a known safety issue that does not show on an active recall list.we are new owners to the car and the dealership we purchased from was not a kia dealership so alerts did show on vehicle report.i feel a known issue with a safety concern this significant should be shown on a recall list, we were very lucky many people were not injured or worse.
On my drive home from the city, vehicle started making a ticking sound. 10 minutes after it started my car was shaking and trugging along barely. Barely made it safely into a parking lot. And only pulled over because i immediately called the dealership to find out what to do. Luckily, i had none of my children in the car and was not in a busy area. Car only has 30,000+ miles on it and was told the engine failed. Had it in the dealership 3 weeks before this happened and they claimed everything looked great in the car. Kia is refusing to replace the engine.
2016 kia sorento with 67,000 miles had flashing check engine light.car was towed to the kia dealership in which the service advisor said the fuel injector was broken which spilled fuel into the motor causing $7,800.00 of damage.the diagnosis sis not and will not determine if it is a faulty injector and kia will not participate in covering the other parts effected in the warranty.they offered a good grace assistance for $2,500 but offered a higher price on the parts saying they are parts covered in a factory manufacturing warranty.regardless i never had symptoms of a worn fuel injector and believe the fuel injector is and was faulty and should be investigated further.the kia managers believe this is normal for cars and that they will not comply with the warranty because of the injector causing the damage.the injector is not covered in the limited 100,000 mile warranty.this happened on monday september 16, 2019 and was on a access road 5 miles away from my home.currently the car is at the dealership while i wait for the next supervisor from kia corporate call me in regards to the final offer on this repair.
During a routine oil change, my 2016 kia sorento had no oil on the dipstick. I've used synthetic oil with every change since buying the sorento new. With the engine light showing up, the error code suggests replacing the intake camshaft position sensor. Symptoms that began with the check engine light included the following: revving of rpms in park, slow acceleration when trying to cross a busy highway (it stalls), and climbing into 6k rpms when going up highway inclines (hills) at 55-60 mph. And there is still the question of "where did the oil go in the first place?" there is no external leak of engine oil.
While driving on highway we were alerted by other drivers that there was fire and smoke coming from the engine compartment. We pulled over immediately and within minutes the entire vehicle burst in fire. We contacted kia motors regarding this and they simply denied responsibly for this, deeming the cause of fire to be unrelated to faulty engine components.

While driving on the highway a person suddenly brakes in front of me driving normal speed of about 35- 55, miles per hr, , i slammed on my brakes and my suv, did not stop, i merged to left not to hit the car in front of me , god did the rest. I slumped over with my anxiety out of the roof, i realized it was smoking so i turned off, the engine,, there was grid lock traffic ahead, waited until i and it cooled down, calmly i realized there was no more smoking, drove home safely, this happened multiple times and each time, they kia dealer and kia consumer service said, there was no recall and there was no guarantee they would repair the vehicle and i was responsible for the towing and findings at this point there is no recall on my vehicle 2016 kia sorrento,please help i am on anxiety medication increase , i am afraid to drive however no one is taking responsibility through kia, as of today, i appreciate all your assistance
I drove my kia sorrento from rochester ny to oswego ny without incident.i had no car trouble nor have i in the distant past.i parked in a lot and turned off the car.smoke began to emit from under both sides of the hood.as i gathered my purse and coat, the smoke become more volumnios and dark.as left the vehicle, i inspected my dashboard for signs of overheating or a lit indicator light.nothing was light or overheated per the dash.as i exited the car, the car was on fire.a man in a car parked near me, approached the car with his fire extinguisher, aimed under the closed hood and sprayed.it did no good.as he did this, i called 911 to request a fire crew.by the time they arrived, the car was engulfed in flames.the car is a total loss, just metal charred remains.
1st problem a year ago the rear latch to door wouldn't lock and i had to use bungee cords to keep it shut. 2nd problem, the engine was knocking after i returned from a recent road trip. I took it to local (trustworthy) mechanic and they noticed metal shards in the oil pan. They refused to open the engine because it would void the warranty. I had it towed to kia of smithtown and they said it was total engine failure. I said impossible, since i have kept up with all timely oil changes and maintenance and i have the records. There was no warning light of low oil or that the engine was running hot or smoke. Dealer refused to fix and so am in dialogue with an attorney. Kia has yet to send me a bill or approximate charge for engine replacement and has held the suv for 13 days now.
The contact called on behalf of a friend who owns a 2016 kia sorento.the contact stated that while his friend was driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shuddered intermittently without warning. The vehicle was not repaired. An unnamed dealer was contacted in regard to possible recalls on the vehicle. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
While passing, sudden loss of all power. The check engine light came on. From that point on, very low power. When i got home, there was a fairly loud engine knock and oil coming from tail pipe. Took car to independent shop who diagnosed the issue as rod knock. Had the car towed to kia dealer who then said it needed a new engine. Only 82,000 miles on vehicle. Kia covered the parts and labor to replace. When the shop dropped the engine, they noticed the drive splines on both the awd transfer case and transmission were both rusted and all teeth sheared off on the fwd side of the spines. Rwd still intact. Kia would not cover neither would the extended warranty company because of the rust. That is a sealed unit with multiple rubber gaskets. How could it possibly have rusted? this is a major design flaw as there should been adequate heavy lubricant as well as sealing to prevent these parts from rusting. New transmission required $1800, and new transfer case would have been another $2500. Chose slightly used unit for $1000. It took almost 8 weeks to resolve. Now car is leaking oil on to exhaust. Back to dealer it goes...
I was driving on rt 18 (hwy)in nj, going approximately 71 mph when the engine siezed.i was able to put my hazards on and coast to the shoulder but had i just stopped, there would have been a horrific accident.the dealer service department advised that they found the oil to be a little dirty and that there were metal shavings found as well.it is my understanding that the metal shavings caused a major recall in 2014 and older kia sorento's. It appears to be the same issue as a previous recall for the 2014 and older models.
The car was stationary with the engine running, waiting for about 2 minutes when i smelled a strong exhaust smell. I began to drive, and within 30 seconds smoke started coming from under the hood. I pulled over and stopped the engine just as flames came out from the right side of the hood. In less than 5 minutes the engine was engulfed in flames. The fire fighters arrived a minute later and took quite some time to extinguish the fire. The entire engine and front of the car was burned completely. The car is totaled. We have filed a claim with our insurance and reported it to kia.
My 2016 kia sorento is having oil consumption issues. I know that you are well aware of this problem with many of the engines on several kia models. I have followed all of the instructions that kia had recommended to monitor oil levels and now kia is claiming they are no longer "honoring" that type of testing. My biggest issue is that you are aware of this horrible problem which could ultimately cause serious injury or worse yet death if one of these kias engines dies out on the highway without warning.it has not happened to me yet but i was just reading plenty of reviews about this happening.i fear for my life and pray whenever i go out and drive.please take note once again of this critical issue surrounding these vehicles. The failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to battleground kia (336-295-1542, located at 2927 battleground ave, greensboro, nc 27408) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not provided.
Driving on highway at 65 miles per hour and car suddenly lost all power and came to complete stop in heavy traffic. Vehicle restarted after 2 attempts. Took to kia dealer for inspection and there was no recorded code and they were unable to re-create issue so nothing was done. Reading other complaints of sudden stalls on this site makes driving this vehicle scary. The vehicle has only 31k miles on it and has had no other issues. Kia should be doing something before someone has a tragic accident!
My vehicle began excessively using oil, no leak in spring of 2019. Took it service once i documented my oil changes in september. No answers, wanting to do an every 1,000 miles documentation at the dealership. By december, it is giving an engine code p0014, meaning the exhaust camshaft has advanced to much to go to a lower timing. Eventually the passage become clogged and causing oil flow to the phasivers to be restricted - leading to a locked engine. The only fix, a new engine. Although i am still under power train - they request i drive the vehicle 1000 miles for testing before approving however the engine code tells us further drive will lock the engine.exactly what older models were previously recalled for.with this kia gives you no proper solution and no guarantee to cover.
In the past year my vehicle has exhibited a high consumption of oil. At present it has 92000 miles. At last check it consumed 1.7 quarts of oil in 750 miles. I have done as request by kia. They request i do an oil change at the dealer followed up by checks at 1000 miles ( 2 quarts low). At the check at 2000 miles it was again 2 quarts low. They performed what they called a combustion chamber cleaning that was again followed by a check at 1000 miles (1.1 quarts low). After the next check it was at the 1.7 quarts used in 750 miles. Although kia advertises a 10 year 100000 mile warranty they are excluding me from repair because i am the second owner. I did purchase an extended warranty for 4 years and up to 100000 total miles but i didnā€™t find the problem until march / april of this year.kia admits this was caused by soft, improperly heated rings but will not offer any assistance to alleviate the problem.do i have any recourse with kia on this and can you help?

While driving on both city streets and highways, headlights turn on in daylight (with bright sky on different times of day) and stay on while on auto with clear and unobstructed dashboard light sensors. This happens randomly and i haven't been able to determine a possible cause or find any recurring conditions that may trigger this. I took the car as well as a video of the issue to the local kia dealer (horne kia, gilbert, az) and they were unable to identify the problem. They said they tested the light sensors and they are working fine. I noticed the issue for the first time at around 15,000 miles but i didn't pay too much attention to it. At 20,000 miles, i made a video of this issue for my records (available upon request). The car has almost 40.000 miles now and the issue persists. Thanks!
While the vehicle is in motion, on both city streets and interstates, and at both low or higher speeds the vehicle's headlights, tail lights and other lighting will turn off on their own. This is extremely dangerous specifically after sunset when it is completely dark. I took the vehicle for repair at my local kia dealer for service and they said there is an "open circuit in ipm (fuse block)." i think this should be a mandatory recall to rectify the situation and make all the vehicles safe for my family, myself and for other drivers and passengers on the road who could end up in an accident due to this issue.
Kia kearny mesa, ca dealership performed a class iii trailer hitch tow packageinstallation with vin purchase that included part numbers c6061-adu00 and recalled part number c6061-adus9. The california law required electric brake controller was excluded. I completed the class iii tow package myself for ~$500.00 parts charge and used it as a legal tow vehicle with a 3000 # rv for about 5 months then experienced the trailer light sc142 failure. I replaced the sc142 recalled part number c6061-adus9 with anetrailer company part number tekonsha 118269 successfully and found out about the recall later. Iprovided the receipt of dealership installed incomplete tow package part numbers and the etrailer part installed to both the dealership and kia corporate customer care without resolve for over a year. I request the kia dealership and/or kia corporation reimburse $500.00 parts and current labor costs for neglect to install a complete class iii tow package at time of purchase and denial of reimbursement for recalled part number replacement costs.
There are numerous safety issues i have found with this car i just financed. First, at random many different lights just blow, then on my dash various warning lights will go on and off, on top of that my abs and traction control is off for no reason and so are my passenger air bags. My brakes scream somedays and are touchy others ive replaced the battery twice and only owned it 3 months. I have brand new tires yet the suspension is awful the fuel is going fast and my oil needs changing very often and it is under 100000 miles.

Car kicks when driving.oil burns out after oil change. Every week or 2 i have to put oil in. Problem still continues after kicking problem was somewhat fixed.car still kicks but not as hard today. Engine oil is still burning up quickly
The headlights go off while driving for no apparent reason. Apparently has happened for over a year. Recently my son drove the car and mentioned it and then my daughter said that it has been happening since last summer.
Steering- while driving at highway speeds the steering gets tight as if the power steering was out. When you fight to compensate it would normalize causing you to jerk the wheel. I could have easily lost control of the vehicle.lightning- while driving at night on a dark highway all the light turned off. We were completely in thdark. We pulled over and moved the switch from automatic to the manual light on position. We later moved it back to the automatic position and it was again working properly. Both problems can easily cause you to lose control of the vehicle.

No accident or any such thing has happened yet but i think something should be done about the headlights as they are too easily covered with mud while driving on wet roads. I was driving to another city 2 hours away and it got dark out and when i noticed i couldn't really see ahead of me very far and i know the headlights on this car are amazing. So i stopped and sure enough the headlights were all covered with spatter from other vehicles tires splashing the wet road up onto them. Finally after clearin the mud off of the headlights i could see again far in front of me.but not even 30 minutes later did i have to stop again to clear off the headlights so i could see in front of me.
We have experienced random events where the headlights go out for 5-10 seconds. This makes for a very scary situation for me and my family when driving in the evening and it all gets dark. We notice when the vehicle is in motion, city street or highway, we could be in the car for short amount of time or longer amount of time, warm and cold weather, wet and dry weather, haven't noticed while turning but have on straight roads, dashboard goes dark too when the headlights go out. The local kia dealership cannot replicate the issue since it is very random in nature.this has happened a number of times over the past two years.there have been no injuries due to this yet.
The vechile keeps turning off and installs when driving but now it got to the point that it turns off nd dosent want to starts until minutes later do to that one of the the headligths when off nd thye charging ports of the vechile ddont work. When u stop it seems that the truck wants to accelerate it self
Drivers side rear running lights don't work.no power going to the bulbs (bulbs are good).except brake lights and turn signals work.fuses okay.and only one of the two light sockets over the rear license plate has power and works.kia dealer claims it replaced the burned out bulb in rear license socket, but i checked within a week and no power to the socket.no fuses blown.

I purchased the car as used in 2019 and no active recalls were listed and still arent. A bout a month later i noticed my low oil pressure light was popping on and off at random intervals while driving on city and rural paved roadsi checked and engine was empty of oil. Oil was replaced and two week later the same thing. My 4th cylinder has now died . The spark plugs were replaced and it was fine for two weeks then stopped working again while i was on the highway. Replaced coil pack but this did not change anything. Upon investigation i found out the engine had been recalled but no evidence or recall was showing for this vehicle. Per website replaced engines have bright orange dip stick for the oil which this vehicle does, but all the problems associated with original recall information exists. I filed complaint with kia only to be directed to a dealership. The front left low beam has burnt out twice within 6 months as well.
Vehicle will accelerate and then lose power. Took it in they said not covered under warranty.450.00 to fix tailghts and headlights all went out within a week of each other. Wheels sensors keep saying low tires even after new tires out on.
I bought my 2016 kia sorento in 2019 since i purchased it the motor has went out in it which had to be replaced which i had to pay the warranty fee plus other cost not included in the warrenty, i have had to change my back tail light at least once a month because it keeps going out and i don't know why the transmission seems to stall when i try to accelerate it makes a noise that sounds like open air the car jumps slightly sometimes and at times it won't accelerate here recently on 2 occasions the accelerator still accelerated after i removed my foot from the pedal this scared me mainly because my kids were in the car and it seemed like it was accelerating to full capacity after tapping the pedal with my foot multiple times if finally released.
Headlights cutting off randomly while driving at night . Took to kia dealer and they said it was a faulty light switch located in the steering column . It was replaced .one week later , it happened again while wife was driving , the local dealership who did the original repair could not get it in to look at for 2 weeks .this morning wife was driving to work in the dark , when headlights went out again , this time the dash lights also went out .this is a very dangerous situation that needs to be corrected asap.
While driving down the road my headlights will occasionally go off.
Both headlamps are crystalizing in the far top corners and are continue to spread rapidly.the plastic is rough over the areas and cannot be buffed out or removed with headlamp restore products.every day this is expanding in area and will lead to headlamps notprojecting the light on to the roadway.this is happening in driveway of my home.
While driving the car at night the lights will go off. While driving the car in bright daylight the car lights will turn on. The lights are in the "auto" mode. I have video of the daylight issue but not the night. Both corporate and dealership needs to replicate the problem before they can "just change parts". What is it going to take to do a recall? someone to die at night? an accident?this issue has been going on my car @ 40,000, then 51,000 and now at 62,000 miles. They are claiming no longer a warranty item even though it has been in there dealership. There is numerous of these complaints out there, a recall of the k900 was completed for the same issue and same year vehicles.
Xenon hid headlights auto adjusting, driving down hills the low beam headlights drop sharply to about 27 ft. In front of vehicle. Drove the vehicle with the service manager, frank petrozzi of grieco kia of johnston ri and district manager, barry zoll from kia motors america 732-372-8295 at night.11/8/2017, so they could see what is happening. I feel that this is very dangerous condition. They tell me that this is the way they are supposed to work, and are working according to specifications and there is nothing that they can do to correct it. Today i received a call from mr. Trevor my case manager from kia 800-333-4542. My case # 12462124. Mr. Trevor was sorry that he can not do anything because the lights are working as specification and they do not have a solution to the problem. The new kia sxl sorento's have new headlights, but will not fit in my vehicle. I feel that this is a safety issue that kia should correct. I've seen a few reviews and complaints on how kia's (sorento's in particular) have been losing their headlights for no reason. This has also happened to me, but just on my driver side fortunately. The main bulb is not illuminating and will not come on. I changed the bulb and this did not fix the problem. I looked at the old bulb i replaced and it was fine, nothing was shot or burnt out. I have seen a couple of people saying this could be a connector problem which in fact has nothing to do with the bulb itself. Seeing that this can come up spontaneously worries me and a lot of other drivers on the road who would need to travel at night. This should be addressed by kia and be made a recall due to the fact this happens on practically newer vehicles (my mileage is 31000) i will refrain from keeping my lights on the"auto" setting (which will be a waste of money now) since the problem may occur from having the lights on this setting. I have not gotten the problem fixed due to how much it would cost (replacing the entire light fixture ~ $600) and this not covered by their warranty either (another waste of money if purchased) i will be reconsidering my choice with kia come next auto purchase.
The headlights went out while i was driving on the highway going 70 miles per hour. I was getting ready to brake and turn and was unable to see anything outside of the vehicle. The lights were off for approximately 10 seconds.

While driving at night while my headlights are in auto position they will randomly turn off for a few seconds and then click back on. This has happened twice in one week. The last time, was while driving 70 mph down the interstate and my headlights went out without warning.
My outer light bulb from the passenger side to the main lights is off. I took it to auto zone to buy a new bulb but when they checked it and moved the bulb a bit it turned on. Tech said it's not the bulb but the connector. That they're usually melting not connecting correctly. Ending frying the whole front lights. That it keeps occuring..i checked for any recalls on my vehicle and none.
I purchased a new 2016 kia sorento tow package that stated on the invoice it included a mobius part number c6061 adus9 (tow hitch harness) ā€“sorento.they part failed june 2019 and was reported to the kia kearny mesa dealership. They initiated a request for the part and it was not received to date. The kia customer care irvine center said the vehicle was not listed as having the part and therefore i was not entitled to the kia internal recall sc142. (google search c6061 adus9) their explanation was the vin didn't include the mobius part number c6061 adus9. I emailed a copy of the purchase invoice that showed otherwise. Please force kia to update their build database to include purchased options. This is the second time i have submitted this safety recall.

While entering highway vehicle would not pick up speed.engine would rev slowly.pulled over shut vehicle down and restarted it and the problem resolved. Contacted dealer and was told to bring it in.took to dealer and it had a high pressure fuel pump history code.was told that if that pump fails it would cause what i experienced.since pump was now working they couldn't replace it per kia policy.i asked again why they wouldn't just replace it if was such a safety problem and they stated they couldn't under warranty unless it failed, which would mean being stranded on the side of the road or crashed into.

While merging on to a highway, the vehicle lost propulsion, when gas pedal was pressed vehicle would not respond and accelerate.this happened while driving on a busy highway outside of boston and my wife narrowly avoided a significant crash with multiple vehicles due to the quick actions of other drivers.when vehicle was brought to dealership the issue is not on a public list of recalls but rather a known safety issue that does not show on an active recall list.we are new owners to the car and the dealership we purchased from was not a kia dealership so alerts did show on vehicle report.i feel a known issue with a safety concern this significant should be shown on a recall list, we were very lucky many people were not injured or worse.

Vehicle engine broke down on highway at 62k miles with loss of power and heavy smoke. Ultimately had to get new engine installed by the dealer but literally day after they returned the vehicle, it lost power on the road again with heavy smell of gas. Dealer said they fixed the fuel injector and o-ring but once again having same issue in sep (after minimal driving for past couple months). Vehicle still with dealer because they diagnosis issue after replacing fuel injector and gasket again.something is wrong with the v6 kia sorento engines and fuel system.

My check engine light came on back in 2018 or 19 i have since been going to the kia dealership with this issue making multiple attempts to resolve. I have had them replace oxygen sensors flushed fuel induction system and other things that they recommended. This did not resolve the issue at one point back in 2019 kia had my vehicle for over 45 days almost 60 days to return it to me without knowing what the issue is and making recommendations to replace very expensive parts. I have since taken the vehicle back for regular repairs and services. No i have come to the place where my vehicle is in need of an engine as a result of this ongoing issue that seems to be an issue with the same make and model for other individuals. I brought my 2016 kia sorento in the dealer for check engine light (code p0172). After the evaluated it, they said the fuel pump and fuel lines need to be replaced because it's leaking fuel into the engine and the engine needs an oil change because the oil is diluted with fuel. They said the fuel pump and fuel line is covered under the warranty but the oil change isn't. This fuel system issue is every similar to the recalls that were reported on january 17, 2019 but my car didn't fall under the recall. Could this be part of the recall?

2016 kia sorento-first i would like to comment on the warning lamps. I had no warnings, no lights for my oil. I checked the dip stick and it was dry. I was still good in my timeframe from my last oil change. Luckily i made it to the store to buy oil to put in it. Itā€™s now in the shop being looked at and having its oil changed. Second, my blind spot sensor goes off at times when thereā€™s not even a car near me.
The pearl white paint is chipping off the hood. It looks horrible and needs to be fixed asap! the sunroof, back latch and bsdhave all been ā€œfixedā€¯ by master mechanics but they are still not working correctly. The sunroof is slow closing and wonā€™t close all the way. The back latch wonā€™t open most of time without you getting it started. It also makes a horrible noise when it closes. The bsd doesnā€™t work at all.

No immediate response from accelerator pedal when pressed at idle with car stationary in gear. Pressing more on accelerator to get car moving causes car to then accelerate rapidly. This has happened at least six times in the past year.

My wife had the vehicle parked on a slight slope in her moms drive way maybe a 10 degree hill. She placed the vehicle in park and left it running while my daughter finished a birthday card she was making in the back seat. My wife stepped out of the vehicle to get some tissue paper out of the back with the drivers door open she pressed the rear door /hatch release or open button located on the dash. She pressed the button at that moment the vehicle came out of park and went into reverse nearly running her over she tried to get in but the vehicle took off to fast she was knocked over my daughter was in the car rolling out of control down the drive way. The vehicle followed the driveway down crossing the main road only doing some light damage where it ran over the mail box and stopped by hitting a tree. We contacted kia and our insurance. Kia opened a case #k3237787 and then they have not responded since. We took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased and left it there. We have still no answers what they are planning to do with this vehicle. This event happened on 7-25-2016. We are requesting some help due to not having a vehicle we feel is safe to park and not worrying about it coming out of gear and potentially killing someone in its path. We also would like to have our vehicle repaired andback to drive since we are paying for it.
The ecm failed engine light on engine stammering wouldn't accelerate they reprogramed ecm i drove it 22 miles engine light on slowly it will speed up won't shift correctly tech told me i had better hope the fix works, rear view mirror won't change unless you hold flash light to sensor, light through back window won't darken mirror tech tested with flash light on the sensor and told me there wasn't a problem he didn't test through back window i have complained at 2 dealerships about the mirror no repairs

I had power lose while i am driving on high way or on street where you go a little uphill. Even after they replaced engine on my 2016 kia sorento. It does not happens on the straight road, only if there is uphill.
Takata recallwhile driving my car, it completely shut off in the middle of the road. It was almost like it was out of gas but had a full tank gas. We tested the battery also. It still failed to start back. It would not start back after multiple attempts and i had to get it towed yesterday. The mechanics i had it towed to says they think it may have something to do with the engine but are unsure.

You can shift the car from park to reverse/drive without putting enough pressure on the brake peddle to actually engage the brake pads to the brake rotors. If you aren't pay attention to how hard you are pressing on the brake peddle, the call will start to move at a normal speed. I have taken the car to two kia dealerships and i have been told this is normal and safe. I feel that this is a huge safety issue. One dealership even checked other 2016 sorentos on the lot and it was the same for them as well. This happens every day.

Shifts are going into 2nd. Down shifts hard when stopping. When i say it shifts are it jerks. Typically stopped after shutting car off and restarting. Now will not stop
I'm highly disappointed in my 2016 kia sorento ex awd.just yesterday i brought the vehicle in for an oil change tire rotation and coolant flush.one of the service advisors had let me know that the vehicle is leaking oil and i'm going to need a new oil pressure switch and a new drain pan since that's where it's leaking from.for a price of $425.upon looking and scouring the internet it looks like this is a very common problem with kia and just the step before of engine failure.i don't know why nhtsa doesn't make this a standard recall considering the sportage has the same recall available.i mean it's a known fact kia engines are lacking in oil ,catching on fire and failing. I bought this car as a certified pre-owned to be rest assure with my uneasiness about buying a used car and i've been at the dealership getting repairs left and right. I'm not even at 60,000 miles and that's how ludicrous this is!granted the first person who owned the vehicle or at least it rather put 19,000 miles on it.it's already been in for service with the transmission i needed a torque converter and that was covered under the warranty thank goodness and now this oil leak from the oil pressure switch and oil pan needs to also be covered under warranty but i'm out of luck.there's thousands of complaints online about the same darn problem.

Dec 6, 2017, i was driving home and traveling about 60mph on a 2lane hwy when i felt a very severe clunk in the front area of the car and i lost the ability to accelerate. I checked the car and found nothing unordinary.i drove at decreased speed (40mph) for another 3 miles when again the car did 2 quick, heavy thumps and the engine quit along with all power and electrical.i got it over to the side of the road and the engine restarted, so i drove home.i called the kia dealer in st. Augustine and the service lady said that she had heard the exact problem twice before.i talked to the service manager and relayed what his tec had told me, then drove to their dealership (40 miles) with no problem, but fear of being on highway with the vehicle.they drove the vehicle and checked it out but found no problems i came home and read on the internet reviews of kia apparently being unwilling to deal with problems.. It became more apparent why the young lady i talked to on the phone seemed unwilling to repeat or discuss what she had told me. After consulting with several knowledgeable people, that it was probably an inadvertent down-shift and gears that caused the problem.this could cause a very dangerous and or deadly situation on the roadway, and especially on the interstate when the car just quits and you loose all power.the dealer stated "bring it directly in if it happens again."if you're traveling on the interstate with trucks, cars and busses behind you, at a high speed and it happens, you'll be lucky to survive it.... We had issues with the tpms in 2020. Took it to tempe kia on 7/30/2020.the following was done on vehicle. 1.installed 37110 h7a00u 2. Complete transmission service w/bg cleaner installed um013, kbg3020-cooling system kit, um040 antifreeze/coolant, 58101 c6a00 pad kit- front disc b, replaced air filter 28113 a9100 total amount paid $1,019.96. At that time oil was checked off as green. 11/25/2020 four new tires from costco were put on. Tpms issue came back in may of 2021 when vehicle was parked outside.we live in az so the temperatures get hot but when the tpms light come on it shuts the car down where it could not go into gear until it cooled down.moving forward to july the tpms light stayed on and the check engine light came on and vehicle began to sputter.we took it to our mechanic and he diagnosed that we needed a new engine.there was sludge build up, knock sensor codes came up, miss fires on bank 1, and internal engine noise. We had the vehicle towed to our dealer tempe kia.they concurred that a new engine would be necessary. Many codes were found p0300, p0306; p0304; p0302; p0018. Had a conversation with debby 10:00 a.m. For 55 minutes 7/20/21from kia and was told that due to lack of maintenance on the vehicle that kia would not cover this engine under warranty. We were told that our oil changes were out of the time frame that kia specifies in the owners manual that the 2016 kia sorento should have an oil change every 7,500 miles. We had oil changes every year from purchase to failure.some at 8,000 miles to 15,000 miles. There are many complaints and cases open for the 2016 kia sorento engine failure. We have a 2012 kia sorento that the engine failed but a recall was issued for finding metal shavings in the engine.we purchased a 2021 telluride in june but, moving forward we will not be purchasing anymore kia vehicles.we are truly disappointed that kia found a way out of our case and will not warranty our engine.
While passing, sudden loss of all power. The check engine light came on. From that point on, very low power. When i got home, there was a fairly loud engine knock and oil coming from tail pipe. Took car to independent shop who diagnosed the issue as rod knock. Had the car towed to kia dealer who then said it needed a new engine. Only 82,000 miles on vehicle. Kia covered the parts and labor to replace. When the shop dropped the engine, they noticed the drive splines on both the awd transfer case and transmission were both rusted and all teeth sheared off on the fwd side of the spines. Rwd still intact. Kia would not cover neither would the extended warranty company because of the rust. That is a sealed unit with multiple rubber gaskets. How could it possibly have rusted? this is a major design flaw as there should been adequate heavy lubricant as well as sealing to prevent these parts from rusting. New transmission required $1800, and new transfer case would have been another $2500. Chose slightly used unit for $1000. It took almost 8 weeks to resolve. Now car is leaking oil on to exhaust. Back to dealer it goes...
Lose of power. Mechanical put in computer. Turbo defective. Told shouldn't drive, as lose of power while driving, severe safety issue. This issue is applicable toward driver and orher vehicles and its driver/passengers on the road.
Shifter cannot be moved out of park without pushing down on the shift lock release.i must do this every time i want to go forward or backward.a reliable service center informed me this is a frequent problem with the 2016 kia sorento and he suggested a recall may be forthcoming.owners manual states that when using the release, depress the brake pedal so vehicles does not lurch forward or back.the additional step to move the car may be hazardous when attempting to get out of the way.service center isolated the problem to body control module which is expensive and oem only. This happened without warning when i parked briefly in the road adjacent to a friend's driveway. I blocked the road until i discovered how to use the release button.
Started going up a mountain highway and my car started jumping and immediately decreased speed. It would not go and kept skipping, like a stop and go type of deal. My check engine light starting flashing and i had to pull over. After i got my car towed it was found that the car had zero oil in it. Like bone dry but with zero leaks anywhere. The mechanic checked everything twice to make sure everything else was intact and it was. My oil light never came on and it never smoked or overheated. I had zero indication that the car didn't have oil. I was 900+ miles from my next oil change. It was like the oil evaporated into thin air. We are completely baffled as to what happened and why the car didn't have any oil in it. Because of no oil, a piston broke and the engine threw a rod and it is ruined. My car needs a whole new engine now. The mechanic stated that the only thing wrong with the car was no oil and that it was like it just disappeared because there was no oil residue anywhere.
Total engine failure at 50 thousand miles at highway speeds. Transmission acting funny & shifting hard in weeks prior to engine failure.

My transmission failed while driving, stopping and picking up became unsafe. I took it into a kia dealership since it became dangerous to drive. I was then told that there was a tsb sa292 patch that was intended to prevent this exact issue. Kia is only willing to cover part of the cost. I feel this issue should be a recall since it makes the vehicle dangerous to drive.

Car kicks when driving.oil burns out after oil change. Every week or 2 i have to put oil in. Problem still continues after kicking problem was somewhat fixed.car still kicks but not as hard today. Engine oil is still burning up quickly
I started experiencing overheating issues in july. Knowing kias are notorious for engine trouble, my mechanic checked the head gasket. It was fine but my radiator fan needed replaced. The very next day after having my fan replaced, my head gasket blew, driving down a state route. No warning, no check engine light, nothing. I have now had my entire engine replaced (long block, cylinder head, and gaskets). They have now discovered that my radiator is leaking, which like the radiator fan, is not covered under warranty. It seems that kia knows there is an issue with these cars and is doing nothing to recall them.
I was driving around 30 mph on a local side street and the car shut off with no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard.the dashboard went black and the car stopped running. I had to pull the car over, put it in park, turn the key to the off position.i waited a few seconds and started the car again and drove it home (~1 mile from home).i had it towed to the dealership as i did not feel it was safe to drive it there.

My vehicle started running hot after driving down the highway and kept cutting off out of the blue. Then i checked all the coolant and radiator to see if fluid was leaking no sign of a crack. Then took it to o'reillys auto parts because check engine lighr shows codes p0087, defected transmission fluid temperature sensor, defected pcm/tcm. Poor connector and the fuel rail pressure sensor. After having it towed to kia they open it up and said i needed a new engine and my head gasket was cracked. And
I had about 62,500 miles on the vehicle. We were driving down the highway and it was just blowing cold air from the heater. The vehicle started to stall and rapid decellerate. Thankfully the highway wasn't too busy and we just made it across the lanes to the shoulder; it could've been very tragic if we got stuck in a lane, especially since there was no warning with a check engine light before this. The vehicle was smoking. We got it towed to a repair shop and they confirmed it was overheating but couldn't diagnosis full engine issue. We had to get to a kia dealer to do an engine tear down. They found 6 threads stripped and decided then it needs a new engine. We've consistently done our oil changes and maintenance so is very concerning how quickly and severely this engine issue came up. Unfortunately we are just past the 60k mile warranty and kia is willing to only offer minor assistance despite evidence of other vehicles having similar engine issues.
The entire vehicle shakes on the transition from 1st to 2nd gear. It previously would only do this once at the beginning of every drive, but now it happens during every acceleration from a stop. In other words, after every stop sign or light, the suv will kick with a significant jolt as it shifts from 1st up to 2nd gear.
2016 kia sorento with 67,000 miles had flashing check engine light.car was towed to the kia dealership in which the service advisor said the fuel injector was broken which spilled fuel into the motor causing $7,800.00 of damage.the diagnosis sis not and will not determine if it is a faulty injector and kia will not participate in covering the other parts effected in the warranty.they offered a good grace assistance for $2,500 but offered a higher price on the parts saying they are parts covered in a factory manufacturing warranty.regardless i never had symptoms of a worn fuel injector and believe the fuel injector is and was faulty and should be investigated further.the kia managers believe this is normal for cars and that they will not comply with the warranty because of the injector causing the damage.the injector is not covered in the limited 100,000 mile warranty.this happened on monday september 16, 2019 and was on a access road 5 miles away from my home.currently the car is at the dealership while i wait for the next supervisor from kia corporate call me in regards to the final offer on this repair.
I purchased this vehicle from mark jackobson toyota on or about 8/20/2017. According to the recall notice in the government data base, the recall for the "rear assist arm bracket weld may break" was issued on or about 7/21/2016. I believe that the dealership that sold me this vehicle should have never let my wife drive the above vehicle off the car lot due to the potential of catastrophic failure. I would like this letter to represent my first step in filling a formal complaint with the dealership. We noticed that here was a noise on the same day that the paper work for the vehicle was signed.my wife had the dealership mechanic look at the vehicle at the same time the paper was being signed. The mechanic stated that it sounded like a bad bearing or something and instructed my wife to call the service department to schedule an appointment. The receptionist stated that the vehicle was still under a kia warranty and that we needed to go to kia. It was at the kia dealer ship that we found out about the recall. However mark jackobson produced a document that i had signed stating the recall. But i interpreted the document as meaning that the recall had been taken care, of. I believe that mark jacoson in good faith should have never had let my wife drive the vehicle off the lot. There wasn't any property damage to the vehicle as she only drove it for about a week or two prior to taking the vehicle to the kia dealership. I believe that there should be some law that would prevent a dealership from selling a vehicle and then allowing the customer to drive the vehicle off the lot knowing that there is a safety recall the had never been resolved.

I was driving on a major interstate in ga (i-75 southbound). Traffic came to a stop; i was at a complete stop when i was rear ended at 70mph by a 3500 dodge ram. I was pushed into the car in front of me which caused major damage to the front and rear of my vehicle. My driver's seat broke, not a single air bag deployed and my seat belt did not lock. This caused my face to hit the steering wheel which broke my jaw in two places, dislodged teeth and caused me to temporarily black out. My jaw required emergency surgery and i now have a plate and four screws in my jaw for the rest of my life - i'm 25 years old. Seat belt did not unlatch after crash.
I was involved in a rear end collision on friday, jan. 3, 2020. I was stopped/stationarybehind a vehicle turning left on a one lane (in both directions) road traveling south. The car behind me struck my vehicle going between 30-35 mph. My vehicle was thrust forward and hit the vehicle in front of me and then the vehicle behind me struck my again, felt like bumper cars. During the initial rear impact my face slammed into the steering wheel causing my nose to bleed profusely for at least 25 minutes. I still have blood coming out of my nose four days later. During this accident in which my vehicle experienced both front and rear collision damage my air bag did not deploy nor did my seatbelt lock. As a result i suffered a head injury both front and back of my head.
2016 kia sorento smells like vinegar or rotten spoil egg. Took it to where igot it from and they want me to pay 99.00 to air out the car.i refuse to pay that. This model has 3 rows of seats.the 3rd row is pulled to the upright position from the back hatch access door.however, there does not appear to be a logical way to get to this 3rd row of seating without physically crawling on hands and knees.what am i missing ?
When a cushion (small pillow) is used (i am a short person) on the front passenger's seat, the air bag detetecor turns off the passenger air bag leaving the passenger unprotected.i have contacted the dealer's service dept. And was told there was no work-around for this problem.i also contacted kia motors and was told the same thing..not fixable.sitting in the front passenger seat is uncomfortable for me (arm rest height, windshield visibility, etc.) without the small pillow.i cannot believe there is no way to disconnect the sensor (which i was told was weight sensitive....obviously not, because my weight is the same with or without the pillow).this leaves me without air bag protection or else uncomfortable.had i known this in advance, i would not have purchased this vehicle.not all people are the same height (i'm 5'3"...not all that short) and if kia was putting in this system, they should have made the front passenger seat height adjustable...doesn't have to be electric, just adjustable in height.it is an unsafe condition which you have no knowledge of until you read the owner's manual....a manual you don't have access to until after you've purchased the car.it needs to be corrected.

October 10, 2018drove car into driveway, shut car off, parked,went into house for about 2 mins, came back to car, it was smoking from under hood.i turned on faucet in garage, and sprayed water on car.called 911.within 2 mins, i saw first spark, left area, ran over to my sisters house, next door,on phone with 911 and within 4 mins of car smoke, burst into flames, 2 explosions.fire dept arrived with in 10 mins of smoke detection.flames higher than the house.car totaled, and house siding melted away from house.
You can shift the car from park to reverse/drive without putting enough pressure on the brake peddle to actually engage the brake pads to the brake rotors. If you aren't pay attention to how hard you are pressing on the brake peddle, the call will start to move at a normal speed. I have taken the car to two kia dealerships and i have been told this is normal and safe. I feel that this is a huge safety issue. One dealership even checked other 2016 sorentos on the lot and it was the same for them as well. This happens every day.
I was driving on the highway and when the vehicle in front of me stopped short my kia would stop i had to swerve to the side of the road to stop. I noticed smoke from the hood so i waited until it stopped and slowly moved into the already slowed traffic and went home park the vehicle and reported to kia but they continue to give me the run around and not offer repairs unless i paid for it
The abs and traction control light has been coming on and off my dashboard for a few months now.it will be on one day and then off the next or on for a few days then shut off.i looked online and seen that i am not the only one having this issue.
Kia kearny mesa, ca dealership performed a class iii trailer hitch tow packageinstallation with vin purchase that included part numbers c6061-adu00 and recalled part number c6061-adus9. The california law required electric brake controller was excluded. I completed the class iii tow package myself for ~$500.00 parts charge and used it as a legal tow vehicle with a 3000 # rv for about 5 months then experienced the trailer light sc142 failure. I replaced the sc142 recalled part number c6061-adus9 with anetrailer company part number tekonsha 118269 successfully and found out about the recall later. Iprovided the receipt of dealership installed incomplete tow package part numbers and the etrailer part installed to both the dealership and kia corporate customer care without resolve for over a year. I request the kia dealership and/or kia corporation reimburse $500.00 parts and current labor costs for neglect to install a complete class iii tow package at time of purchase and denial of reimbursement for recalled part number replacement costs.
There are numerous safety issues i have found with this car i just financed. First, at random many different lights just blow, then on my dash various warning lights will go on and off, on top of that my abs and traction control is off for no reason and so are my passenger air bags. My brakes scream somedays and are touchy others ive replaced the battery twice and only owned it 3 months. I have brand new tires yet the suspension is awful the fuel is going fast and my oil needs changing very often and it is under 100000 miles.
While driving on the highway a person suddenly brakes in front of me driving normal speed of about 35- 55, miles per hr, , i slammed on my brakes and my suv, did not stop, i merged to left not to hit the car in front of me , god did the rest. I slumped over with my anxiety out of the roof, i realized it was smoking so i turned off, the engine,, there was grid lock traffic ahead, waited until i and it cooled down, calmly i realized there was no more smoking, drove home safely, this happened multiple times and each time, they kia dealer and kia consumer service said, there was no recall and there was no guarantee they would repair the vehicle and i was responsible for the towing and findings at this point there is no recall on my vehicle 2016 kia sorrento,please help i am on anxiety medication increase , i am afraid to drive however no one is taking responsibility through kia, as of today, i appreciate all your assistance
My ac/heater fan is no longer blowing out air. In addition, while braking, the brakes have always seemed to have not been performing as it should.
I was getting over into the turn lane to the hwy the brakes locked up and i couldn't push on the brakes they were really hard to press down it was like a stone that i was trying to push on the car wouldn't stop i had two choices run into the vehicle in front of me or run over a curb full of rocks so i chose the rocks i had no brakes

The steering sticks nor matter what speed i drive. It intensives with a tighter sticking of the steering wheel when driving on the highway at 60-65. To dislodge the sticking the wheel has to be turned slightly to the right, which give me an insecure feeling of not having control over the vehicle, because the car shifts to the right slightly. At height speeds this is a horrifying feeling. I've taken the vehicle to the dealership four times now. They've done the diagnostic tests the kia corporation has suggested. Problem still exists. I've been told there has been no recall, even though there have been other persons complaining about the same problem with their vehicles .
Traction control - our vehicle has sustained two incidents involving the traction control system.the first incident involved the traction control light on the dashilluminated intermittently while the vehicle was moving.the vehicle was turned off then back on the light would go off.the dealership evaluated the problem but could not duplicate the incident.several months later, the vehicle was in motion at approximately 25-30 mph, in a residential neighborhood, in a moderate right hand turn, and the traction light came on during the turn.the vehicle became uncontrollable when the vehicle steered towards the right and forced us to strike a curb causing steering and wheel damage.the vehicle was take again to the dealership and the manufacturer was contacted.we were told the steering sensor had failed but they could not determine whether this occurred as a result of the collision or if it failed and caused the collision.the vehicle has been at the kia dealership for seven days, the engineering department responded to attempt to duplicate the problem and download data from the vehicle's computer but we have not heard the status as of the 8th day.we are concerned for obvious reasons and feel there's an issue affecting the traction control system which affects the steering.now that a collision has resulted in the failure of the system, it has been very difficult to gather information from kia and feel there may be other incidents that have been overlooked as simple collisions.no documentation has been provided by the dealership relative to either incident at this time.
When driving at highway speed (60+mph), steering "locks" and appears to be non-responsive.it is necessary to "jerk" the wheel to "wake up" the steering to complete any correction.the vehicle veers between the lines constantly due to this action which must be repeated every 10 seconds or so.it's like driving drunk!!! passengers are jerked back and forth constantly.on trips over an hour, severe elbow cramping results from the repeated motion required to maintain vehicle in the lane.in the rain, when hydroplaning on shallow puddles on the fwy, the over correction causessevere swerving when traction is returned and overcorrection has resulted from "jerking" the wheel back "awake".very dangerous!!!causes temporary loss of control and swerving into the next traffic lane.this is an accident waiting to happen.this condition started at about 25000 mi. And is getting worse now at 30000.more extreme by the week.becoming difficult to drive.dealer says everything is fine!!!
My 2016 ex turbo sorrento has a steering issue. The steering feels like it sticks or hesitates. The feeling is difficult to describe as it is not like any steering i have experienced before . It is as though something mechanical in the lower part of the assembly is hesitating or slightly jerking and not giving the correct feedback and not accepting the drivers input correctly . I know there are both electrical and mechanical systems involved in the steering and something between them is not working correctly. There are certain driving conditions when this is no doubt a safety issue , like in the rain when you are not getting the correct feedback from the steering and are are driving between 2 semi trucks at 70 mph. This issue needs to be a safety recall and fixed before there are people injured or worse from the effects of this defect. I have taken this to a kia dealer and they said the drove it and did not feel a problem. I have reported it to kia consumer affairs before the car was out of warranty and again now that it is out of warranty . This issue can be felt when driving or when stationary . To be clear , the driver has to constantly make small adjustments to keep the car driving in a straight line , and when making these adjustments the steering feels sticky so it requires extra force to move.i would like to add that other than the described steering issue this vehicle has been excellent in every way and very dependable .
Twice, the electronic power steering has stopped working at speed. Almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Kia has two service bulletins on this issue but dealer claims it cannot find the problem and will not attempt to fix it.
Steering sticks causes driver to jerk the wheel left or right while in motion happens all the time at any speed on any type of road and happens while turning or straight. . dealer stated needs whole new mdps steering column assy. This is a significant safety issue. Multiple complaints under the kia forums. Recall needs to be done asap! has been happening for 3 + years now.
While in motion the stearing wheel has a feel of resistance to directional control then seconds later a feeling of release of the resistance. This happens intermittently on straight sections of highway.
In motion,on a straight road,on the crown or not, no wind, dry pavement---the electronic steering constantly has the driver making steering corrections.it is a small correction but constant right or left. It is impossible to hold the wheel in one position and travel that lane.unlike my last sixty years of driving! more noticeable on the highway
Same problem in november 2018 and february 2019 during driving on highway a least 80 mph when i notice electric power steering was not smooth steering as jerk bumping noise on my feel hands. I tried to correct to straight the lane however it keep going moving little right and left direction. I was nervous not improper to straighten lane. It seem unsafe manner in highway !.
There is an issue with the electric steering on my car, it has a "catch" in the steering wheel, when you get it past that point you have over corrected and is dangerous. It makes it near impossible to hold your lane straight. Ive mentioned this to the car dealer ship kia many times and im simply told that it is normal for electric steering that i am not used to it. I have seen many many complaints about this exact issue with this make and model, seems no one is doing anything about it. This has nearly caused me to have an accident, just the slightest touch to correct this "catch" sends you one way or the other in your lane. It can be very dangerous and i feel no one is taking this seriously, should someone have to die before we check out a potential issue? my car has 20000 miles and has been doing this for about the last 6 months, did not happen when i first bought the vehicle.
Power steering failed while driving. Extreme difficulty to steer, dangerous situation since it happened when i was trying to turn left from the left turning lane on a freeway offramp. Was able to turn car left and change to right lane then moved to side of road.turned off car, on restart power steering returned.
My 2016 sorento (ex) has sticky steering.kia is aware of this problem and issues an upgrade to the cars computer system but it did not fix the problem.when trying to move the steering wheel, it initially sticks and requires extra force to get it to provide a steering input.once it gets past the initial resistance, it jerks the car in the direction you are trying to go which required compensation in the other direction.upon correction, it jerks the car in the opposite direction causing a continual need to correct the steering wheel to keep the car straight and causing the car to not be able to maintain perfectly straight travel.on large sweeping corners, this problem is even more pronounced and feels dangerous.my car is out of its bumper to bumper warranty and despite me having the car into kia dealerships twice while in warranty and the original computer "fix" not working, kia is not guaranteeing that when i bring the car back that it will be fixed under warranty.the fix for the problem is replacing the steering rack or other steering components.the sticking issue is intermittent but when it is acting up it can be felt while stationary and in motion.this intermittent issue started around 30,000 miles and continues through 70,000 miles.i believe a recall should occur to correct this potentially serious safety issue.

Progressing problem with power steering failure since 05/2020. This month was more frequent occurrences. When driving straight and steady power steering stiffens and losses power, red warning light steering lights which forces the driver to steer hard limiting short turns. Almost got into accident multiple times. Must restart engine in order to restart steering function.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,280. Consumer stated no suspension problem- could not determine the problem, it seems to be unclear. Repair and service personnel seem to think it is the tires or steering. There has been at least 7 complaints regarding steering problems.

I have had 4 situations where when my car is started, the dashboard warning lights vome on. On two of these 4 occasions, when i attepted to shift from park, i could not and the power locks started malfunctioning. All times the car was stationary. The dashboard reads check tpms system. The kia dealership cannot duplicate the problem so believe since they cannot duplicate the problem, there is no problem. O have provided them with the photos and video of the incidents.
Steering- while driving at highway speeds the steering gets tight as if the power steering was out. When you fight to compensate it would normalize causing you to jerk the wheel. I could have easily lost control of the vehicle.lightning- while driving at night on a dark highway all the light turned off. We were completely in thdark. We pulled over and moved the switch from automatic to the manual light on position. We later moved it back to the automatic position and it was again working properly. Well let me say this they got over on me once already telling me i had to turn a claim in on the fuel pipe, and under carriage parts that i now realize was all a lie and should have been covered because kia knew about all those parts being dangerous and still stood by the 'it had to me hitting something under car' .. It's now all surfaced via class action law suit and they still refuse to take car of my drive problem!they will not get me again and i am so frustrated that i just want them to take the car back!i'll never own another kia after this!previously purchased two brand new vehicles from them over 35,000 a car and they can't seem to find it reasonable to make car drive without a screw driver!fed up!
Steering has a "catch" or "stickiness" at center.causes over correcting at highway speed.the higher the speed, this stickiness increases.unable to maintain steady lane position.
While traveling at highway speeds, the sorento constantly sways back and forth.it is extremely difficult to keep the vehicle traveling in a straight line.i took the vehicle in for this concern and they said the tire air pressure was too high, so they released some of the nitrogen from all 4 tires.i took the vehicle out again a week later on a trip and there was no change.i asked the dealer and they admitted that some of their other kia models have this same complaint by their owners and there is nothing kia can do.this is a serious safety concern.

The steering sticks at times. Its not smooth and i have to put extra pressure on the steering wheel to get the steering to turn. This occurs when driving mostly on the highway.
Cannot keep vehicle going in straight line without making constant minor adjustments. Sometimes, the steering does not respond immediately to the adjustments causing the vehicle to wander dangerously close to the center line or the side of the road. It will also over correct at times causing the driver to make a more drastic correction. Due to the lack of response (intermittent), my fear is that it will fail to respond at all. I took it to the selling dealer and, after a very short drive, they said "no problem found." we bought this car with 20,000 miles and it now has 60,000. This problem has persisted since we bought it.

My kia was bought 1/2016 and since then my steering column has had to be replaced 3 times, cadillac converter once, and my car is now ready after 23 days because of a motor leak that had cracked the block. Everyone of these have been defects that kia has covered and yet i can't seem to get anyone from the escalations department to talk to me about a buyback or getting me into another car. It had 5 miles on it when i bought it and now is around 80,000.
The problem started around 50k miles and has become progressively worse. The problem is a sticky feeling in the steering. When making very small corrections it is like the power steering is turned off. Gentle pressure does not turn the wheel at all. As more and more pressure is applied, it is like the power steering suddenly turns on. This causes the vehicle to swerve due to over correction.the process repeats as you correct back the other direction. In fact, in a gentle turn on the highway you can let go of the wheel and the vehicle will continue to turn,the wheel never returning to center without intervening. Ultimately, the vehicle is incredibly hard to control, and i must look like a drunk swerving back and fourth in the lane. This is very dangerous especially on mountain roads or in high winds, ice, and snow.it is more noticeable on the highway, but it does it on city streets too, and i can feel that it is happening even whenthe vehicle is at a full stop. It was intermittent at first, but now it is dang near constant starting since about 75k. I opened a safety complaint with kia. Based on what i have read here and on blogs, kia is aware of the problem. There are 18 complaints of the same thing for the 2016 sorento here on nhtsa and the 2017 sorenta has 89! the fix is several thousand dollars, so if the vehicle is out of warranty like mine, most people will have a hard time affording the fix. Kia needs to issue a recall before someone is injured or killed. I am documenting this here so that when it is me or my wife who dies, there is evidence of kia's negligence.i could make a video of the wheel not returning to center on the highway as evidence, but the file size and format would not work here.

During normal vehicle operation, both on the highway and city streets, the vehicle would suddenly lose power steering and the power steering warning light will illuminate. This happened several times randomly without warning, steering was normal and there were no audible noises when steering prior to power steering failure. Putting the vehicle in park, turning off and restarting the car fixed the problem a few times, sometimes for a few days between occurences. Eventually power steering was lost for good and needed to be taken to a mechanic for repairs. There were a few close calls losing power steering in the middle of turns that nearly led to accidents.

I'm not sure i've had my vehicle serviced but nobody seems to know the problem. Every since my headlight was replaced my electrical system has been wacky. All of my doors keep locking and unlocking on its own. When i try to accelerate my vehicle seems to be more stagnant as if it's no longer increasing speed and the steering wheel does not appear to be in alignment with my tires when turning. My son has never been able to open the door while in motion but since the locks have started clicking there's been some close calls.

I noticed around 48,000 miles that after driving for 30+ minutes or on and off driving for 45+ minutes, my steering becomes "sticky"/"notched" when it is centered and i am driving 35 mph or more. It becomes much more pronounced when on a flat, straight surface and i am driving 60+ mph.this makes minor corrections hard to do when driving to stay in my lane as the vehicle seems to require significant pressure to turn right or left. This ends up becoming a series of constant corrections from inadvertently oversteering. This is very fatigue inducing and can be frustrating, even when i am very well rested and alert. I'm concerned it'll affect other drivers as they may drive erratically when passing as they match my steering corrections.my local kia dealership has been very helpful and receieved permission to remedy it under warranty and will replace the entire steering column and associated parts. Currently the steering column is on backorder and has been for at least three weeks. When driving the steering has resistance and can pull the car in a different direction than what you are trying to do. Then it will free up and you have more control. Also you can be turning the steering wheel and the wheels are hardly moving in the direction you are turning them to.

My wife had the vehicle parked on a slight slope in her moms drive way maybe a 10 degree hill. She placed the vehicle in park and left it running while my daughter finished a birthday card she was making in the back seat. My wife stepped out of the vehicle to get some tissue paper out of the back with the drivers door open she pressed the rear door /hatch release or open button located on the dash. She pressed the button at that moment the vehicle came out of park and went into reverse nearly running her over she tried to get in but the vehicle took off to fast she was knocked over my daughter was in the car rolling out of control down the drive way. The vehicle followed the driveway down crossing the main road only doing some light damage where it ran over the mail box and stopped by hitting a tree. We contacted kia and our insurance. Kia opened a case #k3237787 and then they have not responded since. We took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased and left it there. We have still no answers what they are planning to do with this vehicle. This event happened on 7-25-2016. We are requesting some help due to not having a vehicle we feel is safe to park and not worrying about it coming out of gear and potentially killing someone in its path. We also would like to have our vehicle repaired andback to drive since we are paying for it.
Takata recallrented car from budget. Exited car and the bottom corner of the driver's side door caught my leg producing a large gash immediately. Upon inspection it was clear that there was a very sharp plastic material at the bottom corner of the driver's side door. The vehicle was parked in a lot.
Rear power lift gate door are not working properly. Doors not opening when trying to open using key fob, inside button or rear on door button car is parked and not moving. Doors trying to open but giving up and staying closed. I found that this is a problem with that mechanism and numerous owners has same problem and complaining about it on many forums and car dealers web pages. My car was at the dealer and he recommended to change latch assembly not covered by warranty.
Rear tailgate latch will not lock, the actuator has stop working. I hear the clicking but nothing moves.i called the dealer and of cause no information that this exists or has happen to anyone else, why because they want you bring it in to then charge the customer $450.00 parts and labor. The front passenger side door handle does not open after using the key fob to unlock the door or using the key to unlock the door. After using the key fob, you must use great force to open the door and close it securely. When this vehicle was purchased, we were told that a recall had been completed to correct this safety issue, however i doubt that.once a door is unlocked it should not take great force to open it. My fear is that while driving this door may disengage and open while in transit.this has been an ongoing problem since this vehicle was purchased & the dealer is clueless as to how to address/correct the problem.

I was driving on a major interstate in ga (i-75 southbound). Traffic came to a stop; i was at a complete stop when i was rear ended at 70mph by a 3500 dodge ram. I was pushed into the car in front of me which caused major damage to the front and rear of my vehicle. My driver's seat broke, not a single air bag deployed and my seat belt did not lock. When opening the (front passenger & driver) doors from outside, door does not open each time when handle is pulled. When door is opened from the inside, door does not properly latch, thus, operator cannot secure the door to close or lock vehicle. Cannot secure occupant safely inside vehicle for operation. (march 2016) had to rig front passenger door with seatbelt to keep door closed on highway. (april 2016) once front passenger door handle & latch was replaced, same issue occurred on driver side.

I have owned this car for one year. The lamination and paint are bubbling up for no reason. I take good care of this car and it is not old enough that the paint should be failing. I believe the kia paint is defective. The paint is bubbling up on the rear hatch and roof, as well as on the driver's side passenger door. I found numerous accounts of this happening to other kia owners for no reason, and found out that there are class action lawsuits for kia paint defects.

The passenger door does not open from the exterior. This a serious safety issue if one needs to get into vehicle immediately. The door does open from the interior. This is a common complaint on message boards at www.cargurus.com. I will submit a 'repair invoice later as the sorento is in the dealership now getting this repaired. I stared having this issue in april 2020 and it progressed until it was a total failure by august 2020

Traveling at highway speed, the windshield seemed to have suffered a stress crack starting in the lower corner of the passenger side (about 1- 2" from the side), and spread to the middle of the windshield (about half way up). The windshield was not impacted by anything, nor did the vehicle hit any large and/or sudden bumps in the road.

Sparks coming from battery box, lights in dash go off and on can not acceleration and back axle is loose. I bought this used in dothan kia last yr. The car just went down past 2 months. Can't drive my expensive car
My car begin shaking while driving 70mph on the interstate. I replaced all 4 tires the prior month. I made it home to find the inside of my new rear tires were completed ruined with the wires sticking out.
On 3/21/19 i was driving through a ez pass toll plaza. I heard a very loud sound almost like an explosion coming from the front passenger side of the car. My car started to vibrate. I pulled to the side to check out the car. I thought my tire blew. There nothing wrong with the tires. There was nothingaround or in the lane of the toll plaza. I could not identify the reason for the sound. I did smell an odd order in the car. I was able to drive the car without any further problem. A few weeks later i heard a squeaking sounds when driving. Recently i took the car to kia and was accused of the car being in an accident. I explained to them the incident and stated that the car was never in an accident. I was advised by kia to contact my insurance company to repair the issues.
Since i've bought the car motor was burning oil, mechanic said the motors where junk and since i have to change my oil once a month and it still continues to burn oil . My oil light has not worked since we bought it, i will add. Also sometimes my car stalls and doesn't want to start or is delayed. Now the check engine light come on and throws the code p0014. I have taken it in for 3 recalls already and now they won't fix anything since motor is over 60,000 miles but when we call ed before hand to get it fixed they said they needed so many consecutive oil changes and records before they did anything now it's not under warranty convienetiy. I will never own another kia i have never had so many issues.

The drivers door will not open from the outside. When inside vechile i can push the unlock button on my door and key fob but the lock will not unlock. The button for the drivers window button isn't working properly either the driver window button stays slightly up like it's out if place this happened the same moment that the drivers door wouldn't unlock. I can open it with the inside handle when i exit the vehicle. The vehicle was parked in my driveway when this first happened.

I purchased this vehicle from mark jackobson toyota on or about 8/20/2017. According to the recall notice in the government data base, the recall for the "rear assist arm bracket weld may break" was issued on or about 7/21/2016. I believe that the dealership that sold me this vehicle should have never let my wife drive the above vehicle off the car lot due to the potential of catastrophic failure. I would like this letter to represent my first step in filling a formal complaint with the dealership. We noticed that here was a noise on the same day that the paper work for the vehicle was signed.my wife had the dealership mechanic look at the vehicle at the same time the paper was being signed. The mechanic stated that it sounded like a bad bearing or something and instructed my wife to call the service department to schedule an appointment. The receptionist stated that the vehicle was still under a kia warranty and that we needed to go to kia. It was at the kia dealer ship that we found out about the recall. However mark jackobson produced a document that i had signed stating the recall. But i interpreted the document as meaning that the recall had been taken care, of. I believe that mark jacoson in good faith should have never had let my wife drive the vehicle off the lot. There wasn't any property damage to the vehicle as she only drove it for about a week or two prior to taking the vehicle to the kia dealership. I believe that there should be some law that would prevent a dealership from selling a vehicle and then allowing the customer to drive the vehicle off the lot knowing that there is a safety recall the had never been resolved.
Panoramic sunroof malfunctioned a third time.the first two times they stated it was fixed but this third time they decided to say my car was somehow vandalized causing the sunroof not to function properly.so that means they won't fix it anymore.sounds like a number of people have had problems with the same sunroof.if someone vandalized my car why would they stand on my sunroof to just vandalize it?sunroof will open but will sometimes close or not at all.thanks for listening.
The driver's side rear exterior door handle fell off in my hand. In the event of an emergency, this prevents me from accessing the backseat without going to the opposite side of the vehicle. Upon a google search, there are countless others who have experienced this same issue. I have contacted my local kia dealership to have this replaced, pending the part is in stock.

I was driving on the interstate home from work and heard a popping sound and then a sudden explosion coming from the top of my car. When i stopped and checked the roof i found that my moonroof had a huge hole in it and the glass was shattered in the first panel. I saw nothing kicked up from any vehicles when i was driving and unless a meteor hit my car there was no evidence of anything being dropped on it while i was driving. I feel like the moonroof just shattered. It was a hot day but there was no changes in temperature that were dramatic.

The pearl white paint is chipping off the hood. It looks horrible and needs to be fixed asap! the sunroof, back latch and bsdhave all been ā€œfixedā€¯ by master mechanics but they are still not working correctly. The sunroof is slow closing and wonā€™t close all the way. The back latch wonā€™t open most of time without you getting it started. It also makes a horrible noise when it closes. The bsd doesnā€™t work at all.
While travel in right most lane north on 15 in jefferson township, nj, i heard a loud bang from car. Immediately all power was lost. Given road had no shoulder, i stop the car in the travel lane. Turned car off then tried to restart. All dash lights light up included check engine and check oil. Smoke started appearing from engine bay. I turned ignition off, griped cell phone and exited the vehicle. I grabbed my construction vest from the truck. Vehicle was still smoking. Opened driver side door and hit hood release to check for visual damage. Under the hood there was no visual damage but smoke was still coming from undercarriage. I moved a safe distance from road/vehicle and called police station to provided notice of disabled vehicle in travel lane. While on the phone with police fire started from the undercarriage. Notified police to send fire. Fire arrived within 5 minutes. However, vehicle was already completely engulfed in flames. We are second owners of a 2016 kia sorrento. Dec 6, 2017, i was driving home and traveling about 60mph on a 2lane hwy when i felt a very severe clunk in the front area of the car and i lost the ability to accelerate. I checked the car and found nothing unordinary.i drove at decreased speed (40mph) for another 3 miles when again the car did 2 quick, heavy thumps and the engine quit along with all power and electrical.i got it over to the side of the road and the engine restarted, so i drove home.i called the kia dealer in st. Augustine and the service lady said that she had heard the exact problem twice before.i talked to the service manager and relayed what his tec had told me, then drove to their dealership (40 miles) with no problem, but fear of being on highway with the vehicle.they drove the vehicle and checked it out but found no problems i came home and read on the internet reviews of kia apparently being unwilling to deal with problems.. It became more apparent why the young lady i talked to on the phone seemed unwilling to repeat or discuss what she had told me. After consulting with several knowledgeable people, that it was probably an inadvertent down-shift and gears that caused the problem.this could cause a very dangerous and or deadly situation on the roadway, and especially on the interstate when the car just quits and you loose all power.the dealer stated "bring it directly in if it happens again."if you're traveling on the interstate with trucks, cars and busses behind you, at a high speed and it happens, you'll be lucky to survive it.... Excessive heat has caused the trunk latch to fail. It suddenly stopped latching, which creates an obvious safety issue as the car cannot be driven safely with a trunk that flops open every time you accelerate.

For about a week my car had a terrible smell of fumes, nor air or heat. It then started over heating. I parked it and had it towed go the dealer. It was still under warranty and we were told it was a head gasket issue. Then they tried moving the car and the entire engine blew. This morning 5/8/19, while driving to work, the sunroof in my 2016 kia sorento exploded while i was driving on the freeway. I was covered in glass along with the inside of my car. I have always had my car serviced regularly for oil changes. Starting in july 2021 my mechanic told me that i was extremely ā€œdangerouslyā€¯ low in oil, without low oil warning ever turning on. Researched and saw this is a common problem leading to engine failure/ needing replacement. Called local kia dealership about the issue was told to come in for an oil consumption test, left today and was told oil consumption is not covered in the extended coverage for my engine. I was basically told in order for the repairs to be covered my engine would have to blow up while driving. So every day iā€™m putting my self and others at risk while driving for my engine to fail at any given time. After seeing other complaints on this site of very similar problems, why has there not been a recall on this engine? it is obviously a very well known problem!! why am i like a sitting duck every time i drive praying my engine doesnā€™t blow? kia dealership told me they have a $500 fix that ā€œmightā€¯ work but with no guarantee and no refund will be given if it doesnā€™t work.

Had vehicle towed to dealership. Failed hydrocarbon test, meaning seal between combustion and coolant compromised. Many complaints online regarding stripped threads in engine block causing bolts to loosen and and seal to fail. Kia is aware of issue and fixes or replaces engine for original owners. Company is knowingly defrauding the public by not issuing service bulletin or recall to original owners to have problem corrected before subsequent ownership. Subsequent owners are left with a $7000 liability on the purchase of a used $15,000-25,000 car, along with an uneasy feeling the same thing may happen to the replacement engine.i am starting a class action law suit in indiana.
The sunroof exploded while driving on the highway
The vehicle while traveling at various speeds will violently and suddenly try to momentarily move either left or right from its normalstraight ahead forward moving position. The movement is much like when a car experiences a very strong gust of wind from the side when traveling at higher speeds, except in these cases there is no outside forces involved. These events seem to be random when they occur with no braking or human movement to the steering wheel in any way. The effect of the event causes the vehicle to move out of thenormal straight line forward travel lane suddenland without any advance notice, which is a very scary and unsafe situation. The event discribed happens can occur at mid to higherspeeds and on all types of streets, but is most dangerous when it occurs at the higher speeds or in inter city close contact areas.
When the ignition is started with the car in park, the vehicle vibrates really hard as if it wants to cut off. This has occurred with 3/4 tank of gas and 1/4 tank of gas.with the vehicle vibrating, the car is placed in "d" drive and the foot is applied to the accelerator for acceleration but the vehicle does not move.the vehicle is then placed back into "p" park and the vehicle continues to vibrate until it shuts off.this issue has been report to dean mccrary kia in mobile, al on several occasions and i was told if the vehicle does not have a code when it is brought into service there is nothing they can do.i did explain that when the issue occurs it only last for a few minutes then the vehicle runs ok until the issue occurs again.
Not sure !!! we were on the interstate and all of sudden smokestarting coming out of rear end of our vehicle.our carstarted sounding slow and not sounding good, it wasme and my husband in the car. Driver door will not unlock or open from the outside. You can only o po on the door from the inside then when hitting the lock or unlock on key fobyou hear a click, click, click noise.

2016 kia sorento smells like vinegar or rotten spoil egg. Took it to where igot it from and they want me to pay 99.00 to air out the car.i refuse to pay that. My car has been in motion multiple times recently on the highway. Once i was getting ready to merge and was slowing down when my vehicle started accelerating on its own and making a revving sound. This has also happened on city streets. It does not happen all the time.

Takata recall 1 month ago i picked my son up from school...as i was pulling out of the parking lot i was unable to accelerate by pushing the gas pedal. I coasted home going 8 miles per hour. I turned the vehicle off and let it sit for 2 days. When i got back in it everything was working fine. 2 weeks later i went to have my oil changed and was told there were metal shavings in my oil filter, there were 2 inches of sludge and the oil was black. I keep my vehicle serviced regularly because i commute to work. They changed my oil and i left. 10 minutes later i was on the side of the road. I was driving to the store and again i couldn't push the gas pedal to accelerate and a knocking sound appeared. As i tried to pull to the side of the road i look in my rear view mirror to see a white cloud of smoke coming from my car. So thick i couldn't see behind me. I coasted into a parking lot and at this point i had no control of the steering, gas pedal, or breaks. I finally rolled to a stop outnit in park and got out of my car. Every drop of oil they had put in my car was on the pavement. I called a tow truck and we found a huge hole in the oil pan where my engine had apparently thrown a rod. There are 6 recalls on the year make and model of my car but not specifically on my vin. Everything that has gone wrong involves those recalls and kia isn't owning up to it. My brother works for true car and ran a report finding that there are recalls on my vehicle but kia is saying it is inaccurate. I have the report in my possession and they wouldn't allow me to send it to them for proof.

While driving on the highway a person suddenly brakes in front of me driving normal speed of about 35- 55, miles per hr, , i slammed on my brakes and my suv, did not stop, i merged to left not to hit the car in front of me , god did the rest. I slumped over with my anxiety out of the roof, i realized it was smoking so i turned off, the engine,, there was grid lock traffic ahead, waited until i and it cooled down, calmly i realized there was no more smoking, drove home safely, this happened multiple times and each time, they kia dealer and kia consumer service said, there was no recall and there was no guarantee they would repair the vehicle and i was responsible for the towing and findings at this point there is no recall on my vehicle 2016 kia sorrento,please help i am on anxiety medication increase , i am afraid to drive however no one is taking responsibility through kia, as of today, i appreciate all your assistance
I was driving around 30 mph on a local side street and the car shut off with no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard.the dashboard went black and the car stopped running. I had to pull the car over, put it in park, turn the key to the off position.i waited a few seconds and started the car again and drove it home (~1 mile from home).i had it towed to the dealership as i did not feel it was safe to drive it there.
Vehicle fails to accelerate properly, especially when accelerating rapidly. Vehicle exhibits exact same problems as innhtsa recall # 15v-089 and manufacturer recall #sc115.the manufacture date for the automobile on the door sticker is february 16, 2015 -- which is not in the original recall dates for the above mentioned recalls.
The kia sorento 2016 my family and were driving and the car went into "limp mode" on a busy street.we nearly has an accident.it was towed to the dealer.the dealer did not know why it occurred.they said they secured the wiring and returned the car to us.approximately a week later the car went into "limp mode" again on another busy road again putting us in danger of having an accident.it was towed to the dealer.they said that they then replaced the throttle.we are not confident it will not occur again.
Takata recallwhile driving my car, it completely shut off in the middle of the road. It was almost like it was out of gas but had a full tank gas. We tested the battery also. It still failed to start back. It would not start back after multiple attempts and i had to get it towed yesterday. The mechanics i had it towed to says they think it may have something to do with the engine but are unsure.

While coming to a stop with the brake pedal engaged the engine started to accelerate. I stood on the brake but the car kept creeping forward. I threw the shifter into nuetral and then into park. The engine quit accelerating and every thing worked as it was suppose too. I came within a couple of inches of the car infront of me.

The engine idles at 1500 rpm at all times, once the idles drops to normal as you are driving the idle jumps back up to 1500 rpm. Sometimes if you turn engine off then on again the idle goes back to normal ,then it will go back to 1500 rpm .
I bought my 2016 kia sorento in 2019 since i purchased it the motor has went out in it which had to be replaced which i had to pay the warranty fee plus other cost not included in the warrenty, i have had to change my back tail light at least once a month because it keeps going out and i don't know why the transmission seems to stall when i try to accelerate it makes a noise that sounds like open air the car jumps slightly sometimes and at times it won't accelerate here recently on 2 occasions the accelerator still accelerated after i removed my foot from the pedal this scared me mainly because my kids were in the car and it seemed like it was accelerating to full capacity after tapping the pedal with my foot multiple times if finally released.

After stopping at a stop sign and starting to enter the highway i lost accelerated power. It did accelerate but very slowly. The car got up to about 20mph. No matter how hard i pressed the gas petal it didn't cause the car to accelerate. This can have been a very danger situation.
I took my 2016 kia sorento in 2mos (3/16) after i purchased for acceleration issues. The first time it was lunging when accelerating and the rpm's would go to 5-6 then drop to 0, then stabilize at 2. Kia did some re-computer program to address issue.it is still not resolved but was not as bad after the re-programing. Well, now it is really bad so took it back (4/17) because it stalls on acceleration. I was trying to enter a highway, accelerated kia stalled again rpm's up to 5-6down to 0, but had to quickly move to shoulder or semi-truck would have hit me. Once i stopped and started again, it accelerated.yesterday, 4/5/17, driving to work in rush hour traffic on nj e. I-78, was in middle lane merged to left lane to pass (60 mph), accelerated kia stalled (rpms up then down), i had to brake to indicate to car behind me or i would have been in a horrific crash because this roadway carries a massive amount of semi's.i was scared for my life and my heart was racing!!i was able to move back to center lane where i remained.the kia kept having the acceleration issue all the way to work and on the way home so i took it to the kia dealer.i don't know if they can replicate the issue but i am not driving this vehicle until it is resolved.i see on line there are numerous others with this same issue and no recall??!!i guess someone has to die first.nhtsa you need to do something before someone losses their life.this is not some small problem.kia certainly is not interested in being pro-active.the service and sales people said "we have never heard of this issue" my reply "you better look on line at consumer complaints".of course they wanted to usher me out of the showroom to a "quiet table" so other prospective buyers won't hear.word of mouth my friends, word of mouth. It was cold outside and went to get in the parked car in the morning and the back windshield shattered when i closed the driver side door.
Sometimes while driving at night with my lights in the auto position, they will turn off for about 5 seconds before coming back on. This is very dangerous and has happened to me while on a dark highway before.
2016 kia sorento v6 lx fwd automatic -- one day, suddenly, the wiper fluid leaked almost the entire tank on our garage floor immediately after filling. No other small leaks were noticed before this major fail. I found kia blogs in abundance and a large number of youtube videos reporting the same issue. There was even speculation in several kia forums that the problem was so prevalent kia should, at a minimum, publish a service bulletin, and some urged for a bona fide recall. I checked the point offailure as suggested in several videos and blogs, and indeed it was a crack in the washer pump mechanism, apparently around the white bulbous piece that bifurcates on opposite sides where rubber tubes are attached to plastic protrusions, and from there the fluid is dispensed to each of two nozzles near the base of the windshield that release the fluid on demand.
While driving at night while my headlights are in auto position they will randomly turn off for a few seconds and then click back on. This has happened twice in one week. The last time, was while driving 70 mph down the interstate and my headlights went out without warning.
The ecm failed engine light on engine stammering wouldn't accelerate they reprogramed ecm i drove it 22 miles engine light on slowly it will speed up won't shift correctly tech told me i had better hope the fix works, rear view mirror won't change unless you hold flash light to sensor, light through back window won't darken mirror tech tested with flash light on the sensor and told me there wasn't a problem he didn't test through back window i have complained at 2 dealerships about the mirror no repairs
While driving the panoramic sunroof imploded suddenly with out warning or being struck by anything. My husband wasn't driving at a high rate of speed or under bad weather conditions other than basic rain, luckily our inner sun shade had been closed or the glass which completely shattered could have fell on top of my self and our 3 year old daughter possibly injuring us greatly as we were sitting in the rear seats directly under itwhen the even occur.
My rear window shattered for what appears to be no reason at all.my vehicle was parked on the street, and when i went out to leave, i noticed my window was cracked.by day 2, the glass was caving, and had a hole the size of a quarter in the middle.

I've seen a few reviews and complaints on how kia's (sorento's in particular) have been losing their headlights for no reason. This has also happened to me, but just on my driver side fortunately. The main bulb is not illuminating and will not come on. I changed the bulb and this did not fix the problem. I looked at the old bulb i replaced and it was fine, nothing was shot or burnt out. I have seen a couple of people saying this could be a connector problem which in fact has nothing to do with the bulb itself. Seeing that this can come up spontaneously worries me and a lot of other drivers on the road who would need to travel at night. This should be addressed by kia and be made a recall due to the fact this happens on practically newer vehicles (my mileage is 31000) i will refrain from keeping my lights on the"auto" setting (which will be a waste of money now) since the problem may occur from having the lights on this setting. I have not gotten the problem fixed due to how much it would cost (replacing the entire light fixture ~ $600) and this not covered by their warranty either (another waste of money if purchased) i will be reconsidering my choice with kia come next auto purchase.

[xxx] 2016 kia sorento (vin # [xxx]) sunroof exploded while on interstate 55 northbound in jackson, ms on 10-21-15 at approx. 8:30pm cst with no traffic or obstructions or overheads. Our mileage at the time was less than 200 miles. [xxx]was driving and i was the front passenger. The roof was closed as was the cloth shield (which probably save our life). The explosion was violent like an m-80 going off. We collected some of the glass shards (which shattered into little sharp pieces which would have probably killed us) and chunks of glass on top of the shield. At the time, we were about 900 miles from home and found a tool store, purchased duct tape and taped the remaining moon roof (see pictures) to get us on the road home. Luckily, there was no rain on our remaining journey. As we are driving down a freeway, the panoramic sunroof exploded with a loud pop and glass fell onto us.it was alarming and our attention was diverted from driving to trying to figure out what happened.we made our way to the edge of the road and stopped.we looked for a rock etc, but did not find anything.the remaining glass on the sunroof looked like it was blown from the inside out. From researching online it appears that this has been happening for years. The weather was clear and in the mid-60s with the interior temperature in the 68 range.this is a huge safety issue!
Abnormal tire wear. Chunks of tread missing from two front tires.i am original owner of vehicle. As instructed by dealer, vehicle serviced on 5/19/17 at 15,345 miles.service includes tire rotation and alignment. Multipoint inspection reveals tires at 7 lf 7 rf 8 lr 8 rr, brakes front 7 & 7, rear 8 & 8. On 9/18/17, at 17,972 miles, vehicle presented to dealer for recall replacement of front door handles. During this visit, vehicle inspection reveals two front tires wearing abnormally.multi point inspections reveals 6 lf 6 rf 6 lr 6 rr.front brakes 8 & 8, rear brakes 7 1/2 & 7 1/2. Service adviser suggest alignment.service adviser reports vehicle alignment only needed minor adjustment, not significant to produce the wear and apparent loss of tread presenting on two front tires.service adviser makes inquires on any extreme driving conditions including extensive driving on gravel roads or extreme stopping.as the sole driver of vehicle i can attest that vehicle has not been placed in any extreme driving situation. Vehicle driven approximately 650 miles per month. Dealer service adviser states he has never seen this in 20 years.he explains that at the next oil change, vehicle mileage at around 20,000 miles, tires will be checked and then rotated at the next scheduled time.the multi point inspection documentation does not denote any abnormal tire wear..all systems checked green on dealer documentation.photos of front tires attached.
My 2016 had approximately 40,000 miles when it developed a shimmy on the highway.after inspection at sullivan tire, an authorized kumho dealer it was determined that 2 of my original equipment kumho krugen 235/55/19 tires were out of round and unbalanceable.all 4 tires had 6-7 32nd's of wear left.it was recommended i replace all.i replace all 4 tires and one of the replacement tires is out of round and unbalanceable.3 out of 8 kumho krugen tires have manufacture defects.
All 4 tires on 2016 kia sorento are dry rotting at very fast pace. The tires are michel8n premier ltx 235 55/r19 m&s which should last 60,000 miles. I am at 39,600 at current time. Dry rot is very apparent on each tire. I bought this vehicle brand new w tires as noted on it at kia dealership in newport news va in 2016.
The tire sticker at the side of the driver door does not state what the required load and speed index should be for the tire. The manual does not have any information on the load index, and has a vague speed index chart (rating letter vs. Speed) referring to passenger vehicles in general but no mention of this particular vehicle.
Unusually rapid tire wear on front tires is going to require the 2nd replacement of all 4 tires within a 13 month period covering a total of 16,440 miles. The vset ofehicle was purchased used with new set of tires in 9/2018 (22,205 mi), by 3/2019, (31,648 mi) two tires were bald and required replacement of all 4 tires as car has all-wheel-drive.. Again, by 10/14/2019 (38.650 mi) two tires are down to < 2/32nds (safety nubs) requiringthe 2nd replacement of all 4 tires within a 13 month period. All tires have been per kia specifications and speed rating (23560r18 103h). In all cases the tires have worn evenly and no alignment problems or subject to unusual driving conditions or use. Tires are rotated every 5,000 mi..mechanics consulted have not seen this unusual wear rate and acknowledge the even wear pattern and no alignment problem. Appears something is drastically wrong with the vehicle versus the tires.
