This kia was rented from enterprise due to my car being in the shop.i found steering problems with this car as with the braking system already which i found odd as this is supposedly a brand new vehicle.not only that it races intermittently sometimes more than 10 miles or so & at other it slows down even though the gas pedal is being pressed on. On december 1, 2014 i was driving home after visiting a friend who was returning to ohio for college.following the road, i had to cross some railroad tracks to as i was veering slightly left.this kia steering locked & accelerated to approximately 40 or so miles, went off the railroad tracks & hit the mental posts holding a billboard.i was not drinking at all & was wearing my seatbelt.airbags did not deploy & due to seatbelt, my back is broken & received major lacerations to my right eye & face. I was transported to 2 trauma units.this kia sorento has had steering & power problems since 2013 and unfortunate for me, i thought these issues were fixed & redesigned.....updated 06/21/17 updated 9/8/2017

I am a short adult.because the front passenger seat does not adjust up or down, i need to put a pillow between me and the seat to raise me higher.when i do this, the air bag will not engage.

Air bag warning light stays on

We were traveling64 mph on interstate 75 south (it was raining hard),when we were hit from behind at 75-78 miles per hour by an f150 truck. Our airbags did not deploy which caused us to hit the steering wheel and dashboard.at the rate of speed we were hit, the bags should have deployed.our sorento had over $9,000 in damage to the rear. The bags are a malfunction, as far aswe are concerned.

The contact rented a 2015 kia sorento. While driving at approximately 35 mph over railroad tracks, the steering wheel seized and excessive force was required. The contact also stated that the vehicle independently accelerated without warning.the failure caused the vehicle to crash into the post of a billboard.the air bags failed to deploy.the contact sustained a vertebrae, neck, and back injuries and head traumas that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.....updated 06/21/17 updated 9/11/2017

While driving on the interstate mysuv loose excelarate and engines light and oil pan light came on i pulled over and engine shut down try turning suv over and it did not turn over i had it towed and machanic said the engine is freeze up.

The airbag light is on. I was informed in an accident the airbag may not deploy.

Airbag symbol light stays on

How can nhtsa give a 5-star safety rating to a 2015 kia sorrento based on a 2013 crash test done on this model vehicle when there is obvious a problem with this vehicle in the 2014/2015 kia sorrento models.since 2014, there has been at least 2 serious injuries and other complaintsdue to this defect and its non-deployent of airbags, etc.(please look at the photos, video & small overlay crash report at http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/kia/sorento-4-door-suv/2015)..the manufactiurer was well aware of this since they redesigned the 2016 model.this defect should be made public for all vehicles affected with these issues which should repaired or recalled to avoid further risk of serious injuries and/or loss of life.it is completely wrongful, harmful and negligent of nhtsa to give an "5-star safety rating" on a later model vehicle based on an outdated test & without fully and appropriatel testing; rendering false misrepresentation to the vehicle shopper.....updated 06/21/17

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 20 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front end of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle was pushed into a telephone pole on the passenger side. None of the air bags deployed, but the vehicle was filled with a very strong smell coming from the air bags. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required a medical attention. Thecontact's vehicle was towed to an auto body yard that was associated with the local dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.

Our kia sorrento has the metal shavings in the oil passage which has caused the entire engine to fail at $50k miles.there is a kia recall for this issue; however, kia is refusing to cover the cost because our vehicle vin is not part of the specific recall.the estimated cost for repair is $8k, plus our out of pocket costs for renting a call.we also had issues with the car that required air conditioner repair and replacement of the entire center console, but are not sure if they are related to themanufacturing defect at issue currently.in addition, we received a letter saying our airbag indicator is faulty but a recall is not coming up for this item.

I purchased the 2015 kia sorento new in the year of 2014 from the kia dealership located in meridian, ms. Since the purchased... My goodness, i've had airbag system issues, electrical issues with my lights, the electronic outlets for device input, control panel on steering to make accessing the radio and phone; the buttons always jam with the slightest touch!! last but definitely not least the motor has a recall as of today's date 09/2020. Plus the transmission jerks in gear and i'm told that that was because of the old motor defects.., but now that the motor has been replaced and the transmission is worse!! the fact i've been going to dealership expressing my issues and nothing is been done other than now being told, ma'am you're out of warranty! that i need to come out of pocket $2,200 for they're negligence. Sounds like it's time for me to retain an attorney!!!

My car shows airbag signal however i never involve in any kind of accident and also when i turn on ac it blow hot air and my backup camera not working

The engine indicator light was coming on at first; i put it on a test and the service tech explained to me that the sensor needed to be replaced.now the airbag light is on.

(amendments to odi#s: 10668775 & 10663356 - update)on 12/01/2014, i was in a 2015 kia sorento lx (enterprise insurance rental) traveling on crabb river road, (a city street) sugarland, texas.i fully stopped at the traffic lights because it was red.once lights turned green, i put the vehicle in motion by stepping on the gas pedal to accelerate but the car felt really sluggish so i gave it more gas in order to gain enough speed as i was about to go over some railroad tracks (approx. 55+ mph) which were on a road that was on an incline.right as the car reached the tracks, the engine stalled, the steering wheel locked and i lost all control of the vehicle and it dove into a ditch; plowed directly into a steel billboard pole which was cemented into the ground because the brakes became unresponsive.there were no warning lights on the dash prior to the crash.even though i was fully buckled, the seatbelt did not prevent my head from violently hitting the windshield and bouncing off the steering wheel since none of the 8 airbags deployed. I suffered near fatal injuries including a broken back (l2 fracture), spinal cord, head, eye, chin, jaws, neck and hip; broken teeth, permanent disfiguration (18 stitches), some vision & hearing loss from nerve damage and ptsd, mental anguish, chronic migraines, extreme stress, terrible recurring nightmares, etc. I'm a 5'2" woman and my chest was pinned to the steering wheel upon the impact with the pole and the fire dept. Had to free me and lift me up to the emts.i was transported to the er of a hospital by ambulance and later transferred to the trauma unit of memorial hermann hospital due to the severity of my injuries.

Went to turn on the car the car had accelerated while in park. From there the same that the electrical part in the car stop working. The tire sensor was also on the engine sensor was also on major issues

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. After the vehicle was parked, the key failed to remove from the ignition switch. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.

I have a serious electrical/wiring problem. Whenever it rains or i go to the carwash, i am guaranteed to have my headlight, brake lights, turn signal light to go out because it gets wet. Also, i have a bad vibration in my front wheels while i am driving. I have had my rotors replaced with new rotors as well as brakes. I have had my tires rebalanced and rotated and it still vibrates. I have taken it to the kia dealership service department for issues. The vibration does not happen when i hit the brakes, it vibrates when i accelerate. It does not matter what the speed, it will vibrate.

Car shut off repeatedly in the middle or driving and the car shakes.the car will not go over 60 while driving.

Electrical malfunctions inside the vehicle when you start up (i.e. Driver seat heating up, panel flashing, fuel ignition taking off sparadically when the car is in motion on city street, rear brakes screehing when in motion,(city street)car constantly requiring a charge up of the battery and replacement of batteries when stationary, exterior lights remaining on excessively after car is turned off, hood of car extremely hot to touch, liquid residue on driveway from rear brakes after the car is parked after use.when the car is stationary for 1 day or more the battery shorts out. When the car is in motion on city street the accelerator has a tendency to idle up and then resume back to normal.

I purchased this vehicle less than 2 months go. I was driving on the highway and came to a red light. The car jerked and did not want to move when the light turned green. I came to a second red light and the light turned green as i press the gas the car shut off in the middle of heavy traffic. I could not get the car to crank again. I finally got help from someone who help push the car to a near parking lot.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, a revving noise was present coming from the engine and the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. Also after using the remote starter to start the vehicle, the engine would not turn-off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the starter however, the failure persisted. The local dealer bayside kia located at 3188 crain hwy, waldorf, md 20603 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 118,000.

As soon as i pulled it off the lot within a few months i had some stalling where it would only go 30 mph i was pushing down on the gas full blown and then all of a sudden it would jerk and then it would go again i took it to the dealership the first time in 2016 and i told him that and they said they couldn't help me there was nothing wrong with it so i said okay second time and did it i took it back there and said there's something wrong do some testing they did some testing nothing.i was doing 70 mph and it jerked on me it slowed all the way down to 30mph by it self a semi i just passed i ended up hitting the milepost marker went through four lanes of traffic that semi almost hit me and killed me $10,000 worth of damage to my car i told guys need to figure this out. Kia they said nothing was wrong with it i got the body damage fixed i had full coverage. I went in again and told them there's something wrong with this vehicle they said it was fine so then i drove it for about a year it kept stalling but then it caught on fire smoke started coming out of the engine compartment as i was driving and my gauges went crazy went all the way to hot so i pulled over . I jumped out another person pulled over that was coming the opposite way and yelled get away from the car just in case itblow up it was white smoke at first and then it started turning into black smoke it was burning something had to sit there for hours we called kia told him to come get it engine had caught on fire. Kia then said theyre replacing engine they did the inspection at no time did they tell me there were any recalls. It took all that for them to finally help me. I bought a new car for a reason i spent over $32,000 for this reliable car i wouldn't take it on a trip it's unsafe my headlights go out all the time i'm sick of buying bulbs so i don't drive at night. I need a new vehicle i got one of the bad seeds kia had yet to say there in the wrong. I am still waiting for them to help 4 years now

My vehicles rear facing camera has a black screen.the lines are still there and it seems like the sensor is working but the screen is completely black. At first this seemed to be an intermittent problem only happening one or two times a week.now it will not come on at all.the vehicle starts in park and when put in reverse the screen turns black but shows the lines for my car.

My kia sorento sometimes won't start.while parked in our driveway, we'll try and turn on and for some reason, won't start and come back later in the day, it'll start. My kids drive this car and i don't want them stranded somewhere because it won't start. In fact, my 17 year old was stranded due to the car not starting and he had sit around and wait for car to be ready to turn on. I've read many complaints online about this same issue but no real solution. One time when it did not start, i spent $160 to tow it to a kia dealership.when the car arrived, the dealer turned on the key and it started. They said they can't diagnose it until it fails to start again which meant leaving the car there until it decides not to turn on. This is unpredictable so we took the car and it started fine for two weeks and again, it failed after that two weeks.with so many online complaints and kia claiming they don't know what the issueis, this has to be unsafe. Online, some refer to the issue as having to do with the anti-theft system. Doesn't kia know this?some complaints noted that they've fixed the battery and starter and still have the same issue. When is kia going to acknowledge these complaints and recall the intermittent start issue?

The low beam bulbs keep burning out in the front headlights. I've replaced them four times in the last year. I took the vehicle to a dealership to see if they could diagnose what was wrong with it. The looked at it and they told me that they found a burnt harness in the lamp assembly and that the whole headlamp assembly would need replaced at an estimated $1100.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that the back up camera failed to function and the radio shorted out. Fuccillo kia of port charlotte (202 tamiami trail, port charlotte, fl 33953, (941) 249-6171) inspected the vehicle and stated that the radio needed to be replaced, but had not yet diagnosed the cause of the back up camera failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,503.

Headlights (mainly low beams) keep burning out and need be replaced about every 6 months to year and half. This time when i needed to replace the left low beam bulb, i noticed the bulb was out when i was jumping the car due to a dead battery. A day later the battery was dead again so i took it out and had it tested. The dealership said the battery was fine. Came home and tested the power to the headlights both when the car was running and completely off (all lights as well as engine). Power is running to the headlight even when the car is off and not enough that the headlight illuminates but enough to constantly drain my battery if the car sits for more than 8 hours!!!! looking at others with the same headlight issues as well as many saying wires had melted and some fires happening. This problem should be looked into further. I will update if able to when i find the cause

The vehicles engine just stalls out and shuts completely down. Kia keepssaying camshaft sensor but yet they have replaced it three times in the past 2 months. It's the engine and it's not safe!! i've read many reports on this happening to others. I was driving down the highway and it just stalled out. I had to shut the car off and restart it and it kept happening. This is not safe! i have three children with me and i just about got hit by a semi. Lawsuit in the making. This needs to be recalled asap!

Took my car to the mechanic for a second opinion regarding low beam lights shutting off when i turn on the high beams. This occurred frequently when using high beams. Also, my headlights (low beams) consistently burnt out.had to install 2-3 new bulbs in each headlight (within 1 yr.). Mechanic said problem is more than just the lights, the knock sensor was bad and needed more work than what they were willing to do and recommended me going back to kia. Driving home from my mechanic, i was on the surface streets to get on the freeway, a knocking noise occurred when accelerating, sounded like it was going to throw a rod, which led me to check the oil. My oil changes are completed on schedule and was not due for another oil change for 3,000 miles. The oil was bone dry. I put in 4 quarts of oil and drove on surface streets, back to my mechanic. Mechanic said it is about to throw a rod and that i needed to drive it slowly and get it to kia. As i drove the car home on the freeway, i was in the number one lane, passing a semi-truck in the number two lane, car started shaking, all the lights started blinking, the orange steering wheel warning light went on and the entire car completely shut down. I had to coast to the shoulder on the freeway. I had no hazards or blinkers. Tow truck arrived and checked my oil, he said there were metal shavings and barely any oil. Towed the car back to the mechanic and they said i needed a new engine. Had the car towed to my home and it now sits in my driveway. Prior and during all of this, not one time did any warning lights on the dashboard go on (other than the one steering wheel light when the car shut down).

My steering column is off center which makes my car or tires shake unless i go a certain speed. My rear view camera never works, screen goes black, but outline shows. The electrical issues with my headlights, rear, brake and reverse lights are always going out. I have to replace them constantly. I hate going to the carwash because i fear that my lights will go out and i will have to replace the bulbs again & again.

While driving my car down the freeway going 77mph my car failed to shift while going up a hill and started making a knocking noise while in cruise control. Then out of cruise control the car made a loud bag and pop and smoked. We pulled over and the car motor had then been seized and would not start. Kia motor is declining to replace my motor based on the product improvement campaign of 18v907000 because they state that i failed to have the car inspected with this campaign. Kia motors told me that they sent the product improvement campaign notice to the previous owner in 2018 but that it was still my fault that the inspection was not done and the knock sensor wasn't added. I let them know i knew nothing about this because i never received the letter because it was not sent to me and i was not notified and the consumer affairs supervisor said it was still my fault for not calling kia when i purchased the car in 2015 to let them know i am the new owner and to give them my information.

2015 kia sorento 2.4 has had light bulb replaced twice in the year

Tire pressure sensor did not light up at any time while driving on 95 in rush hour morning traffic forewarning me of any problem with my front right passenger side tire which tire somehow immediately completely deflatedwhile driving.i immediately pulled over to the right side of road and called for road side assistance.the tire pressure sensor did night light up until the tow truck driver removed the flat tire from my vehicle.when vehicle was take to mccafferty in langhorne, service manager advised me that i should have had the tire checked out as soon as the tire pressure sensor lit up and it would have avoided complete deflation.the tire pressure sensor did not illuminate at any time until the flat tire was removed from the vehicle.a replacement tire will now cost me $ 159.00.

Occasionally the air conditioning blows on the floor, even though the controls are set for upper vents. Seems to happen on trips more than 2 hours. Once you turn off vehicle for about a half hour and then restart it, it seems to correct itself.

I just recently made a post here yesterday ... And after reading comments, i thought i'd add on. My comments have to do with a 2015 kia sorento which needs a new motor because bolts that hold the head to the block are stripped (i smelled antifreeze). Obviously, not my fault. Mileage is 102,000. Kia doesn't want to help me fix this. Telling me i need a new motor at a cost of $7,000+. After reading the comments, i had to add on. Two weeks after we bought the car used, the fuel pump went. That cost was covered. A short time later, the back-up camera went. Kia wanted $1,000 to fix that; we had it fixed for $200 out of pocket. The alternator went on the car (i think we paid for that).my door handle also fell off, we had that fixed out of pocket. From everything i've read, kia doesn't care about the consumer or their safety. I bought a new kia in 2004, traded it in in 2007 for another new kia, which i still have. It has 278,000 miles on it! we bought the 2015 used and it's been one thing after another. Can't sell it as is, gotta fix it. I've been a loyal kia owner since 2004 ...won't be anymore. First opportunity to sell this car, it's gone. And there won't be another one in my driveway. Whoever heard that a 2015 car needs a new motor?!?! and their refusal to help us is unbelievable. I'm so angry.

I have purchased multiple lights for my front and rear lights including blinkers and brake lights. I recently purchased a set of lights for $80, top to the line, and the front right light is out again. I have replaced the rear brake light and it is out again. Replaced at the same time around july 4th.

Alternator fails car battery goes dead causing you to have a hard time steering and unable to shift gears roll down windows or use safety flashers because you have no power! we had been on the expressway going 70 and were so lucky to have just pulled into our bank when failure occurred!! a few minutes earlier and my wife who was driving would of crashed because of lost of power steering going out and weak shoulder strength from shoulder surgery. The car is 23 days over 5 years and had 43757 miles at5 time of failure. This vehicle needs to be recalled because the alternator failure is a safety hazard because i believe the alternator is underpowered for all it is asked to do much in the way of the 2000-2007 kia spectra which is a recalled vehicle>

When trying to start the car, everything flickers like the battery is dying, then it will crank, but now all of the lights are on and won't go off and it is dinging like the keys are still in the ignition, but they aren't.

My 2015 sorento (original owner) just flat out died while driving in the left passing lane on interstate 85n from the airport in atlanta (in the pouring rain 6/8/2019) and without any warning. Not only did it just stop running "everything died" no lights, no hazards; no power windows etc.it would not even acknowledge the key fob. The suv was completely dead. I was so lucky to not have been hit by another vehicle. Once the hero truck pushed me across 8 lanes to safety; i had to have my suv towed to the dealer.the diagnosis: 'the alternator and battery were both bad and had to be replaced for 1500.00'. What?? of course, the warranty had just expired the month before; mileage just had turned 50k. I was completely shocked as no indicators of anything going bad occurred. No warning lights; no hesitation starting; no dimming lights, no noise; etc.' it had full power; everything was normal!my suv had 'every maintenance' performed on time and was still 2k away from its next service. This incident not only placed me in a very dangerous situation it troubles me greatly there was no warning at all. Again, no indicator or symptom of anything wrong. This suv is my 2nd sorento and will be my last kia. I do not feel safe in this brand of vehicle. I want to add my first sorrento; (2008 ex model, i can supply a vin too) also had a major repair event occur right after its warranty expired (within 2 months); the rear differential went bad and had to be replaced. I really wonder if this is a trend with kia; major issues occuring rsoon after warranty expires; major repairs/costs are the result; not to mention the issue placing you in a dangerous situation without warning. Something is wrong here. I have never experienced this with any other vehicle i have owned right neither right after a warranty expires or even close after and when i do? both were sorrento's

My kia sorento have problems. I took it in for a recall two weeks ago. Then the next day after that i have 2 more light come on. The abs light and some other light under that. Don't know what is the problem with that. Then my sensor for my tire is one . I have brand new tire. Also my head lights go out every two weeks this have been going on now for well over a year.something is wrong with the car.

Returning from a trip to california, the kia had just turned over 30000 miles on the ks turnpike when the engine oil light came on.we stopped and checked the oil, it was fine.we had had the oil changed before the trip so it had less than 3000 miles.after checking the oil, we resumed the trip.within a mile we heard a knocking sound, the car died, we pulled over and the car engine was on fire.called 911, within 15 minutes the firemen arrived and extinguished the fire. One of the firemen said it looked electrical and seemed to be centered in the front of the engine, the fan blades were melted and all wires and all rubber hosing melted.kia refused to cover the warranty and the insurance company said the car was totaled.i've enclosed picture of the fire and the damage.

Radio came on by itself, passenger driver side window went down by itself, sometimes my cruise control will work other times i have a hard time getting it to set. The vehicle was in motion on the highway.engine oil was black even though i just had an oil change

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. When the vehicle was started, a random unknown warning indicator illuminated persistently. In addition, both rear doors failed to open from inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to dutch miller kia of charlotte (7725 south blvd, charlotte, nc 28273, (704) 247-7124) where it was diagnosed that there was a loose wire. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. The failure was diagnosed and was linked to the failure with the wiring in the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,951.

This is a continuing problem. I have previously reported this issue to kia and it has fallen in silent ears. For whatever reason my vehicle has been bone dry of oil. There is no warning that the oil is low. No indicator comes on., nothing! this can happen immediately after an oil change. The oil does not leak on the ground and it is known where the oil goes. The only way i know that thereā€™s is no oil is that the car smells as though something is burning. I have spent hundreds of dollars in oil trying to keep up with when it dryā€™s out. Also, the rear brake light (right) burns out at least twice a month. At one point the light burned into the housing unit and had to be pulled out with needle nose pliers. I have again spent a lot of money on replacing bulbs. This car is extremely unsafe and i feel at anytime the car will catch on fire.

My 2015 kia sorento ignition went out and i had to have it towed into the dealership and cost me right at $500 for a new ignition.making me leave with two keys, my original key will only operated the door and then new key operates only the ignition. My factory fob is no longer a part of the working ignition.i am seriously unhappy and find this hard to believe being that my kia has less that 88k miles on it.

Upon receiving recall notice , vehicle is a fire danger and i can not drive it.living in the middle of the forrest makes having this vehicle in this high fire danger town for 2 months put not only my family and home in danger but my entire fire vulnerable community at risk. The company headquarters or dealership would not loan me a safe car nor remove this fire hazard from this community.

When iphone connected the stereo randomly skips. And when my wife got out of the car the stereo wouldn't shut off. Also took car in to dealership multiple times due to leaking radiator fluid. Fixed gasket but still smell radiator fluid when you have car running awhile. Also engine makes terrible knocking noise like a litter issue when you start the car up. It lasts about 10-15 seconds.

Regular driving lights are always dim making it difficult to drive in dark roads and highways.regular lamps are constantly burning out, have replace lamps countless of times since i've owned this vehicle.in december i replaced both low beam light and i just notice both are burnt out once again.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph, the vehicle experienced a power loss and the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed an alternator and it was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 1,980.

On june 23rd my 2015 kia sorento with a 3.3 l engine v6 started making noises and i called a dealership and they asked if it sounded like knocking noises and i said no it sounded more like exhaust noise within an hour my car was losing power it was idling very rough and i took it into the dealership and they said that i need ed an entire new engine. However i had been in there on june 14th and they told me that my oil level was good and there were no leaks but on june 23rd suddenly i had 0 oil in my engine and they were claiming that it was my issue however it is the exact issue that kia has had with this model and make but different engine. My car has 91000 miles on it i use full synthetic oil i had it changed 6000 miles ago it was fine then i have had the maintenance done on my car and there were 0 warning lights on my - for either oil or engine that is why i checked electrical i was told by the dealer that there oil lights and engine lights often don't come on when they have a problem with the car. This is a huge safety issue and if it's starting to happen on the 3.3 engine this needs to be looked at immediately i know someone who owns the exact same year exact same engine and they have been dealing with this type of thing as well

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and all the indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was towed to kia of stamford (263 selleck st in stamford, ct), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Almost all of my tire/brake lights are on my dash, dealership said its the speed sensors in my back tires. A week later (with those lights still on) my parking brake light came on while driving and started a dinging noise, parked turned it off and back on the noise had stopped but all lights were still on. Dealership said speed sensors arent a serious issue to fix, however, my uvo diagnostics says its my abs/ebs system. Ive already had a blown engine and now have a lifetime warranty but, they are picking and choosing whats covered and what isnt.

My car started stuttering and then the check engine light came on and started flashing. Got the code read at a kia dealership and it was determined through a diagnostic that we needed a new engine. We replaced the engine and the car is still stuttering and having gas mileage issues. When the check engine light flashes, my gas mileage is affected and when the check engine light stays on, my vehicle runs normal. My vehicle starts stuttering at around 30-35 mph, when it's first started and driven, it stutters. My check engine light will also randomly start blinking when driving on the freeway and loose power momentarily, then when i accelerate, it feels like it's choking or sputtering and struggling to maintain speed.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be inspected for the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) warning light being illuminated. The contact was informed that the tires functioned as designed and that no defects were found in the tires. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

I had just purchased my sorento on july 18, 2020. On august 25,2020, i put it in the kia shop for the climate control blower(ac/heater blower). I hadn't made the 1st payment yet. The wiring harness had melted. The warranty company refused to pay for the repairs do to it was a recurring problem. That tells me that this has happen before i purchased the car. Now, ether the parts are defected or the shop does not know what they are doing. One thing is for sure, something is making the wiring over heat.

Monitor that displays defogger & defroster is not displaying information..........this monitor is part of the vehicle's "multimedia system"......which displays :: gps, radio channels, heating, air conditions, defrosting-defogger.....i paid $700.00 & $65. 10/05/2018 to replace this same "navigation/ multimedia system".....vehicle mileage then was 48,600....this unit stopped working/ no longer displaying information january 2021. Then mileage of 87,000..elk grove kia said i would have to personally pay to have the multimedia system replace. The new system only lasted approximately 1 year, 6 months.....i asked the kia dealership to replace or offer discount to replace this needed system.....the answer was no !i said to kia dealer that obviously the product installed was inferior..(lasting less than a year....the reply was the dealer is not responsible for the products installed in kia vehicles.i made a complaint to the bbb national programs- auto line...re: kia2115737....bbb said my complaint does not qualify per their guidelines..i am still without visual assist of the "multimedia system".....defogger/ defroster.., gps,

The car seizes, and jerks, like a missfire. It scares me.

My 2015 kia sorento has metal flakes in the engine, burns 2 quarts of oil every 2ooo miles, it hesitates on acceleration, white exhaust smoke, burns a lot of gas, the engine check light and uvo warnings constantly turns on, it can catch on fire anytime, the engine can lock anytime. We need more kia recalls before lives are lost.

Went to turn on the car the car had accelerated while in park. From there the same that the electrical part in the car stop working. The tire sensor was also on the engine sensor was also on major issues

The abs, esc, and low tire pressure lights keep coming on. We have had the car fixed and the lights still come on. City kia told us to ignore the lights cause the sensor was bad. But that's not a good enough answer. Not only that but the headlights are dull and are hard to see at night, which i do a lot of night time driving. The image i am attaching is one i took after having repairs made on my car.

Driving down road car would rattle when turning and it became hard to turn which almost caused an accident then i was driving going up hill when all of a sudden the car front wheel started spinning and a rattling sound became louder from the bottom the awd component suddenly failed tires would not engage. I took it in to a kia dealership and they refuse to diagnose the awd until an alignment is done and new tires are bought

The wipers and headlights would randomly come in and out of working conditions. You don't know when wipers are working until it starts raining so it was very dangerous. We had to pull over and either wait for the rain to stop or wait until the wipers started working again. The backup camera also comes in and out. You can see the screen warning you to be careful but the camera itself is absent.the door handle fell off onto the floor with no prior warning. No one hit it or anything. We opened the backseat in front of our home then drove to the airport and tried to open it again and it fell off onto the ground. The top of the door handle and parts inside that make the handle work.and now most recently our ac is not working properly coming in and out of proper function, nor are our headlights working again. You don't know when headlights are working until you need them so we used fog lights instead as evening just set and we couldn't wait for the sun to come out to continue driving.for a brand new car there are many issues with this car, otherwise we love it and the way it drives and brakes so well.

Wheel speed sensor, abs sensor, and tpms sensor gave out at 56k. Got in one day and it said i was doing 140 while parked. Before i got to my destination, the abs, tcs, and tpms lights were on. Car was used and well taken care of. If everything wasn't built into the wheel hub, it would be a relatively easy fix. Instead i now have to drive my sorento with no tcs, abs, or know if a tire is low/flat because a quoted cost of repair was close to 1200 dollars. Nobody has 1200 to get it fixed. After looking at online forums, it seems to be common with 2013-2015 sorento to have anything abs/tcs related go south. Car drives like a dream, only wish it didn't take 2 months rent to feel safe.

2015 kia sorrento sxl engine check light and vehicle verbal warning that my truck has a serious engine problem that needs to be checked. I took my truck to the dealership service three times in one week to research and repair the engine issue. I paid over $300 for repair. I was told my engine has metal flakes and it's nothing the dealership service can do to repair it. I was told to live with the engine check light basically. My engine has low take off speed when getting on the highway and it runs rough.

I purchased my vehicle less than 2 years ago. I received regular oil changes on the vehicle, with the last one being 3 weeks ago. Last week, i heard a loud rattling noise coming from the engine, upon acceleration. The next day, when i tried to start it the noise got louder. I contacted my warranty company and the had it towed to a local repair shop. The repair shop stated that the oil was very dirty and contaminated with metal, an issue that kia has had with their engines. The paperwork from my last oil change is currently in my vehicle, but the warranty company stated that i need every maintainence record since i had the vehicle for them to move forward. Who keeps almost 2 years of oil changes? i contacted kia and told them the situation and how i only have the last oil change record, which she stated that's fine and that they probably won't even need them and they stated their had recalls on the engine sensors in this model that were supposed to alert you before the engine failure. They towed the vehicle to a kia dealership to handle to situation from there. The dealership called me, before even looking at the vehicle and asked for the maintenance records. He is supposed to look at the vehicle on monday and we will see from there. My wuestion is that with all of the complaints about the faulty engines on these modeks, why has nothing been done about it? are you waiting for someone to be severely injured to do so? why are these vehicles still allowed to be purchased?

After last oil change aprox. 3 months ago. No issues until last week when suv would sound like it's accelerating really fast but not going very fast. On startup i kept hearing a squealing and grinding sound. One day out driving without any warning lights or anything my car seems to loose power if i took my foot off gas. Took it to mechanic who said the engine needs to be replaced. When using the machine to read codes it read p0014 and p0024 (camshaft positioning sensors) was told to check wires and sensors didn't seem to be the ultimate problem. During it's last visit to the mechanic it drained out 2 quarts of oil but no oil had been leaking anywhere. Crude was inside the oil check tube.

2015 kia sorento. Consumer writes in regards to engine issues. *ldthe consumer stated the engine seized due to a sludge build-up inside the valve cover.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while her mother was driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. An audible engine failure warning and a no service message appeared on the infotainment system. The contact drove the vehicle to suntrup kia south (6263 s lindbergh blvd, st. Louis, mo 63123) for the vehicle to be repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 20v519000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and was informed that the recall could not be serviced since the computer systems were down. The contact then contacted the manufacturer, who confirmed that the computer systems were down. The contact was advised to stop driving the vehicle as there was potential for the vehicle to catch on fire. No further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 68,405. Parts distribution disconnect.

V6 engine stalls randomly when accelerating into or across traffic. .kia service dept. Unable to find cause with using electronic testing equipment. Stalling is random and unable to replicate with service dept personnel.a real safety issue.

Had oil light go on when i would take off from a stop but would turn off when i stop. I called the dealer and took it in and was told that the oil filter was put in wrong. The dealer put a new one on and did all the test to make sure it was working proper. Nine day later i had a oil leak and called the same dealer and was told to come back in. The service manager then told me the because someone else had done other oil changeson the car i would have to pay for any repairs if the other place would not. When i asked about the part being under warranty the service manager told me that this part was not under warranty. The service also told me that even if the dealer did the oil change after the first one that kia would not warranty it. So now i will get a bill over 900 dollars and still not know if i have a engine that will work .

Todays date: 12/21/2017.purchased vehicle 11/9/2017.approx. 61,500 miles. I check equipment fluids regularly.while driving, the oil indication light illuminated.i pulled over, checked.almost bone dry.no forewarning of any kind.the dealer serviced it prior to my purchase, so, i have had no reason to schedule vehicle service yet.vehicle was manufactured march 5, 2014( 3/5/2014 ) .

Gossett kia on mt. Moriah in memphis, tn replaced my engine in 2019 due to a recall but after my engine was replace my check engine light has constantly been coming on.i have taken my kia sorento back to the dealership numerous time only to be told that i am not putting my gas cap on right or tat my gas cap needs to be replaced.i have purchased 3 gas caps from this dealer ship.i will be driving down the street and the check engine light will just come on.this issue did not start until they put in the new motor.however no one at the dealership checked the censor.i have replace numerous parts on my car and all the replacements were done at the dealership.i have requested from the dealership a print out of all the repairs to my kia and as of today's date i have not received it.i have mad the request 3 times.once over the telephone and 2 times inperson .i feel defeated but i am not giving up.they need to find out what the problem is.i am 71 years old and they seem to think i don't know what i am talking about.my name is [xxx] and i live at [xxx] my phone # is [xxx]i have an appoint to take my truck to kia again to check the engine light 01 08 2020.if they had checked the censor when t his first happened it would probably still be covered under my warranty.now i will probably be out of pocket to replace the censor.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving my vehicle, the engine "shut off" and the vehicle suddenly stopped running.i was able to get the vehicle to coast somewhat off the road at a round-about.i had my 3 year old daughter in the vehicle and it was very cold.i was told later the engine had seized and there were metal shards dispersed all over the system.when i looked into this issue, many kia vehicles have had recalls on engines with this exact issue, but my vehicle is not included in these recalls.my vehicle has around 70,000 miles on it and i still owe 8000$ on the vehicle, while my repairs will be around 6500$.i have done all routine maintenance on the vehicle and had my oil changed and fluids checked two weeks prior to this incident.

Despite maintaining oil levels (well-documented), engine sludge occurs. Engine shakes when going uphill. On january 2, 2020 4 qts of oil was given. On january 20, 2020...the engine had used up 3 quarts of oil. The previous oil change occurred on november 9, 2019 and the one before that was during the first week of october 2019.

We were driving and hear a rattling noice and all of a sudden our vehicle started shaking and we pulled over. This was about 3 hours after we had an oil change at the dealership. This was the second time after an oil change we had issues. We attempted to turn on the car to get it to safety but could not power on. We had to get towed and a mechanic advised us we would need a whole new engine

We had just left home, and were driving at approximately 40 miles per hour, and no "warning lights or indicator lights" came on, we lost allpower about a quarter mile away. Coasting to the side of the road and called for road-side assistance. Had vehicle towed to dealer, and was told it was engine failure, due to seizure of engine.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to low oil maintenance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

On may 10th 2021 the engine ceased on my 2015 kia sorento. The car was towed by aaa to grand prairie, texas. Note, the cadillac converter was stolen at this location and christian brothers did replace it. They notified us that the engine needed to be replaced. I then had it towed on may 19, 2021 to my local mechanic at in richardson, texas. I have used this mechanic for several years. It was confirmed that the engine needed to be replaced. I then had the car towed on may 20, 2021 to kia in plano, texas. On may 27, 2021 kia called me and said the motor needed to be replaced and they are contacting kia to see how this will be taken care of. I did not receive a return call for several day and i was assuming the vehicle was being taken care of. On june 8, 2021 i called for an update. I received a return call from the kia service man who then informed me that the computer engine was not updated in 2019 and kia was not going to uphold their recall on the engine because of this. There is no notification given on the vehicle that this was coming due or even past due. Kia has now refused to replace the motor that is in a current recall due to the motor ceasing. On june 9, 2021 i contacted my finance company and insurance for advice. June 10, 2021 i called to talk to service department at 9:45am was told they would return my call. At 3:50 i called again since service mailbox is full and i canā€™t leave a message. I called again at 5:00pm and was told the service manager will call me june 11th friday morning. I did not receive a call from her in the morning. I called at 1:10pm june 11, 2021. I was directed to two mailboxes that were full. I called a third time and was told they will have the service manager call me. Emely returned my call and said i need to talk to kia consumer affairs. Consumer affairs at kia again said the letter was enough notification. I went to kia on june 12, 2021 and they wanted me to trade it in.

The car seizes, and jerks, like a missfire. It scares me.

While driving approximately 50mph in my sorrento the car hesitated and stalled when i pressed the gas to pass a car next to me. Ithe felt like a slip. I wasn't sure what to make of it, but over the next 4 days it started happening more frequently. I went to turn it on the 4th morning and a cloud of white smoke came out of my tailpipe. I decided it needed to go to kia immediately.my sorrento is a 2015 with 27xxx miles on it. This is not what i expected from a new car. I brought it to kia and was called 10 minutes after i received my courtesy ride back. I was told a diagnosis was sludge and they needed maintenence records. I brought my receipts(which i had to have my mechanic type back out as i hadn't saved any reciepts). When we brought those in i had a spare key to my car and noticed it was in the parking lot. I checked under the hood only to discover they hadn't even pulled the valve cover on the car (i know this because there was a dead wasp frozen to the top of the bolt you need to take off to remove the cover that was there when i brought it in). They informed me that they opened the cap and that's how they knew even though initially on the phone they said they pulled the valve cover. They took my service papers and called me the next day to say kia won't cover it and rejected my records. My mechanic is a licensed mechanic.no reason given for the rejection. They say we will be responsible for engine replacement but still can't give us a diagnosis other than "sludge". So much for their "best warranty in the business".

2015 kia sorento -blinking check engine light and sputtering occurred while operating on congested roadways in and out of inclement weather. Strong burning smell coming from engine. No warnings prior to this event with engine.

My 2015 kia sorento started to make a loud noise from the engine without warning as i was running errands. I was close to home and able to get the car home. We had to get the car towed to a kia dealer to get "kia diagnosed" in order to be eligible for any recall or warranty. We are second owner and 94k miles so this translates to out of warranty. Regular maintenance was preformed at the dealership where we got the vehicle. It's only 5 years old and 94k miles, i believe kia has a better reputation than this. Ultimately we have a big garage bill now in addition to putting money out to buy a temporary vehicle to use while we are stuck with pausing for this kia we cant drive. In my research i gather we are not alone in premature engine failure. I expect kia will make this right eventually. In the meantime what are we supposed to do?

While driving on the expressway at night, my car lost acceleration. No warning at all !!!the car completely stopped before making it completely to the shoulder. I hadto get my car pushed by another car to avoid a major accident or fatality. I learned after towing my car to a repair shop that there was a recall that i wasn't informed of and my motor has to be replaced. Thank god he sent angel's to protect us.

Motor is locked up.there is 114,000 miles on my vehicle and i was traveling down the interstate and my vehicle just stopped pulling.i pulled over to the side of the road and called a tow truck.the motor was not running hot or anything.when we got it back to the shop the motor had locked down.i keep regular maintenance on my vehicle and have since i bought it new.are there any recalls on the motor?this motor should not have locked down like it did.any help would be greatly appreciated.

My engine died while passing a vehicle on my way to work. No warning light, no knocking sounds, nothing. It just died. Had to get in front of vehicle i was passing and coast to the side of the road. Would not restart. Sat in the cold for 3 hours without heat on a desolate road with no cell service. No town within walking distance. My mechanic said the motor is locked up and i'll need a replacement. 103,825 miles on it.warranty ran out at 100,000 miles. Apparently this is common in these vehicles and kia is involved in a class action suit for this and other malfunctions.called kia and they were not helpful at all.i'm a nurse carrying for covid patients and have no vehicle to get to work. I still owe $13,000+. I bought it in 2018.

Driving vehicle in town at approximately 40 mph.engine lost power and shut off.was able to coast out of traffic and off the side of the road.would not restart.had vehicle towed to local kia dealer where they proceeded to tell me the engine had locked up and this only happens due to poor maintenance and sludge buildup in engine.they did an inspection and found engine to be clean and a rod bearing had failed causing the problem.they replaced engine under 100k mile power train warranty.

I was driving to work yesterday morning (7/10/18) on route 15 in sussex county.my speed was approximately 65-70 miles per hour.i heard a knocking sound, which alarmed me.it went away, and came back, off and on, while driving, a sound that i have never heard before with this vehicle, ever.no lights came on, no indicators, etc.i contacted newton kia, where the vehicle was purchased, and was told that they couldn't fit me in until friday.i made an appointment, but after doing this i decided to contact one closer to where i work, which is on rt. 10 in denville, nj. Gateway kia.i brought the vehicle in and had them check out the noise.i was contacted and told that it was the engine, that it would cost $7100.00.the way i was notified was as if i have $7100.00 just sitting around, which i don't.the engine, the engine, no warning, no nothing.i picked up the vehicle, and drove it home, still hearing the knocking noise off and on.i attempted to go to work today, 7/11/18. The noise became worse about a block from my home.i turned around and came home, shut the car off, smoke came out from the engine area.let me make something very clear to whomever reviews this information.i am not paying for this repair, kia is.first thing you are told that you are over your warranty.i just turned 102,000 miles, have had no prior issues.this happened out of the blue, no prior noise or problems.i am now driving a rental, i need to get to work, i need my sorento fixed, and i am not paying for it.i am also going to be reimbursed for this rental.i, again, have had no prior issues with my vehicle.i am very upset about this, so what is going to be done about it.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving 75 mph, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to family kia of st. Augustine (2665 u.s. Highway 1 south, st augustine, fl 32086, (904) 808-0542) where it was diagnosed that the engine was destroyed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

I took my car in to a kia dealership recently for preventative maintenance, and because i noticed that it was not driving as smoothly as usual. I was told that nothing was wrong with the car, but, there was a product improvement campaign for which software was updated on my vehicle. Approximately one month later, i was out of town in my vehicle, and all of a sudden the engine light began to flash, the rpms went down, the transmission appeared to slip, and the car was essentially disabled. The kia service department that i brought it to explained to my husband that the "product improvement campaign" -- where the software was added to my vehicle was due to the fact that kia knows that the engines have issues, and may have catastrophic failure early, and because of this, they have designed something to put the vehicle in a 'limp home mode', so that it is not further damaged. Because this has not been called a recall -- even though kia has full knowledge of engine issues -- a vast majority of kia oweners of the affected vehicles have not had this software update, and are at risk of their engine failing at high speeds, endangering themselves, their families, and others. This is an absolute public safety issue. Additionally, just replacing the engines is not enough, these vehicles need to be completely recalled. Many are still being financed, and owners owe thousands of dollars on vehicles that will have to carry a salvage tag, and be worth pennies on the dollar due to having an engine that it was not manufactured with. Please hold kia accountable for their irresponsibility, and consumer fraud.

Was driving down the interstate, the engine completely shut off, i had no signs of my car needing oil wasn't due for a oil change for another 1,000 miles, my engine light never flashed the car never jerked or nothing just shut off and would not testart, called the tow truck he advised me that my motor was locked up, upon pulling the oil stick out i didn't not have 1 drop of oil in my car, i had no smoke or anything coming from my car it is a 2015 kia sorento however on the door it has a 2014 manufacturing date

We went to get oil changed and they said if they change oil the engine will exploed . They said our vehicle had recall on it

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine prior to the vehicle stalling. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine was defective and needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced and the failure was remedied. The local dealer kia of dayton located at 8560 troy pike, huber heights, oh 45424 was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,100.

"takata recall"we have around 41000 miles on our 2015 kia sorrento. My husband took a position working approximately 2.5 hours away from our home and making a daily commute of 5 hours each day to work. We have never had any trouble out of our sorento. In saturday, october 14, 2017 after a long day at work he was traveling home and was about 1.75 hours into his 2 hour commute when our sorento started making a terrible knocking noise. No light indicators came on to indicate what could possible be going wrong at the time. He got over in the slow lane and dropped his speed to approximately 30mph. Before every trip he made a point to check the oil and that morning was no diffetent. All oil levels were fine. After a few minutes the oil light came on. He got off at the next exit and put in around 1 quart of oil.. Still no lights but the terrible knocking noise coninured. He sat for a bit and let the new oil run through and started to make his way home at which time the engine light and the oil light came on. He then pulled over and called a tow truck and had our car towed home. Our engine is completely blown. Upon starting it makes a terrible knocking noise and after 15 to 20 seconds turns off.a mechanic checked our car over and said there was metal shavings in our oil. We have contacted kia but they we are not willing to do anything as we did not get all services and oil changes at the dealership.

At approximately 70,000 miles, problems began. First noted the coolant container was contaminated with oil and sludge.entire system was sludged, did not know why.i had the system completely flushed and all new fluids replaced.2 weeks later, again, the sludge appeared and coolant container filled with oil and coolant hose burned through due to the oil.the coolant hose was replaced. And again i had the entire system fluids flushed. Again, the same thing happened with sludgebut this time as i was driving the car 2 miles from my home to a main street bank, smoke came from the hood.opened the hood, smoke coming out from engine, and a sludge substance exploded throughout thecar and oozed out of the car.could no longer drive the vehicle due to engine seize concerns.car was meticulously maintained- oil changes regularly, inspections etc.i was told i'd have to possibly get a new engined, or at the least have two head gaskets replaced at a cost of $5,500.despite kia touting the 100,000 mile power train warranty, and after weeks of trying to get the dealer to fix it, then went up the corporate ladder speaking with corporate, i was finally told that the warranty did not apply to me because i was not the original owner!!!!this despite the fact thati purchased the car certified pre-owned from the kia dealer and was told that there was a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty that applied- that this was a selling feature!!! i could not drive the car for a couple of months while i tried to resolve the issue with kia- but they refused.there was a 2014 recall on the same car, and this car was a 2015, manufactured in 2014.i owed $9,000 on the car!!!!needing a car, i bought a used buick for $2600 to use since it would be cheaper than renting a car, and will sell that car when needed.can't upload the photos and the repairs info at this time.

We purchased this 2015 kia sorento used with less than 40,000 miles but had 62,000 on the engine at the time of failure. I was driving down the highway when i heard a load ticking and then a violent shaking and a bang as the dash panel lite up and the vehicle coasted to a stop. I then looked under the car only to see oil pouring out of the oil pan. I was later told that the piston rod had gone through the oil pan and that there was sludge in the oil pan. When we contacted kia we were made aware that we were beyond the warranty period and the could not help us.consequently, to save money we purchased a used replacement engine and paid for our local mechanic to install it.the total cost was over $6,000. Since this time, we have become aware of recalls on other kia sorento engines, but we are concerned that our blown engine was due to a defect in the engine/fuel system, much like the others.

The vehicle was in motion 35mph when suddenly all the lights in the panel flashed and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The dealer diagnosed the car with engine failure . They refused to cover the damage under warranty and claim that is due to lack of maintenance even though we provided them with service records. This is a faulty engine and kia is refusing to stand by their product.

The engine seized.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated while driving at 60 mph and approaching a highway exit, the contact slowed down. After entering the exit ramp, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact slowly drifted to the side of the roadway and then had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic diagnosed that the engine seized and needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was then towed to myrtle beach kia (4811 us-501, myrtle beach, sc 29579, (843) 444-8000) to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.

While driving at 60 mph, car decelerated and the engine stopped working.able to pull off to side of road.engine is being replaced under 100k warranty.

Egine stalls and ac on stallsand has died 3times

I was driving and was stopped in a turning lane waiting to turn when the car stopped working and wouldn't do anything. I had it towed to a kia dealer and was told the engine had seized. There was no reason for this to have happened on a newer vehicle. I was told there was sludge, much like i am finding a lot of other people with these vehicles were told. It cost me $5700 to have a used engine put in that will likely fail as well, as after researching this is a common problem in these vehicles. There was a recall up to year 2014 for known engine failure and it should be extended to 2015 because the problem is beyond the year 2014 engines.

Engine valve it's detached!car was running fine since purchased used back in oct 2019 with thirty one thousand miles. I was sold the car with the pretense of car fax and it being in good condition with only two previous owners.as of this past monday the car was making a terrible sound from under the hood, and i had it towed to my local kia dealership this friday. The dealership i originally purchased from have been uncooperative.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. Ever since the contact purchased the vehicle six months ago, there had been an abnormal tapping sound coming from the engine. Also, the steering wheel made a loud popping noise that caused it to vibrate. The failures occurred upon starting the vehicle. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to friendly kia (5819 us-19, new port richey, fl 34652), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The staff stated that they were too busy to assist. The manufacturer advised the contact to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was 90,600.

Low audible knocking in engine compartment that progressively became louder over the next 2 days. Engine stalled, flashing check engine light appeared. Vehicle is now un-drivable because of a p1326 code that is common in these hyundai/kia engines. Oil change was last done less than 2 months ago and an oil change plus facility. A campaign suggests this is a defect of the engine. There is a class action suite in favor of the owners of this and other vehicles with hyundai/kia engines.

Had engine replaced due to recall and now its doing the same thing as it was before the engine replacement by kia. I was going 65mph with cruise control active on the highway and all of a sudden it slowed me down to 20mph, check engine light blinking and went into limp mode. Will not go over 2000rpm and literally shifts like a standard when it is an automatic. This is such bull on having these issues, and doing the same crap as it did before the engine replacement which was done in march/april. I hope i dont have to keep driving it til it throws a rod like before in order to get it replaced and fixed. Kia is not a safe vehicle. I would like a rental.

I was driving down the highway and began to make a strange noise and engine light came on. It decelerated and i exited closest exit. It then died at stop light. I had to have it towed and engine needed replaced.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento the contact stated while driving 65 mph the vehicle stalled on multiply occasions. The check engine light was illuminated. Additionally, there was an abnormal odor of fuel detected inside and outside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to kia downtown los angeles (1945 s figueroa st, los angeles, ca 90007 (888) 425-6349) where it was diagnosed that the engine air filter exchange hose and engine hose needed to be replaced. The contact stated that there was also a coolant leak that could have ignited a fire. The vehicle was repaired however the failure reoccurred.the manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided.the failure mileage was 85,786.

We had a 2015 kia sorento that was burning through very high amounts of oil when driven on the highway. Thedealership could not find a problem but asked us to supply all oil change records which we did not have available, the car was under lease.when we brought it back to kia, on lease, we were told we had to pay over $6000. We have not paid at this point.

Bought my kia sorento about a year and a half ago. It had about 64,000 miles on it. It now has 87,000. We noticed heavy oil consumption within a few months of owning it. No oil leaks exist. At first it would need about a quart or so between oil changes, but continued to get worse because now we need almost 3 between oil changes. Oil light began flickering on and off intermittently on the highway heading home followed shortly after by a check engine light. I stopped and checked the stick to find that it's essentially dry. I buy the recommended oil at the gas station i'm at and add it. Just before finally arriving home the engine back to sputter and lose power accompanied by a tapping noise. Another crappy kia engine that didn't even make it to 100,000. They better fix this.

Was driving my kia and the engine light came on and the car shut down, no power at all. I didn't have time to get off of the road.the car is being towed to the dealership in the morning.i'm so disappointed / mad with kia manufacturer. I was driving in 6 lanes of traffic in downtown atlanta earlier, what would of happened if it would have stalled out on that busy interstate .. God is good.....do not buy a kia ' repeat do not buy a kia '

I bought a 2015 kia sorento with 85000 miles on it for my stepdaughters first car owned it for 6 months it was great the other day she was driving 50 mph on country road and the engine quite and siezed up no noise no warning no check engine light dealer says it needs a new engine called kia absolutely got no we're even though there a ton off complaints about kia engines doing the same thing they say there's no recalls on this particular vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator suddenly flashed on and off and the vehicle's speed would not increase past 20 mph. The message "limp home mode" was also displayed. The vehicle was towed to antioch kia (119 il-173, antioch, il) where it was diagnosed that the nox sensor was faulty. The nox sensor was reprogrammed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

In late feb.2021 my check engine light came on, as well as my uvo system telling me there was something wrong with my emission's control systems.i immediately stopped & had the code read.p0447 evaporative emission system-vent control circuit open.my husband researched & found there was a wire broken, it was fixed.the check engine light went out for approximately 2 days & in early march, same thing, check engine light, stopped & check the code reading, yep same exact issue.we completed a full tune up on the vehicle, new wires, plugs, everything, fluids.check engine light went out again & once again 2 days later yep same exact issue as well as it indicating the timing cam sensor was bad.with this new code, i made an appointment to take it to the dealership. 3/28/21 my appt date.took the vehicle in, was told they would send a video of the inspection (which they did not)via text & they would complete the software update for the knock sensor.when they were done, they came out stating there was slug in my engine & it needed a new engine. They wanted all my oil change records & said they would try to get kia to pay for it. They charged me 150 for the diagnosis, of which they never showed us any pictures of slug from the engine, nor did they ever really say what was wrong.now i am doing research & find there was a recall for 2.4l engines and they want to charge me to put in a new engine, when these are the ones that have issues.by the way, they us if we drive it the engine will blow up, well i don't have a choice but to drive a vehicle i am still paying on as i do work.it hasn't blown up yet! is it possible they thought they had a dummy in their presence and found metal shavings & just didn't tell me.also when the check engine light came on, it didn't change the driving, other than the vehicle has used about a quart of oil a month, i have had no other issues.i just want my vehicle fixed!

37000 miles , short 120 trip, oil checked before starting, 110 into trip, loss of power,,rod knock, engine seized, towed to closest garage. Nom at lexington ky. Kia waiting on the battle of warranty to beganwaiting for the lo

Blown head gasket and cracked engine block.we noticed a smell of burning antifreeze when we parked and got out of the car.took it to the dealership and they said the head gasket was blown and the engine block was cracked and needed to be replaced.

2015 kia sorento stalled out while driving on the interstate no prior warning before stalling out. All dash lights illuminated and would not restart. Only clicking when turning the key. Replaced battery and still only clicks when turning the key. Replaced starter now cranks but still will not turn over. 68,000 i am the original owner and all maintenance has been maintained throughout ownership. Contacting the dealership first thing in the morning. If the outcome is the motor being faulty as i have read numerous reports of this ongoing issue and resolution cant be met then legal action will be taken. Thank god we weren't injured from stalling on the interstate or worse. When will it be realized this is a serious problem and dangerous? i pray no lives are lost before action is taken to correct the engine defects.

Noticed knocking in engine at start, and when pressed gas pedal.stopped driving it immediately. Per mechanic, new engine needed.

The engine began knocking while driving on the highway.this occurred about 2000 miles into the last oil change.the dealership is stating the bearings in the engine are the cause of the failure.

Car started making knocking noises from engine and got louder as my husband accelerated.car then hesitated to accelerated and eventually stalled. This is dangerous!

Purchased a used 2015 kia sorento from a used car lot on february 15, 2018. I've experienced no issues with the vehicle until august 19, 2018 while driving home from work. While driving on the freeway, and accelerating, the vehicle completely stalled. We pulled the vehicle over and tried our best to get it to restart. It had to be towed home. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed the kia had complete engine failure due to the engine seizing. Please contact me for inspection documentation (currently at work and unable to upload the receipt).

Driving on a 4 lane highway my 2015 kia sorento died without warning and made a clicking noise when i tried to start it.i had the car towed to a local kia dealership who advised metal shavings were found in the oil, which clogged the oil filter, restricting oil flow thus causing the connecting rod bearings to break. They confirmed there was no sludge found in the engine. The car needs the engine replaced and my extended warranty is refusing to pay citing there was not sufficient oil lubrication due to low oil which caused the connecting rod bearings to break. However, the dealership advised both myself, warranty, and adjuster the car was burning oil as no external engine leaks were found. All oil changes were completed by the kia dealership whom i purchased the car from and records were provided. At no point did any warning lights illuminate on the dashboard to indicate low oil or to check engine. My 2015 kia sorento has the gdi (or theta ii) engine which is named in multiple class action lawsuits for the same thing. I still owe on this car as i have only had for 1.5 years and am now looking at $5,000-$7,000 in repairs.

Heading to a family event, we were on the highway and the kia suddenly shut down with no warning. We had to get over two lanes going 60 mph, traffic was moving and we had to make a sudden exit off the road and were almost rear ended in the process. Once we got over we coasted off and parked in the nearest parking lot. We discovered there was little to no oil on the dipstick, there was no oil light warning, no engine light or any other signs it was low on oil. The oil has been changed regularly. We brought it into the shop and was told it needed a new engine. Now my 2015 kia sorento needs an engine replacement that i cannot afford and since i purchased it used it is no longer under the kia warranty. I'm making payments on a vehicle that i can't drive and i see no reason that the oil should have been low, especially without any warning light. As of today the vehicle starts with knocking, but dies frequently with no warning. There is still no engine light on.

I was accelerating on to a on ramp to interstate 405 when he engine light started to blink and car losing power at the same time. The car also proceeded to make an engine knocking noise and i exited the highway to get off and got it towed . The car has 51, 800 miles and i am original owe we and have had regular oil changes and maintenance .

I noticed my 2015 kia sorrento was idling very hard. This stopped momentarily and then began again and the engine light began flashing. The vehicle struggles to accelerate andi turned the vehicle off. Upon inspecting there was no oil leak but little to no oil in the engine and no indication of a problem. The vehicle was routinely oil changed and maintained.

Vehicle has 85,940 miles on it and has a blown head gasket. I bought it in april and it has run fine. Took the vehicle in for a routine oil change and the technician noticed coolant leaking from the engine block by the connection point with the head gasket cover on the driver's side of the engine. This is not expected from a ~4 year old vehicle with < 100,000 miles that's only driven about 10 miles a day m-f on roads with speed limits below 45 and very little traffic.

When i turn a corner, my kia sputter to get around the corner. This problem has almost caused me to be in a couple of accidents. I advised the dealer before about this problem and was told, "my car is ok". This is not ok. Also, when accelerating, it sounds like the transmission or some other component is slipping. It rpms goes high before decreasing back down to get into next gear. I've expressed this to the dealership as well and was told once they drove my car, "they didn't notice any change". When going up a hill, i have to press all the way down on the gas to get up the hill which causes the rpm to raise and it sounds like it's stuck in a gear or something. These issues needs to be rectified immediately. This is not normal for a car to do this. It frustrates me to tell the dealership what's going on with my car and nothing is being done. I am the one who drives my car everyday and i know when something isn't right. How can a dealership tell you what your saying isn't correct when they don't drive your car everyday? for me to have purchased this car 1 year and 4 months ago with only 2,500 miles on a 2015 kia, i really shouldn't be having these many problems. It almost make me feel like the odometer was rolled back. Just my opinion.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to romeo kia of kingston (111 schwenk dr, kingston, ny 12401, (845) 477-5400) where it was diagnosed that the connecting rod fractured through the middle of the engine assembly and metal fragments were present. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

Engine stop at rhe ligth almost causing and accident. The engine of 2015 kia sorento stop getting closed to ligth for no reason. The engine is lock at 61,000 dealership wating time on a diagnosis is 4 to 6 weeks

Bought the vehicle used, from dealership had little over 91,000 miles on vehicle when purchased and purchased extended warranty as well, only had 11months, at little over 109 thousand miles on vehicle noticed white exhaust coming from tail pipe, was having to put oil in the vehicle 1-2 quarts a week. At one time, during a week, vehicle seemed to be stalling/slow to accelerate, engine sounded different, when got home, checked oil, the dip stick showed barely any oil. Put oil in the vehicle. No warning light ever has came on about low oil, no warning light about engine has come on. I called local kia dealership about the issue. Took 2 weeks to get appointment to take my sorento in to get looked at. Once in the kia dealership, service department manager says they did an oil consumption test on the engine. Multiple points of the inspection show engine failure. Dealership has more in depth description of what all has failed with the engine and oil consumption. Also had to provide the copies of when and where the vehicle had its regular maintenance such as oil changes done so it could be sent to the extended warranty to approve engine replacement. My vehicle has been sitting at the dealership since july 20,2021 with no working being done, not even the safety recalls, because i was told engine is on back order. At time writing this it is august 19, 2021, so my sorento has been just sitting at kia dealership with nothing being done. I have called once a week to kia dealership, as they have yet to call me for updates. I reached out to kia customer hotline, they were able to pull up the info on vehicle, find out exactly what part/engine was needed from dealership and shows it back ordered because the engine is coming from korea to us, no actual eta on when it will actually be sent/shipped to us to then be sent to dealership to put in my vehicle. Was told it could be months..unacceptable! was never sent any information on possible oil consumption problems or engine problems.

While driving on the interstate mysuv loose excelarate and engines light and oil pan light came on i pulled over and engine shut down try turning suv over and it did not turn over i had it towed and machanic said the engine is freeze up.

The engine burns oil fast. Regular driving after we bought it was ok. We started hearing a mystery crunch noise, but it was a road trip that made the oil problem apparent. We took a trip of 300 miles. At the beginning of the trip the oil was full, when we got there it was almost dry. The crunch noise increased. We took it to a mechanic at our destination and he filled it up again. Thr crunchy noise was gone. When we got back home after driving 300 miles again the oil was at low level.i am afraid to drive this car with my kids in it. I will check my oil everytime i drive but thay is not sustainable.i worry what else is wrong with this engine

Vehicle continually flashes check engine light and once read at dealership shows engine misfire codes, however once code is cleared issue does not come back for months. Misfire causes decreased engine poser and eventually if code is not cleared will result in loud dinging noise. Kia has not been able to find any issues or find anything that can explain this. There are multiple people online with this same issue and yet no recall for this issue. Kia needs to do something. Vehicle can be sitting or in motion under normal operating environments (no off-roading).

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while the driver was driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. The driver turned off the engine. The vehicle was restarted two hours later and was able to drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed but no failure code was found. The failure recurred a second time. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where a second diagnostic testing was completed with results that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 166,000.

While vehicle was traveling 70 mph on interstate, engine cut off. Subsequent mechanic evaluation was engine is internally damaged and requires replacement

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 65 mph, the check engine and check oil warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle started to slowly decelerate until it stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (parkside kia in knoxville, tennessee) where it was diagnosed that the engine seized because of sludge, and a new engine was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

Car only has 100,000 miles and has blown a head gasket. Oil is changed on regular and well taken care of

The engine indicator light was coming on at first; i put it on a test and the service tech explained to me that the sensor needed to be replaced.now the airbag light is on.

With the vehicle moving at 60 miles per hour the engine suddenly accelerates and then turns off in the middle of the highway, i put it in neutral and i was able to stop next to the highway, i turned on the engine light but did not show any code and the engine did not it turned on and it turns out that the engine is blocked, my mechanic reported that it damaged the crankshaft and connecting rod

I experienced a sudden engine failure on august 27, 2017 on my 2015 kia sorento lx with 28k miles. The engine type is a theta ii 2.4l gdi. The complete engine failure happened without warning while driving 65 mph on an interstate. The car immediately lost all acceleration capabilities. There were no warning displays or unusual noise/movement beforehand. It was a very dangerous situation and fortunately i was able to get to the shoulder and avoid any severe safety issues. The car was towed for a nearby kia dealership in new jersey and they diagnosed the engine failure. Kia has acknowledged this engine problem and they paid for a remanufactured engine and car rental costs for a nearly two-week period. The newly installed engine is only under warranty for 10 years from the original purchase date, not the date of the remanufactured engine installation. The car's service has been up to date and i've had no previous issues with the car.why has this engine problem not yet been recalled for 2015 sorentos? it's likely a very similar problem to the kia engine recalls earlier this year. The kia dealership in new jersey indicated that they replace dozens of new engines a month, including on many new 2017 and even 2018 models. Does someone need to be killed for action to be taken?

Driving from alamogordo nm to el paso tx which is about 90 miles distance with my two kids the engine made an awful sound and stopped. I was by a pep boys service center and they checked it out. They found that the engine locked up! the suv only has 71150 miles on it! now i'm on foot and don't know what else to do! any help?

Went got my oil changed.the tech said you have a rod knock the sorento only 80.000 miles on it.

I was driving my 2015 sorento to work, and looked down to notice that the engine temperature was running hot.they day before my ac had stopped working, and i noticed that the engine fan was running longer than usual when i stopped the car.as soon as i noticed the engine was hot, i looked for a spot to pull over.i was on a busy highway, so it took me about 2 minutes to pull over.in that time the car starting running rough, and i noticed a terrible antifreeze smell.i shut the car off immediately, and had it towed to a mechanic, who told me i needed the entire engine repaired, because the head gasket had failed, and the cylinders were warped.i had only owned the car for 2 years, it had around 70k miles on it.i had no indication lights appear to let me know anything was wrong with the car.i'm amazed my car can tell me if my tires are low, and if i'm going to switch lanes in to someone, and when i need an oil change, but showed no indication of a catastrophic engine failure.this seems ridiculous in a car that is 5 years old.there are no recalls, and kia will not repair it, as i am not the original owner, so the powertrain warranty does not transfer to me.i was told i need a new engine, repair cost being 5300.i will never buy a kia again.i can't believe that a car can fail so bad, and i'm held accountable, despite being a responsible car owner.i also am upset that it gave me no warning.i hope this is looked in to for other owners, and am sad to be out 5300 dollars.i will not recommend kia to anyone, or buy any kia ever again.

My check engine light came on while driving. The car did not seem to be handling any different then normal, aside from a recent rattling sound on start up that would lessen after idling/running for a few minutes. I took it in to get the code read, and was given a code indicating the timing cam was off. Once i gets took it into the dealership it was determined i needed a new engine due to metal shavings found in my oil filter and pan. The oil was also noted to be very low, despite me having performed the oil changes at proper intervals. I since have learned about the engine recalls for the same year, but in the smaller 4 cylinder 2.0 and 2.4l engines. Upon learning about this and looking further into it, i had read that on several consumer websites that others with the same year and larger 3.3l v6 engine as mine were having the same issue of engine failure due to metal shavings found despite also performing proper maintenance of the vehicle. So my issue is now i need a mew engine as have others, but it is not recognized as part of the issue with the smaller engine 2015 sorento's.

My car was working fine, the next i hear a knocking in the motor, the car started turning off, i took it right alway when they told i need a new engine. There was no engine light on or no notice that car was going break down. I only had car for about 1year and 3 months. I still own 25,000 and i need go get a new engine.. I went online saw more complaining about same thing.. Your engine suck dont work..the dealer said if they would a been a 4 cylinder they would have fixed it right away but because mines of success under it has not been recalled well i think you should recall it because i read about 15 people complaining about the same thing no noticed that their car was going to break down and now they don't have a car.. I need a car to get work and take my kids to school.. Fix my car.. This not right that u sell a car that engine is going give in less then 2 years..

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact purchased the vehicle on august 15, 2018. A couple of days later, the check engine indicator illuminated, the vehicle would not accelerate on the highway, and the vehicle shook. Galeana chrysler jeep kia (180 greystone blvd, columbia, sc 29210, (803) 779-7300) performed a diagnostic test and cleared some of the codes that appeared; however, the failures recurred. On another occasion, when the vehicle was started, a booming sound was heard from the engine compartment. An independent mechanic stated that some screws detached from the cam timing shaft and the vehicle was leaking oil. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but they stated that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact was referred to the manufacturer who also stated that the vehicle was out of warranty since it had over 60,000 miles. The dealer stated that the vehicle had a history of code misfires and needed a new engine. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The vehicle loss motive power without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the oil level was inspected. The contact was informed that there was too much oil in the engine. The vehicle was then towed to nucar kia of tilton (40 tilton rd lot a, tilton, nh 03276) and diagnosed that the failure was related to a manufacturer's recall for the occupant detection system (ods). The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer declined to provide the recall repair since the contact had not gotten the manufacturer's recall for the ods software update. The contact stated that the manufacturerā€™s recall letter stated that if the air bags functioned properly, there was no need to contact a kia dealer for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 53,000. Consumer stated knock sensor recall was not received although dealer states otherwise. Lawsuit states without knock sensor kia is not responsible for warranty coverage.

After kia dealership installed the knock sensor software update in october 2018, the engine went into limp home mode with engine light blinking in the month of january 2019.dealership advised me engine failed and would be replaced under kia warranty for this issue. Vehicle has 57,000 miles on it. Problem now is dealership says new engine won't be sent to them for 3-4 weeks. Then additional week to install. It's already been there over two weeks. They did provide loaner. Correction this occurred in december 2018, not january 2019.

The engine light came on and the car turned off while we were driving. We were on the hwy. When it did start it would accelerate and then decrease in speed on its own. We tried to find the code but it didn't register any thing wrong.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving, the vehicle stalled without warning and the steering wheel seized and became difficult to turn. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the technician could not find a failure code. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. The vin was not available.

I was returning home from a trip (traveling @~70 mph) when i suddenly lost all power and had to coast to the shoulder on the sb 5 fwy. I was fortunate as there were many large trucks and other vehicles which i was able to avoid. As i came to a stop the car shut off and i was unable to restart it. 12 hours later and hundreds of dollars in towing fees, i had my mechanic take a look and was told the engine had seized. What!!! i had recently had a scheduled oil change and was not due for a couple of thousand miles. This all occurred without warning: no check engine light, low pressure oil indicator, or even overheating temperature. Waiting to get it back from my mechanic where i will park it and continued to make payments on a vehicle that cosmetically looks great but is worthless. Quick quote for new engine and labor is about 6 to 7k. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a nightmare that starts with a k and end with an ia.

Between oil changes, the engine on this vehicle burned through / consumed all of the full synthetic oil causing a massive failure with the timing chain and all the tensioners. Repair estimate: $2800. I've never had a car that consumed oil like this. It was unpredictable. If i had caught this later, it was have likely caused a more catastrophic failure requiring the replacement of the entire engine or rebuild. The vehicle is under 75,000 miles. Had i been the original owner of the vehicle, a 100,000 mile warranty would apply. However, subsequent owners lose 40,000 miles of warranty coverage. My warranty is expired as a result. Kia has had other recalls on prior year sorento models, but the 2015 is yet to be recalled as of the writing of this complaint. I hope that changes in the near future.

Engine started making a knocking noise upon acceleration and at initial startup.engine has only 53,000 miles on it. I drove the vehicle home, parked it and immediately made an appointment with the local dealer to diagnose the problem. I was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer (less than 5 miles). After much runaround and little explanation, kia is telling me that the engine needs replaced due to sludge (something i have verified with independent mechanics is very unlikely with a 5 year old vehicle and reasonably low mileage). The oil at time of drop off was verified to be clean and full per the kia technician. I provided kia with records per the warranty agreement and they are denying my claim for replacement.every excuse for denial has included additional terms not outlined in the written warranty agreement (receipts that include minute details or the excuse that 'dates don't match' when i haven't provided any dates nor is any required service based on time (only mileage)). The vehicle is still under the bumper to bumper warranty (5 years/60,000 mile) and powertrain warranty (10 years/100,000 mile).many other vehicles of the same year have had similar issues, yet kia is refusing to acknowledge the problem or expand previous recalls for the same model and issue.

Vehicle lost power while driving. There were no warning lights, no check engine lights. Daughter in-law was driving vehicle. She made it home with vehicle. My son looked at vehicle when he got home from work. He found oil to be low, oil was changed in january. No signs of oil leaking. He removed oil filter and found metal shavings in oil.my son is a small engine/diesel mechanic.he hooked up his code reader, error readings were related to cylinder bank. They had vehicle towed to closet kia dealer, about 70 miles, verdict from dealership needs new engine at tune of $10,000. My son cannot afford a $10,000 repair bill, he had the vehicle towed home.the vehicle has about 125,000 miles on it.my concerns with this are why no warning or check engine lights?my second concern is that the kia recall and class action lawsuit and subsequent settlement maybe should have included the v6 engines. Kia is known for engine problems.and maybe i can't even be the one to enter this reportsince i am not vehicle owner but i am not willing to rollover and give up. My son just wants to be rid of vehicle and try get out from under the $8,000 he still owes on loan. I think this is a continuation of the engine problems kia has.

My sorento has less than 65,000 miles on it & is kept well maintained. I was driving on the turnpike (60mph) and heard a clicking sound and could no longer accelerate. I pulled overand the oil, check engine, and another light game on and i could not restart my car. I had to get towed off the very busy highway. The shop said my motor had completely failed and i would need a new one with a quote around $6,000 after installation fees. A well maintained 2015 car should not be experiencing this issue. It is very disheartening for a complete engine failure on a car that is not even 4 years old with less than 65,000 miles.

I was driving down the road with my 4 children in the car at 45 mph when all of a sudden my car completely lost power. Luckily i was able to coast to the side of the road. It was over a 100 degrees outside and my 4 kids under 6 had to sit and wait on a ride in the heat. The car has 40,000 miles on it and has had 7 oil changes, of which i have provided the receipts for. There is engine sludge despite the fact that the oil was changed more frequently than the manual suggested 7500 miles,

Vehicle was under light load travelling approximately 55 mph on level ground on a state route and suffered catastrophic engine failure. It had a load banging/clacking sound and screeching then seized up bringing vehicle to a stop before i could safely pull off the roadway. Mileage at the time was approximately 100,700. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, and service determined the engine repairable and in need of complete replacement. Warranty coverage has been denied. Cost to replace the engine are $5000 for a used engine to over $6000 for a rebuilt/re manufactured replacement.

I was driving my car home from work and it shut off on me as i was driving on a busy city street. I tried to start it and it just kept shutting off. I had someone hook up a computer on it and it said something was wrong with my camshaft timing.i had no warnings leading up to this. It just shut off in the middle of driving it.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that their son was driving at 55 mph and stopped at a red light when the contacts son proceeded to drive after the light turn green, they saw smoke coming from underneath the front hood of the vehicle. The contacts son pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contacts son and his girlfriend got out of the vehicle and another driver pulled over stated they saw fire coming from the rear underneath of the vehicle. The other driver had a fire extinguisher and extinguished the fire from the underneath the front hood and under the vehicle. No warning light illuminated from the vehicle. No one was injured, the fire department did arrive to the scene but there was no fire report filed. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The next day the contact called the local dealer martin kia (289 e cleveland ave, newark, de 19711 phone: (302) 738-5200)and had the vehicletowed to the dealer where the contacts insurance company inspected and diagnosed the failure as mechanical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.

We started having problems at about 20,000 miles.the car was pulling as we tried to accelerate and smoke would blow out of the tailpipe. We took it into the dealership in which they stated we had sludge in the engine. They stated to maintain regular oil changes, but we would need a new engine. 4 months later they did an oil change and stated the oil was clear of sludge. Within 2 weeks, we heard a loud banging sound from the engine, it got louder and was barely going 5 miles/hr. We were on a major road and were able to pull into a parking lot. We had it towed to the dealership (central kia of plano). Without even looking at it, they said it was the sludge in the engine and we needed our engine replaced ($7000). They would not even look under the hood until we paid them $400 to open it up. They stated the work would not be covered under our warranty even though we are only 2 years into it and around 30,000 miles. I called kia consumer affairs (800-333-4542) and they contacted the dealership and that's when they finally opened the hood and found sludge in the engine. They took pictures and sent it to kia "tech" in which our claim was declined due to "lack of maintenance". We provided receipts for our oil changes. They did not accept 3 of them because they did not have a "po#" and they did not accept 2 of my credit card receipts. I told kia consumer affairs the 2015's are having the same issues as the recalls 2011-2014. She stated the dmv is collecting information on the 2015's. Everyone call consumer affairs!! there is an engine problem with the 2015's and kia is not standing by their warranty. We have not been provided a rental car. I have also escalated this issue to kia's "escalation dept" in which they stated to get them more receipts and "tech" can review the case again! i have gathered more receipts including how often we were putting oil in between oil changes.

On 3/10/2019, i was out of town, driving on the highway when my car lost speed, engine light came on and car shut down and wouldn't start back up. Had to have car towed to near by shop and had to find a way back home, which was 2 hours away. On 3/11/2019, shop stated that my engine had froze. He could understand why engine froze because it had oil and i wasn't due for an oil change until another800 miles. Shop owner informed me that he have had 3 other customers with the same make and year who car did the same thing. I have taken my car to kia on several occasions for evo systems reading problem with system and told them that i heard a knocking and shaking in my engine. I have read about several other case similar online. Clearly there is a problem with the engines in the 2015 kia sorento that you all aren't willing to investigate or admit too

Sitting at a red light i noticed my check engine light flashing. The light turned green and when i pushed the accelerator i had zero power. It was able to go up to 20mph and i was able to make it up the hill and into my work parking lot. I called kia and luckily was able to get towed to the dealership. They stated its probably an engine misfire, we'll have you up and running in no time. The next day, i called the dealership (bc i didn't hear from them) and was told "were ordering you a new engine". 6 days later i called again because i still haven't a reason as to why.. I was informed the update they did on my computer did something to my engine and thats their only solution. Mind you the vehicle only has 41k miles on it! apparently that happens alot to kia's but i wish i knew before i purchased this vehicle! total piece of junk and i don't feel safe. Side note: my transmission has always shiftted very hard in the morning (even after a 20min warmup) their looking into that now.

Engine make noise and not running well

While driving on highway car lost power and cut off, was able to start again and get to dealer maintaining speed roughly 45 mph

My significant other was driving my car and felt it needed oil due to how it was sounding while driving it. He checked my oil and my car was completely out of oil. No oil warning light went on. He added oil and shortly after the engine began making a ticking noise when he excelerated. He was driving home, approximately 10 miles, and the engine light came on while driving it, lost horse power while driving. I have 100160+ miles on my car, just had an oil change at local kia dealership 3000 miles ago. Always kept up on maintenance oil changes.

This is my 4th time having to call a tow truck for my vehicle. I was reversing out of a parking space, and tried to put car in drive , car would not do anything. I tried again to put car in drive, would not budge. Could not take key out of ignition, could not move steering wheel.later on tried to take keys out of ignition, it let me ,butwould not start still. Had it towed to dealership, did not find anything but a dead battery. I bought a new battery. Picked car up. Drove to store about 10 miles from home, same thing happened again. Had it towed again. Same conclusion .did not find anything again. Drove car home. I may drive my car once a week. The next time i drove my car againit stopped on me in the middle of traffic , with no warning , the car just shut down. Someone stopped and pushed me out the middle of street. Thank god. Had it towed again tokia dealership . Needless to say, they found nothing but a dead battery. Battery was less than 3 months old. Bought from kia. Made it home safely. 3 dayslater started car, turned on air, waited until coolinside . Car cut off even before leaving driveway. Could not believe it. This time it started right back up, to no avail, cut off again.

My 2015 v6 kia sorento's engine seized absent any warning on 08/14/21.i was in the car with my dog and 3 young daughters at a stop light.the light turned green and i pushed the gas and the car did not move.it was frozen.i pushed it again and the entire car shut down.i police officer had to push our car out of the way after another motorist called 911.we were stuck.my auto shop said my car had extremely low and dirty oil, despite the fact i had just gotten a $90 synthetic oil change 2 weeks earlier.i had the car towed to tasca kia in rhode island and they told me the engine was covered under a lifetime warranty. They later called me and told me the recall was only related to v4 engines & denied any problem with v6's.i am learning many people have had this same problem.i called kia consumer affairs and they denied the issue and refuse to help.my car was impeccably maintained and had 77,000 miles on it.the dealership told me to "scrap" the car.at the time of the engine seizure there were no warning lights on and the temperature gauge was in the middle.kia is refusing to accept responsibility.

Engine failure due to bad rod bearing. Kia will not fix the engine due to a software update not fixed previously. This vehicle was just purchased. A software update will not fix a premature engine failure. The update only turns on the check engine light if the knock sensor detects a knock.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly jerked and stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and had to be towed to the nearest dealer. It was diagnosed that sludge was present in the oil reservoir, which caused the engine to shut down. The vehicle had to be towed back to the state of residence and the dealer diagnosed that improper oil changes were performed. The engine had to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while stationary at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the oil change warning light was illuminated. The contact drove to her residence, check the oil level and noticed that there was no oil in the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer kia of lagrange located at 1217 lafayette pkwy, lagrange, ga 30241, (706) 298-5024, where the diagnosis was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

Approximately 1 month ago my car sounded rough so i checked the oil and nothing showed on the dipstick. I put oil in it and since have had to add more, also now my mechanic has diagnosed the alternator is going. Oil shows up in the tailpipe which means the engine is using oil, it is not a leak. I am so disappointed as i bought it only one year ago and i use it for my living. I am expecting more problems and don't know how to proceed.

I purchased a new 2015 kia sorento may 17, 2014.as i was driving down the road last night at approximately 45mph, suddenly the car jerked around, sounded like i downshifted (although it's an automatic) and i got the diagnostic message of the "engine control system- possible engine condition" it told me to take it to the dealership for service immediately.they said today that they had to order a new throttle body assembly and it was too dangerous for me to drive.not sure if anyone else has had these problems yet but it shouldn't be happening in a brand new car!

I have had my sorento for a little over a year. In february my engine started making a knocking noise. I took it to a dealership and i was told i needed the engine replaced for 8000. After reviewing i seen that this is a common problem and there are recalls for alot of their engines. Since i purchased my car used, there is no warranty and they refuse to fix it even though it is a common problem with their vehicles. I was told my engine had sludge even though i had my oil changed in november and my car is still under 79000 miles.

The first incident was after refueling. I did not top off. The car just died while idling, took 3 tries to start then lurched when i put it in drive and died again. I was told by the dealer it was because my tank was too full. I drove 325 miles to an almost completely tank. The indicator stated i still had 76 miles left of fuel. I put 14.5 gallons in (not to the full line) and 12 hours later, it won't start. The battery is new. It's not the battery.

My kia sorento 2015 started making a noise when i would try to accelerate it started burning look and i took it to kia where the technician told me that my car was having the same problem from all of the sorentos 2014 that had been recalled, i contacted kia and they denied my repairs now i'm stuck paying for a car that doesn't work. My car has only 68,000 miles

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, on several occasions the vehicle hesitated to accelerate above 25 mph with the accelerator pedal depressed. The accelerator pedal was released and depressed and the vehicle accelerated to 50 mph up hill. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel lever limit bolt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to kia of chattanooga (2136 chapman rd, chattanooga, tn 3742, 423 855-1022) however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure of retrieve a fault code due to the check engine warning light not being illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 143,670.

Driving on highway,i stopped at a traffic light,my engine stalled,i was unable to get engine restarted. Was towed to dealer, was told they would check car on monday.on monday was told engine needs replacement.it is well known that kia theta 2 engines have bad crank shafts, causing engines to fail. I want my engine replaced at no cost to me,because of their mistake.

Smelled antifreeze after driving. Took to kia. Diagnosed that bolts that hold the head on the motor had stripped out from the block. Caused antifreeze leak. Bought certified pre-owned, dealer refuses to help us with this. $7,000 new motor needed. 2015, 102,000 miles, $19,000 owed on car.

In march of 2019, the engine in this car blew without being out of oil or having any warning lights on (no check engine light).it initially started with what sounded like maybe a fan issue or something- while driving.at that time we confirmed that there was oil in the car and without a light or system indication, we had no reason to suspect something major and made plans to have it checked out.but the noise very quickly progressed and my mechanic brother confirmed that the noise sounded like the motor was blown (low end rod knock).i contacted the local kia dealership (wallingford/meriden, ct) for a service appointment and was told flat out that because i had purchased the vehicle from my father in law- the warrantee would not transfer and we would be responsible for the cost.this was not possible and we had no choice but to park it until hopefully one day kia would recall it or i could get my hands on a descent engine that may not have the exact same issue.in the interim i placed another call and was told that the information i first received about the warrantee not transferring was incorrect but now it had expired. My father in law would roll in his grave knowing how much he advocated for kia and their warrantees and that this car sits unusable.

After my 2015 kia sorento sx was recalled for faulty engine; it was rebuilt.however, my car has recently stalled while driving and i had to get it towed to the dealership.i was told there was another engine oil leak.they claimed to rebuild the engine, but i am having the same exact issue.i have had nothing but issues since purchasing this car.this is a very dangerous problem, and could have resulted in a fire causing serious bodily harm or worse.i am asking for another recall, because apparently the first time they allegedly fixed the faulty engine was to no avail as i am having the exact same issue as i had prior to the engine being rebuilt.the problem has not been remedied.i also read several news articles where there was recent recall on the kia sorento models as well as several others.however, upon searching to check if there was in fact another recall, there is not.this is confusing and i would like to know what is going on as several news articles state indeed 2015 kia sorento has another recall.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 35 mph, a loud popping sound was heard from the engine area and the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to kia of orlando (9550 s. Orange blossom trl, orlando, fl) where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.

My kia sorento has the theta ll engine, this engine vibrates a lot and has very high gasoline consumption.this car is us made and was exported to the dominican republic.my phones in the dominican republic are [xxx] or [xxx]. In the usa my phone is [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have 2 concerns, 1 mainly i have a newer 2015 kia sorrento with under 25k miles, owned it about 2 years ever since i owned it there has been a ticking in the engine and white smoke blowing out the exhaust. Which should not be thecase with a newer car, after taking it to the dealership they said nothing was wrong. Additionally when i turn on the air conditioner it smells like vinegar or dirty socks an aweful smell, once again the dealership stated nothing wrong with the car. It sounds like kia is covering up old deficiencies with their engines as it said engines manufactured into late 2014 were recalled how is the 2015 kia, which was manufactured in 2014 not on the recall list? additionally there have been many many other people listing the engine seizing up. My wife drives this car with my small children im writing this retractively in case something happen. Additionally we get regular oil changes done. I think this engine model should be recalled. As a newer engine should definitely not be blowing white smoke out of the exhaust nor ticking like the components are displaced.

Went to turn on the car the car had accelerated while in park. From there the same that the electrical part in the car stop working. The tire sensor was also on the engine sensor was also on major issues

Vehicle stalls during normal operation both while moving at traffic speeds and at a stop. Initial occurance was while turning left thru an intersection. Engine rpms dropped to zero and engine quit running. Restarted after shifting into neutral. Happened 15 additional times during twenty minute drive home - while stopped at a light, slowing for other vehicles, and whennot actually accelerating while driving down the road. Vehicle will not idle once restarted without stalling out. Battery connections are tight, oil levels are normal. Vehicle speed varied from stopped at a traffic light to 55 mph on open road. Stalling occurred whenever accelerator pedal was not depressed. Shifting into neutral and revving motor prevented stalling while at a stop. Unless under acceleration vehicle engine will not remain operating. I am not a qualified mechanic or safety expert, but this condition seems unsafe to me.

Been having problems with the car for over 8 months. Eats oil like no ones business. White smoke coming out of the exhaust. Every time i run the on board diagnostic, it has always said no problems exist.today, my husband comes home from an appointment, and tells me the vehicle was running really rough, shaking the entire car. We check the oil everyday and we've tried going to two different kia dealers for our oil changes, and they never tell us anything is wrong. Now, this comes up today. I do the on-board diagnostic and it reads. "possible condition(s) with your engine control system has been detected." schedule a full system check with your nearby kia dealer soon.the car shakes horribly. Up until this time, no shaking, some white exhaust when starting the car, but no major problems. No engine lights on, until today. We have had regular maintenance on the vehicle. It even passed smog testing. So now, after reading similar complaints, i worried, i won't be getting my car fixed.

Driving on the highway going about 75 in the fast lane when the check engine light came flashing on and the car slowed down to 60 would not accelerate at all was able to get it to the dealership. On the way to the dealership i noticed shifting from 1st to 2nd it did not want to go. I was told the car was in limp mode and then got told the engine had to be replace. Estimated time for my car to be returned to me 2 months. When we first got the car was march 2019, a few days into driving it i noticed that it was shifting weird from first to second and had a hard time down shifting. We took the car back they said it's just a newer car to you and everything is fine. I said fine whatever. Now it's may and it needs a new engine. This is ridiculously dangerous we have 3 kids and what if we all were in the car and it just shut down a high speed.

When my wife and i started our family we were so happy to purchase the 2015 sorrento , 92,000 miles and 3 years later the engine locks up out of nowhere. I was going about 60 on the expressway and the engine started making a weird rattling noise less that 10 seconds later the car lost power steering the brakes were not very responsive. After a near death experience of trying to navigate to the safety of the emergency lane, i began to look up this issue. Kia had a recall on the engines from 2011-2014 for the same issue. Every post or review i read, the customers had experienced the same issue as my 2015. Thepeople that had 2015 or newer who experienced these same issues was told that the best warranty in the business will not apply unless you have had all oil changes done at a kia dealership or have all receipts of maintenance done to the car. If they did have all receipts they were told because the oil changes were not done by kia the warranty will not apply. Catch 22?my 2005 expedition has 218,000 miles and still runs great. My 93 cadillac sedan deville have 157,000 miles and stills runs great. But some how the non american car i purchased died in 3 years and 92,000 miles. As a high school teacher every student i come in contact with for the next 15 years will be scared away from this company. Im downtrodden because i know that the corporate entity called kia is going to fight tooth and nail to say there engine in the 2015 in not faulty and i almost died because they have faulty engines. I made sure to always change the oil in this car before the due date because it transported my wife and child. My family has had a lot of cars from all sorts of makes, never seen this happen to a car so quickly and without warning!

Car stalled on 4/28/2019 in the interstate it did not have any power and it has happened to several kia sorento owners but the recall for the engine still doesn't come up on the recall system.code: obdp1326

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated while driving 30-35 mph, he heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine before the vehicle inadvertently loss power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts and drove to his residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to rod bearing failure. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while the vehicle was at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that they could not cover the repair of the vehicle as the service campaign for the failure had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

Motor shuts down completely disabling the car electronically. I lose my brakes and my steering. In february 2020,i almost died driving the vehicle the car engine seized while driving and was replaced by kia. I never received an itemized bill from dealership they stole the rental from my private driveway to and stole $5,000 and my belongings from the vehicle. One june 29.2021 i almost died again driving the car. The new engine shuts down and i lose breaks and steering and hit an animal trying to get off the road for safety since i no longer have breaks to my vehicle. The animal ripped off my undercarriage and dented my radiator. The car was smoking and the engine would start and when driven 50 feet keep shutting down and locking no breaks no power no steering becoming a hazard to myself and others. I have had no resolve with any dealership i have been to 4 different kia dealerships and the hyundai certified pre owned used car sales dealer i purchased the car from.instead of helping me and not placing my life and other lives in danger. I was threatened, antagonized, slandered, defamed, and had the police called to remove me because i refused to commit a crime and set my car on fire like the dealership told me to do. I need help.

Engine locked up with no warning lights or other indication it was happening.vehicle was driven to store and parked.came back out and it wouldn't start.towed to dealer.dealer says excess sludge in engine even with regular oil changes.vehicle has 72,819 miles and dealer is stating it will not be covered under 100k power train warranty.pictures of engine do not indicate excess sludge.

I was driving my car on the highway when my engine stop running, im told by kia the engine seize up and it is not covered

Hello. Prior to receiving the recall letter around mid-july 2021, we had complained to the dealership about the engine humming after a ride and ac going on and offon july 17, i was scheduled to visit the dealership and take care of the recall. Although, i was scheduled for an appointment, nothing happened! the dealership did not have the component required for the recall. We then left and insisted to return the following day and requested that a diagnostic be conducted in addition to the recall on july 23. Following the diagnostic, the dealership told us we needed a new engine. It was a big surprise and a shock that a car which was serviced twice a year at this dealership, had 104, 000 miles and was only 5 years old, had a complete failure. The dealership provided a quote for the repairs and never mentioned the recall or how it could be related to the diagnostic they had just made. Upon consulting with my insurance company, usaa, their adjuster was able to establish that the mechanical failure my car was facing was closely related to the recall. Based on the assessment made by usaa on august 4, 2021, we now know the dealership knew that failure to receive the recall caused the mechanical failure. The quote the dealership presented me included and was consistent with damages reported in the recall. Why don't they contact kia, which is clearly liable, and want me to pay for a new engine? i need help to unpack this issue that has strained my resources, time and brought stress to the family car. A major risk associated with this overheating is fire.in light of this new information, i have contacted the dealership to discuss august 8, 2021. I also contacted kia usa on july 28 prior to establishing the connection between the recall and the mechanical engine. No response. I need help as school is reopening. We need the car to go the work. No help has been provided.dealership is southwest kia#451/ lithia39650 lbj, freeway south, dallas,tx 75237, tel: 469-772-7252

My wife was driving home from work and while in rush hour traffic on the highway traveling approximately 50 mph the engine just stopped.she did not receive any warning, no smoke coming from the tailpipe, and none of the check/oil lights came on in the dash.she was fortunate to get it pulled over to the side of the road before it stopped.when i arrived to see what was wrong there wasn't any oil in the engine.i had just checked the oil 10 days prior while filling up for gas and the oil was full.i added oil and tried starting the car and it would not start.towed the vehicle home and discovered the battery completely died.i replace the battery and the engine started but i was hearing a constant tick-tick-tick and once putting the car in gear there was a very loud rattle, then it almost died.next day i contacted kia to have it towed to a local dealership and they opened the engine.the head mechanic told me that it was a sign of lack of maintenance because there was massive amounts of sludge and kia warranty would not cover it.i informed the mechanic that i complete all my oil changes but don't save the receipts and couldn't produce them.suggested by the mechanic to call consumer line and i received a bunch of run-around and said since i don't have maintenance records they will not honor their warranty.after detailed research i have found numerous complaints of exactly the same issue from other consumers that own a 2015 kia sorento as well, including this site.i believe a complete recall is in order for all 2015 kia sorento's for engine trouble and kia needs to honor their warranty!

Upon a cold star, engine rattles loudly.this was determined to be a timing chain tensioner.this is a known problem i kia's across many models.somehow the sorento was excluded. Of course our vehicle isat 101,000 miles and kia not only refuses to cover it, the want $3100 to make the repairs.i contacted kiacorporate, the led me on and changed their story 3 times over 2 weeks and ultimately declined to help. This is a know problem and there are other advisories with other models.it's the same tensioner, i don't know how they can pick and choose.

I got this sorento when it had 32 thousand miles i have put almost 30 thousand on it but every sence i have owned it it has used almost 2 quarts of oil at about 25 hundred miles i chage it at 25 hundred miles but dont no why it uses oil like thati have had it a little over two years i beleave

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle shut off and the oil warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (myrtle beach kia in myrtle beach, sc) where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to an internal engine failure. The dealer recommended that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the warranty applied to the original owner only. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,864.

While driving on the highway and attempting to accelerate, the engine light came on, the car slowed and would not accelerate. Within 400 feet, the engine completely stopped and the car would not start again. I had it towed to the mechanic who said the engine 'seized' and would need replacement. There were no prior warnings of problems and the oil was changed regularly.

2015 sorento engine died on me twice in one day, once while driving down the highway after applying the brakes after the person in front of me was breaking and the other time after i turned onto my street. I had to pull over both times and restart the car. It's never done this until today 9-26-19. I could have been killed due to the engine dying on me while driving. Apparently this has happened to many people with this vehicle and a recall needs to be done.

Vehicle engine stopped on freeway, causing me to have to lose power brake and power steering ability, was barely able to get vehicle off freeway and stop without causing major accident to several other vehicles. Engine exhibits same symptoms are previous model year recall from kia and hyundia but dealer fails to acknowledge issue in same exact engine, but one year later model.there is a recall under sc147 for 2012-2014 kia sorento and like type vehicles, however mine is a 2015, and as mentioned has the same exact symptoms as previous year engines. Requesting sc147 to be extended into model year 2015 and 2016 vehicles to have cars serviced before this causes injury or death in other motorists.

Driving home end of work day every thing was normal driving down 66 and check engine light came on then .5 miles later lost powertower home has been making popcorn like sounds from engine being told it's the pistons

Heading home on the highway and it shut down and i coasted it off the road. We discovered there was no oil in it but had no oil light warning or any other signs it was low on oil. The oil had been changed a few months before and was due to be changed in a couple of weeks. Now my kia needs an engine replacement that i can't afford and since i purchased it used it is no longer under the kia warranty. I'm making payments on a vehicle that i can't drive and i see no reason that the oil should have been empty especially with no warning light.

This vehicle was purchased dec 1 2018 and the knock sensor failed on the trip back from the dealership.it was replaced and now april 22nd 2019 less than 5 months later it has failed again and left me stranded.the check engine light is flashing and the vehicle is stuck in limp mode.this model is known for this problem and should be added to the recall list.

Traveling on highway when heard engine noise and then immediately engine seized, car stopped running altogether and was able to drift to side of road. Towed to closest kia dealer who says engine must be replaced at a cost of $16 thousand!!! kelly bluebook worth of vehicle is approx. $8,000.recall for this same problem doesn't seem to extend beyond 2014 engines although there are numerous documented customer complaints of same problem in later year kia's. Help!

I was driving the car and then it slowed down to 40 mph and cut off on the highway. I cranked it back up and it made a weird noise. I called a tow truck. Took it to the shop and they said the engine needs to be repaired. There is no way that it should be having motor issues. The oil has always been changed on time. Also i have to change the headlight bulbs on the left and right

The suv has been having white smoke coming from tailpipe and the car has been pulling. It makes ugly noise when we try to accelerate on the freeway and pulls. The oil light isn't coming on to tell us when the oil is low even if it's not time for a pil change. We seem to notice that the car is burning oil more frequently than a normal vehicle. Also notice sludge when we check the oil even if we had just had a oil change it seems to come back. The dealer keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with it. They tell me they can't find anything wrong.

My 2015 kia, has always make some engine noise, i did not buy it new brand and always checked out ok when i had the maintenance done on it. The noise was getting louder and more noticeable. I took it into be checked and they said my engine is failing. Kia says since i wasn't the 1 first owner on the vehicle they will not cover it, i took out an extended warranty and they are now giving me trouble about covering it since i haven't found every maintenance record, but most of them.

Leased a 2015 kia sorrento, in my third year of lease, regular oil changes every 3 months, heard a knocking sound in engine at approx. 35,000 miles on my way home from my son's hockey game on the highway which got louder and louder.took it to the kia dealer and immediately the sales person informed me that it was the connector rod failure without even working on the car.showed kia all my receipts for oil changes, waited two weeks to hear back from them, finally i called and they offered to pay for engine but i would be on the hook for 1200 on labor.not sure why i am on the hook for labor on a faulty engine.they claimed there was sludge in the engine.looked online and saw a recall for optima engine connecting rod for kia in which they are extending their warranty from 100,000 miles to 120,000 miles because of the same connecting rod problem.so they know they have an issue with this part but still wants me to pay for some of the cost.i don't have 1200 to pay for the repair, its now going on 3 weeks without the vehicle while they review my claim, no rental vehicle, and i am expected to pay on a lease of a vehicle i don't have. Vehicle is still in repair shop.

I have had complete engine failure while driving and also paint chipping in several areas.

I was traveling at approximately 50 mph, i accelerated to pass a car in front of me and when i came around the car, about 60 mph, the engine stalled and all of the warning lights on the dash came on. The engine lost all power, even though the air and all other functions on the car continued to function. I pulled to the side of a very busy highway when this happened, turned the key to the off position and tried to restart it, nothing happened. Luckily someone i knew was driving by and stopped to help me. The first thing he did was check the oil and it was full, it wasn't due for an oil change for another 200 miles. There was no indication of any type of problem with my car previous to this. Regular maintenance was done and it is at 74,000 miles. I had the car towed to a repair shop near my home and as i feared, the motor was seized. I cannot believe that this is happening, i bought the car used with less than 70,000 miles on it less than 6 months ago. The main reason i purchased it was because kia is known as a reliable car with an amazing warranty. I found out while signing the papers that the warranty is not passed on the another owner and that it was only valid to 60,000 miles, which the car was already past. I decided to purchase anyway because everyone i know that owns a kia has never had trouble with their vehicle. The price of a new motor is going to be $5500. I am devastated and trusted that kia would not sell a vehicle knowing that there are such catastrophic engine problems. Although the situation is bad, it could have been much worse if there would have been no where to bring the vehicle to a rest on the side of the road.

While driving a knocking sound occurred and the engine temperature began to rise. Eventually the suv begins to stall and starts to lose power. Once stopped (pulled over safely) i noticed that the coolant is overflowing and gushes out along the side of the hood. When adding more coolant, it continues to overflow once driving and the engine temp rises again and begins to stall. Seems to not be able to hold coolant.

Engine stall on freeway at high rate of speed, engine light began to flash and now makes rod tap noise.towed to mechanic who diagnosed engine failure.stated the technical advisory on this vehicle maintains that premature engine failure remains in this year vehicle as well as prior years that have been recalled.

My 2015 kia had its faulty engine replaced approximately 6 months ago.i drive this car approximately 9,000 miles over these months and drive it on vacation from ohio to wilmington, nc.the car was thoroughly checked by the dealer before we went on the trip- everything checked out fine.halfway through our vacation, the check engine light came on and stayed blinking.we had it towed to a dealer in wilmington, nc.they informed us that we had a bad knock sensor, kia was covering the cost as it was part of our new engine warranty.how does this happen with a brand new engine?there is no reliability, am i supposed to limit my driving because i can’t depend on my car?what about resale value - clearly i’ve got a real lemon here.where is my recourse?

2015 kia sorento awd engine seized. I was driving and without and warning the car shut down and wont start. I found out this is not new. Now i have to find out how to continue to take care of my wife and kids without a car. I've seen so many complaints about the engine i have and there has been noinvestigation and this is a dangerous situation recalls for the same thing have been sent out but not for the 2015 kia sorento. I really hope some one does something about this. I was on a busy road slowing down for a red light and car shut off almost hitting the car in front of me. Again no warnings. I also smelled smoke like wires burning.

Purchased this 2015 vehicle from a regional pa/nj reseller named carsense in november 2015 with 15,000 miles.maintained regular service and oil changes, although not always with castrol oil, as required for the carsense extended warranty.driving on the highway returning from the beach when the engine started a slight knock when accelerating.stopped and checked the oil level which was fine.just at 3,000 miles on the oil at the time.no check engine light.drove further and the check engine light came on and then the engine stalled.towed to a kia dealer and told engine was seized.as i am a second owner the 100,000 mile warranty did not apply.vehicle was 909 miles over the 60,000 mile warranty and not covered.escalated with kia consumer affairs who i chased for over a week with escalation requests.final answer ...we are sorry but the car is out of warranty.would not offer any relief on either parts or labor.replacing the engine to the tune of $5,400.00 including replacing a starter which mysteriously "burned up".we have found many similar stories with engine problems that are most likely related to the 2012-2014 2.4l engine recall.

Broughtin for oil change, tech found a coolant leak, replace thermostat housing unitfor $700, left dealer and next day coolant was pouring out as i drove. Retuned to shop and kia said there was a manufacturing issue with some heads and at the present time they are in the machine shop. Still don't know if it is covered by warranty on a car with only 57000 miles.

Takata recall. I have a 2015 kia sorento. At about 76,000 miles, the engine began to burn oil. I had it checked for a leak, but the mechanics couldn't find anything. When i start the engine, blue smoke emits from the tail pipe. I am loosing about a quart of oil every 200 miles.

I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph. The engine light started flashing and the car lost power. I was able to get to the shoulder. I tried getting to the next exit but even doing 15mph i could hear a noise in the engine. I shut the car off and called for a tow. The car was towed to my mechanic who looked at the car. He called to tell me i had engine failure. He called kia and gave them my vin. He said they confirmed my car was included in the engine failure group. I then had the car towed to the local kia dealership. A day later they confirmed that my car needed a new engine. They submitted things to kia. Told me it would take 3 business days for an answer.

I was driving down the highway when the battery light came on and the engine died.i had the vehicle towed to kia.the informed that the engine di not meet the recall requirements for replacement.the engines are obviously not well made and kia needs to replace them when they fail.thank you for your time.

2015 kia sorento with 44,000 miles. On the freeway and the motor locked up. Toast. Kia covering but has lesser value and they knew this motor was defective

Was driving on a busy intersection on 1/15/2019 around 2:30 pm and doing around 40mph the check engine light began flashing.a short while after the cel began flashing the car rpmsslowed down even though the car was in motion & i was pressing on the accelerator.the car behind me began honking their horn because my vehicle was slowing down.i tried to find a street where i could safely pull over.after dodging cars while the car was in a slow rpms motion i pulled over to a side street & shifted the gear to park but kept the engine running and tried to calm down.i decided to head home, after shifting from park to drive i stepped on the accelerator and the car was in motion but the rpms only reached 10mph even though i kept my foot on the gas. And slowly but surely the speed increased.the slow acceleration from a park and stop mode the car was slow to accelerate.the state of my component part or system is unknown.googled recalls for 2015 sorento's and found several websites pertaining to a recall on kia sorento's.however after contacting kia (1-800-333-4542) the representative informed me that my 2015 kia sorento wasnot part of the recall.since my car was only around 50,000 miles she informed me that it's still under warranty.i contacted my local kia dealership (1450 e camelback rd, phoenix, az 85014 602-388-1276) about the issue i am having.the service advisor erik informed me that he would have my car towed to their dealership and check out the issue.stated "it" "should be" covered since i was under 60,000.i'm waiting on what the mechanic finds and if the issue will be covered.

Engine failed at 118,813, no check engine light came on. I have maintanied my vehicle with all proper service since owning vehicle. The dealership is saying they will not cover the engine and want to charge me over $11,000 to replace.

Car multimedia system includes blue tooth radio a gpsstopped working and i can not use blue tooth and direction mapsmy mechanic asked the kia mechaniic and was told it is a common problem.

After replacing bulbs, headlights, especially low beams, are dangerously low. Very low visibility at night and even more difficult to see when there is oncoming traffic and when it is raining. This morning on my way into work it was raining and almost missed a curve in the road due to low visibility. I slowed to make the curve and hit a patch of water (again, because of the low visibility i did not see) and hydroplaned almost hitting a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Fortunately i did not overcorrect and regained control before a collision took place. There have been several other times when i could not see the turn coming up or entrances to exit ramps on the highway. My hope was that changing the bulbs would help, but even with getting the brightest bulbs at the auto part store, the lights are still just as dim. In doing research, i am finding that this is a comin issue with these vehicles.

Headlights are very dim. We have switched to new bulbs and then led and neither improve the dim headlights. The glass is not foggy or damaged.

The low beam headlights are dangerously dim.they also burn out about every 6 months.

Low beam headlights are dangerously dim. On mountain roads in vermont i needed high beams constantly to have reasonable sight distance. On interstate roads the low beams barely light 2-3 car lengths ahead of me.

I had to replace my drivers side headlight unit on my 2015 kia sorento at 62,000 miles. Could not replace just the lamp.

When my wife got this vehicle she told me she couldn't see the road at night i drove the vehicle and i couldn't see the road either so i went to kia and they placed new bulbs in there at first we thought everything was great but after a month it was back to being very dim at night. So i took it back to kia and they said it's your bulbs i'm like these are kia bulbs and so they recommended me to change the bulbs out so i did. Well once again after a month they were dim. I noticed the bulb burnt out . So i went to advance auto parts and bought new bulbs. The lights keep burning out so i believe there is something here that needs to be investigated whether it be electrical or something else. Thank you.

When trying to start the car, everything flickers like the battery is dying, then it will crank, but now all of the lights are on and won't go off and it is dinging like the keys are still in the ignition, but they aren't.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the headlights were dim and failed to produce adequate lighting. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified.the failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

Headlights keep prematurely burning out. I have replaced the headlight bulbs 4 times in 2.5 years. They have been replaced with both kia replacements, and aftermarket replacements. Makes no difference, they last 6-8 months. Fortunately both sides haven't burned out at the same time, it's usually 1 side then the other.

Keeps blowing out low beam head lites. Replaced four times in the last year. Took in to dealer to look at. Was told nothing they could do about it. I found out by online research that this is not just a couple reports. It is dangerous at nite we have to drive with daylites. Not bright enough for driving. It is a safety issue. Kia will not do anything to fix problem that is a safety issue.needs government investigation before someone gets killed.

The headlights are so dim that the road is not visible. My cars' light meter value is 77lu compaired to a nieghbors' headlight value of 489lu with the same lights.this low headlight output value makes this car unsafe to drive in low light situations and at night.the local port charlotte, florida dealers' service manager said that there was no problem with my headlights.p.s. The service manager did not use a light meter. He "eyeballed" it in the parking lot in daylight.

The headlights are very dimon my 2015 kia sorento, when compared to other vehicles.they only illuminate about 10 feet in front of the car.they need to be replaced with a stronger bulb as it is dangerous driving at night.

Car was driven a night and headlight were terrible. Vaguely lights a a road sign on a dark street at 100 yards. Both bulbs have been recently replaced. Seems to be very common with these cars. Contacted kia and got no help other than take to dealer and pay service fee. Others have received no help. Usual are told it is just the way these lights are. These light will not light a closed garage at night.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that the headlights on/off sensor failed to illuminate during night hours. The contact also stated that the headlight sensor failed to power off the headlights off during the day. The contact had to power off the headlights manually. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic replaced the headlight sensor, but the failure recurred. The vin was unavailable the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 800.

My low beam headlight hit a keep burning out prematurely. I bought the vehicle with 47000 miles, and it now has 106000. In not quite 60k miles i have replaced the low beam headlights 7 times. When replacing i have followed the owners manual procedure each time. A quick internet search of various online forums reveals that i am far from the only person experiencing this problem. When i brought the issue up to the service department at my dealer, they refused to acknowledge that there is any issue, and that replacing the lights this many times is just normal wear and tear. I have had multiple occasions where both low beams burned out simultaneously, making it necessary to use high beams just to get to a store and buy replacements. This is a very unsafe condition.

Low beam headlight bulbs frequently blow out.headlight assembly dust caps have been replaced, but the issue remains a problem.we have had to change headlight bulbs more than a dozen times in the last four years. These are the h7 bulbs that fit the standard 2015 sorento low beam headlight fixture.

Electrical connectors for headlights and taillights have been repeatedly defective. We have had non-working headlights and taillights and brake lights on multiple occasions. When replacing what we thought were failed, burned out lamps, the lamps would work again just because i had begun removing the lamp. The jostling of the connector was sufficient to "fix" the condition. We have taken the car into the dealer for a fix on more than one occasion. On one of those occasions, the dealer had to order parts, which took several days to arrive. On one of those occasions, we were charged $20 for replacing a bad lamp, which i am sure was not the cause of the problem. Driving with a defective headlight or taillight is a dangerous situation. We keep lamps on hand in the car, so that we can show a law enforcement officer that we have a replacement in case we should be stopped for a defective headlight, taillight or stop lamp.

Vehicle has low visibility on low beam, even with aftermarket leds there is still low visibility with the low beams, car need to be driven on high beam and it is illegal to drive with high beams as you blind cars driving on opposite direction, and a fine could be impose as well.

I logged into credit karma looking at my car details and saw there was a recall on the traction. Ive noticed my traction light on in the car; however, did not think anything of it as the button was pushed in as normal. The light is on consistently.

Head lights too dimmed/i have to use high lights often during my driving./happens during the night. It has happens any time i use the car at night.i hope his can change.not safe for driving at night.

The headlights on my car are dangerously dim. I have resorted to having to run my fog lights just to get enough light on the road. I've tried numerous types of after market lights and nothing makes them brighter. I believe this is a safety hazard that kia somehow missed.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at night, the low-beam headlights failed to adequately illuminate the roadway, causing a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was taken to wallace kia located at 3131 se federal hwy, stuart, fl 34994 who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer recommended that the headlights be upgrade to led lighting. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 25,000.

The headlights are extremely dim and are not reparable with bulb replacement. We were told the housing is flaking.

My complaint is the low beam on my 2015 kia sorento has very poor visibility and burns out too frequently. My local kia dealer doesn't even carry the replacement bulb for this vehicle. Told me to go buy it at walmart, which i did. However, one burned out within 4 months (i changed both at the same time per recommendation). Bought replacement again (cost $37.00) and before i had a chance to replace the other one burned out. I think this is a real safety issue due to the poor visibility (low lumens) and frequent burn out. Can you offer any advice? thank you.

Headlights will not come on. One will flicker on each time the headlight switch is turned on but will then slowly go out. No headlights is a safety issue! the key fob also has intermentent disfunction like the battery is going out but it is new battery. I have read other complaints with same issues. Headlight issue with bad connectors for this make model and year have been recalled but for some reason doesn't include my cars vin. Needs to be further investigated to include more vin.

Low beam headlights are dangerously too dim on my 2015 kia sorento lx. This is a well known reported issue by many owners.all drivers in my family had many close calls due to poor visibility when driving in the night.yes i have changed lightbulbs several times, made sure that lenses and reflectors are clean and ground wire is not corroded.a simple search on the internet will tell you the extent of this problem.many have reached to dealers and kia but they are told -this is normal.well it is absolutely not normal. Itā€™s dangerous. Feeling helpless.lx trim level donā€™t have fog lights too.do something please.

The passenger tail light went dim (while braking) and then stopped working (only when braking).replacing the bulb does not fix the problem.kia dealer says they will have to put on a machine and they think its an internal computer issue.i have noticed many other sorento's with the exact same tail light out when braking.

When driving at night, the headlights are very dim and do not project far enough ahead to see the road to be able to see. The bright lights must be on in order to properly see, however they too are not what they should be. The bright lights when on, are more of what the dims should be. All new headlights(bulbs) were installed and did not make any difference. The car has been like this ever since it was purchased. It is unsafe to drive it at night, especially when it is extremely dark at night and/or driving in wet/fog or snowy weather. Lights are so dim you would be unable to see deer far enough in advance to safely slow down and avoid them. This problem is the case on all roads except city streets that are lighted. I purchased this vehicle on 11/22/2019

Headlights keep burning out. I've replaced the driver's side low-beam bulb seven times in the last year and the passenger side twice. Both are currently blown out again.

The headlights hi and low are not bright enough to provide for a more safe visible drive.

I have changed the headlights in my 2015 kia sorenta over 6 times. I am the original owner and seldom drive at night because i am elderly. How can i get this problem fixed. Last night we drove from ohio to virginia with dim and no headlights. Again. Time after time, no head lights. And yes i buy the higher priced high quality recommended light bulbs. This is unsatthis is a major problem

Low beam lights go off/on randomly. Sometimes will work for a while and then one or both lights will go out. When the dust cover is removed and the light socket assembly is touched, then light will come on. However, moving the wires or socket assembly does not cause light to go out. Then the light later randomly goes off. Also, i have replaced many low beam bulbs. This is a serious safety problem.

The low-beam headlight has a loose connection. The bulb is good, but the connection is not. You can move the connection and the light comes on, but the bulb/connection moves again and the light goes out. This can create a dangerous situation. I have seen numerous complaints about this.

Poor visibility from the headlights at night, passengers constantly asking id headlights are on. In addition have to regularly replace headlight bulbs every six months.

My low beams are very dim and it is very hard to see the road at night.i can't see to drive at night.

Night time driving is difficult with the head lights. Brights are very bright and will light up 300+ feet. Normal lights will light up maybe 20ft. It is mainly challenging to see when there are no street lights or other vehicles on the road.

The low beams headlights are not bright at all you can't see when driving down the road, it's really dangerous when you you're turning corners because they are not bright so you can't see people crossing the street.also if you turn off you headlights when driving down the road the dashboard is still visible so you can't tell if your headlights are on or off.

Very dim low beam headlights.cannot see road.

Headlight low beam bulbs continue to burn out. I have replaced three bulbs in the last six months. Obviously, there is a short somewhere. I have searched the internet for answers and have only found countless of other kia owners reporting the same problem.this is a safety issue because the headlights will burn out and inhibit your ability to drive safely at night.

The dim headlights in the 2015 kia sorento have burnt out multiple times. I have replaced the headlamps 4 times in a 15 month window. I am uncertain when the actual lamps burn out, but i do notice as i am driving. I do not have an auto feature on my car for the headlights so i manually turn them on before i drive. The first occurrence of this happened in march of 2018 and has burnt out multiple times since.

Low beam lights are dangerously dim.constantly have to use high beams when safe to do so.have to change them every six months or so because they one or the other stops working.have had it checked out for this problem and they cannot find an issue.may have to trade this car in due to this dangerous situation.very frustrating!

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at night, the headlamps were too dim, and the contact was unable to see the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they informed the contact that the headlamp assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 153,048.

High pressure fuel line fittings determined to be defective and not fitting correctly. Line(s) became detached causing near catastrophic fuel spill in crowded parking lot.

My kia lost power while driving on march 17, 2017 on the highway.after kia replaced the motor i realized that during cold weather my car won't start at all.i've had several diagnostic tests done but nothing shows up.i've even had the manager of the service department come to my location with the diagnostic device, because i was once again stranded and had just paid to have the machine put on my vehicle the day before.again nothing showed up.it only happens during cold hard freeze weather.i've filed a report with kia and to this day no one has contacted me.next issue is a clicking noise while driving vehicle coming from the steering wheel and of course it's not covered.lastly, i just recently noticed that the smell of gasoline coming through the vents after filling the car with car and driving minutes later there's a strong smell of gasoline throughout the whole car.kia has the worst customer service.they wont give you a rental car nor do they return or follow up on complaints.

My friend was on the highway, travelling along and heard a noise. Then she saw smoke coming from under the car along side drivers door.the car then lost acceleration and stopped. Within five minutes the car caught fire and is totalled out. An off duty lawman stopped to help her. He told her either the fuel lineor fuel pump burst and told her we have grounds for lawsuit against kia for faulty design. My friend is in total distress over this incident and deserves compensation for emotional distress. I feel like kia owes me big money too, because i bought car for her to be legal in hauling her six children in car. We cannot afford to replace the car due to high lien on car at time of fire, and yet i feel obligated to provide friend with legal and dependable car for the family's use. Will this agency help us get compensated from kia please? there are records of more of kia's cars catching on fire, even in dealer lots. Thank you

V6 engine stalls randomly when accelerating into or across traffic. .kia service dept. Unable to find cause with using electronic testing equipment. Stalling is random and unable to replicate with service dept personnel.a real safety issue.

My mom has been having issue after issue.. First the passenger air bag light and battery after power steering making noices ..brakes not responding and now fuel injection problems.

Egine stalls and ac on stallsand has died 3times

Tl ' the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento.while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact was flagged by another motorist and noticed fuel leaking from the front end of the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that there was a leak at the fuel pump inlet.the fuel pump was cleaned and re-attached.the manufacturer was notified.the approximate failure mileage was 2,744.jcc

A jerks when you trying to park when you going slow on the parking lot it has a kool 2098 fuel trim it keeps idling high and i'm stalling

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle went into "safe mode" and decelerated to 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the fuel pump failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the failure mileage was 1,000. The vin was unavailable.

Car lost acceleration power heardloud sound and car will not accelerate properly transmission was changed due to a faulty transmission at dealership cost, and now transmission has failed again. This happened while mergingonto thei-210 was able to safely exit highway and park it. Will have it towed to dealership asap hoping they will repair drivetrain or replace vehicle.

Car jerks into 1st gear when stopping at a light and accelerating.car gets stuck in 4th gear and will not accelerate until it reaches 4th gear speeds.very dangerous to be trying to get up to highway speeds and car not wanting to accelerate beyond 10-20mph.car is not safe to drive.took to a kia dealership and they said they couldn't replicate.i told them to drive the car more and they were able to replicate, however no check engine light has appeared so kia dealership is telling me they can't do anything.they told me to keep driving it and bring it in if it gets worse.i do not feel safe driving this vehicle anywhere.car has 67,000 miles on it and i am the second owner since 10,000 miles. I have done all maintenance that is required/needed all at the dealership.

We went to get oil changed and they said if they change oil the engine will exploed . They said our vehicle had recall on it

Driving from alamogordo nm to el paso tx which is about 90 miles distance with my two kids the engine made an awful sound and stopped. I was by a pep boys service center and they checked it out. They found that the engine locked up! the suv only has 71150 miles on it! now i'm on foot and don't know what else to do! any help?

2015 kia sorento with 44,000 miles. On the freeway and the motor locked up. Toast. Kia covering but has lesser value and they knew this motor was defective

Was driving down interstate at 65 and felt like hit a wall me and my 2 children's head flew forward car went down to 15 mph and rpms skyrocketedwould not go over 15 pulled over to side of road shut off car and let sit restarted car would not go over 15 mph or shift no lights ever illuminated on dashboard and still have not will be getting towed monday as this happened on saturday night

The car seizes, and jerks, like a missfire. It scares me.

While driving around town traveling approximately 35 mph i went to accelerate and the rpms went up but there was no increase acceleration. I momentarily lifted my foot off the gas and then attempted to accelerate again andthe car accelerated. This is the third time it has happen in the past three months. The vehicle has 43,237 miles on it and i have owned it for the past five months.

I had oil changed at the mechanic shop. A week later i drove in the city, the oil light came on and off. Then the car just shut down. I had it restarted and went home. I checked the oil it was almost gone.took it back to the shop. They checked everything again and couldn't find anything wrong with it. No leaks. They don't know what went wrong.i contactedthe other mechanic. He immediately knew what was wrong with it.he had other customers with same problems. It is the powertrain. We have to add oil weekly to keep oil inside.. It keeps burning up.

While on the highway going speed limit of 75 the kia started to slow down on its own. It would not go past 40mph in a 75. Once's in town the car was ok because the speed limit was below 40.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated from the time the vehicle was purchased, it would make an abnormal popping sound when started and while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the check engine warning light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken backto the dealer several times and the dealer diagnosed that the oil and the transmission needed to be replaced, and advised the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair since the warranty had expired. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to kia of streetsboro (835 classic dr, streetsboro, oh 44241) who diagnosed that the transmission and the steering wheel had failed. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired.the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 21v331000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the dealer informed the contact that they were not aware of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vin did not exist. A case was opened and closed. The approximate failure mileage was 300. Parts distribution disconnect.

Driving home end of work day every thing was normal driving down 66 and check engine light came on then .5 miles later lost powertower home has been making popcorn like sounds from engine being told it's the pistons

My vehicle had termers, engine light came on dealer tells me it is the transmission. We paid not including tax 16,400,we bought the car from a kia dealer.i am sure they have an issue with this vehicle. A transmission company said they have a problem. Please help. The dealer was fuccillo kia of clay ny.

I had to ride in my own backseat for the first time today. The rear seat belt goes across my neck and i am 5 foot 8 inches. Looked over at my daughter who is 5 foot and it was just as bad for her.

The contact owned a 2015 kia sorento. While the contact's vehicle was at a complete stop at a red light, another vehicle failed to stop and rear ended the contact's vehicle. The crash pushed the contact's vehicle into the intersection. The driver's seat separated from the base and caused the driver's seat to move backwards and forward, causing the driver's body to strike the rear passenger and driver's seat railings, the driver's window, driver's door, and dashboard. The driver suffered injuries to the neck, head, and face. The contact was seated in the front passenger seat and suffered seat belt bruises and lower back pain. The driver and passenger side air bags failed to deploy. The driver required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a collision shop. A police report was filed. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

When using the cooling seat option it does not work on the passenger side.when we took it in for service we were informed ' that is as good as it gets'.we were told that the air bag sensor blocks over 50% of the holes in the seat. They only way to fix would be to remove the air bag sensor and that is against federal regulations.we can feel no cooling what so ever on that side.

Kia sorento less then 5000 miles water around vin number on dash also leaking into the floor. Dealer tried to say build of leaves around windshield is the cause. If that is the cause then there is a design problem with these cars. I believe they are saying that due to they can't not find out where the problem is. Also when car sits over night and it has rain the brakes scrub like they rusted overnight. Both of these problems were turned into the service department with out no determination as to why they are doing this. Also the service department trying to make up reasons for their own inept work.

Our vehicle has 32k miles on it and the rotars are already worn down. The vehicle starts shaking when movin and braking. We bought this car new from a dealership. Did we buy a car with defective rotars. When turning the steering wheel while moving on a city street it often makes a cracking sound.

The braking system malfunctioned. I had to press down extremely hard to get the vehicle to stop.0507

A few months back, maybe osept/oct my abs light, tire pressure light came on (yellow) and i had it checked and they said it was a wheel sensior and its very costly so as of yet it hasnt been fixed. Now yesterday my brake light at the bottom of my dash came on (red) and its a double and said break. I dont know why im having so many problems with this car but it will be my last kia. I own 2 and both have had problems and i keep both serviced on time and get what is needed done

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the rear drivers side wheel had malfunction and would not turn causing the driver to loose control of the steering and crash. During the crash the vehicle rolled over multiple times. The driver sustained a fractured spine, head, neck and chest injuries. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. A police report was taken at the scene. The local dealer morrie mazda located address: 2329 s prairie view rd, chippewa falls, wi 54729 and the manufacturer were both notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Vehicle stopped engine running brake pedal goes to floorboard. Dealer states this happens and demonstrated 3 similar vehicles brake pedal goes to floor. My experience and training indicates this condition is unsafe and master or wheel cylinder or disk brake piston may be leaking. Another area can be master cylinder internally leaking or abs internally leaking. I called kia corporate customer service and after listening to my concern he said he has no technical support to address my concern and to go back to dealer. However, i had earlier gone to dealer for a brake inspection 'brake pedal travels too low'. I was charged 70$ and told everything is fine!i feel i am chasing my tail here. Is there no standard that says peale pedal cannot go so low that gas pedal is also engaged if foot overlaps accelerator pedal? pretty scary if you push brake pedal and it creeps low enough that gas is applied and they are fighting!two months ago i was told that if gas and brake were observed by computer the default was to shut off engine to idle. Yes this was happening several times trying to get onto freeway.hit gas engine dies if brake pedal touched when trying to merge onto traffic! now i can hit gas and brake at same time and they fight each other. Help!

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle smoke was present coming fromunder the hood. Upon inspection it was determined that the brake fluid was leaking onto the exhaust manifold. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer coral springs kia located at 9330 w atlantic blvd, coral springs, fl 33071 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the vehicle was recently inspected under the nhtsa recall campaign number 20v519000(service brakes) but the failure had occurred after the recall inspection was performed. The failure mileage was 224,000.

My son was pulled over and the officer said there were no operating rear lights.noticed that you have to turn them on and off to come on. Then on another day there were no brakes gets lights either. I informed southwest kia mesquite of the problem. They said that it was the light switch because one of their other models have the same issue and there was a recall on that model. They charged me to fix this saying although it was recalled in their other model the sorento was not recalled. After they installed they said i should have no problems with the lights and brake lights. They even did another insepction a week or so later (12/20/2019) saying that my car was safe to travel and everything was fine. While on the road trip with my family we noticed that the two main brake lights were not working and the cruise control was not working. We tried turning lights on and off and they still didnt work. Kia has placed my family in danger. We are out of state and have no way of getting the car back to texas safely. Kia has exhausted all of my money and they have not fixed anything.the car is unsafe. I googled and found thatb a lot of people are driving around with kia's with no brake lights. They wont own up that something is wring with the sorento, cruise control system, back and brake lights.my rear lights shut off in the middle of driving.is kia waiting for fatalities before they deal with this safety issues with the sorento?how mucch longer are they going to continue to rip people off and leave them and their families unsafe? i transport kids as i am a child protective services caseworker and this vehicle is not safe for anyone. Its unfortunate that kia has exhausted all of my funds that i can'trent nor get another car while out of state for christmas stuck on the road.

My mom has been having issue after issue.. First the passenger air bag light and battery after power steering making noices ..brakes not responding and now fuel injection problems.

Car re-experienced power loss and steering failure as previously reported to nhtsa id: 11244200. This time we narrowly missed a tree and only the right passenger tire made an impact on side of the road/mountain. Side curtain airbags deployed i have been in contact with kia about the ongoing issues repairs were made previously under warranty. Car was returned with engine power loss/ intermittent loss of power and unresponsive steering. My son required 2 stitches. And my military injuries have been aggravated. Car insurance claim started after the incident. The symptoms have been intermittent and dealership refused the car yesterday stating an open case with kia pending a buyback. Car has been towed to a geico authorized repair facility for inspection and repair.

The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where she was informed that there was a technical service bulletin on the vehicle for the steering column. The contact then took the vehicle to gossett kia (1900 covington pike, memphis, tn 38128) where she was informed that a diagnostic test needed to be performed to determine the cause for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

This car is very hard to steer!it wanders left and right, i constantly have to keep making corrections.it will not go straight.it is dangerous!i can not make it go straight. Driving it requires continuous corrections, when you do try to correct the steering over corrects and you go drift the other direction.it is very fatiguing !the electronic steering does not work! on my first call to the dealership they told me to put it in "sport" mode.this did nothing.i see that others have been told this so kia knows that it does not work and this is their fix ?this happens at all speeds. Even turning corners requires making corrections because it will over turn.

About a week after i purchased my sorento i notice that my vehicle wouldstray to the left on the freeway. When i attempted to correct the steering the vehicle would over correct and almost go into the right lane. It felt like the car had a mind of its own and was steering on its own. I brought it back to the kia dealership three times, but they could not duplicate the problem. I filed a compliant with the state of florida under the lemon law and had a hearing with kia motor of america and a arbitrationjudge again the problem could not be duplicated. I was advised that i would have to live with this problem until kia could find a solution and complete a recall process. I have noticed that there are several other kia sorento steering complaints on file already. So i would like to register my complaint today. My sorentowas always in motion and at different speeds. And on the highway the problem always occurred at speeds between 40 and 70 mph.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While the contact's spouse was driving approximately 15 mph, the steering wheel detached from the steering column without warning. The contact stated that the driver was able to push down on the steering wheel and the functionality returned. The vehicle was taken to bev smith kia of stuart (located at 3131 se federal hwy, stuart, fl 34994, (772) 283-1743) to be inspected. The contact was informed that the mechanic failed to torque the nut that held the steering wheel in place after replacing the clockspring in the steering wheel. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000. The vin was not available.

Bearings, suspension and steering issue: took car to get tire changed and ever since the bearins and steering is off. Steering wheel shakes once i try to go faster than 55 mph.

My paint has consistently been peeling over the last few years, mainly on the front of my sorento & its beginning to rust where some of the paint has come off. I purchased the vehicle in december of 2015.

As found with many other complaints online regarding the sorento, the parts inside the door handle broke and the door handle fell off when i attempted to open the door. All the parts inside, including the door handle are plastic and, apparently defective. You cannot get into your car. If the handles fall off while driving, it can hit a following car and possibly cause a casualty.

While i was driving on the highway in the rain, i noticed small objects hitting my windshield. Once the vehicle was parked i noticed there were several points on the body of my car that the paint start peeling. No rocks or other objects were hit during the drive just faulty paint (kia sorento 2015 pearl white) on the body of the car. It has since become worse in these areas with rust starting to form in certain spots and continues to hit the windshield during driving.

The paint on my 2015 kia sorento coming off in numerous spots throughout the vehicle. The worst spot is just above the windshield on the passenger side. I'm afraid this will lead to the bare metal rusting, causing leakage around the windshield or even worse, weakening the integrity of the roof and the area surrounding the windshield. The vehicle is painted white metallic.i have noticed many other white kia productshaving similar issues. I contacted me dealership and was told they are aware of the problems but it's not a recall.we purchased the extended bumper to bumper warrantee but we were told by the dealership that paint isn't included.i first noticed the issue in the first few years of ownership but the issues have continued to get bigger and have occurred in other places on the vehicle.

The paint on the vehicle is peeling rapidly. It originally appeared to possibly be a chip but it is happening all over the vehicle and continues to spread. The vehicle is washed regularly and there is no reason the paint should be peeling like this.

Got home after driving 20 minutes from work and i notice a good portion of the white paint has peeled off on the passenger side a-pillar by the windshield. Upon close inspection, the paint looks like it's chipping off and eventually getting peeled from the body by the wind while driving. Nothing appears to have hit the area and it was a clean peel of the paint

I own a 2015 kia sorento lx awd and it's painted in the pearl white finish, over the last year the paint has been peeling off on the hood and the top edge closest to the windshield, and it's even started rusting in those spots now, which range in from the size of a match tip, to the size of my palm.

I was driving straight in a grain silo town in kansas (coming up on oakley from colorado springs) and there were no cars around me. The weather wasn't drastically changing and there was no adverse weather. Suddenly, it sounds as though there was an explosion on the top of my car. The fabric partition that separates the sunroof from the interior of the car starts shaking violently in the wind and there was some glass shards that fell into the car. It goes without saying that the incident scared both me and my two kids who were in the car with me. I pulled over to the closest gas station and took a look at the damage (seen in the picture below). As i had the rest of my road trip to accomplish (kansas city, mo), my husband met me in oakley, ks with his car and we made the exchange. I am a very meticulous driver who inspects everything before a road trip: tire pressure, window cracks, interior is intact, drastic change in weather along the trip, etc. I would have never thought to look at the sunroof and even if i did, i'm not sure i would have found anything. If i were driving on a major highway i could write this whole incident off as maybe a stray rock. However, there was nothing around me.

The pearl white paint is peeling off around the windshield front pillars and hood while driving down highway

Paint is delaminating and peeling at the top and side of the windshield. So badly that i'm afraid to wash it! it's starting to rust now from it. It is consistently getting worse without me even touching it.

My cars paint is chipping off. Kia said it is due to car was chemicals. However i was my car by had or get it washed at kia dealers. The paint flakes off during driving or heavy wind. It is peeling off around the windshield which if it starts to rust the whole windshield could come unglued and fly off possibly causing harm to the driver or other cars. I have tried to work with kia about this issue with no results. I think there is a defect in the paint because paint should not be chipping/peeling off like it is. There is also rusting in the paint under the clear bra that is on the hood. Which is also a defect in the paint and could lead to rusting of the metal hood

I have a 2015 kia sorento white pearl finish. Paint started chipping on it last year and just noticed a few weeks ago after washing it that chunks of paint started coming off above the windshield and on the hood. I had just fixed chipping above the windshield a week prior.

2015 kia sorento paint peeling & chipping away from door pillars, roof where windshield meets, both let & right front fenders, hood. The color is "snow while pearl". Started to norice small chipping around 2017 & in april 2019 a large piece peeled off the passenger side front pillar which i had repaired. Many of the chips were touched up but it continues to occur to this day.

My white paint is chipping horribly!!!

I have a pearl white kia sorento and the paint is peeling and flaking badly in several areas.it is progressively getting worse and it makes the vehicle look terrible.

My 2015 kia sorento's pearl white paint is now coming off in large chunks.my insurance company did review the claim i filed, however, they noted that this situation has been reported numerous times with the same pearl white paint.they did not cover my claim because they have determined this is a defect in the paint since there are so many other similar complaints.the integrity of my vehicle is compromised once large chunks of paint are coming off on a daily basis under normal sunny skies.if i have to drive through any type of rain or heavy winds even more paint starts to come off.the paint is coming off down to the bare metal and now exposed areas are starting to rust.

The clips on the rear passengers door panel has broken causing the panel to stick out. This is making it so that the door won't open.the car was stationary on a city street.

Original white pearl paint on body of car is peeling off in big chunks, there must be a problem with the paint or painting process kia used

Paint is peeling off with no known cause, progressively worsening with time.

The kia paint on my white pearl kia sorento has been peeling and rusting. This has been going on since 2017 and beginning at about 40k miles. I can't believe how many other white kias are doing the same thing. The patches are getting worse and peeling in big chunks now. My car is only 5 years old and told by kia this is not covered. I am disappointed in kia for not taking fault on clearly cheap paint placed on all white pearl kias.

Starting a year ago, the paint on my 2015 vehicle (less than 60k miles) began to flake off. I have the kia pearl white color and my story is consistent with the hundreds of other cases online. The paint flakes off with pressure from a garden hose. I keep my car clean and detailed (twice a year). There are no dents or marks at any of the locations validating that this isn't damage from a rock or road debri. I have taken my car to several paint and body shops and they all recommend the paint be removed completely as my only option of repair because the orginal paint is not bonded properly to the body. Kia refuses to admit that this is a defect.

The paint on the top of my car started chipping started as a spot then spread it seemed to bubble up and blow off in the wind had it fixed - now the pain on my hood is doing the same

My paint began to peal around the frame of the windshield. When i inquired at kia, they claimed that because it was a pre-owned car and i had past my warranty of mileage (because it was a pre-owned car) there is nothing they can do for me. I inquired at a local paint shop and was informed that the seal failed over the paint, causing a de-lamination issue. Clear evidence shows that my car has never been re-painted and this is in fact a manufacturer malfunction. However, kia still refuses to assist or take ownership of this defect. Meanwhile, my car continues to peel at a rapid pace. Even when i take to get my car serviced, mechanics are unable to perform routine maintenance due to the paint chipping off in their tape and other supplies.

Paint delaminating, not due to rock chip or weather. Is very common in this specific paint color on this specific model (pearl white, kia sorento)

I noticed my 2015 kia sorento with white pearl paint is chipping and coming off in several places. I have fixed a few with yhe kia white pearl touch up paint. I noticed today three more areas that are chipping. Two above the windshield and one large chipping area on the hood. The chip on the hood looks like it is bubbling up. This is not rock damage.

Roof rail detached on highway while hauling kayak, speed 30 mph. Gust of crosswind.rail is plastic and the flanges on the end are held on by two screws at each end on the out side edge only.plastic at that point is paper thin.inside edge of flange is not attached at all. This allows the rail to roll off to the outside with very little pressure, ripping out the screws on the outer edge.i tried the rail on the other side and by pulling out i could lift up the inner edge and could have ripped it off by hand with a little more pressure.fortunately no oncoming traffic was hit.i feel this is a definite safety issue.rail is rated at 220 lbs by kia.total weight of kayak was 70lbs.

The pearl white paint on my 2015 kia sorrento is peeling off.small areas around the windshield started at first and now the sides of the windshield are coming off in larger sections. All of these areas are starting to show signs of rust as well. Additionally, there are several small spots on the hood of the vehicle which are showing signs of rust as well. This is progressively getting worse over time and i am not doing anything to the vehicle (not even washing in fear of more coming off) at this point.

Clear coat coming off the front bumper. I'm still paying for this car and bought it off the lot.

The paint is blowing off.

My 2015 kia sorrento has paint that is chipping off in large chunks around the winshield and the hood. This issue has been happening for a couple of years now. I spoke with kia consumer assurance and they informed me that the only models covered is 2011-2014. I purchased my kia sorrento in april 2014, although it is a 2015 model. I want to make a formal complaint regarding this model. I have seen others with the same issue in this area.

The white pearl paint on our 2015 kia sorento has been chipping and delaminating.it's occurring all over the car's body but mainly on the hood, roof, and passenger side of the windshield.the damage started occurring in 2019.

White pearl paint peeling

At around 59,000 mile the paint around the windshield started chipping away. It now is at almost 83,000 miles and the spots have begun to rust. Driving peels the paint. If there is a heavy thunder storm with high winds it peels the paint. I have gone to the dealership to see if they could resolve the issue and they told me that it was peeling and rusting is because i was going through car washes and the chemicals that are used caused the issue. I only ever had the dealership wash my car or at home. The undercoat is also peeling which i believe is why the car is now rusting. It is a defective product and should not be used on any other vehicles.

There is no incident or cause. The paint from the hood and top is coming off in big flakes.

The paint from the roof of my 2015 white kia sorento is peeling off and rusting is underneath. I started about 6 months ago with a little spot and now has become a big spot. There are also 2 other spots that have started.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While entering the vehicle, the contact's foot inadvertently struck the front driver seat rail which was moved backwards. As a result, the contact sustained a laceration on one of the toes and required medical attention. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Around 46,000 miles paint starting peeling off roof just above windshield and a few spots on front fender and elsewhere. Kia won't cover repair says it is past 3 years or 36,000 miles. I complained its bad paint job to have this happen so soon.

'takata recall' my drivers side back door quit opening!! this is a safety hazard if i got into an accident and needed to use that door to get out i couldn't. Not to mention my children cannot use that door to enter or exit my vey anymore. I don't know why this happened but i have seen videos of the same thing happening to other kia sorentos on line. I will not fix this on my own i fell like this is a safety recall on the behalf of kia. I'm still paying on this car i both it brand new it's a 2015 model. This happened aproxmently 1 1/2 months ago. I didn't know how to report it until now. I also fell this is why there isn't a recall on it yet because no one knows how to report. Thank you.

The pearl white paint is chipping off of my kia sorento on the windshield pillars, above the windshield and the hood and various other locations.... The paint finish is faulty and was not properly applied

I have had complete engine failure while driving and also paint chipping in several areas.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving 35 mph, the contact's vehicle struck the preceding vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The dealer stated that the front bumper was being held in place by wire and hot glue. The front bumper needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the issue was between the contact and the dealer. The failure mileage was 7,000.

Our 2015 kia sorento lx with touring package was parked in our driveway when the tailgate window exploded and shattered all over the driveway.fortunately no one was in or next to it at the time.vehicle is back at fucilla kia dealership for repair.it is only one week since we picked up the brand new car and it is already in the shop for repair...not a good omen and we are not happy.

Bearings, suspension and steering issue: took car to get tire changed and ever since the bearins and steering is off. Steering wheel shakes once i try to go faster than 55 mph.

After engine replacement the car has a major loss of power that occurs intermittently. When accelerating the car will stutter and slow down i live in the mountains and there are a lot of blind corners that are safe to navigate when the vehicle responds properly. I have almost been tboned by oncoming vehicles traveling at an excessive speed around those corners due to the loss of power the vehicle has suffered due to poor repairs and faulty engine

I was driving on a rural highway, on a saturday morning, sun shining and a brisk 70 degrees, when i heard what i thought was a gunshot and my ears ringing from the sound.my sunroof started shattering and then raining glass down into my car.i thought maybe something had hit my car and stopped as soon as safe.needless to say i was scared to death.i immediately took my car to the kia dealership because my roof was blown open.i called the insurance company to make a claim and they will fix my sunroof.i then saw online that this was an issue with a kia sorento and just want people to know that this exploding sunroof is happening and it is scary and dangerous!

Intermittently and unpredictably, my v6 sorrento just loses all power when trying to accelerate. This occurs when trying to accelerate from a stop or slow roll, but not when moving along at over, say, 20 mph.obviously, this can be a very dangerous thing when trying to cross or pull out onto a street when thereā€™s oncoming traffic. The car will move just enough to place it in the path of oncoming traffic and then nothing more until after iā€™ve released and depressed the accelerator enough times for it to finally decide go.the car has been to the dealer several times for this, and theyā€™ve had no remedy. They said that they couldnā€™t do anything because they couldnā€™t duplicate the problem, which is no surprise because itā€™s totally unpredictable. Iā€™ve had the car into the dealer for this enough times that they finally opened a case with kia corporate, who also had no answers.my private mechanic found a service bulletin (online, and not from kia) that said a hose in the fuel system was the issue. After i took the car back to the dealer yet again and told them about the bulletin, they supposedly checked the hose and said that it was okay, but they didnā€™t try replacing it. After all that iā€™d been through dealing with this, the dangerous situations it has put me in numerous times, and the fact that they had no answers, it seems to me that they should at least have tried replacing the hose. Iā€™ve been dealing with this for years, and it's disconcerting and dangerous to not be able to trust the car. The car is a 2015 sorrento sx v6 that i bought in july of 2017 with 31,094 miles on it, and i paid extra to have it ā€œcertified.ā€¯there is a thread on kia-forums.com where others have expressed having the same issue, also with no resolution.thank you.

Engine failure due to metal filings in oil said by dealer to be related to bearings. Same issue the 2014 kia sorento was recalled for. My car was made at the same alabama plant in 2014 but is a 3.3l. No one can tell me how many warranties have been rejected or honored for engine replacement. The feds are investigating if kia recalled enough cars. Did they? my car was made in the us..but shipped and sold in canada. Asking for information on this problem as reported. Thank you. This is a major safety issue.

Driving on mild summer day (~70). Lightly-packed cartop carrier affixed properly/safely to kia crossbars (installed by kia). Driving on interstate highway with "passing lane" traffic (about 75mph). Running ac at about 70 inside, with all windows up. Panoramic sunroof closed, with inner soft sunshade also closed. About three hours into five hour drive. Suddenly, without any visual warning (e.g., rock, shard), we hear an *explosion* sound from above, along with the sound of glass clanging everywhere and the rush of highway air. I quickly switch my hazards on, decelerate, and pull off the road as quickly as i can. I noticed that no neighboring vehicles as much as flinched during the incident, nor did anyone stop ... As if nothing appeared to have happened externally from their point of view.when we got out to investigate, we saw that the front major pane of the panoramic sunroof had completely shattered center-out, probably about 2sqft of glass missing. Notably, several edges around the newly-formed hole were upturned.those are all the details i can remember. My very strong belief is that the sunroof exploded without any external debris involved. The position of the cartop carrier relative to the hole, my vehicle's position relative to other cars/trucks (not terribly close), the fact that i saw no object hurtling toward the vehicle prior to the incident, the fact that no object was found in between the roof and the inner sunshade, the fact that no other cars/trucks behind me reacted ... All the signs point to something simply being wrong with the vehicle.

Transmission taking time to load or not picking at initial move until you press more gas pedal.

I purchased my kia in april of this year. A few weeks after the purchase i noticed a burning smell. I pulled over to investigate but could not find where the smell was coming from. I continued to notice the smell after the first incident and there was no pattern to cause the smell to happen. I brought the kia in for service to find the problem. Kias mechanic said they could not duplicate the smell and they couldnt find the problem.i insisted something was wrong and asked them to search farther. I got another call from the mechanic saying they couldnt duplicate the smell and to basically bring the car in if its actually smoking or on fire. I contacted the corporate office and after their investigation i got a call saying based on the dealerships report they couldnt determine a cause for the burning smell and the case was closed.i have 3 kids 2 in car seats. My self and others continue to smell the burning. Iam terrified everytime im in the kia. I feel i was sold a death trap and kia doesnt care. I feel they wont do anything until the car is literally on fire and then it will be too late.

I have a pearl white kia sorento and the paint is peeling and flaking badly in several areas.it is progressively getting worse and it makes the vehicle look terrible.

My car shows airbag signal however i never involve in any kind of accident and also when i turn on ac it blow hot air and my backup camera not working

Horrid smell coming from ac. Last summer it smelled like vinegar, this spring, cat urine. I took it to the dealer to have the system cleaned/deodorized for $65. Sadly didnt help.they are taking it back to delve into cleaning the evaporator? i hope it doesnt cost more, but there are so many accounts of this on kia....people getting headaches from the mold, aggravating kids's asthma....talk of a law suit, etc. Kia had better buck up and fix this!i called kia consumer complaints...they are "not aware" of the problem...tho there was a technical service bulletin (tbs) on older kia's about this. Basically, they have continued with a bad design.....but people will get sick having that blow in their faces!please log your complaint at:https://ksupport.kiausa.com/consumeraffairs

The paint is blowing off.

Abs lights keep coming on and off when taking it to the shop the code reader is giving no codes

Back passenger soor only opens under extreme pulling on handle or pushing from inside hard...the inside frame comes loose and then we bank it back in place with ones fist....next time ,,,,it sticks again!!vehicle parked of course.

Sooo many complaints of kia doors not opening from the inside.kia is not issuing a voluntary recall of this. They should asap!as soon as someone's car catches fire and they can't get the doors open, there will be serious lawsuits.if you are under warranty when this happens, you are good to go. But one by one, the doors stop working....and if out of warranty, dealers want $400+ per door lock.it would behoove kia to fix these asap before some child gets trapped inside.go to cargurus.com and you will see all the complaints.

I logged into credit karma looking at my car details and saw there was a recall on the traction. Ive noticed my traction light on in the car; however, did not think anything of it as the button was pushed in as normal. The light is on consistently.

Sunroof exploded going down the highway.

Car shut off repeatedly in the middle or driving and the car shakes.the car will not go over 60 while driving.

Pearl white paint is peeling from the base coat. Started peeling at 90k miles. Paint warranty ended at 40k miles. There is a current lawsuit in progress on this issue. I am not a part of that yet.

2015 kia sorento 2.4 has had light bulb replaced twice in the year

The exterior handle cap fell off of my vehicle. It keeps the door handle in place. It is not covered under the warranty but when i searched, hundreds of other kia owners had the same issue, some were brand new. The part is $10 but kia wanted to charge 60 plus $100 for labor. This part fell off while i was driving which eventually caused the door handle to fall off while driving.

While driving my car to work after a software update at a local dealership it became sluggish and difficult to drive. I was just coming off a local highway onto a surface street when this occurred. I pulled over and checked the icon on my dashboard in my car's manual. It told me not to drive it so i had it towed to the dealer - 6 weeks ago! apparently the software update they did to protect my car damaged it instead.i have been in weekly contact with the dealership but they are getting very little information or help from kia, who apparently can't figure out how to fix my car.i am now concerned about the damage being done to my car sitting for that long without being driven and now i wonder if this will cause more problems in the future.not happy with kia's inability to fix my car.i bought it used so it doesn't fall under the lemon law and i need to know if i have any legal recourse.i have made 2 car payments with a third coming up since it has been sitting at the dealer waiting for whatever decision they end up making.the dealer has been great about it and provided me with a rental, but this is all getting old real fast!

Car was parked,i locked the child safety lock,on back door now it will not open, this should be a safety issue

We were headed back from vacation , just got into the little town of province louisiana, and the moon roof just exploded ! there were no other cars around us no debris! we were driving about 50 mph on a 2 lane highway.the noise was so loud it sounded like a shotgun went off in the car , we nearly ran off the road !

2015 sorento has paint peeling and chipping due to air and weather. The peeling paint started december 2019. The condition has gotten worse. The chipping started this year.

Takata recall,backup camera not working,

I am making a complaint due to the paint chipping above the windshield. The paint started to chip and now in growing larger. Every time it rains the paint chips more and more. I have noticed not only that my car pillars on the siding around the windshield peeled that i have repainted but now it is above the wind shield. There are alot of kia sorentos in my area that the top of their vehicle are peeling as well so this has to be a manufacturer problem. I have spoken with a few shops in the area and they stated to inform kia that is an ongoing issue with all the kia's. I have pictures of the top of my vehicle.

Car started making knocking noises from engine and got louder as my husband accelerated.car then hesitated to accelerated and eventually stalled. This is dangerous!

A jerks when you trying to park when you going slow on the parking lot it has a kool 2098 fuel trim it keeps idling high and i'm stalling

My key fob was sounding like the doors locked but the car headlights did not flash or horn sound to signal the car was locked/security feature. The dealer said there was nothing wrong with the battery in the fob, and let it be as that. Today my car is in the shop because i was in the rear seats this week and noticed the back driver side passenger door was not locking. I had trouble getting out too. This explains why the car horn did not beep nor the headlights flash, as it was not a locked car, there is a issue and the car is not secure, that is why it did not beep. It will sound like the doors locked and unlocked but at this time it is just this one door that will not lock. It is not under the kia warranty now and it was noted, per this tech today, that when i first mentioned the key or fob issue was after the regular warranty too. I see online lots of comsumer comments about kia door lock issues. This is a safety issue. This should be a major recall. Now i have to pay about $280.00 for this one door lock. And pray this takes care of it

Head light low beams keep burning out on a frequent basis.have to replace couple times a year. Have tried led lamps but no after market led lamps seem to fit correctly. Have not found any suitable led lamps to use.halogens continue to burn out.sometimes one light goes out and then will come back on. But always will eventually burn out before they should.

In july of 2019 i purchased a 2015 kia sorento from haley toyota of richmond. About 7 days after purchasing my sorento, it was cutting off on me while driving and not starting. It was during the hot summer and i would be in the car with my kids sweating stuck hours away from home until the car decided to start up again. It would cut off on us while we were driving!! one day it was almost a terrible accident. Someone almost slammed into the back of us i had to swerve into the ditch!! and all of my children were present and my mother. It would start back up like after 30 minutes sometimes hours!! the first time this happened, when we finally got it to the dealer they had it for a while. They said they replaced a computer system and that that should fix it. It didnā€™t. We kept taking it back they kept not fixing it. And now the car is just not working whatsoever. And iā€™m still paying for it. The engine shouldnā€™t be cutting off while the car is in motion. And iā€™ve looked and there are so many recalls on this car but why isnā€™t mine included in any engine recalls? the engine is no good. Toyota should not have sold me that car.the vehicle was inspected by toyota and kia and they both acted as though they didnā€™t know the issue. Then the car just stopped working. We took out in so many times with no resolution. And not iā€™m stuck paying for a car that doesnā€™t even run. $333/month plus car insurance. And it was dangerous to drive. No warning lights or warning signs popped on it would just cut off in the middle of no where. And then after that the engine light would come on, but never before cutting off i never had any warnings.iā€™ve been given no resolution, and i really need help.

My 2015 kia sorento just shuts off while driving. No warning no issues. Serviced regular. Still has another 2000 miles before an oil change is needed. I was stuck in the middle of a very busy main road. Turned sideways. Thank god i did not get on the turnpike before this happene!

The paint on my pearl white kia sorento is falling off. I contacted the kia dealership in mobile, al where i purchased it from the service manager came outside took pictures and never contacted me.i called and called and he never returned my calls. I also contacted kia corporate and was given a case# 13187397.noone ever returned my calls.i paid over $700 to have my car painted myself and the paint started to peel off again in less than 90 days.the store repainted to faulty areas at no charge. This is ridiculous.

It started with a small spots on the front edge of the hood. That spot gradually grew and more spots started peeling.the next came on the driver's side on the frame of the windshield then on the passenger side. Pieces of paint just peeled off. There's about a good 8" long patch that has no paint and it's still flaking. The piece of paint that came off was so thin and brittle, i couldn't believe it. It just seems like the undercoat wasn't good and didn't fuse with the paint when it was applied. I don't know if i'm going to have to have the entire suv repainted.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space and making a left turn, the contact heard an abnormal popping. The contact felt the vehicle was dragging something underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over and restart the vehicle however, the engine was shaking and the contact saw that there was oil leaking on to the ground. The contact put the vehicle in neutral and had her son push the vehicle to her residence. The dealer was contacted but the service department was unavailable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,050.

We were driving down the highway with our small children in the back seat and car began to makea loud noise. The engine light came on and then started to flash. We proceeded to the exit and as we were taking the exit all the lights came on in the car stalled. We had to have it towed and we were advised that the engine was bad and one of the cylinders was not opening. This vehicle is not even two years old and the engine should not be failing

Car multimedia system includes blue tooth radio a gpsstopped working and i can not use blue tooth and direction mapsmy mechanic asked the kia mechaniic and was told it is a common problem.

The pearl white paint is chipping off of my kia sorento on the windshield pillars, above the windshield and the hood and various other locations.... The paint finish is faulty and was not properly applied

I was driving my new kia sorento on a two lane road.while driving in a passing zone going 50-55 mph, i attempted to pass a truck.my right hand bumped the gear shift to the left (at that time i had no idea that by slightly bumping the gear shift the vehicle went from automatic to manual...there is also a boot over the gear shift that prevents visual confirmation that the vehicle is in a different mode ).while attempting to pass the truck, my vehicle would not accelerate past 55-60 for approximately 11 seconds.i narrowly missed a head on collision with another vehicle.after understanding that the gear shift was bumped into a manual position, i have tried changing my vehicle from automatic to manual at many different speeds then attempting to accelerate. Sometimes the vehicle will accelerate and other times acceleration won't occur for 11 seconds.i have tried similar maneuvers in cadillac suvs, volvo suvs, and a subaru suv and there was no acceleration delay regardless of speed.i feel this is a setup for a deadly situation.

Radio came on by itself, passenger driver side window went down by itself, sometimes my cruise control will work other times i have a hard time getting it to set. The vehicle was in motion on the highway.engine oil was black even though i just had an oil change

I was turning into a parking space in a parking garage with my foot just barley on the brake whenthe car accelerated very fast and cause me to hit a concret wall. I tried to stop it but it didn't stop until it hit the wall knocking me almost out of the parking space. This has never happen before since i have had the car.

V6 engine stalls randomly when accelerating into or across traffic. .kia service dept. Unable to find cause with using electronic testing equipment. Stalling is random and unable to replicate with service dept personnel.a real safety issue.

Car started making knocking noises from engine and got louder as my husband accelerated.car then hesitated to accelerated and eventually stalled. This is dangerous!

I was told by the dealer that my wheel speed sensor needs replacing. I checked online and kia issued a recall for this but was told that my vin# wasn't on the list and i would have to pay for the full repair. I checked a number of online forums and though it seems that kia has issued a recall but then knowingly removed a number of vehicles by vin# from recall list. The dealer wants to charge me $310 for the sensor and $270 for the labor. This need to be investigated and the company should cover all vehicles issued as they ran a campaign to cover the wheel speed sensor before corruption then purposely excluded vehicles from getting the repair and now has damage to the sensor.

Car shut off repeatedly in the middle or driving and the car shakes.the car will not go over 60 while driving.

The contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle surged forward at approximately 40 mph without warning. The failure recurred on three occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the linkage needed to be adjusted. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vin was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.updated 10/24/14the consumer stated the cause of the failure was the driving with both feet. Thefailure had not recurred.updated 4/16/2015

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. When the air conditioner or heater was activated, an abnormal odor emitted from the vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The contact was informed that a deodorizer was sprayed into the vents, but the vehicle was unable to be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,000.

Vehicle has low visibility on low beam, even with aftermarket leds there is still low visibility with the low beams, car need to be driven on high beam and it is illegal to drive with high beams as you blind cars driving on opposite direction, and a fine could be impose as well.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. While driving approximately 55-60 mph, the sun roof shattered without warning. The contact took the vehicle to a state barracks to be inspected and was informed by the state trooper that there were no signs of road debris contact prior to the sun roof shattering. The vehicle was then taken to kia of dartmouth (located at 143 faunce corner rd, dartmouth, ma 02747, (508) 999-2542) to be inspected, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000. Bearings, suspension and steering issue: took car to get tire changed and ever since the bearins and steering is off. Steering wheel shakes once i try to go faster than 55 mph.

Kia dealership rotated tires. Rear driver side tire flew off vehicle within 2 blocks of dealership service department. All lugs missing. Extensive damage to rear end dealership claims all lug nuts were properly attached and the attachment was witnessed by 2 technicians. If this is true the wheels can fly off of this vehicle at any time. I want them to video all future wheel service and recall all previous work. They could kill someone.
