I was in a car accident in june 2009, in a 2006 kia sorento.i was hit by a vehicle traveling at approximately 60-70mph.the impact was so severe, that i ended up in front of the vehicle that i was pushed into. The result of this accident was total loss of vehicle.my air bags did not deploy, and that driver side seat back broke.doctors said that had my seat back not broke, i would not have sustained such debilitating injuries that i am not going to heal from.

"passenger side airbag off" warning light comes on intermittantly when there is a passenger in the front passenger seat. Also the red air bag warning light is on constantly when there is a passenger in the front passenger seat. There is a recall for this very problem on 06 and 07 sorentos made after june 06 but my kia was made prior to this date and is not included in the recall. I am afraid for the safety of any passenger in this seat and feel it should be covered by the recall. I took it to kia and was told there was no recall for this but now i find out there certainly is but they still are refusing to repair it free of charge.

All my lights both internal & external are burning out every few months. And i've had to replace my batterytimes also. My headlights are replaced every 4-5 months now, first starting out every year has now dropped to months. The battery lasts from 10-13 months before having to be replaced. Now parking & brake lights are burning out at a rate of about every 6 months. Called my local kia service rep and he says my dash and console would have to be ripped out to repair, and of course it is no longer covered under warranty.also my interior lights on dash, console and inside on the header no longer work. Have checked all fuses and can find nothing unusual.

I was driving on the highway and the brake light & battery light came on . The engine sounded rough , when i went to pull of the highway , i had no power steering

I got this car about a month ago and 3 days after the purchase i could smell the catalytic converter it was extremely strong, then a rumble sound under the car from the exhaust. A day later i was driving to work and the a/c compressor started squealing extremely loud and there was a ticking sound. Took it to the auto dealer i got it from and they said it was the compressor belt, dealer replaced belt and there is still a noise of ticking and a faint screeching noise.. They also said they fixed the exhaust but i am still having issues with the smell . This weekend i was on the highway and i was at 65 mph, there was a loud noise and the engine bogged down and sounded like it died and came back on. I made it home without anymore problems. Today i was driving 40 mph and the engine made a noise and the car bogged again. I was stopped at a light and got up to 40 mph again and the engine did the same thing. This is going to cause serious injuries to somebody. My car is going into the shop thursday but after reading all the reviews it looks like i just wasted all this money on a piece of junk. Something needs to be done about this before somebody gets killed. I'll contact help me hank as well .

I purchased this vehicle used from a local dealership back in 2013.it had 53000 miles on it i bought the extended warrantyand have been unable to use it due to when the issues developed. Within three months i had to replace the passenger side then driver side low beam lights and the front and rear tail lights. This has occurred while driving. I had to do this about once a year. I recently june 2016 changed the passenger side bulb low beam again. Now i have noticed i have no tag lights. I ordered replacement bulbs from the dealershipand had them installed and they still do not work. Yet no fuses are blown and there is no smell of burning wires or melted wires anywhere.

Electrical issues. Dome light will not work, headlight continue to blow out, something is wrong electrically.

We have repeatedly replaced low beam headlights.have tried various brands to no avail.tried replacing one at a time/ both at same time with no luck.same result in that they burn out within a couple days to a couple months.shortly after purchasing vehicle, the dome light for the door does not work.decided to investigate on internet and have found i am not the only person having these issues.seems to me there is an issue with the electrical system.only reporting to express my concern to the safety of my family and others who own a kia. This has been brought to my attention after my wife was pulled over for having only one headlight.the officer was nice and only gave her a courtesy warning.not sure what will happen the next time.law enforcement does not allow ignorance as an excuse for the law.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed smoke emerging from the front of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nissan kia of middletown (4961 route 17m, new hampton, ny 10958) where it was diagnosed that the fuse and electrical box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

Engine light came on- brought to dealer- told leak in pressure line to power steering. They fixed but still faulty sensor light remains on for check engine- told 230$ to fix faulty sensor on gas/air mixture or my catalytic converter would wear out.

In february of '06 we bought a new kia sorento. After the 1st year we have had to replace 4 headlights. 2 tail lights, 2 dome lights and 1 clock.clock and dome light were covered under warranty but not the headlights. The 3rd headlight was replaced last week on 1/19/09 (passenger side) and the drivers side replaced today 1/28/09.also while on vacation in the summer of '08, the battery had to be replaced.kia has to be aware of this problem but has failed to acknowledge it with free replacements.however, the service dept. Did tell me that in the past 2 years he has replaced more headlight bulbs than you could imagine.if this is indeed an electrical problem, how safe is my wife driving this automobile.i have called their corporate office with my concern and their response has been, "well headlights do burn out" . I do know of other owners who have had the same problem.please help before someone is injured.thank you

While driving my 2006 kia sorento on wednesday december 17, 2014, a week before christmas, the crankshaft pulley bolt loosened up. Under tremendous pressure from the engine the steel pulley bent skewing all belted driving systems: power steering, electrical, electricity to engine,a/c,wipers, heating and defrosting systems, and etccausing me to lose complete control of car while turning corner at busy intersection;loosing steering, complete engine shutdown, panic, and putting me in 'harm's way'!my wife and i had specifically bought this suv because we care and drive our 3 beautiful grandchildren to school/back and to all activities and so many other children (their friends) going to the same places and activities.i thank god this didn't happen with any children or my wife in the car and even under worse situations; ex: expressway driving or so many other life threatening driving situations! i have paid many hundreds of dollars for the repairs and much time and worrying about that terrible incident i have suffered! also my immediate children put much pressure on me to get rid of this unsafe car concerned for their children (my grandchildren) and their friends!

I purchased a 2006 kia sorento from an individual.without any warning the tail lights, signal lights, cruise control, emergency blinkers, and windows quit working all at once.i have been doing research and see that this vehicle has a lot of complaints with electrical issues.also, in 2009 there was a recall. I need to get this recall checked into and also my vehicle needs to be fixed.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the low beam headlights failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where it was diagnosed that an electrical shortage was causing the low beams to fail prematurely. The low beam bulbs were replaced numerous times, but the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

On january 17, 2015, i retrieved my 2006 kia sorento lx from the dealership. I had to have the water pump and heater hoses replaced. It was suggested that since my vehicle had close to 60k miles on it that according the manufacturer that the timing belt be replaced. It cost me a little over $1,200.two weeks later i was at a stop light waiting to make a left turn.as i proceeded to make my left, from a complete stop, the vehicle bogged, stalled, the dashboard lights all came on for an instant and the steering wheel locked. Luckily there was no on coming traffic and i was able to pull into a parking lot. I got the vehicle to stop and attempted to re-start my car and it did.nothing happened to the vehicle again until a week later and it did the same thing again.i took it that there was a possibility that it was cheap gas. My husband, on saturday 02/14/2015, moved the vehicle to the front of the house and parked it. At 4 p.m. We went to leave and the vehicle wouldn't start. I googled some information and had to re-set the fuel cut off switch under the hood and that fixed the problem temporarily. Last night, 02/16/2015, the vehicle did the same thing again and again we had to re-set the fuel cut off switch and the engine light remained on.today, 02/17/2015, we returned the vehicle to the dealership to have it diagnosed and they determined that the camshaft positioning sensors and the crank shaft positioning sensor need to be replaced and now they want to charge me another $1,100. I have gone online and done some research and found several other complaints similar to mine. I also noted that there was a class action lawsuit in nj for the same thing. It seems to me that kia motors is aware of the problem and just turning a blind eye. These problems continue after repairs are made according to the complaints i found.

Coming home from work about 2miles away from home, i lost power, my power steering, and electrical and i had to pull over and get towed to my home. Not happy cause kia knows about this issue!!!!

Our 2006 kia sorento all the sudden while driving on a very busy in city highway, started sounding like it kept trying to turn over and we pulled over. We noticed it started smelling hot but wouldn't turn off so my husband tried taking off the battery but couldn't because it was so hot it burned him and noticed smoke coming from the engine. We finally got it off so we tried to restart it but the battery was totally dead. The shop said the engine is gone.

There has been multiple times of me changing both headlights and taillights. Now my brake lights are out at the same time along with one headlight. The lights are not even 2 weeks old. It really is scary to know that my lights can go out at any time. (which has happened, thankfully not when it was completely dark) and today, i almost got into a wreck because i wasn't aware that my 2 week old tail lights are out. My dash board lights and my dome light flickers and i have to hit the top of the dashboard for them to come back on. This has been going on for about 2 years and i have seen a lot of the same complaints with this make and year. Kia really needs to do something about this.

Recentlypurchased2006 kia sorento..recall #sc077 the brake lights interoir lights arenot working i replaced all bulbs and fuses..please help

I was driving down the road doing 55mph when i heard a loud sound and all of a sudden the break and battery light came on in 2006 kia sorento. At that very moment, i realized that i did not have any power steering. Up until this point, my only complaint with my suv was that i had to constantly replace the bulbs in both the front and back of the car. Also, my dome light stopped working and some of the panel lights as well. Although, that was annoying, i never complained because it did not put me in any serious danger. However the problem with the power steering could have killed me or someone else. I know my vehicle is out of warranty, but these cars should be built to last and not put my life in danger regardless of how long i keep it. Sheesh, if kia would have told me that once my car gets at a certain age it would put my life in danger i would have had second thoughts about the purchase. I think it is sad that these big companies only care about making money than human mortality.

After reading many of these complaints, they are the same as mine.my car has shut off while driving at least four times, the last time i had to have it towed to my regular mechanic.since the check engine light did not stay on at first he was unable to determine what was wrong. Now that i see many other people have had the same problem i now know what i am up against. I guess kia is waiting for someone to be killed with them driving and can not pull over due to no power, then get hit from behind.then and only then will they do a recall after someone loose their life, just because they want to keep quite. I now know what to tell my mechanic that is wrong. I will copy several of these complaints and take it to him. I will also call my local tv stations to report this as well, i refuse to sit around allow someone to be killed in order to save kia money.they can do a recall and fix this matter, but they don't want to. I will never buy another kia again and will tell others when the tv stations interview me i will be sure to let people know not to buy your cars at all until you face up to the fact that this is a dangerous matter.

Panel dash lights intermediately dim, low headlights and back running light bulbs burn out constantly, license plate light bulbs burnt out and melted in casing, passenger air bag indicator light comes on when passenger is seated stating it is off.powered door locks do not work most of the time - push power lock button or by key and still won't lock, keyless remotes don't work even after replacement of new batteries.

Have replaced headlight bulbs 6 times, replaced brake lights 3 times, the dome light had complications with coming on when opening doors, license plate lite is out as we speak, also the lock on rear left makes a strange buzzing noise when you engage locks, car has a lot of electrical issues going on.

Low beam head lights, just go out with out warning . Replaced 100s of time s just very costly . Kia wants 100. Every time to replace.

2006 kia sorentocomplaint: engine , steering, electrical system , exterior lighting ,throttle position sensor i am changing the head lights every4-5 month and i think it needs to be looked at. Was driving 35 mph when the engine light and brake light came on with no warning.and just last week 2/2/2014 the engine stopped and i had no power steering and also no brakes.i was able to coast to a side road and barely got the vehicle to stop.the vehicle was taken to an mechanic, who diagnosed and had to replace a throttle position sensorand a mass air flow meter and air filter and the harmonic balancer.this is crazythese problems and requires extensive and expensive repair to the engine.this indicates to us a manufacturer's design flaw and probable safety issue that should be addressed by kia worldwide.it's disturbing with how many other complaints i'm reading on this site about the same exact thing!is there any help out there this is too expensive for all these repair.the failure mileage was 73,100.

We initially purchased a used kia sorento in 2005.we encountered problems with the electrical system (lights continually burning out) so we decided to purchase a new sorento so we would have the benefit of the full warranty. Since the purchase of the 2006 kia sorento, we have replaced nearly every light (headlights, interior lights, brakelights, tail lights, fog lamps, turn lights and license plate lamp) numerous times.the assorted replacement lights were purchased from various locations, ensuring the error was not with the replacement parts, but rather the vehicle itself. The old lights were not retained. Our full warranty is nearing expiration and we would like "some type" of action to occur before it is too late. We feel that not only is this constant source of irritation and a financial burden, but also a potential safety hazard.

Since purchasing my sorento in 2006 i have replaced all 3 of my head, fog, and brakes lights more than a dozen times.also the overhead console that displays the temperature, compass, etc has never report accurate reading.there were time in the winter when the temperature outside were 20 degrees however it would display that it was 50 degrees.then they are times when the passengers seatbelt light stays on even when they is someone seating in it.i have attempted to contact kia about the above concerns only to have heard back from anyone.

I went to the bank in november of 2014. I shut my car off because its started to make a loud noise . I tried to start it when i was done and it would not start. I was able to get a jump to start it back up but it keep on dying. I was finally able to get it started enough to get it home . It died right before my house so we had to push it into the driveway. When i was driving it home the electrical kept cutting in and out and it was making a loud noise. Come to find out the crankshaft pulley bolt broke off into the engine.i only had the car for 8 months and paid $8700.00 for the car.

Vehicle's battery, brake, and check engine lights came on while parked at home, opened hood, noticed belt was slipping, and crankshaft pulley was spinning almost free.contacted mechanic who performed most recent maintenance, he attempted to repair work under assumption was faulty.problem reoccurred 3 months later, mechanic now convinced he is not the cause of this. Research shows common issue with this make/model.crankshaft bolt appears to break free of pulley.will require engine block disassembly to determine if crankshaft has been damaged.

I bought an 2006 sorento in march of this year and i have been hearing this loud noise coming form the steering wheel. When i take off it stalls its just been an headache with this car i wish they would just recall it so it can be fixed no matter how many times it goes to the shop the noise comes back ugh!!!!!

Headlights both sides will go out on regular basis without warning-dash lights go out on regular basis-a/c unit will short out causing burn smell -window switches and tail lights will stop working on regular basis i have found many complaints about these problems.

This 2006 kia sorento was purchased new (only owner) and has had numerous problems with the interior and exterior electrical system as follows: 1. The power control to both side mirrors no longer functions. 2. The electric door locks will suddenly lock on their own just by opening and closing a door. 3. The front and rear window washers no longer work (safety hazard); dealer wants to charge over $500 to fix without even saying what is exactly wrong. 4. Brake lights and headlights burn out or short out far too often, creating severe safety hazards. I have never had to replace lights on a vehicle so often, and i have owned at least 12 different vehicles in my life. 5. Seat belt straps no longer retract properly and places a lot of tension on your lap/waist when used.there have been thousands of complaints on this very same model for the same reasons. The federal government should better protect its citizens from poor quality and dangerous flaws in such vehicles. There should have been a forced recall for the entire electrical system on this model. I am filing formal complaint with the u.s. Congress as well. There should be a federal investigation of kia/hyundai because i have seen hundreds of thesame issues and complaints on their car models as well, including both kia and hyundai models which are by the same manufacturer. This is totally ridiculous that you do nothing about this, yet it is costing taxpayers thousands of dollars and even risking their lives.

My 2006 kia sorento has 96000 miles on it and it seems that the head light or electrical system has a short in it.the head light will go off but you if you tap the head light assembly it will come back on as if there is a short in the electrical system.also, the dome light will come on if you turn it to the on position but if you put it on the door position it does not come on when the door is open.again that would be a failure in the electrical system. The kia will not start after replacing a headlight bulb.i know that sounds like they are not related but the head light went out so i replaced it and then i wouldn't start right after changing the light.

I was in a slow head on crash, to avoid hitting other cars person swerved into my lane. Didn't even set the airbags off. As soon as the accident occurred my brake & battery light came on. When i got the car back the lights were still lit, took it back & they blamed it on a belt. I had put a reconditioned alternator in 11 days before the accident, drove fine with a questionable battery. Now the power steering work occasionally & the alternator is not charging the battery. I just want my car to work like it did before the accident. But i must say this is the fourth alternator i have put in this vehicle, three rebuilt, but the third one was brand new, i am averaging an alternator every two years. Bought this car used in the same year it came out & it only had 16,000 miles. It now has approximately 90,000. I wish my problem was only frequently burn out lights. Replaced two serpentine belts, one left that goes to the power steering. So glad that kid was texting or something to cause this accident, now i have a car that is worthless to me as i can't drive it. The bodyshop put a new battery in it, it lasted 3 days. Wish i would've just stay home that day.

2006 sorento ex was bought in 2009, with 56,000 miles.currently has 103,000 miles and is a constant electrical battle.have replaced numerous headlights and tail lights.the interior dome light only works when manually switched "on," and the "a/c" setting control dial only lights up after you fiddle with it.the driver's seat motor has partially died so that the seat reclines back but will not go straight up again.the front two window motors seem to be on their last legs.the front passenger door lock actuator mechanism died last year and would make an awful, loud buzzing sound whenever the door lock button would be pressed.the interior dash lights are starting to intermittently go out.it's quite scary to be driving along at night and everything on the panel goes black.have replaced battery once since buying it when it died with absolutely no warning.

I have had to replace the headlight bulbs 5 times and tail light bulbs 4 times.the 2006 kia sorento was purchased new.this is not normal.an electrical problem is evident.i do a great deal of driving at night and there is a safety issue with the head lights and tail lights not being dependable.not to mention the fact that getting pulled over by law officers due to this problem is a huge inconvenience.

Kia sorento 2006.crank shaft bolt sheared off.total control of vehicle lost.can not drive vehicle.contacted kia motors who stated they know this happens.exact words of person on phone were "you should have replaced the crank shaft bolt with an upgraded model".as i am a private owner and never got any information from kia this was never done.the dealership was helpful in that they said they would look at the vehicle for a fee, in which case they stated that they could fix it for a large amount and that it was the crank shaft bolt which was the problem.loli asked them if they were going to put in the upgraded version i was told about, and they said they only have one kind which is the original part.after several conversations with mechanics at the dealership and outside mechanics the vehicle has been non-operational as it is too much money to fix a problem that is not being addressed and is not safe for the road.as a kia owner of more than 2 of their vehicles i am highly upset as this company has took no action in such a huge problem.stand by your product kia.i stood by you buying more than 2 cars over the last decade. That is up in the air now as kia refuses to step up to the plate.kia should fix this problem and this vehicle should be recalled.

While stopped at a traffic light, the car was running fine. When the light turned green, i took my foot off the brake and all the lights on my dash illuminated and the car immediately shut off. I shift into park and restart the car with no problems as if nothing happened. No other issues occurred until today (3 weeks later). This time i started my car and was driving through a parking lot with no signs of a problem. After i stopped, to let a car out in front of me, i took my foot off the brake to proceed. Immediately as i stepped on the gas, the dash illuminated, the steering wheel locked, and the car shut off. I tried restarting it a few times, but it wouldn't budge at all. I shut off all electrical devices, such as headlights, radio, and hazard lights and tried starting it again. This time it started as if nothing was wrong. I drove around stopping and going for another 45 mins to see if it would happen again, and nothing. Based on what i've been reading, it sounds like this is a common problem. Why isn't this getting the same attention toyota and gmc cars received when their cars experienced dangerous malfunctions in several of their cars? perhaps the media needs to be alerted to this to actually bring more attention to the matter. Apparently kia is waiting for a few deaths first before they part with money to fix the problem.

My kia sorento suddenly began dying as i was driving.when it happened, i did not have control of my steering wheel or my brakes.i was fortunate that each time it has happened i have been in a situation where i could pull over to the side of the road.once i pulled over, put it in neutral or park and it started back up without difficulty.there were no engine lights of any type.i took the car to the kia dealership in lubbock, tx (gene messer kia).they were unable to discover any problems with my car.they drove it and could not duplicate the problem, they scanned for codes, nothing showed up. I was without my car for two full days.i left the dealership with an invoice for $143.00 for cleaning of the throttle and a list of things that need to be repaired soon.the incident happens once or twice a week. My fear is that this is going to happen and i am going to either kill another driver or myself or have a crash into another object.this is very dangerous.now, the following has nothing to do with the kia, itself, however, i just lost my husband, moved to lubbock a few months ago, i do not know people here.i am in the middle of job hunting so i never know when i am going to be called for an interview.if i leave my car with gene messer kia, i am totally without any transportation.i am alone, and need to get this problem taken care of as soon as possible.the dealership tells me they do not let customers have loner cars so my life is just "on hold".i am not in a financial situation to pay out a lot of money.i'm barely making it now until i find a job.i am asking someone to please help me with this situation.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento.the contact stated that the interior and exterior lights would flash, the door would unlock, and the rear hatch would open automatically.the dealer replaced the computer and stated that there was a dead cell in the battery, which did not remedy the issue.a kia representative stated that the ground wire could be the issue; therefore, the dealer replaced the ground wiring.the repair stopped the lights from flashing; however, the hatch stopped opening the very same night of the repairs.in addition, the heater fan only worked on high.the vehicle has not yet been repaired.the contact is concerned that the flashing lights will distract other drivers and lead to a crash.the current mileage was 39,600 and failure mileage was 1,246.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the temperature gauge displayed a dangerous increase in temperature. In addition, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that he attempted to restart the vehicle several times. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The day after we purchased this vehicle i had to change the right brake light, sinse then i've had to change the headlights both at least twice, assorted tail lights each side at least three times, the front dome light will not come on when you open the doors but can be swiched on, now dash lights are going off one at a time some can be wiggled and come on for a few seconds. This has gone from annoying to a safety issue, and i read a lot of people on line with 06 sorentos have the same problem and have been told by the deeler that it will cost them a lot of money to fix. I feel like all the others this should be kia's responibility to fix.

Driving on highway when heard a pop and power steering went out and battery and brake light came on.had it towed to auto repair shop to find out the crank shaft pulley bolt had broken off into the engine. Auto repair shop unable to get bolt out since it broke off into engine. Only way to repair was a new engine which was around $5000.

Since the day i purchased this vehicle i have had to replace the headlights or tail lights almost every other month. I believe there is something wrong with the electrical system. Lately the lights and the fan will not shut off on the car. I had to pull out the battery just to get it to go off. The ac and heater switch back and forth constantly. One day you can only use the heater then the next week you can only use the ac. I have replace switches over and over and it only temporarily fixes these problems. Gas mileage is absolutely terrible.

I have owned my 2006 kia sorento for 4 years and have constantly had to replace headlights.i was just at the dealer last week and had to have a headlight and 2 other exterior lights replaced.i have made comments to the dealer to inquire why they think these bulbs are constantly blowing and they don't seem to care.this morning, my interior map and dome lights came on all by themselves and would not turn off, no matter what buttons i pressed.they did not go off when i turned the car off and left.when i returned to my car, it smelled like magic markers which quickly turned into a burning electrical smell as i proceeded to exit a multi-level parking structure.i was terrified by this!!.i got out of that garage, got out of that car, and had it towed to the dealer, who will "look at it tomorrow".this incident has prompted me to research the internet for other complaints like mine, and there are tons for this model year.will you please do something??!!i don't want to drive that car anymore - i have little kids!! this is not safe!!!what is it going to take - a number under "deaths"?!my guess from the other consumer comments i have seen posted and from my own experience with the kia dealer on other issues with my car is that they will find nothing wrong.please help!!!!!

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento and stated the propeller shaft for the four wheel drive continued to fail on the vehicle.the dealer replaced the front drive shaft and road tested the vehicle. Within the next month, the vehicle was taken back to the shop for the same failure. The front drive shaft was replaced a second time to no avail. The failure persisted an additional two times within four months. While driving, the check engine light illuminated on the warning panel and he could smell burning oil coming from the vehicle. The dealer replaced the front drive shaft again. To date, the vehicle was making a very loud noise, when turning right, the steering wheel would become very hard and a loud noise was coming from the steering wheel. No repairs have been made to date to correct the actual failure. The failure mileage was 92,348 and the current was 99,583.updated 02/02/10 .*ljthe blower motor for the heater had to be repaired.the front door's latch was faulty it was making a buzzing sound. The consumer stated the driver shaft was replaced three times and the vehicle continued to make strange noises. Updated 02/04/10

This 2006 kia sorento has other electrical issues other than just the brake switch. We are constantly replacing the bulbs in the headlights, tail lights, brake lights and parking lights. This is become a complete pain in the neck. I feel it is a safety issue since how my lights go out for no apparent reason. We have also noticed that during the day when we are not using the dash lights that when we apply the brakes the dash lights come on and so do the parking lights. The fact that i drive around without knowing when my lights are blown or not can create a terrible accident. Please look into this further.

2006 kia sorento.i bought this vehicle new in 2006.i have replaced several headlights, taillights, turn lights, ect. My dome light is now broken and wont turn on when i open the doors.most importantly the drivers side seat motor has now went out. After calling the dealership they advised me that its about $1,300.00 to fix!!!!!!! my 4-wheel drive goes in o.k. But i have to play with it to get it out.this vehicle has never had water damage or been rode hard. Yet still problem after problem!!!!!!!

2006 sorento was purchased in nov 2005.jan of 2006 the check engine light came on and i was told it was due to possible loose gas cap. First time tail light went out was in july of 2006.right rear tail light was replaced. In october of 2006 a tail light bulb was replaced during my 15,000 mile maintenance.in november 2006 right tail light went out and kia replaced bulb once again.in december of 2006 left tail light went out and check engine light came on.bulb was replaced and i was told my spark plugs were misfiring and were replaced.a day later my check engine light came on again.i am now trying to see what day i can take off of work yet again to go and have the check engine light looked at.

I purchased this car in new in 2006 i have replace four tail lights and as of today when the head light went out this will be the fifth headlight, i am afraid for my daughter to park in the garage in case it should set the house on fire, there is obviously a short in the electrical system.

I was driving on the highway in slushy snow and the brake light & battery light came on.the engine sounded rough. When i went to pull of the highway, i had no power steering.

The head light keep burning out the radio and the clock light keep flicking and draing the battery while driving

Brake lights burn outpremature andboth aux. Power outlets blow out fuse when plugging in xm radio.

Parked the car one night, next morning only clicks, clicking coming from fuse box too.new battery, battery and brake light are on, car dies after sputtering.this is a new $5,000 engine with only 20,000 miles due to a crankshaft pulley break ruining the original one.now, it won't crank, obdii returns codes p0763 and p0101 which are shift solenoid and mass air flow electrical.the cooling fan relaly is burned as well as the fuse box circuit board it goes into.have a mechanic coming to check it but not too optimistic given the car'shistory.luckily, i only drove 3 miles to my other home when the second timefor quitting occurred where it is still, now i'm out of a car and lots of obligations to fulfill and walking.

Head lights blow out every couple months and the brake lights to and it happens at all time driving day and night when driving and parked

Dt*:the contact stated the outside temperature gauge was inoperable and attempted repair resulted to the splicing of the wring harness.the repair caused the vehicle to stall at 45 mph.the vehicle was maneuvered off the road and towed to the dealer where a new wiring harness was ordered. Updated 9/5/2006 -when making a u-turn the vehicle made a clicking noise.the dealer replaced both front center caps.

Driving in winter weather conditions, had vehicle in cruise control on interstate going about 40 mph, not45 mph, cars ahead were braking due to gusty winds and decreased visibility (blowing snow).proceeded to brake to slow down, while in cruise control mode, brakes did not work as they normally due and vehicle hit a side rail on the driver's side, causing loss of control of vehicle momentarily.vehicle was able to momentarily get back onto interstate road before going into a ditch on other side-opposite of guard rail, of the road.the vehicle was just purchased/finance 12/7/2013 and is now considered a total loss due to damages the vehicle suffers.

Dear sir; at this time i'm requesting that your office send to one a complaint form to be file against the company car corral 11 in colonial heightva 23834 for rightfully and knowingly selling a used car with the defectedemergency brakes, dry rotten tires, rotors scorned, dimmed head light cannot be seen ahead of driver, need alignment or that when driving the car the car vibrate from side to side, odorous smell of burning wires and gas, belt leading to air conditioner is cracked and worn out, refused to present me with a car fax and when subject requested to file a complaint with thebbb of virginia, attorney general office of virginia and especially filling out the customer satisfaction survey form, all members of the sales team and owner became highly upset and bluntly on several occasions. On or amount 2/10/16 i spoke personal with the owner about the issues with the car and he did say "i will work with you to repair or fix certain items on the car, but i'm not trying to make it to a new car." he refuses to fix the items from the inspection on 2/6/16 from merchants tire and auto centers based on the fact that the company was trying to make money, i agree and disagree with the comments of the owner. The car was inspected in january 2016 but did not find any issues? what i want done to my car: any and all items found to be deem a safety and health hazard or refund my money.emergency brakes can be pulled up at any time as if a child's toy and the owner dis apologize but why sell me a suv that was used as a means for transporting and exporting items for the company? when travelling on the highway the suv will vibrate from side to side causing driver to enter into another driving lane and not to mention the odorous burning smells from the dash board causing headaches.

I was driving headed to get on the hi-way, heard a noise and a whine and then my car began to run bad. Shaking and like no power steering or something. As i was trying to stop and pull over there was a rattling sound.i am being told 2 things. But they all come down to a bolt that is said to have come loose and cause damage to the camshaft and harmonic balancer. Which i have seen several complaints about and your companyis not owning this issue or assisting to have the issue repaired or recalled and research shows you are well aware of the issue, as there was a class action suit that you settled on in 2017. However, i did not purchase my car or have issues with the bolt until after then. What are the options for ppl who are now experiencing this?i have checked with the previous owner and the vehicle was not repaired for this problem and they have no record of being a part of the suit. I would appreciate someone contacting me concerning this and options for repair or replacement immediately. Thank you. I could have died has i already gotten on the hi-way or been going much faster. Only by the grace of god did that not happen. I pray that your company is ready to take ownership and offer assistance to those who bought and continue to use your products.

Kia sorento - i have a 2006 sorento that just turned 60,000 miles in october. I had driven it at lunch one day, when i went to leave the office at 5, the car was making an awful grinding noise and the emergency brake light came on, even though the brake was not on.then the power steering went out. I had to have it towed in because the crankshaft malfunctioned and that along with all the belts and parts had to be replaced.it took 5 weeks for the repair, and now it has to go back because one of the new belts is screeching.i paid $1,300 for the repair and kia only paid part of the repair.why would they pay for part and not all, if it was a defective part that there should have been a recall on?

Went to leave house vehicle started. Felt like brakes were locked looked at dash red lights for check engine and brake light was on. Engine was running popped the hood seen fan belt wasn't turning. Called aaa

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the harmonic balance needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 119,000.

Belt sprocket and harmonic balancer with bolt. The bolt is made of substandard material and broke causing the automobile to lose power steering and other vital car features. No warning, it just broke while in motion causing all of the belts to seize. I was on a hilly mountainous road in my home area of high ridge missouri, acutally on the high ridge.i am lucky that i am smart enough to drive defensively and was able to coast to a safe side road. Two mechanics came to my rescue and easily saw that the problem stating that i would need a whole new engine.i have a temporary fix estimate from my mechanic but he says the car really needs a whole new engine.....

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle suddenly began to violently shake and rattle before stalling. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer sterling kia located at 125 s. City parkway, lafayette la 70503 who diagnosed that the engine crank bolt and crank pulley had failed. The engine crank pulley pin and crank bolt were replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.

Bought car started having an over heating problem.compression test came back with complete pass nothing abnormal. Car was not starting without a jump so bought a new battery for it everything seemed completely fine. Drove a total of maybe ten miles to ace hardware to get some supplies and car started to smoke once i turned the heater off.immediately pulled over white smoke coming from under hood, puddle of fluid in parking spot, and water boiling sound under hood. Towed car home then to mechanic where it is sitting now for an estimate being told it looks like i will need a new motor. There is 106,661 plus or minus a 100miles i am the second owner of the well maintained vehicle.when smoking started i was drying on a hwy with speed limit of 55 miles/hr.it is an awd passed smog, and i bought it from a dealer who bought it from an auction. It was a trade in by lessee to the lessor for a newer one.

Started making loud knocking noise took to repair shop to find out the problem is with the crankshaft bolt, as many other kia owners have been having.

My 22 year old daughter was driving the car at college when it suddenly lost power steering and then shut down in traffic in the middle of an intersection.luckily she was not on a curvy road when the power steering went out. We had the car towed and after mechanic's inspection were told that the crankshaft bolt "wobbled" loose and disrupted the timing belt assembly shutting down the engine.this $2 bolt has caused an estimated $3500 repair bill or even an engine replacement. Our research has uncovered to us that this is a common problem with this 3.5l engine.this bolt either breaks or wobbles out of it's threading to cause timing belt problems and requires extensive and expensive repair to the engine.this indicates to us a manufacturer's design flaw and probable safety issue that should be addressed by kia worldwide.

I was driving out of walgreens parking lot on 6/2/2013 in alsip, illinois.as i put my car in reverse to back out the parking space then i placed it in drive it was fine.then i got ready to turn the wheel to come out the parking lot and it was very hard to turn.then my lights came on the dashboard.the brake light & engine light.i then placed my feet on the brakes and placed it back in p (park) and tired to put in drive again and the same thing happened.it was very hard to turn to get it out of the way.i ended up going up the street to autozone to see if they can put in on the machine or even look at it to see what's wrong.they looked at it and told me it looks like my pulley belt is cracked / breaking / broke.so i park it in a residual area, and i called kia dealership in oaklawn, il to order the part as autozone told me they did not have that part i will have to go to the dealer.so i called kia to get the part and they said i had to order it.i did just that picked it up had the tow truck to take to the autoshop for repair.once the mechanic looked at it he started the bolt was hard to get off to get to the pulley. He stated it is a 50/50 chance thatit may break.if it does then i would need a engine.i then told him don't touch it or worry about it i will have it towed to kia in river oaks which i did.they looked at it and stated the same thing.i said well lets pray they it does not break he laughed and said ok.the mechanic called me back a hour later an said it broke i'm gonna need a engine.he told me the price, and i could not afford it so i had it towed to my house.

While moving at 70 mph interstate speed limit, my daughter heard a loud pop and the engine made popping noises as she brought the suv to a stop on the side of the interstate.she ultimately restarted the vehicle and drove at 30 mph with flashing hazard lights on until reaching the next exit (2-3 miles max.) to a safe location being around 9:00 pm in the evening.the suv was taken to a firestone mastercare store in chattanooga, tn.after removing the engine cover, the mechanic found part of the spark plug and ignition part, indicated that the location where the spark plug was inserted had been stripped out by the parts blowing out of their normal location with extreme pressure.the suv has been towed to my home where it is sitting pending what options are available for repair.

The contact owned a 2006 kia sorento. While the vehicle was off, the engine caught fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. The cause of the failure could not be determined. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. An independent mechanic deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was not towed. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

With only 46000 miles, i heard a sound, and like everyone else who has posted this problem, no power steering, everything lite up on dash panel. The crank shaft pulley bolt was broken. I was able to get it to a mechanic, he replaced the bolt. Then 3 days ago, the same thing!!! i have had problems with the break lights burning out at least every 3 months-clock changes time. Three years ago the air condition failed, after much debate, kia fixed it. How can this not be a recall?! if i can get this fixed-never will i buy or recommend a kia of any kind!!!!!

6/2015 vehicle began to run rough. Local mechanic discovered crankcase bolt had snapped and the pulley and balancer mounting screw had sheared off. Shop confirmed a kia kit to fix the issue ($1200.00 + 1007.00 for timing gear kit and water pump) 1/15/2016 while driving into the roundabout on portal way (15 mph) there was a loud clunk from the engine compartment immediately followed by the loss of power steering, asb braking and voltmeter warning lights. The vehicle was towed to mechanics shop where it was confirmed that the new crankcase bolt has broken again damaging the new pulley and balancer also. The shop contacted the local kia dealer and they confirmed that the 2003-2006 v6 3.5l misabishi engines used have a long record of this problem with no permanent fix. The following information was emailed to me from the owner of axton automotive, ferndale wa an ase certified shop, "on wednesday, january 20, 2016, axton automotive <[email protected]> wrote:hello, on you kia. It doesn't look like any fix is permanent on the vehicle. Even their own recall/fix is failing. I recommend filing a complaint at the national highway traffic safety administration.. I will come up with some options tomorrow and get back to you. But whatever we decide i recommend not using this vehicle. Jim" the vehicle is disabled at this time with no response from kia.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorrento. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, she heard a loud banging as the power steering and brakes failed. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic and they stated that the harmonic balancer was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred a few months later. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000. The vin was unavailable.

I was turning at a stop light wheni loss power steering and nearly crashed.i was able to get it pulled over.i raised the hood and saw the crankshaft pulley lying on the the bottom skid plate.i looked on the internet only to find there are probably thousands of similar cases worldwide.i called kia .they basically blew me off!

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft bolt fractured as a result the engine and crank shaft bolt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000.

Driving 65mph on turnpike heard a loud screeching noise brakes were hard to apply steering was difficult and dash board lite up pull to the side of the road and was towed to the nearest kia dealership to be told that crank shaft bolt broke.at 60000 miles we did the required maintenance to the tune of 663.65 and had the timing belt replaced.there was also a memo to the dealerships to replace the bolt when replacing the timing belt.according to my itemized statement the bolt was not replaced.i feel this should be covered since i followed the rules and got the required service they were negligent not replacing the bolt.however they refuse to accept responsibility for there mistake.now i am stuck with a considerable bill.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crank position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 225,000.

This is the third time that this has happen to me. I was driving and my car stop in the middle of the street need a tow truck so i took it to the shop and the diagnose was crank shiftsensor $700.00. About 3 yrs later driving on the freewaylost all power light came on guide of the freewayi took it to the shop the same problem again crank shift sensor again $700.00. The yr driving from work on the freeway it happen again no power light came on another $ 700.00. [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

From 9/2011 to7/2013 my 2006 kia has had this problem 3 times and is currently in the shop.while driving i hear a weird noise and then all the dashboard warning lights come on and i lose power steering.when checking under the hood, the belts have all fallen off, a pulley is laying under engine as is a bolt.the last time the bolt hadbroken off causing the pulley to fall off. Mechanic found that the crankshaft sprocket was broken.i'm not sure about today as the car is at the shop with the bolt laying under the engine, but the drive pin that goes into the sprocket of the pulley fell out the bottom when being lifted onto the tow truck.

At 60,000 miles took my 2006 sorento in for manufacturer's recommended service - change timing belt and new plugs, etc., never had a problem before then.got the suv back from mechanic and the following day, thebelts came off, lost power, overheated.crank shaft bolt came loose.now at 82,290 miles, bolt broke, harmonic balancer came loose and chewed up the end of the crankshaft.$3200 fix.suv has been in shop for 5 weeks and will remain there for at least 5 more until i can get the money to fix it.kia should recall this model as well, they already recognized the problem in 2003 and 2004 models.i am a single mom, raising boys without the benefit of child support or any other help.kia should stand behind their workmanship!

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The failure mileage was 80,000.the consumer stated as her daughter was driving, the check engine light illuminated, and there was a horrible noise coming from the engine. The vehiclewas taken to the nearest service center, one mile down the road from her home, but the vehicle became more difficult to steer and when her daughter pulled in the parking lot, she could no longer steer the vehicle and all of the instrument panels light illuminated. The mechanic stated the repair would require the engine being pulled and to repair or replace the crankshaft or replace the engine entirely. Either way, it would be costly.updated 05/19/14updated 06/10/14*ljupdated 06/13/2014

The crankshaft bolt sheared off, causing the harmonic balancer to fail. The engine stalled and i coasted to safety. This happened on the interstate at 75mph.kia is aware of this and should be held liable.

While drivingalmost home, (2-miles) the power steering stopped, we pulled intoa gas station, barely missing the fuel pumps. The belt came off. When the mechanic assessed the problem, it was much greater.the harmonic balancer was loose, and the drive pin to the cam belt gear had sheered off.the repairs were costly $1300.00.this is a design defect and has affected thousands of kia owners.theowners are like myself and don't know what to do, sowe just pay the bill.. I was driving down the street in my kia sorento 2006 when i heard a loud bang. All of a sudden my car started to break down. The power steering went out, followed by my brakes and finally, my check engine light came on as the rest of the car started to fall apart on the road. The car completely died in the middle of an intersection. My car was towed to a local bp where after inspection i was informed that my engine crank bolt had blown off, destroying my crank shaft, pistons, belts, etc. My engine is ruined and cannot be fixed.

On 09/18/2014 arriving home i started to hear loud rumble noises coming from the engine, took it to a local shop and was told it might be the pulleys, however, it was determined the next day - different shop that could make the repairs, the crankshaft pin sheared off (this work was previously done on march 2014 at a total of 1,800+ and here it is again!).mechanic at the shop was the one that saved me $$ this time as he noticed the work as very recent, and suggested i take it back to where the repair had been done in march. One week later - 09/26/2014 i had my car back. However, i suspect this will happen again, since there are so many others having the same problems, and how many other repair shops continue to order the same part over and over. Really? hello kia, they need to step up to this situation, before someone is killed. I am so glad i listen to my suv and took it in for servicing, as this could have had disastrous results if i were on the highway going at a higher speed. The best thing here was the honest mechanic! i will never get another kia, and if it does happen again, that's when i will get another vehicle. As i continue to drive, i feel that my suv is just not the same, the engine may have had some damage to which i have no idea how serious. I learned about a year ago that the kia 2006 suv/sorento we a very bad year for this model and it is true, this is not the only high costing repair i have had to pay for, and i do not even have 60,000 on it yet! worse suv i have ever brought! never again.this vehicle is not safe, you never know what will happen as you are driving, and i always rent instead of taking this vehicle, i have no confidence at all.

I was driving and noticed the 4-wheel light came on. I stopped the car and waited a few minutes. When i turned the car back on it was making a noise. Upon further investigation, i found the crankshaft very loose. The car is presently at the repair garage awaiting an estimate.

We are the original owners of this vehicle.the engine shuts down-quits at any speed (even idle) last time at 60 miles an hour on the freeway. Luckily was able to get to the shoulder w/o being rear ended. The vehicle refused to start for about 10 minutes. Then i gotit started and ran rough a couple of minutes then cleared up the rest of the way. Another occasion the engine quit in the middle of an intersection in 5:00 traffic, causing bad conjestion. The engine light is triggered occasionally but no repair codes are seen when the computer is hooked up. This is happening about every 3 -4 days and maybe 2 x's in a day. This has happened ever since the dealer changed the timing belt-regular maintenence about 80,0000 mi. The vehicle was running and sounding just great before the kia dealer did this. On the way home, the vehicle went dead and had no power. Got the dealer to take it back. Things were not plugged in--alternator etc. The mechanic was in a hurry to leave for the weekend. Now left lifter bank clatters upon startup a code was given that the dealer did not clear the computer when the belt was changed. We cleared it and the engine still quits. The dealer went out of business (go figure). Also the air conditioning quit due to a line that was split possibly when the mechanic was working on the timing belt. Someone is going to get hurt(accident) if this vehicle continues to do this.no one seems to know what is wrong.

Wife was driving 40 mph when the engine light and brake light came on with no warning. The engine stopped and she had no power steering and also no brakes. She was able to coast to a side road and barely got the vehicle to stop. The steering was very difficult. If it would have broke another 200 feet ahead she would not have been as lucky since there is a very sharp and dangerous curve. The curve has a single guard rail that she more in likely would have went through resulting in a 400 foot drop down a steep hill. Possibly resulting in a fatal crash.the vehicle was towed to coughlin kia dealership in newark ohio. We were informed that the crankshaft bolt had broke in the motor. This caused the timing pulling and main pulley to break off. The result was major engine damage.the service manager contacted his kia regional rep.and was informed the damage was not covered under the 10 yr./100000 mile warranty. We did have the same dealership replace the timing chain 2yrs. Earlier at appr. 57000 miles as kia requires this maintenance done before 60000 miles.they also replaced the crankshaft bolt as kia recommends it also. This was a cost of nearly $800 for this service. The estimate for the engine replacement is $4000 on a vehicle valued at $6000. Kia refuses to deal with this issue on these motors. Their was arecall on the 03 & 04 engines but the problem still exist. It is just a matter of time before someone will be killed driving these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated while driving 40 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and attempted to restart the vehicle but the vehicle would not turn over. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who suggested the contact take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer who stated that the crank shaft bolt was fractured, as well as the push rods. The dealer advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the engine replaced. The failure mileage was 46,400.

I was driving on the highway in slushy snow and the brake light & battery light came on.the engine sounded rough. When i went to pull of the highway, i had no power steering.

2006 kia sorento.consumer writes in regards to design defect with the engine crankshaft sprocket.consumer has previous correspondence with different odi# (nar) and issue in artemis.the consumer state if the bolt breaks, the engine will stall and power steering will be lost.

The contact owned a 2006 kia sorento. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact was informed by a passing motorist that the vehicle was on fire. The fire department was notified and was able to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries and no reports were filed. The vehicle was destroyed and remained at the scene of the fire. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. The vin was not available.

While driving down highway, both the break light and battery light came on and lost power steering. Was able to make it to a safe location. When at first glance it appeared that the main belt has slipped off the pulley. When towed to a service station for assessment and repair, it was discovered that the harmonic balancer bolt had broken off in the crankshaft. We are still in process of trying to find out of the remaining part of the bolt can be removed or if the entire engine will need to be replaced. The bolt is not considered a 'working part' of the engine and extended warranty refuses to cover the repairs. The root of the problem is in the roll pin inside the casing that wears down and the bolt can not support the stress. Kia has had a recall on model years 2003 and 2004 but the problem continues for 2005 and 2006 years and research is showing that kia is not covering the problem for 2005 or 2006

From the moment i purchased my kia sorento my family has had nothing but issue. From replacing light bulbs monthly to valve cover leakage to now a knock under the hood. It has 113,000 miles and has been maintained. I would never recommend buying another kia to anyone with all the issues we have had.

After doing preventive maintenance replacing timing belt at 60k the drive pulley bolt loosened (after three hours of driving) and the drive pulley popped off the shear pin, loosing control to the steering, breaks that are run by the serpentine belt .mechanic was able to reconnect drive pulley, pin and bolt to crank shaft.five months later the same happen.kia customer service is not returning calls.kia dealer say's needs a new engine. My vehicle was not one of the ones on the drive bolt recall. The internet is full of people with the same problems spending thousands to repair.

Less than a year prior, timing belt needed replaced. A costly fix.only months later due to problem(common issue kia is aware of) with crankshaft sensor, vehical stalled and died driving down the road. There was no warning for this and when the engine stopped while going down the highway, i lost all control of power stearing, speed, brakes and other main elecrical componets. I was in the middle of a curve of the highway when this occured.this threw me into ongoing traffic.luckily, i only hit a hwy traffic sign. The recalls for this vehicle needs to be updated and added to. This vehical should not be aloud on the road! its dangerous for everyone on the road.

My 2006 kia sorento, manufactured in august 2005 & was a basic vehicle, no luxury model.a rental car business was 1st owner and only had it for a few months, then i bought it from a dealer in sept 2006 w 14,000 miles.it is 8 years old with 108,000 miles. The check engine light turned on, i heard loud banging in the hood, then suddenly it turned off while i was driving on city streets.traffic was slow moving.i had it towed to an expert mechanic and owner of his own shop.my mechanic has done some preventive maintenance in the past and considered it to be in excellent condition.he took the engine apart and found pieces broken off from the "intake runner butterfly valve assembly & fell into the engine; also there was a bushing failure in the lower induction manifold. My 3.5 engine was totaled within minutes along with all surrounding parts.the same engine as in the recall. My kia has a 3.5 engine, same as in the recall bulletin #tt2008020601.the recall bulletin was for kia models 2003-2005, yet this exact incident was described in the recall bulletin.i have two photos of some of the damage (1st photo is the intake runner assembly w/two broken missing butterflies for cylinders 5 & 6 & the 2nd photo of a piece of the butterfly stuck in the intake port of the cylinder head -both taken on 9-12-2014.)i then had it towed to a garden grove kia dealership.they inspected & gave me an estimate of $11,700.all they said it was out of warranty and that 2006 models was not part of the recall.how can kia corporation guarantee that the same inferior parts were not installed in my 2006 sorento?it was manufactured in 2005.kia corporation should take responsibility for the damage due to the fact that this problem was not completely resolved with the 2005 models.

I have a 2006 kia sorento.my 16 year old daughter was driving her brothers to practice and the car totally locked up, the engine failed, she had loss of the power steering, loss of the cooling system, all together loss of control of the vehiclewhile she was driving and fortunately, for us, she was able to get it off the road safely.this was an extremely hazardous condition not only to her and her brothers but to other drivers on the road and that were around.we had the car towed to a mechanic and he said the bolt sheared off in the engine and he could not get to it and the whole engine would need to be replaced.he suggested we tow it to the local kia mechanics.after having it towed to the kia dealership, it was confirmed that the crankshaft bolt sheared off causing damage. I was further told this has been a recurring issue with kia sorentos and there was even a recall on this extremely dangerous issue.the dealership tells me my car is not included in the recall.i am at a complete loss as to how this is an on going documented problem with the bolt in models just prior to my sorento being recalled and the same issue existing in my vehicle and it is not included when it is quite obvious that the problem is the same. Notonly did they put my children in a dangerous situation by not disclosing or providing some solution to a problem that they are well aware of and is documented, they have now caused extreme distress.there is a flaw in the manufacturing of their vehicles and an obvious breakdown in their recall process and as a result their customers are suffering!this is a safety issue that should be resolved quickly.thank goodness no one was hurt, this time!these are people'slives that they are putting at risk daily!

The same thing has happened three times now. Driving down the road and all of a sudden the brake lights come on, check engine light comes on and now you have no power steering. When popping your hood, you find the two of the three belts have come off and the cam stabilizer pulley has either broke off and the car is no longer running or is wobbling and about to detach from the engine. What has happened is the pin has broke and the bolt has broke or is about to break. This last time that this has happened, i was 80 miles away from home and by the grace of god made it home with my mom and child riding passenger in the car with me. This is a very serious issue and will end up causing a wreck and possibly death.

Car at first would shut off while driving , pulled car over and would start back up, took car to mechanic and said it was the crankshaft sensor, replace crank shaft sensor, few weeks later problem return, mechanic thought it was the camshaft sensor still had the problem of car shutting off while driving in city and highway.finally after months of back in and out of the mechanics while driving crankshaft bolt broke while driving, affecting the harmonica balancer and timing belt causing the vehicle to lose all power in the car and had no power steering, very little control of the vehicle, coasted into driveway luckily no on-coming cars , after spending several hundreds of dollars for repairs, mechanic is telling me the engine is no good, car is undrivable needs new engine at cost of 5300 dollars.

My 2006 kia sorento has had a few problems that i fear may be very dangerous. A few months ago i was driving on highway and it felt like it was speeding up on its own. As i got off the highway on an s curve the car completely died. The battery and check engine light came on. It started back up and i got to work. The next morning on the way to work it died again at the same spot on the off ramp. I had to have it towed and missed a day of work because of it. I brought it into the shop and mechanic said the alternator belt was loose and he fixed it. However its happened since numerous times when i turn the car off and try to start it again the car wont start at all for 20 minutes to a couple hours. Now recently it will shut off as i'm driving and steering wheel is very hard to turn. It is getting more and more frequent and is effecting work. Kia dealerships refuse to fix it at cost even though it seems like a big problem that many kia customers have had to deal with. Other mechanics say they don't even want to touch the problem because of the reviews of problems on the internet. Please inform me and anything i can do as soon as possible.

Overheated on highway wouldnt run nevember 201512/23/2015 $3,687.71 engine replacement03/30/2016-05/23/2016 jeff smith automulti pt. Inspection replace coils wires plugs timing crank and cam sensors clean tank and replace fuel pump $2,995 and car still had to be towed to the location it sits at now

I was merging onto a highway when all of a sudden i heard a loud thud and my battery light & e brake light came on and i lost power steering. I was able to drive the vehicle to a local mechanic who informed me that the harmonic balancer had fallen off due to the crankshaft bolt shearing off. Once it was fixed by an ase certified mechanic, approximately 8000 miles later i was driving to work and the car started shaking like i was driving on rumble strips. I took it back to a service garage and after replacing the harmonic balancer and crankbolt again they came to the conclusion that the crankshaft was bent. The garage suggested replacing the entire crankshaft and balancer and then having the engine rebalanced or a complete engine replacement both of which are greater than $3500 to repair on a vehicle that's worth about $5500..it's been approximately $2000 that i've already spent to correct this problem and the problem still exists. It's at a local kia dealership now, where i purchased the vehicle and they told me that it's not fixable and they can only recommend to replace the engine which would cost $6,700 for a used engine with 71,000 miles on it. It seems that this same issue happens on these motors between 60k and 90k miles then from doing some research, it seems after repairs are done the same problem happens approximately 6k-10k miles later. After looking into it, it leads me to believe that the only cause of this problem would be manufacturer defects and faulty parts. This has caused me to be out of a vehicle since mid november of 2012. It's disturbing with how many other complaints i'm reading on this site about the same exact thing!

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving 40 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the brake, check engine, and battery warning indicators illuminated. Also, the vehicle became difficult to steer. The vehicle was towed to an independent dealer where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft pulley bolts fractured, which caused the pulley and the serpentine belts to separate from the engine. The mechanic was unable to repair the vehicle and the vehicle was towed to arapahoe kia (9701 e arapahoe rd, centennial, co 80112, (888) 236-7975). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the alternator, brake and temperature warning lights illuminated and the power steering failed. The vehicle was moved to the shoulder. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the crankshaft bolt fractured and caused the fan belt and the water pump to become inoperable. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostics. The failure mileage was 83,500.updated 3/20/13 the consumer stated the alternator and engine lights illuminated and the power steering failed. The crank shaft bolt broke and caused the steering damper to shift sideways, which caused the two belts on the damper pulley to be thrown off.

Was sitting parked thankfully but the crankshaft bolt sheared off causing loss of power steering and loss of alternator.this is the second time this has happened within a year.thankfully we weren't in motion when this happened.please investigate as this keeps happening and has happened to a lot of kia sorento owners (looking online).kia issued a service memo telling the service people to use an upgraded bolt, however we had the upgraded bolt and the issue still occurred.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated. System was in the shop for routine maintenance i.e. New spark plugs, drive belts, and spark plug wires.picked up the vehicle and drove fine for a day.upper cat converter got clogged... Things just went down hill from there.crankshaft seal busted, oil pump failed, water pump had to be replaced.engine rods started knocking.engine has to be rebuilt. Have been unable to drive my sorento since march 2013.bought the sorento in october 2012.just had the sorento in the shop for engine rebuild. Had money set aside from tax returns. I paid the original quoted amount to have the rebuild done. It is costing me $2000 in addition to the base cost that was originally quoted.i don't have that kind of money just laying around for those types of repairs.oh well... Guess i won't be driving my car for another whole year.oh... One more thing.... Since i am the second owner kia refused to service the vehicle without them wanting over $8000 for a new motor... Fyi.... Kia warranty's and bbb are both worthless..

Car dies while driving.no check engine light appears.later car starts and runs fine until a few days later at next failure.driver loses engine, power steering, and power brakes.engine code finally appears after 3rd incident and is p0337 - crank shaft positioning sensor. This is a safety issue and may lead to a crash or death since driver looses all functions of vehicle.dealer at kia cerritos, calif. Seemed unconcerned and stated that nothing could be done under warranty, since warranty had expired, even with low mileage.this is safety issue and should be repaired as a recall.independent auto repair shop group data bases show 100's of incidences of same part failure and engine code with kia sorento and low vehicle mileage.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that all the lights illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was advised that the crankshaft pulley bolt was stripped and caused the power steering belt to spin abnormally. The dealer also advised that the bolt could not be replaced and that the vehicle would need a replacement engine. The failure and the current mileage was 60,300.

Auto losing speed on acceleration and car running poorly, then quit completely. Had towed to nearest shop for repair. Also had timing belt changed at the same time, per kias required maintenance at 60,000 mi.on feb. 18, 2011, repairs were made: crankshaft bolt was gone and cotter pin sheered off. These items were fixed along w/timing belt replacement.. June 15, 2011, car losing speed on acceleration and running very badly. I was on highway. I did make it home. I had aaa come and tow it to my normal repair shop, the dorsch kia dealer.dorsch opened her up and said bolts were not tightened down properly. Meantime, performance auto were i originally took my car showed me a bulletin on my make and model that showed issues with this bolt stretching and coming off and or cracking off. Further, they will not replace any parts or labor because it is kia's issue they said. Now my car is at kia dealership and my pockets are empty.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact heard a clunking noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel then became difficult to maneuver. The brake and check engine lights also illuminated on the instrument panel during the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. The mechanic stated that the crank shaft bolt fractured, causing the crank shaft pulley to detach from the vehicle. The power steering belt also became loose and caused the power steering to fail. There was a voluntary recall for the 2004-2005 kia sorento addressing the crank shaft pulley failure. The manufacturer stated that the 2006 model was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

Car stalls while driving without any warning. It has stalled in intersections and just riding down the road. When the vehicle stalls it just cuts off and my steering wheel locks up and you have no time to pull over. Almost rear ended 3 times in a week.

Driving on the highway 230 miles from home, 150 miles from my destination brake light and battery light came on. Pulled off road loss of steering power.opened hood and found belts off. Towed to nearest town in the middle of nowhere and mechanic diagnosed the crankshaft (harmonic balancer) bolt had sheered off and broken piece still in crankshaft.towed to nearest kia dealership 150 miles away and was told possible crankshaft/engine damage.could not do further diagnosis due to weekend (saturday) and will need to stay in town until car is repaired (no other transportation).no loaner car offered.this is a dangerous common occurrence with kia sorento owners that the company seems to know about but does not want to address or cover cost of repairs. Recall on bolt for 2003 models does not cover later models but dangerous situation still exists with those later models.i am afraid to drive my car after it is repaired knowing that other owners have had this problem reoccur and loss of power steering at highway speed is a dangerous situation.

Under normal operation at highway speed, the crankshaft bolt broke and allowed the harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley assembly to come free of the crankshaft.this resulted in a broken crankshaft sprocket, crankshaft position sensor and timing belt. The vehicle was not covered under warrantee because it is not considered part of kia's drivetrain because it is not a lubricated part. The vehicle was out of service for 14 days.on september 22, 2011 the same bolt came loose and snapped the spring pin aligning the balancer with the crankshaft sprocket.this resulted in the loss of power steering and charging system while my wife and daughters were traveling in the vehicle.the vehicle was not up to speed yet so the damage was minimal.the bolt had to be removed as well as the balancer.the spring pin had to be drilled out of the crank sprocket and replaced.the vehicle was out of service for 7 days.

Crankshaft harmonic balance bolt keeps breaking.been replaced 2 times now.saw on some other websites where other people are having the same problem.some of them are getting lawyers because kia is refusing to fix the problem.my warranty ran out so they won't fix .all of my repairs have been at my own expense.

25 minute drive to town. Squealing sound. Pulled over, the crank shaft pulley was so loose that the bolt could be hand tightened. Mechanic said pin fell out and bolt sheered. May need new engine. Could have destroyed the crank shaft. Also have transmission hesitation, the 4x4 low light on dash goes on and the transmission kicks in low . Have to sit and wait for it to go off. This happens with out the button being turned on. This kia only has 79,000 highway miles. Its amess. This crank shaft harmonic balancer should last the life off the vehicle. Some one is going to die or get seriously injured because when this happened you could not steer the kia or use brakes.

Was traveling on highway 65mph tried to change lanes but the steering had gone out, had to turn steering wheel very hard to get it to turn, once i pulled over and looked beneath hood the belts were no longer turning and could see what look like a pulley laying at bottom of engine. Matt castrucci kia in dayton, ohio stated that my bolt had broken off and caused my pulley to break. Have read a lot of complaints on this happening on kia's sorento, enough that a investigation should have taken place by now. What has to happen before this is investigated. Does someone have to die first?

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the headlights and rear lights had to be replaced at a minimum of one time per year. The contact had to constantly replace the bulbs for the lights but the vehicle had not yet been to the dealer for inspection of the recurring failure.in addition, the vehicle would stall sporadically and without warning.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated to the contact that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 71,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact was driving approximately 20 mph when there was a sudden loss of power with the illumination of the warning indicators on the instrument panel.the steering wheel became extremely difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the failure was contributed to a defective crank shaft pulley bolt and the engine would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,300.

Crankshaft bolt sheared off in may 2010 at 63,000 miles causing $1200 in damage and towing.after having a kia dealer fix the issue out of my pocket because i'm a "second owner", the issue happened again in july 2011 at 101,000 miles.the dealer again has to repair with similar costs out of my pocket.this is extremely dangerous as the belt connecting to the crankshaft pulley is also attached to the alternator which, when broke, causes a loss of all power, even while the car is at full driving speed.this is also an extremely expensive issue which after several conversations with kia, they have yet to acknowledge is a problem.

After hearing a loud screeching noise from my engine i called the dealer & told them i was coming in, my car stalled on the way in. The dealer said my crank shaft pulley bolt broke, causing damage to my crank shaft sensor & my timing belt which i had replaced a few months back. I am just learning that this is a very common problem and that kia is aware of this defective bolt and refuses to cover the damage caused to the engines when it breaks.

The issue is with 2 kias i bought within the last year. Both automobiles hadair conditioner compressors that failed within months of me purchasing it. The first kia i bought was a sedona 2003. The second is a sorento 2006 i bought november 2009.

Fitting that connects hose to radiator snapped in half causing coolant to leak and engine to overheat. Informed by repair shop that this can be temporarily fixed by installing a brass fitting using epoxy but that the only permanent repair is to replace the entire radiator.

Crankshaft torque bolt sheared off causing the braking and steering to become stiff resulting in greatly diminished control of the vehicle.the pulley assembly began to squeal resulting in parking the vehicle until it was time to take it to the dealership for service of the concern.enroute to the dealership the brake and engine light appeared and braking became sluggish and steering appeared to be stiff.was able to make it to the dealership and i opened the hood seeing that the serpentine belt had come off.the following day the dealership notified me that the crankshaft torque bolt had sheared off and they were calling kia to determine a fix for replacing the bolt or if the engine would need replaced.after some brief research this appears to be a recurring problem for several kia models and model years.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact started the vehicle and heard a strange noise. He proceeded to drive the vehicle and it stalled at 30 mph. The instrument panel indicators illuminated. The dealer stated that the crankshaft pulley became loose and the bolt was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the brake and battery lights illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart moments later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that a bolt in the crank shaft was fractured and the engine would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,440. 8/26/13 the consumer also stated the belts and crank pulley broker

When the a/c turns on, a belt slips noticeably and the power dips.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento.the contact stated that the air conditioning failed to work during a heat wave.there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel during this time.in addition, the clutch failed.new brake pads and rotors were installed and the contact must downshift in order to stop the vehicle.the vehicle has been taken to two dealers and two mechanics.the failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 43,000.

I just got my kia a year ago and i love it but we are changing the head lights every month and i never get the recalls in the mail for anything so i think it needs to be looked at. Buying lights every month add up to a lot of money after awhile. And if i was driving down the road and both went out at night someone could get hurt.

I have replaced both front headlamps and rear brake lamps. The rear lamps have had to be replaced several times. There is definately a defect, as lamps should last more than a few thousand miles.

I have had to replace the lightsat least three times a year on this vehicle since ownership many times. In addition, i have had to replace the fuel pump 2 and the whole steering system twice also. I was told that there is a recall on the vehicles of my make, modeland year but not on my specific vehicle.so im stuck with a vehicle breaking down on me at least once a yearthat has a recall for other vehicles in the same model and year.

I purchased a 2006 kia sorento back in february 2011. Since i have purchased the vehicle i have replaced the headlights. 3 times. Every failure occurred on interstate 64. I have taken the vehicle to have them changed where they have not touched the lamps and have completed a proper install. It appears that for a second the vehicle has no power and the headlights flash off then on. The headlights going on then back on is a regular occurrence. The last occurrence yesterday 6/3/2011happened about 2 am while driving through daniel boone national forest and made the vehicle un-drivable until daytime hours when it could be safely driven to a shop for the headlights to be replaced again and left my family stranded on the side of the road unable to see to drive home for approximately some 45 miles from our home.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the headlights would flicker and he constantly had to replace the light bulbs. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who did not provide an actual diagnosis as to what was causing the failure and advised the contact to only use the light bulbs sold by the manufacturer, not aftermarket products. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.

Have replaced headlight bulbs 6 times, replaced brake lights 3 times, the dome light had complications with coming on when opening doors, license plate lite is out as we speak, also the lock on rear left makes a strange buzzing noise when you engage locks, car has a lot of electrical issues going on.

From the moment i purchased my kia sorento my family has had nothing but issue. From replacing light bulbs monthly to valve cover leakage to now a knock under the hood. It has 113,000 miles and has been maintained. I would never recommend buying another kia to anyone with all the issues we have had.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the passenger's side rear brake light was replaced on several occasions however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the brake light was replaced. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered recall nhtsa campaign number: 09v130000 (exterior lighting) which she linked with her failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Just driving down the road in the neighborhood. Made a turn on to a street and heard a loud noise and engine cut off and power steering had quitworking. If i was going fast would have been a wreck. I got it stopped and had to have it towed home. My husband looked under hood and a belt was loose and the crankshaft bolt was laying there broke off.called kia and they said it is not under warranty for that. I have 92,500 on my suv and the powertrain is for 100,000 miles but they say a bolt is not covered. I have read online - this has happened to several people. Now hundreds of dollars to have it fixed. Should be a recall before someone gets killed...also they should recall about the head and tail lights - they have to have a bulb replaced at least once a month and the interior light does not work. Has been this way since i bought the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the brake lights stopped illuminating intermittently. Additionally, while accelerating the vehicle jerked and decelerated suddenly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 09v130000 (exterior lighting) that could have been related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.

I purchased this car in new in 2006 i have replace four tail lights and as of today when the head light went out this will be the fifth headlight, i am afraid for my daughter to park in the garage in case it should set the house on fire, there is obviously a short in the electrical system.

I replace the headlights and fog lights at least every 3-6 months, i've even replace parking lights and tail lights.i bought my 2006 kia brand new and every year since, its the same thing...kia really needs to address this, as these sorentos can run forever but if we can't see where we are going, that's a problem.

I have a 2006 kia sorento.i bought the car brand new.since that time i have had to change the exterior front and back lights a least 3-4 times.the interior light has been change 1 time and the ac control panel goes off and on.the car has been evaluated 2 times while they were changing bulbs and nothing was found.i have spoken to another sorento owner and she has had the same problems.kia response to my complaint is they believe it is because the bulb is not their brand.the first couple of times i had them replaced with the bulbs and they did not last.i am filing a complaint because i believe this is a recall problem and i am afraid of what might happen next.if you have an questions you may contact me.

Headlights both sides will go out on regular basis without warning-dash lights go out on regular basis-a/c unit will short out causing burn smell -window switches and tail lights will stop working on regular basis i have found many complaints about these problems.

Our 2006 kia sorento burns out all lights on this car.i have change the headlights at least 10 times this year alone.we keep extra brakelights in the car because they go out at least every 3 weeks.i will burn this car in the middle of the street! something must be done.i have seen over 1000 complaints on this same model for the last 6 years.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact was driving 30 mph when the headlights overheated and failed. The contact stated that the bulbs would have to be replaced every three to six months. The contact did not take the vehicle to a dealer or a local mechanic for diagnosis or repairs. The failure mileage was 30,000.updated 03/24/11*lj

When i turn on my headlights, my interior lights stay on and will not turn off. I have had to take out the fuse to fix this problem with my interior lights staying on. It happened suddenly and i cannot seem to get it resolved.

The head and tail lights have to be replaced on a regular basis. I have replaced all 4 lights at least 6 - 10 times each, since buying the 2006 sorento brand new. And it is my understanding from numerous others that this is a norm with this make and model car. You can replace one light and it will be okay for awhile, but then another one will go out, i have asked the mechanicif this is normal, seeing i have not replaced the lights in my 1996 chevy a fraction of the times i have the sorento. The replay was, no this is not normal that their must be an electrical problem somewhere in the system. I also have problems with the cruise control feature. It will not resume, or accelerate. The other two buttons work as designed.

Had the car 2 years and have to replace the headlight bulbs 3 times.replaced within last 5 months and now are out again.

I have replaced well over 10 headlight bulbs in my kia sorento. I'm a fanatic about making sure my car is in the best of order. Once a bulb is out it is replaced the same day. At first i thought, "yeah bulbs burn out," but come on already. I have every receipt showing how many i have bought and replaced. What gives? dome lights, tail lights and such have been replaced too however there have been way more low-beam light bulbs replaced then i believe is normal.

I have replaced all exterior lights most of them have been my low beams.it has been well over 10 times and it hasn't just been one side. Also, i have replaced all other exterior lights in the last few years. This has been going on within a couple of months of purchasing the car new in jan. 2006. The service department never could find any problems. I don't think the lights should be replaced not at least in the extent i have.

Exterior lights need to be replaced often, also dome light inside vehicle.

Replaced driver and passenger headlight on january 3, 2009 with hi-performance sylvania headlights after initial headlights burnt out.the new headlights went out one by one on february 16th and 18th.have also replaced tail-light bulbs three times.interior dome light works on occasion and points towards a short.

Headlights blowing all the time. Also the windshield wipers have lost there park position and when they are turned off they stop in front of the drivers line of sight and makes it very difficult to see what is going on around you while driving. I have talked to several people that have the same make and model and year as mine and they are having the same problems.

Headlights (low beam), tail lights keep burning out every two to three months consistently.always have to replace which is not only expensive but a danger to myself and other drivers.car isa 2006 kia sorento ex.

Since purchasing my sorento in 2008 my husband has had to change headlights and\or break lights at least once a month sometimes more. On two occasions i was driving in the dark when i've lost both headlights and had to use the high beams.so in 7 years we have replaced approximately 84 headlights and/or breaklights.

2006 kia sorento - the headlights keep going out because of some kind of short or engineering flaw. Normal repair is to tap the lights and they come back on, however this is very dangerous as when they shut off cannot be controlled and could cause an accident. There are other kia owners online complaining of the same thing. My headlight bulbs are not burned out, and have not been replaced a fellow kia sorentoowner with the same problem showed me how to fix the problem.

Head lights blow out every couple months and the brake lights to and it happens at all time driving day and night when driving and parked

I have had to replace at least a head light and/or tail light about once every three months since i bought my vehicle.it seems like there is a short somewhere but none to be found; please help!

I have a 2006 kia sorento.i have had to replace the battery twice (so including the original it has gone through 3 batteries since 06),i have had (and continue) to replace the bulbs in the headlights and brake lights.the dome light has ceased to work as well.i have been made aware that i am not alone in this problem but kia is not interested in doing anything about it.this is a safety issue. This last time, i drove to my destination and all was well, then when i came out to drive home..poof, the driver low beam was out.any help will be appreciated.

My sister-in-law owns a 2006 kia sorento and both rear tail lights are out and do not function, only the 3rd middle light works.i have since personally observed 4 kia sorentos in the los angeles area on the road with the left, right or both rear tail lights not functioning.i have also observed 3 kia sorentos in the sf bay area with the same problem.other kia products may also have this issue but it is a major problem/concern with the sorento.this is a safety issue and may result in an accident or injury.your action to contact the manufacturer is needed for a long term solution and/or recall.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while decelerating, the brake lights failed to illuminate. The contact also stated that the failure occurred intermittently and the brake lights erroneously illuminated when not decelerating. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 09v130000 (exterior lighting: brake lights: switch). The approximate failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 66,000.updated 03/01/13*lj

Front headlights on kia sorento 2006 model continues to burn out or flash on their own have replaced 6 sets of lights in front and have on 38,000 miles first set was at 16,000 and every 6 to 8 months there after.

Both headlights (low beam) were out.took the vehicle to the dealership and had to pay $98.15 to get them replaced.the dealership said the warranty is good for 12 months or 12,000 miles.a couple of months back i also had both tail lights go out and had to pay for them as well.

I own a 2006 kia sorento. Several months ago we noticed an issue with gas spraying back when trying to fill the tank. We went to the kia dealer where we bought our vehicle to learn the dealership had been sold. We notified the new dealer of our need to have warranty work done, explained the problem and was told that no warranty work could be done until they were given "codes" from the parent company. We made many calls over several months and was finally told not to call the dealer, they had our information and would call us. The situation with the gas tank seemed to settle until two week ago when the same problem occurred only to a greater degree, there is a great deal of spray back, and the tank cannot be filled. We returned to the dealer and was told this was a vapor valve issue and since our car now had 70000 miles the warranty would not apply. There is no record of our calls nor is there any record of the "codes". I have initiated a complaint with the parent company, to no avail. After reviewing some of the literature i have noted that kia has had issues similar to this since 1999 with a nhtsa investigation of gas tank leaks in may 2006. I believe that the same defect that was in the kia sportage is in the kia sorento. There seems to be a growing population of kia owners who are having the same issue. Since my issue seems to be the same as many other kia owners who have had gas tank problems, i do not feel i should have to pay in excess of 500 dollars to correct a problem that kia knew they had. Both the dealership and the parent company refuse to acknowledge this issue even though there is significant documentation of this exact issue being investigated over time. Thank youpaul leblanc

We have a 2006 kia the suv type and the proble is that when we filled the gas tank the gasa gauge would would go to emptyin 32 miles and al so the shifter handel poped out the holder

Smell of gasoline coming from vehicle around the filler neck

When i am filling my gas tank with gas, the gas spits back out at me.the engine is off when i'm filling my gas tank and the car is stationary.

Constant strong raw gas odor inside vehicle and near exterior rear of vehicle while ignition off and after ignition engaged. No exterior leaks present. Poor gas mileage.

I was dropping my son off at daycare. I attempted turn left and my battery, brake, and check engine light came on. My steering also went out. I turned off the car and turned back it on. Car was fine until i tried to turn, same thing happened again. I turned the car off and walked my son the rest of the way to daycare. When i returned i started the car and heard a loud screeching sound. I drove it less than a mile back home and opened the hood to see where the sound was coming from. None of my belts were moving and checked my liquids and topped everything off. Still nothing then i noticed the pulley was wobbling. While removing the radiator fan to get a closer look i realized the plastic nipple that connects to the hose had been completely disintegrated and broken off. I bought a new radiator and tightened the pulley but the problem still existed. Now i've learned the the crank pulley bolt has broken and is going to cost me 2000 some odd dollars to fix. After reading the kia forum i see that he radiator and bolt is more than a common issue for the kia. I'm on probation period at my job and will most likely lose my job and my vehicle. I hope enough people have reported this issue and there is something being done to resolve it.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that she smelled fuel coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis, who stated that the fuel tank was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but refused any assistance to the contact. The failure mileage was 72,900 and the current mileage was 73,100.

When i turn on my headlights, my interior lights stay on and will not turn off. I have had to take out the fuse to fix this problem with my interior lights staying on. It happened suddenly and i cannot seem to get it resolved.

Exterior lights need to be replaced often, also dome light inside vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While parked, the contact noticed that the electronic door locks would not open electronically, only manually. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

On 11/23/15 i was driving down 85s when i hit something in the road. Had to pull over cause it sounded like the bottom of my car fell out. After waiting 2hrs for help we nticed that the driveshaft (2part shaft) broke off, punctured my gas tank, my cable that runs to my transmission and put a good size hole in the bottom of my back seat. The shop told me that this a reoccuring problem with this type of vehicle. After looking more closely we noticed a lot more damage that was caused by this. My car is still at the shop as of today since we are waiting on insurance. But, this car has given me more trouble than anything in my life! i will never get a kia again! and the biggest problem is kia won't do anything about this! in the past my car started to shake once i got over 30mph, my dash lights and engine lights don't work (and yes we've checked fuses, the shop has looked and we don't know why they don't work.) guess this is what i get for buying a car from a crook of a used car lot!

The crankshaft bolt sheared off, causing the harmonic balancer to fail. The engine stalled and i coasted to safety. This happened on the interstate at 75mph.kia is aware of this and should be held liable.

While driving down the highway, the crankshaft bolt broke inside the crankshaftcausing steering problems, and the car shutdown.this is very dangerous and could cause death by losing steering control or a serious accident with others due to lost of power.

While driving in busy city traffic, heard a loud clunky noise, loss of power steering capabilities immediately along with brake and battery lights appearing on dash. Vehicle taken to local dealership service department where it was found that "crank bolt broken off the crankshaft, removed crank bolt with easy out, replaced damaged crank sprocket, damper pulley, and crank bolt."now ten (10) months later and 7000 miles (approximately) we have the same issue identical to the original. Am currently waiting for resolution from dealership where the vehicle was purchased and serviced. It is currently there waiting repair or replacement. Seems this is an issue that is not fixed by simply repairing or replacing the crank bolt as it has happened twice with my vehicle, leading me to believe that there is a stressor elsewhere! more than likely a manufacturers defect of the engine block somewhere.

It doesnt shift parts of the transmission seems like fallling off. Loose power steering and brakes dont work

I have been the owner of 2 brand new kia sorrentos, a 2004 and a 2006. With both vehicles i have had the same problem with the brakes shaking (sometimes violently) after only 6,000 to 8,000 miles. When taken to be looked at i was told the rotors were warped and needed to be replaced, at my own cost because "brakes are a wear item". I have a friend with a 2005 sorrento that has dealt with the same problem. This is obviously a huge problem with the sorrento line and you would think they would try to make customers happier and make strong parts.

I have a 2006 kia sorento the rear housing axle has rusted all the way . And there is large hole from the rust and oil dripping out. And the body has is already starting to rust. This vehicle has been taken care of. I've have washed and waxed and kept it . But it didn't do any good. Kia needs to work to improve.

Recentlypurchased2006 kia sorento..recall #sc077 the brake lights interoir lights arenot working i replaced all bulbs and fuses..please help

While driving the vehicle home after buying it, the clutch pedal began sticking after it was depressed and not engaging, leaving the vehicle unpowered.i tried tapping the pedal in order to release it- sometimes this worked, sometimes not.

While driving heard a loud noise from engine causing loss of power steering.car towed to mechanic.diagnosis:crank bolt broken and laying in skid plate; part of broken crank bolt in crankshaft. Crank pulley sheared pin and moved forward causing power steering belt to come off and other belt misalignment.upon removal of broken crankshaft bolt, damage was found to crank gear and balancer pulley.the timing belt, tensioner and crankshaft bolt had all been replaced at 91,000.less than two months after replacing the crankshaft bolt, it sheared off causing major damage.losing power steering while driving is extremely dangerous.this is a known defect to kia that has not been corrected causing a major safety issue to all motor vehicle drivers and passengers.in addition, this is a very expensive repair issue.

Repeated problems with this vehicle. Not small problems. Life threatening problems. What is the nhtsa doing? why nothing, no questions, no nothing. Thousands upon thousands of consumers with no help from this public agency. Why? brake problems, widely known. Kia refuses to admit that the brakes don't work on their vehicles, the rotors have to be changed every 3 months. This is a safety hazard. I had many near accidents thinking my brakes were fine and then bringing my car in for an oil change and the rotors are gone, the guys are saying you are lucky to be alive. Now after repeated repairs, while driving the vehicle on 6/13/14 i was almost killed when my car nearly flew out of a high rise parking garage because the crankshaft pulley bolt sheared off causing my harmonic balancer to come off. The result no brakes, no steering while in a high rise parking garage. What will it take? someone needs to die? why? why no enforcement of kia? please, please, please look into this. Why wouldn't you? if you just take 5 minutes to look on the internet, don't search really hard, just put in kia sorento or any kia and you will see thousands of reports like this. I can't believe that this agency, the agency tasked with looking into these things is not looking into this. Hundreds of people have made complaints on your own site but still nothing. Do these companies have to follow the rules of the usa or not because this is a foreign car manufacturer. Apparently not. Again, this has happened repeatedly, i am afraid of my car. My grandchildren ride in this car with me. I cannot afford another repair. In january it was a repair over 1200.00. I was laid off in may and now another repair of at least 3000.00 to 4000.00. I have only 53000 miles on my car. What will it take nhtsa? is it not worth your attention yet? how many lives before it is worthy of your attention?

The crankshaft pulley bolt sheared off on my 2006 kia sorento at 70,000 miles. This caused extensive damage the harmonic balancer which caused my belt to fall off its track. Kia has previously issued a recall on older models for this exact same part due to a manufacture defect. This is a major safety issue since this has also caused the steering to lock and drivers can loose control. Their are numerous complaints similar to this issue on the same year, make, and model. I am currently in the process of complaining to kia & the bbb regarding the repair since they don't feel responsible. The repair would consist of a new engine according to the dealership who hasn't been able to determine or explain the cause. It is imperative that this defect be investigated since it seems to be a common issue for several kia models and years.

Bolt sheared causing the harmonic balancer to fall off causing extensive damage to vehicle while driving.vehicle became very hard to steer.clearly this vehicle can not be safe to drive if bolts that hold the engine and steering just shear off.

We were just turning around a bend and all of the sudden, we lost power steering and the car lost power. Then we managed to pull it over to a parking lot. Then we needed to have the car towed.we have already contacted kia to see if there was a recall on it. They informed me that there wasn't that particular recall on that model. It is my understanding that this model should have bin included in the recall list.

In april 2010 the crankshaft pulley bolt and pin sheared off. I lost all power steering while driving 70 on the highway. Towed it to the dealership, had to pay out of pocket to fix the problem. Now in july 2011 the same thing had happened. The pin is sheared allowing the pulley to drop the belt, rendering my car inoperable. Kia dealership says it is still not covered by kia and will cost me again to fix it.

We have a 2006 kia the suv type and the proble is that when we filled the gas tank the gasa gauge would would go to emptyin 32 miles and al so the shifter handel poped out the holder

My 2006 kia sorento electric driver seat will not move so i can sit comfortably. I was working fine until the 25th of july.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving at various speeds, the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer diagnosed that the passenger seat sensor mat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 105,280.

I hydroplaned and swerved across the street in the oncoming lane and spun out and went up a ditch and hit a tree. I was ejected from the car (i was wearing my seat belt) and my seat back broke and i was ejected out of the car through the passenger's back seat door - i broke the door with my back going through it. I fractured a vertebrae in my back and had extensive bruises everywhere and a hairline fracture in my left arm. I would not have been so severely hurt had my seat not broke and i was ejected. The side passenger air bag deployed but not the driver's side. I was told i would not have been hurt as severely had i not been ejected. I missed almost 3 weeks of work and now wear a back brace and am in constant pain.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact noticed an abnormal noise coming from the brakes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear assembly fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,126.

It doesnt shift parts of the transmission seems like fallling off. Loose power steering and brakes dont work

Coming home from work about 2miles away from home, i lost power, my power steering, and electrical and i had to pull over and get towed to my home. Not happy cause kia knows about this issue!!!!

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the brake lights would sporadically illuminate. The independent mechanic replaced the brake lights. In addition, the air bag warning lights remained illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.

Recentlypurchased2006 kia sorento..recall #sc077 the brake lights interoir lights arenot working i replaced all bulbs and fuses..please help

Replaced front rotors,18,000,26,000 miles.needs to be replaced again at 30,000 miles. Both brake lights have been replaced. Replaced rear drive shaft and installed shielded wire from tcm to transmission sensor.

Like clockwork, every 6,000 - 8,000 miles the rotors warp.kia machined them the first 2 times, then after that said it is my driving habits and i had to pay.i have owned 15 cars in my lifetime and never had a single one warp.it causes the vehicle to shake when stopping, especially at higher speeds and i am afraid to drive out of town due to the mountainous regions that surround where i live (phoenix, az).

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 15 mph under normal road conditions, the brakes locked up.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the vehicle was towed to the service dealer, who replaced the brakes.the consumer has also had problems with the vehicle's cruise control

I have had to have extensive work on my brakes every 8000 miles. I can set my odometer by this it is so reliable. When i bought my sorento in 2006 within the first 8000 miles the brakes went out. The dealership agreed to change the rotors for me. In 8000 miles the shoes, rotors everything was bad again. I called the dealership, they refused to fix it. I went to them and they wanted to charge an exorbitant price so i went to my usual car repair shop. They changed the brakes and as usual within 8000 miles again the brakes. I went back to my car repair shop and they said this time it was the back brakes (the first time the front). They repaired them and assured me that this should not happen again before about 30k miles. Now after 8000 miles my brakes are again bad. I have now repaired my brakes, including new rotors and cylinders at 8000, 16,000, 23,000, 27,000 and now again at 36,000. My mechanic says this is the worst he's ever seen, a vehicle with no brakes is a deadly weapon, even if unintended.kia feels that they don't have to do anything about it and refuse to acknowledge this.i have complained repeatedly to kia, they do nothing. Their consumer portion of kia is a joke. They always say its the consumers fault. My car is 3 years, and almost 4 years old and i only have 29k miles on it so i am not a rough driver, not a long distance driver and am a 50 year old woman so its not like im out hotrodding. Please hold this company up to us standards.from now on i will only buy american made vehicles as i feel this company has no regard for rules set by my government, they are not concerned that someone may die, they don't care.

I bought this car new in july 2006 it had 200 miles on it when i drove it off the lot. A week after i purchased it the brakes were smoking on the drivers front side, i took it into the dealer they said i had driven over something and it was simply burning off (yeah right) a month later they brakes started grinding i took it in they resurfaced the rotors, about 3 months later the brakes were grinding again, they replaced the rotors, about 4 months later the brakes were squealing and grinding again and i took it in they said they could find nothing wrong with it yet when i left the dealership they brakes seemed fine. In december 07 the car began to shake and make a very loud thunderous noise at take off, i took it into the dealer and they said the "propeller" or otherwise drive shaft was a recall and needed to be replaced which did not happen until january 08 because they had to order the part. Now the brakes are bad again, and the dealer now wants to charge me over 300.00 to fix them!outrageous and totally unbelievable!

Brand new 2006 kia sorento - brakes started shaking after about 2,000 miles.at 8,000 miles the car would not stop.i was driving at about 45 mph and entering a turn lane.the light ahead was about to turn red.as i braked, it sounded like the wheels were spinning and the car would not stop.there was a heavy clanking noise and then the car finally stopped (while i was halfway into the intersection.)when the light turned green, i gently applied the gas and the tires sounded like they were spinning again and the car would not move for about 3-5 seconds.i immediately took my car into the dealership.they called me 3 hours later and said the car was fixed.they replaced both front rotors and did not have an explanation as to why the tiles spun when i applied the gas at the stop light.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento.the front window continued to develop frost in the passenger compartment.the contact noticed stress fractures on the windshield from within the vehicle.while making a right turn at 5 mph, the contact noticed additional cracks in the window.the contact is unable to see out of the front window due to the damage.the insurance company will authorize that the window be replaced.the dealer diagnosed the failure twice and charged the contact $50 per visit.they also stated that the windshield was not covered by the warranty and she should have done her research prior to purchasing the vehicle.the contact lives in a state where it snows frequently.she is currently unable to drive the vehicle when it snows due to the linkage between the steering and rear end of the vehicle, which prevents proper traction.the failure mileage was 18,800 and current mileage was 18,893. The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving 40 mph, the crankshaft fractured and the power steering failed. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and had it towed to community kia (4221 east fwy, baytown, tx 77521, 832-612-3807). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would be in communication with the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 74,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While the contact's daughter was driving 70 mph, she heard a loud bang and felt an impact underneath the vehicle. The driver noticed a piece of metal had detached from the vehicle. The vehicle independently pulled to the right and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft pulley bolt failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. A dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not eligible for a free repair because the mileage was over 100,000. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000. The vin was unavailable.

While driving down the highway, the crankshaft bolt broke inside the crankshaftcausing steering problems, and the car shutdown.this is very dangerous and could cause death by losing steering control or a serious accident with others due to lost of power.

I was driving on the highway in slushy snow and the brake light & battery light came on.the engine sounded rough. When i went to pull of the highway, i had no power steering.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that while traveling 60 mph, there was a sudden loss of power steering and the steering wheel locked with no warning. The vehicle was merged over to the side of the road and the contact was able to restart the vehicle which reset the computer. The contact stated that the vehicle was making an extremely loud abnormal noise when the failure occurred. The vehicle was parked at the contacts residence. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and indicated that a bolt fractured into the crank shaft. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop for further diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

It doesnt shift parts of the transmission seems like fallling off. Loose power steering and brakes dont work

I was turning at a stop light wheni loss power steering and nearly crashed.i was able to get it pulled over.i raised the hood and saw the crankshaft pulley lying on the the bottom skid plate.i looked on the internet only to find there are probably thousands of similar cases worldwide.i called kia .they basically blew me off!

Coming home from work about 2miles away from home, i lost power, my power steering, and electrical and i had to pull over and get towed to my home. Not happy cause kia knows about this issue!!!!

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that the rear frame over both the driver and passenger side rear wheels were corroded. The contact took the vehicle to two dealers. The contact was informed by the first dealer that nothing could be done because the vehicle was not under warranty and the contact was not the original owner. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact informed the manufacturer of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. The contact stated that when a passenger exited the front passenger side of the vehicle, the door handle cut her hand. The contact stated that the interior door handle's chrome paint peeled off where the seams met and caused the door handle to split, leaving shards of chrome exposed. The contact stated that the failure also occurred on the driver side interior door handle and, on another occasion, caused her to cut her hand. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The rear mount arm brackets rusted in half on both side of the rear axle.causing myself to almost wreck.i have huge records for maintenance and up keep on this vehicle that with all the money i had that i kept this vehicle well taking care of and only van be lead to a design flaw the the manufacturing

Hello, i purchased a car from george taylor aka micheal booker. When i brought. The car to tge mechanic he said that the axcel struts and hubs were glued togteher and it was melting i called mr booker to let him know to please give me my miney back he refused to. He said he would get it fixed if i paid for the parts i paud for the parts and the car is still not fixxed i took him to court and won he wont pay me is past thirty day and im still out of a car and my money..please help me

During a turn in a mall parking lot there was a loud noise from the left front side, it turned out to be a rusted through lower control arm for the left wheel.there was no warning of this, and because we live in a northern state, where road salt is a concern, this should be something that kia addresses.

While driving i heard a clunk. Soon after my vehicle developed a vibration while accelerating/braking. I figured it was snow in the wheel wheels causing the imbalance. After washing my car and ensuring all the snow was removed, i still felt vibrations while braking/accelerating. I figured maybe my brake rotors were warped which makes no sense as i replaced both brakes and rotors last year. I went to change them and when i lifted my vehicle i saw that both the driver and passenger side rear axle bracket was broken. After investigation, this is a well documented issue in the uk but not in the us. I currently cannot drive my car as it is dangerous to drive as the handling is unstable. The rear axle bracket rusted out and broke due to poor design flaw that causes water to pool and corrode the steel due to lack of drain holes. Rear endrusted to were it could of called a wreck this is unsafe and they should have kia recall these at once there are going thousands of reports of this this just about caused my wife to wreck it is the federal place to recall these at once

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While having the vehicle inspected, it failed due to corrosion of brackets on the axle of the vehicle. The contact was informed by the technicians that the bracket on the driver side had been completely rusted off. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia sorento. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the front of the vehicle shook violently, the steering wheel seized, and the brakes failed. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the universal joint failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.

Front end began excessive shaking on interstate at 65mph. Almost lost control, but managed to avoid a crash. The same shaking happens anytime i drive over a bump in the road on the right front tire now, but first problem happened at interstate speed. I have to pull over and stop moving to stop the shaking.happens at all speeds now.car is at kia dealer to replace sway bar link.very dangerous condition, especially at interstate speeds.i contacted kia consumer department. They were not receptive to the problem.

4-tires at 44 psi, 1-tire at 35 psi. All 5-tires should be at 44 psi.

On oct.8, 2015 my daughter was driving my truck and she started to hear a loud sound and was having difficulty steering. Several of the dash lights came on such as engine, brake, battery. She made it home, i came out to see what was wrong and looked under the hood. My dad and i looked and at the time both pulleys were moving and my dad just assumed it was a loose bolt on the pulley and it needed to be tighten. The next day oct.9, 2015, i took my truck down to an auto shop still having trouble steering and still hearing a loud noise. When i popped the hood and the mechanic looked under the hood we both noticed that the pulley had stop moving. The shop was actually at there closing so i had to drive it back home. The next day oct.10, 2015 i went to try and take my truck down to the shop and could start it. It would turn over but would not start, so they had to come and tow it away. The mechanic assumed without taking it off that i would need an harmonic balancer, upon taking this part off he noticed the bolt was loose. While removing this part the bolt broke in half lodging into the engine block. I was told that there was an recall on this particular part, so i called kia consumer line to check they told me there isn't one on my truck. Kia suggested that i buy a new engine. The bolt to the pulley cost between $7- $10.49. I also searched and priced an rebuilt or used engine that would run lowest $2,001.50 and up. I am still making payments on this car and the repairs will cost just as much as the remainder of payments that i have. I can't afford to buy an engine. I have noticed that this has been a problem for kia sorento's for some time now. There actually was an recall on this same part some years back. After reading several reviews about this same problem i see it hasn't been resolve and still remains a problem today.

When i purchased this 2006 kia it had less the 70,000 miles on it. Within 6 months of purchase the crank shaft bolt fell out when it was going 50 miles per hour. Lost steering and brakes. Had to replace crank shaft, bolt, gear, timing belt. Then the brakes froze up, then the muffler system by the o2 sensor , then battery, alternater, water pump. Know the 4x4 low light stays on so it needs a throttle sensor, and i found out today that the rear axle case is rusted out. This vehicle only has 87,000 miles. I have spent thousands. The axle should be under the 100,000 mile warranty. Can't even check the rear axle because it can't be opened. I have filed with you before about these vehicles. The crank shaft bolt should last the life of the vehicle. So should the axle case. The rear windshield wiper just rusted off. The throttle sensor as well should last the life of the vehicle. All these things shouldn't go wrong on a vehicle with 87,000 miles. These are not normal maintance. Kia sorrento first generation is an unsafe vehicle. If the 4x4 low should kick in while i am driving at 55 mph, it will blow tranny and i could flip, there already is a warning about sudden movement and roll over.

I took my 2006 kia sorentoto kia to have timing belt replaced and at that time they told me that the crank shaft pulley bolt was stripped, and the car was not safe to drive, because the crank shaft bolt could not be tightened.

About a week ago, i was unloading groceries from my kia sorento.the hatchback has a handle in order to pull down the hatchback.in this instance, i pulled it down a little bit and it felt like it had been jerked out of my hand and fell on my hand.i have some deep cuts and possibly a break in my hand.it felt as if the hatchonce i let go continued as if it was pulled down.

Inspection replace coils wires plugs timing crank and cam sensors clean tank and replace fuel pump $2,995 and car still had to be towed to the location it sits at now

The contact owns a 1996 kia sorento (n/a). While driving in reverse at approximately 5 mph the vehicle suddenly accelerated backwards on its own. The contact placed the vehicle in park and turned the vehicle off in order for it to stop moving. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

As i slowed from about 20mph to make a stop on approach at a crowded intersection,my car suddenly became possessed; while i was gently braking/decelerating, the engine suddenly revved to full power on its own and lurched forward toward the cars waiting at the red light!i mashed the brake pedal to the floor but the roaring engine was stronger and it was winning, keeping the car moving forward [the tires were actually screeching as i had the brakes locked, but the strength of the engine was still moving the car forward toward the cars at the intersection]. In a last-ditch effort to prevent collision with cars, i swerved right, aiming for a utility pole on the sidewalk at the intersection [figuring that would be strong enough to stop the forward motion of the car, and would also stop the car without me hitting any other cars]. The car mashed into the high curb, damaging the tire and the right front of the car. Then, as suddenly as the revving had started, the car released acceleration, settled down, and returned power to me.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 15 mph under normal road conditions, the brakes locked up.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the vehicle was towed to the service dealer, who replaced the brakes.the consumer has also had problems with the vehicle's cruise control

Headlights blowing all the time. Also the windshield wipers have lost there park position and when they are turned off they stop in front of the drivers line of sight and makes it very difficult to see what is going on around you while driving. I have talked to several people that have the same make and model and year as mine and they are having the same problems.

We noticed it started smelling hot but wouldn't turn off so my husband tried taking off the battery but couldn't because it was so hot it burned him and noticed smoke coming from the engine. We finally got it off so we tried to restart it but the battery was totally dead. The shop said the engine is gone.
