Airbag light is staying on. It has not been in an accident.
The contact owns a 2015 kia sedona. After purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that three of the tires were faulty and the air bags were disabled. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle vibrated and shook. The contact called the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased and was informed that the collision light burned out. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a kia dealer and they would repair it for free. The vehicle was taken to hudson kia (36 water st, jersey city, nj 07305, (201) 380-1220) where it was diagnosed that the air bags were disabled because of the sensor that needed to be replaced. The dealer further stated that the front driver side tire and both rear tires were faulty and the belt was separating from the tires. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The tire information was unknown. The failure mileage was 64,073.
The contact owns a 2015 kia sedona. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and the air bags were disabled from a sensor located under the front passenger seat. Kia of south austin (5306 s ih 35 frontage rd, austin, tx 78745, (512) 444-6635) quoted that the repair would cost over $1,000 and the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer agreed to split the repair cost. The manufacturer paid for the parts and the contact paid for the labor. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v109000 (electrical system) that offered reimbursement for previous repairs. The dealer stated that the part was fine and no repairs were needed. The contact submitted a request for reimbursement, but was denied six weeks later. The failure mileage was 71,718.
My air bag indicator light came on and does not reset.the passenger side air bag light in not showing the passenger air bag is off.according to the vehicles manuel this we may have a passenger air bag deploy when it should be off and the drivers side air bag will not deploy when it should.this is a very serious problem and during my research found at least 50+ kia owners with this problem.please check this out and have kia repair these vehicles under a recall notice.i believe my warranty is still valid but not sure kia will fix this without prodding.thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Air bag light is on and wont go off. It used to come on occasionally but it just started to be on constantly recently. Also the passenger air bag is stuck on. Its supposed to light up off when no one is seated. Now the seat belt light flashes as if someone is seated there. This is ridiculous. This is a huge safety risk.
The air bag light is on and stays on. It use to only come on every once and a while but now stays on all the time.also the passenger air bag indicator light is not working correctly. The passenger seat belt light flashes when there is no one in the seat.
Front passenger seat occupant light does not go out now with adult on seat.followed steps in owners manual, didnt reset so no front pass, airbag
Left turn signal intermittently activates the right side lights when pressed. Other times it does not activate the light at all. In either case, the signal arm must be giggled back and forth to get it to activate correctly.
Had turned on the air in the seat and smelled a plastic burning smell when i parked my car and went in my house to get my swimsuit and towel and returned outside smoke was rolling out of the car. The car was on fire at the drivers side seat.
Blinker malfunction.when blinker switch to left turn indicator, it will intermittently flash to the right while vehicle is in motion and stopped.this has numerously times caused people around me to move in wrong direction.it is commonly reported online.please force recall.
My 2015 kia sedona sx-l has developed a random issue when the left turn signal function is actuated (and not the right). Symptoms include the left signal not operating at all, or when the left signal is depressed but the right signal blinks rapidly three times instead before blinking the left signal once. The issue only surfacess maybe 10 to 20% of the time and is difficult to reproduce on demand. This defect poses as a serious safety issue. Others have commented experiencing variations of this problem: https://www.kia-forums.com/threads/turn-signal-issues.333572/
For about 6 wks now while driving specially at night my headlights will randomly flicker off and on, and there have been several times where the automatic headlightsjust turn off and stay off. It has happened while driving and while parked.
When i use my blinkers, quite often the head lights will go on and off while driving
Backup and seat belt chimes cannot be heard in this vehicle dealer has been informed of problem however states volume cannot be increased . This is a new car purchase i stated to the dealer that the kia sorento i traded could be heard why can't this one be made to hear also.backup warning is to detect objects not seen in mirrors but if it cannot be heard what good is it?
Power sliding doors do not close all the way makes a grinding noise when it is closing the door does not latch when the door is suppose to be closed which in return does not allow the doors to lock
The engine stopped after driving through a small bump at the park lot (low speed), accompanied by steering wheel locking by itself. Tried to restart the car and it didn't work. Jump start was also unsuccessful. The car was towed to the nearby dealership. After days of waiting, i was told problem can not be diagnosed but they offer to replace the computer. Now i am waiting for their new result.

Headlights go offfor .5 to 5 seconds when i turn on the blinkers on while driving at night causing total darkness. I do not know if the tail/brake lights are affected
Takata recall sliding doors do not properly close all the time and can pop open while driving. So i have to get out and close the door by hand. This has happend on different occasions since november of 2016. The kia dealership i went to said they fixed the problem but still had issues after that.
Front passenger seat occupant light does not go out now with adult on seat.followed steps in owners manual, didnt reset so no front pass, airbag
Both sliding doors make noises when closing and do not close all of the way. Noise is coming from back of car inside panel. Sounds like a motor vibration and rubbing noise. The door will stay open about a 1/4-1/2" when looking at it from the rear. Door light on dash is on, interior door light will remain on and air/noise comes in through the door. This started with 60k miles on my car. Dealer says it will cost me $2200.
Over the past couple of months our left turn signal began acting up.you would turn it on, and it would either show nothing, or show the right turn signal on.you would have to turn it off and on several times to get it to work correctly.we have taken it in for repairs and was told it needed a new switch.we have owned several vehicles over the past 35 years and none of them had this issue, and many were driven nearly 200,000 miles or more. This all occurred while normal operation/driving of the vehicle.
Check bgd warning light came on screen while travelling at 40-45 mph on a straight stretch of city road. Car immediately slowed down. Lost power brakes and power steering. Other dashboard lites came on - -check engine light, etc.i brought vehicle to stop and placed transmission into park,. Vehicle did not restart and the transmission was locked..dealer retained vehicle for 28-30 days and was not able to repair it. Dealer subsequently repurchased the vehicle from me.
The uvo system intermittently malfunctions.when it does, the phone ringer volume is extremely loud.as a result , an incoming phone call startles and temporarily distracts the driver.after repeated attempts to reset the volume to a very low level, it continues to happen.as it happens randomly, the dealer has not been able to reproduce it.as a result, they have refused to reprogram the system.however, there is a service action/tsb 222 which addresses this, but "if they can not reproduce the symptom, they will not reprogram the system."i have been told this same story at the dealership and from the corporate headquarters.it has happened multiple time since i have owned the vehicle.there are not any upgrades available for the consumer to upload, nor is it possible without specialized equipment.thank you
On multiple occasions my headlights will turn on or off when using turn signals or just hitting a bump. This is extremely dangerous as i live in a rural area with no street lights. This issue has been going on for several months now and is becoming more frequent. My 2015 sedona only has 90k miles and i would not expect to have an issue like this at this time.
As consistently as multiple times each day, when using the blinker function on my 2015 kia sedona. The headlights will turn off completely. I have to wiggle the device to restore headlight function. It appears to have loose connectivity or wire, but is a significant safety issue when driving at dark.
Battery dead for three different times in past five days. Worked after jump start (with a stanley 450/900 amp jump start system), but during last two occassions (on 07/27/16 and 07/28/16 it got hot too fast specially when car was stationary (engine running) for few minutes. It went hot to boiling (almost to the point of fire explotion), and evaporating acid from both sides's top (huge amount of white toxic smoke). Definitely the battery is damaged. Dealer is willing to replace; but i believe this is a safety critical issue that should be carefully investigated to find the root cause, which may not be the battery alone or itself, but a more serious and complex electro-mechanical design failure. Stats are backing-up my thoughts: the main topics of complaints for this car (so far) are electrical/battery related. I have a video of the smoke from the battery. I owned several other cars with dead battery issues, but never this kind of scenario where battery is about to explode. (note: my vin number may not appear in us database because i bought car in puerto rico, manufactured in korea).
About 2 years ago i took my vehicle to the service department to get the a/c heater control unit replaced under factory warning, this was at 70,000 miles, then at about 130,000 i had to get it replaced again, only this time it was not under a factory warranty the replacement part costs from $1200 to $1500.i ended up replacing it myself and as i began to replace the unit i noticed something disturbing.the a/c power button had melted and burnt, the connectors were never replaced the first time kia repaired the a/c control unit under warranty.i then knew what the plastic burning smell was when might a/c was turned on.i asked the kia service technician why does this keep happening he told me it was because i used the car for uber and the system was not designed to be ran as much as i drive the car, the pictures are attached.in april of this year at about 201,232 miles my front blower motor stopped workingas i went to get it replaced, i noticed the same issued with the connector.the plastic connector burnt out and shorted the blower motor, and just when i thought that was a coincident, i unplugged the blower motor resistor to check it and found that connector there too had been melting and burning.i am informing you, of this problem because it keeps happening it seems about every 70k to 80k miles on the a/c control unit because i am about to put a 4th a/c control in my vehicle, i am fearful of fire hazard/potential this may cause.this is getting expensive to continue to have to replace/repair parts because the can't withstand heat. The first four pictures are from the a/c control unit the last picture is from the blower motor.
The sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle appear faulty. They routinely do not function with the button and i am required to manually close them. They also do not automatically stop and have nearly closed on my arm before. They are very glitchy. The drivers sliding door does not properly close all of the way approximately 10-15% of the time.
Takata recall: our 2015 kia sedona's when in motion or stationary, the turn signal component does not signal the direction we have selected. When i choose left turn it signals right turn. I have to play with the turn signal lever about 10 times before it may or may not signal the proper direction. This is extremely dangerous as the cars around us think we are planning to go right instead of left each intersection. Please issue a recal on these turn signal components for 2015 kia sedona minivans.
Very often when i pull down on left turn signal the right side blinks instead. Signaled left last week started to turn left and a car almost hit me passing on my left. I try to be alert to the problem but sometimes i forget. I have seen many other kia sedona owners complaining about this problem and near miss accidents.
Passenger side sliding door grinds when attempting electronic closure. Sometimes it doesnt close completely. On this occasion, door was completely closed, no door light on, and while driving on the highway the door electronically opened while at speed. Our 2 year old child was in his car seat on that side providing a life-threatening situation with the open door. Took it to the dealership and they said the motor needed to be replaced, but even if the motor was faulty, under no conditions should the door open while at speed.the manual specifically states that the door will not open when operating over 5mph, and yet, it did.
18v338000 recall / manufacturer recall numbersc175nhtsa recall number19v109' door will not automatically open back up, has shut on my children. Front passenger airbag has electrical problem.
The contact owns a 2015 kia sedona. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, it failed to start. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be charged and informed the contact to drive the vehicle more often. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not provided. The failure mileage was 1,200.
I drove the van in the morning and all was well. Stopped at a grocery store and when i started it up in the afternoon the stability control sensor and the anti lock sensor stayed on all the time. Got home, turned the van off then on again and the sensor warning lights didn't reboot. Don't know what the problem is but will take to dealership for diagnosis.
The contact owns a 2015 kia sedona. The contact stated that the driver noticed an abnormal ticking noise coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to orlando kia west (3407 w colonial dr, orlando, fl 32808) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
My family and i were coming back from vacation and the engine threw a rod and shut off going 70mph down the road. I had the car towed to a kia dealer near my house. They indicated i need a new engine at a cost of $8,400. The van is worth approximately $11k. I called kia consumer support and opened a case to see if they would give goodwill since it is timed out of warranty. It is three months out of warranty but 10k under the mileage portion warranty. Since i am the second owner the 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty decreased to 5 year/60,000 miles. Kia asked for all my receipts which i provided indicating i have changed the oil, put new tires on, and replaced the brakes. This is all that has been required since we only have 50k miles. Kia stated that after reviewing my case they would not be able to offer any goodwill because my records aren't up do date. I told them i kept my own records, which i gave to them, but they weren't willing to listen to me. I was very surprised how rude they were to me during this whole process.
The check engine light and pressure oil light keep on and off while driving. This problem has been recalled on the kia sportage. (nhtsa recall number: 19v101).
Was driving at a low speed 25 mph up a slight hill and the car began to sputter and loose power then completely stalled, when i tried to restart it wouldn't turn over just crank had it towed to the kia dealer where they informed me the motor had seized up and would need replaced at a cost of 7,000$ they didn't know why the vehicle has 82,000 miles was completely full of oil with no abnormalities and a half tank of gas there were no warning lights in and no issues with the vehicle prior to this episode since i was the second owner, bought it used the power train warranty wasn't in effect they have no exlaination for why it happened
Diving down the highway and the engine stalled out of nowhere.
Check bgd warning light came on screen while travelling at 40-45 mph on a straight stretch of city road. Car immediately slowed down. Lost power brakes and power steering. The engine dies while driving. Bought the minivan with 97 miles. Drives back home and parked there for about 1 week. (new year holidays). Then started to drive the van. The first day (with almost full gas tank) the engine dies while driving 3 times, all on city streets with low speed. 2 out of 3 time there is little uphill, the other time it is in flat grocery parking lot. After that i scheduled service appointment and begin to use the van for commute as well to test more. For one week it is driving ok. But after i fillup the gas tank, the engine dies again, in one of the exact same places near my home it died one week ago.had the engine died when on highway, it would have more serious impact.the dealer service department said they cannot find anything unusual yet and need to keep the van for longer time for diagnosis.
Our 2015 kia second minivan overheated repeatedly in 2020 for unknown reasons resulting in a total engine failure and complete loss of value.after leaving a highway, the minivan overheated, resulting in a blinking engine light.it was quickly parked and later driven to a mechanic, who could not replicate the problem.after a period of operation at normal temperatures, it began to misfire.no warning lights appeared prior to or during these misfires. Nonetheless, we had the starter coils replaced based on a repair code.after another period of normal operation, it again began to misfire and overheated without triggering any warning lights.we drove it immediately to our mechanic, whodetermined that the head gasket was blown. A kia dealer to which we towed the car confirmed this assessment and reported it needed a $6k new engine that would cost $3k to install.(neither we nor our independent mechanic could locate a used engine for less than $4k.)in its current state, the dealer estimates that the 5 year old minivan's trade-in value is $500.kia regional isunable to confirm that a replacement engine is available and their representative reported that it is remanufacturing these engines and may need to wait for parts to be created and shipped from south korea.the 2015 sedona engine is of the same type (kia lambda ii 3.3l v6 gasoline direct injection)included in vehicles that were the subject of the recent engine fire lawsuit (andrea smolek v. Hyundai motors america and kia motors america).however, the sedona was not included in the settlement of that case or the related recall.
On 9/4/18, while driving on the parkway i noticed my carwas sluggish & making a noise upon acceleration. I thought it was my muffler because i didnt have any warning lights illuminated on my dashboard to indicate a major problem. As i exited the parkway, my car stalled & i coasted to the side of the road. I was able to start it a couple more times before it died for good. I had the car towed to the neptune nj kia where we authorized a $400 partial tear down of the engine which we thought was to diagnose the problem but it was only to take some pictures of the engine & oil filter for the warranty dept. We were then asked to provide maintenance records which we couldn't since my husband did the majority of work & we didn't think to keep receipts being that we'd never been in this situation with our other cars. We've been fighting this for a couple months now but our warranty has been denied for "lack of maintenance" as they stated we have sludge in our engine. However, this problem is bigger than my lack of receipts. Lack of receipts doesn't mean lack of maintenance! kia has a huge problem with their engines and they're using this technicality as a way to deny coverage even though their own 2015 warranty manual states "warranty coverage will not be denied solely because there is no record of maintenance. However, failures caused by lack of required maintenance are not covered by the warranty."where's the proof we did anything wrong? to this day they still "dont know" what went wrong with my car as there were no fault codes pulled from my ecu & a full engine tear down was not done. Also, the dealer said they are now out of $7k long blocks for my car wonder why? and told me i'd have to go with a short block at a cost of $17k (extra parts & labor required) or figure out how to get an engine on my own. This is happening to too many people & needs to be addressed!
We have had our 2015 kia sedona minivan for about almost 3 years now. We went in to our local kia dealer since the steering wheel wasn't centering correctly, so they gave us a wheel alignment. Shortly after we realized the alignment did not help and it was the tires with the main problem. The reason i mentioned all of that is because shortly after, our turn signal started acting strangely. Whenever we pushed it in either direction with the automatic headlight setting on, it automatically turned on the parking lights (even in the middle of the night). Sometimes it would not do it when youused the turn signal, but when you turned the steering wheel back around and turned off the turn signal and the parking lights symbol would pop up on the screen. Ever since we got the tires replaced and the wheel alignment, our turn signal seemed to have much less of a duration when taking turns. Right when you turned the steering wheel back to its normal position in the middle of making the turn it starts to shut off. We tried to be more gentle with the turn signal and steering wheel and it improved a little bit, but the parking lights were still popping on once in a while. A few months ago we finally decided to fully shut off the automatic headlights and just do it manually.we feel more secure driving the vehicle with the automatic headlights on for safety reasons but with the whole parking light glitch it doesn't make it any safer. Also today we recently tested the automatic headlights again. We parked it inside the garage and locked it up car. When we went out to throw out the trash, the parking lights were mysteriously on and the automatic switch was on and the van was completely locked and off.

My head lights blinked three times then went out on low setting, high beams work only. Bulbs have been replaced four times and after about a month they blink and then go out- this has happened each time while driving at night time on way home from work with my children in the car and this is unacceptable. Especially when seeing how many forums are online about this issue with kias.all times i have been on back country roads going home from work at 11 pm.
When in motion, at times, when the left turn signal is clicked into place to indicate a left turn or movement to the left lane, the right turn signal will blink instead.this causes very dangerous driving conditions
The rear housings for the turn signals are filling with rain water. The water leakage will render the signals inoperable. The driver may not even be aware of this hazard. Apparently, this is a common safety problem as the seals or plastic housing may be defective.

When using the indicator to signal left, the signal would occasionally not respond or signal right. After jiggling, it will signal correctly. This was not a one-time occurrence and getting uncomfortable
When pushing the turn signal down while the vehicle is in motion to go left, it either doesnā€™t blink or switches to the right blinker.this nearly caused an accident the other day when a car nearly hit the back of my van with my 6 kids in it, because the left blinker wouldnā€™t come on and then switched to blinking right.there are numerous other reports on here of similar incidents and unfortunately it looks like nothing will be done until it causes a fatality.my car is at the dealership now and i will forward the invoice if they fix it.you can go to the kia forum and find 34 different posts on the same issue.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sedona. While driving approximately 5-10 mph approaching a red light, the vehicle accelerated on its own when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they were unable to locate a failure. In addition, while driving approximately 20 to 25 mph, the contact was unable to stop the vehicle and crashed into the driver side of another vehicle and a tree. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene and repaired. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
The contact owns a 2015 kia sedona. While pulling into the garage and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brakes failed without warning. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the garage. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the diagnostic results were unknown. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,500. The vin was unavailable.

The side panel on the driver's side came open in the garage during the night and failed to close when discovered. Luckily we were not driving it.
Power sliding doors do not close all the way makes a grinding noise when it is closing the door does not latch when the door is suppose to be closed which in return does not allow the doors to lock
Driver side passenger door fails to close, loud noise when attempting to latch, and alarms sound upon entering or exiting vehicle in a parked position. Automatic door needs to be turned off, then manually close door. May happen all the time or fail randomly.
Rear sliding doors do not fully close and make loud grinding noise. The only way to shut them is to manually push it closed.
On 2015 model kia sedonas the sliding door motors may become faulty and cause the sliding doors to not close all the way. When you push the button to close the door it gets almost closed and then makes a loud grinding noise followed by a beep in the cabin and a notification on the instrument cluster letting you know that the door did not fully close. If you drive with the door in this state it is not fully latched and presents a safety issue as the door could open while driving or in the case of impact. The tsb is attached to this case.
Sometimes, the driver side sliding door will not shut all the way.it makes a grinding / clicking sound and then opens back up automatically.this happens when the vehicle is stationary in park.
I have been having issues with all my automated power doors to my 2015 kia sedona sxl. Both sliding doors have been staying unlatched and open on their own while in vehicle is in motion and kia extended my warranty to fix it but my problem is that at the same time this all started happening my tailgate door latch also went bad and it stays open and opens while the vehicle is in motion as well. I've tried to get answers and also tried to have kia help me fix this problem, but it's way to big of a coincidence that my tailgate malfunctioned at the exact same time as the passenger and driver side sliding doors. It's been ongoing since february 2021. I have read in the kia forums that i'm not the only kia sedona owner that is having the exact issues. This is not an isolated problem. It is very dangerous and i'm not happy at all.
Neither of the rear sliding doors will fully close when engaged or activated by using the automatic door closures. You have to physically press the rear of the doors in order for them to engage the locking mechanisms.
When my driver side sliding door closes the door makes a loud grinding sound and the sensor wont register that it is closed. The lights will stay on inside because the door is still "open" even though it looks closed. You have to physically push the back of the door until you hear a click, which i assume of a latch engaging. Or you can turn the power door off and close it manually. This has been going on consistently for about 6 months now.
The power sliding door fails to lock properly at the rear of the door. This means that the door is not secured effectively. There are no warning signs on the dashboard that the door is not secure. The only sign is that a grinding/rubbing noise is made during the closing process and that it can be seen that the door is visibly not closed when viewed from outside the vehicle
18v338000 recall / manufacturer recall numbersc175nhtsa recall number19v109' door will not automatically open back up, has shut on my children. Front passenger airbag has electrical problem.

We bought our 2015 kia sedona earlier this year (2021) and are having issues with the left blinker, the sliding doors and the backup camera. With the blinker, it doesn't always activate when you plus the lever down. Sometimes you have to push it real hard. Other times you push the lever down to turn left but the right blinker comes on instead. With the doors, the rear left door doesn't always click shut all the way. It makes a grinding sound and then the back of the door unhinges. Sometimes it closes all the way only to unhinge while i am driving, sometimes 55+mph in the middle of a highway. The rear right door will not always respond to any of the automatic button commands. Once in a while it will close or open with the buttons. Other times it will partially close before reopening again. And even other times it just beeps and will not move. We have checked numerous times to make sure there are no obstructions and there aren't. With the backup camera, it is just very blurry and you cannot really tell what you are looking at other than shadows. We have wiped it down and it has done nothing to fix the issue. Kia! please help with these issues!!!!!
Sliding door does not properly close all the time.i have to close the door by hand.i've brought this car to the dealership several times and they said it was fixed but it isn't.
Both sliding doors not closing properly...making a lit of grinding noise..
Rear window broke while i was taking the trailer hitch off the car my face was inchesfrom the glass.nothing caused this,it broke on its own.i believe kia is trying to cover up the problem
This is the third kumho crugen kl33 tire that has had radial run-out or tread separation in less then 6 months. First two where on the front axle and most recent one is on the pass rear.the recent event was on a return road trip covering about 230 miles in i 10 between san antonio and houston, there was no road debris or other issues that would have caused tire damage under a road hazard. Since then the tire has developed a wheel hop and vibration to the rear.
Vehicle has 12,000 miles on itrotate tires every 4-5000 miles. Noticed a loud noise coming from the wheel wells on the interstate, drove to the local mechanic, checked our wheels found square spots on the inner tire treads. Unsafe to drive he called in tires at the tire shop, tire shop let him know that they are using the same tire on the newer model but the word extra load is on the tire, replaced two of the tires because money is scares. Complained to kia consumer they stated it is the tire company's problem (hankook) and not kia. Called hankook tire hq in nj and they state it is kia and hyndia's problem. This is a very dangerous situation where this is a family type van and the belts are stretching and eventually they will brake possible injury and or death. Don't know where else to go no one is listening.need help with this situation
