Car was delivered to kia of south austin for repair as per sc165a (airbag recall) and for sc188 (fuel rail recall) on monday may 25th. Dealer confirmed that there is a fuel leak at the fuel rail location. Dealer was instructed by kia motors of america to disable the car until a remedy is available. It is now saturday may 30th and there is no remedy timeline for the fuel leak and the dealer refuses to conduct the airbag remedy.
I was hit when pulling out by another car at approximately 55 mph.other car airbags deployed. My kia did not deploy any air bags. It is supposedly equipped with front and side airbags. The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator had been permanently illuminated since march of2018. The vehicle was taken to grand staff kia (3608 bristol highway, johnson city, tn 37601) where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor caused the failure, which was not part of nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags). The contact received notification of the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
I was rear ended by an 18 wheeler, which caused me to hit the car in front of me. There was significant damage to the front of my car.my airbags did not deploy.photos can be provided.
The air bag indicator light is on, and i'm told by kia that the weight sensor for one seat is not functioning, which means air bags will not deploy.this is a substantial cost to fix of approximately $1,600.00, however, this light has been on for some time and i feel that it is likely a defect in the sensor, electrical components, or air bag that may be impacting other kia owners.
This vehicle has 65,000 miles on it and yesterday i did the third break job this van has had. No vehicle should go through breaks as fast as this one does.on top of that, my airbag light has been on since 20,000 miles and all kia dealers i have brought this van to refuses to look into it. Now that i am no longer under warranty with kia i plan on bringing it to another shop.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that the power sliding doors would not open or close and were extremely difficult to manually open or close. In addition, the rear cameras were not functioning. The dealer lubricated the cameras, but indicated that the part was on back order. The failure recurred and the doors failed to open and close properly both electronically and manually. While driving, the doors opened more than once. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
The door actuator went out. The door worked fine when we went to the store. On the drive home the sliding door flew open. The door latch is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock. I have my doors bungee corded together.
Whenshifting from reverse to forward, both side mirrors need to be readjusted.without being readjusted, they point at such an angle as to be unusable.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle both the driver side and passenger side door would erroneously opened. The cause of the failure was not yet determined.also, while driving smoke was present inside the cabin of the vehicle. After stopping the vehicle, the driver extinguished the flames coming from the blower motor wire harness located under the glove box. Also the front low beam head lights had failed on multiple occasion and had to be replaced and the backup camera was inoperable. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The local dealer a & b kia dealer (100 marshall st. N, benwood, wv 26031) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
I purchased my 2012 kia sedona on 8-11-2018 & found out that they sold me a vehicle on the recall list. I said there was a safety issue on a recall list & after battling cancer & an 8 month survivor, i don't want this vehicle that could cause my demise. When i attempted to return to the kia dealership here in daytona beach, fl, they said when i drove it off the lot i would lose thousand dollars towards another (safe) vehicle. I feel this was wrong not only to sell me an unsafe vehicle, but for me to lose $ on another vehicle is wrong. Please call me on my cell#[xxx]. [xxx]. Thank you for your help.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I bought this 2012 kia brand new in 2011 well, a few months ago, we took it in for and oil change and it was making a loud noises in the engine, they fix it.also a part feel of the vehicle which secures the side door they orders the part and we had to keep calling then to see if they got the part in finally they did i talk to them about the lights not turning off after we turn off the vehicle and has ran the battery down several times and i had to replace the battery they check it out and could not determine what the problem they had to call someone. They said they would get back to us four months ago no response so i took the vehicle in today to get and oil change [xxx]. Said he can?t help me the warranty is out and pretty much just get over it,call their crop office well [xxx].just grab a business card and gave it to me with a grin on his face like yea good luck with that one.person i spoke to ask me a few questions and then hung up i called back talk to someone who said give me a few days to research the problem [xxx] told me they will check out the lights in which they did i assume. Went to pay for the oil change no mention anything about the light problemso i asked the status of the light problem. [xxx].said it was an ?electrical problem? and they need someone to authorize him to fix it.i asked won?t kia authorize them to fix it he said no we had to so i asked him if we authorize it that means we had to pay for it right.?he stated yes.i be responsible for the bill right he stated i would have to pay them a minimum of $150.00 for the labor before they put it back together or give me my van back. We ask him is there a chance it could catch on fire or anything he stated no but it is an electoral problem that is a that was there before we bought it's not something we did or cause he agree.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Wiring harness connections are melted at the blower motor and resistor. Also did on my 06 sedona. Worried about a fire. The circuit is not sized right. There are a lot of complaints on line about this.
Key stuck in ignition.parked mini-van, cannot remove key from ignition. While turning counter clockwise, stopped at acc position. Can turn key clockwise, restart engine, turn off engine, key would not turn counter clockwise past acc position.took to dealer, dealer could not duplicate problem. Cost $170.2 days after pick up mini-van from dealer, wife drove to grocery store, could not remove key from ignition.checked internet, seems that there has been a problem going on since 2006 with numerous kia vehicles but no technical service bulletins. I was able to duplicate it once. I could not turn key counter clockwise past acc, when i took foot off brake pedal, vehicle rocked slightly, heard click and saw gear selector lever shudder. Now could turn key and remove from ignition.i think something wrong with shifter linkage not releasing microlock in ignition.
2012 kia sedona doors freeze shut and will not open in cold weather when doors finally open they do not close all the way and alarm sounds entire time doors are partially open. My children are at risk in this van and should be recalled to fix problem.many complaints on line with no permanent solution.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. While the vehicle was parked the contact removed the key from the ignition and noticed the ignition and the key were extremely hot. The failure occurred after driving approximately thirty miles or more. The contact measured the temperature of the key and stated it reached 101 degrees fahrenheit. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 425.
Last september 6th, 2018, sedona was almost caught fire while driver was with her children.onwer saw a huge smoke after she looked at dashboard tempature guage that reached overheat, quickly parked, turned it off, and opened the hood.she smelled strong burned.mechanic took a look at engine and found a lot of motor oil that was leaking through the head gasket and spilling over onto exhaust pipe under engine block.oil spilling onto exhaust pipe could cause fire.response of mechanic diagnosis, original alternator was at fault for stopping generate power supply to the radiator fan assembly.then radiator fan assembly stopped operating, resulting in engine overheat to break the head gasket, leaking a lot of motor oil.following overheat issue, transmission was also affected.mechanic noticed that alarm was not built in for coolant fluid level low after half low in radiator found.why was not a coolant fluid level low alarm built in before first time vehicle was sold?without a coolant fluid level low alarm could lead vehicle into fire.
Car randomly locks its unlocked doors.that has been going on for 2 years.in january, the sliding door on the passenger side stopped completely closing without manual assistance pushing it closed the last few fractions of an inch to get the door open warning light to shut off.
Driving on rt 19 pittsburgh pa the passenger power sliding door openedmy grandchildren were in car seats. Thisshould have been included in this year as it was known in newer models recall i mention to dealer and he stated well no one got hurt?
Reported as far back as and paid for repair of both sliding doors staring in 2015-2021doors at first would not open on button press no matter which button used key fob or inside vehicle had to force pull the handles to open and eventually to close.just a week ago april 2021 while taking my elderly mother to store while parked after leaving the store, the passenger side sliding door stuck in the open position and no amount of force nor button push would close it. In march of 2021 i received notification from kia of limited warranty extension (wty018)which specifically lists power sliding door lactching for 2011 to 2014 sedona's. I reported the door not closing at all which happened on a saturday when parts was likely closing for the day andwhen i finally got through to them on monday dropped the car off to my same kia dealership that has done all of the repairs and place of purchase they looked at the vehicle and informed me they were not sure the roller was covered under the warranty and i would be charged $750 and only the the latch and motor of the door was covered (all parts of the same mechanism) i declined the repair being they wanted me to pay rented my own out of pocket rental for a week because i am an essential worker while i contacted kia corporate directly by phone with my issues and how rude they were trying to explain how parts of the door would not be covered the car is undrivable being the door remains open going into week two out of my own pocket i finally got someone from corp to acknowledge something is wrong and was told they would fix it in "good will" four days ago i am still without a car while they wait for part they needed and called back today to corp who called the dealer and somehow part came in "last night" but they can't pick up till monday to fix again i am without my car and work for the county tax admin office.
My son was driving the car with my grandson in the front passenger seat.smoke came out of the air conditioningvents and a fire started in the wiring below the dash on the passengers side.my grandson put out the fire with his shoe and after turning off the ac the smoke stopped.dealership said blower motor was drawing too much current.subsequently they found a 40 amp fuse had blown and a bad motor resistor.this problem never should have happened and if the fire had spread, at best the car would be totaled and worst case a serious accident with possible loss of life.next issue is a bad ignition switch.it was very difficult to turn the key in the switch.replacing key did not help.ending up replacing ignition switch. In an emergency not being able to use your car could be life threatening.
Rear passenger-side doors do not operate properly. Will not open with "key fob", but sometimes will manually. If open, may or may not close with fob, and extremely difficult to close manually. Also, will open themselves even when the vehicle is locked. In this particular experience, vehicle was parked at home. Doors had been locked and checked by visual inspection due to having this happen previously many times. Concern is that doors could open while driving, exposing passengers to possible danger.
Rear driver side sliding door will not always close completely and sometimes opens while driving. My three year old granddaughter sits in that seat and i'm worried that the door is actually going to come open while we're driving the car. I've read of previous years for this same vehicle having this problem. I've paid to have it repaired once, but i feel that kia should take care of this known issue. Also, there is an issue with the front end of the vehicle. It sometimes makes a grinding sound when i'm slowing down - not necessarily with my foot on the brake. Sometimes it's difficult to stop the vehicle and i'm afraid i'm going to get into an accident.
Side door flies open while driving, electronic door latch no longer works properly allowing the door to open completely while driving exposing second row passenger.
While driving with my 4 year old twins in my 2012 kia sedona the passenger power sliding door repeatedly opened while the vehicle was in motion.the first time i was actually entering the expressway on the on-ramp - not certain of my exact speed but i was accelerating to allow me to yield into traffic. I obviously pulled the van over immediately - my daughters and i both frantic.this was the second issue with the power doors that particular evening.the first issue occurred approx. 10 minutes earlier when i was unable to get either door to open at all.i tried to open them with the remote; the overhead console open/close; the interior open/close on both doors; i turned off the power to the doors and tried to open them manually - the doors would not open.they continued to set off the interior lights/alarm as if they were trying to open but were not.thinking it may be related to outside temperature (which is what kia had suggested to me previously when i had complained about issues with the doors sticking) i proceeded towards my home. The passenger side sliding door opened twice more. I never imagined anything like this could happen - when you purchase a vehicle shouldn't it be safe to assume that doors (such as power sliding doors) will remain closed when they are supposed to.there is most definitely some kind of mechanical failure that is allowing this to happen.kia suggesting that they cannot do anything about this is not acceptable.i understand the desire to duplicate the issues as i have described to them but unfortunately i cannot make that happen any more than they can.the solution to this problem is not cross your fingers and hope for the best.the vehicle doors are randomly latching and unlatching.there is significant risk to my children that are passengers in the vehicle when the doors open during operation.
This is unrelated to the safety recall for the fuel railthe electronic door locks fail, (mine are not fully automatic, but when you turn on the key you can hear the safety locks trying to engage before permitting the vehicle to move - they do not work.worse even with the key, the doors will not consistently lock or unlock.doors can become locked to the point that you can not manually open them, creating a fire hazard for occupants.additionally, there is no safety or emergency release on the back hatch.if you are inside when this locking aberration occurs, you must exit via a side (if it happens to be working) or front door (again, if it happens to be working.i fail to understand why this is not a major safety issue and why no recall has been issued.there are literally 1000s of such reports on various car forums.with at least one registered here:cs1603a (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/mc-10090051-5448.pdfconfirmed via independent service center.records available upon request.no insurance inspection and no warning alerts occur.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. When the key was inserted into the ignition and turned to start, the vehicle failed to respond without warning. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.
2012 kia sedona heater wire harness on drive side failed and melted all the wires under the dash. Mechanic stated it could have caught on fire. The heater control for the front stopped working which sent us to the dealership for repair. The vehicle was in motion when the heater control failed. It was very good this happened during the winter otherwise the vehicle may have caught fire while driving because we would not need heat.
2014 kia sorento limited safety issue:the electroluminescent speedometer isn't readable during daylight operation.this causes a very real safety situation when the driver has to take his eyes off the road for 3 or 4 seconds to figure out how fast he is going.the display is entirely programmable by kia.they have chosen to show the speed by a small dark red marker against a black background.during daylight driving you have to hunt for the marker.put on sun glasses and it can take 5 or 6 seconds to find the marker. All that time you are not looking at the road.simple program changes and software updates could easily solve this problem. - make the marker longer and/or bigger, make the marker lighter red, make the marker white, or show the speed numerically in the center of the speedometer.all these could be driver selectable from the existing "settings" menu.kia has been made aware of this problem since at least june 10, 2013 (case # [xxx] ? customer service representatives [xxx]).they are liable for accidents caused by this faulty product.the local kia service people recognize the problem but only corporate kia can fix it.other than this safety issue my $39,050 2014 sorento limited is perfectly assembled and excellently designed.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When driving down the road the right side sliding door comes open at times. I have reset the main fuse that it listed in the book, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Driving to montana from colorado over the summer, ac went out.got it back to dealership, was told blower motor went bad - actually melted the plug and we had smoke in the van! replaced the blower motor and plug (out of pocket) from dealership since they said out of warranty due to mileage. Then, 3 weeks later, same problem. They replaced the wiring harness connector. 2 weeks later, same problem, replaced blower motor again and wiring pigtail connector to blower motor.a/c is one thing, but when entering into colorado winter driving, need heat for the windshield!repeated problem dozens of times over the last 2 months! vehicle isn't safe to drive now!went to another dealership, now that it's winter in colorado, need heat for windshield. Was told needed to replace full vehicle wiring harness at ~$1,800 parts + ~$1,100 labor and to "see if that would fix it." nope!vehicle is not safe due to visibility due to defective heating for defrost!i'm finding this is a common problem for 2012 kia vehicles with climate control issues, blowers, etc! not sure if it's drawing too much power or what?have had two blower motors installed and wiring pigtails in 3 months, and not right. Vehicle not safe for my wife to drive with cold climate!this is incredibly dangerous! vehicles need to be recalled and immediately fixed!
Took vehicle to dealership for recall, wiring harness. When done, the horn, left rear door lock switch and the radiator fans stopped working. All these worked prior to the recall work. And these items do work when bypassing with a battery, hooking them directly to power.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that the alternator failed and the vehicle was towed and to jim marsh kia (8555 w centennial pkwy, las vegas, nv 89149) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the alternator was replaced a month prior to the failure however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the battery was replaced and the vehicle was repaired previously under nhtsa campaign number: 20v101000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.
Had purchased a 2012 kia sedona. Work out fine for the first few yrs of ownership. Started noticing white smoke at engine start. Didntknow why it was doing it cause we had routine oil changes done to this car regularly. .took car to dealer to have it checked out and was told there was a recall on an emissions part and that would take care off the issue. Same issue continued, finally van came to a dead stop without any warning. No check engine light, oil light or any light to give us a warning that something was going on. Was lucky that my wife wasnt in a serious accident when this happened.she was driving hm and on the freeway when the engine decided to quit working. Had it towed to dealer and after 2 months at the dealer and that was only after i called to check why it was taking so long to give me an answer,....was told i would have to replace the engine at a cost off $7500 to $9500 for a new engine. No luck having dealer cover the cost cuase they said it was owner neglect on my part. Now im stuck with a car that is not drivable and useless. Oh, and worst part is that i was still making a monthly payments on the car.
Twice, the vehicle has stalled and come to a complete, unexpected stop with no warning: in october 2019 and january 2020.in both cases, the vehicle was traveling at a speed of approx. 30-40 mph.the check engine light did not illuminate, nor did any other light.we pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle.very dangerous, but fortunately we were able to pull over safely,
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. While driving 45 mph the engine ceased with several warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to deland kia 2322 s woodland blvd, deland, fl 32720-2322 (386) 734-7800, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was not offered further assistance. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Large plumes of white smoke from excessive engine sludge buildup in motor, towed it to the dealership they claim improper maintenance is the issue. Talked to kia corporate and despite other known sludge issues on other vehicles the say this vehicle does not have the issue. They've now had my van for 6 months while fighting to get them to cover under warranty. Bought it with 29k miles it now only has 56k miles on the engine, i've owned it for a little more than a year and a half. I'm still making payments on a vehicle that's worthless and unsafe to drive right now. Had regular oil changes done and bought the extended warranty because we planned on having it for a long time. I was told it needs a new engine replacement costing $8200 for a vehicle i paid $13000 for. This s not executable and don't believe their story. I would have bought a new vehicle if i had known i'd be on the hook for another 8 grand in a little over a year of ownership. So angry!!!
The contact owned a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, he noticed black smoke coming from under the hood. The contact pulled off the road to a parking lot, where flames were seen coming from under the hood.the contact exited, stood a distance away from the vehicle and called the fire department. The entire engine compartment area was burnt and destroyed by the fire. The insurance company did not even look at the vehicle since they said they did not cover fires. There were no injuries sustained and a fire report was filed. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 170,000.
Oil pressure warning light came on while traveling on the highway, took it to my dealer. They are saying the oil pressure sensor is bad at only 74,000 miles. Was quoted a price of $800 not covered under the power train warranty
Upon service station oil change engine warning codes p0024,p0014 showed immediatley next morning. Wix filter, mgd mgl 10082, bought by my mechanic from oriellys auto parts had no resemblance to original filter even though advertized as oem replacement. This had perforated metal shell and solid rubber top and bottom when kia version is fan folded paper all over it damaged engine vvti, camexhaust manifold warning since this is a oil timed engine . I did not drive it until fixed, oil switch, and pressure sending unit. 100% percent of oil had been forced out top of engine and pooled in the v6. Several technical sites say these filters design have failed including redesign. Now oriellys and wix are dragging thier feet imn fixing this and reimbursing me for exspense.not even thier product. I was driving vehicle less than 20 miles
While turning onto another street the van stalled.i put on my flashers and stopped, put the van in park and started it again.it started right up and the check engine light was on.it didn't have any power when i hit the gas, so i turned it off and started it again and it ran normal, except for the check engine light being on. On the way home it almost stalled again.this happened on a saturday. We called the dealer right away and they said to bring it in on monday. A week or so before the van did this i noticed the rpm's going up an down when i would be at a stop just idling.the dealer checked the codes for the throttle body and found an update so they reprogrammed it according to their paperwork.on friday i was driving down the street going about 25 mph and when i got to the traffic light i lost power.i thought it had stalled again, but it didn't.when i pressed the gas it did not accelerate , and would not go over 10 mph.i got it off the street and shut it off and then restarted it.it would not respond when i stepped on the gas.i turned it off again and let it sit for a couple minutes and then when i re-started it, it responded when i accelerated. Once again the check engine light was on.i immediately contacted the dealer and drove it right to them. According to their paperwork they checked and found an internal fault with the throttle body actuator.they replaced the throttle body assembly and kept it a few days to see if it would lose power again.according to them it did not and i picked it up.this is the first day i have had it back and so far it has run fine.i am driving children around in this van all the time and now i need to be concerned that it is going to stall or go into "limp mode" as the dealer called it when i pull out onto the busy roads where i live.i hope they fixed it.
Engine oil sensor leaking oil and engine oil light goes off and on. Any time engine is running.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. While the vehicle was parked, engine oil leaked underneath the front end of the vehicle and the engine oil warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil pressure switch and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
The timing chain tensioners bleed down pressure after the vehicle has set for a few hours causing chain slap at start up which over time will damage internal engine components up to and including timing issues that could cause engine failure. While there is a tsb from kia on this known issue kia claims it is normal to hear the chain slap against the engine walls until the tensioners build pressure over several seconds.
My vehicle has approximately 68k miles on it, and began leaking oil within the past month (and displaying the low pressure error light).the leaks themselves varied between small drips to significant amounts left in parking lots. It got to the point where i was unable to even run the heater for extended periods of time due to the fumes entering the cabin from the burning oil.with 3 kids until 12yrs, it was very unsafe.upon bringing it in for service, i was advised that not only the oil pan gasket needed to be replaced, but the rear main seal as well.this is alarming since the rear main typically does not need to be addressed until the vehicle is over/near 100k miles.thankfully, my warranty is covering the repairs, as this could have cost me over $1k to replace (due to the transmission needing to be removed to get to the seal).
While i drive a car. It was very humidity condition. So i turn on ac to windows. Few minutes later then suddenly ac stop. The windshield are clouded up with steam. So i can't see any through the windshield. So i stop and need to wait till its gone. So i visit my mechanic after day. He said ac pipe located behind steering hose is abraded by steering hose.so ac gas leaked at once. It shouldn't happen. It is very dangerous situation..

We discovered a fuel leakage after getting gas, but did not discover this leak until after driving home from the gas station. There was a strong smell of gasoline and we noticed that the fuel gauge went down rather quickly. After getting home from the gas station, we noticed the smell of gas was still very strong and that was when we noticed the leak, on our driveway. In the time that we were driving, we had been leaking gasoline the whole time, and could have lost our lives on our way home. We took our kia to be inspected and repaired and they discovered that the fuel rail was damaged: it had a crack along one side.
[xxx]. On 4/25 we noticed a smell of gasoline when driving the vehicle.we had the issue corrceted on 4/27/2020 at a out of pocket cost of $10902nd time submitting claim.have not received any info on original claim from may 2020
Car was delivered to kia of south austin for repair as per sc165a (airbag recall) and for sc188 (fuel rail recall) on monday may 25th.
Gas smell in car 11/2017 while in motion. Experiencing a sort of 'hesitation', like wanting to stall. Brought to dealer. Dealer identified issue- crack in fuel rail, leaking on engine. Item was not covered under warranty and quoted at just under $1k to repair. The dealership wanted me to sign a waiver saying i knew my car was a fire hazard since i couldn't afford to pay their rates for the repair. Told me i would end up in the news if i didn't get it fixed there. I refused, and took my car to my local repair shop where i paid for the repair.

2012 kia sedona. Consumer writes in regards to door lock malfunction. *ldthe consumer stated once the keys were inserted into the ignition the locks would randomly lock and unlock themselves. The dashboard would alert that the rear driver's sliding door was ajar, but it was not. The sliding door would open while the vehicle would was being driven. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the rear driver side power sliding door opened without warning. The contact pulled over to close the door; however, it would not completely close. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the latch needed to be replaced. The failure recurred on one other occasion with the rear passengers side sliding door. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona.the contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph the vehicle lost acceleration independently and the speed would not increase to 30 mph when the pedal was engaged.the failure occurred twice over a period of a year.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the sensor for the throttle needed to be replaced.the vehicle wasrepaired. The contact also stated that the odometer reading was incorrect.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
About 18mo after owning the van we started to have issues with shifting from park to other gears. It keeps getting worse as time goes on. Now i have had to remove the shift nob and depress the linkage to get it out of and into gear.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that the gear lever failed to shift from the park position to any desired selection until after numerous attempts. The failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,491.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. While the vehicle was engaged in park and the brake pedal was no longer depressed, it went into reverse on its own. The contact stated that the gear had to be forcefully pushed into the park position and a loud noise was detected from the gear lever. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 78,000.
Drove home from church and tried to go somewhere and the van is stuck in park. Will not shift into any gear when you push in on the button. Made sure my foot was on the brake pedal. Been running great just crazy how this happened.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph and making a right turn, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond causing the vehicle to accelerate independently. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.

Brake pedal soft, brakes fade in panic stop , at vehicle stop brake pedal fades to floor
It is almost impossible while driving on a daily basis to not step on the brakes while also depressing the accelerator simultaneously. I believe this is a design flaw, since i've been driving for 42 years and have driven dozens upondozens of makes and models and never once encountered an issue where the brake & accelerator are positioned in such a way that, unless you pick up your foot completely off the accelerator and deliberately replace it to the far left of the brake pedal, then you find yourself pressing both at once causing the car to lurch forward while you are trying to stop. This is not an occasional problem. It occurs on a near daily basis, despite the fact that i'm aware of the problem and do everything to avoid it. It's an extremely dangerous design flaw and needs to be addressed as quickly as possible. Thank you.
Kia sedona recall on hood latch and front lower control arms related to vibration/steering. I expect the dealer to pick up, fix and return the vehicle. Dealer indicated they would not. My having to deliver and pick up the vehicle would be an expense to me through no fault of mine. Recalls should cover all expenses including pick up and delivery. My dealer is 2 hours away!

The contact owned a 2012 kia sedona. While driving 30 mph in rainy weather conditions, the vehicle veered to the right, crashed into a curb, and rolled over. The air bags failed to deploy. The rear passenger sustained a chin injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona.while driving 50 mph, the sliding doors and the rear hatch door opened haphazardly.the dealer made two attempts to duplicate the failure. The passenger side sliding door was repaired but the failure persisted.the manufacturer did not offer any assistance and the vehicle was not further repaired.the current mileage was 2,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the driver's side sliding door opened independently. The failure recurred frequently along with the rear passenger sliding door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the actuator on the rear passenger door and the modules in both rear doors. The failure was not corrected and recurred. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 5,000. The current mileage was 20,000.
Issue 1. Vehicle appears to have a broken lock mechanism or bad sensor on the automated rear drivers door. When shut and in drive, driving down the road at 55 mph, door has flown open twice. I have 2 children that sit in these seats and i will not place them in the vehicle again until this safety issue is resolved. Issue 2 - front windshield rear view mirror has intermittently went in and out of night mode during daytime driving. This is a safety issue and cars are barely visible with the green tinted nighttime mode on. Additionally, rain makes this condition worse.
Sliding passenger side door of the van will not latch shut.we have tried this with the power door option, and also manually.the door opens unexpectedly while driving, because of the faulty latch.the latch fails, and the door opens, while stationary and while in motion, with varying speeds, and while turning.
There is an issue with the rear door not opening. It will opens intermittenly. Locked or unlocked it doesn't matter, same with the right rear sliding door, you cannot open it from the inside or out locked or unlocked, child safety locks have been checked and rechecked. This causes a safety hazard.
The sliding door on the passenger side would not latch via power control. It would close manually to the point where it was difficult to re-open again (required excessive force to pull the door open), however overhead lights remained on and the car was beeping. While driving the car door slid open 2x, both while making a left turn, slowly, on a side road. After the second time the door opened i engaged the child lock function which seemed to help. I was not comfortable driving on the highway and was able to get the vehicle home driving slowly on side streets. I called roadside assistance and arranged a tow to the dealer for this weekend. I called kia consumer affairs and was notified my car had previously been fixed for a hood latch recall but that there were no recalls for a passenger door latch.
The door actuator went out. The door worked fine when we went to the store. On the drive home the sliding door flew open. The door latch is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock. I have my doors bungee corded together.
Passenger side sliding door will not latch with power motor. I switched the door to manual mode and the door appeared to latch. The door then popped open when vehicle was moving.
When driving down the road the right side sliding door comes open at times. I have reset the main fuse that it listed in the book, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Rear hatch won't open when sitting out in the sun for 4-5 hours. After it cools down, it will open. When sitting for longer than 3 hours, it will not open.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. The contact stated that while leaning into the rear section of the vehicle, the tailgate failed to remain in the open position. The contact was struck on the back by the tailgate. The contact stated that it was difficult to manually raise the tailgate. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.

My air-conditioning does not work. The fan and the heating is working as of now
Last september 6th, 2018, sedona was almost caught fire while driver was with her children.onwer saw a huge smoke after she looked at dashboard tempature guage that reached overheat, quickly parked, turned it off, and opened the hood.she smelled strong burned.mechanic took a look at engine and found a lot of motor oil that was leaking through the head gasket and spilling over onto exhaust pipe under engine block.oil spilling onto exhaust pipe could cause fire.response of mechanic diagnosis, original alternator was at fault for stopping generate power supply to the radiator fan assembly.then radiator fan assembly stopped operating, resulting in engine overheat to break the head gasket, leaking a lot of motor oil.following overheat issue, transmission was also affected.mechanic noticed that alarm was not built in for coolant fluid level low after half low in radiator found.why was not a coolant fluid level low alarm built in before first time vehicle was sold?without a coolant fluid level low alarm could lead vehicle into fire.
Side doors will not open unless you use the front control button sometimes the remotes work but not all the time sometimes shows on dashboard side doors are open and they are closed this was happening when previous owner had it and i'm new owner still happens

Electronic locks (not power door controls) lock and will not unlock via manual key or key fob - this is a crash and or fire hazard & could result in death to passengers if trapped.the rear and side doors are effected.

One three separate occasions within a one week period, the kia sedona stalled randomly while the vehicle was in motion.this occurred once on a gravel road, once in town, and once on while merging onto a highway.the vehicle was brought to the dealer where we were told the check engine light was on, but they could not duplicate the problem.when we expressed this safety concern to kia customer service, we have be completely stonewalled and cannot even receive a returned phone call from the case manager.i wish i could supply more information but the dealership and kia seem unwilling or unable to discuss this matter with us.

First the check engine light would come on and the van would jerk then i had no control over the gas6/19/2014 i had to pull over turn the van off wait about five mins then turn it back on a go till it happened again took it to the dealership got it fixed then two days later 6/21/2014 same problem occurred and this time the gas would go down on its own so i took it back on thursday 6/26/2014 they looked at it came out told me it was a throttle issue and he wasn't going to let me drive it they put me in a rental and i got my van back on 7/02/2014 and about three to four hours or so after getting it back the throttle started doing it again so now i have to call them back again and let them know the throttle is doing it again. I have four daughter's that drive around in the van with me when im not at work i can't take the chance of something happening while there in the van with me and i cant keep taking the time to drive the van from lehigh to cape coral to get it fixed. When i took it the first time i hadto pull over about 12 times before i got there.
Let me begin by prefacing that this is our 2nd sedona, and we purchased both brand new. We have had this vehicle for 4 months, and it only has appx. 6000 miles on the odometer. I was driving down a residential side street i approached the a stop sign, i began depressing the brakes to slow down, and there was a car at the stop sign in front of me, waiting to turn left. As i continued to slow down with my foot still on the brake, the van's engine, out of nowhere, began to rev continuously at full throttle. My foot was still on the brake, and despite that the van began to move forward despite. I pushed my foot down as hard as i possibly could onto the brake, but the brake pedal was resisting, due to the continuous high rev of the engine. Out of desperation because i was just about to rear-end the car in front of me, i reached for the gear shift to throw the van into park, when the rev suddenly stopped, and the van lurched to a complete stop. I then threw it into park and sat in the road, shaking uncontrollably with my heart pounding. I just barely missed the car in front of me. Once i was composed, i very slowly drove home (~ 2 blocks). I verified that there was nothing on the floor which could have rolled under the accelerator pedal. The floor mat was in place, and was not turned up near the pedals. My seat was in its regular position. I was not using the cruise control (i.e. The cruise control system was 'off' at the time).my foot did not hit the gas pedal at all, it was firmly planted on the brake.my pants or shoes were also not caught on the pedal. This has never happened before. I have never experienced anything like it in my 21 years of driving & cannot imagine what would cause an event like this to happen in a brand new vehicle but we are terrified to drive it- especially with our children in it! i immediately called the dealership, and we dropped it off tonite.
I have reported to the kia dealership and filed a complaint with kia motors customer service about the accelerator pedal being unusually sensitive to foot pressure.this is a constant issue that causes me to accelerate more than i wish to.i have never experienced an issue with an accelerator pedal in my decades of driving experience. From a stop, i have to concentrate on pressing down extremely gently or else i can spin my wheels and lurch forward unintentionally.while driving i cannot help but speed up more than i want to do.it is dangerous and wastes fuel to be continually backing off foot pressure after the overly sensitive (loose feeling) gas pedal speeds up the engine.i asked to take the dealership service director with me.he had me drive another kia sedona, which is when i discovered the accelerator pedal felt and acted similarly to mine.therefore, this is a general safety problem that so far kia motors has confronted.my dealership did check out my gas pedal and thought there was nothing extraordinary about how it performed.there was no fix for my problem.the kia sedona has a pedal that acts differently than other kia vehicles.i have a friend who owns a 2012 kia suv that i have no problem with, at all.
While accelerating, the gas pedal would not return to the up position causing the vehicle to continue to accelerate. I was able to control the vehicle through a combination of braking and shifting to neutral until the pedal came back up on it's own. Time encompassed was approximately 60 seconds. Traffic on the road was light which made the situation much more manageable.
Upon coming out of ramp curve to merge onto interstate, vehicle felt as if coasting because with gentle acceleration to merge the vehicle did not respond. Then suddenly it quickly speed up! i steered right and brushed hedges hanging over guard rail to avoid oncoming traffic due to uncontrollable speed.this same occurrence happened intermittently at traffic lights. At a complete stop and began to accelerate with no vehicle response, then sudden acceleration to extent vehicle wheels spinned. Go for several blocks and safety hazard would not repeat, then at next stop sign uncontrollable speed again.this is a rental vehicle and i called in concern and turned vehicle in the next morning for a replacement due to unsafe malfunctioning. Enterprise switched vehicles and put in a claim against me for branch scratches on right side of vehicle. The incident was in philadelphia pa and i was transporting 4 senior citizens and my sister.
The contact owns a 2012 kia sedona. While stopped at a traffic stop, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact continued to abruptly apply pressure to the accelerator pedal until the vehicle engaged and rapidly accelerated.the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics but was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 15 . Updated 05/09/12 intermittently, when the consumer tried to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle would not come out of idle. When it finally did, it would accelerate violently.updated 06/01/12
Side view mirrors will go down in backup position while driving resulting in a loss of vision on cars beside and behind you.tried replacing with aftermarket mirrors and the same happens.this is third time this vehicle has had the same problem.issue occurs anytime vehicle is started. You can set the mirrors, turn off the settings adjuster and at a random time they will go all the way down.
Right rear tire blew out on the thruway, causing loss of control and braking.
