An older chevy s10 decided to do a u-turn as i was entering an intersection. I slammed on the brakes and prior to impact the front airbags deployed resulting in my 84 year old passenger hitting the windshield when the actual impact took place and as the truck spun from the broadside hit in the front of my van, it hit us in the front right corner and along the passenger side of my vehicle. My face was badly chaffed and my left arm and hand were badly bruised and cut. But the bouncing around after the airbag rapidly shredded caused me to end up with severe cervical damage.
Air bag warning light intermittently comes on and goes offbought new kia sedona less than 10 years ago
I was traveling in the mountains and i was run off the road. I ran head-on into a tree and hit my head on the steering wheel because the air bag did not deploy.

The lights have to be shut off manually every time we use the lights and if we forget, the lights come back on a few hours later by themselves and someone will call to inform us the lights are on.we went on awet gravel road and gravel stuck in the brake drum and making a grinding noise. I backed up fast, hit the brakes hard a couple of times to clear the gravel from the brake drums.another problem is the key will not turn and the steering wheel is locked and have to play with the steering wheel and try to wiggle it until the key can be turned to start the van.
This is the second time the alternator is being replaced since 09/19/17.engine oil leaks from the front cylinder bank's valve cover gasket.oil drips onto the alternator, the alternator is then oil soaked & damaged resulting in the charging system becoming inoperative. The charging system warning lamp in the cluster will then illuminate.the vehicle will run on battery power until the battery voltage drops below the engine control module's minimum operational voltage.the engine shutsoff and not restart, increasing the risk of a crash.this engine is manufactured by hyundai & is the same engine design as the 2007-2012 hyundai veracruz, which has a recall campaign #121 for this exact issue.kia needs to implement a recall for this!
The contact owns a 2009 kia sedona. The contact stated that the headlights and tail lights failed to illuminate. The dealer stated that the relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. In addition, while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not accelerate. The contact also stated that the brakes failed to respond and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. On another occasion, smoke appeared under the hood when the vehicle was started. The dealer stated that the electrical harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 95,000.
Recently the driver side master switch that opens/locks all the van doors or move all the windows up and down stopped working. The van also cannot be locked from outside with the remote.the car has to be locked and opened manually by the key.this issue with the driver side master switch is a major safety issue.today when we went to fill gas, we found that the gas tank release button is also not working.fortunately the mechanic at the pump showed us a way of manually releasing the cap from the trunk of the van which enabled us to fill gas today.this is a serious safety issue: not being able to open the gas tank cover the regular way.neither the mechanic today nor another mechanic who i have used for the past 25 years could figure out what is wrong electrically.they checked the fuses and ran diagnostics but nothing stood out.
When going through a puddle of some depth maybe 6 inches(not sure exactly), the power steering will stop and a couple of lights come on, on the dashboard. Then about 15 seconds later all goes back to normal. Always seems to happen when turning left or right.
My vehicle suddenly stopped to react to the gas pedal, motor rpm fell down to ~1000 rpm - usually its idle value. The problem happened as i was trying to speed up while entering the traffic on a highway, and it created a dangerous situation.it looks like a common problem with kia sedona vehicles, i was able to find quite a few references on the internet, for example see this:http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-carnival-sedona-2006/61112-sudden-loss-accelerator-response.html.
Vehicle was repaired in 2013 but by 2014 was acting up again. Same problem as initial repair. A recall repair that goes bad in within 20,000 miles is not a good repair. When asked to repair it again kia put in the wrong part i had to take it back a 3rd time to get it fixed. The total cost to my repair was $679.45. The problem was that the car would not shift from park into drive and the esc light would go on,it took multiple tries to get the car out of park in order to drive it.
Get into it to go it will not crank has 105,000 miles left me stranded twice my son thinks it could be starter solenoid or the main circuit board under dash it makes a clicking noise under hood very faint when running the starter works good not running now pulled into yard next morning nothing good battery no corrosion will not crank.
Electronic stability control:the vehicle suddenly stopped to react to the gas pedal, like motor rpm fail, usually its idle valve or speed control.the problem with this vehicle sedona 2009 happened as i was trying to speed up while entering the traffic on a highway, and it created a dangerous situation, it look like a common problem with kia sedona vehicles, there a few reference on the internet for example see this: http//www.kia-forums-com/kia-carnival-sedona-suddenly loss-accelerator-response.html.tr.dated 9/11/2011.

Have had vehicle back into dealer 5 times, since feb 11 first check engine and esc light on and van would not go push down on gas pedal and nothing had it towed in. They reprogrammed and then feb24th esc light on again.went back in they replaced steering angler sensor. Van still not running right down shifts on its own. Took back they said found no problem to have trans fluid changed so i did and it still happened. Then driving down the road the van s brakes lock up and the engine revved up and almost went through the windshield. Called dealer next day they said i could not get an appt until oct6 almost a month away. I called backand asked if it was safe to drive and he said no i could bring in and they would get to when ever they get a chance, they had it for 5 days and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I went to pick it up started the van to leave and the esc light was on. I went back in and asked why? they took for a ride then put on machine said they needed to order the sensor to replace the same one they replace in feb. Told me it was safe to drive home and bring back thur sept 22. 2011, so drive home get 2 blocks from home and the brakes locked up the tires squeal and i slid off the side of the road luckily i didn't hit anything. Scared me death. Had van towed back to dealer and its still there now. I called kia main office to discuss problem and how im very worried about the safety of my van. He said he'd call back yesterday but haven't heard from him yet. I tried to call him 2 times today and no answer. Then the dealer called said they did some reprogramming but still looking for the problem they are driving it to see if it does it for them if not they will just give it back to me.that makes me feel really safe i don't want to drive it until i know its fixed and safe. They acted like they have never heard of this problem before.

Constant pool of oil under the hood.(to me it is in the engine compartment - i've been told it's near the transmission case and also told it's near the intake manifold).the oil pool was first noticed by my husband when he was checking our fluids before a trip. It was pointed out to the dealer in july when we were there with engine problems and they "cleaned oil off" as stated on invoice.when questioned about it they had no answer as to what it was from.the oil was there again and has been there constantly since july. The dealer tells us it's oil that's been spilled from oil changes but everytime they clean it off it appears again. The oil was cleaned off twice in october but it's still there. Engine is also very loud and vibrates.manufacturer was notified in july - no work performed other than wiping it off and no diagnostics to figure out where it's coming from.

Passenger sliding door on my 2009 kia sedona is very hard to open. It has been since we got it.sometimes the door gets stuck and will not open at all from the inside. Someone has to get out another door and open it from the outside. On one occasion the dealer's mechanictold us to open the door slower - it still got stuck. On another occasion the manager of the dealership sat in the van and after playing with the door showed us how to open it by pulling on the handle two times and pushing very hard on it.the dealer wouldn't do any work to the door. It continued to get stuck frequently and when it does open it is only after we push on it very hard. We took it to another dealer who at least tried to lubricate the doors. It seems to get stuck less frequently but is still hard to open and sticks once in a while.the 2nd dealer wrote on invoice "door would not open even with excessive force".i feel this is a safety issue as my children might not be able to get the door open in an emergency. The manufacturer was notified of this in july.
He sliding doors on the 2009 kia sedona freeze shut. Leading to pulling and yanking on the handles to get the doors to open. This happens on a very regular basis and has since the first freeze of purchasing the van in october of 2009. After noticing that two other vans in the area have the same issue, i have decided to make a complaint. At times we have loaded our children through the front doors to allow them getting in the van. Another time we had to drive our other vehicle. It will eventually cause the handles to break off the van with the amount of force we need to use to open the doors.
I bought the car last year and it worked fine until this spring when it had sudden acceleration in the rear gear, causing a minor accident. I was not sure it was the uncontrolled acceleration but then it had two more cases of sudden forward acceleration that cannot be stopped by stepping on the brakebut can be stopped by shifting the gear to neutral. Then this morning (06/18/2012) when i backed out of the home driveway and put the gear to drive, it suddenly started the acceleration again. This time it wouldn't stop even with the gear quickly shifted to neutral, and kept on accelerating. I managed to steer away from collisions for 4 blocks but ended up hitting a fire hydrant and two sign posts, scrape another car, then finally hit the fence to stop the car. The car is totaled but fortunately nobody was hurt. Obviously this car is a great danger to people. It should be recalled immediately.

The front brake caliper mounting brackets bolts loosen and fall out causing caliper failure.this also cause the caliper to become loose and scrub the inside of the rim which in turn damages both the caliper and the rim.this happens while in motion both on highways and city streets.

Anti-lock brakes and engine stability control. In july at approx 12,800 miles the abs and esc lights came on.when pressed the brake pedal thumped as if braking on ice or snow. Gas pedal would rumble and vibrate when van started in motion.took to dealer and told the sensor was inoperable and it would take 5 days for the part but it was ok to drive it like that - including taking my family on vacation 300 miles away! when i refused to drive it off the lot they ended up taking a sensor from a new van on the lot and fixed it. Happened again at 16000 miles.brake pedal thumping - gas pedal rumbling - abs and esc lights were on along with tpms and check engine lights.had to wait and drive it for days before an appointment. Second abs sensor went bad also and a hub ring had to be replaced .

The contact owns a 2009 kia sedona. While the vehicle was undergoing an inspection, the technician stated that the control arm was rusted and that the vehicle would barely pass the inspection. In 2017, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to sunbury motors kia (570-286-7746, located at 2030 n susquehanna trail, selinsgrove, pa 17870) where it was diagnosed that there was rust on the control arm, but not enough for a replacement. The technician applied an undercoating. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the dealer did what was needed at the time. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Consumer stated kia refuses to replace the control arm because they say the undercoating is all they are required to do.
A recall was issued.we took the vehicle to the dealer for repair.we were told they could not do the repair as they did not have the tool needed.that was on june 23, 2017.after many phone calls, often daily, there is no resolution.kia keeps contacting the dealer, who keeps saying they do not have the tool.we have requested a loaner car until the repair can occur.we have been denied.today i was told they will contact me by next thursday (7/27/17) with a response.to date it is one month since we first tried to get the recall repair completed.we do reside in texas and understand that the recall is related to prolonged exposure to salt.we bought the vehicle in ohio and drove it there for almost 4 years before moving to texas.there is some vibration at higher speeds, which may or may not be related to the recall.we won't know until the inspection is done.we feel this vehicle may be unsafe to drive.attached are the notes from conversations with kia.i apologize that they may be difficult to read, but we had no idea they would be needed.
The passenger sliding doors on my 2009 kia sedona is very hard to open, sometimes, the right door can not be opened at all.there was a door latch recall in 2011, i had the latches attended to, afterwards, the doors worked for a while and then they stopped and havent worked since.also, the automatic feature only worked for 9 months after purchasing the vehicle.this is a real safety hazard due to the door not allowing you to enter or exit if a problem occurs.to open the door, you literally have to stick your fingers in the crease outside of the door, pull on the handle while tugging on the door extremely hard.i believe this is dangerous and a huge safety issue. The dealer told me it was nothing they could do or it would be very expensive to check the problem out.
The driver seat's front right tie down system has broken from seemingly inadequate steel cross sectional area abd anoverall a bad design. The power seat is manufactured by modifying manual seat with obvious defects, as a result of which the mounting/connection parts are subjected to stress and combined with inadequate sizes of sections definitely resulted in breaks.
The vehicle was stationary and a fire started somewhere in the engine and the whole car burned.
The horn just stop working!! changed all fuses and still continue not to work
The contact owns a 2009 kia sedona. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine service when the contact was informed that there was a manufacturer's recall that needed to be performed on the vehicle. The dealer replaced the intake air temperature sensor. Shortly after the repair, the vehicle would become hesitant to acceleration attempts. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the throttle sensor was replaced but the failure recurred. The failure and the current mileages were 30,000.
On 6/23/2010 at 3:45pm, i was driving a 2009 kia sedona van and entered a bank parking lot at a very low speed when the vehicle started to accelerate rapidly.i was unable to stop the vehicle and hit the wall of the bank.the air bag deployed, and i suffered injuries to my right arm from the deployment of the air bag.i was the only person in the car, and there were no injuries to any other person.property damage was only incurred to the vehicle and the bank building wall.there were no fires.the accident was reported to the police.there was no citation given to me by the police.the vehicle was purchased new in november of 2009.this was the first failure of this kind.the vehicle is currently being repaired, and when completed, kia will conduct diagnostic tests to determine what happened.
2009 kia sedona. Consumer states vehicle has an intermittent safety problem, gas pedal disconnect *tgwthe consumer stated the problems began within a few days after the dealer performed a service upgrade to the vehicle's computer. Since november 29, 2010, the problem typically occurred at very low speeds when starting off or speeding up slightly. When the accelerator pedal was applied there was no response from the engine for 3-5 seconds. The dealer replaced the throttle body and throttle position sensor. Updated 05/10/11
The front brake caliper mounting brackets bolts loosen and fall out causing caliper failure.this also cause the caliper to become loose and scrub the inside of the rim which in turn damages both the caliper and the rim.this happens while in motion both on highways and city streets.
