This 2009 kia rondo has had three air bag related problems.1.the front passenger seat was replaced at $1700 because a sensor caused the air bag light to display.2.the steering wheel air bag unit was replaced at $900 because again the air bag light was on.3.the same day that the steering wheel air bag unit was replaced the air bag light again displayed and this time the clock spring was replaced at no charge.these air bag problems raise serious concerns about the safety of kia vehicles.

Tiene prendido la luz de bagairy lo lleve a la agencia no lo quisieron checar por modelo antiguo y todava se burl deque ya no existe el modelo.

The contact owned a 2009 kia rondo. While driving 40 mph, the contact crashed into a parked vehicle on the side of the road. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained bruises to the chest and ribs that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed destroyed. The contact called southwest kia-rockwall at(469) 402-2900 (located at 1790 i-30 frontage rd, rockwall, tx 75087) to notify them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were not available.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. The contact stated that the air bag indicator continuously remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

My son & his friend were hit on the passenger side by a young man who intentionally ran a red light. He hid my son so hard that our 2009 kia rondo flipped 3 times and not one of the driver side airbags deployed. They did deploy on the passenger side only. The car has since been destroyed by the insurance company, however i still have pictures. I think this should be checked in other rondos so no one else has to endure what my son who was driving did. As you can see from the picture that although the passenger air bags deployed, the steering wheel in in tact and none of the driver side air bags deployed. Seems impossible since the car flipped over 3 times. He was driving on a city street.

Air bag light has illuminated and won't go off. Which may result in possible failure in a crash.

I was on the tollway in the right lane it was raining out a truck on the left side of me lost control hit into me and i ran into the light pole head on none of the air bags deployed i had my seatbelt on.

Just like the recall of 07-08 rondo models my air bag light has come on and fails to reset. I believe the recall should be extended. Light came on while car was stationary and started for a trip to the store.no photo the airbag light comes on each time the car is started. There is no airbag error code stored in the computer.

My airbag light has come on and i have not been in any accident and i am taking it to to the dealer. Why it should go on i don't know. There has been no reason for this issue to take place.it all happened yesterday, i put my seat belt on and started my car and the airbag light kept go on and off and now is staying on when the car is in drive.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. While driving at an unknown speed, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.updated 1/15/16

When i brake the car in the high speed(maybe 40 miles and more in highway), the steering wheel is shaking, and i need to handle it very hard. And this situation is more serious in highway.and the airbag light is always on when i am driving.

Nothing unordinary happened.however i believe it may have been around the time i had a new battery installed in my car.it went from one day to the next, where all of a sudden the airbag light can on and hasn't gone off since.i've had no accident, no major repair, nothing out of the ordinary.now, i'm looking to take it to the kia dealer, who wants to charge me $120 just to get codes and determine why the light is on.i feel this is something that should be covered under warranty, being that there is nothing a driver could do to cause a malfunction or disconnection with the airbags and how they function.i've seen three other posts on here where the airbags didn't deploy when they were suppose to.the big determining factor for my purchase of the kia rondo, was it's safety features, and all the airbags that are throughout the vehicle.something seem terribly wrong with having to pay twice for something, that appears to have been faulty off the manufacturing line.

Since i purchased the car at the kia dealership in nc - it was raining and i drover over a puddle of water, i was making a right turn in the process and all lights turned on on dash - it slowed my car down almostturned off. Airbag light turned on (still on). Car turned back on but everytime it rains - i am afraid because my car stalls and it stops depending on the amount of water. This is dangerous especially if i am on the highway. I called the kia shop and they find nothing wrong with my car and i have to pay to get the airbag light fixed. I don't think i should pay forsomething that i did not break.since i have hadmy car - it has done the above at least 4 times and the airbag light is still on.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. While the contact was driving approximately 45 mph, an opposing vehicle crashed into the rear passenger side door and side rear bumper. The air bags failed to deploy with the level of force involved in the crash. The front seat occupant and rear passenger sustained minor injuries and suffered from whiplash. A police report was available. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for repairs. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 14,000.

The engine fan keeps running when the car ignition is turned off.this happens intermittently and when it does happen, it drains the battery.

When i am driving and i hit water or slush on the road way at times my car will loss all power steering and breaking and the lights for the battery and other systems lights come on.it sometimes last for 10 second to 20 seconds.this cause my car to be unsafe for driving because all at one time you lose so much control.

2009 kia rondo has power steering and alternator failure during rain storms. The vehicle completely loses power steering, the brake and battery lights appear on the dashboard, and car sometimes shuts off. The car will restart, but makes a high-pitched screeching noise temporarily. It seems to happen mostly when the car is turning. I have not been in an accident yet, but it worries me to drive it in the rain (it even does it sometimes when driving through a puddle). I've seen many complaints about this on different forums, including kia.com forums. A couple links are listed below:www.arfc.org/complaints/2009/kia/rondo/http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-carens-rondo-forum/82332-power-steering-failure-wet-conditions-kia.htmlit is surprising that there has not been a recall of any type on this problem. Please look into this.

Water/mud gets into engine compartment during heavy rain.a day after driving in heavy rain, i opened the hood, and the right (passenger) side of the engine compartment was covered with a layer of mud. This included the engine, wiring, and most electrical components. I have never, in 37 years and nearly one million miles of driving, had this sort of intrusion into the engine compartment of any vehicle i have owned. Our fear is not only the possibility of an electrical fire, but of the slow failure of electrical components, causing serious problems, including fire, in the future.the kia dealership told me to talk to the factory rep, which i did on or about 7/30/09. The reps reply was a standard 'don't worry about'. He said all shields where in place, and he would have the service dept clean it up for me and apply a heavy coat of silicone spray to the engine compartment.i see this as a band-aid to a potentially serious fire problem.

Head lamps, fog lamps, and blinkers won't turn on. We changed the bulbs thinking they had blown. The lights wouldn't come on when car was restarted.

When driving the care in wet conditions, car either looses power or dies when right front wheel hits a water puddle.even small puddles cause car to loose power. Problem seems to be that water gets on the belt very easily. Having the belts tensioners tightened helps some, but doesnot eliminate the problem.i live in oregon and this problem happens quite frequently. 2009 kia rondo lx with 4 cylinder engine. Either road, highway or back roads, water puddles result in problems. Note:this is not driving through high water errors, even 1 to 2 inch puddles will do it.continuous problem over the 5 years we have owned the car.also speed does not seem to be much of an influence.

When key is removed from the ignition switch, indicates that the key is still on.have to restart and remove the key to disable them.navigation unit freezes.have to eject the cd and close them to enable use the navigation unittook the vehicle 3 or 4 times, dealer responding back that they are not able to replicate the issue.

While driving 30 mph, through a puddle, the car lost all ability to steer. Power felt as if it shut off for approximately 1 minute. Not the first time this has happened. Can you please investigate or do recall for whatever parts need to be replaced???

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. Whenever the vehicle drives through water and has a splash, the battery light illuminates and the power steering fails for a few minutes. Initially, the contact thought the failures were caused by heavy rain and large bodies of water; however, they occurred any time the vehicle went through water. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Complaint: i've had my car a little under 2 years, and i continuously have a problem with the brakes and steering. I've gotten my brakes fixed at least 4-5 times since i had the vehicle. It does not drive or brake correctly when cold but mostly when it's raining or wet outside. I don't know what to do about this issue. I'm afraid of my own vehicle when driving in rain, puddles, etc. Because it doesn't stop with urgency or stay in control when i go over even small puddles. ( i don't have an exact date, i just know it's happened multipleeee times while driving)

This model car has at least three headlights.i have replaced the main headlights now 4 times in the last 6 - 7 months.now the transmission has locked up making it impossible to put the car into park or past neutral. The esc off light will not go off. This issue has been observed on the 2007 model of this car.

The esc light went to esc off status. Tried to repair brake light switch. Brake light plunger stopper was broken. Cannot find replacement stopper of this type. Appears this is a completely different brake pedal assembly than original rondo lx 2009. There was definitely a recall for this issue and we were not notified. Need assistance in making safety issue corrected. Park position can also slip out without applying the brake. Brake lights can stick on. Need assistance asap from kia.

While driving in the rain, the steering wheel locks and the brake light and battery light come on. The car remains on. I could be driving straight or trying to turn. It lasts at least 10-30 seconds making it very dangerous to drive.

When i am driving and i hit water or slush on the road way at times my car will loss all power steering and breaking and the lights for the battery and other systems lights come on.it sometimes last for 10 second to 20 seconds.this cause my car to be unsafe for driving because all at one time you lose so much control.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. While driving various speeds, the engine stalled and the power steering seized without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact restarted the vehicle and it returned to normal. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The engine fan keeps running when the car ignition is turned off.this happens intermittently and when it does happen, it drains the battery.

Driving 65 mph on freeway suddenly loses compression to zero mph

Air conditioning system- the ac cluch has been wining and will need to be replaced at 72,000. It is now out of warrenty 60,000/5 years. $715 to rebuild clutch or $1100 for new ac compressor.

In january 2013 my care began to make a whinning noise.i took my car to my mechanic who stated the power steering pump went out.i was in disbelief due to my care only being four years old.i then paid $650 for parts after i learned this was not covered under warranty (my car was over 60,000 miles). My mechanic then stated that he had seen several cars with the same make/ model with the same issue & that from his expertise this was going to be a domino effect of problems. He adv me to take the care to kia dealership to see if they would be able to do more due to the car was only four years young.so i took the car to the dealership in conord, ca & they adv me that the air compressor was the issue gave me an estimate of $1400 to repair.parts employee stated that there where no recalls or problems with any other cars other than mine so far (after i asked has this ever been recalled). Kia parts employee adv me to call around to get the parts estimates after i told him $1400 was too much to pay for a car that kia should held responsible for.i called around for parts & was adv that based upon the age of my car this par should still be working.i filed a complaint with kia based out of sacramento & was told they wouldn't do anything unless alot of people came together to file a law suit.needless to say right now i'm at loss of words with kia as a company, their lack of empathy, and accountability i would never adv anyone to purchase a kia & i need to be reimbursed as i'm currently making monthly payments in addition to paying for repairs on this car.

Responding to recall summary on line . I called kia motors told them my 2009 rondo was listed with a recall . I gave them my vin # they lookup on their system . And told me there was no recall on my car. So there nothing they do . Please help find out if i'm still able to get this recall service thanks.

Fuel smell in vehicle while driving, fuel seepage from injectors onto the intake manifold.vehicle was taken to multiple dealers but the problem was not fixed.the dealers could not find a leak or smell any gas fumes.as of today, vehicle still has the problem.

The gas is being sucked down so fast that i'm only getting 6 miles to a half a tank of gas. This appears to be a common problem with this car and yet kia says they are unaware of any problems related to this model or year. The mechanics have been unable to find the cause of the problem.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. The contact stated that the fuel pump failed to pump fuel to the engine. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (grieco honda located at 1880 hartford ave, johnston, ri 02919; (877) 428-5614) where it was diagnosed that the entire fuel pump unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-333-4542 and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. While driving various speeds, water made contact with the fuel intake valve and caused the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was able to be restarted. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure occurred intermittently. An independent mechanic stated that the fuel intake valve was too close to the wheel and was not able to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.

Automatic transmission jerks/lunges when it shifts at speeds less than 50 km/hr.

Malfunctioning transmission solenoid that the kia factory rep told us "when it fails, the transmission will go into safe mode and you can bring it back". My concern is what happens when (factory rep word, not mine) it fails, what is going to happen if my wife is doing 65mph on the interstate. The solenoid emits a very loud buzz that can be heard for several hundred feet that was not there when we test drove the car, and it was not there for about the first three weeks we owned it. It started as an occasional buzz, and is now there at all times when the transmission is in gear.it appears to be a known problem because when we took it in, a mechanic came out and said he knew what the problem was. The service manager immediately told me i could talk to the factory rep about it. The factory rep had no answer when i asked why it started only after several weeks, nor did he have any answer about what happens with a high-speed failure. A complaint to kia customer service led them to ask the factory rep about it, and he told them they do it a first start. Ours is all the time, and i am very concerned about the safety of my family when (not if) it fails.

2009 kia rondo lx - 2 broken seat belt buckles in back seat - the seat belt casing on driver side back seat completely came off;the middle seat belt buckle casing is cracked and inoperable.

Drivers side seat belt will not lock when trying to put it on; while stationary and in park.takes several attempts, and lots of jiggling, to get it to engage.it sometimes comes unhooked when driving down the road.the middle back seat belt is frozen and unusable.when i had a similar problem with my 1989 toyota corolla years back, the dealer told me federal law specified the manufacturer was responsible for replacing seat belts that were failing, even without a recall, for the life of the car.kia has told me it's my responsibility.i would think they would not want to risk a wrongful death lawsuit if i, or my family members, were killed or seriously injured due to seat belt failure.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. The contact stated that the seat belt on the front driver side does not latch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the diagnostic testing was that the seat belt needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000. The vin was not available.

The 3rd row seat belt buckles (both of them) have broken/fell apart and are no longer usable. The seat belts are not able to be clicked/locked and create an unsafe environment for all occupants in the vehicle. I noticed they both broke when i went to buckle in my kids. The middle seat belt in the 2nd row also has locked up and retracted and will not unlock/release and is unable to be used. If someone was buckled in that position, the seat belt would have to be cut off to be removed from the person. It would prevent removal of occupant in case of an emergency. I noticed that the seat belt will not release when i was cleaning my vehicle. I contacted kia motors america via social media and an agent of kia contacted me back and said that i could take it to a kia shop and have them check them out and if i wanted to, price out the replacement buckles and seat belt and replace them myself but just make sure to use oem kia parts. Offered no real solution on kia's behalf.

When it is raining or after rain if there are still puddles in the road, when the car goes through any puddles the steering locks up for at least 45 seconds.i had my daughter learning how to drive and this happened to her.i should not have to worry about putting my child at risk like this especially with the price of this car. I've had the power steering pump replaced and it still does this.my esc light has been on since i got the car.so any time i hit the smallest bump or when trying to stop on a bumpy road or on snow or ice, the car locks up.the brakes go out and its like everything in the car locks up for a few seconds.it is terrifying especially when trying to stop at a light.i have never in my life experienced so many issues in a vehicle before owning a kia rondo.i have had the whole front end suspension replaced, new tires and rims and a month later the car is wobbling again.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph during inclement conditions, the vehicle lost power steering and the brakes failed. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. The vin was not available.

Any time there is water on the road my car loses steering and braking capabilities.doesn't mater if it is a small puddle or a large one.instrument panel lights come on and a loud squealing noise happens.i took the car to be looked at and they said the shield is in place and this shouldn't be happening.i bought the car in 2010 and it started doing this in 2013.

Twice in the last two weeks, while driving in the rain, both the power steering and the brakes failed.the steering wheel would not turn at all, no matter how hard i tried.the brakes were completely inoperable.after 5-10 seconds, the power steering and the brakes would work again.the worst incident ocurred while attempting to turn in a busy intersection; thank god no one was hurt.the other incident was in a school crossing zone, while children were walking or bicycling to school.we are afraid to drive the car until it can be repaired.

Every time i went through a puddle today the parking brake/brake fluid light and the charging system warning light would come on.it also lost power steering while this happened.it lasted only a few moments but with traffic and kids in the back, a few moments is long enough.this happened with every puddle and even on the freeway when water splashed underneath!!

In january 2013 my care began to make a whinning noise.i took my car to my mechanic who stated the power steering pump went out.i was in disbelief due to my care only being four years old.i then paid $650 for parts after i learned this was not covered under warranty (my car was over 60,000 miles). On three occasions within the past twelve months, i have completely lost power steering while driving.the wheel becomes almost unmovable(i am a strong, adult male).on one of these occasions, the weather was damp and the engine also stalled.fortunately i was able to muscle and coast the car onto the shoulder where i was able to restart the car and drive away. On the remaining two occasions i was driving at 65 mph on the interstate when the power steering ceased to work.terrifying and deadly.latest event was may 9, 2018.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph during inclement conditions, the vehicle lost power steering and the brakes failed. Multiple times during heavy rain my car would loose power steering. The battery and emergency break lights would come on. I took it to the dealership where i purchased the car (el cajon, ca) and they said everything was fine. This typically happened when turning or driving through large puddles. Steering shaft would lock up and on occasion a high pitched squealing sound could be heard. Very unsafe and very scary!

Every time i go through a small puddle i lose control of steering the vehicle. It has happened backing out of my driveway numerous times, lasts a few minutes and then i regain control of steering. Fortunately, it's happened on my street for the most part. Last week, september 16, 2020, i was on a very busy main road when i was making a right turn into a shopping center. I turned right, went through a small puddle, and lost control of steering. Fortunately there was no one behind me so i shifted backwards and tried to force the steering wheel with no luck. I repeated going backwards and after a few attempts the steering function came back. I've had the drive belt replaced so that can't be the problem. I've recently had an alignment, two new tires installed, and tires rotated. Nothing was mentioned about any issues. I take my vehicle to the same repair shop and have had everything checked out. I know the vehicle is otherwise functioning well. I was on-line searching to see if other people have had this problem. There are many complaints about the same thing happening to other people.there are no recalls but i think this is a serious enough problem that kia should investigate and correct.

Multiple occurrences of power steering cuts out in wet conditions with battery light and another light illuminating.once the lights go off, power steering is regained.it is my daughters car and now we i don't let her drive when it rains or if it is wet out.kia states there is no recall or tsb for what i am experiencing.how is this not a safety concern?each occurrence the car has to be stopped and at highway speeds this has almost caused a crash multiple times.when making a turn have to slam on breaks to the stop to regain heading control.

This started on 10/2012, and has been happening whenever i tried to drive in rain since.ive had to wait to try to see what is wrong because i couldnt afford to do anything about it .it was raining outside and i left my home to go to the store and went to turn the corner and there was a very loud grinding noise and the steering wheel froze, just completely seized on me and i drove right into the curb opposite the road.i had a child in the car with me and it was terrifying!now, i cannot drive at all in the rain or even if there's puddles on the road!i see that there's others that have had this same issue, even some having wrecks on the freeway!why isnt this a recall issue!?it is hurricane season here, and its been near impossible to make an appointment at the dealer with all the rain every day, nor do they allow you to just drop off your car and leave it unless its towed in which i cannot do.i am terrified to drive my own car and dont have a lot of money to fix it since im on disability.please help

Any time there is water on the road while driving my car loses steering and braking capabilities. Doesn't mater if it is a small puddle or a large one, even if just damp on road. Instrument panel lights come on and a loud squealing noise happens. Like the car is stalling. I took the car to my mechanic to be looked at and they said the shield is in place and this shouldn't be happening they placed the belt tensioner and the problem is still happening. This has happened numerous times.

Passing through water puddles or driving in the rain the steering locks up. I had the power steering belt replaced but the problem still exists. I had it lock up while making turns. It's very dangerous.

When conditions are wet, power steering freezes up.dangerous. Took to dealer, everything is fine, but it is still doing it.what is the resolution?there should be a recall.

2009 kia rondo - 115,000 miles.for the past 2-3 months, the steering locks up when i go through rain puddles, first making a loud noise underneath, then loosing power.two lights appear on the dashboard.i have found if i turn off the air conditioner, the problem corrects itself.this has to be associated with the air conditioner or air compressor.we just went through tropical storm hermine and this was a constant problem.something needs to be done by the dealer - such as a recall to get this fixed before the car crashes and i have no control.

Lost power steering after going through a puddle today during a rainstorm.i was going about 25mph when i stopped at a stop sign the attempt to turn right onto a curved right uphill. It lasted a few seconds a charger light went on but that also lasted a few seconds.

In october 2014, my car lost power steering when going through puddles.i got the alternator belt replaced and it seemed to fix the problem.in june 2015, it occurred again.i took it to lokey kia in clearwater, fl to fix the problem (along with an air bag issue problem) and they diagnosed it as an ac compressor problem (they did not replicate the problem) and the air bag issue was due to the clock spring.i did not have it repaired that day and came home and reported it on this website.i got a call from kia corp. Office of product liability saying that they called because of my complaint here.(i only reported the power steering problem here, not the air bag issue.)in the end, kia paid to have the air bag problem fixed and not the power steering claiming that the airbag issue was a "safety" issue and they were repairing it for free in "goodwill."they would not repair for free or reduce the cost of the power steering problem because it was not a "safety" issue and the problem i originally reported here!!how is losing my power steering not a "safety" issue?i am terrified to drive my car in the rain, especially with my grandkids in the car.

Steering locks up when driving through a rain puddle. This has happened 4 times in the last few months. Vehicle was in motion on city streets and at highway speeds. This has happened while going straight and turning.

When i drive in wet conditions, sometimes the steering wheel is inoperable for a few seconds. I've seen many other people say they've experienced the same issues with their vehicle and kia claims that there's nothing wrong with the vehicle. This is an issue that could cause injury or death. This needs to be addressed and they need to be recalling these vehicles before something very bad happens.

When it is raining and it seem it only happens when my front passenger side tire gets wet from puddles in the roadway. The battery light and airbag light comes on and the power steering goes out.my car does not stall and after pumping the brake some to dry out the brake then the lights go out on the dash and i get the power steering back. From this list of other having the very same issue kia needs to address this.this just started within the past 9 months and i have had the car since 2010.kia can't keep ignoring this issue.

Everytime it rains or i go over a puddle my power steering locks up on me and i cant move the steering wheel. I have read so many stories of this happening to other rondos like mine.. Why has this not been recalled yet??? i almost get in a wreck everytime it rains!! this is absolutely crazy that it has not had a recall yet!!!!

Several times when in rainy conditions the car have lost the power steering, making a horrible noise, engine and battery lights turn on. Very scary and dangerous situation due to not being able to control the car at all. Only option is to stop the car, turn it off and wait till is operational again. It happened while hitting puddles of water or in heavy rain. I did contact kia about it and they only said there is not a recall.

The contact owns a 2009 kia rondo. While driving at approximately 5 mph through a puddle of water, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact stated that this was a recurring failure. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the power steering belt failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

My husband was sitting in our kia, in park and car turned off, when he heard a loud snapping sound.car towed to shop resulted in mechanic stating our front driver strut "exploded" into several pieces.lucky we were not driving when it happened, he stated.never had a car do this before, ever!

Front springsbreaking and it is numerous model years. Kia knows about this and has done nothing. When you turn the springs twist and break. This is the 2nd time for me that my front springs have broken. Found during a inspection.

My cruise control buttons are not setting properly.will not set properly
