The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact was sitting in the parked vehicle when another vehicle crashed into the passenger's side door of the contact's vehicle. The second vehicle was traveling at an unknown speed upon impact.the contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. As a result, the contact sustained head, arm, neck and ankle injuries. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue and advised the contact to have the vehicle repaired under nhtsa campaign id number 12v244000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). The manufacturer also advised that they would contact her at a later date but failed to do so.the failure and current mileages were unavailable.updated 12/13/12 the consumer statedthe vehicle was repaired for damges caused by the accident. The vehicle was turned into the dealer. The consumer was having thought processing issues that was not a problem prior to the accident. Updated 1/2/2013

While driving my car the air bag light came on and the passenger side of the car where the other air bag light car flashing. I took the car into the dealer and was told that the airbag censor in the seat track needed to be replaced. Due to this problem none of my air bags work. I am concerned since they have had one recall on their airbags that this is something that should further be checked into.

I was involved in 2 separate vehicle collisions in my 2008 kia rondo on 2 separate occasions. I was sitting in the stopped vehicle when another vehicle crashed into the passenger's side door/rear of the vehicle. The second vehicle was traveling at an unknown speed upon impact. The air bags failed to deploy on both occasions. As a result, i sustained neck and back injuries. The vehicle was drivable and not towed, but driven to a dealer/private mechanic. The failure could not be replicated. The air bags were not repaired or recalled at time of either incident/accident. The air bag light illuminated after first accident and was on at time of second accident. The dealer/manufacturer was contacted about this issue and i was advised there was no air bag recall at this time. The vehicle was repaired for structural damages caused by the accident. The vehicle was turned into the dealer/private mechanic. Physical therapy was obtained through the accident claims.

Takata recall.i don't know enough about vehicle airbags to know if my problem is part of the takata recall.however, i've learned that kia did issue a recall for an airbag problem with the rondo (# sc094).unaware of this recall, i brought my kia to the kia dealer when my airbag light illuminated.it's possible that the date was prior to the kia recall. The kia dealer told me that i must pay out of pocket for any investigation of the cause of the airbag light illuminating due to the expiration of the 60,000 mile warranty on the vehicle.to this day, the airbag light is still illuminated.i'm not certain of the exact date that i notified the kia dealer.

Takata recall-the airbags are not working for passenger. The electrical components do not work for the windows. And one more thing. The handles to open the doors are made of plastic and easily break, so you can no longer open the doors.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving 40 mph, the air bag light remained illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 163,500.

Air bag light on dash came on. Passenger air bag light not working.passenger seat belt warning came on when driving even though no one sitting in seat. Dealer said it was a problem with seat at first. Replaced seat but still problem. Turned out to be module under dash.cost almost $1000 for module.

Airbag and passenger seatbelt warning lights remain on at all times.the car has been in for service several times, but the problem has not been corrected.the warning lights are only a minor nuisance, but i was told that when the light is on, the airbag is inoperable and would not deploy in an accident.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving approximately 35 mph, another vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained minor injuries to the head, the eye, and the left side of his face that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 12v014000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Rear ended another car at 35 mph and air bags did not go off. The seat belt never caught either throwing driver into steering wheel.

Was in car accident at 55 mph 3 car wreck. Impact with rear of a pick-up truck. Air bags all failed to deploy. Was on highway.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving approximately 40 mph, the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The failure was not diagnosed or remedied. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Brought my car to kia dealership upon re-call 6/2012 to replace clock spring assembly.12/28/2015 - brought car to same kia dealership and found that the clock spring assembly had to be replaced again since the air bag light continues to stay on. Called kia same day to let them know that the assembly had to be replaced and that they should be responsible for payment.they stated that it was not under warranty and since the dealership replaced the original assembly during the re-call, i would have to pay the cost for the defective assembly that was replaced during re-call with the newly installed assembly on 12/29/2015.i believe it is the kia corporations responsibility to absorb payment for the defective clock spring assembly that controls deployment of the driver side air bag.i will have to pay $271.00 plus tax in order for the dealership to release my car.i should be reimbursed by kia corp for the defective part and labor that was needed to replace the assembly. Interesting, they wouldn't allow me to take their survey to rate their service!will also take this matter to the better business bureau!

I was broadsided on the passenger side at a busy intersection.the air bag cover on the passenger side popped off and hit me (the driver) in the head. The air bags on the front and back passenger's side fell out but did not deploy.the driver's side did not deploy at all. The air bags were less than worthless, they were a dangerous flying object.

Vehicle was taken to premiere kia of kenner, and also contacted kca/irvine 7:40am call; issue car sputters when gas pedal applied; car does not start after fueling, requires multiple starts; car stalled twice on hwy nov. 20, 2014issues began.kia dealerrepresentative refused service of nhtsa campaign recall # 08v459000 recall date sept. 17, 2008, subsequently contacted kia consumer affairsin irvine, ca. Call center the phone call outcome csr stated would contact the local district manager for approval of recall would expedite process, csr stated would contact local dm within two hours and get back; received denial letter in mail.recalls shows 6,680 ?potential units affected for this recall 08v459000 fuel pump sub assembly, whereas campaign recall # 12v014000 shows 145,755 units affected for ?airbag clock spring assembly? and recall # 13v114000 shows 623,658 units affected for ?stop lamp switch may function intermittently.?on the surface seems kia is only including full recalls for vehicles only if it poses the least financial harm to the corporate company profit as shown in the number of recalls of ?easy to fix? issues but those such as the fuel pump assembly have the least amount of issued recalls representing a negligible amount of total vehicles. Is kia sacrificing safety for profit with these corporate decisions? kia has denied a recall of the same issues that my vehicle is experiencing as stated in the recall bulletin: ?the fuel pump may not supply enough fuel to the engine, causing hard starting, engine hesitation, or other potential impairment. Unusually severe hesitation or other impairment could expose the driver to the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the fuel pump sub-assembly with an updated part.?kia has neglected to resolve faulty issue.please advise kia to rectify the situation by repairing the faulty fuel pump assembly.

Husband driving , car stopped suddenly, he hit brakes , brakes failed, andrear ended car in front, who then hit car in front, who then hit car in front. 1 or 2 people injured and was taken to hospital. We are sore, but will survive. Was recall on part that was replaced ,faulty brake light switch. Switch was replaced in sept. 2013 and accident was 11-12-13. Had mechanic checked and codes c1513 and c1616 came up. Have been told this could have caused brake failure. Concerned that a part that was replaced one month before accident, had failed again.people will be injured or worse killed because of this problem. Been speaking to man in canada via internet, who has exact same vehicle, same year, same make, who also had brake failure.spoke with kia, they refuse to do anything.please do something about this before others are injured.

Single-car accident; rollover, 2008 kia rondo declared a total loss by insurance co.; safety features included electronic stability control; 6 airbags including side/head curtain and not one deployed - i suffer from approx 6" lesion with partial skull showing (16 staples) to left side of head from the sideroof slammed into me; i was wearing a seatbelt and it saved my life - glass exploded everywhere, i have severe whiplash and concussion.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact stated that while driving approximately at 40 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the diagnosis was unknown. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

On multiple occasions, our kia rondo has experienced an electrical issue that affects our power steering and our dashboard lights. These have all occurred while driving in wet conditions. We drove through a small puddle in the road and our power steering failed. At the same time our seatbelt light began flashing and our brake light and battery lights came on. We were able to get off the road and everything began working again in about one minute.

Every time i went through a puddle, the parking brake/brake fluid light and the charging system warning light would come on. It also lost power steering while this happened. It lasted few moments. This happened with every puddle and even on the freeway when water splashed underneath!!

I was driving my car..then all of a sudden it started raining..the steering went out the interior lights came on and the engine belt was making a awful noise! but what concerned me i could not control my car...i have look up the research of others complaining about the same problem

I tried unsuccessfully (3 time)to turn off my cruise control as traffic got slower. I was unable to get the cruise control to turn off by using the off (cancel) button on the steering wheel, tapping the brake to turn it off didn't work either. I did end up coming to a stop (skidding to a stop) in the middle of a snow bank in a field off the side of the road.

Takata recall-the airbags are not working for passenger. The electrical components do not work for the windows. And one more thing. The handles to open the doors are made of plastic and easily break, so you can no longer open the doors.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the ability to steer seized. The failure resulted in a head on collision with another vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, but was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

The "esc off" light is constantly illuminated on the dash, and my mechanic could not turn it off.sometimes, after emerging from a 90-degree turn (i.e., at an intersection), the car's brakes will suddenly engage on their own (and usually "pump"), rendering the accelerator inoperable and the brakes uncontrollable, while the "esc off" light flashes on and off.this has lasted for as long as ten seconds, causing the vehicle to slow almost to a stop in traffic.i have searched online and found that i am not the only kia owner to experience this.

My rondo speeds up while i'm driving it on the road, and it smells of gas inside my rondo, it runs high when i start it and there's a hesitation before it drives.

Steering system has experienced a thumping grind on reverse turns when steering wheel is fully engaged.repaired multiple times by lubing stops.brake calipers do not engage properly and have been replaced numerous times.air conditioning drain line is located directly above passenger side engine cradle mounting excess condensation has completely rusted through the cradle and broken apart.vehicle only has 65,000 miles.

I was at a red light and the car was started, the vehicle began to jerk violently with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. I did mention this issue when i had the next oil change and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure to my knowledge. No offer or any assistance was referred by the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the mileage at the time was about 70,000. This incident has occurred several times, but i am more concerned about the sputtering noise and a hesitation while starting vehicle after refueling. This could also put you in danger of being struck from oncoming traffic. These occurrences are worse, when the air conditioning is on. These occurrences of revving idle speed, unexpectedly, may occur only once in two months or they may occur two or three times in one week.

My check engine light is on. When i refuel my vehicle it has difficulty restarting. Over the course of the last couple months, it has started to stall. Looking at forums i found quite a few people with the same "issue" but no solutions. I have had my vehicle on a diagnostic machine and it comes back with an evap code. The codes have been cleared but come right back on. I see the fuel pump has been recalled, i have had my car since the fall of 2009 and to my knowledge i haven't had this repaired, but for some reason this does not show up when i do the recall search. Has it already been repaired prior to my purchasing the vehicle?

My vehicle reves up high when i start it and when i'm on the highway it would just cut off and there's gas fumes i smellinside my kia, it also hesitates while driving.

Did oil change regularly, it has 905908 miles, while driving oil light came pulled over, look andno oil stop , stopped at a gas station and bought oil, added oil to car, then making noise to it to dealer and needs a new engine , took car home , on way oil light came on again look and no oil, doesn't leak and no oil burn out, but mo oil again. Added oil junking car.

Check engine light comes on associated with cvvt assemble/timing and the computer in the engine.

2008 kia rondo.consumer writes in regards to gasket/ oil pan problems.the consumer stated during a routine oil change, he was informed there was a small leak in the oil pan gasket and it would be corrected during the next service, since the oil had already been changed. During the service, it was determined that the oil pan was porous and because the consumer was not the original owner, it would not be corrected and it was no longer covered under warranty.

During an inspection of the undercarriage on my kia, an auto mechanic informed me that my oil pan had rusted through and engine oil was seeping through the metal.the cost of parts and labor for a replacement is approximately $250.the service manager of the auto repair garage stated that in his experience this was not an uncommon problem with some kia and hyundai models.in my opinion, this is a major manufacturing defect.that is, the metal used to manufacture a critical part on the engine (mine is 2.4 liter/4 cylinder) is defective either in composition or gauge.i've owned vehicles for over 40 years and, prior to this, i've never heard of an oil pan rusting through.as background, i purchased this vehicle new.i'm retired and i do not drive regularly (no commute).although i live in maine where road salt is used liberally on roads, i have avoided driving in winter storms whenever possible.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle suddenly stopped moving and shut off. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. A passerby inspected the vehicle and stated that the fuel pump or alternator may have failed. The passerby banged on the fuel tank a couple of times and the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was driven to the contact's home and was then towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump failed. The contact researched the failure online and found many unknown recalls on other vehicles. The contact attempted to call the manufacturer, but all lines led back to roadside assistance; therefore, the contact was unable to speak with a live representative. The contact called bill dodge kia (3 saunders way, westbrook, me 04092, (207) 854-3200) and they initially hung up on her. They later stated that their website was down and promised a call back. The contact had not yet heard back from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.

The check engine light comes on and the engine timing/ computer being impactedinstance happen june 19, 2013 car failed nj inspection cost to repair $782.85.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact stated that once started, the vehicle began to jerk violently with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 57,000.

As warm weather in kentucky ended (2011) we noticed the air not being cool.this year (2012) when it became hot enough to turn on the air conditioner we received nothing but hot air.the car was taken to have radiator flushed and coolant put in.then freon was added.that's when the verdict came in as being the compressor was not working.why would there been a compressor that goes out in a 2008 kia?

Accelerator is "drive by wire". The engine experiences hesitation, when taking off from a stop, about 50% of the time, when the ac is on. Sometimes the vehicle begins to accelerate, then the engine drops to idle speed, even when you depress the pedal to the floor. This can cause you to be struck by oncoming traffic, when you are entering a highway or roadway. Usually the vehicle will then take off unexpectedly screeching the tires, when this occurs. But, sometimes, when it does begin to accelerate after one of these occurrences, it will very slowly begin to pick up speed, as if it is starving for gas. This could also put you in danger of being struck from oncoming traffic.these occurrences are worse, when the air conditioning is on. Sometimes, when you are taking off from a stop and putting very little pressure on the accelerator pedal, the car takes off abruptly, squealing the tires as if you had depressed the pedal to the floor suddenly. When the pavement is wet, this will cause the tires to spin and then the engine will drop to an idle, leaving you susceptible to being struck from oncoming traffic. The dealer has told me there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, even after the "mechanic" rode with me and said he could feel it accelerating in steps. These occurrences of dropping to idle speed, unexpectedly, may occur only once in two months or they may occur two or three times in one week. Hotter outside air temperature seems to cause the problem to worsen.

I have a 2008 kia rondo lx (v6) which has around 6300miles. I am the first owner and drove it for the last 6 months. Even epa fuel economy estimates are 18 mpg (city : 14 to 22 mpg) and 26 mpg (highway: 21 to 31 mpg) at the window sticker, they were not realistic. I do not complain on city mpg and it is 19-20 mpg in average but in highway mpg, it was very disappointing. I had several travels which take 2 hours at the speed of 65-70 mpg. Every time, it was 21-22 mpg in average. The best one with 65 mph using cruise control was 23.2mpg. I have never had 31 mpg at all as well as highway average mpg of 26. So i think that kia a lot overstated the highway mpg.

Equipment: air conditioneras warm weather in maryland ended (2011) i noticed the air not being cool. Last year (2012) when it became hot enough to turn on the air conditioner i received nothing but hot air. The car was taken to have diagnosis, but i was told by several private mechanics that the compressor had freon and i should check with the dealer because if i add freon i could damage the compressor. Freon was not added. I contacted the dealer and i was informed i would be charged $100.00 for diagnosis. That's when i checked the internet to see similar issues with theverdict being the compressor was not working. Why would there been a compressor that goes out in a 2008 kia rondo in 2011.

The brake lights on my 2008 kia rondo have not been working consistently. I have been told by several individuals who were driving behind me in the past few days that my brake lights are "out". However, they did work when i checked at one point after the warning and then another driver told me the same thing. I replaced the lights and now they do not work at all. I have checked the fuses and the fuses have not blown. I have seen a "recall" for an earlier year kia. The same thing is happening to my kia. My kia should be included in the "recall". This could cause a serious crash. I have no idea if the lights will work or not. Right now, they do not. Kia has too, too many problems with its vehicles to even argue against my point. This is far from the only dangerous issue that i have with my kia. At this point, i am simply fed up. I called kia motors and spoke to a customer service representative and asked how to make a formal complaint because i received two "voluntary service campaign" notices; one for the air bag and one for the rear cross-member of the car. I am facing problem after problem with this car. The other issues are surging of the car without pressing on the gas and even while pressing on the brake and the air conditioner failing right after the warranty ended. Kia needs to be reprimanded and forced to fix these cars. Additionally, it is a serious conflict of interest to have kia customer service employees responsible for sending notifications of problems with kia cars to the nhsta. Who oversees that this is done honestly by the car companies?

On may 24, 2011, i realized that my air conditioner no longer worked. It was blowing hot air. May 27th, i took it to my mechanic, who checked it out and said it was my condenser and that it was still under warranty. So i scheduled an appointment with the dealer to have the repair done. The serviceman told me that there are many parts to an air conditioner that the repair may not be under warranty. He proceeded to tell me that if it was hit by a rock, it was not covered. When i asked how that could happen he replied "the rock could bounce up from the road and hit the air conditioner". When i returned to pick up my car, the mechanic said a rock hit my air conditioner. I asked how a rock could bounce up from the road, passed the skid plate and hit the air conditioner so hard that it damaged it; he said "it happens". While he was explaining this to me, there was another customer there that also had a rock bounce up from the road and hit his air conditioner. Why doesn't kia just admit that they made faulty air conditioners and recall them. Now i'm out $190.64 and still don't have a working air conditioner. It will cost another $736.00 to get a new air conditioner.i've been a kia owner for over 12 years and when i buy a car next year, it most likely won't be a kia.

Headlights shine at a short angle down to the road with a distinct horizon line causing a very short visibility distance for night driving.the issue is not as bad in city driving where there is ambient light or street lights, but in the country, it is dangerous with hills, curves, and creatures of the night.driving with lights on high-beam helps, but interferes with visibility of on-coming drivers.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo.the contact stated that the stomp lamp switch malfunctioned and and as a result, none of the brake lights illuminated.in addition, the cruise control function would not disengage when activated and the esc off warning light illuminated remained illuminated.the dealer inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the stomp lamp switch malfunctioned and needed to be replaced.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.no repairs were performed.the current mileage was 65,200.the approximate failure mileage was 65,100.

My 2008 kia rondo 2.7 always hesitates after i fill the gas tank, and recently it cuts off while i am driving, when thisoccurs i lose my ability to steer the car.

I have a 2008 kia rondo, for the past few months i have been having issues when i get gas. It is the 2.7l engine and when i stop to get gas it won't start. I have to push the gas to get it to crank and then have to hold it down for approximately 2 minutes before it will stay cranked. If i do not keep the gas pressed down for that length of time it cuts off or hesitates then cuts off. I have inquired with the kia dealership about the recall for the 2.4l engines and was informed that my car did not qualify for that recall. However, my car is having the same issues as the ones that were recalled.

I own a 2008 kia rondo with a 2.7 liter 6 cyl engine.i have been having identical problems that the 2.4 liter 4 cyl has had that caused a fuel pump recall.it stalls because it can not get sufficient gas.it does not want to start after getting gas, and it is having a gas starvation issue.i have taken the car to a mechanic, who indicated it should have been recalled with the 4 cyl.i contacted kia and they are refusing to repair the issue as a recall.at one point the car stalled while i was driving and i almost wrecked.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed a sputtering noise and a hesitation while accelerating. The check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician stated that a coil would have to be replaced but the contact was not aware of the exact repair needed. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v459000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage) that could have been related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

2008 kia rondo. Consumer writes in regards to defective part *tgwthe consumer stated she had difficulty starting the vehicle after filling the gas tank and the check engine light was constantly on due to an issue with a defective valve on the charcoal canister.the consumer discovered a recall had been issued for the exact part, she was having a problem with. The consumer made an appointment with the dealer after describing the problem. However, when she arrived and her vehicle identification number was entered, she was then informed her vehicle was not included in the recall. The consumer referenced recall # 08v459000

After smelling a strong smell of gasoline in our garage, we took our kia rondo to firestone to have it checked out.they found that a seam on the gas tank had separated and there was rust in the area that they believed was caused by road salt applied to our roads during the winters we have had the car (st. Louis).we took the vehicle to kia and they have refused to cover the replacement of the gas tank, which is only 6 years old. This gas tank is metal and is defective and should be recalled on all 2008 kia rondos.

It takes 2 or 3 attempts to start my car after getting gas. Recently, after getting gas, the car stalled while i was driving on a busy main road going approx 40mph.today, the car stalled 2x while driving. Everything turned off, had to use the emergency brake to stop the car.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. After the vehicle was refueled, it hesitated to start and stalled at various speeds without warning. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The contact also indicated that the tire pressure monitoring system illuminated although the tire pressure was normal. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

My vehicle reves up high when i start it and when i'm on the highway it would just cut off and there's gas fumes i smellinside my kia, it also hesitates while driving.

In september 2011, check engine light came on.the vehicle would not restart after refueling.i would have to pump the gas before the car would restart and it would make a sound like it was trying to suck up gas through a straw that had a hole in it.i had a fuel injection flush and dye added but unable to detect what was causing the problem.this went on for several months.currently, the car does not turn over on the first attempt.it takes approximately 3 attempts for the car to start.this is in addition to the car not starting after refueling.i took car in for repair and was told that i needed to replace the fuel pump assembly.as i researched the recommended repair, i learned that kia recalled other 2008 rondo's, so i called them and was told that my vehicle is a 2.7 liter and not part of the recall campaign.i am having the same problem as the vehicles in the recall campaign and think that this matter should be further investigated.

Went to get rear tires put on my car and the mechanic noticed the fuel tank was leaking above the support on the drivers side. To replace the fuel tank is over 900 dollars, according to the dealer. I know this is a problem in the same area for rondos because a kia mechanic told me that he just had one in that had a leak in the same exact area. Have not had it fixed yet due to the expense, even though its a safety risk.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact mentioned that the check engine warning indicator had been illuminated for two days prior to the failure. The contact also stated that the fuel gauge decreased to approximately a quarter of a tank. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 79,000.

My rondo speeds up while i'm driving it on the road, and it smells of gas inside my rondo, it runs high when i start it and there's a hesitation before it drives.

The fuel pump is not operating properly resulting in not enough fuel getting to the engine. Poor engine starting and engine hesitation. The check engine light is on because of this.

Fuel pan rusted out. Valvoline would not service the car until the oil pan was replaced.

Smelled gas and looked under car and saw gas leaking from the gas tank area. Can not drive car due to gas leak and safety issue.

There is a smell of gas fumes periodically in the inside of my vehicle, i even smell it when my vehicle is parked and when i start my vehicle it hesitates to start and i have to restart it over.

In 2010, check engine light came on. The vehicle would not restart after refueling. I would have to pump the gas before the car would restart and it would make sounds and the rpm will rev. I had a diagnosis performed by several mechanics but unable to detect what was causing the problem. Had guesstimates as to o2 sensors, fuel pump to canisters replacement. This has gone on since 2010. Currently, the car does not turn over on the first attempt after fueling. I took car in to the dealership and was told that i needed to replace the fuel pump assembly. As i researched the recommended repair, i learned that kia recalled other 2008 rondo's, so i called them and was told that my vehicle is a v6 and not part of the recall campaign. I am having the same problem as the vehicles in the recall campaign and think that this matter should be further investigated.

Kia; there is a strong concern about the door latch release inside the doors that is made of plastic and i think could be changed to a pull system to open the doors, i have 2 of them that have not worked since last july 2012 and i had one that the child lock was on and you could not open the door from either side and if the person had to get out because of a fire or flooding you could not get out. I now have to roll down the window to open the door or reach through the front doors to open them. I think the heat is the problem when the sun bakes the car door and if some one tries to open the locked door it twists the release inside the door and this is a safety issue, this has happened to both of the rear passenger doors. They are still not fixed because i don't have a book on the vehicle because they don't sell them and can't afford to take it in.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo.the contact stated that both rear doors failed to open from the outside or inside. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that two new door latches must be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the problem.the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

The check engine light comes on and the engine timing/ computer being impactedinstance happen june 19, 2013 car failed nj inspection cost to repair $782.85.

I have 2008 kia rondo ex. It jerks when the transmission shifts from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. During the shift, the vehicles suddenly pulls back (feels like the brake was suddenly pushed) and then accelerates. This has been a concern for me as it may lead into accident, especially in the winter when roads are slippery. Sometimes everything seems well. The problem is intermittent with jerk effect low to high.i have already reported three times about it with the kia dealer but they said that they have not found any problem and insisted that nothing was wrong. I don't know what i can do to have them look at this issue seriously. They don't seem to want to do anything about it and i guess they won't do anything until a few people really get into trouble. That's why i wanted to report it here as a safety problem with kia ronda.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo lx. The transmission is stalling and grinding the gears. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately six times. This failure has occurred since there months ago which is when the vehicle was purchased. The kia manufacturer sent a letter to the dealer to replace the transmission and they refuse to replace it. The failure mileage was 150.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact stated the vehicle gear shift selector was unintentionally bumped and shifted into drive, causing the vehicle to roll away in the reverse position. The vehicle proceeded to crash into a nearby house. The vehicle engine was shut off at the time of the failure and the keys were not in the ignition. The police arrived to the scene and a police report was filed accordingly. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and was unable to duplicate the failure.the current and failure mileages were 21,000.

I was pulling into driveway when i started to back up to straighten myselfup so that i could pull straight up into the driveway.and when i took my foot off the pedal, the pedal was stuck causing me to accelerate at about 60mph. My car went over a tree stump resulting in me crashing into the neighbors house. While this was happening, the brakes would not properly work.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the brakes were applied and failed without warning. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. A police report was filed. There were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure and current mileage was 33,122.

I took vehicle in to private mechanic for wheel alignment. I was told that due to manufacturing quirk that one of the alignment adjustments to the wheels can not be accomplished. The dealer was unable to help either. I was told that a tire was improperly welded on upon manufacturing and a correct/appropriate alignment would not be possible.

Severe vibration and shaking felt in steering wheel and seat while driving at speed over 50 mph.dealership has balanced wheels, resurfaced rotors, worked on brakes, and is still unable to correct the problem.

Every time i went through a puddle, the parking brake/brake fluid light and the charging system warning light would come on. It also lost power steering while this happened. It lasted few moments. This happened with every puddle and even on the freeway when water splashed underneath!!

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving approximately 30 mph in the rain, the steering lost power without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and restarted after the water drained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the splash guards were not keeping the water off the belts. The mechanic further diagnosed that the splash guards needed to be replaced by the manufacturer. The local dealer was made aware of the failure and stated that nothing could be done. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 108,000.

I was driving my car..then all of a sudden it started raining..the steering went out the interior lights came on and the engine belt was making a awful noise! but what concerned me i could not control my car...i have look up the research of others complaining about the same problem

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. As you are driving the vehicle it is very hard to steer, the steering wheel locks up on you. This has happen at least four times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, the mechanic test drove the vehicle, and found no problem, and the failure could not be duplicated.she was advised to jerk the wheel to get it out of the lock position. The manufacturer has not been notified; i provided the number 800-333-4542 to her. The failure mileage was 39, 00 and the current mileage was 40,000.dwh

The car vibrates and makes loud noise when rolling down any of the rear windows. ,

My wife and i recently bought a brand new kia rondo with 18 miles on it.we paid cash for the vehicle in order to avoid expensive interest payments.while driving the car home for the first time my wife noticed that the windows make a whistling noise like the window is cracked open.any time the vehicle is driven over 30 mph the noise can be heard.the very next day my wife made an appointment to have it looked at.the dealership couldn't tell what was wrong with it so they opened a case with kia.after 3 months of going back and forth with the dealership and kia they told us that the noise wasn't a defect but part a characteristic of the model and that it is not a substantial impairment to the value, safety, or use.the brochure on the rondo claims that the rondo "is equipped with a range of structural and technological refinements that reduce cabin noise and road vibration to deliver a quiet ride."i can hear the wind noise over the radio.needless to say my wife and i are very upset.my wife hates the car that we bought for her to drive.we are concerned because they can't determine what is causing the noise.we also have two children under two and the recent link between autism and white noise makes us fearful of placing them in the car.

Takata recall-the airbags are not working for passenger. The electrical components do not work for the windows. And one more thing. The handles to open the doors are made of plastic and easily break, so you can no longer open the doors.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. The contact stated that the rear driver's door failed to open from inside or outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to kia duluth (1701 w michigan st #2, duluth, mn 55806), but was not diagnosed. In addition, the rear passenger door failed to open from inside or outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls for the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Both rear door handles part broke and had no way of getting in or out. It's the part inside the door.

I recently took vehicle in for wheel alignment. I was told that due to manufacturing quirk that one of the alignment adjustments to the rear wheels can not be accomplished. I took my 2008 kia rondo for the annual wv state inspection today. The service technician told me that i have a broken front passenger side coil spring. He said that this could be dangerous if the spring should pop out of it's normal position. He said that the end of the spring could rupture the tire and cause a bad accident. I didn't notice any handling or noises that alerted me to this condition, so i don't know when it might have broken.i do not see any kia recalls for this condition. The vehicle has 112,500 miles on it.

Takata recall - i purchased my 2008 kia rondo ex at white bear mitsubishi on nov. 20. 2018 . & drove it for two or three days . I was backing out og parking space & i heard a loud noise & a bang & my kia stopped on the spot . I got out to look what happened & my front drivers side tire was completely flat . A friend tried to blow it up with air thing & no luck . Some guys came out to help me try to change tbe tire & thats when he descovered that the coul snapped in two different places & went through my tire completely . So my kia has been parked ever since that day . I dont know what to do about this safety issue im having . Please help me out here.

Last week went in to get new tires and mechanic brought to me 2 large pieces of both my front coil springs. They had broken off but luckily not in a way that would puncture the tires. Both showed rust on the end of the springs which leads me to believe it was a failure of the metal. They will cost me $500.00+ to replace. This weekend hyundai, also made in south korea, announced a recall of their vehicles due to faulty front coil springs, especially in cold weather states, which we are. . i have tried to research whether kia used the same springs but cannot find that info online.

Part: sway barsi had been experiencing a clanking noise coming from under the car. I thought it was the spare tire loose. Had it checked it was tight. I thought it was the bar under the hood, the arm that holds the hood up. Checked it and it was properly clipped. I had the problem diagnosed by a private mechanic and i was informed that it was the sway bars. Private mechanic stated it is not a safety feature, but he recommended to fix as soon as possible. I had the sway bars replaced. I paid almost $200 to have them replaced due to the mechanic stated it was the roads i traveled that were causing damage to the suspension. Not even a year later i require sway bars to be replaced again. Is this really the roads that are so bad that sway bars are replaced yearly.

Coming back from wisconsin the left front coil spring busted and shredded the inside of the left front tire blowing it out traveling at 65 miles per hour. I had seen on the internet that hyundies and kia were noted for there defectiive front coil spring breaking and causing damage to tires and possibly wrecks. I called the kia dealership in quincy, illinois and he told me the parts were no longer under warranty and i would have to pay for parts and labor to fix my vehicle. This has already cost me $240.00 for 2 new front tires on my vehicle. I feel this is unfair due to the fact that possibly these front coil springs were of defective weak foreign material and should be investigated for the sake of peoples lives

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the driver side coil spring detached and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and the front passenger side coil spring was replaced. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

I own a 2008 kia rondo and found out there is no way to align the rear tires and my back end is so bad that the tires are tipping.i have contacted kia several times and have been told the engineers are working on a fix but it has been over two months.my tires are so worn out from the misalignment that the car sounds like a tank going down the street and when it rains it is hard to control the car.kia has offered to replace the tires but unless the underlining problem is fixed in a few months i will be back to square one.the car is unsafe to drive in its present condition but kia has done nothing to resolve the issue.please help and have this car recalled and have kia be held responsible for the manufacturing defective.

The contact owns a 2008 kia rondo. After the vehicle was refueled, it hesitated to start and stalled at various speeds without warning. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Today 9/15/2018 approx. 3pm i had the most frightening nerve wrecking experience with my kia rondo 2008.i was pulling into a parking space and my foot was on the brake slowing down going into the parking space all of a sudden my car accelerated jumped the median missing the car on my left and missing the car on my right knocked some shrubs before it barely missed hitting the tree.there was a thick branch stuck in the back wheel, driver side and damage to the front panel under the car.thanking god no one was walking by or moving cars.i called kia and have an appointment to get it there for the technician to inspect it.this is really really frightening and dangerous.i am scared to drive this car until it is fully checked.kia this is my life .

While driving in the rain, our kia rondo decides to act like it stalls out putting all the dash lights on and loosing control over the steering. Serpentine belt screeches and all comes back like nothing happened. This condition only happens in the rain. We replaced the serpentine belt and it was ok for a full year and now its back again. Local repair shop replaced the belt. Exactly one year later the local repair shop cannot reenact the problem. They literally doused the belt with water to test the steering loss.kia customer service cannot find any common issues with the vehicle. Very dangerous as the car does this right after hitting a small puddle.

I see the fuel pump has been recalled, i have had my car since the fall of 2009 and to my knowledge i haven't had this repaired, but for some reason this does not show up when i do the recall search. Has it already been repaired prior to my purchasing the vehicle?

I was driving on the freeway going 70mph when i heard a loud pop and out of no where my sunroof had flown off and took the sliding door with it. There was a car behind me but luckily far enough back to swerve out of the way just in time. I checked to see what may have caused it and i saw that, what i am assuming is the glue holding it on to the sunroof mechanism, was somewhat rusted. I don't know a lot about cars but i know that after only 8 years and mild use, a sunroof should not fly off with no cause. It ripped off cleanly and left no shards

I was pulling into driveway when i started to back up to straighten myselfup so that i could pull straight up into the driveway.and when i took my foot off the pedal, the pedal was stuck causing me to accelerate at about 60mph. My car went over a tree stump resulting in me crashing into the neighbors house. While this was happening, the brakes would not properly work.

My rondo speeds up while i'm driving it on the road, and it smells of gas inside my rondo, it runs high when i start it and there's a hesitation before it drives.

There were things leading up to the incident that i was not aware of as a problem as the esc light would go on, but then it would turn off and i was always told that i don't have a problem with anything unless the light goes on and stays on, so i never had it checked.the other night as i was driving down the road i had my 2008 kia rondo in cruise control.when i needed to break, the car slowed down a little, but the automatic cruise control continued to accelerate my car.the practice of applying the break did not turn off the cruise control and i continued to accelerate.only when i hit the cancel button on the column did the cruise control turn off.when i got to the location i needed to go to i could only get the car to go from drive into neutral.it would not go back into park and let me take the keys out of the car.when i went back home this stopped and everything went back to normal.upon calling the dealership with what was going on, they asked if i ever had the break switch replaced.i said no.they said it sounded like that was what it was, but if it were under recall, i would have gotten a notice.they said they would take care of it anyway.i looked and saw that the 2007 rondo had a recall with the exact same thing my car has been experiencing.when i got to the dealership i was told that because i now had 69,000 miles on my car, that they would have to charge me to replace the switch.but, had i gone in before 60,000 they are just replacing them automatically in all rondo vehicles.it feels to me that they are trying to get around another recall, but trying to make money on those of us who drive long distances at work and are now having problems.

Driving car on freeway and a loud noise came from the left wheel. Slow down noise lower but not has stop. Repair man says i need wheel bearings. I wonder if there were a recall for the wheel bearings that i don't know about . Has there be an a tech service bulletin issued on this type of problem?i was also told my brakes wear unevenly so a get a shaking in the steering wheel.
