The 'airbag' dash light illuminates and the dealership has determined the cause of the failure is the sensor assembly located in the front passenger's seat cushion.this problem was addressed by a 'voluntary safety recall campaign' conducted by kia affecting "2006-2008 my rio occupant classification system mat" but according to the local dealership my kia rio manufactured in april 2007 was not included in this recall even though the problem/diagnosis/fix is identical.

My vehicle's air bag sensor has been on and the kia manufacturer claims itnot to be a recall since my warranty has expired this past november 2012.now my car temperature gauge goes from cold -0- to half on the gauge. It starts to shake and shuts down in the middle of me driving. Almost caused me to have 2 accidents. I had it taken to take it to get a diagnostic test and this was in part of a recall that the manufacturer claims is not their problem.

The dashboard airbag light came on approximately 1 year ago, and when i contacted the kia dealership where i purchased the vehicle they advised me that they would have to charge me to search for the cause of the problem...i heard of a recall on the kia rio airbags on nhtsa and i called kia to ask to bring my vehicle in so the problem could be fixed and the service department told me that they are unaware of any such problems with that vehicle and would not allow me to bring the vehicle in unless i paid to have it looked at!!!

Fell asleep driving 2007 kia rio on the interstate to army reserve training (traveling 65 mph). Car hit - head on - the upcoming end of a guard rail which drove the radiator back into the engine. Neither fender got damaged. Had seat belt on and hit head on steering wheel; cut head; concussion; dislocated part of hand. The airbag did not deploy. Unconscious for over an hour. The highway patrol was concerned that the airbag did not deploy but the guy rebuilding the car (3 hours from us; $7000 worth of damage) says it didn't necessarily need to deploy because there are only 2 censors and both censors must trigger to deploy. However local mechanic says there are 4 censors and any one of them will deploy the airbag. Have bumper to bumper warranty on the car from the dealer where bought it used.

I just recent had the battery put in my car. An now the air bag light stays on for the driver on that dash board. An don't know why it's on. The car has beendrivenin the past few months. So we are scared to be out on the road an it doesn't protect us if we get into an accident an someone gets killed.

2007 kia rio has an airbag light on all the time, with a code specifying the passenger seat mat sensor. When clearing the code for the airbag, the code is rethrown after about 10 seconds. Nhtsa recall #12v244000 applied to certain models of the 2005-2007 model era, but didn't include all of them, as the vehicle has no open seat mat recall and none had been repaired in the past. Evidently the issue is more widespread than the initial recall. The light stays on all the time.

Left front driver's door inside latch release handle suddenly failed to release the door latch, the door was unlocked at the time.this occurred at 0445 hours on 30 oct 2009 with approximately 62,200 miles on the odometer.a new part has been ordered for replacement of the broken part on the same day, the old part will be available.

My rear passenger door will not open, even with force. I noticed this about a month ago when i attempted to open it to put in packages. Prior to that i do not know how long the problem of the stuck door existed since i am a single person and rarely use it. I brought it to phil smith kia, they said it needs a component for the locking mechanism, it would cost me around $300. I said i would get in touch with the nhtsas(you) they told me to call kia-which i did, talked to justine(ext-45161), she said they would pay for parts if i would pay for labor. I feel that is not good enough, i never use the passenger rear door, its a defect and the rest of the door locks might also become defective. Then i did a search and this seems to be a common problem with kia rios. What happens if the lock jams when there is a crash, etc. If the lock fails to unlock, it might also fail to lock or come unlocked while driving. I would like kia to replace the existing rear door lock free of charge and to examine the rest of the locks on my car.

As i was backing out of my driveway, 6 months after i purchased my brand new 2007 kia rio, i heard a loud noise and felt my car lurch simultaneously, as if i had been hit by a car. When i tried to resume backing up my car had popped out of reverse. Although it doesn't happen frequently, it does happen i have had people in the car when it happens. When i took it to the dealership, i was told they "couldn't duplicate it".

The tpms light has been illuminated since i've bought the car in may 2011. I took my car to the dealer today (9/15/11) because i found the recall for other 2007 rio's and he said it doesn't relate to my car. Well it does because i have it illuminated. Also the weather strips on the windows allows wind to come in and makes a loud whistle noise. That was also recalled on other 2007 rio's. I found the recalls on autozone.com and put in my information.

Electrical issues, constantly broken air conditioner, engine problems, spark plug issues, coil issues, 3 batteries in 2 years, loss of power in the middle of the freeway.
