My driver side axle is clicking and pop when i turn and there is no way that has been taken care of and it clearly states on this site that all are recalls on the model is there anyway the recalls an be done now i bought this call at 2018 preowned with 38000 or more miles on it it now has 82000 miles on it and if a recall has not ended done why can't they do them now and i don't feel these vehicle is safe for me to be in and i'm disabled!!! i wanted to see if you all can help with these issues with the engine as well!!!all recalls on this model

I was going west on 210 in redlands, california approximately at 6:15 p.m. When i was rear ended by a 2015 toyota camry. His right front fender ran into my left back fender causing me to spend and settle on the left shoulder of the freeway. The side driver air bag deployed the steering wheel airbag did not. My car was totaled.

A car accident took place early sunday morning of september 25, 2016 in which the air bag failed to deploy resulting in severe injuries. Kia was contacted and informed that a accident had taken place in a new vehicle that was purchased, and the airbag did not deploy, although it had passed the inspection at the dealership and should have been under warranty since the vehicle was purchased a few months prior. Kia failed to correct the issue, although indicating they would send an inspector out to check the vehicle. Later it was indicated the vehicle had 2 recalls associated with it (#1. 16v7050000 and #2. 16v231000), however, kia failed to honor the recalls or take responsibility for failing to properly inform of the defects. Numerous attempts were made to reach someone at kia to resolve the matter, but each time a different representative indicated mr. Gustavio valila was the person handling the matter and would respond in a timely manner. Voice mails were left unreturned and emails were sent, however, mr. Valila could not be reached. A year later a representative responded indicating that the air bag was not meant to deploy and that the company was sorry for the circumstance and situation. The company did not acknowledge or respond to the previous recalls that were not honored, nor did the company correct or resolve the concerns or make an effort to assist or provide a remedy for the injuries sustained due to the failure of the airbag not deploying. Due to the accident and injuries sustained during the accident the driver died a week later. Kia was informed of everything, along with receiving photos and paperwork associated with the incident (that a representative from the company requested), and has still chosen to accept no responsibility for the situation or do anything to resolve the previous matter / concerns...
I was involve in a bad accident with 10k in front end damage and my air bags did not deploy and half of the air bag sensor came apart in the damage

The contact stated that there were multiple injuries sustained between the driver and passenger, which required medical attention. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact not to let anyone view the vehicle because an investigator would be sent to perform an inspection. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
I was involved un a rear end collision. I was struck from behind while stopped @ a traffic light. Severe damage to the rear end of the car. No air bags deployed from the impact. I ended up hitting my head very hard on the steering wheel. No air bags deployed @ all from the collision.

Was hit head on by a sliding vehicle with bald tires. Air bags did not deploy and seat belts did not hold us in place.we were doing about 15 mi.per hour or less on a mt pass because of weather conditions theother vehicle was doing about 45 mi. Perhour or more when hit us. Highway patrol investigated accident.
As i began crossing the intersection (highway) i ended up getting t- boned halfway through the intersection by a pickup. He was speeding going roughly 60mph in a 45mph zonemy kia optima sustained passenger side/ and frontal impact damage. The impact of the accident sent me skidding across the highway and none of my frontal airbags activated nor did the seatbelt lock up. This lead me to sustain heavy chest injuries from the impact of the steering wheel. Also the car could not be shut off after the accident. The vehicle stayed running until emt disconnected the power to it.
Sometimes when i start the car it only runs at about 500rpm and the digital speedometer starts going up in numbers when i'm in parkand i have no power steering. I can put the car in drive and park or open the door and it starts acting normal. It also acts like it's going to shut off when i come to a stop. I am aware that the rpms drop when you stop almost like a gas saver but with in the last 20 thousand miles it has gotten really rough. It burns oil like crazy the dealership is aware of this but can't do anything with the engine tell it throws a code and they can't duplicate any of my other issues, the front end has made awful noises for the last 50 thousand miles or so and has had the front suspension replaced but that didn't fix the issue. Iv has the knock sensor replaced but i'm convinced it was just a gimmick so the car won't throw codes anymore because it should be with the issues i'm having. Like when the electronic steering goes out i get no dash light. I wish kia would own up to their issues
Letter from congressman earl l buddy carter on behalf of constituent, regarding issues with a kia purchased in savannah, georgia. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle has experienced various issues including the battery being replaced 5 times in 8 months, multiple engine issues, electrical issues and a lack of acceleration. The consumer also stated, while driving with the cruise control activated, the vehicle would speed up to catch up to the designated speed and come in to close contact with the vehicle ahead. The failure is intermittent.
The drivers side running light went out one day and my car alerted that it was out. I changed the bulb and that did not fix the problem. The fuse appeared ok, however i replaced it just to be sure. There was still no change. Checked the power to the headlight assembly and i have power all the way up until it enters the headlight assembly and then there is no power to the running light only. The entire headlight assembly had to be replaced for a whopping $360.
I'll start with the windows. Prior to covid my right rear passenger window motor and regulator went out. Citrus kia fixed it. Right after covid was announced my front right passenger window went out and i couldnt get my car in. 2 weeks later my front left driver window went out. When i finally got my car in they told me i was 200 miles over on my warranty to fix it. I havent had the use of either of my front windows for months. They dropped randomly going down the road. If i dont leave something wedged in the window they drop so far i have to use duct tape to adhere to it and pull up enough to grab it. Its definitely a safety issue that i cannot use my windows. And i dont know what is going on with the drive train , axle and suspension but i am eating through brand new tires every couple months. The dealership blamed it on me and seriously asked me if i was jumping curbs. I have had so many issues with this car since the motor got replaced. Not to mention my heat doesnt work unless its in defrost mode. The dealership knows about all these ongoing issues. Karen is my service advisor. I even tried to trade my car in with them and they turned it down. This car is falling apart and i am only one month away from having it for 4 years. I am the only owner it has had
It began when we would try to start the car it seemed to have battery issues and have trouble starting, and finally the battery did drain but isn't holding charge but took it in to get checked and battery is fine. The headlights will randomly shut off while driving at night like if the sensor were in the day time. Now the engine light has came on while driving it and when you hit the gas it jerks the car after 20 mph. This happens on and off where it will be fine then suddenly start doing it all over again everything also happens in different occasions.
The headlights will randomly turn themselves on and off in day and night time. This only happens in the 'auto' option for the headlights. I have seen numerous other reports on this on here. In addition to that the car doesn't respond to the key fob most of the time even with brand new battery in the fob. Step dad has the same car with same issues with the key fob.

The contact also mentioned that when turning left or right, a clicking noise was detected. The driver door lock does not work. It is the only door that will not lock sometimes. Other times it is the only door that will not unlock. The cruise control does not always want to work. It will say cruise but will not let me set it.

Purchased a 2016 kia optima ex with the premium package with less than 30 odometer miles in april 2017 from a kia dealer (vin [xxx]).at 4200 miles the car stalled and lost all power while traveling on the highway during rush hour. Screen flashed "engine control system - possible engine condition. "took vehicle to the kia dealer on 07/08/2017 who indicated the throttle position sensor needed adjusting and cleaning. About 3 weeks ago my headlight auto dash notification would flash on and off for probably 8 times. It was day time so i didn't think anything of it. Last week i was driving in the dark and my head lights turned off completely. I was able to get them back on. I started doing research and other people have had the same issue stating that it is the multifunction switch. Again this morning driving in the dark they turned off completely again. This is dangerous for not just the driver and passengers of the car but also other drivers if you can not be seen. This needs to be recalled and needs to be fixed sooner than later. Please help.
In june 2020 after ordering food at a fast food drive through my driver side window would roll back up. I didn't think much thought maybe the window was off track. About a week or so later while driving on a local street in my town my driver side back passenger window slid down i began hearing and feeling wind come through the window i called my dad who lives in miami he told me to put a flat head screwdriver down in the window to keep the window from sliding down and possible breaking and to call the dealership. I called the kia dealership i was told to make an appointment to have the windows looked at. (which i did) a couple days later while picking my daughter up from work i was backed into a parking spot. I rolled the back passenger side window down to let her know i was there since she was more to the back side of the car then the front and all behold the window would not go back up. I called kia 1st thing the next morning and was told my car had a recall for the electrical but they could not do anything about my windows unless i paid out of pocket because the recall did not cover the windows. I'm upset because i do not have money to fix 3 windows had i not had that electrical problem my windows would still be working.
My rear driver's side window started falling down all of a sudden. I had to replace the regulator and the motor. Now, just a few months later, the passenger rear window is doing the same thing. This seems like a defect. I never had to replace a window motor in my 1997 toyota 4runner that i just traded in in july of 2018.
On the evening of may 17, i needed a jump after work. I went home, turned off my car but was unable to start it again so i replaced the battery. I thought i had fixed the problem until the next day when i was driving 65mph on a local interstate with my daughter in the car, all my dash lights came on, i lost navigation & radio and my power steering locked up. I went to turn on my hazards and those did not work either. I checked my mirrors to make sure no one was going to hit me and i was able to get off the highway and pull onto the shoulder. I was extremely fearful as i had minimal steering capability & was unable to notify other motorists of my disabled vehicle as my hazard lights were not functioning. I was able to get it towed to a dealership where i was told i needed a new alternator for my 3 year old car. While my mileage was at 66,500 miles, i definitely had not anticipated need to replace that part of a while. Despite that, i was more upset that i lost function of my car and was not able to warn other cars with working hazard lights.
My car stalled while waiting at a stoplight. When going to accelerate i was unable to. However, i looked at the current recalls for my car. The year, model, manufcature date meet the criteria for the axel recall. But my vin # doesn't show any existing recalls.
Fourth window regulator to stop working in the past year. The window rolled down and would not roll up.
Vehicle was stationary, stopped, in the west conshohocken municipal community building parking lot, 112 front street, west conshohocken, pa. The car was in park with emergency brake engaged. I went to turn the car off and when i pressed the ignition button, a loud explosion sound came from under the hood and then a loud jack hammer sound started. Car shot backwards in reverse and all the lights on the dashboard were flashing and a bell ringing. I pumped the brakes to stop the car and it would not stop. In had just been turned off, and was already in park and emergency brake on. Car went on out of nowhere, and went in reverse the length of approximately 25 cars and crashed into a parked car.police were called to the scene. They reported the accident and it is under investigation. Murray kia was where the car was towed. They could not replicate the problem and told me it was an insurance problem. Not true!! my passenger and i were lucky not to have rolled into the street and oncoming traffic, and could been killed or seriously injured, or injured others. Thank god the parked car was there and only then did the car crash into it, and stop.
3rd window motor that has failed in just a few months! first my back two window motors and housings needed to be replaced and now my front driver side window is down and will not roll up. On the way to work this morning it stopped working and now my car is sitting outside at work unsecured. Kia contacted me regarding my last complaint and is working to see if i can be reimbursed for the second window.i am waiting for a response now to my email and call this morning regarding this third window.

Three of the window regulators failed at the same time and the forth two weeks later.i had them repaired for a almost $ 2000 since the the vehicle has 62k miles and the warranty was good till 60k miles.
My optima seems to hesitate or studder when accelerating from a stop. It reminds me of a gear slipping but my car only has 11,145 mi on it so there's no way that's possible. This has been an ongoing observation for months now. I've also had one of my mirrors not go back to normal position after i moved the car from r and began to drive. I had to pull over, place the car back in r, and flip back to d for the mirror to go back to place. Lastly i've noticed my driver seat seat warmer button isn't lighting up like it used to. When on high, only 2 lights are on. I recorded a video of it vs how the passenger seat works but i don't think i can upload it. I've at least taken photos of it in each level. This has been for about 2 weeks now. Mileage listed on report is what i'm currently at but the studdering has been since 3,000mi or so
My oil pressure light continues to turn on and off even after replaced parts! burning at least 2 quarts of oil per week! brake lights stop working if headlights are on! had to start using super to eliminate a rattle while accelerating uphill! engine shakes!!
2016 kia optima has an issue with the vehicle headlights.they are turning off by themselves while driving. Today was a close one for me, it was 9:10pm and i was going about 50mph and all the sudden my lights went out andi had to break rapidly, i couldn't see anything in front of me. This has been an ongoing issue with this car, and it seems to be a common issue for other owners. I asked my local dealership about fixing the headlights, they told me it was going to cost $400 and they are aware of this being a defective issue with other owners.i am not going to pay for something that is a manufacturer defect. Please take a look at this issue, every efforts should be made to make this a national recall issue.
In august 2018 i noticed that the camera on the front grille of my 2016 kia optima was producing a blurry image.it did not do this the night prior when i used the camera to park in my garage (where i did not hit or bump anything, i was not even near the wall at the front of the garage).the lens had a crack.some context: this happened before in 2017 and the kia dealership in mcdonough, ga repaired it as a warrant item.i took the car to the dealership, where the service representative named jose camacho said they they would cover it as a warrant time and that i would not have to pay for it.they just needed to order the part and would call me when it arrived.i never received a call, so when i called the dealership in september 2018 i was told that the claim was denied as a normal wear and tear problem and that they should never have replaced it the first time.i was told that if i wanted to disputed it, i would need to call kia consumer affairs.kia consumer affairs told me that they would check with the dealership and after a few weeks, i called them back and they said the dealership wanted my to come back.i called the dealership and they asked for me to bring the car in so they could take pictures.while i was there i ask what the odds where that the camera lens would crack twice with no visible damage to the camera unit, the grille or the bumper, the service manager justin, told me it wasn't likely.i notified them that there was a 3 page forum on the internet where other kia optima owners have reported the same problem, in fact, if you do a simple google search for kia optima cracked lens, it is the first search result.i asked why this is not a recall item, and they shrugged there shoulders and said they didn't know why.they then said they would submit the pictures and i would get a call back from kia consumer affairs.it was denied, no reason.
When. I'm driving the car shuts off but comes right back on and sometimes the radio just shuts off and comes back on plus all the lights inside goes off.
My headlights have gone out 3 times in the last four months. I've never encountered this type of problem with any other vehicle. This car is s 2016 kia optimaand had left me without headlights .i notice others have complained about the same exact problem. This safety issue needs to be investigated . My 2016 kia optima bursted into flames while stationary in front of my home.
The contact owns a 2016 kia optima. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the driver's and passenger's side rear windows started to roll down independently. The contact was unable to roll the windows back up. The vehicle was taken to local dealer rick case kia located 14500 w. Sunrise blvd, sunrise, fl 33323, (954) 715-7580, where it was diagnosed with needing the window regulators to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired but continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 37,222.
The cluster started blinking out while driving then eventually goes out completely. At the start of the problem it would go out at times then pop back on for about two weeks.
Three out of four windows have stopped working. It started with the rear passenger window about 6 months ago, then the rear driver 3 months ago, and now the front passenger about a month ago. Did some research to find it's a pretty common problem on kia's for the regulators to break. I didn't have the money at the time to fix the first one, was saving up and then second one stopped working. Definitely didn't have money for two, when third quit. Now just waiting for the last one to keel over. I don't know the exact problem, but i don't have money to fix all four windows at one time on a car that's only four years old.
I've been having car problems with my car for a over a year,the steering wheel get stuck, my brakes wasn't working good, so i got new breaks, however my car still doesn't make a quick complete stop, i'm also having electrical problems, my headlights bulb have to be changed once a week, i also have to changed my oil every well, today my car is at the dealership waiting on a engine, it's been there for over three months.
The wiring in this vehicle is soy-based and is attractive to rodents.i have experienced rodent damage twice now totaling about $3000 in damages.i have contacted kia and they suggested making a claim on insurance.the first time damage occurred was in 11/2019 we made a claim on insurance.this time we will pay out of pocket because of the fear insurance might drop us for making continued claims.this seems to be a known fact about the soy-based wiring, yet kia is not willing to assist.
All 4 of my windows will not go up or down. This happened within weeks of each other. There is no cheap solution. Kia wants $150 deposit and i was quoted $225 per window.this is insane. I am driving a car where the windows are all wedged up which is a safety hazard.i am not the only one with this problem. Are there any recalls for this?

I was driving on the highway when my jerked twice, check engine light started blinking, and i could not accelerate. I was able to get off the highway safely, my car was towed to a kia dealership nearby and i was told it could take 3-4 days before my car is looked at.this problem has happened twice while i was on the highway. It happened on october 3rd, my car was towed to a kia dealership and i was told the knocking sensor went out. The issue was supposedly fixed and i picked my car up on october 8th.
The car stumbles to start and when i accelerate it flutters until picking up speed. This happened on highway 43.
While driving the car the fuel consumption in the motor would bog the engine down to where it would barely go over 40 mph on the highway. At this time the engine trouble indicator light would come on and not go off. I immediately took it to the local kia dealership in mt. Hope, wv.. The mechanic changed out the sensor that showed up on his meter and the engine seemed to do good while in the shop but when they backed it out of the shop bay, another sensor lighr came on. We had already paid the dealership $206, they would not return our money
While in motion the headlights turn on by themselves at random times during the day. Abs warning light, bsd warning light, and traction control warning light all came on at the same time.on the way to the dealership they all went off. The technician said he sees that the warning light were on, but their computer is not detecting a problem. If it happens again bring it back. Well, they're on again. The car has been stationary since friday afternoon, sunday evening my son sends me a pic of my car, the lights are on!
Intermittently car will shudder (jerk forward and slow, jerk forward and slow) many times when accelerating, either from a stop or while accelerating from low speeds (less than 45mph) it seems possible gear changing is not smooth. And can be dangerous when attempting to merge into traffic as car does not accelerate as it should. Have taken the car to kia who report that nothing was wrong with car when they test drove it. Problem seems worse when it is hot or cold outside.
My airbag light was flashing now it stays on permanently. Got an inspection and failed because of the airbag light. They can not get the specifics of why the light is on
On march 21, 2019, i brought my car in to the kia dealership because my own personal mechanic said that the engine was burning too much oil. Kia dealership did an oil test and said that they need to fix my engine due to a recall. It has been over 2 months and i still have not receive my car yet. Made multiple calls to the kia dealership and kia corporate and nothing was resolved.

The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to respond. After, each oil change; 400-500 miles later; the oil dipstick show the oil is at, the low mark on the dipstick.i took the vehicle into the kia dealership; where they performed an oil compression test. On, 05-028-2021. We were told to drive the vehicle for a thousand miles; and, return it back to the dealership to complete the oil compression test.the dealership claimed i need a new engine. Because, there's a problem with the barring in the engine. I was told a new engine would cost $8,000 to replace. Since; there's no extended warranty. We have mantain regular oil changes between 2-3 weeks. Or, every 300-400 miles. The vehicle was purchased at about,54000 miles. And, now has 71000 miles. To our knowledge; there are other kia vehicles under recall; which, shared the same problem; and, is deem unsafe. Because of,a defect in the engine's design cause, metal shavings to build up and, circulate through the engine, causing; a blown engine. And, a potential safety issue.

Motor mounts bad at 71862 miles. Told by kia it is not covered under warranty. Car clunks very badly and shakes. Was told it can still be driven. 2/3 motor mounts i was told were bad. Does not make sense that they could already be bad at that mileage. Do not feel safe driving car the way it is. Shakes while driving, clunks while taking off on road.

Since i had the car in aug2016 brand new when i give it gas the valves ping and peak extremely bad not matter what fuel i use also the ac keeps loosing power it will blow fine then it almost goes off while still driving the same speed. I started having problems with the oil disappearing not long after i got the new car kia optima year about february 2017 i keep pouring everyday more and more oil as i drive but it disappears.on or about august 28,2020, i received an email for a kia engine class action settlement federal court that advises suffer from a defect that can cause engine seizure, stalling engine failure and fire etc. And that the engine can be dangerous kia have been found liable for these claims. They said they gave me extra warranty but if it catches on fire or explodes then they would not help me and by then it is too late!!i told them that i am scared since i am a girl and keep adding oil and you never know what the engine machine malfunction can do. I could check the oil before going some where but you never know when the oil will all of a sudden disappear completely it is unpredictable.i have called kia manufacture phone at 1-855-951-0807and they are giving me the round around i am afraid to drive the car that one day it may do something and catch on fire. On 1/12/2020, i was driving my car 2016 kia optima from alpharetta to decatur to attend church. I pulled into the parking lot of the church and parked. A few seconds after i parked, i began seeing lots of smoke coming from the right passenger side of the car. The police men who were in the parking lot directing traffic asked me to get out of the car quickly and began attempting to quench the fire with a fire extinguisher. Shortly after, the dekalb fire dept arrived and fought to put out and contain the fire. It was then towed to the tow yard. I contacted my insurance company right away and after a few days of investigation, unfortunately, my car was deemed a total loss. Next day, i checked my vin # to see if there are any recalls by kia that i was not aware of, but the results came back saying 'no records' and '0 recalls found'. On 1/15/2020 at approximately 12.50pm, i contacted kia corporate and filed a complaint and i was informed when i gave my statement over the phone that there was an ' open campaign pi 1802 ecu upgrade' and as advised by the kia customer service rep that he will be forwarding my complaint to a the national dept and they will get back to me. A kia rep ashley contacted me and advised kia engineers will like to investigate what happened. After 3 weeks of waiting, the rep contacted me stating they will like to pay off remaining bal on my car, and personal items. They will not help me with getting another car and i declined because i lost everything and incurred a greater damage. Then the kia rep wrote me stating that they ill no longer pursue investigating since i refused accepting $1001 my left over balance owed to the lender. I am very disappointed on how kia has treated me leaving me hanging after such a great loss. I am seeking legal actions since kia has refused to come to a suitable resolution.
While in drive, randomly at a complete stop, the engine will die. I will have to put the car into park, turn the key completely off, and then try to turn the car back on. This can take several attempts to finally get the car started. Only the engine dies, the radio, lights, etc stay on without any interruption. This has happened at stop lights, stop signs, in a car pool line, all while not moving.

Check engine light is blinking, there is a noticeable decrease in power, and it jerks out of first gear. Took it to autozone for a free diagnostic which was p1326. All fluid are in order. Milage is 123,000. This happened when i was driving he fr work.
My 2016 kia was consuming 1 quart of oil every 500 miles in 2021. Called kia dealer about oil consumption issue and they started 3-1000 mile oil consumption tests on 4/6/21 (miles 92,053). On the 1st 1000 mile test, 2 qts of oil were consumed. 2nd 1000 mile test 1.2 qts of oil were consumed. 3rd 1000 mile test 1.5 qts of oil were consumed. All results were reported to kia. The 3rd oil consumption test was completed on 5/27/21 (miles 95,065) and i went home and checked the oil level on the dipstick, which was filled correctly to the full mark. On 5/28/21 the service mgr called to schedule an engine compression test on 6/8/21. On the morning of 6/8/21, i checked the engine oil and it was more than a qt low (miles 95,510) with only 445 miles since the oil was topped off. Delivered car to kia for the engine compression test on 6/8/21, told service mgr of the 1 qt oil consumption in 445 miles, and heinformed me that if the compression test is good, kia will direct an engine cleaning procedure per kia tsb 222. When tsb 222 was completed, they stated another 1000 mile oil consumption test had to be completed. On 6/9/21 i returned to the kia dealer to pick up my car. Requested to check the engine oil level with the mechanic since this was the start of the 1000 mile test. The car was returned to the service floor, time was allowed for oil draindown, and the mechanic pulled the dipstick which indicated the oil was overfilled by approx 1/3 quart. Took a picture of the dipstick level. The service manager was told of the situation. No action was taken. They sealed the dipstick and i departed. Printed tsb 222 from nhtsa website. On 6/24/21 returned for 1000 mile check. I witnessed (took picture) mechanic check the oil and he said it was less than a qt. I showed service mgr the overfill picture. He change the consumption to 1 qt. Spoke with kia mgr. He said another 1000 mile check was to be performed. Since tsb 222 states oil is to be filled to full mark, their test is invalid.

Vehicle consumes oil at high rate. Approximately 5 qts per 3000 miles driven sometimes more often. After new oil is added, acceleration will delay at times, usually when starting from a complete stop. When the vehicle begins moving forward a cloud of bluish/white exhaust will be created. The clouds of exhaust occurs more often just after an oil change or oil is added. Will continue for the first 1000 miles then will become less frequent as more oil is consumed and the amount remaining in the oil pan is lessened. Has occurred since i purchased the car.

I am starting to experience engine trouble with my 2016 kia optima. I purchased the vehicle new with 0 miles. My issue stated on friday evening, september 27th when the check engine light came on. Immediately, i took the vehicle to the dealership saturday morning, september 28th. The tech person at kia country of savannah hook the computer device to find the issue. He stated it was due to air flow sensor. I advised him i would be traveling to port canaveral, fl in the early morning for a cruise. He said the vehicle would be fine and i would lose a mile or two on fuel economy. Wth! he disengaged the engine warning signal then says "if it come back on, you will be okay." well, the next morning, i drove my car to orlando for an overnight stay then on to port canaveral the following monday. Of course, i drove around orlando area. The check engine come on, again, then went off on its own. Here is where things really went downhill. I made it back to savannah during a bad thunderstorm. The car started to stutter like it was about to shut off. I managed to get the car home and parked it until monday morning. Upon driving to the dealership, i lost all acceleration power and coast for about an half mile to the service center.by this time, i am about to explode with anger. My car has been in the shop since monday morning, i am driving a rental car paid by the dealership. Finally, yesterday, i was told the issue was the wiring harness that was covered by a recall. I brought the car in them months ago about some knocking noises that i heard. Only to be told, i was hearing things. After reading reviews, i am concerned that issue is going to grow into a major one. The car has only 36,000 miles.

Shutter/hesitation upon take off. I signed my lease on 9/29 and was at the service dept first of 7 times on 10/4. At first i was told the car had to "learn the way i drive" that there were no issues with my car. Since then the dealer has "reset" the transmission, changed fuel injectors, replaced transmission, and now has done 'several updates' (seriously?)this car has nearly caused accidents on numerous occasions. When i asked the tech if he would drive his family in this car i got no response. I have asked on the last 2 trips to the dealer for them to simply replace my car. I am currently consulting a lawyer.
Sometimes when i start the car it only runs at about 500rpm and the digital speedometer starts going up in numbers when i'm in parkand i have no power steering. I can put the car in drive and park or open the door and it starts acting normal. It also acts like it's going to shut off when i come to a stop. I am aware that the rpms drop when you stop almost like a gas saver but with in the last 20 thousand miles it has gotten really rough. It burns oil like crazy the dealership is aware of this but can't do anything with the engine tell it throws a code and they can't duplicate any of my other issues, the front end has made awful noises for the last 50 thousand miles or so and has had the front suspension replaced but that didn't fix the issue. Iv has the knock sensor replaced but i'm convinced it was just a gimmick so the car won't throw codes anymore because it should be with the issues i'm having. Like when the electronic steering goes out i get no dash light. I wish kia would own up to their issues

Intermittently car will shudder (jerk forward and slow, jerk forward and slow) many times when accelerating, either from a stop or while accelerating from low speeds (less than 45mph) it seems possible gear changing is not smooth. And can be dangerous when attempting to merge into traffic as car does not accelerate as it should. Have taken the car to kia who report that nothing was wrong with car when they test drove it. Problem seems worse when it is hot or cold outside.

Takata recall car starts to stall and idle when on the road and in traffic. Car starts to back up and reverse without notice or warning. Engine, battery comes on automatically and i have to turn off ignition and restart vehicle.
Car stalled for no reason while sitting idle at an intersection.it was towed to the kia dealership in san diego. The first day, the dealership claimed it found nothing wrong and there were no error codes.the next day, it claimed to find a hole in the oil pan.it refused to start the car again until we paid $500 to fix it.there was no oil in its parking space or the place where that it stalled.we took it to another mechanic who found the hole.he said there was more than sufficient oil to turn it over, and if the hole has been there long, all of the oil would have leaked out.we suspect the dealer did this intentionally to create an excuse to avoid paying for a new engine if it turned out to have metal shavings and catastrophic failure like so many other optimas.

Mid september, 2020, i began to notice that my headlights would turn off as i was driving. They would cut off for no more than 15 seconds and turn back on. I didn't think anything of it, until i started having issues with other components of my 2016 kia optima. On 11/30/2020 i was driving at 30mph through a residential area. As i was approaching a stop sign, my engine light came on. When i tried to accelerate, the car began to jump and hesitate. No matter how far down i pushed the gas, the care was jumping/shaking and wold not accelerate over 20mph. I pulled into an autozone where they ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle. Error code p1326 (knock sensor) came up. The next morning, i called coastal kia of wilmington in north carolina and explained to them what had happened. They sent an employee to pick up my vehicle (12/01/2020). They inspected my vehicle and informed me that the protocol was to perform a bearing clearance test and ecu upgrade. I picked up my car on 12/02/2020. A week later, i called the dealership again and informed them that although my engine light had not come back on, the acceleration issue was still occurring. I asked if they would look at the car again, to which they said no, that they cannot take a further look at it until the engine light came back on. On 12/20/2020 i was driving 40mph when my car began to stutter uncontrollably. The following morning i called kia again to inform them what had happened, and they agreed to take a look at it. On 12/22/2020 they called me and said that my car was burning oil and smoking excessively. They opened a tech case with kia and informed me that they could not do anything to the car until they heard back from them. On 12/23/2020 they called me again to tell me that the issue was not covered under a recall, and that my next step would be to replace my engine.
My 2016 kia optima is using a quart of oil every 1000 miles.the dealership service department did a oil consumption test and confirmed the car was using that much oil and it was normal oil use according to kia.i told them i didn't agree that it was normal and the service department man agreed it was a lot of oil to use but said he had to go by kia's guidelines and i could file a complaint on the kia website. I filed a complaint with kia and was contacted 3 weeks later and told the same thing that 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles was within kia specifications.the car is still under the 100,000 miles extension warranty and the dealership has done all oil changes
My optima seems to hesitate or studder when accelerating from a stop. It reminds me of a gear slipping but my car only has 11,145 mi on it so there's no way that's possible. This has been an ongoing observation for months now. I've also had one of my mirrors not go back to normal position after i moved the car from r and began to drive. I had to pull over, place the car back in r, and flip back to d for the mirror to go back to place. Lastly i've noticed my driver seat seat warmer button isn't lighting up like it used to. When on high, only 2 lights are on. I recorded a video of it vs how the passenger seat works but i don't think i can upload it. I've at least taken photos of it in each level. This has been for about 2 weeks now. Mileage listed on report is what i'm currently at but the studdering has been since 3,000mi or so
I bought a 2016 kia optima from airport kia in 12/16. Beginning on 5/24/19, while driving my vehicle on a busy road the speedfell from 45 to 35 in less than a minute and began to jerk. I had it towed to galeana kia (g.a.) service dept, due to previous issues with airport kia's negligence and refusal to fix defogging issues i had on a previous 2014 kia optima that also had safety issues. G.a. Made repairs to my vehicle for that visit. On 6/24/19, it was towed again to g.a. For the same issue. The engine light came on the miles dropped from 45 to 35 while driving and began to jerk forcefully again. Both times almost resulted in an accident. This time g.a.'s diagnostic machine didn't pull up any issues with my 2016 optima. They opened up a case with the kia consumer technical dept. When i called g.a. A few days later, they told me that it was suggested they change out the knock sensor. On 6/28/19, the regional analyst contacted me. I voiced my concerns of the safety of this vehicle and that airport kia gave me another defective car that puts mine, my child's life and those around me in jeopardy. I stressed how the diagnostic machine isn't even picking up the issue of my vehicle so basically the engineers are going based on hypothetical's and can't guarantee safety of the car. Her response was that she's 100% confident this will fix the problem and to build trust in my car. On 7/9/19 the regional analyst from kia consumer e-mailed me now changing the service to be done to my car stating that they have the engine ordered for my vehicle and the harness. When i asked for information as to what caused the change she did not provide information answering my question.g.a. Was honest in letting me know that they have not been contacted at all in regards any engine or harness replacements and the last they heard from them only involved changing the knock sensor.
So i just took my wifes car to our local mechanic who normally does our oil changes. The prior weekend i moved her car to mow the lawn and her oil light came on then went right off. I let it go because we where due for an oil change and didnt think anything of it( considering it's a 2016 and thought maybe the oil light would come on stating it needs an oil change). So the next week my wife tells me that her oil light came on twice in 1 day, i said ok i'll check the oil after work and engine has cooled down. I checked it and had no oil, great! so i brought it to our mechanic and he said that i need to call kia because it had 1/2 quart of oil in the pan and something just isnt right. Called the dealership and nobody has heard of these engines being known for drinking oil. So i researched this and found all these stories leading to an engine replacement. But every now and then( getting off subject) her lights will just turn off while driving down the road. Thankfully i was driving when this happened and was able to not run off the road. Called kia and all they said was bring it in, we will look at it and go from there. I was told nothing was wrong, got an oil change and went on my way. It happened 7 times after that. It's a great car! we love it but now knowing we will be looking at an engine swap isnt setting well will me at all! this is not right and regardless if we are the original owner or second owner, kia should bite the bullet and replace all 2.4 engines and wiring harnesses.

Pulled up to red light and engine light came on, then screen showed engine control failure, and lostpower. Pulled in parking lot , called roadside assistance . Car was towed to dealership an hour away, they reset the computer said it needed an upgrade and i picked it up three days later. Had it home three days and samething again, car towed back to dealership and they again reset computer and said nothing else they could do till the car either blew up (which they know about these faulty motors)motor seized or caught fire. Now i have a $47,000 car sitting in my garage that i'm afraid to drive.

Engine rumbles like it is about to die intermittently when i let off the brake and before i press the gas after being stopped in traffic on city streets. I often have to press the gas pedal half way down to get it to gain speed on city streets, it feels sluggish, and shifting does not feel very smooth.

After 17 days car down in dealer, got a phone call to pick uo the car but no engine changed, instead kia motors (kma)order change wiring harnes.car worked good for 10 days. On saturday 04/27/2019 same issue, dropped the car 04/29/2019 to dealer, more tests and kma ordered to hook a flying record to record error codes when issue shows up. Dealer staff drove car for 300 miles with device hooked up, no issues.i was called to sign an agreement to drive the car myself with device connected. I drove car for 3 weeks and no issues. On 06/04/2019 dealer disconnects device and 06/07/2019 driving to work same issue cames back.3rd time dropped car to dealer, on 06/14/2019 called to pick car up, kma ordered to change sensors.on 06/21/2019 same issue came back, car dropped to dealer same day.on 04/01/2019 dealer told me that kma issue a lifetime warranty on engines of kia optima due to defective parts. That is why dealer wanted to change engine.on 06/24/2019 dealer told me that kma is working in an updated reflash which means reprograming software to car.i can see that kma does not wants to honor lifetime warranty to change engine.i am watching an attorney toget advice for legal actions.
I had the recall completed in dec 26, 2018march 2nd 2019 the car went into limp mode and i followed the instruction per kia motor group to have it towed to the nearest kia dealer i was told it was a wiring harness 'knockapril 19, 2019 i picked up my car only to get it a few miles and then returned it due to the check engine light started blinking again and it went into limp modei was told they had ordered the wrong wiring harness and would order the correct one. May 3, 2019 picked up my car and it seemed to be ok until may 14th check engine light came on and went into limp mode so returned to bob moore kiaaug 1, 2019 picked up my car and this time they said they changed the knock sensor.my car was good until oct 17, 2019 again check engine light came on and it went into limp mode, my care again is a bob moore kia. I have a case with kia motor, they have assigned me a person named melissa and she has all but told me to deal with someone to trade or report as a lemon, she asked me what i wanted and when i said to help me get this traded without being upside down since was in shop and will never get what i should for it and she said it is up to me to deal with a dealer.i also called kia repair department 10/25/19 and was told they are putting my car on the back burner and it seems that they are not in any hurry to help me get it fixed, the only thing i can say is i do have a loaner to drive.
I have been experiencing issues with my 2016 kia optima since i purchased it on september, 5th 2016. A short time after owning my new vehicle, first the car started to hesitate when starting as if it was struggling to start, the push button would turn red and the indicator lights would light up on the dashboard as if the key was not recognized in the car. The car would also self accelerate. On or around august 16th or 17th the car stalled out while it was being driven,we attempted to restart the car and it turned on like normal so the tow was canceled. , the service writer & kia all have copies of the videos the mechanic has also told me he was able to duplicate the issue, the solution was to change the fuel pump and service the fuel delivery system. Upon the services being completed we were contacted by the service manager, and kia that the car was ready to be picked up on september 6th 2017. While driving the vehicle home we noticed some hesitation while idle, also some strong acceleration when taking off from red-light or stop sign. While parked we noticed some strong vibration from the motor which the car had not had previously before service. Also after several attempts of starting the car, the car would either start rough, and also still had the same original occurrence as before with the key not being recognized in the car. With the car not fully starting and the push button turning red with the instrument panel lighting up with the key not in car light along with some others. On thursday september 7th, 2017 at about 4:30pm i had the cruise control set to 80 mph, the car hesitated a couple times, then self decelerated to 73 mph, reaccelerated to 82 mph then self adjusted to 80 mph, i contacted the dealership right after the occurrence i was told i had to wait to bring the car back in they had no loaner vehicles, not to use the cruise control feature.
I bought my car 6 months ago, i have performed all required maintenance for the vehicle and at 17,000 miles there was a ticking sound while i was driving on a busy road with my handicapped mother.there was a loud noise and i thought i blew a tire, the engine seized up and i was in the middle of the road, i had to call emergency road service to get my mother and i safely home. After getting the vehicle towed to the kia dealership i am told the engine is needing to be replaced because a rod was thrown threw the motor. We were very lucky that neither one of us was injured with this incident however others may not be so lucky.
Was exiting the freeway, came to a stoplight, and as continuing with driving the check engine light starts blinking and was not able to accelerate, as if it was slipping. Car would not go over around 30 mph until feeling the car not able to accelerate again. I used a code reader and got code p1326, which i had looked up and says it has something to do with a knock sensor detection system. Had bring my car in to get it checked out and was told my car had low oil, about 2 quartz. I do regular oil changes though and had done an oil change a few weeks prior. The shop i went to told me there may be a service campaign for the car. Was told specific years have had engine problems with oil, losing oil although no leaks or signs.
This vehicle suffers from a hesitation during take off. According to kia this hesitation come from a 7 speed dual clutch transmission(dct). Which causes the vehicle the driver to feel a shudder sensation. This vehicle has a double clutch. I have taken my 2016 kia optima dealers for repair to this problem without any solution. Runs rough.

Oil is burning too hot causing the oil to burn out faster than it should. Over time this issue will lead to engine failure
The contact owns a 2016 kia optima. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed as engine failure. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had not approved the vehicle for an engine repair because the software update had not been performed on the vehicle. The contact stated that she had not received a notice from the manufacturer for the software update. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and initially informed the contact that the engine would be repaired under the warranty coverage however, the manufacturer later informed the contact that because the software update was not performed, the warranty coverage would be declined. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
P1326 engine code came on while driving 60mph on the interstate. Luckily was in far left lane when engine shut off and was safely able to get off freeway to a nearby gas station.
E - c v v t seal seating issue. My 2016 kia optima is giving an obd ii error code of p0010 "a" camshaft position actuator circuit. This causes reduction in power during acceleration, and elevates engine idle speeds to 1200-1400 rpm. This elevation in engine speed causes the car to try to move forward even when the brakes are pressed in stop and go traffic. In stop and go traffic, this could easily lead to vehicle crashing. This, i believe, should be a part of recall instead of a technical service bulletin from the manufacturer. Hyundai and kia use same engine, and has a tsb number 15-01-022-1, and kia has a tsb to change the motor plug and ecvvt cover for it. They are aware of this issue in their car, and it should be a recall. When the car was in motion for me the first time the check engine light came on, i almost hit a car in front of me as the engine does not go back down to idle speeds. This is dangerous.
In august 2020, my check engine light started blinking which means my engine went into limp mode. I had it towed to the kia dealership in birmingham alabama. They did a reset due to knock sensor detection. In october 2020, the engine light came in again. I took it to the kia dealership in murfreesboro and they had to replace a head in my engine. My engine has been burning oil so much so that i canā€™t even make it 3,000 miles between oil changes without having to add more oil. In june 2021, engine light is on again. This is the vehicle i use to transport my children to and from school and myself back and forth to work, this vehicle is unsafe due to the fact that an engine should not have this many issues and with a known recall kia should replace the engines to prevent someone from being hurt or killed due to engine failure.

Around the first week of february this year.they did a recall on the engine adjustment and the following weekend the engine failed.i was able to get the car into kia napleton carmel/indianapolis this was february 11th i believe. Within ten minutes the operations person came back and said they had a rental coming to pick me up.they had to replace the engine do to whatever they did to the car in the recall.i thought about this for awhile, i was going to purchase the car at the end of the lease.the large warranty is just about up in time, and should anything occur outside of the power train, it is on me.that mean if it takes months or weeks to fix the car, i need to lease a car and wait for the part. I became very irritated on the 15th day of waiting.that was now all most a month ago.kia napleton has now had the car for a total of five weeks and not engine in sight.enterprise told me my rental was extended to april 14th which kia motors if paying.i have complained from the dealership to kia lease, to kia motors and back to the dealership.a lot of run-around.finally, they have issued a letter to permit me to pay $19,040 to buy out the lease or around $11,000 to find a new lease or just $3,000 for my troubles and keep the car.my worry is if something else goes wrong, what if i am waiting for five weeks or longer for a part to arrive from asia, and what if it happens on the open road.i want kia to take me out of the lease without damages to me.i am not pleased to have had kia destroy their own engine and now make it my problem.kia has continually referred me between departments and one individual told me to contact my own insurance agent.they cannot guarantee me that the car will fail in some form for the remainder of the lease which is just around 16 months out.i took the letter from kia over to napleton k
So i got the software update for the engine recall. On the 24th, engine light cane on. Waited for an engine replace for 2 months, then they told me it was the knock sensor wire harness. They replaced that and gave me back my car. 1 week later, same engine light. Took it in they wiped off the engine light, drove it for a week and tild me nothing was wrong with the car. Speakless on the way kia has handled this.
Vehicle started burning oil, completed oil consumption test. Dealership stated that i have to get a new engine due to combustion rings problem.
A month after doing the recall for the engine update, the harness has to completely replaced.i was on the expressway went it started shaking and would not go over 63 mph.the engine light kept blinking.
When starting from a dead stop, the car hesitates up to 6 or 7 seconds. Ithink it has stalled, then it starts again by its self. This is extremely dangerous when pulling out into an intersection. It does this constantly.
On july 26 2019 i took my 2016 kia optima in the valley hi kia for a product improvement campaign and performed a software update to the ecu.on 7/29/19 my vehicle mil light began to blink and the car went into limp mode was on the highway going 65mph.took to the dealer where they replaced the wiring harness.on 8/2/19 picked up car. On 8/7/19 the mil light began flashing and vehicle went into limp mode.took to dealership and was given a rental. On 8/13/19 rec'd text vehicle was done.on 8/21/19 same thing happened again each time i was driving 65 mph on the freeway.my 16 year old daughter drives my car as well.i am concerned for her safety as well as mine due to all the complaints i have read. My vehicle is still at valley hi kia to this day 8/26/19. Today kia texted me that they are ordering parts and now replacing the knock censor and reviewing a new campaign that just came out. Was told at least a week more.
It began when we would try to start the car it seemed to have battery issues and have trouble starting, and finally the battery did drain but isn't holding charge but took it in to get checked and battery is fine. The headlights will randomly shut off while driving at night like if the sensor were in the day time. Now the engine light has came on while driving it and when you hit the gas it jerks the car after 20 mph. This happens on and off where it will be fine then suddenly start doing it all over again everything also happens in different occasions.

When i try to start my car it'll turn electrical components on but not my engine. I have absolutely no power steering when this occurs. Car will go into gear but i cannot accelerate. Happens more often than not.
Excessive oil usage. Using two quarts of oil in a week. No leaks at all, anywhere.

When decelerating, the car jerks at exactly 35 mph whether im on the highway or in the city and this happens . I have been to the dealership 3 times for this issue and they have even drove my car themselves and felt the same thing that i was feeling andall they say is that without a check engine light threr is nothing they can do about it and i just have to "live" with it.this is ridiculous and kia needs to address this issue before it causes any accidents or worse death. I spent way too much money on this car for it to be having these issues. Brakes are supposed to be a safety feature not a safety hazard.
From a dead stop driving around, releasing the brake petal from a stop and getting ready to get going, the car shutters a bit and/or both the engine feels like it's gonna stall. Hesitation to get going.. Does it in all 3 drive modes. Dealers says npf..of course and said maybe quality of gas, i use top tier gas only.
My daughters 2016 kia optima is shutting off while driving.sometimes it restarts after shutting down.sometimes she has to hurry and put in neutral and restart as cars behind me don't know the car has shut off.she feels very unsafe and is afraid someone is going to run into her.took it to kia dealer and they ran codes but nothing came up and they couldn't get it to duplicate.happened two more times, took it in they ran codes with no results and updated the 1802 software.one day later it shut off again while at a stop light.not always at a stop light sometimes driving 45 mph or turning a corner.this issue seems to affect many different kias vehicles on internet but there is nothing listed by anyone that has fixed the problem.again my daughter feels unsafe and doesn't want to drive the car till it is fixed.this problem has happened about 7 times. My headlights have gone out 3 times in the last four months. I've never encountered this type of problem with any other vehicle. This car is s 2016 kia optimaand had left me without headlights .i notice others have complained about the same exact problem. This safety issue needs to be investigated . My head lights have turned off and on by themselves three times in the last two weeks while the car is in motion. Each time it's happened has been in different areas in the city i live in. I always keep my car's headlights on auto. The first time was at night when they randomly turned off by themselves. I looked at the dashboard and the screen for the headlight function was switching from auto to off by itself, so i jiggled the trigger for the headlights and they came back on. Same thing the last two times. Scary for me because my route home from work is pretty scarce with street lights.
While driving with lights in auto mode they will randomly come on in daylight and go off in darkness. If you switch to manual it works properly, but in auto it's totally random and happens with no change in outside lighting conditions.

Mid september, 2020, i began to notice that my headlights would turn off as i was driving. They would cut off for no more than 15 seconds and turn back on. I didn't think anything of it, until i started having issues with other components of my 2016 kia optima. On 11/30/2020 i was driving at 30mph through a residential area. As i was approaching a stop sign, my engine light came on. When i tried to accelerate, the car began to jump and hesitate. No matter how far down i pushed the gas, the care was jumping/shaking and wold not accelerate over 20mph. I pulled into an autozone where they ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle. Error code p1326 (knock sensor) came up. The next morning, i called coastal kia of wilmington in north carolina and explained to them what had happened. They sent an employee to pick up my vehicle (12/01/2020). They inspected my vehicle and informed me that the protocol was to perform a bearing clearance test and ecu upgrade. I picked up my car on 12/02/2020. A week later, i called the dealership again and informed them that although my engine light had not come back on, the acceleration issue was still occurring. I asked if they would look at the car again, to which they said no, that they cannot take a further look at it until the engine light came back on. On 12/20/2020 i was driving 40mph when my car began to stutter uncontrollably. The following morning i called kia again to inform them what had happened, and they agreed to take a look at it. On 12/22/2020 they called me and said that my car was burning oil and smoking excessively. They opened a tech case with kia and informed me that they could not do anything to the car until they heard back from them. On 12/23/2020 they called me again to tell me that the issue was not covered under a recall, and that my next step would be to replace my engine.

Abs warning light, bsd warning light, and traction control warning light all came on at the same time.on the way to the dealership they all went off. The technician said he sees that the warning light were on, but their computer is not detecting a problem. If it happens again bring it back. Well, they're on again. Headlights randomly turn off when set to "auto" position when signaling. Does not happen frequently but any time it happens is too many times for your headlights to randomly turn off. So i just took my wifes car to our local mechanic who normally does our oil changes. The prior weekend i moved her car to mow the lawn and her oil light came on then went right off. I let it go because we where due for an oil change and didnt think anything of it( considering it's a 2016 and thought maybe the oil light would come on stating it needs an oil change). So the next week my wife tells me that her oil light came on twice in 1 day, i said ok i'll check the oil after work and engine has cooled down. I checked it and had no oil, great! so i brought it to our mechanic and he said that i need to call kia because it had 1/2 quart of oil in the pan and something just isnt right. Called the dealership and nobody has heard of these engines being known for drinking oil. So i researched this and found all these stories leading to an engine replacement. But every now and then( getting off subject) her lights will just turn off while driving down the road. Thankfully i was driving when this happened and was able to not run off the road. Called kia and all they said was bring it in, we will look at it and go from there. I was told nothing was wrong, got an oil change and went on my way. It happened 7 times after that. It's a great car! we love it but now knowing we will be looking at an engine swap isnt setting well will me at all! this is not right and regardless if we are the original owner or second owner, kia should bite the bullet and replace all 2.4 engines and wiring harnesses.
The headlights turn on when on auto on there own on a bright sunny day. This seems to happen intermittently.also when the headlights are on, the passenger brake light goes out.when i turn the headlights off the brake light works again.this seems to happen all the time both when driving and parked in my driveway.
While driving at night or during the day at random times the exterior headlights will go off and sometimes come back on without any changes from driver. The setting for my headlights are set to auto. In order for light to come on at night once they have automatically turned themselves off i have to switch the control to on. This is continuing to happen at random times while driving.

I then brought the car to a kia dealership for repair but they failed to find the problem and said they were unable to recreate the situation. Headlights shine only on the road straight ahead.side lighting is so bad you can't read the road signs on the side of the road. This is the first time that i have driven the car at night on country roads.the headlights do not fan out on the road ahead at all.visability is very poor and this is unsafe.
Headlight assembly: wiring harness melting, bulbs burning out every 3 months or so. A safety hazard potentially a fire hazard. Driving visibility at night with lights on dim creates a tremendous safety hazard.
I was driving down the highway at 9:40pm and my headlights turned off by themselves. They were set to auto. I pulled over and turned them to on and thankfully they stayed on until we made it home. This is very dangerous! i had my son in the car. We are lucky to be alive.
When. I'm driving the car shuts off but comes right back on and sometimes the radio just shuts off and comes back on plus all the lights inside goes off.
Whilst the vehicle is in motion on any road the headlights will shut themselves off for a few seconds and then turn back on.this happens when the switch setting is set to auto or is in the on position. When i google search the issue i see that there are many people with this issue. The display on the dashboard which displays the light switch settings pops up and highlights the "auto" position and then disappears. I am not sure if the same thing happens when the switch is in the "on" position. When it happens i will sometimes move the switch and the lights come on again, and sometimes this does not help and i am driving down the road with no headlights and it is extremely dangerous especially on very dark roads. When driving in the daylight i will see the display for the light switch position appear on the dashboard indicating that this condition is happening during the day as well.this is happening more and more, it happens almost every time i drive the car.
The drivers side running light went out one day and my car alerted that it was out. I changed the bulb and that did not fix the problem. The fuse appeared ok, however i replaced it just to be sure. There was still no change. Checked the power to the headlight assembly and i have power all the way up until it enters the headlight assembly and then there is no power to the running light only. The entire headlight assembly had to be replaced for a whopping $360.
About 3 weeks ago my headlight auto dash notification would flash on and off for probably 8 times. It was day time so i didn't think anything of it. Last week i was driving in the dark and my head lights turned off completely. I was able to get them back on. I started doing research and other people have had the same issue stating that it is the multifunction switch. Again this morning driving in the dark they turned off completely again. This is dangerous for not just the driver and passengers of the car but also other drivers if you can not be seen. This needs to be recalled and needs to be fixed sooner than later. Please help.
While driving with my automatic headlights on at night, the lights have turned off several times while i was driving. The lights turned off for a few seconds each time then turned on again.
The headlights will randomly turn themselves on and off in day and night time. This only happens in the 'auto' option for the headlights. I have seen numerous other reports on this on here. In addition to that the car doesn't respond to the key fob most of the time even with brand new battery in the fob. Step dad has the same car with same issues with the key fob.
I just bought this car a month ago and have not been able to work in it as a lyft driver because there is always something wrong with it it's been in the shop more than i've drove it it makes a knocking noise and i'm not safe in the vehicle i did a history check on it and come to find out their are a bunch of recalls on it can anyone help me please?i was driving on a city street and highways.
Headlight malfunction shut off problem. At night when in motion on various city streets the front and rear lights will, suddenly and randomly, with no driver input whatsoever, shut off completely both in the back and in the front of the car! the headlamps and rear lamps will, at that point stay completely off with absolutely no exterior lighting function except the brake lights!! the only way to get rear and head lamps back is to turn the headlights switch off and then on again. This malfunction so far has occurred when headlight switch is in auto mode. This mode of lighting detects environmental lighting conditions to activate either daytime running lights or headlights. This has happened five times since i purchased this car brand new in 2016.the dealer has been notified and the car has been inspected several times but they have repeatedly insisted that the system is working 'as designed' or shows no problems. Fortunately, i have the front and rear cameras installed with videos to prove it. My vehicle mounted cameras have captured this malfunction as has my iphone video.i will need a way to send you the video files as they are too large. I believe this is a very dangerous situation. After many attempts and communication with the company, the car was kept for two weeks and was returned with repair to what they are calling the "multifunction switch".
When i turn on my blinkers my headlights sometimes flash off (without turning them off). Then come back on when i turn off the blinker. My trunk has also lost power and will no longer unlock.
When i was driving at 4:45am it was total darkness still out my exterior headlights shut off and i could not see. It is always set on auto. It just happened out of no where and i could not see. I could have had an accident. Now i have read that a few people have had this same problem. About a month ago they kind of went off then on again bit i thought maybe they were switching to daytime lights. Now today they just shut off in total darkness. This needs to be looked into! especially if many people report same problem. Now i did pull over where i could then switched the lights to just the on mode and they worked fine tell i got home but i don't know what's happening. Purchased a 2016 kia optima ex with the premium package with less than 30 odometer miles in april 2017 from a kia dealer (vin [xxx]).at 4200 miles the car stalled and lost all power while traveling on the highway during rush hour. Screen flashed "engine control system - possible engine condition. "took vehicle to the kia dealer on 07/08/2017 who indicated the throttle position sensor needed adjusting and cleaning. On 1/12/2020, i was driving my car 2016 kia optima from alpharetta to decatur to attend church. I pulled into the parking lot of the church and parked. A few seconds after i parked, i began seeing lots of smoke coming from the right passenger side of the car. The police men who were in the parking lot directing traffic asked me to get out of the car quickly and began attempting to quench the fire with a fire extinguisher. Shortly after, the dekalb fire dept arrived and fought to put out and contain the fire. It was then towed to the tow yard. I contacted my insurance company right away and after a few days of investigation, unfortunately, my car was deemed a total loss. Next day, i checked my vin # to see if there are any recalls by kia that i was not aware of, but the results came back saying 'no records' and '0 recalls found'. On 1/15/2020 at approximately 12.50pm, i contacted kia corporate and filed a complaint and i was informed when i gave my statement over the phone that there was an ' open campaign pi 1802 ecu upgrade' and as advised by the kia customer service rep that he will be forwarding my complaint to a the national dept and they will get back to me. A kia rep ashley contacted me and advised kia engineers will like to investigate what happened. After 3 weeks of waiting, the rep contacted me stating they will like to pay off remaining bal on my car, and personal items. They will not help me with getting another car and i declined because i lost everything and incurred a greater damage. Then the kia rep wrote me stating that they ill no longer pursue investigating since i refused accepting $1001 my left over balance owed to the lender. I am very disappointed on how kia has treated me leaving me hanging after such a great loss. I am seeking legal actions since kia has refused to come to a suitable resolution.
Shutter/hesitation upon take off. I signed my lease on 9/29 and was at the service dept first of 7 times on 10/4. At first i was told the car had to "learn the way i drive" that there were no issues with my car. Since then the dealer has "reset" the transmission, changed fuel injectors, replaced transmission, and now has done 'several updates' (seriously?)this car has nearly caused accidents on numerous occasions. When i asked the tech if he would drive his family in this car i got no response. I have asked on the last 2 trips to the dealer for them to simply replace my car. I am currently consulting a lawyer.
The car stumbles to start and when i accelerate it flutters until picking up speed. This happened on highway 43.
Oil is burning too hot causing the oil to burn out faster than it should. Over time this issue will lead to engine failure

My vehicle started stalling when accelerating two days ago. My rpm's jump when shifting gears and it stalls and jerks when taking off from a complete stop. I took it to advanced auto parts and the code "p1326" showed on their code reader. Knock scensor is under the code and i've read where multiple people with this make and model of car have had the same issue and had their whole motor replaced.
Ever since i had my car serviced about 3 weeks ago my car has been sluggish and acceleration has weakened, also i'm getting poorer gas mileage. The recall that was fixed has greatly reduced the performance of my vehicle.
Takata recall car starts to stall and idle when on the road and in traffic. Car starts to back up and reverse without notice or warning. Engine, battery comes on automatically and i have to turn off ignition and restart vehicle.
I have a flashing check engine light while driving my vehicle was not trying to give gas or anything
While driving the car the fuel consumption in the motor would bog the engine down to where it would barely go over 40 mph on the highway. At this time the engine trouble indicator light would come on and not go off. I immediately took it to the local kia dealership in mt. Hope, wv.. The mechanic changed out the sensor that showed up on his meter and the engine seemed to do good while in the shop but when they backed it out of the shop bay, another sensor lighr came on. We had already paid the dealership $206, they would not return our money
Vehicle consumes oil at high rate. Approximately 5 qts per 3000 miles driven sometimes more often. After new oil is added, acceleration will delay at times, usually when starting from a complete stop. When the vehicle begins moving forward a cloud of bluish/white exhaust will be created. The clouds of exhaust occurs more often just after an oil change or oil is added. Will continue for the first 1000 miles then will become less frequent as more oil is consumed and the amount remaining in the oil pan is lessened. Has occurred since i purchased the car.
Smells like gasoline . Maybe a delivery hose .can smell gasoline randomly while vehicle is in motion.

P1326 engine code came on while driving 60mph on the interstate. Luckily was in far left lane when engine shut off and was safely able to get off freeway to a nearby gas station.
Vehicle was stationary, stopped, in the west conshohocken municipal community building parking lot, 112 front street, west conshohocken, pa. The car was in park with emergency brake engaged. I went to turn the car off and when i pressed the ignition button, a loud explosion sound came from under the hood and then a loud jack hammer sound started. Car shot backwards in reverse and all the lights on the dashboard were flashing and a bell ringing. I pumped the brakes to stop the car and it would not stop. In had just been turned off, and was already in park and emergency brake on. Car went on out of nowhere, and went in reverse the length of approximately 25 cars and crashed into a parked car.police were called to the scene. They reported the accident and it is under investigation. Murray kia was where the car was towed. They could not replicate the problem and told me it was an insurance problem. Not true!! my passenger and i were lucky not to have rolled into the street and oncoming traffic, and could been killed or seriously injured, or injured others. Thank god the parked car was there and only then did the car crash into it, and stop.
I've been having an issue with the vehicle jerking upon take off as if the transmission struggles to engage, it's caused me several near accidents due to the car not going when it's supposed to, how it's supposed to.. This happens at start up when first shifting into gear, and after stoping then attempting to go. I have taken it to kia 3 times. The last time i took it they felt the issue, then claimed it was due to the vehicle being equipped with a double clutch. Not letting me take the paperwork that describes this double clutch.i have never ever felt this with any other vehicle especially with a brand new one.
My car was manufactured on novenber 13, 2015 the same date for the recall number sc139 for the powertrain axle but wasn't included on the recall. My axle is starting to make noise like if it is fail just as the recall states i'm towing it to the dealer to get fixed but was my car suppose to be apart of that recall?
After 2nd transmission was installed,2 days after i received a diagnostic warning of a possible motor control unit error. , i received a prompt so it could report it back to kia, i then received an email with error code p0c17brought car back to kia, they stated the calibration was off, and needed to be re calibrated
When accelerating from a complete stop, the engine shudders & hesitates.i must allow extra time & space for oncoming traffic, when pulling out into an intersection.this is an ongoing problem.kia says the vehicle is performing as it was designed to. I think a recall should be considered, as i have seen numerous, similar complaints on various websites regarding this problem.
My oil is burning faster that expected. I gotand oil change and a week later it was to the bottom.
Car lost acceleration while driving
From a stationary position, upon accelerating the car hesitates, vibrates, feels as if it might stall but does not stall. Car, within a second or so will catch and accelerate as it should. Driver is very aware of the vibration hesitation. The passenger can also feel the hesitation. Skipping sensation happens at any stopped location, at an intersection or stop sign etc. I t seems to happen about 75% of the time. Occasionally there will not been a hesitation experience.i have taken it in at least 2 times to dealer service department and was told thy could find nothing to account for the problem and even suggested that i use a higher grade fuel. Fuel milage is great, all other driving aspects of th kia are perfect.
My driver side axle is clicking and pop when i turn and there is no way that has been taken care of and it clearly states on this site that all are recalls on the model is there anyway the recalls an be done now i bought this call at 2018 preowned with 38000 or more miles on it it now has 82000 miles on it and if a recall has not ended done why can't they do them now and i don't feel these vehicle is safe for me to be in and i'm disabled!!! i wanted to see if you all can help with these issues with the engine as well!!!all recalls on this model
Was exiting the freeway, came to a stoplight, and as continuing with driving the check engine light starts blinking and was not able to accelerate, as if it was slipping. Car would not go over around 30 mph until feeling the car not able to accelerate again. I used a code reader and got code p1326, which i had looked up and says it has something to do with a knock sensor detection system. Had bring my car in to get it checked out and was told my car had low oil, about 2 quartz. I do regular oil changes though and had done an oil change a few weeks prior. The shop i went to told me there may be a service campaign for the car. Was told specific years have had engine problems with oil, losing oil although no leaks or signs.
From a dead stop driving around, releasing the brake petal from a stop and getting ready to get going, the car shutters a bit and/or both the engine feels like it's gonna stall. Hesitation to get going.. Does it in all 3 drive modes. Dealers says npf..of course and said maybe quality of gas, i use top tier gas only.
Vehicle, on multiple occasions, will shift unexpectedly from fifth gear into fourth veryabruptly and dramatically. There is also a lapse in time when you press on the gas to accelerate and with for it to down shift into fourth gear or beyond.

Was traveling to dallas, texas from waco, texas on 10/05/2019. The transmission in my vehicle went out. The vehicle surged erratically multiple times, while the car was slowing down, speed limit was 75mph, with barriers on both sides (no shoulder on either side. Of interstate 35 north) my vehicle got down to about 40mph when we had to coast until i finally found a break in the barriers. Was a very scary situation. They were vehicles obviously driving speed. Limit behind us. I was able to get off the interstate and call road side assistance. They towed the vehicle back to university kia in waco, texas. Where it currently sits, awaiting a new transmission. We are terrified to get behind the wheel of this car again. All i am being told is that a new transmission is being ordered at this time.
After the kia dealership replaced the transmission the first time. Due to a mcu failure. 2 weeks later car was due for oil change, jiffy lube stated my transmission was leaking. I took it back to kia. After 2 days of it bei n.v g in the shop. I went to kia on the 3rd day, to check it on the car and was told the dealership was waiting on approval from kia automotive to replace the transmission a 2nd time do to the leaking of the first transmission
I started the car, which appeared normal, about 10 minutes into my trip, the dashboard display was flashing," check hybrid system,stop vehicle and turn off engine " a dinging bell was going off, i was startled by it, so i immediately pulled over and stoppedi let car sit for a minute the tried to start it again.no luck. The nav screen showed motor control unit, issue. Asked me to send a report, then call road side assistance. Roadside showed up towed me to the kia dealership, they called me 1 pm saturday afternoon.saying they needed more time to diagnose it,abs put me in a loaner cari did not hear anything from the dealer monday they thursday afternoon.i stopped by and was told they replaced the transmission.the car only had 56k miles on it. I pick up the car on friday.
When the car encounters a hill and needs to downshift, either to climb or to hold back the speed when it descends, the cruise control remembers the downshift and will not return to high gear untila) it is manually overridden, but will still downshift up to 2 gears, when the lever is placed back to automaticor, b) when the cruise control is turned off.the cruise control also belatedly reacts to loss of speed control and overcorrects with too much power, resulting in a crude ride, as well.the workload is increased dealing with getting the car to attain top gear on flat roads, and is creating unsafe conditions, in my opinion.i have attempted to get this attended to at the dealership, and they continue to not fix the issue, as well as inform me i shouldn't be using cruise control on hills.my 2014 kia optima did not exhibit these issues, nor any other of my cars which had cruise control.there is a problem and these people will not fix it.the consumer stated the heat does enter the foot well area.
I was changing out the front brake pads and i noticed on the driver side the boot around the axel had cracked and the grease had leaked out.
E - c v v t seal seating issue. My 2016 kia optima is giving an obd ii error code of p0010 "a" camshaft position actuator circuit. This causes reduction in power during acceleration, and elevates engine idle speeds to 1200-1400 rpm. This elevation in engine speed causes the car to try to move forward even when the brakes are pressed in stop and go traffic. In stop and go traffic, this could easily lead to vehicle crashing. This, i believe, should be a part of recall instead of a technical service bulletin from the manufacturer. Hyundai and kia use same engine, and has a tsb number 15-01-022-1, and kia has a tsb to change the motor plug and ecvvt cover for it. They are aware of this issue in their car, and it should be a recall. When the car was in motion for me the first time the check engine light came on, i almost hit a car in front of me as the engine does not go back down to idle speeds. This is dangerous.
When starting from a dead stop, the car hesitates up to 6 or 7 seconds. Ithink it has stalled, then it starts again by its self. This is extremely dangerous when pulling out into an intersection. It does this constantly.

The driveshaft was replaced during the repair, but the vehicle was leaking fluid afterwards. The contact was informed by an independent mechanic to call the dealer back. The dealer stated that the warranty for the recall repair was valid for only twelve months and had expired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer and was provided a case number. The manufacturer stated that the dealer was independently owned and they would not get paid to perform the repair; therefore, the contact would have to pay for the repair. The failure mileage was 53,323.
Whenever decelerating the car jerks terribly hard enough the throw your head forward. It feels as if your hitting your breaks really hard!

When i try to start my car it'll turn electrical components on but not my engine. I have absolutely no power steering when this occurs. Car will go into gear but i cannot accelerate. Happens more often than not.

2016 kia optima will not go in reverse. It will only work in drive. Tried to drive out of my driveway today. 07.22.2021 and the car would not go in reverse. Pulled back in the driveway and will not drive due to safety hazard.

Taking a left from a stop at maybe 5 mph , and the right front axle broke in half. I was able to coast off the road and have the car towed. There is a recall for this exact issue (recall #sc139).
Was hit head on by a sliding vehicle with bald tires. Air bags did not deploy and seat belts did not hold us in place.we were doing about 15 mi.per hour or less on a mt pass because of weather conditions theother vehicle was doing about 45 mi. Perhour or more when hit us. Highway patrol investigated accident.
As i began crossing the intersection (highway) i ended up getting t- boned halfway through the intersection by a pickup. He was speeding going roughly 60mph in a 45mph zonemy kia optima sustained passenger side/ and frontal impact damage. The impact of the accident sent me skidding across the highway and none of my frontal airbags activated nor did the seatbelt lock up. This lead me to sustain heavy chest injuries from the impact of the steering wheel. Also the car could not be shut off after the accident. The vehicle stayed running until emt disconnected the power to it.

I was rear ended while stopped in breakdown lane of a secondary highway (40 mph) problem that i would like to address is the inadequate cushioning in the headrests of this car and probably many others. Suffered a concussion the effects of which are still ongoing. I think that there needs to be standards applied to headrests to have energy absorbing cushioning.

Vehicle was in motion, driving straight in left lane on a city street in eastbound direction. On its own, the car started to accelerate while turning towards the left simultaneously. Driver was driving about 40 mph and based on air bag module, car sped up to 55 mph. The steering wheel and the brake seemed to be locked or stuck because neither component worked while this malfunction occurred. Driver tried to press the brake to slow the car down, but brake would not press down. Also tried to turn steering wheel to avoid oncoming westbound traffic, but steering wheel did not work either. Driver had absolutely no control of vehicle. The car accelerated and veered left for about a quarter of a mile until it finally hit a curb, then front passenger side wheel, rotor, and suspension broke. It seemed as if car was still trying to accelerate after it hit the curb because there are skid marks from the tires after impact. When the car stopped, the steering wheel and the brake pedal were no longer stuck. The steering wheel rotated properly and brake pedal pressed down with ease. Because of broken wheel, car was not operable afterward and was towed to collision center. Complaint was filed with kia consumer affairs and inspection completed, but they said they did not find any errors with the car electrical system or any other errors. The air bag module report coincides with the malfunction claim that i filed with kia on the day of the incident, but kia stated there weren't any error codes in the report. After repairs and inspection were completed, i traded-in the vehicle out of fear that this malfunction may happen again. Since an issue wasn't found with the car, that means the issue wasn't fixed and i didn't want to own a malfunctioning vehicle.

My break service light keep coming on and it's making a noise like it's a honda i took it back to ganas service and week later the break light back on
While in motion the headlights turn on by themselves at random times during the day. Abs warning light, bsd warning light, and traction control warning light all came on at the same time.on the way to the dealership they all went off. The technician said he sees that the warning light were on, but their computer is not detecting a problem. If it happens again bring it back. Well, they're on again. The car has been stationary since friday afternoon, sunday evening my son sends me a pic of my car, the lights are on!

I was driving in the evening at 25-30mph on a city street. There were no parked cars, no oncoming traffic, no pedestrians or bicycles for three blocks ahead of me. Without any forward collision warning or road hazard, my car's autonomous emergency braking (aeb) system initiated and applied full braking force to my car for no reason. The car beeped continuously and flashed a red "emergency braking" notification in the dash console. The vehicle anti-locking braking system engaged in response to the applied braking from the aeb. I was unable to control or stop the braking during the event. Once the car was fully stopped, the red dash notification stopped, the beeping stopped and i was able to move my car to the side of the road so traffic behind me could proceed.

I've been having car problems with my car for a over a year,the steering wheel get stuck, my brakes wasn't working good, so i got new breaks, however my car still doesn't make a quick complete stop, i'm also having electrical problems, my headlights bulb have to be changed once a week, i also have to changed my oil every well, today my car is at the dealership waiting on a engine, it's been there for over three months.
I rented a vehicle from fair/uber under a california promotion. In the understanding the vehicle was uber ready. Three weeks into using the car squeezing brakes let me to the authorised shop for maintanence. It was inspected and what was found made this vehicle unsafe. I could not use it for its purpose. To drive it for uber. I have snap shots of the condition of the brakes and rotors. The shocks or struts are also shot and the coolant resivior was close to empty. The two front tires also were recomended to be replaced as they were cupping. This vehicle had not been inspected prior to there releasing it to me for any safety issues prior and when the invoice was sent to donlen, 3 times, which took a whole day, was fully denied. Refusal to correct this safety issue. This car is still in this condition. It was removed from pep boys on mission george by myself. The next day at 5:06 pm i received an email from fair suggesting i take it to another approved shop. I realised that this was not my duty or my problem. I could just return the vehicle. I was i am done with this company. It was going to be a 3 day job in the shop. And fair told me repeatedly that they had no ability to prevent me from having to pay for the week it was disabled. Steering wheel locked causing vehicle to hit curb and damage wheel well. Veh possibly will need new rim.
Car lost acceleration while driving

Multiable occasions of power steering loss at low speeds (15mph or less).the power steering unit appears to stop working which results in the inability to turn the wheel.i have driven cars without power steering and this condition with the kia optima results in a near complete lack of steering, not just difficulty turning.the condition appears to be preceded with a sticking or clicking condition that increases in frequency until the system fails.turning off the car then restarting it appears to clear the issue and steering returns to normal for a decreasing period of time between each episode.the car has spent over two weeks at the local kia service department without them being able to recreate the issue.
Driving at highway speeds the car has very tight steering and car drifts all over lane. I am always making corrections. Feel like rack and pinion is failing. Car only has 31,000 miles on it.
Sometimes when i start the car it only runs at about 500rpm and the digital speedometer starts going up in numbers when i'm in parkand i have no power steering. I can put the car in drive and park or open the door and it starts acting normal. It also acts like it's going to shut off when i come to a stop. I am aware that the rpms drop when you stop almost like a gas saver but with in the last 20 thousand miles it has gotten really rough. It burns oil like crazy the dealership is aware of this but can't do anything with the engine tell it throws a code and they can't duplicate any of my other issues, the front end has made awful noises for the last 50 thousand miles or so and has had the front suspension replaced but that didn't fix the issue. Iv has the knock sensor replaced but i'm convinced it was just a gimmick so the car won't throw codes anymore because it should be with the issues i'm having. Like when the electronic steering goes out i get no dash light. I wish kia would own up to their issues
On the evening of may 17, i needed a jump after work. I went home, turned off my car but was unable to start it again so i replaced the battery. I thought i had fixed the problem until the next day when i was driving 65mph on a local interstate with my daughter in the car, all my dash lights came on, i lost navigation & radio and my power steering locked up. I went to turn on my hazards and those did not work either. I checked my mirrors to make sure no one was going to hit me and i was able to get off the highway and pull onto the shoulder. I was extremely fearful as i had minimal steering capability & was unable to notify other motorists of my disabled vehicle as my hazard lights were not functioning. I was able to get it towed to a dealership where i was told i needed a new alternator for my 3 year old car. While my mileage was at 66,500 miles, i definitely had not anticipated need to replace that part of a while. Despite that, i was more upset that i lost function of my car and was not able to warn other cars with working hazard lights.
Vehicle was in motion, driving straight in left lane on a city street in eastbound direction. On its own, the car started to accelerate while turning towards the left simultaneously. Driver was driving about 40 mph and based on air bag module, car sped up to 55 mph. The steering wheel and the brake seemed to be locked or stuck because neither component worked while this malfunction occurred. Driver tried to press the brake to slow the car down, but brake would not press down. Also tried to turn steering wheel to avoid oncoming westbound traffic, but steering wheel did not work either. Driver had absolutely no control of vehicle. The car accelerated and veered left for about a quarter of a mile until it finally hit a curb, then front passenger side wheel, rotor, and suspension broke. It seemed as if car was still trying to accelerate after it hit the curb because there are skid marks from the tires after impact. When the car stopped, the steering wheel and the brake pedal were no longer stuck. The steering wheel rotated properly and brake pedal pressed down with ease. Because of broken wheel, car was not operable afterward and was towed to collision center. Complaint was filed with kia consumer affairs and inspection completed, but they said they did not find any errors with the car electrical system or any other errors. The air bag module report coincides with the malfunction claim that i filed with kia on the day of the incident, but kia stated there weren't any error codes in the report. After repairs and inspection were completed, i traded-in the vehicle out of fear that this malfunction may happen again. Since an issue wasn't found with the car, that means the issue wasn't fixed and i didn't want to own a malfunctioning vehicle.
The contact owns a 2016 kia optima. While driving 15 mph, the steering wheel became loose and the traction control and power steering warning indicators illuminated. The contact also mentioned that when turning left or right, a clicking noise was detected. In addition, the steering wheel would only allow the contact to turn approximately one inch to the left or right, and the steering wheel eventually seized. The vehicle was taken to south shore kia (1128 sunrise hwy, copiague, ny 11726, (631) 991-3910) where the contact was informed that the computer needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 2,843.
Steering wheel when turned to the right is very loose to the left very tight. Occassionally it locks completely causing vehicle to either be unable to turn or merge lanes, or even more dangerously causes the car to veer to the right with no ability to move it. This happens when the vehicle is on the highway typically at speeds or 55 or higher. The tightness/looseness usually happens at any speed or type of roadway.
Steering wheel locks while driving. Initially happened 1 year ago while driving. Had to use severe force to turn the wheel. I took the car to the kia dealership, who said they did see something on diagnostics; however, they could not duplicate the problem, so they could not fix the car. They kept & drove the car. They checked the coupling unit & contacted kia hotline but still could not find the problem, so they returned the car to me. On april 14th, while backing out of my parking space, the wheel again locked up. I jiggled the wheel and it released, so i pulled out & proceeded to drive. I reached the end of my street & wanted to turn & could not move the wheel. Luckily, i was still in my development with a 25mph zone, so i turned off the car. When i started it again, i could move the wheel, so i returned it to parking spot & had it towed into the dealership on april 15th. The dealer had the car for 8 days, drove it for 340 miles & still could not duplicate the issue, so they could not fix the problem. They returned the car to me & said if they cannot duplicate the issue, they cannot fix it. So i am now driving a car in fear that this will happen again & possibly when on a highway & at higher speed.
I have had the steering go out multiple times - reported it to kia where i lease from and a local shop.just happened again today (11/25/19) - it has happened at least 3 times in the last year - i have had it towed to the place i leased from as well.also, twice now - while driving the engine shuts off.very scary.as i stated, i have taken in and the kia dealerships say that they cannot not get it to duplicate, they treat me as i am making up.now reading that it does happen to others, i think this is an issue.i will not lease or buy another kia
We have owned the car about 2.5 years. 2 days ago i took it through a touch less car wash. Today i noticed the antenna cover/ shark fin is missing. I'm not sure if it came off during the wash or when i was driving. It appears the plastic screw holes have all broken off. The circuit board for the antenna is exposed. Looks to be a big flaw in manufacturing.

On 1/12/2020, i was driving my car 2016 kia optima from alpharetta to decatur to attend church. I pulled into the parking lot of the church and parked. A few seconds after i parked, i began seeing lots of smoke coming from the right passenger side of the car. The police men who were in the parking lot directing traffic asked me to get out of the car quickly and began attempting to quench the fire with a fire extinguisher. Shortly after, the dekalb fire dept arrived and fought to put out and contain the fire. It was then towed to the tow yard. I contacted my insurance company right away and after a few days of investigation, unfortunately, my car was deemed a total loss. Next day, i checked my vin # to see if there are any recalls by kia that i was not aware of, but the results came back saying 'no records' and '0 recalls found'. On 1/15/2020 at approximately 12.50pm, i contacted kia corporate and filed a complaint and i was informed when i gave my statement over the phone that there was an ' open campaign pi 1802 ecu upgrade' and as advised by the kia customer service rep that he will be forwarding my complaint to a the national dept and they will get back to me. A kia rep ashley contacted me and advised kia engineers will like to investigate what happened. After 3 weeks of waiting, the rep contacted me stating they will like to pay off remaining bal on my car, and personal items. They will not help me with getting another car and i declined because i lost everything and incurred a greater damage. Then the kia rep wrote me stating that they ill no longer pursue investigating since i refused accepting $1001 my left over balance owed to the lender. I am very disappointed on how kia has treated me leaving me hanging after such a great loss. I am seeking legal actions since kia has refused to come to a suitable resolution.
Shark fin antenna cover easily comes loose or completely while hand washing the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary in driveway while washing.
The antenna cover on my car flew off on the highway. I've noticed as i wash(handwash only) when i wipe around the antenna it moves. Thought this was odd, but assumed it was normal. I was driving back to work on the highway(03/17/21) the legal speed limit(65mph)when a tractor-trailer passed me causing a wind gush. I heard something hit the hood of my car. When i arrived at work, i saw that the antenna cover was completely gone. Noticed the plastic around the mounting screws were all broken off partially or completely. I went on the internet to find a replacement antenna. I found a group chat with many kia owners complaining of the exact issue. One owner posted a tsb(sa272) for 2016 kia optima being recalled for defects in the antenna fin assembly for screws loosening or breaking. The bulletin stated that owners of said kia optima could bring the vehicle to a kia dealership and the antenna would be replace free of charge by kia motors for parts and labor. I called two kia dealership and later kia customer service. The csr said that she did not pull up a recall on my vehicle. I gave her the tsb number. A poster said his kia dealership replaced his 2016 kia optima broken antenna without charge. The csr said that your organization would have to initiate/order the recall and list my model of the 2016 kia optima in order for them to replace the defective antenna at no cost. I have the expensive model, the 2016 kia optima(sxl turbo) w/technolgy package why wasn't my 2016 model not listed with the other 2016 kia optima? the dealership says it costs over $500 to replace the antenna. Said the entire assembly has to be replaced. I was rear ended while stopped in breakdown lane of a secondary highway (40 mph) problem that i would like to address is the inadequate cushioning in the headrests of this car and probably many others. Suffered a concussion the effects of which are still ongoing. I think that there needs to be standards applied to headrests to have energy absorbing cushioning.
Rear drivers side door handle fell off, looking on the internet this seems to be a huge problem with this 2016 kia optima and vehicles. This is a safety issue and needs to be dealt with. The part is made with cheap plastic. You can tell it is made to fail. I was just going to load groceriesback seat when handle fell off. Now can not use that door.
As driving the driver's door popped open (as not fully closed) and the open door light appeared on a dash. This has happened twice while driving. Once during normal driving and on the second occasion when i hit a pothole. I also noticed when opening the door, it doesn't open as smoothly. As i pull the door handle, the door basically pops open as if there was a force pushing it to open. Had the car for 3 years , no accidents and the problem started to appear just now
The hood is stuck. The cable seems to be stretched.when i did get it opened the cable was attached and could see it working but it's not unlatching hood. Hood is still stuck.
I bought my 2016 pearl white kia optima in may of 2016.recently, i noticed the paint chipping and peeling off my hood. It started out the size of a pea but now is bigger than a quarter and continues to get bigger by the day. I now have another spot that is chipping on the hood due from heavy rain this past week. The paint is also peeling or chipping on the roof right above where the front windshield meets. I expect nicks and chips from debris when hit while driving or parked, but not paint peeling off and chipping while it sits in my driveway with no threat of damage.

On may 30, 2017 at approximately 1200hrs est, while driving under normal conditions with very light traffic the sunroof exploded. Complete inspection was negative for the any exterior debris as cause. Vehicle was in motion on highway.photos are available upon request.
When i took my vehicle into the car wash, as soon as i pulled in, i heard a sound that didn't sound the best. Once i got to the end of it, when the air was blowing off my car, i saw something fly off my car. This was my manufacture fin shark antenna that had some how broke off. Upon further research, i have discover this common occurrence within this vehicle. Both, most commonly while in car washes and while driving. So, it this could possibly be inspected and recalled, that would be great.
I rented a vehicle from fair/uber under a california promotion. In the understanding the vehicle was uber ready. Three weeks into using the car squeezing brakes let me to the authorised shop for maintanence. It was inspected and what was found made this vehicle unsafe. I could not use it for its purpose. To drive it for uber. I have snap shots of the condition of the brakes and rotors. The shocks or struts are also shot and the coolant resivior was close to empty. The two front tires also were recomended to be replaced as they were cupping. This vehicle had not been inspected prior to there releasing it to me for any safety issues prior and when the invoice was sent to donlen, 3 times, which took a whole day, was fully denied. Refusal to correct this safety issue. This car is still in this condition. It was removed from pep boys on mission george by myself. The next day at 5:06 pm i received an email from fair suggesting i take it to another approved shop. I realised that this was not my duty or my problem. I could just return the vehicle. I was i am done with this company. It was going to be a 3 day job in the shop. And fair told me repeatedly that they had no ability to prevent me from having to pay for the week it was disabled. I'll start with the windows. Prior to covid my right rear passenger window motor and regulator went out. Citrus kia fixed it. Right after covid was announced my front right passenger window went out and i couldnt get my car in. 2 weeks later my front left driver window went out. When i finally got my car in they told me i was 200 miles over on my warranty to fix it. I havent had the use of either of my front windows for months. They dropped randomly going down the road. If i dont leave something wedged in the window they drop so far i have to use duct tape to adhere to it and pull up enough to grab it. Its definitely a safety issue that i cannot use my windows. And i dont know what is going on with the drive train , axle and suspension but i am eating through brand new tires every couple months. The dealership blamed it on me and seriously asked me if i was jumping curbs. I have had so many issues with this car since the motor got replaced. Not to mention my heat doesnt work unless its in defrost mode. The dealership knows about all these ongoing issues. Karen is my service advisor. I even tried to trade my car in with them and they turned it down. This car is falling apart and i am only one month away from having it for 4 years. I am the only owner it has had
Driving at highway speeds the car has very tight steering and car drifts all over lane. I am always making corrections. Feel like rack and pinion is failing. Car only has 31,000 miles on it.
The windows fall on their own and not operative while driving. It has happened to me twice so far and took the car to dealer. I am trying not to lower my windows at all for now. It is serious when it rains & water gets inside the car, i live in florida and it rains a lot. Any solution ?
Having trouble with my driverside window it let's down but will not let back up i called kia and they want over 200.00 to diagnose it plus labor to fix it from what i have been reading online alot of people are having the same issue
I have been experiencing issues with my 2016 kia optima since i purchased it on september, 5th 2016. A short time after owning my new vehicle, first the car started to hesitate when starting as if it was struggling to start, the push button would turn red and the indicator lights would light up on the dashboard as if the key was not recognized in the car. The car would also self accelerate. On or around august 16th or 17th the car stalled out while it was being driven,we attempted to restart the car and it turned on like normal so the tow was canceled. , the service writer & kia all have copies of the videos the mechanic has also told me he was able to duplicate the issue, the solution was to change the fuel pump and service the fuel delivery system. Upon the services being completed we were contacted by the service manager, and kia that the car was ready to be picked up on september 6th 2017. While driving the vehicle home we noticed some hesitation while idle, also some strong acceleration when taking off from red-light or stop sign. While parked we noticed some strong vibration from the motor which the car had not had previously before service. Also after several attempts of starting the car, the car would either start rough, and also still had the same original occurrence as before with the key not being recognized in the car. With the car not fully starting and the push button turning red with the instrument panel lighting up with the key not in car light along with some others. On thursday september 7th, 2017 at about 4:30pm i had the cruise control set to 80 mph, the car hesitated a couple times, then self decelerated to 73 mph, reaccelerated to 82 mph then self adjusted to 80 mph, i contacted the dealership right after the occurrence i was told i had to wait to bring the car back in they had no loaner vehicles, not to use the cruise control feature.

The front passenger side makes rumbling/rattling noise when driving. It is sporadic but sounds like it is coming from something related to the tires. It is hard to take for a diagnose because you never know when it's going to happen. It sounds like something vibrating under the hood. I checked and everything is intact. This isn't a one time thing, it happens often.
Takata recall - my car is starting to stall for some reason but there isn't a check engine light on. Mechanics cannot understand what might be causing it. This happens as i drive on streets and on highways.
The cars headlights turn off while driving under normal conditions. This has happened at least four times in a one month period. This is extremely dangerous as some areas are not well lit or an oncoming car may not see us. I have looked online and i see that this very same issue is occurring with this make and model dating back 6 or more months. It makes no sense that thebulbs would be defective since all lights go off and come back on randomly.
Since i had the car in aug2016 brand new when i give it gas the valves ping and peak extremely bad not matter what fuel i use also the ac keeps loosing power it will blow fine then it almost goes off while still driving the same speed. Three of the window regulators failed at the same time and the forth two weeks later.i had them repaired for a almost $ 2000 since the the vehicle has 62k miles and the warranty was good till 60k miles.
I was driving in the evening at 25-30mph on a city street. There were no parked cars, no oncoming traffic, no pedestrians or bicycles for three blocks ahead of me. Without any forward collision warning or road hazard, my car's autonomous emergency braking (aeb) system initiated and applied full braking force to my car for no reason. The car beeped continuously and flashed a red "emergency braking" notification in the dash console. The vehicle anti-locking braking system engaged in response to the applied braking from the aeb. I was unable to control or stop the braking during the event. Once the car was fully stopped, the red dash notification stopped, the beeping stopped and i was able to move my car to the side of the road so traffic behind me could proceed.
Vehicle was fine, stopped at a stop light, engine shut off without warning, no lights on dashboard, and turned off.

In august 2018 i noticed that the camera on the front grille of my 2016 kia optima was producing a blurry image.it did not do this the night prior when i used the camera to park in my garage (where i did not hit or bump anything, i was not even near the wall at the front of the garage).the lens had a crack.some context: this happened before in 2017 and the kia dealership in mcdonough, ga repaired it as a warrant item.i took the car to the dealership, where the service representative named jose camacho said they they would cover it as a warrant time and that i would not have to pay for it.they just needed to order the part and would call me when it arrived.i never received a call, so when i called the dealership in september 2018 i was told that the claim was denied as a normal wear and tear problem and that they should never have replaced it the first time.i was told that if i wanted to disputed it, i would need to call kia consumer affairs.kia consumer affairs told me that they would check with the dealership and after a few weeks, i called them back and they said the dealership wanted my to come back.i called the dealership and they asked for me to bring the car in so they could take pictures.while i was there i ask what the odds where that the camera lens would crack twice with no visible damage to the camera unit, the grille or the bumper, the service manager justin, told me it wasn't likely.i notified them that there was a 3 page forum on the internet where other kia optima owners have reported the same problem, in fact, if you do a simple google search for kia optima cracked lens, it is the first search result.i asked why this is not a recall item, and they shrugged there shoulders and said they didn't know why.they then said they would submit the pictures and i would get a call back from kia consumer affairs.it was denied, no reason.
My break service light keep coming on and it's making a noise like it's a honda i took it back to ganas service and week later the break light back on
On wednesday morning driving to my work the sunroof exploded was a big sound ,this explosion terrifies me and thanks god i didn't lost it the control of the car. Immediately i drove to the right side to stop the car and trying figure out what happened.i saw big hole at the sunroof ,i did not know what to do .i called to my insurance and explain what happen if i need to call to police for this incident,they said is not necessary but we need to kia dealer because could a factory problem. Upon filling up the car the gas nozzle never shuts off until gas (a lot of gas) is pouring out of the tank.even trying to fill it up on your own holding the handle it pours out when full. Leaves gas every where down the car spraying the person putting the gas in.ruining the paint on the car.
All four of my car windows fall down unexpectedly due a defect in the window regulator part, and window motor. The windows do not respond to door controls and i've now had to spend approx. $3500. And many trips to the dealer repair shop to get these windows fixed. I live in florida, and when a window opens unexpectedly in the middle of a severe rain storm and cannot be closed, this is a safety hazard. I've had to pull over when there is very limited visibility on the road, and try, usually unsuccessfully, to close the window. The glass windows are fairly heavy and my attempts to tape them shut do not work. I've contacted kia consumer affairs and have filed a complaint with the better business bureau, but so far kia has done nothing and has not responded to the bbb (according to the last bbb email i received). The 4th window is being fixed today at the dealer, and another window is getting re-repaired, i don't know if any of the repairs will last, as every few months another window breaks.

24 days after an oil change, the oil light came on. I checked the oil level and it was empty. I'm wondering where 5qts of oil went in 24 days. There are no visible leaks on the undercarriage.
As i were driving on the highway in e. Ky i lost control over the car all of a sudden. I tried to adjust right and left with no hope. I crossed the medium to the other lane, hit a log truck and then my car flipped on its back on the medium. The whole thing started on the straight part before reaching the curve. Miraculousl,y nothing happened to me or the truck driver. I still feel that something went wrong. Insurance estimator said my side is so bad he can't tell if there was a problem.

I started having problems with the oil disappearing not long after i got the new car kia optima year about february 2017 i keep pouring everyday more and more oil as i drive but it disappears.on or about august 28,2020, i received an email for a kia engine class action settlement federal court that advises suffer from a defect that can cause engine seizure, stalling engine failure and fire etc. And that the engine can be dangerous kia have been found liable for these claims. They said they gave me extra warranty but if it catches on fire or explodes then they would not help me and by then it is too late!!i told them that i am scared since i am a girl and keep adding oil and you never know what the engine machine malfunction can do. I could check the oil before going some where but you never know when the oil will all of a sudden disappear completely it is unpredictable.i have called kia manufacture phone at 1-855-951-0807and they are giving me the round around i am afraid to drive the car that one day it may do something and catch on fire. Since i bought 2016 kia optima ex, there has being windows problem on this model. Either window regulator or module panel or some thing else cause windows to drop down while your driving, or malfunction does not operate at all. At least 4 times i took to dealer to fix it, but in short period of time happens again, it is not one window happens to all of them. I am sick & tired of going to dealer to waste my time. It is serious problem with kia and should redesign the operating window system.

Was exiting the freeway, came to a stoplight, and as continuing with driving the check engine light starts blinking and was not able to accelerate, as if it was slipping. Car would not go over around 30 mph until feeling the car not able to accelerate again. I used a code reader and got code p1326, which i had looked up and says it has something to do with a knock sensor detection system. Had bring my car in to get it checked out and was told my car had low oil, about 2 quartz. I do regular oil changes though and had done an oil change a few weeks prior. The shop i went to told me there may be a service campaign for the car. Was told specific years have had engine problems with oil, losing oil although no leaks or signs.
Letter from congressman earl l buddy carter on behalf of constituent, regarding issues with a kia purchased in savannah, georgia. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle has experienced various issues including the battery being replaced 5 times in 8 months, multiple engine issues, electrical issues and a lack of acceleration. The consumer also stated, while driving with the cruise control activated, the vehicle would speed up to catch up to the designated speed and come in to close contact with the vehicle ahead. The failure is intermittent.
Intermittently car will shudder (jerk forward and slow, jerk forward and slow) many times when accelerating, either from a stop or while accelerating from low speeds (less than 45mph) it seems possible gear changing is not smooth. And can be dangerous when attempting to merge into traffic as car does not accelerate as it should. Have taken the car to kia who report that nothing was wrong with car when they test drove it. Problem seems worse when it is hot or cold outside.
The driver door lock does not work. It is the only door that will not lock sometimes. Other times it is the only door that will not unlock. The cruise control does not always want to work. It will say cruise but will not let me set it.
Engine rumbles like it is about to die intermittently when i let off the brake and before i press the gas after being stopped in traffic on city streets. I often have to press the gas pedal half way down to get it to gain speed on city streets, it feels sluggish, and shifting does not feel very smooth.
Mid september, 2020, i began to notice that my headlights would turn off as i was driving. They would cut off for no more than 15 seconds and turn back on. I didn't think anything of it, until i started having issues with other components of my 2016 kia optima. On 11/30/2020 i was driving at 30mph through a residential area. As i was approaching a stop sign, my engine light came on. When i tried to accelerate, the car began to jump and hesitate. No matter how far down i pushed the gas, the care was jumping/shaking and wold not accelerate over 20mph. I pulled into an autozone where they ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle. Error code p1326 (knock sensor) came up. The next morning, i called coastal kia of wilmington in north carolina and explained to them what had happened. They sent an employee to pick up my vehicle (12/01/2020). They inspected my vehicle and informed me that the protocol was to perform a bearing clearance test and ecu upgrade. I picked up my car on 12/02/2020. A week later, i called the dealership again and informed them that although my engine light had not come back on, the acceleration issue was still occurring. I asked if they would look at the car again, to which they said no, that they cannot take a further look at it until the engine light came back on. On 12/20/2020 i was driving 40mph when my car began to stutter uncontrollably. The following morning i called kia again to inform them what had happened, and they agreed to take a look at it. On 12/22/2020 they called me and said that my car was burning oil and smoking excessively. They opened a tech case with kia and informed me that they could not do anything to the car until they heard back from them. On 12/23/2020 they called me again to tell me that the issue was not covered under a recall, and that my next step would be to replace my engine.
Since i had the car in aug2016 brand new when i give it gas the valves ping and peak extremely bad not matter what fuel i use also the ac keeps loosing power it will blow fine then it almost goes off while still driving the same speed. Also sometimes when this happens i have a miss or hesitation in the engine.there has also been a pop noise in the back end when i stop or slow down since i have had the vehicle.i have taken my car 6 times to the local dealer in chas wv where i purchased the car and they keep saying they can't dignose the problem they have to contact kia and never have an answer wheh i take the car back or contact them.
When the car encounters a hill and needs to downshift, either to climb or to hold back the speed when it descends, the cruise control remembers the downshift and will not return to high gear untila) it is manually overridden, but will still downshift up to 2 gears, when the lever is placed back to automaticor, b) when the cruise control is turned off.the cruise control also belatedly reacts to loss of speed control and overcorrects with too much power, resulting in a crude ride, as well.the workload is increased dealing with getting the car to attain top gear on flat roads, and is creating unsafe conditions, in my opinion.i have attempted to get this attended to at the dealership, and they continue to not fix the issue, as well as inform me i shouldn't be using cruise control on hills.my 2014 kia optima did not exhibit these issues, nor any other of my cars which had cruise control.there is a problem and these people will not fix it.the consumer stated the heat does enter the foot well area.
While driving the car the fuel consumption in the motor would bog the engine down to where it would barely go over 40 mph on the highway. At this time the engine trouble indicator light would come on and not go off. I immediately took it to the local kia dealership in mt. Hope, wv.. The mechanic changed out the sensor that showed up on his meter and the engine seemed to do good while in the shop but when they backed it out of the shop bay, another sensor lighr came on. Ever since i had my car serviced about 3 weeks ago my car has been sluggish and acceleration has weakened, also i'm getting poorer gas mileage. The recall that was fixed has greatly reduced the performance of my vehicle.
I have been experiencing issues with my 2016 kia optima since i purchased it on september, 5th 2016. A short time after owning my new vehicle, first the car started to hesitate when starting as if it was struggling to start, the push button would turn red and the indicator lights would light up on the dashboard as if the key was not recognized in the car. The car would also self accelerate. On or around august 16th or 17th the car stalled out while it was being driven,we attempted to restart the car and it turned on like normal so the tow was canceled. , the service writer & kia all have copies of the videos the mechanic has also told me he was able to duplicate the issue, the solution was to change the fuel pump and service the fuel delivery system. Upon the services being completed we were contacted by the service manager, and kia that the car was ready to be picked up on september 6th 2017. While driving the vehicle home we noticed some hesitation while idle, also some strong acceleration when taking off from red-light or stop sign. While parked we noticed some strong vibration from the motor which the car had not had previously before service. Also after several attempts of starting the car, the car would either start rough, and also still had the same original occurrence as before with the key not being recognized in the car. With the car not fully starting and the push button turning red with the instrument panel lighting up with the key not in car light along with some others. On thursday september 7th, 2017 at about 4:30pm i had the cruise control set to 80 mph, the car hesitated a couple times, then self decelerated to 73 mph, reaccelerated to 82 mph then self adjusted to 80 mph, i contacted the dealership right after the occurrence i was told i had to wait to bring the car back in they had no loaner vehicles, not to use the cruise control feature.

While driving about thirty miles per hour in traffic i heard a bang and my sunroof exploded.thankfully the sun shade was closed or shards of glass would have hit me. The car behind me swervedprobably to avoid the glass. It was scary and i initially thought an accident had occurred. The manufacturer needs to figure out how this happened and change the design to prevent it.

The right rear window suddenly rolled down while driving. Checks reveal that the motor that controls the upward/downward movement was inoperable. I took it to the dealer and they confirm the motor needed changing. I explained to them that i am the only user of the car and the back seat has never been used, they still charged $650 to replace the motor. Six months later the same thing happened to the rear left window. I am not in a position to pay another $650, soi tried to place paper in the space to hold the glass in place. Now today the right front glass just rolled down while driving. I spoke with a kia driver i saw in the parking lot at walmart and he stated that he had similar problems.

I rented a vehicle from fair/uber under a california promotion. In the understanding the vehicle was uber ready. Three weeks into using the car squeezing brakes let me to the authorised shop for maintanence. It was inspected and what was found made this vehicle unsafe. I could not use it for its purpose. To drive it for uber. I have snap shots of the condition of the brakes and rotors. The shocks or struts are also shot and the coolant resivior was close to empty. The two front tires also were recomended to be replaced as they were cupping. This vehicle had not been inspected prior to there releasing it to me for any safety issues prior and when the invoice was sent to donlen, 3 times, which took a whole day, was fully denied. Refusal to correct this safety issue. This car is still in this condition. It was removed from pep boys on mission george by myself. The next day at 5:06 pm i received an email from fair suggesting i take it to another approved shop. I realised that this was not my duty or my problem. I could just return the vehicle. I was i am done with this company. It was going to be a 3 day job in the shop. And fair told me repeatedly that they had no ability to prevent me from having to pay for the week it was disabled. I'll start with the windows. Prior to covid my right rear passenger window motor and regulator went out. Citrus kia fixed it. Right after covid was announced my front right passenger window went out and i couldnt get my car in. 2 weeks later my front left driver window went out. When i finally got my car in they told me i was 200 miles over on my warranty to fix it. I havent had the use of either of my front windows for months. They dropped randomly going down the road. If i dont leave something wedged in the window they drop so far i have to use duct tape to adhere to it and pull up enough to grab it. Its definitely a safety issue that i cannot use my windows. And i dont know what is going on with the drive train , axle and suspension but i am eating through brand new tires every couple months. The dealership blamed it on me and seriously asked me if i was jumping curbs. I have had so many issues with this car since the motor got replaced. Not to mention my heat doesnt work unless its in defrost mode. The dealership knows about all these ongoing issues. Karen is my service advisor. I even tried to trade my car in with them and they turned it down. This car is falling apart and i am only one month away from having it for 4 years. I am the only owner it has had
