The front passenger airbag deactivation light remains lit when there is a passenger in the front seat. This problem has existed from the time we purchased the car to the present.problem is intermittent but frequent, so there is no trust that a front seat passenger is protected at any given time.we were told to drive the car into the dealer when the light was on, which we did. Dealer questioned the weight of passenger (not the issue), then replaced the bladder in the seat and suggested to front seat passenger to "sit squarely & properly" in the seat. Then told us when this happens again, to execute the following sequence:stop & turn off car, undo seat belt, get out, get back in, close door, buckle up and restart car, "and see if the light stays off".totally unrealistic on an interstate or in traffic. Sometimes we have done the recommended sequence 4-5 times before the light stays off. Indicator may start off dark and then light up after several minutes, a half hour or several hours of continuous driving.we have returned to the dealer several times for this issue and were told that the car was performing according to manufacturer specifications.there was a recall for the driver air bag but nothing for the passenger air bag.the internet has pages and pages of complaints about this issue.kia turns a deaf ear or they just don't know how to fix this.8 years of the same problem is too long and there is no way i can afford a new car.somebody please push them to investigate this problem and find a solution before someone dies.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.the contact stated the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle.the dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 40,533 and the current mileage was 40,353.

My check engine light keeps coming on. At first it would go off and on with no code. Now it stays on with the code p0420 for the catalytic converter. Also i heard about an air bag recall

I bought this kia optima new.the "passenger airbag off" light would frequently illuminate, even when a passenger was in the front passenger seat.i asked several kia dealerships about this at several different times, nothing was done about it.now, at about 73,000 miles- the red "air bag" light on the dash came on, and stayed on permanently.i took it in to the local kia dealership, they charged me over $100 to diagnose, and if i had the repair done, the diagnostic would be waived.they called me a few hours later and informed me that the ocs computer (not just the ocs mat in the passenger seat, but the entire computer) was not functioning, and needed to be replaced.they said this would cost in the neighborhood of $2200.i didn't have the dealership do this repair for 2 reasons... 1) because the car is worth only $2-3,000 in the first place.2) because even if i did pay the dealership to repair it, who's to say that it would actually be fixed? after all, there are many reports of air bag lights in kia optimas, and even of crashes where the airbags didn't deploy.i'd either like the airbags to be repaired, or get rid of the car, but it only has 75,000 miles on it, which is a shame.i can't sell it to anyone- who wants to buy a car without airbags?oh, now the tpms sensor is on as well.i did try replacing the fuses to the airbag system and the tpms system, new fuses did not change anything.the car only has 75,000 miles on it today.it is still under the powertrain warranty, but not the bumper to bumper, which was 5 years and 60,000 miles.however, i feel that airbags should be covered.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.while driving 30 mph, the anti-lock brakes failed.the contact veered off the road, drove into the embankment, and struck a tree.the rear end of the vehicle spun around and a tree crashed through the windshield.the vehicle flipped over and landed upright.the air bags failed to deploy.a police report was filed.the vehicle was presumed to be completely destroyed.kia stated that they would send out a representative to determine why the air bags and antilock brakes failed.the wife sustained bruises and all the occupants were wearing their seat belts properly.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 11,000. Updated 02-12-08 bf * the consumer stated does not feel fairly compensated for the loss of the vehicle due to the defect. Updated 02/12/08

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the loose pin fitting air bag connector failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.

The passenger airbags have never worked properly. The indicator stays on most of the time when a passenger is sitting in the seat. Kia dealers were told about this over the years, but nothing was done about it. They tried to convince us that passenger was not sitting in the seat properly, and needed to sit a certain way for it to work.

2007 kia optima air bag warning light stay on and will not go out until the engine is shutoff. There have been numerous of complaints to kia concerning this problems.this is a safety issue and kia needs to fix the problems. Nhtsa please investigated kia air bag warning light problems.

Back when the clock spring had a recall we had it fixed, shortly after the repair the airbag light came back on they told us it was up to us to repair with a costly bill. Our state inspection ran out and the car was rejected due to the airbag light being on. They ran diagnosis and it came back to the ocs sensor mat in the passenger seat, that will cost me $1800. I did some research on this issue and found that there are other optima owners with this same issue.there is a recall on this part in the same year ranges on the rio. I would bet they used the same brand and sensor in probably all the cars in these years, so why only recall one model ? this is clearly a safety issue that needs to be the responsibility of the manufacturer, and they know and understand this due to them having one recall out already. I don't feel i should pay to have my car repaired when rio owners don't for the same safety issue.

The air bag just came on a couple days ago . It hasn't been in an accident or anything.the suspension is rough when driving over the smallest thing in the road.sometimes it just makes a little jump when it tasked gas.

Takata recall. My air bag light came on in the summer of 2017 and hasn't gone out since. I have never hit anything to make the air bag light come on. I have had several places hook my car to their testing machines and nothing comes up on their machine.

Air bag dash board light came on.before this the passenger sensor would be hit or miss.dealership says there is a short in the sensor in the passenger seat cushion and it needs to be replaced for $1400.00.it cost me $60 just for them to tell me about this problem.there are way too many other people having the same issue for this to be ok.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.the contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicator would illuminate intermittently.the failure occurred 75% of the time and he could never determine when it would illuminate or dim.he took the vehicle to the dealer four times within two years, but they could never duplicate the failure and provide a remedy.the manufacturer stated that they would collect service records and get back with him.the current mileage was approximately 11,800 and failure mileage was approximately 100.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle veered to the left and the contact lost control and crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the back , neck and left arm that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000. ....updated 04/08/15

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.while driving 50 mph, the vehicle slid and struck a guardrail while avoiding another vehicle.the roads were wet due to rainy conditions.after striking the rail, the front end slid and the passenger side was damaged.none of the air bags deployed.the vehicle had to be towed to a shop and was considered to be destroyed by the insurance company.the contact stated that due to the severity of the crash, the air bags should have deployed and may have failed due to a defect in the vehicle.a police report was filed.the current and failure mileages were 33,000.updated 11-25-08

I have already taken myoptima to the dealer for this recall already and they fixed the recall the first time, but i took it again last week for the same thing and now they are telling me that i have to pay for a diagnostic fee so they can tell me what the problem is ? the problem is that the dealer wants to charge me for something that they know what it is and it is a defect and they want me to pay for it. This a recall and they need to fix it and not me pay for it....

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. While driving approximately 35 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the passnger seat sensor mat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

Air bag srs light stays on.... Talked to dealer.. They said kia haven't recall this part yet. The passenger air bag senor in the seat need to be reset.vehicle can't pass inspection.

How many people must lose their lives in order for the government to issue a mandatory inspection of kia manufacturing plants regarding air bag failures. I own two kia vehicles and both of them have the main air bag light illuminated on the dash. A recent visit to the dealer added insult to injury when they indicated that it would cost $1500.00 to replace a passenger seat due to a internal short of the ocs/mat airbag system. This is not acceptable. My wife and daughter are driving vehicles with airbag failures from day one of purchase. Kia must be standing in line for future lawsuits.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that the passenger seat air bag indicator illuminated. The dealer reset the passenger seat air bag indicator on approximately three occasions, but the failure would recur less than thirty miles later. After a recent oil change, a different air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000. Updated 01/05/17*lj

"takata recall"i was driving on highway and my air bag light just came on.

Purchased my kia optima new in 07.. For the past 5 months the dashboard air bag sensor has been on.i called the dealership, they said there is nothing they can do for it and that more than likely its just the sensor and the air bags should deploy when they are suppose to.. I also was told that if the light is on that means the air bags are not going to deploy. So basically there is nothing anyone can do and who knows if it is going to work!

I was driving to work and my drivers side airbag came on. A few months prior, we had to replace the o2 sensorbecause the check engine light was on. Now on the second day with the airbag light on, the check engine light came back on! is it bad wiring, will my airbag not work?

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. While driving 45 mph, the air bag light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was referred to the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 115,419.

I just had the clock springrecall fixed, and i am being told that the ocs sensor mat in the passenger seat, that will cost me $1600. I did some research on this issue and found that there are other optima owners with this same issue. There is a recall on this part in the same year ranges on the rio. I would bet they used the same brand and sensor in probably all the cars in these years, so why only recall one model ? this is clearly a safety issue that needs to be the responsibility of the manufacturer, and they know and understand this due to them having one recall out already. I don't feel i should pay to have my car repaired when rio owners don't for the same safety issue.my car will not pass inspection with the airbag light on.kia should be responsible for replacing this sensor to keep my family safe while driving.they designed this faulty sensor in the passenger seat and don't have an affordable way to fix it.other than this issue my car in great shape. Hoping you will advocate for the safety of our family. Thank you

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.the contact stated that when small framed passengers occupy the front passenger seat, the air bag warning light illuminates on the instrument control panel.this indicates that the front passenger side air bag is inoperative and may not inflate in the event of a crash that merits air bag deployment.the failure may result in injury to the passenger.the dealer stated that his model was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 08v161000 (air bags), although the failures were identical.currently, the dealer is replacing the seat assembly, which contains the air bag sensors.the failure and current mileages were 23,000. Updated 09/13/08.*ljthe seat belt was replaced.

I have notified kia customer service to no avail. I also notified nhtsa a while back and no follow up nor any recalls. Affected area is front passenger side seat which affected and shows air bag is off when some is sitting on the seat. Please issue a recall.

I had a recall on the airbag appx 5 yrs ago (could be less). I took csr in andmonths later the airbag light came on again and hasn't went off. I've checked in recalls and nothing indicated. Should i be responsible for the cost to repair, being i took it in once on a recall and same thing happened again.. I put in date below but i don't know when it happened..

Despite there being a voluntary warranty extension on the part of kia for the occupancy sensor mat, they refuse to replace mine because the code it is displaying is not the same as the code specified in their voluntary extension. The ocs mat in my car does not function properly and when adults are seated in the passenger seat the airbag system remains off.

The air bag light stays on all the time 1 the passenger airbag light will say on with an adult sitting in the seat!!1 visors do not stay up! headlights are very dim . I've changed them out to a few different types still dim cannot see at night

I have a 2006.5 kia optima ex that had a six year, sixty thousand mile full warranty and a ten year, one hundred thousand mile powertrain warranty. At some point after the six year warranty expired, but prior to the one hundred thousand mile warranty expiration, the airbag warning light came on when i started the car. I took it to the dealership who " determined internal failure to passenger seat mat $1875 to repair..."i declined the repair due to the cost and value of the car at that time. I and suggested that the cost of repair should be absorbed by kia. I called the kia customer assistance number and was told that my complaint would be reviewed by management and they would contact me regarding their decision. I subsequently heard back from kia that they would not provide any assistance. They advised me that my only recourse was to contact the dealer and see if they would provide some special discount on the purchase of a new car. This was not a feasible alternative at the time. I am now stuck with a car that has a major safety malfunction, as indicated by a brightly illuminated warning light on the dash. This not only affects the safety of the passenger but depreciates the value of the car by 50%. I realize that many systems on an automobile over the years, however, this particular malfunction is unacceptable. I think the recent recall of millions of automobiles for airbag failure, regardless of age or mileage, demonstrates kia's culpability in this case. I would appreciate any assistance you may provide.

Numerous times i have notified kia on air issues and they fall deaf ears. Car with less than 100, 000 miles and air bag light is on. It seems that kia has no concern on auto safety. Please issue a recall on this issue before someone actually dies from this defective product.

Air bag light came on/ would not go in gear.

My low beam lights have no visibility and i have been researching online used headlight assembly because it costs $400 for both sides that i dont have i replaced my low and high beam bulbs the high beams work just fine but as i was doing research a high percentage of this make and model have the same reoccurring problem i seen where they have recalled 2011 and up for this problem but i guess decided to not worry about the older models i can understand that but that is my only means of transportation for work and my daughters now it is getting darker earlier and i can't afford to drive around with my bright lights on and the air bag light will not go off

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The vehicle was parked with a passenger occupying the vehicle when the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted and when the contact would shut off the engine and restarted the vehicle, the light would shut off. The failure persisted intermittently. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer seven times. Two new seat bottoms were reprogrammed for the front passenger's seat in order to correct the failure. The failure mileage was 14,851 and the current mileage was 23,013. Updated 08/11/10. *ljupdated 08/17/10

Air bag light comes on and won't turn off ... Other problem is both visors won't spring up flopped down ... The internet is buzzing about kia's lack of concern!!

I have seen numerous complaints on airbag issues pertaining to the 2007 kia optima and nothing has been done on this safety issue. I have filed numerous times goes on deaf ears. I will be speaking to sen bill nelson on how long it takes for a recall to be issues especially on this vehicle. I have seen complaints on this issues piling up.

Air bag lights com on with no accidents involved. I called kia customer service and they stated that it was my issue not theirs. I have filed previous time and yet no answer from anyone. Kia owner are being left out on these recalls on air bags. They had in the past recalls on the same issue. Air bags.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that his vehicle was repaired under recall nhtsa campaign number: 12v014000 (air bags) but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

I have a kia optima 2007, i bought it brand new in 2007. The air bag light is on and they have not fixed it under warranty at all. Also the engine light has come on and they will not fix that as well. I have had to change the rotors on the car only a year into driving it. The air bags will not deploy in the event there is a crash which is a danger to me and my kids. I have tried to reason with kia and they want nothing to do with me at all.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver and passenger side air bag lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

Light turned on for air bag while turn vehicle on. No accident. Called kia on this issue. And explained to them that there was a recall on this before sc0094. And they stated that they were sorry but that campaign is over. So they showed no concern on airbag safety. Updated 3/18/2015.

We own a 2007 kia optima.the passenger side airbag dashboard indicator light continuously shows that the airbags are in the off position which means that they may not deploy during a collision.we took our new car to the dealer where it was purchased twice and was told both times that the problem was a manufacturing "flaw" and that no repair was possible.they refused to even look at it.

At 63,000 miles, the red airbag light came on and stayed illuminated. Took it to the dealer, and they said the adult/child sensor needed to be replaced or neither front airbag would work. Estimate was $1,600 prepaid. Prior to this, no problem with airbag sensors in this vehicle.

In 2007 i purchased a new kia optima 4cyl automatic from a local dealer. Soon after, i discovered that the passenger airbag light would sometimes remain illuminated when there was a passenger in the seat, meaning that the airbag was off. Kia authorized dealer said that unless passenger is sitting in upright position exactly in the middle of the seat, the sensor will not work properly.we also noted that if passenger not sitting correctly at first couple of minutes of drive, but then reposition himself in upright position, sensor will not react and air bag will be off until car restarted. Dealer said that sensor is checking for passenger only once at the beginning of drive and does not re-check during the drive. It seems not logical - if i am picking up the passenger after hour of drive without turning the motor off, the sensor should sense the passenger and turn on the air bag.the dealers answer about upright position of passenger is nonsense - our nissan quest 2004 had the same problems and nissan company did voluntary recall and re-design the seat cushion sensor to the bigger and more sensitive one, so position of the passenger on the seat does not matter anymore. As i see from simple google search (just search for "kia optima passenger air bag problem"), there is a lot of customer's reports for the same problem. It looks like kia company found that design flaw for sorrento model, but i believe they will need to check optima 2007 as well.i've bought kia due to advertisement of kia car's 5-star safety rating, but now i am really concern about safety of my loved ones if they are on the passenger seat in my car.it is a quite dangerous car defect and i hope my complaint will speed up kia response to the potential life-threatening problem.

How many consumers have to complain about the air bags in 2007 kia optima (mostly passenger) before a recall is issued.this is a dangerous situation.i'vealready brought my vehicle to dealer during warranty period and they could not duplicate problem.what is the point of airbags if they don't deploy when needed?someone, if not already, will be seriously hurt or killed.there are numerous complaints about the airbags, and those are just the ones that consumers took the time to report.what about the visors with the defective internal piece that shatters and leaves the visors in a hanging position.this is dangerous!!these issues have been going on since the vehicle was manufacturedand no recall was ever issued.again, these are severe safety issues.what does it take and how many complaints and injuries does it take to have a manufacturer correct a safety issue?

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.while driving 40 mph, the passenger side air bag light remained illuminated.the dealer reprogrammed the switches, but the failure recurred.the light dims when the vehicle is shut off and restarted.the vehicle will be taken back to the dealer for inspection.he also stated that the radio antenna was malfunctioning and the radio stations have a lot of static.the manufacturer stated that the antenna was not the cause of failure.the current mileage was 100 and failure mileage was 50. Updated 01/09/08.*ljupdated 12/12/07

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.whenever an occupant was positioned in the front passenger seat, the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.the failure occurred 80% of the time when an occupant was detected.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing.the technician was unable to duplicate the failure.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on nine separate occasions for the identical failure, but there were no resolutions.the failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 27,000.

My 2007 kia optima has had both sun visors break making them unable to remain in the upward position. Initially the driver side visor broke and several months later the passenger side broke. It made it difficult to see traffic lights when stopped at an intersection so i held them up with straps. Now i cant use them to block the sun. I would replace them but they are expensive and i feel that this problem should not have occurred because they were used normally, i do not attach anything to the visors and they were usually up. Additionally when i sit in the passenger front seat the airbag light comes on indicating that the passenger airbag is off. This is supposed to only happen when there is no occupant in the seat. Im not sure why but it only seems to happen when i am in the seat. I wear my seatbelt and sit normally in the chair. This has happened since the car was bought used in 2008.

When my wife sits in the passenger side of our kia optima approximately 20% of the time the "airbag off" light does not turn off.we have followed instructions from the dealer on how to properly sit in the seat etc.we have had the dealer look at the vehicle twice and so far they have refused to fix it.

Passenger air bag does not activate when passenger is in seat.brought in to dealer, while still under warranty, could not find anything wrong.passenger visor broke and hangs in line of vision.researched and found this to be a common problem with this vehicle on both visors.there is a defective piece used in the arm of visor that shatters.this is a very dangerous problem, as the visor will not stay in upright position and drops down into line of vision.both of these issues are a common complaint of this vehicle.vehicle is no longer under warranty, therefore, can't afford to repair defective visor that should have been redesigned with stronger parts.

Front passenger airbag light remains illuminated approximately 60% of the time when seat is occupied by a passenger. This has been a problem since i purchased the car in april 2007.from all i have read on the internet, this is the most prevailing problem kia owners have.kia acknowledges this is true, but says this is simply how the system is designed.their only solution is that passengers must sit bolt upright and weigh over 130 pounds.they also advise me to turn the car off and restart it to "fix" the problem.not good!!!

When my wife sits in the passenger side of our kia optima approximately 20% of the time the "airbag off" light never turns off.we have followed the instructions from the dealer on how to properly sit in the seat etc.we have had the dealer look at the vehicle twice and so far they have refused to fix it.my wife's weight varies from 130-140lbs.at my first visit to the dealership they told me the weight limit was 110lbs.this past visit we were told the limit was 120lbs.i have been told by nhtsa that they test with a crash dummy weighing 108lbs so regardless my wife is well outside of the weight thresholds.this is a duplicate of original complaint 10299891.i was told by nhtsa that adding the weights of occupants would be beneficial to them.

In 2007 i purchased a new kia optima from coleman kia in trenton, nj. Soon after, i discovered that thepassenger airbag indicator light would sometimes remain illuminated even though there was an adult passenger in the seat, meaning that the airbag was not activated. The dealer performed a system check and determined that the system was performing to specifications. Shortly thereafter, the problem recurred. The dealer then said that they could not diagnose the problem unless the condition occurred in their presence.this time when the problem recurred i returned to the dealerwith my wife in the passenger seat. This time, the seat cushion assembly was replaced. The next time the problem occurred, the dealer provided me with a bulletin from kia outlining proper seating positions. I was also advised that if the problem recurred (which it did) that i should pull to the side of the road and turn the ignition off, have the passenger get out and then back in and then restart the car. This should allow the onboard computer to reset and (hopefully) recognize the presence of a front seat passenger.at this point, i contacted kia's regional office to file a complaint. The reference # is k1580673.an appointment was scheduled with kia's field technical representative. In the meantime, i was told to place a towel on the seat to more evenly distribute passenger weight?? on 07/30/09, kia's field tech inspected the car and determined the airbag system was operating to design intent. Since then, i have discovered numerous other consumer complaints documenting this problem. It is now clear that kia is well aware of this condition but has refused to acknowledge the flaw in the design of the system. So far, kia's only response is to cite improper seating positions. Needless to say, the position of the passengers torso, arms or legs should not prevent the passenger airbag system from operating properly.pleaseinvestigate this problem before a tragedy occurs....mark ludwig

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.the contact stated after purchasing the vehicle the air bag light came on indicating a faulty air bag module.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the entire wiring harness and air bag module. The contact stated after the vehicle was repaired the air bag light came on again.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer who stated they could not remedy the failure. The contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the faulty air bag.the failure mileage was 61,000.

The kia optima was purchased in august 2007.within a few weeks, the passenger air bag indicator light signals that the airbag is off as if there were no passenger when apassenger is present. This occurs even though there is a passenger weighing between 120 and 150 pounds properly seated in the passenger seat about 25%of the time over the last 2 months .often, but not always, the light goes out if the car is shut off and restarted.the car has been to the dealer for repair 5 times.seat harness connections were checked, the seat bottom was replaced and, most recently, the seat module wasincluding a "reprogrammed".however the failures continue. There is another repair appointment scheduled for october 15, 2007.passenger safety is at risk because the air bag will not deploy if the indicator light is on.

The kia optima was purchased in september 2007. Within a few days, the passenger air bag indicator light signals that the airbag is off as if there were no passenger when a passenger is present. This occurs even though there is a passenger weighing over 120 pounds properly seated in the passenger seat about 75% of the time over the last month . Service appointment scheduled for 11/13/07.

We purchased our 2007 kia optima this year in april and ever since we've had the car we've had issues with air bag sensor on the passenger side front seat.i ride in the passenger seat and about 30% of the time the air bag is off light doesn't turn off when i'm sitting in the seat, once i lift my rear end off the seat and put it back down then that light goes off.i've taken this in to the dealer once already and they said there was nothing apparently wrong, we brought the car home and within 2 days the problem was recurring.the car will be returned to the dealer for a second time with this issue, i just want my air bag to go off in the event of an accident, i believe that's fair.the last time we took it in they said there was nothing wrong with sensor according the computer, they reset the computer and sent us on our way.hopefully this time we'll be more satisfied with the conclusion of this serious problem.

Warning light for passenger air bags is defective to the extent that passenger must sit in seat an exact, certain way upon first entering vehicle.if said passenger does not position themselves correctly, sensors in seat will not analyze person correctly, and subsequently the air bags would not deploy in the event ofcrash. Kia dealers have received a bulletin from kia corp., pertaining to this matter, so several consumers have apparently noticed this rather serious issue and reported the problem. My vehicle recently was checked by a kimechanic for the formentioned problem, and found no history of failures in the system of my vehicle.

The passenger air bag warning light stays illuminated when my wife sits in the passenger seat.since she only weighs about 100 pounds i called kia their representative told me that it took 120m pounds to turn the light off.this does not sound correct to me.the vehicle is a 2007 kia optima.any help that you can give me will be greatly appreciated

As i was driving on the freeway today the car suddenly went from a speed pf 65 to 20 mph in the passing lane. I suddenly turned on the emergency lights to let the cars behind me know that their was a problem. Thank god i was hit and was able to pull the car over on the ramp. I called to have the car towed but in houston (this labor day) no one is able to look at the car so i was able to get it towed to auto zone. They ran a diagnostic and the tps (throttle position sensor) codes appeared. I was told only kia carries the part. I was so scared for my life and i don't want to ever be in that position again because my kids were in the car. I was reading complaints on several websites and it seems that this has been an ongoing problem for a while. It's sad that kia hasn't of yet issued a recall to fix this problem. Something has to be done about this as this was wake up call for me i can honestly say i thought i was going to lose my life when my car dropped dawn from speeds of 65 to 20. I have had problems with the car losing power but it would quickly regain power but nothing of this instance. Very scary situation for not only me but for the sake of my children that were present in the vehicle. Http://repairpal.com/faulty-throttle-position-switch-355 i just researched and found out they released a better performing part but others are still continuing to have the same problem even after the replacement part. Kia could of at least notified its customers of the problem rather than many of us finding out the hard way. There needs to be a recall immediately. The next person might not be so lucky.

While parking 2007 optima i was unable to put the vehicle in park or take out the key. The shifter linkage and cable had broken. I used the emergency brake to keep the vehicle from rolling.i took vehicle to dealer (summit kia, waterford, mi) they replaced the vehicle shifting linkage at a cost of $750.00. The dealer stated the cable broke and when i asked if the part was defective they stated that it was not unusual to have to replace this on the 2007 kia optima. The vehicle has 108,000 miles. In 40 years and many vehicles i have never had this go on any other vehicle i owned.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that the key would not turn when placed in the ignition switch and the steering wheel unexpectedly seized. After numerous attempts, the ignition key began to turn and the steering wheel unlocked. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

Vehicle burns out blinker bulbs and headlights at an extremely accelerated rate: one a month. Additionally, the wiring harness is heated to the point of being melted. This is a fire hazard. I believe this may be a voltage regulation or ground issue.

I was in a crash and i have to say that this is a problem. After i received my car back from the body shop the car has been malfunctioning ! the 2.7l has stumble on and at acceleration the failure is the throttle position switch this is a safety problem for all driver's that drive a 2007 kia optima. The malfunction occurs five times in one day. This problem may cause severe or fatal injuries to the occupants in the vehicle. Nothing was done to correct the failure and the old throttle position switch is available! i really thank that this is found to have a defect that affects safety and the automakers need voluntarily announce a recalls on all the 2007 kia optima that have the same throttle position switch as this vehicle.

Ever since we got this car it has been in 2 accidents due to the rain, when i started to look into what was causing this problem i noticed there is a hole in the plastic right below the oil filter. This allows water to get on the engine causing it to short power for the car. This in return causes the power steering to cease up making it nearly impossible to control the car, hence why it has been in two accidents; one that put my mother in the hospital a few years back. The last time this happened was yesterday but enough is enough, this flaw is a deadly problem.

2007 kia optima, cuts off will driving steering wheel locks up, unable to control the vehicle in anyway, then it turns it self back on. The ignition switch just shuts off. Very dangers.this is the third time this has happened, and have read several reports on this same problem. I dont want to die!

The headlights and brake lights/turn signal lights burn out repeatedly. At least one of them burns out every 2-3 months.

Had ongoing issues in which the car got "stuck" and would not accelerate past 25 mph, even if i "floored" it. I had to take my foot completely off the gas pedal, wait a few seconds (by then the car would be down to 10-15 mph), then try to accelerate again, which sometimes took several tries. I was very worried about getting into an accident when this happened because there was no warning and if you suddenly stop moving at the speed of traffic with no indication you are slowing down, you could easily be hit. In one case, i was trying to pass a slow-moving vehicle going 25 in a 40. I attempted to go around the vehicle, which should have been a pretty low-speed pass, as i only needed to get up to about 35 mph, but the car stopped accelerating at 25 and i could not get past. I had to take my foot off the gas, wait, try again, and repeat this a couple times before the car would accelerate again. This became a very scary situation because by that time, there was oncoming traffic approaching and i was literally stuck in the passing lane. I also had the car just completely lose power and shut off while i was at a red light at a busy urban intersection. Took it to a repair shop. They diagnosed it as a throttle position switch problem, and it cost almost $800 to get it fixed. At first i thought i just had bad luck, but i later found this message board in which people with this same model describe the exact same problems. Http://repairpal.com/faulty-throttle-position-switch-355 according to this, kia released a part to fix the situation. It seems that losing all power/the inability to accelerate in traffic poses a very serious safety concern. It bothers me that kia apparently knows about it and would just issue a new part that costs owners several hundred dollars to repair (cost prohibitive to many people), rather than issuing a recall, or at least notifying owners of the issue.

I bougjt this car in 2014. I have replaced both low-beam headlights, twice, a brake light, both rear blinkers, a front blinker, as well as both highbeams. I have never replaced even half the number of lights in the entire lifetime of ownership of any vehicle i have owned in the past. This is an obvious recall issue based on safety as well as quality if kia cared. When the lights are working i have to drive with my high-beams on and i never get flashed or pulled over. It is extremely hard to see vs. Any other vehicle. I have had many friends and family in the car and have shared the story. And everyone says the same thing, its like the brights in this car is everyone else's regular lights. In fact, many people say the high-beams are not as bright as most vehicles low-beams. It is ridiculous and unfair that us owners have to spend $10-$35 on a bulb or two an average of every 5-8 weeks. Crazy....kia step up and fix this quality and safety issue. Gov't i guess wont step in without someone dying first and it making the news because i see i am not the first by any means, and wont be the last!

The back turn signal, back lights and front low beams continue to burn out. They have been replaced multiple times by professionals and continue to blow. I would guess there is a short some place. Recently the right low beam headlight went out, had it replaced and it blew fuses. Once the fuses and relay switch had been replaced the left low beam light will work if the right one is disconnected. I have come across multiple complaints about this, i contacted the dealer and they claim this is not a common issue, and want $115 to run test. Also the blower motor for the heat/air makes lots of noise and i was told that is just the way it is, i know that's not true. When its cold out the car makes lots of squeaking noise and i was also advised that's is "normal". I purchased the car new in 2008 i have approx 67,800 miles and have had to replace the tires 3 times.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. Six months after purchase the ignition would lock. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and a technician concluded that the ignition would lock because the wheels were turned while parked.he added that she should not have the wheels turned left or right when parked and to ensure that the wheels were parallel when parked. No repairs had been made to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 5,000. The current was 9,000.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. Occasionally, the vehicle would not start when he placed the key in the ignition.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. They informed her that whenever she parked the vehicle, the four wheels had to be in a straight line or else it would not start. The kia manufacturer was never called. Thecontact continued to take the vehicle to the ford dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was 7895.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated the ignition switch failed causing the key to remain lodged in the ignition or making it impossible to turn in order to start the vehicle. The steering wheel was locked in place as well. The contact continuously turned and pulled the steering wheel towards her body in order to remove the key but to no avail.the dealer replaced the key and advised that when parking the vehicle, that all four tires were straight in order to remove the keys from the ignition. The failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer seven times in regards to the failure to no avail. The manufacturer advised taking the vehicle back to the dealer for additional repairs and would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 11,000.

I came to a complete stop and proceeded to turn left when i noticed the check engine light came on and as i pulled over there i noticed a thick cloud of blue smoke out of my rear view mirror.i opened the hood and saw flames at the back of the engine around the transmission and airconditioner area of the car. Flames continued until the interior began burning and windshield broke.

My check engine light keeps coming on. At first it would go off and on with no code. Now it stays on with the code p0420 for the catalytic converter. Also i heard about an air bag recall

While driving my 2007 kia optima at approximately 70 mph, i heard a loud pop from the engine compartment.i immediately lost electrical and engine power.i managed to steer to the shoulder where i came to a stop.once my optima came to a stop, white smoke began billowing into the passenger compartment.my wife and i got out.once we did, there was another explosion from the engine compartment which sent burning shrapnel out from under the engine compartment and the entire front end of my car erupted in flames.

On saturday 9/14/19 my daughter was driving on the highway when she heard a noise and the check engine/oil light came on and then a driver pulled up next to her and told her that the car was on fire.the engine ended up in full flames.

I was driving and without warning.the car suddenly stopped.i managed to get it to the side of the road.it started smoking and a small fire from engine.no warning lights, nothing.i purchased the care brand new in 2007 and had all required maintenance including new tires.this car just stopped while i was driving.i could have been seriously injured, but it was late and no traffic.i the was towed to kia dealer.the said the engine is shot.i towed to another dealer, they said there is a whole in the engine.repair cost $7,000.the car only has 62,000 miles on it.i'm appalled!

Oil was low check engine light came on need new engine said it was from metal shavings in oil

The contact owns a 2012 kia optima. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle shut down in the middle of the road, without any warning indicator. The vehicle was pulled to the side and was towed to a local dealer the following day. The technician diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000. The vin was not provided.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the engine started to make an abnormal noise. The engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the main bearing in the engine failed causing one of the rods to fracture. As a result, the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.

My husband and i used a premium oil filter (not kia), and a few weeks later had a knocking in the engine. I took the car to a shop up the street and was told that since we used an oil filter that was not kia, the filter caused metal in the engine which now needs to be replaced. I called kia consumer affairs and explained the issue. With all the information that was sent to me in 6 years, not one piece stated that you are required to use a kia oil filter. The shop that i originally took the car to had to do some research and stated that there are bulletins out that are only around 2 years old. While speaking with consumer affairs, i was told that the car needed to go to a kia dealer to be diagnosed. I then had the car towed to a local dealer which stated the same thing. Now, the kicker, they will not help in fixing the engine because i am over the 100,000 mile mark. On top of that, i am now charged a tow bill and more diagnostic fees on top of what i already paid in which they will not pay for either (since they required the car to be at a dealer for assistance). I callthe consumer affairs lady that i have been working with, and she will not return my call until i call the 800 number and tell them i need to speak to someone or i will be going to the local media as well as any social media avenue i can. The dealer that i purchased the car from will also not honor the "engine for life" that i signed unless i can provide all receipts from the last 5 years on any maintenance that i did on the car outside of a dealer (air filter, etc). I have recently been married and the account closed. And - who keeps their receipts for 5 years on air filters?? this is not only poor customer service for a loyal consumer, but the lack of follow through with what you "agreed" to and signed upon purchase not being honored.

My kia optima began consuming large amounts of oil but it wasn't leaking out or burning off anywhere. I began to watch the oil levels closely and was down 2 qts every week. At some point the oil pressure got too low and we think sucked air into the engine. The check engine light came on and then off again as it has been for the ppast yr but for an evap problem - avery small leak kept getting detected. I spent $1800 at firestone the previous ur the colder kept coming back on and off. But this didn't explain the sidden massive oil consumption. Suddenly on oct. 21 my car suddenly idled very high without moving and the the check light came on again and stayed on. The engine began to knock loudly especially when accellerating or climbing hills.my mechanic friend told me one of the engine rods was damaged and the computer code check verified that the crankshaft timing oil control valve was not working properly. This would explain the low oil pressure and damage to the engine. I was able to find the problem on kia's website with many complaints regarding the same issue. Kia had a recall regarding this problem for many of their cars but of course not mine. I was very upset over it. I had gotten the car only 3 years prior and it only had 150k miles on it. I took really good care of it. Kia said they could do nothing. My only option was to junk the car and have to buy a new when i wasn't in a position to do so. Kia has disappointed me greatly. Because of this problem i may never but another kia.i was so excited about getting my kia as it had all the features i wanted in a car and at a very good price but it iis only good if it runs. This problem should have been included in thw recall for my car as it is a huge problem as i read complaint after complaint online from other kia optima owners. The engine computer code that came up was po600011

I was driving the vehicle and it started shaking and slowing down on it's own. Then it just cut right off on me.i pulled over and tried to restart the vehicle ...to no avail.....there were no warning lights or anything going on.....i had to get it towed to my mechanic who informed me that he felt it was either the starter or the alternator...he replaced the starter first and then told me the engine had ceased and i would need a new or rebuilt on put it.i had just changed my oil a week or two ago...so it could not have been that...so i'm hoping by writing this someone will look into it since i bought the car from a dealer and have only had it less then a year.

Engine taps even after an oil change. Had a mechanic look at it said it was my engine the back end. Said that their was a recall on my engine because he has had to replaceseveral of them already. Looked it up and there is no recall. This happens while vehicle is in motion, stationary.

I've seen in other forums about engine recalls. I was never notified and the engine in my car disintegrated. It was replaced with an engine from a wrecking yard. This should be covered by manufacturer. I had issues with the brake lines rusting out. This should not have happened either. Not being able to service the transmission and arguing with the dealership about this should be replaced by manufacturer!

2007 kia optima with several safety issues. Consumer states that the transmission was replaced in february 2008, 5 weeks after the car was purchased. In april mechanic informed consumer that the #1 engine bracket bolt was missing.the consumer stated the tpms light illuminated occasionally.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact waited a few moments and was able to restart the vehicle. I was driving to work and my drivers side airbag came on. A few months prior, we had to replace the o2 sensorbecause the check engine light was on. Now on the second day with the airbag light on, the check engine light came back on! is it bad wiring, will my airbag not work?

Broken crankshaft pulley and drive belt.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact was concerned because an owners manual was not included with the vehicle when he purchased it used. When he called the manufacturer, he was informed that the only way to get it was to download the six hundred pages and print it. The contact felt that the lack of the manual was a safety issue because he could not learn how the car operated and possible safety defects.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. The contact stated that the exterior headlights were extremely dim. The lights had to be on the high beam setting in order to see anything. The contact mentioned that the failure was a very serious safety concern because visibility was impaired while operating the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlights needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,805. The vin was not available.

Headlight problems, the lights are so bad at night, that you can not even drive on dark roads at all . Not had an accident as of yet, only drive at night and very scared, carefully only if it is necessary. I bought this car in used condition, only had it for about three months now, had the lights replaced and worked on but they still don't work properly, i have been driving for over forty years with many different vehicles but this one is the only one in my lifetime that has ever had a head light problem. This problem could cause a very serious accidents, if its not taken care of, its dangerous to people out walking at night, animals, and to the driver w/passengers. I am a senior citizen, borrowed the money to purchase this car, so disappointed in it, did not personally even own a car until now. My dream was to be able to take vacations and long trips in my later years but this has put an end to that dream. I know i want be able to get help with this matter, but would like to let others know before they purchase a 07 kia optima, during daylight hours, for all to be aware and do not buy a car until you've driven it at night.

Unless the brights are on i can hardly see at night. I avoid driving at night because of this.

I have a 2007 kia optima and it has terrible exterior headlights. The headlights are so dim that i have to drive with high beams on as much as possible. Per forum discussions i have seen online this is an ongoing issue.

Head light are dim and have no visabilty

The back turn signal, back lights and front low beams continue to burn out. They have been replaced multiple times by professionals and continue to blow. I would guess there is a short some place. Recently the right low beam headlight went out, had it replaced and it blew fuses. Once the fuses and relay switch had been replaced the left low beam light will work if the right one is disconnected. I have come across multiple complaints about this, i contacted the dealer and they claim this is not a common issue, and want $115 to run test. The low beams are very dim. The fog lights light up the road better than the low beams. I replaced the lowbeam bulbs withsylvania silverstar ultra bulbs which are very bright in my other car, they still are very dim.

Low beam headlights are too dim. Tried replacing the bulbs, but no change. Cleaned the outer lens to improve clarity and get rid of yellowing. But did not help. The outer lens looks just fine. When i removed the assembly to check if there's anything wrong inside, i was shocked. The projector bowl had caught rust on both sides, thus causing poor reflectivity and low light on the road. Turns out every 2006/2007 optima owner has had the same issue. I found this out when i looked online to purchase a new assembly.

Oem headlights go bad. Lights got progressively dim with time. Got to the point i could barely drive at night. Dangerous! started leaving lights on high beams - nobody would flash me because they were barely adequate. Checked voltage/ground was ok. Replaced factory headlight assemblies with aftermarket units - fixed the problem. Can now drive around safely at night. Kia should recall the defective head light assemblies.

Frequent low beam and high beamheadlight failures over last 4 years..last month i had to replace the whole passenger side headlight assembly..my left headlight assembly is currently out on the low settings..

I was at the gas station and my son noticed that my brake lights were still on, the car was completely cut off. They would not go off. I had to take out the fuse to cut them off when i got home later that night. I noticed there was a recall for the brake switch, but, the recall started for 08. I have an 07. Why wasn't the 07 included in the recall?

Headlights very dim no matter what bulb you put it. Cannot see more than 3ft in front of you when driving at night. Visited do not stay up fall down blocking view

The visor on the driver side of the car fails to stay upright limiting visibility. The headlights are so poor that it's almost impossible to see when driving on a dark road at night. It's to the point where i don't drive the vehicle at night because the road leading out provides little to no light and i would constantly have to ride with the bright on to be able to see including the fog lights. Both are safety concerns that could possibly lead to an accident or someone being seriously hurt.i've seen several complaints but no further actions have been initiated.

Low beam headlights, keep replacing bulbs, exact bulbs required by kia. Alternating either the driver's side or the passenger. Beside this problem, the headlights are so low that at night i have been running with high beams on for over a year now; on-coming cars don't seem to be bothered by the high beams. Usually high beams cause on coming vehicles to flash their high beams, but this is not the case, we've discussed with firestone, they tested the bulbs and believe it is electrical. Since reviewing your on-line complaints on this issue, we'd expect a recall by kia! we'd like to see that, at no cost, instead of it being our expense. I had several chevy camaro for years, never experienced this problem. Only recalling headlights being replaced one or twice!

Parking brake indicator light, exterior lighting, brake lights. The rear stop lamp and tail lamp bulb have a definite malfunction. When pressing on the brake the lights blink and certain interior and exterior lights are affected. This is very dangerous and must be covered in the recall.

We have a 2007 model kia optima and have had continuous problems with the turn indicator bulb on the tail light blowing. Also the same problem with the left front headlight burning out. We have replaced the rear bulb three times and the left headlight twice already since we have had the car. I was curious as to whether this was a common problem that other kia owners were having. The turn signal bulb went out in june of 2009 and again in october of 2009. The latest incident was on january 4th in 2010.

I purchased a 2007 kia optima lx last friday [8/5/11] and when i drove it that night, it was impossible to see the road.the headlights are a dangerous and possibly a fatal hazard, while driving at night.i am writing to inform you about this matter. I would like to explain what the problem is and a solution to the problem. I sent an email to kia on 8/5 addressing this issue. I haven't received a reply yet. Please let me explain.the kia model i purchased, has two headlights on each side. There is a top light and a bottom light. The top light is the low beam headlight on the car and the bottom light is the high beam. The bottom light points out in the correct direction, as with cars that only have one headlight on each side. The low beam light is located'up and to the side of the car! it is absolutely impossible to have lights work correctly, when the low beam light is located'up and to the side of the car! there is a 'black spot' area'on the road, anything in front of the car, to cars in front of you, and to the sides of the road is impossible to see. The 'black spot' area means just that'everything in that area is black. The black area is in all the places where you are supposed to see when you are driving with the headlights on.in order for the lights to work correctly, here is an uncomplicated and inexpensive way to fix them. Here is the idea, for the headlights to work correctly:the top light (low beam) stays on all the time. The bottom light switches from low beam to high beam! the top light is aimed toward the beam in the bottom light. This gives extra light when the low beams are on. The location of the bottom light will provide the correct lighting when using headlights.having the bottom light switch from low beam to high beam will correct the problem.how were these headlights ever approved? a response and reply would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.

Low beam headlights extremely dim, problem reviewed by dealer.no resolution.seems a electrical situation. Same problem noted by many other 07 owners. Problem has gotten progressively worse over time. Only low beam affected. Reviewed by many dealers with no solutions. Extremely dangerous situation as virtually no low beam light emitted . Bulbs have been changed. Circuits checked by dealer.... No changes in problem. Need a solution... No lights

Headlight assembly to dim

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. On several occasions, while driving at night, the headlights became extremely dim, forcing the contact to turn on the high beam headlights to see properly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.

The headlights are very dim,was reported to kia at the time and the car was under warranty at the time, kia would not address the problem they just told me to pay to have them replaced. I feel like kia should to replace them at there cost not mine, the replacement headlights are $360.00 a piece. We have tried restoring them and having them adjusted this didn't fix the problem { feeling hopeless }.

The contact stated that the exterior headlights were extremely dim. The contact mentioned that the failure was a very serious safety concern because visibility was impaired while operating the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

I have a 2007 kia optima, i purchased it on 9/2009. The problem i am having is as follows: when i am pumping fuel , i remove the cap and put the nozzle and pump gas and there are times i hold the nozzle or i put the lockso it dispenses on it ownand whenever the tank is full it stops. When i remove the nozzle suddenly the fuelflushes out of the tank.sometimes its alot and others its a little. This happens all the time when i (fill) my tank. The fuel flushes out onto the floor and my car. I always have to clean the outside of my car and tell the gasoline attendee that there is fuel on the ground and they clean it up. No repairs has been done on this matter. I only pump 1/2 a tank now or just pump $20 to avoid having this incident again. Is there a report on this type of problem?

On two occasions (to date) my kia optima has become inoperable - unable to put the car in drive or reverse.the first occurred during the winter in february 2010. After one of many snowstorms this season i was driving on a plowed road then encountered an area where there was only room enough for one car to pass. When i pulled over to allow an approaching vehicle to pass my car was in about 8-inches of snow. While moving the transmission selector between reverse to get out of loosely packed snow i found i could no longer get the car into a drive gear ' forward or reverse.the car had to be towed because it was no longer operable and was causing a road hazard for other vehicles. The dealer claimed snow caused the shifting cable to detach from the gear selector. The dealer, holly kia, reported the problem was repaired by reattaching the cable to the selector.more recently my son was operating my vehicle on or about july 6th, 2010 ' a 100+ degree day. He reported that he was in reverse to move the car to another parking spot in a car dealership and the car could no longer be shifted into any gear' again. During this instance the car was on a steep incline and my son was fortunate to be able to maneuver the car around other parked cars but the car had to be coasted to the bottom of the grade in order to be safely parked.after the second instance, the car was again towed back to holly kia for repair - holly kia is now replacing the shifting cable. The holly kia service department claims this problem with the 2007 kia optima as a manufacturing flaw. My concern is, after the repair can the car be trusted and operated safely ' both incidents left the car in a very compromised state and a hazard to other vehicles (moving and parked).

Kia optima 2006.5 from day of new car purchase in dec 2006, car has had a front end problem that results in excessive noise, vibration, and a clunking sound when the vehicle strikes a series of bumps in the road. Dealer and other owners acknowledge this is typical of most vehicles in this model year. I amconcernedthat i could lose control if the condition deteriorates further while traveling at highway speeds. Dealer did replace the front strutsa month after the vehicle was purchased, but the condition persists. Vehicle now has 12000 miles on the odometer.

Both driver and passenger side visors failed and are flopping.this is a dangerous situation.the visor is obstructing my view, and hitting my head.i can't see.the faulty part has been re-designed....why no recall???i have instructed my family that if i am involved in an accident to sue kia since they have know about this problem for years!!!passeger side 2010, driver's side 10/2017.i am holding the visors up with bungee cords!!!!this is a know problem with these kias!!!!!

Driver's side visor broke....passenger side previously brokeni filed a complaint years ago....no contact from kia.this is dangerous!!!!it is a known problem!kia redesigned the spring....why isn't this being recalled?!i was pulling into a parking spot when it broke.

Air bag light comes on and won't turn off ... Other problem is both visors won't spring up flopped down ... The internet is buzzing about kia's lack of concern!!

I have had intermittent issues with acceleration while driving my 2007 kia optima. When accelerating with the pedal depressed moderately the car will begin to accelerate and then will all of a sudden loose all power. Essentially it seems as though the pedal were completely released. When this happens however, i will try and give it more gas to compensate and tried to release the pedal and reapply pressure to no avail. It will usually take five seconds or so until i regain any sort of acceleration. During one occurrence i have to guide the car to the side of the road and stop for before it would respond again. This problem seems to happen within a few minutes of starting the car in the morning and has occurred about ten times in the last year. This is a dangerous problem because it has happened a few times while crossing a busy intersection without a traffic light. I have almost been hit twice. The car will begin to accelerate and then will just coast, which is particularly problematic with oncoming traffic.

Both the drivers side and passenger side visors will not stay up. They hang down making it unable to see the signal lights. I have read numerous complaints but have not seen a recall.

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima.on january 27, 2009, the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working while driving 10 mph in the snow.the dealer stated that the motor, wiper links, and wiper ball joint failed.the dealer replaced the motor under warranty, but wanted to charge $100.83 to replace the ball joint and wiper link because they were not included in the warranty.the contact feels that the failure was caused by a defect and all the parts should be covered by the manufacturer.she will file a report with the manufacturer.the current and failure mileages were 21,000.

My 2007 kia optima driver and passenger visors do not work. This is very dangerous since they are in my view of driving.i have seen other complaints about this problem. I will never do business with ever again.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The contact owns a 2007 kia optima. While driving approximately 55 mph, the front driver side sun visor fell, obstructing the driver's vision of the roadway. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would cover the replacement of the sun visor under warranty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs however, the failure recurred shortly after the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not repaired a second time for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

Driver side sun visor broke and will not stay in the up position, therefore it hangs in my view when driving. I've looked online and have other owners that have had this complaint. How many complaint do you have to have to fix this problem? does someone have to get hurt ?

Drivers side sun visor will not stay up or position ... Should be warranty issue even @ 80,000 miles.no excess use or abuse. Just normal everyday use!

Driver side sun visor broke and will not stay in the stored position, therefore it hangs in my view when driving.i have tried to secure with velco for the time being, but it does not hold.the passanger sun visor has also broke and will not stay in the stored position and therefore blocks my view at stop signs and while looking in the passanger mirror when changing lanes

The mechanism inside the driver side sun visor broke and the visor will no longer stay up.this blocks visibility to oncoming traffic.i searched for information about this problem on the internet and find that it is a common problem with the 2006-2008 kia optima and also hyundaithere should be a recall so kia replaces these visors before they break and even after warranty has expired. If the visor breaks while someone is driving it can create a hazard as they driver can't see or needs to hold the visor up with one hand while trying to continue to drive.

My 2007 kia optima has had both sun visors break making them unable to remain in the upward position. Initially the passenger side visor broke and several months later the driver side broke. It made it difficult to see traffic lights when stopped at an intersection so i held them up with the extended visor in the visor. I would replace them but they are expensive and i feel that this problem should not have occurred because they were used normally, i do not attach anything to the visors and they were usually up. I have read many complaints on this issue and do not understand why there has not been a recall on the visors. This is a matter of safety in my opinion.

Passenger side visor will not fold up out-of-the-way.there seems to be some sort of tension preventing the visor from being placed in the fold-up position.

Passenger sun visor stopped working and stays down affecting visibility on right side.

Kia is fully aware of a problem with their sun visors.a quick google search will turn up thousands of cases.the visor components break causing them to hang loose, obstructing vision.this is a safety hazard.the defect has existed for a long time (my wife?s 2003 sorrento experienced the issue in 2004) and it continues today.my 2007 optima has both visors hanging presently.there is no recall on these visors, and the cost to repair them is 100-200 each.

The driver's side sun visor contains a defective component and doesn't remain in a locked position.when i try to move it to the locked position against the ceiling, it falls down into clear sight.this is great when the sun is in your eyes, but not during all other times.it severely decreases vision while driving.there are hundreds of complaints on the web and kia should be aware of the issue, but they have offered no resolution or recall for their defective sun visor.

Driver side visor ceased to remain upright when flipped up out of the way.only way to keep from blocking my view was to flip it over to the left side.a few months later, same thing happened with the passenger side sun visor.kia never recalled this item, but it has failed on thousands of their vehicles.dealer wanted over $500 to repair.instead, i searched online and found new replacement parts for $206.50.i ordered them and replaced the visors myself--i searched and found diagrams from kia's parts inventory and found posts online from others who'd had to replace theirs who explained that you pop off the oval-shaped piece holding the arm of the visor with a butter knife (slip it underneath) or flat-blade screwdriver to access the screw underneath and unscrew to remove the old visor and screw in the new one in its place.my car was outside the warranty period and yet only had approximately 36,000 miles on it (i alternate driving another vehicle); this part should not have failed so soon.given that so many of these failed so early on, kia should recall and replace them free and they should reimburse those of us who've already replaced them or had them replaced.

The visor on the driver side all of a sudden does not stay in the upright position. It just hangs obstructing my view. This should be recalled because i have read that this is a known problem for kia optima's. The dealership is going to charge me over $200 to replace it and i did nothing to break it. I just use the visor normally and do not hang anything from it. I was driving normally one day and it just fell down. My car is a little over 5 years old so it is no longer under warranty and i just finished paying it off so this is very upsetting. I feel that if the driver's view is obstructed then it should be recalled and replaced with a new working part. It is very distracting to drive with the visor down all the time. It gets in the way. Many people probably do not realize they can report this issue so i am providing some links for forums where people are stating similar problems. Please report this issue. This part needs to be recalled because it is a safety issue!http://www.carproblemzoo.com/kiamotor/optima/wiper-problems.phphttp://www.carcomplaints.com/kia/optima/2006/accessories-interior/sun_visors_will_not_stay_folded_up.shtmlhttp://www.arfc.org/complaints/2007/kia/optima/visibility/problem.aspx.

Sunvisors both will not stay up.

Knage123575112607 i took my car in today because of a letter i received for a service campaign. There are all several problems regarding my brakes loss of fluids severe corrosion flaking or scaling of metal brake pipes and i was told the weather has caused that when i called the consumer kia phone number. I have oil leak from the back of the engine and rogers very very rusty. Both front struts leaking.i took my car back to kia summit place in waterford michigan. This is where i bought my car. They told me that all of that corrosion was because i live in michigan.

After regular use, both sun visors have lost their tension. Also on the driver side the cylinder that clips into the holder at the top just cracked and broke off.they will not stay up, and just flop around. I can not see when i am approaching a stoplight if it is red/yellow/etc.if i push it to the side , it hits me over the side of the head when i make a turn. This is an extremely dangerous situation and kia needs to step up and do the right thing here. To replace both would cost me about $200 or more, which i simply do not have.

The driver's side sun visor will no longer stay in the upright position.i droop about half way down obscuring vision.must be held up by hand.

Both sun visors are unable to stay in the upright position.i was unable to use both visors as they wouldhang loosely downward flapping about aimlessly while driving. I had to anchor them to the roof of the car to drive.dealer states cost to repair is almost $500.00 and they need my car for the day.parts must be ordered two weeks in advance.

The air bag light stays on all the time 1 the passenger airbag light will say on with an adult sitting in the seat!!1 visors do not stay up! headlights are very dim . I've changed them out to a few different types still dim cannot see at night

Headlights very dim no matter what bulb you put it. Cannot see more than 3ft in front of you when driving at night. Visited do not stay up fall down blocking view
