On 1/15/2016, i hit a massive 10-point buck (deer) head on.it was standing in the middle of the highway, and i drove into it doing 65 mph.the front of my car sustained significant damage; the entire front end was pushed back and the hood was bent back to the windshield.yet, my airbag did not deploy.i have worked as a paramedic/ff for over 15 years, and i have worked hundreds of accident scenes.i can tell you right now... This airbag system failed.with the front end damage that my car sustained, that airbag should have deployed immediately.i have reached out to kia with no response, so perhaps the nhtsa can force kia to fix this.because i can tell you right now, there are going to be some fatalities if this isn't fixed.
The airbag light is on after my vehicle was bumped by another car while sitting still in my driveway. My car insurance company says that it was not caused by the accident and kia says that it will not fix it under the warranty since the vehicle was in an accident. It is a safety issue.
Our car was rolled end over end and airbags did not deploy at all. My son was driving swerved to avoid a deer and got into a gravel area and went down a ravine as the car ended up rolling end over end (nose down reer end up so on and so forth) the airbags did not deploy at all. I called kia and they will not explain to me how it was possible airbags didnt deploy.
I was traveling on north carson i was at a caution light trying to turn left when a tahoe rear ended me. My car turned out of controland my airbags didn't not work.

The contact's daughter owned a 2015 kia forte. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 15 mph, another vehicle going 40 mph crashed into the passenger front side of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated his daughter sustained whiplash and was taken to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot, where it was totaled. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
Driver was in middle lane driving around 55 mph. For some unknown reason, driver lost control of vehicle. Car began flipping while still in the roadway, eventually hit a guard rail and continued flipping. Driver was ejected and killed. Airbags never deployed...updated 11/13/15.....updated 12/23/15 updated 1/11/2015 updated 9/17/2017
"takata recall" i was traveling at 45 miles per hour when another vehicle made an oncoming left turn into my lane, causing a collision. I hit the other vehicle head on with her front passenger wheel. The airbags did not deploy. Is there a recall on this?
I was driving on a gravel road a little to fast and my car started to slide from side to side i tried to gain control but couldn't and ended up hitting a metal bridge. The air bags did not deploy as they should have. My whole front right in is damaged and the speed i was going the air bags should have went off!.
A few days ago my airbag lights on my dashboard turned on. When i used my obd to check for the problem, it said the driver side resistant was too high. I went in to get the car checked at a kia dealership, but was told that they would need to call and see if warranty would cover the parts, if not it'll be over $600 plus $165 for the diagnosis. This is too much for a part of a car i have no control over, and especially too early for a car that is said to be a new model. Our other cars from other makes that were purchased in 2010 and 2012 doesn't even have as much problems as i did with my 2015 kia forte in the 3 years i've had it. Another problem i have is that the car would occasionally jerk whether on a highway or streets, it doesn't happen often but it has become an everyday thing, where it would lag/hesitate when accelerating. Speed does not matter. When driving over to the dealership the car would jerk, but once the dealership drove the car they said nothing happened and didn't try to check for the problem. I instead was told that they would check if i informed them of this problem after the third visit. Over the years i had to pay out of pocket to get a leak fixed months after my purchase, my paint was coming off and warranty didn't cover it because it was used( still within 6 months after purchase) had to changed the breaks, change the tires, change the headlight and backlights, change the battery, and have noticed the lack of acceleration my car has compared to other cars. I'm to return monday to the dealership to see if warranty covers the airbag lights, but not feeling that it will.
Sometime during the summer my airbag light came on and my car has never been in an accident since i have bought it. I have owned it for 2 years. Also there is some kind of electrical issue to where certain buttons on my steering wheel dont work properly
Airbag controller diagnosed by dealer as failed.the vehicle has not been in an accident or had any repair work associated with this part of the vehicle.vehicle is 3 years old and should not have had this failure.
Airbags did not deploy in a single-car front end collision.the driver fell asleep at the wheel on interstate 195 in swansea ma.the car left the roadway to the left at highway speed (approximately 65 mph) and crashed into the wooded median.the car front end was totally destroyed and the engine compartment crumpled, but the airbags did not deploy.the car was a total loss
Takata inflators? receive voluntary emission recall notice from kia 1/16/18 took car in to be service for the recall 2/3/18 to kia of east hartford, ct- drove car off the lot onto the highway. Loud sound and black smoke from rear end of the car, all lights came on and car stalled. Call service department immediately and was told to turn car on and off, that the computer had to reset. Car came back on but the airbag, low tire pressure and engine light remained on. Brought car back to kia of east hartford several times was told nothing was wrong, instead that the sensor were off. Then eventually took the car to columbia kia and was told the air bag clock spring was defective but not cover under warranty, the fuel canister was also cracked but not covered under warranty and the tps module was also damage (which was repaired by columbia kiathat actually took my claim serious). Made a complaint ticket with kia manufacturer ref#12976894but has gotten no where. In addition complaint was made 07/07/18 that when trying to make a stop and the ground surface is uneven the car would jerk and propel forward. Was told by the service department that that is how the anti-lock brake system work. Complained to kia regarding the multiple times of near missed accidents due to mechanical braking system and car stalls. After purchasing the car with all of the warranty offered, was only able to get kia to agree to fix the tps module. All of the other issues with the car was noted by kia service department that they were defective, not wear and tear, but are not covered under warranty. Having problem with finding anyone that would even attempt to fix the airbag issue due to possible liability concerns and ongoing recall.
My airbag indicator came on so i took my vehicle to taylor kia in toledo. The service department let me know that the computer module has failed and my airbags are non-functioning.they told me that they would fix the error for $875.00.i didn't do it at the time as i was getting other work done on the vehicle.i then learned that a number of other kia vehicles have been recalled for this same type of failure. I called kia customer service (i also own a 2012 that will be under the recall).the rep told me that mine may show up, but i just needed to wait.i want to ensure that i report mine because the issue probably goes beyond the 2012.
Air bag light or indicator came on solid. No other issues. Took into kia rochester, mn and they indicate a new primary airbag module is required. Part on order. Vehicle has 30,500 miles on odometer.
The air bag light is on like if the bags deployed but they have not vehicle has not been in accident. They tell me it's low voltage in airbag sensor? vehicle was off turned on and the light came airbag deployed light came on and has not been able to turn off.
Air bag light turns on and off when driving.i have never been in a accident..
I was broadsided by a car that ran a stop sign as i was driving through an intersection on a city street. The collision knocked me up onto the curb and into a short block wall.the hit was so hard that it bent the frame of my car at the mid-line and even bent the roof of my vehicle.the airbags never deployed.i was injured in the accident as the hit was so hard and there was nothing to cushion the blow.
Airbag controller failed in june 2017 12 months after vehicle purchase.
At night with the lights on and driving or not, when you use the turn signal the head lights will go off. If you wiggle the blinker arm, they will come back on. But you are driving without being able to see because the lights go off. This happens every time.

Prior to the engine incident i was experiencing the lights flickering , power window malfunctions. The incident occurred on 6/21/2020(father's day morning). I was on my way to the store when my cars engine seized suddenly. I recently had my oil changed in 4/03/2020. No problems reported at the oil change appointment. So the morning of 6/21/2020. I started the car and proceeded to leave my boyfriends house.as soon as i made the left turn out into the street i heard this knocking in the front of the car i'm assuming that was the engine then suddenly ! the car made this loud grinding noise and i immediately experienced loss of power while the car was in motion and the car suddenly stopped in the middle of the street as soon as i made the left hand turn into the street then the engine light came on and there was smoke coming from under the hood as if the car was about to catch fire ! thank god me and my boyfriend were able to push the car out of the street into a parking lot in nuetral. I was able to get it towed to a shop using my insurance and i had to leave it at the shop overnight in their parking lot because they were closed for father's day. The next day i get a call from the shop and they said they tried to jumpstart it, the checked the battery, oil level, and they said the reason for the engine failure was not oil related they said it was nothing they could do. I had to go and and look for an engine to replace the failed engine. It costs me aloooooot of money ! i only had the car for 2 years. I got it at a dealership but my warranty expired so i was unable to repair it through the warranty. The car just hit 87,000 miles ! i got the car at the dealership at 54,000 miles. I do not drive long distances, i keep up with all the maintenance on my car and my engine suddenly failed ! help !! this problem is too common amongst the kia fortes. I have a 2015 kia forte5.
Purchased a brand new car battery a week ago, the car was running fine, spent the day out, went back to my car and it would not turn on. Had to call aaa to get a jump on a brand new car battery. Went back to where i purchased the battery, they said it was not the battery, they did replace it and ran a diagnostic and they could not fine an issue and stated it must be an electrical problem. Went about my day, in the middle of the night, the car lights turned off on there own, i had to pull over turn off the car and turn it back on so the lights would work again. Yesterday, iwent to switch my car with my girlfriend and it would not turn on or even crank to turn on, after trying for the 5th time, it finally turned on. I have a baby and driving my car has me very scared. Please help

Hello. My name is [xxx] . I drive a 2015 kia forte5. It's the sx model with right around 91000 miles right now; and as of recently it has fallen ill. I took it to the dealership after i noticed a slight knocking sound as well as some weird misfires i was feeling. After diagnosis they told me and i quote "internal damage to the cylinder head&possibly pistons from what the technician gathers so far. A tear down to visually inspect is the next step. For the diagnosis though the cost is $134.98". Based on the information received from them i contacted the warranty company, expecting them to cover the costs but for some reason was turned away. I am now coming aware that the issues listed above have been subject to many recalls for the exact same engine as mine, however i learned this information though a third party technician. Not once did the dealership mention it. I looked further and found several cases on many online kia forums of people claiming to have the same issues with the same engine. I am just looking to have some help getting this situation resolved as i've had many people tell me that i shouldn't be having these kinds of problems with a car this young. Not to mention that my car still falls under the power train warranty as well as the extended warranty. Below i have sent copies of all the diagnostic information i received. Please respond as soon as possible. I thank you for your time.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The engine oil light turned on at a traffic stop. At the next stop. The engine turned off and the immobilizer indicator light turned on and after adding oil, the engine will not start.. Kia refused to take the car to a dealership as the problemcause is describedby the recall. I took the car to fredy kia on 04/08/21 and it will be checkeduntil04/19/21.
The engine began, without warning, consuming the oil. The engine then began making a knocking noise that is now irreparable without replacement. This knocking noise, due to low oil, was not preceded by the "oil light," as i had recently received an oil change. The car now struggles to accelerate and i have to add oil every 2 weeks or so. This is a similar issue with other kia models, with the same engine, that will be involved in a class action lawsuit in january 2021.
At 94,000 miles, i was told i needed to have my total engine replaced. It was sluggish to accelerate, then started a rattling sound, and i barely got it to the auto repair shop.
Vehicle experiences engine power loss as low and highway speeds. Engine power loss is accompanied by plume of oil smoke from exhaust, momentary check engine and low oil pressure light. Loss of engine power results in rapid engine deceleration of vehicle until stopped at which point the engine regains power. Vehicle has received maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommended maintenance cycle.
Just financed from a dealer on 4/12, had major oil leak, had to return to dealership. Supposed to have been fixed, but currently still have a bad oil leak. Still waiting for a week for an appointment to take it back to the dealer to have it checked out. Engine makes a noise when idling, almost like a "miss"
On saturday march 30, 2019, i was driving along the 110 north highway ( california) with my only son , my mother and my boyfriend , i was getting signaled to pull over by other drivers at that very moment my car stalled and heavy dark smoke started to come out of air vent , my boyfriend shouted for us to get out of the car quick , my mother is disabled and uses a walker to walk we had to make sure she got out first , as we started to run from the car i turned around and noticed a fire under my car ( i was driving like that , unknowingly)my car went into flames within minutes and it was a total loss.i have provided pictures for you review, i was very afraid for not only my life but my families life, it crossed my mind that i was going to die, if these doors don't open .
Car engine caught on fire while driving without any indication. Car stopped and engulfed in flames. Car dashboard warning lights were not present until fire began but car shut off due to fire. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
I made a former complaint regarding oil consumption. I then brought my kia forte5 in due to catastrophic engine failure & knocking (oil consumption was the symptom). It also had a rattling noise which we suspected may be the cat. Long story short, kia hasn't paid a dime for this, despite there being a recall which includes my vin. The dealership has come up with every excuse in the book to not take responsibility. My short block may be repaired, but now they're saying i need to pay $2700 for a new cat & muffler... Which was damaged from the defective/recalled engine. The customer service at the dealership & consumer assistance center has been deplorable at best. This has been the most stressful experience. My car has been in their shop for over a month. They also are charger me for new spark plugs, even though i wouldn't have had to buy them right now if it weren't for the defective engine. Oh, the two-week late loaner they finally got to me? they decided to call me and tell me day-of that they were no longer covering it and would charge me $35/day - no warning. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the engine failure caused systemic issues, which should more certainly be covered by kia.
All of a sudden car started making loud clanking sound when driving. Could not accelerate. Car was in motion on a city street. Towed car to kia dealer and tech said he can not find a reason for the problem but the internal part of the engine failed
Car was running great. No issues, had my regular oil changes and check ups. I was driving down the road and a piston rod blew in my engine. But oil was in my engine.
While driving, my engine started knocking. I stopped driving and turned off my car. I had it towed to a shop and was informed it was the same issue as the recall for 2.4 engines and told me to call kia. Kia said itā€™s not covered under the recall so they wonā€™t look at it.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was turned off and failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine seized. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, informed the contact that no recalls were associated with the vin. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
Almost 2 weeks ago my 2015 kia forte with less then 80000 miles started to make a nocking noise in the engine especiallyno matterif the car is parkedor moving it makea noise but it goes away and comes back it'snot constantly loud noise but sometimes its and it gets really annoying. Idon't know if the car is safe to drive. Because every time i try to make an appointment at the dealershipthey try to charge me more moneyfor the car evaluation and they told me that the warranty is not covering my car because it doesn't have a recall base on my vin.. Numberkia motors help me please
The car was bought in jan 2021 from a dealership with under 20,000 miles. It was not inspected by the dealership prior to them selling it.they did not offer a warranty on this car.in april 2021, the engine died. There is no recall on this vehicle at this time, but clearly there is a problem with this motor. 0
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. The contact stated that the engine warning light was illuminated. Driving home from work. Engine started to have a ticking sound to it, i was only 5 mins from my house so i figured i'd look at it when i got home. Went to accelerate and my car didn't have the power it used to. Next i hear a pop sound and white smoke out of the exhaust. Pull over smell burnt oil and oil all over the alternator.
My foster daughter bought a 2015 kia forte 5 months ago.the car was fully serviced at the time she bought the car.the engine simply failed on the freeway on dec 8th.other cars were zipping by and one car even side swiped her... It was scary and very dangerous.my mechanic reported engine failure for unknown reasons.i called kia customers service and they said i needed to have the car towed to a kia dealer for a diagnosis.$300 later, the kia mechanic reported the same problem and that it would cost $10,000 to get fixed.kia offered us $500 towards the repair.thousands of other kia engines have been recalled.please hold kia responsible before someone gets hurt!
My car engine burns oil like crazy. I received a recall notice and brought my vehicle to gary rome kia in enfield. I brought it in with the check engine light on as it was on listed conditions for the recall and when i was told everything passed i still had a check engine light and excessive burning of oil. The engine is not working properly and wasn't rectified during the recall process. I am afraid with how much oil it is burning it may lead to a fire in the engine compartment. I have followed all of the usual recommended services and was not made whole during the recall event.
While driving, my car just shut off and wasn't working. I was unable to start it again. No oil lights, no engine lights, or any other warning lights came on prior to it dying. The dealership is telling me there is no oil in the motor and i am not understanding. I had the oil changed every 3-5,000 miles. The car shouldn't have stopped operating with no warning lights.the car was in motion when it abruptly shut off. I was traveling on a city street during that time.
On or about february 25, 2020while driving on the highway my engine seized andthe car died and wouldn't start and i had to be towed to my house and then to the mechanic a few days later and was told by mechanic that oil was burning fast with no known reason. Also told by the mechanic that the engine is no good and i have to now replace my engine.
Oil leaks from the engine due to a threading problem, has happened more than once and i have had to get my vehicle towed and worked on at a shop.the vehicle started pouring oil while driving on a 35mph road. The vehicle started shaking as well. I have videos of the car and the noise it made
My car has or should i sat had 143,000 miles when i was driving like i do any other normal day to go home. I gad to take a slight detour before going down the road and my car completely shutting off and having all the lights on my dash pop up. After i pulled into a safe parking spot my car would not turn on at all. The engine kept making a ticking noise. I had to be towed to a shop then to my house!! the car stats on for 10 seconds before shutting off! why is this not being recalled. I have seen stories and similar comments to mine. This is ridiculous now my car has been sitting for two months
I've had my car maintenance done regularly. It only has 72k miles on it. I've only used synthetic oil. My car started making a ticking sound. And has stalled out on my 1 time. I took it for its routine oil change. (noticed the oil was dirty, very dirty and it should not have been that bad) after the oil was changed, the ticking kept getting louder. Brought it to a shop. He told me def internal. Could be a cam, a crank or something else. Just found out too that with oil changes, do not use eith fram or aftermarket filters. I've only ever had places use the fram filters.there is a black filter that should be used because the others just blow out from the oil pressure. That would've been good to know.

I was driving on highway 8 in san diego,ca and i heard a loud rattling noise, the check engine light lit up and the engine died and i was lucky to be able to coast the car to the shoulder of the freeway. I had it towed to my kia dealership in el cajon, ca. They looked at it and told me my engine seized and the engine was blown. I bought this car 11 months ago as a cpo and it is within the warranty of 10 yrs/100,000 miles. I've only put 21,000 miles on it. They are asking for my maintenance records and are having a special investigator to come out on 7/31/2018 to determine the cause. I have had one oil change done at the dealer in january of 2018, the rest of the oil changes i did on my own. The last oil change was just 2 weeks ago. The dealership is now telling me that it's up to the investigator to decide if the engine was defective and if they'll cover my engine under the powertrain warranty. When i took my vehicle in to the dealer in january 2018, i informed the mechanic that there was a knocking/pinging noise in the engine, he told me that this was normal. They never documented my complaint. After reading about all the problems with these engines and how kia is handling these problems, i am very concerned that they'll honor the warranty. I am making car loan payments on this car and cannot afford to pay for a new engine while the battle over these engines play out in the courts, your investigations and the recent fbi involvement. The dealer never informed me of possible problems with these engines. I never would've purchased this car. Please help, i am concerned that the investigator will falsify what is found in the engine upon investigation.
The engine seized up and smoke was noted on april 29, 2021. The vehicle was towed to woodstock carriage kia, after being told that vehicle would start being repaired within 1 to 3 days. The service dated has been changed 3 times. Three months later, the dealer still does not have the short block engine from south korea. The dealer did state that kia would reimburse me for towing and a rental car (will not pay taxes or insurance for a rental car) eventually after car is repaired. I do not have the financial resources to pay for a rental car upfront for an unknown time period. The dealer stated they only have one loaner car, which they will not loan to me. The dealer also explained there are vehicles on the lot that have been sitting there since nov. 2020, waiting for engines due to this recall. This is unacceptable. I need my car to be repaired. Thank you.
I first noticed 3/1/2021 that my car was using higher rpms than normal. Then the following morning of 3/2/2021 when i turned the car on it immediately started making a ticking/winding sound when i pushed the gas pedal. By the end of the day the noise and issue had gotten worse when i was trying to drive. It started not being able to accelerate at all and finally it started smoking and turned completely off and leaving me stranded on the side of the road.
My car light came on indicating i need oil in my 2015 kia forte.after putting on in my car it began to stall.i was in the process of driving it home and the car comes to a screeching stop on breckenridge ln, in louisville ky. I started the car back up and began to drive some more the car did it again.i was very lucky that no one ran into the back of me as the car stopped all of the sudden as if someone had pushed on the brakes. As i started the car again and began to drive a few yards down the road the car cut off and i was lucky that i drifted into a abandoned gas station only to have the car no start back up.
When the car accelerates from a stop, there is severe valve pinging sound. Kia motors america is aware of the issue, but are not taking any steps to address the issue "as it does not do anything to the car". The noise is very severe on the 2015 forte and it is a defect in the design of the car. The wind noise and the valve ping make the car very loud. The dealer says that since kia motors america is not addressing the issue, nothing can be done.kia motors america has been aware of this issue for years but have failed to do anything about as they are do not care about their customers. Recommendations include upgrading to better gas, but the noise still persists. Kia recommends and advertises regular unleaded for the forte, but a more expensive plus or premium grade is needed to decrease the sound of the ping. There is an additional added expense to the car that kia fails to address.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was shut off and restarted, but the failure recurred. The contact had the vehicle towed to luther bloomington kia (1701 american blvd w, bloomington, mn 55431, 612-424-7641) where it was diagnosed that there was a loss of compression on the fourth cylinder. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 116,799.
My forte's engine seized at 106,000 miles.as i was driving the engine started making a ticking sound.the engine seized up and i was told they haven't recalled this despite many complaints of this happening to this year and make of kia.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte 5. The contact stated that while driving at 80 mph, an abnormal noise was detected as the vehicle stalled and completely shut off. The contact mentioned that it was a small fire located under the hood that was put out by a truck driver. Neither police nor fire report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to kendall kia of nampa 15700 n idaho center blvd, nampa, id 83687(833) 904-0460 where the contact was informed that the engine had a hole in the engine block. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred while driving at 20 mph. The vehicle was towed to white's mountain motors2400 e yellowstone hwy, casper, wy 82609(307) 237-2438 where the timing chain, oil pump and camshaft was replaced and the vehicle was taken for a test drive but failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 33,000.
Knocking sound at 52,000 miles with regular service. First was told worn bearings, then was told loose rod. It has been over a month with no resolution. Car was in motion, knocking sound started after 20 minutes of driving, also would stop sound if not accelerating.
The car stated having a light knocking on and off, then started cutting out and stuttering. It progressed and now the engine will make a noise like a diesel engine on and off and the car will go dead stopped in traffic and also while driving down the road or interstate.
We only bought this car 8 months ago with 70,000 miles on the engine. We noticed the engine seemed to be losing power after about 4 months. Then last week the car abruptly shrieked and stopped while we were driving. After which, the engine began to knock, and we had it towed to a local kia dealership. The dealership told us we would need a new engine and the knock was coming from the low end. We have religiously serviced the vehicle, and the car only had 80,000 miles when the engine blew. Clearly this is a failure of the manufacturer, but because we are not the original owners, kia refuses to provide the repairs they know they are responsible for.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,022.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The contact also stated that the failure occurred sporadically at least fifty times within the last six months. The vehicle was taken to kia of alliance (2010 w state st, alliance, oh 44601), but they were not able to replicate the failure. The vehicle had been at the dealer since september 5, 2019. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,500.
The vehicle mileage is currently at 115,446 . At approximately 110,000 miles vehicle started with a very loud cold start. Not only was it loud but it was rough with a high rpm. I know they call it cold start for a reason but this is not common with other vehicles i owned that were 2015s. Now the vehicle started making a ticking or knocking noise. Currently this is my only vehicle and with the other complaints that are matching exactly up to mine why isnt this problem being investigated or recalled? if and when this vehicle seizes on me like every complaint on here i will update. There is supposedly a class action lawsuit for this year make and model but not a single recall. Not even an investigation? please update us and previous owners of the complaints what steps yall are taking to fix this problem.
The car keeps cutting off while driving. Was told by the mechanic at first that it was the oil pump. Got it in the shop and they said after inspection that the oil pump is working fine, but is only pushing 1 psi of pressure into the engine. They said the engine is shot and needs to be replaced. It cuts off when we are in stop and go traffic.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled intermittently. The vehicle was taken to o'lathe kia (130 n. Fir st, o'lathe, ks) where the ignition switch was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a representative was sent to examine the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 44,600.
I will be driving my 2015 kia forte and it will automatically shut off. No warning at all.just thankful that i have not been hit by anyone.can someone please tell me why this is happening and how to fix it.i have already taken it to a auto parts store and their machine says there is nothing wrong showing
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While driving at an unknown speed, smoke appeared under the hood. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the road shoulder. The contact unlatched the hood and found flames under the hood. The contact stated that someone stopped and assisted with a fire extinguisher and was able to extinguish the fire. The fire department and local police arrived and a police report was filed. The fire department did not determine the origin of the fire. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location and was awaiting to be towed to a dealer for further inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 37,000.
I have had a 2015 kia forte with the gdi engine in it. I have been paying on it for over 2 years now. I went to the store last night and when i started the car after i got out of the store i heard a loud clanking noise. Come to find out there was no oil even though i have it serviced regularly. Was running fine, no indicator lights. Went up the road yesturday it was makingloud clacking noise. I immediately pulled over. Called my daughter and she came to the location and said i had no oil! even though i just had it changed. We put 4 qts in and had it towed home. Plz help!!! we have taken good care of this vehicle and it is still under financing!! i'm a disabled widow with no vehicle now!
Driving down the interstate about 70 miles per hour vehicle in motion it started driving different i pulled over to get gas anyways and noticed black soot along both sides of the vehicle it was raining that night i didn't really think too much of it i got home i talked to a mechanic that's a friend and he name several things i decided to google it and saw that my kia forte is on the recall list for the motor causing fires and motor failure
The vehicle cuts off in the middle of driving. Car has been checked by a mechanic and was told that there is no oil pressure getting to the engine. Mechanic replaced the oil pressure valve and it is still shutting off while driving. It happens more often in lower speeds/stop and go traffic.
My engine just started making "knocking" sounds out of nowhere...im up to date on oil changes and i check the oil often...it knocks while idle and in motion.
Premature engine failure, mechanic notice metal pieces in the oil from the engine compartment.the dealership said the engine needs to be replaced.the vehicle has 120,289 miles.engine was knocking, check engine light, and oil light illuminated.when vehicle is in motion, makes loud noises, putters, knocks and then stalls.cannot use on highway, too dangerous, it wont go high speeds.i have oil changes receipts for the entire 120k miles.
2 months ago we had oil changed, the vehicle was 2000 miles from needing next one.it started knocking & we were able to get to mechanic,he said it looked like the oil had not been changed needed oil and he cleaned the engine and made sure everything was in working order. No leaks were detected. 1000 miles later hear a clanking sound and was able to make it in the driveway and car shut off.when i tried to start it would not turn over and when i looked under hood there was a spark.looked to be no oil put in 2 quarts and let it sit over night.checked oil again before adding anymore & levels were fine.mechanic said engine was done.the oil is going somewhere & this model has a toyota engine, so i think something else is going on.we have kept up with all maintenance on this vehicle.we travel all highway and it does have 200,000 miles on it.i have had hondas & toyotas & no problems.i will never own another kia.we did not have it repaired or replaced & was told by kia that they do not make that engine anymore.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, when she began to hear an abnormal noise. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic and was informed the started had to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The independent mechanic informed the engine was needing to be replaced. The contact called jim shorkey kia (12900 us-30, irwin, pa 15642: (724) 241-0176) and was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired as of yet. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine), however the vin was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

My car left my child stranded on the interstate in orangeburg on the way home to macedonia, sc. It was in motion when the vehicle shut off and she had to coast to the side of the road. Apparently there is a recall on my engine & i never received it. I now have a unusable car in the shop that needs a new engine due to oil leaking. It is currently at shop life @ 2005 n main st, summerville sc(843) 475-9366.
The engine has lower engine knocking. It has a rod knocking very loud. It could throw a rod through engine at any time, cause the vehicle to wreck and catch on fire. Yes, it was confirmed that it had a rod knocking in engine. Yes, an ase certified mechanic. No check engine light came on. It just started knocking real bad and lost power.they appeared as i was driving down the road.
We were not experiencing any issues with the vehicle. My husband was driving home from work in the city and the car stopped running due to engine issues. It appears to be exactly what is in the recent recall but our car is not included. There was an oil leak that was not noticeable at all.
2015 kia forte. Consumer writes in regards to engine issues. *ldthe consumer stated the dealer advised the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the mileage on the vehicle.

Engine light came on took it to kia they did a tune up and fuel flush car sounded terrible. Told me they couldn't diagnose the problem unless the engine light came on again. I took it back because the sound was worse 3 weeks later. They said i needed a new engine $7702 or they could check the engine for $2000 and replace it if needed the price would be $7702 plus tax.i do not understand why it sounded worse after the tune up or why they did not identify the problem before the tune.they said it was internal engine failure.
I was sent information on an emissions recall on my car but didn't take my car in until i saw that the emissions light illuminated on my dashboard around 07/01/19.i called kia manufacturer, i believe on 07/05/19, case # 13251901 and informed that representative that the emissions light illuminated and that there was recall on my car and asked how to get car repaired.the representative stated to take it to a kia dealer and they would be able to see recall and repair.i called kia and made an appt. For 07/18/19 spoke with dj.kia stated that an emissions update in the car computer was done, no paperwork was given to me.the next morning, while going to work, i noticed that my car was smoking- a big cloud of smoke and there was a burning smell so i immediately took the car back to kia and 1st spoke with dj. The smoke was lighter by this time but could be seen. Then, i spoke with kevin who stated that they did a diagnostic and couldn't find anything and that the car was not smoking any longer.he got one of the car technicians to drive the car with me to see if it will start back smoking, it did not, the emissions ight was not showing so kevin stated to bring it back if the emissions light comes back on.on 07/27/19, a strong smell of engine fumes came through the vents inside the car and the engine light came back on.i brought my car back to kia and spoke with rob and left my car there, he stated that it was a small leak and he believed it was the gas cap seal and he ran diagnostic 3 times but did not have cap but will order it.two weeks later, i called about cap, it was never ordered and spoke with kevin again and made another appt. To bring car in and gas cap was replaced but light was still on.they stated that they needed to order a part to do another diagnostics and part is not in 2 weeks later.my car is still not fixed with no resolution in sight.
Mil light wont go off, catalytic converter damage possible, car only 3 years old???
Vechile stalls out while driving down the highway with out warning
While driving in city or highway, you hear engine noise, see illumination of the check engine warning light, illumination of the low oil warning light. Then vehicle propulsion stops suddenly, continues to coast but pressing on the accelerator has no effect, the engine doesn't rev.stopping, turning off engine for 30 or more minutes may allow vehicle to start and move again.also fuel smell.
At 64,000 miles enginestarting making knocking sound.called dealer....in route to dealer the engine blew up.towed to dealer...kia will not honor warranty.
All of the headlamps / all tail/park/marker / all i/p illumination lamps goes out when turning on the turn signals while driving & signaling for an upcoming turn. This happens intermittently & is getting worse by the day. The lamps usually return to normal within a second or two.
When i turn on directional the headlights go out, i then have to turn the directional on an off to get the headlights to come back on. City streets while i am coming up to my turn.
Brake lights are on and will not turn off. When the plunger on the brake light switch is moved it will go out and on and sometimes it will blink. It doesn't matter if the vehichle is in motion or still. There is a recall on 2014 kia fortes and 2015 kia suvs for faulty brake light switches. The part number is the same, so shouldn't the recall cover my 2015 forte as well?

Constantly blowing brake light, and have had both driver and passenger housing replaced in 3months due to them literally burning up and melting. Fire hazard as well as an expensive nuisance
Takata recall: my brake lights from both driver and passenger sides are always gong out. I constantly have to replace bulbs. I've even taken to a mechanic and had the entire lighting wires brand new and still have this issue.
At night with the lights on and driving or not, when you use the turn signal the head lights will go off. If you wiggle the blinker arm, they will come back on. But you are driving without being able to see because the lights go off. This happens every time.
The tail lights that surround the break lights consist of four led light bars. It is always random with of the led actually work. The
The kia headlights regularly and suddenly turned off and flickered back on with varying duration while the vehicle was in motion under normal use.this was noticeable at night when everything was dark and suddenly the headlights turned off when we needed them and quite often while making a turn.the problem occurred more frequently when the turning signal was activated which impacted the safe operation of the vehicle for both the passengers and other surrounding cars and people.driving at night with no street lights on a 2-lane road with incoming traffic, then planning a turn and activating the turning signal caused some concerns to both the kia driver and the incoming vehicles when the headlights turned off and caused loss of visibility at night at the wrong moment.it is not good to not see and not be seen.i believe this was a serious issue that increased the risk of accident particularly at night.i brought the car to the kia dealership and had it fixed for about $400 total (parts and labor) but i feel this headlight issue is not normal and serious enough to be reported to help prevent unfortunate accidents.

Loss of acceleration when pulling out on to street an driving through a parking lot you have to step on it for it to go. Idles slow like it going to knock out.

When driving my 2015 kia forte, it sometimes when giving it gas to go it will not shift correctly, it taking a second or two. And rpm jump to 3500 to 4000 before it shifts. And it get bad fuel mileage sometimes too.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While moving the gear shifter from drive into park, the rpms increased and the vehicle lunged forward on its own, even with the brake pedal depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact was involved in two crashes due to the failure. *on the first occasion, while the contact was attempting to park in a shopping center parking lot, the vehicle was placed into park and then lunged forward and struck a pole. The air bags did not deploy, but there was minor damage to the front end of the vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. On the second occasion, the same scenario occurred; however, the vehicle crashed into a banking facility at an unknown high rate of speed. The air bags deployed. The authorities were called and police report number: [xxx] was filed. There were no injuries, but all three vehicle occupants were taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. The vehicle was initially towed to kia of lincoln (1145 n 48th st, lincoln, ne 68504, 402-434-7000) and then towed to an independent body shop for repairs. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer informed the contact that there were no recalls associated with the failure. The dealer also informed the contact that one of their service technicians had heard of this failure occurring previously. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 20,568. ('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).')
On april 2020 we noticed that our 2015 kia forte was making loud, clanking noise.we took it to a local mechanic.here is the problem in his words:* c/s there is a noise in the engine area, worse when cold.engine has internal damage; unclear exactly where, but listening to a cold start from under the car seems to indicate a rod bearing.removing the oil pan could help diagnose, but it isn't recommended as a replacement engine is the best solution regardless.he added 2.5 qts. Of oil since it was buring oil.he recommended we take it to a kia dealer for further diagnosis.we called the dealer twice to setup an apt. To have the car looked at.the dealer said we didn't need to bring it in for diagnostics.they said based on our description that we need an engine replacement.
The vehicle cuts off in the middle of driving. Car has been checked by a mechanic and was told that there is no oil pressure getting to the engine. Mechanic replaced the oil pressure valve and it is still shutting off while driving. It happens more often in lower speeds/stop and go traffic.

Its hard going up a hill and as i'm driving feels like car is pulling back while going forward.
I purchased this used vehicle two weeks ago. I noticed the rear center seat belt has about a 1-inch fray on it. I asked my salesperson to check if it was covered under kia's "bumper to bumper" warranty. He checked with his mishawaka indiana kia dealership's service department and was told it was. I took the vehicle to the dealership. The service manager took a picture and told me he would submit it to his boss. Two days later, he left me a message saying his boss was "declining" to replace the belt because it was frayed. That is exactly why i was asking it be fixed. I've owned hondas for 25+ years and never had a seatbelt fray. Plus, it disturbs me that kia is immediately declining to honor their "bumper to bumper" warranty, especially on what should be a relatively cheap fix. Shouldn't this be a safety issue that should be fixed under warranty on such a new vehicle?
My seatbelt would stick, i would have a hard time getting it to go in and pull out. Eventually it just stopped all together.so now my driver seat is unable to wear a seatbelt because it will not go in at all. It happens while both in motion or while sitting. It started messing up about 70,000 miles, now i'm on 76,458 and unable to use my seatbelts which is a hazard and against the law.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While operating the vehicle, the front driver's side seat belt locking mechanism malfunctioned and the lock could not be immediately unlocked when pressing the button. The vehicle was taken to rio kia (925 bartow rd, lakeland, fl), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.
Water leaks from under the dash covering the floor. And making the brand and acceleration peddles wet and slick. Slowing to stop at my hom and my foot slide from the brake peddle and was unable to safely slow down before impacting my husbandā€™s truck.
Bought car from kia 2015 forte 4 door with their certification with 32500 miles took car in for 2nd oil change at 40400 miles was told rear brakes were into the rotors and front brakes were starting to do the same. What were the brake pads like when they were certified?
The incident happened as i backed out of my garage in march of 2016.i put the car into reverse and began to push the gas to back out.the car engine revved loudly and the car shot out of the garage.i put my foot on the brake and the car continued to accelerate.thinking i possibly had my foot on the wrong pedal (even though i have never done that before), i looked down at my feet and verified that my foot was indeed on the brake and not the gas pedal.i then put both feet on the brake and the car still did not slow down; it continued to pick up speed.at this point, i had gone down my driveway across the street and was in my neighbors' driveway headed toward their house.then, i tried putting the car in park and that still did not stop or even slow down the car.it just made a terrible noise.my next step would have been to pull the emergency brake, but i had already hit the outside wall of my neighbors' garage and that is when the car finally stopped and began idling normally.i towed it to the kia dealership, and they said they ran tests on the brakes, throttle, etc. And found no abnormalities.when i asked what information was gathered from the control module, i was told that no history codes were shown. So, according to them there was no record of me braking or the car accelerating.i do not understand how that is possible. I asked twice for copies of the actual tests and data that was downloaded from the control module, but did not receive them.i was told the information was typed word for word in the summary section of the receipt.i am now looking for a new car, since i no longer feel safe driving this one and expressed this to the dealership and their corporate office. How can they allow a car back on the road when they don't have an answer for why it accelerated uncontrollably?i'm baffled by this.unfortunately, my story is not unique.
After hearing the car was making a strange sound while in motion and bringing it into the dealer 3 times over the span of a year, it was identified that both front calipers were frozen/broken and needed to be replaced.before realizing that this was the issue, the front left wheel bearing, front brake pads, and rear brakes all were replaced as a result of overcompensating for the calipers.
Takata recall: my brake lights from both driver and passenger sides are always gong out. I constantly have to replace bulbs. I've even taken to a mechanic and had the entire lighting wires brand new and still have this issue.
Car will not steer straight, pulls to the left and when you correct it oversteers to the righthave had it to the service department twice, first time they made a slight toe-in adjustment and said everything was in spec.second time, had the service manager drive the car and tested it and told me everything is in spec.he said it has electronic assisted steering and that i would have to get used to it.was at the dealer on monday and told the salesman that sold me the car that it has not gotten any better but seems to be worse.he had no solution other than have me drive a 2017 forte ex and if i liked it maybe he could make me a deal to trade up.drove the 2017 forte and it was not much better than mine, drifted to the left ,so i refused his deali have been driving for 57 years and owned or leased 20 cars and driven them over 3 million miles.in addition i have rented cars 300+ times, the last 4 of which had electronic assisted steering and have never experienced this type of steering problem.the car has only 7600 miles on it but i consider it a hazard to drive.is there an independent testing facility which charges a nominal fee in my area (putnam county ny)that i can go to and try to resolve this problem
The car stops - anywhere - and when i turn the steering wheel all the way to the right it resumes.
Steering has play from side to side.
I was driving on a gravel road a little to fast and my car started to slide from side to side i tried to gain control but couldn't and ended up hitting a metal bridge. The air bags did not deploy as they should have. My whole front right in is damaged and the speed i was going the air bags should have went off!.
Thin paint or defective paint. Paint chips easily.
Rear window shattered overnight for no reason.
I took the car to phil smith kia at 4250 n federal hwy, lighthouse point, fl 33064 telephone (954) 545-7200 and they refused to recall the vehicle. What procedure to adopt in this case?
I was driving 45 on a 4 lane highway the car in front of me had stopped dead in my lane i had plenty of distance to stop but when i applied the brakes i felt the antilock braes vibrate twice and then it felt like i was still going the same speednot slowing me down (i had both feet on brake pedal when i finally stopped).resulting in me striking the car and totaling mine and his. Witnesses said it looked like i had applied the brakes in plenty of time but didn't stop. I did not know he had stopped because he had hit the car in front of him which had pulled to side of road . This was a 4 car accident car 2 hit car 1 and then car 3 hit car 2 leaving car 3 sitting in road which i hit car 3. All because car 2 was looking at a accident in median. I asked to have car brakes checked and they said it would cost to much to hire engineers to check over.
While driving down the road, my antenna shark fin broke off and went flying. Luckily no one was behind me because this could have caused a severe issue had it hit someone or their windshield! i was not able to find the part that fell off.
Engine is blown. Had no prior warning. It happened at a traffic ligh on a major highway.. Check engine light did not come on prior to engine blowing. Temperature gauge did not register hot prior to engine blowing. Check oil light did not come on and stay on prior to engine blowing.
The contact owned a 2015 kia forte. While driving at low speeds, the contact detected a burning odor from the back seat. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and it caught on fire. The origin of the fire was not determined. Both police and fire reports were filed. The local fire department extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an unknown location. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Water leaks from under the dash covering the floor. And making the brand and acceleration peddles wet and slick. Slowing to stop at my hom and my foot slide from the brake peddle and was unable to safely slow down before impacting my husbandā€™s truck.
While monitoring the rear view camera display to avoid obstacles while backing out of a parking space, the video frame froze creating the impression that i was farther away from obstacles than i actually was as i approached them. It was not immediately obvious that the video frame had frozen, and that updated video information was not being presented. When i looked at the video display it was not showing me the actual real-time situation, it was showing me a video frame from several seconds previous. The video froze for several seconds, but i'm unsure of when it actually started to freeze as i was also monitoring my forward view, so when i looked down at the monitor it wasn't accurate. I stopped motion for several seconds and the video started updating. I found myself (my car) much closer to nearby cars than i had intended. A pedestrian wandering in the path of my vehicle would surely have been hit.
While driving my car keeps cutting off
The oil light will turn on intermittently, usually when pressure is applied to the brakes, or the vehicle is in park. While the vehicle is driving, the engine light, oil light, and battery light will turn on and the engine will turn off, effectively stalling the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, and they could not determine the problem nor a solution. The car was then taken to a kia shop, and a faulty oil sensor and faulty crank sensor were determined to be the problem. The sensors were replaced, and the car made it under 6 miles before it stalled again. A broken engine is now determined to be the problem. The car has approximately 66,500-66,600 miles on it, i bought the car when it had about 63,500 miles on it in november, so i only put 3k miles on it, so a broken engine due to consumer error is highly unlikely, since the car has been getting its oil changed and other upkeep regularly throughout the cars life. The car has stalled at 40mph, to like 5mph when i was backing out of a parking spot. The speed of the car does not seem to effect when it stalls, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it stalls. I have gone on a 5 mile trip and it stalls 5 times, and i have gone on a 30 mile trip where it only stalled twice.
I have a complaint againstnalley kia, lithonia, ga, and the effective tires they are putting o the kia forte. I was informed by the service manager chad dalton, that the tire with the bubble is not covered under the road hazard warranty. He tried to say i had hit a pothole and that is what is wrong with the tire. I haven't hit a pothole. I have looked on your site and i see other are having this same problem.i would like this tire replaced, i have only 34,000 miles on the car and they are the original 50,000 miles tire.
Randomly burst into flames while driving down the road. They car had been well maintained and normal maintenance done to it.
Well leaking water in trunk had to let kia store in clarksville, indiana take it to fix didn't fix still paying on a lease and they still will not fix it screwing me over do not ever buy a car from kia store in clarksville, indiana they are crooks mold growing in backseat [xxx].vin unavailableinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
When i turn the car key to the 1st position ( before the car start on) i hear a noise ( like a boiling water) coming from a dash board. I took my car to olathe kia, ks they can not figure outthe problem.i am seeking solution from kia organisation.

Rear window shattered overnight for no reason.
The contact owns a 2015 kia forte. While driving 35 mph, the contact drove over a pothole and the front passenger side tire failed and experienced a blowout. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop and repaired. The failure recurred a second time, and the front passenger side tire suffered another blowout and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired again, but the failure recurred a third time and the contact noted blistering in the front passenger and rear driver's side tires. The tires experienced another blowout and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired again. The failure recurred a fourth time, and the front driver's side tire also had a blowout and needed to be replaced. The brand of the tires varied, including firestone, uhp, and hankook. The contact took the vehicle back to a tire shop where it was diagnosed that the vehicle's rims were too large and there was not enough distance between the rim and the road, which caused the failures. The vehicle manufacturer was made aware of the failures and sold the contact the first new tire. A dealer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no issue. Firestone was made aware of the failure and replaced the tires. The approximate failure mileage was 250.
