In may 2021 my daughter was in a bad car accident while driving my 2014 kia forte. The airbags did not go off and the seatbelts never tightened. Fortunately her and her passenger were not seriously injured and only received bruises on their knees and sore necks. There was so much damage to the front end of the car it was totaled by our insurance company.no warning lights were seen that day or even prior to the accident showing that the airbags weren't working properly. My car was not part of 6/18/18 kia forte recall#sc165 for airbags and seatbelts. The recall was for kia forte 2010-2013. While my kia was a 2014, i did take possess of it in 2013. Starting in january 2014 i brought the car back to the dealership many times because of all the electric issues i was having with it. Since the dealership could not replicate the codes while the car was there kia refused to look into or fix the problems. Electrical issues included doors not unlocking, doors not being able to be opened from inside or outside, windows not opening, headlights coming on while the car was parked, emergency flashers turning on without pushing the button, while driving traction/anti-slide light came on without a reason.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while being driven low speeds. Various warning indicators were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was still operable after a manual restart. Fredy kia (11711 gulf fwy, houston, tx) was contacted, but the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
I totaled my car by hydroplaning into a guardrail and none of the airbags deployed.
Air bag light flashes on and off for few weeks finally resting to steady on. There is no crash case at all.steering wheel makes knocking sound when rotated while the car is not moving.
My airbag light came on and then the steering wheel controls all are not doing what they are intended to do. I did a google search and it is saying the clock spring. It also states that they are made to last a life time of the vehicle. I took it to towbin kia in henderson nv. They confirmed it is bad and not covered under my extended warranty. This is a safety issue being it is the airbag in the steering wheel. And is very expensive to fix. I noticed on the google search many many other people are having the same issue. When i am in the drivers seat whether i am stationary or in travel motion the air bag light is on constant . The cruise control buttons do not do what intended...for example push cruise and it comes on but will go right off. The audio control such as bluetooth button turns radio up ... The call button say please say a command the hang up button won't hang up the call and changes the station on radio. Very confusing. But the clock spring controls airbag and steering wheel controls ....confirmed by kia that this is intended functions . None works . I feel this item should be a recall issue due to safety requirements of the airbags. If the airbags deploys while driving without an accident or if it does not deploy at the time of an accident could be deadly either way.
While driving down the street, heard a rasping noise coming from the steering wheel and then noticed the air bag light came on and stayed on.
Air bag light came on. Sometimes goes off, but then comes on again. Now it is mostly on.
2014 kia forte:vehicle will be stationary, in motion, or turning and the airbag light will turn on and off randomly, it has been staying on in the past few days. Dealership stated "airbag needs replacing, because in an accident airbag will not deploy" this car is only 5 years old with one owner less than 75,000 miles on it. Something is not right with how the airbag was installed by kia manufactures.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the air bags and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle would not exceed 40 mph with the speedometer inoperable. The contact activated the hazard lights and drove slowly until the vehicle regained normal functionality. The contact took the vehicle to ray brandt kia (1884 westbank expy, harvey, la 70058, (504) 356-7072) where the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) however, the warning lights remained illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
I was involved in a car accident in which a man ran a red light as i was going through an intersection. He hit my car right at the "hinge" of the driver's side door and hit me into the car next to me. My side curtain air bags never deployed and he hit me going 35 mph. This is not cool, is there anything i can do about this? my car was totaled and i can tell you that as much as i loved my kia, which i only had for 7 months, not sure i want to buy another....updated 06-16-15 * updadted 9/18/15

My daughter had a car crash on july 22, 2017 due to brakes not working properly. Air bags did not deploy. She was driving on the interstate in tuscaloosa, al and there were no other drivers on the road thank god. Her car hydroplaned and hit a railing. She could have been killed. Unknown about the fault or problem that created the unsafe condition. Her car is at a body shop in alabama so i will obtain repair invoices and police accident report as soon as possible. My daughter does not have car insurance.
On saturday march 26th, 2018 i wss driving north bound on i471 in kentucky. Doing about 50-55 mph while it was snowing/sleeting outside. As i was traveling another vehicle swerved over to get in exit lane while at same time on a right turn around exit lane. Once car did so, i had to press hard, slam on my brakes to avoid being clipped by other vehicle. As i did this i began to spin nor, the esc or traction control took over and i spun out of control striking guard rail at unknown speed. I was uninjured, however as u can see lots of damage to front and driver side airbag did not deploy. I contacted kia right away do to the recent recalling brake stop pedal. I took pictures they required andcs3nt them as, too they were concerned of non airbag deployment. They determined via an engineer with in their dept. Just by looking at photo's that airbag should not have deployed. So, my issue with this is they are making a determination by not physically having vehicle damage to make assumption airbags never deployed. Upon looking at other complaints on here about the same time as mine. This maybe a concern going forward. I have given said automaker to help with repairs from accident. And they seem to trying to avoid these problems with said vehicle.
The airbag light stays on. I've checked and there are no error codes. Controls on the steering wheel also do not work and are unresponsive. The cruise control settings are unreliable and can lead to potential safety problems. After some research it appears to be a defective clock spring. Kia should cover the replacement under warranty.
The contact owned a 2014 kia forte. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip over and crash into a dirt hill. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact suffered minor head injuries that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The dealer (kia of cerritos, 18201 studebaker rd, cerritos, ca 90703, (562) 860-2424) informed the contact of the diagnostic and repair fees; therefore, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that they would contact the dealer to try to get an exception on the fees since the warranty recently expired. The failure mileage was 39,000.
Takata recall needs to recall the breaks on the 2014 kia forte. On novemeber 21st 2016 i totalled my kia due to failure of manafacurer breaks they didnt stop me and i rear ended a car which hot another that hit another. The speed control on the car is very hard to control i bearly push on fhe gas and it zoomed off t went from 0-30 really quick. Durring the wreck i was going approximately 25-30 mph which when i hit the car due to the breaks failing my car bouced off of it and the airbags never deployed. The road was dry it was dark outside ot was 5:58 am and very clear outside. The roads were very dry not slick at alll my car jolted as the breaks tried to stop me but they never atopped me. It was on a back road heading to take my husband to work.
Airbag light on dashboard came on and randomly comes on and off. Sometimes when i just start it it will come on and then go off. Called dealership to ask if any recalls about the issue and they said none. Scared that airbag might go off randomly or not work at all. Read that other years have had same issue and they have been recalled. Never been in accident second owner of vehicle. Had vehicle for 3 years now and get it serviced regularly.
I received a letter of a recall on the airbag.i contacted coughlin kia. They state there in no recall. The airbag light is on like the recall stated.
The airbag light came on, and the horn as well as the steering wheel buttons have all stopped working. I was told that a spring clock needs to be replaced somewhere but i bought the car brand new and its only 6 years old. Also my catalytic converter went out and my car is burning fuel and or oil and no one can tell me why.i wasn't doing anything but a normal drive when these issues began to occur.help
Takata recall.i was involved in a front end collision accident on 6/18/2018 (due to someone running a red light) it caused extensive damage to my vehicle of approximately 4500.00 ..the airbag never deployed. A major concern for me.when i asked both the repair shop and my insurance company as to why the airbag never deployed.the only thing i was told was. "you should be thankful because had it deployed we would have totalled the car!' this does not help with my feeling secure o. My vehicle or help with my anxiety.and definitely does not a answer my questions..
Driver side airbag light came on about a month ago at sam's club in fountain valley, ca.i went to 3 kia dealerships and was told i had to pay $150 just to test it. I didnt have the money, but now the light just stays lit.all of these dealerships are here in southern california.i had my brakes repaired on february 21, and the auto shop tried to attach a diagnostics machine to it, but this system is set so that only kia can diagnose it.
Airbags failed to deploy when vehicle involved in a front-end collision.
The airbag light turns on and off intermittently, usually turning on after starting the car and reaching speeds above 15mph. If i stay around 20mph or below, it will turn off, but if i increase speed it will turn back on. If i stop, turn, or slow down, the light may turn on or off; it is random. The car was not involved in an accident when the issue with started. It appears there has been a recall for similar issues for the 2010-2013 kia forte. The 2014 should be included as well.
Last week my air bag indicator light started coming on. My car has not been involved in any crash for a crash repair to be a factor. I was driving when the light first came on. The light does go off when it wants to. I have tried resetting the car by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, this did not help. I am very scared that the air bags could deploy at any given moment. Today my traction control light illuminated and would only go off if i restarted the car but less than a mile the light came back on. And because this light was on my cruise control would not set.
Srs airbag light started luminating intermittently.disconnected and reconnected cables under passenger side seat and airbag light went off.within 2 days the airbag light is back on.the car was not involved in a car accident.took it to the dealership for diagnostics. There apparently was a recall for this issue but it is for 2010-2013 kia forte.dealer was not yet able to actually tell me the issue causing the airbag light to remain on. Still a mystery.
So as i'm driving, the airbag indicator light comes on. It's steady one minute and then it will go off and then it will come back on. I have never been in any kind of accident for it to do this. It came out of no where.
The kia was moving into the city intersection at a slow rate of speed when a chevy blazer traveling at approximately 60+ mph hit the kia, without breaking and ripped the whole front end off. None of the airbags deployed. This resulted in injuries.*dt
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that her vehicle hydroplaned while driving at 65 mph, which caused her to lose control of vehicle. The contact hit the right guardrail three times on the passenger side of her vehicle. The air bags did not deploy after multiple impacts. The contact nor her passenger needed medical assistance; however, they did both suffer minor scrapes and soreness. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard but was then towed to the contact's home where it remained in her possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be deemed destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 81,000.
Airbag light for passenger comes on and off with or without a passenger sitting in the seat. Airbag light for the driver is on now, as well and will not turn off. The steering wheel knocks when the car is making a left or right turn and the horn has now stopped working because something is in the way and won't allow the pressure in the steering wheel. We have replaced bulbs for the tail light, brake lights and headlights multiple times a year. This can't be normal! we now keep bulbs in the car to be prepared to replace at any time.was involved in a wreck, where a truck ran the red light and hit the passenger side of the car and no airbags deployed. This is troubling and extremely unsafe.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact's vehicle rear ended the preceding vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was damaged, but the contact was able to drive home. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and ordered the contact not to let anyone touch the vehicle until it was examined by the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 40,000.
I was involved in a car accident where a car hit hit me behind and pushed my car into the back of another car causing the frontsmashed boo inpact and bag didn't come out on either side. My car was a dead stop before the inpact from behind on a existing to a off ramp on the interstate.
I bought my car in 2013, had it less than 6 years. The airbag light is on and remains on, the car was not in a car accident when the air bag light came on. The air bag light at first came on and then will disappear a couple times but now has remained on. I took it to the dealership and there is a short circuit in the airbag control unit.there is a recall for this issue but it is for 2010-2013 kia forte.i believe my car should be included in this recall.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the air bag warning light had remained illuminated from two previous accidents in 2014 and 2015 in which neither air bags had deployed. The contact believed that a defective clockspring caused the air bags to not deploy in the crashes. The contact requested that the clockspring be replaced by the manufacturer and an unknown dealer however, the request was rejected by both the dealer and the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Seat air bag detection is on, went off then came back on
I made two appointments back to back to van nuys kia to be brushed off the first time. Second time i get there and they say recall is pending so i need to wait. My time was waisted both times i drove more than half an hour back and forth
The radio turns it's self on and off. One minute the horn is working the next minute the horn is not working. The horn works when it wants to work. The airbag light came on out of nowhere the car was not in a wreck or anything of that nature. Same with the buttons on the steering wheel. If you use the buttons to change the song on the steering wheel it actually turns radio completely off instead of changing the song. And that happens with the volume button as well. I've already been to a mechanic and told them that i think there is an electrical issue but i just get looked at like i'm crazy.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the air bag control module failed and the air bags warning light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags), and referred the contact to nhtsa for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

When car is in motion on a downward slope like on a bridge or where a road is broken, on applying brake it seems like the pedal is touching the ground making grinding noise and car skids and doesn't stop. I have installed new rotors and brake pads on all four sides. When turn on the ignition, car doesn't start at all, doesn't even make clicking sound. When touch the battery compartment positive charge system then car starts with key ignition on. This happens when car is driven throughout the day assuming battery is fully charged. No light ate on when try to start the engine.

The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v015000 (electrical system) and stated that the dealer indicated that the vin was not included in a recall and the contact had to call another dealer to schedule a recall repair. The dealer did not check with the manufacturer and did not address the recall concern. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Updated 6/3/15cnupdated 10/11/2017
The contact owned a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, they noticed smoke coming from the v port where the vehicle charged from. The contact turned the vehicle off once he noticed the smoke. The contact stated that all seats were burned. The contact stated that once the fire department came, the vehicle had caught on fire. The contact stated the fire department extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. No one was injured. The vehicle was not towed. However, the vehicle was deemed totaled. The fire department stated a short fuse caused the fire. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact they would receive a callback. A case was opened with the manufacturer regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 39,483
The cover of the antenna ("shark fin") has fell off possibly due to a carwash. The cover protects the antenna and potentially some other wiring in the car and its radio. The manufacturer (kia) does not replace the (plastic) cover, but rather changes the whole antenna wiring to the radio. This costs (in the dc area) about $650. I do not see the reason why the manufacturer does not have a more inexpensive solution for this rather potentially frequent problem. Is it reasonable to ask for that much money in order to solve an easy to fix problem that if not fixed might mess with the electronics of your car? i think not.
Purchased on june 27 2019. 3 weeks later i stopped by dealership for assistance it's been a nightmare since. Car had been consuming oil and i've spent thousands of dollars for repairs. Just had master mechanic replacing catalytic converter and it's already plugged. Kay on both accounts assured me nothing wrong, nice car has 23 brains it's the echo drive. Engine light blinks and no one can get a code reading, no one but kia. Both service rep, tyler and kia consumer affairs agent, dean thought i was, and referred to me as wharton whom purchased the car 2014 and had engine problems according to these individual that thought i was there for same reason. Dean from kia consumer affairs specifically told me during a phone conversation dec 2020, and verifying my vin number that my vertical was in fact on recall list. I call jan 20th 2021 and told i was not and case was closed due to i being informed of recall to which i called after seeing arrival on line. I'm advised to go on your website with my vin number and find out if i'm part of recall. I am not. Why????. This car obviously is defective if i'm thought to be shannon trying to take kia for a ride and i'm the 3rd owner with same problem as prior owners. This car is not safe. I've turned to kia to begin with and paid for compression tests, replaced catalytic converter over 1000.00 dollars and it needs replacing again due to oil consumption. Fact is i was sold a car with engine problems and have almost been rear end due to power loss, limp mode tyler called it... It's not safe. What can i do now i know i'm out 9000.00 dollars on this car on my ssdi pay. Much more details documented who what when here and what was said. Times and dates for entire duration of events starting with kira at ron bouchards in fitchburg mass july of 2019 and oct 2020.*dtconsumer stated she would like the complaint to be removed from public viewing.*dtconsumer stated kia has no recall on the vehicleeven though oil leak is recalled and will not make a recall appointment.

My car always gets stuck in park if the car is left running (ex. Parked in drive thru to get food and couldn't move). I have to turn the car off in order for it to correct itself. A ton of times my car wont start because it thinks the car is not in park. 1st time this happened while at a grocery store in the summer with groceries in my trunk were spoiling. Sat there for hours waiting on roadside assistance, before calling my old mechanic in another state. He advised me to wiggle the gear shaft further upwards toward park, before trying to start again and it started. 2nd time this happened while traveling out of town, in the middle of nowhere i knew of, at a gas station. Very concerned; extremely annoyed. The guy at the kia dealership says this happens a lot with these cars.
When driving at any speed, and often times when coming toa stop and then starting to accelerate again, the vehicle loses power and turns off. At this point the check engine light, battery light, oil light and others come on. The vehicle then needs to be put in park, and turned off, and restarts with no issue. The fuel pump has been replaced but has failed to resolve the issue. Fucillo kia is also refusing to honor the warranty and continue working on the vehicle until the issue is identified. A flight recorder box was put in the vehicle to record the issue if it were to happen again on one of the occasions they gave me back the vehicle stating they were unable to duplicate the problem. The issue did occur again with flight recorder box in place but they said it did not send any signal stating there was an issue with the vehicle. The vehicle has been to them 6 times and at this point they will no longer work on the vehicle despite it being well within the 100,000 mile/10 year warranty. The issue started at 15085 miles and now at 19,000 miles the problem persists.
Wiring to the heat and air conditioning is melted together and ge fan doesn't work all the time. Dont have air conditioning. And the adapters dont work cant charge phone . Also there is a ticking noise come from the front of car u can hear it when idling but gets worse when u step on the gas going down the road.oil has been charged and is checked frequently. The noise started right after had oil change and tires rotated.
Recall number 17v773 has been performed on my vehicle but the problems still persist.
I bought the car in november2 weeks later driving on december 10 all lights came out car loss power and engine blew off i was driving at around 55mph iā€™m still paying for the car but i never received no notice for the recall i need an answer asap the cae as been in my garage since december 10/2020
Tire pressure light constantly goes on and off,car continually gets stuck in park and while driving dash doesn't show gears. Brought to deal provided pictures as proof and was told they could not duplicate problem. Asked for paperwork and they said they would mail it never received paperwork.
2014 kia forte. Vehicle was engulfed into flames, as the consumer was warming the vehicle up.*tathe fire department stated a component shorted out the engine.
Takata recall, the indicator gauges/sensors on the instrument panel indicating low oil pressure, as well as others are currently not working and my engine is burning oil in excess of manufactures specifications.general knowledge is that this can cause my engine to seize or catch on fire which is an immense safety concern.per the york pa kia dealer, the oil was empty the oil pressure indicator never illuminated.it wasn't until my car was deemed empty that the check engine light came on.car was inspected by dealer and york kia (sept 18) claimed no permanent damage to my engine as a result.(vehicle passed emissions/safety two weeks later - monroe muffler & break, york pa) as my car didn't seem to be leaking oil, subsequent vigilance by me revealed that my car was burning oil.two follow-up visits since september to remedy the problem with lancaster pa kia (last 11/27 - 11/28 (81,500 k on engine) and work with gwc (power train $2,100 warranty) an aftermarket warranty have been rejected despite evidence that my car is burning oil in excess of specs.as i am not the original owner, nor did i purchase this as a certified vehicle, as there is no active recall, kia will not remedy. Maintenance records support that this vehicle wasn't mechanically neglected and maintained by all previous owners.if you request notes from the dealers that i have been working with please call me at [xxx] and leave me a message so i know what the call is regarding.in addition my email is [xxx]thank you.ps.as this is my only vehicle, and not really safe, information that would indicate that a recall for my make and model would be very helpful on how i handle the situation with my current vehicle. Lost around $500 needing rentals etc. Plus worthless warranty.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I was driving on the highway and the car caught on fire as i was driving.
Vehicle was in motion when the electrical went out. The abs, traction control, and steering warning lights came on. The vehicle was difficult to steer to the side of the road. Car had 60k miles. Battery is now on its 3rd replacement. Other prior warning signs were headlights flickering and occasional clicking when starting. These other prior warning signs have occured since 30k miles.
Intermittently, on days of excessive heat (110+) the car will start up with all sensor lights illuminated, cannot shift into gear without pushing the gear shift override button, power steering doesn't work, skid control on, and ac blows hot air. Once it cools down the issue stops and won't present itself again unless very specific conditions are met. Happened first year after having the car, in the summer. Service center couldn't reproduce the issue. Summer year 2, issue happened again, with pictures, service center used heat gun to reproduce the problem. Transmission range sensor/neutral safety switch was replaced.summer year 3. Issue happened on 118 degree day when starting up car. A week later happened on the freeway while driving on another 118 degree day. New issues include tachometer and speedometer stay at 0 even while driving. Also, display that shows range and gas mileage stopped working properly. Range would adjust when gas peddle pushed, mpg stayed blank and did not come back after car had rested and cooled down.
The brake lights went out with warning lights are on in the car that won't go off in the trunk and the dashthe battery has been replaced multiple times and the car won't start if its parked slightly downward
The contact owns 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that upon re-entering the vehicle with a passenger, the vehicle was started and smoke emitted from the charger port. The contact had to pull of the road and turn off the vehicle as the flames erupted which caused the driver and front passenger to have to exit the vehicle. The fire was coming through the lighter/charger port connection. The vehicle was destroyed due to the failure.a fire inspection report was provided after the flames had been extinguished.a dealer was contacted crain hyundai of north little rock, 5660 warden rd, north little rock, ar 72116, (501) 232-4018 but had not provided any technical guidance as of yet. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they may investigate the fire. 100,000.
This car has several issues which i have found other 2014 owners having the same issue as i do. The headlights and taillights take turns going out. I am to the point about every 5 weeks i am replacing a burned out light. One headlight will go out then i fix that. A few weeks later i will get pulled over for a taillight.being out. One officer told me he was giving me a warning because his wife has the same issues with her lights going out. I will replace the taillight then a few weeks later the other headlight will go out then the other taillight will go out. I find myself always replacing a light. I've pulled up to many forte owners to let them know a taillight was out and they all say "again"the lights are a major problem. Also my driver side window won't go all the way up. I have had the problem fixed then about 6 months later the same problem happened again where the window will go almost all the way up but it still leaves a little gap in the window for air to come inside which will cause your car to rock back and fourth from the air flow in and out. Its dangerous as it has even pushed me into the other lane from the air pressure coming through the opening in the window.
Electrical issues have happened countless times. Such as turning on the blinker makes all lights go out in car then turn back on as well as replacing the brake lights on multiple occasions. Engine: should be recalled because it shakes and vibrations often times. The same way the kia optima engine theta ll engine had to be recalled due to engine failure this engine has similar issues and it overall isn't the best car with a passenger safety rating of just 2 or 3 stars. Kia needs to look into this issue with the engine and electrical components and recall them because they are unsafe. My engine should not vibrate the entire vehicle to the point where i'm vibrating obnoxiously. Also the electrical hazards are unreal especially if i have to replace brake lights multiple times. Kia. Look into this and fix it. These things happen whether the car is moving or not.
Headlights and interior lights flickering/going out while the car is in motion or stationary on city streets and highways. Sometimes they don't come back on unless i tinker with the headlight control switch. It is a major safety concern seeing as how i drive daily in the dark to work
Driving my kia forte 2014 on the freeway, as i would accelerate my car would hesitate. I started to accelerate more and it would slowly die down until it completely stopped. Before this incident it would completely turn off at stop lights or stop signs. I got it diagnosed and its the catalytic converter and those are supposed to last a life time. My car is only 6 years old and i had a pontiac grand prix 1989 that lasted 20+ years. Now the inside of my car smells like gas and i just got this car a couple months ago!
Turned onto a fairly narrow street with cars parked on both sides; i was driving down the middle of street until i passed all parked cars; attempted to move back into my lane and steering wheel froze and started jerking; i was headed toward a stop sign pole; i jumped the curb and scrapped right from bumper and tire rim; ignition shut off.took car to dealer; they kept it for testing and inspection for about 2 weeks and found nothing; we wanted to exchange it but they refused since they did not find anything mechanically wrong with it; we took car back and it has been driving well so far but incident is still in the back of ourminds every time we drive it. Updated 10/1/2014
While driving at highway speeds headlights flicker and sometimes shut off and then back on.failure appears immanent.
On september 14, 2014, my wife and i were driving our 2014 kia forte when the car began to smoke. As soon as i pulled the car over to the shoulder, flames came out of the hood. The local fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss. Kia corporate was notified of the incident however, they do not want to investigate. I need help!
On 2/19/2021 i was driving on the hwy and the car was losing power. I don't drive it that much so wasn't sure if it was just me. But as i pulled into a drive thru and was coming to a stop, the car was idling a little rough and the engine was ticking and lightly knocking.also here is a list of continuing issues that we have had over the years since we bought the car brand new with like 12 miles on it. The rear passenger window has never worked. The radio bluetooth always had connectivity issues.then the tire pressure warning light appeared and is still on.the tire shop said it might be a defective tire sensor back passenger.the airbag light is always on now.then the radio antenna fell off the roof, i glued it back on. Recently the buttons on the steering wheel have not been functioning properly, or not at all.and the driver window button does whatever it wants to do, sometimes it will work with some light finesse.
03/08/19 at 5:45am i was entering us hwy 23 n. Bound from central ave. In sylvania ohio. The car was having issues with acceleration as i tried to get on the freeway. Suddenly i heard like a fan noise, the oil light came on followed by the engine light and the car just shut off! i pulled to the side of the road as smoke was filling the cabin. I got out and went around front and flames were coming out between the hood and the fender on the passenger side. I called 911. One police and 2 fire trucks showed up in nothing flat! the fire was moving into the cab. The car is a total loss! after my own research i firmly believe it was the cooling fan resistor. That would explain the noise i heard and the fire.
Had recall repaired on 01-26-18 & had check electrical wire in photo, & why did not start when turn key. No one could find anything including personal mechanic. Found kia forte had many electrical problems & this should not occur with 4 year old car. Occurred 2nd time on 07-20-18 & when wire touched to "tighten," car started. Feels like wants to cut off & you can feel vibration, but seems to keep going. Seems to occur after running then parking, but all lights & bells are working, so not battery. Situation occurred prior to recall for repair & was told to tell kia shop. You have to check manually, not depend on computer as that is only as good as the programmer. It can make mistakes, too.all times vehicle was parked after operating. It could cut out in middle of interstate & cause serious or deadly accident.
Passenger side window won't work and if you tap on the turn signal the lights flicker in the car.
Scratches under the driver side door on car purchased as new may indicate prior use and odometer tamper.
First, instrument cluster intermittently fails and show incorrect range and fuel levels. Speedometer shows car is going 0 mph even when car is moving. Tachometer shows 0 rpm even when car is idling or moving. This has happened two times since 3/8/16. Second, brake pads provided on car are cheap and do not have range i changed the brake pads and rotors for the first time at 10k miles. Third, ventilation system doesn't operate properly and i can intermittently smell burning plastic coming from vents, fan doesn't operate over the 3 setting and a/c doesn't blow cold. Finally, shocks and struts are sub par had to replace at 10k miles due to tire cupping.
Kia forte ex 2014 esc light came on and my brake lights wont light up when stepping on the brake. The brake pedal feels stiff when braking to a stop. Checked all plugs and bulbs and they all are good, called dealer and was told it might be the brake light switch and will take me in on monday.
On two occasions i have smelled gas when starting the vehicle.the date above is the second time.the first was after the car had been parked for 3-4 days after a snow storm in late 2013.the brakes vibrate when stopping on a rough surface.kia consumer affairs attributes this to the design of the anti-lock system and apparently does not consider it a problem.on one occasion - again during a period of cold weather in late 2013 - the gears ground when turning at maximum rotation to parallel park the car in a tight spot, a common occurrence in the urban area where i live.unlike the braking and gas-leak problem, this only happened once.due to an issue with possible odometer tampering i have not taken the car to a dealer to address the other problems for fear they will try to mask evidence other than the scratch on the driver door.
I woke up one day and went to head over to my buddies house. It was a fifteen minute drive and when i got there i told him my car started sounding funny on the way over. The oil was good and everything else so we took it for a drive down the street so he could listen to it. We got to the light a half mile down the house and the engine made a scratching noise and i started to lose power i also felt my steering wheel lose power steering and then i was at the front of the row in the turn lane. My car crawled through the intersection but i made it to the side of the street and my parents towed it home on their trailer. We took it to an auto shop and the mechanic said the engine failed due to cheap stock bearings around the cam. The bearings gave out and the metal shredded inside and was sent through the engine. Since it's pre owned i can't get a new engine and this specific engine in this make and model hasn't been recalled yet.
My car 2014 kia forte ex 2.0l gdi engine was under recall. Took car to dealership for recall and dealership said nothing wrong with it. On the way home from there the car went into limp mode and check engine light came on with engine code p1326 which is due to rod bearings. (which is exactly what this recall was for! )i want this engine replaced just as the recall states!
I was changing the oil on my car and noticed that a hose below the car broke and was leaking some type of fluid. I noticed this about 30 minutes ago, but the issue could have been going on for much longer.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing an engine rod to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of failure and told the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
I was driving down a city street when the oil light turned on for about 10 seconds then turned off for roughtly 30 seconds turned back on then all lights flashed on and the vehicle died. I had to get it towed to a shop and they told me it would need a engine replacment. I called kia and they told me it would cost me 7,564 plus tax and i would have to pay out of pocket to have it towed there, also i did not qualify for any discounts or warrenties.
I replaced my catalycconverter in july, was informed there was an internal oil leak from the engine causing the catalyc to clog and car lose power. Replaced the whole thing over $2000. Now experiencing the same thing again. The vehicle loses power when accelerated. As well can smell the oil burning.
I can not get kia dealership to honor the current engine nhtsa engine recall for my 2014 kia forte! please someone help me!
University kia in waco, texas refuse to recall 2014 kia under the recall notice issued march 9, 2021.
I have been trying relentlessly to get my car in for the recent recall since february 15, 2021. I have made 3 appointments over the span of a month and every single time it was rescheduled. They are refusing to repair the recall on my car. This is a serious issue with the car and i do not feel safe driving while there's a recall for a possible engine fire.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and smoke appeared under the hood. In addition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The smoke entered the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted and taken to wagner kia of shrewsbury (730 boston turnpike, shrewsbury, ma 01545, (508) 581-5700) where the contact was informed that the cause of the failure could not be determined unless it occurred while it was being test driven. The dealer also stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure six times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an unknown part was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 105,000.
Engine has a knocking noise at 88,000 miles. Kia says a new engine is needed and not covered under warranty. This is the same engine and issue that has been recalled for kia optima's.
The car has been making a fluttering noise for a couple of weeks. I took it to my mechanic last week when the car dragged after stopping, and it seemed that it might stall out. My mechanic told me the engine needs to be replaced, and could go at any time.
I had report the issue to kia of tupelo, ms. My card has had two recentissues. The first one being that upon acceleration, white smoke has been noted twice. The car has stalled out twice upon take off on the highway/interstate. This concern me greatly! on my most recent oil change, it was discovered that i have at least two quarts of oil shortage, with no leaks noted.
I was on my way to work and noticed my car started to shake/vibrate uncontrollably while driving. It wouldn't let me accelerate past 40mph. It stopped when at a standstill. Smelled an odor coming from the car. I called kia and told them what has happened. Car was towed to the nearest dealer and i'm waiting for the results now.
Purchased a 2014 kia forte from a new/used auto dealership in late june 2020. The vehicle had been recently serviced by the dealership at the time of sale.on august 2nd, the engine began to knock and the check oil light turned on sporadically a two or three times over the course of about a ten minute drive. The light never stayed on for more than 1 second each time. Because of the light, we drove the vehicle to a mechanic about two miles away. The engine failed as the mechanic started to look at it. The vehicle was towed to the kia dealership where they indicated that the engine had seized and will need to be replaced. There was no evidence of leaked oil prior to this event. Dealer reported shavings in the oil pan. There was no adequate vehicle system warning, for any reasonable period of time, to indicate there was an oil issue
Motor locked up after getting recalls done and kia is saying no recall on motor
I have a 2014 kia forte since september 2013 acquired several days the unit is started having a vibration in the engine. These vibrations are felt throughout the car and when in low or stopped. I took him to the service center where you buy and service technicians always tell me that no faults everything is working well, the vibration that i describe is normal in these cars, this due to the technology of motor bracket. As of today i'm not happy and i understand that the drive is failing. I'm really disappointed with the explanation given me the service center. A new car zero miles per more technology should not have to have much vibration in the engine. Further details of the unit that are wrong are the strange sounds of the valves and the sound engine braking.
It started with a ticking noise coming from my engine like it needed an oil change but it had just had one. I took it to a kia dealership to have it looked at and was told it was the engine. They said that the rod bearings were wearing down and resulting in metal contamination in the engine. They said i needed my engine replaced immediately or risk it locking up while driving. After research i found other models from the same year and the same type of engine have been recalled do to the same issue. I have attached the invoice for the replacement engine.
I purchased my 2014 kia forte ex used with 96,000 miles. It had a clean carfax report and ran great for the first 4.000 miles. The engine started knocking with about 100,000 miles. The car continued to knock so i took car to my mechanic. He stated engine needed to be replaced. He suggested to take to my local kia dealership for assistance. I contacted kia and they said bring in for diagnostics. It was determined by kia service department that the motor needed replacing. They indicated that there was nothing kia would do since the vehicle had over 100,000 miles. One of the service reps tried to find a way to help me but indicated there was nothing she could do.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving 25 mph, the check engine and oil warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to gene messer kia (located at 6006 19th st, lubbock, tx 79407, (806) 776-5600) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 70,000.

I was driving on the highway and the car caught on fire as i was driving.
The contact owned a 2014 kia forte. While driving 15 mph, the contact detected an abnormal odor. Also, while the vehicle was parked with the engine running, smoke was seen coming from under the hood and flames appeared from the front of the vehicle. A police report was filed. The fire department extinguished the fire. The firefighters informed the contact that the vehicle was severely damaged and the cause of the fire was not determined. The contact's significant other suffered burns on the right hand thumb, but no medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owned a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was applied for a split second. A mile down the road, the engine revved and the vehicle failed to accelerate forward as an abnormal noise was present. The contact took his foot off the accelerator pedal as the vehicle deaccelerated, the contact veered to the shoulder of the road. There was smoke present. The contact then noticed there was oil on the road as odor appeared under the hood. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that the engine block had a hole and that the rod forcefully fracture the starter. Century kia of tampa 4340 w hillsborough ave, tampa, fl 33614 was contacted and informed the contact that the warranties expired. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was seen at an independent mechanic the day before the failure for an oil change and engine cleaning. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not drivable. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
As the vehicle accelerates, a loud ticking noise becomes evident. It only happens when the vehicle is accelerating and in drive, it does not make a noise when given gas in park. I took my car in to a mechanic today and they told me i would need an entirely new engine even though it's a 2014 with only 80,000 miles on it. I googled the issue and it appears as though this is a known issue with several other complaints: https://www.carcomplaints.com/kia/forte/2014/engine/engine.shtml
An engine fire recall has already been issued relating to fuel and oil leaks for my vehicle. On two occasions i've taken my car in for repair service to their first kia dealership in simi valley ca, and both times they've refused to complete repairs, saying the manufacturer's repair servers were down and inaccessible for the necessary service. On the most recent appointment (april 9), the service rep told me he'd give me a call once the repair system was back online, but that call never happened. Kia has not replied to my requests regarding this impairment of theirs. Meanwhile my car is burning through 1-3 quarts of oil a week, those gallons of oil loss have already cost me one contaminated catalytic converter, and i lack the work flexibility to continue scheduling fruitless repair visits.my car has a flaw that this recall should fix, but between the dealership and the manufacturer there has been an inability to provide that repair. The ongoing pursuit of those solutions has left me at risk of losing work should this nonsense continue- much of my scheduling flexibility has been exhausted.
In october 2019 i began experiencing engine issues and on 11/16/19 i had a catastrophic failure of the engine of my 5 door 2014 kia forte at night in the middle of a busy road fm528 in friendswood, texas.i had to tow the vehicle 3 times at the cost of approx. $80 per tow and spent an additional $186 to have it evaluated by a mechanic.we researched the issue online and discovered a number of vehicles of the same make and model have been experiencing "piston flap" which is a manufacturing defect of the cylinders.even though my engine is warranted for 100k miles and the mileage was at 88k, kia motors refused to cover the additional towing expense to get it back to the dealership (gay family kia in dickinson, tx) for inspection.i have been without my primary transportation since that time.today, 1/7/2020 the dealership said the engine would be "repaired" not completely replaced.during this entire time kia denied me a loaner car.as a single mom, (which dealership was aware) we had to take my college student son's 1999 truck to visit my family 2 hours away and it had an alternator failure and had an additional tow because of no loaner car.on 12/27 i had knee surgery and the only vehicle i had to drive was a 1997 miata that was a standard.i could not drive the standard due to my surgery and missed an additional 2 days of work.this issue is dangerous and puts consumers at great risk of injury and crash on public roads.kia has done everything in their power to circumvent an acceptable remedy to the situation so i am now turning to nhtsa for assistance.please help!will provide written reports when kia decides to give them to me.i strongly disagree with the simple replacement of parts that will obviously fail once the vehicle passes 100k in mileage.
In june of 2019, i had to replace the engine in my 2014 kia forte. My mechanic said it was due to complete engine failure and when he removed the old engine metal fragments and pieces were found in the oil pan where the engine was literally falling apart. This cost me a significant amount of money to replace and kia was absolutely unwilling to help cover any costs of the repairs and replacement. This is unacceptable on so many levels. I purchased the car from kia in 2014 and when i replaced the engine in 2019 it had 140,000 miles on it. When i was coming back from my son's birthday outing, the car made a really loud noise and when i hit the gas it would not go. We were able to put it in neutral and make it to the nearest pull off spot but had to call a tow truck to have it towed to mechanic shop.
The contact's mother owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal cranking sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who discovered that the oil level was extremely low. The mechanic also mentioned that the vehicle was consuming oil internally however, there were no signs of any leaks in the vehicle. The mechanic also mentioned that the excessive oil burning had caused damage to the catalytic converter. The contact then took the vehicle to kia mall of georgia (4180 buford dr, buford, ga 30519) where they confirmed damage to the catalytic converter. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall and that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. No further assistance was provided. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
2014 kia forte experienced an unexplained catastrophic engine fire while driving down the road at a steady 40mph in 40 deg. F. Weather.all suspension components showed no obvious damage, and the owner did not perform any recent service work.no symptoms such as engine lights or sounds were observed until the car began losing power and caught fire about 60 seconds later.the check engine light illuminated after smoke was observed by the driver who was stopping the car.
Car needs oil every 1,000 miles or so with no leaks.engine eats oil and is always several quarts low.daughter was driving car and it stopped excellerating.catalytic converter just had to be replaced at 82,000 miles.engine noise with vibrations.my daugher is afraid to drive the car.kia says warranty expired 2,000 miles ago and won't fix car.car is extremely unsafe!
I have a kia forte ex gdi purchased used from car max of whitemarsh, maryland. When i started the vehicle, on september 22, 2019, there was a very loud ticking noise. I allowed the car to warm up.as i drove and reached 30mph, on city street, the noise grew louder. When i checked the oil stick it was dry. I get regular oil changes and am not due for another one until my car reached 84,319 miles.my car has exactly 81,6000 miles on it today (september 30, 2019 or 2/13/2020 which ever comes first). My check oil light or engine light never came on to indicate my oil was extremely low. I purchased oil and filled up my car. The noise is softer now but is still there. I received a recall notice for an issue dealing with something that may keep the car from passing emission test. I have an appointment at bob bell kia (who always services my vehicle) in essex maryland on october 17th, 2019, to correct that issue. I notified them of the noice and lack of oil with no indication of such from the cars dashboard. They will check it out on the 17th when i bring the car in for the recall issue. After reading some complaints from other owners of the same vehicle i have, i will not be surprised if they tell me i need a new engine. I still owe $11,107.64 on the car and will not be driving my vehicle anymore until the mechanic can pinpoint the problem. With all the complaints of faulty engines and fire hazards why is the 2014 kia forte ex gdi not included in an engine recall or the class action suit that is already against kia for the same exact issues in their sorento and other models? who can i turn to for help with this issue since i have a vehicle i can not safely drive but still must pay on?
We buy this car in 2 months ago and now the engine is in bad condition
2014 kia forte 63000 milesshuts off at random speedsand when stoping or turning this is a extream safety issuesomethingneeds to be done about this dealer cant figure it out and wont work on it anymoreits has been to the dealer about this issue 4 times a week with no help
I own a 2014 kia forte ex.. When i first got my car i notice a lightly ticking noise coming from the engine a lot of people told me the ticking sound was normal on new engines . It seems to get a bit louder as time when in.. My daughter and i were driving when we notice the sound got much louder and a slapping sounds coming from the engine and my car loosing power and also a burning smoke smell getting much heavier to the point the car just shut off and quit it on us. The dash also got very hot at this point .. We called for tow service and got the car back home ... Was sure what was happening with my car .. Thank you !
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal knocking noise was heard. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (rick case kia, 3190 satellite blvd, duluth, ga 30096, (888) 322-3854) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 12774224. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 75,000.
I bought the car in november2 weeks later driving on december 10 all lights came out car loss power and engine blew off i was driving at around 55mph iā€™m still paying for the car but i never received no notice for the recall i need an answer asap the cae as been in my garage since december 10/2020
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil while driving at various speeds. The check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had the vehicle taken to an independent mechanic where she discovered that the vehicle had a defective o2 sensor. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to stall upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact pulled the vehicle into a parking lot and called her husband for assistance. The contact's husband attempted to jump-start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact then purchased a new battery however, the failure persisted. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked her failure to nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) however, her vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I received a recall letter for my engine telling me to bring in my vehicle in to have it checked out to be inspected and if necessary, repaired or replaced at no cost. My check engine light came on shortly after receiving this letter which prompted me to bring my vehicle in to van nuys kia. Long story short my service advisor came back eventually, telling me that kia declined my claim for having too many miles and also that i would be charged for bringing in the vehicle, even though the letter explicitly said would not be. My main problem here is that another customer, with the exact same car, 2014 forte, took his car in with over 200,000 thousand miles and got it replaced with no problem. No mention about mileage or anything but the main reason i was declined was for having 170,000 miles when the cut off was at 150,000 and i have to pay around 7,000 to have it fixed. The recall letter mentions nothing about not being allowed to bring the vehicle in after 150,000 and even if it did, does kia get to pick and choose who they help?
On 2 occasions the car has stalled while making a left turn.the first time it was in april 2014.2nd time it happened was around july 29th 2014. I first report it to the dealership back in march when i took the car in for a oil change. They would not put it down on the paper work to look at it since they could not replicate the problem. Then reported it to a different dealership as well as kia. The new dealership did put it down on paperwork. But since they are not able to replicate the problem, they would not look into it further. Also have reported a engine noise to the first dealership. They first told me it was a standard noise. So we started getting videos of the noise. They then said they would replace the engine. The same day that we picked the car back up from the engine being replaced we heard a noise coming from the car. Some how the right drive axle got broke. They said they did not work around that area.so then that means that they committed fraud by falsifying docs when they said they replaced the engine. 2 days after finally getting the car back the engine noise came back.now i got told that they will not look at the car until the check engine light comes on or the car comes in on a tow truck. Now the biggest concern is the car just stalling while driving? what happens now if we get into a accident.this really needs to be looked at. Kia needs to be held responsible for this.it is not normal for a car with less than 14,000 miles on it to just up and stall. I am tired of hearing everything is standard. Kia is fraud they do not want to honor their warranty that they sell.
Takata recall i was driving to work when heard a bang in the motor pulled over and heard knocking in motor. Turned motor off and checked fluids and all we're normal.. I have a safety recall on this vehicle already and with the recent recalls announced i believe my car is one of the affected vehicles because there was no warning at all that there was something wrong until the noise happened. And only 74000 miles on vehicle
I discovered along with other kia forte/k3 owners that when it rains, whether it is moderate or heavy, massive water leaks inside engine compartment.this also happens when the car is parked and not move an inch and still i found water all over the engine(after rainy day), battery terminal, fuse case, air filter case, and majority of left side of the engine room as well.dealer told not to worry, but i've had many cars in the past that never experienced this flaw.i'm afraid this can lead to massive engine/rust possibly fire from massive water droplets and high temperature of engine and all kinds of connectors that is exposed as a result of this.i plead nhtsa to investigate this critical and dangerous flaw posed by kia and their irresponsiblesolution of ignoring passenger safety.as of now, i stopped driving in the rain, and this is extremely inconvenient as a working commuter.i would first test the part where window wipers meet and pour some water there, and then i would use pressure wash to just spray the hood and you'll find what i mean.moderate rain should not create this much water leaks all over the engine compartment.thank you.best to contact me via email if needed.
The car very hard to start. After many times of trying to start the car it does start it will not read the cars rpm. Many times the car has just shut off while driving or sitting at a light or stop sign. The engine does not seem to be running smoothly.
On july 17,2019 my kia forte 2014 stop on i-75 northbound in perry, ga with a 18 wheeler on my tail @80mph. I had no power it just cut off. This was after a oil change @ walmart in cordele, ga 13 days earlier there was no oil and it had run out from the filter. Both ase certified mechanic @ hutchinson kia and an independent certified mechanic. Dealer couldn't determine leakage, second sound the engine was cracked caused problem. It was a dangerous situation for my daughter her life was in danger in fast high volume interstate traffic. The engine has a deficiency in these gdi engines, should recalled. I was told by a reliable souce that both the kia's and their sister company share the same engine and there have been problems with both engine type gdi 2014 model kia forte and other models with this kind of engine.
I have had two accidents ,the first timewhen i went to try and start my car up and it would not start up. Kia replace my fuel pump, believing that was the issue. The second they told me they could not diagnosis a problem so it was nothing that they could do.
I started the car one day and it started idling rough and smoking. We checked the oil and it was a quart and a half low. It was not leaking oil.once we added oil, it no longer idled rough or smoked. But now it has a ticking sound coming from the engine when i accelerate. It also started loosing power in certain instances. I will be accelerating and the car will start hesitating. The car only had 62,000 miles on it when this started.
Check engine light came on.the car started to shake as well as flashing check engine light while on the highway.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming excessive oil and there was oil leaking onto the ground. The contact had to put 1 to 2 quarts of oil for every trip. There was also smoke coming from the engine and a loud knocking noise was heard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on four separate occasions and the dealer refilled the oil. However, the dealer could not diagnose the failure. The contact stated that the dealer attempted to make her sign a waiver but when she refused, the dealer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned that the vehicle may catch fire. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer but was not able to speak to a live representative. The failure mileage was 54,498.
I was driving the motor just went out. I check the oil it was leaking out.
On 08-05-2019 i was traveling onto the interstate, upon acceleration my automobile begin to power down, in front of a tractor trailer. I attempted to move over to the right shoulder but the car wouldn't accelerate to do so in a safe manner. After about one minute of continuously acceleration, the car begin to move. I have brought this to the attention of kia in the past, the car has been taken to several kia dealership with no resolution. This remains to be an extreme safety concern, that could become deadly. On 08-03-2019, in an unrelated incident i witnessed a kia soul burn to the ground after catching fire; simply put these vehicles appear to be very unsafe for operation.
As the vehicle accelerates, a loud ticking noise becomes evident. It only happens when the vehicle is accelerating and in drive, it does not make a noise when given gas in park. After multiple complaints of the same issue with 2014 forte gdi engines and the fact that the 2014 fortes were not included in the class action lawsuit, i decided to file this complaint for fear that my engine will soon seize like the many that i've read online. My car only has 61,000 miles on it and is just out of warranty.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the engine would run rough and white smoke was present coming from the exhaust tail pipes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that the spark plugs were covered in oil and that the engine was consuming oil. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer all star kia located at 27700 juban rd bldg. 2, denham springs, la 70726 and manufacturer were notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 159,000.
My vehicle began ticking and emitting large clouds of smoke from the exhaust. I received a letter advising me that my vehicle is included in a safety recall. I took it to ed voyles kia in chamblee, ga and was told the issues are not related to the recall. I find this difficult to believe. The car has appox 150,000 miles. I do not feel safe driving it based on the fact that other affected vehicles have had engine compartment fires and that the cause of the fires has not been identified. If the cause has not been identified, how can they rule out my vehicle? i am super concerned and feel that my health and well being is not valued. Please help me.
While in motion, on three separate occasions on one drive, the engine of the vehicle completely shut off. The electrical system remained active. All three times the engine shut off while accelerating. Once after slowly going over railroad tracks. Once after backing out of a driveway and giving gas after going from "reverse" to "drive". And finally, when slowing for a turning vehicle and accelerating to go up a slight incline. I had a mechanic look it over and despite checking and testing every common cause, he could not recreate the scenario. Also, he reported that there were no diagnostic codes thrown as a result of the event.
While driving on the freeway, engine died and then restarted. The car engine started to make a loud noise and it would no longer shift, so manually shifted and the engine temp gauge began to rise so, pulled over and shut the engine off and called aaa to tow the car to a dealer.kia dealer advised that cylinder 3 rod bearing failure occurred which sucked all the oil into the engine (they said that is how they immediately knew what the issue was).we just bought this car 6 weeks earlier, but i could not afford the extended warranty. Wei had a tune up and oil change 2 weeks earlier and we faithfully check the oil to ensure it is as expected.the dealer advised there was no way we could have avoided the engine failure, and we needed a new engine. The costs was $5,111.96 to replace.we cannot afford to get rid of the vehicle and i was forced to replace the engine.now we having over $12,000 between buying it and fixing it. Failure on a freeway is unacceptable, especially during rush hour. Kia needs to do something about these engines as this should never have happened.maybe if enough people report these issues, they will be forced to fix the problem and reimburse people like us that cannot afford these kind of problems.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated while her fianc was driving 35 mph, when he heard an abnormal noise and started to notice a"burning" smell inside the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park at a near parking lot and inspected the vehicle. The driver decided to drive to his destination and while exiting the parking lot, when the vehicle began to stall. The contact stated the check engine warning light was illuminated then. The vehicle was not drivable. The driver was able to push the vehicle back into the parking lot. The contact called local dealer taylor kia of boardman (7870 market st, youngstown, oh 44512: (234) 719-4839) and were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine), however the vin was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
Excess engine wear may be indicative of other models that have been recalled, car is under 100,000 miles as of today.excessive engine knock caused concern and kia claims it needs a new engine, but i have noticed quite a few other models all have the same issue, just not including the forte yet.car knocks both sitting still and in motion, knocks faster during driving.
My car shakes when you hit the brakes//doesnt drive smooth at all. Somehow the oil leaks through the rings in the engine and i cannot keep oil in it. I refill the whole oil container at least once a month now and put oil stabilizer in it. If i get an oil change, it is empty the next week.
After engine replacement 12/2020, continue to have problems with stalling, randomly not starting, various light ups on dash, rpm gage not moving.
Engine has been using oil for last 15 to 20,000 miles approximately 1 quart every thousand miles. Engine started to knock about 120000 miles. Oil changed religiously every 3 to 4000 miles. I i'm a professional mechanic and engine machinist disassembled the engine found contamination in bearings, main bearings and rod bearings. Unusual wear not generally seen in other manufacturers engines.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving 30 mph, an abnormal knocking sound was heard coming from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (shawnee mission kia used cars, 7810 shawnee mission parkway, overland park, ks 66202) where it was diagnosed that the motor failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.
On 02-04-2019, my vehicle completely shut-down while driving. I have experienced this in the past. Kia has been contacted about this. This vehicle has been to the shop on various occasion, nothing has been done to specifically address this issue. The is a major safety issue that could be life threatening if not properly addressed.
I started trying in 2015 or 2016 to have my engine replaced and compensated for the purchase of both engines for the two kia's i bought brand new when the engines went out on both of the cars weeks apart. Please can anyone help me with this situation, as i am at my wits end to be compensated for something that should have been taken care of the first time i reported their engines going out on two cars bought the very same day. Also on the kia ending in vin # 9225, it sat at the dealership for almost two years before i could even afford to have the motor replaced for it and the other one a little later. At the very least that can be verified, that i was paying on cars that weren't even running and just sitting until i could afford to replace the motors. I was on my way home from work when the engine light came on and the car started to just not want to move anymore. I barely made it home and eventually took it to kia and was told the engine went out. I can only give an approximate date from the email of when i inquired about the motors later on when i could afford to have them replaced. I will have to get a copy of the receipt for the motor replacementof one of the kia's from my daughter. I was told to contact kia to verify the motors were replaced, but they wanted to charge me and i can't afford the amount for either of the cars to verify engine replacement on the cars. The repair shop that replaced the motors is no longer in business and the phone numbers are no longer associated with the business even though they still show as being open. I have emailed and contacted the information on the business's site, but no response at all. Please can someone help me with kia in assisting with this matter as it should have been taken care of the very first time i called to report to the issue. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.
After repairing my car the first time 3 months ago for some major catalytic converter issues causing the car not to run, my car has now completely seized up. Since my car has hit 120k miles it has been consuming an alarming amount of oil. There were no leaks that could be identified and no major issues at the time explaining the oil consumption issue. I have had to continuously put quarts and quarts of oil in this vehicle and had repaired the cat converter issue along with replacing the spark plugs and the wiring and the normal tuneups. As i was driving down the road yesterday i noticed that my car was not accelerating as it normally does so i pulled over and to my surprise the oil i had just put in it was completely gone, no leaks, no lights, no warnings, no indication as to what was going on. I then put 2 quarts of oil in the car and drove home and realized the car was rattling a little bit, i let it sit in park while on and then headed out down the road where the car made a loud hiss noise and jerked across the road. My engine had seized up with no explanation and almost caused me to wreck. I now have a vehicle with a seized engine and still owe 7k on it. I really hope that these year/make/model is looked into because this could have been potentially dangerous and it is not fair to the people who have spent their hard earned money on a brand new car.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased second hand. While driving various speeds, the vehicle shook. The contact had the oil replaced with synthetic oil upon the advice of an independent mechanic; however, the failure continued. The contact had to constantly add oil to the vehicle. The last oil change was performed on august 16, 2019; however, half of the oil had depleted by august 28, 2019. The contact also stated that the vehicle experiencing issues accelerating, a burning odor was present, and smoke was observed. Oakland kia (2424 webster st, oakland, ca 94612, (510) 267-0688) was contacted and stated that there was no recall or warranty to cover therepairs. The dealer scheduled an appointment for september 12, 2019. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and advised that the vehicle be taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000.the consumer stated the dealer advised the catalytic converter failed. It was not covered under the recall.
I received a recall letter stating that my car is part of a recall involving a defect in the engine that could cause an engine compartment fire and increases the risk of injury. I took my car to the dealership to address the recall. The mechanics at the dealership stated that my vehicle would need a new engine and that the engine will fail. Kia manufacturer is refusing to replace the engine even after their mechanics have told me countless times i have brought the car in that it needs a new engine. I have had to bring my car to and from the dealership 3-4 times now in the last 3 weeks after my check engine light keeps turning on and flashing continuously and my car won't accelerate like normal and will not drive past 40 mph. I have to floor the gas pedal just to move the car. Before i received this recall letter and took my car in to get looked at, i had no issues with my car accelerating and have never had a check engine light but now all of a sudden my car doesn't drive. The dealership damaged my car and are denying any wrongdoing. This is extremely dangerous to have my car in this conditioni'm not willing to risk my family's safety or my own safety because the dealership won't take responsibility and the manufacturer won't go through with the repairs that need to be done for safety reasons and replace my engine. The manufacturer is not listening to their mechanics that have told me the engine is guaranteed to fail. My vehicle is not drivable and kia will not do anything to fix the problem. I have no reliable transportation and the dealership will not give me a loaner car to drive for the time either.
Engine failed without any warning lights and had a strong burning odor, after researching gdi engine in this model and other kia models the problems were simular except for recall on the forte model
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) however, eight days later while driving, the vehicle shifted into limp mode and failed to operate as designed. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the engine needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.
I already know about kia and their loud engines due to being an gdi engine.but this was not the high pressure fuel pump.this was a slapping type of noise that is not relative to the engine rpms.after thinking it was the timing chain being loose, it was discovered that the engine has was they call engine slap.after reading and seeing a lot of videos online about this, the engine has a design flaw in that the piston skirts are to short.replacing the engine with new or remanufactured is only going to fix the problem for a short amount of time.not thrilled that my 2014 kia forte ex with the 2.0 has only 76000 miles and now the engine needs replaced.even called the dealer and they said they are replacing a lot of the 2.0 engines and of course the 2.4 due to the recall on those.of course there is no recall on the 2.0.this noise occurred the day of my oil change and while going down the highway at 75 mph.no lights, no warning.and yes the oil level was good.mobile 1 synthetic.
At approximately 100k miles in 2018 car began consuming what i deemed more than normal oil between 4000 mile service intervals as well as began a slight knocking sound. Kia dealership attributed this to 100k miles and normal engine wear. Knocking went from slight irritation to something is seriously wrong in the summer of 2021 at 155k. Had vehicle towed to my local kia dealership for inspection where they informed me the engine was shot and needed replacement for around $7500. Took the car back home via tow truck as i did not have that kind of money for a car i had just paid off finally. Did research which led me to believe kia had some known engine issue directly related to what this seemed to be and it was believed they would issue a recall. Held onto car until recall was issued and again had it towed to dealership. Dealer immediately informed me that i did not qualify for the recall repair as i was 5k miles over the limits for said recall sc200. My reading of the recall stated they would do repair up to and including engine replacement and warrant work for 15 years or 150k miles which ever came first. They stated this was limit for repair and not warranty. Contacted kia consumer affairs and have been getting the run around for 3 months now as to whether or not they are going to repair my vehicle. I feel at this point i am fighting a losing battle for known issue and kia has lost a customer for life as i wish i had not purchased the one i have now if i had known they were not going to stand behind their product. Out of the roughly 300k vehicles i doubt many will meet this criteria if that is indeed what it is so they will look good in saying they are recalling and fixing when in reality they are not fixing many at all.
Car had began burning through oil rapidly but upon inspection at oil changes, no leak or cause could be detected. The oil light indicator never came on either. The car would begin ticking while driving, and noticeably drove differently but problem could not be determined. No check engine light ever came on.on a clear day while driving about 45 mph on highway, vehicle gave a loud and forceful jerk and popping sound, and promptly lost power and speed, and the brakes quit working. I was fortunate to pull off and use ebrake to stop car once coasted to a safer spot. I could have been rear ended. The car had once again burned through all oil with no indication from the panel, and i was told the engine had blown. Apparently this is a very common problem with these vehicles, this make and model, with no recall being done; however, there is a class action lawsuit because of same issue with this engine in other kia models.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine). The vehicle was taken to hagerstown kia (10307 auto pl, hagerstown, md 21740, (301) 739-7283) where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of failure and declined to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
Took my kia forte 2014 in for an inspection, and instead received an ecu upgrade due to some kia campaign sc150. After the upgrade, my vehicle began to have issues. The very same day after leaving dealership, my car began to stall and blow a lot of white smoke from exhaust. I was pulled over by a stranger who informed me of that the white smoke exhausting blinded his view. Kia has been disregarding this safety concern.

While driving the vehicle in june 2020, the engine started knocking loudly and caused the vehicle to vibrate so i shut off the vehicle.after being towed, the mechanic stated the rod blew through the block and knocked out the starter. The engine needs a full replacement and based on my mechanics review this would not have happened had the 12/2020 recall been conducted more timely. The kia recall # stated kia dealership would pick up the vehicle & inspect for free. The dealership has refused to work with me or my mechanic, advised it would not be covered based on being out of warranty and avoids explaining why it isnā€™t covered or what the actual recall is (they will only state the name of the recall, not why or the details).
I've had the car for almost 3 years and never had any major problems and kept up on the routine maintenance and one day i drove it to the store and back home went to get back in later about a hour or so never started again. So i called my roadside assistance and had my 2014 kia forte towed to a repair shop where they determined the engine had failed. I don't understand that.
My 2014 kia forte suddenly started making a knocking sound and shut off while driving down the interstate. After towing vehicle to the shop i was told that the engine needs to be replaced. The mechanic told me he does not understand why as there was not anything that could have caused this. Are fluids were good and clean. Upon reviewing kia had problems with this engine in other vehicles which led to recalls.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the engine seized while driving approximately 25 mph. The failure occurred without warning. Hometown kia (111 midtown ave, mt hope, wv) diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
I own a 2014 kia forte and was hearing a ticking / knocking when i drive. Ā i dropped it off at service station milton to be looked at. Ā the next day 4/1/21 i got a from them and he notified me that my engine is under 2 recalls by kia and needs to be replaced. Ā he recommended that i have it towed there due to it not being safe to drive. Ā he spoke with kia to let them know it was on the way with the reason of the engine recall. I have a certified 2014 kia forte with 115,000 miles and i have had the car 5 1/2 years.i also have an extended warranty for 8 years and 150,000 miles which i am in the clear of.kia american is refusing to fix my vehicle.main reason is because i am a secondary owner.that is not what is says on my agreement and warranty paperwork.they are still refusing to fix and cover the recall.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, he heard a knocking noise coming from the engine and a burning fuel odor was detected. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was first taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with damages connecting rods. Rods that connects the piston to the crankshaft from the bottom part of the engine. The mechanic contacted the kia manufacturer for support and was informed there would be a recall from nhtsa coming out soon relating to the failure. The contact stated he received a recall notification with nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) and that was the failure the vehicle experienced. The vehicle was then taken to hansen kia ( 2300 carriage loop sw, olympia, wa 98502) for a recall inspection but was informed that the failure was the top part of the engine and not related to the recall so the recall repair was denied. The vehicle was later taken back to the independent mechanic and the failure again was diagnosed as the bottom part of the engine that had a broken rod bearing relating to the recall. The contact informed the kia dealer of the independent mechanic's diagnostic and provided photo evidence but was again denied the recall repair. The contact stated that the recall for the vehicle was no longer showing on vin tool when he searched it using his vin after the dealer performed the recall inspection, the manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 50,800.
Bought vehiclenused from private party. Ran good looks greatdrove 500 miles engine started making a knocking sound and shut off smoke from under hood. Opens hood and saw/smelled burning under engine cover, pulled cover and saw melted wires and melted plastic. Engine was locked up. Towed to local garage and was determined engine out a rod through the block and something was definitely burning kn top at 1 poi t. Emailed kia got a case # but have been placed on hold for over 30 min prob longer couldnt wait at least 3 different times.dealer was no help and said i needed to contact kia corporate. Such a shame! 89,565 miles and i have a broken vehicle.
I was driving at about 50 mph and rpms were jumping to 5&6 for no reason. The engine started knocking, so i pulled over & the engine shut off. Mechanic says engine failure due to a broken rod on cylinder 3.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated while driving 25 mph the vehicle started to emit hot air from the engine compartment into the cabin of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired nor diagnosed. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) for which the vin was included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,600.
Mileage 109000. Driving along a heard knocking in engine. Pulled to side and waited for it to cool down and checked fluids. Everything was good. Started back driving and knocking increased and then engine shut off causing us to coast from 60mph on a 4 lane road. Luckily was able to drift to a safe spot to pull over.
My 2014 kia forte with a 1.8 l engine randomly stall and lost all power while driving. Oil emergency light comes on. We took our 2014 kia forte to our mechanic. They drained the oil and found metal shavings in the oil panel and said we need an engine replacement. We took our vehicle then to our local kia dealership and they said our rod bearings are scraping causing the metal shavings. Our kia forte has 112,000 miles and is out of warranty and kia said we have to pay out of pocket to replace the engine. We believe that this should be covered by an extended warranty due to the class action settlement against kia.
The car manufacturer refuses to honor the advertised warranty for vehicle [xxx].the vehicle was in motion driving straight on the interstate 5 southbound. It experienced a kind of road hazard like a small rock somewhere between exits 210 and 205. The impact was minimal and made only a small noise against the underside of the vehicle so there was no reason to think the vehicle suffered damage or needed to stop. However, the check engine light came on after 3 or 4 miles. The vehicle was brought to a stop immediately on the side of the interstate before exit 205.the vehicle's oil pan was punctured, and the engine oil was drained out. The engine had suffered critical damage. The vehicle was then towed to a kia dealership in glendale, ca. Repair costs were quoted to be $7,332.63. Kia deemed the repairs non-warrantable due to the damage being external. Kia offered goodwill assistance at a reduced price of $4532.00.however, i feel that this should be completely covered under the warranty. The complaint is for the amount of the repair described above ($4532.00). The complaint is against the structural integrity of the oil pan and the engine which became critically damaged from such a minimal impact. The complaint is also against the warning system of the car which failed to notify the engine oil leaking at such a high rate in a timely manner before the vehicle suffered critical damage and put the passen gears at risk. Recall issue on that pertains the fan belt.
The car in question is a 2014 with about 160k miles, bought used on 12/2019 from dealer who sold it to previous owner. Low oil light was flickering. Checked level and nothing showed on dipstick, despite oil change at dealer before purchase. Added a quart and decided to go to oil change place. While accelerating in to traffic, engine was hesitating then lost nearly all power accompanied by loud rattling (like marbles) from engine. Managed to get off road with engine getting increasingly louder and vibrating badly, clearly out of balance somehow. Engine stalled and would not restart. After towing to mechanic, they also noted that it was running very rough. Checked oil and noted that it was full of metal shavings. I've attached a photo of the oil control valve packed with these shavings. Technicians advised that engine was a total loss. The 2.0l engine in this car is the exact same engine built in the exact same time period that kia was forced to recall (sc147) in other models but for no apparent earthly reason it was not included! how can this happen? why wasn't the engine recalled across the board? all symptoms noted in the complaints here and in the recall match: sudden low oil level, loss of power, metal shavings working their magic throughout the engine internals, catastrophic failure soon after. Replacement engines seem to have been discontinued and aren't available in the rebuild market. I've already sunk money on towing and diagnostics on the thing, and i'm going to have to pay to get what is basically a brick right now towed back to the house. I'm going to try once again to get through to somebody at kia customer support, but i think we all know how that's going to turn out, don't we?

The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving, a ticking noise was heard from the engine, and the vehicle hesitated and almost stalled twice. The vehicle was taken to alm kia south (4310 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291, (678) 827-8900) for an oil change. The contact was informed that a new engine was needed because oil was burning in the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine was burning oil. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who stated that there was no oil in the engine. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

The vehicle has spun a rod bearing of the internal engine. It is available for inspection upon request. Engine damage puts driver, passengers and all bystanders at extreme risk. Dealer has confirmed rod knock. Other automotive shop diagnosed spun rod bearing. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. The check engine light came on immediately before failure.
When driving down the road our kia motor started to knock. A loud clunking sound ensued and it struggled to work. We brought it to kia and they said we needed a new motor that cost 4700. This car is less than 7 years old with great care. Millions of other kias have had the same issue and recalls have been made but i am forced to pay out of pocket for an issue that is no fault of mine. Kia needs to be held responsible for the costand labor for a new motor. They have shown through the many calls that customer service is not their way. This issue needs to also be resolved buy issuing a recall for all kia 2014 kia fortes. Countless people are held responsible for the poor actions of kia motors dealers.
My cars check engine light came on and then recently my low oil light indicator has been flashing. We checked the oil and it is fine. Then on april 19 while driving down the road and my car completely stalled out and i had to steer to the side of the road to safety.i looked and all the lights are light up on the dash, i placed the car in park, turned the car off and waited a few minutes, and turned the car back on.i made it home safely. Now the engine is making a funny tapping noise. I had surgery so i was leaving to go to a doctors appointment today, started the car, and was backing out of my parking space and my car stalled out. I repeated the process of putting park, waiting a few minutes and turning it back on, but was too afraid to drive so i missed my appointment and researched 2014 kia forte.there came up an article about there being a recall on those cars.when reading and investigating further my car is doing exactly what the recall states. Check engine light eliminated, low oil light, car stalling, and engine making noise.they state to call kia with the recall sc200 about this recall because of the risk of fire and death. I call my local kia dealership they tell me it's not under the recall and they tell me they can't look at the car for the recall because it's not included. So i called kia customer service.explain to the girl what is happening and she tells me that there is nothing they can do and can't check it for the recall because the vin isn't included.i now have a car i am afraid to drive due to the risk of it catching on fire or being in an accident because it stalling out.the recall states 2014-2015 kia fortes and fortes koups.i have a 2014 kia forte that is exhibiting all the signs under the recall, but according to kia i'm not included.

During the failure, the vehicle loss power steering assist and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn in either direction. The check engine warning light and oil light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the engine coils however, the failure persisted. After receiving notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine), the vehicle was taken to kia of greenville located at 2424 laurens rd, greenville, sc 29607 however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
While driving my car on the highway at 60 miles per hour, my car shut off and all the light on the dash board went out and the car would not start. I try to restart my car and it would not start again. As i got it off the road, i try to restart the car with no luck and white smoke coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light that came on while driving the car. The smoke smelled like electrical in nature.

2014 kia forte ex 2.0 liter gdi engine has knocking noises. When i took it to grossinger kia of lincolnwood, il they quoted over $4,300 + labor due to metal shrapnel in the engine and they told me that i needed to replace the short block of the engine. They told me that the car was out of warranty because i was not the first owner and that the engine was only covered until 60,000 miles. I bought the car used around november 2018 when it had around 61,000 miles because it had a clean carfax history but i noticed the knocking noises became increasingly louder until i took it to the dealer. I've searched online and it appears that hyundai/kia has a manufacturing defect with their gdi engines as there are currently lawsuits concerning their engines failing due to a manufacturing defect. I believe this car also has a defect engine and an investigation should be done to compel them to repair their defective engines.
The car was having some ... Pause, when pressing on the gas so it was taken to a kia dealer and they said it was the fuel injection so we paid the 200 plus dollars to get it fixed, this happen on a friday, after the fix we feuled up and saturday the car was not used on sunday morning getting to church the car motor was on fire. This happened near thacker ave
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate and made a sputtering noise when the engine was started. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
The 2014 kia forte ex has always had oil changes on time at about every 3000 miles. The car has always been operated in a respectful manner as much money was spent buying the car. Never had any problems with the car until recently started to vibrate excessively at idle, then started to make a nocking noise in the engine especially under load. Wedo not know if the car is safe to drive. I am waiting on a knock sensor software update recall letter. This lets us know kia dealerships have the ability to perform this part of recall as they are unable to do this as of 02/03/2021. I sure hope we can get this quality and safety problem resolved. The car has only 70060 miles on it. Engine failure should not occur this early on. I have never experienced any type of major engine failures with a car with this low of miles on it. Very likely a machining or engineering defect. Recall sc200. Took to dealership today said there is nothing they can do yet so to speak. They said it passed the part of inspection they are able to do so far. Kia headquarters in ca said nothing can do yet. We agreed wait to get software update. Meanwhile we have a car that we are afraid to drive, makes loud nocking noise. Recall sc200
Car has been serviced regularly and has only 120000 miles on it and the engine has started ticking. The engines bearing are worn out. This is not typical for a car at 120,000 miles on it.
This happened back in june of 2019. I left work normally and not even 2 minutes down the road, my car started struggling to move forward. It was bucking and could not accelerate, but still trying to go forward. Then suddenly it started making a very loud tapping noise, still bucking and then a large pop and the car stopped moving since it died in the middle of the road. This all happened within a matter of seconds. Smoke started seeping out of the hood of my car. I had no lights on in my car on my dashboard.i always had free regular maintenance(oil etc.) done at my kia dealership. I obviously had to have it towed and got it to the dealership so they could look at it in the morning. They said they didn't know why, but my entire engine had just blown out for no reason. My car was only at 87,000 miles and it was just totalled. I wasn't worried initially because i paid extra for the warranty to fix any major problems like this, however i came to find out the warranty refused to cover the entire cost to replace the price of a new engine in my vehicle and on top of that, when the engine blew it killed the computer in my car, and the dealership also strongly advised i replaced several other things on the vehicle. I'd have to pull out my receipts to give you all an exact amount but we paid at least $5,000 - $10,000 out of pocket for the engine and computer alone.today is may 8th, 2021, almost 2 years later and i just happened to be on kelley blue book trying to see what i can sell my garbage kia for. I happened to enter my vin into the recall checker and i could not believe my eyes, engine recall issued late 2020. I have not been notified by anybody about this and probably would have never been told seeming as they already basically stole my money from me 2 years ago. I am really hoping you can help me resolve this and more than happy to provide anything you need.
My vehicle was sold to me under a warranty.upon driving the engine lost all power. Would not restart. Engine has been replaced twice by kia. As well as a replacement oil pan randomly. My long time mechanic said the oil pan wasn't needed to be replaced.1st replacement engine was defective. In total the car has had 3 engines. Emissions problem ever since. Light on and kia has billed and used all of the warranty coverage.all documentation providable.all oil changes providable.
Engine failing.cylinder #3 is making noise.no noise when switched off. Internal part has begun to fail;dealer recommends that replace engine.no kia warranty coverage because we are second owners.
Vehicle burns all oil in between 3000 mile oil change. No low oil pressure warning light.lagrange ga kia dealership did not detect any leaks .
Engine knocking and they replaced under warranty.car had 86,000 miles.drove car to work next day and it caught on fire while driving home on busy highway.kia corp knows of a problem with fuel pump and lines needing to be replaced once engine is replaced but failed to let their dealerships be aware of this issue. Also why is the forte not on recall list as many kia fortes are also catching on fire due to engine/ engine repairs.
Knocking sound and engine blew with under 58,000 miles. Bought my car brand new just over 5 years ago.
The engine started knocking and pinging. Stalled in the middle of the street while i was driving and is now knocking really bad. 75k miles - running fin two days ago, have all of my oil changes up to date.
When driving the car shuts off with no warning anywhere. I have to put oil in the car almost each timei get gas. There is knocking in the engine when i turnthe car on. Car fails to start from time to time.
Kia forte is burning oil, bought car to mechanic to try and locate a leak, and fix what issue the car may be having. A few days after i bought the car to the mechanics which the gdi and pcv valve was changed and/or repaired. He noted that the spark plugs were fouled with oil, and that he could not tell where a leak was occuring or why the engine is burning so much oil. After the car was in the shop we received a letter in the mail stating that kia was having a recall on our vehicle. Recall number 20v750 - which pertained to the issue i am having with my vehicle, i then contacted kia and scheduled an appointment, which kia could not hold due to their servers being down, had to reschedule, rescheduled a second appointment, which was not held due to the servers being down still. Finally received a call a few days later that the servers were up and if i would like to schedule, in which did for monday march 1st 2021. When leaving the car at kia all star in denham springs, la the engine was tapping some but shallow, when i spoke to kia they stated that the recall my car was going in for was for the update on the knock sensor detection system, in which i was never sent the second letter as promised that the update was available in the recall letter of the original recall i am contacting you about. When i picked up my car it did not seem the same, or sound the same, and as a couple days went by the engine was sounding rougher and louder, checked my oil and had to add more oil to the car and the issue of missing oil is still happening. I called kia consumers and spoke to a jason to file a complaint and the displeased with the services that i did not receive and the lack of urgency in the recall issues pertaining to my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was oil leaking onto the catalytic converter. The contact stated while driving the vehicle failed to accelerate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to the local dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the engine and catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
At approximately 63,000 miles i began hearing a knock in the engine and noticed hesitancy as the engine shifted gears.about 4 days later the check engine light came on.i took the car to the dealership and was told there was sludge in the engine. The service rep at the dealership indicated that the would contact kia to determine if the engine repair would be covered under the warranty.yesterday i was told it may be an engine rod. It has been over a week without any resolution.i mentioned that kia had recalled kia optima for similar engine and was rudely advised that the forte and optima had different engines.
This is our 2nd 2014 kia forte ex with navigation everything top of the line... Well the first one had a knock in the motor so the dealership "exchanged" it and this one the seat takes about 5 min to lock into place after you adjust it and you have to be driving for it to lock in. There is a knock when you turn the wheels and the dealership says kia is working to fix it & try not to drive it as much as you can... The fuel tank keeps leaking and needing to be replaced but there working on that too i'm sure.... Haha after our car being in the shop for 36 days i finally was called by kia and offered a settlement until they can fix the issues... The settlement was not easy the girl who called me was extremely rude and everything i had looked up about the laws she didn't know she had to keep either "googling" it or she went to ask her boss & then would come back oh your i guess right... Kia was doing good for awhile but sadly i think they are very close to having the buy 2 get 1 free sale again...
While driving at highway speeds headlights flicker and sometimes shut off and then back on.failure appears immanent.
Kia forte ex 2014 esc light came on and my brake lights wont light up when stepping on the brake. The brake pedal feels stiff when braking to a stop. Checked all plugs and bulbs and they all are good, called dealer and was told it might be the brake light switch and will take me in on monday.
Head lights and inside dash light will flicker on and off while driving. If the headlight switch is left in the auto position while parked and the keys removed, the headlights will come on by them self sometime in the night and drain the battery. When trying to turn on the high beams, the dash board and headlights will flicker and go off. This has happened multiple times over the last year.
Passenger side window won't work and if you tap on the turn signal the lights flicker in the car.
While driving at night, my headlights would go completely out.once i switch them on again, they would go out once again.this would take place every couple of minutes and is very dangerous.i took my car into the dealership and was told that they knew exactly the issue because they repaired quite a few cars with the same issue.the total cost to repair this issue was $238.this is very dangerous and should be placed on the recall list.
Twice while driving in the country at night on a 2-lane fm road, the headlights went completely out when changing from low beam to high beam, and once, they went completely out when using the turn signal. They came back on in a few seconds each time but those few seconds were very dangerous.
I was in an accident and geico can communicate this. My vehicle has since been repaired due to the accident. In 2018 i tried to communicate with the manufacturer concerning the recall.
Headlights and interior lights flickering/going out while the car is in motion or stationary on city streets and highways. Sometimes they don't come back on unless i tinker with the headlight control switch. It is a major safety concern seeing as how i drive daily in the dark to work
The front headlight covers have long cracks in them. It has been sitting in front of my house?
The driver side taillights keep blowing out. Replaced the driver side 3 times in less than a year. They have bulb grease and are not melted. Then the same side brake lights go out. The driver side led headlight daytime running light is also out. Fuses have been checked.
Both driver and passenger seat belts fraying and rippingdrivers side seatbelt has opened 2x during vehicle operationtail lights faulty, sporadically turning on and off.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that when she switched the hi-beam lights on to drive at night at 60 mph the entire lighting system including the hi-beams would flicker on and off. The lighting system would also go on and off when the contact turns the steering wheel. The lights would stay off for about three to five seconds before coming back on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer prestige kia (3525 hwy 93, eau claire, wi 54701,(715) 833-0177) but they could not duplicate the issue. The manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The vehicle was unrepaired. The failure mileage was 57,700.
My brake lights stay on at all times while car is turned on
Vehicle in motion hit deer. Airbags did not deploy have had electrical problems at the time and continues being a hazard air bags never deployed. Smell of something but info turned out to be blower motor connector the blower motor malfunctions the seatbelts did not restrain
Steering: steering makes a loud knocking noise under the dashboard when turning the wheel left or right. Noise happens when vehicle is stationary or moving at any speed. Kia has recalled some 2014-2016 souls with the same problem but they have not recalled the forte.lighting: headlights and dashboard lights go out when turning on the turn signals.
2014 kia forte. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle and headlights not starting up. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle failed to start and theheadlights and interior lights would flicker. The dealers advised there were other vehicles with the same failure and that there was no resolution. The manufacturer stated the vehicle was operating a designed.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving approximately 50 mph, a burning odor was perceived without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, but the origin of the odor could not be determined. The vehicle was taken to billion auto kia (605-309-0977, located at 1400 cambell st, rapid city, sd 57701) where it was diagnosed that the blower motor connector needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The contact also stated that the headlights turned off at random and would remain illuminated after they were manually turned off. The same dealer stated that the interior switches were inoperable. The failures were not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Engine failed without any warning lights and had a strong burning odor, after researching gdi engine in this model and other kia models the problems were simular except for recall on the forte model
I replaced my catalycconverter in july, was informed there was an internal oil leak from the engine causing the catalyc to clog and car lose power. Replaced the whole thing over $2000. Now experiencing the same thing again. The vehicle loses power when accelerated. As well can smell the oil burning.
I have had two accidents ,the first timewhen i went to try and start my car up and it would not start up. Kia replace my fuel pump, believing that was the issue. The second they told me they could not diagnosis a problem so it was nothing that they could do.
The car will stall while driving down the road.suddenly. It hesitated and the check engine light keeps coming in despite going to several mechanics. What is wrong?!!!
Before exiting but during departure of parking lot for apartment building keeping brake pedal fully depressed with transmission geared in reverse the vehicle quickly and unexpectedly took off and sped out of control backwards until stopped by sudden impact with a tree resulting in numerous bodily injuries to traumatic mentally anguished driver and 2 passengers, 1 of which was seated in the backseat collision side resulting in total loss of vehicle according to drivers insurance policy provider state farm.claim number: 53-15k1-66d
Thank you !
I bought the car in november2 weeks later driving on december 10 all lights came out car loss power and engine blew off i was driving at around 55mph iā€™m still paying for the car but i never received no notice for the recall i need an answer asap the cae as been in my garage since december 10/2020

On thursday, august 28th, 2014 at around 7:45am, my 2014 kia forte stalled in the middle of the road as i was driving. It was a most terrifying experience as i was in the middle of the road, in the turning lane under an overpass. I had to wait over an hour for kia roadside assistance and therefore the police had to call in a separate tow company so that i would not continue to illegally block traffic.i was advised that the problem was due to the fuel pump causing the 15 amp fuse to blow.
I was changing the oil on my car and noticed that a hose below the car broke and was leaking some type of fluid. I noticed this about 30 minutes ago, but the issue could have been going on for much longer.
I was driving the motor just went out. I check the oil it was leaking out.
2014 kia forte 63000 milesshuts off at random speedsand when stoping or turning this is a extream safety issuesomethingneeds to be done about this dealer cant figure it out and wont work on it anymoreits has been to the dealer about this issue 4 times a week with no help
I was driving on the highway and the car caught on fire as i was driving.
It started with a ticking noise coming from my engine like it needed an oil change but it had just had one. I took it to a kia dealership to have it looked at and was told it was the engine. They said that the rod bearings were wearing down and resulting in metal contamination in the engine. They said i needed my engine replaced immediately or risk it locking up while driving. After research i found other models from the same year and the same type of engine have been recalled do to the same issue. I have attached the invoice for the replacement engine.

Car consuming oil within short timeframe. No leaks and have to add a quart every few days. Car is now completely undriveable, car stopped accelerating about 2 months ago and no codes are flashing and no check engine light. Car hesitates to accelerate and is very noisy. Replaced spark plugs and coil pack and problem persists, this car is now unsafe to drive because it will not accelerate and consumes unhealthy amounts of oil.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While reversing out of a driveway with a steep incline, the vehicle failed to stop. The steering seized and the contact was unable to stop or turn the vehicle. As a result, another vehicle crashed into the contact's vehicle. The contact sustained head injuries that required medical attention. The contact was unaware if a police report was filed. The contact stated that the failure occurred before when the traction control light illuminated on the instrument panel or when the vehicle drove through water. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a body shop. The failure mileage was 20,500.
The car has a design flaw that allows rain to soak the seats, seat belts, and entire truck creating black mold in the spare tire compartment, mold in side the car on the seats and seat belts. The car does not have to be moving in order for the rain to enter the car. I have had my car detailed multiple times along with cleaning the mold out of the car myself. Since owning the car since 2014 i have stayed sick and i only found out last month how my seats were getting soaked. The entire backseat and trunk need to be replaced from the mold and rust from the leak.attached are photos of the back seat after a rain.
On feb 14th, 2015 i was driving on a main road, there was a snow blizzard, it was just starting, i was trying to stop on an intersection my speed was less then 10mph, there was a truck in front of me,my car slipped hitting the hook on the truck. There is a small hole on bumper that small impact activated the airbags. My left wrist was broken. Ulna and radius fracture pretty bad. I was taken on ambulance to the hospital and got surgery 2 weeks after. It's taking me 6 weeks out of work and 3 months to recover. I believe the airbag at that speed shouldn't come out. The front window was broken because of passenger sit airbag and seatbelt on front sits have to be replace.
Takata recall: on the driver side of my car the seat belt will not lock and secure for the driveracross the lap and chest. The buckle works fine. The seat belt is not securing to ensure driver won't be thrown from vehicle in case of an accident. This does not stay secure when in motion or if the car is parked. No lights appear on dash but feel it is still a safety issue with continued driving.
The seat belt light will come on and stay on even if nobody is in the seat. It will shut off randomly and will come back on a few minutes later. The light looks like somebody sitting in the seat with a buckle on.
Both driver and passenger seat belts fraying and rippingdrivers side seatbelt has opened 2x during vehicle operationtail lights faulty, sporadically turning on and off.
Seat air bag detection is on, went off then came back on
The driver side seat track breaks after 66,000 miles or nine months making the seat shift wildly while driving. The dealer has no seat tracks in stock and no eta for back order. The seat lets do no unclasp unless jerked in several times after the release button is pressed.

Water is leaking into my car when it rains. What i have inspected, it is the weather strip. Water it going into the frame under my trunk lining and under my back seats. Mold has grown in my trunk.
The contact owned a 2014 kia forte. While the contact's vehicle was stopped, another vehicle rear ended the contact's vehicle at an unknown speed. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the back of the front driver's seat collapsed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The contact's vehicle was totaled and was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Vehicle was involved in a random shooting causing the vehicle to have driver side door panel, window, seat, and side view mirror song with driver side back seat windows. Also public service announcement of recall for 2014 kia forte heating, air systems under the hood car does not blow out of all vents.
Takata recall
The problems with the brakes happen when the car is in motion and on both sides of the vehicle.the rear caliper guide pins were frozen by corrosion, preventing the cylinder to extend and engage the brake pads on the rotor. This resulted in the lose of any rear braking action. When the anti-lock braking would engage due to lost road contact, (ie. Icy or bumpy/rough roads) there was no braking action at all.during normal driving, the rear brakes being frozen, the car relies solely on the front calipers to stop the car.no accidents happened during this time.i decided to replace the rear pads and noticed when i removed the wheel i found the rear rotor was rusted and pitted due to no contact with the pads. When i removed the caliper assembly the pins were frozen in place and could not be be freed. This required that the whole assembly needed to be replaced.the car was four years old with about 85,000 miles when i replaced the rotors, pads and caliper assemblies. The condition was probably happening for about 9 months before i decided to replace the pads.
When at highway speeds i pressed the brake pedal and the car violently shook. The dealership decided to resurface my brand new rotors, only 700 miles on the car, rather than replace. I am scared to drive the car now.
I was in an accident and geico can communicate this. My vehicle has since been repaired due to the accident. In 2018 i tried to communicate with the manufacturer concerning the recall.
Kia forte ex 2014 esc light came on and my brake lights wont light up when stepping on the brake. The brake pedal feels stiff when braking to a stop. Checked all plugs and bulbs and they all are good, called dealer and was told it might be the brake light switch and will take me in on monday.
Good day,i own a 2014 kia forte ex . This vehicle was purchased from galeana chrysler jeep kia dealership located at (180 greystone blvd. Columbia, sc 29210).the reason for this letter is to receive assistance regarding the kia fire recall article that did not include the forte model within the years specified. Upon vehicle inspection from jt's kia dealership (the abs system has a leakage on the fire wall side. Found the hecu/ brake module has started to fail and is leaking.)proof of information will be in attachments.this 2014 kia forte ex is having the same issue and should be included in the recall.during this time we hope you take consideration in looking into this issue. This is very dangerous and risky for my family and i. Please feel free to reach out if you have concerns or questions.
My car shakes when you hit the brakes//doesnt drive smooth at all. Somehow the oil leaks through the rings in the engine and i cannot keep oil in it. I refill the whole oil container at least once a month now and put oil stabilizer in it. If i get an oil change, it is empty the next week.
While traveling at approx. 30 mph and approaching an intersection with a red traffic signal, i applied the brakes and they did not slow the vehicle at all.i stood on the brakes and they remained firm and did not go down.i repeated this 4 different times and nothing happened. I put the transmission into park and the car continued moving. I was going through the red light and fortunately the on coming traffic as able to avoid me.after crossing the intersection i ran it into a grassy gravel area where it finally stopped.
Recall number 17v773 has been performed on my vehicle but the problems still persist.
Tire pressure light constantly goes on and off,car continually gets stuck in park and while driving dash doesn't show gears. Brought to deal provided pictures as proof and was told they could not duplicate problem. Asked for paperwork and they said they would mail it never received paperwork.
While i was driving on the highway, i had to break due to another driver's dangerous driving. I had to push the pedal all the way down before the vehicle would break as if the breaks weren't even there. This vehicle was purchased from galeana chrysler jeep kia dealership located at (180 greystone blvd. Columbia, sc 29210).the reason for this urgent notification is to receive assistance regarding the kia fire recall article that did not include the forte model within the years specified. Upon vehicle inspection from jt's kia dealership (the abs system has a leakage on the fire wall side. Found the hecu/ brake module has started to fail and is leaking.)
My brake lights stay on at all times while car is turned on
On two occasions i have smelled gas when starting the vehicle.the date above is the second time.the first was after the car had been parked for 3-4 days after a snow storm in late 2013.the brakes vibrate when stopping on a rough surface.kia consumer affairs attributes this to the design of the anti-lock system and apparently does not consider it a problem.on one occasion - again during a period of cold weather in late 2013 - the gears ground when turning at maximum rotation to parallel park the car in a tight spot, a common occurrence in the urban area where i live.unlike the braking and gas-leak problem, this only happened once.due to an issue with possible odometer tampering i have not taken the car to a dealer to address the other problems for fear they will try to mask evidence other than the scratch on the driver door.
I was in a three vehicle accident as the third car. I hit the car in front of me and in turn caused that vehicle to hit the vehicle in front of him. I had the brakes pressed down all the way to the floor and still couldn't stop in time to prevent impact, there were not even any skid marks on the pavement. The impact was so strong that my back seats folded down and the things i had in my trunk flew forward and hit the back of the driver seat. I had glass bottles of drinks in the trunk and they were all busted in the floorboard from being thrown through the back seat that folded down. Fire and rescue had to open my door to let me out of the vehicle because i tried to get out and couldn't pry the door open. To me that is a hard impact, i was injured and still seeking medical attention. My concern is with a frontal impact of such force, none of my airbags deployed! my accident has already happened and i am hurt but i don't want that to happen to anyone else. Luckily i was wearing my safety belt because my airbags certainly didn't protect me.i made a complaint with kia and there representative told me..."ma'am with your vehicle, you have "smart airbags" they only deploy in a catastrophic event." how can the car tell what is a catastrophic event...my 8 year old could have been in that back seat that folded or even my newborn niece that i care for, that could have been not only catastrophic but fatal!!! what can be done about this? please help, i don't want someone else to suffer.
As i turn my steering wheel, it makes a clicking noise. It also causes my airbag light to show on my speedometer. Something sounds loose when in the steering wheel when i drive.
My vehicles steering coupling pings and sounds like it's come loose or broken. Same issue happened to another kia in the family a 2012 kia soul my brother in law owns. That kia had a recall for the steering coupling, the 2014 kia forte does'nt have this for a recall yet by kia. I contacted kia complaint #13202206 for resolution but no resolution rec'd to date 12/13/2019.
We are a driving school with about 100 different cars from kia, we have about 95 vehicles right now in use that are forte models between the years of 2010-2017. This is now the second vehicle this has happened to of ours over the past year. The last time was the kia forte 2015, and now this time it is the kia forte 2014. The steering wheel becomes misaligned with the wheels and eventually the entire assembly of where the steering wheel column is falls down completely into your lap and you lose all control of the vehicle. We took the 2015 vehicle to the mechanic and they were able to fix it, now the same thing happened again with the 2014. The specific part which failed is called the "reinforced beam"- kia. It is the bar assembly which connects the steering wheel column. The metal from the beam which secures the steering column tears, and causes the steering column to become unsecured and it falls, leaving no control over the vehicle whether it is in motion or at a standstill. Also, it blocks the brake while driving. The previous 2015 forte luckily fell apart in a parking lot while an instructor was teaching parking and had to be towed to the mechanic. This week the 2014 driver (one of our instructors) was driving on the highway with a student when she started noticing the disconnect. Since it sounded familiar we took it straight to the mechanic and they were able to diagnose the same failed part again. This is an extreme safety hazard. Retail it is about $2,000 to fix. It's about $500 for the part, and $1,500 for the labor. Thank you.
Play in steering wheel ,when looking it up ,problem seems common for the steering coupler to go out, causes a jerk in the wheel at times while driving. Sitting still it will have alot of play moving left and right and a noise. A extended warranty has been givenfor some models except mine.
The steering wheel mechanism will make a knocking noise that is felt more than heard. It seems to be getting worse, and is more noticeable when turning the wheel while stopped as opposed to turning while in motion. Research has shown that this is a very common problem among several models of kia, especially in the southeast. I took it to a dealer today to have checked and was told it was the flex coupler. The receptionist told me they get a lot of these all the time and that they can become very dangerous if not fixed soon. My research also revealed that some models have been afforded extended warranties and free replacement, but others have not even though the problem, symptom, and solution are the same. Btw, the repair bill was over $400...about $2 for part and the rest was labor, tax and misc.
2014 kia forte 1.8l steering is very hard or stiff to rotate especially from right to left when driving at more than 20 mph rendering lane change on roads and expressways very dangerous, and simply maneuvering steering very difficult. It feels like steering is jamming or being stuck. Besides hear a click sound from the steering even when car is stationary. Started experiencing hard steering problem at the end of june 2021.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving 45 mph, the steering wheel made an abnormal knocking noise while turning left and right. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called the local dealer (orlando kia east, 8701 east colonial drive, orlando, fl 32817, (407) 678-1717) and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 76,908.
When turning sharply like pulling into a parking space the steering wheel locks up for a few seconds
The steering coupler went bad. Started hearing loud clicking noise when driving called kia they are aware of the issue but only warranty is on optimal and souls as of now for it. The piece cost $1.08 the labor is $350 was what i was quoted . Also told they replace tons of them a week . Ridiculous kia make it across the board. The coupler is an important piece.
My 2014 kia forte has started making a clicking/popping noise when i am turning right or left. It sounds like the steering wheel is gonna come off of the steering column where it locks, and i am afraid it is gonna lock up on me driving down the road. It clicks/pops whether the vehicle is stationary or if you are driving, and is getting worse.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving and making a left turn, the steering wheel made a knocking noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering motor needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired and was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
The airbag light stays on. I've checked and there are no error codes. Controls on the steering wheel also do not work and are unresponsive. The cruise control settings are unreliable and can lead to potential safety problems. After some research it appears to be a defective clock spring. Kia should cover the replacement under warranty.
Air bag light flashes on and off for few weeks finally resting to steady on. There is no crash case at all.steering wheel makes knocking sound when rotated while the car is not moving.
There is a noticeable noise each time when turning the steering wheel both at rest and in motion. The vehicle and steering wheel has excessive vibration when braking. There is also excessive play in the steering wheel. The suspected problem is a failure of the flexible coupling in the steering column. Kia has addressed this issue in other model cars such as the optima of the same model year but not for the forte.
The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine vibrated abnormally.
Steering coupler needed to be replaced. There have been warranty extensions for this part on several hyundai cars as well as kia optima. Same issue as i experienced. No recall yet on my vehicle. Had to pay $500 to get replaced
Drove over train tracks at 15 mph and felt it break. At stop, steering wheel has play when turned lightly. Knocks loudly when going over bumps and turning. Part can cause steering to lock up at any moment while turning and very unsafe. $13 part, $200 labor
Trunk's push-button rubber covering crumbled off over the course of a year and the trunk hasn't opened since. There is no other way to open my trunk. I am unable to change my tire or get my tire repair kit in the event of a flat because all of the materials are in the compartment under the trunk's covering.

Rain water is entering trunk/spare tire compartment area. Causing puddling and rear seat water damage.
Blowout front passenger side.
The front bumper is falling down. I bought the car in september and its had a blow out on the right back tire, and the bumper is falling down. Kia said the clips on both sides were breaking. They don't want to fix it under warranty!!!! they said it had to be my fault. How can that be??? there is no way i did anything to make the clips fall off!!! its $1,000 to have it fixed. I have had a lot of problems with this car in just under a year old.
Vehicle was involved in a random shooting causing the vehicle to have driver side door panel, window, seat, and side view mirror song with driver side back seat windows. Also public service announcement of recall for 2014 kia forte heating, air systems under the hood car does not blow out of all vents.
Scratches under the driver side door on car purchased as new may indicate prior use and odometer tamper.
2014 kia forte koup sx, brand new. The side windows are frameless on the koup, and must drop 1/4 of an inch to open the door, and raise back up to close and form a tight seal against the door sill. When windows have frost or ice on them they will not drop the required 1/4 of an inch for the door to open or close. Only after the car warms will the windows lower and raise properly.
Blowout rear passenger side.

The contact owns a 2014 kia forte. The contact stated that the sun roof leaked water into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the sun roof assembly was replaced but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18 and the current mileage was 3,763.
I have been driving my 2014 kia forte ex for almost 2 years now. Leased it brand new the day it landed on the lot. I only drive it to work and back as we have a 2014 kia sorento we do all our family traveling in. I took the forte to the dealership today as i was having issues with the bluetooth, the check engine light was on and there was a hollow tumbling sound coming from the rear of the car. Upon inspection the service associate informed me that the tires were tore up. I explained to them that the car only had 33500 miles on it and i had brought it in at 6000 miles to have the alignment fixed because it was off then as well. The mechanic checked the alignment today and told us the rear axle is not right, looks like it came off the assembly line that way. As this time kia doesn't know what they can do for me, but the car is still brand new, they need to make it right!

Three of the four oem tires that came on my vehicle have needed replacement due to damaged sidewalls. The oem tires are 16 inch nexen cp671 205/55r16 tires, and my vehicle currently has less than 23,000 miles on it.the first tire (front passenger) developed a weak external sidewall on or about 12/31/13, with 7,000 miles on the vehicle. I replaced this with a nexen cp671 205/55r16 oem tire. The second tire (rear driver side) developed a weak internal sidewall on or about august 15th, 2014, with 14,500 miles on the vehicle. I replaced this with a nexen cp671 205/55r16 oem tire. The third tire (rear passenger side) developed a weak external sidewall on or about february 25th, 2015, with 22,200 miles on the vehicle. This time, i replaced all four tires with a different brand.

My car shakes when you hit the brakes//doesnt drive smooth at all. Somehow the oil leaks through the rings in the engine and i cannot keep oil in it. I refill the whole oil container at least once a month now and put oil stabilizer in it. If i get an oil change, it is empty the next week.
The vehicle was in motion driving straight on the interstate 5 southbound. The vehicle was brought to a stop immediately on the side of the interstate before exit 205. The vehicle's oil pan was punctured, and the engine oil was drained out. The engine had suffered critical damage. The vehicle was then towed to a kia dealership in glendale, ca. Repair costs were quoted to be $7,332.63. Kia deemed the repairs non-warrantable due to the damage being external. Goodwill assistance was offered by kia at a price of $4532.66. However, i feel that this should be completely covered under the warranty.the complaint is against the structural integrity of the oil pan and the engine which became critically damaged from such a minimal impact.the complaint is also against the warning system of the car which failed to notify the engine oil leaking at such a high rate in a timely manner before the vehicle suffered critical damage and put the passengers at risk.
I was taking my boyfriend to work when i noticed a smell when he got out of the car the smell got worst i went to go get my boyfriend and when we got back to the car it was smoking. I hurried and grabbed the kids out if the car next thing we know the front if the car under the hood caught on fire. It was almost a brand new car it had only 60,000 miles on it. No warning lights nothingthe fire was so big like something out if a movie. Kia isn't explaining why my car would just catch fire out of the blue. It was running parked on a business parking lot
I purchased this kia new. Within one week i notice there were bubbles on the side wall of 2 of the 4, nexen classic premere tires that came with the car. I returned to the dealer who told me that happens when you hit potholes. The car had barely been driven. The dealer would do nothing. Additionally, this car is issued to the public without a spare tire of any kind. And no jack. There is a compression pump and some tire fix it to temp patch a leak. I told the dealer what if the sidewall blows out. Call road assistance.well, the sidewall blew out. My daughter had driven to a friend's house. Parked the car and came out to find the sidewall bubble had ruptured. She could not locate the phone number to call. I called the dealer and got the number but the wait would be at least an hour. I handled the situation. My biggest complaint is that this is not safe. The car does not even have a jack in it! the sidewall shredded. I put a goodyear in its place. How the automotive community can let this type of product out on the street - this unsafe product - is beyond any reason.and as i have stated, i pointed this out to the dealer within a few days of taking receipt of this brand new car. I have another tire with a bubble and they don't care. The dealer quoted me a price of $380 to have a spare tire and jack kit for my car. What an embarrassment for the oem and the car community. I deal directly with oems. I intend to litigate this issue.
Hi. The problem that i am having is that a buy a car that was imported from florida to puerto rico. I verified the vin number and i see that it need to have 2 recall fix. I go to the local kia dealer and they say that because it was used imported vehicle they cant perform the recall. I want to know if it is any way that kia can authorize or if they are obligated to fix the vehicle.
The vehicle caught on fire. The fire began in the engine compartment while driving on the interstate going approximately 70 mph. Smoke was noticed first and the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road at which time the vehicle was exited and flames began consuming the vehicle.
I was leased this car without a spare tire and without a tire inflator.
My antenna shark fin fell off my car while driving. Luckily it did not hit a vehicle behind me; however, this could have caused significant damage to someone else had it hit them or their windshield. This is unacceptable.
Windshield on 2010 2014 kia forte seems to be extremely weak. I have had to replace windshield twice on the 2010 forte due to small rock hitting windshield and have to replace 2014 kia forte windshield due to same problem with the windshield. In comparison my 2003 corolla has endured the same driving conditions for much longer with no problems with the windshield.
Air bag light is on. Horn only work occasionally and cruise does not work.
2014 kia forte 63000 milesshuts off at random speedsand when stoping or turning this is a extream safety issuesomethingneeds to be done about this dealer cant figure it out and wont work on it anymoreits has been to the dealer about this issue 4 times a week with no help
My wife was driving to work on the expressway and suddenly heard a loud "pop" and the sunroof glass shattered for no apparent reason.thankfully, she had the visor closed underneath it so that the glass did not fall on her. It did do damage to the trunk and other areas in the rear of the car as the glass blew off the car. When i (husband) went to kia and told the service person what happened he said it was "impossible" for glass just to shatter without being struck. After listening to news reports through youtube i do not believe the service person. From what i am hearing from the media....the glass on top is being made thinner because of weight concerns. Also, my body shop advisor told me that the design of our kia is sloped and the glass is more exposed rather than being on a "flat" roof design vehicle of say an older ford explorer type vehicle. If the glass on certain designed vehicles is more exposed by sloping forward then all the more reason to have a glass that won't shatter or that is thicker. If the sloped design makes the glass more exposed....then it may also be that it only takes a very small rock being thrown by a vehicle in front to shatter a thinner glass on a sloped design vehicle...and a rock size that a driver would not notice. There was a truck in front of my wife but she did not notice any rock hitting her car.
Water is leaking into my car when it rains. What i have inspected, it is the weather strip. Water it going into the frame under my trunk lining and under my back seats. Mold has grown in my trunk.
The kia was moving into the city intersection at a slow rate of speed when a chevy blazer traveling at approximately 60+ mph hit the kia, without breaking and ripped the whole front end off. None of the airbags deployed. This resulted in injuries.*dt
I was driving down the street and thought i saw fire coming from under my hood.a few seconds later, there was massive smoke coming from my hood, so bad that i had to pull to the side of the road.i jumped out of the car and my car caught on fire.my car is totaled.
I was changing the oil on my car and noticed that a hose below the car broke and was leaking some type of fluid. I noticed this about 30 minutes ago, but the issue could have been going on for much longer.
Takara recall i would smell something burning under the hood and then my ac stopped blowing air/heat from the two center vents.
I was pulling away from a red light when i heard what sounded like a gunshot right next to me. I looked around, saw nothing. There was no traffic near me and no bridges or overpasses anywhere near. I then heard something that sounded like rocks on the roof of my car. I pulled into a parking lot and got out to look. My sunroof had exploded. It exploded outward, the opposite of what i would expect from it being hit from above (and there was absolutely nothing that could have hit me in that particular location). I drove to kia and told them what happened. They replaced the sunroof, but told me that they could not explain what happened and that even with a team of engineers it would have been hard to tell what caused the spontaneous explosion. I called the kia 800 number and reported the incident. This was a brand new car, i had bought it 3 months earlier and it only had 5,000 miles on it.
I need to know about where the emission leak is in my car.i have one and i don't know if it is a recall or where it is at or how much it will cost the repair may cost.i have 93 thousand miles away n it, and i have already had the gas cap change 2 weeks ago on my vehicle.please help me with this,so i won't be taking advantage of.thank you.
Tire pressure light constantly goes on and off,car continually gets stuck in park and while driving dash doesn't show gears. Brought to deal provided pictures as proof and was told they could not duplicate problem. Asked for paperwork and they said they would mail it never received paperwork.
Vehicle attempts to accelerate when stopping or stopped & foot on brake pedal. Turning the a/c on slightly made intensified the acceleration.
Air bag light is on. Horn only work occasionally and cruise does not work.
Thank you !
Our kia forte will not defog the windows on the inside until it is above 0 weather or the sun is shining brightly.i have to open the windows on the sides to back out or pull out into traffic so i can see and when it is 30 below it isn't fun.the window is clear when i pull it out of the garage in the morning but as soon as i go down the road it starts to fog up and freeze on the inside.i can't see out of my passenger side mirror either.the windshield will clear off if i have it on full defrost with the ac button pressed except for a big area halfway up to the top on the drivers side only.that doesn't clear either.i can drive many miles and nothing changes till the temp outside goes up.they tell me that is the way it is that they can't fix it and they said it worked for them so that is it.if you have it on full defrost at 30 below, you freeze your toes and fingers.some thing should be done before someone gets in an accident.i love the car otherwise.
2014 kia forte. Consumer writes in regards to defective rear view mirror. *ld
Blowout front passenger side.
My tires are in good shape but i keep getting notifications indicating i have low tires pressure. I got it checked out and the tires have the proper amount of air. Even after getting the sensors reset, i still get this notification. Now the tpms stays on whether i'm traveling or just stationary.
While driving the vehicle i inadvertently hit a pothole. It was the coldest night of the year, -20 degrees. Hitting the pothole knocked the bead of my tire off the rim. I went into the trunk to get the spare tire out, and to my surprise. There was no spare tire!!!! there was a "tire mobility kit". I attempted to use this, but it was to absolutely no avail. I called the roadside assistance number, after walking about 1/2 mile to get cell phone service (still -20 outside), i found out that the estimated time for roadside assistance was at least 90 minutes. I decided to instead call my mom, who was 45 minutes away, so she could bring her car, and i could use her spare tire. I was able to change the tire in 10 minutes and get back on the road with my mom's spare. I called the dealership the next morning, and they told me that my car does not come standard with a spare tire. I would have to purchase a spare tire if i wanted one!!! this is completely unacceptable and dangerous! what if my car had run out of gas in the -20 weather while waiting? if my mom could not have come, i would have been waiting at least 90 minutes! instead of the 10 it takes to put a spare tire on. That is completely unacceptable and is a safety issue. I have notified kia, and i want a spare tire with my car at no cost. This is a safety issue. Other than that, i absolutely love the car...
Vehicle lacks a spare tire, and it was not disclosed at time of purchase, nor does it state this fact in any of its published sales literature or web site publications.kia customer service was contacted (800-333-4542. Lonnie, ext. 45804, [xxx]) on numerous occasions and claimed there was not any need for a spare.customer service indicated that a 'donut spare', as provided on their other vehicles, is not available, yet, and has no delivery date scheduled.their mobility kit (tire inflation) will not work on tire cuts and blow outs.the kit usefulness date is one year.the kit is dangerous to operate, especially if one is a senior and disabled. In addition, use of the kit will ruin the tire pressure monitor installed in the tire and void the entire warranty. Kia provides and delivers a full spare tire, rim and tool kit in other markets, namely australia and new zealand, at not extra cost.a full spare tire, equal to the oem provided wheels on the delivered vehicle should be provided as a safety measure and make the vehicle fully functional.
Blowout rear passenger side.
Blowout front passenger side.
Tire blowout front driverside.
Vehicle was involved in a random shooting causing the vehicle to have driver side door panel, window, seat, and side view mirror song with driver side back seat windows. Also public service announcement of recall for 2014 kia forte heating, air systems under the hood car does not blow out of all vents.
