The steering wheel clicks really bad. My steering wheel components are no longer working. The airbag light has also come on with these issues.

My daughter was stopped in traffic and was hit from behind causing her to hit the truck in front. The car was totaled and no airbags deployed.............

We were driving our 2012 kia forte ex (sedan) which we had purchased brand new in december 2011 to the store to get bread and were on our way home (only about 2 minutes into the drive) when we saw smoke coming from the front of the car. We pulled over within about 50 feet of seeing it, put it in park- which by the time we did so, we lost all power and couldn't even get the key out of the ignition. We got out and my boyfriend tried to pop the hood but it was already so hot he couldn't do it... I ran about 20 feet away for safety reasons, so i am not sure where it started, but within about 30 seconds, the flames came out of the sides and front of the hood. My boyfriend thinks it was about where the fuse box is, because that is where he noticed the paint start to bubble off. He is a mechanic and has never seen anything like it. The entire front of the car, through the dash is disintegrated. My airbags melted and poured out of the dash and roof, upholstery melted off the seats, and door panels bubbled up. All the speakers blew and melted.it happened so quickly, if i had kids in the back or couldn't have pulled over in time, there could have been very serious injuries or deaths. I am very thankful it didn't happen on my way to work, as i drive in traffic on a highway with no shoulder.i had no electronic modifications. It was entirely stock, with the exception of window tint, exhaust, a lowering kit, and aftermarket tires and wheels--all which were installed by professionals. The car had 8900 miles on it and all maintenance work had been done. Even 3 oil changes- even though kia claims the car can go 7k without one.my insurance company is going to treat it as a total loss and do an investigation on it. Kia has a case going but have not yet sent an engineer out.

Was hit from behind by another car at a speed that should have cause the airbags to deploy but none did. The accident happened on 12/26/19. I was headed southbound on minnesota ave in sioux falls, sd. I slowed down to turn east when a car hit me from behind. The impact caused my car to spin 270*. Shattered the rear driver window. Bent frame. But no airbags deployed

I was injured in a crash that happened saturday at 232pm . My airbags did not deploy at 45 mph. Old women did a u turn into me. I was in left lane . I crash driver side front into her passenger doors. My steering is damaged and my side fender was hooked inward along with my side mirror being hit i thought my airbags recall issue was solved. Im in back and neck pain i went to hospital after and had xrays were the doctors where astonished by my non deployment when i told them the speed and showed photos

It says on here there is an active recall i just purchased the car today

March of 2020 we bagan noticing a knocking noise coming from the motor upon cold starts which increases as the idle speed increases. Also makes the same knocking noise while engine is at running temperature. Upon further investigation it has been determined to be a connector rod or connector rod bearing issue. This is a known defect of the theta ii motor. Also around the same time the vehicle had the same problem as recall sc158 brake pedal stopper pad. We were informed that it was not a safety issue and had to pay out of pocket for the repair expense. The vehicle came out of park with engine off and keys not in ignition, almost causing collision when car rolled into street. Again, kia stated that was not a safety issue. *ln

The fuel was consumed quickly than normal. I had brakes remaing engaged when foot not pressing pedal and could feel contact to road. Engine has failed car was moving.

Fatal mva involving front-end collision. Air bag failed to deploy. Seat belt failed to restrain driver.

I was making a left turn into a parking spot at a corner store parking lot. As i was turning the accelerater dropped to the floor. I pushed the brake all the way and it still pulled forward. I impacted the front left corner of the store causing damage to the wall of the store. Also damage to the front of the car headlights, fender, tire well lining and more. No warning lightscame on orairbags deployed. Ijust received a letter today in the mail about recall issues. Kia has not warned me of anything and i take my car to thekia dealership. I was not notified i'm trying get help with this. I'm looking for lawyer now because i just got this information. After owning this car since 2012. I'm working on the claim now so the full report is not done.

I have not been notified by kia of the recall. I wasn't aware of the recall until i researched my vin number for information for my insurance company. I was involved in an accident may 11th 2019 with a front side impact and my air bags did not deploy. I my vehicle has been deemed totaled. I suffered mild whiplash and concusion. I was turning left to go down an isle in a parking lot when i was struck by a chevrolet silverado. I went to hospital may 13th when condition didn't improve

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags) by value kia (6915 essington ave, philadelphia, pa 19153, 215-937-1000). The contact stated that the remedy was inadequate because the air bag indicator continued to illuminate. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,480.

I was hit in the rear, end by an suv, then slammed into the car in front of me,and sent back again and slammed the car that initially hit me. My air bags did notdeploy. Was seriously injured in crash with long term effects.

I have contacted the kia dealership in tallahassee, florida 3 times with no success at a service request for a recall. Twice was by phone where i talked to multiple people about scheduling an appointment for the recall on my car. Both times i left my name, number, and my vin. The phone calls were 3 days apart. I then contacted them a third time using their online service request. It stated that someone would contact me within 48 hours but it has been at least 5 days.

This is a correction to a complaint filed last week.i checked no on the fatalities question.the kia was in a serious fatal frontal impact but the airbags did not deploy.kia tested the airbag control module and it had no fault codes and did not record any crash data.kia has the module now.the other cars airbags worked and the drunk driver survived...updated 10/15/15 ...updated 12/29/15the data showed that there were no stored or diagnostic fault codes. 2012 kia forte. Consumer writes in regards to airbag safety recall. *ld

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags), which indicated that the part was unavailable. When the vehicle was started, the air bag indicator illuminated and remained lit. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called orlando kia north at (888) 696-5097 (located at 625 n us hwy 17 92, longwood, fl 32750) and was informed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I was involved in an accident where i was rear ended and then smashed into the vehicle in front of me. The air bags did not inflate and the seat belt did not lock in place. I was traveling on a highway. My vehicle was in motion at the time of the accident. There is an active recall on the kia and it was part of the recall.

Airbag light came on right after hitting 108k miles. Car has not been in amy accident. No airbags have ever deployed. The light just came on and will not go off.also car makes humming sound while idling with the foot off the gas. Bought car brand new and i'm being informed that other models that are having this issue are being recalled.

I purchased the kia from a car dealership with fake carfax. I was told that it's a excellent condition and working vehicle no problems or recalls. I got a car loan on it and a week later i received a recall letter and. Kia never repaired it i told the bank and car lot and they demand more money from and i should them that they were informed about this before i bought it and they repo my car and still left me on the dmv records stating i have the car and forcing me to pay the loan and is triple my payments

My airbag light is on took it to dealership when the airbag recall came out to have it check and got it back with airbag light on. And when it rains water gets in the trunk and also my passenger and driver side floor board gets soaked it has begun to show signs of mold this really concerns me due to the fact i have health issues and having to drive a car with mold growing in it is a huge issue

On 12/20/16, my oldest daughter was following my youngest daughter to have breakfast.my oldest daughter drives a 2012 kia forte. My youngest daughter was at a red light with my kia-driving daughter directly behind.the light turned green, and for some reason the youngest did not go.my oldest took her foot off the brake and "tapped" the car in front of her.the kia's drive side air bag partially deployed injuring my daughter's hand slightly.she immediately drove it home (with inoperable seat belts due to deployment) and called me.we called the dealership, and they referred us to a body shop where we were given an estimate of ~$2,000 for repair.i inspected both vehicles and could not see any evidence of damage (not even a paint smudge). This was very upsetting as i am now concerned with spurious air bag deployments with this vehicle.kia claimed that both impact and deceleration are required to deploy the air bag,my question is why did it only partially deploy ?this incident was very similar to parking a car and touching the vehicle in front of it.see photos for deployment, and no damage to front of vehicle.

The car was involved in a serious frontal impact and the front seat airbags did not go off.the passenger was killed and the driver was seriously injured.kia was informed and the airbag control module was tested and found to be not working.

When had my accident in on going traffic my air bags did not deploy,my brakes system went out, also my horn doesn't work, and my cv axle messes up and can't find another cv axle.

My airbag light is on in the car.i took my car in to the dealer for on january 10 2019 for a recall 18v363 which they completed.on saturday feb 2, i was running errands.when i left one of the stores, the airbag light came on in my car and stay illuminated.it has been on and off (mostly on) intermittedly since then.the light never came on before the recall repair.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

2012 kia forte ex 2.0 i4 126k miles daughter driving car to college, inside of vehicle filled with smoke, car engine stalled while on hwy 430 in the middle of a construction zone. Barely made it to the shoulder of the road. I was close buy, i went and loaded up the car and took it home. Once home, i turned the ignition to on, to check for warning lights, none present! i looked under the car and could see oil! i looked all over the engine and discovered oil was coming from oil dipstick tube. I pulled the dipstick the rest of the way out and could see extreme metallic particles in oil. I drained what oil was left and the oil pan was full of fine metallic debris. I went ahead and changed the oil and started the car and the engine has an extreme knock, due to a common kiafailure. Faulty rod main bearings. Contacted kia and they told me to kick rocks. Thereā€™re corporate managers stated, ā€œ i could care less if you ever bought a kia and i could care less that the rod bearing failure is premature or a design flaw. We will not honor nor fix it.ā€¯ this engine is in multiple kia brands, they have recalled and replaced thousands of them. Since this engine is in a forte, they stated my vin wasnā€™t in the selected range of defective engines. Even though, other models with the same engines are! kia needs to stand behind and fix their faulty engines. My forte never had a ā€œcheck engine ā€œ light come on. The knock sensor never sent the car into limp modeand the vehicles pcm never acknowledged an issue to alert the driver of an impending disaster. Not only is my engine defective by kia, they tampered with the vehicles software to where the knock sensor would never sense an impending problem, until the engine exploded in the consumer's face. Otherwise, the knock sensor would have alerted to an impending problem! not one check engine light, not one ever came on! a computer scan also showed no stored codes, no active fault codes and no pending fault codes.

I was pulled over by transit police and was informed that my brake lights were not working. I took it to the dealership and they want to charge me to have them look at it. If the problem falls to the warranty they will do it, but i still have to pay for the check-up. My tail lights work, but my brake lights do not illuminate when i press on the brake. Is there a recall?

The brake light on the car goes out often since i bought it, more commonly the right side. I have repeatedly checked and replaced fuses and bulbs. Sometimes the light won't last a month before someone tells me my brake light is not working. This is a hazard. I have not found any issues with the wires or fuses, but through research found earlier models of the kia forte had a recall for the same issue. The problem being the brake light switch by the pedal. Kia needs to find a fix for this and do a proper recall.

Center mount stop light assembly - the brake light burned out and burned the assembly.i smelled something burning from my vehicle and when i checked the vehicle found this light had burned through the assembly.this burning of the center assembly shorted out my brake lights which left me without brakes.the mechanic stated that looking at the center assembly as well as the other brake light ports-there was a surge of some sort which caused this to happen.the areas in the brake light sockets were black.i was driving when i smelled the burning in the car and thus far no other electrical or light areas have been affected.i thought this should be reported in the event kia trunks start burning.

The nhtsa website says i have a recall under my vin numberbut when i go to the kia website and enter it for service it says no recall found, so i can not have it repaired.

This vehicle has now repaired 2 times for recall on brake light/wiring issue.we were charged by the jenkins kia of gainesville, florida for the last 2 times. This is a safety issue since brake light keeps burning out. Mechanic at another business advised bulb burned so much the bulb holder was burned. Sc158 is recall number. Repairs done 10/22/2018, 2/14/2020 wiring harness & bulb holder replacedall at our cost.recalled twice for this issue. Bulb now burned out again 2/15/21. Feel cheated by this dealer since has been recalled 2013 & 2015.

The stereo wires melted and started a fire in the dashboard. Fire was put out. Stereo is damaged.

Made a turn at approx 12 mph. Car bumped into neutral when groceries tipped over. Heater, radio, and engine all quit. Could not be restarted, vehicle had zero power. Stranded in intersection. Towed to repair, informed engine had seized due to over-revving in neutral. Had zero power, could not over-rev. Kia and warranty company refusing any responsibility or coverage.being told it needs a new engine and a new starter. Estimated repair $8500, more than twice bluebook value. I see after research this is a common problem with kia vehicles of this era. Approx. 83000 miles, all service up to date. I notice on the aul report the amount of wear on the engine, and the description of the damage using words like "heavily scored and worn to copper backing." i find it hard to believe this kind of damage could have been done in the minute or so the car was in neutral, especially since driver was aware of what had happened. (she saw the groceries tip over and hit the shifter).

The alternator isn't charging the battery fully according to my voltmeter.according to the kia dealership i just needed a new battery. This is the 3rd battery already.luckily the car seems to die after it is parked.also while driving it on the highway it accelerated on its own once and interior lights flickered and radio cut out. Hoping it is just a freak occurrence because the battery was weak.

Driving home on christmas day from my parents on the freeway, heard a noise in engine immediately pulled over. Noticed that the car was smoking. The car wouldn't turn off and my husband got out and uponopening the hood of the car noticed it was in flames. He immediately yelled for us to all get out of the car. As we started running the entire car went up in flames. Thankfully we got out when we did, however all of my children's christmas gifts, all of our belongings weren't so lucky.my kids are traumatized andin shock.the car only had 40k miles on it. Recently had the 35k service by kia and nothing was wrong with it. Yet theirwarranty meant nothing. They won't even inspect the car yet they determined that it isn't their problem.how does a relatively new car just burn up ?!?!

I didn't get the recall for the brakes in 2018 radio just went out last year for no reason window on passenger just stopped working

My 2012 kia forte 2.0l engine keeps making a ticking, knocking noise. Took it in for service and the dealer said that they could not locate the issue, but that i may just need an oil change. Oil was severely low, even though oil was just changed. There were no leaks identified. Also, my car has a jerking issue when accelerating. The car sometimes gets thrown forward without a check engine light being thrown. This especially happens on the interstate, or if the car has been driven for longer than 20 minutes. This is an extreme safety issue.

The contact owned a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle caught fire as he walked outside. The contact noticed that the windows were black from the residue of the fire. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was not filed. The fire extinguished itself before the firefighters were called. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Just recently (within this month) i have noticed that when i turn on my blinker either way, or step on my break my radio or music from my phone cuts out. It does not happen every time and i do not notice it happening at a particular speed. It happens mostly on the freeway but i just notice it did it on a surface street today. My headlights and my inside roof lights flicker also. Had a friend check it out and he said he could not find anything. Checked all the wiring for corrosion, something grounding where it shouldn't be, check my battery voltage and my transmission. Cannot figure out the problem and i am concerned about it being an electrical issue due to me driving 100+ miles a day, 6 days a week. Last thing i need is for my car to catch fire...

My 2012 kia forte has a problem with the engine suddenly racing, and acting like it is out of gear. I have taken it to my mechanic and they keep telling me that they can't find the problem. I also get problems with the brake lights: i get told that they're out when they aren't. I do regular maintenance and oil changes on my vehicle. It started in april, 2014, at first occasionally, but now it is almost constant. If the problem is not found and fixed, i am in danger of losing my transmission and worse....updated 12/10/15

My wife and i were passing another vehicle going about 75mph on a highway in southeast kansaswhen my car essentially turned off. Luckily there was a shoulder to pull onto. Tried jumping it with no luck. We had it towed to a nearby town to a body shop who kept it over the weekend to try and replicate the issue. This was a friday and we returned that following monday to pick up the car. Bodyshop stated they could not get the car to repicate what had happend and nothing flashed on the computer. We drove it in the town a little bit with no issues and proceeded home. We were out of the town about 10 minutes when we heard a small knocking that continued to get worse. We pulled over. We continued down the road to the next town which was about 5 miles away to a body shop. We just got into town when the car died again as if i turned the car off. I muscled the car to a parking lot. Tried turning the car on again and engine started smoking. Got it towed back home to a local body shop who looked at it the next day to inform me i needed a new engine, main wire harness, and starter. I contacted kia, eventhough i was only 11k miles over warranty, to see what could be done. Got it towed to a local kia dealership who looked it over and found lots a metal in the oil. They put a claim in with kia which they denied. I called customer service who then sent it to the district manager and he denied any help. It then got escalated to a higher department and they denied any help either. Prior to this i had no issues or problems with the car.during the time i had my car i had proper oil changes and maintenance. The car is only 5 years old with only 71,462 miles on it and now needs a whole new engine. Thankfully the times it stalled, which no warning light ever came on nor was there ever a noise of any kind indicating anyting was wrong, my wife and i were not in a crash.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that while the vehicle was powered off and parked, the engine started racing. The vehicle stopping after running for one full hour. The contact had to have the vehicle towed to a dealer however, the dealer could not find an issue with the vehicle. The failure recurred later and the vehicle became engulfed in flames. In addition, the air bags independently deployed. The fire department was called and was able to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer, who stated that the coating around the wire near the emergency brakes had melted and left the wires exposed. The dealer stated that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 35,000.

September 24th at 6:30 a.m. Traveling at 65mph on 91 freeway.start to slow and then stop for traffic.traffic starts to speed up and my vehicle goes into ?limp mode?.car rev meter goes up to about 5, but car will not go faster than approx. 35 mph.then within 20 seconds car surges forward and regains speed and rev counter drops to normal.take car to kia dealer its plugged into the computer.at 3pm he says there are no error codes.he and i take it for a test drive for approx. 20 miles and it does not replicate the problem.i advise him that it has done this twice before but only for a few seconds. October 1 at 6:40a.mi am traveling to work on the 91 freeway.i am doing 65 mph and start slowing down to approx. 20 mph as i pass the 55 interchange.again traffic speeds up rapidly.i am in the middle lane.i accelerate and it goes into ?limp mode?.the car will not go faster than approx. 35/40 miles per hour.the esc light comes on.cars are going past me as i am in a middle lane and i nearly get rear ended as a car behind me does not realize my speed.i pull into the slow lane just in case i need to pull to the hard shoulder.i continue slowly 5 miles to get off the freeway by work.i notice a burning smell.i get out of my vehicle and smell a very strong smell of burning that smells all over but appears to be very much stronger on the rear drivers side area.i turn the engine off.when i turn the engine back on there is no warning indicator on.

The steering wheel clicks really bad. My steering wheel components are no longer working. The airbag light has also come on with these issues.

When driving the brake lights continuously illuminate. The bulbs in the tail light burn out frequently on average of 60-90 days..

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving or when warming up the vehicle, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The contact also stated that there was an abnormal fuel odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the air conditioning compressor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure of the knocking sound recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the mechanic or a kia dealer. The contact mentioned nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) and stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

At 70,000 miles the engine started knocking at cold start up and continuing to get worse. Oil has been changed every 5,000 to 7,000 as kia recommends. I have contacted kia about this issue and they said my engine is not a recall. I read nhtsa is leading the kia recall but not sure if that's actual fact or not. What i hope for is that more investigation goes into the regular 2.0 engine that's in my car. I read kia has a 2.0 turbo recall and don't understand what the turbo part is about since it's an external part of the engine. I have all maintenance records of oil changes until i purchased the car in the 43,000 miles range from my original lease. I then recorded every oil change done but don't have the receipts. I do all my own work now because i don't trust kia and if one tries to call them it's impossible to talk to anyone. I'm actually not sure how much longer my car will run but i'm not willing to trade it in and send this issue onto someone else like kia is doing to it's customers. I'm not exactly sure what will happen if the engine fails when i'm driving it but i now have it documented. At some point i'll have to replace the engine and really don't feel i should be responsible since i have followed kia's maintenance requirements. I'm not sure if nhtsa can help my issue but i don't know who to turn to. I thank you for your time and hope you all have a wonderful daysincerely[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2012 kia forte koup car will shut off while driveing and very loud knock in the engine took it to kia in lancaster ohio vehicle throwing no codes why is this engine not included in the recall i have seen others ask the very same question for exact vehicle

Purchased a used 2012 kia forte koup 2.4l on 02/05/21. 4 months later, i was driving vehicle when i experienced engine failure. Towed to dealer who discovered a hole in the bottom of engine block. Needs new engine. Kia tested the ecu and sent the results to corporate kia. 8 weeks has past with no update on replacing the recalled engine under warranty. Now trying to file claim under extended warranty. Cannot afford to replace engine out of pocket. Engine failed 4 months after purchasing.

2012 kia forte koup driving on a 45mph road when without warning engine seized causing dangerous situation attempting to pull car to side without power.took vehicle to delearship for warranty service as car was still under warrantywas denied warranty service for ludicrous refusal to accept maintenance records because i scanned the originals and would not hand over the originals.vehicle was in perfect running order and i provided video evidence showing kia video i happened to have shot just a few weeks before the engine failed demonstrating car was running perfect without any shakes, rumbles, odd noises and absolutely no "service engine" or other warning lights.kia took 2 months to even give me a preliminary decision that would not cover the repairs with no offer to assist with a loaner car or rental or any other assistance.opened engine up to find metal shavings and other remnants from manufacture floating around in oil pan.upon investigating a little further discovered that kia needs to held accountable not only for the gdi theta engines that have been recalled under sc147 but also the mpi model engines like i have in my car.in the recall kia claims metal shavings from manufacture of the crankshafts on the gdi engines caused the issues.......however, the exact same crankshaft down to the part numbers are 100% identical.please i implore you to hold kia accountable not only for the gdi engines but also the mpi as well.they both use the exact same part kia claims had issues and kia continues to lie and not honor their warranty.

My engine started making ticking noises around 60,000 miles. I was told by more than one person that it was just noisy lifters, so i ignored it. Now, at just over 100,000 miles my new mechanic recommended i get it looked at. Kia told me my engine needs replaced and it will cost $6000. The car isn't even worth that much. I always kept up on my maintenance because the salesman when i bought the care told me that if i took care of it, i could expect 300,000+ miles out of it. What a lie. I'm going to continue driving the car in hopes that they do the right thing and expand their recall. Hopefully before i go up in flames.

Our local kia dealership diagnosed this problem with our car on 3/15/19.2012 kia forte sx 2.4l (106,430 miles, 6430 miles out of warranty) found the engine to be knocking.found the #2 rod bearing to be severely worn and causing the engine to make noise and stop rotating.recommend replacing the engine.the 2.4l theta ii engine was not part of original recall so kia would not replace engine and since it was out of warranty we were responsible for the cost of a replacement engine and labor.we declined, and car as sat stationary for past two years at our home.when we found out this 2.4l theta ii engine was now included in a recent recall we asked kia to provide alternatives to replacing the engine since the car has sat for two years and i no longer have faith in the reliability of this car as parts of the car are no longer in working condition and/or missing. They refused any alternatives.they wanted us to pay to have the car towed to a local kia dealer to diagnose a problem that was already diagnosed back on 3/15/19.the original class action lawsuit over the 2.0l and 2.4l gdi engines provided alternatives to engine replacement and reimbursement for expenses associated with the engine failure (like towing), rebates, etc.since kia was found at fault and fined by the us government over their delay in recalling these 2.4l theta ii engines and since that delay was the only reason we didn't fix this car on 3/15/19 we feel we should be compensated for our expenses and loss of transportation because of their faulty engine and their negligence in delaying the recall.having the engine replaced now is no longer a viable option for us.we offered to purchase a new vehicle with the cost of engine replacement/labor put towards a rebate, kia refused.

Was driving to work and the engine threw a rod out the block.

I have a 2012 forte with 103000 miles. It has developed a rod knock that seems to be a safety issue with these vehicles. Why is the 2.0 engine not included with this recall?

Driving on highway the car made a noise and stalled. Pulled over and all the oil was on the highway. Kia dealership said a piston in the engine blew and a rod broke and made a hole in the engine block. Car is less than 10 years old. Car has 98,000 miles. Kia refuses to replace the engine because iā€™m not an original owner. The whole engine needs to be replaced

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,903.

When driving on freeway atflow of traffic motor shuts down at high speed and on the highways.

I bought my 2012 kia forte with about 9,000 miles in 2014. I used good pennzoil synthetic oil and did regular oil changes. My engine started ticking at about 110,000 miles. I wrote it off as a ticky lifter. At 184, 000 miles my oil light came on. I pulled over and checked oil. Less than a quart low, so i filled it. 5 miles later car dies and won't turn over again. Mechanic says engine locked up. Then i read online that this 2.4 theta engine has been recalled in later model kias and hyundai. But not in early years because of some code number. Give me a break. Kia needs to pay up before someone gets killed.i am calling everyone i can to keep this issue out there. Make them do a recall. Nbc news is next on my list. I was on a city street going about 30. Luckily not pulling out in front of someone

I have financed a 2012 kia forte hatch back and on may 13th 2020 i was driving down the highway when all the sudden the check engine, check oil and all the lights came on. The vehicle started to decelerate, became hard to steer. I was able to pull over and the engine died and the car wouldn't restart. I took it to the kia dealership and another mechanic and was told my engine had spontaneously failed. The car sat in my garage since and on 2/8/2021 i received a recall letter from kia in the mail. I had my vehicle towed to kia on 2/9/2021 and it has been sitting there since. I was told today that my car won't pass or fail the test and is therefore not covered under the recall and my car won't be repaired. I am now expected to keep making monthly payments on the finance note and the insurance for a vehicle that doesn't run. I need to have this issue resolved.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that after pulling into the driveway, there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine which caused the vehicle to stall. The contact stated that the engine ceased and was unaware if the check engine warning light had illuminated. In addition, the contact attempted to start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start. Joey griffin kia 3249 n church st, rocky mount, nc 27804, was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

Takata recallcar started to make noises. Then after getting it checked out i was told the car needed a whole new engine!it is only 6 years old. Bought used from a dealer in 2013. Engine died on the way home still have a loan and can't even drive it!!!!saw multiple peoples complaints online for same problem!when will i have a recall to drive a car that i am still paying for.the car was in motion and going straight on a state road when this accured.speed limit on state road i was on is 50 when the engine started pinging electrical went off then motor stopped. This caused us to have to push vehicle off to side of road.

The engine light suddenly came on and engine was tapping stalling and i smelled burnt melted plastic smell. The oil light was intermittently coming on and off. The fuel was consumed quickly than normal. I had brakes remaing engaged when foot not pressing pedal and could feel contact to road. Engine has failed car was moving.

2012 kia forte ex sedan 2.0 theta 2 engine piston slap caused damage to the pistons and the engine block. The vehicle had the problem when stationary and got progressively worse while in motion. Vehicle has not been repaired and not driven since due to research finding this is a much too common problem with kia forte owners

This car has been well maintained by dealership. Engine began making a tapping noise inside, and dealership told wife it was normal. This last time i took car in , and find out that engine needs to be replaced. Same engine being recalled on other vehicles, but not on my year of car. Not the first person to report this issue.

Engine has developed a knocking sound at idle upon cold start. Suspect connecting rod bearings are failing, similar to the current 2.0l theta engine recall. Oil and filter has been changed every 5k miles since new. The 2.4l theta ii engine needs to be included in the current recall.

Started with a knocking sound in the engine. Engine light came up and car started to lose speed. The engine seized and my mechanic told me that the car needed a new engine as it was not repairable. The forte is not on the list of recalls but it has the same engine issues as the ones listed under the recall. I am still paying for this car that is 5 years old!!

Engine is making a ticking noise due to manufacturing defect.

Bought 2012 kia forte about two months ago. A couple weeks ago it started a knock noise. A couple days after the noise started i took it in for a scheduled oil change hoping the noise would improve. It has gotten worse, now i'm waiting for my next appointment to get my car looked at and i'm scared to drive it. I was aware of engine recalls on 2.4l hyundai engines, as we own a sonata that was affected. I did not know that 2.0l engines had been recalled. I don't understand how 2.0l in the forte are not included.

My son was driving our 2012 kia forte down the highway. We bought this car from kia dealer about 11 months ago with ~115,500 and it now only has ~118,100 miles on it. So we only drove it less than 3000 miles over the last one year.while he was traveling down the highway, he started hearing a clanking noise and then the car stopped and would not drive any longer. He said no engine warning light ever came on. Only his oil maintenance light had come on right before it occurred. He checked the oil on the side of the road and the oil was fine and still had approximately 2000 life miles remaining on it.we had it towed to a mechanic that inspected the car and he said the engine is seized up. But, he says sees no maintenance related reason for why this engine has seized up like it has.i did some checking online to see if there were any issues reported for this. We found there was a recall by hyundai and kia for an issue that sounds exactly the same as what occurred to our engine. I believe this car has the same engine or at least has the same issue as the other engines, which are same year models, but different make.i believe the 2012 kia forte has the exact issue as the other multiple recalled models i would like to have the same diligence done for this model to see if the same issue has occurred with our engine.there are multiple forte owners that have also had this complaint.

Knocking in engine caused by thrown rod bearing. I was driving down the highway in cruise when vehicle started knocking. No warning lights or anything before or after! was changing oil regularly

My engine has begun making a loud knocking sound and two mechanics have said the engine has a serious problem and needs to be replaced. The knocking started with normal use and regular oil changes. Started while idling and got louder with faster rpm

This complaint it about kia motors. My motor sent a rod through the block due to a recall. However, i called a week before because of rod knock that started on 05/22/21(blew 05/27/21) , i was told parts were ordered. A week after i was told that the engine blew. I towed it to a dealership (05/28/21) its been an additonal 2 and a half weeks with no update as to when itll be repaired, no loaner offered. Ive already lost one job because of kia's lack of quality control. This engine failure is common and i believe common enough to not have to wait this long for work to be done.

I have had an engine knock for about a year and a half now and have seen all the recalls for same engines in other vehicles. My car engine has not been recalled as of yet it appears. We have the same theta 2 engines that have already been recalled.

I had bought the car used 5 years ago with 36,000 miles on it. I have had no problems with the car for the at time span. I had changed to oil at the recommended intervals using oem oil filters and full synthetic oil. I was driving home from work when the engine started to develop a rattling noise. As i made a left turn onto a country road traveling at a speed of 45mph the rattling had got more noticeable and the engine had a lost of power. Eventually the rattling turn into a metallic crunching noise before the engine completely shut off on its own. I had pulled to the side of the road to further inspect the problem and that is when i had discovered engine oil coating the engine compartment and leaking onto the ground. The engine would not restarted leaving me stranded on the side of the road until a tow vehicle had arrived.

When starting my vehicle in park, i put it in reverse, and it barely goes. It seems to lack power, or is being bogged down. It almost comes to a complete stop, and then it suddenly kicks in, and jerks you backwards very fast. It is scary because i could easily hit something or crash, because the car becomes almost out of control. You never know when it is going to kick back in either. I have taken it to the kia dealer, but they said it did not do it for them of course. So i am stuck with a car that is having a lot of issues. I don't have the money to fix them right now. I am not working, and the dealership that sold me the car ripped me off. I have already put a lot of money into it. It seems to do it the worst when it rains for some reason.

Vehicle makes a loud ticking noise which seems to be the exact complaint of recall sc147.however, sc147 does not include the forte.vehicle has 104,000 miles and has had frequent oil changes conducted by a kia dealer. All descriptions and videos online point to the rod bearing causing the ticking noise.

Failing oil pump at 140k miles

Engine always has had excessive blow by. And noise. Smell fuel at times. Der sys its normal for this car.

Car has less than 80,000 miles and i was driving it today and made a loud clicking noise. I pulled over and the car startedsmoking and then i heard all the oil drain out. I had a mechanic to look at it and he found pieces of the motor broke or crank casing. I had to get a tow truck to park it atmy house. I have pictures but it says it's to big to upload.

Was driving to work, motor developed rod knock and later blew up due to the knock. Which was caused by one of the recalls for this vehicle.

Engine knocking & clicking. There was a recall on the engine from kia for these models. It happens on startup and fades after driving awhile

My 2012 kia forte started producing a tapping noise when idling which became more rapid and a bit louder when accelerating. Resembling a "sticky lifters" sound, i decided to wait 2-3 weeks for my next oil change to have it looked at.my mechanics had no idea what was causing the noise, which was much louder after 2-3 weeks, and advised i take my car to the dealership.i immediately scheduled an appointment and got the car to the dealer the following week.the dealership rep first tried to insist, without having looked at the car, that it was my mechanic's fault in my routine oil changes.i called my mechanic, discussed their filters oil etc (they are a reputable company), and concluded that the dealership's response would not do.the dealership finally listened to the sound and immediately admitted it was not the oil/filter.they told me they needed to keep the car for 2+ weeks to investigate.i asked if i could bring it back saturday to make arrangements for work.the rep said yes and then the mechanic came out and said it would be absolutely dangerous to take the car and then was the first to tell me that the whole engine needed to be replaced.regardless, they eventually discovered metal shavings in the oil throughout the engine from manufacturing debris.today (4/8/17), an official hyundai and kia recall was announced on various model engines - the forte was not on the list.i immediately felt this report needed to be filed to let other forte owners know that 1) some dealerships are not taking responsibility and 2) the forte is not immune to this problem.it is ridiculous that kia would not acknowledge the full extent of the issue even if fortes are not as commonly affected.this is clearly a dangerous issue and lack of full responsibility taken by kia could have major repercussions.

Driving when it stalled along with minor smoking from engine area on sevaeral occasions. I contacted my local kia to see if they may have insight as to what mihjt be the cause only to be told they would need to indspect car along with a hefty hourly fee. And within several days it stalled , the engine came on then died. I towed car home. It woul start and run for appr. 2 minuteswith a very loud knocking noise. I then had to have it towed to mechanic shop to have it checked to be told it was blown due to throwed rods and would need an engine replacement wgich i did have done. It was brought to my attention by the shop to the issues kia had had and was having with the theta engine as thats what my car had. Ive contacted the main kia office with my issue and complaint only to be told my car was not on the recall list and they couldd not assist me and declined any other calls ive triedto place to them.

Back in 2017 i needed to have the engine on my kia repaired after only financing it for about a year due to loud knocking my oil levels were up to par. Present day, 2020 i am having the same exact issue once again. As i was driving in the freeway i felt a weird shift followed by loud knocking coming from my engine.

On four separate occasions, june 5-july 17, 2015 our kia forte 5 door hatchback failed to start. Tow company personnel attempted to jump start the car without success. Car was taken to two separate dealerships and the failure could not be replicated. Repairs will not be made until the condition can be replicated. After sitting for a prolonged period (1-3 days) the car will start. We replaced the battery on june 23rd at the suggestion of a tow truck driver who refused to tow us. He related that in hot weather kia cars often will not start if the battery is weak. With a new top of the line battery, on july 17th the car refused to start. When the 105 degree temperature dropped to 90 degrees, the car started. We are stuck with a new car that will not start reliably in hot weather. Dealers cannot fix it.our warranty is "valueless".kia corporate has assigned a case number and we are seeking repair or replacement. Until this happens, we are frightened to trust our kia in our remote sierra nevada mountain location wherebeing stranded can be life threatening. We have made a $21,000.00 mistake and lemon law court is our only recourse.

I bought a 2012 kia forte ex hatchback with 60,000 miles about a month ago.two instances have occurred which i believe might be related.first time i was traveling @ 65mph around a 50mph curve on cruise control.i hit a bump, and cruise control shut off automatically.no big deal, i just put my foot on the gas and reset the cc after the curve.however, yesterday, i was nearing the beginning of a merge ramp to get on the interstate.i was turning and accelerating when i hit a pothole and the engine shut off.instead of merging onto the interstate, i coasted @ 5-10 mph until i could reach the side of the road.i put the car in park, turned the key off and then immediately started the car back up.there were no warning lights and the car ran like a top.this is a serious safety problem and i am lucky i didn't get rear-ended (this was an on/off ramp, so cars were piling up behind me and honking due to my slow speed).i had the car checked by a mechanic before i bought it and he said that although there was no cel, there was a code in the computer for the 'yaw' sensor (he told me if the car runs ok, he wouldn't worry about replacing it).knowing this, i have turned off the electronic stability control in hopes that the issue is related and will not happen again if the esc is off.car is in good shape and was well taken care of by previous owner.

Takata recall. Alright i also have the same issue most people have. My engine start making horrible noise around 129000. One day , i stopped at red light literally my whole car was shaking. I thought every single person have same problem with this model.

My engine has begun making a loud knocking sound and two mechanics have saidthe engine has a serious problem and needs to be replaced.the knocking started with normal use and regular oil changes.started while idling and got louder with fasterrpm

Vehicle purchased used from kia dealership claiming it was well maintained, one owner, with 60,000 miles.at 65,000 miles, engine started making ticking noise in sync with engine speed.oil change did not quiet the noise.dealership diagnosed as "internal" problem, requiring engine replacement.

My kia forte has 94k miles on it started making a ticking noise took it to a mechanic he said you need a new engine, excuse me??? looked online tons of people are having the same issue why no recall ???? please help!

I bought my 2012 kia forte brand new. Well..i don't understand why this engine has not been recalled.it makes a horrible ticking noise like its about to blow up and i was told the engine needs to be replaced. My mileage is 96,000. My dim headlights keep blowing as well.and its something electrical.kia needs to be responsible and go ahead and recall because i have the same engine as the one thats been recall but they say mine isn't listed in the recall.

Developed a very subtle ticking noise in 2018, happening mostly at low speeds, gone after warm up. Took it to dealership (napleton's in urbana, il), and was told they could not locate any noise and didn't find any impact on drivability. I continued driving the car, with regular oil changes (all my maintenance was done at the dealer), until september 2020, when the noise became very very noticeable, at all speeds and almost constant. Because i had moved to california, i took it to another kia dealership in oakland and they said they can install a used engine replacement (with 30 k miles on it already) for a minimum of 6200 before tax. I thought they were kidding, took it to an independent mechanic because they didn't even do so much as change the oil in that visit.... Well the independent mechanic agrees on the rod bearing being on its way out and that the engine can seize at any point. The independent mechanic tore down the engine to diagnose it. I now have to pay more than the car's worth to ensure it doesn't seize at highway speeds and kill someone, or have to sell it for scraps, despite installing brake pads, rotors, a new evap canister (cracked and failed smog test in california)and purge valve just this year alone. The vehicle is dangerous to drive now. Kia needs to fix this. These engines need to be replaced under warranty. Forums are full of failed kia fortes from 2012, some much earlier than mine. 93.5k miles since buying it in august 2013).

I was driving my car on the highway and whilst driving my car the check engine light came on which proceeded to make it hard for me to steer and completely slowed down my car and it eventually gave out on me . I wasn't experiencing any other problems . When taken to a mechanic they stated it was the engine

I have a 2012 forte with 57,000 miles. It has developed a rod knocktapping noise that seems to be a safety issue with these kiaengines in their vehicles. Why is the 2.0l engine not included with this recall from january 2021? on march 26, 2021 driving down the highway the check engine light came on, which we all know is not a good thing for any vehicle. Took car to the kia dealer were the mechanic said that he will have to breakdown the engine to troubleshoot what could be the cause of the check engine light coming on. I need kia motors to fix these ongoing problems with their 2.ol engines.

Good afternoon. I wanted to bring to the attention and the severity of this issue. In the month of june 2018 my expecting wife in her 2012 kia forte was on her way home on the interstate when the car with no signs leading up to this decided to die unexpectedly on the side of the interstate.we had the car towed to a certified dealer to have diagnoses of what happened the conclusion was the engine's connecting rod bearings seized. Much like the kia and hyundai recall for the exact same failure for more than 1.5 million cars are impacted. I expressed how this could be due to car has 68,000 miles on it and all the maintenance was performed regularly. The wife purchased this car used from a well known dealer only a year ago and added 12,000 on the odometer. I contacted kia customer service and was tossed around with no answers. After more than a month kia corp came to the conclusion that no help would be given on replacement of a engine. I expressed how dangerous this situation was when your vehicle's engine just seizes and how close my wife and unborn child was almost in a very bad accident. There was zero cares given. I spoke with a kia representative after review from a manager and was told they would not give any assistance due to, and i quote " because you have not owned a prior kia product and you are not considered a loyal customer and due to that conclusion that is the reason and conclusion for making the decision".i was to upset and expressed my frustration and still no resolution. The car is still inoperable till i exhaust all paths and make sure my experience does not happen to any others. This is a very dangerous issue and kia does not want to own up to it. They are sweeping this issue under a rug till somebody really gets hurt or worst. I want kai to take ownership of this issue and make it right not just for me but others having this issue.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle turned off completely. The failure caused the lighting and steering to become inoperable. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic and then towed to van syckle kia (729 hogan rd, bangor, me 04401) where it was diagnosed that the engine was blown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a loud noise and the vehicle shut off. The contact pulled the vehicle over as smoke appeared from under the hood. The vehicle could not be restarted and was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed that the engine seized. The manufacturer was contacted, provided a case number, and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a kia dealer. Bob bell kia of glen burnie (7900 eastern ave, baltimore, md 21224, (410) 766-3600) was contacted and stated that there were no recalls and the warranty was expired. The failure mileage was 160,000.

My vehicle is driven only minimally with presently 23540 miles registered on the odometer.since new, the engine has always experienced pre-ignition and pinging, especially under light load.i suspect a problem with the spark timing exists.the second problem is a piston slapping sound heard during cold engine operation.it is certainly not a normal sound.both problems were reported soon after vehicle purchase in 2012.the service dealership concluded that the sounds were normal for the engine design.my concern is that either condition can lead to an engine fire.

This engine has always had loud valves. Dealer says nothing to worry about when we bought it in 2012. At 121,000 miles, the engine has suddenly developed a solid knocking from deep within the engine - much like the same conditions that resulted in the optima, sportage, and sorrento engines being recalled.kia claims there is no issue with forte engines yet they exhibit the same knocking that ends with catastrophic engine failure due to premature bearing wear. When cold, my 2.0l gas engine clatters more than a diesel truck.is it possible they are resisting adding the forte due to the sheer number of those vehicles sold?dealer wants $109 per hour for diagnostics with no cap on hours spent. On the kia forum i follow, there are people who have waited 3 months for a replacement engine. I'm not looking forward to spending more for a replacement engine than the vehicle is worth. Up until now, this has been a great vehicle. Solid, reliable, one i would jump into and drive 1200 miles on a trip without hesitation. We averaged 38 mpg making trips from ny to fl and back.now i'm scared to even move it in the driveway. It's just sad that kia appears to have dropped the ball like this.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was moved onto the road shoulder. The vehicle was towed to valley-hi kia (14644 valley center dr, victorville, ca 92395, (760) 955-0046) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine failed and needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine). The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

I bought my 2012 kia forte 2.0l with 30,000 miles 3 years ago. I now have 100,955 miles. Maintenance has been kept up and vehicle has been working fine with no issues. My husband was driving and was at a stop light when the car just shut down. When you would turn the key you would here 1 click and then nothing. We bought a starter because we tested the starter on the vehicle and it was bad. Still even after replacing the starter you would only hear one click. I had a mechanic come look at the car only to tell me that my engine has locked up. Says its caused by poor maintenance and/or bad design. He said the first thing he checked was the maintenance and everything was perfect on the car, but again my engine was locked up.

I rear-end a suv at 50 miles per hour, hit my nose and mouth on the steering wheel.the front end is severely damage, the engine caught fire, fluids were leaking but neither air bag deployed.

I previous report number 11384011, pictures uploaded: driving to repair location on freeway and the car starting smoking and burst into flame from the engine. Managed to stop and got out of the burning car. I immediately called fire service who came and stop the burning. Car towed to kia dealership facility. *ln *as

I was on my way home one afternoon driving on a 2 lane highway in a rural area a speed limit of 55mph,that's the posted speed. I didn't have anything going that would prevent from hearing the noise im about to hear!! it was like car was now carrying huge weight and very;little power. I tried to pull off the side and then cars oil light came on and then it stalled, i put it in neutral position attempting to start car, car did start but only to make a loud knocking from hood area, i popped hood and checked oil and other fluids, everything seemed fine with fluids but engine has a horrid knocking, car didn't want to stay at idle so i called for a tow, then taken to local auto repair, they called after their investigation stating the "camshaft timing was bad and by looking at different things they felt a new engine was only option as the bearing was now bad, informed me that upon looking for an engine it appeared a new engine around 6000 dollars was only one available . I called my auto ins comp to explain and see if i had enough coverage for the repair, to be told that they(ins com) wasn't liable for the engine i did call a few other repair places and was told same thing (3 total)so i again towed car to home and haven't attempted to drive. I spoke to dealership to be told my car wasn't in previous recall but stated they had a slew call and report engine failure and he voted the forte be in the standing recall or place a recall for the kia forte and sudden engine failure.. Zero trouble with the car and would like to get repaired so i can have transportation again. Bought new from dealership i love car but this problem needsa prompt and thorough investigation on my 2012 kia forte, ive been told it has exact same engine as the cars in the standing recalls, when my engine blowd and forced me off road was very scary and dangerous.

At around 125,000 miles - i noticed a ticking sound and tapping coming from the engine on my 2.0l mpi "theta ii" 2012 kia forte. At first it went away quickly after startup but then when it got colder that winter it got noticeably louder and is now constantly present at 157,930 miles, speeding up as i accelerate the vehicle. I brought the car to my mechanic at around 128,800 miles and he said that i would need to have the engine taken apart to do more diagnosis and that it might be better to just drive it to see if it gets worse.i've gotten documented regular oil changes since i was the owner in 2017, switching to the kia dealership at my mechanic's suggestion after having them check out the tapping/ticking issue. These oil changes have not resolved the problem, instead it's continuing throughout the year with each winter making it slowly get worse. In doing some searches, i'm not alone in my experience and i'm apparently lucky that i've made it this long with my theta ii engine. When the recall campaign began for the gdi engines i was hopeful that kia would do the right thing and include the mpi engines. However, while they have expanded the recall to include mpi engines, they have not expanded it to include 2.0l mpi engines with the same components that can wear excessively including connecting rods/connecting rod bearings. Many 2.0l mpi owners have experienced failures, including fellow enthusiasts that love and take care of our vehicles, and i worry about the danger that can occur with a suddenly failing engine, let alone the potential fire risks. I believe that the 2.0l mpi engine kia forte models should also be included in the recall. I have attached documentation from parts diagrams that show the parts commonality between the 2.4 mpi and 2.0l mpi engines.i

Car was stalling. Engine light was not turning on, so i was unclear of issue.took car to dealership on tuesday, june 29th, at 9am for repair. Engine has recall.car has since been at dealership, following repair test failure.dealership refuses to offer loaner vehicle, but states repairs could take up to 3 weeks, as they have to wait for new engine to be delivered. I am without a vehicle and should not have to pay for a rental, as the damage is fault of kia.

Vehicle has a severe internal engine knock and will require rebuilding or replaced.it has 112,000 miles and has been serviced at the required intervals with kia specified products. 2.0 liter engine.

I bought my 2012 kia forte back in 2015 with approx. 40k miles on and this last summer of 2017 the vechile would not start after returning home from work one evening.i drove it just fine to work and when i got home and shut off the engine, it would not start again. After towing it to a mechanic i was informed that the engine would need to be replaced.as this is the same engine that is in the optima and sportage that have recalls on their engines, i do not understand why the forte is not included in this as well.

Purchased my kia forte 2.4l hatchback used 5 years ago with 42,000 miles on it. I have had no problems with the car and have changed to oil at the recommended intervals and participated in the manufacturer recommended maintenance at certified kia dealers only. In between oil changes, oil level never decreased so there were no leaks. I was driving home on a 3-hour trip when the engine started to develop a rattling noise. I pulled over to check the fluids and exposed belt and no issues. The rattling grew more noticeable from a rattling to a grinding noise (60-70 mph) and then the malfunction indicator light came on.within minutes the engine completely shut off, power lost and speed decreasing without a way to accelerate. I was on a busy virginia highway and was able to pull onto the shoulder.towed to certified kia dealer who stated that once they opened the oil pan, chunks of metal came out and there were gaping holes in engine block. Clearly this engine is facing the same terrible fate of the other engines recalled by kia; why wont they admit and recall the kia engines? as second owner, car is no longer covered under warranty.

Driving down an interstate around 75mph the engine started making an abnormal loud engine knocking noise so i pulled over to the median and the oil light came on, engine seized, and the car died and would not start.car had oil.towed 100+ miles to our local kia dealership and they said #2 rod bearing "severely worn and causing the engine to make noise and stop rotating".they recommended a complete engine replacement at a cost of around $5700 (cost and labor).2012 kia forte sx with 2.4l engine and 106,xxx miles (6,000 outside their 10year/100,000 mile warranty).car had regular oil changes at the proper times.this is the same type of problem (worn rod bearings) kia/hyundai had with their other engines which required a recall to address the thousands of grievances.i would like these 2.4l forte engines to also be included in a future recall because i believe these engines are either defective in their manufacturing process or just faulty by design.had i not pulled over when i did there is a possibility the engine would have seized while i was driving interstate speed with the typical interstate traffic (semi trucks all over) with my wife and two small children on board.kia refuses to acknowledge a problem and so far have offered no satisfaction.a modern car should last more than 7 years, unless it was designed wrong or damaged in the manufacturing process.

*ln

I was driving and all of the sudden the engine made a really loud knocking noise. Unsafe to drive at this time. Has a consistent knocking in the engine when the car is running. No explanation as to what caused the issue.

Engine failure at 71,000 miles. Zero prior issues. Not covered by kia due to transfer of ownership and the lack of warranty beyond 60k.

Turn on the car and the engine started making a loud knocking noise. I was told the engine needs to be replaced. I have always taken the car in for regular scheduled oil changes and maintenance services.

. I was driving on the freeway on my way to work going about 65 mph when i started a hearing a knocking sounds. At first it wasnt that loud i only had a few miles to get to work so i thought i could make it but then the sound got really loud. I pulled of the freeway and parked it at a friends house and he took me to work. So i go back the next day to try to figure out what was wrong with it i checked the oil to see if it was low it was ok. I had just done a oil change about 2 weeks before i tried to turn it on but the car wouldn't crank at all. I had it towed to a shop and the mechanic looked at it and told me that i would a new engine. This is a 2012 kia forte with around80xxx miles on it and now it needs a new engine. I have a 2001 ford focus with 190*** miles on it and the only thing i've had to fix on it was the clutch the went out 2 years ago. I'm still paying this car off and i can't even drive it. I'm looking around online and this seems to be a common problem, people just driving and then they hear a knocking sound and then the engine goes out. I took really good care of this car i went above and beyond to make sure that this car would last long yet it didn't matter. Even finding a good engine is hard to do so and expensive when i thought i had one the seller took it apart to see if the engine is worthy of selling it with his warranty promise. He gave me back my money because the engine i bought from him was no good and he didn't want to sell me a a possible faulty engine.

About a week ago car was running fine except it would shut offf while driveing on occasion and throwing no codes so matt taylor kia could t figure out what to do with it..the car has developed a very loud knocking noise ,putting off a very bad small and smok e out the exhaust, and recent oil change and we check the dip stick and oil is beyond low wich did not make any sense.the car has the 2.4 engine wich sadly is not on the recall list despite many reports of the same symptoms that ultimately lead to engine fires.i refuse to let my son get back in his vehicle this car needs added to the massive recall list on kia motors asap before people are killed

Engine has a slight knock and consistently has a rough start-up, but was not included in latest recall notice from kia.first noticed the problem in 2017, shortly after purchasing the vehicle used. Took it to the dealership who wanted to rebuild the engine. We declined due to cost and after some internet research, knowing that this is an ongoing issue with these cars, we were hoping it would be addressed in the 2020-2021 recall.instead, our vin is not included in the recall and we're still driving this vehicle on a regular basis. The recall related to engine knocking, risk of fire, and other engine issues needs to be expanded to include all 2012 kia fortes.

I was driving the car at 40 mph when approaching the ramp to the highway (65 mph) and began to hear a lot of noise coming from the engine (sounded like metal scrapping).i began to pull over to the shoulder but the engine stopped running before i could get to the shoulder and note no instrument panel warning lights came on.i coasted to the shoulder of the road, put the car in park, attempted to start the car, all the instrument panel lights were flashing, and then dark smoke was coming out from the hood.i got out of the car as i thought it was on fire but could not open the hood as it was extremely hot.i waited and then tried again, finally, opening the hood with a rag.the car was towed to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the engine seized, i had it towed to a 2nd mechanic (same diagnosis) then was informed of sc147 after doing an internet search.i contacted kia and opened a case #13204401 where i then had to have the car towed for the 3rd time to a kia dealership (bob bell, baltimore, md) where they had to do their diagnostic test (technicians cell video to show the car will not start), per kia, to come to the conclusion my car is not part of sc147 (according to my vein #).this safety recall is for 2.4l gdi engines and mine is a 2.4l dohc.in addition to my complaint, i want to know where in the manufacturing process (what plant was my engine assembled?) if given they are the same engines but only a top covering difference (gdi vs dohc), then how do i know for sure my engine should not have been part of major sc147 since my vehicle had been running with no issues and regular maintenance with 160,000 + miles?

At about 99,500 miles, my 2012 kia forte 2.0-l car began making a loud ticking sound, which i thought was the valve lifters. However, after taking it to the dealership, they diagnosed it, using a stethoscope, and determined it was the wrist pin on the piston connecting rod. In my opinion, this car is a safety hazard and should be immediately recalled for safety reasons.

Motor has a knocking sound an no longer operates

Kia fire: i was driving about 20 miles and was stopped at a stop light at a major intersection when the car started to make a knocking sound and then stalled out. I tried to restartthe car, which restarted, then immediately stalled out again. Traffic behind me got out of their cars to tell me the car was on fire, but i couldn't see it because it was underneath the hood and smoke was coming from the bottom of the car. 2 other drivers got myself and my daughter out of the car, while another driver used a rag to open the hood and spray the engine block with an extinguisher. My daughter and i didn't sustain any injuries, but did inhale some smoke. The car was inoperable at this point and had to be towed while we waited on a ride. The car was towed to the kia dealership where they took the engine apart to try to investigate the issue. They were unsure what caused the fire, but the wiring harness seemed to be melted, along with other belts in the engine bay. I had to file this as a claim under insurance, the total damages were above $4500 and my car was out of commission for 3 months.

Back in 2018 my engine caught fire as i was driving down the highway. I had to get my car towed to a shop and they said that my engine needed to be replaced. I've had kept regular routine maintenance with the vehicle. Upon further research the 2012 forte uses hyundai and kia's 'theta ii' engine. The theta ii engines could have catastrophic failure due to a manufacturing process issue. Sure enough i did indeed have engine failure and had to pay an arm and a leg to replace my engine. Now i fear that this second engine will follow suit. Only some models fell under the recall but kia really needs to consider the 2012forte models and any other model that falls in range. Definitely a safety issue and kia needs to be responsible! i had to call emergency services to respond to make sure the fire went out.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. During cold weather conditions, the vehicle failed to exceed 2000 rpms. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. The vin was not available.

Start it with a ticking noise that was persistent every time we turn the car on and eventually just blew up in the middle of us driving down the road. Kia is not helping there is no recalls for this model car or issue and we are just being ignored. Finally got a call back from the mechanic to find out that kia stopped making this model engine because they had so many issues for it but yet no recall there's no possible way to fix our car now good job kia you suck #kiasucks

Back in april 2016 the hose that transfers transmission fluild was recalled i brought my car in to have it fixed. On 05/16/2017 my car started shifting weird and then (while i was driving on a city street with my two month old daughter) is now leaking transmission fluid and the hose is broke that was supposed to be fixed and is not safe to drive due to the fluid and broken hose it shifts out of control and stalls.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, he heard an abnormal clattering sound coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found; however, the engine oil was changed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that he had to pay the cost for the oil change and an oil consumption would be performed. The contact declined. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer several times and the engine was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle could not be repaired under an unknown recall unless the vin was included. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

I was driving the car for about 2 days and the engine oil light came on with some noise, and noise started to get louder and louder, i stopped the engine and i had to take the engine apart to see inside to see what was going on, i found metal debris from the engine in the oil ban and cylinder #2 and # 4 rod bearing worn out, and from what i read about the hyundai problem, all hyundai under recall for the same problem, i dont know how come kia no recall so far and this is the same engine installed on hyundai.

I heard knocking in the engine at approx 132,000 mi which got worse progressively. The same 2.4 liter engine that was recalled in the optima. There should be recall on the forte 2.4 engine as well.

Drove my 2012 kia forte for about half a mile around our street and i started smelling burning odor and before i could guess, where the smell was emanating from, i saw heavy smoke coming outfrom the front and side of the hood.i frantically managed to stop and park. I tried to open the hood but i couldn't. After many tries with the heat i finally opened it. As the smoke was coming from the engine, i realized it was very hot, while other parts of the whole engine compartment was cool. When itried to start it after 30 minutes, i saw the check engine signal on the dashboard. I simply parked car on the curve, locked it to find a tow truck. Next day called kia consumer affairs department and they told me that my car is not part of the recall, after i gave them my in number. They said to check after 1/27/21, the date the current recall will be published. They said to take my car for kia dealership and pay for repairs. They they will refund me if it is part of the recall on 1/27/21.

We have a 2012 kia forte that we bought new.only has 44,000 miles on it. We take care of it and don't drive it into the ground.2 months ago, engine started making noises, and car started stalling. Check engine light came on and we managed to get it to the shop, where oil and engine were checked. Everything seemed ok, no main reason found as to why. Some more oil was added and were told to drive it to reset everything and the engine light would go off.2 months, 2 oil changes/tune ups and engine light will not come off.last week, as we're leaving for my kids birthday party, car keep stalling out when we try to put it into drive.had it towed to dealer where he says we'll need a new engine. Now we're trying to get kia to pay for the engine, and we still can't get an answer as to what is causing this.on another note, this is the second kia engine we've had to get.our 2015 kia sorento had to have the engine replaced last summer (when it was only 3 years old).really wondering why the forte wasn't included in the engine recall, seems like a lot of people are dealing with this.

They said there is metal scrap in the cylinders and it is everywhere online that they spontaneously shut off while driving because of it and have been known to cause a fire. This vehicle has the same symptoms as what people describe online and i refuse to drive it.

I was driving down the highway at 70mph and my car bogged down, immediate loss of power then shut off in the middle of the highway. Got some help to push it to the shoulder, and got a wrecker to tow it home. Found engine had sized up. Seems to be a common issue with kia's and this engine. Called local kia dealer and they said the forte series was not apart of the recall even though it's the same engine in other series with the same engine problems.

Ive been driving my car for several weeks with poor performance, rough starts, and bad fuel economy. On my way to work one morning, my check engine light appeared. Later that day i took it advanced auto parts and got a 'p200a' code. I took my car to a nearby shop and had a diagnostic done which cost me $103.19. I purchased the vcm motor assembly which also cost me $244.25. Once i removed the old part i realized that the plastic piece that connects into the manifold was completely disintegrated.

My car has a 2.4 l engine in it the engine is failing it has a bearing problem i have it at kia dealership and they're telling me it's not involved in the recall and i don't see how it's not because it's the 2012 2.4l and at the same car same motor and the same problem as me going on.

Kia,hyundai theta 2.4 engine failure, under 100k miles.i have a 2012 kia forte hatch sx with the 2.4 engine.i purchased it from sunset kia of auburn valley wa with 66,000 miles not quite 3 years ago.in that time i've put about 30k miles on the car.i've had the oil changed regularly, and it has never been low.last week, on august 11, 2019, while driving to work the engine seized on the highway.i lost power steering and brake assist.i was able to pull off the road without causing an accident, but only because of the time of day.had it happened during heavier traffic a significant accident could have occurred.from online research it appears that this is a common problem for this car and others that that use the same theta ii engine. This car/engine should be recalled.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that smoke was coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the engine seals needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 20v750000 (engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

To whom it may concern:i took my 2012 kia forte to a local dealership in shreveport, louisiana(orr kia) upon receiving a important safety recall by kia motors america, inc.upon completion of my recall i was notified that the ticking/ knocking noise from the engine that has a odor smell to it was decline by techline because of a outside warranty. I'm not satisfied with this decision because the warranty clearly state vehicle's engine, engine noise, fuel smell, burning smell, etc. That may be related to an engine mechanical issue.at various times the engine light comes on and off.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that the engine was emitting a sound like that of a diesel engine. The contact stated that the engine was revving at high speeds. The contact stated that there was a loud clunking sound while starting the vehicle. Several unknown dealers were contacted were contacted and the contact was informed that the issue was common with similar vehicles. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that there was a known issue with the crank bearing however, there was no recall on the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

300 miles after complaining to dealer of slipping floor mat stopping braking and random high acceleration-a real accident occurred against a barrier in a parking garage. Mats flip far more that audi and toyota recalls. Entire car damaged by previous acceleration(random) or brakes not working due to mats. The parking garage incident occurred at 15 mph and square head on to cement barrier severely damaging bumper, hood, fenders, grill, headlights and interior engine. I injured both arms and skin abrasions on chest-due to airbag not deploying-similar to recent recalls. Dealer response was that floor mats always give away from wear and tear at 17k miles without warning-causing me near fatal other accidents.

The motor blew a rod threw the bottom of the block. Car only has 83,500 miles on it. Was traveling at 80 mph on interstate.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. When the vehicle was started, the engine warning indicator remained illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the evaporator canister was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 65,000.

2012 kia forte. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for vehicle repairs. The consumer stated the manufacturer approved reimbursement, but mailed the check to the wrong address. The manufacturer stated they would change the address, cancel the old check and mail another. The consumer stated manufacturer had not changed the address nor administered another check.

Their condition hold on a 2012 kia forte broke have talked to other owners and they have had the same problem i've taken it to the kia dealer and they said it was over the warranty period that the bumper to bumper coverage did not cover the air conditioning hose. I think something needs to be investigated and have a recall to repair all the hoses on the key is the break.

I was pulled over by a [xxx] and was informed that my brake lights were not working. I took it to the dealership and had them look at it. They told me there was a recall for that exact problem on 2009-2010 models but there was not one yet on 2012 models. My tail lights work, but my brake lights do not illuminate when i press on the brake.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the rear brake lights remained illuminated at all times without the key in the ignition switch. In addition, while the vehicle was parked in the driveway and the contact was testing the transmission shifter, it was noticed that the gear shifter easily shifted out of park without the brake pedal being depressed. The contact called crown kia st petersburg (5500 34th st n, st petersburg, fl 33714, (844) 921-3247) and scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer where it was determined that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v773000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

When driving the brake lights continuously illuminate. The bulbs in the tail light burn out frequently on average of 60-90 days..

Blinker lights, windshield wipers, air conditioner, heater,on the car constantly have to repair must be defective. As well as fuel issues with the car.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the right turn signal failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but the failure could not be replicated. The failure recurred three times and with each failure, the vehicle was returned to the dealer. On the fourth visit to the dealer, the ground wire was connected to the light bulb and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 7,000 and the current mileage was 20,263.

Brake lights not working. Tail lights and turn signal lights working fine, but brake lights fail. No fuse issue.

My 2012 kia forte has a problem with the engine suddenly racing, and acting like it is out of gear. I have taken it to my mechanic and they keep telling me that they can't find the problem. I also get problems with the brake lights: i get told that they're out when they aren't. I do regular maintenance and oil changes on my vehicle. It started in april, 2014, at first occasionally, but now it is almost constant. If the problem is not found and fixed, i am in danger of losing my transmission and worse....updated 12/10/15

Driving in a shopping center parking lot. Made a right turn into an alley. Vehicle then rapidly accelerated through the alley and then smashed into a tree.can't remember if brakes were applied or not.it all happened very quickly. I bought my 2012 kia forte ex on 11/12/2011. Right after my first oil change from the kia dealer. I took it home and parked it in my garage. This would have been friday jan. 21 2011. We were going todinner on saturday 01/22/2012. And the car would not start. Took 10 minutes. With gasoline smell in car. We let the air clear out. Well to make a long story short. I have had this car into two different dealers and they keep telling me that they cannot find the problem due to no light or service engine soon light going off. It is now 12/21/2012. And still having issues which is avery very bad safety issue. On 12/17/2012 i was getting ready to leave and had a very bad raw gasoline smell in the car. Again i called dealer and they said bring it up. So i did so. My general manager as well as fellow employees smelled the fuel odor also. General manager said to me that he felt that this was not safe to drive. Now prohibiting me from parking this car near our facility. Anyway i drove it to ft. Wayne to the dealer with all 4 windows down until entering ft. Wayne. It started raining. I had to roll them all up. At dealer. Service manager smelt the terrible smell as well as an customer and technician. They went through everything not finding any problem with the tests they did. On 12/20/2012. I was told to come and pick my car up (reps order.) since they could not get this to reoccur. So in the meantime i have an baby and 2 other children and us that are put into a dangerous situation just because they cannot pinpoint this issue. The issue is an no start or misfire then the fuel smell is there for days. My fear is that the fumes will make us sick or even an explosion. I have talked to several firemen who have explained to me what may or could happen. Why should i have to keep putting my family and myself into this danger? this is a major safety issue.

I was backing out of a driveway approx. 3 feet when the car lurched backwards at full rpm while the brakes were applied and the gas pedal went all the way to the floorboard.the only way i could get the car to stop was to turn off the ignition.it was like the brakes weren't working and the throttle was stuck.this "problem" caused damage to a support beam of a carport causing it to fail and fall on a car parked underneath.i know there are similar complaints such as this on this exact car, why hasn't there been any investigations and/or recalls on this car?this is a very unsafe car.by the way, this was a rental car and no one wants to take responsibility.

Eco boost to loud and vibration on engine.

Blinker lights, windshield wipers, air conditioner, heater,on the car constantly have to repair must be defective. As well as fuel issues with the car.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte.

I have had an engine knock for about a year and a half now and have seen all the recalls for same engines in other vehicles. My car engine has not been recalled as of yet it appears. We have the same theta 2 engines that have already been recalled.

When driving on freeway atflow of traffic motor shuts down at high speed and on the highways.

Car having knocking, pinging noise under the hood when you turn the key and start the car. Now, if you keep on driving, the engine will stall and there is a risk of an accident. Soon will lock. My car started with a knocking sound in engine. Then light came up and the car started losing speed in middle of high way. The forte has the same issue than those subject of a recall. Three strangers brought the noise to me in three different occasions: 2 people sat work and one while parked at the street before i experienced that issue.i went online and many have the same issue. My car dealer told me that the only way it can be fixed was to buy a new engine. The mileage on it is just 77,000 .

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. After reversing the vehicle, the vehicle and the gear shifter became stuck. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission cable slipped off and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,162.

*ln

I got a car loan on it and a week later i received a recall letter and. I was involved in an accident where i was rear ended and then smashed into the vehicle in front of me. The air bags did not inflate and the seat belt did not lock in place. I was traveling on a highway. My vehicle was in motion at the time of the accident. There is an active recall on the kia and it was part of the recall.

Fatal mva involving front-end collision. Air bag failed to deploy. Seat belt failed to restrain driver.

Left rear brake "wore out" and the entire braking system was suggested to be replaced.the rear axle brakes were at our cost. Kia regional claims this is "normal" as the dealership (ficcillo kia, liverpool, ny) says they have "seen this before."that bothers me.if is a known problem...........? kia regional has stopped responding.

I bought this car in april 2014 and since then i've had about three times where the brakes are applied as i'm approaching a light and the car accelerates and lurches forward, again, while braking. Another time, june 8, 2015, i was driving and applied the brake to avoid a dip in the road and it felt like the brakes were slipping and the car was not stopping. It eventually stopped, but if there were a car in front of me i would have hit it. The moments are not consistent but when they happen, it is a serious concern.

The brake lights stay on even after the vehicle is shut off. Forte brake pedal stoppers and switches could be faulty. The material for the stopper can fall apart over time and allow the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released.

My brake pedal stopper for my brake lights crumbled.

When driving the brake lights continuously illuminate. The bulbs in the tail light burn out frequently on average of 60-90 days..

Slow to stop when coming off the highway slowing down

The steering wheel started to make a clunk when you turned it now the eps light is flashing and the power no longer works this car has 67 thousand miles on it i

When turning the steering wheel whether will driving or when vehicle is stopped it makes a clicking sound and feels a little loose. If while driving and i hit a small bump the steering wheel will turn and make a clicking sound. I took my vehicle to oil change express and he said there is a recall on a part that's dealing with the power steering it's a part of the motor. When i checked there was no recall on my 2012 kia forte but there is a recall for the kia optima. Why is there not a recall on my 2012 kia forte when it has the same problem as the 2014 kia optima to be exact.

The steering wheel clicks really bad. My steering wheel components are no longer working. The airbag light has also come on with these issues.

The first time it happened i was driving around 45mph and i hit a bump on the road and all of the sudden rear hatch warning light came on and after i pulled over and checked the rear hatch and it had come open were it was ajar but the hatch hasn't been used in a couple days. The second time a few weeks later the same thing i hit a bump and the warning light came on and this time i went to the dealership and they just told me to close it harder and i have closed it how i was showed ever since, but it still happens about once a month after i went to the dealership.

There was a recall for underbody rust, which i took in for protection.there are little orange rust spots appearing sporadically through the white paint all over.i would like this looked at please.

Previously, there was a recall for under body rust.i had that fixed.however, the rust problem extends to the paint job and little orange dots of rust have been on the vehicle in many places.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. Whether the vehicle was stationary or driving various speeds, the traction control indicator illuminated. In addition, the brake lights did not illuminate when prompted. Furthermore, upon depressing the brake pedal to shift out of the park position, the shift lock release had to be engaged in order to shift out of the park position. A dealer was not made aware of the failures. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Driving up mountain road, heard a ā€˜popā€™ and smelled smoke-like chemical odor.lost control of steering and battery icon came on. Was able to get into a turn out and exited the car. Saw orange flames under engine. No cell service in this are so flagged down a passing car who called 911. Fire truck came and put out the flames that had already engulfed and burned the car.

I didn't get the recall for the brakes in 2018 radio just went out last year for no reason window on passenger just stopped working

My son was driving home and was going about 55 mph on ar hwy 62. The road narrows down from two lane to one right by a bluff when the motor without warning, threw a rod in the middle of the highway and shattered the engine. Absolutely no where to pull over. He was very lucky not to be hit as he couldn't give any notice to the vehicles behind him. We always made sure to change the oil and make sure everything was in top notch. Come to find out the oil wasn't making it to the engine. Kia should include this in their recall as their other engines have had major engine failures on the same engine in other vehicles. What would be even better is if they replaced it because another engine would do the same thing. Since this engine is in pieces now! unfortunately i it's not even fully paid for. It has since become a $10,000 yard ornament. So thankful nobody was hurt but kia should be held responsible. I'm sure we are not the only ones who have had this happen.

A humming sound / and vibration is coming from engine compartment & does not coincide with engine rpm. Faster the speed the louder it gets the loudest @ 45mph. Sound is like a small motorcycle it's next to you. Have already rotated/balanced tires & didn't help. It is almost a transmission whine but it doesn't change w/ shifting or when in neutral

Nov 7 2016 was stopped at a light on a main street with two car lengths between me and person in front, due to the heavy volume of traffic. I was hit in the rear, end by an suv, then slammed into the car in front of me,and sent back again and slammed the car that initially hit me. My air bags did notdeploy. Was seriously injured in crash with long term effects.

I previous report number 11384011, pictures uploaded: driving to repair location on freeway and the car starting smoking and burst into flame from the engine. Managed to stop and got out of the burning car. I immediately called fire service who came and stop the burning. Car towed to kia dealership facility. *ln *as

The nhtsa website says i have a recall under my vin numberbut when i go to the kia website and enter it for service it says no recall found, so i can not have it repaired.

Had phone charging and a gps system to travel ,directions.3/4 of the way both stopped working 100%.never were charged either.then at the place needed to go ,overnight the battery must have died as the clock and radio were reset to 12:00 etc... The usb and round chargers still did not work.battery was checked and was perfect.do not know what caused all this mess.terrible when needed it all.this happen when in motion but then stationary still nothing.

After i have been driving my car for about ten minutes, it starts to make a metallic popping sound. It is more noticeable when i am driving under 30 mph or when i am coming to a stop. I have been unable to identify the source of the sound and i am concerned that it is related to the engine.

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. During cold weather conditions, the vehicle failed to exceed 2000 rpms. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. The vin was not available.

When driving on freeway atflow of traffic motor shuts down at high speed and on the highways.

Driving in a shopping center parking lot. Made a right turn into an alley. Vehicle then rapidly accelerated through the alley and then smashed into a tree.can't remember if brakes were applied or not.it all happened very quickly. Kia forte was totaled and driver was hospitalized with extensive injuries (foot broken, hand broken, vertebrae damage) hospitalized approx. 5 days and nursing home approx. 10 days. Last visit to surgeon for smashed foot (to remove metal pins) was in april of 2013. Accident report on file with cape coral police (agency case number [xxx])information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving on a local street when i all of a sudden heard a loud noise come from above. Seconds later, i start hearing some rattling above me. When i am able to pull over, i open the cover to the sun roof and a piece of glass falls. I immediately close the cover again so no more glass can fall into the car. My sun roof imploded and broke everywhere. Thankfully i had the sun roof cover closed otherwise i would have been hurt. I read online that had happened to other people before but kia told me there was nothing wrong with the sun roof and something had to of fallen on the glass causing it break. I ended up having to pay my deductible.

Blinker lights, windshield wipers, air conditioner, heater,on the car constantly have to repair must be defective. As well as fuel issues with the car.

My sunroof spontaneously exploded.i checked and nothing hit it,just exploded.i almost got into an accident because of the loud explosion.

I was entering the freeway and there was a loud bang/explosion.i pulled off and started closing the sunroof when i noticed it was shattered and a large piece fell out.it was 58' with a smooth road and i was traveling about 50mph with no vehicles in front or to the side of me.the sunroof was open all the way at the time of the breakage.

Martin glass company (agrss registered) replaced a factory installed windshield on 04/18/2012.our technician was able to push most of the windshield out without having to cut the urethane bead.the urethane bead pulled right off the windshield, and was only adhered to about 1/3 of the windshield perimeter.this vehicle was not involved in an accident, but had it been, the windshield would not have remained intact.the safety of the vehicle occupants due to this factory installed improper installation was compromised.

Slow to stop when coming off the highway slowing down

The contact owns a 2012 kia forte. While driving 40 mph, both rear wheel bolts fractured in half. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the bolts were corroded. The vehicle was repaired by the independent mechanic. On a different occasion, while driving at an unknown speed, the front driver side wheel detached. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for the second time where it was diagnosed that the studs were corroded. The wheel on the driver's side was replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 150,000.
