The contact suffered a cut to the head, and injuries to the legs and hip. Medical attention was required. Police report number: 1820224 was filed. In july of 2016, i was in rush hour traffic on the 495 beltway and had to slam on my brakes at one point from hitting the person in front of me. I was hit from behind at approximately 40mph and then pushed into the car in front of me. The airbags did not deploy. The car had a lot of damage and i had the car repaired. Prior to that accident, the airbag light had come on twice over the previous year and the dealership just reset it when i brought it in for an oil change. The light is on again and they want to charge me to run a diagnostic and have it fixed. I am in virginia and cannot have the car pass inspection with the light on. I'm furious at the dealership and kia!

I was hit from behind in my 2011 kia forte at 70 mph while i was at a complete stop. My brakes did not work at all for me to stop on the road before i was pushed into an 8ft deep ditch, into big branches and my car then bounced through a huge field. My air bags did not deploy as they should have, the front of my car is dented in from the impact of the ditch and then the seatbeat did not lock up, it threw me into the steering wheel. I am very unhappy about this. This is the 3rd time i have personally heard about the airbags not deploying in a kia and the seat belt not locking up.

Traveling 45 to 55 mph ran into four large deers and ran off road. Damage front of car. Air bag light came on but did not flate.i substain severe shoulder injury.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The vin was not available.

My airbags failed to deploy when a habitual drunk driver hit us head-on 7/11/2013. I had a false sense of security that my airbags would keep me safe. I have required 8 surgeries to mend my brokenness, including a complete hysterectomy, bilateral sacroiliac joint fusions and total knee replacement.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that while sitting at a complete stop, another vehicle traveling 60 mph crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The impact caused the contact's vehicle to be pushed forward at approximately two hundred feet and into the rear of another vehicle. The driver's side head rest and metal bar became separated upon impact. The contact suffered from whiplash, neck strains, and lacerations to the lower back and right leg. A police report was filed. In addition, the driver and passenger's side air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 35,000.

In april 2016 my wife was involved in an accident which totaled our kia forte 2011. The air bags failed to deploy following the accident i spent endless weeks with various representatives from kia expressing my concern. I see the recall has taken place but almost 2 years later and after people have died. I am appalled, i was told that my vehicle did as it was supposed to and that air bags dont always deploy. Kia corporate was aware there was an issue. My wife did not die but obviously from the enclosed pictures there was damage done. My wife was hit from behind and then thrown into oncoming traffic at which time the drivers door flew open yet no air bag deployed to protect her. People need to be held accountable these deaths could have been averted.

In a multi hit car accident, initial 30 mph front end, then 20 mph rear hit. Seat belts did not lock, airbag did not deploy.

Takata recall: i was involved in a not at fault side impact car accident in which the air bags did not deploy, and i was injured and am currently seeking medical attention.

I was involved in a head-on collision in which i was only traveling 20 mph. Both the front driver airbag and the driver's side curtain airbag both deployed. After the accident, i realized that the seat behind me had unlatched and my son's booster car seat was thrown from its place. Needless to say, he wasn't buckled in; he was at school. Nevertheless, i think that this malfunction could have potentially seriously hurt my son. The car was deemed at total loss and i will not purchase this vehicle again.

Took my 2011 kia forte into the kia dealership today because the engine is making a ticking sound. I have had two other mechanics in recent weeks tell me it is a serious problem with the lifters and/or the pistons inside the engine. The kia mechanic refuses to acknowledge there is a ticking sound, but in formed me the air bag sensor is malfunctioning and i will have to pay $1100 to have the air bag sensor repaired before i can sell the car. Also, my brakes will occasionally make a very loud 'thump'when i apply them, but the kia dealer can find nothing wrong with them.

I had a false sense of security& safety behind the wheel of my 2011 kia forte when i was suddenly facing a habitual drunk driver, creaming us head-on and my airbags fato deploy. I have undergone 8 surgeries to try to repair my broken body. I lost my female reproductive organs because my airbags failed me. Is there a monetary value to kia's responsibility?

Had front collision air bag deployment issue recall notice letter from kia i never received a follow up notice to fix.

I received a safety recall for my kia forte 2011 for the seatbelts and airbags. I do not wish to put my safety at risk. I have to drive to work everyday and have been unable to use my car. I really wish kia would give me a rental car. With my kia, i have noticed that i put my seatbelt on and suddenly it becomes unbuckled as if it was released. This happened often before i became aware of the recall. This happened when the car was stationary after i turned it on. I do not wish to be in an accident and then the seatbelt and/or airbag don't work. Please something has to be done. I have been waiting almost 60 days waiting for a remedy. Kia doesn't want to help in other ways! i need a rental car that is the least they can do!

Takata recall. We were taking off from a stop light when we were rear ended on 4/2/18. The driver was going anywhere between 50-70 mph. My air bags never inflated causing alot of injuries. My driver head rest was ejected causing injury to my daughters face.

Took car into dealership for recall sc165.was told that the recall doesn't account for removing/reading the airbag sensors.the estimate to read the codes is $150 that can then go to cost of repairs.why wouldn't a recall on the airbag system include reading the senors and ensuring they are working properly?

Took vehicle to dealer to correct recall issue (18v363).completed the work and said it was fixed.my airbag light remains "on".interim notice on recall mentioned if airbag warning light comes on and remains illuminated to take to dealer.i believe, because of this, that the two are related and the repair should lead to the airbag light going out.i was told it would be $200 to correct it with a new seatbelt buckle assembly.is the airbag light remaining illuminated related to safety recall 18v363?

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags). I was hit head-on at 65mph and my airbags failed to deploy. It has caused me horrible injuries including a cervical neck fusion, bilateral sacroiliac joint fusions, necessity of a total hysterectomy due to my uterus & felopian tubes perforating, gastric adhesions and a total knee replacement. I hold kia responsible. I had confidence that i would be safe in my 2011 kia forte. I lost my very essence of being a woman because my airbags failed after being clobbered head-on by a full-size pick-up truck. Most frustrating is the constant pain and suffering, added to my already a 100% disabled navy veteran.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. While the vehicle was stationary, the contact noticed that the rear passenger side and middle seat belts failed to retract and/or latch when prompted. Upon several attempts to extend the rear passenger side and middle seat belts for latching purposes, the seat belts made a loud clunking noise that sounded from the rear buckle assembly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I got into an auto accident a year ago and the airbags did not deploy but the vehicle was considered a total loss. I discovered that my vehicle was still drivable because i can't afford another one. Well just the other day my inside dash lights and brake lights , well basically all lights started flashing in and out. Made the car break down in the middle of the road. I bought a new battery. New fuel pump, checked starter and alternator. All of those are functioning properly. But my car is still broke down on the side of the road.

Other air bag recall.the vehicle was in motion and was struck by another vehicle that traveled left of the centerline on a two lane roadway.the vehicles were involved in an off-set, head-on collision.the driver air bag and driver seat belt pretensioner failed to deploy / activate during the severe frontal impact.the driver sustained fatal injury.

I was in a head on collision where the airbags did not deploy. My vehicle was in motion and hit another vehicle that then landed on my front windshield and top of my car causing it to be totaled. Car would not come out of park.i had no idea at the time what the issue could be because in the kia owners manual it does not state that once the brake lights go out, you can not take it out of park.car would not go into gear until i used the shift lock release to take it out of gear. Drove it home and found a blown fuze (brake light fuse) .. Replaced it and drove fine (while it was doing this the electrical suspension light came on also).fast forward 7 days, was driving out of town and the suspension light came on while driving down the expressway and i knew then the issue was back.sure enough.had to take it to a kia dealership out of town .. They replaced my fuze, brake light bulb and brake light assembly switch.fast forward a week and a half and the problem is back ... Kia is telling me over $1000 and i'm not going to be guaranteed that this will fix the problem.i'm a single mother and purchased this car because i felt it would be a safe car for me and my son and now i'm stuck with a car that is not safe... No brake lights are seriously not safe at all!!!

Engine issues! this engine needs to be recalled for safety reasons and possible lemon. My car has only 106,890 miles on it. The engine started making a tapping noise. Then i started to have a loss of power when accelerating or going up hill. Had the codes read and it said the crankshaft position sensor. Replaced that. Then it started to idle rough. Had code read again. It said map sensor and number 2 cylinder misfire. Replaced plugs, coils, and map sensor. Now it won't start. It has no spark. Now it is showing codes for map sensor again. Number 2 cylinder misfire, throttle actuator control sensor and the power train control module. At just over 100,000 miles this should not be happening. Other model cars with the same 2.0 engine have been recalled. The 2.0 engine needs to also be recalled in the 2011 kia forte koup ex. I'm not the only owner of this model car that has had multiple issues and or total engine failure.

The brake light bulbs are burning our very 3 weeks with the plastic bulb connector getting very , very hot.

My engine caught fire and the electrical wires were burned

I keep replacing light bulbs and the part where u introduce the light bulbs is melting. I was told to check for recall on these. Thanks. I bought this car used from a dealer 1 yr ago and had replaced like 4 bulbs within a year.

Brake light illuminates when car is off, i have to push up on brake pedal to turn it off. While driving it seems like the brake engages causing the car to lose power, i have to step off the gas, and reapply and sometimes it still feels like the brake is still engaged. This issue does happen at least 3 times daily. Pushing up on the brake pedal does get it to stop until i have to brake. While driving my traction control light will illuminate. I have replaced the brake light switch twice in 2021, thinking this would fix the issue and it does not. Has been an ongoing issue for the past couple months

When you start the car while in park the locks on their own will lock and unlock repeatedly. If you start the car and put it in drive the locks will on their own again lock and unlock 7-8 times on their own. Since this issue the key set will not lock or unlock the door. Kia motors can't find the issue and has done nothing to fix it.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at 30 mph, there was smoke coming from the passenger's side window. The contact's daughter got out of the vehicle and saw a red fluid underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was left at the side of the road. The vehicle was not towed or taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v070000 (power train), however the part to do the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-333-4542. The manufacturer stated that the vin was part of the recall. A case number: 12391153 was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Takata recall car starting smoking while driving on the highway.after the car was turned off smoke increased fire initiated in car on the left side(driver side) in the corner underneath windshield. Entire car engulfed in flames.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the electronic stability control light illuminated on the instrument panel as she heard a loud noise. The vehicle began to decelerate because the brakes engaged when the electronic stability control activated. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. Esc light flashing numerous times with loss of power while on dry, straight road.vehicle in for repairs found a connection and electrical problem.did not fix problem. Had kia tech in and certified the vehicle as safe. This was in september and october 2015. The same indications and power loss occurred again in august and september 2016.in every case it happened in traffic causing an unsafe and dangerous situation for me my family and the other vehicles in the traffic.to date the dealer or kia has found the problem.the car was in motion (50 mph or less) city streets or road and not turning, in moderate to heavy traffic.

Around 85,000 miles on a 2011 kia forte koup the engine started ticking and became more pronounced. Brought it to a mechanic and they told me to bring to kia because so many were being recalled. It's rod bearing. I've had all necessary oil changes and work done to it throughout the years.

The engine has been making a ticking clicking sound when at idle and while driving slowly for a couple of months now. Not sure if it goes away at high speeds or becuase of the poor noise proofing of the car that drowns out the sound. Anyway i started looking online to see if people had the same issue. They did and costing anywhere from 5000 to 7000 for the engine to be replaced because of "piston, rod knocking issues". Furthermore, i've learned that kia has recalled the engines in several of their other models. This recall was put into place because the engines are "stalling" and posing a safety hazard. This car can not be driven until the engine is replace. My research seems to tell me that this model line should be added to the recall list before people get injured. Seems like the same issues as the engines with the recall are having.

The engine is making a loud ticking sound so i brought it to the dealer that i purchased it from 11 months earlier. They told me the engine needs to be replaced and it will cost about $7,000. I paid $9,000 for the car 11 months ago and it only has 77,000 miles on it. I've learned through some extensive research that kia has recalled the engines in several of their other models. This recall was put into place because the engines are "stalling" and posing a safety hazzard. This car can not be driven until the engine is replace. Allscheduled maintenance has been performed and the engine still gave out at only 77,000 miles. The dealer is berlin city in gorham, nh. The r.o. Print out of codes and issues with the engine is half a page long and includes blue smoke from exhaust, missfiring on two cylinders, knocking, flashing "check engine light", leaking head gasket, etc.my research seems to tell me that this model line should be added to the recall list. Seems like the same issues as the engines with the recall are having.

Hi i believe u should have a recall on the engines for an example when i look up the timing change its says most had to replace then the piston slop is knocking and it seems like most had to replace that. I have been looking for a rebuild kit for my kia and would like to just rebuild it myself but can't seem to find a 2.0 rebuild kit for a 2011 forte ex online... Why is that?

2011 kia forte. Consumer writes in regards to illuminated check engine light. *ldthe consumer was concerned that th intake manifold would cause a fire.

Bought the car from a small dealership and it had a ticking in the engine. They informed me it was from sitting. The ticking got worse and i took it to a kia dealership and was informed that i'd need a whole new engine.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that the oil indicator light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to conclusively state what caused the failure. After leaving, within less than a mile the vehicle stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and was able to drive home. Vision kia of canandaigua 2445 rochester rd rte 332, canandaigua, ny 14424 (585) 394-4542 was contacted and the contact was informed there was no recall related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.

"a south korean whistleblower reported concerns last year to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), which will probe the timeliness of three recalls carried out in the united states and whether they covered enough vehicles."my 2008 kia optima (174000 miles) was recently diagnosed with similar issues by a kia dealer (the engine bearings failed according to the tech., with metal in the oil filter)the sound it makes is also heard, though less obvious when dry starting my 2011 kia forte.please look into including both of these carsin the recall.it seems that there is a design flaw.,ps: i regularly change the oil 3-4000 miles on both cars,. Refer to article:https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/abb24d07-a29f-3a32-a689-dfb220b11f54/ss_feds-open-investigation-into.html

After owning my 2011 kia forte for the last 6 years it has developed a ticking sound in the engine. It is very mild while idling, and while rpms are under 1500. After rpms go past 2000 the ticking noise is progressively louder. When i bought the car it had roughly 85,000 miles on it and now has $125,000. I have had regular oil changes on it, every 3000-5000 miles. After hearing the ticking i took it in to my mechanic who said this is a regular occurrence with kia fortes and that the only fix is replacing or repairing the engine. I have been doing a lot of research and reading a lot of complaints on this website about kia engines going bad around 100,000 miles and i believe you should look into kia for this. There needs to be a recall on kia's engines.

There is a constant knocking coming from the engine and loud noise when accelerating the engine.the check engine light is also turning on and off.2012-2015 kia forte koups have recently been recalled, but not the 2011 model.this car has the same theta 2 engine and the same problems.the engine is shot and will not last much longer.i sincerely hope the recall is extended to the 2011 model kia forte koup.

Driving down the freeway 70 mph loud clanking sound began and engine quit working, i coasted to the side of the highway and checked my fluids, all were at operating levels, there is a recall on the engine but not if it's in a forte.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine, the oil pressure warning indicator illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to shoals university kia (4109 n jackson hwy, sheffield, al 35660, (256) 978-1000) where it was diagnosed that the extension wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact was then informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

2011 kia forte.consumer writes in regards to intermittent acceleration problems.the consumer stated when he attempted to merge onto the highway, the engine would drop to an idle.on several occasions, the vehicle would jump forward, with the slightest touch of the accelerator. The consumer has since traded the vehicle.

Knocking from the engine started about 90,000 miles, maybe earlierall service done timely by dealership.kia dealership unable to hear anything unusual - states car's getting old (7 yr).knocking when car stationary and moving.knocking is getting much more pronounced.problem diagnosed as the same for so many kias - rod bearing. Car is spending a lot of time sitting in the drive - i don't believe it's safe for any trip - or for anyone. Recommended solution:new engine.why would i put a new engine in a, now 9 year old car - so that i could keep a kia product.not happening!what is happening is me letting everyone know to stay away from any kia product!

At 120,000 miles a loud knocking noise began coming from the engine at engine start. It persists and sounds almost like an electric sewing machine - taka taka taka taka. The sound gets louder when i accelerate and decreases when i don't press the gas pedal. The noise decreases slightly when the engine is fully warmed up but it is still audible. I took it to a mechanic who specializes in engines, his diagnosis was "rod bearings need replacement" i have started searching for this issue online and became aware of safety recall sc147. Unfortunately this recall doesn't include the kia forte model. I saw in my research online that many other forte owners were having similar issues. In addition, my car's engine "theta ii" 2.0 liter appears to be the same engine that is included among the recalled models included in sc147. I am wondering why the kia forte is not included as it seems to be suffering from the same issue. Is this a question of accountability, or lack thereof on kia/hyundai's side.

The engine started knocking and having difficulty starting when the car only had about 70,000 miles on it. I have heard from other kia owners and mechanics this is a common problem and the engine could throw a rod.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that the engine stalled numerous times while driving various speeds.there were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to taylor kia of boardman (7870 market street, boardman, ohio 44512, (330)-295-2376) to be diagnosed, but no failure code was found. The dealer also test drove the vehicle, but was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was also taken to taylor kia of hermitage (1460 north hermitage road, hermitage, pa 16148, (724) 418-4999) to be diagnosed and test driven, but no failure could be found or duplicated. An independent mechanic replaced the throttle body sensor and the fuel economy sensor; however, the engine and sensor indicators illuminated after the repair. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: [xxx]. After numerous incidences of stalling while driving & failure of any warning lights or engine codes, the contact research the internet for similar problems with this the contact ask mechanic to replace the required entire sensor parts ofthrottle body. Following this repair the vehicle has not had a single stall incident. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000. *tp'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

In 2016, just a few months past the five year warranty, engine started making noise. $5k repair. Engine had broken engine bearing causing knock sound. Less than 50k miles. Many models that year recalled for engine problems, same model in surrounding years recalled for engine problems, only two remanufactured engines in country when i needed a replacement. This should've had a recall. It's a cover up by kia.

I was driving the car at roughly 65 mph on cruise control. All of a sudden there was a very loud bang, tachometer dropped to zero, oil started spraying all over from underneath car. I managed to coast the car to the side of the road and found a fist-sized hole in the engine block. Shards of metal and oil were all over the road, creating a hazard. Even though this issue is the same as other kia vehicles with the same 2.4l theta engine, according to kia, my vehicle's engine is not included in the recall of those engines. Kia claims that because the fuel system in my car is not "gdi", it is not included. Even though, by kia's own admission, the issue is due to crankshaft issues, which have nothing to do with the fuel system. My vehicle's engine and the recalled engines share the same crankshaft, and the same oem part number, even. Yet, somehow because the fuel system is not "gdi", my engine isn't included in the recall. Kia needs to do the right thing and include forte 2.4l non-gdi engines in the recall as well. My car has been sitting now for over a year waiting for an engine.

My mechanic diagnosed the problem as the rod bearing that's the cause and suggested i confirm the diagnosis with a kia dealership to see if kia would cover the cost. The kia dealership diagnosed the same problem, reached out to kia to discuss covering the costs, and kia told the dealership that they wouldn't. I was told either replace the engine which with parts and labor would be around $4,500-$5,000 or i could trade it in and get a few hundred for it.why on earth would i buy another kia if they're not even going to rectify the problem when it turns out to be an assembly defect to begin with. What's even more frustrating is that there is a engine recall on optimas and sportages within the same year as my forte but they don't feel the need to open up a recall.reading about it online there have been hundreds of complaints about the same (engine needs to be replaced) problem but kia still won't do a recall for forte models in the same year range. If kia won't do right by it's customers, i don't see the motivation in continuing to give them my business.

Car developed a knocking sound and check engine light came on. Took it to dealer to check out and they tell me need to replace motor. Also told me they are aware of problem with motor like mine. Apparently they have recalled same motors in different models but not the forte

Engine makes very loud knocking sound during first startup. Lots of other fortes during same problem please investigate

Engine is making a loud knocking noise, kia service refuses to be able to hear it as it is still under warranty. Recalls have been issued for the same issue in other kia models using the same engine.this is a common issue with these engines including the forte, which was not part of the recall. Action is being taken in canada by the apa, but not in the us. Details of the issue are documented here:http://tjl.quebec/en/class-action/kia-forte-problemes-de-moteur/

When driving straight along an interstate with my cruise control set to the speed limit, a loud bang came from under the hood of my kia, the check engine indicator turned on, and smoke began to pour out from under the hood and inside my car through the air vents. When i pushed the gas pedal gently, there was a low guttural noise and my car was not picking up speed. I put my car into neutral and coasted to the shoulder with low visibility as the smoke became more dense and darker in color. I brought my vehicle to a full stop on the shoulder and put it into park before turning it off and removing my key from the ignition. Upon exiting the car i noticed the smoke was even more intense than before and promptly called 911 and gave my location and situation information to the 911 representative. As i was speaking, i narrated in horror as flames became visible from under the car itself and under the hood as well, in as little as one minute after exiting my car. By the time the fire department got to the vehicle, the flames were over 20 feet tall and the heat was unbearable; i relocated myself farther and farther away to stay cool and safe as the time went on. Nobody was burned, hurt, or injured as a result of the incident, but only my mere coincidence.

My 2011 kia forte stalls randomly while i drive it. This has happened multiple times in multiple driving situations. Two incidents happened while i was in rush hour traffic on highway 805 south in san diego california. Another incident happened while i was crossing railroad tracks leaving the marriott hotel in downtown san diego (in this instance, i had to coast the car off of the tracks -fortunately no train was coming at that time).in describing my experiences in one of these incidents, i offer the following description: on june 6, 2016, while in rush hour traffic on highway 805in san diego california, the car just stalled. When pressing the accelerator, the motor would rev but there was no response. I had to shut the car off and restart it. Fortunately, i was able to get it started and drive to safety.please note that i have repeatedly brought the car to the local kia dealership in an attempt to solve the problem. They have been unable to solve the problem (yet they have charged me for services rendered).i filed my complaint with kia corporate consumer assistance. They have asked me to bring the car into the dealership for "escalated services" three different times.each time i think the car is repaired, then i experience another incident. The latest incident happened two weeks after my latest visit to the dealership. My wife was driving the car in downtown san diego on the night of july 8 2016. The car stalled again!my family and i feel like we are in constant danger driving this car. Yet, we need this car in conducting our family affairs. Kia corporate cannot solve this problem and we do not know how best to proceed. We feel that our safety is at stake and we are hoping that this situation can be resolved before any harm come to our family or to others experiencing similar problems. I can obtain repair documents, but i do not have them at this moment.

I have had a ticking noise coming from my engine for a while and just in the past 2 months the ticking has gotten much louder.the check engine light has come on and went off- i had to replace the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor.the ticking sound still continues -brought to kia thought it could possibly be internal engine failure starting to occur based on sound of engine but nothing definite.i have felt safe with this car but now not so sure. I have faithfully changed my oil every 3 months since i bought this car brand new in 2011.

Bad engine knocking/taping ,i have read a lot of complaints about the 2.0 and 2.4 kia/hyundai engines knocking/ tapping engine,my car has 97000 and sounds like diesel engine, bought used they refused to fix because the warranty says that i'm not the original owner ,something needs to be done about this ,they are a lots i means a lots of complaints about ,kia/huyndai needs to step up and do a recall for this major problem

The check engine light came on, i heard a sound like metal scraping metal, i was driving about 20mph going straight down s. Main st downtownwarrenton, oregon and was planning to pull over when suddenly my car stopped dead after a horrible noise of what sounded like a heavy metal snapping/crunching noise. I looked under the hood and everything looked ok, but some black fluid was dripping onto the ground. The oil had been changed about four days before this and they said it was 2.5 quarts low. I had also taken it to an auto repair shop to see if it needed any immediate attention as it was making an odd scraping noise before the oil was changed and he said he suggested some thing to do with the cam but it wasn't urgent and to just keep the oil filled in case there is a leak somewhere. The oil reservoir was full when i left that morning when it seized up. If i had been going much faster, i would probably have been killed as it stopped completely, no coasting to a stop. It just stopped. From 20mph to 0 and the car jumped when it stopped. I did not touch the brakes. It was towed to mark's auto repair in seaside, oregon. He has no idea what caused the problem but did say that metal flakes are in the oil and transmission fluid and other places too. He has a work order he is working up but said he would need to replace the engine at a minimum. They can only find short blocks for sale at this time and so the estimate is based on using a short block. My oil gets changed regularly either at kia or a local oil change shop.*dt

Kia forte 2.4l automatic 6 speed, check engine code p200a for intake runner issue -, apparently defective part was replaced by shop(warranty)but computer still reporting the code, dealer shop indicated kia motor has not available upgrade to correct the issue.concenr now, this issue may affect intake-exhaust-catalytic system if vehicle experience another issue, unable to detect due to a prior check engine status not cleared.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact noticed transmission fluid leaking from the radiator hose. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the hose needed to be replaced. The hose was replaced, but the vehicle failed the test drive. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission was damaged from lack of transmission fluid due to the faulty hose, and recommended that the transmission be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The transmission was not replaced. The failure mileage was 80,600.

The warning information is not correct on the spare tire on my 2011 kia forte. It's listed in kilometers per hour and kilometers on the warning sticker. There is no information for miles and miles per hour. The car was bought new in the united states, it should have the correct label information.

I keep having to replace fog lamps, brake lights and headlamps. The brake lights have to be replaced frequently.the component you plug the bulb into keeps getting hot and melting sometimes causing the bulb to break. I have replaced the brake lights 8 times within the last 6 months and the fog lamps 4 times in the last 6 months.

The brake light bulbs are burning our very 3 weeks with the plastic bulb connector getting very , very hot.

Brake light stay on all the time even when the car is shut off

Traveling 45 to 55 mph ran into four large deers and ran off road. Damage front of car. Air bag light came on but did not flate.i substain severe shoulder injury.

I keep replacing light bulbs and the part where u introduce the light bulbs is melting. I was told to check for recall on these. Thanks. I bought this car used from a dealer 1 yr ago and had replaced like 4 bulbs within a year.

Rearpassenger light consistently going out regardless of light replacement. Replaced light bulb numerous times and had harness replaced, problem still remained.now all rear lighting have stopped working while car is on.

Driving in a shopping center parking lot. Made a right turn into an alley. Vehicle then rapidly accelerated through the alley and then smashed into the tree.can't remember if brakes were applied or not.it all happened to quickly.kia forte was totaled and driver was hospitalized with extensive injuries (foot broken, hand was broken, vertibrae damage) hospitalized for approx. 5 days and nursing home for approx. 10 days.last visit to surgeon for smashed foot in 4/2013.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 to 45 mph, the vehicle lost power and the odometer read 40 mph. The vehicle would not accelerate or reverse. There were no warning lights illuminated during or after the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to have a diagnostic test performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 24,000.

Tran. Wentoutstill not working.

On 7/24 my 21 year old daughter was driving on a side street when the car began to accelerate on it's own. She applied the brakes (with both feet) and the car would not stop accelerating. She ended up colliding with a wall which disconnected the power and the car stopped about 50 feet from point of impact.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. While driving, the engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument cluster. Also, the vehicle shifted into gear roughly and the contact noticed an abnormal odor. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,220.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. While driving various speeds, the anti-skid warning indicator illuminated. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to southwest kia austin (13175 n, us -183, austin, tx 78750, 512-583-1900), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Was driving at normal highway speeds felt this sudden jerk (like i had been hit from behind) and the car would not go.when i got pulled over i placed it in park and then back into drive it would not pull forward.tried to put into the manual shift side and it would not do anything there either.

When going 60 on the highway the car suddenly dropped down to 40 and i had to pull off the highway. Car was then taken to the dealership where the whole transmission was replaced. Upon recieving the car again it would jerk and stall when accelerating. Car was then taken back to the dealer and a "relearn" of the transmission was performed. This has not stopped the problem and has made it worse. It now jerks when stopping and when accelerating and peeds of 5 mi/hr or more. As well as when first shifting the car out of park.

Car will not shifting correctly under manual.

Engine transmission improperly downshifts on its own for about a second before recovering. The car stalls at red lights; it stalls at times when driving at 5mph, causing immediate loss of power steering. No dtc codes shown when examined. No check engine light activated. The improper shifting of transmission gear is very scary because it feels like the car has slammed on the brakes for about a second before recovering the gear. My car is auto transmission. It's like accelerating from 40 to 70mph and expecting the gears to shift 4,5,6....but instead it's shifting by itself from 4,5, then to 3rd gear, and then recovering to the 6th gear. It is very very scary... I took it to kia and they recommended that i take it to aamco. They reset my transmission values to no effect. When these events occurr i have no cruise control. No dtc code has popped up. My car stalls at red lights, or when leaving my car on for about 30 seconds.

While driving and attempting to gain speed to enter the interstate highway in san antonio texas the transmission would not change gears andhad to pull over.i then had the vehicle towed to a kia dealership 10 miles away. I am awaiting a call from them regarding repairs.

I bought a 2011 kia forte and was having issues where the car seemed like it was dying after initial starting of the vehicle and sometimes wouldn't go into gear. After driving it seems to correct itself and i brought it into kia. They put it under a specific claim number incase the warranty went out it is still covered.a few months later the car started to not go into gear even more and issue of dying seems more prevalent. Now kia is trying to say it could be a number of things which are not covered because the warranty is up from factory, and the extended warranty they claim doesn't cover powertrain which last time i checked powertrain includes shifter/gear shifter.they are now refusing to fix the issue because they have no clue what the actual problem is but have seen the issue first hand. This car has less than 70,000 miles and 70% of the time you cant put it into gear. This is a major safety concern since it could pop into any gear it wanted to and if i am doing 70 mph and it decides to go into park it wont be a fun ride.

The contact owns a 2011 kia motor forte. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph the check engine light began to illuminate on the instrument panel and the vehicle would no longer accelerate further. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the transmission was replaced. Upon receiving the vehicle from the dealer, the contact stated that she could hear screeching noises coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 16,532. Updated 09/02/11*lj updated 2/9/12

Front passenger seat belts click as though they are connected properly, but the buckle does not stay connected and disconnects during normal use, stationary, in motion, turning or going straight.

In a multi hit car accident, initial 30 mph front end, then 20 mph rear hit. Seat belts did not lock, airbag did not deploy.

In addition, the air bag indicator illuminated without warning. Rosen kia milwaukee (5505 south 27th street, milwaukee, wisconsin 53221, (414) 282-9300) was made aware of the seat belt failures and stated that the warranty coverage had expired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that while reversing, the brakes failed to respond and the contact to crashed into a light post. The vehicle then accelerated forward and crashed into a building. A police report was filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Living only 3.7 miles from my work i drive to work 2 times daily, mon- fri, round trip. I come home for my lunch hour. Never being able to drive faster than 20-30 mph due to the roads & busyness of them during that time i had never had a problem before. I had noticed prior to my accident that at times my 6 speed 2011 kia forte koup was very resistant to put it into 1st gear. Almost as if it was locking the shifter out. Having it looked at by a kia dealership, they claimed it was just "user error"...perhaps my foot wasn't pressed all the way down on the clutch or b/c i'm a woman? this was not my first manual car! so as i left my house for work after lunch i noticed that every time i upshifted my car did this jerking thing, almost as if the brakes were working when they shouldn't have been. I told myself when i get to work (in 8 mins) i would call my brother who is a mechanic. I didn't get my car to work safely. I ended up rear ending a truck who rolled forward into a new camaro, everyone was ok thank god! as i approached the stop light w/3 cars stopped at the red light already. I proceeded to slow down .3 miles from the light & it seemed as if it was slowing down in slow motion. When i realized my brakes weren't actually slowing the car down from 28mph, i did everything i could to stop by car before crashing. I tried down shifting as well as slamming down on the brakes. It was as if my brakes were non existent. If i had time left i would have yanked up on the e brake...i was only 1.2 miles from my work! no airbags went off nor was my car totaled. I paid cash for this car in 2011 & since having wrecked i've felt it was not safe for my family to drive. After fixing the repairs & paying my deductible i traded the car in. I purchased a brand new car which i now have a car payment on. I hope that this issue can be discovered & resolved before it hurts anyone severely.

Brake line burst near center of car while traveling on highway. Maintained enough brake pressure to come to a safe stop. Investigation revealed excessive rusting of brake lines running from front to rear of vehicle, particularly at contact points with each restraint.

Brake light stay on all the time even when the car is shut off

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact heard a noise from the steering wheel column. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnosed that the steering wheel column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. Updated 01/04/17*lj

When turning the steering wheel, there is a clicking noise and a slight looseness to it. Also at some speeds or on bumpier roads, there is a vibration, which is not due to any other mechanical issues since i have had it looked at. Upon calling the dealer, they explained that it is the same steering coupling problem they are having with the optima, but there is no recall on the kia forte. The part is less than $5.00, but the labor is $440 because it takes 4 hours to replace a rubber coupling. This problem should be covered as it is with the optima, since it is the same issue.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. While driving at various speeds and making a left turn, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and continued to drive straight although the steering wheel was turned to the left. The contact indicated once the steering wheel was turned back to the right, the steering would operate as normal. The contact indicated that the failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.updated 8/21/15 updated 10/12/2017

My son was driving the car at the time and the steering locked up on him taking him to the left and he had to jerk it back very hard to unlock it to stay on the road, thank goodness there was no on coming traffic. This has happened several times and it also locks when put in park and i can't get it to start or get steering wheel to move.

Traveling 45 to 55 mph ran into four large deers and ran off road. Damage front of car. Air bag light came on but did not flate.i substain severe shoulder injury.

I was in motion, turning left from 13th street norfolk ne, into the grocery store parking lot, when another vehicle crashed into my drivers side and rear door directly in the middle. My drivers side door was unable to open, and the frame between both door was dented in.*dt

Had front collision air bag deployment issue recall notice letter from kia i never received a follow up notice to fix.

My mother purchased a new kia forte a few days ago. Came home from food shopping opened the trunk to take out her groceries. She bent over reached in the trunk to remove a bag and the trunk slammed down on the back of her neck causing severe bruising. I went over tosee what was wrong . The car was parked in the middle of the driveway and when i raised the trunk and let go it slammed down. I was with her when she purchased the vehicle and the trunk stayed open by itself . We could not find any visible reason why this had happened. I then moved the vehicle up and parked it under the carport and was going to take out the rest of the groceries. The trunk stayed open this time and did not slam shut by itself. The difference was that now the car was parked on a level surface, before it was parked on a slight incline in the driveway. This is a real safety issue and should not happen. My mother is 85 years old and small in stature.. I wanted to make sure she purchased a car that she felt comfortableand safe in.i never thought thatwe needed to be concerned about an injury occurring while the car was parked in the driveway. Her doctor was not available and she did not want to go to the emergency room. I took photographs of the bruising and swelling on her neck and she has had a headache and pain. She will see her doctor on monday, and i will take the vehicle back to the dealer to have it examined. She is lucky that the trunk didn't slam on her head and kill her. I do hope this will be investigated and that no one else will be injured.

The following situation has happened three times - once a few years ago, and again twice today (8/17/2021); when driving through standing water (estimated depth of 1 to 3 inches) like accumulates with moderate to heavy rain, the vehicle instrument panel displayed a low-battery alert and the power steering became inoperable. This lasted only about 3 to 5 seconds before returning to normal - but during those few seconds the car becomes extremely difficult to steer. This is a situation that could cause an accident. The rate of speed when this happened was low (approximately 20 mph one of the times - and barely moving (less than 5 mph) the other two times while entering intersections from a standstill). Fortunately this has not caused any accidents - but it needs to be investigated.

Problem began 2/14/2011 (purchase) and continues.there has been a problem with these high frequency sensors as noted on a sheet dated 9/22/08 provided by the kia engineer.these devices are prone to set off the high frequency sensors which gives me a false reading.with this being the case, then why are these high frequency sensors installed in vehicles?my sensors are like the little boy who cries wolf.when they illuminate repeatedly on and off, i just ignore the light and wait until i turn off the car or wait it outwhichever turns off the light first.the sensors are not fully functional because since they are so sensitive to radio frequency waves as stated by the kia engineers, then nhtsa has the obligation to have kia remove and replace with sensors that are not sensitive (as similar to my ford focus which illuminated and went off when air was put in the tire(s)).otherwise, having malfunctioning sensors and under-inflation of tires can reduce vehicle safety, reduce tread life of tires and reduce fuel economy which defeats the main purpose of a sensor.from the 9/22/08 info sheet: pitstop: outside radio frequency (rf) affecting tpms operation kma has received several inquiries regarding the tpms light on with or without stored diagnostic trouble codes in memory.the following listed components/conditions may cause the control unit and wheel sensor communication to be interrupted and may cause multiple dtcs. My air conditioning clutch pulley assembly has a failing bearing that makes a whining noise.the assembly is separate from the a/c compressor.i'm afraid the bearing will eventually seize and cause the pulley to freeze, which will thus cause my serpentine belt to rupture and potentially cause damage to my car while driving.i think this is a potential safety hazard that kia should fix as it seems to be common on my make model and year.

On 3/31/2018 at 10:00 ammy wife's sunroof on her 2011 kia forte exploded while she was driving down the highway. She was not trying to open the sunroof and the sunroof cover was closed. There was not a car directly in front of her, and the weather was 70 degrees and sunny. There was no fluctuation in temperature from the day before. There is no reason why it exploded. She was startled but not injured by the incident.

Takata recall car starting smoking while driving on the highway.after the car was turned off smoke increased fire initiated in car on the left side(driver side) in the corner underneath windshield. Entire car engulfed in flames.

Kia forte 2011,accelerated on its own,and cause me to hit the car in front of me,kept accelerated, until i shut the engine off. Went from 30 mph to 50 mph,and totaled my car. I was in motion on a city street, when the incident occurred. No warning,no engine light, and it never happened before.

The contact owns a 2011 kia forte. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at 30 mph, there was smoke coming from the passenger's side window. The contact also stated that when the daughter applied the accelerator pedal, it failed to function and the vehicle gradually stopped completely.

When pulling into the garage to park the car, i put my foot on the brake to slow/stop.the car exellerated violently and the car crashed into some stored items at the back wall.i instinctively stomped harder on the brake and turned the key off.this is the first time i have had this happen - thank goodness i wasn't out in traffic or pointed out my driveway, since that is a 60 foot plunge to the lake!the front bumper was damaged and requires replacement - won't know what other damage was done internally until the repair is completed. I see online that this has been an ongoing issue with other kia forte owners, but kia has not been required to do a recall "since they cannot re-create the circumstances".please investigate further before someone dies.

On 7/24 my 21 year old daughter was driving on a side street when the car began to accelerate on it's own. She applied the brakes (with both feet) and the car would not stop accelerating. She ended up colliding with a wall which disconnected the power and the car stopped about 50 feet from point of impact.

The air conditioning system (a/c) is creating mold in the vehicle. Kia will not repair and has refused to address the problem.the vehicle developed a very strong odor while running the a/c and was taken to the dealer for repair. Both the dealer and kia motors, usa have done nothing to address the mold issue. Both aspergillius/penicillium and stachybotrys/memnoiella were found in greater abundance in the interior air sample than in the exterior air sample. The environmental company performing the test recommended that "the duct system in the vehicle needs to be treated with a fungicide to kill existing mold spores and help prevent new mold growth." the test results were share with kia motors of america, irvine california, and no corrective measures or repairs have been conducted by kia.i have idled the vehicle and it is no longer in use since my daughter developed serious headaches while operating the vehicle with the a/c on. I had to purchase another vehicle and the kia is just sitting in front of my home since it is not drive able.this is a serious health and safety issue and i cannot get any action from kia to resolve this issue. Mold is not an issue just in the home as we have found in this situation.the kia technicians working on these vehicles are inhaling mold, and owners driving these vehicles are also inhaling mold. Granted, it is not a mechanical issue, but it does impact the safety and health of drivers operating a vehicle with mold in et a/c system. A mechanic has suggested that the evaporator core in these vehicles may be defective, or a design defect allows moisture to accumulate in the a/c system and develop mold.thank you,

The warning information is not correct on the spare tire on my 2011 kia forte. It's listed in kilometers per hour and kilometers on the warning sticker. There is no information for miles and miles per hour. The car was bought new in the united states, it should have the correct label information.
