I am not the owner of the above vehicle just a certified fire investigator iaai-cfi.on october 31, 2011 i was assigned the task of doing an origin and cause investigation into the fire of the above vehicle that was sitting for sale on the overflow lot of rhim truck sales st paul, mn.my investigation led me to the wire harness/computer control box as the origin of the fire.i had been informed that the truck was previously owned by a cattle company parked in a rural setting and was exposed to rodent activity.how ever i was discussing this incident with another fire investigator from florida who stated that he had just investigated a similar fire in a peterbuilt but that vehicle was not parked in a rural setting but did have around 500,000 on its odometer as well both vehicles are manufactured by paccarboth vehicles were parked and their engines were not operating prior to or during the fire.in the vehicle fire that i investigated, the vehicle had been sitting in the lot for a couple of weeks untouched prior to the fire.this incident may notrise to the level of a recall, but i am concerned that if this does not at least get reported to you some drivers may be seriously injured or killed if their vehicles catch on fire while they are asleep in their sleepers.
