On my wife's 2009 kawasaki kl250g9 super sherpa motorcycle, the shift lever on the transmission fell off within 100 miles after purchasing...i am owner/moderator of a kl250g9 group with 700 members,,,and have reports of almost a dozen other 2009 super sherpa owners with the same problem...luckily my shifter was found on the side of the road and not in somebody's windshield causing a wreck..my wife was riding this bike when the shifter fell off,,she also panicked and almost wrecked when she tried to stop as she had no way to down shift the motorcycle..this is a street legal motorcycle,,the shifter may look like its installed,,but it is not installed all the way on as the bolt that holds the shifter on is not in the proper groove to hold it onto the shaft of the transmission.(the shaft has a groove the bolt goes in).....the part number for this shifter is kawasaki#13242-1344(lever-assy-change,pedal)the bolt is part#132bd0620(bolt-flanged-small,6x20) i also went back to my dealer and seen another super sherpa on his showroom floor with the same problem,,'shifter not installed properly',,again, this shifter looks like it is on the shaft of the transmission,,but the bolt that holds it on,,is not in the groove and will work its way off in a few hundred mile or less and can cause damage or injury to the rider or bystander..i myself, have told everybody on my super sherpa group about the shift lever problem on the 2009 super sherpa bike to loosen their bolt,,remove bolt and push the shift level all the way on the shaft,,then re-install the bolt and torque,,,,.please advise,,
