Takata recall (s43 / nhtsa 16v-352): i have been waiting several months for a replacement passenger side air bag inflator replacement and get no answers other than no parts are available. What action is the nhtsa taking against chrysler/jeep/mopar and takata on this? this is ridiculous that i am told that i should not have a passenger as this thing can fail.is there any legal recourse than can be taken?[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Air bag light/chime began illuminating frequently (approximately once every few minutes) throughout the course of every drive, regardless of distance or speed.i took vehicle to dealer for inspection where it was determined the clock spring was defective.part was replaced under a consumer purchased extended warranty.

The vehicle's airbag light illuminates when the steering wheel is turning. The clock spring is defective. There has been a recall on this part andi am not sure why my vin number is not being chosen for the recall when it has the same symptoms as all the vehicles that are recalled.i am nervous to wait for it to possibly get recalled in case i am in an accident.

Takata recalli am filing a complaint because it is appalling that such a dangerous situation created by the failure of airbags and involving a recall actually has no solution and has no timeline for when a solution will be available, this is incredibly serious and important, yet there is no solution.you have got to be kidding.my jeep wrangler unlimited is part of this enormous, ineffective recall, and my family and i ride in this vehicle on a regular basis.this is absolutely unacceptable, and the manufacturers are clearly and terribly failing their responsibility to consumers.

On my 09 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag light and chime come on and off during my daily comute an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicles aibags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008 jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2008 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. At first my horn stop working (also caused by a faulty clockspring) and didn't think much of it,but i had to look into this matter a little deeper when my airbag light came on.

On the 2009 jeep wrangler jk dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on and chimes randomly (no specific time or activity caused), an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many jeep wrangler owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. Air bag warning light stays on, make a turn it goes out then comes back on and chimes in less than 60 seconds.this i found is a bad clockspring, and a very common issue.chrysler has a recall for rhd only. They need to include lhdits a safety issue airbags...will not inflate when light on.

Left hand drive 2009 jeep wrangler rubiconthe airbag warning light and chime keeps coming on about minute goes out for about 5 minutes. Looking at several forum, edmunds, motor trend web sites, this seems to be a problem that chrysler wont accept the problem with left hand drive vehicles, but they have issued a recall for right hand drive.they need to address this issue, its a safety concern, are they going to wait for major law suits to happen.please please push this issue .

Airbag light goes on/off while driving. Does not matter if turning, accelerating, etc. Reading prior threads, it looks like the clock spring under the horn is the issue. Concerned the airbag will not deploy if involved in a crash, and the light is on.

Transmission overheats when driving uphill even in the snow. (needs a tranny cooler). Air bag sensor failed. Not covered but same part failed in 2007 and is covered by warranty.

The airbag light actuated and upon further research i have found that it is symptomatic with the clock spring in the steering column.i contacted a dealership and chrysler with no resolution.there is a recall out for the clock spring in 2008-2012 models but it is in a limited lot number.the airbag light is intermittent and only when the steering wheel is rotated.

While operating my 2009 jeep wrangler first my cruise control failed and now will not function, then my air bag light came on. Now the air bag light keeps going on and off with a chime. Looked it up online only to find i'm not the only one with this issue, it seems very frequent and to have recalled several other keeps with the same problem, chrysler needs to properly address the issue and recall all the keeps with this problem.

I had to have the jeep sealer in bakersfield, ca. Replace the clock spring to correct the problem. This cost me $569.43 and i feel it should have been a recall.

Air bag light remains on, therefore the air bag may not deploy as intended in an accident. This is a known problem with the 'clock spring' as jeep is recalling certain model years and not others - jeep needs to recall and fix this safety issue on all jeep models, not just a select few.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics who were unable to diagnose the failure and recommended that the contact take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The dealer diagnosed that there was a defective squib connector, which was open and needed to be replaced within the front passenger side seat. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v118000 (air bags and electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.ma 10/15/2015updated 11/15/2017

Manufacturer jeep and my local dealership are aware of the safety recall on my vehicle. I have been trying get the issue taken care of for over 6 months now, and jeep and the local dealership (anchorage chrysler center) refuse to fix the safety issue. I brought in my jeep to the local dealership for a scheduled recall fix. They said they couldn't fix it at that time because they needed to order a part they weren't aware the recall required. They informed me the part would arrive in about 4 days and they contact me. That was over two months ago. They haven't contacted me and on the rare instances i get a hold of them they just say they need to order the part every time. So they have never ordered the part and clearly have no intention of doing so. I have been driving an unsafe vehicle for over a year now because of jeep and it's dealerships unwillingness to fulfill their legal obligations.

I have not been in an accident yet, but a year ago i started having electrical issues inside the steering wheel of my 2009 jeep wrangler.i was told it is called the clock spring.with a bad clock spring, my horn and cruise control does not work, and also my air bag light is always on.if i were to get into an accident i do not feel safe knowing my air bags are not working properly.also, with a bad clock spring there are chances of my air bag activating randomly for no reason so that really worries me.i have almost been wrecked into several times and i am not able to honk my horn.when i took it to the local dealership, i was basically told that it has been a very common problem in 2008-2012 jk jeep wranglers but they did not have the part to fix it.i figured there would be a recall for it since it is such a common problem, but only the right hand drive jeep wranglers had a clock spring recall. I believe the recall number for those are m31 and l37.i don't understand why the left hand drive 2009 jk jeep wranglers are excluded from this recall.this is very hazardous and i feel unsafe knowing my air bags may not work and also knowing i could potentially cause an accident if my air bags go off randomly.not only that, but i know more jeeps like mine that are driving around with the same problem. I would really appreciate it if this issue could be looked into.thank you for your time.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v352000 (air bags) and 16v29000 (air bags); however, the contact was unable to get the recall remedied due to the dealer's refusal. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The dealer was contacted and refused to do the repair due to not being compensated by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided case number: 31563516. The contact was informed that once the vehicle was imported into the united states, the recalls were forfeited. The contact had not experienced a failure. Air bag light turns on and off randomly.

Air bag light became continuously illuminated & the warning ding makes a sound off and on while driving the vehicle, determined clock spring in the steering column was defective.looked for a recall for this issue, but found there was only one for right hand drive jeeps.i did, however, find an open investigation & many complaints for this same issue on left hand drive jeeps.

Drivers air bag light goes on and off intermittently and randomly.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 16v620000 (air bags) and stated that the part needed was not available to perform the recall repair. The air bag light on the control panel illuminates intermittently while driving.the duration of illumination fluctuates from seconds to 20 minutes.the faulty component is the clockspring assembly.due to your investigation pe 15-025, i'm in discussion with chrysler/fiat to repair the component outside of warranty as this is a great safety concern which they had fair warning to correct.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated and a chime sounded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring on the steering wheel needed to be replaced and that the airbags may not deploy in the event of a crash. Airbag warning light comes on constantly and continues to beep while driving.noticed recall for certain vin#'s, but not all.since this seems to be a widespread issue, more vehicles need to be added to this safety recall.

The airbag light came on rendering it useless. The problem is in the clockspring. There is a recall on this part up to 2007.i have a 2009 jku and chrysler won't warranty it. They are still using the same part that was recalled in 2007. There is a recall on current rhd jeeps with this exact part. Many people have this same problem with a documented faulty part that shuts off the airbag. Can't figure why chrysler won't fix this safety issue. Look what happened to toyotas stock with the prius brake issue.

My airbag light came on and my cruise control stopped working. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they stated it would be $500 to fix because it is not a recalled item.i have been waiting patiently for the recall because many other jeep wrangler owners are having the same issues. My vehicle was stationary.one day i simply went to start the jeep and the light came on. I was headed to work and always use my cruise control when i am on the highway, but it would not work.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact received notification on nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v292000 (air bags) and 16v352000 (air bags) however, the parts for the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact had not experienced any failures. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issues. Vin tool confirms remedy not yet available and parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated the air bag light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed the clock spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 54,938.

Last night i turned my car on...i noticed the airbag light stayed on longer than usual it went of but a couple minutes later it lighted up again for a couple seconds and from then it has been doing it, while driving it i noticed that my cruise control and horn are not working. I read a lot about the issue and i can for sure say its the clock spring, this makes a lot of sense when i bought the car in 2009 i received the car with a broken clock spring i had to go back the next day so they could replace it.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving at 45 mph, the air bag warning lamps illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the clock spring was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. The vin was not available.

Airbag light is on, had diagnostics checked, driver airbag circuit open. Jeep states that jeep is not covered by recall.

Airbag light kept going on. I am upset because there is a large recall on the mopar airbag module located in the sterring wheel. I had to pay 680.00 dollars, where there is over 1millon vehicles that have been recalled for this specific part. Something is just not right here. Please help thank you

Had an intermittent problem with the air bag dashboard light activating.this would occur at speeds of zero up to highway and would come and go without warning.the obd-ii code was b1b8f, driver seat track position sensor circuit open.after removing the driver seat to access the wiring harness discovered that one wire was broken at the sensor, partially held together by a "thread" of the wire insulation with bare metal exposed.the wiring harness had been installed under the seat with the wire pulled tight to the under seat "spring" wire support and held in place with a zip tie.i consider it likely that the up-and-down motion of the seat over a period of years caused the harness wire to break.the first picture shows the connector to which the broken wire was attached.unfortunately the broke wire is in the back, the one with the purple stripe.the second picture shows the broken wire after the wire plug was pulled out of the connector,

Airbag failure illumination, took it to the dealer they indicate the clock spring in the steering wheel was the issue and may cause the airbag to deploy with out a crash. I contacted jeep they indicated that this was a maintenance issue not a safety issue, they did say they would chip in and only charge me $600.00.but that offer was only good for 30 days after i reported the issue. This left me with no other recourse other then paying the $600.00 to pull the fuse to the airbag system. I now note this has been a problem on right hand drive vehicles like mine.i have contacted jeep several times and each time they have refused to cover this issue. So know i turn to you.

Airbag light is on and dinger comes on constantly, was told by dealer it is a clockspring failure, i have seen several comments on jeep forums concerning this problem, jeep is a rhd.

I have a bad clock spring .which can cause the air bags not to work and i am reading this a common problem.think this needs to be addressed since this seems to common problems which is safety related.the airbag light comes on and off while driving

Airbag light continually goes off and on while driving.

"takata recall" dealerships are saying they either don"t have the parts, or aren't taking appointment till after october 2018. I have been getting notices and have been trying to get recalls for years

Airbag light came on while pulling out of residence. The horn nor the cruise control currently work. After some research online, discovered there are many instances of this exact problem (clockspring). Chrysler acknowledges problems with the clockspring in the right hand drive version of jeep wrangler, and the 2007 left hand drive models, but nothing after. After speaking with chrysler, they told me they simply "don't care, because we've never heard of a single complaint regarding it", which is quite surprising considering all the complaints i was able to find online.

Dealer diagnosed a failure in the clockspring circuit.air bags will now not deploy in crash.

A few weeks ago while making a left hand turn i heard a pop and then my airbag lamp (dash light) started coming on and dings when the car is started (very annoying)...i looked in the manual and it told me this meant there was a problem with the driver's air bag.i did searches on the internet and found that a lot of vehicles are being recalled for a know issue / recall for clock-spring assembly in the driver's airbag system that could cause it to malfunction and not deploy during a crash.i found a few sites that listed my make / model of jeep as one of the recalls ... But when i called the chrysler / jeep customer service &took it to the chrysler / jeep dealership to have it diagnosed- i was told my make / model was not included in the recall so i had to pay for it out of my own pocket ($499.17 to be exact - see attached invoice).talk about a shock - i would have never guessed that it would be this expensive - but to be protected and safe in my vehicle it had to be done. I am hoping to also voice my concerns & hopefully protect other people and possibly prevent deaths of innocent people that are not aware of the problem so they can get the defective airbag clock-spring assemblies replaced.i also requesting that this incident be reported, investigated and hope to be reimbursed for this expense i pray that someone else does not have to spend the time, money or worry that i've had to go through in order to get this issue fixed... Hopefully before it causes an injury or death!

Clock spring in steering column has failed. Air bag warning light is on, horn does not work, cruise control does not work, traction control light is on. I drive in very dusty conditions while delivering us mail, records show a recall was issued for this jeep and this problem. Records also indicate that the recall work was completed. But i have the exact same problem that the recall was supposed to fix? what can i do?

Air bag warning light stays on, make a turn it goes out then comes back on and chimes in less than 60 seconds.

Recall on passenger air bag.takata has filed a chapter 11

Warning light for airbag system is activating every 30-50 seconds.contacted my service department, they stated it is a "clock spring" in the steering system.apparently, there are many claims for this from jeep wrangler owners.

The airbag light on the dash comes on and stays on.when turning the wheel sharply, the light goes off and then comes back on again when coming out of the turn.the vehicle was taken in for service and i was told the clock spring was bad and needed to be replaced.my understanding is that similar jeeps have been recalled for this and that the investigation has expanded to include my model and year as well.attached is the estimate from the dealer showing the need for repair.

About three or four days prior to the incident, i noticed upon starting the vehicle(2009 jeep wrangler rubicon - lhd), that the airbag indicator light on the dashboard was lit, indicating that the airbag was not functioning. I had noticed previously that the airbag light would come on, and then go away, so i thought nothing of it.however,on the date of the incident, as i drove the vehicle and was turning the steering wheel, i heard what sounded like a thin plastic wrapper "crinkling" as if caught between the stationary part of the steering column and the rotating rear section of the steering wheel. When i stopped the vehicle, i noticed a flat strip plastic encased copper wire leads appeared to be unraveling from between the stationary portion of the steering column and the rotating rear section of the steering wheel.i drove the vehicle to my auto repair garage, and the technician identified the part as the airbag clockspring assembly.the assembly apparently failed during normal vehicle use and now results in a reduced level of protection for myself in the event of accident.after researching the matter, i have discovered that many other owners of 2008, 2009 and 2010 jeep wranglers (lhd) have experienced similar failures with their airbags.the repair garage advised me that there was a recall on rhd jeep wranglers of the same model years for the same assembly.

A few weeks ago my airbag lamp (dash light) started coming on and dings when the car is started (very annoying) ... I looked in the manual and it told me this meant there was a problem with the driver's air bag.i did searches on the internet and found that my year, make & model jeep had a know issue / recall for clock spring in the driver's airbag system that could cause it to malfunction and not deploy during a crash.when i called chrysler they said my vin number is not in the list of recalls but that it didn't mean that wasn't the problem because of the large recall for this issue.they want me to pay to have the problem fixed at the dealership myself and then file a complaint with them for re-imbursement... Which i find to be ridiculous - if its a know problem with my vehicle then they should honor it and fix the issue without me being out the money!

Made a left hand turn from a stop sign and the air bag light went on and has not gone off since.jeep has informed me i am at risk because the air bag will not function in the event of a collision.i have been informed only right hand drive wranglers have been recalled for this and the warranty has been extended for ten years.this is a costly repair.it makes no sense to me how or why this issue does not warrant a recall.

On a 2009 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.the vehicle also no longer has functioning speed control.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007-2012 jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. The faulty clockspring is the a safely concern due to a potential airbag failure in the 2009 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the esp/bas warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel which resulted in a complete loss in the vehicle stability control. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The clock spring module was being replaced for the second time within one year. The failure mileage was approximately 14,400. The vin was unavailable.

My air bag light came on and would not go out. I brought the vehicle to my localauto service. After testing it was found that the clock spring needed to be replaced. This is a normal left hand drive jeep wrangler 2009.i understand that this was a problem in previous years and was on recall during those years. Driving the vehicle with the light on is a safety problem that needs tobe yet resolved by jeep. I am looking to hae my money refunded for the correction of this safety problem.i have the part and numbers are on the part. How do i backtrack thses numbers. This part may have been a 2008 part used in the following years production.

While driving straight at approximately 35 mph the airbag warning light started to flash then went off for about a minute or two,now it comes on and stays on for same time (on solid) constantly while vehicle in motion.

On my 2009 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes every few minutes with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.i have my 2009 jeep wrangler at the dealership and they confirmed that it has a faulty clockspring within the steering wheel assembly. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008, 2009 and later jeep wrangler (lhd) owners. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2009 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. I have called jeep/chrysler and they refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.i even pointed out to them that 2007 (lhd) jeep wranglers had their warranties extended to 150,000 miles or 10 years for this same issue and all 2008-2012 (rhd) have been recalled for this issue (nhtsa action number: pe11019. Recall 11v528).to support that there is an issue, when i called a jeep dealership's parts department they told me the clockspring for my 2009 jeep wrangler has been superseded by 8 part numbers. That is 8 times they have worked on fixing this part, but they refuse to warranty on my 2009 jeep wrangler.

On the 2009 jeep wrangler dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 200x jeep wrangler owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 200x jeep wrangler during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring for new models than 2008 that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Air bag light came on while driving. After some quick internet research it seems the clock spring in the steering wheel of 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 jeep wranglers fails. This causes and open circuit and air bag disables.vehicles was brought to jeep dealer on april 19, 2014. Dealer verified that the clock spring was bad and there was an open circuit to the driver air bag. Jeep would not assist in replacement of the part saying it was was normal wear and tear item.this is a safety issue and there have been many reports of this part failing early in the life of the vehicle. Dealer charged me $320 parts and labor for the repair. I believe jeep should warranty this item indefinitely since it is expensive to repair and most people will forego the repair and risk their safety.

2009 jeep wrangler.consumer writes in regards to passenger airbag inflator recall has been repaired.*ldthe consumer stated the vehicle was repaired.

My airbag light keeps going on and off and chimes with ever time it is engaged on the freeway. I believe my airbag system is malfunctioning which is a safety concern.

Clock spring failed to to date the clock spring has been replaced 3x and now needs another one they only have a 1 year warranty. Air bag light on horn disabled no cruise control no traction control or antilock brakes what clock spring fails.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the clock spring was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 59,500.

Air bag warning light stays on.

Airbag warning light comes on and continues to beep while driving.

Faulty clockspring wiring for airbag.replaced for $500.00this is a known defect for rhd models that has prompted a recall.after many complaints, the 2007 lhd model warranty appears to have been extended as well.however, i had the same issues with my 2009 lhd model (160,000 miles).this is a known defect that should be absorbed by the company and not the customer!

The air bag warning light and warning tone started coming on and turning off in approx. One minute cycles.i looked in the owners manual and it warned of a possible problem with my air bag and it needed to be returned to the dealer asap. The dealer checked it and said that the air bag clock spring, is broken and needs to be replaced. The dealer service consultant warned that the air bag may go off on its own when being operated normally or, not at all in the event of a crash. This jeep is a left hand drive vehicle and not covered under warranty. In doing on line research i have found many, many complaints of this same kind. I feel that chrysler should be required to replace it at their cost because it is a safety issue on a fairly new vehicle, also the right hand drive cars are under warranty.

Started my jeep and the seat belts light rays on. It comes and goes while driving.dealer said sounds like the clock spring. I know there was a recall on rhd jeeps but what about th lhd ones.

The clock spring ceased to work turning off the airbag, there was a shudder and the tcs (traction controlled system) began braking on its own. Then when the brakes were depressed the system went shuddery and quit working.this is a known issue with 2007 thru 2013 jeep wranglers and there is a recall on the part, except that crysler has determined that it only affects a very limited number of jeeps. This is not the case. A search on google will show hundreds of cases where the clock spring breaks, causing the airbags to become turned off and the end and tcs systems to go haywire, making the vehicle uncontrollable and undriveable. Chrysler has refused to recall the part in wranglers jeep liberty and two other brands.the hazzard is compounded immensely if you happen to get (death wobble) yet another unfixed issue. This will lead to accidents and death, if it hasn't already.

There is a known issue with the jeep wrangler clock spring in 2007+ models. Currently a recall has been issued for 2007 and 2008 left hand drive models, and 2007-2012 right hand drive models. A recall should be made for all model years and configurations as this issue can lead to the airbags not deploying in the event of a crash. The current recall is as follows: chrysler is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 right hand drive (rhd) jeep wrangler vehicles manufactured from february 1, 2007, through october 10, 2011. Some vehicles may be equipped with driver's airbag clockspring assemblies that could experience a compromised airbag circuit resulting in an airbag lamp illumination, which indicates that the airbag may not deploy.consequence:a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injuries.remedy:chrysler will notify owners and remedy the vehicles as necessary free of charge. Chrysler will mail to owners an interim notification during march 2012. Owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.notes:chrysler's recall number is l37. Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Airbag light and chime continues to come on.after research, this is an clockspring issues that apparent on numerous jeep.a recall was submitted for 2007 models for this issue, but not on 2008 and newer models.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed however, the contact noticed that air bag clock spring was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 29,000. Updated 6/10/14

As with hundreds of other left hand steer jeep owners, our airbag light is on, horn does not work, and cruise control is inoperative. Nhtsa and jeep have deemed it okay to repair these problems on the right hand steer which is a very small percent of all jeeps. Get on it, start the recall, it is unsafe, and why should we have to pay the price when jeep/dodge/chrysler know this is an issue. I have been trying to get this fixed and talking to other 2009 owners since march of 2010. Let's go.

I have reached out to gerry wood chrysler jeep dodge several times regarding the recall post card i receive every couple months regarding a recall on s 33 airbag clock spring. I also called dodge headquarters with no results because the transferred my call back to jerry would chryslerjeep dodge. The jeep airbag light is on intermittently. They tell me the part is not in they will call me when it is delivered. I never hear back from anyone. It has been a year going back and forth about this. I'm hesitant to drive the jeep because i could possibly be injured or injure others. I need help.

I am writing to complain that my 4 year old vehicle has a major failure in its air bag safety system. I've called the dealer and asked if there were any recalls on my specific vehicle and was told no. I then wrote to jeep which involved a timely process of joining a jeep member club. After complaining to jeep i was told there was no recall or warranty left on my vehicle. How can you sell a vehicle and offer financing but they cant warranty a part that has failed , and is not a commonly replaced or wearable item. Only to find its replacement part is only available through the dealer. I have owned and operated a repair facility for 7 years and have never had to replace a clockspring on such a new vehicle . Being a rare fix even on an older vehicle. Usually only replaced after an accident. Please help!!

While driving the air bag light comes on intermittently ,flashing and dinging, called chrysler who informed me that there is only a recall on 2007 and 2008 models as well as models built in feb 2009, apparently my vehicle was built in april 2009.

Airbag warning chime and light come on when vehicle is in motion. Both reset when vehicle is stopped. Cause of failure is bad airbag clock spring. Recall has been issued for right hand drive wranglers but does not cover left hand drive wrangles. I am a avid off road enthusiast and believe the exposure to dirt/dust is the root cause. This was the finding with rhd jeeps due the nature of postal service use. Since my vehicle is used off road with the doors removed i do feel the conditions are close to what a postal jeep may experience. This is the intended use for this vehicle and the clock spring should not fail.

Vehicle not being repaired in a reasonable manner:received recall notice s43 and s33. I called sunland park dodge, el paso, tx for service. Was informed that parts not available and to call back in approximately 3 weeks.i called approximately 4 weeks later to same facility and was transferred to service department.a representative informed me that one of the recalled parts was not available.i asked if i could order the part and schedule a service appointment.request was denied.the representative proceeded to try and have me call the national dodge parts dept to inquire when the part would be in.i told him that i would not be willing to spend my personal time (an expense) chasing down a part that he should be able to order.i then asked if he would make that call and get that information to me.he refused to help me and was attempting to end the call.then i asked to speak with his manger.around 20 minutes later someone who was not his manager proceeded to give false information saying that they could replace one of the parts and 'inspect' the other recalled part to see if it needs to be replaced.i informed the unidentified woman that, considering the questionable customer service, i would no longer feel safe trusting their dealership to make repairs to my vehicle.service incomplete after approximately 7 weeks.pursuing service at alternate dealership.

The contact owned a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving 35 mph, another vehicle crashed into the driver side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained a head bump, but did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to the dealer's collision body shop. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic informed her that the b1b02 (driver side air bag clock spring assembly) was experiencing a failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the failure needed attention as soon as possible to prevent an air bag failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was 70,000.

My airbag warning light turned on. It would intermittently turn on and off after that until i had it fixed. It would turn on and off with a frequency of about one every other minute sounding off a warning chime. I did some research and learned that this symptom is a common problem with my model year of vehicle and has been a problem with model years 2007 and up.the problem is with the clockspring mechanism in the steering column that has something to do with the air bag. It apparently has something to do with the function of the airbag and is already the subject of recalls on other model years as well as a recall on the 2009 rhd version of the wrangler. They clearly are using the same part on these models and should be a recall on all models that have this part. I brought it to the dealer to get fixed and jeep determined that it was a faulty clockspring mechanism and i had it replaced as it obviously is a safety risk. Please investigate this and have them recall all models with the same clockspring mechanism before someone gets hurt or killed. I am currently negotiating with chrysler corporation regarding this repair but i paid for the entire repair myself.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The owner stated that the vehicle was stolen and the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed causing the vehicle roll over several times. During the crash the front end was severely damaged but the air bags did not deploy. The cause of the failure was not determined. No further info was available. A police report was taken at the scene. The local dealer was not notified. The vehicle was towed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the air bag warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and stated that the contact was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v528000 (air bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,300. The vin was not available.

I have an error light for the airbags that go on and off by itself.

2009 jeep wrangler. Consumer sent correspondence related to recall for clock spring in steering column *tgwthe consumer stated prior to the recall, the air bag light illuminated. The consumer was informed her vehicle was not included in the recall.

All three of our same like vehicles at work have same problem. After your gas just cuts off you can count a second or two and gas come flying out where you put it in. Just do a search on utube and you can see a perfect example of this. Put in something like jeep wrangler fueling. Also all three of our four door jeep 2009 wrangler right hand drive air bag lights are on. There has been a recall for this but jeep will not do anything fore us. In the meantime our airbags will not work. The recall number is 11v528000 air bags frontal. They say our ours are not part of the recall. This is crazy. What can we do. Thank you

While working my mail route, only about 20 miles in, my right hand drive wrangler started to smoke. I assumed because the vehicle never turned off when it began to smoke it was something small causing the issue. I was driving 15 mph when this occurred. I pulled over, shut off my vehicle and opened the hood. There was a fire on the passanger side of my vehicle under and behind my battery, rolling under the vehicle moving very quickly. I immediately closed the hood, got my belonging out of my vehicle and watched as it blew up, and i called 911. My vehicle is totaled. I am now learning that this is becoming a common occurance with jeep! why are there no public warnings!! where are the recalls!!!!!!!! i and others could have been hurt or killed!!!!

Was driving with low speed wheni heardthe car alarm and heavy smoke started to show from under the hood.i had no full coverage on the truck so i had to take chance to open the hood and remove the battery cable before the whole car goes on fire. Was lucky this is didn't happen while i am driving on the freeway.the technician said that thefuse box was caught on fire.

Complete electrical failure while driving on a city street. Unable to jump start vehicle.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the headlight switch malfunctioned and the headlights would not turn on or off. Additionally, the turn signal light failed to operate and the reverse lights would not illuminate. The windshield wipers malfunctioned and would inadvertently ly turn on. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The local dealer clay cooley dodge located at 1261 e airport fwy, irving, tx 75062 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. No assistance was offered. The contact also indicated that the throttle fuel pump was replaced however, the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 110,000.

Air bag warning light stays on, make a turn it goes out then comes back on and chimes in less than 60 seconds.

Violent shaking of the steering wheel when the jeep goes over a bump in the road. This is a regular occurrence. The last incident, the hazard lights on the dash panel came on and have not been able to turn off since then. Happens mostly on the highway or when the vehicle is traveling at 45-55 mph.

The vehicle would not turn on i would have to continuously turn the ignition and finally it will turn on. The vehicle has recently began stalling and turning off when i would be sitting at a traffic light and vibrating very scarely. The check engine light came on so i took it to my machanic who stated it needed to have a tuneup because it was misfiring on five cylinders instead of six cylinders. The was done but five days later the problem returned and this time the taillight on the right side of the vehicle alone with the right side signal light were both out. I then took the vehicle to jeep who charged me $140 just to tell me that it would cost me another $870 to replace the tipm. I don't understand how this could be happening on a vehicle with 72,000 miles if it was not defected to begin with.barbara king

Left front turn signal works intermittently, power windows work intermittently, radio works intermittently. Was told it was the totally integrated power module. This seems to be a very common problem on the jeep wrangler

I was delivering mail, and while stopped at a box i noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. I pulled into the nearest driveway, and got out of the vehicle just before the engine compartment went up in flames.

The vehicle has some type of short in the starter circuit, so power does not transmit to the starter when the key is turned.this is a common complaint on jkforum as well with a solution of adding a ground wire.

After driving in the rain with no leaks evident the next day the car had the wipers running even when the switch was in "off". The headlights are on even though they are switched "off" and the instrument gauges are all non functional as well as the odometer and dome light. Removing battery cable fixes the issue one time then it goes back to not working

Airbag light is on and dinger comes on constantly, was told by dealer it is a clockspring failure, i have seen several comments on jeep forums concerning this problem, jeep is a rhd.

Wipers turn on by themselves, sometimes won't work when driving. Radio constantly reprogramming itself. Headlights sometimes come on without turning them on yet occasionally won't work when driving. While driving i've had the radio shut off, trip odometer reset, mileage reset, it's almost like the cpu resets in the middle of driving. Lastly, ive had the entire jeep stall while stopped at intersections. Most times it takes 2-3 cranks to get it started. Nothing lights up on the dash when i try to start it.these things have happened approximately 30-40 times in the last year. The radio reprogramming itself happens daily.

The wipers keep turning on by themselves and sometimes won't shut off.they also sometimes come on when the turn signals are used, and again sometimes won't turn off.they sometimes won't turn on.also, bulbs, such as headlight, markers, and fog lights keep blowing out on an extremely frequent basis.all these thing happen when the jeep is both in motion and idling both on city streets and highway driving.....going foreword and during mid turn.while accelerating and braking. All occurrences have happened during all 4 new york seasons. And at no specific time of day.we have no photos but this happens at various times and has happened many times since thejeep was bought new in 2010 and this was brought to the attention of the dealership which informed me that they did not physically"see" it happen therefore could not diagnose. I will put a date in the "when did this happen box" below as a start point...but know it has happened many times and continues to happen to this day.

Auto won't start. Major computer failure. Cracked ignition coil.replacedpcm & reprogrammed.

The contact owned a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving 55 mph, there was an odor of burning rubber or plastic inside the vehicle. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed smoke and flames inside the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire and a report was not filed. The contact was able to exit the vehicle without injuries. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a storage lot. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

The ignition coil cracked causing loss of power.this is the fourth ignition coil to be installed in this vehicle.

All warning lights on instrument cluster turned on and there was a constant chime. Fuel gage dropped to empty, i didn't know how much gas i had.the speedometer and tachometer no longer worked, i had no idea how fast/slow i was going. Windshield wipers stayed on constantly, in the off position, eventually destroying my blades.headlights stayed on constantly in the off position and blinkers would not function at all.horn would randomly go off and doors would lock & unlock.ac blew hot.it kind of felt like my power steering went out.i could smell strong fumes from the exhaust.i first replaced the tipm and some of the problems were fixed, but not all.i then replaced the instrument cluster and all previous unresolved issues, were resolved.when the problems first started happening, it only happened occasionally. It happened at random times, driving on highways or streets or sitting at a red light. After a few months it was constant and would start as soon as vehicle was started.

My jeep went on fire do to a bad or fulty fuse box. Reports say its a bad module in the fuse box.and it will get hot enough to start a fire. And was sitting in my drive way for 2 days.

During a "death wobble" event, my passenger side blinkers and brake light stopped working. We attempted to change the bulbs, fuses, and checked the wiring under the steering column to no avail. How much more is this vehicle cost me?

Tipm has everything going crazy. When the jeep is started the wriper start wiping and the the lights quit and there are no blinkers. Also happen when in movement.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler x. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The engine restarted after three hours and resumed normal operation. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000.

2009 jeep wrangler. S10 comeback-letter to the secretary from senator on behalf of constituent re jeep stability problems (reply directly to constituent).the consumer stated while driving, the electronic stabilityprogram light illuminated and warned him that he was sliding on a straight section on the interstate which was dry. The right front brake locked up, which almost caused the consumer to lose control of the vehicle. His foot was on the accelerator and was being forced off the road onto a grass embankment. The esp/bas indicator then indicated that the system had a problem and had been disabled. Because the system had shut down, the consumer was able to return home where he collected information on the esp system.the consumer stated the vehicle has been repaired.

Deadhwobble, really bad vibration coming from the front , especially after going over pothole or railroad tracks, speeds over 30 mph . Its getting to the point where is very easy to someone to loose control of the vehicle and could easily cause hard to the driver or others including dead, jeep should be aware of this problem is not safe to drive a vehicle that wobbles to the point is not safe to operate. A person could get hurt if this ploblem doest get look into it. You guys are more than welcome to test my vehicle and see if you guys would drive a vehicle like this on the daily basis, is like a bomb ready to explode at any time. Is dangerous to drive. Please take a look at this before someone gets hurt, i am also documenting that i submitted this request to you guys just encase something happens to me or anyone. I will say i told you so.

A few weeks after getting the rhd clock springredesigned style i kept going out of control on turns, and when the road was covered in snow the wheels would lock up and i would go out of control and spin in a circle. The new design clock spring didn't work from the beginning, and it could have caused a catastrophic event a new old style clockspring had to be installed to fix the problem for the 7th time

I experienced a classic "death wobble" as described on jeep problems.com.extreme shaking from side to side and loss of ability to steer until i slowed down below 20 mph.

While driving my jeep wrangler 2009, i hit a bump in the road and the car went into the death wobble - violently shaking from side-to-side. The only way to stop it was to slow down or come to a near stop and then continue. It does this very often now - usually starts somewhere between 35-55 mph and just after hitting a bump.

When driving the jeep on the expressway, the entire front end started shimmying from side to side, threatening to pull the steering wheel out of my hands.it stopped when i reduced speed to under 55 mph.whenever i tried to go over 55 mph, the jeep resumed it's death wobble.this is not a safe condition to be driving a vehicle in.

From new this engine burns over 1 quart to 3 quarts of oil per 1000 miles traveled, if you do an oil change at 5000 miles as is recommendedthere is no oil left in the motor, mopar says this is normal oil consumption.

Fuel spurts out of gas tank all over after gas nozzle is removed when getting gas. Vehicle has trouble starting and feels like it is going to stall out at all speeds.

Approximately 4 years ago, the heater core in my jeep failed suddenly, pouring antifreeze out onto my passenger floorboard repeatedly. At the time i was not aware that it was my heater core. We asked a mechanic to let us know what was wrong and that's when we found out. I am so glad that we noticed it in time because we have 3 dogs that frequently are in my vehicle and one, some, or all of them could have died.this was not a cheap fix as they had to take apart the dash to gain access. I love my jeep, but come on you guys.... No customer should have to fork over so much money for manufacturer defects.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated when shifted into 4 wheel drive. In addition, the air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v290000 (air bags) and 16v352000 (air bags) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000. Part distribution disconnect.

The engine was on idle. The car was stationary. I pressed the gas pedal. The car did not move. I saw smoke coming out the air con/fan on the dashboard. I got off the car and look underneath it. I saw red liquid pouring onto the ground and flames. The firesubsequently extended to the entire engine. The fire brigade came and manage to put out the fire. There was no warning of overheating or any lights that would have indicated that something was wrong.the car was regularly maintained (every 10,000 km) at the local jeep service center. The car only had 77000 milesi have never been off-road.i have never made any upgrade or modification to the car.

150,000mi on my jeep and my heat has gone completely out. I live in a cold climate area in the north east. . the heat stopped working when the car was moving down the highway causing my windows to fog up dramatically reducing visibility. This fogging has continued and i can no longer drive the vehicle without the windows being partially cracked down.

We where driving down the road and the vehicle came to a sudden stop we smelt the clutch and there was oil on the engine and ground . We saw a connecting rod cap hanging out the side of the block.a mechanic removed the oil pan and found 2 connecting rod bolts broken laying in the oil pan. It was complete engine failure due to the connecting rod bolts.have gotten complete motor from jeep remanufacture

Cracked exhaust manifold drive side, broken bolt on passenger side exhaust manifold

At 16000 miles, my driver side exhaust manifold cracked.the dealer replaced.it has now been replace 6 additional times.the dealer will not honor their original repair which obviously did not work.i am breathing insafe exhaust fumes.chrysler corp has know about this problem (tsb09-001-13) now chrysler will not fix.it was under warranty the first 4 times it cracked.clearly it is a warped head or valve problem.either way exhaust comes in the car.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact mentioned that upon inspection, it was found that the actuator had water inside it and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While examining the vehicle the contact noticed that the oil level was low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was performing normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 58,000 and the failure mileage was 5,000.

I was delivering mail, and while stopped at a box i noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. I pulled into the nearest driveway, and got out of the vehicle just before the engine compartment went up in flames.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. Approximately one year ago, while driving approximately 35 mph, smoke appeared everywhere. The contact quickly grabbed her baby and jumped out of the vehicle, which was momentarily engulfed in flames and burned to the ground. There was no warning indicator. The police and fire department were at the scene and the fire department extinguished the fire. Police and fire reports were filed. There were no injuries. The insurance company towed the remnants of the vehicle away. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not provided. The failure mileage was 130,000.

Driving down the road and my jeep shut down. I was in the middle of traffic trying to miss cars but i had no power steering. I pulled to the side of the road and took it to the shop. They had to replace my tipm module. I would like to have someone contact chrysler to have them put in a recall so this does not happen to anyone else.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the engine stalled as the low oil pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the entire engine, the cam shaft position sensor, the timing cover assembly unit and the oil pressure valveneeded to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

I found leaking transmission cooler lines on my jeep wrangler. I contacted chrysler/jeep by phone to inquire about a customer satisfaction notification l05 transmisson oil cooler lines issue pertaining to tsb: 2008-2010 jk wrangler: transmission oil cooler lines may weep transmission fluid. Tsb: 2008-2010 jk wrangler: transmission oil cooler lines may weep transmission fluid subject: extended warranty -transmission oil cooler lines may weep transmission fluid at the hose to tube crimp joints (7 years or 70,000 miles warranty extension) overview: this bulletin involves installing new transmission oil cooler supply & return line assembly. Models: 2008 -2010 (jk) wrangler note: this extended warranty bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with 3.8l engine (sales code egt) and an automatic transmission (sales code dgv) built before march 10, 2010 (mdh0410xx). Symptom/condition: weeping transmission oil cooler lines at the hose-to-tube crimp joints. Diagnosis: if the symptom/condition is experienced proceed to the repair procedure. I was told my vehicle would not be covered by this and i would have to pay for the repairs.if these lines were to burst or open up enough to spray fluid it would ignite off the exhaust manifolds and burn the vehicle to the ground. This has happened to several jeep owners i have found in my research and one owner had their vehicle burn even after the lines were improperly replaced by a dealership even. My jeep meets all the criteria in the customer satisfaction notification l05 yet i was told it wasn't covered.

The transmission oil temperature got hot and boiled over.i believe this is due to jeeps poor transmission cooler design.it is on the bottom side of the radiator and does not receive direct air flow to keep cool.

2009 jeep wrangler. Consumer writes on behalf of his wife who was involved in a motor vehicle accident when another vehicle made a left turn in front of her. Right after the impact, the jeep remained in drive and continued to move forward. The engine compartment also ignited, resulting in a fire *tgwafter the vehicle was brought to a halt, and a fire retardant was applied to extinguish the flame, as the jeep was being set up for towing, the fire re-ignited and caused additional damage.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving approximately 65 mph the vehicle began toshake violently. The contact turned the vehicle off and after restarting it the shaking stopped. The failure occurred three times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While sitting idle in the garage with the engine turned off, the vehicle caught fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed accordingly. The fire originated from the engine compartment but the cause was deemed as unknown. The vehicle was destroyed. There was also fire damage to the contacts home. The failure mileage was 667.

My airbag light keeps going on and off and chimes with ever time it is engaged on the freeway. I believe my airbag system is malfunctioning which is a safety concern.

During a "death wobble" event, my passenger side blinkers and brake light stopped working. We attempted to change the bulbs, fuses, and checked the wiring under the steering column to no avail. How much more is this vehicle cost me?

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the glass headlight lenses were distorted. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 117,000.

Left front turn signal works intermittently, power windows work intermittently, radio works intermittently. Was told it was the totally integrated power module. This seems to be a very common problem on the jeep wrangler

Gas overflows from tank through fuel filler neck as gas pump shuts off. Can happen without topping off fuel. Fuel runs down side of vehicle. Possible fire hazard ?

When putting gas in the tank, gasoline sprays out of the filler tube and splashes gas on me, the side of the vehicle and onto the ground.this occurs everytime i fill the tank.i have tried different gas stations and the problem still occurs.the first couple of times this happened, gasoline had sprayed out of the filler tube and onto me and my clothes.now when i fill the tank, i must stand upwind and away from the filler tube to avoid getting sprayed with gas.this problem needs to be addressed!the same defect was reported in the 2007 & 2008 jeeps.it would appear that the same defect is now being reported multiple times for the 2009 model.gasoline that is sprayed onto people and the ground is a fire hazard!i refuse to let my wife and kids put gas in the jeep, in fear that they will be soaked in gasoline.i have contacted my local jeep dealership and was told that no recall and no safety bulletins have been issued for the 2009 model. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Filling up gas at station - splash backon 2 occasions, today (03 february 2014) and last week (26 january 2014), the gas nozzle was in the automatic position.in both times, a splash back of gasoline occurred when the gas nozzle reached the full level and the handle clicked. This occurred at 2 different gas stations.approximate 1-cup of gas splashed out at each occurrence.i drove home and washed the splash area with soap and water.end

Fuel tank spills out every time i fill the tank.

When filling my 2009 jeep wrangler with gas, the fuel overflows - often so much that it spills onto the ground.no matter how slowly or cautiously i pump the fuel, it still overflows!this has happened on multiple occasions!i have had other people fuel my vehicle to make certain it was not personal error - and it still overflows.it is my opinion that there is a malfunction in the vehicle.i have researched the matter and found that apparently i am not the only one having this issue.i ask that this be deemed a recall - and that the company pays to fix it.this malfunction could cause a fire and other issues related to gasoline exposure.it is not ethical that i can not fill my vehicle with gasoline without dealing with the extra cost, damage to my vehicle, and health risks associated with an overflow!

Every time i pump gas into my vehicle, it spits back gas as it nears the full portion of gas tank. This happens every time ipump gas into vehicle either with auto pump or by holding fuel pump nozzle.

Vehicle will spit back fuel when performing a fill up (at time of filling.).the fuel forcefully shoots out of the refuiling access point.amount of fuel that spits back is condiderable (the better of a pint;) enough to cover the side of the vehicle, the rear bumper (as well as on myself)and will leave a considerable amount of fuel on the pavement at the gas station.i will point out that i never top off the tank.i simply fill until the fuel nozzle stops - a normal way of fueling.the "spit back" occurs within 1-2 seconds after fueiling is completed.i have checked with chrysler, and this is a known issue.in fact, a tsb (14-001-11) as well as a warranty extension was issued for this problem, but the the extension was only issued for 2007 and 2008 models.my model (2009) is the same vehicle, however, i am not being afforded (by chrysler) the same consideration simply due to the fact that my model year exceeds 2008.i view this as a major safety issue, especially given the fact that i at many times, ihave my children in the vehicl when i need to fuel up.i truly feel this problem has not been rectified for the 2009 model year, and further believe that i should be afforded the same benefit to have this fixed at no charge - as i am experiencing the identical issue.again, this should be addressed as it really is a safety issue.please note that i selected that there was an "injury" due to the fact that i had been covered in gasoline, which is known to be toxic.-thank you for your help/consideration.i welcome a call to discuss further or if i can provide any more info to help.

Fuel spurts out of gas tank all over after gas nozzle is removed when getting gas. Vehicle has trouble starting and feels like it is going to stall out at all speeds.

Every time i fill up at gas station my tank overflows. Is becoming a big concern. Know of others that have the same problem.

My wife took my wrangler to get gas and when the guy pulled out the nozzle gas sprayed out and some got on him and my jeep this is actually the second time this has happened the first time was 2/20/14 same gas station different guy.

I'm sure you're aware that this is an ongoing problem with jeep wrangler years 2007, 08 and 09 where upon filling up the tank and once it reaches the top, instead of the pump clicking off, fuel (a lot of it) spits out of the tank and all over the bumper and the ground. To chrysler's credit, if you complain, they will reimburse you for the repairs but it is tedious and often times, people can't afford the money up front so chrysler wins by attrition especially since they weren't forced to have a recall.i understand that nhtsa has closed this issue but it is bad. How would you like to have fuel pouring out of your vehicle and onto your shoes, car and the ground, every time you filled up?my next step is to report it to the epa for certainly, fuel spills of this magnitude cannot be legal.if at all possible, can you re-address this for the inevitability is that a 'perfect storm' scenario will occur and while fuel spewing problem is happening, static electricity from the consumer could ignite it or even some careless and unsafe smoker is too close. When filling with fuel there is always a large burp of fuel where the gas spills all over the place when tank is full.

Gas overflows and spits out when filling the tank.

I have a 2009 jeep wrangler and every time i fill up the gas, it spills out.chrysler/jeep knows of the "fuel spill back during refueling" danger. Gas splashes out of tank during refueling (apparent check valve manufacturer defect). Also, possible gas spill during roll over. Chrysler issued traffic safety bulletin, dated february 11, 2011, (tsb) # 14-001-11 for extended warranty (lifetime) for jeep wranglers with 3.8l engine built between march 1, 2007 & march 31, 2008. Gas tanks being replaced.my 2009 jeep wrangler (same engine, exact same defective check valve) also, splashes gas back at you during refueling, but is not included in bulletin, due to my vehicle 'built on' date being too late. Neither gas tank nor check valve had been redesigned to make safe, as of the cut off date in bulletin. Dealer service department states that they see this problem all the time (they call it 'burping').

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler.the contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, gasoline fuel would spew from the fuel tank onto the contact and the ground.the contact had not yet taken the vehicle to the dealer regarding the fuel tank failure.the contact stated the failure was a major safety issue that could potentially cause a fire.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 17,100.

Fuel flashes from filler neck at every fuel up. I've covered by it a few times, and had to clean up fuel at 1 station.

I own a 2009 jeep wrangler 2 door model that has been having issues when i fill up my gas tank. I have seen on numerous online forums that i am not alone in this matter. When i use the pump to fill my tank it will auto shut off the pump then spew at least 2-3 cups of gasoline out of the gas intake onto the side of my vehicle, ground and on occasion myself. I have read that many have also filled a compliant so that chrysler will perform a recall while others have paid out of pocket to fix this issues. I do not feel that it is fair to have paying customers pay for an obvious design or fuel system flaw.

It started more than a year ago. Everytime i fill my tank it overflows gas everywhere. It doesnot stop automatically like it should. Gas flows all over the ground and not just a little bit. I know there was a recall for 2008 jeeps but i feel it has affected 2009 jeeps and newer. I read about this problem on jeep forums all the time. My dealer said they willnot fix it.

Thank you

When filling up gas take, it does not stop automatically when full like it used to. Gas overflows out of filler tube down the side of the 2009 jeep wrangler. Issue did not start until vehicle had 65k miles on it.

Fuel spits back when fueling.this happens everything we fuel up and is creating a dangerous situation.the local jeep dealer tells me there was an extended warranty offered for 2007 and 2008 jeep wranglers but my 2009 was not included in the extended warranty.

Constant overflow while fueling(~80% of time).i do not use anything but reg grade fuel.i do not hold the fueling hose.it does not matter if i put the hose in all the way or slightly out.it typically overflows about 1/2 to 1 pint creating a fire hazard and an environmental issue

Any time you fuel this vehicle the fuel gushes out of the filler neck. We have tried several different fueling stations . Different times of the day and night. Nothing changes , the fuel still blows out. Sometimes even if you pump slow it will still spew back out. Not every station has the rubber splash guards on their nozzles.the reason this is a danger is very obvious. Gasoline has a low flash point , not to mention the health risk of the vapors.one freak spark unrelated to me fueling could have deadly consequences.i spoke to jeep headquarters about this issue. They refused to give me the lot number for the faulty fuel tanks. The fuel tanks that had issues was on 2008 and earlier jeep wranglers. Our jeep was manufactured in 2/2009 and from what i have gathered uses the exactsame tank as the 2008 and earlier tanks back to a certain year.is it to far fetched to believe that the tank installedcould be faulty , just like the earlier ones.just so we are clear this has been occuring since we purchased the jeep and continues to.i would like jeep to replace the tank or the valve in the tank. They could install the retro fit repair . I don't feel as an owner we should have the burden of replacing the tank.

Fuel overflows when filling up vehicle.

Almost every time i fill up my jeep and use the automatic shut-off on the pump, it will shut off and then puke some gas out the filler hole and down the side of the jeep. Jeep won't cover it because it wasnt a 2007 or 2008 my with same known issue.

When filling my jeep wrangler jk 2009 gas tank it over fills when pump shuts off the spilling gas all over my 2009 jeep wrangler jkand ground.

Every time the vehicle is filled, regardless of gas station, the gas always gushes out the fill spout. The pump shuts off and then a rush of air, followed by fule spits out of the vehicle. The amout of fule is probably on the order of 2 cups.

My 2009 jeep wrangler is spitting out about a pint of gas at every fill up just after the auto shut off for the pump engages. It runs down the side of my left rear quarter panel, onto the bumper and then onto the ground. This is both a safety and environmental concern. I am currently using my trip odometer to estimate the amount of fuel i can put in based on my estimated gas mileage and miles driven.

When filling up the gas tank a large amount of fuel will spit back out of the tank. This has occurred each time i fill my tank from 3 separate gas stations.it appears to be a significant safety hazard and environmental hazard.

When using a gas pump to auto-fill the tank, the pump shuts off and the tank overflows some of the fuel onto the paint on the outside of the 2009 jeep wrangler. Doesn't matter what gas station i go to, the style of nozzle, or the angle the nozzle is used at. It over fills every time. This jeep wrangler x was recentlypurchased in november 2017 with 90, 961 miles. Started early november. I recently sold my 1997 jeep wrangler which i had driven over 178,523 miles in the 18 years of ownership never experienced this problem not even once. Initially i thought it was operator error until i read the compliants on the internet from other jeep owners and the nhtsa website.

Fuel runs out when filling up jeep at the gas pump happens every time i fill up

Gas tank skid pla rusted through. Gas tank ready to fall off 2009 jeep. 88k miles and parked in garage. Pieces missing and cracked lengthwise and widthwise

First time filling the tank up, and out of no where gas ejected out on to me and would not stop. I had to grab the gas nozzle out to get it to stop. I was covered in flammable gas, small puddles on the ground and the gas that i couldnt get off the plastic bumper and fender, ruined them. Not to mention waisted $5 in gas and embarrassed when i had to tell the manager of the spilled gas.

When filling the gas tank, fuel shoots out of the filler opening when the tank is full and goes on the vehicle and on the ground.

While fueling the pump will automatically click off, but fuel will spill out onto the vehicle, myself, and the ground, huge safety and environmental concern.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel would spew back out of the filler neck without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 39,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While fueling the vehicle, the contact noticed fuel spraying out of the opening into the fuel pump. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

Each time i fill my jeep with gas there is a gushing of gas at the end of fill up. Each time i fill it up the jeep doesnt want to take the gas either. It was when the vehicle is stationary at a gas station.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While fueling the vehicle, fuel spilled onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to walker chrysler dodge jeep and ram (5757 coliseum boulevard, alexandria, la 71301, (318) 618-0103) where it was diagnosed that the fuel filler neck and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the 2007 and 2008 jeep wranglers received the manufacturer warranted replacement for the fuel neck and the fuel tank; however, the 2009 wrangler was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000.

While fueling the vehicle, after the pump auto-shut off engages, copious amounts of fuel are propelled from the tank inlet; spilling on the vehicle, service station floor, and sometimes the driver.this recently started and has happened repeatedly since the initial time, at several stations and several pumps.our other vehicles do not display this behavior.

Fuel spills out after fueling.

The past 3 times filling up the 2009 wrangler, fuel gushed out of the tank when the pump shut off.i tried different fuel pumps each time, and they were not the cause.i looked on line and found out that this is a known problem and recalled on the 07 and 08 year groups, but not recalled on the 09 year.this is a problem that chrysler should fix immediately.

Couple things.while in motion in 1st gear, the vehicle will pop out of gear suddenly, making a loud clunking noise.also, when filling up the tank, it will overflow.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While refueling the vehicle, it experienced an overflow of fuel. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel tube was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.updated 03/07/17*lj

Everytime i fill me tank fuel spits out of the filler neck. It doesn't matter if i fill the tank slow or fast. I have tried many different gas stations and still no luck. Its so bad that it spits up over the entire rear quarter panel, the ground and your cloths and shoes if your not aware its going to happen. From my understanding there is the same problem with the 2007-2008 and they are recalling the tanks.

Gas comes out while fueling the jeep.the gas spills all over the side of the jeep and is causing a hazardous condition.it does it every time i fuel the jeep at the gas station.it does not matter what gas station i go to.it does it all the time.

When filling my vehicle with gas it over flows after the nozzle shuts off.causing gas to spill on me. My vehicle and the ground i have seen numerous complaints on this vehicle.

Gasoline spit-back after pump automatic shutoff. Repeated incident, occurs every fill-up, at different gas stations. Seems like the pump nozzle sits haphazardly in place. The jeep regurgitate a fair amount of gas, which gushes out all over the gas cap, side of the car, and bumper.

Gas overflows every time i fill up.

Bought my 2009 wrangler x 2 door automatic with 13k miles and perfect condition with all the bells and whistles. Signed loan papers and drove around the corner to my work to fill up on gas. While pumping gas, gas squirted back out of the filler neck and covered my pants, boots, the side of the jeep and ran down the paint and onto the tires and rims as well. Gas everywhere!had no change of clothes and nothing to wipe gas off the paint, tires, and plastic fender. Extremely dangerous! every fill up results in gas spewing out onto the jeep and ground and if my wife, kids, or me isn't paying attention then we are wearing the gas as well. Thank god no open flame or kaboom. I see fixes for 2007/2008 but apparently other years suffer as well with this dangerous problem. Immediate fix needed. May consult legal advice on this matter as dealership refuses help.

While fueling my vehicle the automatic shutoff on the fuel nozzle shuts off and shortly after fuel begins to come back up out of the jeep and down the side. Has happened numerous times.

There is no safety stop on the fuel line. Every time the tank is filled it overflows spilling gas everywhere. This is not new, but finally reporting it. There are tons of people complaining about this on the internet

When refueling the pump always stops even if empty, this makes it very hard to know if it's already full or if it's just acting up. This has been happening for a couple years now, and it happens 100% of the times i refuel. I have read in forums this is a very common issue and some years have been fixed. This is a potential fire hazard since fuel spills are very common with this problem.

Gas tank over flows everytime i fill gas tank, goes all over the side of the car, all over the ground and gets on me . It's dangerous, wasteful and is damaging the finish on the outside of vehicle. Mfg says it's not covered under any recalls.note: happens regardless of which gas station , which setting on the pump handle or how far the gas nozzle is inserted into filler tube. Internet search shows other years have been recalled for condition.

Intermittent fuel overflow when filling the gas tank.at first it was a once in a while thing, maybe once every 10 fill ups, but recently has started to be a recurring issue.about 2-4 cups of gas will come out of the filler neck, dripping down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground.some of this models from previous years had a recall or safety update that replace part of the fuel filler tube to include a check valve.i have talked with other jeep owners with the same model year that are experiencing the same issue and have read about others having this issue as well.i contacted chrysler to inquire about getting the fix for the earlier models applied to my vehicle and was told that due to the age and mileage, certain things are expected to need replacement and as a vehicle owner, i need to be responsible for that.i understand that, but when the replacement part that is needed is controlled by chrysler and not available for sale to private individuals, this becomes another issue.luckily, i was able to find a dealer that would sell me the recall replacement part.

When filling tank, fuel overflows every time.have tried to decrease flow towards the end, but nothing seems to work.seems like a huge safety issue with fuel spilling on every fill up.

When gassing up and the tank is full, fuel frequently squirts out and runs down the side of my vehicle onto the ground. Several times it has splashed on my clothes, shoes, and skin. This is a safety hazard. This started in about 2011 and has continued off and on since. It is more prevalent in cold weather.

Gas sprays out of filler neck during fueling of vehicle. During fill ups gas will spray out of filler neck before the gas nozzle can shut off automatically. This results in having gas sprayed on myself, my jeep and all over the ground.this is not a safe situation.

Gas is ejected out of fuel filler when tank is filled everytime. I have tried several different stations all with the same result of about 3 cups of fuel ejected on car and the ground. Two service stations have asked that i do not return because of the fuel spill danger this creates at the service station. I have contacted jeep and two dealerships both acknowledging that they are aware of the problem and recalled the 2007 and 2008 wranglers for this but 2009 has not been added to the recall. This is a fire and eviromental hazard to humans and the enviroment.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the filler neck valve would spew gasoline when attempting to refuel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel tank was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Same issue as with 2007-2008 jeep jk fuel spits out when done fueling, no changes to fuel system so why only have a recall on 07-08 and not all jeep jk?

When filling fuel tank, gas back splashes and goes everywhere. It happens every time i fill fuel tank. You have to stand back or you will get it on you.

When filling the fuel tank and when the gas pump automatically stops due to the tank being full, a sizeable amount of gas spills out to the pavement.it had initially begun as a sporadic occurrence a while back which i thought to be related to certain stations but for several months it has occurred every fill-up regardless of where i have gone.the amount of gas is enough that i need to clean it up at the station off the ground and around where the pump connects to the jeep.

Every time i fill the gas tank up the gas pump shuts off and all the gas in the filler neck comes back out all over me , the jeep and all over the ground.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that fuel spilled out of the filler neck while refueling the vehicle. The failure was experienced numerous times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.

Starting last fall, the vehicle spits back a cup or two of fuel every time i fill up the tank.

Cracked fuel tank, found through a smoke test

I just purchased my 4 door, 09 wrangler on thursday march 13. I first had to fill it up that saturday the 15nd. When i did, the gas tank clicked off but gas still came pouring out of the tank (not the nozzle). I was incredibly irritated i just bought this jeep and now there was gas pouring down the side and fenders. After cleaning it upi chaulked it up as faulty equipment at the gas station . However, the next 2 times i filled up, the same thing happened. This is incredibly frustrating. Not only is it dangerous but its disgusting. Not to mention these vehicles aren't cheap, we don't need to be worried about gas eating away at the vehicle as another expensive. I've heard there are several complaints regarding this issue and that chrysler refuses to address it. I find this embarrassing on their part and shows poor business practice.

Everytime i fill up for gas and have it use the automatic shut off the gas tank overflows out of the tank and over my car, i have talked to other jeep owners and this is a very common problem.there is a recall for 07 and 08 wranglers but seems that there needs to be a recall for all wranglers because it happens to a lot of people no matter the year.

Whenever i fill my tank up, the gas spills over onto the car, the ground, and myself. About a quart spills over so could be potentially very dangerous.

Gasoline splashes back from tank upon filling, spilling fuel on me, the vehicle, and ground.this happens at every gas station with every fill-up for the last 4 years.dealer says there is no problem.

When fueling my 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited (sahara), gas spews back out of the tank following the auto shut off of the gas pump.this is my second fill-up since purchasing the jeep new and it has happened both time.it occurred at different gas stations so it isn't a problem with the pump or nozzle.the jeep is not properly ventilating the gas and detecting the level so as to prevent the gas blow back.

Recurring problem of fuel overflow spillage at the gas pump for the past year.regardless of which fuel station i use, the pump does not shut off automatically causing fuel to spill out of the vehicle onto the ground.in researching the problem it appears it may be based on a faulty manufacturer part (fuel tank).if this occurs on other jeeps, the fuel spilled at these gas stations create potential tph contamination on the property.i am concerned with the role i play on a potential benzene plume in groundwater due from spills at gas stations as well as the damage i am doing to the exterior of my vehicle from fuel spilling over the side causing accelerated corrosion on the body of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving approximately 63 mph, the hood latch detached and caused the safety latch to open. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, used a cargo strap to secure the hood, and drove home. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

2009 jeep wrangler. Consumer states problem with hood latches *tgwthe consumer stated while driving 70 mph, an 18-wheeler passed in the opposite direction going approximately the same speed, when suddenly the front end of the vehicle began to shake violently. When it happened again, he then noticed the hood violently bouncing up and down. The consumer found a customer satisfaction notification on the internet regarding the hood latch.

Transmission overheating.took vehicle (3.8l v6 4x4) in for trans cooler line replacement.was told by dealer's service department that cooler line connection parts were bad (note: this is a recall item on the 2009 3.6 l engine).

On the 6 speed manual transmission the 2009 jeep wrangler will violently slip out of 1st gear into neutral when accelerating from a stop. I have had this happen fairly frequently since i purchased the vehicle in 2009. When this does occur it is a very loud noise and the force of the shifter coming out of gear can injure a hand.

Linkage broken that engages and disengages transfer case. Bushing and cable has been replaced several times.

The transmission oil temperature got hot and boiled over.i believe this is due to jeeps poor transmission cooler design.it is on the bottom side of the radiator and does not receive direct air flow to keep cool.

Vehicle repeatedly jumps out of first gear from a dead stop. Transmission violently shakes the vehicle and jumps the vehicle into neutral leaving the driver with no power in the middle of an intersection. Trailing vehicles are forced to slam on brakes, or swerve to avoid my vehicle with no forward momentum.

The jeep caught fire from what is thought to be vegetation caught up and under the skid plate.the vehicle was being driven on and off road.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the transmission malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to specify why the failure occurred, but stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned that the transmission was previously replaced three times for the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not offer any additional assistance. The failure mileage was 171,907. The vin was not available.

Cracked exhaust manifold drive side, broken bolt on passenger side exhaust manifold

Transmission pops out of first gear routinely.it is a safety concern and occurs when crossing traffic at turns eliminating drive to wheels and leaving operator vulnerable to injury or death from oncoming traffic.jeep has issues tsb tsb 21-001-10 rev a but no recall. This is a known issue with many vehicles with same transmission.there will be injury or death from this one day.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that after shifting into first gear, the transmission slipped abnormally, accompanied by a loud noise. The contact mentioned that when the failure occurred, the vehicle would shake violently and without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving at a very low speed, there was an abnormal noise coming from the gear shifter as it independently shifted out of the first gear. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission assembly and multiple parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to part unavailability. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000.

Transmission overheats when driving uphill even in the snow. (needs a tranny cooler). Air bag sensor failed. Not covered but same part failed in 2007 and is covered by warranty.

While driving on highway at approximately 55-60 mph my jeep has started to violently shake and shudder after hitting a bump. It will only stop shaking after pulling over to the side of the road and slowing down to 15-20 mph or stopping all together.the day it started we were taking a trip to new orleans and it happened 6 or 7 times in less than 100 miles.i will be taking it in to the dealer in the morning, but after a quick search of the nhtsa database it seem this has been a regular occurrence and recurrence with jeeps for many years.luckily we were on a secondary highway when this occurred and not on a major interstate at 70-75 mph (yet).the wife is now terrified to drive the vehicle and i'm not to comfortable with it at this point.to make matters worse we're being stationed overseas and planned on letting our son in college use the vehicle which doesn't seem like a great option at this point.we've also noticed, for the past few weeks, the manual transmission will jump out of 1st gear when taking off.i looked forward to owning a jeep 4-door for some time and this is rather disappointing and i wouldn't have even considered buying it if i had been told this would happen, especially with less than 20,000 miles on it, none of which are off-roading miles.i believe jeep should have to warn it's potential customers if they do not want to bother fixing an obvious design flaw and should have to remove all their "trail rated" badges from all vehicles.it's no wonder chrysler is having financial troubles since they can't make a 4x4 that can handle a bump.

Manual transmission pops out of 1st gear on acceleration forcing the driver to quickly put into 2nd gear. This happens without warning and does cause a safety hazard. If the vehicle stalls out when going into 2nd gear it could easily cause serious injury or death.

When accelerating from a stop/near-stop, the car will violently jump out of gear. The first time it occurred i thought i was rear-ended. It is difficult to intentionally repeat: the only pattern is that it is a first gear, accelerating from slow speed issue. Beginning to be intimidated to pull into traffic. It is increasing in frequency and severity. Lithia dealer says it is a jeep issue. Jeep says it is a dealer issue. I miss my 1999 sahara.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that after the starting the vehicle, the first gear slipped. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified if the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. The vin was not provided.

Under normal driving of the jeep in four wheel drive high range, the transmission warning of overtemperature comes on.this is to warn of a high temperature and help prevent the oil from overflowing onto the exhaust and causing a fire.this warning happens everytime the jeep is driven in four wheel drive high range on any sandy surface.this is a defect in the proper sizing of the transmission cooler.i have spoken with numerous persons with the same results.the dealerships response is to change the transmission cooler with the aux cooler now offered, but this is a the owner's cost.i was instructed by a claims agent, [xxx], at chrysler that there is no recall so they declined my claim.it is disappointing that i want to be proactive in preventing a know issue with my jeep and the answer is that there is no recall so the are declining to address.please let me know if there is more information that i can give on the situation.thanks for your time.

2009 jeep wrangler. Consumer states problem with transmission *tgwthe consumer was informed by the dealer a recall hadbeen issued due to the transmission light not functioning properly. The consumer stated had the warning system been working properly, he could have stopped and prevented excessive damage to the transmission.

When pulling out into the road after stopping at a stop sign the transmission slipped out of 1st gear. It was dangerous as i lost my ability to accelerate when i needed it the most (crossing a busy road). It has been slipping or popping out of 1st gear w increasing frequency. I took it to a transmission repair shop and they found a service bulletin posted by the manufacture of essentially a known issue that other people were complaining about the same problem. The jeep has 28k miles on it and is in great condition otherwise. Apparently this is a known defect and not causes by normal wear and tear. This problem has the potential to cause a serious accident. The dealership won't fix it under warranty and i feel it should be covered as this problem is both a safety issue and known defect.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly shifted from first gear to neutral. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was told although the failure could not be duplicated, they could install a first and second gear synchronizer. The vehicle was at the dealership at the time of the complaint awaiting the part. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The current mileage was approximately 25,000.

Brought my jeep to an automotive shop to have crank case and transmission oil changed. They discovered that the rear drive shaft was in dire straight. There are 16 bolts; 8 at each end that keep the drive shaft in place. 1 was completely missing, 12 were broken (in multiple places on multiple bolts) and 3 bolts were all that was keeping the drive shaft in place and they were all attached to the rear of the shaft.the shop insisted that i see it first hand and that they had never seen anything like it before. I was completely horrified, there is no telling how long it had been that way. I am not hard on my vehicle, i don't hot rod, off road or go mudding. There were no indications of a problem and the jeep service department didn't discover anything during their "umpteen" vehicle point inspection. The only thing i can figure is that the factory torqued the bolts too hard or used defective equipment or both. The complacency in quality control is disturbing; my life matters and there is no telling what might have happened if that part decided to let go.

Couple things.while in motion in 1st gear, the vehicle will pop out of gear suddenly, making a loud clunking noise.also, when filling up the tank, it will overflow.

First gear pop out

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where a manufacturer voluntary safety recall repair was performed on the vehicle, associated with the notification code of j31. Me and my dad were driving on the expressway and it was 65 miles an hour all of a sudden the jeep started shaking violently and it did it 3 times while we're on the expressway. The jeep was doin the death wobble and both of us were shaken up. The brakes went out and had a hard time stopping. It's ridiculous and i think that these parts should be recalled. I'm gonna call detroit tomorrow.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and noticed a lost of pressure. The contact decided to fill the vehicle with brake fluid; however, he later noticed brake fluid leaking underneath the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic and was informed of an unknown recall regarding the brake line leaking braking fluid. The certified mechanic diagnosed that the brake line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called whitten brothers chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 10701 midlothian tpke, richmond, va 23235, 804-378-0707) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

My brakes went out when driving it down the road. I took it to pope davis and they said the hydraulic hoses went bad causing the callipers, rotors, and pads to go bad.then i found out there was a recall on this but when i called chystler they said my vehicle wasn't affected. Yes obviously it was. I spent $800 on having the hydraulic hoses, callipers, pad, and rotars replaced.

The contact owned a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving 25 mph, the brakes failed to work. The contact had to pump the brake pedal because it traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. The contact pulled into a parking lot and turned off the vehicle. When the contact attempted to restart the engine, the vehicle began to smoke and then caught on fire. The contact exited the vehicle immediately. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was totaled. The contact called a customer service line and thought it was the dealer. The contact was transferred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer provided a case number. The dealer was not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 123,808.

On 17 apr 2017 i was driving70mph on us-31 & hit a bump & my jeep went into the "death wobble" & i had to slow down & go to the shoulder. The steering wheel shook very bad. Ie: the local jeep dealer called it the "death wobble"!

Travelling on a straight road at approximately 50-60mph, hit a small bump in the road. The steering wheel began to shake a little then violently and almost lost control of the jeep. I had to come to a compete stop in the middle of the road before the shaking would stop. I was scared too death. I had the jeep checked over and nothing was broken or worn. Now afraid to drive the vehicle. There are many complaints on this site as well as the internet for the same issue. When will this be addressed before someone gets killed?

I was driving home at 60-65mph from baltimore with my cousin, fianc and aunt when i hit a minor pothole. The entire steering wheel/front section starts to violently shake and i was unable to stop it until i stepped on the brakes and slowed the car down to almost 25 mph on the highway and almost drove off to the side of the road. This happened 4 other times following that incident in a matter of 2 weeks? time. Finally i called the dealership where i purchased the car. They told me it was the steering dampener and that i would have to replace it. They also told me that i had to pay for the part, even though i had purchased an extended warranty from them. I was told that this was very common on jeeps and although there have not been any reported deaths, i am positive this will one day lead to an accident and /or death. This is a very serious defect on jeep's part and they need to address the issue before they kill someone. By the way, my car only has 37k miles on it. Still fairly new!

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number 13v234000 (power train, steering) had exceeded a reasonable time for repair. The dealer advised the part was not available for repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact did not experience a failure.

While driving on the interstate the vehicle began shaking and the steering wheel shaking uncontrollably. It is not the first time it has happened and the dealership tells me that there is nothing wrong but obviously there is. I see all over about people all having the same problem. My vehicle is completely stock this should not happen. There needs to be something done about this problem before someone gets seriously hurt.

As the jeep was brought up to speed it began shaking violently and out of control as the speed approached 50 mph. The shaking continued as i braked to a stop. The vehicle is unsafe to operate with this "death wobble". The problem is repeatable and happens at the same speed occasionally when bumps are hit.

Every time since february when i hit a bump the jeep starts shaking violently.i keep hearing of it being the jeep death wobble.it has torn up my tires and affected many parts and now i can not even hit a bump at 30 mph without it starting to shake. Not sure what to do to fix. I called my dealer to see what they suggested and they had never heard of the jeep death wobble which chrysler had apparently sent out a notice to all companies about it.i have heard of several complaints on this. My jeep is stock and never been modified and never been taken off road. It is a family vehicle and now i just want to get rid of it!

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel suddenly began to violently shake causing the driver to nearly lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering stabilizer bar was defective. The vehicle was repaired. Also, the contact indicated that while driving the front driver side tire suddenly deflated. After inspecting the vehicle the contact discovered that the tire air valve was fractured. The contact indicated that the defect recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 68,000.

Let me mention, that i bought this jeep brand new, and started having steering problems about 4 months after purchase. It would pull to the drivers side, and when hitting uneven payment or bump, felt as though steering wheel pulled out of my hands.learned early on to hold steering wheel very tightly.took it to the dealership and was told my tires needed rotation and set air pressure.mileage at this point was 4734. Over time, learned to avoid potholes, uneven payment or any rough road.when i did take it in to dealership, was told they could not imitate my problem.still making monthly payments on the jeep with this continuous problem was getting really old. On 11/25/11, 2 years and 4 months of putting up with this crap, took it into dealership again. The steering was getting more out of control and i would not allow my teenage son to drive it because i didn't feel safe.at this point was told needed tires rotated again, air pressure check, rear disc brakes and rotors needed, also was told needed front and rear differential fluid service.had to decline, cause at this point, total was already up to 325.63.they wanted another 195.00 to do it.on 6/4/14, during inspection, was told i need new tires.mileage was 26,753.had enough tread to pass.they wanted 1017.00, went to costco, same tires for 300 less. 2/21/14, more steering problems, this time needed new damper, steering damper weak plus transmission fluid cooler lines needed replaced.6/14/14 steering/suspension exhaust heat shield separated on right side hitting off muffler, also front and rear diff. Service. Cost 568.42, 8/14/14 battery died. Getting to point, on 9/12/14, on pa i 79 turnpike, had my first official death wobble as i have heard.lucky for me, had a shoulder to pull over to until it stopped.scared the s--- out of me.whole front end shock so violently, unreal.

While driving north on bertrand drive near west congress street in lafayette, louisiana, at approximately 40 miles per hour, the front wheels and steering wheel began wobbling violently.i maintained control of the vehicle while slowly driving into a parking lot.i performed a cursory inspection of the vehicle, but did not observe anything wrong.i researched the problem on the internet, and learned that the "death wobble" had resulted in chrysler issuing technical service bulletins, but not a recall.i reported the incident to my local jeep dealer and to chrysler.chrysler informed me that because a recall had not been issued, chrysler would not have the vehicle repaired at no expense to me.

While driving approximately 45mph i experienced a violet shaking of the steering wheel and could not control the vehicle until the speed slowed to approximately 15mph. I researched on the internet and someone said jeep used a bolt smaller than the hole on a track bar that connects the front axle to the vehicle and this gets wallowed out and causes this.

Vehicle would occasionally experience a violent shaking from the front wheels when traveling approximately 50-60 mph.seemed to typically be initiated by small bump in the road. Only way to stop the shaking was to almost come to a complete stop . Less than 10 mph.took vehicle to mechanic who determined the steering stabilizer was defective.

While driving at 55 mph on a slight turning radius, the right front started to vibrate, then it went to the left side, back to the left side, back and forth.each time it transferred, it increased.the severity of the wobble effect. I had to put a "death grip" on the steering wheel to maintain control of the vehicle.the only way that i could stop the "death wobble" was to pull off the road and stop the vehicle. It was like a demon took control of the vehicle.the next day the vehicle did the same thing while i was driving with my daughter(age 29). This time on a straight section of road going at 45 mph. She thought that the tire fell off!again, the only way that i was able to stop the wobble was to stop the vehicle.both of these incidents could have ended in serious accidents! this is a well maintained stock vehicle with balanced tires.

I experienced a classic "death wobble" as described on jeep problems.com.extreme shaking from side to side and loss of ability to steer until i slowed down below 20 mph.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving at 55 mph, the steering wheel shook violently. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

At highway speed (50-70 mph) vehicle would shake violently after hitting a bump.vehicle needs to come to a complete stop to correct the wobble.after a little on line research, i discovered "death wobble."service writers at both milosch palace jeep and al deeby jeep knew right away what i was talking about.i cannot believe there is not a safety recall for this.it seems everyone with knowledge of jeeps is aware of the issue.this is very dangerous on highways\interstates, especially for inexperienced drivers, because the vehicle needs to come to a stop to in order to stop the wobble.i am sure no one really cares what i have to say, but jeep is very dirty on this one.i am a 45 year mechanical engineer in the automotive field. Can someone please tell me why there has not been a safety recall for this?

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel began shaking violently as the entire vehicle began shaking abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician advised the contact that a wheel alignment would need to be performed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs on several occasions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

Bought a used 2009 jeep didn't know anything about a death wobble. I was going down the interstate at about 60 mph hit a bump and the jeep started shaking violently. Almost got hit trying to get off the interstate and stop. It does it every time i hit a bump in the road. Now i don't know what to do becasue we bought it used.

Today while driving down the road with kids hit a bump in road at 35 mph and the jeep went into death wobble. Then something broke and i lost all steering power and could not turn wheels. Almost had a wreck.when i got the vehicle to a place to look at it the steering box had broken off.

Cpsc: i1440019a. 2009 jeep wrangler xl. Consumer stated that around 32,000 miles, his vehicle developed what is called the "death wobble", uncontrolled shimmy at highway speeds which only resolves by braking and coming to a near stop. After great effort, chrysler reimbursed the consumer $849.07 of the $ 1793.47 he paid to have the entire front end rebuilt.*lnthe dealer replaced the steering damper with an updated assembly which required different hardware, to fix the problem.the consumer filed a complaint with chrysler for reimbursement, for $336.67. They reimbursement him for the parts only. The consumer continued to experience problems, so the dealer did a complete examination of the vehicle, and found all 4 ball joints and drag link were out of specifications.

While driving down the highway @ roughly 55 mph, my 2009 jeep wrangler hit a small bump in the road.my steering wheel began violently shaking side to side.i immediately pushed on the brake and tried to safely slow the vehicle without causing the vehicle behind me to crash into me.i pulled-over to the shoulder.this vibration referred to as "death wobble" occurs each and every time i am traveling between 55 and 60 mph and, i brake or hit a bump in the road.it is an awful sensation.

I drove over a dip in the road at approximately 45mph and my car started shaking uncontrollably. I truly felt the car was coming apart and i would wreck. I let off the gas and the shaking stopped. I have since discovered the "death wobble" and feel this is exactly what happened to me.

I got what is describe as the death wobble its what the mechanics say.its all over the internet. I want to know if this problem is this big why hasnt there been a recall. Ive been told this very common. Is jeep/chrysler waiting till people die to admit theres a problem or just covering it up.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Warning light for airbag system is activating every 30-50 seconds.contacted my service department, they stated it is a "clock spring" in the steering system.apparently, there are many claims for this from jeep wrangler owners.

Death wobble at approx. 45mph.

I have a 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited x, purchased new. A few years after purchase i began experiencing 'death wobble.' a mechanic's diagnostic stated my track bar was bent and my bushings were worn and needed replacing as a result of all the violent side to side shaking. This was repaired at great expense out of pocket. This repair seemed effective for some time before the speed wobble started up again this past year. During one episode, the harsh shaking caused my left side blinkers and brake light to fail. No one should reasonably be expected to operate a vehicle when it has the potential to suddenly, unexpectedly, uncontrollably, violently, harshly, and dangerously start shaking, especially while in operation at highway speeds. I avoid driving on the highway anymore because i can't keep up with the flow of traffic before jarring shaking will start. Any driving is now increasingly dangerous to me, my passengers, and other nearby drivers. The uncontrollably violent shaking is difficult to control, frightening, and forces me to abruptly pull over, greatly increasing my chances of being severely injured or even killed in an accident. It is not right for jeep owners to suffer this. This is a known issue for jeep. They should be liable for and reimburse jeep owners any and all costs associated with repairs, alternate transportation, injuries, deaths, distress, or any other conditions or complications arising from, related to, or otherwise resulting from 'death wobble.' causes for this hazard vary, so diagnostics and repairs can be extremely lengthy and costly, not to mention repairs needed for other areas of the vehicle worn and damaged as a result of such aggressively unsafe shaking. This is not standard wear and tear, but a serious, dangerous and potentially deadly issue that should be addressed and corrected by nhtsa, the center for auto safety, lawyers, and courts.

Hit railroad tracks at approximately 55 mph. Front of vehicle started to shake uncontrollably. Took to dealership which changed steering dampener. The same problem happened approximately two weeks later. Two more trips to the dealership with no solution.

Death wobble as shown on websites, going 50 or so miles per hour , front end wobbles uncontrollably!!uncontrollable, extremely unsafe at time ,when shaking and wobble starts!!!has almost caused an accident on each of the <<<3>>> times this has occurred!!!why is nhtsa and jeep waiting for people to be killed before something is doneto help everyone on the highway with this obvious safety issue??? very scary and frustrating. Think of your family's life as well as all of us!!! we are all at risk . How many lives need to be lost????

Death wobble, uncontrollable violent shaking between 30 & 50 mph. Serious safety issue at highway speeds being unable to control the vehicle's steering out of harms way. I have had it to two different dealerships three different times and i'm told that there is nothing wrong with it. It's obvious that there is a problem and i'm not the only one with this issue. A quick internet search on jeep death wobble will confirm this. Chrysler needs to be held accountable and fix this problem before someone gets killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Experiencing "death wobble" when driving over a bump at 40-50 miles per hour. Not safe to drive in

Around 30,000 miles i would notice a slight shimmy in the front end at freeway speeds when a small bump was hit. This would usually last a few seconds and then drive normal. I read some thing online about this and it seemed like it was a normal thing for this 4dr jeep model.in early march 2014 about 39000 milesi hit a big bump on the freeway and the front end shimmy was so intense i thought the front passenger tire was flat at first it seemed like it was coming off.a few hours later this happened again before i made it home.i did research and found the references to the "death wobble" and knew that's what it was. I was thankful no one else was in the car with me.another jeep owner i know knew the term and had heard about these problems.then april 1st hit a bump i could not avoid on the pot hole infested milwaukee streets and it happened again the tire felt like it was coming off and almost had accident in the construction zone i was in.called dealer and they knew exactly what i was talking about.apparently chrysler switched the dampener/brackets after the 2009 yr models when they noticed problems.funny how that replacement i had to have done cost me $ 400+.you would think if they know there was a problem this wouldn't cost the consumer a penny.especially since it is my life in jeopardy.

The jeep has less than 40.000 is and is not used off road. About 55mph the front end gets a out of control wobble. You have to slow way down for it to stop. It has done a few times before. The last time it was 4/29/20.the track bar was replaced with oem part and still does it. It seems to be a problem with a lot of wrangler jeeps. I don't know if it is a design flaw. Doing some research it seems to be a problem with jeeps. This jeep it completely stock with the same tires it came with new.

Vehicle shakes uncontrollably around 55 or when i hit a bumb , took the jeep two the garage and explain what was going on and was told it was the tires so bought new tires and wasn't the problem , i looked up the death wobble and seen many people with jeeps have had the same problem and jeep chrysler won't do a recall and they should because this can very much cause an accident when you have no control , this is left up to the owners whom thought they bought a good product to figure out and pay to fix a problem that jeep chrysler should of fixed in the first place but it's all about profit and not safety !!!

I was driving on the highway around 65 mph during rush hour traffic.i hit a bump in the road and the front end of my jeep felt like it was violently bouncing from side to side.i could hardly keep the vehicle in my own lane.i was terrified.i got off the road as soon as possible.i got out, looked at it and saw nothing wrong.i called my husband, and he would not let me drive it home.he drove it to our mechanic, and other than my brakes needing work, he found nothing wrong.the mechanic fixed my brakes and i took it home.the next time i took it out, it did it again. My mechanic took it back, drove it himself, and the jeep did the same thing.my mechanic did some research online and said it was the "death wobble".he tightened some bolts on the bar that aren't the right size for the vehicle..it didn't help. Now i have a jeep that i am afraid to drive, and really can't afford to fix, if it can even be fixed.from what i researched online, it seems to only get better for awhile, then the problem returns.why isn't jeep taking care of this problem?do people have to get injured or killed before they do something?the lemon law may be my only option if it can't be fixed, and i may have to keep the vehicle for some time before that could go through.please do something about these jeeps with the "death wobble".

Jeep "death wobble" steering wheel oscillates violently back and forth at various speeds after hitting small bump in road, car taken to jeep dealer tsb which calls for larger steering stablizer installation done, all suspension parts found to be good including tires and balance, however, problem still occurs, fear for life for myself and family when driving car especially in winter.

I have experience what is commonly referred to as the "wrangler death wobble" on over three occasions.these are dangerous situations where the steering begins to wobble uncontrollably side to side.the violence of the wobble increases quickly making it tough to hold onto the steering wheel and maintain control, especially if this occurs in multi-lane roads.increasing speed results in the wobble becoming more violent.the only way to recover is to brake quickly and bring your vehicle to a near stop (at least under 5 mph) before the wobbling subsides.the "death wobble" appears to be brought on by the jeep tires hitting a pot hole, railroad crossing, or other rough spots in the road at a slight angle.usually around 35+ mph.faster speeds, such as highway (55-75) do not seem to create the issue but accelerating to enter a highway does, and has in my case as you pass between 30-40mph.to recover the driver aggressively apply the brakes (without warning to those behind them) as the wobble severity increases quickly.this creates a safety issue.the wobble also has an adverse affect on the steering dampers which soon begin leaking fluids from the violent wobbles.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph over a road bump, the front passenger wheel shook abnormally. The failure was recurring.the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the mechanic diagnosed that the steering stabilizer shock needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

I own a 2009 jeep wrangler.over the past year and a half, i have experienced increasing issues with my wrangler in that it begins to shake uncontrollably when i am driving above 50 mph and hit even small bumps in the road.this past summer i had it worked on twice in order to address the issue.my car has been in storage since september and i drove it for the first time this past weekend.today (12/23/14), i was driving on the freeway and in less than 30 miles, the car began shaking 3 different times.each time this happens, i have to bring the car to a complete stop (obviously, this is difficult, and sometimes impossible, on the freeway).the situation becomes very dangerous to myself and the drivers around me.i have made no modifications to my wrangler.

My wife had just taken our 2009 jeep wrangler to the dealership for routine maintenance, which included an oil change and tire rotation.on her way home from the dealership the vehicle started shaking dramatically so she pulled off the road and called me.i told her that if the tires were rebalanced then a weight might have fallen off causing one of the tires to be out of balance and told her to try and drive it home at a slow speed.she was able to get the vehicle home and the shaking did not happen again.a couple days later she took the jeep back to the dealer and asked them to recheck the tire balancing.they indicated that one of the tires was out of balance so they fixed it and we thought the problem was solved.a couple weeks later i was driving the jeep at about 55mph when we hit a small bump in the road and it started a rather violent shaking and wobbling in the front end of the vehicle.i had to slow down significantly to regain control of the vehicle.my wife took it back to the dealership and they drove the vehicle but said they were unable to get it to duplicate the shaking and they indicated that there might be a problem with the drive shaft.i started driving the vehicle more often in order to take note of all the conditions present when the shaking occurs and to try to diagnose the problem.i was surprised when i started to research it on the internet and immediately found several websites discussing a condition referred to as a "death wobble".the symptons described are precisely what we have experienced.there is a violent shaking and wobbling of the vehicle and you have to slow down immediately to regain control.our jeep is stock and no after-market modifications have been made to the suspension system.i consider this to be a significant safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately.

Three times in the past week, driving on highway at about 55, started the jeep death wobble. Had to stop in traffic to stop wobble. Still looking for issue. Tires were rebalanced, still getting death wobble.

Severe vibration when over 40 mph. Mainly after hitting a pot hole. Death wobble !

In august 2013 my jeep wrangler began to develop an unpredictable, uncontrollable, violent shimmy at highway speeds. Sometimes a small bump or a lane change would set an event off. Shimmy did not stop without hard braking and coming to a near stop. Commonly referred to as "death wobble". The first attempt at repair, mileage 30,381, was to replace the factory installed steering damper with a upgraded steering damper.the new steering damper required different hardware to install. My cost, $366.77 which chrysler reimbursed the cost of parts @ $266.77.i am $100.00 out of pocket for labor costs to replace this defective part which was installed at the factory!the problem of uncontrolled shimmy was not fixed! the second attempt to repair my vehicle, mileage 32,982, was to balance and rotate all tires.the problem was not fixed!the third attempt to repair my vehicle, mileage 33,902, involved replacing all four defective ball joints and a defective drag link assembly. Cost to me, $1793.47. Chrysler eventually reimbursed the cost of parts @ $849.07. On this repair i am out of pocket $944.40 labor costs to replace defective parts as installed at the factory! i have filed a complaint with the better business bureau (case #9919310) and the case is still ongoing.no vehicle operated under normal conditions should have to have major components, which affect vehicle control and safety, fail and need replacement at less than 34,000 highway driven miles!i do not read anywhere on my service receipts stating the parts that have been replaced carry any warranty. I am very concerned that genuine jeep parts are of the same quality as originally used by jeep to manufacture my vehicle, and will fail again within the next 30,000 to 35,000 miles, if not sooner!

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler.the contact stated that there was a loud, unusual clunking noise and vibrations from the steering wheel.the failure was more pronounced when driving at slow speeds.the vehicle was taken to a dealer and the steering gear was replaced.the remedy lasted for two weeks and the failure recurred.the contact stated that the failure was due to the steering gear box. The vehicle was not further repaired. The vin was not available.the current and failure mileage was 29,000.

I was on gratigny pkwy, in miami florida going about 58 miles per hour and when i was crossing the over pass towards i-75 north the front tires began to bounce vigorously like if the front end was going to fall apart. I slowed down and got to the side but it did not stop shaking till i came to a complete stop. It seems like this should not happen to a vehicle with such low mileage, but the warranty is over of course.

Violent shaking of the steering wheel when the jeep goes over a bump in the road. This is a regular occurrence. The last incident, the hazard lights on the dash panel came on and have not been able to turn off since then. Happens mostly on the highway or when the vehicle is traveling at 45-55 mph.

Anytime you hit a pothole or bump in the road the vehicle goes into a violent shimmy/shake. When this occurs you must exit the roadway immediately and come to a complete stop before you can gain control of the vehicle. This vehicle is straight from the factory, no modifications have been made. I work in a garage on vehicles and have knowledge of mechanics of vehicles. There is no ball joints, tie rods, bushings etc. That has wear that would be responsible for this vehicle to have this dangerous issue. When you contact jeep, they say to replace the steering stabilizer shock. There is a design flaw in the jeep. This is why i have had to replace the steering stabilizer shock twice so far.

I purchased a 2009 jeep wrangler new. I have not modified my car in any way, nor have i ever taken it "off-road or four-wheeling". ' in march 2014 i experienced my first "death wobble",' an extremely violent, shaking of the front wheels. Since then, it has happened numerous times, resulting in repairs (that still haven't solved the problem) totaling over $2000.00. I'm hesitant to take it in for repairs again because no one knows how to fix this problem and i don''t have the money to keep making repairs for an unknown problem.chrysler/jeep needs to recognize this as being a safety hazard. I've researched this extensively and i am not the only one experiencing this problem. The only time it happens is when i'm going 40 mph or more, primarily on the highway. The only way to re-gain control is to slow down quickly and pull over or come to a complete stop (which could result in an accident on the highway).chrysler/jeep must recognize that this is a serious safety issue and provide a remedy/recall and monetary compensation for this problem.

Violent shake that made me feel like the jeep was going to fall apart...extremely dangerous and unsafe...this happened all of sudden...i did not hit anything to make this happen...chrysler needs to do a recall since this has happened about 15 times since i purchased the vehicle less than a year ago....it does it even at 55-60 miles per hour... I have taken it to several mechanics to be fixed...joints, bars, shocks, and tires have been changed numerous times and it continues to shake violently.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while traveling 50 mph, the contact drove over a road bump and the vehicle experienced an extreme wobble. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred several times after the initial repair. The manufacturer was not contacted about the issue. The failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph and going around a bend when the vehicle began to shake violently. The shaking would only stop once the vehicle was brought to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised the contact that the steering stabilizer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

I was driving on the interstate going 65 mph and all of a sudden the jeep started shaking uncontrollably. I thought i was going to wreck and i was in a panic. I slowed down to an unsafe speed to make it stop. Then i exited and checked the vehicle out to my surprise everything was fine. So i got back on the road and continued on. Then i had to exit and it started doing it again. This time is was so violent i thought i was going to go off the exit and crash. I have never had a lift on my jeep or anything it is all manufacture parts. I believe with all my heart that jeep has made a faulty front end. When i contacted them they said they didn't know how to fix it. Please recall this it is very dangerous and going to get someone killed.

While crossing 2 lanes of on coming traffic in the middle of the day the abs, esp and traction control lights came on and would not let me push the gas along with the right front brake "locking up". Because of the traction control coming on when i accelerate from a stop, even slowly, the engine responds as if i was slipping and losing traction, sputtering power and then all of a sudden it just stops.now this has happened a few times within the last couple of days which is very scary considering there is absolutely no warning and can happen at any speed while driving. I have read some other forums on this issue and it seems to be pretty common with the make, model and year of this vehicle. This should not be taken lightly and should be fixed by chrysler as it is a manufacturing defect.

While driving my vehicle down the interstate for about 10 min at a speed of about 72miles per hr, my jeep started shaking from the front and back.it was so intense i felt as though i was going to crash.i have had tires blow and u joints go bad and this didn't compare.i don't drive in a rough terrain and not often at these speeds.but i felt as though i had no control.when i decelerated to 50 the shaking had stopped.there had been no previous warning of this problem.when taking it in to get looked at the dealer said there was nothing wrong.the next day i took it in for the same problem and my universals need replaced, axle seals are bad and my drive shaft needs to be replace.

Driving at 50 mph and faster, when the vehicle hits a bump the steering starts to shake uncontrollably. The wheels shimmy from side to side and only stops when the vehicle slows to below 40 mph, and in some instances only stops when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. This is extremely scary and dangerous especially when it occurs on the highway, as you need to weave through traffic at a high speed to find a safe place to pull over. This issue is well known throughout the jeep community, as it has it's own nickname the "death wobble". Chrysler has acknowledged that this has become a common issue among their vehicles; however, has done nothing in the form of recalls or service to help customers fix the issue. In a report by abc news, they stated that there have been over 600 reports of the same issue i have experienced. I brought my vehicle to a chrysler certified auto shop to get it fixed and they could not identify the problem. They did a front end alignment on my car saying that might fix the problem; however, it did not. The "death wobble" has occurred in my vehicle 5 times since the initial incident in april.

My jeep has the death wobble. I have had it in the shop twice to get it fixed and spent over $3,000 so far to fix the problem and it has not be resolved! new parts and new tires have not helped. Someone is going to get hurt or killed. It happens all the time.

Driving north bound on interstate 89 in new hampshire approximately 65 mph, drove over a bridge abutment and the front end of my 2009 jeep wrangler start to violently shake. The violent shaking didn't stop until i slowed to 30 mph.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving over 40 mph, the entire vehicle began to shake uncontrollably. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle shook violently.the accelerator pedal had to be released in order for the contact to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The front suspension bushing was replaced. Also, the contact had an independent mechanic perform a front end alignment however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle continued to shake violently. The manufacturer was made a ware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.updated 12/21/12 updated 01/09/13

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the windows fogged up quickly especially when it rained outside. Additionally, there was water in the vehicle along the front and back floorboards. The carpet was constantly wet which caused her feet to slip off of the pedals while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer several times where they sprayed water, replicated the leak, and replaced seals; none of the repairs prevented the failure from recurring. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. Pictures are available if needed. The current mileage was approximately 15,600. The failure mileage was approximately 12,400.

I have a 2009 4 door rubicon.i am experiencing major rust on the body under the doors, and with oxidation on non steel parts such as the mirror hardware and tire valve stems.i experienced the oxidation from the very start of owning the vehicle.in general event some bolts on the inside of the vehicle have rust on them.chrysler is not will to do anything about it.

Hood patches don't hold the hood secure it comes loose at hyway speeds

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler.the contact stated that while traveling 65 mph, the hood latch failed and partially. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was not taken to an authorized dealer for inspection.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the failure and current mileage was 52,000.

Gas tank skid pla rusted through. Gas tank ready to fall off 2009 jeep. 88k miles and parked in garage. Pieces missing and cracked lengthwise and widthwise

Driver's side (left) exterior side mirror fell off while driving on a city street. Mirror fell into road way posing a hazard for other drivers. Upon recovering mirror i found that the structural base that attached the mirror to the body was severely corroded away and it broke where an attaching bolt affixed the mirror to the mount not at the point the mount attached to the vehicle. My selling dealer covered this under our chrysler extended warranty with a $100 deductible. But this is a common defect and poses a safety hazard both to the owner and others around the vehicle or other drivers.

My wife took my wrangler to get gas and when the guy pulled out the nozzle gas sprayed out and some got on him and my jeep this is actually the second time this has happened the first time was 2/20/14 same gas station different guy.

I have had this jeep in to the dealer 5 times now for the same problem. It is only 2 and a half years old. The first time i brought it in was approx 4 months after i bought the truck brand new. They have yet to fix the problem. When you drive approx. 55 mph on a highway, and possibly hit a little bump, the car will shake uncontrolably. You cannot hit the break or it gets worse but sometimes your forced to because you will crash otherwise. The whole front end wobbles to a point where you loose all control of the vehicle. The dealship stated the first time after it happened that they fixed it... The other two times they said the same thing . The fourth time they decided to say it was my tires. ( i dont know why they all of a sudden changed the problem). Rotating the tires fixed the problem for about 6 months until i had to bring it in again and they now state they can't find anything wrong with it. But apparantly there is. Very fed up with the whole situation. And very nervous driving the truck.

Experienced "death wobble" twice in past month - uncontrollable shaking of front end at speed after hitting minor bump in highway.almost caused accident.had to slow to near stop on highway for shaking to subside.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle struck a bump in the road and wobbled violently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the stabilizer bar, pittman bar, and stabilizing shock absorbers failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired again. A dealer (advantage dodge ram chrysler jeep 3200 e. Main street, farmington, nm 87402) was contacted, but did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to nhtsa. The contact did not file a complaint with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

As the jeep was brought up to speed it began shaking violently and out of control as the speed approached 50 mph. The shaking continued as i braked to a stop. The vehicle is unsafe to operate with this "death wobble". The problem is repeatable and happens at the same speed occasionally when bumps are hit.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving various speeds over a bump in the road, the front of the vehicle began to shake tremendously. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that tie rod end bolts, trac bar bolts, and the ball joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000. The vin was unavailable.

Today while driving down the road with kids hit a bump in road at 35 mph and the jeep went into death wobble. Then something broke and i lost all steering power and could not turn wheels. Almost had a wreck.when i got the vehicle to a place to look at it the steering box had broken off.

Three times in the past week, driving on highway at about 55, started the jeep death wobble. Had to stop in traffic to stop wobble. Still looking for issue. Tires were rebalanced, still getting death wobble.

My jeep has the death wobble. I have had it in the shop twice to get it fixed and spent over $3,000 so far to fix the problem and it has not be resolved! new parts and new tires have not helped. Someone is going to get hurt or killed. It happens all the time.

Death wobble in suspension while driving.has happened since owning vehicle.the vehicle will begin to uncontrollably shake in a violent manner at a speeds at or near 60 mph.the wobble is persistent and well documented on the internet.jeep refuses to officially accept a problem exists even though wrangler owners have complained in thousands of posts viewable online.i have had my jeep in multiple times for this and the problem still persists.

I have a stock jeep.i have spent thousands to fix the jeep death wobble and the mopar track bar is not strong enough to stop it!i have replaced it 3 times this year!!this has been an ongoing issue for the last 2 years!i love my jeep but may have to give it up!

The front axel is week and bent during off road use.jeeps are designed and sold for off road use.when i drove down a road with some ruts and dips the front axel bent causing the wheel alignment to be permanently off.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle until the speed was reduced to 5 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that some front end parts needed to be replaced. The contact was not aware of the specific parts that needed replacing.the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the mechanic but the cause for the failure was not determined. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 103,000.

Severe vibration when over 40 mph. Mainly after hitting a pot hole. Death wobble !

I experienced a classic "death wobble" as described on jeep problems.com.extreme shaking from side to side and loss of ability to steer until i slowed down below 20 mph.

Known as the "death wobble." this has occurred four times to me on the interstate traveling approximately 50-70 miles per hour. Had to come to complete stop before the severe shaking from the front end and steering wheel would cease. Very dangerous and it is a huge safety issue that the manufacturer must address and stop denying happens. They should also repair the car free of charge. This has happened to me on sept. 12, 2015, oct. 4th, 2015, oct. 13th, 2015, and october 25, 2015. All incidents occurred on the highway except for the first incidence which was on a regular road going about 25 miles per hour.

Death wobble, the front wheels will shake violently at around 55 mph or lower speeds when i hit a bump or anything on the road that makes the tires wobble. This happens at least 4 times a week.

While driving at highway speeds and upon hitting rough road conditions the front on the jeep begins to shake uncontrollably.you must slow or come to a stop to make it go away.this has happened four times to me.it is by far the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me in 50 years of driving.the dealer has told me it was worn dampeners and replaced them.of course this did not happen for the first 50k miles, so i must wait until the conditions appear again to see if the problem is solved.

I drove over a dip in the road at approximately 45mph and my car started shaking uncontrollably. I truly felt the car was coming apart and i would wreck. I let off the gas and the shaking stopped. I have since discovered the "death wobble" and feel this is exactly what happened to me.

Experienceing the well known death wobble in front suspension at speeds around 50 mph. Have tried multiple fixes yet condition still remains. Also will go into death wobble at other speeds if hit a pothole or bridge to road gap, hump or bump in road.this jeep has no custom modifications. 2009 jeep wrangler with only 26000 miles, new tires, have experienced this death wobble shortly after purchasing it new from the dealer. I also own ram trucks and fixed the death wobble on my 2005 ram with new track bar bushings. Bushings in my 2009 jeep show no play at all.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While driving down a hill on abridge, the front end of the vehicle started to wobble rapidly and experienced the "death wobble". The same failure recurred two weeks later as the front end started to wobble again going down a hill. The contact stated that two lug nuts detached from the front passenger side tire due to the vibrations from the "death wobble". The contact researched the failure on the internet and called an independent mechanic. It was diagnosed that a shock in the front end rods or steering dampener caused the failure. The vehicle was repaired. An unknown dealer stated that there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 102,600.*dt

When it hits a bump around 40 per hour, it wobbles uncontrollably.

Usually after hitting a bump, the tire(s) begin to shake violently and do not stop until slowing down significantly or coming to a complete stop. From what i've researched, this appears to be a common problem with jeep owners and can be very dangerous. This started a few months ago on my jeep and appears to happen more frequently.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, he drove over a road bump and the vehicle shook violently. The contact had to apply immediate pressure to the brake pedal to control the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and a lift kit was installed on the suspension. The failure recurred approximately 14,000 miles later. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The contact also stated that various dealers offered no assistance. The failure recurred repeatedly. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 13,000.

I was traveling at 65 mph when i heard a sound from the rear passenger side. I immediately pulled over to discover my tire was completely flat and the valve stem had come loose. This is the second time this has happened, the first was back in november. The time span for the latest incident was approx. 10-15 seconds. A rapid deflation. I had just put new tires on the jeep in nov. Now one of them is destroyed. I talked to two jeep dealers since the event on 3/8/13. Both of them said that there is a problem with these parts failing in northern states due to corrosion and that if " i lived in california, this would not be an issue." i was offered new rubber tmps stems for $433.00. Not satisfactory. I feel i was lucky that this was not a front tire!

Dead wobble on jeep at 50 mph suv starts shacking like it's going to roll over

I got what is describe as the death wobble its what the mechanics say.its all over the internet. I want to know if this problem is this big why hasnt there been a recall. Ive been told this very common. Is jeep/chrysler waiting till people die to admit theres a problem or just covering it up.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited x. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph and drove over a road bump. The front end of the vehicle began to shake and vibrate violently, causing difficulty in maintaining control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the front end damper shock was replaced. The failure mileage was 14,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact was driving 50 mph when the front suspension failed, causing the contact to momentarily lose control of the vehicle.the contact called the dealer and the dealer advised him to bring the vehicle in for inspection. The vehicle was replace the front passenger side damper. The dealer replaced the same exact damper six days prior to it going out. The contact stated the dampers are poorly manufacturer and does not feel safe driving the vehicle after it's repaired. The failure mileage was 54,000.

After driving a short distance and parking, i returned to find one tire flat. I changed the tire and returned home. The following morning i checked the damaged tire and found the valve stem missing. I drove to a service center and had the tire removed. The stem (with speed sensor attached) was loose inside the tire. We checked the remaining three wheels and found all wheels had badly corroded stem nuts, and that one of the nuts was cracked into three pieces. Removing all stem nuts damaged the sensors and all had to be replaced. The "new" parts are all of the same materials as the original items, thus i will have to replace the sensors, stems, and stem nuts every 2-3 years unless a fix is initiated.

The tire pressure monitors and valve stems in the jeeps need to be looked at.we have had two literally "blow out" of our tire in less than 2 months.the last time my husband and son were traveling on the highway and lucky they weren't hurt or killed as after it blew out the tire shredded and they ended up on his rim.i called chrysler/jeep and they have me a case #.our local jeep dealer and a local tire store apparently told me this is a common problem that the valve stems/monitor rust and the seal isn't good on the tire anymore so they blow out...we could replace for $80 if we wanted...however there is no guarantee it won't happen again.only way to fix it is to replace all monitors with rubber valve stems.i wasn't willing to wait on the "case" and have my family's safety at risk so i had them replaced on our jeep.of course chrysler says there is nothing else they can do now b/c we handled it ourselves.we weren't asking for money or for them to pay -- all we want is to make sure this doesn't happen to someone else.they are aware of the problem and won't do anything about it.someone is going to get killed.these can blow out at any time or place.my husband and son are just lucky.please help get this problem taken care of before someone gets injured or dies!!!

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the plastic tire pressure monitoring sensor on the front passenger tire detached and the tire blew out. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the contact was informed that the tire pressure monitoring sensor on the rear driver's side was also detached. The contact was not informed why the failure occurred. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. While parked, the contact noticed that the tire pressure light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated the rear passenger side tire pressure sensor would have to be replaced. After the repair, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic stated that the spare tire and the rear driver and passenger tire pressure sensors were fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that all five tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) stems were rusted. The valve stems for the spare tires were also rusted and the tire had never been used. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where they confirmed that the valve stems needed to be replaced.the contact stated that the valve stems were not covered under warranty. The valve stems were not replaced. The failure and the current mileages were 16,000. Updated 2/4/13updated 02/22/2013

While traveling on highway valve stem fell into rim this ,i believe was caused do the fact the steel rim has a lip that holds water if the valve stem is in the six o clock position it sits in water /the only way the water can be removed is by the rim turning ,the rim is steel ,the stem is aluminum the lock nut is aluminumall of these different metals mixed with water creates a corrosion (electrolasis) problem inside the rim the valve stem connects to the tpms sensor on other model jeeps the valve stem is rubber it seems to eliminate the corrosion problem i called jeep case#25386092 offered no results.updated 4/24/15

I drove over a dip in the road at approximately 45mph and my car started shaking uncontrollably. I truly felt the car was coming apart and i would wreck. I let off the gas and the shaking stopped. I have since discovered the "death wobble" and feel this is exactly what happened to me.

Driving to work at 5 am, and hit a uneven patch of pavement and front end of jeep began to shake violently; like both tires went flat.i inspected, but tires were not damaged.after a few more days of this happening on regular occurence, i made appt. At authorized dealership in my hometown.they inspected and said steering dampner went bad.a couple days later, same problem started happening again.made appointment and dealer suggested that balance and rotation was needed to correct problem.had that done and problem started up again very next day.made another appt. With same dealer and they inspected.i was told the dampner that was installed week previous was bad, so they replaced it again.when they finished installing second dampner, i asked what next step was if this didn't remedy issue.they simply told me "we don't know.replacing dampner and balance/rotation of tires usually fixes it."while searching the web for similar issues associated, i came across article an article about the jeep "death wobble."after reading thru numerous online forums, and watching related videos, it would appear that my jeep is experiencing exact affects.called chrysler and registered complaint on 11 march 2013.oddly enough, they have never heard of the "death wobble" nor had any recent complaints of these issues.this vehicle is very unsafe to drive!!!!

Every few minutes the airbag light comes on witha chime then goes away after a mile or so comes back on

Air bag light turns on and off randomly.

So on my 4x4 transfer case the bushing keeps popping off i have had to replace it 4 times and keeps leaving me stranded and having to crawl in the mud after getting stuck and putting it in 4x4 and have had it come off going down rd

Left front turn signal works intermittently, power windows work intermittently, radio works intermittently. Was told it was the totally integrated power module. This seems to be a very common problem on the jeep wrangler

My 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited x was struck at approximately 35mph almost head on. On a city street moving straight.no air bags deployed. This jeep has had at least three clock springs replaced and is on a clock spring warranty for life. The jeep had no signs clock spring failure prior to the accident i.e. Airbag light nor check engine light. Although wearing seatbelts my face struck the steering wheel and i was injured.*dt

Death wobbleshakes terribly while driving and most often after hitting a slight bump.

When driving at 50 mph or above ( highway speeds) and hit a bump the whole vechile will shake so vioently that you think you are literally going to die. If you step on the brakes, it only gets worse.on the outside the tires wobble in out out, looking as though both axles just broke off. I have had mine in and out of the shop over 10 times and has been out of service for over 2 months. I wil get it back from the shop and within a week of having it back the death wobble ( shaking of vechile) is back and only gets worse. I have taken my jeep to a different dealership then i bought it and they found that the liftkit that was already installed on my jeep before i bought it brand new had missing parts and they used a lug nut for a nut on it. They don't know what is causing it. They are just throwing parts at it.

On an inclined boat ramp w/pontoon and emerg brake engaged discovered loose disengaged shifter. Google search led to discovery deteriorated shifter bushing. Same as recall v34. Manually maneuvered shifter on transmission in order to drive home. In google search for remedy, saw countless posts from jeeps with same issue which could easily be safety related. Was excited when i saw v34, but wasn't showing up for my jeep. What constitutes a recall for one vehicle and not another when the issue is identicle?

Bought a used 2009 jeep, when taking off it jumps out of 1st gear.

For the past 2 years, whenever it rains, water flows in from the top left corner of both front doors. Also, if my vehicle is parked and it rains, next time i drive it water absolutely pours in all over me and the passenger seat, or my passenger.

I was delivering mail, and while stopped at a box i noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. I pulled into the nearest driveway, and got out of the vehicle just before the engine compartment went up in flames.

As with hundreds of other left hand steer jeep owners, our airbag light is on, horn does not work, and cruise control is inoperative. Nhtsa and jeep have deemed it okay to repair these problems on the right hand steer which is a very small percent of all jeeps. Get on it, start the recall, it is unsafe, and why should we have to pay the price when jeep/dodge/chrysler know this is an issue. I have been trying to get this fixed and talking to other 2009 owners since march of 2010. Let's go.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 72 mph, the accelerator pedal was released however, the vehicle would not decelerate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,900.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that heating system failed. The contact stated that the vent at the driver side failed to provide heat, and it caused the defrost system not to operate as normal. The vehicle was taken at to an unknown dealer for a diagnostic, which advised that the heating switch cord and the door heating system actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer advised the contact the vehicle was not included in the manufacturers visibility recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin information was not available. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph the tire pressure light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact noticed the rear passenger side tire was deflated. The contact replaced the tire with the spare tire. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnose that the valve stem had fractured causing the tire to loose air pressure. The mechanic replaced the valve stem. The valve stem on the spare tire was also replaced with a rubber valve stem. The contact noticed the valve stem on the front and rear driver side and the front passenger side tires were also cracking. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

My jeep has the death wobble. I have had it in the shop twice to get it fixed and spent over $3,000 so far to fix the problem and it has not be resolved! new parts and new tires have not helped. Someone is going to get hurt or killed. It happens all the time.
