I amcomplaining about what seems to be a common problem with chrysler. I have a 2002 jeep wrangler that now needs a clock spring repair.my horn was not working when i tried to use, then my airbag light came on.this has caused my air bag system not to work and it needs to be replaced.the cost is $300.00 and i feel really should be addressed as far as all air bags. Due to its safety of the driver and what these clock springs are doing in the chrysler vehicles! this should be a repair covered by chrysler.. I called chrysler and told them i found a safety bulletin #0801001 that warned about clock springs in my wrangler and jeep liberty. They said there was no bulletin. I found the bulletin on your web site. I would like your input please. Thanks .mike.

I was driving down the highway at about 65 mph and a lady pull out in front of me to cross over the intersection.my jeep hit her vehicle on the passenger side and my hood flew up into the windshield, bumper fell off the vehicle and entire side panel was ripped back to the door and neither of the airbags deployed.i felt like this was unusual due to the damage, so i wanted to research the problem.the estimate so far to fix my vehicle is over $7,000.no one wasinjured.

All in one minute both things happened while on the way to take my son to the er. My horn and then airbag light came on. Took to dealer and they said clock spring. They replaced at $300.00 then still not fixed. They then said its my airbag control module at a cost of $510.00. I am getting upset and broke.

My airbags did not deploy when i was involved in a head on collision that ended up totaling my vehicle.

Daughter involved in single car accident in which 2002 jeep wrangler rolled over 3 times and landed nose down in ditch. The air bags did not deploy. Complaint was issued to chrysler, they stated that the front end has to be hit just right before air bags are deployed. My daughter was almost killed and don't believe that statement was true. I feel it is in fact faulty equipment and after reading these reports , i feel that some kind of compensation is due. My daughter is still suffering bad head aches and back pains. I asked for $50,000. And was ignored.*la

I was in an accident in october 2002 with my 2002 jeep wrangler x. I hit the person in front of me going about 40mph, and was then hit from behind. Neither airbag deployed, nor did the seat belt tighten. I hit my head on the stearing wheel.i tried to file a complaint with daimler-chrysler corporation and was told since my vehicle was already being worked on there was nothing they could do about. I was in another accident august 8, 2003. Someone pulled out in front of me on the highway and i hit him going about 55 mph. The airbags again did not deploy. I am trying to get an answer out of daimler-chrysler again and they keep giving me the run around about it.

While driving approximately 35 mph, somehow the vehicle hit the rear of a school bus.the front air bags did not deploy.the driver's chest hit the steering wheel.the passenger's head hit the dashboard.no one was transported to the emergency room.please provide further details. *ph

For a popular on and off road vehicle which has a reputation for strength and durability, why would the frame, the very foundation of the entire vehicle, be so susceptible to rusting out and making said vehicle unsafe to drive. Not cool , jeep, not cool.

The contact owned a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle overheated and smoked started to emit from the engine compartment. The contact mentioned that after the driver attempted to inspect the vehicle by lifting the hood, it engulfed into flames. The fire department was contacted and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was declared destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would contact her at a later date. The failure and current mileages were 173,000.

Vehicle oil pressure dropped to 0, check gauges light came on. I pulled over to park and ride lot and turned vehicle off assuming loss of oil pressure. Waited 15 minutes and tried to start it again, would not start. Checked oil dip stick and discovered antifreeze mix, opened oil cap and saw coffee-colored mix. Dealership i had it towed to at the time stated at cylinders 3 & 4 had cracked, was not owners fault as this was a common issue with cylinders heads with casting 0331. Would not repair as it was not a manufacture recall. Meanwhile vehicle is inoperable. I looked up this issue and it i see over 500 responses for the same vehicles 2000 year and up with the same problem. This should have been a recall.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. While the vehicle was at an independent mechanic, the contact was informed that the valve cover gasket was defective, leaking, and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

While exiting the offramp from a highway, i downshifted my jeep wrangler.the clutch went on me, and i proceeded to pull off the highway.before i could stop the vehicle, an extremely quick fire erupted from under the engine, and spread to the cab, completely placing myself and girlfriend in a life or death situation.within minutes, the entire jeep was engulfed in flames, with us barely escaping.have had no cooperation from the dealer, or chrysler.the vehicle was in perfect running condition, which leads me to believe that there was a mechanical error.chrysler had the vehicle inspected, told me that it wasn't their fault, but has yet to explain what actually was the cause.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the cooling component was defective. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the cylinder head was fractured and would need to be replaced. Chrysler originally offered to reimburse ferry fare required to take car in for a safety recall.i have submitted receipts and chrysler has now refused to make the reimbursement.chrysler's reference code is 11552946.

I own a 2002 jeep saraha 4wheel dr 2dr approx 87,000 miles original ..my dash lights frequently go off and on while driving on the road..this causes havoc when driving at night as dash lights and tail lights go out..off and on not always continually..to remedy i have to hold the switch for the turn signal slightly to get back on while driving to a place i can stop..i have tried to order the part from a dealer and aftermarkets ..however part is on back order 6,000 and waiting list is quite extensive..is there a recall out there for this part?? 6,000 on back order is ridiculous shouldn't there be? this problem started about 3 days ago.

I was driving on the palisades parkway going about 60 mph and the accelerator pedal stuck and would not return to idle. I was able tp pull to side of road and shut vehicle off. When vehicle was restarted the idle was over 4000 rpms. I am an ase certified mechanic and on inspection found the throttle body seized open. Throttle body will need to be replaced. This could have been very serious if traffic was heavy or an inexperienced person was behind the wheel.

Last night a fire truck (hook and ladder) showed up in my driveway. I went out to see what was going on. As i walked out the door i noticed three firemen looking under and around my 2002 jeep wrangler. When i asked what was going on the firemen indicated that there was a strong smell of gas reported by on of my neighbors! turn out the smell was gasoline and was indeed originating from my 2002 jeep wrangler. We brought the jeep into the shop and the dealership was able to diagnose the cause and informed me that there was a solenoid purge value associated with the fuel system that went bad and when this happens the excess fuel is discharged out the exhaust system and that was what we were smelling. The failure of this component causes the vehicle to run rich, foul spark plugs, reduce mileage and yes, there's the concern over the excess fuel, not to mention the "check engine light" was also now on.the jeep has ~32k miles and is now past 3 years (3yr/36miles) however we purchased the "extended warranty" which as it turns out does not cover this failed component. Cost $180.00 to us.my concerns: 1. Fire hazard? the smell was very strong! strong enough to warrant a visit by the local fire department! 2. Fuel economy....$2.15/gallon for 87 octane3. Environmental concerns? the way i understand it is the excess fuel is routed straight out the exhaust system! do i really want to go off reading with this vehicle spewing excess gasoline out the exhaust as i take in the sights and sounds of the road less traveled? my question:is this component failure common? is the failure mode environmentally friendly? are there any concerns to my well being in the event we have a recurrence? has anyone seen this before?

At start up, vehicle shakes and sounds like injectors are missing, not taken to dealer yet. Vehicle taken to dealer 3 times, however dealership cannot duplicate problem.vehicle boggs and runs rough/hesitates when cold.rear portion of soft top located near bottom of tailgate has gap.rear weatherstrip adjusted.

The 2002 jeep wrangler caught on fire while driving on i270 around st louis and burned to the ground. The fire started underneath the vehicle.i have before and after pictures. Complete pictures of the vehicle after the fire. R.a. Bott, special investigator for jeep, claimed no malfunction by jeep.this was a fuel line explosion in that the fuel line ended up with a pin hole leak and sprayed fuel on the catalytic converter and the wrangler caught fire and blew up minutes after i got off the road.thank you to a vehicle that alerted me to the fire coming out the back of the vehicle as i was driving.

Going down the freeway about 60mph around 5:30pm. Feel some humming from the vehicle follow by a loud high pitch.then heard a loud band and parts started to fall on the freeway.the car was still moving without power and light.i was on the third lane of a five lane freeway.cars behind me slow down and allow me to pull to the side.i was stop between an entrance and the freeway.after exam the car with the shop.the transfer case was broken into pieces.called jeep and was told to toll the car to a dealer.after dealer confirmed the transfer case was broken into pieces with no clue.jeep refused to pay because warranty was due on 2004 even knowing the vehicle has only 6500 miles on it.this jeep was parked in the garage most of thepast years.and every time when i came back from oversea.oil and filter change were service on the car.i don't believe a 6500miles transfer case will just blow up.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in the recall under nhtsa campaign number: 13v234000 (power train , steering). The dealer was contacted and stated the part was not available; therefore, the vehicle was not repaired. There are no failures at this time. The vin was not available. The current mileage was 13,000.

The 2002 jeep wrangler has approx. 85000 miles on it. Never used off road - just to and from work. Problems with gears on 2002 jeep wrangler.***no answer required***. *mrwhile driving on a beach with the gear in 4 wheel drive high the vehicle suddnely came out of gear and the consumer could not get it back into gear.the jeep had to be towed out of the sand.the vehicle was taken to the dealer.the dealer assured the consumer that the repairs would be covered under the 3 year-36000 mile warranty. After the vehicle was inspected the dealer refused to repair the vehicle under warranty because they felt the vehicle had been abused.the consumer contacted the manufacturer several times but they refused to provide any assistance.

Frame rusting out

The automatic transmission has very harsh engagement and produces a loud clicking noise.over the past several weeksi have had my 2002 jeep wrangler in the service departmentand the repairs have notbeen performed satisfactorily. I am told chrysler will not authorize the repairs or the replacement of the defective parts. The vehicle is still under full factory warranty, the transmission should be replaced if it can not be repaired.

In 4-low trying to get out of snow in a 2002 jeep wrangler, the axle broke for no apparent reason. This is not being covered by warranty since i was told it happened when spinning tires hit pavement, although i never did get to pavement.

At 65 mph on i-95 in maryland, the clutch and bearings burned out. All power to power brakes and steering were lost immediately making an emergency stop and steering was very difficult.recent dealer maintenance failed to detect any excess ive wear or potential for failure.

Bad throw-out bearing or noisy nv3550 5-spd transmission.

In manual transmission the fifth gear "dog leg" sticks when shifting from fifth to fouth and back to fifth and does not allow fifth gear to be chosen until you place the gearshift in the neutral position and then shift into fifth

The 5 speed transmission makes a rattling sound when idling in neutral.nlm

When driving onice or snow the 4-wheel drive kicks out, causing vehicle to jerk and potentially slid.no impact had been reported.the vehicle was in motion when it felt as if the transmission dropped out.the vehicle had to be stopped to get back into 4wd.the lever was held tightly and popped out again.the vehicle was driven in 2wd for several miles then was able to be placed back into 4wd and stayed.also, the upholstery had started to tear on the driver's seat and the gaskets on both mirrors deteriorated. *scc

The seat belt folded over in the spade portion of the buckle.it was been replaced twice. Dealer notified.ph

The vehicle experienced a roll over, the seat belt failed to restrain the consumer, which caused him to be ejected from the vehicle, also the air bags did not deploy. Police report taken.

I own a 2002 jeep liberty and noticed that the drivers seat belt button sticks..usually in colder months and it's difficult to fasten the belt (as it will not go into the slot). Not sure if this is covered as i believe its defective. Doesn't' do in summer, just winter. My warranty is expired, i have approx 45k miles on the jeep. How do i proceed? do i just have dealer fix & should it be free of charge since there are other complaints from folks who own the same model/year?

While driving 65 mph in my jeep wrangler on the highway i brake as usual and next thing i know the brake pedal went straight to the floor.i had a total brake loss failure.i pump the brake pedal, but the pedal would not regain stopping power.i swerved violently to the right side of the highway and almost rear ended a truck.i managed to use the emergency brake to slow down my jeep wrangler.no injuries, no property damage...lucky me.the reason for brake pedal loss was due to rust which ate at the brake line over time and then finally the brake line gave out.i had to replace the entire brake lines in my jeep wrangler.very pricey repair.wish i was informed of this safety issue problem.the outcome could have been much worse!

Right front brake line rusted along frame rail causing line to split at which time both right and left front as well as both rear brake operation failed completely.

Corrosion on the rear brake lines caused catastrophic failure of brakes. This is a ten year old vehicle that i bought from the dealer. Fortunately, the failure occurred in a parking lot.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph approaching a stop sign when he applied the brakes but the vehicle did not slow down. The brake warning indicator illuminated after the failure occurred. Thevehicle was driven upon the curb to stop it and then towed to an authorized dealer where the entire rear brake system was replaced. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 06e022000 (service brakes, hydraulic) but the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included. The failure mileage was 144,000.

Pulling out from gas station after fueling up, almost killed a pedestrian walking across my pathway because suddenly without any warning lost all brake functionality due to premature brake line corrosion induced brake line rupture and loss of the entire brake fluid. The jeep wrangler has a 82,455 mile in it. The vehicle also had just a year before inspected (and passed as ok) its brake system by a qualified dodge service station.

Problems with 2002 jeep wrangler braking system.* mrthe consumer took the vehicle to the dealership twice about problems concerningthe brakes, both times they have failed to fix them.please respond promptly in finding a resolution to brake problem.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler.the contact stated that when driving 55 mph or higher, the vehicle would shake violently.the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where several attempts were made to repair the failure, but the failure recurred.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 47,000. The vin was unavailable.

As i was driving about 55 mph the front end started to wobble very violently, i slammed on the brakes and it stopped, this has happened several times and is very scary and dangers thing. I have 3 sons who also each have jeep wranglers and this has also happened to them repeatedly. I have also talked to several other jeep owners with the same problem. This seems to be a design flaw that should have been fixed long ago. I have read online that there has been a lot of complaints made to the government and chrysler with no results. This needs to be investigated and fixed before people are killed.

Violent shaking (without warning) in the front end of my jeep wrangler on a four lane highway during rush hour traffic. Jarring and terrifying, i had to slow down, get over and get to the shoulder without causing an accident. Chrysler has known about this problem and has written a technical service advisory 19-002-12 august 2012 but to date august 2013 refuses to recall and correct this issue. I have a stock jeep (i.e. No lift kits, wheels, suspension components or tires) that would wear on the steering components and i take good care of my wrangler. Be aware and be prepared - i was lucky, i got an elevated heart rate, sweaty palms and i had to drive slowly to a friend's house. This "steering system" condition has caused accidents and roll overs per other reports.

Purchased a 2002 jeep from twin rivers auto sales, i did not receive a vehicle disclosure report and it was sold to me with a control arm bracket that was damaged was not attached to the frame which makes driving the vehicle impossible it is not attached to frame which could have cause other'and myself extreme harm or death. I was not informed of any problem with frame, after purchase the dealership told me to take it to ziebart and it would be undercoated for free, they tried to cover up with the undercoatingwhere the control arm bracket became detached from the frame along with other defects in the frame i was only able to drive the jeep from dealership to ziebarts for the undercoating and then had to have towed to my house due to the stabilizer link breaking because of the control arm bracket breaking away from frame due to rust, . I've tried call the dealership many times with no reply. I am thankful that no one was injured or dead if this would've happened while i was driving on hwy,the purchase price was 6700.00 and then additional 5 new tires 600.00 and two leaking and bent rims at 75.00 for a total of 7375.00 on a unsafe vehicle which the dealership new about . I am extremely disappointed, and frustrated with this situation. I need help getting this resolved but they will not rerun my calls and have hung up on me i have photos and a inspection saying that it was safe when far from being safe point blank this dealership sold me a vehicle that was u safe for others and myself to be on the road so now i am out all of this money and i can't drive the vehicle please investigate this situation so that they can not due business in this manner and i can resolve this with either giving me back my cost of the jeep and tires and rims . I don't know what else to do or who to contact in trying to get my money back it is a lot of money for a jeep i can't drive

Death wobble experienced daily several times a day. I hit a bump or uneven patch of road and death wobble begins it usually starts at 35- 40 mph. I sometimes have to slow all the way to 20 mph to make it stop. I have replaced u joints, rear drive shaft, ball joints, tires, steering stabilizer, tie rods, gotten wheel balances many times, replaced drag link and all bushings. Nothing has helped so far.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in the recall under nhtsa campaign number: 13v234000 (power train , steering). The current mileage was 13,000.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that when driving at least 65 mph, the front end would shake violently. The vehicle was merged to the shoulders to sit for a while before the shaking would stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the contact was unaware of the diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but offered no assistance. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 36,000.

Steering column moves side to side and after repeated movement the tilt steering lever loosens up and the steering column moves up and down.the dealer has made repeated attempts to repair the column but denies that there is a defect.i first noticed the problem in june of 2003 when the tilt steering becmae loose going around a corner.i recovered the vehicle and did not have an accident but was close.when i examined the problem i noticed the steering column moves side to side approximately 1/4".other vehicles that i have examined do not have this much free play.the dealers has attempted repair on this four times but the original steering column is still in the vehicle.i am not currently driving the vehicle as it does not meet maine state inspection standards and the vehicle is unsafe to drive.

While driving at 50/55 mph there was a loud noise, then the left front wheel vibrated.this was caused by the center steering link pin breaking.

Found during vehicle inspection for other repairs. Called chrysler and was told that vehicle had to be taken to a dealer and was givencase# 31813048 dealer inspected (see file below) on 7-10-17 called chrysler 800-992-1997 and spoke with bri, she said that there is no coverage available through chrysler. I find with mileage and knowing that i keep my car inside during winter weather conditions and have maintained vehicle as per chrysler that this should not have happened.

The frame is rotting terribly and the front control arms are about to crack off and the trans/skid plate has already rusted through causing the transfer case and trans to fall off of the frame, vehicle was city driving when this happend

"rusted frame" i bought a 2002 jeep wrangler and theleft side of the frame in the middle where the skid plate bolts in to the frame is rusted out pretty bad and i have a cause for concern for safety. Well i didn't find this problem but i thought the universal joint was causing my bad shake when i pulled the front drive shaft out i noticed that problem. Its a 14 year old vehicle but i don't believe that the frame should be rusted like this.please fix my problem.. The vehicle was stationary in my driveway

The 2002 jeep wrangler has approx. 85000 miles on it. Never used off road - just to and from work. Brought vehicle in for work on clutch and repair shop states that the vehicle frame is rotted through and need to be replaced before transmission is able to be removed.front fenders have rusted through in same spot on each side.

Excessive frame rot due to poor design by manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle's frame was rusted. The vehicle was taken to watermark chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 1055 crossing pl, madisonville, ky 42431, (270) 875-4432), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 200,000.

My frame and suspension have rotted out from the inside out. Its costing me over $6,000 to replace everything.

The design of the vehicle frame was faulty from the original purchase where water and dirt can enter the frame but no way to exit therefore becoming trapped to allow rust to form from the inside of frame. This not only promotes but allows the life of the frame to become dangerously weak and if in a accident not to with stand a impact and create a situation where life or harm to persons increase.

Purchased a 2002 jeep wrangler sahara with 4 miles on it. All required maintenance has been done routinely.this vehicle has never been off road and was strictly a daily driver averaging 12k miles per year.i took the vehicle to the shop for an oil change and the mechanic brought me into the garage to show me the frame was almost completely rotted through near the front suspension.the frame where the cross bracket that holds the transmission in place has also rotted.the bolts in the bracket have nothing to hold onto because the frame has rotted through.the mechanic stated, "you are one pot hole away from a major accident".i brought it to another mechanic who stated "this is a major safety risk and i would not suggest driving it." other than the frame rotting out, the vehicle is in perfect working order with normal wear.i can provide photos if interested.

Water leaks into front passenger side compartment from air conditioner drain hole in firewall.water soaks front carpet, and the drain plug in floor must be removed to allow water to drain out of vehicle.appears foam surrounding drain has failed allowing the water into the vehicle.

Paint is flaking of on fender, hood, door, and rear door.

Jeep frame has rusted in halfin several places costing$3,000.00 in repairs luckily it broke at a low speed without harm to anyone if this happens at highway speeds who knows how many people could have been injured.

The frame is developing severe rusting prematurely as comparative to other vehicles of this age of manufacuture, mileage, driving conditions and location of operation.

Takata recall- driving down a dark county road- lost control of vehicle and went off road and hit a tree- upon impact the jeep burst into flames- the driver was pulled out because she was trapped inside the burning jeep- the jeep was totaled due to the fire

Due to a poor design of side holes but no bottom drain holes, water and dirt, etc collected inside the rear frame section and rusted it from the inside out.

I know the jeep is a 2002, but this rusting, to be this bad, had to have started awhile ago. I went to have two new tires installed and was told by the shop that they could not jack or lift the vehicle due to the rust. This is part of the frame, god forbid if it would have failed. It is so rusted that i can put my finger through the frame in spots. I do not use the jeep for off road activities nor park it in the ocean. I also wash the road salt off during the winter. I have included pictures of the rusted pass side and the not too rusted driver side. This is just an around town vehicle. This is ridiculous and jeep should be ashamed to release a vehicle with such a dangerous defect. I wonder if this is a vehicle from a flood. For this amount of deterioration, i would not doubt it and i will try to find out. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I purchased the jeep 6/04. I purchased it for transportation back and forth to work.it was never used off road.it only has approx 81000 miles and the frame is completely rusted from approx. The back of the front tires to the front of the rear tire.there may be more but we have to completely strip down vehicle to establish if there is more damage.its so bad that you can put a screw driver through and through the frame and the transmission and the tray is disconnected from frame to frame and is completely hanging.scare to drive it.jeep may fold crumble in half.this i definitely a safety issue.if i didn't see all the rust on the driveway i would have been driving and god only know if there could have been a fatality. With the jeep only being 11 years at the time of the occurrence.i find it hard to believe that this could happen and there is no warranty on this that i have been able to find.so sad with out my jeep!!!!

The main right side frame support for the centerline skid plate/transmission rusted from the inside out.this resulted in almost dropping the skid plate and transmission while the vehicle was in motion.i would dearly love to know why jeep sold vehicles that begin rusting where it can't be found until catastrophic damage occurs.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The contact stated that the subframe of the vehicle showed severe rust from the front to the rear of the vehicle. Additionally, the leaf spring on the passenger's side of the vehicle was fractured. The contact also stated that the subframe on the driver and passenger's side of the vehicle showed a 60% fracture. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

Front/rear fenders and front and rear bumpers are fading badly. Dealer refuses to repair under warranty.

Frame is rusting away from inside out, holes are starting to appear around front most driver side body mount. Rust chunks can be seen and removed thru hole within the frame. 12 year old vehicle is too soon to have a frame rusting out. Chrysler should do as toyota has done with their frame rust issue of the north east usa as well as for all jeep owners that road salt has affected the integrity of the vehicles frame and body way too soon.

Frame rust mainly internal with frame failure along transmission mount on both drivers and passengers side.

Frame is dangerously rusted rendering the vehicle unsafe.

Frame is rotten. This has took driving it safely away

Frame rusting out

Frame is dangerously rusted rendering the vehicle unsafe.

Complete frame is rusted out and cannot be drove safely.

My 2002 jeep wrangler tj x, frame rails rotted from the inside out on both the sides and rear curve up of the frame. It was difficult to realize that it was rotting because it rotted from the inside out. While on the outside of the frame looks perfectly fine and paint was still well coated, it was rotting from the inside. The problem did not disclose itself until the bracket got the spring are the axle attaches to the frame broke off when the rot from the inside made it all the way through. When it broke off, it caused my vehicle to crash. There was no foretelling that this was going to happen because the rot from the inside was invisible and not able to be detected. Myself i believe this is a big enough flaw that should become the responsibility of the manufacturer to repair or replace. My jeep was treated like my baby. I took extremely well good care of the entire vehicle inside and out. Inspecting the frame and body every year in the spring to make sure it all paint was touched up and frame parts were kept coated with paint.nowadays pretty much unheard of for only a 12 year old vehicle. When purchased brand new in 2002 at a cost of $21,000, a significant amount of money, but only to last for 12 years is a high price to pay. I believe it's in the best interest that a recall ruling be made for all 2002 and other years that has the internal rotting of the frame rail. Either new patch frame rails be installed, or a nominal amount a money be compensated for the cost of a entire new frame, for those wishing to replace the frame entirely. I believe that if the nhtsa fails to make a recall for this problem, could incur future accidents that could result in injury or even death because of the inability to detect the rotting of the rail from the inside.

My frame and suspension have rotted out from the inside out. Its costing me over $6,000 to replace everything.

A loose bolt in the suspension system caused noise while driving on a dirt road and when driving over bumps on a paved road.*scc *nlm

The frame is rotting terribly and the front control arms are about to crack off and the trans/skid plate has already rusted through causing the transfer case and trans to fall off of the frame, vehicle was city driving when this happend

For a popular on and off road vehicle which has a reputation for strength and durability, why would the frame, the very foundation of the entire vehicle, be so susceptible to rusting out and making said vehicle unsafe to drive. Not cool , jeep, not cool.

While driving between 45 - 50 mph the front tire wobbled violently. The cause was not determined.

Consumer states while driving at 50 mph front end of the vehicle began to shake violently out of control, causingvehicleto fall into a ditch. Causeunkwown.

- the contact states that she received a recall notice (f23), in regard to her lower ball joint. The contact has taken the car to the dealership but they told her that the repair will take a few months. The dealer told the contact that they get only 3 parts a month.

Frame is rusty, not just the outside but is rusting in thick layers of scale from the inside out. Appears to be no drainage holes in bottom side of the frame, while having holes in the side of the frame allowing salt, sand, and whatever road chemicals an entry point while by design restricts the drainage of such elements. The vehicle is still operational, but only a matter of time till structure failure. Won't be seeing the roads this winter.

Floor heater does not warm near center console creating an annoying cold draft on right leg.it's very uncomfortable and creates an uncomfortable driving experience.

Paint is flacking on the hood fenders and rear door.

Consumer states after moving foot off the brake pedal when stopping, the vehicle would accelerate up to 20 mph without applying the accelerator pedal. Dealer and the manufacturer has been notified. Feel free to provide any further information. Mr

Consumer states when the gas pedal is applied it sticks, more pressure has to be applied to gas pedal before vehicle will movedue to an internal coolant leak.

*scc

Window regulator on the front driver's window, front passenger's window and back passenger window has had to be replaced.
