The contact owns a 2008 jeep wrangler 4-dr 4x2. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and they informed that there was not a recall related to the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The airbag light in my jeep stays on because the clock spring is broken. (per the dealership).my speed does not matter.i have put in a complaint with chrysler customer service.
Airbag warning light came on. I had to pay $89 for system diagnostics. Jeep dealership advised me the clockspring needed to be replaced at a cost of approximately $450. Chrysler has recalled right hand side steering models for the same defective part, but will not replace clocksprings on left hand steering models.
The air bag light keeps coming on and off as the car is driven. I have done research and it appears this is quite common in the cars. My concern is does the air bag work or not. My 16 year old child used to drive this car but does not anymore. They recalled jeeps with the steering wheels on the left side with the exact same problem that i am describing. This is dangerous and not sure why no one is forcing a recall on this. I was originally told this was covered in a recall by galeana jeep in columbia s.c. And brought my jeep in to get worked on. When i got my jeep back the light was still turning on and off and i was told it was not covered. This is not good business.
Clock spring broken.airbag light on.
I was on a 1500 mile road trip with my son, half way to my destination when the horn, wipers, sprayers, door locks, etc started going berserk. It was disturbing and hazardous with the windshield sprayer constantly on making it difficult to see the road. The dealership (where i stopped) found that the tipm was going out and needed to be replaced. They could not replace it though because it was on backorder for several weeks. I had to continue my trip through the ca desert, during august knowing that at any time the tipm could fail and leave me stranded. The mechanic informed me of the possibility of a break down or fire. And now i am looking at about $1200, which i can't afford, for a part that was known (by chrysler) to be defective.
Another jeep same year and model had to have all their front end parts replaced too at the same dealership.second water pump in two yearsegr valve replaced but check engine light still onmaintenance was done by the manual with this jeep
The first of many times happened one morning as i was getting into vehicle. The horn, windshield wipers . The wipers sprayed all the fluid in the reservoir. I could not turn these off. After disconnecting the battery, the engine would not crank for some time and the horn no longer worked. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty horn and replaced the clock spring, horn and a fuse. A few weeks later, while driving, the horn, wipers and lights all came on and i could not turn these off! even after removing the key, the engine and all the above would not shut off! once again, i had to disconnect the battery in order to shut these components off. This has happened numerous times since! the dealership is now saying the problem is with the tipm. But, in the meantime, is this vehicle safe to drive? today, i called chrysler customer service and they told me that they would document this. Not good enough! in the meantime.......i am somewhat fearful of driving my jeep for the simple reason of the unknown. Not to mention the embarrassment that this brings when stopped at a busy intersection and my horn and wipers start blaring uncontrollably. This must be stopped and chrysler should declare a recall! please help my jeep is my only means of transportation and i'm very scared of driving it as i'm scared of the unknown that'd it stall or possibly go crazy on me again. This has happened more than roughly about 18 times in the span of 2 months
Jeep basically possessed. Horn goes off, wipers turn on, wiper fluid sprays, door lock and unlock rapidly.(all by themselves). Remains running after turned off and key removed. Periodically shuts off while driving. Problem is tipm(totaly integrated power module). 2007's were recalled for these same issues but they will not acknowledge for the 2008's. I've spoke with several people who had 07's that had the exact same symptoms. Affected part number - 04692236af
Was driving in the city around 3pm and at random, all on its own, tmy jeeps horn started blaring nonstop, wiper fluid was spraying everywhere uncontrollably, wipers were going off on their own but werent functioning properly and the lights were on without being turned on, stayed that way about 5 miles until we got home and disconnected the battery since that was the only way to turn everything off. Next day, around 10pm, driving on the highway i had my beights turned on, after about 30 seconds, all of my lights turned off and the wiper fluid started spraying, wipers were going off, horn started blaring again non stop, disconnected battery again. This is all coming from a defective tipm (totally integrated power module). This is my daily driver and is putting me out of work and money to repair this if chrysler does not issue a recall. This is a huge safety issue that already got chrysler a lawsuit and is probably going to lead to another if they dont fix this and recall these systems. I couldnt see anything while driving either time, especially at night. This could easily kill myself, any passengers or other drivers. I am also afraid that if the battery stays connected it will cause a fire under the hood since i can hear the cracking sound of electrical wires as the lights go crazy without being turned on.
When driving at approx 30 mph car began to overheat.another time, when in traffic, driving 10-20 mph, car began to overheat, coolant liquid in plastic container was boiling.a very small amount of fluid had escaped through the radiator cap and was bubbling on top of the radiator. I stayed pulled over until traffic cleared, then drove home with heater turned on to hopefully keep the fan running.checked thermostat 04/09/12 which was not defective.radiator checked and flushed and found no defect.replaced fan resistor on 04/10/12.still fan does not turn off and on correctly (i think) because problem persists although i don't drive it as much anymore.overheating continues to be a problem and if i am in stand-still traffic i'm afraid now that the fluid will boil again and like other reports, might cause a fire.i couldn't believe it when i read the reports.it was like they were talking about my car.i thought it was just me!
*possible takata recall* but recall was completed and now unknown, reason i say that is the the smoke seemed to becoming from the passenger side near the air bag.jeep was stationary and was started up to drive and began to smoke while parked in the drive way. The smoke smoke continued for approximately 3-4 seconds and was whitish blue in color. After the had dissipated there was a distinct smell of an electrical burn. All windows, blower, ac, heat controls work as normal, radio and speakers work as normal too. I've had my jeep sense 2012 and have never seen or experienced this issue before.
Jeep recall-major electrical issues:horn, alarm, windshield wipers and fluid, lights, locks and windows all these things will just start working on their own-sometimes just by pushing the unlock button.the key doesn't have to be in the ignition and if it is running and all these things start going off like the car is possessed, when removing the key everything stays and and won't turn off-even the car will continue to run-literally run until it runs out of gas.very serious and dangerous issues-this is going to cause a serious accident or death.many other jeep owners have complained about these same issues via the web and nothing has been done.dealerships are acting like it isn't a major ordeal and it needs to be addressed.this should obviously be a recall and it has been continued to be overlooked.these problems can and will occur when the vehicle is stationary, in motion, on a city street or highway-literally all of the above.it affects vision and being able to operate the vehicle safely.although i put today's date on when this happened it has been on ongoing problem for the past 8 months to a year.
My 2008 jeep shakes violently when it hit a rough patch of road.this has happened 10 times to me the first time was 4/06/2011 the most recent time was 3/26/2012.i have replaced the damper bar (3) times, rotors and brake pads.i have taken my jeep to glendale and south county jeep in st. Louis, mo and they tell me i need to replace the damper bar and get new tires.[xxx] from customer care at chrysler has been very nice but not very helpful. I am not convinced this is the problem since reading that many other jeep owners have experienced the same problem.i hope the us government steps up and helps. Please help before someone get killed. I look forward to someone contacting me since jeep feels they do not have a problem.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My son was driving his jeep back to university when gauges started to flicker then go out. He then saw smoke from engine compartment and pulled to side of road. Looking under jeep around motor area he saw flames and backed away from vehicle. The fire spread quickly and engulfed the vehicle completely and it is a total loss. The jeep had no major issues, just something electrical happened and it was over in about 30 minutes.
Vehicle engine started to make so much noise, shut off car and called for tow truck. Vehicle was towed to white plains chrysler.

When i pump gas the tank backs up and it spills everywhere. There is alot of information about the same case online. Very dangerous! it always happens not just sometimes. Here is a link to alot of information about this:http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?114401-pumping-gas...

Gas overflow when filling up my 08 jeep wrangler unlimited (4door). Just purchased 1 week ago - thought first incident was a mishap, but went to another gas station and did the same thing - and a 3rd today. No sooner then the click the gas spills out everywhere. This is not only frustrating but also a hazard and a waste of money.
Strong fuel odor, this jeep only has 8.000 miles on it i bought it used, strong fuel odor in and around jeep. Have it it in the shop 3 times no one can find the problem, i am afraid of a explosion that's how bad the smell is the fuel smell is overpowering, like i said mechanics at a jeep dealer can't find out what it is and with having only a little over 8,000 miles it should not be doing this. The odor of gas can be strong while driving with the ac unit going through the vents and when it is stationary it is even stronger, smell started may the 15th 2019
Fueling nozzel overflow. Gas pours out of tank nozzle before gas handle shuts off. Spilling gas all over car, person filling tank and surrounding area.
Whenever the gas tank is filled, the gas will spurt out of where the nozzle is inserted.when the pump stops, the gas will spurt out of the tank and drip down the side of the vehicle.
Within a few months of purchasing the jeep wrangler, it began randomly popping out of 1st gear.it was uncommon and inconsistent at first.it was returned to the dealer ([xxx]) multiple times and we were repeatedly told they "could not duplicate the issue".they kept the car for weeks on end.finally the tech duplicated the issue and replaced the transmission with a rebuilt.this fixed the problem only temporarily, and soon it began popping out of 1st gear again.on vacation in pensacola fl, the problem got worse and was reported to the nearest jeep dealer.it was determined a new transmission was needed.upon return to houston, it was replaced with another rebuilt transmission by river oaks jeep.within a few months, it began popping out of first gear again.problem persisted until transmission went out and car was rendered undriveable on 5.10.13.towed to river oaks on 5.13.13 for repair once again, where it is currently being evaluated.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Jeep shakes violently at speeds over 50 miles per hour; also known as a death wobble.we experienced this problem 1 year ago.the steering stabilizer was changed by the dealership.almost exactly a year later, april 2012, we experienced the problem again.i personally changed the steering stabilizer again, but the problem persisted the next day.we returned the jeep to the dealership.they changed the tie-rod and aligned the vehicle's front end.two days later, the problem recurred.we have returned the jeep to the dealer again, and they are saying that it is necessary to replace the steering stabilizer again.that will be the 4th stabilizer on the vehicle in a year.it seems there should be some other underlying issue with the problem that needs to be addressed.
At random times when i'm driving faster than 40 mph, my steering wheel shakes violently when i hit even the smallest of bumps. The only way to make it stop is to slow it down to a crawl. Probably happens 2-3 times per week.
While driving on 1-20 about 60mph, my vehicle suddenly began shaking violently and steering was out of control.i just bought my 2008 jeep and got the car fax and maintenance report and everything looked good. Im going on my 3rd month owning this used 2008 jeep & it has happened 4 other times again, and once to my husband. So a total of 6 different times. We have taken it to mechanics so they could tell us what it could be, and i get different answers. They tell me it could be the stabilizing bar needs changing, or need an alignment or check the tire pressure, or i need to change the control arm, or the steering shaft.i don't have this kind of money to be putting into a vehicle that i just bought, and was not cheap and no longer has warranty due to the year expiration. I don't think this is a wear and tear problem. So many people experiencing this problem and clearly a safety related defect that i think the manufacturer should consider this as a recall and fix this problem for us. Jeeps have a reputation of being durable vehicles and last a long time, but now with this problem, im scared when i get in my jeep. I don't' have another car to use and don't have the money to fix this factory problem. We need your intervention because our highways and the owner of these 2008 jeeps are not safe and puts many people at risk every day. Someone please help us!
Death wobble is now occurring on this jeep, as with numerous other jeep already reported to this website.not much else to add, except it's extremely dangerous.
The "death wobble" has occurred at multiple speeds, typically on highway.i have some video recording of this happening even at speeds of 35-50.vehicle begins severely shaking and is not safe at all - driver nearly loses all control.can be induced by braking, by road bump, or apparently just random onset.replaced tires and had suspension work done and stabilizer shocks replaced twice.this has helped but not eliminated the problem and i expect it to deteriorate once again.once death wobble occurs, it can be resolved by either slowing down or speeding up.this is extremely dangerous and one of two known jeep defects that they refuse to correct, with the second problem being the faulty transmissions that pop out of gear.very dissatisfied customer!

While driving this vehicle, along with two toddlers in the backseat,at 50 mph, without warning, the suspension began to shake violently. As ii had never experienced anything like this in my life, my first instinct was to apply the brakes, as i had absolutely zero control of the vehicle. Wrong move!this caused the jeep to hop, and skip , i also lost the ability to steer. I then began to pray for my babies, who had been asleep in the backseat. I removed my foot from brakes, and fought with the steering wheel until i could crawl to a stop in the middle of the road!!! i was so shaken up, that i fear for my teenage son, who i share this vehicle with. After this incident, and some extensive research, i cannot believe these vehicles are allowed on the road! they are a hazard to so many innocent lives. Thank god, there was not any incoming traffic, on the highway at thie time. Something has to be done! take action please!!!
I have been experiencing the "death wobble" in my jeep, and it is terrifying.when driving anywhere from 40-65 mph, the front end will occasionally begin to shake violently and it feels as if the vehicle is out of control.the only way to stop it is to immediately slow way down and try to get off the road (difficult in many conditions).i recently took it in to the jeep dealership and they "fixed" the problem by replacing the ball joints, the steering damper, and the front shocks ($1,700).it seemed to be ok for about 2 1/2 months, but it has happened again several times in the last two weeks.i can't afford to buy a new vehicle at this time, but the "death wobble" is a very dangerous condition (especially when going 60 mph down the highway!), and i don't know what to do.
Another jeep same year and model had to have all their front end parts replaced too at the same dealership.second water pump in two yearsegr valve replaced but check engine light still onmaintenance was done by the manual with this jeep
The contact owns a 2008 jeep wrangler 4-dr 4x2. While driving approximately 55 mph, the front end of the vehicle began to shake violently which resulted in a slight loss of steering control. The contact maneuvered to the side of the road and the vehicle resumed in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer five to six times for the defect. The steering stabilizer was replaced five times. The repairs consisted of replacing the front end tie rod, including a replacement of all four tires. The failure recurred six months after the steering stabilizer was replaced. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
Driving around 40 - 50 mph, hit a slight bump and vehicle begins shaking violently. Steering wheel shakes, entire jeep feels out of control. You must come almost to a complete stop before the shaking subsides. This happens every time you hit a slight bump going 40+mph. Dealer said it was an alignment problem and "fixed it". It is back at the dealership. We were on a 6 lane freeway today when it happened again. We got it stopped once and within a minute, it happened again. Had an 18 wheeler been behind us at the time we would probably have been hit. As it was, a private vehicle had to swerve around us. This is extremely dangerous and shouldn't be occurring in a 2008 jeep with 24,000 miles and no modifications.
When driving on a bumpy road, sometimes the car goes into a really serious vibration mode. The first time it happened i thought i had a flat tire. I pulled over and looked; all tires were fine, and i drove away like nothing ever happened. This condition has occurred three separate times, now i move to the right and slow way down and the vibration stops. I'm afraid to take the car on the freeway.
Was driving between 50-55 mph car was smooth riding, hit small bump in road and right front tire seemed to wobble and bounce uncontrollably. Stop vehicle checked tire and bushings all was good drove home fine. Next day samething at 45mph and different road. Very dangerous and jeep should repair, however no one knows the exact problem.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep wrangler 4-dr 4x2. The contact stated that water penetrated the roof of his vehicle whenever it rains.there was ice water coming through the fabric and saturated the roof which caused it to drip inside of the vehicle. The dealer stated that it was normal for the water to penetrate the fabric. The roof was not replaced. The chrysler manufacturer opened and closed a case regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 10,500.

Whenever the gas tank is filled, the gas will spurt out of where the nozzle is inserted.when the pump stops, the gas will spurt out of the tank and drip down the side of the vehicle.
