Takata recall; s33/ nhtsa 16v-290. While travelling forward at approximately 35 to 40 mph in a straight direction, a vehicle turned left in front of me and our vehicles collided. Unable to apply any sort of braking, my jeep's front center and front left side struck the left front, left front quarter-panel, and driver's side door of the other vehicle. My jeep spun approximately 45 degrees to the left before coming to a stop with the other vehicle. My airbag did not deploy as a result of the crash. I suffered injuries to my left hand, left thumb, left wrist, left forearm, left shoulder, left side of my neck, left scapula, chest, right hip, left knee, left, shin, and lower back. As of this time, i am still treating my injuries. The impact force was enough to bend my steering wheel as well.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler 4-dr 4x2. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v352000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

As i was driving my air bag light came onit still comes on, th his has never happened but i'm worried if it's a faulty air bag? or something that might be harmful later, since i have 2 kids just being concerned because i saw in the news that there is a recall on airbags from i think tataka air bags manufacturer and saw chrysler as one of the companies using these airbags on their vehicles!!??thank you for all the hard work!best regards

My husband was driving and i was in the passenger. It was 10pm and we were driving on a 4 lane highway going about 45mph when all the lights on the dash lit up and then the shut down( everything shut off ( lights, power steering, etc) after about 2 seconds the jeep came to life ( we did nothing to restart it).we started to drive again and after about 5 seconds it shut down again. My husband pulled the steering wheel as hard as he could to pull us off the road and into a parking lot. We rolled to a stop my husband got out and opened the hood and just then the lights came on and he closed the hood got in and turned the key and the engine started and we drove home. I am scared to death to drive the car with 4 children.*ln

Two weeks ago i when to the dealer to detail clean my jeep, i park at the entrance of the shop, when they where going to take my jeep in for cleaning, it will not start, they had to push the jeep into the shop, after checking it for a wild, they told me that it burn a fuse, they replace it and everything was find. Last week when i came out of my job, the jeep will not start again, i just replace the fuse and it was all fine. This morning am at wawa getting coffee and when i came out , the jeep will not start, had to get a toll truck to take it to my mechanic. He check it and told me there something cutting off the power and blowing the fuse every time he try to start it. He told to check with the dealer to see if there was a recall or problem with this, i call and by my vin number they said there was no recall, a recall on the switch and for cutting off the power was issued for newer models but not for 2007. I will like to know if there been other similar complain about this, now i remember that sometimes my jeep will be loosing like power or stalling when i was driving,i keep my jeep clean and in very good conditions , up to date in maintenance, but this worrying me. I have a friend with a 2008 jeep, and he told me he had the same problem with his.

I recently purchased a product called cellcontrol which is a distracted driving prevention product. When plugging their product into my obd port my car's computer began acting up. After 2 weeks in the shop and replacement of 2 computers in my vehicle it was determined that the cellcontrol device not only cooked my car's electronics but it voided my warranty since i broke the factory installed seal on the obd port in order to plug their device in. I don't believe this product has been adequately tested and may result in accidents since my vehicle at one point would not come out of high gear due to the computer malfunctioning.

My 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara suddenly lost power to my turn signals, interior lights, and windshield wipers multiple times during a long road trip. One time it occurred during a storm and i couldn't see out of my windshield and i couldn't communicate that i needed to pull over because my turn signals wouldn't work.

Purchased this jeep wrangler unlimited 4 door 2 wheel drive 12/26/2006 new, while driving in town between traffic lights after complete stop i start to move forward slowly to the next red light approx 500 feet at about 25 mph. The radio turns off and as i look at the radio all of the dash warning lights are on.by the time i removed my foot from the gas pedal the radio turned back on and the warning lights turned off.i continued to drive home for the next 20 minutes at 70 mph. This took place at night with the headlights on,r unning lights heater on medium, radio playing andoutside temp approx 34 degrees. The large truck behind me almost hit me when vehicle slowed as i noticed it no longer running. I see that many people are having this same problem and i am very concerned the safety of this start and stop in traffic.

Driving on the road going about 45mphand the jeep started to violently shake (death wobble), felt like i had a tire blow out, pulled over, nothing was wrong, drove away and was fine. Scared myself and my 10 year old son! i have the vehicle being inspected now.

My jeep gets what they call a death shudder...it does it sparatically at around 40 mph...everything in the front shakes horribly and feels like its going to fall apart ...on any road...going straight...no bumps involved

The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power and decelerated to 5 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was found that the engine had spun a rod and that there metal pieces in the oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

I guess i am writing with more than one issue.sorry for the inconvenience of such a long explanation but i thought long and hard before delving into this. I purchased my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited x 4-door 2wd in october of 2006. I was one of the lucky victims that while going 70 mph, the entire jeep shut down and then restarted on it's own.this happened twice.took it in once, i got the "i'm sorry look" and was let go.didn't even bother with the dealership the second time and finally was lucky enough not to havea wreck before the recall was sent. Within one month, not more than 1200 on the vehicle, it would not start.called tow trucks twice.each time, it took the tow truck 30-45 minutes to arrive and in that time frame, with repeated efforts, i was able to get the vehicle to start.this has not happened again for about 6 - 9 monthsthen came february 2007.it was about 45 degrees outside and i walked out to get the mail.as i looked up at the jeep, i was stopped dead in my tracks and did not even want to face what i knew had happened. Right below where the windshield starts, right above the hood, on the drivers' side was an approximate 1" crack.i went back outside 3 times thinking maybe i "thought" i was seeing something that wasn't really there.within one week, the crack had extended up about 1/2" and cracked horizontally about 4 inches across.so sorry again for the long, indepth letter.i just don't know what to do anymore.would really appreciate some advice. I own a 2007 jeep wranger unlimited (4-door) yesterday i was driving on a rural highway between 60-70mph and i lost all power, the radio shut down and i looked down at my dash and all my lights lit up.i felt the engine shut down as i begun to move to the shoulder all the power came back up.i came home to tell my husband and he looked on the internet and found similar situations being reported.i called my local dealer and the dealer i purchased the car from and they both had no idea about this being an issue. My concern is will this be an ongoing issue and can it be fixed.i don't want to be driving at a fast speed to have this happen again, this cannot be safe.the dealers said they would run diagnostics but will that truly identify the issue if this has happened only once.

During normal driving, my vehicle will stall.has happened twice since i have owned it (5 months).total loss of all power steering, brakes, and electrical in the vehicle.dealer told me on both occasions that since the vehicle did not report a code in the computer, there was nothing they could do.

While driving approximately 40 mph, my 2007 jeep wrangler sahara stalled while in motion.it then lost all power steering, etc. Momentarily and then started itself back up without any human intervention.this has also happened previously while making a low-speed turn in which it stalled completely and i was stopped in a busy traffic area on a blind curve with traffic coming both directions.cars were coming both directions and there was almost an accident because they were avoiding me.i also had my 2 young children in the vehicle with me.i took the jeep to galeana chrysler jeep in columbia, sc twice.both times, the technicians told me there were "no failure codes" so there was no work that they could do.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler 4x2.while driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when attempting to pass another vehicle.the contact stated that the vehicle would also lose power.the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure.thecurrent mileage is 3,000 and failure mileage was 1,000.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler 4-dr 4x2.while driving 35 mph, the engine would lose power for approximately three to five seconds.afterwards, the engine would regain power as if nothing happened.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of failure.the engine size was unknown.the current mileage is 12,000 and failure mileage was 10,000.

While driving on the hwy at around 75-80 mph, the jeep shut off, forcing both myself and passenger to fly towards the windshield.luckily we had on our seat belts, otherwise i would have hit the steering wheel and probably wrecked, there were cars on both sides of us, very scary!!!.after three or four seconds the jeep came back on and ran great until the next time this happened, around 60 on hwy.all electrical and engine turns off with no brakes, steering and panel lights.this has happen three times and the dealership cannot duplicate the problem, so it goes unfixed.i love the jeep, but safety first.

2007 jeep wrangler sahara 2 wd with 15,000 miles on it. Without warning the jeep lost power, and started making clacking noise under acceleration. When i pulled over to the side of the road, the oil light came on. Main bearing was ruined.

Jeep wrangler spits gas during fueling, overflows down side of vehicle.

I bought a used 2007 jeep wrangler in june of2010.a couple months after owning the vehicle, i noticed that if i left the gasoline pump on automatic, the pump would cut off and gasoline would gush out from the tank, spilling on the vehicle and ground below.this happened at various stations and every time i went to fill my tank to full.to prevent it from happening, i only fill my tank to 3/4 full.

Every time i fill up the jeep with gasoline the gasoline will spill out all over the side of the jeep, just as the automatic shut off from the gas pump activates. This started happening this last summer and is still occurring.

Fuel spillage while refilling.

The gas tank has been overflowing for the past three month. No matter how slow you pump, or how many gas stations you try. Has not been fixed yet.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. The contact stated that intermittently, fuel would spew back from the filler tank during refueling. The contact stated he would have to hold the fuel pump aggressively when refueling to keep the gasoline from spilling. The dealer stated that the rollover valve on the fuel tank was fractured and would only become worse. The dealer stated the failure was not a defect but a warranty issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 2,700 and the current mileage was 33,000.

Fuel spills out when tank is filled up.

2007 jeep wrangler x fuel overflow problem starting approx 60k.

I brought a 2007 jeep off a new car dealer ( jeep was used with 53,000 miles on it) 2 weeks ago. I have filled the tank 3 times and each time the tank has over flowed a little at the end of the fill up and gas has spilled out onto the bumper and the ground.

When toping off the, gas overflows out of the gas tank.

Each time i add fuel from a gas pump, once the pump stops automatically, the fuel spits out fuel, as if there is too much air getting into the tank and pushing out the fuel. This happens all the time, and gas gets all over my tire cover, jeep body, and even sometimes on me, if i am holding the pump.

I was fueling my jeep. While the pump was active i was washing the windows. I heard ans smelled fuel splashing and had to run back and manually disengage the nozzle. The left rear of the vehicle and the ground were covered with gas. Thinking it might be a gas pump (gas station) problem, i ignored the problem. When it happened two more times at different locations, i got repairs done at a local garage. My garage looked up the problem on the internet and found http://www.edmunds.com/autoobserver-archive/2011/02/chrysler-fuel-spit-back-complaints-rise.html which documents a spike in complaints from other jeep wrangler owners.

Greetings,my 2007 jeep weangler has a fueling issue. When ever i fuel my jeep it overflows and spits gas back at me when ever the tank gets close to full.this happens every time and at multiple gas stations.

Hood raises up 2 to 3 inches during high winds or when passed by approaching large truck.

The hood of my jeep lifts up during the following conditions:1) when driving at highway speeds on a windy day.2) when driving over 50mph and a large vehicle, such as a truck, passes in the opposite direction.it appears that the 2 hood latches (one on each side) stretch enough to allow the hood to lift when there is sufficient air pressure generated from wind.the center hood latch has caught the hood during these occasions.i am concerned that the hood may come completely unlatched, then raise all the way up thus blocking my view - which may result in an accident.

My computer in the jeep thinks the airbag went off took it in and dealer said air bag is dead. 1st gear pops out of gear almost died on take off, turning left .

Vehicle gear shift cable bustedand shifter pin damage. Due to poor quality item made out of plastic not made out of metal. Chrysler upgrade because part to new part but will not reimburse, they admit that part is faulty but sill would not make changes to other cars. Car would not move stuck in place. At first when car was turned on gear had not traction and no control. Vin: [xxx] jeep wrangler 07information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I purchase a new 2007 jeep wrangler, at 50,000 milesthe engine started making a knocking sound. I then checked the oil and discovered that there was no oil. At this point i put oil in but after 5 days the engine stopped running. Isince contact jeep but haven't heard nothing back. I have never had any problem in the past with the oil running low.

I purchased a 2007 four door steel blue jeep wrangler from a dealership in kansas. From the start, i had problems with the car shaking violently whenever would hit a bump or pothole in the road. The vehicle came with aftermarket tires and rims that were 18 inches, i purchased the vehicle like that. When i reported the problem to the dealership, i was told 1st that they could not find a problem with it. Then i was told that it could possibly be the tires, then i was told that i needed a heavy duty steering damper. I have since got the tires that originally came with the vehicle put back on them, a new heavy duty steering damper, by the dealership, the tires rotated and balanced and i still have the same issue with the jeep, it shakes violently and uncontrollably whenever ihit a bump or pothole in the road. I have to bring my vehicle to a complete stop, no matter what speed i'm going 10 mph or 65 mph, put on my hazards and pull over if i can, before resuming driving. I only have about 22000 miles on the vehicle because it is too dangerous to drive. I even purchased a 2nd vehicle to avoid driving the jeep. But, i am still paying on this jeep and i should be able to drive it without fear and anxiety about a possibly collision or accident which i experience every time i'm behind the wheel. This winter, i had to drive it for about 2 months because my car was down for repairs, but since i had car fixed i have since parked the jeep again. I need some serious help, not just for me but for other jeep owners, if you are so inclined please check out "jk death wobble" as it is termed on the internet and youtube videos and you will know what i have experienced since 2007, and many jeep owners as well.thank you for your help.i experience the "death wobble" every time i drive the jeep without fail, about 2-3 times depending on the road condition, potholes, bumps, and uneven wear.

Rear seat a 60/40 bench will not fold since the head rest gets stuck.

2007 jeep wrangler with 28,000 miles has premature wear of the rear brake pads.

Driving on the road going about 45mphand the jeep started to violently shake (death wobble), felt like i had a tire blow out, pulled over, nothing was wrong, drove away and was fine. Scared myself and my 10 year old son! i have the vehicle being inspected now.

The front end began an uncontrollable wobble at about 55 miles per hour.the only way to stop it was to gradually slow down to a stop.there was no apparent reason for it to began.i did not hit anything.the road i was traveling was an improved smooth paved road.the car could not be controlled.

Uncontrollable shaking vibrating loss of steering..... Death wobble till stopped and pulled over jeep has serviced it 3x and acting like im crazy replaced stabilizer bar and dampener only help for few weeks im afraid to drive and can not afford another car it has 30000 miles stock everything and no off roading ever.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler 4x2. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road to further inspect the failure. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where unknown repairs were made to the vehicle however, the failure recurred several times after the initial failure. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 132,744.

While driving 50 to 70 mph if the vehicle hits any small bump in the road it then begins to shake violently. There is a term given by jeep owners that have this year jeep called the "death wobble." there are many of discussion groups online that talk about it and there is even footage on youtube. The only way to stop the wobble is to stop the vehicle as quickly as you can. Not safe at all at highway speeds. Why is there no recall on this issue? general motors was saved by the tax payers of the u.s. They should not be allowed to put vehicles that are unsafe on u.s. Highways. I only hope no one has been seriously hurt or killed from this issue. My jeep is all stock from the factory. I have had no work or modifications done to it. There is no reason why jeep owners that pay $24,000 or more for their jeep to pay over $1000 to fix a safety issue that gm is responsible for. I have had a few recall on my jeep for minor issues and had them fixed. This is a major issue.

When driving between 40 and 60 mph the steering wheel and front end began to shake violently from right to left, feeling similar to sudden wheel imbalance and as if front wheels might come off when i hit a bump, usually smaller ones like gaps in bridge surfaces or dips in the road.it has been described in blogs and web postings as the "death wobble".to stop this action i have to slow down below 30 mph and sometimes have to stop completely.in heavy traffic this causes dangerous traffic situations since the natural instinct is to apply brakes to maintain control of the vehicle. This does not occur every time i hit a bump, but occurs more frequently as time passes.the dealer has rotated tires, done rear end work, replaced brakes, and replaced the steering damper on several occasions.replacing the steering damper relieves symptoms for 2-3 months,(up to 2,000 miles) but it starts again, lightly initially, then increasing in intensity and frequency.the same dealer has attempted to service this problem four times over the past two years, but has not come up with a solution.they say they can not "re-create" the condition and can not determine what causes it.they also say they have not received other complaints.chrysler's customer service workers defer to the dealer.this is a very frightening and dangerous situation when it occurs.the car has not been driven off road and has only original equipment.

At about 50 to 70 mph, there is a violent shaking. I've looked it up and may have referred to it a 'desth wobble'extremely terrifying and you have to suddenly slow down in heavy traffic which could cause an accident. Also. Onlookers can get distracted due to the shaking and haven an accident as well. It feels like extreme turbulence. This has occurred at least 5 times.

I have filled a previous complaint but the problem has not been corrected i have had 2 steering dampers replaced by jeep in the past, now they are acknowledging the defect but not offering any knowledge of how to fix the death wobble ( violent shaking and loss of control of vehicle) this is still happening with only 50,000 miles on my car, we like the jeep but we are afraid to drive it much or take on road trip this is my only vehicle i am a single mom i can not afford to have the steering components replaced at my cost so i am forced to drive a car that is unsafe for me and my daughter , my wrangler has a bad name due to so many people experiencing this it is unsellable. Im stuck with a very dangerous jeep! this has gone on too long why are you not forcing a recall are you waiting for deaths due to this.

While driving and the vehicle hits roughly 55 mph the vehicle starts shaking violently.the steering wheel nearly snatches out of my hand in a violent matter.the vehicle feels as though it is about to crash.i have to slam on breaks, hoping no one is behind me, to slow the vehicle to stop the violent shaking.the shaking is known as the "death wobble".

I have a 2007 4dr jeep wrangler not 4 wheel drive.just recently has a problem started on my jeep.i will be driving at 35-65mph and hit a bump or a series of small bumps and my jeep will begin shaking violently and will not stop unless i immediately pull off the road or slow to about 20mph.i took it to a local repair shop and described the problem i was having to which they replied i hope it's not the 'death wobble'.from what they could see there was nothing wrong with it as far as steering and was told they would have to contact jeep dealership to get further information. I began researching this issue via the internet and it is commonly known by jeep owners as a 'death wobble'.in all cases they have had to immediately slow down and get out of traffics way to regain control, in some reports read it has caused wrecks and even a broken wrist.i am writing hoping that there are more complaints about this issue and hopefully an investigation can begin on the subject because it is terrifying when this issue begins and you are on a highway or any busy road.i believe their needs to be some kind of recall to get this problem taken care of if it is a commonly known defect.

Death shake in front end . Steering stabilizer failure. To replace had to buy from chrysler a modification bracket and shock. Could not buy aftermarket. My point is i should not have to pay for a bracket that they did not make right in the 1st place. I almost was in a serious accident while driving normal conditions. They compared it to a dell computer that if i needed a upgrade i would have to pay for it. Don't you think that driving a vehicle on a major highway is a little different than a computer sitting on a desk? i do not off roadas this is a 2 wheel drive jeep. Ilike what i drive but i think this should have been a recall before now.

There is a horrible wobble in the jeep. Felt very unsafe as it happened suddenly while driving on the highway.

Death wobble at high speeds feels like jeep is falling apart

The contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler 4x2. The contact was driving 55 mph when the steering wheel began to vibrate abnormally and the vehicle began to shake uncontrollably. The contact stated that the failure would occur sporadically and would not cease until the vehicle was brought to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed him that they would need to install a heavy duty steering damper to repair the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated they would investigate the failure before determining if they would assist.the vehicle was not yet repaired.the failure mileage was 28,000.

While driving at a slow to moderate speed, the front end shakes uncontrollably and you can't control the steering.this happens driving slow, or at 60 mph, straight-a-ways or curves.the only way to get it stopped is to apply the brakes and come to a stop.this jeep has not been lifted, it has the same parts on it as what was on it when purchased and i was told nothing was done to it.this is extremely dangers and scary for the driver.

Death wobble. I'm sure not the first complaint you've seen for it. This is a complete bs problem to have on a $40,000 vehicle and chrysler/jeep needs to be held liable for it. I have spent over $2,000 replacing components on the front-end - none of which have "cured" the violent "death wobble" when i hit a bump or pothole going 50 - 60mph. Just to add another definition to the problem, i will explain in detail. You hit a bump or a pothole going anywhere from 40 to 60 mph or so, and the whole front end begins to shake violently. Steering wheel shakes, wheels are wobbling back and forth like crazy, and the car is hard to control. There is no way to stop it until you pull off the road and stop the vehicle. Shoddy manufacturing is the only real culprit i can point to based on my experience and the hundreds of accounts i have personally read online just trying to find a solution for my own problem. This is completely unacceptable and needs to be addressed by chrysler/jeep...

Driving on the road going about 45mphand the jeep started to violently shake (death wobble), felt like i had a tire blow out, pulled over, nothing was wrong, drove away and was fine. Scared myself and my 10 year old son! i have the vehicle being inspected now.

Front end wobble at about 45 mph. Does not stop until you come to a complete stop! i have had the jeep back to the dealer for the last year now and they can't find the problem, but it is going to get someone hurt.

Death wobble at high speeds feels like jeep is falling apart

I have to slow it down then i can go again.its very scary and it feels like the wheels are about to fall off the jeep. Its very unsafe cause i have to pull off to the side of the road and stop.

My 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited shakes violently and becomes uncontrollable if it hits a small bump in the road.

I have a 2007 jeep sahara jk four door.traveling westbound on the 10 freeway in pamona, ca in the car pool lane with cruise control on going about 70mph.i had been traveling this way for about 20 minutes going straight ahead.the engine appeared to stall.the speedometer went to zero even though i wascoasting.the rpm read about 800.i keep pumping the gas pedal, every once in a while i would get a spurt of speed but had an overall reduction of speed.i had to navigate over double yellow lines, between semi's to get to the shoulder.after stopping i turned the key off then on again.it started right up and i continued the rest of the 150 miles.the dash displayed two icons.one was the esp symbol and the other was a red lighting bolt in between two vertical red lines.i called the dealer, shaver jeep, in san bernardino.the service guy said this wasn't uncommon.he hypothesize the esp system sensed a need to turn on causing the computer to take control.i assured him i was going straight and had not made any turns or hit any bumps.it happened out of the blue.if this was the reason, the computer made a false interpretation and it should have turned control back to the driver after the correction was made instead of losing speed on a busy freeway.
