While traveling down a public dirt road (fire road) at approximately 10 mph a "ding" was heard.when i looked down a the instrument cluster the airbag indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to hunter dodge located in palmdale, ca. On 21aug13 where it was diagnosed to have a bad clock spring mechanism.

While in motion and stationary the air bag warning light and chime come on randomly, sometimes seconds apart over times minutes, online research indicates that the air bag system maybe defective and this issue is a recall matter on right drive jeeps mine however is a left drive. Started 2/17/2016 and has been going on ever since

The airbag light goes on consistently on my 2009 jeep jk wrangler indicating there is a problem with the airbag deploying. I've looked into this issue and found the problem is most likely related to a faulty clockspring.

Horn doesn't work and cruise control doesn't work airbag light on n

Air bag light continuously illuminated, determined clock spring in the steering column was defective.chrysler has a recall for right hand steering 2009 jeep wranglers and has extended warranty to repair 2007 jeep wranglers with this issue yet has done nothing for other affected models.the failure of this part can resultair bags not deploying during an accident.this is a safety issue that puts all customers at risk.whether the steering is right hand, left hand, 2007 or 2009, they are all affected yet chrysler chooses the same path as gm and their ignition switch issues by recalling or extending warranties to only fix those that they are forced to fix at the expense of the safety of their other customers who have the same defective part in their steering columns. Does the nhtsa condone this action? chrysler is clearly aware of the safety issue and should be held accountable should anyone or if anyone has already been injured or killed by this defective part.

My 2009 jeep wrangler 4x4 has a issue regarding the air bag warning light.the light comes on intermittantly and the warning bell will go off. While i am driving. I am concerned that my air bag will not deploy when or if it is needed. I know this is a problem with theses jeeps and wonder why no recall?i am told it could be a clockspring problem.

Two days ago, the air bag warning light on the dash started intermittently illuminating along with an audible chime sounding when ever i turned the steering wheel.driving straight ahead the light would go out.as of today, the light stays on continuously.after checking with posts on jk-forum.com (forum related to 2007+ jeep wranglers) i found that there is on going issue with the clockspring in the steering wheel area.multiple people are having the same issue with the same symptoms that my vehicle has exhibited.this is obviously a safety concern on a part/design that chrysler has been having issues with for years.i have seen posts that people have paid upwards of $500 to have this issue fixed.i believe that this should be a tsb and repaired free of charge, or even a recall since it involves the airbag safety system.my vehicle is a jeep wrangler, 2 door, 4x4, left hand drive.

Air bag light is repeatedly coming on and off while driving indicating a fault in the air bag system.from reading about this issue online, there appear to be several vehicles with same problem where the clock spring in the steering wheel is faulty and may compromise the air bag.jeep is refusing to fix it outside of a 3yr or 36000 mile warranty so owners are left to fix the issue involving air bags themselves.

Vehicles air bag light blinked and alarm sounded.this would go on and off for a few days then stayed on all the time.vehicle was brought to dealer and they indicated it was a bad clock spring.the repair cost was $507.39 to harr jeep in worcester ma july 13, 2013.i contacted jeep and they indicated although the vehicle and part fell into a recall period, only rh drive vehicles were recalled.this has been a problem with many wranglers, different years and configurations, as well as other jeep vehicles including the cherokee and liberty.jeep informed me the part was not designed to last for the "life of the vehicle", and therefore was my responsibility.i believe this ongoing problem for jeep extends to my vehicle and many others like it.i have great concern when the primary safety component in the vehicle does not last the life of the vehicle.this safety issue can cause a failure of the airbag system.jeeps irresponsibility in recalling this puts thousands of drivers at risk each day.the high cost of repair will lead to many operators using the vehicle with the system compromised by this fault.i requested reimbursement from jeep for this repair stating the similarities of my problem to others identified by jeep as recalls. I also shared my concern of consumer safety.jeep basically said its the owners problem.

Air bag lamp illuminates intermittently.dealer ran diagnostic on vehicle and determined the clock spring is bad.part is on back order and maybe a month before in stock. Air bag is deactivated when lamp illuminates.dealer is not covering repair due to warranty expired.

Airbag light goes on and off.was told by the dealer (jim click) that there is no problem with this item.i need to pay for diagnosis before they can do anything.i informed them of the recall this is being investigated and was toldthat they can't do anything and was my problem.

My airbag warning light goes on and off intermittently.this is consistent with the clock spring issue that has been occurring in many 07-12 wranglers. This is an extremely dangerous condition should a frontal impact occur.

While stopped at a light, my jeep's airbag light came on and the warning ding sounded. The light would regularly switch off and on again, every time accompanied by the warning ding when the light turned back on. The light is pretty much always on now, and the warning ding only sounds when i start the vehicle.i had the airbag warning checked out at the local jeep dealership and they have confirmed that the clock spring has failed. The clock spring appears to be a faulty design; chrysler issued a voluntary recall after a previous nhtsa investigation (pe11019) but the same part/design is used from 2007 through 2012 in jeep wranglers.

Air bag light stays on horn wont work and cruise control in-op common problem and expensive to repair

Takata recall no one seems to be able to remedy s33 and s43. Two dealers have told me they have no parts. One of them told me since it was a 2009 nothing had happened yet, i told him i haven't had a wreck yet.

Air bag light on intermittently, after starting vehicle, turning and/or hitting bump, dings constantly from coming on and going off (appx every 20 seconds while driving). Known issue is on recall for rhd vehicles, but not on lhd vehicles. How many complaints are needed before recall is issued? obviously, there is a problem.

Around 50,000 miles the airbag light came on. A code reader showed it was a defective clock spring

Airbag warning light goes on and off while driving.have checked for loose or bad wiring connection externally - none found.believe that this condition is due defective airbag clockspring wiring failure.talked with dealer (of little help) - no recall notice, your problem but we can fix.feel this is a manufacturing defect and should be corrected under warranty/recall process.

Takata inflators: i receive warranties on the passenger airbag inflator and the airbag clock spring which was perfect because the light has been going on and off for some time. Now i'm being told this is not why the airbag light is on i am being told the driver side airbag has something wrong with it being able to deploy. Would this have anything to do with the clockspring? they are still replacing the recalled parts but my concern is why would this all of a sudden happen when there is issues with the air bags as it stands now?

The air bag warning keeps going off, sometimes while just driving down the road and especially when turning the steering wheel. It is my understanding that under this condition the drivers air bag will fail to deploy. Has this been recalled or still under investigation ?

Faulty instrument cluster: displayed false warning alarms, especially during the first 30 minutes of driving. When taken in for safety recalls, jeep showed 81,000 miles on engine computer, not the 8457 showing on instrument cluster.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler.when applying pressure on the accelerator pedal at 10 mph the vehicle would not accelerate. She shut the engine off and restarted it to reset the computer system.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer system was repaired; however, the failure resurfaced and became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer thirteen times and the technician replaced the throttle body.none of the repairs have remedied the failure. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failuremileage was 900.the current mileage was 16,000.

The problem is the totally integrated power module. The front windshield wipers activate on there own with no control. The gauge cluster shuts down and all the dash lights turn on. You loose ability to control turn signals and headlights. The radio turns off. The airbag light comes on.this may occour at any time.

Backing out the drive way wipers came on pulled back in driveway checked headlights were on wipers and headlights wouldn't turn off with switches i noticed i didn't have a dome light no gauges on dash no speedometer or odometer turn signals and 4way flashers wouldn't work the horn doesn't work i know this is a safety issue without horn and turn lights wipers on all the time i have done a lot of research on the internet such as jeep forum wrangler forum you tube and found there is a lot of jeep wranglers and chrysler products out there with the same issues everyone states it is the totally integrated power module also called the tipm one you tube video of a 2012 wrangler owner states he has to wait 2 weeks for a tipm because they are on back order chrysler apparently cant keep enough tipms in stock they go out so frequently i think this is a safety issue and chrysler should put a recall on the totally integrated power module.

Dash cluster flickers, jeep shuts off while driving, sometimes starts threw out stall on its own. Won't start all the time. Have an issue we're my battery cables are massively melted causing smoke.

Left front directional has replaced bulb but still flashes fast. Computer was scanned for codes and tipm code present. Light socket and wiring all look good. 2007 wrangler had a tipm recall. 2009 should as well.

When i purchased the vehicle i had noticed it made a noice , i had a mechanic take a look at it and mentioned the sub frame was welded and that the car was very rusted and falling apart. I went back with in the 15 days and under 500 miles and brought it to jason's attention (the person ho sold me the vehicle, jason argued that all jeeps sub frames are like that from factory, even tried comparing it to another jeep he had. I had took the jeep to a few shops for evaluation and all of themcame back with the same bad results that the car was a safety hazard. The vehicle was advertised at dealer "that car place" as a good reliable and safe car. My big cocern is that i know very little about cars and i don't feel comfortable in a car that has safety hazards for others and my own safety.i had requested a different vehicle and the reply i gt from jason was that he couldn't do that because he had brought down the price an had given me a discount. I don't think its fair for him to use that excuse and deny my request just because i didn't ask him to it was by his choice.

We called autopark chrysler, the dealer we bought it from and they said that since we did our last oil change on our own that the warranty was void and that we would be charged to dx the problem and the engine would be $7k.we had the engine replace at another shop.cost $5k. At time of repair we found out that the problem stem from a mfg defect.the oil pressure valve located inside the engine was made of plastic and was completely melted. I contacted chrysler by email and was told that since we did not have the powertrain inspection done the warranty was void.i explained we were not wanting to file a warranty claim. We were requesting reimbursement because of a mfg defect. They refused to cover cost of repairs.i than got connected with a case manager at chrysler.she said i had to get the powertrain inspected by 11-18-14. It failed because the engine was replacedi than spoke to [xxx]with chrysler. He said that i should have contacted chrysler in feb 2014 not the dealer regarding the warranty. The dealer should have offered to do a free powertrain warranty inspection than or refer me to contact chrysler.[xxx]also said that the powertrain inspection i was required to have done nov wasto negate their responsibility on the replaced engine.we feel that chrysler is responsible for the cost of repairs.there should not be any plastic parts inside the engine. Chrysler is very aware of this defect.the dealer should have told us they needed to perform a free inspection of the motor when it failed in feb 2014 to determine if the repairs would be covered rather than turn us away stating the warranty was void, or at least refer us to call chrysler.please understand, my concern is not regarding maintaining the power train warranty.my concern is that the problem stem from a mfg defect. There should not be any plastic parts inside the engine.

2009 jeep wrangler hesitates when accelerating, sometimes loses power, and/or bucks randomly. When starting from a stop, the vehicle will take some time to start accelerating, with the delay being in the order of 2 seconds or more. When merging, the vehicle sometimes loses power if you step on the accelerator hard. When driving the vehicle and accelerating gently, it sometimes hesitates or 'bucks' and then gains power.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler 4x4.the contact stated that there was no heat shield underneath the exhaust system.while driving at an unknown speed, he detected smoke coming from the exhaust pipe.he pulled the vehicle over and noticed flames.there was minor damage to the hoses and wires.the dealer recommended that the vehicle not be driven.the vehicle was then towed to a repair shop and the mechanic stated that the vehicle was designed properly.the vehicle has not been repaired.the dealer also stated that there were no recalls for this vehicle and that it was an issue for the insurance company.the failure and current mileages were 2,000.

Fuel overflow every time i fill up at the gas station.1-2 quarts end up on my jeep and the ground unless i carefully monitor the pump when fueling.

2009 jeep wrangler 2 door rubicon w/ 6 speed manual transmission.deceleration problem. Vehicle will accelerate sporadically when descending long steep grades forcing driver to ride brakes to keep under control. This occurs when vehicle approaches approximately 2000 rpm. It feels like just a slight acceleration, however, it's enough to put the vehicle into a coasting situation with no engine braking whatsoever. This also occurs when slowing for a stop sign. Accelerator pedal is completely released and the vehicle just goes into a coast.this situation could lead to brake fade on a long steep grade and accelerated brake wear.i've had no satisfaction at dealer. All i was told is that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle.

Fuel tank will overflow spilling anywhere from 1-2 quarts of fuel from vehicle when automatic fuel pumps are used. It appears as though the tank does not vent properly, when the automatic fuel pumps shut off (regardless of station) the tank appears to "burp" venting more gases and 1-2 quarts of fuel. This is a consistent problem happening regularly (every second or third fill up).

In feb 2011. I started getting fuel spitting back when filling my jeep.tried 5 different gas stations over the course of a month.all with the same results.took it into the local dealership. They agreed that it was a known problem and made repairs under the 3/3600 warranty.now the same problem is happening again.dealership is going to take a look at it later this week.but cannot promise anything about it being covered.even though it has been a known problem with this series of wranglers.

My 2009 jeep wrangler will overflow gas onto the side of the jeep onto the ground every time i fill the gas tank up when using any gas station's automatic shut-off. I do not "top off" the tank. I have tried 5 different gas stations to make sure this was not limited to my usual gas stations. I have also tried filling the take up at slower speeds, but it still overflows. This issue started approximately at 20k miles. This is a serious safety issue not only for me but other people using the gas pump after me. On spark from static electricity could cause a fire/explosion.

When filling up the gas tank the fuel will spit back out of the tank. This creates a significant amount of fuel being shot back at the person filling up the vehicle and it also creates an environmental hazard. This has occurred on the last two occasions when re-fueling the vehicle.

About 1/2 a gallon of gas overflows and spills when filling up the gas tank of a 2009 jeep wrangler.this happens everytime i fill up the tank and the side body panel and part of the rear bumper as well as the ground get soaked with gasoline.i've contacted the dealer regarding the issue but since a recent recall only includes 2007 and 2008 models, my jeep could not get fixed.

When filling up the gas tank the fuel will spit back out of the tank. This creates a significant amount of fuel being shot back at the person filling up the vehicle and it also creates an environmental hazard. This has occurred on the last few occasions when re-fueling the vehicle.

When fueling, gasoline will splash back from the filler before the pump stops causing gas to spill on the side of the vehicle and on the ground.it happens at any gas station anytime the vehicle is filled up.

Fuel spits back during refuelingcause: valve integrated in fuel tank is defective, tank requires replacement.previous model year had the same issue and a service-bulletin was issued (14-001-11) with unlimited time and mileage expiration.it appears to me that the gas tank has a design flaw and somehow a defective tank was placed in my vehicle, i believe my vehicle should apply to the service bulletin the symptoms and corrective action are the same

Every time i fill up gas. It's spit out gas on the side of my car and on the ground. This happens from the day i own the car. The gas attendant told me that it doesn't that with all the newer jeep.

Pulling away from a stoplight the plastic gas pedal snapped off - resulting in the inability to accelerate out of the intersection. I purchased a replacement from the local jeep dealership that same week - and this has just occurred again (february 22nd 2013). This past time i was pulling out of a parking lot and the gas pedal snapped again. I am not an aggressive driver. There must be a flaw in this design.

My 2009 wrangler has an overfilling problem every single time i fill up at the gas station.it doesn't matter if i use the lowest setting on the gas pump or if i manually use as little pressure as possible. It overfills every single time and gas pours out of the fill spout running down the body of the vehicle on my hand on my clothes and on the ground. My mechanic has been in touch with jeep whoclaims they haven't heard of this problem, and he has also contacted chrysler corporation who has not returned his phone calls. At this point i just want the problem fixed because this is a hazardous material that is pouring out onto my car, my body, my clothes, and the ground. Some answers and/or action from jeep/chrysler would be great!

When i refuel, when pump stops gas comes out.

When filling my 2009 wrangler with fuel the pump does not automatically shut off before fuel has spilled out of the tank, down the side of my car and onto the ground.i reported this to jeep when if first occurred and they were familiar with the issue, but would not correct it free of charge.but let me know that i could pay to have it fixed.i have not paid to fix it and it continues to happen to this day. This is clearly a design flaw and they acknowledged that, but still have not issued a service bulletin to correct it.the dangers of fuel spilt down the side of my car and onto the ground should be obvious.

Every time i fill the gas tank, ever since i first bought it, it will spill gas upon shutting the pump off at top off.this was a problem with the 07/08 models to the point of a factory tank replacement, but the 09 model is not covered for some reason and should be.it will eventually ruin the paint and possibly the bumper cosmetics as well.please help.

My jeep has been having an ongoing issue while fueling. After the fuel filling nozzle automatically shuts off it will spit out fuel all over me and my vehicle. I understand that the warranty on 2007-2008 jeep wrangler jks has been extended to be a lifetime warranty and mine does not fall under the warranty, even though it is the same issue. This is not just an inconvenience. Gasoline can contain hydrocarbons, parafins, olefins, cycloalkanes, oxygenators, and aromatics including benzene which is a known human carcinogen. This fueling issue is not only a safety and environmental concern but it is also a health concern for your customers.

During refueling for the last several months we have experience fuel spit back. This has resulted in fuel spilling on person doing the refueling, fuel on vehicle and ground, enough were the attendant must clean up excess fuel on the ground. This is near the exhaust, extreme fire danger, and personal injury and/or death. Research shows that 2007-2008 jeeps have had a recall for this issue. Chrysler has had this issue for years. My gas tank needs to be replaced as the check valve is in the tank at a cost of $600.00 + labor & tax.respectfully request this matter gets investigated prior to major incident involving explosion and/ or fire.

When filling up my 2 door jeep wrangler it never fails to overflow, it doesn't matter what pump i use or how fast or slow i fill up. I have researched that they fixed a couple years and mine doesn't fit into that. I feel it is very frustrating that they won't fix all years considering they know this is a common issue and a safety hazzard as the gas doesn't just get all over my vehicle and the ground but myself as well. This has been happening for a couple months, i thought it was maybe the pump or the way i was pumping the gas and nothing i have done to change it has helped.

My 2009 jeep wrangler overfills every single time i try and fill-up.it has gotten tot he point that i generally try and stop filling up at about 3/4 of a tank if i can, but if i allow it to fill aon its own, it overfills and splashes out.

Purchased vehicle last year, suddenly when filling the fuel, at the point the pump automatically shuts off the gas back blows dumping a substantial amount of fuel on you and the ground. This never happened before january of this year and has happened the last three times i have fueled my vehicle at different pumps.

Fuel filler burps out gasoline after all fill ups. Happens at any type of pump and fill station.

When filling fuel tank, gas nozzle kicks off then fuel splashes back out of filler neck and goes every where, any where from a quart to more. I have been sprayed to many times and had to drive with gas on my clothes. This is very dangerous not only from risk of fire but from breathing gas fumes on ones clothes. I talked with jeep customer service and ask why they didn't have a recall on this problem and was informed they don't issue recalls unless they are forced. What's up with that, i hope you all will change your decision and force a recall before someone gets hurt. I can also send a video of gas slashing out every where if you need proof.

When filling fuel tank, gas spits back at you onto you and the car.very dangerous situation.this happens each time we get fuel.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler 4x4 sport (na). While driving approximately 65-70 mph, another vehicle passed the vehicle in the opposite direction and the wind caused the hood to open approximately an inch and a half. Then the hood closed very hard. The failure continued every 100 miles every time a commercial vehicle passed. The contact called the dealer who stated that the failure was not normal. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 6,300 and the current mileage was approximately 7,500.updated 3/14/11 updated 06/24/11

Vehicle jumps out of 1st gear when you are pulling out.it almost broke my wrist.dealer refuses to fix unless they can replicate the problem.even though they have a service bulletin issued on april 20, 2010.this is very unsafe.can someone help me?

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler 2-dr 4x4. The transmission fluid leaked from the vent of the transmission. The dealer cleaned the vent and advised the contact to let him know if it recurs.the dealer also stated that it appeared that the fluid was burping out of the heat vent from the transmission but not from any other seal. The failure mileage was 400 and the current mileage was 12,000.

Transfer case shifter linkage broke when shifting from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive. The vehicle was stuck in neutral in the road and could not be moved. Leaving my wife stranding in the middle of a busy state highway.

2009 jeep wrangler 2dr 4wd w/6speed manual transmission. This is a known problem according to a recent dealership service visit that they are "fully aware of".the gear shift frequently pops out of 1st gear while starting from a standstill. Vehicle has 28,000 miles on it, issue had begun at about 16-18k. It began as a sporadic issue and has become more frequent, approx 1-2 times per month. On the service visit 1/20/2011, dealership was of no help as they could not replicate the problem and no repair or advice was given. Vehicle will be out of warrenty in approx 8000k. This common issue will then be on the hands of the owner.it is actually more of a safety issue as there is no warning when it'll pop out of gear as one pulls into the flow of traffic and thensuddenly becomes immobile posing a serious t-bone potential. Surprising, the total lack of responsibility on the dealership/auto manufacturer regarding this issue since it is so well known to the service department.*ln

2009 jeep wrangler 2 door 6-speed manual transmission - pops out of 1st gear randomly.happens when starting from a stop - loud banging noise.brought to dealership 2 times already and because they can't replicate the issue can't do anything about it.major safety concern. Car has 14000 milesbut jog started at approx 1,000 miles.jeep needs to be accountable for this.researching on internet shows numerous complaints on same problem with little help from jeep or chrysler.are we jeeps "toyota" victims?

2007-2010 jeep jk wrangler (all models) manual 6 speed transmissiontransmission violently jumps out of gear (jog) in first and second gear when starting from a stop. The action is quick, violent and sounds like the vehicle hit a curb or another vehicle. The movement of the shift handle is violent enough to cause hand injury including broken bones. In addition, this is a safety concern as the vehicle can become momentarily unable to accelerate from a stop or slow speed (i.e. Avoiding other vehicles, objects etc.). This problem happens almost daily on this particular vehicle. Some quick research reveals that this seems to be a fairly common problem as documented by other jeep owners/operators.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler 4x4. The contact was driving 7 mph and attempting to accelerate into traffic. The vehicle shifted into first gear and then independently shifted into neutral. The failure caused the vehicle to stall without warning. The contact stated that the failure had occurred at least seven times since purchasing the vehicle. The manufacturer informed the contact there were no recalls on his vehicle or for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 9,000.

2009 jeep wrangler x pops out of first gear as the vehicle accelerates from a complete stop.as this is occurring in first gear from a stop it is usually when the vehicle is merging into traffic or at a stop sign, thus creating the potential for a broadside collision or rear end.

2009 jeep wrangler with six speed manual transmission.on start from standing stop transmission will slip actual "pop" out of first gear. Problem is random and intermittent but will occur two to three times during a driving day.car has left me vulnerable in traffic as i try to re-engage transmission to get out of oncoming traffic's way.search on web indicates it is a known problem to owners of 2007-2009 jk wrangler owners but jeep has not issued any tsb or other fix.dealer will not repair intermittent problem.i am going to get killed in this thing if they don't fix it.

Over 8 times in the past month my 2009 jeep wrangler has violently slipped out of first gear when trying to accelerate. When this happens the car stops suddenly and there is a loud bang like one would expect in a rear end collision. I am lucky this has not happened while in an intersection or while trying to avoid a collision. The dealership will not even look into the problem if they cannot re-create the incident which happens at unpredictable times. This has the potential for serious injury not only for me but others.

1) during the period of placing the manual 6 speed into first gear, the gear will sporadically pop out and abruptly back into neutral. It does not seem to make any difference as to the temperatures nor conditions outside. It occurs under normal driving conditions. (state/city road 2wd)2) the failure is that without warning in a sporadic state, 1st gear while engaged and moving at either 1 - 10 mph will abruptly pop out of first and land in neutral with a loud thud when occurring. This is a dangerous issue in that if one is pulling onto a road to go with or against traffic and this occurs, the end result could be life threatening. If one pulls onto a road and a car is moving at 40 mph and is unable stop, a high probability exists whereas a t-bone accident could occur thus causing death. Within 2500 miles, this incident has occurred 10+ times. 3) a service visit is currently scheduled, although if it is a collar or synchronizing issue, it will as likely as not be repaired. The incident does not duplicate time after time. As i mentioned, it has occurred it 10+ times within 2500 miles. Roughly 2.5% of the time within the 0 miles to 2500 miles this issue has occurred. However, this is not the most accurate result due to 1st gear only being utilized when pulling out from a stand still. A vast majority of mileage is added within the 4 - 6 range. 2009 jeep wrangler x, 2dr.

A handful of instances over the past month, my 2009 jeep wrangler violently and unexpectedlypops out of first gear upon acceleration. This could result in a rear end collision, potential accident while crossing traffic lanes or upon acceleration onto a highway like thesawmill parkway where you enter the highway from a dead stop. In addition to the potential catastrophic results due to an accident, the shifter when it violently disengages can result in a damage to the drivers hand or fingers. My fingers to a significant hit the first time i experienced the problem.through a search on the internet,i see that this has happened to other wrangler owners.

When you try to take off your seat belt it is stuck and wont release. No matter what you do. You have to rip it out.

After hitting a pot hole jeep started to shake violently, would not stop until it came to a complete stop.it has happened several time since.

October 30 2010 i purchased a second hand jeep wrangler year model 2009. In the span on one week i have twice experienced what is referredon many forums and web pages on the internet as "death wobble". My first experience with this was at 55mph while crossing railroad tracks. After crossing the railroad tracks the front end of my motor vehicle began to shake from left to right in a very violent manner this forced me to pull to the side of the road out of concerns for safety. The second incident occurred three days later while traveling at 65 mph on the highway. I hit a bump in the road which again caused the front of my vehicle to shake in such a violent manner that the tires were chirping and i was forced to come to almost a complete stop to bring the vehicle safely under my control. This vehicle is not modified in any way, tracks straight going down the road and has tires on it which would be consistent with the 21,500 miles reflected on the odometer.

Steering freezes while driving.the steering stiffens so hard during turns (in drive or reverse and either left or right), that the wheel is frozen stuck in whatever that turn position is and no amount of all-muscle force helps, the direction of the vehicle and any turning of the steering wheel to straighten the wheels is increasingly not an option. Recently this occurred while left turning onto the highway at approx 10mph. It very often happens while simply parking (parallel or backing in). Took jeep to a chrysler-jeep dealer for an oil&lube and advised them of the issue and for them to check it out, they stated couldn't find anything wrong (!). Yesterday i paid $55 for same dealer to check again, this time they recommended replacing 'steering gear box' for $1100 warranty expired part. Thinking this may be covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty (engine/transmission/drive system per chrysler-jeep's web site) that came with the jeep (that i had to prove was ever offered by chrysler (had to find original manufacture sticker that was on the window of jeep when i selected it for purchase & my original purchase papers), as they did not want to honor (!!!), i called chrysler customer care, whose rep stated "part was only covered under basic warranty, not the lifetime". Aaugh!researched jeep forum online to find that many jeep wrangler owners have issues with the steering gear box used by chrysler that go well beyond steering wheel freezing up while driving. What if someone does a center lane left at a major intersection and the steering freezes...stuck in left turn position? please please force recall on jeeps steering gear box before people get hurt. Turning left onto a highway and the steering freezes in the left turn position leaving me to envision going over the embankment into morning rush hour. I beg you, please before people get hurt it they haven't already.

At around 60 mph i experienced what is called the death wobble. Very difficult tocontrol. After getting off the freeway and stopped, i could not find anything wrong. Resumed travel and all was ok until i hit a bump in the road. Again had the death wobble.

The gas tank started leaking due to the skid plate supporting it rotting.i saw the gas on my driveway so i took it to my mechanic who put it on a lift and showed me the problem

When driving between 45 and 55 mph the jeep will begin to violently shake so bad it is hard to control the steering wheel, and the only remedy is to slow down or come to a complete stop.the violent shaking is intermittent, i am able to drive the same route with no problem, and other times the vehicle will go into a violent shake.

After hitting a pot hole jeep started to shake violently, would not stop until it came to a complete stop.it has happened several time since.

Violent shaking of front end at highway speedvehicle is all oem not modifiedalignment and tires okstarted to shake sterring wheel moving 1/2" up/downdifficult to hold and steer to side of road needed to stop to get the vibrations to endhas occured on two other ocassions still under warrantydealer claims no knowledge of "death wobble" problemsrefered to in several jeep blogs.

While traveling at 75 mph in the left lane i wandered over the yellow line and the left front tire ran over the indented 'wake up' impressions in the asphalt at which time my front end began violently shaking like i was driving a jack hammer.i began to brake and made it across 6 lanes of traffic before i could come to a stop. The shaking did not stop until icame to a stop.i inspected the front end components and all were fine.i slowly drove off and the problem no longer existed.this problem is 'death wobble' and is all over jeep message forums on the internet.

While entering highway at 60 mph, while merging i crossed over a roadway lane seam which seemed to actuate a harmonic vibration in the front suspension which increased to a dangerous uncontrollable and violent shaking making control of the vehicle extremely difficult. This shaking continued while i slowed and crossed 2 lanes of traffic to the shoulder and stopped only after i came to a full stop. Inspected front suspension for damage and saw none. I continued on my trip with no other incident. This condition is inherent in wranglers and often referred to in jeep message boards as the "wrangler death wobble". Dealer rotated and rebalanced tires and installed new steering damper in hopes that might solve the issue. The potential for causing an accident is very real.

Front axle upper and lower ball joints showing abnormal wear and movement. Dealer claims wear and play in joints is normal even though the factory service manual says the parts are worn and need to be replaced.

The problem is the totally integrated power module. The front windshield wipers activate on there own with no control. The gauge cluster shuts down and all the dash lights turn on. You loose ability to control turn signals and headlights. The radio turns off. The airbag light comes on.this may occour at any time.

We have been experiencing severe wobbling of our vehicle.this has occurred three times while driving approx. 65 mph, on a city free way. The wobbling has been initiated where slabs of road meet, especially if it is not even one. On all wobbling occasions were fortunate enough to find ourselves on an outside line. We were able to control the wobbling by holding the steering wheel and slowly pulling over on to the shoulder.i have had all the brakes replaced, front and rear shocks and coils replaced and tire lubed.we are still driving the vehicle very carefully by avoiding rough areas on the road.

Dash cluster flickers, jeep shuts off while driving, sometimes starts threw out stall on its own. Won't start all the time. Have an issue we're my battery cables are massively melted causing smoke.

I was traveling around 50-55 mph on a straight road, when the jeep started shakingviolently and i almost lost control.i had to pull over and come to a stop.i was very shaken up. I did have it looked over to see if anything was wrong.couldn't find anything (tires, tie-in rods, ball joints, and alignment).this was the first time it happened, it happened again.i found out they call this the jeep death wobble.i checked to see if there was a recall, but didn't see one.i can't believe there isn't a recall on this with all the complaints i've read.don't wait till someone gets killed.

Gas/accelerator pedal sticking, causing vehicle to throttle and accelerate uncontrollably and the engine to rev when the clutch is pressed. This happens while driving.
