Seatbelt connector and sensor issues.intermittently seatbelt, airbag and parking brake senor keeps going off and will not stop while driving.i feel unsafe to drive my car while all these senor are going off.i fear the seatbelt, air bag and parking bake will malfunction while i'm driving.
My 2016 jeep renegade was involved in an accident october 4th, vehicle totaled but no airbags deployed even though the renegade was on and there was a passenger (buckled in) in the vehicle. Had fca run their 'investigation' though they will not share the results of which with me even though i've asked. Their response 'your request for our inspection report is proprietary, paid for by us, belongs to us, and therefore, unavailable for distribution. If you disagree with our handling, you certainly have the right to hire your owner inspector, at your expense, to examine the vehicle . We have closed the file regarding this matter.' both my insurance adjuster and body shop (who asked for the investigation) stated that based on the impact (crushed rear and driver side) should have set off the airbags though they didn't and the passenger was injured, why won't they share the report?
My computer had started to glitch within less than 100 miles of me buying the car i was told it was because the oil was low now i have a service engine light and within a day my car has lit up like a christmas tree with every light power steering has gone and i've already gotten an accident worth almost the whole car -1 grand so it was not totaled nor can anybody explain why my car did this and i got the blame for it when i have no control over this car this needs to be recalled this happened to me on the highway and side roads i have no e break and i cannot steer my wheel nor do i know if the airbags are even going to work because i got an a $10,000 accident and they did not go off.*dt*dt
I am reporting a possible safety problem that has developed over recent months with my 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk 4x4.the vehicle has a recurring malfunction with the driver side seat electrical wiring assembly.the problem occurs intermittently after the seatbelt is properly secured and there is normal body movement in the driver seat while the vehicle is either in motion or stationary. The problem so far affects several of the electronic subsystems connected to the vehicle's driver seat.this malfunction has caused temporary or permanent disabling of the driver seat power controls, airbag system, electronic parking brake system and seatbelt warning system.
Seat belt light comes on dings the service airbag light comes on and the emergency brake light all at the same time.no one seems to be able to fix this problem.it does not seem to affect the driving but would have no idea if the airbags would deploy correctly.also today while driving to work they all stayed on the entire time while dinging for over 20 mins.i have taken it to the dealership many times with no resolve.some say it will not do it there some say they fixed it by taking off the negative battery cable for 40 mins that worked for like 1 day then all the lights are back.is am so frustrated with this jeep and the lack of help.i have no idea if this car is safe for my kids with the airbag, seat belt and emergency brake lights constantly on while driving.this happens when i turn the car on, or they can all just come on while driving.it is at such random times but it is everyday!

I turned on my jeep renegade with the automatic start button in like 30 weather. I drove it down the highway for about 10 minutes and the service engine light turned on. I also had the air bag, brake warning sign turn on. I stopped to put gas and just the service engine light stayed on. I had a diagnostic test done with code p0128- thermostat failure. Had to have it replaced in canada since i am on a temporary work permit. So it cost me an arm and a leg for service. Checked online and many people have had the same problem.
The airbag system warning light and the power steering warning intermittently go on and physical loss of power steering is felt. This happens both while at idle stationary and driving in traffic on both highway and city.*dt
I believe there is a problem with the electrical system with this 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk which i bought new in 01/07/2017. These problems below happen at random times: driving city, highway, parked. Started around 1300 miles which was around 02/12/2017; last time i picked it up from the dealer was 06/30/2017 which they had it for 10 days.freezing cluster, rear reverse camera staying on while in drive, alarm going on and off on its own. The main safety concern i have and have been back to the dealer three times in 6,000 miles with no solutions: is the alarms of 'service electronic parking brake' alert going on which is 90% time paired up with 'service airbag system' alert going on, and the seatbelt warning system flashing on. Sometimes it will clear itself, other times it will clear when i stop turn the car off, and then back on. Dealer says there is no errors in the system, and it didn't happen while they had the vehicle.july 5 still going on more frequently. I called dealer twice in the last five days and i have not received a call back.i do not feel safe in my vehicle, i have personally witnessed while working on a fire engine and ambulance that air bags sometimes do not get deployed for various reasons, and the out come is sometimes not good for the passengers. I have also seen that when air bags deploy properly it can save lives. I do not trust my vehicle for the safety of my family and i.i do have all documentation from the dealership. As well as video's on my iphone of this happening.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving approximately 10 mph and attempting to avoid other vehicles, the contact's vehicle slightly struck the rear driver's side of another vehicle. All the frontal air bags in the contact's vehicle deployed. There was no warning indicator illuminated. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was slightly damaged and was pushed to the side of the road. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was not diagnosed and it was undetermined if it was considered totaled. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Car looses power steering and power and does not shut off and air bags are not on while driving
When driving car, beeping occurs (as if someone is riding and not buckled) and parking brake and air bag lights flash on dash board.saw online that many people have this issue w their renegade as well. Dealership wants to charge $175 just to check it out. Please help!
Dashboard reports parking lights, turn signal indicators, and brake lights are not working.they work fine.this appears identical to recall 17v485000 which was for 2017 jeep renegades.
Dash board reports parking lights, turn signal indicator, brake lights not working. They are working fine when checked. Appears to be identical to recall 17v485000 for the 2017 model jeep renegade
Multiple times when taking off from a stop, under completely dry conditions with clean pavement, the vehicle traction control system has kicked in.the only way to get it to turn off has been to come to a complete stop again, which is very dangerous when pulling out onto a 55mph highway.
Electrical. Service 4x4 reoccuring. Dealer can't figure out. 4x4 not working when light is on. Whole dash board lit up today and prompted 4x4 service then just went to service 4x4( as in picture below)randomly turns on and off with seemingly no rhyme or reason. Was in dealer 8 days last week. Got back couple days ago, going into dealer next week to see if they can figure out, again. Prob lose jeep for couple more days. Jeep sees more of dealer than my own garage. They have given rental each time which i applaud since is under warranty and less than 1 yr old but i have a dog and obligations so makes very inconvenient.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the vehicle would independently start without inserting the key in the ignition. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,700.*dsy see also 10904646.
At 38,000 miles my cooling fan came loose while driving. Took to dealership and was told warranty would not cover. My seatbelt sensor and other sensor lights are lighting up randomly so i'm not sure if there is an emergency or if the sensors are just faulty. Both of these issues could result in an accident. All of this while driving although the sensors are while stationary too.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 2 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. Huntington beach chrysler jeep of huntington beach, california was made aware of the failure on two occasions and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in to be serviced. The second time the failure occurred, the dealer stated that the failure was due to a software glitch at 500 miles. The dealer was contacted again for the failure that recurred at 1,300 miles, but the vehicle was not taken in for service. The contact did not notify anyone the first time the failure occurred. The manufacturer stated that it was not their responsibility and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was 500.
Intermittent check parking break, check air bag warning keeps coming on. Also will not recognize when driver seat belt is engaged. This happens when the vehicle is started and at least one of the three warnings will stay on when the vehicle is in motions.
2016 jeep renegade trailhawk loss of power accelerating from a stopped position, turning/merging into traffic form a slowed/stopped position, vehicle stopping up hill. 13,200 miles the 'check engine' light on, engine powered down twice when pulling out from a stop & turning left w/ slight incline, once going straight across a 2-lane hwy, & engine powering down when merging. Dealership said due to an update needed. Two wks after the update, engine powers down making a right turn form a stop sign. Dealership couldn't replicate & told to drive careful. A few wks later, i was stopped at a stop sign. I made a left-hand turn w/ an incline. As i started accelerating, the renegade suddenly lost speed & ceased to move as i was pressing the gas petal. Those few seconds of pulling out w/ oncoming traffic could quickly lead to a wreck when you lose power in the middle of the road. I felt a great deal of panic, distrust of my renegade. I feared for my safety. I take the renegade back to the shop no real resolve. I was driving up a steep hill at which time my renegade completely stopped as i was nearing the top of the hill. As you can imagine, this was terrifying to say the least! when the renegade stopped, i was fortunate enough to not have anyone following behind me. However, due to the angle & steepness of the hill, i was panicked the renegade would roll down. I never put my foot on the break & continued to pump the gas. After about 5 pumps on the gas, the renegade began to slowly accelerate. I was going at a rate of speed of around 30mph, 1/4 of tank of gas, & driving for about 10 mins before incident. Chrysler isn't taking this issue seriously. I have been in contact w/ them on a corp. Level as well. The renegade has had 3 more incidents of losing power when accelerating in a turn from a stop. I fear for my life & am stuck w/ an untrustworthy new vehicle.
Dash display states multiple left side lights are out when no lights are out at all. This has happened every winter since 2016. When headlights are off things seem to be fine on the dash. When i turn headlights off shows bad light in 3 places. Lights are not out. Dash also flickers. I'm weather under 40 service engine indicator comes on, and engine will not function properly. Feels like half of cylinders are firing. Chrysler knows it's a faulty thermostat. Left me stranded 2 winters straight. Thermostat operates normally during spring/summer. While under warranty the technicians at david stanley dodge in midwest city, ok said nothing was wrong with both issues. Refused to fix under warranty. Vehicle is now out of warranty and it will cost nearly $1000 to diagnose and fix. I put today's date in, but it's been happening for the last two years. With the thermostat problem and the electrical problems with the dash there is something seriously wrong with this electrical system. These issues are rampant and all over the forums. Miles when issue occurred are from 800 miles - 70483. I will our current mileage in the 'what was the mileage' block on next page.
After work i got in my renegade trailhawk and turned it on as usual to go home. Upon starting up the vehicle, warning lights came on telling me the headlights, tail lights, blinkers, daytime lights, tag lights, parking lights and back up lights were not working or out. I got out and inspected them only to see they were in fact all still functioning as should be. I got someone from the dealership to look at the issue and was told it would be alright, but definitely get the service department to look at it in the morning. I am having it inspected today by the service department and hopefully the issue will be resolved.
Electric fan assembly for the cooling system failed. Burned up the electric fan, smoke pouring out of the engine bay. Vehicle was in motion on a city street.
Driving on vacation all the sudden my 2016 jeep renegade starts to overheat and making loud noises which appear to be coming from the fan. Immediately pull over. Clearly the fan is defective because a cooling fan shouldn't fail less than 60000 miles. Jeep dealer is charging a little over $700.00 to fix it which involves replacing the fan assembly along with a sensor. Internet research indicates this is a large problem and still continuing.
Driving down the road the car lost power, oil pressure light came off, lost power steering, car shut down. Wouldn't start. Checked oil, called tow truck. I had to push the car back to get it off the road while my husband backed it up to get it off the road. Tow truck got there, put can in neutral, engine light came on and wouldn't go off, car wouldn't turn off emergency brake, pushed it 20 or so times, emergency brake finally turned off so we could back up the car so the tow truck could get it front of it to tow. Car is now at the dealership. We have had nothing but problems with this car and it is dangerously unsafe. The car was in the dealership already this summer for weeks for electrical lights going off and the car continuing to run without the key in the ignition. The jeep renegades need to be took off the road.

Engine cooling fan was replace, paid $100 deuctible on lifetime warranty, was recalled later and fca denied refund of $100 even after dealer processed refund.
The contact's father owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that vehicle shifted into neutral independently while in drive. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated intermittently. In addition, the vehicle would not crank and had difficulty starting. Furthermore, some electrical failures were experienced, including all the windows remained in the down position and would not roll up and the exterior lighting remained illuminated while in operation. The contact associated the power train failure with nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000(power train), which only pertained to the 2014 and 2015 models. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was serviced on several occasions for the various failures. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 47,243.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving different speeds, the traction control, emergency brake and air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an electrical issue. The electrical system was reconfigured, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and demanded to see the repair records. The contact sent therecords to the manufacturer. The failures were not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 645. Updated 06/02/17*ljupdated 10/18/2017
First at 25000 miles engine cooling fan went out and rattled so loud and overheated had to be towed. Took dealership a week just to get the parts. Now at 34000 miles engine died and vehicle stopped on highway on ramp almost causing a severe accident. No engine lights came on. I drove it and would not drive over 10 mph while making a horrible noise than engine dies in middle of the road almost another accident. Finally got restarted and quit again now every light on dash came on. Popped the hood and absolutely no oil in engine! was just at dealership the week before and they did their multipoint inspection and marked oil as full? so in a week it lost 5 quarts of oil? was towed again and sat at dealership for two weeks as they could not figure out engine knocking sound! than they call and said everything checked out fine!??. Drove home smelling burnt oil as always since new and checked dipstick, they overfilled it by at least a quart! unbelievable. Engine runs horrible and in 100 miles has already dropped a quart on dipstick. Blowing oil out exhaust pipe. Can't trust this vehicle and no one has an answer or fix!!???. Total most ridiculous and dangerous thing ever gone through. Somebody will get killed with a vehicle like this. Unbelievable! 2.4l engine

We have had the vehicle for less than a week. My wife commutes my disabled child to a state school every school day. While on her way home the vehicle in question shuttered and died while driving. She was able to get the vehicle off the road and onto a access road. The vehicle then would not start with several attempts. She then called me, who was at work, and i left to help check the car. With limited tools at my disposal, i checked for battery voltage and intake restriction. No problems found. I checked the instrument cluster for fuel and had 2 led bars with no low fuel "dummy" light. Cycled to range till empty section and was showing 60 miles to empty. So i assumed fuel was not the issue, but didn't rule it out. Since she had already driven 60 miles to this point, i assumed ignition was also not a issue. I then unhooked the battery to reset ecm/pcm. Hooked battery back up and tried to crank again with still a no start. I then went with the easy route and obtained a fuel canister with fuel and added 1.5 gallons of fuel to the tank, which increased fuel gauge to 3 led bars. Once above previous 2 led bars the vehicle started with no hesitation. Since this issue i have looked for recalls on programming or any tsb pertaining to this issue with no avail. I have read on forums this same issue happening to other similar vehicles. I find that with out these indicators or the reliability of the range to empty that this could lead to a safety issues depending on the environment the vehicle stalls in.
My radiator fan went out at 50,000 miles therefore out of warranty. I had noticed a few times that i would hear a noise coming from the engine, i took it to the shop and they saw no issues. Fast forward 4 months and i was sitting in traffic and my car began to overheat. I was informed that this is an ongoing issue and that i should submit a complaint to hopefully get a recall on this as i paid a significant amount of money to fix it .
I purchased my jeep in may and it only has 2000 + miles on it . While driving today the parking brake engaged automatically. It did it again 3 times on the freeway while i was on my way to the dealership about it. Every timei slowed down for a car it would engage and send that error. This will be the second time in a month i have had to take it to the dealership for issues. The first one was the overhead console was not working at all.
Car looses power steering and power and does not shut off and air bags are not on while driving
A few months after purchase all the lights on my dashboard and headlights constantly flicker, they get really bright and then they dim down, the acceleration does not work if i slowdown to 5 miles per hour or less, it stalls until i come to a complete stop. My emergency break, seat belt and airbag maintenance lights go off at random times when i first start my car, the dealership cannot duplicate the acceleration issue, and they are not seeing error codes for the airbags, seat belt and emergency break but they have attempted to repair the dashboard lights at least 3-4 times with no permanent solution.
I've been complaining since i've owned the car about electrical issues with the radio light panel including the service panel on the vehicle that tells about the air in the tires and all the maintenance , aswell is stating that it seems like he has an electrical short inside the dash somewhere now the fan on the radiator has caught on fire and has left me without a vehicle this issue started 10 days after buying the vehicle it only had 7000 miles on it then and was having numerous electrical issues causing the radio to malfunction and the panelingthat controls the service and the mileage and the odometer reading's as well as the tire pressure the computer system as a whole has been malfunctioning as well as the radio and now the fire in the van and jeep has done nothing to help me they've ignored me for six days of constant contact left me stranded and left my three kids and ice 🚑🚓 walking home on the interstate 15 miles to get home with no rental car no help they have costly ignore my phone calls the dealerships here won't help me fix it because he said it's out of warranty but i've been complaining about this issue long before the warranty was out but they have ignored me nor my complaints and try to act like it's not a problemwe were driving the vehicle when it caught on fire and we were driving the vehicle and it seemed as if after the vehicle was driving in a motion for about 5 to 7 minutes the problems would start up and it would last the whole time i was driving it
Mileage began flashing. Called dealership, unknown. Random lights illuminating on dash that lights and turn signals were "out" but they were working properly. Shut off vehicle, restart and dash warning lights were gone. At 36000 miles my drivers side rear light component not working. This includes tail light, back up light, break light.unassembledconnector and noticed the middle port appeared melted and black soot noted around the pin on the light that the pigtail connected to. Called dealership to explain, they state i have to pay the diagnostic fee ($120) then pay for labor and cost to fix what they find. Dealership states vehicle is out of warranty for electrical system. Obviously there are many electrical failures. Also i have encountered the stalling of my vehicle twice when turning left and trying to accelerate. My emergency horn went off in the driveway. My sunroof was closing extremely slow (as if it were a motor issue) but worked fine after shutting off and turning vehicle back on. "serv 4wd" displayed once.
Ever since we bought the jeep it's had problems. Problems included shuttering, electrical malfunctioning, and door locks failing. Even problems with the sun roof. Each time we took it back to the dealership the jeep was returned with 'no problem found'. Just recently the service engine light came on and we took the jeep to get serviced. The mechanic told us about an issue or recall that's been occurring to our model jeep.
On the screen everyday as you drive the car on local streets or interstate it show a warning that says system requires service. Vehicle requires service please contact your dealer. When this pops up the milage starts blinking and the emergency 911 and assistance button lights up. Took it to the dealer and they can not find any wrong with it. It started back in late october and continues to happen.
The airbag system warning light and the power steering warning intermittently go on and physical loss of power steering is felt. This happens both while at idle stationary and driving in traffic on both highway and city.*dt
While driving and with the vehicle in motion the brake, airbag and seatbelt warning lights illuminated along with a chime. Took to dealership and was told that battery was faulty and was replaced under warranty. 8 days after we got the car back the same thing happened on starting the car before putting the car in motion. Immediately returned to dealer and was told again that issue was the battery. And that it was our fault that we did not drive the car enough even though we had driven the car 3 times in that 8 days.
While driving the car loses power and the message "shift to park"appears then the car stalls. The car was traveling less than 25mph.the car may or may not start afterwards. The battery was replaced but the same problem occurs. This has occurred multiple times and has stranded me. It doesn't matter the outside weather conditions.
The car engine shuts down unexpectedly while driving. Bought the car from autonation 3 months ago. I noticed the oil low pressure just started to come with the shutdown. This is very dangerous if driving on the highway. This model needs to be recalled because i found hundreds of similar situations online.
Multiple issues since i purchased new.dealer confirmed computer sending codes to transmission causing it to not shift properly.at times, you could not accelerate or extremely low gas mileage.on an interstate going up and down mountains with 18-wheelers, this is terrifying.all lights shutting off randomly including headlights, brakes, blinkers, dash, etc while driving down the road.the worst issue is i have had is the doors locking my child in.i put him in the vehicle as normal, when i went around to get in, all the doors had locked and would not open.the police busted a window to get him out.after confirmed he was ok, i went out to see what was going on with the vehicle.the dash was blinking a message and the locks were still acting up.after cranking, everything returned to normal.updated 9/12/18
Car hit 40000 miles and radiator fan started making squealing noise and now dosen't cut on at all. Jeep has almost overheated because of this
Driving on rainy day.going anywhere from 30 to 55 mph.all idiot lights came on the dash.said service everything lost power steering lost power brakes.
After approximately 10-15 minutes after starting car. Driving 30+ mph down a city street, car stopped moving and shut off.gear shift showed car was in drive, radio was on but dashboard said press break pedal and push button to start. Turned car off, then back on and engine tried to turnover but would not start. After approximately 3-5 minutes, car started again.this has happened 3 times under all similar conditions. The first time it happened it took 4 attempts to restart before car would turn on. Two days later same happened twice in a row spanning 4 minutes apart from each other. All under same conditions. 30+ mph moving straight on city street. *dt
Software issue in that instrument warning lights come on at at time. Possibly giving you false warning of what is happening with vehicle. Happens when switch is turned on and stays on for long time.it happened five times over past year; dealership saw it happen once but did nothing to correct the problem.also came when vehicle was in motion.sounds same as 2017 electrical system recall 17v4485000.
The instrument lights come on and tell me my lights are out and they are not.the radio is all jacked up clock is off the navigation doesn't know where i am or if there is a road there or not.been on phone with uconnect several times and to dealer several times and nothing
While driving, there is a clunk sound when the engine tries to switch gears. Also, the brake lights, turn signal lights, etc have a warning light that flashes saying the lights are out even when the lights are still working. I also had to replace he cooling fan in may 2018 due to my vehicle stopping, wouldn't drive, wouldn't start.
The radiator fan assembly went out at 40,000 miles and i replaced it and now it isn't working and blowing fuses.
The car stops and turns off while in motion. Car lights turn on but engine will not turn on. Had battery replaced twice. The car won't turn off even after pushing the button and exiting the vehicle. Lights won't turn off . Key fob is detectedwhen not near and not detected when inside car. Have gone to the extents of unplugging battery to reset computer after hours it will then turn on and work for about 1 week. With light issues in between. It's become a hazzard since the car will just turn off while driving and will not turn on even with a jump start from a tow truck. The car will become dead 100 percent. Only lights turn in at times until battery gets drained out. Then nothing works.
Starting around 5,000 miles the car became unreliable and had safety issues. The car would randomly display warning messages. While turning onto a main road, the car shut off but turned back on right away. Car had acceleration issues, merging into highway, semis would honk and almost hit me. Took up to 1 min to reach 70mph. Parking brake engaged while driving. Upon starting the vehicle and trying to reverse, it would display a warning to place vehicle in park before shifting gears and would not reverse until i placed in park and turned the car off/on again. Often the car wouldn't shut off, or would take between 5min-4 hours to turn back on. Messages that would display while driving include "service air bags" "service electronic parking brake" "service brake system" service power steering." "dynamic steering torque service" sometimes the messages would display for hours on end, and the car wouldn't turn off and the battery would die. Key fob not detected displayed while driving on city streets and highway.
Electric cooling fan motor fails and causes vehicle to over heat.
At less than 1000 miles on my 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk appeared to have had an electrical issue where when started alerts for all lights are being seen (brake light failure, headlight failure, turn signal failure, fog light failure, etc.) however all lights appear to work.the only anomoly that i saw was that when the turn signals were engaged they blinked faster than normal.in older vehicles this was a sign of an electrical short.after shutting the car off for approximately 30 minutes, the alerts clear.i have had the issue occur again at 1800 miles.again the alarms cleared out after some time.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While stationary, the vehicle started on its own. The contact smelled fumes coming from the garage where the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 2,900. *dsy see 10904531 also....updated 09/20/16 ..updated 10/13/16 updated 09/06/17
Since purchase electrical system randomly gives all warning lights and will not let me shut off vehicle without unhooking battery and hooking back up. Have had it in shop multiple times for same thing, neither jeep place i have took it to can figure it out and tell me my only option is to have towed in next time it does it and leaving on and "praying their service dept is open when it happens" per rice jeep dodge on alcoa hwy, lenoir city chrysler dodge where purchased told me to get lawyer so i refuse to take back there. Rice dodge has been much more helpful and understanding and not threatening me. Have been working with frank at jeep corporate and have multiple open cases
Radiator fan making rattle noise. It has 36011 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While starting the vehicle and driving unknown speeds, the parking brake, air bag, and seat belt warning indicators illuminated. Additionally, the contact heard an abnormal chiming noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to the local dealer. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
Electrical issues continue with blinkers, brake lights, tail lights. Replaced battery, replaced cooling fan. Stationary, and when in motion.
Car has 60000 miles on it. I went to turn the car on and all service lights popped up (transmission service, check engine and oil change).went to put car and drive and would not go out of park.i used the shift lock release to get out of gear and once in drive or reverse, car would not move and only engine would rev.after researching, i found many other jeep renegades had a computer issue where it needed to be reset.dealership wont fix unless under warranty.
My vehicle's connector to the passenger side tail light has a burn mark on the middle pin of the connector.i have found countless others on forums with the same issue, where the connector to their tail light fried, thus causing the brake light, blinker, and reverse lights to be unusable which is a safety issue that can not be fixed by simply changing a bulb.the vehicle was stationary when the error first occurred.
At less than 100 miles on 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk appeared to have had an electrical issue where when started alerts are displayed in the message center for for various lights(brake light failure, headlight failure, turn signal failure, etc.) the left turn signal began blinking slowly as if it was hesitating, the right turn signal blinked extremely fast, but the headlights and brake lights appeared to be working. This started happening on day 2 of ownership, as i was navigating through a parking lot after starting the car. I drove it a short distance to another parking lot, turned off the car, and waited a couple minutes before restarting the car. The problem continued.
Odometer blinking/flashing
Driving on highway at 70 mph up a minor incline, the vehicle started hesitating/chugging and then the accelerator pedal stopped responding. Vehicle stalled and coasted to stop where the idle was rough and then died. Initially, would restart, but then stall out. For the next 3 hours (while waiting for a tow), the electrical system was flaking out - intermittently flashing any error in its wheelhouse. Restarted next day and idle very rough/misfiring, engine light blinking and decent cloud of black smoke generated. Initial report from shop is that the engine oil is sludge (changed 5k miles ago), battery is completely dead (was already replaced at 15k miles) and a spark plug end is bent and in horrific shape. Vehicle has 25k miles and has been in service for 4.2 years.
Vehicle starts engine. However all emergency and warnings lights go on. Brakes and steering lock. Car will not shut off until battery is unpluged. This happens repeatedly and randomly.
Steering wheel locks while driving; vehicle will not turn off after key is removedbody controls module
I have a jeep renegade 2016 sport i have been having this weird issue with it where it has a notice that says service 4 wheel drive then completely shut the car off while driving i have looked up this issue and it seems other jeep buyers with the same model have these issues too i don't think it's safe to have these cars out for buying when the clearly have a defect that need fixing
Cooling fan motor failing with 38,000 miles on the odometer. When the fan comes on it begins to wobble and make clicking noises. This renegade is a 2016. This part should not be failing.
Had this car since 2016,only 39,289miles,no problems whatsoever, and then i did this recall thing the 12th of july 2021,and today the 14th of july 2021 i have an engine light on,i have this horrible noise when i turn it on,i am so pissed and mad!!!really mad!!!techs should not touch anything else than whats is called for to be fixed!!!i feel that when we take the cars they mess things out so we,the customers have to end up putting money since is free, they need customers to go back and spend on something that it didnā€™t needed it from the beginning!!!like i said 6yrs and not a problem, even have a multi point inspection sheet that it shows everything was great!!!i am scare to take back, because now iā€™m going to end up paying for their mistakes/fault/unprofessional work.i am so disappointed, upset, mad.i was planning to buy there again, but now iā€™m re thinking bout it!it wonā€™t get fixed i know i will end up paying, but i want to make a complaint so that way at least it will pile with other people who end up having the same problems!why do mechanics do that,or techs do it!if is not broken, donā€™t fix it please.they should take an integrity test and not take advantage of the situation.
Fan rattles vehicle overheats ac not working notice all this when came to a stop and was idling.
When driving the car and entering the on ramp to the freeway the car lost the ability to accelerate. It appeared the gas peddle was inactive and the car was in neutral. It notified me with alight "electronic stability control" then the car suddenly went back into gear. I was concerned but was lead to believe this was part of the design. Suddenly without warning and for no reason at 25k miles the battery suddenly died. All lights came on in the car. It had no power and would not turn on. The dealership said "the battery just failed".in aug i was shocked to turn on the car and have a message that says "change oil" well before an oil change is due. This was the first time i had seen this light because i am always on time with car maintenance. The $84.77 seems to have been spent on an unnecessary oil change, if this continues i will not be able to afford the constant oil changes.mostly recently and most concerning on tuesday the 29th of sep. I was leaving for a medical appointment and when i turned on the car it said every light in the car was out. My neighbor came over and verified that i was missing several lights. The car was inoperable and i was stranded. I was able to get a ride, but when i got home a few hours later, i turned on the car and all the lights worked perfectly fine. With the above mentioned i am concerned for my safety, for the safety of others i share the road with, and the reliability of my 2016 jeep renegade
Driver rear light (backup, blinker and brake) lights stopped working. When i was checking the bulbs it appears that the middle pin on the wiring harness has caused a short that broke the pin and also melted some of the harness. The vehicle has 53,000 miles on it. I looked online and there have been several other 2016 jeep renegades that have had the same issue in the last year. We have had intermentant issues with the lighting system freaking out but it never effected the performance and would reset its self after about 25 miles. The dealership we took it to said that the vehicle needed a software update which they did. It seemed to correct that issue as it has only happened once in the last 20,000 miles or so. But this seems to be a bigger issue.
Vehicle shuts off while driving as well as taking turns. Just shuts off with no warning. After it shuts off the lightning bolt in parentheses (electronic throttle control system) comes on, then goes away. Car shows as still running, but won't move. Sometimes the low oil gauge comes on, but the vehicle is up to date with oil changes. Very unsafe for vehicle to just "stop moving" or "shut off" in the middle of driving, or in the middle of an intersection. This has happened on and off for about 4 months, but now it is daily.
The guide lines have disappeared on the reverse camera.
For the second time in 3 years the engine fan has stopped working causing frequent overheating while idle. After the first instance, the fan was replaced and seemed to be ok (fall 2018) now the vehicle is overheating again due to the fan not turning on. Local mechanics claim it is an electrical issue that they cannot fix.
My 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk vehicle has an intermittent problem in the driver seat electrical wiring.the driver seat power switches controlling the seat movement have become non-operational.the problem occurs without warning and present a possible safety issue is the case of an accident.in the event of an accident, the driver seat would be lock into a position locking the driver in the seat of the vehicle.
Outside air temperature off by 100 degrees. Effects other functions. Check engine light also on. Was replaced under warranty less than 2 years ago for same thing.
When vehicle is stationary while warming up. Grinding noise started. Turned off the engine and checked the hood. Couldn't see anything so i carried on. Later in traffic, grinding noise from engine compartment starts. Temperature shoots into red, and i start smelling something burning. Engine light came on and found it was the cooling fan. Doing some research online came to find out this a problem with tons of other people. I feel this is a known manufacturer's defect that should be recalled. Failure can happen at any time and could result in a blown motor and/or other damages resulting in a vehicle crash causing serious injury or death. I'm glad i was able to pull over and shut the vehicle off before anything major happend. These fans should be living a 100,000 mile life. But it's happening at 30,000-70,000 miles. Jeep will not cover this under warranty as they say it isn't part of the drivetrain. After reading numerous complaints about this problem i feel this is a known manufacturer's defect that should be recalled. The problem is so widespread that jeep ran out of them and had/has long wait times. During this period the vehicle is unusable. This is really unacceptable for such a newer model vehicle. My vehicle is currently at 52,000 miles and now i'm going to have to pay $350 in repairs along with the $150 part.
All right rear lamps failed due to wiring hardness with center grounding wire burnt.rear lamps are no longer functional.also this would have cause a spark, enough in the right circumstances to cause a fire, and consider it a safety concern.bulbs when out when out after replacing when out again this lead me to investigate and saw the burnt ground wire.i called the dealership and ask if any recalls and told me they would look at it and also charge 130 diagnostic charge .i believe you have a similar complaint on this issue.please investigate.
Due to unknow reasons the driver side power seat positional controls in my jeep renegade have become uncontrollable and unpredictable in their functionality. The driver power seat malfunction lingers despite several time-consuming vehicle examinations by a fca local authorized jeep dealership service agent. This issue presents a safety and health hazard to me while operating the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While attempting to start the vehicle, several warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the parking brake, coolant hot, and air bag warning indicators were illuminated. After thirty minutes of attempting to start the vehicle, a tow truck company was contacted to have the vehicle towed; however, the tow truck driver was able to jumpstart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure recurred once. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 62,000.
The connector to the brake lights (where the wires meets bulbs) melted and has caused my right rear lights to malfunction. I was told the warehouse the part was ordered from had 8 of the parts in stock and that it wasn't normal for that many to be available.
Suv has a electrical problem causing the car to lose acceleration when pulling out into heavy traffic areas that require fast acceleration. The car also has random electronic messages that flash on the dash and the blind spot system goes off at various unnecessary times. The acceleration issue is very dangerous and i have had it to the dealer 4 times with no resolve!!! this could pose to be a serious issue if traffic is heavy and we are trying to merge into lanes or pull out into traffic lanes!!!! happens when pulling away from a dead stop, car starts in motion and then just looses momentum and slowly rolls forward and after seconds pass it will start to reaccelerate again. This has happened 8 to 10 times over the first year of ownership. The last time being yesterday nov 20th 2017
While driving my 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk on a city street it began accelerating rapidly on its own. I began engaging the brakes to try to slow the vehicle initially and the engine continued to the point of redline. I attempted to shift the car into neutral but the command center kept overriding my input; i was finally able to jam the car into neutral by slamming the palm of my hand into the shifter driving forcing the neutral shift. I was able to pull off to the should of the road where the car continued running at redline for several minutes while i attempted to stomp on the accelerator hoping to get the vehicle to disengage. Due to the electronic controls you cannot turn the car off while in neutral and the engine running at such high rpms. After roughly 10 attempts at stomping on the accelerator hoping to get the vehicle to respond it dropped to a standard idle. Only being a short distance from my neighborhood at the time of incident i limped the car back home. During that time the traction control light began flashing, the battery light came on, the temp sensor spiked to max temp, the oil pressure warning light came on and the a/c began to blow hot and the engine light came on. Upon safely pulling in my driveway it smelled of a hot burning rubber/oil smell and there was some type of fluid leaking from the car that appeared to be the synthetic oil.
When driving, my check engine light comes on. Then the service 4 wheel drive light flashes and i'm unable to use my 4 wheel drive. My car shuts off at stop signs, on its own and the air bag lights come on. After reading about this, it sounds like it's a very common issue with the renegades. This is super disappointing and unsafe.
Navigation issues. Navigation system is improperly calibrated.
This condition would present a safety hazard in the event a speedy evacuation is necessary.
Ambient outside sensoris not working properly and causing the air conditioning and my heater to not work properly.my outside temperature reads 131 degreesand its 43 degrees outside. This happen every time i drive it ,the whole time i am driving itnow i have to replace the whole passenger side mirror which is going to cost 325.00 which i think is ridiculous.
My car stopped brand new in the middle of the freeway on the first road trip from california to utah driving at 80mph (there are some parts in utah where that's the speed limit) and it almost caused an accident driving on i-15 since there were 18 wheelers driving next to me and lost complete control of the car i had to get out of the car and push it to the shoulder, luckily all the drivers were able to stop for me to do it.
I am concerned that key fob to our 2016 renegade does not work well at all. I have replaced the battery but still haveproblems locking and unlocking doors. I worry when the key fob takes a long time to open the doors i have to hover key fob over door handle to see if it reads it, this happens when i pick up the kids from school, or running to their game's and practices, and it happens on rainy days too. I can't get in my car and i worry for my safety and thatof my kids because we're standing outside the vehiclewaiting to see if doors will unlock. It doesn't make sense that we cannot get into our car. I have read that this is a recurring issue with key fobs. I need this issued resolved.
Traction control engaging too aggressively . Tc seems to come one when not needed during turns and the engine loses power.
Multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard when starting vehicle while no problems exist. Warning lights stay on at all times. Chrysler has a recall number "t50" on jeep renegade 2017 models.
Various warning lights will come on, especially at colder ambient temperatures. High coolant temp warning when it's below zero. Check the parking brake after i've starting driving, etc. Nav 6.5 cannot seem to stay connected to satellite radio and constantly has to re-load (during this time, no sound will broadcast from radio). Also, takes up to 5 minutes minutes for the nav 6.5 to load - so often i have to go without the backup camera. Also, when getting in car and on a phone call, the call will not transfer to the car immediately. It's so slow that i am missing the conversation because during the process of transferring the call the sound from the call is completely cut off on the phone and hasn't yet come through to the car's speakers. I am putting today's date on the form, but these things happen every single day that i drive the car. I have had it for 2.5 years and it has 16.7k miles.
Car had 25000 miles. Got stuck in traffic and started over heating. Fan was rattling and found to be bad. We have replaced the fan 3 times since then at $400 a pop. This needs to be a recall or a fix implemented soon. Can't afford monthly payments x2 due to replacing fan every month.
Was in motion on city street and power steering / traction control randomly cut out causing the vehicle to loose control. This has happened several times. The power will cut the engine sometimes and other times the car just drifts and i cannot control it. I have almost seriously wrecked because of it twice. *dt
For the last year on and off the warning lights illuminate( service air bags, parking brake, electronic throttle cable, check engine light, power steering light), etc. Last week we were driving with the kids, went to park, got back into the vehicle, started it and all the lights started going off. My husband turned the key to off, pulled it out, and the car kept running. We brought it into the dealer only to have them replace the seatbelt. We got the car back and it happened again today. We were driving, all the lights kept going off, including the power steering light which turns off the power steering so we pulled into a gas station only to turn the key to the off position, pulled the key out and the car kept running. We called the dealer and brought it back in to be serviced. The car is dangerously unsafe!
The vehicle with only 340 miles electrical system went completely haywire with all the warning lights and displays going off and the transmission disengaging, right in the middle of a busy intersection.very dangerous.had to turn off, move gear shift back and forth, then start car and get transmission to move off the road.warning lights take turns going off and usually following the airbag warning the transmission disengages.dangerous!
Sluggish acceleration loses power briefly when speed is reduced and trying to increase again. Loses power when turning from stop sign to street. Losee power from exiting lot to main highway. Has been happenig off and on since new purchase 2016 dealership no help. Last time happened 8-23-18 turned from stop sign would not accelerate right away. Was seconds in middle of road. Dash lights go off go off while driving or when starting. I have to turn off vehicle to get them to come back on. Last time on highway 8-22-18 50 miles from my house. Doesnt happen all the time. My jeep.was purchased in july 2016 and has 17,500 miles. I am afraid to travel too far with it. This is a safety concern with me i live in country and need to travel 20 to 50 miles to doctors.
This truck has been a nightmare. The first year i had it i had to take it to the dealership 7 times because my emergency brake would randomly turn on. They finally figured out it was an electrical problem. Last month i started the car and it was running like it had 150, 000 miles on it (it only has 42,000) and the service engine light came one. Took it to the dealership and i was told on the phone the the o2 sensor was bad and i needed a tuneup... But when i refused to pay the dealership $700 for the work the story changed when i went to pick up the car. They then told me they broke the o2 sensor when replacing a fan that had been recalled. While driving o the highway yesterday every light on the dash came on. Once i got home a turn it off and back on only the service engine light came back on. I have no clue what im going to do with this $35,000 lemon. I can only guess the car still has electrical issues or the engine is about to die at 42,000 miles even though i have have kept up with all required maintenance through the dealership. But i do know i will never buy another chrysler product again in my life
We purchased a brand new 2016 jeep renegade latitude on june 11, 2016. On july 1, 2016 at approximately 400 miles the car began to malfunction. On july 1, the vehicle was started via the push-start ignition and ran until the windshield wipers were powered on, at which point the car shook violently, several dash indicator lights came on (engine, parking break, etc.) and the car continued to idle heavily and shutter until the engine killed. Upon restarting, only the engine light was showing, so my husband began to drive it to the dealership. Approximately 3 miles later, at top speeds of 40 mph the car's accelerator and power steering failed and he veered off of a two-way highway into a field. The car was towed to the dealership where they "updated the computer" and sent us on our way without acknowledging the extreme safety hazard regarding the finicky computer system that controls the car and can fail at any moment without warning. On july 15, the satellite radio searched for a signal for several hours, with no other symptoms. On july 17, the car failed again, upon ignition. Several dashboard indicator lights came on the and the car could not be shifted into any gear. On july 18 the car would start, but not shift, and again, has been towed to the dealership for service. Today is july 18, so now we're playing a game of "wait and see" if another computer update will "fix" this death-trap of a vehicle. I feel like this car is a hazard to us and anyone around us on the road or sidewalks where we may be forced to veer off to avoid a collision if the system fails again. There needs to be a recall on this vehicle, immediately, before people are injured or die due to a defect that the dealerships and jeep are obviously aware of, but refusing to acknowledge.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and lost power intermittently after the accelerator pedal was depressed. The traction control warning indicator also illuminated. The failure occurred approximately twelve times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as having an engineering software failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the cooling fans were not working and the fuses would blow out, causing the engine to overheat. The contact had to pull the vehicle over and allow it to cool down. The dealer (c & c dodge chrysler jeep, 1305 pike st, building a, marietta, oh 45750, (740) 373-2928) replaced the fan and the fuse assembly. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 38,000. The vin was unknown.*as
On 3 or 4 occasions while driving my jeep renegade latitude 4 x 4 9 speed less than 2,000 miles.in dry conditions my jeeps anti traction light will come on the dash, andi lose all power for 5-10 seconds.it stops, no gas .it doesnt shut off, it loses all power.last time i was approaching a red light and slowing down, the lights changed to green,i turned on my blinker to turn left going less than 10 miles an hour and it happened in the middle of the turnwith acar behind me my jeep stopped in the middle of the street dead for 5-10 seconds. I thought i would be rear ended since it was abrupt.
My car "service engine" light came on as well as a message on the dashboard with the words "safety assist" and "security".i immediately brought the car to the dealer.after 2 days in the shop, they said it was (as posted on the paperwork released to me) "cylinder 3 misfire and cold start rough start.found cylinder 3 plug fouled out poss from moving vehicle all winter without ever driving vehicle.replaced #3 spark plug, swapped coil #3 with coil #2 to see if misfire moves to cylinder #2.this way if condition is not resolved, i will know if coil is bad or engine has a mechanical problem. Rfh flashed and abs flashed"they released the car to me and said it was fixed and safe.upon driving to work at 5 am, in the dark, i had no exterior lights and could only use my high beams if i held them on.i had no back lights.cars approached very close to my car and i had no idea why.when i got to work, i had another worker check the back of my car and there were no back lights or brake lights.i called the dealer and left a message and dropped the car off after work.after further review, they have now told me the engine needs to be replaced....on a 2016 car.ridiculous.thank you
This happened 2 times today. The first occurrence happened when turning left at an intersection to merge onto a highway. At 15 mph during the (obtuse) left turn i switched the vehicle to 2nd gear and the traction control light blinked a few times while cutting power to my engine. The vehicle behind me saw this and thankfully didn't hit me. The 2nd time happened as i was taking a left into a shopping center. While stationary istarted releasing the clutch while applying gas in 1st gear. The traction control light blinked a few times and cut power again while in the middle of traffic, but this time there were vehicles coming towards me. Luckily the vehicle restored power in time for me not to get t-boned. This is a good vehicle but the traction control is seriously flawed.
2016 jeep renegade traction control - while making a left hand turn the vehicle's traction control light began blinking on and off and there was loss of power/acceleration. Once the light went off the vehicle began to move again. This has happened 3 or 4 times, while turning or driving on a slight hill. The loss of power is a major safety issue as when turning, you are crossing traffic. The driving conditions were dry, smooth road.
Was in motion on city street and power steering / traction control randomly cut out causing the vehicle to loose control. This has happened several times. The power will cut the engine sometimes and other times the car just drifts and i cannot control it. I have almost seriously wrecked because of it twice. *dt
On several occasions, my renegade has lost power/acceleration on both left and right turns under normal driving condition and low speeds. This is concerning as i can easily be rear ended on the turn or involved in a side impact crash when turning across traffic. This is on dry, clean pavement. Going in to the dealer tomorrow but because i discovered this is a known issue i thought it best to report here.
Loss of acceleration/power when turning right or left on dry surfaces. Traction control module comes on when this happens.instrument panel flashes that the back brake lights are out and the right/left hand turn signals not working. Happens when starting vehicle and stays on until you shut off car a few times.
Traction control engaging too aggressively . Tc seems to come one when not needed during turns and the engine loses power.
The traction control on this vehicle will engage at random when turns are made.when this happens, the vehicle will lose power and it's momentum will cease.i believe this behavior caused an accident i was in which resulted in the total loss of the vehicle. I was making a dog leg turn merging into traffic, with the lost of momentum i was hit on the right rear. The traction control engaged the day before as well. This issues is reported by other individuals on various web boards. It was fortunate that there was no serious injury.*dt*dt*dtconsumer stated vehicle was totaled.*dt*dt*dt
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. When the contact started the vehicle after filling up the fuel tank, the check engine and electronic stability control warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt; however, the failure recurred. In addition, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and the emergency brake would not release. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The dealer recommended to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles and to check the dip stick every time the vehicle was filled with fuel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,870.
Twice now with less that 950 miles on my vehicle the vehicle the traction control has engaged on clean dry pavement, stopped at a stop signed and turned right each time and at about 5 mph the traction control engaged and engaged what seemed like a engine brake to decelerate the engine. This is a safety hazard and many people are reporting the issue on social media sites and forums for this vehicle.
On several occassions now, my jeep renegade has suddenly lost power /acceleration after making routine turns into traffic.the last incident was particularly scary,as i lost power while crossing traffic at an intersection and was almost t-boned by a truck in dc. I have mads an appointment with service at the dealership where purchased. After, researching,i see this has happened to other renegade owners. This is dangerous beyond belief!!!
I was at a restaurant eating breakfast, after i was done i came out to crank my car and it would turn over but would not start up. The dashboard was stating that i needed esc service, then it said i need airbag service, steering service. I could not turn my steering wheel and my brakes would not push on to start my car. Then the throttle light came on. I had to get it towed.
Random times on dry roads both city and ruralwhile slowing to make turns or starting from still to make turns or slowing the trying to resume speed the esp/traction control engages. Shuts down power to car and can not accelerate for a short period of time. With high speed vehicles approaching from out of view from the side or rear this has nearly caused several collisions for me.
After making a left turn on a dry paved road the traction control light rapidly flashed and power was lost for 5-10 seconds. Dangerous issue.took to service shop they can not replicate
Jeep safety concern 2016 jeep renegade trail hawk 4wdmileage: 35.000 our vehicle displayed check engine code (p0440). Took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced a front vacuum valve. Three days later the check engine light was back on. Brought the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer stated a pressure switch in the gas tank was the problem but the part had to be ordered. While this check engine light was on i discovered that when the electronic computer module (ecm) sees an emission code the ecm will disable the vehicles 4wd and the remote start. The remote start is not a safety concern but the 4wd is.there was a snow storm that hit the eastern seaboard and effected our area. Since my wife uses this vehicle, for several days my wife was without a vehicle during this storm. Thankfully i discovered the issue before the storm hit. This may have been devastating if this code was set while she was driving in the snow with my 3-year-old granddaughter in the vehicle. This vehicle is advertised as 4wd' trail rated' off road vehicle.i never have had any 4wd issue with any of these vehicles.if you're driving your vehicle inclement in weather such as snow and the ecm sees an emission issue, you lose your 4wd. Losing your 4wd on a snow-covered road can become a real safety issue.if your off road on a slippery trail and you lose your 4wd you may slide into a large tree or worse, slide off the trail. Chrysler jeep never tells the customer this can occur but they advertise the vehicle as a 'trail rated' off road vehicle. People that purchase jeeps are under the impression that 'trail rated' stamp means this vehicle is certified for use during inclement weather or for recreational use. The last thing a customer wants to find out is that the vehicle they purchased will lose the 4wd if there is a ecm code set.lou from ny
Multiple times when taking off from a stop, under completely dry conditions with clean pavement, the vehicle traction control system has kicked in.the only way to get it to turn off has been to come to a complete stop again, which is very dangerous when pulling out onto a 55mph highway.
My traction control light will start blinking and cut my acceleration, while turning left sporadically whether at a complete stop or still moving and normally just on dry asphalt. I have had the vehicle into the dealership 3 times. The first time was for 2 days, and they said there was an update, this didn't fix the issue. The next time was 1 week later for 5 days where they drove my vehicle and advised they could only produce this incident once, and said the problem was with the abs software having the wrong download.the dealership also advised that the vehicle did not know there was a problem because there was no error code in the computer. The 3rd time was 2 days after i picked up, and the vehicle was keptfor 7 days, where they drove my car all week and were not able to replicate. After having the vehicle back for 4 days it started up again, and now does it almost every day. The dealership advised there is nothing they can do, and jeep/chrysler were not helpful either. I have noticed now when i have another person in the front seat that the traction control will start blinking and cut the acceleration going right. I have also noticed that you have to be around 20 mph or higher around a curve for this to happen when you are not at a complete stop.
On tuesday 9/6 my renegade was making a clicking noise and started smoking and smelled like it was overheating.no indicator lights came on. We checked the oil and it smelled burnt and did not register on the dipstick. I called the dealer and was told it was because the oil change was 1000 miles overdue. We put a quart of oil in and the noise stopped. We took it to the dealership for an oil change and were told there were no other problems. One week later on 9/13 it made the same noise and again started smoking and smelled like it was overheating. Again no indicated lights came on. I let it cool a few minutes then drove to my destination 2-3 mines further. At that time the check engine light came on. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership where they said it was a fan motor. The part is on backorder until sometime in november. My vehicle has less than 39000 miles and is 1 1/2 years old.
Update to complaint # 11270456 reported on 10/23/19.i called jeep directly to report the issue and they instructed me not to pick the car.they called dealership directly.they are aware of an "oil consumption issue" with 2016 renegades which is related to the car stalling/going into neutral and the gear shifting issue.since they did an oil change on 10/22/19, they want me to put 1,000 miles on the car & bring it back for an oil consumption test.depending on the results of that test, they may have to replace the engine.
At about 50,000 miles the engine fan has gone bad causing the car to overheat. The car is only 3 years old and i should not have to pay 600-800$ in repairs for a new vehicle there are so many complaints about the exact same thing something should be investigated and done about this.
The car stalls frequently with no warning at speed and also when executing a stop. It uses a huge amount of oil, 5 qts between changes. I took it to the dealer and they told me that this car stalls if the oil level is low. This means they recognize an issue and have done nothing about it. How would i know this, and how low does the oil have to be to stall?this is not normal and if it is 'normal' why have they not told all renegade owners? i will never feel safe in this car because if it stalls on the freeway at 60 mph i will most certainly have a crash.
I took vehicle to dealership on 5/2/19 after the cooling fan made a loud squealing noise when it was idling with a/c on. Dealership stated that they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle & sent me on my way. On 6/22/19 while returning from my lunch break ( jeep had been idling with a/c on in a drive through & fan began making a rattling noise - fan turning on/off in cycles)smoke started pouring from under hood, accompanied by a strong smell of something burning. I turned the vehicle off immediately & when i restarted it the service engine light came on.i had the jeep towed from my place of employment to the dealership ( i'm a nurse, and missed a day of work due to this! ). Picking my jeep up from dealership today to the tune of $484.52 to replace cooling fan. I see that this is an ongoing issue, and that a class action lawsuit was filed on 2/11/19 due to numerous consumer complaints. I'm thankful that this happened at 7pm rather than at midnight while driving home on the highway...... At the end of the day my vehicle could have caught on fire. Apparently defective cooling fan is something jeep has known about for years & i can't believe there hasn't been a recall.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While parked and/or driving at any speed, the contact heard a ding sound and the check engine indicator illuminated. A giant "p" appeared on the instrument panel, a vehicle icon appeared, and "ets, air coolant temperature, service hill start assist" appeared. The contact stated that the engine shut off. The vehicle restarted, but the failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
Been happening for past month first issue happened in jan 2017 call stalling having hard time restarting.backing out of the drive way car stalls once done reversing and putting into drive.have done it with rolling stop at stop sign/light.
This vehicle had a check engine light come on while driving in a neighborhood at low speeds and the etc light come on, when this happened the vehicle immediately became sluggish and switched to manual mode for gears. This is very unsafe if driving at highway speeds because the vehicle slows down on you with no warning. Also the airbag lights have come on and the thermostat housing needs replacing so they ask you to watch your thermostat to make sure it doesn't overheat since the part is on backorder for months. Check engine light constantly coming on for computer updates definitely not safe.
Started running hot out of the blue. Checked fuses and the main fuse to the fan was blown. Replaced the fuse but the fan still is not turning on. Vehicle is still running hot and producing smoke/steam along with a burning smell. The symptoms started while waiting in stopped traffic but seemed to clear up while moving, then got worse while sitting idle with ac unit on. I have been reading up on if there are issues related to mine and there seem to be a lot of issues with the cooling fan. Why is this not a recall??
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the cooling fans were not working and the fuses would blow out, causing the engine to overheat. The contact had to pull the vehicle over and allow it to cool down. The dealer (c & c dodge chrysler jeep, 1305 pike st, building a, marietta, oh 45750, (740) 373-2928) replaced the fan and the fuse assembly. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 38,000. The vin was unknown.*as
Cooling fan went out at 42,700 miles. Fan would make noise and rattle anytime the vehicle was at a stop, accelerating or when shutting the vehicle off, fan would shake the entire vehicle. Entire cooling fan assembly had to be replaced. Vehicle is now at 52,884 miles and the fan is making noise again.
I was driving my 2016 jeep renegade latitude (2.4 liter) when the vehicle stalled on me. Before it stalled i was stopped in what is referred to as a michigan left. Once traffic was clear i started my turn and as i started to straighten out my wheel, a vehicle in front of me was turning right into a business. I applied my brakes and then started to push the accelerator when i noticed no response. I pushed a little more and realized the engine had shut off. I applied the brake and shifted the vehicle back to park and restarted the engine. There was a gas station near so i headed there. As i was turning right into the gas station (slight inclined driveway) i noticed a quick flash about oil. I parked at a pump and popped the hood to check the oil. To my surprise i was getting very little to nothing on the dip stick. I checked multiple times and it was the same reading. I just had an oil change on july 18, 2019. I hadn't even hit the next service date (5,000-6,000 miles) and there had been no leaks they i had seen under my vehicle or any abnormal exhaust smoke (oil burning) in any of the time driving the vehicle. My vehicle doesn't even have 48,000 miles on it. I have only owned the vehicle since the end of june. This struck me as odd as i have never had any vehicle consume this much oil with out some type of noticeable leak or burning of the oil. There was no warning light prior to this event about oil despite there being little to no reading of oil on the dipstick.
Radiator cooling fan failure (seized).parts on backorder lead-time 2 months.this happened while driving on city streets.had a burning smell with smoke coming from the front of the vehicle.stopped to check the motor, discovered the radiator cooling fan was not running.pushed the fan blade, it was seized.the water temp got up to 250+, high temperature light came on, stopped and let it cool down enough to get it to the dealership.cooled to 130, drove approx. 5 miles to the dealership and left it at the night drop (sunday 9/17/2017).
I love my renegade but there has been nothing but problems , first after only having it for a few months buying it dec 2016 new the fuel pump broke and i ran out of gas when it said i had a quarter tank. Then the driver seat became stuck forward,i thought i fixed it it was fine now it's stuck back. I have to use a pillow behind me. Then at 40,000 miles just about the coolant fan started rattling as if something was loose, then it stopped all together. When i was in traffic i had to blast the heat because the temp gauge would go red. I checked the fuse it was blown so it was changed and still no fan. So i figured it's the coolant fan relay and they aren't easy to locate. Auto parts store and jeep parts at the dealership are hard to talk to because it is a fiat part. You would think the 2jeep dealerships that sell them would know that. Now i see that a ton of people are having the same issue and needed the full fan assemble replaced and a new thermostat..i do not have money for this. Why no recall
Cooling fan quit working. 50 amp fuse blows. Vehicle was being driven on highway. Had to keep heat on to keep coolent temperature down.
Electric fan assembly for the cooling system failed. Burned up the electric fan, smoke pouring out of the engine bay. Vehicle was in motion on a city street.
Jeep only has 40,000 miles on it and one day driving home on the interstate, the car killed while driving without warning and almost caused me to crash. The car behind me had to swerve to avoid rear ending me as well. Had it sent to a mechanic and he said that the fuel pump failed. Car is only at 40,000 miles and is only 3 years old. Cost to repair it is $800. I looked up cases and apparently this is a known issue with jeep renegade fuel pumps and other years 2017 and up have been recalled but why hasn't mine? almost causing a crash and the cost of the repair is the 1st issue, the biggest stressor is the fact that the part is on back order and chrysler won't ship my mechanic the part for 3 weeks. Yes 3 weeks without a vehicle, lost wages, and missed classes because i have a hard time getting to class for nursing school. I had a rental car that i was paying $27 dollars a day but after 1.5 weeks, i can't afford that plus the $800+ repair so i returned it. My mechanic also noticed the canister of the evap system is also bad which is another thing that shouldn't be going bad this soon. Now my total is $1075. Plus the $300 of the rental i had to get while chrysler was taking their time getting the part i needed. Yesterday i had to call corporate to beg them to get this part moving faster. The fact that the part is back ordered, means a lot of other people are having this same issue. It's time to recall this part before it kills someone. I was lucky and was able to correct the car when it was trying to suddenly jerk off the road with speeds of 70 mph. But not everyone might not be lucky and it's a dangerous situation waiting to happen.
Brand new vehicle that has a transmission that will not shift between first and second gear without bucking and jerking and when cold poses a hazard when pulling into traffic.i have complained to the dealer they say all do this.it has a zf 9 speed transmission that everyone knows should be recalled
I was driving my car, and when i get home and open the door without turning off the engine i notice a really hard noise. I decide to turn off the engine, and i notice that the noise came from the fan because it was still running until it stop. So, i decided to open the hood and turn on again the engine, when i took a look i notice that the fan was wobbling so much and it was hitting some other parts, immediately i knew that something was wrong with that part so i did a research about the car and found that some other persons had the same problem. Later, i decided to take the car to the dealer because the car only have one year and it is still under warranty. The dealer checked my car and says to me that they had a couple of the same cars a few weeks ago with the same problem, they says that i need to wait three weeks for the replacement, and that it would be dangerous if i drive the car in that condition because i could have an accident. So, i call chrysler customer service (800-992-1997), and i tried to have a better solution to problem, because i need to go to my work, and says that i could do a rental out of pocket and submit the claim with a "possiblereimburse.
Jeep renegade with only 40k miles (4k out of warranty) and engine coolant thermostat just stopped working. Entire housing has to be replaced just to fix the one problem. The problem was made known via service light coming on with "service engine" message appearing on dash. The error code was deciphered as "p0128: coolant thermostat (coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature). It first appeared while driving on city streets at 40mph, and now appears at all times. This should not happen on a 3.5 year old vehicle.
This vehicles electric cooling fan has worn out with less then 45,000 miles. After calling around to different dealerships and parts departments. Information obtained is there are more then 2500 back orders for this part. We will have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before we could see this part being delivered to make repairs. Seems to me that if you have this many back orders then maybe there is an issue with the part.
My 2016 jeep renegade radiator fan assembly is shot. Stopped working when i was idling on my way home.it is almost $1000 to fix and i can not safely drive my vehicle. It is only two years old. It has 45k miles. Online there is a ton of people complaining about this same issue, particularly in the 2016 jeeps. I want to urge you to investigate this car and company to do the right thing and cover the cost of the repairs.
While idling at a stop light, the cooling fan could be heard making a weird noise, followed by a strong odor. This happened one time earlier while idling and the air conditioning was on. The strong odor made me take it to a shop near me for fear of driving it. Luckily it was colder than usual or it would have overheated. Upon looking into the issue and having my cooling fan replaced, i found it was a common issue in the 2016 models, and has been fixed for (or part of) the 2017 models. I checked with the dealership and they confirmed no official recalls were sent, and i don't understand why. Luckily, i got this replaced before something bad happened, but i've spoken with numerous other renegade owners who had the vehicles break down and had to be towed to shops for repairs. I did have an extended warranty, but because i took it to shop near me (for fear of driving it) instead of the dealership, they only covered part of the repair which was about $200 out of my $550 bill. I don't understand why these are being left out on the road when it is a known issue. The dealer who provided the part even had multiple fans in stock, indicating this is a common problem.
While driving at 36120 miles i noticed a burning smell inside my passenger cabin.shortly thereafter i noticed the engine temperature gauge went to its hottest reading and my check engine light came on.after pulling over and turning the vehicle off i opened the hood to the engine compartment and noticed that although the engine appeared to be extraordinarily hot, the electric fan was not operating.i then went into my house and did some online research and discovered that it quite possibly was a defective electric engine fan that was prone to failing due to no proper heat shield.this had been noted by many owners of the same vehicle.i made arrangements to have the vehicle brought to my jeep dealer who then confirm that this was indeed the case.
While driving, warning light came up "shift vehicle to park" and car essentially goes into neutral.once pulled over, car couldn't be restarted for a few minutes and wouldn't shift out of park.when it finally did shift, the "shift vehicle to park" warning came up again.luckily, this happened on a local road and not a 70mph highway.happened 2 more times when car was started and attempted to shift to d and/or r and car wouldn't shift.
Thermostat failure code p0128 appeared and thermostat needed to be replaced. As this vehicle had recall on the cooling fan assembly, this failure is directly related tothe malfunction of the fan unit.
The radiator fan makes rattling sounds while ac is in operation or vehicle idles.
My 2016 jeep renegade fan assembly continues to lock up and make loud noises i had to get it replaced once this will be my second time replacing the fan.i noticed on the jeep forum that this is a well known issue that lots of jeep renegade drivers are having its very dangerous because it happens out of the blue and sometimes i take road trips ive only had the jeep a year .
But i do know i will never buy another chrysler product again in my life
Car had 25000 miles. Got stuck in traffic and started over heating. Fan was rattling and found to be bad. We have replaced the fan 3 times since then at $400 a pop. This needs to be a recall or a fix implemented soon. Can't afford monthly payments x2 due to replacing fan every month.
The cooling fan failed and blew the fuse.the loss of cooling also caused the engine to overheat while on the freeway.
My vehicle has been burning oil at an abnormal rate. I have to top it off several times between oil changes. It also runs extremely rough when in drive/reverse, but not moving(stop signs, drive throughs). If i put it into park or neutral, it runs fine. Occasionally, it will stall out when coming to a stop. I've had it at the dealership and they couldn't find an issue. They updated the ecu and tcu, but it didn't resolve it. My vehicle is no longer covered by warranty now.
While driving the car loses power and the message "shift to park"appears then the car stalls. The car was traveling less than 25mph.the car may or may not start afterwards. The battery was replaced but the same problem occurs. This has occurred multiple times and has stranded me. It doesn't matter the outside weather conditions.
Just like sooo many people online out radiator cooling fan started wobbling and now grinding. There are so many forums, sites and videos that show this is happening to a lot of people. A recall is not yet in effect but it needs to be asap. Cost is 400-1000 for each repair. And don't let them try to say it's an issue of dirt. It's usually around 36,000 miles so don't wait to fix it as the warrenty will expire.
Radiator cooling fan malfunctioned
Cooling fan failed at 59,000 miles causing the car to overheat when running ac or at idle, slow moving speeds.
Stalled during stop and go traffic on the highway three times in 30 minutes. Dry roads, sunny 90 degrees f, going straight. Ac on full blast. No indication of any problems. Only 41000 miles. New vehicle for me. I know the 2017 was recalled (u18), and this looks just like it, but on the 2016.
Radiator fan
At 55000 miles the cooling fan quit out of nowhere. It was fine the day before and then when it was cranked the next morning the fan was ticking and then about 15 minutes later stopped running.
The engine idles too fast. 11/1/17 and 12/7/17 the tcm and pcm were reprogramed. No help.2/13/18 dealer said " the idle speed can't be reset"1/15/19 after lemon law the manufacturer agreed" we will replace your car"," 4/16/20 " we will not replace your car, but we will honor your warranty" 5/30/20 "your warranty has expired, choose another plan" the dealer has worked on my car 13 times over a three year period, i nearly crashed in april 2018, because the fast idle overpowered my brakes. I believe i am entitled to a new car just like mine, paid in full in 2017. I don't know how to include pictures
The engine burns through oil way to fast and creates unnecessary cost. Also it always feels like it's going to shut down when i turn right slowly. Power constantly fluctuates.
On two occassions while the vehicle was in drive operating on a two lane highway and remained in the drive position with the vehicle in motion the transmission indicator on the display shifted to neutral and the rpms revved without the accelerator pressed and the engine cut off.no codes or check engine lights indicated.the shifter remained in the drive position.the car had to be guided off the roadway and placed into park to be restarted.vehicle was slow to restart both times.both incidents occurred after entering a highway into the flow of traffic and accelerating and presented a danger to all drivers.
July 2018 first time it happened: i was in traffic flowing along on the highway at 70mph and it slowed to a crawl...stop and go at 5-10mph for about 15 minutes. Road dry, sunny, about 92 degrees f. I had the ac on and the radio full blast. I was pulling forward to crawl along and it stalled. Came to a complete stop. The message center says it's not running and hit the brake and the ignition button so i did, and it started and i moved out. Happened again about 5 min. Later. This time it didn't just start and i had to put it in park for a moment before it would start. Lucky for me we were going slow enough that people worked around me. The third time i was moving along faster at about 20mph as the congestion was freeing up...it stalled again. It was scary, nothing works and i had to glide over to the emergency lane. Dangerous. Scary. I know the 2017 jeep had a recall for stalling due to a bfp. Does my 2016 have this issue also? i am no longer under warranty and i can't afford to have it checked out. I called chrysler and reported it.today it happened for a second time aug. 2019 vehicle had been accelerating and decelerating constantly around 10-20 mph for about 30 miles as elevation was gained, very hot temps in 90's.ac on.all loss of power, no warning lights, vehicle shuts off. Upon restart car is parked for about hour. Next accelerating and decelerating, 30-60 mph, while losing elevation, whenever the gas was depressed it hesitated and began to stall. Had to keep the ac off, whenever it was on it hesitated more. Finally at highway speeds 60-65 mph if you let off gas and then began to accelerate it would hesitate again and again. When vehicle was at a complete stop it would also hesitate in idle drive. It almost stalled dozens and dozens of times.
Radiator fan is loose and is making loud noises. Done research and have seen this is a very common problem with 2016 jeep renegade. It has now caused the check engine light to come on.
Cooling fan began making rattling noise, blew fuse, resulting in check engine light. Vehicle's mileage is 47396. Entire cooling fan assembly had to be replaced. Total cost $878.86. Jeep denies responsibility for faulty fan.multiple complaints concerning this issue without any recalls to correct this faulty part.
My jeep renegade began over heating due to the radiator fan failure. My vehicle isnunder warranty at 20,276 miles . The parts are backordered for months and am not being offered a loaner or getting true responses from jeep only generic we are sorry for your struggles of being a family of 5 with different work schedules . Cheerand band etc. There must be a recall to save other owners with this issue and ones that will arise
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 15 mph, the engine seized. The vehicle was taken to franklin sussex auto mall (315 nj-23, sussex, nj 07461, 973-875-3188) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000. The vin was not available.
Driving in city, helping with tornado relief. Engine temperature indicator went from middle to max hot. Instantaneously, no warning or check engine light. Took to get fixed. Coolant thermostat, fan and large fuse where shot. Day after getting it back. Indicator shot up again while on interstate on way to to help with tornado relieve still. Took to get fixed, a hose blew out draining all coolant instantly, again. Got fixed. Next day driving country road to work, car died throwing tons of white smoke. Aaa looking at it, think it's head gasket leaking coolant into engine. I've been diligent in all my maintenance, as this is my first new car. No warning or check engine lights etc. Had other issues from the start, but used to dealing due to used cars. Got a new car thinking keep up on maintenance, shouldn't have problems i'm 53 and will go back to used cars and will never but a jeep again. At least i'll have the money to get fixed when they break down, because i don't have a monthly payment.
Jeep has a backorder on their cooling fans. We haven't been able to drive our jeep renegade for 3 months because there is a backorder of 1400 cooling fans just in my area. Someone needs to check into this problem. There is obviously something wrong. Fan makes a loud noise while running. Afraid to drive it, fear of something catching on fire.
The engine fan has decided to stop working at only 44k miles!? there are hundreds of others who have had this happen to their renegade at even fewer miles than this. I had to stop on the side of the road because my 3 year old car was overheating due to a bad or pos engine fan? what if i were in the middle of nowhere and with kids in the car? the dealership says they won't cover it because they haven't had any reports of it yet........check the forums online!!
My electric radiator fan is wobbling at only 32,000 miles on the car and it's make a hitting noise from it.
On several occasions while driving there is a sudden loss of power. Particularly problematic when turning and trying to accelerate. Nothing happens, no throttle response. Vehicle also suddenly died today for no reason at a stop light (vehicle stopped). It was difficult to get it to restart, but eventually did restart.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 30 mph, the contact noticed that the air conditioner blew hot air. The contact's son attempted to loosen something in the radiator and the engine overheated, the coolant bubbled up, and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact scheduled an appointment with an independent mechanic on june 17, 2019. The vehicle was diagnosed repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000. Consumer stated while driving for about 1 hour with the air on, i stopped, happened to look at the gauges and noticed the red bar showing my car was over heated. I turned car off, lifted the hood, let car sit for a while, then son loosened the reservoir cap water in reservoir was boiling. I let car sit for awhile, could drive it but had to leave air off. I have it fixed.
I was driving roughly 15 miles per hour when my car made a ratteling noise. I stopped and could not see anything physically wrong with the engine.with in 5-10 minutes i could smell burning coming from my engine. My engine began smoking. My coolant level had dropped.i was luckily able to refill the coolant and make it back to town.the next morning my coolant had dropped again. I refilled it then smoke came from the engine again with a check engine light a 1/2 block away from my starting location. The coolant fan system needs to be replaced.the vehicle only has 36,000 miles on it.after much research i have learned this is a well know issue with this type of vehicle. So well known the parts have been on back order but the manufacturer has not recalled the vehicle. How quickly the engine smokes and faulters is a safety hazzard.the vehicle quickly stops working due to this issue potentially stranding passengers on highways or in areas unaccessible by help because it is an offroad vehicle.
After starting it just shuts down while car is in motion. Can happen anywhere. Engine just shuts off...then takes a couple of attempts to restart
Radiator cooling fan make noise and stop working during slow speed city driving. Engine overheated. Only 6,000 miles on the odometer. Took the car for warranty repair. It's being sitting at the dealer's service area for 42 days with no expected repair date. As per dealer's service manager, the replacement part is out of stock with no eta from manufacturer.
Takata recall jeep needing oil change at 7600 miles, bone dry with no indication, no smoke, no notice, engine stalls through an intersection. Won't restart for 30 seconds. Fan bearing failed. Repaired with oem part, failing again. Electrical issues, headlights shut off on dark highway, indicating all exterior lighting has failed, electrical restored. Multiple smaller events of blinker right or left being out, indicators included rapid flashing of dashboard indicator. Bulbs always self restored and fault cleared.evap failure indicated, self resolved while trouble shooting.
Brand new vehicle at under 5000 miles - while making a u-turn, the vehicle's traction control engaged and there was a complete loss of acceleration and power. The traction control light went off on its own about 4-5 seconds after the u-turn and acceleration power returned. The vehicle was in motion the whole time on a well-paved city street and road conditions were flat with no roadway debris and no adverse weather conditions.
Fan rattles vehicle overheats ac not working notice all this when came to a stop and was idling.
Vehicle was at very low speed in a parking lot, wheels slightly turned and the engine abruptly stalled and died.i was able to re-start it immediately after shifting from drive into neutral.
My car was making a noise when i would accelerate like friction. Noticed a smell coming from ac vents. Took my vehicle into certified jeep dealership. I was told about recall on engine cooling fan on my year and make of vehicle but my vin wasnt listed even though it was the same exact issue. 700$ for fan replacement when mopar clearly acknowledges issue.
Notice a change oil light started popping up although i did not need to change oil according to records i was not due to change oil until another three months, i only been driving the vehicle around 4900 since i purchased it in july 2020, their last service was done at the dealer on july 6 2020 which included oil change. Its on the service history record.i also started noticing a burning smell when i got out my vehicle so i decided to check my oil level and to my surprise i was 2 quarts low at only 58213 miles this should not be happening. I called and scheduled to get it looked at. According to the dealer, they are aware of this issue, so why not a courtesy call to the consumer? i just don't understand that. I can understand if the vehicle issued a warning light that stays on and won't go away then i would of done something about it, but it was just a change oil light and went away so i thought it was just reminding me and being that i was getting close to 58,000 and again only been driving it over 4,000 miles since last oil service.my fear is the dealer may try and hold me liable and have to pay for service for the issue because i did not take the vehicle in right away when i saw the oil service light first appear.
Faulty thermostat causing heating/ cooling problems. Check engine light came on at 16000 miles. A engine diagnostic revealed a faulty thermostat at 16000 miles which is premature.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times before it was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a fuel station where the contact was informed that the engine needed oil. The contact was able to add oil to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to barbera autoland (7810 e roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, pa 19152, (215) 333-3700) where it was diagnosed that the engine block was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. The vin was unknown.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle shook violently and the engine vibrated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to antwerpen chrysler jeep (6440 baltimore national pike, baltimore, md 21228, (410) 788-2973), but it was not diagnosed or repaired due to the diagnostic and repair fees. The contact lifted the hood and the technician stated that the motor mount failed and needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that there was a delay in stopping the vehicle when depressing the brake pedal along with a squeaking noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
I bought this car a year a ago. It is still under warrenty. The radiator is messed up and car is over heated. It shows check engine light. But dealership is saying it could take them months . Why do not they recall all the cars??
Radiator fan motor burned out.cause the engine to over heat, created smoke condition and failure of all systems.car needed to be towed to dealer.parts are back ordered.internet comments indicate this has become a common problem with this vehicle
For the past week my engine stalls in the morning randomly while driving, when i'm about to turn and the dash tells me to shift into park. When re-starting the engine struggles and then comes on. It just happened when leaving work too. Started driving out the parking lot and the car stalled. I see there is a recall for 2017-2018 jeeps for this same problem and multiple complaints for the 2016. Luckily i've been on streets and off the highway and going slow enough that when it stalls i can throw on my four way flashers. But i'm scared it will stall while in heavy traffic or going fast.
When you first start driving the car after about 1 min the engine will lose power and shut off causing you to have to pull to the side of the road. It then takes several times to restart it beforeyou can go.
I have had this car for not even three years and i am already having to replace the thermostat. There is less then 48,000 miles on it, i would not recommend this car at all to anyone. They need to start fixing these issues because i see i am not the only one to experience this problem.
The traction control light will come on and the engine will lose power while the vehicle is making a turn at lower speeds, such as at 25 to 35 miles per hour. It has happened while pulling out into traffic multiple times. This happens pretty much on a daily basis when driving to and from work. I have also spoken with many other people that have this same issue.
Cooling fan failed 41000 miles. Fan keeps blowing fuses and will not spin by hand. Vehicle will over heat if in stop and go traffic.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving various speeds, the vehicle overheated and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to allow it to cool down. The vehicle was taken to bluebonnet jeep (283 n interstate 35 frontage rd, new braunfels, tx 78130, (866) 783-0824) where they repaired the coolant fan. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.
Cooling fan started rattling very loud. It seems to be loose. Vehicle has 40114 miles. Research on internet confirms that this is a very common problem and jeep redesigned their cooling fan for replacements and newer vehicle. This should be a recall sinc it is a known problem!!!
The 'service engine' light came on and the vehicle overheated 400 miles from home.the servicing jeep dealer (vision jeep in rochester, ny) stated the engine cooling fan failed, in the same manner as noted in recall campaign v54 for the cooling fan in 2015-2017 jeep renegades.my car is a 2016 renegade, and the service manager was surprised my vin was not included in the recall.he stated it failed in the same way as other recall repairs they did for the same model car, and was the same part that failed.i firmly believe it was a mistake that my vin wasn't included, despite the model and year of my car being in the range of the cars for recall v54.
When idle (stop sign, traffic light) and applied gas to accelerate, a reading comes up on the dashboard of "vehicle must be in park to shift" and the messages disappears quickly. The car stops, i have to reset to park, turn off the car, start it again. This happens in the worst of times, in traffic, randomly, and without warning. This has happened 3 times since november 2018.
Cooling fan shakes rattles isn't working properly car gives off an antifreeze smell or electrical smell when fan malfunctions.
I live in sw houston and work a 20/10 schedule in midland, texas. My 2016 jeep decided to overheat because of a faulty fan control module 550 miles away from home in an heb parking lot. The check engine light came on not 2 minutes earlier, followed by the coolant temperature warning light. There was no time for me to even find a mechanic as from beginning to end all occurred in less than 2 minutes in stop-and-go traffic. Coolant came bubbling up the reservoir and convinced me i had a leak. See photos. After the tow, i was stranded because the dealer couldn't provide a loaner so i had to fly back to houston, leaving my renegade at all american dodge chrysler jeep of midland. I was told there is a nationwide back-order of 7000 units, as of september 6th. Turn around time is approx 6 weeks. I have been on the phone with jeep customer service and they said my car is scheduled to be fixed in november. For reference, today is the 14th day of september. If i had a m-f job, i would've been fired by now. They are so slow to respond! also, they are only able to reimburse me up to $35 a day for a rental. The options are very limited and i need a 4x4 for work. Not to mention, i have to pay using my own card and submit a receipt to get reimbursed, a process i'm told could take between 30 to 60 days. Did i mention that my car had only 32,000 miles on and is under warranty until 36,000 or may 2018?
Fan is making terrible noises.will stop working and is over 650 to replace.there are thousands of customers reporting the exact same problem!
Having to put oil in a month after an oil change. Renegade is driven 40 highway miles a day 5 times a week. Also the coolant light shoots up to hot suddenly then back down while idling in park.
Unknown i was recently sold a vehicle that i feel should be under the "safe car" issues. The engine cooling fan. If an engine cooling fan is not working right, this can cause the engine to overheat and the potential exists for a vehicle fire. How is that not a safety issue?two manufacturer recalls on the jeep renegade 2016:#v54 2015-2017 vm bu fb engine cooling fan#w20 2013-2019 mutli vehicle 2.4 reprogram pcm ph1i bought a car not realizing the signficance of these recalls which were not explained to me at the time of purchase. Neither recall repairs were done by the previous owner. I feel the engine cooling fan is a serious safety issue yet it is not listed on your website. This means other unsuspecting buyers can purchase cars without salespeople being required to disclose detailed recall information. Nor whether or not this recall was taken care of by the previous owner.in my case, it was not.
As i was driving my jeep made a noise and started to overheat. I had it towed to the dealership and they informed me that it would be $600 to replace. I researched this and there are hundreds of affected jeep owners. There is no recall but my car could have caught fire. It's outside of the basic warranty as well. This needs investigated asap!
The vehicle will drive fine then it powers down and stalls while moving. The restart procedure is to place the vehicle in park, press the brake the push the engine run button. This happens several times a day during normal operation of the vehicle and has happened in intersections. The manufacturer told me the engine is defective due to the casting process which causes it to lose oil that leaks into the engine somewhere and causes the engine to shutdown even while moving. They are replacing the engine but as this is a manufacturing issue i can't believe my vehicle is the only one with this issue. The vehicle is currently at the dealership. This issue occurred multiple times and without any warning whatsoever.
Bought jeep brand new and now has 17,000 miles on it. Have had injectors replaces. It has been to the shop several time for pcv valve freezing and causing cylinders to misfire. It has been burning oil and occasionally will just shut. In the last month it has been to the dealership 3 time and usually at least 2 days a pop. One of those times had it towed in at my expense. Very displeased with engine. Dealer told me they had no fix for the problem. So this is something i will have to deal with every winter. Not even safe to drive. Very disappointed. At one point shut off turning into my driveway where i was almost hit by a semi truck
While driving in city, engine temp went to overheat. Loud noise and smoke from engine. After inspection engine fan wobbling on mount and motor smoking. Car is 14 months old with 15000 miles
The bearing on the fan is going out. I have 42,000 miles and of course it is not under warranty. I have read more than 100 complaints about the same problem. Why is this not a recall? this is the 3rd chrysler i've purchased brand new and never had this issue with the other 2. If more than half of the vehicles are having the same problem then it is time for a recall on the part. I don't have $500-$600 to fix this. So i have a vehicle that i still owe on that will sit for months. Thank you chrysler.
I have had a problem with my car for a while now. It makes a sound, which friends and family have said sounds like a broken fan, when i am stopped or idling. It is a clicking and whirring sound that i can hear from outside and inside of the car. I have seen videos which describe an issue with the 2015/2016 jeep renegade engine cooling fan, which sounds exactly like what i am dealing with. I have also heard there have been recalls of this vehicle. I am not sure this is the exact issue, but i am afraid it might develop into the smoking and overheating that other owners of this car have experienced.
Driving my vehicle today and it did not accelerate when applying the gas. This has occurred many times in the past but as a result, i was almost rear ended today. I have 40,800 miles. I purchased this vehicle new and have had similar issues in the past but this was a time that the delay in acceleration lasted at least 8 seconds. When this occurs it is always during acceleration from a stop except once when i decelerating to a stop, the engine started to stall until i revved the engine.
My radiator fan is making a noise and i don't believe is functioning properly which is causing my jeep to run hot. My engine smells like burned rubber underneath the hood. The noise occurs when my vehicle is idle.
After initial start car abruptly shuts off after accelerating a short distance. As to put car back in park restart and then put in gear.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that while driving 2 mph, the vehicle overheated and stalled. The vehicle was restarted after four hours. The contacted stated that there was an abnormal burning smell emerging from the vents. The check engine warning indicator light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. The contact mentioned replaced the coolant fan and fuse. The vin was not available.
2.4l engine
Vibrating/rumbling noise through gas pedal and rear differential between 29-34 mph while using cruise/not using cruise/letting off gas pedal slowly; dealership claims its the high gearing, its normal, we cant replicate, chrysler rep states the same thing, yet i take the service mgr for a ride and theres the noise, take service mgr for a ride in another renegade and theres the noise, supposedly they will work on figuring out whats the issue on the other renegade and then deal with mine.digital speedometer fluctuates between +/-1 mph upon setting cruise on level elevation, setting cruise speedometer in center display will read 69 mph but upper right speedometer display reflects 70 mph and only time they ever are the same is when your going downhill, chrysler rep at wi dealership states this is normal and i am calling bullshit, they wont fix it because its within the normal parameters but scientifically it doesnt jive.
First cooling fan module burned out at 15k miles oct 2016, only detected by electrical smoke pouring from fan motor. No dummy light. Currently in shop for second cooling fan module at 38k miles. Both happened with no warning while idling.
My engine has randomly died out 4 times while i'm sitting at a stoplight or stop sign. I've read online many people have had this issue due to bad fuel pumps on jeeps.
The engine on my 2016 renegade with only 32000 miles on it began making a loud knocking sound while idling. After researching online, i determined it was most likely the radiator fan that had either come loose or was bent. It appears that this is an extremely common problem with this make and model due to the multiple online complaints. Of course it happens right past the original warrant expiration so that it is not covered. The cost to fix this was $620 and they had to replace my whole fan assembly.
Vehicle starts engine. However all emergency and warnings lights go on. Brakes and steering lock. Car will not shut off until battery is unpluged. This happens repeatedly and randomly.
Around 40,000 miles my car started consuming oil at an alarming rate.the dealership service department said it was normal for my car to consume 1 quart per 750 miles!that is insane.that said, chrysler guideline for cars is 1 quart per 2000 miles for cars below 50,000 miles.the dealership has refused to repair my engine.i can't even go 2500 miles on an oil change without my car seizing up, stalling, having errors codes (low oil pressure, oil light comes on, electrical error), won't accelerate over 35 miles per hour.this all happens while i'm driving with no warning!very dangerous on a freeway!even the guideline for cars over 50,000 miles the guideline being the car can burn 1 quart every 750 miles is ridiculous.i've owned older models that never did that.is this a new car thing?new cars just burn ridiculous amounts of oil?to what end?
The fan is wobbling and making a grinding noise - like its rubbing on something. Only when idle, or ac/heat is on.
The check engine light came on when driving, when checked it stated it was thermostat is not working on a 2016 car
Hi [xxx]at fca -my name is [xxx]. I called your office at fca customer service regarding the 2016 jeep renegade purchased at wilder toyota. The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that while driving20 mph, there was gray smoke coming from under the hood and inside the vehicle from the vents while the temperature gage warning light illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle stalled and was able to restart. The contact stated that the smoke extinguished independently. In addition, after coolant was poured into the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated continuously.the vehicle was taken to cross chrysler jeep fiat (1501 gardiner ln, louisville, ky 40218) where it was diagnosed that the radiator coolant fan assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 50,000.
When i would get out of my vehicle with it on i could hear a raddling noise coming from the front of my jeep. When i checked it out my radiator fan would wobbling when it spins. My jeep only has 31,000 miles in it.
Problem with cooling fans. Took to two different places and was told this was the problem after a diagnostic was run on the car. Have now left the car with a jeep dealership so do not currently know what the final resolution will be.
My jeep is 4 years old and has 55,000 miles. I leased it brand new and have been the only driver. It has never been in an accident and all of a sudden the a/c is hissing and not blowing cold. I have contacted the jeep dealer and they said they cannot help me since it is out of the 36,000 mile warranty. I had it diagnosed and it supposedly has a leak in the condenser and another hose.. I did not do anything for this to happen. This is not normal taking into account the miles are so low and it has been cared for so well. I believe it is due to faulty manufacturing or parts. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 10 mph,the vehicle overheating indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (ancira eagle pass ford chrysler dodge jeep ram, 403i9 adams cir, eagle pass, tx 78852) where it was diagnosed that the fan fractured. The parts were on backorder until march 19, 2018. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: 33146932. The manufacturer offered to provide a loaner vehicle for ten days. The failure mileage was 21,000.
When driving my vehicle september 29 2017. My 1.3 year old renegades check engine light turned on. Called to make appointmentimmediately with dealer.5 minutes later the the temperature spiked in about 1 second to around 265 degrees. The temperature gauge gave no indication of a rising temperature and literally shot up.the radiator cooling fan locked up.part is on national backorderdon't know when it will get repaired and dont know how much engine damage has occurred.seems to be a national issue as there are other renegades that have been waiting for months for the same parts and have been at dealership for months. Wish jeep would give me a refund as vehicle only gas 11800 miles and potentially gas catasprophic damage.should be a recall and fav should buy vehicle back. Temperature gauge was useless as it only shows the level at normal and from one degree to the next shot to max. Once it went down a few degrees. Dropped backed down to normal range even though was still in 260 degree range.faulty and unreliable. Most likely fcs will say engine is fine then it will break die due to warped or cracked cylinder or head gasket.vehicle was in motion on a city street in semi steady traffic.going in a straight line
Engine cooling fan motor doesnt even last 35,000 miles without being replaced. Bearings in the fan motor go bad!
This car comes almost to a dead stop and stalls when accelerating. Its dangerous because it will stall right as i'm entering traffic and attempting to get up to the speed of traffic during a time when all other cars around me are also accelerating, it's happened since the first day i bought the jeep i've already filed a complaint. These engines should be recalled.
Driving down a long winding hill when acceleration and brakes went out. I was able to stop the car with the emergency brake. No warning lights before or during. Towed to dealership where i was told that it had burned through 4 quarts of oil and that i needed to take it back to do an oil consumption test. There is no way i'm getting back into a vehicle that has no brakes during safe mode and has no warning that anything is wrong. Jeep needs to get these off of the road before it kills someone
Rfh flashed and abs flashed"they released the car to me and said it was fixed and safe.upon driving to work at 5 am, in the dark, i had no exterior lights and could only use my high beams if i held them on.i had no back lights.cars approached very close to my car and i had no idea why.when i got to work, i had another worker check the back of my car and there were no back lights or brake lights.i called the dealer and left a message and dropped the car off after work.after further review, they have now told me the engine needs to be replaced....on a 2016 car.ridiculous.thank you
I have a 2016 jeep renegade that i bought brand new. It has 45,000 miles and when my girlfriend was driving to get some lunch from work and the car started overheating. Now i have realized the issue is that the radiator fan has stopped working. After doing some research i have learned that this is a nation wide problem effecting many people.
Radiator fan failed at 53,000 miles resulting in the engine overheating. Vehicle has been maintained as per manufacturer requirements.
Sitting in event traffic car sitting still and smelled burning from air vents, the panel instrument was reading car overheating.once we were able to get out of traffic and get car up to speed the car stopped overheating but could not let car idle/sit still or car will overheat. Car has 48k miles purchased new, told dealership this should not be happening and service tech stated this was the 3rd to 4th one this week they have worked on with same problem.now looking at close to $600 to replace cooling fan. I feel this should be looked into as a manufacturing issue for recall with so many complaints that i have found online with this model with the same issue of cooling fan problems
3 weeks ago i heard a wobbling sound under the hood while the car was idling. It was a day later i was able catch what it was making the noise which is the cooling fan. I had it towed to the dealership not wanting to drive it for fear of overheating. The issue was confirmed there and after two false arrival dates i spoke to the dealership and thy finally admitted there was no date for the arrival of the new fan. I am now paying for a car i have no idea when i will get back. My job requires me to travel long distances and the older car i am using now is not very reliable for this type of travel.
This car is eventually going to kill someone. The accelerator chooses when to work. My car has 35000 miles on it and when i am turning or on the highway or just driving normally, pressing down on the accelerator it has a two to three second delay before it will engage. The dealerships won't help me and it has almost caused me to get into numerous accidents with my three year old son in the car! many people are having the same issue. Also as of today i am having to replace the radiator fan for the third time. It has burned up twice before! how unfair to buy a new car and have to have these outrageous expenses and safety issues!!! this has to be fixed.
The car engine shuts down unexpectedly while driving. Bought the car from autonation 3 months ago. I noticed the oil low pressure just started to come with the shutdown. This is very dangerous if driving on the highway. This model needs to be recalled because i found hundreds of similar situations online.
The radiator fan is wobbling and causing a rattling noise. This is a known issue among other renegade owners. It may catch on fire or rupture the radiator. It will certainly lead to overheating if it isn't replaced.
Radiator fan is failing at 20,000 miles not not keeping the radiator and engine cool.this occurs while driving and idling.jeep has this part on back order with no eta.i was told that it could be weeks before the part arrives.i have been made aware that many other jeep renegade owners are experiencing this problem, as well as the long delay for the part to arrive.however, there is no recall that has been issued.i have a rental car that i am paying out of pocket for with no assistance from jeep.
The cooling fan for the engine made noise, then stopped working. I have less than 34k miles. This was while the engine was on. And when it was off, it would not move manually.
At about 41000 miles when the cooling fan started to wobble and started to smell. Took it in to get it repaired. It was the cooling fan. After doing some research, over 1000s have had this issue due to faulting bearings in the fan. I urge to demand a recall on this.
My daughter was sitting in line at the bank.she smelled smoke and then saw it coming out of the engine.no lights on her dash came on.after it sat for awhile, we had her turn on the key and all of the dash lights then came on.the car has 35,000 miles on it.we had it towed to southpoint jeep in tulsa (where we purchased it a year ago).the technician said he had 8 others with the exact problem.the technician said this problem is nationwide and that he couldn't tell us when parts would be available, but at this time there was not a recall.he also said he couldn't tell if the overheating damaged the engine.his name is blackjack.he encouraged us to contact customer service-which we have.they established a case for it.the technician said this default, even though we did nothing to cause it, is not covered under the warranty.he did offer us a discount for a rental car.we purchased this car brand new for our daughter to drive to college.we thought jeep was reliable and a reputable company to deal with.she starts classes this monday and we have no vehicle for her.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact detected a burning odor coming from the air vents inside the vehicle and noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the engine was burning hot because the fan failed to cool off the engine. The vehicle was taken to mac haik dodge chrysler jeep ram (3207 s general bruce dr, temple, tx 76504) where it was diagnosed that the fan assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,200.

Rear tailights have stopped working. Diagnostic by the dealership shows that the connectors in moth rear taillights have melted. I got the dash alert when i first started my vehicle.
Electrical issues continue with blinkers, brake lights, tail lights. Replaced battery, replaced cooling fan. Stationary, and when in motion.
All right rear lamps failed at the same time, showing failures on the instrument panel.after online investigation, i found that several people had the same issue.there were pictures of the wiring harness with the center (grounding) pin burnt off.i found the same issue with mine.the failure occurred during normal driving with no lights on on an open county road, in good weather.no signs of any moisture in the tail light enclosure.i was able to solder in a wire to complete the ground circuit and allow the lights to function again.but due to the failure, i was without a right rear turn signal until i got home, which is a safety concern.and apparently i'm not the only one it's happened to.
Multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard when starting vehicle while no problems exist. Warning lights stay on at all times. Chrysler has a recall number "t50" on jeep renegade 2017 models.
The connector to the brake lights (where the wires meets bulbs) melted and has caused my right rear lights to malfunction. I was told the warehouse the part was ordered from had 8 of the parts in stock and that it wasn't normal for that many to be available.
The instrument lights come on and tell me my lights are out and they are not.the radio is all jacked up clock is off the navigation doesn't know where i am or if there is a road there or not.been on phone with uconnect several times and to dealer several times and nothing
My passenger side fog light keeps going out. I have changed it 3x in a very short amount of time. I haven't recognized any pattern or cause behind this. I'm seeing on forums that because you have to access the bulb through the wheel well, possible moisture may be getting into the compartment causing the light to get wet and short. I've been to the dealership and they want me to pay a diagnostic fee and say it's not covered under warranty. This to me sounds like a design flaw and i think they need to fix it.
Went to change the rear left side lights, (tail, tunr signal and brake). Found that the circuit board holding the lights and the connector pin was burned. The connector pin was actually melted. Research this on-line and found that numerous complaints regarding these circuit boards and connectors have this same problem. Reached out to jeep and no comments from them. The only place to find a replacement circuit board and connector is on e-bay. Cannot find it elsewhere.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated the front passenger's side fog light reflector melted, which caused the light to become inoperable. The contact stated that failure made it difficult to see the roadway while driving at night. The vehicle was taken to larry h. Miller chrysler jeep dodge ram sandy located at 10905 auto mall dr, sandy, ut 84070, and the contact was informed that the bulb needed to be replaced. The bulb was replaced however, the contact stated that the driver's side bulb experienced a similar failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Unknown. System failed to warn me that a car was approaching on my blind spot and if i had the warning it could have prevented an accident. Had a warning been given allowing me to know not to cross the lane i would have been more aware of the car approaching my lane and then the automatic emergency braking system couldā€™ve kicked in to prevent this accident from happening in the first place.
Vehicle in motion on the i-90s in buffalo, ny. Sudden loss of mechanical power to my front wheel drive 2016 jeep renegade sport (standard transmission). This occurred on 6/23 at 1:30am following a concert. Driver and passenger were in danger due to a sudden loss of mechanical power to the car and were forced to pull over on a restricted highway overpass. Dealer, west herr (orchard park) quoted fuel pump assembly - mopar (68312374aa) needed to be replaced after a vehicle engine stall at 52092/60,000 (power-train warranty). Replacement of part not covered via power-train as the fuel pump assembly merely contributes to the covered gas engine. Very disappointing to a new owner that had bought used and experienced a significant part replacement which should last the lifetime of the vehicle.
This is regarding my son's vehicle. On two different occasions the fuel gauge has shown fuel in the tank. Once it was showing just under a quarter tank and another showing just under half tank. In reality the tank was completely empty. Both times he was obviously driving and the engine stalled and left him trying to negotiate the vehicle off the road and stranded until his father or where able to reach him.
Been happening for past month first issue happened in jan 2017 call stalling having hard time restarting.backing out of the drive way car stalls once done reversing and putting into drive.have done it with rolling stop at stop sign/light.
I was on my way to work and stopped at a red light in town on a busy street, when the light turned green i started to accelerate and my vehicle started shaking and started to slow at the same time. I tried to push on the gas pedal but it did nothing. I then noticed on my dash screen it said to shift into park to stop. I was barely able to get over to the side of the road when my vehicle had just stopped. I tried restarting my vehicle after turning my hazard lights on and the engine just kept turning, so i pressed the stop button as the engine would not start. The brake was locked up and and so did my shifter. I then had to call a tow service and had my car towed to my local jeep chrysler shop. This happened sunday on my way to work. Monday afternoon the dealership called and said it was my fuel pump. I purchased my vehicle new in august of 2016 and only have 26975 miles on it. I had to pay the dealership 950.36 to replace the fuel pump. After doing some research i saw that the 2017-2018 models of my same vehicle have a recall on the fuel pump and will replace them for free. This recall should be extended to the 2016 models as i had the same issue.
My jeep stalls out when i'm trying to accelerate while making a left hand turn.this has happened a number of times and causes a dangerous situation.it could potentially cause an accident!
After initial start car abruptly shuts off after accelerating a short distance. As to put car back in park restart and then put in gear.
My car stalled twice on two separate occasions while in motion. In both instances i was turning left and then the car slowed down and a notification signaled on the dashboard that the car must be in park to shift. The second time this happened was in rush hour traffic on a busy road. I took my car into the dealer and they told me there was little to no oil in my car. The low oil indicator light never appeared on my dashboard to warn me that my oil was low. My last oil change was 6,000 miles ago, prior to the one i received today. I don't understand how there was no warning light that appeared. I feel very unsafe driving my car now. I have seen several other complaints reported in online forums regarding this issue.
Vehicle was purchased may 16, 2016.on august 6, 2016 the vehicle completely shut off while traveling 60 mph down the interstate. The electronic traction control light came on and the 4-wheel drive lights shutoff completely. It only traveled approximately 20-30 feet before coming to a complete stop. All the lights on the dashboard came on and stayed on. After the stop, the driver was able to put the vehicle in park and attempted to restart the vehicle to remove it from the interstate. The vehicle did not restart, did not turn over; absolutely nothing happened. Shortly after the complete shutoff, the vehicle was hit by another vehicle. Now that the vehicle is in the shop, the body shop is also unable to start the vehicle. They have replaced the air bag assembly and seat belts and the light indicating the fuel shutoff is still on.
Car stalls often.just started happening, recently, but more and more frequently.seems like a fuel pump issue, like the 2017-18 renegade recall was about.often stalls shortly after start up, and when going slowly, or when coming up to a stop.
The car engine shuts down unexpectedly while driving. Bought the car from autonation 3 months ago. I noticed the oil low pressure just started to come with the shutdown. This is very dangerous if driving on the highway. This model needs to be recalled because i found hundreds of similar situations online.
The engine burns through oil way to fast and creates unnecessary cost. Also it always feels like it's going to shut down when i turn right slowly. Power constantly fluctuates.

Parking brake failed to set when pressed. The light for the brake turned on, however the parking brake was not engaged causing the vehicle to roll away from its parked location.
Cooling fan shakes rattles and is not working properly 51,000 miles and had to be replaced cost me
When cold the transmission shifts rough and this causes the car to hesitate and lurch forward and in some instances the car will not accelerate especially when attempting to enter traffic causing several near misses.this has happened many times not just the date entered below.
Brand new vehicle that has a transmission that will not shift between first and second gear without bucking and jerking and when cold poses a hazard when pulling into traffic.i have complained to the dealer they say all do this.it has a zf 9 speed transmission that everyone knows should be recalled
After starting it just shuts down while car is in motion. Can happen anywhere. Engine just shuts off...then takes a couple of attempts to restart
Vehicle accelerated on its own. Driver took foot off the brake from dead stop and the renegade suddenly accelerated on its own without touching the accelerator. The insturment panel flashed and flickered various trouble indications and then stopped with the message to service the electric emergency brake.
I bought this car in may of 2020. It is absolutely ridiculous that a barely 5 year old car is already shifting hard. And has to go under maintenance for the transmission. It is not just my car, but over 75% of jeep renegade owners is having this issue. It is unsafe. I noticed it when i was rolling to a stop at a stop light and my car jerked forward into oncoming traffic. Luckily no one was coming. It could have been deadllllyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!! fix the issue. Now i have to stop farther from the light or sign because i know my car is going to lunge forward. A 5 year old car i have to treat like its 20 years old, i will never be buying another jeep anything again. I was an impala owner for years and never had any issues. Even when my impala hit 19 years old and had almost 300,000 miles. A 5 year old car should by no means act like this. Now after dropping 12,000 on this car i have to leave work, loose more money and go to an appointment on the 21st to see if we can get this issue fixed.
Radiator fan
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate, lounge, or stall at speeds ranging from 0-40 mph. When the vehicle was driven above 40 mph, the failure would no longer occur. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the computer was reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 5,825.
I bought this car a year a ago. It is still under warrenty. The radiator is messed up and car is over heated. It shows check engine light. But dealership is saying it could take them months . Why do not they recall all the cars??
While driving the car loses power and the message "shift to park"appears then the car stalls. The car was traveling less than 25mph.the car may or may not start afterwards. The battery was replaced but the same problem occurs. This has occurred multiple times and has stranded me. It doesn't matter the outside weather conditions.
I have a renegade with a manual transmission.the clutch went on it in less than a year and only 19,000 miles.the clutch was so bad that the flywheel could not be resurfaced.this is not a normal thing.i called chrysler and they said i was passed warranty.i said there was something wrong with the clutch and they denied it.
Premature clutch failure. Vehicle has 13400 miles. Under normal driving conditions at highway speed (65mph,6th gear) cruise control became disabled, and service engine light illuminated. Along with several other service warnings such as service abs, 4wd, parking brake, ecs. Vehicle lost most forward power, but was still able to safely operate due to the vehicles "limp mode". Under "limp mode" vehicle still operated normaly with no indication of mechanical problems, after a few miles, all warning and service engine lights disappeared and normal driving resumed, had full acceleration power, and no issues. Presumed it was a computer malfunction and it corrected it self. Continued to drive to destination, after 30 miles vehicle lost forward power, and service and warning indicators re-appeared. Was unable to disengage the clutch to properly stop vehicle and or shift into neutral. Vehicle was stuck in gear and no matter how hard i pressed on the brake it would not stop the vehicle completely, vehicle would be nearly at a complete stop but would buck and jolt, until i manually shut the vehicle off.vehicle did require a tow service and would not start afterwards. There was no indication that the clutch was slipping or failed during driving nor had it experienced any issue in the previous trips, (ie, smoke, burnt smell, bucking or jolting, rattles) only indication i experienced was the no forward power, unable to shift, and stop properly when the failure occurred. If the clutched failed catastrophically with no prior warning signs, it may have caused an accident due to possible locking of the engine and transmission with no way to disengage, resulting in unable to effectively stop the vehicle. It could also seize the engine and transmission, resulting in a sudden uncontrolled stop.
I was driving when this incident happens on a highway or when i drive in the city. When i go to accelerate usually it happens when my vehicle is going slow for example at a yield sign or at a rotary. I will then press the accelerator and it feels like the transmission is slipping and more times than i'd like to remember someone has almost hit me because they were anticipating me proceeding but when i step on the gas it feels like the transmission slips and i don't go anywhere except i just keep rolling very slowly. I've even floored the gas pedal when this has happened to avoid collision and still my vehicle would not accelerate!! after a few seconds it feels like something is catching or kicking in and the jeep will kind of jerk and then i will be able to use the accelerator pedal again because it works again!i have a 2016 jeep renegade.
Transmission #2 failed on may 31st lurched forward felt like someone slammed into the back of the car at a traffic light and would not shift into gear at all as i looked for a safe place to park it so it could be towed. Slammed into gear as well. Was told that there was no way of knowing where the transmission failed only that it did and was going to be replaced again.
The 9 speed transmission hard shift , jerky motion.i engine stall on the highway when driving. This happens very often.the first it happen it feel like someone had bump the vehicle from behind.
Multiple times when taking off from a stop, under completely dry conditions with clean pavement, the vehicle traction control system has kicked in.the only way to get it to turn off has been to come to a complete stop again, which is very dangerous when pulling out onto a 55mph highway.
The vehicle has a 3 second delay when stepping on the gas pedal before it actually executes on downshifting and accelerating the vehicle. The vehicle has an automatic transmission. The delay is only when the vehicle is in motion stepping on the gas pedal from 0 mph will not reproduce the issue. I addressed the issue with jeep they performed a firmware update then stated they were unable to reproduce the issue however i do not believe they actually tested driving the car. The vehicle used to have the same issue from stationary until the jeep dealership performed a firmware update on the vehicle now the delay is only when the vehicle is in motion.this is how it goes:when i step on gas pedal@1 mississippi - nothing happens@2 mississippi - nothing happens@3 - i hear the car rpms increase - @mississippi - transmission responds and vehicle executes accelerate function. This happens every time with out failure that the gas pedal is pressed all the way to the floor "pedal to the metal" so to speak when the vehicle is in motion.
Been happening for past month first issue happened in jan 2017 call stalling having hard time restarting.backing out of the drive way car stalls once done reversing and putting into drive.have done it with rolling stop at stop sign/light.
Vehicle loses power during turning operations.when making a left or a right turn on dry pavement, the traction control light illuminates and the vehicle loses power.when i initially took the vehicle into the dealer the issue was only occurring during left turns.dealer did a pcm software update and now the problem occurs during right and left turns. I have come disturbing close to being hit while losing power mid turn.i and others are having the same issue.this needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or killed.car was brand new when problem started.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 10 mph and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle shifted into neutral independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission software needed to be updated. The software update was performed; however, the failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,300.
For the past couple of mornings (since the weather has been cooler at night) after starting the car and driving a couple of blocks, the car will suddenly stop in the street with no warning and the screen will flash "the car must brake before shifting gears".when attempting to restart the car, it takes several attempts.no flashing engine lights on the control panel and no code for the dealership to diagnose the issue (i was there today).i have been fortunate that no other car was behind me or i would certainly have been rear ended.once the car has warmed, the problem does not occur for the rest of the day.so far, it has only occurred first thing in the morning with the temp below 68 degrees.i am concerned about this issue as the car suddenly stopping in the middle of the road is a real danger.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle made a "rough truck" sound, independently shifted into a lower gearand independently decelerated to 25 mph. The engine overheating and oil warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred three more times. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. Diagnostic testing was performed, but no issues were found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 2,200. Updated 06/02/17*lj*as
Vibrating/rumbling noise through gas pedal and rear differential between 29-34 mph while using cruise/not using cruise/letting off gas pedal slowly; dealership claims its the high gearing, its normal, we cant replicate, chrysler rep states the same thing, yet i take the service mgr for a ride and theres the noise, take service mgr for a ride in another renegade and theres the noise, supposedly they will work on figuring out whats the issue on the other renegade and then deal with mine.digital speedometer fluctuates between +/-1 mph upon setting cruise on level elevation, setting cruise speedometer in center display will read 69 mph but upper right speedometer display reflects 70 mph and only time they ever are the same is when your going downhill, chrysler rep at wi dealership states this is normal and i am calling bullshit, they wont fix it because its within the normal parameters but scientifically it doesnt jive.
Transmission #1 had a crack in it and failed in january 2019 would not shift into reverse or drive in the driveway would not go back in the parking spot until the car was turned off and restarted. Hill assist light and electronic brake lights went off, along with the service transmission light.. Slammed into park and reverse. Whole transmission was replaced.
Brand new two week old 2016 jeep renegade with 400 miles. Twice today while pulling out from a stop making a left turn complete loss of power and traction control light lit up. Street was a paved asphalt city road. About 2-3 seconds of no power until power returned.it was 65 degrees and sunny. Not wet or gravel. No wheel slippage. Within an hour i researched this issue and immediately saw several complaints same issue. I called jeep customer service and explained the situation and asked if there had been any reports of this issue or resolutions to the problem. The customer service rep denied having any complaints or record of this issue. Next stop will be the dealer. I have been unable to re-create the issue but again it just started today. This is a very dangerous issue and seems to be happening to many other customers.
2016 jeep renegade trailhawk had to replace the thermostat do to code p0128 had 51,000 miles should be a recall on this because it cost me
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While the contact;s son was driving 35 mph, the gear shifted from drive into neutral on its own. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The driver was able to shift back into drive to continue to his destination. The following night, while the contact's son was looking outside his residence, he witnessed the vehicle turn on and shift ino neutral on its own. The contact's son entered the vehicle with the key and turned off the ignition. The vehicle was taken to minot automotive center (located at 3615 s broadway, minot, nd 58701, (701) 289-9350) to be repaired per an unknown recall. The dealer was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
Cooling fan assembly stopped functioning and caused smoking and loud noise from under the hood accompanied by a strong chemical or burning smell.this happened while stopped at a traffic light. Immediately pulled to the side of road and turned car off. No leaking fluid noted beneath vehicle. Car turned back on and the check engine light then came on. Part is back ordered with no date. Per dealership, not under warranty and dangerous to drive. No loaner car offered.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving various speeds on different occasions, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated. The contact stated that the brake pedal needed to be depressed firmly to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to arrigo dodge chrysler jeep ram west palm beach (6500 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33411, (561) 257-5198) and test driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,000. The consumer stated the vehicle intermittently stopped responding to the releasing of the gas pedal.
The "beats" speaker system didn't last more then 30,000 miles; there are shifting issues, along with stalling issues and most recently a mysky panel shift that needs to be replaced for 4200!
*dt
Within a few weeks into purchasing the new 2016 jeep renegade vehicle in december 2016, and intermittently since then, we have had "dead peddling" issues, example: we are stopped at a stop light to turn right, traffic clears with enough clearance to allow a safe acceleration to turn right and enter with the flow of traffic, however, when the gas peddle is mashed to go forward, nothing happens, sometimes for a few moments, and then the car moves forward at the, now, wrong moment, when it is unsafe to turn right, since traffic has caught up and the gap to enter the flow of traffic is no longer a safe distance from oncoming traffic, causing me to have to hit the brakes. Also, accelerating onto the highway from an exit/entrance to enter the highway (going 25-35 mph from the on ramp, when entering onto a 65 mph highway), pressing harder on the gas peddle to attempt to achieve a higher speed to move onto the highway with the flow of traffic, is delayed or doesn't happen at all unless we let off the gas and press again, sometimes multiple times, and the vehicle is still traveling at an unsafe slower speed than the flow of highway traffic going 65+mph. These issues happen randomly both when the vehicle is at a complete stop, and at a lower speed when we want to speed up. We have no issues braking or slowing down. Another safety flaw is the vehicle does not shift gears when needed, it will "red-line" occasionally before shifting when attempting to speed up. All of our issues have happened both on the highway and in the city. We have almost been hit or rear ended by a semi-truck or other vehicles due to these flaws. Every time we bring it to the dealership with these complaints, or for normal oil changes, we have mentioned these issues and they have been documented as such, however, the dealership doesn't have fixes for the issues, as they can't duplicate the issue.
On the hutchinson parkway ,could not shift gears in my manual car. Middle lane not able to engage transmission in to any 6 forward gears. This occurred november 23, 2016 thanksgiving eve. At 2:30 pm. I'm alive but this was the worst experience in my 40 plus years of driving. Three tows later, and still have not heard what is wrong with the jeep ,going on a month. Stationary had to be pushed from middle lane of this major highway in the bronx,ny.
The engine burns through oil way to fast and creates unnecessary cost. Also it always feels like it's going to shut down when i turn right slowly. Power constantly fluctuates.
The vehicle jerks at take off and periodically when accelerating. Yesterday, while taking off from a red light, the car wouldn't move. Had to shift to park and back to drive. Car has 52000 miles on it.
Transmission shifts hard (like a manual on my first day of driving school) upshift and downshift in lower gears. Problem persists in any weather condition as i live in the north east. Brake rotors wear uneven causing pulsation due to sticking calipers
'takata recall'cooling fan went out in december 2017 received vehicle back 2018. Heard noises from vehicle took it back and they say the brakes & rotors need to be replace (how when it was with you all fortwo months). Now it's october 2018, thermostat is going out. Why wasn't this caught at the time of the replacement of the cooling fan. Then the seat belt mysteriously have a cut or something in it and they don't cover it so it will be an out of pocket fee. It's unsafe to have a thermostat going out as well as a seat that has a cut/splitting.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the failure recurred while attempting to move from a stop where the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to larry h. Miller chrysler jeep tucson 7800 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85710, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired in year 2015 under nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train) however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on three separate occasions and repaired under a manufacturer extended warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,030.*as
1. Trunk lid does not stay latched. Some series of opening and closing different doors typically rectifies issue. Multiple witnesses. Intermittent. No pattern.2. Vehicle stalls intermittently when making tight turns into traffic (heavy construction at my complex's only entrance/exit). Vehicle also 'turns off' despite it being in 'drive' and moving--i receive a message stating to put foot on brake and push button to start vehicle despite it being in drive and moving. This means i have to stop the car in angry traffic, put my foot on the brake, move shift to park and then restart a vehicle that was already running. At least three software updates have been supposedly installed along with a module on separate occasions. The last incident, four horns blared at me and one vehicle hit my back driver quarter panel/bumper. No one stopped. They just drove around me. I did not file a police report. I called the dealer (again) and had to drive quite a distance (again) for them to look it over, (again). Note: i no longer live near that dealership. The renegade scares me-- terrifies me at times. I am no longer getting responses from chrysler regarding the ticket number. No one will drive in my vehicle with me. The 'stalling' issue is primarily on intermittent right turns. Since the last software update, turning left is now becoming an intermittent problem. This last time i took it in, the service man touched up the red paint from my being hit, but did nothing about the scratches. So i am going to have to file a claim because of a faulty vehicle having 'computer errors.' according to the service manager the vehicle was not designed to provide issue codes, yet they keep putting software updates. Vehicle often feels like the brake is partially set or running in a low gear. Sometimes i must put my foot literally to the floor to get up to speed. Issues started the first week i got it
While driving, warning light came up "shift vehicle to park" and car essentially goes into neutral.once pulled over, car couldn't be restarted for a few minutes and wouldn't shift out of park.when it finally did shift, the "shift vehicle to park" warning came up again.luckily, this happened on a local road and not a 70mph highway.happened 2 more times when car was started and attempted to shift to d and/or r and car wouldn't shift.
I had the car for less than 3 weeks, brand new, check engine light came on.all tests were performed and the final solution after one full week of testing is to replace the transmission.the car has 700 miles on it.i am extremely concerned driving a brand new car with my kids in it that replacing a transmission is only the first step.
"power transmission"in july of 2018 in rush hour in las vegas (5pm-5:30pm) while vehicle was in motion and foot was on the accelerator the 2016 jeep renegade powered off & shut down.had to turn off the vehicle and restart for the vehicle to start up again.this happened on a very busy street road.in august of 2018 in rush hour in las vegas (4:30pm-5:30pm) while vehicle was in motion and foot was on the accelerator the 2016 jeep renegade powered off & shut down.had to turn off the vehicle and restart for the vehicle to start up again.this occurred on a slightly busy street road.this happened twice. Both times i was very lucky i wasn't killed with oncoming traffic. Car was examined at and it was determined that the transmission was at fault and needed to be changed.this process took a month. I was reluctantly given a loaner car with a few case managers saying it was a favor of chrysler to be allowing me to have this loaner car.not understanding how dangerous this car was.how my life was at stake. It's now april 2019 and the same signs i experienced with the dying transmission last year are happening again. Every time i turn on my air conditioner my car starts to act shaky.a strange smell gets emitted, and the shifting of the gears slows down.every time i park my car on an incline and i use my emergency breaks @ my driveway my cars breaks are slow to respond.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While attempting to park the vehicle, the gear shifter did not move to the park gear. The contact had to maneuver the gear shifter between other gears for approximately twenty minutes until it moved into the park gear. The contact called pueblo dodge chrysler jeep ram (located at 2147 w us highway 50, pueblo, co 81008, 719-545-6666) and was informed that there were no recalls related to the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. The vin was unknown.
Incident with new 2016 jeep renegade resulting in an accident.i was slowly pulling in a parking spacewhen the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own and i was unable to bring the vehicle to a stop before itwent overthe parking curb and hit the side of the restaurant. I contactedjeep roadside assistance on monday morning 11/21/16 to have it towed to capitol city jeep in jefferson city. I explained the acceleration incident.i contacted my insurance company (aaa - policy number a4-150117-1; claim # pa1401055). I contacted national jeep customer assistance that morning, explained the incident, and was assigned a case file number (30543876). That same afternoon, the service technician at the dealership contacted my cell phone and left a message (which i have retained), stating they had installed several flash updates to correct the acceleration.the vehicle damage was $862.my insurance adjuster was told by the dealership that the flashupdates that were installed had nothing to do with acceleration issues. These were two conflicting results entirely.mr. Peyton contacted me next on 11/30/16and said he had been to look at the vehicle (he did not notify me when he was going, as he had said he would). He asked me the date and time of the accident, if there were any injuries (no), any passengers (no), any property damage (4500) and my insurance company (aaa). He also asked me my preferred outcome - and i said to have a full refund since the vehicle only had 630 miles on it and for jeep to cover damage to the vehicle ($862), associatedproperty damage in my subsequent research on the 2015 and 2016 jeep renegade, i found a high volume of complaints with transmission/power train problems, including several sudden acceleration events.this is a very dangerous situation for jeep. Received letter from jeep 12/1216 - no acknowledgment of defective parts.
I found a serious safety concern with jeep renegades like mine.like many owners, i bought a jeep to be safe in the snow.i no longer feel safe.i had a minor smog fault (evap) and while driving, the check engine light came on.as soon as the light is on, the four wheel drive will not engage.this left me stranded on a snowy day with no four wheel drive for an irrelevant problem. This is the case for all jeep renegades and possibly other fiat made models.it is not satisfactory.this behavior of four wheel drive being cut out is, i found, well documented on various internet user groups.i would prefer if they reprogram my vehicle so the four wheel drive stays available no matter what.
Upon making a right turn from a stop, the car stalls out.engine is still on, but no engagement.
Intermittent check parking break, check air bag warning keeps coming on. Also will not recognize when driver seat belt is engaged. This happens when the vehicle is started and at least one of the three warnings will stay on when the vehicle is in motions.
Driver's seat belt will not buckle. The mechanism malfunctioned and you can't insert the buckle into the lock. There is no seat belt alert sound either because of this malfunction.
I am reporting a possible safety problem that has developed over recent months with my 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk 4x4.the vehicle has a recurring malfunction with the driver side seat electrical wiring assembly.the problem occurs intermittently after the seatbelt is properly secured and there is normal body movement in the driver seat while the vehicle is in motion. The problem so far affects several of the electronic subsystems connected to the vehicle's driver seat.this malfunction has caused temporary or permanent disabling of the driver seat power controls, airbag system, electronic parking brake system and seatbelt warning system.

My seat warning light comes on. Took it to dutch miller jeep in south charleston, wv. I was informed that the seat built switch was defective. After checking the internet it seems this is a common occurrence on jeep vehicles. This is expensive to repair and is a safety hazard per the repair technician.

The 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk suv has a recurring power seat problem that prevents the use of the 8-way and lumbar functions. The problem causes the driver seat to freeze and lock into a position on the seat floor tracks.this could create a serious problem in the event of an emergency.

Odometer blinking/flashing
Due to unknow reasons the driver side power seat positional controls in my jeep renegade have become uncontrollable and unpredictable in their functionality. The driver power seat malfunction lingers despite several time-consuming vehicle examinations by a fca local authorized jeep dealership service agent. This issue presents a safety and health hazard to me while operating the vehicle.
This condition would present a safety hazard in the event a speedy evacuation is necessary.

Vehicle starts engine. However all emergency and warnings lights go on. Brakes and steering lock. Car will not shut off until battery is unpluged. This happens repeatedly and randomly.
I was on a highway going 65mph and my engine cut off, steering locked up, and i had no control of breaks or anything. I could not get over or even put my hazards on to signal to other drivers i could not stop or get to another lane. When a tow truck arrived he tried a new battery and everything and could not even get the car in neutral to be able to tow it to the side of the road. Had to get special truck there to get the car to safety and a shop. After getting to the shop they said it was an issue with my water pump that caused everything to shut down suddenly.
The brakes squeal constantly. We noticed it shortly after purchase but assumed it was from being a new vehicle. After owning the vehicle for a year, we took it in to have the brakes and roters replaced. We were told that there was a lot of padding remaining. The squealing occurs whenever your foot is on the break, regardless if you are still or slowing.
The connector to the brake lights (where the wires meets bulbs) melted and has caused my right rear lights to malfunction. I was told the warehouse the part was ordered from had 8 of the parts in stock and that it wasn't normal for that many to be available.

I've had two separate occurrences happened to me. The first one i came to a stop sign and made a complete stop, when i went to accelerate my accelerator, brake pedaland steering wheel locked, i had to put the car on park and turn the engine off in the middle of the street, wait a moment, turn it on, it took a while to turn on but then everything went back to normal and i continued my journey. The second time, i was i was driving and slowed down to make a left turn, as i started turning my car completely stopped in the middle of the road, again, everything locked, and i almost got it with oncoming traffic. Once again i had to put the car on park and shut the engine off in the middle of traffic and wait for it to turn back on. I have no idea what is causing this but it's very dangerous and i could've been seriously injured as well as other people.
Transmission shifts hard (like a manual on my first day of driving school) upshift and downshift in lower gears. Problem persists in any weather condition as i live in the north east. Brake rotors wear uneven causing pulsation due to sticking calipers

Jeep renegade parking brake came on and would not go off.jeep was unable to be moved and had to be dragged up on tow truck and dragged into the shop.this created a hazardous situation as the vehicle could not be moved to safety.also jeep failed to cover and of the repairs.
Intermittent check parking break, check air bag warning keeps coming on. Also will not recognize when driver seat belt is engaged. This happens when the vehicle is started and at least one of the three warnings will stay on when the vehicle is in motions.
Driving on rainy day.going anywhere from 30 to 55 mph.all idiot lights came on the dash.said service everything lost power steering lost power brakes.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While the contact's daughter was driving 45 mph, she heard an abnormal noise. In addition, the brake pedal required excessive force to stop the vehicle. The driver parked on the side of the road and inspected the vehicle. The contact was an independent mechanic and also inspected the vehicle. The driver called jeep chrysler dodge ram fiat of ontario (located at 1202 auto center dr, ontario, ca 91761, (909) 906-7097 and notified them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 89,643.
My vehicle makes a loud screeching noise while driving. When taken for service i was told that the left front caliper has failed and is not releasing. This presents serious issue for braking. According to the dealership the left front caliper is on national back order with no release date, thus indicating that this is a major nationwide problem with this particular vehicle. My major concern is that i cannot even have the problem repaired in a timely manner as the part is on back order with no release date.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving approximately 75 mph, the power steering assist failure message displayed on the message board and the steering ability became very difficult. The vehicle was driven to south pointe jeep (9240 s memorial drive, tulsa, ok 74133) where the power control module was flashed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 55,601.

Driving on rainy day.going anywhere from 30 to 55 mph.all idiot lights came on the dash.said service everything lost power steering lost power brakes.
Was in motion on city street and power steering / traction control randomly cut out causing the vehicle to loose control. This has happened several times. The power will cut the engine sometimes and other times the car just drifts and i cannot control it. I have almost seriously wrecked because of it twice. *dt
Went to mavis tires for a tire rotation 1/28/20 after leaving the chrysler/jeep dealership for transmission fluid change told 9 speed sealed never needs anything . The guys at mavis said that my lug bolts were swollen and that they could not do the work and that i needed to go to the dealership and have them replaced because only chrysler / jeep make the part. My jeep has only 49,800 miles and the mavis guys told me that i needed lug replacements back in november 2019 , i have owned many cars and trucks in the past and never had to replace lugs bolts on a vehicle with such low miles on it . They checked it both stationary and in motion to make sure they are on properly the guys at mavis also told me when i requested an alignment that they tested drove it first and told me it didn't need one but i felt it roll more to the right that was in 8/2019 so now with four new tires first in 8/20219 for two then 10/2019 which is why i felt it was time to rotate the tires but couldn't get this done due to the swelled up lug bolts on all four tires
The airbag system warning light and the power steering warning intermittently go on and physical loss of power steering is felt. This happens both while at idle stationary and driving in traffic on both highway and city.*dt
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While approaching a red light, the 'power steering system check' message displayed and the steering wheel become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (zimmer chrysler dodge jeep ram, 1086 burlington pike, florence ky), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was also notified. The failure mileage was 31,000. The vin was not available.
I lost the ability to steer my car. I was driving home from work, going the posted speed limit,50 mph, then all of a sudden i couldn't steer my car, i nearly had an accident,i stopped the car, turned off the ignition, started it back up and it would steer again.
Car looses power steering and power and does not shut off and air bags are not on while driving

The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving 35 mph, the contact lowered the rear window. The outside air rushed inside the vehicle and made a high-pitched noise against the roof of the vehicle. The noise caused the contact to become disoriented and dizzy. The contact searched online and found many complaints related to the failure. The contact rolled the window back up and the noise went away. The contact even tried lowering the window a little bit at a faster speed and the noise increased in volume with air seeping into the headliner. The manufacturer stated that nothing could be done and all the vehicles had the same issue. The contact was referred to an unknown dealer where the contact was informed again that nothing could be done. The failure mileage was 20,874.
Posting this incident due to seeing so many other similar issues with the renegade windshield. I leased the renegade under a great deal of pressure in july 2016. Now i am seeing why. It is a dangerous piece of junk. Issue: i was driving the vehicle during week two with a friend that was a witness. We were on a dry, clear road with two other cars, something flew up and dinged the windshield and the windshield cracked. Had to make claim to get it repaired. Company did a patch, but the star crack is still in the lower part of my vision. Since this is a lease i likely will need to have the entire windshield replaced. I haven't had any claims or tickets in well over thirty years. I have had jeeps and other chrysler vehicles my entire life and never have i had a windshield crack with less than 300 miles on it. With the other engine issues and stalling issues this vehicle is a death trap. Going to tape a note to the back of the vehicle that the "this renegade stalls and turns off without warning. Please don't hit me." (reported in other incident reports.)
The mysky roof on my jeep broke off and flown off and onto the highway, the latch on the inside broke off into tiny plastic pieces causing the sunroof to fly up and out onto the highway. The vehicle was in motion going 63 mph at the time the event took place, on a highway.
Issues started the first week i got it
I was on the freeway when the car made a grinding noise and stop soddenly and it wouldn't move as ifthe brakes had lock up on me and it felt like something had brooked but i couldn't see any thing until the mechanic told me that it was the rear suspension rear control arm. And rear suspension rear rod came off loose and caused the rear wheel to move sideways and it was dragging.
Initially vehicle had a burning smell which turned out to be the auxiliary coolant pump.after changing the coolant pump in march vehicle produced false overheat conditions four times and the vehicle lost power and shut down each time, while driving.two of the times while on the highway and the other two while driving through local streets.dealer then changed the temperature sensor.the problem could not be duplicated so there is no guarantee that the issue has been corrected.as a secondary issue the vehicle then had grinding noise in front end which occurred in june and is still occurring.initially they changed the right front upper mount bearing.they have replaced that part once again as well as the right front hub bearing and spindle, control arm, and the upper strut mount boot, none of which have corrected the problem.this once again cannot be duplicated on a lift and they are having issues diagnosing the problem. As of this writing vehicle has been in shop over 30 days and they are still unable to repair.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. While driving between 60 and 65, the contact noticed the vehicle was pulling to the left. The vehicle was coasted over to the side of the road. The contact inspected the vehicle and found no failures. The vehicle was towed to lester glenn chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat (1199 nj-37 w, toms river, nj 08755, (732) 481-2586) where it was determined that the damage was caused by the vehicle striking something. The technician informed the contact that the rear driver's side control arm was bent. The contact stated that the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact the vin was not included in a recall. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 15,500.

I could not get over or even put my hazards on to signal to other drivers i could not stop or get to another lane.
Radiator fan stopped working around 30k miles. After doing a bit of research it seems to be a common issue among 16-18 renegade model. However, no recall has been issued and there should be. Temperature gauge goes to the max when vehicle is idle.
Radiator fan shroud is missing the heat shield causing the fan to eventually warp malfunction and or burst into flames.all equipment is as is from factory.
Fan rattles vehicle overheats ac not working notice all this when came to a stop and was idling.
My air in my 2016 jeep renegade stopped working right at the 41,000/ 42,000 milage mark. I tried to replace the freon myself, as i thought it was an easy fix, not so.you have to purchase the new freon and have special tools to access it.i then began researching. Seems this model / make is known to run out of freon right after the warranty.you heard me...after the warranty!plus, they make it so you have to take it to the shop.i have been a loyal jeep customer for years, but this has me frustrated and pissed quite frankly.it is ridiculous!fix the problem if you know it is happening....but it is a money maker.i will be spreading the word on every social media site i can get my hands on.i am also bbb'ing this horrible experience.oh, and the local dealers can not stock the freon, due to the exorbitant price.screwing the customers as usual!
One day i was driving and my jeep stalled out on me.it took a few minutes to get it started again.it happened a few more times within a 2 week period and then as i was turning the low oil pressure light flashed on for a split second.i took my jeep in to get an oil change (brought it in under requested mileage) and told dealership of the stalling and low oil pressure light.they told me that there was no oil in the jeep at all and i told them that was impossible because they did the last oil change i brought it in under the requested mileage for this oil change.they told me to come at 4000 miles instead.at approximately 4000 after getting oil change my car again stalled out as i was driving.my husband checked the oil and again it was "bone dry"the jeep is burning oil excessively.have to do oil consumption test with dealership.there are no warning lights that come on to state that oil is low. Have to check oil level weekly to make sure there's oil in car.if the oil gets too low the jeep stalls out unexpectedlu while in motion.does not start back up for at least 3 minutes.i was driving with my 8 year old and 2 year old and the it stalled out unexpectedly while in motion.luckily this happened on a side road but it has happened 3 other times.one time was getting onto the highway.this is very dangerous.a new car should not be consuming oil to the point that it needs to be checked weekly.
Radiator fan assembly rattle and vibration issue.the dealer has had the car for two months for this issue waiting for a fix from jeep and have yet to find a solution to the issue and it seems that many people are experiencing the very same issue.the car also at times will not start when the start button is pushed and thedealer claims that it is not an issue but others are complaining of it as well.the car was purchased in march of 2016 and the dealers has had the car for 3+ plus months during that time.
The guide lines have disappeared on the reverse camera.
The fan that cools the engine was loose, rattling and completely failed causing it to make my radiator fluid overheat to 252 degrees! couldn't drive for fear of my engine overheating and had to get it towed!! it was only at 37,00 miles!from this link to a forum it appears very many people are having the same issues at very low miles!http://www.jeeprenegadeforum.com/forum/434-problems-issues/68882-radiator-cooling-fan-issue-thread-6.html#/topics/68882?page=5seems like there should be a recall on this because it seems to be a very common problem! this is just one page out of many pages of the forum. The engine started overheating when i was in idle, but i am not sure when the fan actually broke. It had made a rattling sound during idle the day before it broke.
Cooling fan failure on 2016 jeep renegade latitude as reported by other renegade owners, unfortunately i cannot find my vin under any recalls on this item.
I have a problem with the radiator fan!it was fix last yr,was a recall also and now is giving me the engine light showing in the computer is something with the radiator fan!i took it to a place where they deal with jeep brand and i donā€™t know why didnā€™t last longer if they fix it!!i need to know why do i have to pay when it was a recall?tomorrow i have the apt but i will end up paying for this problem when they should of just fix it the 1st time, right?since it was a recall, why do i have to pay?is only been a yr since they did this recall!radiator fan are suppose to last more than a yr,right?
Random times on dry roads both city and ruralwhile slowing to make turns or starting from still to make turns or slowing the trying to resume speed the esp/traction control engages. Shuts down power to car and can not accelerate for a short period of time. With high speed vehicles approaching from out of view from the side or rear this has nearly caused several collisions for me.
Car running in park waiting at bus stop , heard a pop, then smelled smoke, then got out and fire under front passenger side , called 911 and fire went up in flames and completely destroyed whole front of my car everything lost . Got me and son out and that was it. This is a safety risk!!
Loss of acceleration/power when turning right or left on dry surfaces. Traction control module comes on when this happens.instrument panel flashes that the back brake lights are out and the right/left hand turn signals not working. Happens when starting vehicle and stays on until you shut off car a few times.
At 28,600 miles car started making loud noise under the hood so i decided to open the hood and take a look i notice that the fan was wobbling so much and it was hitting some other parts. Car then started overheating and smoking. After taking the car to the dealer they checked my car and said that it would be dangerous if i drive the car in that condition because i could have an accident. The cooling fan module and fuse had to be replaced. They mentioned it was a very common problem for this car.
The mysky moon roof has no safety stop when retracting or closing the window! my wife was closing the passager seat my sky and her finger got smashed in the roof.i saw it happening and there was no way to stop it from going after hitting the button several times.the design required it to completely close before it will open. This is a major safety concern in the event a child is playing there was no safety stop or a retractable safety sensor.my wife's fingers may be broken i will be taking her to the doctor today.
Check engine light comes on.dealer says it need new radiator fan. 38,000 miles.seems many people have had this issue. Dealer quotes $725 to repair. This needs to be a recall.
We were on our way to charleston, sc when we heard a rattling noise under the hood. After further inspection when we stopped we noticed the cooling fan was wobbling. When we got back to our hometown a few days later i took the car to the dealership. They stated it was the cooling fan assembly and needed to be replaced. This was not covered by any warranty and was going to cost close to $500. The dealer stated that this had been a recent problem they were noticing on a few other renegades they repaired in the past couple of weeks. I have researched forums and so many people have been having this very same issue with their renegades and no recall has been issued.
Sometimes when i start my car the traction control light is on (meaning traction control is off) this has happened twice in the last month. It turns on just fine when i press the button and the light goes away. Until yesterday i was driving i was accelerating at the bottom of a small hill about to reach the bottom of it. (i was going 15-20mph) the light flashed on and of really fast (like strobe light fast) and my car felt like the break was pressed and let go with the light. While i was trying to speed up the car wouldn't. (like if you went break, gas, break, gas ect,) this happened for a couple seconds till i let go of the gas and it stopped. And everything went back to normal.while this was happening i also heard a grinding sound i'm not sure when it came from. This was on a straight city street the car was in automation mode with the 4 wheel drive mode set to automate. After this i went to a authorized dealer/mechanic. I don't remember what he said but he said my car was on a recall and i know for a fact that he is lying because i have checked multiple times 2 recalls for this type of car have been made and none effect my vehicle.(check by vin number) i can't trust the mechanic to look at the problem.
The latch to the lift is continuously popping open, so it's killing my battery. It is only happening when it's parked but i haven't tried to drive with it happening
Air conditioner wont hold anti freeze. Dealership says the accompressor unit has shrapnel in it and needs to be replaced and they would not do it because it happens to ac units sometimes and not covered under warranty. (ac units should last longer than 3 years!)
Car hit 40000 miles and radiator fan started making squealing noise and now dosen't cut on at all. Jeep has almost overheated because of this
Hi [xxx]at fca -my name is [xxx]. I called your office at fca customer service regarding the 2016 jeep renegade purchased at wilder toyota. I spoke to [xxx] and she was unable to put me through to leave a direct message. Please call me at+[xxx]regarding my niece [xxx] vehicle a 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk.i hoped you would listen as i explain to you in detail that the jeep renegade my niece bought at wilder toyota in port angeles washington the is dangerous.the vehicle by the way -that has almost caused her and her son to be in four accidents due to its sudden deceleration at 50 mph to 30mph with no warning. Here is the ?fixes? for the same problem that never addressed the reason the vehicle continues to do the same thing. Nothing is fixed.also it has broken down four times -the last time on the hood canal bridge which stopped traffic in both directions and a tow truck had to come out on the bridge to tow it all the way back to wilder toyota in port angeles. She has had to have it towed back to wilder toyota four times and they have not fixed it at all. Now apparently you would like her to drive it awaytomorrow???? and apparently this time it?s fixed because the ?oil got changed?? what?? that?s not the problem [xxx]the problem is that the car is going to kill someone if not [xxx] then someone else. Why would you threaten her that she has to bring back the loaner when whatever is wrong has not been addressed??are you listening to her when she tells you she?s is afraid of driving that vehicle due to the numerous problems and scary situations it has put her in?are you listening to me ? chrysler needs to do the right thing and buy that car back before it kills someone white this vehicle off of the road immediately before it kills my niece and her 3yr son. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I have seen a recall for the 2017 jeep renegade where the engine is stalling. This is an issue with the 2016 and 2015 as well. I have a 2016 and mine has stalled numerous times, but today it almost got me and others on the road, killed. I was turning onto a roadway and it stalled to a stop in the middle of the road.i have talked with other local renegade owners that all have the same issue. Why aren't the other, previous years included in on the recall since we all have this issue? i have made my family aware of this issue, so if anything happens to me while driving, they know where to go, legally. I am so disappointed, because this was supposed to be my safe fix over my vw beetle convertible - i felt safe in that over this vehicle. I am now stuck with a car that i am frightened to drive and will most likely need a repair for a known issue, but i will get to foot the bill.i have just scheduled a diagnostic test with a dealership, just to be reimbursed when the recall is issued.
The vacuum hose on this model constantly breaks. It broke as soon as i bought it. Have replaced multiple times. Last time was september and it has already broken again. The service tech told me that they see it all the time on this model. It was the second time they had seen a broken vacuum hose on a renegade just that day! why has there never been a recall to address this????????
My jeep is 4 years old and has 55,000 miles. I leased it brand new and have been the only driver. It has never been in an accident and all of a sudden the a/c is hissing and not blowing cold. I have contacted the jeep dealer and they said they cannot help me since it is out of the 36,000 mile warranty. I had it diagnosed and it supposedly has a leak in the condenser and another hose.. I did not do anything for this to happen. This is not normal taking into account the miles are so low and it has been cared for so well. I believe it is due to faulty manufacturing or parts. Thank you.
Cooling fan went bad. This has been a major ongoing issue with these jeep renegade.
The mysky roof on my jeep broke off and flown off and onto the highway, the latch on the inside broke off into tiny plastic pieces causing the sunroof to fly up and out onto the highway. The vehicle was in motion going 63 mph at the time the event took place, on a highway.
Radiator cooling fan made horrible noise and started smoking. Fan motor will no longer come on and jeep overheats
The car stall on the highway without any warning it was suddenly in smoke the coolant temperature was all the way low, after is stall car read low in oil . When i open the hood it didn't have a drop of oil. This happen a few months ago the last time the coolant was empty. The car gets service only by arrigo dodge chrysler jeep palm beach.
The radiator fan malfunctioned then died. The vehicle is only 3 years old with 34,600 miles and weeks outside of the manufacturer's warrantee expiration date. This repair cost me $667.00. In checking with other owners of the same vehicle in the jeep renegade community, this seems to be a widespread problem.however, jeep has not issued a recall.
2016 jeep renegade spontaneously caught fire while parked on a city street. Observed smoke coming from under hood with car not running. When opened hood to investigate the entire car erupted in flames and burned to the ground. Causing the car barked adjacent to also catch fire
Driving home from work, i was stationary on a coty street with oncoming traffic, waiting at the light to make a left turn.when the light changed, i let off the brake and at the very beginning of applying pressure to the gas pedal to accelerate, the renegade stalled with no warning, no warning lights.under 16,000 miles and not due for an oil change for around 500 miles. I had to put on my flashers, press the stop button and then restarted by applying my foot to the brake and pushing the start button.the dealer checked the wiring harness (per my request as others have posted having this issue and stated the wiring harness was the problem).they stated they checked everythingand found nothing other than the renegade to be a quart low on oil and this was the cause of the stall/ shut down.they stated this has happened with some jeep cherokees as well.this is not safe at all, to have a vehicle stall with no warning, no warning lights while in the middle of traffic.i feel it's just a matter of time before someone stalls and is hit by another driver because of this, causing injury or death.
The "beats" speaker system didn't last more then 30,000 miles; there are shifting issues, along with stalling issues and most recently a mysky panel shift that needs to be replaced for 4200!
My sunroof stopped opening. When you push the button to open it you can hear the motor run and something moving and trying to open. I've used it less than a dozen times since i bought it brand new and it just stopped opening.
2016 jeep renegade caught on fire while driving down highway. Cause of fire is unknown. First saw smoke while going down the highway at 65mph. Fire was seen coming from the dash and immediately pulled over. The fire quickly spread, basically burning everything inside the vehicle.
Navigation issues. Navigation system is improperly calibrated.
After initial start car abruptly shuts off after accelerating a short distance. As to put car back in park restart and then put in gear.
Traction control light randomly goes on in varying road and driving conditions that do not warrant it.this causes the car to slip and there is loss of control of the car (gas, steering) for 5 to 10 seconds in this mode which poses huge danger to the driver.in latest incident light didn't go out and had to restart car in middle of road. Car is at dealer for third time.opened claim with manufacturer on 8/15/17.dealer and manufacturer do not acknowledge issue but we have found a number of forums. This is a serious safety issue.this happens at different speeds, turning, going straight, etc. First repair was nov 2106. Said found nothing but reloaded software. Feb 17 a number of dash board lights we're going on again and latest incidents for which we went to dealer today affects traction control more frequently then previous incidents.
My traction control light will start blinking and cut my acceleration, while turning leftwhether at a complete stop or still moving and normally just on dry asphalt. I have had the vehicle into the dealership 2 times. The first time was for 1 day, and they said there was an update, this didn't fix the issue. The next time was 1 week later and they advised that it was a computer issue and will not be able to fix the issue until the beginning of the year in 2017.
When driving i slow to make a turn, when trying to accelerate during the turn the engine will not respond to the gas pedal being pressed and the traction control light flickers on the dashboard. Has happened at numerous speeds when turning. I get stuck in the middle of a turn with traffic coming at me. I have had the vehicle to the dealer twice now and they keep telling me nothing is wrong with it. Very serious safety issue. Vehicle has 7,100 miles on it.
Jeep's skid control system malfunctions. It activates in perfectly dry weather with dry pavement, as i'm accelerating. This causes the car to slow to almost a complete stop at exactly the time it should be accelerating. The skid control light blinks on the dashboard to show that it's in use. This is happening on a daily basis.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the vehicle did not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Contact stated it feels lika a loss of power, is happening on a consistent basis. The vehicle was taken to moore chrysler jeep fiat (8600 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382), but they stated there is no problem detected after 2 visits for the same issue. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 11,165.
Loss of acceleration/power when turning right or left on dry surfaces. Traction control module comes on when this happens.instrument panel flashes that the back brake lights are out and the right/left hand turn signals not working. Happens when starting vehicle and stays on until you shut off car a few times.
The windshields are made with poor quality glass.when you get a chip it spreads beyond repair in a day.i bought my vehicle brand new in nov.of 2016,in jan 2017 had the windshields replaced.got another rock chip last month and the windshield has to be replaced.i have only had this car 10 months and will be on my 3rd windshield.i have owned vehicles 32 yrs and never had to replace windshields this much.rock chips don't normally spread quickly like they do on the renegades.i thought it was just me but renegade owners all over the u.s.are experiencing the same problem.someone is gonna have to die for jeep to realize this problem.no car should need 3 windshields in 10 months.
Windshield breaks easily when a small rock hits it while driving. We had to have the windshield replaced after only having the vehicle less than amonth. We had to wait 2 months to get the windshield from the factory because there were 11 in front of us.(seems to be a problem. Why would so many windshields need to be replaced?). After replacing the windshield, in just one week, the same problem occurred. This was just driving down a regular interstate highway in st. Louis. We have had other rocks hit windshields on previous vehicles, and they often deflect off with no problem. The jeep windshield seems to be more vertical, and when a small rock hits it, it hits it dead on and cracks the windshield. I have not had the last windshield replaced yet because i do not want my insurance rates to go up by making another claim within such a short period of time. When i researched this on line, it was discovered that many people are having same problem with the windshield breaking easily when hit by a rock. This seem to be a problem not only with the renegade, but also the jeep cherokee and jeep wrangler.
The guide lines have disappeared on the reverse camera.
My jeep renegade in 3 short months has had 4 different incidents of things flying up and breaking the windshield. The first three i was simply driving on the street i live on. No construction, no loose asphalt, and no debris in road. The last incident happened when a small bird hit the windshield and completely shattered the drivers side windshield.
My windshield chipped & cracked. The strange thing is the crack is on the inside behind the rear view mirror, not on the outside of the car. Which leads me to believe it wasn't a rock or stone that hit the wind shield but there must be a defect in the glass. I called jeep & they won't acknowledge a defect unless you organization says so.i've read about other renegade owners with the same issue online and jeep won't do anything. Can you help?
My car was stationary in the parking lot at my apt and the windshield cracked on the passenger side top right to the middle by the rear view mirror. Also just recently something hit the windshield and it has a large round shattered crack. The windshield seems to crack very easily.
The contact owns a 2016 jeep renegade. The contact stated that the bolts on each wheel were corroded and expanded. The contact took the vehicle to dan welle chrysler dodge jeep ram (1505 main st s, sauk centre, mn 56378, (320) 352-5255) for new tires. In order to remove the bolts from the wheels, the mechanic had to use a different size socket and a vice grip, which took approximately three and a half hours. The mechanic informed the contact that he needed to purchase new bolts. The manufacturer was notified of the defect and stated that they were not going to issue a recall unless more customers complained about this matter. The bolts were not replaced. The failure mileage was 68,100.
The brand and model of the tires of my 2016 jeep renegade are good year eagle sport. With just 9 months of using the bus, the tires began to dent and present some holes. I contacted the customer service department of the jeep and good year. The representative of good year told me that i could not honor the defect of the tires because those tires were not made for the climate of puerto rico and that this an aesthetic defect and not insecure. Which i disagree because they can break while the car is moving.
