My vehicle was parked in front of my house. When i went to enter the vehicle, i noticed my driver side head had exploded.

Takata recall. I was involved in a accident on march 14, 2016. I was stopped at a stop sign when a suv was making a right turn to the street i was stopped waiting to make my right turn. The gentleman was speeding and took a hard right, he lost control of his vehicle and hit me full impact on the driver side. The entire driver side had to be replaced. The airbags did not inflate, the airbag lights did not turn on. At the impact that i was hit they should have gone off and no one knows or could explain why they didn't deploy. When my vehicle was repaired and i went to pick up, then the airbag lights were on and had to be reset and the seatbelt was not properly working (that had to be replaced)

Airbag light stays on all the time whether running or stationary, the problem started after battery change at dealership. Dealer says that it needs new ipm integrated power module $918 + tax??

Air bag alarm and light keeps coming on and off.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While attempting to turn into a parking lot, the contact removed her foot from the accelerator pedal to depress the brake pedal and the vehicle accelerated at rapid speed without warning. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal, but the vehicle accelerated faster. As a result, the contact crashed into a medical building and injured another person. The other person sustained bruising to the chest that required medical attention. The contact sustained an injury to the left arm that required medical attention. The air bags failed to deploy. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000.

My wife and i were hit head on by a drunk driver, we were both rendered unconsciouswhen we awoke the air bags were on fire. The vehicle was stationary

Not sure if takata inflators are involved. On thursday 1/12/2017, i was stopped on the freeway and was rear-ended by a semi truck which didn't stop going approximately 35 mph. It pushed me into the vehicle in front of me which was a car length away. The seat broke backwards, the headrest broke off completely and i hit the rear veiw mirror breaking it off. None of the 6 airbags in the vehicle deployed,

On monday 07/09/2018, while stopped on a city street was rear-ended by a truck which didn't stop going approximately 40 -50 mph. It smashed my car into the vehicle in front which was a car length away. The seat broke backwards, the center console between the seats flew off, and none of the airbags in the vehicle deployed, knees went forward into the dash.

The system that monitors whether a passenger is in the passenger seat malfunctions and causes the seatbelt to show unbuckled therefore turning the airbag off in case of an accident. This specific piece of equipment has been recalled on similar vehicles in the same year but my vin was not selected and my dealership wanted me to pay in order to fix it because it was a safety risk.

When involved in a car accident, the airbags delayed deployment.this happened on a downtown street with speed of 25 mph.the car was in motion - someone failed to yield right away and accident couldn't be avoided.

Hello . My wife was involved incar accident . She was in her 2016 jeep patriot. Which the accident was pretty big. Which caused airbags to deploy. Airbag from steering wheel didn't deploy properly and also the airbag from the dashboard on passenger side. The airbags released a lot of white powder and smoke which made her have a hard time breathing. She is in the hospital now due to the lack of help from the airbag and also inhaling the substance from the airbag

Airbag, airbag sensorairbag moduleupdated 03/16/17*lj

My malfunctioning jeep patriot experienced sudden unexpected acceleration which resulted in a totaled car,2 damaged buildings, and a fca letter stonewalling and washing their hands of. This accident came within a whisker of taking our lives. Accident happened as i descended our driveway to our house. Deep skid tire marks in gravel they chose to ignore. Their "investigation" was very very shallow. I have a detailed description of all that happened that day and police report which i can fax to you. I am a very angry and frustrated veteran i need you. Thanks.*dt*dt*jp*dt

The airbag light illuminated once in 2017. Then it went off and came back on 4 years later. On january 15, 2021 it came on about 20 times. And then all weekend. I was told by my dealer it was a sensor in the passenger seat. In this case the passenger side doesn't have a fully operational passenger side airbag. This is a huge safety concern, as someone could get hurt or possibly killed. The vehicle was in motion on all accounts on city streets.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehcile was taken to extreme dodge chrysler jeep ram (2300 seymour rd, jackson, mi 49201, (517) 783-6200) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the air bag was disabled and that the passenger headrest air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

I believe the clockspring is faulty. Air bag light on, horn not working and the step/reset button on steering wheel stopped working. Scared the air bag wont deploy if in a accident.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact veered and crashed the front passenger side of the vehicle into the rear driver side of a parked vehicle. The contact sustained a concussion, fractured nose, and a busted lip that required medical attention. The contact would need surgery in the future. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop where it was inspected and determined that the rate of deceleration necessary to engage the air bag system was not present during the collision. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.updated 04/05/17*lj

The airbag light came on about 35 times, and i went to the dealer, they told me to come back later because the light wasn't illuminated, then i was told a sensor was broken, and they couldn't fix it, so that meant i would have zero airbags that worked.

The contact owned a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over. The power steering function became inoperable and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained a minor ankle injury that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was not repaired. The contact was concerned that the failure mentioned in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling) contributed to the crash. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that the vehicle was not being driven at a speed that would facilitate the deployment of the air bags. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000. ..updated 07/31/17

My roof is leaking when it rains hard under the dome light into the light on the dashboard and is getting into the radio/navigation system. Also is leaking from the roof on the passenger side dashboard.

When i turn on car a red lighting light kept coming up on dashboard, by my gas meter. Also, it seemed like my car didn't want to speed or it would after and go low velocity. When this light turned on. I looked it up and it's the 'electronic throttle control' i seen a couple of videos on youtube and say it may be a recall from 2011-2017 jeep patriots wanted to know if it is and need to fix soon before it gets worse. Please. No money due to covid and recently looking for another job. Can't afford $1200

I was driving on a city street around 2:30 pm when i notice smoke coming out from under my hood. I pulled off to a safe spot and by this time ii could see the fire coming out of the front of my jeep. Three fire inspectors looked at it and are unable to determine the cause of the fire. However, a jeep mechanic also looked at it and believes the fire started behind the battery. The jeep is totaled. Still waiting on reports from the insurance company. Cynthiai just wanted to give you an update.we did hire some people who went out and also were not able to fully determine the fire. I am having a hard time getting in contact with chrysler. I will keep trying and let you know what they tell me.depending on what they tell me we might move forward with more investigation. I will keep you updated. From progressive claim #161737586 agent amy etta ph. 503-495-4507

My vehicle stalls when you push the gas pedal, you have to turn the vehicle off and restart it ,it will also completely stall going down the road going anywhere between 20 to 45 miles per hour

230am on interstate 25, no road lighting, no traffic nearby.by ourselves, four of us on the way to the airport. Set cruise control to 75mph. Seconds later all lights including dashboard went out. In total dark ness. Guessed side of road. Managed to stop car. Turned off, back on, all restored. We actually grazed an overpass which i have attached photos. We four came near death. Scared to drive car. Just had "patch" work done at nearby dealership to repair abs and traction lightss that were on. Please advise.

On 4/12/17 at approximately 5:30 pmi was driving my jeep of 11,000 miles on it. Still a new car.it started running as if loosing power. I pulled off of highway to see what was happening.i pulled hood release it did not open.i looked under jeep to attempt to get hood open as an police officer pulled up beside car to see if i was ok. As he began to ask this and i turned to reply. Car burst into flames. Officer attempted to use fire extinguisher but it did not help and by the time fire department arrived it was a total loss.fire raged so hot it melted the front seat head rests and the entire front of jeep is gone. Perhaps by pulling over is the only reason i am still alive. I have a lot of documents and pictures. In these documents i have word for word of chrysler jeep refusing to do an investigation on why this car burned..

Heating core went out; leaked water at 220f onto bare foot while driving.just had part replaced; part is extremely flimsy.

I have a code p0335 crankshaft position sensor a circuit . On my car and it was a recall on it , but my car's vin says it's not ! it won't crank

When driving over 30-35 mph the vehical struggles to accelerate and down shifts itself to lower geers not allowing the vehicale to go. Even pushing in the gas pedal doesn't work to bring the vehicale back up to speed. Engine light is on2 lightening strick lights appearstread light comes oncode u1407(1/4) storedac nor heater nurt

I was stopped at a red light after exiting the interstate. The light turned green, i pressed the gas and the car accelerated for a few seconds and the. The wheels quit spinning and the engine light lit up on the dash. I was in the road nearly being missed by other cars and i was only able to get my car out of the road by turning of the car and cranking it back to move a few feet repeatedly until i reached a side road. I had the car towed to a highly rated repair shop and was told an electrical part inside the cvt transmission had failed, this was not due to failure to maintain the vehicle, and this was a design flaw within the cvt transmission. The repair is estimated to be $5194.28. Estimate is attached.

If the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. Was told it was a defect. March 2018gasket needed to be replaced. Again was told it was a defect. Both times had to pay a hundred dollars deducted

When starting the vehicle there is a delay in starting then when while driving down the road the vehicle jerks or stalls like it is going to die. Acceleration and deceleration do not seem to make it stop or fix the issue. Occasionally when going up hill the vehicle will hit 4rpm like it is unable to shift and neither acceleration or deceleration fix the issue even after the vehicle is no longer climbing the hill.there are no check engine lights on and no codes to be read. I have tried gas treatment and taken it to the dealership and 2 mechanics and no one knows why it is doing it or how to stop it.

Water in front dome light suddenly after several months. Dripping down dashboard and cause electrical problems. Stationary vehicle with no leaks in sunroof bought 01/2020. 08/2020 first occurrence, damage to lights on ac and heat controls. Less than 2500 miles driven since bought at a dealership no disclosure at time of purchase.

Driving on the interstate at 75mph when my wife had a red lighting bolt appear on the dash board, at which time the power dropped off. She had to move across two lanes of traffic with no power.once it was on the shoulder, she called me in a panic.i went on the internet and found out how to reset the throttle body assembly.the vehicle started back up and was able to drive it home.it was a very dangerous and scary experience.i called jeep dealership and to my surprise they was no recall for this issue.the internet was full of people who had this very issue.i call their corporate service line and they confirmed no safety recall exists.they told me they could not confirm whether they would or would not self report this issue.

I am driving the jeep is on the highway, doing 60 mph one week after i had bought the jeep in may 2016 and it automatically started going faster on it's own, with the rpm indicator going clockwise. It would not slow down on its own so i had to drive to the access road and put emergency brake on. Once i was able to start the vehicle again it reset itself and performed normally. This has occurred 5 times since i have owned it, including july 25, 2018 when it happened again last week. Last year i had it checked and was told a sensor light was out, so they "fixed" it. It is still happening. The dashboard indicators are constantly flashing. They told me they reset them also. It is still occurring, also

The car stalls while driving it down the road at more then 20mph and it's very dangerous because it does it with no light or any indication that something is wrong. I believe it's completely electrical but i'm taking it in to the mechanics tomorrow. I was driving down a highway when it stalled on me thankfully i was on the slow lane and was able to pull to the side but not before someone almost rear ending me.

Just got the jeep but did not take home for three days after the sale.the wire harness was bad on the jeep? so far no problems so far after we got it home! its the 75 anniversary edition real nice.love it. Have own 2patritots before this one. And no problems with them.

Warning light kept coming on for "low tire" while driving on city street, highway and interstate. Had this checked repeatedly at dealer, the low tire light would go off then come on again later. The day after takingthe patriot in for the low "tire light" the esc/abs lights also started coming on. I have just over 50,000 miles so the warranty is over. I was told that in addition to the $115 for doing a diagnostic to see why the lights were on it would be $350 extra plus labor to replace the sensor. I was unable to pay for this at this time.i was told that it would be okay to drive it but the lights would stay on until replaced. Online i see that there are over 18 other complaints for the same reason.the sensor got some type of moisture and was shorting out. Mine continues to be on for 30 minutes then go out, or not come on at all, or not on then comes on. Either there is an issue with connection or this is just a bad product.with all of the complaints for this same scenario - i am afraid that there is a water leak or the sensor does not have protection from water.either way, i feel that this is a hazard to anyone driving a jeep patriot. Others have reported smoke, fires, etc.this needs to be addressed by the dealer and corrected free of charge. I loved my patriot until this happened.i will be driving on the interstate this weekend, which is why i tried to have the lights/sensors checked out monday. I leave tomorrow and hope and pray i do not have a fire/accident to report on monday.this is a valid safety concern and should be addressed.online other reports also state that sometimes you lose acceleration and stall because of the sensor. Please check this out before someone is seriously hurt.

In july 2020, i was driving, and my engine light came on.went to jeep, in reno, nv, which diagnosed it as a camshaft sensor error; it would need to be repaired but not critical.tech reset sensor, and said if it comes on again, we should set a date for repair.on sept 3, 6:40pm, driving on the highway, coming out of an interchange, my car shut down!everything. Luckily, close enough, i coasted off to the right and took the first exit, braked hard, and came to stop.couldn't restart. Ordered a tow.ten min later, tried again, the car started, and drove it 3 miles home @ 25 mph.hit 30mph, it kinda 'chunked', and i went back to 24-25mph.sept 4, i took to lithia jeep, again. Left it with them. They called me later, and said it was the crankshaft sensor, and would need to be replaced.total cost: $700. They kept it over the labor day weekend, and will fix & return, sept 8, 2020.i googled the issue; discovered a recall for jeep patriot's manufactured may-july 2016.today, sept 7, contacted the chrysler recall dept, regarding the s89 recall, learned my vehicle was manufactured jan 15, 2016, and not included in the recall s89.my vehicle, same make/model, with the exact same issues as in the recall.the agent said i have to get the dealer to acknowledge the issue is the same as the recall; then request a review by the jeep dealer's regional supervisor, who, if approves, allows me to submit paperwork, to request chrysler pay all bills related to issue, back to the july 2020 camshaft sensor issue, up to and including the repair of both the camshaft sensor, and the crankshaft sensor.this seems like a lot of footwork for me, let alone all the paperwork to submit for, hopefully, payment after the fact, for work related to a recall.can you step in and help?can you add more vehicles manufacture dates to the recall, to include mine?

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While the contact was attempting to start the vehicle, smoke appeared underneath the hood. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the failure was due to the wiring that traveled to the fuse box, leading to the crankshaft. The failure could cause a possible fire. Spitzer chrysler dodge jeep ram cleveland (13001 brookpark rd, brook park, oh 44142, (216) 356-5745) stated that the warranty had expired and the repair would cost $2,800. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 73,800.

Car cuts off (engine stall) after starting & driving!first it was hard to start, then it would cut off after starting or putting into drive, finally it cut off on me while driving in the middle of the street (had to be towed)!thank god, i wasn't on a main highway!before the complete shut down, auto zone ran a check on my vehicle for me, showing battery & alternator were fine, but found that the sensor (crankshaft or camshaft) was the problem, with car cutting off! nhtsa shows this to be a problem (vehicle stalling,) with the 2016 jeep patriot, but my vin is not listed. I spoke with my dealer, they acknowledged that was a known problem but not on my vin#, & that i would need to pay for a diagnostic from them, to prove that is what wrong (can accept information from auto zone)!i am unable to use my vehicle, because of this problem, if this is a known problem with the jeep patriot by the dealer & nhtsa, why isn't my vin# not on the list??

It acts like itā€™s going to stall. It bucks and sputter anytime i accelerate from a stopped position.

I believe my vehicle should be repaired at the expense of the manufacturer as the symptoms i'm experiencing are identical to the issues addressed in tsb: nhtsa16v907000 from 2016/12/16 crankshaft sensor may fail causing engine stall.apparently, my vin# was not included in the initial recall, yet my 2016 jeep patriot is demonstrating the exact problems cited in the initial recall.my symptoms include intermittent triggering of the vehicle to enter limp mode resulting in loss of ability to accelerate and drastic reduction of engine output power.electronic throttle control light illuminates, sporadically.engine idles roughly and/or at low rpms sporadically.cycling the vehicle off and back on will sometimes result in the a return to normal vehicle performance, only to have the same issue resurface the next day.the crankshaft position sensor and its wiring harness, the intake camshaft position sensor, exhaust camshaft position sensor its wiring harness and electrical connectors and throttle body should all be replaced.in addition, the necessary computer reset/reprogramming should be performed as well.

The totally integrated power module failed at 49k miles. Basically the computer doesn't work. The vehicle will loos momentum and deceleration happens often. The wipers just come on by themselves. Car is in drive when deceleration happened.

The unsealed main relay box is positioned directly below the lead-acid battery which leaks directly onto the cover, enters the relay box and destroys the leg and wiring connected to the automatic shutdown relay. This can occur both as the vehicle is operating or cause a no-crank/no-start situation, immobilizing the vehicle. In our case, the first time it occurred was in a parking lot but the issue is well documented on the internet and there are myriad youtube videos on the issue for many jeep and fca vehicles. This is enough of a known issue that fca has not addressed for many years now and we just paid $460.00 for the dealer to move the affected relay from the box to a less vulnerable location. It occurred a few times before the wiring failed completely, and in our case was in a stationary condition each time fortunately.

Vehicle constantly stalls while driving. Even happens when i'm driving on interste and speeds of 70 mph. Vehicle eventually starts back up but this is a huge safety issue. Had the codes ran and came back with an issue with the crankshaft positioning sensor.

Both while driving, andwhile sitting .vehicle experienced many electrical problems due to slow tipm failure. Over the course of six months. Countless hours and lots of money on diagnostics. And fixing individual components for the problems that were happening. Car was hesitating, bucking, and sporadic idle. Also radio and bluetooth connectability started to glitch. Certain lights would not work. All of these problems were handled individually for the components that normally makes them happen. Only temporarily fixing the problem. The final problem was the cooling fans staying on even when the car was shut off. Checked all involved circuitry. Everything was fine including relays. Finally settled on the tipm being bad. Jeep then tried to gouge me on the price. Ultimately wanting to charge about $1,600 for the diagnosis and fix. Including $700 just for the part. I located a new oem parts through a third party for $250. And a simple plug-and-play install, corrected all problems with vehicle. Dealership then tried to say the part needed to be programmed. So they could charge $200 for a service that is completely unnecessary. If you get the right tipm for the exact model and options. A soft reset can be done by simply using the ignition key. It is very poor business practice by chrysler corporation. And they are taking advantage of many unsuspecting customers. Often paying upwards of over $4,000 in one year for misdiagnosed and overpriced services.

Same exact issue as safety recall s89 / nhtsa 16v-907 stallles arriving and won't restart

I purchased a used 2016 jeep patriot latitude 11 months ago it only had 32,000 when i bought it less than a month later i started having weird issues with my jeep dying while driving or wind shield wipers coming on by themselves as well as my a/c going off and on and my head lights flickering off and on...took it to the dealer and it was a faulty tipm they replaced it with "supposedly a new one" under warranty and now less than 9 months later started having the same issues again!

I bought my 2016 jeep patriot new. It has 20,000 miles. The abs and traction control light is on. Cruise control stopped working. Windshield wipers make popping noise when on. When at a stop the engine makes a rattling sound. When acceleration it makes a weird noise and takes forever to get it to the speed of 60mph. I can't get my car in for repair until june 14, 2016. Everything that went wrong happened at the same time except the windshield wipers. I smell a lemon in the bunch here!!!

There is a leak somewhere that floods water through the map lights in the roof every time it rains. It has shorted out the entire radio screen where it no longer functions. Took into a dealership to take a look and they said it was fixed 2 times and still continued to leak. I have forums online that hundreds of people have the same exact issue! i will proceed with filing lemon law if this does not get addressed.

Going down the highway attempting to accelerate the car will lose power, the red lightning bolt will flash. Then within seconds the light will cut off the car will gain power and will accelerate.

I was driving on a 4-lane highway in the passing lane.these indicator warning lights came on:electronic throttle control, engine, traction control. The car started bucking and slowed down.i was able to move into the non-passing lane and pull into a strip mall parking lot.i shut the car off.i left it off for a couple of minutes.when i turned it back on, all indicator lights were off except for the engine light.i turned the car on and off two more times.the second time, th engine light came back on again.the third time, no lights came on.i drove the car to a repair shop.on the way there, the engine throttle control light came on again and the car started bucking.after approximately one minute, the indicator light went off and the car stopped bucking.i made it to the repair shop without further problems.at the repair shop, they ran diagnostics on the vehicle.they found no current codes but found old codes relating to the electronic throttle control.they stated that without a current code, they could not help me and asked me to pick up the car.they said the next time it happens, i should take the vehicle to a dealership because the problem could be caused by a multitude of items and finding the cause would be a trial and error project.

Started jeep and all three lights presented on the panel (electronic throttle, electronic stability control, malfunction indicator light).attempt to drive and would not move past 2krpm and commenced "stuttering" and then stalled.had car towed to mechanic (mpg automotive and fernie's auto) to confirm failures.

My vehicle out of nowhere no lights or warnings came on it simply shut off no power couldn't even unlock my doors. Was unable to start again. I jumped it and it started within 10seconds of driving it i thought it died again and realized was still running but it was like i was not pressing the gas rpms were up but no speed when i put in park vehicle motor seemed to be struggling and my check engine light came on. Luckily all of this happened while on a small road . Got it home spoke to mechanic he informed me of recall s89 and immediately said it was electrical or computer possibly i reached out to chrysler and they instructed me to take to dealership to submit my vin for recall i contacted dealership they essentially told me no we don't do that. This was out of nowhere with no warning i did try to start vehicle a few minutes later it started up.

I was driving on a road into work at no more than 40/45 mph. My car was at a slight incline when the electronic throttle control light and electronic stability control light came on, and my car powered down to a low level and wouldn't increase its speed. I pulled over to the side of the road, put the car in park and shut it off. I was able to start the car and drive the rest of the way, and the light didn't come back on again.

They randomly unbuckle! you think you're buckled and you move or adjust while driving then then bam unbuckled. You're going to die in a head on collision.*dt *dtconsumer stated defective seatbelt was replaced. While driving and sitting vehicle experience many electrical problems due to slow tipm failure, engine stalls etc.

The cruise control accelerates after being set. Interior dome lights fill with water when it rains.engine sputters as if not getting enough gas.head lights will turn off while driving at night when blinkers or wipers are turned on, even after having had new wiring put in, new lights, and fuses changed. Car does not shift as it should, and is getting 160 miles per full tank of gas.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the tire pressure monitor warning indicator continued to illuminate. Also, the horn became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five times, but they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,600.

My car shuts down while driving.the stability light goes on and the engine dies while on the road

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and an unknown diagnostic trouble code kept flashing. There was also a loss of electrical power and the instrument panel and radio shorted out. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer (anchorage chrysler dodge jeep ram, 2601 e 5th ave, anchorage, ak 99501, 1-(907) 276-1331) more than five times where the battery and oem radio were replaced, but the failures recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

While driving the car runs rough. I've scanned the car and no codes come up. I was driving and the etc light flashed and it felt like the time went out. I was afraid that my car went out of time. While driving and shifting the transmission sometimes slips out of gear prematurely. I was driving straight when all of these problems happened.

Driving down highway vehicle had sudden loss of all power. Headlamps flickered and everything shut off. Unable to put hazard lights on or use horn to warn oncoming traffic.

Tried taking my siblings to school and out of no where it wouldn't start i've had no problems since i've had the vehicle and i took it to several places and they couldn't figure out the problem then finally someone figured it out saying it's the computer module

2016 patriot with,54,000 miles. No major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, i was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. When accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. The jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. If i'm lucky i'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). Through google research, i came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). Doing this typically clears the icons and i'm able to travel again. This intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway.when driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. If i let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal.i took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. The battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. Through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. There appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. As easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. Nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.

The vehicle stalled while driving. Lost steering capabilities and had a hard time pulling over. Had to turn key completely off and wait a couple minutes and it turned back on. I was on a busy city street.

The engine shut down while driving on a city street. Was able to push the car to the side of the road. Put a code reader on and got po339 code, crankshaft position sensor intermittent. Reset the code and car started and i drove home.

Went through car wash, water came pouring in through dome light, raining on radio. Took to the dealership who said the drain lines are too small and often need to be unclogged. They offer no explanation of the potential electrical hazard or the rotting effects of water left unseen in the roof linings. I googled the issue and found the history of this poor design goes back to 2008. The dealer told me they have not been recalled and can only unclog/blow out the drain tubes during my routine oil changes...this needs to be addressed as a potential electrical safety hazard. I am leasing the vehicle but may need to switch out. This is an acknowledged manufacturers defect that they are apparently ignoring to the consumers risk of electrical fire, and or rotting accessories causing potential severe devaluation in trade in / sale potential as well as actual cash value in insurance appraisals.

I am a service contract administrator. I recently received a claim where the contract holders vehicle would stall. The shop stated a recall had been performed by auto nation chrysler dodge jeep in littleton , co. ( 7980 w tufts ave , littleton , co 80123 ) ( 303-578-6099 ) i called over , gave them the vin , and asked for documentation on the repair. The shop said they would send it over. In the meantime i had the shop the vehicle was currently at send me pictures of the wiring. The repair was poorly done , and auto nation is refusing to rectify their poor workmanship. The service advisor in questions name is scott. He would not return phone calls , and never sent over the requested documentation. My company will take care of the customers repairs. Attached are the pictures of the poor repair. My purpose here is to report poor workmanship , and let you know this dealership is not repairing vehicles to either manufacturer , or federal standards.

The car is engaging the traction control for no reason at a speed of 20 mph attempting to slow down vehicle the car is applying breaks no snow no rain on a dry asphalt road

I was driving down the road and barely touched the shifter and when i touch the shifter it slipped over into where you shift your gears i feel like it's a could catch the car on fire because it is revved up so high and you don't even realize it because you cant hear it unless you you got radio off and windows up andyou can never tell i definitely think they should have made it more safe when from some kind of a lock on the shifter for when you want to go over into where you shift the gears yourself not to mention how expensive cars are and that you could very easily tear up your car by it being in the manual shifting area rather than the automatic shift

While driving, the check engine light, the electronic throttle sensor light and the abs light came on. As a result, the engine loses power, the transmission is choppy and i cant drive faster than 20-30 miles per hour. If i turn the car off and restart, the sensor light and abs light goes off, the check engine light stays on and the car runs normal. After five minutes, the aforementioned lights come back on and the engine returns to its subnormal running conditions. There is no specific explanation for this problem and according to jeep's forums, it is a common problem among all jeep models.

Everytime i push the pedal to speed the car stall very bad causing to slow or almost stop . Very danger situation. Always happen when going to a highway or anywhere i m trying to increase speed.

Jeep in motion, engine stalls at varies speeds multiple times in a row. Headed straight or turning, had to call tow truck but after 20 minutes i tried to turn over my jeep and it started.this happened 3 different times before arriving home.kept call center rep. On phone until i was 2 miles away from my home. 1 time jeep paused like not getting gas then i pressed the pedal and it accelerated (all right in the middle of intersection) then drove the remaining mile and a 1/4 home while on phone with husband.advance auto told me possible fuel issue, i added lucas fuel system cleaner.now looking at recalls online and reading about camshaft or crankshaft sensor.miles on jeep 41688.

Vehicle throttle control lights comes onwhen car is in motion which will then slow down the vehicle which can cause an accident that you can no longer control the steering wheel. When that light comes one the engine light and traction control lights come on as well. When on the highway car will lose acceleration which again you can't pull over it will just stop. This is very dangerous and can cause death.i have read so many more of the same complaints something needs to be done about this.

My vehicle stalls when you push the gas pedal, you have to turn the vehicle off and restart it ,it will also completely stall going down the road going anywhere between 20 to 45 miles per hour

My car just stopped working in the middle of the highway while driving 55 mph!!. It just died. Luckily 3 strangers pushed me to safety. It started working soon afterward only to get stuck in the middle of the road again. It was towed to my mechanic and diagnosed that the crankpostition sensor is bad. It is recalled on other 2016 jeep patriots but not covered on this one. It was manufactured before the recall. I hope you will consider including this car under the recall. My daughter was driving the car and she could have been seriously injured. The abrupt stopping of this vehicle on a highway is a serious safety hazard. I am so thankful that she was not injured but it could have been so much worse. We had no idea what was wrong with the car and am upset to know that this faulty sensor caused this to happen. It should be recalled to prevent possible injury to others.

Traveling 95 north with cruise control on traveling 73 mph. After about 15 minutes the engine raced as if i were trying to increase my speed. The vehicle surpassed 80 mph. I had to stomp on the break to disengage the cruse control.

My car shuts down while driving.the stability light goes on and the engine dies while on the road

My car doesn't accelerate like it should and getting on the highway or trying to speed up on highway, the car stalls and doesn't want to go. The rpm doesn't go anywhere and the car jerks a lot. It happening more everyday than before when it would only happen ever so often.

Multiple warning lights indicate the vehicle routinely lost contact with anti-lock brake module, wheel distance, and speed while both stationary and in motion.

Was driving the vehicle about 55 miles an hour, when it suddenly lost power. Was able to safely pull over, restart, and continue to my location after a few minutes.when researching the issue it was discovered that the 2016 jeep patriot has a recall with the 'crankshaft or camshaft sensor may only work intermittently, causing the engine to stall. If the engine stalls, there is an increased the risk of a crash.' nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 the dates for that recall are may 9, 2016, to july 15, 2016. The vehicle in question was manufactured in 12/15, which is not included. Called a local dealer, but had no faith that the issue was going to be easily discoverable and or fixed after informing them of the issue. Went to another company who ran a diagnostics service.immediately finding issues with the camshaft sensor & crankshaft sensor. Had the vehicle repaired and back within two days.believe the current recall should also include my vehicle manufactured date, because it has the exact same issues.

The contact's daughter owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While the contact's daughter was driving 40 mph, the vehicle seized in the middle of the road. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The driver pulled over to the side of the road and waited two to three minutes before restarting the vehicle; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was towed to aventura chrysler jeep dodge ram (16050 west dicky highway north, miami beach, fl 33160, 305-493-5000) where it was diagnosed that the power train control module and crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,538.

The vehicle stalled sitting still. When i cranked the jeep it would not turn over. As i turned the ignition key it just kept on cranking with out me holding the key.

My daughter has a 2016 jeep patriot is just stalling out exactly the way the recall states except because hers was built in november they are saying its not on the recall...she will be driving and it just stalls and has happened over and over

My car shuts down while driving.the stability light goes on and the engine dies while on the road

I have a recall on my vehicle. I keep getting notices via email and regular mail that i need to schedule an appointment to get this recall fixed. Every time i call the dealer to get it fixed, i'm told that they don't have parts and don't know when they'll be in. They say they will give me a call when the parts come in, then i never hear back from them.

The engine shut down while driving on a city street. Was able to push the car to the side of the road. Put a code reader on and got po339 code, crankshaft position sensor intermittent. Reset the code and car started and i drove home.

My car was parked at home in parking lot. I used car earlier during the morning and had no problems with it. During the afternoon i went outside to crank car and it started with no problems. I then realized i forgot something in my home and turned car off took key out the ignition and went to retrieve what i had forgotten. I came back out not even 30 seconds, attempted to crank car and the dash board lights, ac came on, but car would not crank. It made no noise to indicate it was trying to turn over nothing. After trying a few times i called geico to have someone come out to possibly jump start the car, but that person tested the battery, oil, alternator, and started and said none of them were a problem. I then ordered a tow truck thru geico, he arrived about an hour later and he immediately sat in vehicle and car cranked with no problems. The engine light on dash also disappeared. The next day i took the vehicle to have it checked again and i have a print out that shows that neither the battery, starter, alternator or engine oil were a factor. I haven't had any other issues with the car cranking since that day. No one seems to know why it would not start.

While driving the engine stalls, essentially cutting my power steering and have little control over vehicle. Happens on freeway and in city streets and stop lights

This is an ongoing problem. The engine stalls randomly while driving. It is very unsafe. We have taken it to the dealer several times and they said they were unable to duplicate the problem.the first time we took it to the dealer. They said they couldn't find the problem because there weren't any computer codes. We took the car back home and the problem still occurred. We brought it back to the dealer and paid for them to do the work for the s89 recall even though our vin isn't covered. I don't know why the recall just covers the wire harness and not the crankshaft sensor itself. We got the jeep back. The problem still occurred. I took it back to the dealer and the third time they replaced the fuel pump and the throttle body assembly. We had to pay for the repairs because at approx.42,000 miles it was out of warranty which is only 36,000 miles. We got the jeep back. Not fixed. The jeep has stalled at traffic lights and stop signs and also upon turning. We have also stalled going 60 mph on the highway and barely had time to pull off the road. Most of the time, the engine will restart right away, but sometimes you have to wait several minutes. The jeep is back at the dealer. We had called chrysler and gotten a case manager. We got a call from him yesterday that the dealer service dept. Still had not found the problem. He was going to check with them again tomorrow. It is unsafe to drive in this condition and we don't know why the problem isn't being fixed.

It acts like itā€™s going to stall. It bucks and sputter anytime i accelerate from a stopped position.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle jerked and the steering wheel was unbearable to steer. The contact stated that excessive strength was needed to steer the vehicle. Once the vehicle gained speed, it became easier to operate. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,555.

Replaced the throttle body as vehicle lost power. Mechanic said he has replaced over 10-12 of them recently and there will probably a recall. Part and labor was $500.my granddaughter is in college and we purchased vehicle as it was supposedly dependable transportation. She was able to pull into a parking lot before the vehicle lost power.

When my car first started having problems it shut off when at a drive through. Then it started happening on the highway when i slow down to make a turn or stop at a traffic light with no warning light just shut off. Then it began shutting off just during normal short driving. I would be going 40-60 on the freeway and the steering wheel would lock up & my car would start shutting off. I was still able to engage the brake, safely move my car to the shoulder, put it on park, then restart it, then proceeded on my mission.this past week it started dying when i was in bumper to bumper traffic but this time only the tire yellow warning light came on & the steering wheel locked up & i tried to step on the brake pedal but the jeep continued to roll until it decided to stop on its own.fortunately, i was able to move it to the shoulder of the freeway while the jeep was still moving. Once my jeep was safely on the shoulder i put it on park then turned the ignition off and then turned it back on & would keep going like normal. On monday, april 5, 2021, i was parked at work & when i tried to leave for home i turned my jeep on and it stalled immediately, so i turn the ignition off & back on but it started to shake and very choppy but it never actually started so i had it towed home because i strongly felt my personal "life safety" compromised and felt very insecure driving it on the freeway.these incidents happened several times throughout the last 1&1/2 years.

This is the second time the catalyst system efficiency bank 1 issue

I purchased this vehicle 2 and a half weeks ago and it has been back to the dealer 4 times because of the check engine light. The first time they stated it was a sensor for the breaks. Second, time they stated, for the same thing a brake sensor. Third, time they said the sensor was bad. Now for the fourth time they are saying it's a module. No, it's time for a new truck a 2016 jeep should not have the engine light come on at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's time to be in the process to file the lemon law because the car has been back up their four times maybe even more for the check engine light.

When driving the engine will stall/stop without warning. With it going staright or turning it does not matter. You have to completely stop the vehicle and then restart the engine. This has happened on a number of occasions

Car shuts off and loses power at various speeds 1-65 miles per hour.when it loses power the power steering goes out and you better pull over fast or you wont be able to move the vehicle until you can get it to start back up.sometimes it takes a while to start back up.this has been happening to me for 5 months now'. I've taken to the dealership 2 times and they keep telling me nothing is wrong... I never got notified of any recalls and they didnt even investigate to see if there was a recall on my jeep patriot the two times i've had it in.i am now having it towed to the dealership because it will not drive more than a few feet with constant shut down.it is dangerous.this happens at all speeds, up hill, down hill, flat, etc.

The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed, but no failure code was found. The technician informed the contact that the repair was remedied by the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact to have the vehicle towed to the dealer if the failure should recur. The manufacturer provided case number: 71595328. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The vin was invalid.

While driving the car it shuts off.waited a few minutes and came back on.drove 2 times (one time on a highway, next on a country road) less than 20 minutes when it turns off.took it in for repair and they are replacing a throttle body sensor that is not working after 46,000 plus miles.

Driving down the road my jeep will just stall and put me in a dangerous situation. No warnings with any dash lights.

The vehicle has consistent fuel injection issues which cause the car to stutter when accelerating up hills. I took the vehicle to the dealership twice and they said they could not find problem. Now that it is out of warranty the problem is persistent and there is an engine fault

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the engine warning light remained illuminated and the vehicle swerved to the left while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 2,928.

Vehicle is stalling without warning at low or high speeds, with loss of brake assist and steering assist. Multiple visits to dealer have not solved the problem as dealer claims he can not duplicate. In several of the stalling incidents, a critically hazardous condition was created.stall has occurred both in straight line travel and in turns at intersections.

Engine idles rough.check engine, traction and throttle control waning light came on.car sputtered and would not go over 30mph. Would almost stall when accelerating from a stop. Took to nearest dealership and was told the throttle body needed to be replaced.picked up the car to take to my mechanic but the lights never came back on.have driven roughly 100 miles since.car still runs rough and has for about a year.

When accelerating my engine seems to bog down and stall very frequently. This had almost caused what could of been a serious accident. Once i was turning in a 4 way intersection and it stalled when car yielding to me was approaching me in intersection almost causing a t bone type crash and the other times was on the highway while accelerating the engine stalled each time causing what could of potentially been a life threatening accident. I was extremely close to being hit by a semi once, a truck pulling a trailer once and multiple cars on different occasions.

When driving on the highway, my jeep instantly turned off with no indication that there was something wrong; no indication of lights or warning issues presented just a loss of complete power. Brakes were hard to push and the power steering was lost as well making it very difficult to control while the car slowed down from going 50 mph. I was luckily in the far right lane when it happened making it easier to pull off to safety for myself and for everyone else behind me. Once stopped, i turned the car back on and all it did was make a sputtering like noise, but never turned on. I waited 5 minutes and tried to start it again and the car turned on this time, but roughly 30 seconds later it just turned off again with no warning. I found a recall on the crankshaft sensor which causes the engine to stall, but when entering my vin it shows that there is no recall on my car's vin. This recall needs to be opened up for other vin's. The recall with chrysler is s89. This is a huge safety issue!

' takata recall' while driving my 2016 jeep patriot in motion on a city street , my engine shut off and i got several lights on my dash . After putting in park the vehicle restarted , but i have a 4 year old son and i dont feel safe driving on the freeway and not knowing if my vehicle is going to stop suddenly in traffic .

While driving, rpms would drop to 0 and vehicle would not accelerate. Vehicle would lose power steering and lights dimmed but battery and alternator were working fine. Engine code history showed an error for the crankshaft ignition sensor and throttle body.

Vehicle constantly stalls while driving. Even happens when i'm driving on interste and speeds of 70 mph. Vehicle eventually starts back up but this is a huge safety issue. Had the codes ran and came back with an issue with the crankshaft positioning sensor.

Bought jeep in 2018 since then it has had intermittent cruise control problems. Sometimes it works sometimes it dont. Sometimes it works then quits working. Drivers seat belt will be buckled and come unbuckled have to rebuckle intermittently. Burning smell intermittently dont know if its oil, coolant or what was supposed to be fixed by jeep who said it was leaky coolant still occurs.all of this has occurred while on the road.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled as the temperature warning light intermittently flashed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that after allowing the vehicle to remain stationary for a few minutes, the vehicle was restarted and resumed normal operation. The contact took the vehicle to bayird dodge chrysler jeep ram of malden (2774 n douglass st, malden, mo 63863) where a tune up was performed however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Engine will not start unless i press on the brake and put the car in drive, then back in park. It does this everyday.

The vehicle stalled while driving. Lost steering capabilities and had a hard time pulling over. Had to turn key completely off and wait a couple minutes and it turned back on. I was on a busy city street.

A recall has been issued on 2016 jeep patriots that are vin specific (recall s89). However even though our vehicle was included in the manufacturing dates portion of the recall, it was not included in the vin specific portion. The vehicle is doing the exact things that are included in the recall - it constantly stalls while driving on the interstate or in town. Shutting down the engine totally and then making it where the power steering and brakes do not function and is an extreme dangerous situation for a female driver to try and control and restart the vehicle without getting in an accident. I feel that my vehicle should be included in this recall and that jeep should repair my vehicle free of charge. I would hate for someone to get injured for not including this vehicle in a recall that is only vin specific.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While idling at a red light, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred at least twelve times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft switch failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,917.

The engine light was on. When trying to drive the vehicle it would have a hard start and the vehicle would shake and loose power.

The engine feels like it is stalling.

While driving home from work on the interstate yesterday at about 60mph, my jeep suddenly loss power and started shaking. It wouldn't accelerate at all. I had to quickly put my flashers on as to not cause an accident while i tried to pull into the emergency shoulder. I turned the car off for a few minutes then restarted it to drive home.

Vehicle loses power and ability to accelerate.this occured while driving on the interstate at 65 mph.thankfully, i was able to get vehicle to side of road.restarted and as driving home, vehicle tries to accelarate itself while car is idling.had i not had my foot firmly on brake, it would have taken off. Took in for repairs and dealer states that throttle body is bad and this is a common problem on these vehicles.advised that it was dangerous to drive as vehicle can lose power without warning.

Tamara recall - i purchased my 2016 jeep patriot in march of 2018 and after the purchase i noticed that the car did not have any pick and go and also at time it feel like the car is going to just stop when i am driving it. I have had it looked at but was told that nothing could be found. There is something wrong with this carm

My 2016 jeep patriot was purchased on january 29, 2016. This vehicle has been nothing more then a death trap for me and a cash cow for the dealership. I have had major life or death problems almost with this vehicle. This vehicle began stalling out and shutting off while driving down busy interstate or other roadways in 2017. My vehicle is currently at the dealership due to stalling out and shutting off in the middle of a busy highway on june 29, 2019 after i left my job. I have filed a complaint with the consumer protection division and i expressed the dangers and the government hasn't stopped in to intervene as of today. I notified chrysler manufacturer of the problem in 2017, when my vehicle only had 50,000 miles. Once again there wasn't anything done concerning this situation. I notified the nhtsa and this organization hasn't done anything but post my complaint online. This is my second complaint with nhtsa. There has been several recalls on this matter but chrysler claimed that my vintage number wasn't part of the recall. Although my 2016 jeep patriot was doing the exact same thing as the other 2016 jeep patriot, that was stalling out and shutting off in the middle of the highway. This death trap of a vehicle should have been recalled when i first initially filed this complaint. Well i guess i'll just watch and see how many people have to lose their lives behind these garbage jeep patriots before they recall these death traps. I will definitely look into filing a lawsuit against chrysler and name all of the agencies that was made aware of this deadly problem. And they done absolutely nothing concerning this matter. I contacted the manufacturer once again this morning. And i have been assigned another case manager and so i'll wait on this phone call after 8:00a.m. Today. I can provide all documentations of the complaints filed.

I was coming out of a stop getting ready to get into the turning lane for the interstate ramp and when i pressed the gas the car barely moved but the rpm shot up and was revving. Came to a full stop and put car in park and it made a very loud noise. Put back in drive and seemed to be normal.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. On several occasions the vehicle was manually pushed or coasted out of the roadway. The contact stated that after sitting for approximately 30 minutes, the vehicle would restart. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. An authorized dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

While driving g engine stalls and can not accelerate, red light w light bolt flashes while car stalls, usually for 10 seconds, then recovers. It happens more and more often. Happens on both freeway and street driving, 60mph and 35mph first time happened about three weeks ago

For several months it has been increasingly hard to keep my vehicle running/in motion when going up steep hills or gradients on all roadways. I took it to a mechanic. He replaced the alternator. The problem continues to get worse. The vehicle can be driven. Sometimes i can ease my foot off the accelerator or restart and the warning light will go off and not come back on. Now the warning lights have started flashing.sometimes the vehicle starts shaking as though its going to quit running. I have been pulling off the road, turning on flashers and turning off the engine. After a minute i restart the engine and hopefully move on down the road. It's so bad now i'm afraid to drive but it's the only transport we have. I had a diagnostic done and was told it was a camshaft sensor. L looked this up to find out more about it. I found a website that said there was a crankshaft/camshaft recall on the make, model, and and year of my vehicle. The description of the problem the recalled vehicles were having was the same as mine. So i called my dealership service department to discuss this recall to see if they would fix my vehicle.they ran my v.i.n. Number and i was told there was no recall on it.they want me to bring it in for a another diagnostic scan.i asked them to give me a guess as to how much it will cost me.i haven't heard from them yet.i don't understand why the v.i.n. Makes a difference since my vehicle isthe same make, model ,and year as ones on recall.i think there should further investigation into other vehicles having this problem. I know of one other person, with same vehicle as mine, who said their vehicle has been acting like mine. I have no other transport. I am worried about others and myself driving a vehicle with this problem. I'm afraid someone will have a wreck. Please investigate this further.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to yark auto group (6019 central ave, toledo, oh 43615, (419) 877-7712) to be diagnosed, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 33,000. The vin was invalid.

Engine shut off while driving

My daughter was driving the truck when she started to hear noise coming from my truck so she pulled over, call me and then i came up to see what was wrong with the truck no check engine light was on or no over heating and only thing was loud noise so i decided to try to drive the truck home , then on the way driving in ten mile road in warren the truck was getting louder so then i drove it to my daughter father house that was near by . I didn't understand why i need new engine when my light never came on and my truck is only three years old.

The contact restarted the vehicle and drove back to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a defective crank shaft sensor. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling) as a possible cause of the failure however, the vin was not included. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,200.

A recall has been issued on 2016 jeep patriots that are vin specific (s89). However even though our vehicle was included in the manufacturing dates, it was not included on the recall. I had to pay out of pocket to replace the camshaft/crankshaft sensor. The vehicle was constantly stalling out on my daughter while driving the vehicle which shut off the power steering and brakes. This was a very dangerous situation and i paid to get it repaired. I think that the recall should include my vehicle and i should get reimbursed for my payment.

My vehicle engine has come a couple of times and began stalling while driving on streets and highways.i have taken to dealership and the problem was a faulty crankshaft sensor which was a recall (s89) but have been informed that my vehicle does not qualify for a recall.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle shut off without warning and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Jeep stalls when driving. It has happened 6x in the past 2 weeks.twice the engine shut-off without warning. No warning lights on the dash board. It just shut off. It will start after say 5 or 8 minutes and its scary especially driving on 460e from norfolk to richmond 3x a week for work.will send it to the jeep dealer shop on 9/10/19. I purchased it new. It has 29000 miles on it.

Vehicle stalled while driving and stopping.

At the first instance of the engine stalling, the vehicle was in motion, but slowing to stop at a red light. The next instance of the vehicle stalling, it was stopped. The engine shut down, but tried to restart on its own. After resetting the ignition key, and waiting about 3 minutes, the vehicle started...and remained in a running state until we arrived at home. The next time the vehicle was used, it was started via the key fob. It started, and within 15 seconds, the car shut down. Later that day, we took it to a valvoline oil change facility, where they checked for engine codes via the obd port. And error of "crankshaft position sensor" was noted. Later that day, while pulling in to a parking lot, the vehicle stalled and attempted a restart on its own. After several minutes, the vehicle was restarted. While driving on the highway (at around 60 mph), the engine stalled and attempted a restart 4 times (on its own). It restarted, and stayed that way for the remainder of the trip home.in researching this problem, there is a recall (s89) on this type of vehicle, but the date of manufacture is out of range with our vehicle, or does not apply to the all wheel drive version (which we have).

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft sensors and wires were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (royal gate chrysler, dodge, jeep, 15502 manchester road, ellisville, mo) were notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 61,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact also stated that the failure began approximately a year ago and was getting worse. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

It started about two years ago while driving down the road it started jerking like it was between gears . Took to dealership several times just to be told they couldn't find nothing. I told them something was wrong and its so bad when it happens vehicle stalls and almost dies. I have called jeep and they do nothing but blame it on a recall that has been done already. It has gotten so bad i bought my wife another vehicle and i'm driving it do to my safety concerns.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled intermittently while in traffic. The contact stated that the owner's manual suggested to pull the vehicle over and restart it after 8 to 15 seconds. The contact stated that the check engine indicator remained illuminated; however, the manual indicated that the vehicle was safe to drive. If the check engine indicator flashed, the owner's manual suggested to stop driving the vehicle. Cloquet ford chrysler center (701 washington ave, cloquet, mn 55720, (218) 879-4668) was contacted and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The dealer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 64,000.

While driving on a residential road my car stopped without indication, i pressed on the pedal but it wouldn't go.i turned off the car and restarted it right away and it came back on.the next time it was on the highway, everything on the car was still running but the gas pedal wouldn't do anything and it just stopped.i tried restarting the car but it wouldn't turn back on. The car made a loud stuttering noise like it wanted to start but it wouldn't turn on. All the lights on the dash flickered off and on the whole time while trying to restart it. I was finally able to get it back on after about 2-3 minutes of trying to restart it. I found a recall on the crankshaft sensor which causes the engine to stall but i checked my vin and it shows that there isn't a recall associated with my vin. The recall with chrysler is s89.

Front seatbelts will just unbuckle after you've buckled. The jeep wont accelerate, it wont shift until 3 1/2 grand, between 0-40 mph it chugs & almost dies, once above 40 its usually fine. The dealer says things are fine. What is wrong and why wont these issues come up on diagnostics? the tire low sensor is always on - even after new tires & they reset it. No wonder the warranty length was lowered. Brakes became sqeaky around 6 months. One owner - me unfortunately.

Vehicle loses power and/or stalls while driving, even at high speeds. Vehicle stalled several times when stopped. I had to let car sit for a few minutes before it would restart. Lost acceleration at low speeds, especially after turning a corner and beginning to accelerate. You press on the gas and nothing happens. This also happened several times on the highway going 60mph. Luckily it kicked back in. There is a recall on the same year patriot s89 for the crankshaft sensor, which was the exact problem on my patriot. I informed the dealer of this recall when i took the car in for service. He said it wasn't applicable to my vehicle and wouldn't keep the paperwork i gave him for the recall. The dealer, however, told me it was the abs system and charged me to replace it and then ended up replacing the crankshaft sensor after the problem still happened on the test drive after replacing abs. The patriot stalled on the highway. If the dealer would have listened to me and done the test drive first, they would have discovered the issue right away. This is a huge safety issue. Luckily i didn't get hit on the highway.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and driven to superior dodge chrysler jeep (1201 exchange ave, conway, ar 72032), but no failures could be found. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 32,000.

2016 jeep patriot with 38k miles will randomly quit accelerating which causes loss of power, steering control, etc. The red lightning bolt (electronic throttle control)will intermittently come on and flash. Diagnosed at local jeep dealership who said the throttle body needs replacing at a cost of $1000 and is not covered under any jeep warranty - whether the basic or the extended that covers emission systems.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled and restarted independently. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who were unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. Big 'o' dodge located at 2645 laurens rd, greenville, sc 29607, was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut-off without warning. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle would operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic throttle was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Vehicle loses power unpredictably while in motion. Occurs in various scenarios, including during a complete stop, accelerating, decelerating, and cruising (occurs at all speeds 0-75 mph). Vehicle maintains electrical power but loses thrust, power steering, and brake pressure. Car needs to be turned off, and on occasion the engine will not turn over when attempting to re-start. Will have to wait several minutes. Occurs mostly after the vehicle has been drivingfor at least a short distance, then turned off for 5-10 minutes minimum. When vehicle restarts, the operator is at risk for failure. Jeep dealership has replaced the trottle body and issue persisted. Returned to jeep, they replicated the engine failure but cannot identify an issue.

Vehicle stalls while driving at high speed or at low speed and check engine light comes on with code p0335.

While driving slowly (~10 mph) sb i prepared to make a right-turn (wb), in the only lane that turns right. As i neared the intersection the light turned green, enabling me and the (1) lane on my left to go (it goes sb). No car was ahead of me (to turn). The street i was turning onto had one (wb) lane, and two lanes (stopped), that go eb. Note: (may be relevant), i frequently down-shift(automatic) transmissions (using the "paddles" or "buttons", whatever's on the shift column), on all automatic trans. Cars i drive, when i slow down. I do this to save wear & tear on my brakes, when approaching stop-signs or red-lights.i down shift gradually, just like on a manual trans. When it's time to go, i hold the paddle in the "up-shift" mode, until i see "drive" on the trans. Indicator. In this accident, as the light turned green (the trans. Was in a low gear), i held the paddle in "up-shift" mode (note: i may have clicked the paddle 1 gear up before it went to "drive", i don't remember), and started the turn, barely pressing the accelerator. When i was appr. Halfway (45 degrees) into the turn (pointed swb at the opposite two lanes), i felt the engine "stagger" (like if you accidentally shift a manual trans. Into a high gear but you meant a low gear), and in a fraction of a second-the car rocketed ahead (i heard rpms) slamming me into the wb car(s) so fast, i didn't even make 90 degrees, nor could i brake (i tried). The 1st car impacted went backward (and to the right) hitting the car behind, and hit the car in the right lane. Note: 1. Jeep was totaled. 2. This accident was in dry weather, mid-morning @ intersection i drive nearly every day. 3.the airbag failed &i was briefly knocked-outw/some injuries. 4. This is not: " i hit the gas but meant the brake" case, i went from slow to rocket-ship. 5. I've been driving >40 years w/o accident. 5. I'm a pilot w/good reflexes.

I was going uphill on a rural road when my car powered down and the rpms dropped down to 0. It kicked right back in, it happened one more time on my way home through the city. When i got into my driveway, before i could come to a complete stop it dropped rpms and powered down. After a half an hour i went out to head to a dr. Appt and my jeep wouldn't start.

The jeep patriot 2016 latitude 4wd has been having issues "jerking" and today had a couple moments where all power and steering was gone and the accelerator pedal wouldn't pick the car back up to speed. I was driving at about 55mph on a highway and all power went out and i lost steering. It was very scary and dangerous. Please jeep fox this problem and own up to the manufacturer defect your vehicle is reported over and over to have!

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot latitude. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact towed the vehicle to oxmoor chrysler dodge jeep ram (4520 shelbyville rd, louisville, ky 40207, (502) 895-4520) where the power train control module was replaced. While traveling 40 mph, the vehicle shut off again without warning. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed back to the same dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the crankshaft sensor was defective. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa for assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 43,000.

When driving over 30-35 mph the vehical struggles to accelerate and down shifts itself to lower geers not allowing the vehicale to go. The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to autozone and was diagnosed that the catalytic converter failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the failure affected the fuel mileage. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving, without warning. The vehicle was taken to harry blackwell dodge chrysler jeep ram (1660 w business u.s. 60, dexter, mo 63841) and was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the dealer previously completed an update due to the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not under a recall and that the power train warranty was not covered. Additionally, the regular warranty was expired. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

When driving the engine seems to sputter, stall, jerk, rev the rpm at random when driving. It happens on the highway going 70 or in a neighborhood going 25 while driving or starting to go from a stop. It will jerk really hard like it is going to stall out but no lights come on the dash to indicate something is wrong and i have taken it into the dealership many times and they tell me it is normal, i've never had any vehicle behave this way except when i was 15 learning how to drive a manual transmission and that wasn't the fault of the vehicle. It also will while in park randomly rev the rpms when nothing is being used in the vehicle, if i then put it in drive and back to park it usually settles down but not always, sometimes i have to shut it off and back on. The jerking and sputtering while driving has gotten a lot worse in the last few months, over the past few years it would randomly do it but it happens more and more now every time i drive and i am conscerned that one day it will stall out and cause a major accident. I have inquired many times about this to no avail from 3 different dealerships.

Automatic jeep, has difficulty shifting between gears when accelerating. This is especially noticeable when going a slower speed (i.e. Turning a corner, in rush hour traffic with stop-and-go speeds), but does do it at higher speeds (ex. 60 mph to 70 mph).it does not seem to have issues when down shifting.the vehicle has a very noticeable lurch/shutter when it is attempting to shift to a higher gear and will do it repeatedly in a short period of time.the vehicle needs to be driven a while before it will occur, i drive it about 20 miles before it starts exhibiting the issue.the issue is most frightening in city/rush hour traffic because it seems like the vehicle might stop running all together.the vehicle also seems to struggle to make it up hills, as if it does not have enough power to make the climb of even a small hill.the rpm gauge really jumps up high to about 5-6 when climbing a small hill or accelerating 5-10 mph to pass someone on the highway. The issue started before the vehicle had reached 60,000 miles. Filters and oil have been changed several times and fuel injector cleaner has been added to the gas several times, none of these measures have changed the performance issue of the vehicle.

Vehicle stalls while driving unexpectantly, while driving and leaves no recourse or corrections for the driver to be made. Power to all of the vehicle systems stayed on whilst all the controls of the vehicle were removed from the driver. Eventually restarted. But refuses to start after being stationary again. Was driving down a city street when my car just stalled out on a straightaway. Finally restarting and making it home, and now not starting again.

When i'm driving and let off the gas to coast, go around curves, or uphill;, my jeep seems to cutout, skip, or putter as i accelerate again. It seems like it is going to die. I took it to the dealership and they told me nothing is wrong with it. It is only getting worse. And of course i was 3,000 miles over my warranty when it stated happening.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the engine stalled and all of the camshaft sensors were replaced. After the repair, the check engine warning indicator continuously illuminated. The contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling), but the vehicle was not included. The contact notified monterey bay chrysler dodge jeep ram (555 auto center dr, watsonville, ca 95076, (831) 724-2463) and was informed that he would have to pay for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. The vin was unknown.

Takata recall i was driving my 2016 jeep patriot when it stared making a noise and shutter then lost power and stalledin the middle of the road. The car steering locked up when trying to steer car to side of road. The traction light came on right before it stalled and lost power.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle jerked, the abs and traction warning lights illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate and gradually lost power. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The contact turned off and turned on the vehicle and was able to drive normally. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine stalled, the abs and traction warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The contact turned off and turned on the vehicle and was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (washington nc chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat located at 4001 u.s. 264 west, washington, nc 27889) where it was diagnosed that the passenger side wheel sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that two days after the repair was done the same failure recurred several other times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer stated that a case manager would call the contact. A case number was provided but the contact did not have the number. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

I was driving down the highway at 65 mph and my car jerked then stalled out. I almost lost control. I had to coast across 3 lanes of traffic and it stopped on the feeder road.

Two things are wrong with my jeep and have been since the first week i've had it, but the newport power dealer keeps telling me that "if there ever was anything wrong with the car, it fixed itself". Bs nothing is fixed!so the first thing is the safety seatbelt sensor's. When i have a passenger up front and they're buckled up it keeps beeping saying that they're not buckled up. Doesn't happen every time i have a passenger but it's super annoying and happens mostly while driving in town. The second thing is that since the first week i've had the jeep, the engine keeps stalling and other times acts like it's going to die but doesn't. ( newport power dealer told me this issue was due to poor gas mixtures during different times of the year. I'm not stupid and know that's not the issue, i have three other cars that do not do this at all!) the car stalls so far only while stopped at lights, in driveway's, drive through etc. This happens multiple times a week. While driving either in town, turning corners, driving straight or on the highway, the jeep acts as if it's going to die. This happens frequently while driving. Also my back windshield has been leaking since i got the car but the power deler says it's fine. I'm very tired of hearing bs from the power dealer here in newport oregon, i have an extended warranty and i think they just don't want to honor it! these issues have been happening since i bought the car in 2016 to today in 2018.

I have been having an issue with what feels like my engine is stalling and about to seize and my temperature gauge rises. There appears to be no issues with any hoses, radiator or coolants as i've recently had an oil change. Despite when ever i travel on the highway this issue occurs. I travel the nj parkway 5 days a week for work and i fear that the car will shutdown and cause a serious accident. Please advise.

While driving approximately 55-60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was crankshaft position sensor failure, circuit malfunction bank 1, invalid skim key, and an unknown code appeared for the abs. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). Manahawkin chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 500 new jersey 72 west, manahawkin, nj 08050) was contacted by phone at 866-834-5922 and informed of the failure. The failure recurred five times. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

I was driving when my car suddenly died. I was able to restart.i went to the dealer and it's pulling codes for the crankshaft camshaft sensor or intermittent system. They are not able to check my vehicle for 5 days even though my car shutting off while driving is an emergency issue where i could be hit or i could cause a crash. This sensory and system is a documented issue on the 2016 patriot. My model does not fall in the dates of the recall but i think the recall needs to be expanded because chrysler jeep knows this is a problem and is not covering my vin. Again this is a safety concern for my life and they would not even work me in on an emergency basis and i am forced to continue on the road.

On 06/20/2019, car began to have sporadic acceleration problems.no check engine light appeared at first but by middle of day, check engine alert came on. Immediately afterwards, vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph.drove vehicle directly to mechanic with hazard lights on driving at speeds between 15-20 mph.mechanic worked on vehicle repairs following day (06/21/2019) and replaced throttle body & throttle body gasket.vehicle did not have acceleration problems after repairs.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. After the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall regarding the crankshaft, the vehicle lost acceleration while driving various speeds. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. In addition, the abs and four wheel drive warning indicators illuminated. The repairs were performed by fletcher superstore (3111 e 32nd st, joplin, mo 64804, (417) 553-7589). The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,200. The vin was unknown.

Driving on the interstate at highway speed the red lightning bolt warning light came on, as did the check engine and traction control lights and the accelerator cut out. I was able to coast across 3 lanes to the side of the road, but this has happened three times and apparently my 2016 patriot wasn't included in the recall that addressed this issue.

Vehicle stalled with no warning signs while i was driving and went into limp mode, took it to a jeep dealer to check it out. They say the jeep needs a whole new transmission. Will not drive at all but has power. Only has 112,000. Codes: p0777 - pressure control solenoid b - stuck on, p0741 - torque converter clutch solenoid - stuck off, p0730 incorrect great ratio

Acceleration has been stalling a month after purchasing the vehicle. Oil change has been up to date as well as the diagnostics but unfortunately we still haven?t found the cause. We didn?t think too much of it until a friend of ours transmission just shut down on hers and she had the same issue with her 2014 jeep patriot. The stalling comes and goes but often stalls when accelerating.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lagged and hesitated before accelerating. There was also rough idling while stopped at a stoplight with an abnormal grinding sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle stalled intermittently on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer four times prior for the failure and the catalytic converter was replaced as part of a recall, the coolant was flushed, and the engine was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the vin was not under recall. The contact was relating the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 101,858.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was unable to be restarted. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The contact stated there was an unknown warning light illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. When attempting to start the vehicle, the engine would not immediately start. The contact had to turn the key several times before the engine would start. The local dealer (koons tysons chrysler dodge jeep ram, 2050 chain bridge rd, vienna va) was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v9070000 (engine and engine cooling) although the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 39,100.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact performed a diagnostic test on the vehicle himself and retrieved failure code: p0420 catalytic system efficiency below threshold. The catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 109,057.

I have a code p0335 crankshaft position sensor a circuit . On my car and it was a recall on it , but my car's vin says it's not ! it won't crank

My roof is leaking when it rains hard under the dome light into the light on the dashboard and is getting into the radio/navigation system. Also is leaking from the roof on the passenger side dashboard.

The electronic throttle control system warning light came on during highway travel and the vehicle slowed down due to lack of power. It happened quickly and posed a danger as i was not able to pull over immediately. The car was unable to go faster than 20mph and i had to have it towed 70 miles home. This failure has happened with only 33k miles.this sudden and early failure created a dangerous situation.

Same issue as recall s89/16v907000. Stalls randomly and power not delivered to engine properly. Major safety issue for our family.

My jeep sputters like it's going to shut off. It does occasionally and i loose steering and speed control and the brakes dont work.not sure if it's a fuel issue a transmission issue or what the deal is but it has done it forever.it jerks around like it is in the wrong gear and often is trying to operate in 6th gear when going 30 mph. It's not changing gears...it isn't accelerating correctly when pulling out in traffic. It is a disaster waiting to happen and has been. The local dealer just says wait for recall info. It's a jeep. It will be coming eventually....hello i drive my kids around daily

While driving, rpms would drop to 0 and vehicle would not accelerate. Vehicle would lose power steering and lights dimmed but battery and alternator were working fine. Engine code history showed an error for the crankshaft ignition sensor and throttle body.

The vehicle has consistent fuel injection issues which cause the car to stutter when accelerating up hills. I took the vehicle to the dealership twice and they said they could not find problem. Now that it is out of warranty the problem is persistent and there is an engine fault

Same exact issue as safety recall s89 / nhtsa 16v-907 stallles arriving and won't restart

I was not informed of this recall and had no knowledge why my car would stall. No notice was sent o my house. I want another vehicle, it can be used same year and style but fixed!

When driving the engine will stall/stop without warning. With it going staright or turning it does not matter. You have to completely stop the vehicle and then restart the engine. This has happened on a number of occasions

Check engine light staying on "gas cap notification" new aftermarket gas cap still same notification...driving at 55mph or just idling vehicle just shuts off ?sometimes it will restart while driving but will die again...have to try to pull off road to avoid traffic when possible...have to put in park & wait for all chimes to ring then try starting again...very scary when you can't leave from a stop sign or come to no power situation on a busy highway...don't get on interstate since this started!!

Vehicle stalled while driving and stopping.

It acts like itā€™s going to stall. It bucks and sputter anytime i accelerate from a stopped position.

I was adding gas to the jeep and the gas spewed out because the cutoff did not work; it is not the gas station's problem because i have used the pump for my car and it cuts off when the tank is full.my son had the same problem at another gas station where there is a defect in the jeep in that it doesn't cut off the gas when full.this needs to be addressed immediately or i am going to start a class-action lawsuit before someone gets covered in gas.

When it is ready to shift between2nd and 3rd gear with foot on pedal steady it will pause light will come on then when it gets caught up it will shot u forward.it does this most often when pulling on to highway vehicle only has 39683 on millage

Driving down highway vehicle had sudden loss of all power. Headlamps flickered and everything shut off. Unable to put hazard lights on or use horn to warn oncoming traffic.

My transmission is not connecting gears when it gets too hot this happens when i accelerate and in between gears of first and second second and third and third and fourth.

Vehicle started slipping in gear. Within day and a half of first signs of gear not catching, the vehicle grinds down the clutch and no longer went stationary and no longer would drive. Only has 49000 miles. Driven three vehicles in 20 years with ma ual transmission and never had problems like this. At the dealership where they won't honor agreed to terms of extended warranty so can't get pics

Overtime, the jeep has gotten worse when accelerating. When accelerating, the jeep will keep jerking like it's slipping gears. It will occur accelerating on a street or while on the highway.

Without alerts, engine stalled while driving at approximately 30 mph on a straightaway, frontage road.steering wheel locked up.i brought vehicle to a stop and turned on hazard signals.removed key entirely and then re-inserted and attempted to start vehicle.car failed to start but made ignition noises for approximately 10 seconds without success at which all alert lights on dashboard lit up only while key was turned but failing to start.i removed key entirely again and waited approximately fifteen seconds before re-inserting and attempting ignition once more.this attempt succeeded and i was able to drive vehicle home.

As i was driving at about 45 miles per hour, on a two lane road, my vehicle lost all power. It wouldn't hardly pull itself. It almost stalled out completely. I had to shut it off and it reset for a short time. Fortunately i had a place to pull out of the way.i'm having trouble giving my vehicle throttle now. I believe the throttle body is the part that is the issue. I've read that is a problem with other jeep patriots.

I was driving on a busy 5 lane main road through the center of town and depressed the clutch and brake preparing to stop at a red light.the clutch popped loose and was disabled.it no longer had any force against it but could be freely moved throughout its range of motion with no engagement or disengagement of the transmission which left the vehicle in gear as i was trying to stop.this caused the vehicle to stall and left it disabled in the center lane of a very busy 5 lane road approximately 40ft from a busy intersection.the failure was due to an improperly installed fitting in the wall forward of the driver pedals through which the clutch rod passes.this was a manufacturer installation as the car had 20 miles on it when purchased and the failure occurred at 150 miles.the fitting must be seated to allow the clutch rod to engage/disengage when the pedal is pressed.a misalignment of the hole in the wall and the clutch rod caused upward pressure on the fitting which was enough to hold it in place temporarily but eventually came loose.the proper installation of the fitting is to protrude fully through the wall and then be clocked 45deg so the tabs seat, keeping the fitting in place.a police officer was able to assist with the traffic obstacle while waiting for a tow truck and there were no injuries as a result.the loss of the clutch on a manual transmission vehicle at any given time can cause a serious safety issue.the inability to change gears or move to or from neutral can be a potentially very dangerous situation depending on the circumstances.this seems like a simple recall to inspect the installation for a likely limited lot of vehicles, however, the manufacturer, fia llc, disagreed.

My car doesn't accelerate like it should and getting on the highway or trying to speed up on highway, the car stalls and doesn't want to go. The rpm doesn't go anywhere and the car jerks a lot. It happening more everyday than before when it would only happen ever so often.

Tire pressure sensor light has been on since car was bought new, had it checked by dealer and they said it would go off after driven a few miles.engine light came on around 50k miles and before i could get it checked it went off.i was told the only way the computer could detect the problem was if the light was on. It has came on and gone back off several times.now it has came on at 90k miles and the i had it checked and was told i had a bad crankshaft sensor and a bad camshaft sensor.now the transmission has started slipping at 90k miles.i'm also on my 3rd set of tires on the front because the front end will not stay aligned

The car would hesitate when accelerating and slow down to a very low speed before bucking and thrusting until the speed would increase.the slowness was slow enough on a highway to almost cause an accident.

Shifts from d to 1st on its own: from a stop, the 2016 jeep patriot semi-automatic transmission drops to first gear on its own. There is no indication until the driver has pulled into traffic and has no acceleration power. The dash light indicates the vehicle is in 1st gear, but the driver was not expecting this and must either gun the engine and take rpms off the chart to avoid a crash from oncoming vehicles, or manually shift the vehicle to n or p and then return to d for a type of "reset". The issue is intermittant. The dealership where we bought the vehicle cannot replicate the problem (in to shop 3x for this issue). They replaced the stick sensor and opened two separate staron packs with jeep engineers. But the problem continues. I suspect its transmission ($$) related or electrical ($$). Moving on to new dealership service. Fingers crossed.cruise control: when cruise engaged at 70-75 mph on open hwy, had to slow for traffic. Speed dropped down to about 60-65. When reengaged cruise, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably--rpms shot through the roof. Had to tap the breaks to disengage cruise and whole family experienced a hard lurch. Reported issue to jeep service as perhaps related to issue with downshifting to first. Response was that this was normal.seatbelts: when a person weighing more than 230lbs sits in the front seats, the seat belt warning sound dings as if the belt is not engaged. The dealership replaced sensors in both front seats. Problem resolved.

Transmission is winding and juddering.

On september 24, 2018 the jeep patriot listed above stalled while driving east on i-70we were towed to a mechanic in goodland, kansas. After the vehicle was diagnosed it was discovered that the camshaft was broken.

Drive for 6 hours and 400 miles at 65 mph on higway, the transmission overheat light comes on suddenly and the vehicle lose speed rapidly and stops on highway. The vehicle becomes unmovable forward and strands passengers dangerously stuck in the traffic lane.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 35 mph, the gear shifted on its own out of the drive position. The contact placed the gear in neutral and then back into drive. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to schumacher chrysler dodge jeep ram of delray (561-935-4210, located at 2102 s federal hwy a, delray beach, fl 33483) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,811.

Takata recall i was driving my 2016 jeep patriot when it stared making a noise and shutter then lost power and stalledin the middle of the road. The car steering locked up when trying to steer car to side of road. The traction light came on right before it stalled and lost power.

The contact stated while entering a parking lot, the vehicle lost motive power, shuddered and jerked without warning. The vehicle was restarted however, the failure recurred several times. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the power train failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. The vin was not available.

I was not informed of this recall and had no knowledge why my car would stall. No notice was sent o my house. I want another vehicle, it can be used same year and style but fixed!

My vehicle engine has come a couple of times and began stalling while driving on streets and highways.i have taken to dealership and the problem was a faulty crankshaft sensor which was a recall (s89) but have been informed that my vehicle does not qualify for a recall.

Code p0777 pressure control solenoid b stuck oncar is not going into gears now. First, it would only go into reverse. But, nothing now.

The vehicle stalled while driving. Lost steering capabilities and had a hard time pulling over. Had to turn key completely off and wait a couple minutes and it turned back on. I was on a busy city street.

The vehicle shudders/ lags during acceleration. More specifically during stops when trying to accelerate. This does not happen all the time. When the vehicle has been on the road for a considerable amount of time it will do the same in an upwards of 50 miles an hour on the highway shuddering at different times. I am unsure what caused this problem, i just bought the car back in november 2018 with 42k miles on it. I haven't even put 10k miles on this vehicle and it is acting strangely. Another issue with this car is the abs and stability control sensor keeps malfunctioning. It keeps coming loose from the sensor that connects to the tire and unfortunately most people are told their abs system needs to be replaced and that's not the issue. I think the shudder/lag issue should be listed as a recall for my vehicle and a broader range of other jeeps because this seems to be a standard issue with jeep patriots 2016 models.

At 50 miles an hr transmission not shifting right making a whining sound i was driving back from lampass on 35 going to dallas i only have 60000 miles

My vehicle doesn't want to accelerate.when i am on the freeway in order to keep up an acceptable speed i have to keep the gas pedal completely pressed down.also when i leave a stop light/stop sign the jeep has no acceleration power.

Engine shut off while driving

If the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. Was told it was a defect. March 2018gasket needed to be replaced. Again was told it was a defect. Both times had to pay a hundred dollars deducted

The seat belt in my jeep does not remain buckled some times i have to put it the receiving part several time before it clicks in and sometimes i will be driving down the road and it unbuckles a quick google search brings up multiple other people with the same problem i have been in another jeep patriot and the driver had trouble getting it to buckle so i have personally experienced it in two different but same year jeep patriots

The seat belt sensor does not properly disengage. When i pull the seat belt about 1 to 2 inches the sensor on the dash goes off. I have been working with the dealership but also wanted to remove it.

Passenger seat belt retracted so tight my son was unable to get out of the vehicle. He was unable to breath. The seat belt had to be cut. The car was not in motion. I had to ask a police officer for assistance.

When i put my seatbelt on it comes undone while i am driving.it seems like it does not latch properly.it does not do this everytime.i have to pull my seatbelt to test and make sure it has latched.if i was ever to get in an accident, i would be worried that it would not hold.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the seat belt warning indicator intermittently illuminated while driving various speeds. The vehicle was taken to thompson chrysler dodge jeep ram (124 north point blvd, baltimore, md 21224, (410) 288-3100) where it was diagnosed that an electrical non pcm flashed and the driver side seat belt assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph an unknown vehicle veered in front of the vehicle and cut her off the brake pedal was applied however, the vehicle was uncontrollably, swerved across the road and crashed into the hillside. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver's side curtain bag deployed but the passengers side curtain air bag failed to deploy completely. There were no reported injuries. A police report was not filed.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 24,300. *dt

Active headrest was deployed/activated while idle at a red light, the headrest hit the back of my head and made me release the brake while stopped at a red light, there was also a very loud noise (kind of like a gun shot noise). This was very scary as i had no idea what had happened or what had hit my head, i had to pull to the side of the road and examine my car to make sure it was safe to drive it. All this while i was in pain resulting from the headrest hitting the back of my head.

While driving down the highway the head rest deployed on the driver side. There was no rear ended accident or anything like a warning, it just went off. Iā€™ve seen that this has happened to a lot of jeep vehicles and this is extremely dangerous. Someone else was driving my car and hit them in the beck of the head very hard. Thankfully nothing serious came from this such as, us crashing since the highway we were driving on speed limit was 75mph. Itā€™s not fixable at home and should be recalled asap as itā€™s extremely expensive to get this fixed as well as extremely dangerous to randomly go off while driving!!

The car is engaging the traction control for no reason at a speed of 20 mph attempting to slow down vehicle the car is applying breaks no snow no rain on a dry asphalt road

1st: abs light and anti skid warning lights illuminated 8/31/2018. Vehicle has less than 20000 miles.my sister in law owns a 2016 jeep patriot in texas and it has developed the identical problem. The lights sometimes go off but keep coming back on.not sure if abs is functional. 2nd: dealer advises that the wheel mounting bolts (5 each wheel) are defective and will need to be replaced. I have scheduled warranty service with dealer for late sept but these failures seem odd for such a new car and have happen on at least one other 2016 model in texas

I've had constant issue with my breaks squealing.after having the vehicle about 9 months the abs light would come on any time i drove across a speed bump in a parking lot, any area on a roadway that was uneven.a few months later when turning right, my left wheel continued to go to the left.at random times when turning left either from a stop or going around a curve there is a loud grinding noise or humming noise coming from underneath the carriage in the front.

Multiple warning lights indicate the vehicle routinely lost contact with anti-lock brake module, wheel distance, and speed while both stationary and in motion.

The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

Water in front dome light suddenly after several months. Dripping down dashboard and cause electrical problems. Stationary vehicle with no leaks in sunroof bought 01/2020. 08/2020 first occurrence, damage to lights on ac and heat controls.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was stopped, it rolled backwards. The brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle. Also, the traction control indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

I was driving not far from my house doing between 20 and 25 mph. The road is very windy and being a secondary road there are no guard rails. Both sides of the road are heavily populated with trees. Coming up to another curve in the road i applied my brakes the slow a little more to take the curve, as i started to turn the steering wheel i realized it would not turn, it was locked in place.now i'm applying my brakes harder, fighting to turn my steering wheel and stop, all to no avail. I hit a tree before i could steer my jeep. My "purchased new" 2016, in very good condition is now totaled, windows blowout, airbags deployed, and thank god i walked away with the help of ems, firefighters and police. I am a single working mother, who could have lost her life. I know there is no recall on my vin number but there are numerous complains about other jeeps, (my year and other years) with the steering locking up or freezing. At the time of this writing the police report was not ready. I will obtain that report. I also think i should request the insurance company have the jeep checked out to see if they can tell what caused the accident. If this can be done also, i will obtain this report also and upload everything with pictures of my totaled jeep.thanking you advance for any help you can supply.

Purchased vehicle less than 6 monthes ago and complained to the dealer that it sounded and felt like wheels were about to fall off. 8 days later i took it to get an oil change and the shop refused. He explained that when theylifted the jeep and inspected tires the wire treads were exposed in the middle of the tire, at any moment the vehicle could pose serious injury or death to passengers. I took it to the dealership and they changed tire but did not inspect the vehicle. The brakes continually made a screeching sound , for some unknown reason. The steering wheel would often veer left when turned right and the jeep kept making rubbing and popping soundslast week while travelling less than 20 miles an hour the car made a popping sound , i lost control ofsteering wheeland it was veering to right , running up on the curb and the vehicle was still in motion . . when the jeep finally stopped i was unable to move steering wheel nor push it out of the street. It had to be towed away. Mechanic inspected and advised of numerous issues: axle bent, control arm , drive shaft, suspension to mention a few. The jeep had 107000 miles when this occured and is under warranty. Mechanic is requesting warranty approval to fix the failed components and damages incurred from the failure

Takata recall i was driving my 2016 jeep patriot when it stared making a noise and shutter then lost power and stalledin the middle of the road. The car steering locked up when trying to steer car to side of road. The traction light came on right before it stalled and lost power.

The car was jerking to the left and caused me to hit a semi truck. The pulling was very hard and sudden. This happened on west georgia road in simpsonville south carolina.

My ingination where the key goes in when turning off vehicle does not lock- when you get back into car - you put key into ingination- the carstarts than dies and you have to start it again it has been doing this for about 3 weeks now - i called dealership and they said theyhave had another 2016 jeep patriot with the same issue.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 20 mph approaching a red light, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and the vehicle rolled forward. In an attempt to stop the vehicle from crashing, the contact depressed the brake pedal, placed the vehicle in park, and turned off the engine. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to restart. The vehicle was towed to allen samuels dodge chrysler jeep ram (201 west loop 340, waco, texas 76712, (254) 848-6200), but the dealer could not duplicate the failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The cv axles have gone bad on a car that is brand new after only 2 years i haven't even been driving it 2 years and i feel that it can mess up my steering and and cause me to have a wreck due to the clicking and popping and vibrations being put off by the steering and from tires even going thirty and not during a turn

When you drive with the steering wheel straight the jeep pulls to the right. So if you want to go straight you must turn the wheel to the left. Was told all the patriots do this due to the transmission. If that's the case i would like this issue to be fixed cause i believe that's a scam making people believe it's a good vechile knowing there is a problem.

Constantly drifting to the right ,at dealer ship 9 times for same problem ,and nothing is done ,problem has been going on since car was new ,currently trying to get car lemon lawed

Hi,water started leaking through my inside dome light. It happens after it rains.. I brought it to the jeep dealer. They claim they have never seen this before.it seems to be epidemic.below isa link i found:http://www.jeepproblems.com/interior-water-leaks/ thanks, werner

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving in the rain at 10 mph, the contact stopped at a stop sign and a large amount of water began to leak from the map lights in the roof of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,750.

When i start driving the car after a heavy rain, water pours in through the front and rear interior lights.this has occurred on several occasions.

Roof leaking through rear cargo light, dealer failed to repair properly after 4 attempts.

The cv axles have gone bad on a car that is brand new after only 2 years i haven't even been driving it 2 years and i feel that it can mess up my steering and and cause me to have a wreck due to the clicking and popping and vibrations being put off by the steering and from tires even going thirty and not during a turn

I have a 2016 jeep. It will not accelerate going up hills, picking up speeds, rpms will not shift accurately. We took to the deal shop and they told me it's a bad transmission all together.

Rear tire area makes a grinding sound, auto shop explained that it was the control arm and suspension (rear cradle assembly) was broken at weld connection to the frame. Spoke to another auto shop about repairs, told i was mistaken, part should not break. Contacted warranty tech/edge warranties regarding issue, told to take to dealership. Dealership calls back same day and said that it broke because it had been pulled wrong...i asked what that meant, dealership said that it had been towed wrong. I told him that we had purchased new from the lot and had never been towed. Representative said he would look further into issue after telling me that i needed to contact my insurance.next day, representative of dealership calls (breeden dodge) and tells me that once they took the wheel off and examined further, that the "pulled wrong theory" was out the door, that it basically just broke, and that it should not have. I again told him that from each professional i spoken with that it was more than likely a manufacturer defect/error. He said he would contact chrysler to see if they would stand behind issue. I dropped the vehicle off on a wednesday, the following wednesday, the representative calls back saying that chrysler will not stand behind, but that i needed to contact insurance company. I told him that i had an extended warranty through warranty tech/edge warranties (chrysler calls it one thing and dealership calls it another). The representative acted like the extended warranty was an issue, each time i mentioned it, but said he would contact them. He called back a couple of hours later and said that the warranty would not cover because it is part of the frame. He then insisted that i contact my insurance company. I told him i would contact both chrysler and warranty tech. I contacted chrysler and almost got it approved as he had only contacted them the day prior.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving at unknown speeds, the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated and an abnormal noise was heard. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (napleton's river oaks chrysler dodge jeep ram, 17225 torrence ave, lansing il 60438) where it was diagnosed that the control assembly panel, control sensor, and sensor light failed and reprogramming was needed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 32,000.

Purchased this jeep in march.it is now just a little over a month later and already this jeep has been in the shop twice for water leaking into the rear dome light, filling the light fixture with water, and when you make a turn the water will leak out of the dome light and onto the rear of the vehicle all over the carpeted area where items are stored.both times i have noticed the water it has been in the morning after it has rained at night and i am opening the hatch to put my belongings inside.twice already in the shop for this same issue and i my first car payment isn't even due!

I drove 30 minutes to work. Stopped for 10 minutes to get breakfast. And as i was parking my car, 2016 jeep patriot, it began to smoke. No lights came on. I turned it off and got out. Then the car just caught a fire. A regularly maintenance jeep patriot just caught fire and is destroyed.

My vehicle had 39000 miles on it when the starter went out. The warranty went out at 36000. So i took it independent repair shop and had it repaired. Chrysler will not reimburse me for the part.

If the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. Was told it was a defect. March 2018gasket needed to be replaced. Again was told it was a defect. Both times had to pay a hundred dollars deducted

Same issue as recall s89/16v907000. Stalls randomly and power not delivered to engine properly. Major safety issue for our family.

The contact owned a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving at unknown speed she noticed smoke from the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated she pulled over the vehicle and exited the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle was on fire and she could not breathe. The fire department came to the scene and was able extinguish the fire. The vehicle was towed to towing lot. The vehicle was not taken to local dealer for a diagnostic test.the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

My vehicle is sputtering, and accelerating very uneven, stalling. It's doing everything the recall states but my vin says it's been repaired, but seems to be incorrect.

I was coming out of a stop getting ready to get into the turning lane for the interstate ramp and when i pressed the gas the car barely moved but the rpm shot up and was revving. Came to a full stop and put car in park and it made a very loud noise. Put back in drive and seemed to be normal.

Back in november of 2018 my jeep was in an accident. My son was the operator of the vehicle at the time on his way to pick me up from work in tiverton rhode island. According to him, he recalls everything fine and then a moment wherein everything went blank. Upon arrival the vehicle was severely damaged, i asked him what happened, he was in a state of confusion. At that point the police had caught up, and began the investigation, and my son went to the hospital by rescue.fast forward: we are in question to the vehicle's safety. At the time of the incident the vehicle veered into the oncoming traffic. Based on our investigation and recall of the incident a: the airbags did not deploy and b: the right wheel and axle was completely disengaged although the vehicle had sustained a majority of damages on the left/driver's side! the left/driver's side wheel and axle was still completely intact despite sustaining a vast amount of damages. *dt

The gear shift stays locked in park

As i am driving, when i slow down or sit in traffic my car randomly shuts off without any indication that anything is wrong on the dashboard. I can't brake nor accelerate when this happens. Mechanic doesn't see anything wrong but it happens atleast 3 times a month. This usually happens when on a highway or very busy boulevard. I've almost crashed every time this happens while my daughter is in the vehicle.

My vehicle feels like it's stalling or the transmission is going out when i make turns.

My jeep stalls and just cut off. Once i was backing in the garage and it just cut off.another time i j came off the highway sitting at a red light getting ready to turn and it shut off.

My vehicle stalls when you push the gas pedal, you have to turn the vehicle off and restart it ,it will also completely stall going down the road going anywhere between 20 to 45 miles per hour

Two times approximately 6 months apart, my jeep patriot completely stalled while driving 70 mph on the interstate in the middle of traffic. Leaving me about 8 seconds to get to the side of the road where the jeep started right back up with no problem and drove with no issues. About a day after each episode the check engine light turned off. Both times, i almost got hit by semi trucks because i drive in a big city.

I believe the clockspring is faulty. Air bag light on, horn not working and the step/reset button on steering wheel stopped working. Scared the air bag wont deploy if in a accident.

I recently purchased this car from a dealer and just this week the car has stalled on me while driving in traffic. It has stalled and shut off while driving down major streets, interstates and roads. I have no warning of when the car will shut off, the dashboard lights do not come on. It's almost as if it's powering down like a computer, but while i'm going in excess of 30 mph on a busy street or highway. This has happened to me 5/7 days this week. The major thing, my car died while at a stoplight on the way home 10/27/18 and i couldn't get the key out of the ignition. The car has cut off both while i'm driving and when i'm stopped at a light or intersection. I've only had this car a month.*dt'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'updated 12/11/18

I was driving 65 mph on a busy freeway, when my vehicle slowed down 40 miles and stalled. Approximately 1 hour later, aaa arrives inspect my vehicle and there's nothing apparently wrong. My car drives like nothing ever happened. This is extremely dangerous! i will be taking it into the jeep dealership tomorrow.this happened in menlo park, ca off the willow exit. I was in the middle lane, and managed to make it to a center divider.

My roof is leaking when it rains hard under the dome light into the light on the dashboard and is getting into the radio/navigation system. Also is leaking from the roof on the passenger side dashboard.

Engine is stalling and turning off while driving and while idle.

The car will die at a complete stop either at a red light or just idling. It will also act like it is about to die will driving. The rpm's will drop to zero and when you give it gas it will not go. This will happen several times in one day.

We have a jeep patriot 2016 and were told that there was a recall on it for the crankshaft sensor which effects the starter. We have been having issues with the jeep starting and told by a mechanic that it was under recall. We took it to the jeep dealer and they scheduled it to be fixed. We were then called and told that this vehicle missed the recall date by 2 months so it would not be covered by the recall and it would cost to have this fixed. It is the same issue that has been reported on other 2016 jeeps and this should be a recall on this vehicle as well. We are now having to pay to have this repair done when vehicles of the same year were recalled for the same issue! the vehicle was stationary when the issue started and it would not start. We actually had it hooked up to read what the issue was also. It identified an issue with the crankshaft sensor. The same reported recall issue!

Maybe a month ago ok drove to work as normal my vehicle sits parked most of the day as i was leaving to go home my vehicle would not turn over every i had no clue assuming this is a fairly new vehicle so i again attempted to crank the vehicle and and started . I thought nothing of it but last night i purchased gas at the same place just around the corner from home just as i made my turn to cross the median it thumps twice and just shut off i try not to complain but should that have happened on a highway or any street i could have not just hurt i could have hurt others . I sat there on the side of the road in front of a church grateful . S o now the vehicle won't start sounds like it wants to bit won't

The car slows down and looses power while driving. It also shuts it self off ever since i bought this jeep.

There is an approximately 1/2 second delay from when the horn switch is pressed to when the horn sounds.this is a dangerous safety hazard and has already resulted in my experiencing 3 near misses since taking ownership of the vehicle (in october 2015).the failure of the horn to sound when needed caused me to take evasive maneuvers because the other drivers didn't hear it in time.november 2015 in hoboken new jersey i was heading north on washington street at 25 mph when someone started to back out of a curb facing parking spot.the driver apparently didn't see me and proceeded to pull out.i held down the horn but by the time it sounded the driver was too close and was about to t-bone me.i had to drive onto to wrong side of the road to avoid him.luckily no one was approaching in the opposite direction.again in november of 2015 i was heading north on us route 202, doing about 30 mph in a 40 mph zone in parsippany new jersey.a car shoots out of a corporate park driveway headed straight toward me.i held down the horn and again it sounded about a half a second later, too late for the oncoming driver to realize it.we both slammed on the brakes when we saw each other and luckily there was no accident.december 2015 in wayne new jersey heading west on preakness avenue (one lane in each direction) i approached a curve to the right traveling at 25 mph.the driver of an oncoming car (on the other side of the road) crossed over the double yellow lines onto my side of the road.i held down the horn and it didn't sound until the other driver almost hit me.luckily there was a small shoulder on my side and i was able to quickly move my right two wheels onto it and avoid the collision.jeep and the dealership i purchased the vehicle from state that this behavior is normal as the horn is designed to use the vehicle's computer. No horn should use the computer.

I have not even had the vehicle a week yet.the engine has died on me twice.once while driving 40 mph going to work on a dark two lane road. No warning lights, no sounds - just all of the sudden i was not moving and i was left in the middle of the road.i wasn't even able to coast to the side.the second time i was stopped at a light and idling.the engine died.again, no warning lights or anything.on 3 instances the engine will turn over but not crank.it starts after several tries.the vehicle is a previously owned with just under 11,000 miles on it.i am concerned about driving it now.if it dies while on the interstate then i could get into a serious accident.

A very strong exhaust smell like gas in the car from the exhaust system.

This vehicle is a lemon it almost caused a fatality it backfired and all the lights came on it's been pulling and out of line since day one bought new.....sensors have been replaced three times and now in shop for electrical sensor $1400

Car smoking then lost complete power and glided down freeway stopped car completely on firesee also 11053940

While driving at 10 mph on traffic entering the university the steering gradually became stiffer, until the engine suddenly turnoff by itself, loosing all the controls of the car. No sensors or safety lights went on at the time of the incident.after a few minutes i turned that car back on and everything was in working order.i called the road assistance and informed the dealer since the car was serviced back on february 23, 2017 due to a safety recall notice s89 - crankshaft camshaft sensor, at a higher speed this incident could have resulted in a mayor collision. The service department ofbenitez chrysler is evaluating the cause.so far thediagnostics indicate a stop land switch failure at the break. I indicated that they have to call chrysler and odi-nhtsa in order to report the incident and look for guidance, since i will not expose any life on a new car unresolved safety problem.

My 2016 jeep patriot hesitates and jerks when i step on the gas pedal.sometimes it will not go over 40 mph. When i stop then let off the brake the vehicle jumps forward without stepping on the gas pedal. It runs sluggish. There are three lights on the dashboard lite up.the engine light, the lightning boltand the traction light.

My car doesn't accelerate like it should and getting on the highway or trying to speed up on highway, the car stalls and doesn't want to go. The rpm doesn't go anywhere and the car jerks a lot. It happening more everyday than before when it would only happen ever so often.

While at a full stop at a stop light, the car attempted to accelerate to 40 mph.a red lightning bolt lit up on the dash.the car was shut down.when the car was restarted, the check engine light came on.the car still randomly attempts to accelerate under all and any driving conditions.so far the acceleration sensor has been replaced with no avail.currently trying another service group to isolate and correct the problem.the vehicle is dangerous because there is no predictable pattern to the random accelerations.the date noted is the last occurance. We've been attempting to get the vehicle repaired since july 18, 2018.

Vehicle has had total of 9 incidents involving check engine light involving fail code 22, p2127,p2138. Car has had stationary stall outs or no starts. While vehicle is in park has high rev to 3000 rpms. While caris driven in city has had rapid deceleration from 45 to 30 mph with jerky forward and back movement with no ability to control speed other than heavy breaking, no acceleration control. While on highway ;rapid uncontrolled deceleration from 65 to 40 mph, with no ability to re-accelerate with jerking forward and back motion. Self acceleration(driver has not engaged accelerator pedal)from stopped position= 0-40 mph requiring emergency brake application to stop with limited to no steering capability. Vehicle has been to multiple jeep dealerships in co and az from 4/8/16-2/21/18. Multiple repairs have been completed with no resolution. Lemon law application and further litigation is ongoing.

The car is engaging the traction control for no reason at a speed of 20 mph attempting to slow down vehicle the car is applying breaks no snow no rain on a dry asphalt road

Takata recall the tcm on my jeep patriot short-circuited out of nowhere and now it causes my transmission gears to slip while i'm driving and makes my rpms rev really high wow my acceleration is minimum meaning when i put my foot on the pedal and press the rpms jump really high and my car barely even picks up speed i was driving on a city street and all of a sudden i felt something was wrong that's when i noticed the rpms revving really really high while my car was slowing down it's never done it before and it causes traffic because my vehicle will run real slow and takes almost me having to put my pedal to the ground just so i can speed up enough to get out of the way so when i got home i hooked up an obd monitor to my car and it said lost tcm communication now i can't even drive my car because i'm afraid i'm going to blow up the engine or something

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while her husband was driving with the cruse control activated, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The driver was unable to deactivate the cruise control. The vehicle continue to accelerate. The brake pedal was depressed and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop. The vehicle was restarted and operated as intended. The contact called stephen wade chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat dealer, (1724 hilton dr, st. George, ut 84770) and scheduled an appointment which was still pending. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.

The car would hesitate when accelerating and slow down to a very low speed before bucking and thrusting until the speed would increase.the slowness was slow enough on a highway to almost cause an accident.

Multiple warning lights indicate the vehicle routinely lost contact with anti-lock brake module, wheel distance, and speed while both stationary and in motion.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While driving, the electronic throttle, electronic stability control off, and malfunction indicators illuminated. Also, the engine stalled and lost power. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle control needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that no recall was associated with the vehicle. No further assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 35,790.

Going down the highway attempting to accelerate the car will lose power, the red lightning bolt will flash. Then within seconds the light will cut off the car will gain power and will accelerate.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep patriot. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and stalled. The contact stated that the same failure occurred every time the vehicle attempted to exceed 40 mph. The dealer (hertrich chrysler dodge jeep ram of elkton, 1147 e pulaski hwy, elkton, md 21921) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. A crack appeared on the driver sidewindshield for no reason, did not hit anything.

I come down a small over pass, and ice wasn't visible/ when i braked my left tire driver side at the curb

The cv axles have gone bad on a car that is brand new after only 2 years i haven't even been driving it 2 years and i feel that it can mess up my steering and and cause me to have a wreck due to the clicking and popping and vibrations being put off by the steering and from tires even going thirty and not during a turn
