The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the driver's frontal active headrest restraint deployed independently. The vehicle was taken to miller's chrysler dodge jeep ram (48 kelly island rd, martinsburg, wv 25401, (304) 263-8821) where it was diagnosed that two clips in the headrest fractured and the headrest needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Car was parked in driveway overnight. Got into car the next day and my driver side head rest has been deployed and unable to reset due to the damaged hinge.
A car rear ended us on the freeway. We were going 70mph and they averaged 20mph faster. When the struck my rear end it propelled us, across 2 lanes, into the side of a tractor trailor. We bounced off the trailers wheels and ended up on the other side of the freeway. If it wasn't for the stability and sturdiness of the car we would surely be dead. I didn't think about it until later.........not one airbag deployed!!the rear impact head rest engaged. I just figured hitting the entire right side of the car (with both of the trailer tires indenting in the passenger side) at minimum speed of 70mph, the side impact air bags should have deployed. Not really complaining. But maybe something to look into. The jeep was repaired and im still in love with it.i'm not uploading photos. If there are any questions, i have photos and all documentation, just email me.
The contact rented a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 40 mph, a vehicle heading in the opposite direction with an intoxicated driver crossed into the jeep patriot's lane causing a head on collision and the air bags did not deploy.the driver and the front passenger sustained fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle also sustained fatal injuries and a passenger sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to the rental company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable...updated 04/19/16
Air bag cover rattles over 45 mph has been doing this since mileage of about 1000check engine light comes on with code p0128 faulty thermostat 2 times in the last month pulls to left over 60 mph has been doing this since june has been back to dealership 2x
The air bag spring has failed, apparently due to metal fatigue, in my 2015 jeep patriot.this renders the horn non-functioning and may also make the air bag not function.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph and avoiding a crash with a vehicle in front, the brake pedal was depressed and the brakes seized. In addition, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver in order to veer to the side. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front. The air bags failed to deploy. There was a police report filed. The contact sustained neck and right shoulder injuries which required medical attention. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.
"takata recall" on february 27, 2016, my car, jeep patriot, that i was not drivingwas crashed and demolished by another driver's car, while my fiance was driving it on an unmarked city street intersection, and she was hurt, because, the airbags did not deploy.some 60 days prior to the 2/27/16 accident, my car was hit by another car as it was parked with my fiance inside, and the airbags did not deploy.twice the airbags did not deploy, and i maintain chrysler sold me a defective vehicle, and owes me another vehicle, that will deploy the airbags in the event i am driving, and another driver hits me.the second crash of the two(2)demolished my jeep patriot.my jeep was struck at the left wheel, and a portion of the door on the driver's side of the vehicle.when, my jeep was struck the first time, the repair person, stated, it was strange, that the airbags did not deploy, and a similar statement was made by the investigator, for the at fault driver's insurance company, that, he wondered; why the airbags did not deploy, when my jeep patriot was crashed, and demolished.
Takata recall

The manufacturer was unable to provide a reasonable time frame to supply the parts and remedy. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While traveling approximately 65 mph, the brake pedal was applied and did not respond in enough time to stop the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the side of a truck and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the chest and both hands were swollen which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a yard. A police report was filed. Hit a deer head on brakes failed the had to pull emergency brake for car to stop rightside passenger side airbag never deployed
Headrest safety system deployed by itself.
Heater stop working
Etc and engine lightremains on when running. Light flashing on and off the vehicle stall and reduced performance,an elevated/rough idle and vehicle stall and have no speed and have pull over in traffic. The 2015 only have 3500 miles should not be having a safety issue i could have got run over by the incoming highway traffic.
I bought my 2015 jeep patriot on july 4, 2020. Every since i've had my truck, there has been problems. I have taken my truck to 4 mechanics and they can't seem to find a problem. Also the dealership that i got the truck from has not even tried to contact me back about them fixing it for me. I'm stuck with a vehicle that doesn't work at this point.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to turn in either direction, the vehicle stalled and independently restarted without warning. The failure was intermittent. Fox chrysler dodge jeep ram located at 3844 plainfield ave ne, grand rapids, mi 49525, was contacted and informed of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was informed that the vin was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Turning lights on in the car and the dash lights flash 5 - 6 times then go out. Doesn't matter if vehicle is stationary or moving when this occurs.headlights, radio & dome light still work as well as turn signals and 4-way flashers. When lights are on, i do not have any running lights, tail lights, interior dash lights or cup holder lights. Checked all fuses and all checked good. All indications point to bad totally integrated power module (tipm). Vehicle is 2 years old with no after market wiring. Not having running or tail lights is a big safety issue/concern.
Vehicle fails to start multiple times when the battery and starter are in good condition. Common fixes that are recommended are replacing the wcm or the relay box. Sometimes the vehicle will start after multiple times and leaving the key cranked for 20 seconds+, but this isn't always reliable. Brought it into the shop and they couldnt recreate the issue, so it was never resolved for my case.
Shortly after purchase of new 015 jeep patriot, water started to penetrate inside of car. Oming through front interior lamp. Took to dealership, found out clog in drain of sunroof. 'fixed' then appx 6 months later, sae leak started. Tried a diffrent dealership trying to actually get it fixed for good, they said it was 'fixed' but problem happened again. This continued for three yeas. Brought to 3-4 dealerships plus had 2 private techs looked at it. I contacted chrysler corp andthey 'assigned a case manager' to oversee repair but dealer stated that clog was found again, gave car back as 'fixed' but at delivery, water was still leaking out of interior lamp. Dealer said 'only residual and nothing he can do about it' i asked several times and suggested there should be a recall. This vehicle has been such trouble for th past three years. Water flows all down the dash and electrial components. If you google, you will see hundreds of patriot owners have the same problem. The only 'fix' that dealership/'water specialists ' have ever performed is 'clearing clog drain of sunroof. I am not sure why it keeps clogging. The last dealer stated that it is general maintenance. I hve owned many cars wth sunroofs nd have never had to clear drain as general maintentance. This problem occurs if vehicle is statioery or in motion. It has occurred while driving on a majory highway causing great distraction.
2015 jeep patriot high altitude; complete power loss while driving @ 45 mph. Vehicle shut down and lost all power while in motion. While driving straight down a local road, my vehicle shut off & lost all power. The radio went off, my dashboard warning lights illuminated, all gauges went down as if the vehicle was in park & not in use. This vehicle is a danger on the roads. Dealership has said vehicle, but will not reveal if vehicle is infact defective. I purchased this vehicle in june 2015, brand new. This vehicle has been to the dealership for repair nearly 10 seperate times. This vehicle is unsafe & shut off on me while moving. There are many reports of " engine failure " for the 2015 jeep patriot. My vehicle is one of many that is unsafe, and shut off while in motion. Extremely dangerous. Fca llc, should have all 2015 patriot jeeps recalled. They are building dangerous & potentially life threatening vehicles. Fca must be held accountable for a recall. Dealership has possession of my vehicle & it will not be driven by myself until they can duplicate the engine failure.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while driving approximately 45 mph. The failure occurred without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to be operated after it was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a crack position sensor circuit. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while driving approximately 25 mph. The failure mileage was approximately 17,686.
The car has had several problems with steering engine heating and now throttle.
On march 8, 2019, while driving at approximately 45 mph on a rural road, the engine stalled causing the car to lose power steering and the rpms to drop to 0. There was no check engine light indication that anything was wrong. On this occasion i was unable to restart the vehicle and had it towed to the dealership for repairs. The dealership stated that the battery failed diagnostic tests and replaced the battery. On march 22, 2019 while idling at a red light, the engine stalled again causing the rpms to drop to 0. I attempted to restart the vehicle and after two attempts the vehicle restarted and a check engine light was illuminated. I was able to drive to the nearest dealership where it was diagnosed that the camshaft/crankshaft sensor was malfunctioning. After subsequent research i located safety recall s89 / nhtsa 16-v-907 crankshaft camshaft sensor wire harness issued in february 2017 affecting 2016 dodge journey, 2016 jeep compass and 2016 jeep patriot.
Takata recall our radio stop working, then the horn, then the air bag light came on and stays on. The next thing to go out was the power train control module, jeep paid for that but we had to pay for the throttle body, which wasn't cheap 573.00. And still did not fix radio, horn, or airbag light. I was at a intersection when this happened.
My daughter was driving in motion in her 2015 patriot when simultaneously the electronic throttle control light, check engine and traction control icons all came on. Suddenly the car started to lose power and jerking slowly back and forth. She was able to get it to a firestone and the service tech said it looks like failure to the throttle control. This should be looked at carefully since the driver loses control with no power of the vehicle in the middle of the road. Many people report this same problem on carproblemzoo.com
The vehicle randomly started dropping to 0 rpm during different speeds and situations (some 30mph, some 60mph, some turning, some going straight, but never stalled while stopped) on and off for a week with no check engine light or fault codes present. Driving on the freeway 8 months pregnant going 65mph the jeep stalled out and then the check engine light came on. It showed up as a crankshaft sensor fault, we replaced the crankshaft sensor and now it is stuck in tip start mode and will not start! this is the 3rd brand sensor that has been tried. This is very similar to the 2016 recall issue (safety recall s89 / nhtsa 16v-907 crankshaft camshaft sensor wire harness) there have been numerous safety complaints about the 2015 jeep patriot having reoccurring similar issues and nothing has been done. This is a 1 owner purchased brand new vehicle that has been cared for properly and has had more issues than a 5 year old vehicle should. Stalling out at 65mph on the freeway while 8 months pregnant could of killed me and my unborn child. This issue needs to be addressed before it's too late.
Takata recall: computer errors, power connection errors, power steering errors, transmission replacement x1, power fuse box x1, steering/suspension/steering wheel errors. All of these problems happened within the year of purchasing this vehicle dealerships are no help and i am still making payments on a car i can not drive the repairs are way to high theses problems have no explanation they just keep popping up with out warning.
Vehicle hesitates while accelerating on flat or inclined ground. The electronic throttle control (etc) indicator light will come during the hesitation and go off when power resumes. See attached photo for reference. On more than one occasion the red light has come on and the car has gone into limp mode. When this happens the traction an check engine light will come on. The car can be turned off and back on and this occasionally clears it. At times an obd-ii computer must be used to clear the codes and then resume driving. This has happened sporadically since 2018.
Vehicle stalled and lurched upon acceraling from a traffic red light. The electric throttle light appeared on dashboard. Purchased with loan four days ago. Initially same thing occurred with high rpm as well. No warning light came on at first. Fifth day of driving this revealed the warning light on dashboard. Dealer indicated recall fixed prior to sale. Vehicle warning light still appears. Rpms too high on acceleration.repair shop indicated the recall did not fix issue and needs to have jeep dealer check it.
While driving in heavy traffic, the vehicle suddenly shut off, the steering locked and i was extremely luckily. Immediately after, absolutely nothing happened when turning the key. Also no horn, no lights ... Nothing. A similar thing happened 2 years ago and the jeep dealer stated it was a computer issue.
I was on my way to take my son to school, when while on a busy city street my car started to jerk, and suddenly i was no longer to acceralate. I was literally scared for my life and my child, as the speed of my car slowed down so fast, that i almost got rearended. When my car slowed down and could no longer acceralate, my check engine, electric throttle control, and traction control lights all came on. It was very odd as this has never happened before. I read and seen that there are hundreds of people having this same issue. This is very concerning. I'm surprised that no one has been killed due to this, i could not imagine if i was the highway behind a big rig and my speed quickly dropped like that or if someone was riding my tail, there is no way they would have been able to slow down quick enough to prevent from hitting me. I seen that people with jeeps have been having this issue, regardless of the year of the patriot. There needs to be a recall on this part.
While randomly driving my check engine light and throttle light comes on. I've had my car to the dealer multiple times. The codes are p2135 and p0121. Dealer said they can't find anything wrong. They didn't clear the code. Went home and slept, next morning the lights are off. This has been a continuous issue. They replaced the throttle body december 2018, my gas pedal 2 months ago and part of my computer over a month ago and this is still happening. I've read in a bunch of forums this is common but no one has a solution. Dealer said my wiring harness was fine and they can't find the problem but don't want to replace the throttle position sensor even though it's under warranty. Help
I bought this car in mid feb, but only one week after purchasing, the car can not start and was towed to the dealer. The dealer said the totally integrated power module has experienced an short and they have to replace a new one. I waited one week and the car is still in the dealer. I do not know how long i still need to wait.
While leaving a parking lot on or about april 15 2019, the vehicle kept killing when i attempted to accelerate. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership. We were told that the pcm had shorted out and had to be replaced. The new pcm was installed on april 20, 2019. The same problem started again on april 24, 2019. The vehicle had to be towed again to the dealership. The dealership traced the wires in the vehicle for over a week and contacted me on may 1, 2019 stating that they had determined that there was problem with the ignition coil which was corrected. We picked up the vehicle at approxiimately 5:00 p.m.on may 1st, drove the vehicle home about 10 miles, tried starting the vehicle 1 hour later and the same problem again. We will now have to have the vehicle towed for the 3rd time for the same issue. Why haven't the 2015 jeep patriots been recalled?
Tipm is faulty after only 79,000 miles on the car.
A circuit wire corroded and shorted the tipm. This happened at home. The car was stored in the garage. The car wouldn't start. I had it towed to the dealership. When connected to the dealer diagnostics it showed no error codes. When the mechanic replaced the wire at the dealership service shop the starter ran non stop without the key in the ignition. I am unaware if the car starter also came on without the key when i was not near the vehicle. This vehicle does not have remote start. It is driven on paved rides and stored in a garage.i am the second owner. Less than two weeks prior to this shorted tipm the vehicle was serviced at the same dealer for a factory recall to change the catalytic converter and to do a computer software update.
Driving vehicle along the highway and it completely shut off. Had to put the vehicle in neutral to pull over to the side of the highway.
Car began to rev up while idle and electronic throttle light came on. Once i started to drive the car began to lose acceleration. This occurred in the middle of the road at several red lights after being stopped. Took to shop and they said this was a known issue with this car. The throttle body had to be replaced.
I was driving on a busy road and without any warning my jeep just stalled. I lost all engine power, power steering and brakes. I pulled over to the side ofvthe road. I put car in park and turned the key to off position. Tried to restart and it would not, but continued to try to start by itself. Which in turn killed the battery. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. This happened today which is a saturday and maybe they will get to look at it on monday. This really scared me as i was almost rear ended. Thank god my daughter was not with me as it was only 5 degrees and snowing.
When driving the car there was a periodic jerk and than it began to loose acceleration.no matter how much i pressed on gas it wouldn't go and than it just died.they thought it was battery so we replaced battery and alternator. Still having issues with the periodic jerk and the battery light now comes on and off.this needs to be looked at.
...has there been a recall issued on the jeep patriot concerning the rear hatch allowing water into the rear latch causing the interior lights to remain on? my wife had this happen and the interior lights caused her problems with driving at night until the repair was made. My mechanic stated that he had to perform this fix on 5 jeeps within a month. I contacted chrysler about this and the employee stated that they had several complaints about this as well...
My jeep patriot will stall out on me unexpectedly while driving. I have had thousands of work done on it just for it to continue to happen. No shop has been able to figure out what is wrong due to no code showing up.it has been overheating on me and has been causing me to throw away a lot of money. I am very upset about this and the fact that there is nothing happening and all of these complaintsis ridiculous!!
For the past several months we are having trouble with the computer issue with this vehicle. We took it to a repair shop and they confirmed, in fact one of the mechanics had the very same problem, that the computer is malfunctioning.here is what is happening...the car won't start and as you turn the key it just hesitates and you pray it will start.the a/c won't come on...the clock on the dash does not show the correct time...the "bell" dings when you exit the vehicle even though there is no key in the ignition, the lights have been turned off, etc.it won't stop dinging until you shut the door.also, the rear window defogger indicator light is flashing like warning you to turn it off. Also, the cd player won't eject a cd.then come a few days later and none of this happens.it is always a gamble when you get in the jeep wondering if it will start.i feel, since this has happened to other jeeps, there should be a recall on this particular situation.
When it rains water leaks into the rear dome light and drips into the inside of my jeep. The light doesn't work because of this and i would think this would be an electrocution hazard. I can't have anything in the back of my jeep that could be ruined by rain water.
The second to the last day of hunting season my husband. And i went up above our house, about 15 miles, we were in light snow, and i could not get the throttle to engage caused us to slide back a little again tried to use throttle to go, my husband saw a wisp of smoke on passenger side, i immediately turned the engine off, my husband looks under where the smoke came from and the rack n pinion boot where on fire, i popped the hood, flames were to hot for him to open the hood. I walked down the road to safety, as my husband got out what he could of our belongingsout and into the snow bank. And in that few minutes the flames were inside the cab and windows were exploding, next the tires andthe paint etc.....the spare tire also blew from the back of the car. My husband leftbefore the gas tank blew if it did we don't know. We had to walk 15 miles soaking wet .we are both disabled with neck and back injuries. This jeep is our only vehicle. I would like to request an investigation. What worries us is that had someone been confined by wheel chair or children in a car seat this would have been a deadly accident.
I was driving on a freeway (about 60 miles per hour) and all of a sudden my car 's lights on the dashboard came on (engine, electronic stability, lightening bolt) the power seemed to be draining from my vehicle, i could not longer accelerate. I almost got hit in the back, luckily there was an exit that was close so the car behind me was able to take a forced exit to avoid from hitting me. Unable to determine what happened, i turned on my hazards and pull over on the shoulder and turned my car off. I waited for about 10 minutes and hesitantly decided to try to restart the car. I was able to restart it, only to go about 2 miles and it happen again. I exited the freeway and took back streets all the way home to keep me from getting into a wreck. This continued to happen about 4 times until i made it home and park it. This car has been a headache ever since i bought it brand new. One month after i bought it, the gas tank sunk and pretty much fell into the car so deep that i could no longer get the pump to the tank to fill gas. About a week after that, the wheels started squealing, and this was unable to be fixed. The bolts that are used under the hood do not fit the car so things would constantly loosen as i drove it and eventually are repositioned even though they are replaced by the service departments at the jeep dealerships. There's substance much like adhesive glue throughout the car on certain parts which doesn't make sense if this car was bought brand new. All around poorly made car, you will end up paying the double the amount valued based on the repairs. Horrible. Hold this maker accountable, there should be a recall on this vehicle. Lives are at danger.
Our 2015 jeep patriot 4wd is shutting off randomly without warning while driving it!! in the middle of driving itwill just randomly shift off without warning!all the lights will turn on then the car will shut off sometimes in the middle of traffic!! this is extremely dangerous as it is putting not only our lives at risk for a crash but also those drivers around us as well. Once the car shuts itself off it will not turn on for 30 minutes or so leaving us stranding sometimes in the middle of traffic even!! we have a 4 year old that is in the car with us most of the time when this is happening as well and is putting her life at risk of a serious crash as well!!the 2016 jeep patriot has a recall for this exact problem that our 2015 is having!it has happened multiple times over the past year and continues to happen more frequently once every 2 weeks now.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. Occasionally, the vehicle failed to start on the first attempt. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.
Etc light was coming on, car would not accelerate as should when gas pedal was pressed. Car would jerk forward as if was about to die. Trying to get onto highway is always sketchy. Finally went completely out and leaving me broke down in middle of 5 o'clock traffic after taking to dealership and being told nothing was wrong but needed a new battery went ahead and paid for just for it to all continue. Finally told throttle body was an issue. Got the entire unit replaced by dealership not just the sensor and not even a year later same thing is happening again. Hundreds of others on forums for the jeep patriot no matter the year are having the same issues over and over! it's not safe! someone needs to take this seriously. Not to mention it should never had happened to a 2 year old vehicle! if we want these problems we would purchase used cars. Now i am in fear of it doing it again because it's driving the same not going when gassed jerking forward, even in idle, not just for safety reasons for financial reasons as well. How can do many different year models have the same issues and this not be a mopar recall
Back right turn signal stays on & won't blink for turns or hazard... Shop says there's short on circuit & whole tipm (power module ) needs replacing... On the internet i'm seeing lawsuits about this issue & dealerships have claimed that chrysler/ jeep will be issuing recalls but none are coming up for my vin
On multiple occasions i have had trouble starting the jeep. It appears to have power but the engine light comes on and the car won't start. I have taken it to the dealership for repair several times but they have been unable to accurately diagnose and repair the problem. The electrical problems are now getting worse. The jeep has completely lost power while running and i've have also experience problems with unlocking the door. The throttle control warning has starting coming in during some of these episodes. Despite numerous attempts to resolve these issues through the dealership and directly through chrysler, i still have a vehicle that is completely unsafe to drive. I have made the issues i'm experiencing well known. This vehicle should not be driven until the electrical problems are completely resolved. I'm shocked that jeep/chrysler would allow such an unsafe vehicle on the road.
Electronic throttle control keeps acting up. The light flashes on as it loses power then it will run fine for a little bit and do it again. There is no code. I keep getting hesitations in the jeep. It will hiccup along the highway or as i try to accelerate. There is no specific time when it happens. I have already had the wire harness replaced in my jeep a year ago.
Over the past month the throttle body control light, check engine light, and traction control light has come on when i go to accelerate.just like others have reported, it comes on when i'm driving on the highway & just dies, you can't steer the car or anything.or you go to accelerate and it dies & you almost get rear-ended.i cannot believe how many reports are on here similar to mine and there has been no recall although it looks like there was one for the 2016 patriot.what will it take, someone dying?this is a huge safety issue when your car will just die while driving 65-70 mph & you can't steer or anything!
My car is 2 years old and my brake pads have been replaced three times in addition to new getting new rotors. Problems started occurring when i only had my car for 6 months and whenever i brake, it sounds like metal grinding on metal. Neither my dealership nor jeep themselves have a reasonable explanation for this problem. It is completely unacceptable for a brand new car. In addition, my car has also had problems starting. Within the last two weeks, i have had two instances of trying to turn my car on and the battery came on, but the car did not make any attempt to turn-over. It took multiple attempts to actually get it started. Before now, my car has had a few instances where it takes a while for it to turn over, which it eventually did come on, but it was struggling and i could tell it was very weak.
This vehicleintermittently stalls. The vehicle stalled in multiple different conditions including slow driving and at highway speeds and on level or inclines/declines. The vehicle would be functioning properly and then completely stall and shut off which was very dangerous at highway speeds because there was a loss of power brakes and steering.there is a recall for this make and model for the year 2016 (safety recall s89 / nhtsa 16v-907crankshaft camshaft sensor wire harness). This is the exact issue that is wrong with our vehicle, but it is a 2015 model year. The dealership did not fix the issue on our first repair visit and so we were put at safety risk again when the vehicle stalled until bringing it in a second time. This is a very dangerous situation and jeep needs to address this issue.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the headlights, turn signals, horn, heated seating, and windshield wipers stopped working. The contact stated that the vehicle had been to the dealer four times, but the failure had not been repaired. The contact believed the issue was within the instrument cluster, but the dealer had not made that determination. The failure mileage was 3,000. Ma 08/06/15the consumer stated on november 22, 2015 he experienced the same recurring problem that was supposedly fixed the last several times it happened. Updated 12/07/15.updated 10/17/2017
My car was in motion and i lost power while merging onto the highway and i was unable to get the car started back up. I got the car towed and when it arrived at the mechanic it started back up just fine, they were unable to duplicate the issue as no error message was on my dashboard, therefore their diagnostic device could not figure out what caused my car to stall. The mechanic kept my car for a while and it finally gave out on them again and they discovered by throttle body had gone out. I had this issue in may of 2017 and had it fixed at a jeep dealership and less than 3 years later my car has the very same issue.
While driving on highway and city streets, car has completely shut down without warning or warning lights, no engine, no power steering no electrical anything.this is a death trap and serious bodily harm waiting to happen. Highly dangerous, especially on highway.this has happened at least 8 times and has been into the jeep dealer 4 times to get fixed, to no avail.it keeps happening and is now back at the dealer.last time, they replaced abs module and bled system.still didn't work. Lots of complaints of this online over many years. Date it happened is first time, but it is now in shop for the 4th time.2016 jeep patriots were recalled for this very problem, but no other year. Why?!!!
This happened a few times when i first bought the truck, now it's all the time. Try to start it, it doesn't want to turn over . You can play with the steering wheel and then it starts. Getting harder and harder to crank over. Started mid july and has continued
The crankshaft sensor failed causing the engine to stop while driving without warning on a city street in boston. The car was brought to the nearest garage where they replaced the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor, but then an engine code came up saying that the accelerator pedal also needed to be replaced.i am unsure if this was related to the crankshaft sensor issue or just a coincidence.the car then had to be towed to a jeep dealer to replace the accelerator pedal and relearn the sensors.i noticed there was a recall on 2016 jeep patriots for the same crankshaft problem but no recall has been issued for the same problem occurring in 2015 jeep patriots.the engine died without warning and it is fortunate that this happened at ~20mph, it would have been disastrous at highway speeds.
The car has had several problems with steering engine heating and now throttle.
I was driving on a street in a residential area and my jeep started to jerk all of a sudden. I was no longer able to accelerate. This started happening in may and the last time is happened was june 22 2020. Jeep needs to put out a recall asap!
Driving on a city street going 45mph when randomly car acceleration just dropped down to about 25mph. Can't accelerate car feels like is barely got any acceleration power. Esc and etc lights turn on.
I've had my jeep for one year when one day a red lightening bolt and an engine light appeared on my dashboard. No acceleration or power. I had to keep cutting my car on and off in order to make it home. I had to take it to the shop the next day where i had to pay lots of money to replace the throttle body unit. 2 years later even after replacing my engine (due to an accident) the same light has appeared again. Jeep we need answers? sounds like a pretty common problem.
I purchased a 2015 jeep patriot and my wife today, 9/12/2019, merely avoided a traffic collision caused by a throttle body and electronic throttle body defect which appears to be common with this type of vehicle.
While driving i made a right turn and then the "tire light" began to flash and a warning sound was heard then the "traction control light" began to flash and alert sound was heard and then a "red lightning bolt" warning light was flashing on the dashboard and the "engine light" turned on, all lights were lit up and the engine stalled and couldn't get passed 20mph even thought the accelerator was almost to the floor. The vehicle has only less than 32000 miles, and has had its regular maintenance. I've seen several similar complaints on jeep patriot forums and seen that the 2014 and 2016 had recalls for this or related issue. When stopping the vehicle idles high and still moves even though the brake is fully pressed, and the temperature rises fast. I was driving at night on a city street so luckily the wasn't much traffic. The lights came on before i lost engine power and i shut off the vehicle and turned it back on and they went away but that didn't happen the second time it occurred, the lights stayed on and that's when i also lost engine power and the vehicle would stall. Moves fine in reverse but because the vehicle is idling really high it takes off in reverse by itself without using the accelerator.
April 2017, while driving on the freeway jeep started to shake. Etc and engine light were lit up, car would not accelerate. Pulled over at nearest exit. Shut off car and tried to restart, car would not start. Dealership determined that throttle body needed to be replaced. August 2018, while waiting at stop light i started to make a right turn. Car was shaking and did not want to accelerate. Traction control and engine light turned on. Had to shut off vehicle and restart in the middle of a city street. Car restarted, the next day only engine light stayed on. While at stop light and foot on the break the engine shut off. All lights and radio stayed on. Restarted car, driving fine. Took it to dealership, they replaced the throttle body again (and wanted to do so at my expense). While attempting to return my car, it shut off on them. They returned it to me saying it had been fixed. Next day problem persisted and became more frequent. Took back to the dealership, they replaced sensor cam and sensor cra to my expense. Now my breaks are shaking. It's a three year old car. I'm the second owner. It shouldn't be having these types of problems. I'm not spending more money at the dealership. I'm selling the vehicle. I'll be sure to never purchase jeep or any other chrysler brands.
2015 jeep patriot has stalled, lost power, and shut down on me multiple times while driving. The vehicle remained in motion on the street and highway.
On 11/5/18, my fianc was driving on the freeway, about 65 miles an hour, when the car engine completely shut off. This caused the power steering to stop working. She was barely able to coast off of the freeway, struggling to steer it, without hitting other vehicles on the busy freeway. It sat for four hours, and then it started again. It has shut off while driving at least four times in a week, on city streets and stop lights, and wouldn't start numerous times the car only has about 35,000 miles on it. It was taken to the jeep dealership in woodbridge va., for a sensor chip replacement on 11/10/18. That evening, after taking it home, it wouldn't start. It will be towed back to the jeep dealership on 11/12/18. There seems to be numerous complaints about this vehicle shutting off while driving. This is an extreme safety concern, especially on the freeway or with children in the car. I don't understand why this serious problem has not initiated a recall, especially when the mileage on the vehicles people are reporting on are so low, including one with only 11,000 miles.it's obviously a jeep problem. Itshould not take a fatality in order to initiate a recall.
During driving, the car stalls out, rpm goes to zero and it fluctuates randomly even during higher speeds on highways and streets. This risks an auto accident due to losing power at speeds of up to 70 mph.
My abs and electric stability control sensors lights have been over for the past couple of weeks. My brakes has been giving me some resistance and sometimes it's hard to press the brake pedal.
I was driving the car and it started to come to a stop while driving. The etc light cameon then went out. I shut the car off and restarted then it went for2 miles and stopped yet again in moving traffic. This is dangerous and no one seems to know why it's doing this.jeep needs t find out what is causing the issue.
Jeep patriot converter recallmy 2015 jeep patriot completely shut down on me and was unable to be put into either a drive or reverse option. The jeep shut down and could not be driven due to the cadillac converter. The transmission on the jeep became physically torn into pieces while it was overworked due to the converter issue, and my exhaust system was overworked. Acceleration became an issue as well. Had to have the jeep towed, and repaired with high costs due to the serious problem of it not being driveable. I had the converter replaced, the transmission replaced, and other small repairs in order to fix it and save it.i have not had any issue with the engine as of yet, and am hoping to avoid any in the future. I just became aware of the national recall for jeep patriots and their converter malfunctions. Please advise me how i can go about sending my receipts for these repairs to be reimbursed.
I have only 36,000 miles on my 2015 jeep patriot. On a trip from pennsylvania to georgia, halfway there, the etc light and the esc came on. I had to pull over every 45 to 50 miles to reset it. I had to take it to a mechanic. This will cost over $500. The mechanic said this should not happen with only 36,000 miles. Why, with many complaints, would this not be a recall?
In dec of 2017 i started driving my car and all of a sudden while driving i lost power and wouldn't accelerate. I had it towed to the dealer and the dealer notified me it was the etc control. Today 02/05/20 i got in my car to leave for work and 5 mins into driving again lights turn on check engine light, etc light (lightening bolt), and stability light came on and again lost power and went from 25 mph to 5 mph. I had to pull over and turn off my car and start it again to be able to get it to my house but had to do this 3 times to get it to my house which was 5 mins away. This is the 2nd time within 2year that this is happening to me. There is so many complaints regarding this on this vehicle. We buy a car for it to be reliable to go to and from work instead im constantly driving nervously wondering if ill be on a high way going from 60 mph to 10 mph and if someone will crash into me. I can provide dealer reports if needed
Takata recall electronic throttle light keeps coming on cause the car to lose speed and eventually stall as the weather changes. While car is in motion once reaching above 40 miles per hour.
I was driving when all of sudden my jeep patriot started slowing down, limp and a bit out of my control. 3 lights turned on simultaneously. I pulled over to the side of the road. My engine started shaking and my jeep sounded odd so i turned it off. I waited a bit and turned it back on. I was able to drive it back home safely as i was less than a mile away. I started doing research and found that many jeep patriot owners have gone through the same thing. Apparently it's a throttle body issue that jeep has failed to recall or take acrion on. I had to pick up my son from school and this time the jeep went limp after less than half of a mile of driving. I struggled to take my car back home and had to keep turning on and off my car. This is very dangerous i was very lucky to just be in my neighborhood. I bought this car in july. These sort of issues shouldn't already be happening. I now will have to take it to a mechanic and spend hundreds of dollars for something i am not responsible for.
Vehicle was in motion on a residential street doing about 25 mph and all the sudden my engine shut off. My traction control light came on. I could not steer the car and my brakes would not work. Luckily i was on a residential street and was able to stop and restart my car.
Since june 2018 i've experienced on going issues with the engine/transmission. While driving the entire front end starts to shake, all the lights on the dashboard come on and then the car stalls. I loose the ability to accelerate and steer during this time. First time this happened i was in delaware on the highway, they replaced the throttle body. Since then the car skips during deceleration mostly when the gears shift in traffic, going on rotaries or attempting to come off /on ramp.. Went to my usual mechanics ran codes ended up replacing sensor in the engine. The car again starts to skip and has ongoing issues accelerating. This is incredibly dangerous i've almost been in a couple accidents from when it decides it's time to accelerate, random engine shut off and inability to accelerate when it matters. I called jeep apparently they are having lots of issues related to this.
Car began to rev up while idle and electronic throttle light came on. Once i started to drive the car began to lose acceleration. This occurred in the middle of the road at several red lights after being stopped. Took to shop and they said this was a known issue with this car. The throttle body had to be replaced.
So i made a complaint about the same issue but today i have an actual engine code that was pulled up after being rear-ended due to the stalling. It's code p0335 and it's the crankshaft position sensor which is already recalled for the exact make and model in the 2016 version and needs to be recalled immediately for 2015 because if there are any complaints of stalls it's because of this issue. Until this issue is addressed to me and my kid and anyone else who has this problem and car is at risk
I am seeing many similar complaints about this vehicle. My 2015 jeep patriot used to kick back while i was accelerating which developed into a stall after a couple of months. I took it to a shop and they gave me new spark plugs and cleaned my air intake valves in hopes that it would fix the issue. The car gives no warning or code to describe what is happening. For about a week there were no issues and then it stalled on me twice today and power steering goes out. I was stopped at a red light and accelerated once it turned green but it stalled before i could make it all the way through the intersection. I could barely steer out of the way of other vehicles, have to put my car in park and shut it off. Then i have to sit there for a couple minutes before restarting the car. This is a huge safety issue and i am afraid to drive my car especially during rush hour.

I was sitting stationary leaving out of a parking lot waiting to turn right onto a main road from a business. As traffic cleared and i began to pull into traffic numerous malfunction lights showed on the dash, some solid and one flashing, and the vehicle would not accelerate. I lost all throttle control and the vehicle would only idle or very slightly accelerate to 1-2 mph. This caused other cars on the road to brake aggressively or change lanes to avoid hitting me. I was able to idle to the next entrance and pull the car over and park it. Was necessary to recover the vehicle to a repair facility and was diagnosed as an internally failed throttle motor causing the vehicle to go into "limp mode". The local jeep dealer had the new throttle motor in stock indicating to me this is a known and common parts failure. This situation was very dangerous and could have ended up much worse.
Vehicle shuts off while driving. Engine light turns on for a day or sothen turns off.error code: p0335 crankshaft position sensor a circuit.
Catastrophic failure of throttle control while driving down the highway. Vechile began to sputter and immediately flashed the lightning bolt warning light dropping from 80mph to 10 mph. This was associated with the vechile violently sputtering.vechile will start but when drive is engaged at low rpm nothing happens. With acceleration the car will sputter and not get past 15 miles per hour. During sputtering no power steering is avalible and braking is made difficult with sputtering.
While on the highway, electronic throttle sensor light comes on. Vehicle starts jerking, slowing, and dies. Causing you to lose steering and adequate brakes.
The engine cuts out and stalls as you are driving, this is intermittent but happens often
Why?!!!

The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was possibly caused by either a camshaft or crankshaft position sensor failure, a throttle body assembly failure, or a vacuum leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000. The vin was not available.
Driving on the highway at 55 mph the jeep stalled.i almost got rearended.after a few minutes it did start again. Again it happened on a city street at 35 mph.the jeep stalled. It would not start again.i had to get it towed to the dealership .
While in motion on a major highway the car has unexpectedly lost power. This has not been a one time issue. This has happened while turning, while driving on a city street, driving up a hill, and all other instances where your car is in motion. I am terrified to be in the car, but this our only means of transportation. The dealership that services us has told us that many other 2015 jeep patriots are having this same issue and chrysler refuses to fix the problem. He said that it could be the throttle body or possibly something else- the diagnostic test showed elusive results. The man who looked at the jeep said that he contacted chrysler hoping that they would "goodwill" the needed repairs, as we just passed the warranty by 1000 miles. Chrysler refused despite this man's persistency to assist us. But our jeep nightmare does not end there. Before 15,000 miles, a brand new transmission had to be put in. Now at 37,000 miles the car is presenting transmission issues and throttle body issues. We were advised not to drive the car as it has proven itself to be unsafe, and as i mentioned previously this is our only way of transportation. So now we are staring at our parked car that sometimes does not even start, while making payments on said vehicle, which has been deemed too unsafe to drive, paying additional money to be driven around to work and school, and dealing with substandard customer service. What a joy!

Second time vehicle shut off while driving. First time 5/8/17. Dealer reprogrammed pcm, tcm, ccn, and wcm. 77 miles later shut off while driving. Both times three year old in vehicle. No prior warning. No warning lights, noise ect. Very unsafe condition. Back to dealer tomorrow. Lucky going at slow speed on secondary roads at both times.

The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While the contact's daughter was driving various speeds or while the vehicle was stopped, it stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but did not assist. The contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Vehicle began stalling while driving without warning, stalled on busy roads, on hills, turning corners, ect.stalling occurred at infrequent intervals.sometimes 3 times a day, then wouldn't happen for a few weeks. Sometimes the traction control light would come on after the stalling.sometimes the car would start right back up when i put it in park or neutral and turned the key, but then die again after traveling 50-100 feet.mechanics unable to diagnosis problem because no engine light would come on and no error report was generated .finally, after 2 months of trouble, the car finally showed an engine error code after stalling.code was for the crankshaft sensor.had it repaired for $162.40.very dangerous situation when your car dies in heavy traffic and there is no area to safely coast to out of the way of danger. Always fearful of getting rear-ended. Mechanics can't fix the problem because they don't know what the cause is until there is an engine light on.there are complaints on the internet about it, but jeep hasn't warned customers of the problem.
Perform poorly sluggish ,,takes off slow after stopping ,slow changing gears ,have only 28000 miles and front end wheels seem to have problem ,when backing up turning wheels there seems to be something rubbing or srubbing.i purchase this jeep in 2015 brand new ,and have notice few problems with it .
Driving vehicle along the highway and it completely shut off. Had to put the vehicle in neutral to pull over to the side of the highway.
I've had to replace the throttle body twice in 9 months with 90k mileage and it still stutters after both replacements.
2015 jeep patriot had a problem starting two days prior to the event. It would not turn over while parked. After waiting five minutes, i turned the key again and it started. Then, two days later while driving about 60 mph on the freeway, the vehicle stalled while i was accelerating. For the next 20 seconds it oscillated between accelerating and coasting while i held my foot on the gas pedal. As i coasted towards an upcoming off-ramp, i lost power steering. Once i was off the freeway, i had to coast into a parking lot and had the vehicle towed to a chrysler dodge jeep ram dealership. They ran their "diagnostic tests" and found nothing. They test drove the car for 10 miles and were unable to recreate the issues. They updated the pcm and tcm and ran their computer diagnostic tests again. Nothing was found. I feel incredibly unsafe driving my jeep patriot now. I escalated the issue to chrysler customer care who was unable to do anything to help me until the problems are recreated and documented by a dealership. This is a known problem with jeeps. 2016 jeep patriots were recalled for this very reason. Why is nothing being done about this?
My jeep starts stalling and shuts down with no warning. It is completely dangerous and needs to be fixed. We have spent over a thousand dollars fixing this issue.as we are driving the car stalls then completely shuts down, no warning causes people to slam on breaks or swerve to not hit into. This has been happening for months
Abount three months ago the jeep stated to stale as i was driving on a city street as i pulled over it just died no warning lights came on i towed it to my house then tried it after a few days and like nothing then it started overheating soi parked it again waited a day tryed it again and ever since nothing it cranks but wont turn over its just dead the milage is at 47000 its been a waste of time money effort very disappointed in this jeep i am on foot something needs to be done to protecte consumers
The catalytic converter needs to be replaced. The is a problem identified under a recall for my vehicles make and model but not my vin.
Driving along at speeds of 35 mph, the engine randomly shut off, locked the steering wheel, and came to a stop. This occurred on a residential street. The next day, the same issue occurred on a state route 28. A manual restart of the vehicle was required each time, and the issue occurs daily. This happened several times at various locations, speeds, times of day, etc. This is a life threatening issue.
The contact owned a 2015 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was idling on the freeway in traffic, the contact heard an abnormal noise and observed coming from the vehicle. As a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle and it rolled down the road. The vehicle then caught on fire. There were no warning indicators illuminated. It was unknown if a police report was filed or if there were, any injuries reported. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed destroyed. The dealer (elk grove dodge chrysler jeep, 8575 laguna grove dr, elk grove, ca 95757 916) 405-2600 was contacted and did not assist. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that a complaint would be filed with chrysler. The failure mileage was 18,060. The vin was unavailable. See also 11054782
When in motion - vehicle looses all power on city street-- we brake and stop --- then are able to start it again -- this has happened a few times -- very concerned
On october 3, 2017, while driving stop and go on interstate 5, the engine just stopped and the engine light went on. The water temperature was normal, so i thought it was not an engine problem. This could have been catastrophic, as stopping without warning on an interstate can be a problem. Was able to pull off the road and restart the engine.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. The contact stated that the temperature gauge fluctuated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. During the failure the steering wheel could not be turned in either direction. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer mac haik jeep/chrysler (5255 i-35 georgetown) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 36,000.

The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and was unable to restart. The vehicle had to be jumpstarted. The contact stated that the failure occurred five additional times. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The contact took the vehicle to auto zone and was informed that the crank shaft failed and needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The engine shut off twice without warning while we were on the freeway. The second time the engine stalled was 4 days after we picked the car up from hunter jeep service dept, who told us the issue was repaired and everything was fine now.
Driving the jeep on the road and suddenly it turns off and steering wheel locks up, but before it happens, notice the vehicle jerks.this happen while driving on highway 73 going home from the grocery store.after i turn off the road, turn the key off and sitting there for a few minutes and turn the key, it will start and take me a few blocks and the same thing happens again.have to push the gas pedal to stay on the road.
While i am driving, the car stops running., the engine cuts off. I have to put the car in park or neutral to restart the engine. Sometimes it will start up sometimes i have to wait on it to starts. Today it stopped in the middle of the streetand it did not start back up..the car had to be pushed out the street. My jeep will stop on the expressway while driving up to speed, it will stop on rural streets and while turning left or right it willshut down in the middle of the turn..this is extremely dangerous because it only shuts down when the car is in motion. This has been happening for3 months.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and failed to start. The vehicle was taken to autonation chrysler jeep west (located at 16300 w colfax ave, golden, co 80401, (303) 578-6104), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,767.
While driving down the highway engine just shut off, no warning or lights. Brought into dealer they replaced the pcm module. The following day it did the same thing, brought back to dealer no lights on dash or codes showing up. It happened anytime of dat no matter where i'm at. It almost loses power going up hills but doesn't stall completely until about a mile down road. They can't seem to find the issue. They told me to drive it until it happened again. This is a major safety issue because when it shuts off i loose power steering. I have children i transport everyday. I wish they can find the issue i see im not the only one with this issue.
Two months ago my jeep started bucking violently when driving after it sat for a month being driven maybe once a week. I refilled the tank with premium and it still didn't help. Took it to the shop and they couldn't find a problem. It stopped doing that for for about two weeks but now it stared doing it again. It does it when i'm am accelerating from a slow down and also once i get up to 60 on the highway
The engine on my 2015 jeep patriot dies while i'm driving.this has happened frequently.it typically will happen once the car is warmed up.it will happen most often when i begin to accelerate to merge onto a highway to get to traffic speeds. In this case, the engine will quit and the car will immediately slow.if there is a car behind me, there is no indication to that car that i am immediately slowing.very dangerous! this also happens while i'm travelling at highway speed and the engine just quits and then restarts on its own.i have also experienced this when i slow to stop at a stop sign or stop light.the engine will simply die and must be re-started.
I have about 48000 miles on my car in the last week it's been stalling while driving the engine stalls and it just shuts down i have a young child and it's scary and not safe. It has done it at multiple variations of miles per hour. No warning, engine light flashes once i give it a couple minutes it generally cranks back up and either stalls out again.
Driving on hwy 90 for an hour going 70mph. Loud whining sound started coming from the engine then transmission temperature light came on and vehicle started slowing down even with trying to keep speed. Speed kept decreasing so i pulled over for 20 minutes and went home.
Car began to rev up while idle and electronic throttle light came on. Once i started to drive the car began to lose acceleration. This occurred in the middle of the road at several red lights after being stopped. Took to shop and they said this was a known issue with this car. The throttle body had to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. While making a left turn, the vehicle completely lost power. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving 45 mph on an incline, the electronic throttle control warning indicator illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to coast safely off of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to heritage chrysler jeep dodge ram parkville (9219 harford rd, parkville, md 21234, (866) 492-8843) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
The first time it stalled i was turning a corner onto a main street and it stalled. It did start right back up and ran. The next day i was stopped at a red light and it stalled. The very next red light it stalled again. Both times it started right back up again.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure occurred on two other occasions. The vehicle was taken to parkway chrysler dodge jeep ram (21560 hall rd, charter twp of clinton, mi) where it was diagnosed that the camshaft sensor and crank shaft sensor were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stuttered and failed to accelerate intermittently. In addition, the vehicle stalled without warning on most occasions and the electronic control warning indicator illuminated often. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to frank fletcher dodge chrysler jeep (5922 warden rd, sherwood, ar 72120, (501) 436-0986) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
While the vehicle was in motion, the car hesitated, lost speed, and then cut off (lost compression) while driving on the freeway. The engine indicator light never came on (beforehand) to alert that there was an engine problem. The passenger front tire loses air (constantly) and i've had to put air in the tire (since purchase date 3/13/15) every other week and the dealership keeps insisting there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.
I want ro know why the crank sensor isnt a recall. Mine went out this morning and luckily i was in my neighborhood and not on the hwy. It's dangerous and my car just cut off on me. I read this morning and there is quite of few people that had the same issue. There could be parents out there with a car full of kids and it could be extremely hot or cold outside. There should be a recall on this item for safety.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently and that there was a complete loss of power. In addition, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to madison chrysler jeep dodge ram (203 boston post road, madison, connecticut 06443, (203) 245-0451) where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The contact cited nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While operating the vehicle, all the instrument panel warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle would not immediately start. On several occasions, while driving, the vehicle would suddenly fail to accelerate properly and shut off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle converter was faulty. The throttle converter was replaced, but the failures continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 65,000.consumer stated the first major issue occurred in march where i attempted to start my vehicle, it wouldn't start, and all lights on the dashboard were lit up... Including a red lightning bolt in which i never have seen before! the vehicle did start for a moment, then locked up and coasted forward where i put on the brakes to stop vehicle due to obvious/ problem. Problem occured more than consumer could count. Radio wouldn't work properly.'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
Air bag cover rattles over 45 mph has been doing this since mileage of about 1000check engine light comes on with code p0128 faulty thermostat 2 times in the last month pulls to left over 60 mph has been doing this since june has been back to dealership 2x
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost steering ability. In addition, the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the shoulder. After approximately two minutes, the vehicle restarted and operated normally. The contact stated that the failure occurred four other times. The vehicle was driven to hendrix jeep chrysler fiat (543 n mcpherson church rd, fayetteville, nc 28303) where it was determined that the throttle body, spark plugs, and air filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures recurred twice after the repairs were performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired after the last failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.
The throttle body assembly was repaired in november of 2019.it is july of 2020, i have driven the vehicle less than 2500 miles since the initial repair and the vehicle is producing the exact same symptoms as it was before the repair.it hesitates, almost stalls, and lunges while driving. Traction control light, check engine light and the drive by wire warning light all flash when the vehicle is started and running.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the power steering failed. Once the vehicle was restarted, it resumed normal operation. There were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. The contact's vehicle was almost struck by another vehicle when it stalled. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 39,999.
When driving down the road the vehicle will stall. The only indication i have that it has stalled or is going to stall is the rpm's drop to zero. I have taken it into the dealership and they ran diagnostics but can find nothing wrong. This has been happening almost everyday since the end of july beginning of august. It happens 2 or 3 times a day then nothing for a couple days and then starts up again. Thankfully this has not happened when i'm driving 65mph because i have no warning and the vehicle just stops, i can barely get pulled over to the side of the road.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving highway speeds, an unknown warning indicator illuminated and there was a drastic reduction in speed. Motor mile (2260 roanoke st, christiansburg, va 24073, (540) 381-8417) and berglund chrysler jeep dodge ram (2525 franklin rd sw, roanoke, va 24014, (540) 345-9881) were notified of the failure. Berglund chrysler diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from an unknown manufacturer campaign regarding the throttle body. The vehicle was unable to be driven safely. The manufacturer was notified. The contact wanted the vehicle bought back if there was no remedy. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
The engine stalls unexpectedly while driving, due to the intermittent failure of the crankshaft or camshaft sensor on the engine. This could result in an accident.
Statrting on 23. May, 2018 my vehicle started randomly dying while driving. This is a complete loss of propulsion, the rpms drop to zero and the car completely stops running. The only way to get the vehicle moving again when it does start is to completely stop, place the vehicle in park and start the vehicle again. The vehicle has no preference or indication of when it is going to do this, so far it has died while pulling into traffic, driving down the freeway at 60 miles an hour, turning into a parking stall in a busy mall parking, while climbing hills and while going down hills. This information was given to fca along with the mileage which is roughly 37800 miles. I have been directed to pay out of my own pocket for diagnostics for this vehicle even though you may search jeep patriot forums.com off of chrysler website and you can find a list of similar complaints dating back as far as 2010 when chrysler recalled nearly half a million vehicles for a very similar issue
70k miles it started stalling while i was driving, mainly in city going 25-45mph. The 1st time i had have it jumpstarted. 2nd and 3rd time i was not able to jumpstart. Took it to the dealership, they said the code for the abs module came up so they replaced it. The repair cost $550 and i drove it 3 days and the car died again while going through a stoplight, they traction control light came on. Had to have it towed. They said the connection wire was bad to the new abs module they replaced so they replaced the connector. I drove it a week, the rpms dropped out and engine stalled while going 70mph. Same thing happen a week later while acclerating on an on ramp. Now its 3 days after the last time it died and it has stalled on me 3 times in one day, and i have to wait 2-3 mins with the engine shut off then i am able to restart it. This car is not reliable, i have no warning of when it will shut off or if i will be stranded and have to have it towed. Its scary going down the highway at 70mph and the engine dies!!!
Had issues with catalytic converters but was repaired prior to receiving the recall paperwork. My check engine light came on and this was the copy of the computer diagnostic. I paid out of pocket to get repaired.
My car is stalling while driving i have almost been hit several times i can not even drive it because it is unsafe - it has been happening for over one year and i am paying for a car i cant drive i have taken to dealership they have not fixed it
As of 12/18/2018, my car has begun to die as i push on the accelerator after being at a complete stop at a stop light or stop sign, it even died out of no where, my husband was driving back home and thankfully there were no other cars behind him as he was passing the intersection when the car jerked and decided to turn of completely. He put it on park and started up like normal but no check engine light came on or anything. Ever since i got this car in february of 2016, take note that my jeep only has 65000 miles and i have never had any problems with it until now. It is terrifying because each time it has happened, cars behind me were very close to rear ending my car. This is a big and scary issue for me because i have read on numerous websites that their jeep patriots have died on the highway... I have a 3 month old that i take back and forth to a baby sitter every weekday, and that is a huge safety issue for my daughter and for people driving around me as well. I have read on a numerous amounts of websites where other jeep patriot owners are having the exact same issue. I keep my oil changes up to date and i just changed my spark plugs. So i have no clue what the problem might be i have not taken it to have it checked because of what i have read i see that others have not had luck with taken it to a shop i would hate for this issue to cause somebody to rear end me on the streets or on the highway. Either being on the streets or the highway, it could cause serious damage and injury to me, my 3 month old daughter and to the people around me.hopefully they have a recall soon!
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the turn signal socket was faulty. The contact researched online that the part was defective. Kunes country auto group of macomb (3200 e jackson st, macomb, il 61455, (309) 837-5757) informed the contact that the parts and labor for the replacement bulb would cost $350. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 110,000.
When it rains water leaks into the rear dome light and drips into the inside of my jeep. The light doesn't work because of this and i would think this would be an electrocution hazard. I can't have anything in the back of my jeep that could be ruined by rain water.
I've noticed my headlights in the front of my car are very bright. I usually drive a 60 mile round trip at night and it is not a rare occurrence to have more than 10 cars flash me. I do put my headlamps on the low beam, but cars still flash me thinking it's on high beams. I've talked to my friend who also has a jeep patriot 2014, he has the same problem as well.
The car has had several problems with steering engine heating and now throttle.
Help
I see there is a recall on other jeep patriots for a catalytic convertors.mine was not included but i have had numerous emission issues.my catalytic convertor and both o2 sensors went and it is not covered.i am wondering why my jeep wasn't included in the recall.
During driving, the car stalls out, rpm goes to zero and it fluctuates randomly even during higher speeds on highways and streets. This risks an auto accident due to losing power at speeds of up to 70 mph.
My jeep patriot stalls after i fill up the gas tank 1-2 miles after it is filled every time. It does this at random times with no warning, the steering and brakes lock up with no throttle control. It is extremely dangerous as itā€™s happened in heavy traffic and could turn out worse for others with the same issue.
I own a 2015 jeep and while driving down a neighborhood street turning onto a major highway my vehicle started to slow. When i pressed the accelerator my vehicle would not accelerate and continue to slow. My vehicle them came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. I attempted to turn the vehicle on again and the vehicle would not start. I was then forced to push the vehicle off the side of the road to safety since there were other vehicle driving behind me. After having the vehicle towed to an auto repair shop i was told the fuel pump had to be replaced. The fuel pump did not give any advanced warning, no indicator lights came on the vehicle to inform me. I was put in an unsafe position when my vehicle broke down. I have less than 40k miles on my jeep there is no way a fuel pump would go out on such a new vehicle with low miles. It cost me $556.02 to replace the fuel pump. However once the pump was replaced the fuel gauge would not read correctly. The actual gauge was functioning but the fuel pump would not send correct readings and my gauge would not mark more than 3/4 tank even when the tank was fuel. In the end i had to replace the fuel pump three times before the gauge would mark from empty to full correctly. All these events cause me to believe the fuel pump is faulty and should be recalled and corrected.
Sputtering and violent bucking when trying to accelerate. "lightening bolt" started blinking on dash board. Turned out i had to replace the throttle body. My car only had 55,000 miles at the time. Very dangerous if you are driving on the road and this starts.
Car lose power wile driving on the freeway at 65miles p/ hourfrom 65miles to 5mp/h,this is a safety isue, sure be adress as a safety recall,we could get hit from behind at the freeway,we found out that the problem was a failure of the throtle control valve.
When i fill my tank up with gas, my car will start bucking, often resulting in a stall shortly after. It doesn't matter if it's completely full or if i only put ten dollars in the tank. It is usually when i am slowing down or when i slow and then try to accelerate but never when i'm already slowed down, it's usually when i am going the speed limit it can be anywhere between 30-60mph. It has broken down twice on a major highway where i live called us 19 and i legitimately felt like i could have lost my life in both situations had other drivers not been paying attention, so many cars came close to hitting me i'm terrified to drive my car now. It also stalled several times on side roads with heavy traffic and once or twice on roads with not much traffic. I believed maybe it was the throttle body but it's not throwing any codes. Since it is usually when i put gas in, i'm now thinking it maybe be an issue with the fuel injector, some sort of sensor in the gas tank or something along those lines. It is currently at the dealership getting looked at but they are having a hard time recreating the issue, it really should be a recall before someone loses their life. I don't have kids or a husband but a lot of people on the forums i visit do and they are having this issue with a lot of different makes and models of jeeps since 2014.
Cvt transmission started to slightly slip at around 90,000 miles and at the time i did not know that this was in fact the problem. As time went on it became more obvious what it was and of course after 100,000 miles is when the warranty was good nolonger so lost out on that.
When driving at normal highways speeds for extended periods the transmission temp warning light will come on and slow the vehicle speed to 40mph or less and if you do not pull the vehicle over and shut it off it will lose all power to the transmission and the vehicle will stop moving totally. This has happened several times, the first being a two hour trip from chesapeake virginia to richmond. We took the highway and maintained the speed limit of 55-70 mph as posted and about one hour into our journey the vehicle lost power abruptly and slowed to 40 mph while we were traveling 70 in the left lane and then totally lost all forward travel almost causing us to be slammed into by an 18 wheeler. The most recent time was two days ago july 18,2018. We were driving to connecticut from chesapeake virginia and about three and half hours into our journey the transmission temp warning light came on and the vehicle within less than 2 minutes had lost all forward motion leaving us stuck in the left lane on the new jersey turnpike for atleast half an hour while cars zoomed by. We were traveling the posted speed limit of 65 mph. Then again a few hours later in the trip it did the exact same thing. I called the dealership and they said that it's stated in the owners manual that this will happen. I find it extremely frustrating that they are able to sell a car that under normal operating conditions will just shut down! this is not an isolated incident with the patriot and after some research it seems jeep no longer puts the cvt transmission in the patriot due to this exact problem. I googled this and there are so many forums where people are so frustrated that jeep is able to sell this lemon. We've taken it to a mechanic and they agree this is a problem that can't be fixed as it's a cvt transmission design flaw and our only course of action is to put a brand ne transmission in.fixthis!
Had to get transmission replaced at 15000 miles due to a noise and chrysler not knowing what the issue was. Was running out of tranny fluid 3 times in one month. With no leak found. Now i am hearing that noise again. Steering is very sensitive and seems to be getting worse, especially going around a left hand corner on the highway. Motor mount was loose at 16000 miles , was fixed, but why was it loose? steering wheel shakes badly when going over 65 mph on freeway. E brake does not work properly. If it is pulled and i am on a hill and it is in neutral or the clutch is pressed in it will roll... (dealership tells me it works and also, they cannot adjust it anymore) why?.. My windshield wpiers are stalling, more and more often they wont turn on until i turn them on as fast as they will go and then turn them down after that. I have had many problems with this vehicle and trying to get chrysler to buy back because it is obviously not reliable or safe, but my case maanger and her supervisor are ridiculously hard to get a hold ofand dont realize the importance of this.. The dealership i bought the car from has treated me terribly and hasn't given me good service in the slightest. One of the salesman cussed at me. And they won't fix my issues with the car, and the owner of the dealership told me "to just total it" to get rid of it, instead of helping me and making it right. I am very stressed about this because it has been going on for 6 months now... And i need a reliable car.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 75 mph, the transmission temperature warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to safford chrysler dodge jeep ram & fiat of fredericksburg (5202 jefferson davis hwy, fredericksburg, va 22408) to diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where to be diagnosed a second time. The contact was informed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was diagnosed a third time and the contact was informed that the transmission was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Went to get an oil change and technician found cvt disptick tube on the splash guard. Google search shows lots of people complaining and talking about this. Since the cvt tube does not have any end user serviceable parts it was never touched .seems to be breaking from poor design/vibration.dealer will not cover nder bumper to bumper warrantya simple google search shows this is a common problem on these engine/cvt comboshttps://www.google.com/search?q=jeep+patriot+transmission+dipstic+broken&rlz=1c1chbf_enus723us723&oq=jeep+patriot+transmission+dipstic+broken&aqs=chrome..69i57.20303j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=utf-8
Purchased the 2015 jeep patriot 02/2018 from carmax in columbia, sc.mileage was just over 27,000 miles. It came with a 5 speed manual transmission. 3/2/2019 - a t355 transaxle 2 wd, 5 speed transmission was replaced, and clutch.4/15/2020 - patriot was towed to the shop, carthage, tn. Clutch went out, replaced the slave cylinder, master clutch cylinder.6/26/2020 - took the patriot to the shop, carthage, tn. Transaxle needs to be replaced.in 2019, the powertrain was still under manufacturer's warranty, we spoke to the jeep dealership in south carolina, they refused to do the work. When we contacted jeep 06/2020 when the jeep transmission was deemed needed replacing again, josh, in management, informed us that jeep would not do anything as the warranty had expired in february of 2020.research has revealed that from 2007 to 2016, the 5 speed manual transmission is defective.we currently still owe 8000.00 dollars on the vehicle.we are not willing to put any money into another transmission.by the time we did, we would have over 5000.00 dollars in a worthless piece of garbage that is not reliable.other issues:total right front rebuild within the first year of owning the vehicle.overall, the vehicle is a lemon, and we need an investigation opened, as jeep has refused to assist in anyway or to correct the issue.
When traveling on the the interstate at about 80mph, the transmission oil overheat icon appears and i will begin to lose acceleration.
We own a 2015 jeep patriot, bought used in 2016. It now has about 75,000 miles on it and has served us well. That is, until the beginning of december. My husband heard an odd squeaking sound in the rear, and took it to our local mechanic (who is sae certified, and has worked as a service manager for both chrysler and ford) thinking that maybe we just needed more body clips on the bumper. After driving it around the block the mechanic thought it sounded more like worn shocks, so they put it up on the rack. Good thing we didn't wait much longer to bring it in, because the left rear axle was breaking loose from the framethe welding was still intact, but right beside the welding is a large break. And of course, several other parts are broken as well. Neither my husband nor the mechanic saw any signs of impact anywhere down there. There were no large dents, marks, protruding or bulging metal members of the vehicle's frame, bent or contorted axle members or twisted or torn parts of the chassis. Neither do we have any recollection of running over anything, or being hit by something. Our mechanic's take away was that this was a factory issue and needed to be handled by jeep. But neither the dealership nor jeep customer service are helping. This should still be covered by the power train warranty. But they won't take responsibility for it.my biggest concern is that this is not going to be the only jeep patriot that this happens to. If this is indeed a factory or material defect, then somewhere down the road someone else will have this happen and they might not be so fortunate as to discover it before the axle does fall off and cause injury or fatality.
Transmission is overheating in various driving conditions.it used to be at highway speeds on hot days.now it occurs in any conditions down to 49 degrees at 45 miles per hour.the problem is common in this vehicle, chrysler knows about it and does nothing to correct it in manufacturing.problem has been occurring since the first year but was too infrequent and got too little response from dealership to invoke lemon law in time.chrysler and some dealerships attempt to wait out the lemon law and then the warranty period. Transmission overheats with much greater frequency now.the safety problem is that the vehicle goes into limp mode and goes to zero power very quickly.my wife could find herself stranded in an strange or unsafe neighborhood,or worse, along crowded stretch of interstate like i95 n at chester, pa or in the middle of any clover leaf. The vehicle becomes a hazard to my wife and other drivers. Or imagine virginia, i95 n heading for dc where traffic is both heavy and fast-moving.a slow vehicle merging is nearly impossible in some places. And now a vehicle dies in the center lane.boom.if this was the failure of a wear item and could not be helped, that would be one thing.but chrysler/jeep knew they were putting out bad transmissions for years and did nothing.in our case champion in mississippi misdiagnosed the problem as the throttle body and replaced it.the problem remained. Bayside in virginia replaced the throttle body again, the transmission and then the wire harness.the problem persists and is worsening.we are in our 5th year of dealing with this. This little fiat trans is too small and weak for a midsize suv. Any vehicle, midsize or larger, with this cvt transmission in it should be taken off the road. Date below and original mileage reading are approximate.problem continues to this day.please help us.
I was driving on a street in a residential area and my jeep started to jerk all of a sudden. I was no longer able to accelerate. This started happening in may and the last time is happened was june 22 2020. Jeep needs to put out a recall asap!
My 2015 jeep patriot started making whining noises and jerking when in motion, i had the transmission and converter replaced at 75,000 miles, now i am at 95,000, and it is happening all over again, loud whining noises and jerks randomly when in motion, does not matter the speed or if i am on a city street going 40 miles an hour or highway going 70 miles an hour or even in a neighborhood going 10 miles an hour, i also have noticed the car does not accelerate properly, i currently have my car in the shop to diagnosis the problems again.
When it is hot out 85-100f, my transmission overheating light goes on while driving at expressway/interstate highway speeds.the engine temperatures are within normal limits.it occurs without the a/c on.when this situation happens, my vehicle will no longer accelerate and will become slower and slower until i'm going >20mph.this is hazardous on high speed limit congested roadways.this has happened to my 2015 jeep patriot freedom drive 2 cvt at least 5 times during hot spring days or the summer.i have had to park on a shoulder of an expressway for 20-30 minutes for it to cool down so i could safely reenter the highway.i have heard of two other people with this issue and i do not know many people who have this model.all vehicles should be capable of getting to highway speed on an on ramp and merge in.i do not know if it is a cooling issue, a thermostat malfunction, or something else.i own the latitude, trail rated model, 2015.i bought it with only 2 miles on the odometer and i do regular fully synthetic oil changes.when i know the issue is starting i hear a distinctive winding sound when accelerating.almost like the sound a drill or remote control car makes (like it's stuck in 1 gear, even though my car is a cvt i usually feel a "shift" when accelerating or passing.when this occurs, it sounds like something is restricting the "gears" and causing the winding/whining sound, like if you put a manual transmission into 1st or second and kept accelerating up to highway speeds.
What a joy!
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to dodge chrysler jeep ram of winter haven (299 cypress gardens blvd, winter haven, fl 33880) however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000.
Transmission shutters and slips between 55 and 70mph. Feels like car is going to stall out, and does not accelerate correctly
When you accelerate the transmission slips. It doesn't do it all the time but at least 50-60% of the time. It started under the warranty and i had a dodge dealership look at it and they said they felt it slip but the road was wet so they couldn't say if it was the tranny or the tires slipping on the wet pavement. It has been slipping for the last year at least. After talking to other people who have these patriots they said the same thing (transmission slipping). It does it during acceleration.
I was turning onto my street and my wheels locked up. I parked car (my son was in the back 3.9 years old) and noticed smoke under the hood, opened the hood and saw a huge fire. Went to store so had water - poured 6 water bottles on the fire to put it out.*dtconsumer stated incident occurred 5 hours after the oil change that day.
When driving the throttle body going into limp mode. Feels like a hiccup. Dodge in iowa has 40 other vehicles waiting on the same part for the same issue.
Driving vehicle along the highway and it completely shut off. Had to put the vehicle in neutral to pull over to the side of the highway.
Driving on hwy 90 for an hour going 70mph. Loud whining sound started coming from the engine then transmission temperature light came on and vehicle started slowing down even with trying to keep speed. Speed kept decreasing so i pulled over for 20 minutes and went home.
On 5 occasions when driving the car around 70mph, the car starts to decelerate on its own with no indicators on the vehicle showing any issues. The vehicle will not accelerate over 55mph - you have to undertake an emergency move into an inside lane in order to be in a safe location and even when pressing the accelerator pedal it will not go over 55mph. After a few minutes the car will then start to accelerate again. On multiple occasions, it has almost created a s situation where the car has been hit from behind my vehicles behind due to the sudden deceleration.the vehicle has been take into the jeep dealership and they have not been able to diagnose the issue with the vehicle or reproduce it.
Takata recall there is a clunking noise in the front end while driving over bumps and the transmission is slipping while accelerating from a stop is when i notice it the mostly.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was parked, it rolled backwards independently. The contact stated that the reverse lights were illuminated. The contact had to jump into the vehicle and depress the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. The emergency brake had to be applied in order to prevent the vehicle from driving in reverse. Whenever driving over a pothole at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle downshifted from automatic to manual. The contraction control warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who advised the contact not to drive the vehicle and that no failure was found. The dealer suggested that the cbt transmission could be failing. The contact notified the manufacturer who advised the contact to do a full inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,088.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was in the park position, it began to roll away. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
Some type of leak not sure it its the coolant, oil, or transmission fluids
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, when he heard an abnormal noise. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to his destination. The contact called the local dealer monroeville chrysler jeep (3651 william penn hwy, monroeville, pa 15146, (412) 856-1422) and made the dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
The contact rented a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while parked, the front passenger seat belt latch would not disengage and the seat belt tightened on the passenger. As a result, the seat belt had to be cut in order for the passenger to be released. The vehicle was taken back to the rental vehicle agency. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,650. The vin was invalid. Updated 04/22/2016*lj
The seatbelt cam keeps locking up. It only lets the seatbelt out every once in a while.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving between 25-35 mph, the contact was involved in a crash. The seat belt failed to restrain the contact. The contact sustained chest soreness and stiffness, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer by aaa. The manufacturer was notified. Chrysler stated that the air bag was not triggered and did not address the inquiry about the seat belt not working.the failure mileage was 22,000.
My driver seat headrest deployed like an airbag without warning or by result of impact. It just split open and dealership told me it was a safety device but it is an expensive job for something that suddenly becomes defective and i shouldn't have to pay for a safety device that failed. I wasn't in vehicle when it happened. But the week before this happened the jeep was parked due to an extremely horrible snow storm and it was trapped under snow for over a week and where i live that type of weather has not happened before. And the week after it became hot so not sure weather had a role in it. But because i had brain andneck surgery the headrest has made it uncomfortable and it is impacting my safety as well.
While driving, my passenger side seat head rest exploded and is now unable to go back together.
Headrest was deployed on drivers side, noticed small plastic piece within the assembly of the headrest was broken. Vehicle was parked at residence, upon entering and sitting down i realized that the headrest was not set back and then realized there was an issue.
Headrest "safety" feature deployed without an accident. Headrest will not go back in resulting in the air bag light not being able to be reset. Vehicle was not cranked or moving when headrest deploys.
When arriving on saturday 6/1/2019 at home we parked our vehicle in the garage and when we shut the door we hear a loud popping sound.not knowing what it was we inspected the outside of the car and then in the inside we noticed that the driver's side headrest had come apart.i took it into the dealership and they had indicated that the headrest had deployed due to the clips inside breaking and that i would need to pay $535 to get it repaired.i thought that safety equipment of this nature was supposed to be covered, as if a air bag had falsely deployed that would be covered.i would think that this would be a major incident as what would of happened if we were driving the vehicle or worse yet what if one of our kids were driving and what happens if the passenger side headrest deploys at any given time.i believe that the manufacture should replace them at no cost and there should be a recall on these as many more incidents of this nature have been reported.
While my car was parked in the driveway of my house the driver headrest deployed.no collision occurred.the plastic clip holding the headrest in position broke and the headrest deployed.
The headrest deployed on it's own while driving. I was told bu my wife to take a look at what happened and the plastic that holds the metal bar that locks headrest in place was broken. The metal shaft is still locked in place . Please see pictures. I called the dealership that i bought the car and they told me to call a jeep dealership. I notified bay dodge jeep chrysler in panama city and have them check for any recalls. They told me no and i get with service department to get a new one. I should not have to pay for defect.
The headrests on both front seats (driver and passenger)have deployed without an accident occurring.the vehicle was stopped, we were vacuuming the inside.
Driving steadily on the highway, my driver's seat headrest exploded forward, launching my head forward and downward away from the road, disorienting me for a couple seconds. A powerful spring completely broke plastic that held a pin back, a pin which is supposed to hold the headrest back. I am young and a very alert driver, but this was unacceptable.
My driver side headrest exploded while the car was stationary.it appears the active head restraint system failed.jeep dealers refuse to tell me if this is covered by warranty.i have not yet had it inspected, but as the car was stationary, not moving and not colliding it is clearly a manufacturer defect.this is an extremely dangerous defect.there are reports of drivers being concussed while driving, and i mostly only drive to take children to and from school.
I was driving down the road at approximately 50 m.p.h., when the headrest on the passenger's seat exploded.thankfully no one was seated in it at the time. I have since discovered that this is a common problem with several jeep models.i am now concerned, wondering when or if the driver's side may deploy while i am driving.
In july 2019 i walked out to my car and noticed that the head rest had deployed. My car was not moved or in any accidents. After doing research i noticed that many other jeep patriot consumers have had the same problem with the headrest deploying without there being an accident or any type of trans happening to the car. This is very dangerous for the driver as well as the passenger in the vehicle. This can cause a serious injury for those in the car and possible others if it is deployed while someone is driving and an accident is then truly caused. I see there has been no recall on this but there needs to be. The cost of having this being replaced should not be left up to the consumer. Jeep is a well known company and should have to pay. I pray no serious injuries occur to others from this issue.
Hit a small pot hole & my passenger seat head rest popped open & came apart.there is no way that i can see to put it back together; it's not easily closed & i dont want to break it
My sister was driving this vehicle came to a stop sign, while stoped her headrest ( driver seat head rest) the plastic clips that holds it in place broke. If she was driving, and it broke it havecould have sent her in a wreck. She has witnesses of the incident. This is very concerning because it is not safe and it should not come out of her pocket but the jeep dealership is trying to charge her. We can not replace it without taking it to the dealership because of wires that are in the headrest that are connecting with the seat.
Vehicle was parked in a parking lot. When i returned to car, the passengers headrest had come apart. Did some digging on internet and noticed i am not alone. This has happened to many patriot owners. Of course most were after the 60,000 mile warranty. Extended warranty worthless also because it does not cover srs. Est right now is around $860.00. Glad my 17 yr old daughter was not sitting in that set as she had been a couple of hours earlier. Otherwise, i guess there would be medical bills in addition to car repair bills.
The ahr deployed on my passenger side seat while driving down the road hitting my teenaged daughter in the back of the head.
My brakes make a loud sound when i'm making a stop. I have a full warranty on my brakes and took it back to the dealer twice. What i was advised is that sound is normal and that all jeep patriots makes that sound. Well i have not heard that sound from another jeep but not sure if there is a defect.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal noise when turning and braking. The failure occurred without warning. Ziegler chrysler dodge ram, 3939 stadium dr, kalamazoo, mi 49008) was contacted; however, the dealer only performed an alignment and tire rotation, but the failure recurred. When driving at highway speeds going 60mph the vehicle jerks and the engine shuts off and stalls. Called in to my local service dealer and they advised me there is no recalls on my vehicle.
The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was unable to complete an investigation to determine the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While reversing, an abnormal squeaking sound emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on four separate occasions where the brake pads and rotors were replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and refused to service the vehicle again. The failure mileage was 5,367.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While reversing the vehicle, the rear brakes made a lot of noise. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and the brake shoes were changed; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was 15,000.
My abs and electric stability control sensors lights have been over for the past couple of weeks. My brakes has been giving me some resistance and sometimes it's hard to press the brake pedal.
Since i purchased the car in 2016 the brakes keep making this loud sound and i have take to the dealer twice who told me nothing was wrong with it. So then i decided to take it to another shop who then told me it was my front and back brackes and rotors but car is not that old. So i went ahead and just paid to replace it to be safe and two days after this work was done it gave me the same sound and now they are tell me this is how it is supposed to sound. I have heard other jeeps just like mine make that same noise so i wonder if this is a issue with all the 2015 jeep patriots. It happens when i's trying to stop the car then it gives me that sound and sometimes when i'm driving i still can here the squealing sound. I know this is not normal at all.
Hit a deer head on brakes failed the had to pull emergency brake for car to stop rightside passenger side airbag never deployed
On about january 15, 2015, less than 2 months after purchase and with less than 1500 miles, this vehicle accelerated out of control & i was unable to get it to respond by braking.the vehicle was brought to burdick chrysler jeep in cicero, ny where it was purchased & they were unable to properly diagnose/repair the vehicle & said there was nothing wrong with it.while traveling on feb 5 i experienced an issue with the cruise control not 'staying' where it was set- continuing to accelerate, then instead about 1/2 way to our destination, i started to experience random issues such as attempting to accelerate and the vehicle behaving as if it was in neutral.i located the jeep dealer closest to my destination, safford chrysler jeep in va, & dropped the vehicle off.safford had the vehicle the entire day of friday, 2/06/15, & was unable to properly diagnose/repair the vehicle- saying they could not find anything wrong with it. Upon releasing the vehicle back to us, having driven only approx.10 miles, my cousin had near-death experience in heavy traffic, the vehicle began again accelerating out of control & would not respond to normal braking while my cousin was driving.we contacted jeep customer care by phone to report these issues the evening of friday, 2/06. The jeep is currently at safford chrysler jeep in springfield, va, having been towed there on saturday, 2/07.we were told by safford that they found an error message of some sort indicating the gas and brake were engaged at the same time, which is in keeping with our report of the vehicle accelerating on it's own and not responding to braking, but they were unable to diagnose or repair the problem that day or the following day prior to our departure from virginia.there has been a serious lack of response from to burdick chrysler jeep in cicero, ny, safford chrysler jeep in springfield, va, &jeep customer care.
When backing upsqueaking sound.it will come and go had the dealer check it at every millage check. Same storythey could spray but it came back. It made that noise a week after i purchased it.

I received a recall notice regarding potential issues with the power steering hose clamp for my 2015 jeep patriot.i contacted marty cancila (2175 n hwy 67, florissant, mo 63033) on 2/8/16 to schedule my vehicle to be inspected.i was told that they did not have the required part in and that i would be placed on a callback list.the recall notice states that if the dealer has not remedied this issue within a reasonable time frame that i had the option to submit a complaint.i am not sure what constitutes as a reasonable time frame.but, if my vehicle could possibly catch on fire if it is affected, i feel this is an urgent matter that should not be placed on hold.

Why?!!!

I purchased a 2015 jeep patriot on march 21 with 22 miles on the odometer.after a few days the car began drifting to the right.the owners manual indicated this was normal for the first 500 miles.over the course of a few days the car starting pulling hard to the right.on thursday april 2 the car began suddenly jerking hard to the right almost sending me into a concrete barrier.after returning the car for service and being assured the jeep was properly aligned the car continued to pull hard to the right.the car also would suddenly jerk hard to the right.this is a dangerous vehicle and i am concerned for my family's safety. The deal has refused to replace the car.
I was driving on a street in a residential area and my jeep started to jerk all of a sudden. I was no longer able to accelerate. This started happening in may and the last time is happened was june 22 2020. Jeep needs to put out a recall asap!
The power steering hose clamp may not be installled correctly during the manufacturing process the low pressure power steering return hose may detach and cause a large volume power steering fluid leak

I only owned the car for one week and there were only 156 miles on the car. When i got in my car after work today (the first rainy day since i picked up the vehicle a week ago) there was water all over the radio, console, gear shift, dashboard and also on the seats and floor. Water was leaking into the car from the interior lights located right above the dashboard. The cd player was making a clicking noise and saying load cd or eject cd and would just go on and off sporadically as i drove to the jeep dealer. The most concerning and dangerous part waswater would continue to pour out from the lights as i drove every time i made a turn. Water would spray onto me, as well as, parts of the interior of the car without notice.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was parked, water leaked into the cabin. Upon inspecting the rear of the vehicle, the contact noticed that the water entered along the rear hatch of the vehicle. The leak caused damage to the headliner, carpet, and rear seats. The contact stated that mold and the odor of mold were present inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to watson ludington chrysler (located at 3632 west us highway 10, ludington, mi 49431, (231) 845-3900) to be inspected. The mechanic was able to use automotive caulk to seal the area from which the water leaked. After a night of torrential rains, there were no signs of further leaks. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,279. The consumer stated the vehicle was repaired, but the vehicle still smelled of mold. The consumer requested having assistance having the back seats and headliner replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. On rainy days, water entered from the gasket into the rear center of the vehicle. The failure damaged the roof liner and interior lighting. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the leak was emitting from the antenna. The antenna was replaced. The failure recurred and it was diagnosed that the gasket was leaking. The gasket was repaired with a sealant, but the failure recurred. It was diagnosed again that the gasket was leaking and it was resealed. The failure recurred and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
It has occurred while driving on a majory highway causing great distraction.
...has there been a recall issued on the jeep patriot concerning the rear hatch allowing water into the rear latch causing the interior lights to remain on? my wife had this happen and the interior lights caused her problems with driving at night until the repair was made. My mechanic stated that he had to perform this fix on 5 jeeps within a month. I contacted chrysler about this and the employee stated that they had several complaints about this as well...
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While accelerating, the steering wheel pulled to the left and right without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the lower control arm was missing the pinch bolt and needed to be repaired. The contact stated that there was no evidence that the bolt was ever placed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,500.
Takata recall there is a clunking noise in the front end while driving over bumps and the transmission is slipping while accelerating from a stop is when i notice it the mostly.
Jeep had 40,000 miles on it and was making a weird noise when driving on the highway. I thought it was tires, so i got new tires and they told me the ball joints were loose and needed to be replaced. They quoted it and said that without fixing it, it would wear down my tires faster. I brought my car in for inspection at another shop and they were surprised, but they said the ball joint assemblies needed to be replaced as they were loose and rusted out and that they need to do both control arms because of how the jeeps are bit and explained it thoroughly. They also said they could not estimate how much of a life they had left, but that it would be best to fix it before it broke. I had them replace the front control arms and ball joint assemblies.

Rear tailgate glass exploded, sitting in garage over night
Without cause the passenger side front seat head rest deployed. There are pieces of plastic inside that prevent it from being reset. Research determined several like complaints and failure of chrysler jeep to recall these defective safety devices or repair them. Vehicle was parked in the garage at the time of deployment.
My abs and electric stability control sensors lights have been over for the past couple of weeks. My brakes has been giving me some resistance and sometimes it's hard to press the brake pedal.
September 4th 2015 i purchased a brand new 2015 jeep patriot it only had 10 miles on the odometer sep 5th the second day of driving the vehicle i noticed the vehicle had acceleration problems it took a few seconds longer to accelerate after i stopped the car at the light getting off the ramp from the freeway i figured it was just a coincidence since the car was brand new over the days of driving i noticed that it was steady taking delay time to pick up speed as i accelerated from stopping at lights & stop sign on the other hand i did notice the brake system was lousy i had to stop early ahead of time in order for my vehicle to slow down and even stopping early sometimes didn't work i had to swerve out of the lane just to prevent myself from hitting another vehicle..i brought my vehicle in two weeks later to get my brakes inspected the guy told me that i just need to slow down a lil bit earlier beforeyou usual have to stop.did really make a difference brake system is still lousy as f*** and to add insult to injury on september 24 i went to get my vehicle washed at kellys car wash i drove to the car wash put my car in neutral had all the windows rolled up tight and doors locked as i proceeded through the carwash everything was going fine until it was time to rinse water started coming from my dome light pouring on down into my air conditioning system and water started leaking from the right side passenger above the windshield i instantly panic as the vehicle was getting done through the carwash i pulled over and called my insurance company to file a claim & then called the dealership they told me to come in i came in they said that there was nothing they can do for me i will have to set an appointment so i set an appointment now i'm just waiting for my appointment to come on september 30 it rained & now my car has water spots on the passenger side above the dashboard
Heat not working it just keep blowing cold air it is an safety hazard cause my windshield is not defrosting and it's getting colder out hell its fall and i need to get this problem solved asap
My 2015 jeep patriot has stalled out 4 times while drivingthe jeep dealer said we need a crankshaft and camshaft sensorwhich is exactly the problem for the 2016 recall have there been other complaints it appears to me this is the same ezact problem
The drivers side floor mat is hooked by one hook which causes the floor mat to slide around and potentially get jammed under the accelerator and is a safety hazard.it does not stay in place because of the physics of one hook rather than two.other years models have two hooks.
Mybrakes made a loud noise and i did replace them but in rain i hair loud noise again also when i turn my wheel to the left i hear a clunck noise at times i also took my car to get oil change and a complete look over my car and i was told my lower left arm control is bad i dont understand because every dealer and car service i spoke with said 2015 jeep or any car shouldnt have problem with left control arm it is to new
I bought my 2015 jeep patriot on july 4, 2020. Every since i've had my truck, there has been problems. I have taken my truck to 4 mechanics and they can't seem to find a problem. Also the dealership that i got the truck from has not even tried to contact me back about them fixing it for me. I'm stuck with a vehicle that doesn't work at this point.
Vehicle will stall or completely driving while at speed either highway speed or backroads. I was almost hit by a train because as i was crossing tracks it quit. I placed it back in park and was able to restart it in time. It stalls or quits 8-10 times a day. I have had it at my dealer for the same issue 3 times now. This last time they have had it a month and still continue to tell me they don't know what's wrong with it.
I am having the same issue as just about everyone here with this make and model vehicle.i have stalled twice and one of those times almost caused an accident because i was exiting the highway when it stalled. Many times now for the past several months it has been slowing down to a crawl and repeatedly hesitating like it's choking. This happens presently, at almost every turn i make and sometimes i have to pull over and restart the vehicle.definitely should be looked into as it most certainly is a road safety concern/issue.
Our vehicle is at 56,000 miles.it is a standard vehicle.the clutch wore out. So wegot it fixed.it went 600 miles and wore out again.
While the car is in motion and you start to press the gas pedal to accelerate it starts jolting and then slows down in mid traffic wherever you are while pressing on the gas. I got it looked at they said it was the throttle body, supposed it got fixed but i paid a lot of money and sometimes it still jolts. I realized that this was a bigger issue when my mom and my sister who each own a compass 2014 & 2015 and both of their vehicles have now produced the same exact problem all of us getting the same issue while almost being crashed in to on the highway and on a main road. Our cars are only 3-4 years old, i'm not sure why so much work is being done for the same situation in all the jeep made vehicles. The throttle body is supposedly the issue in all three situations, maybe for whoever else owns one should know that they will soon get this problem if they havent. My car still had never been the same since getting it "fixed" by jeep "professionals" at the dealership.
This happened a few times when i first bought the truck, now it's all the time. Try to start it, it doesn't want to turn over . You can play with the steering wheel and then it starts. Getting harder and harder to crank over. Started mid july and has continued
I have a 2015 jeep patriot with 65,000 miles on it. Over the last 2 weeks, the vehicle has started to cut off out of nowhere while driving. The rpm drops to zero and then the car shuts off. No warning lights come on. No error codes show up. Nothing. It starts back up, usually with no issue but then does it again shortly after. It happens very sporadically and several times a day.it happens while going slow, going fast, while accelerating or decelerating. I have a 3 year old and we live on back roads. This is extremely dangerous. It is absolutely ridiculous that there are this many complaints about this same exact issue and there hasn't been a recall.
Heater stop working
I have a faulty catalytic converter. I don't understand why almost every other make and model similar to mine has a recall and mine is not listed. I am wondering were mytype of jeep looked at.
At only 16,500 miles 5 speed manual gearbox catastrophic failure. I bought the vehicle in march of 2015 with 6 miles on the odometer. This has happened to numerous other jeep patriot owners as well. There are at least 2 dozen or so on 1 internet forum that have had similar failures. The failure of mine happened crossing a busy intersection luckily no one crashed into the car as the shift from 1st to 2nd the car simply revved and would not engage into any gear. The dealership milton ruben dodge chrysler jeep and fca both are claiming clutches are not warranty due to being a consumable wear and tear item. The dealer reportedly found broken pieces of clutch according to the technicians notes. This is an extremely dangerous and discerning failure at such low mileage. There is another report of one failure at only 9600 miles. The dealer also cannot confirm if said pieces found are actually clutch or transmission parts. I have been in contact with fca regarding the matter and they are not much assistance. This matter of gearbox, transmission, clutch failures in jeep patriots warrant an investigation. I hope others have reported this issue to you. Dealers are charging consumers $1400.00 to $2000.00 dollars to repair a manufactured component that is prematurely breaking putting their consumers and other motorist lives at risk.
Help
I autostarted my car without the heat or anything on. After a few minutes i went outside to get in and as i walked up to my car the back windshield exploded out. There was glass everywhere. I immediately took it to my dealership and they have to send the claim in to chrysler drectly before the windshield can be fixed. The car was never touched and the window just blew out!
2015 jeep patriot has stalled, lost power, and shut down on me multiple times while driving. The vehicle remained in motion on the street and highway.
Purchased 05/15/2015, with 1500 lost acceleration and whining after stop and go,at 2391 lost acceleration and whining after going through toll booth. Telephoned dealer, contacted national, attempted to get in mo, service ctr said no technicians available.scheduled in nc dealer, sat all day and was told no technicians, changed oil 3509 miles and assured safe. Since delivery constant clunk in rear when changing gears.at 5,000 miles, again, lost acceleration/whining going through toll booth.took to dealer 6990 miles, kept for 2 days, could not duplicate.continues with flutter noise though foot pedal line, clunk when changing from park to reverse to drive(clunk).continue with service, no able to duplicate.
When driving the throttle body going into limp mode. Feels like a hiccup. Dodge in iowa has 40 other vehicles waiting on the same part for the same issue.
I pulled to the side to allow an ambulance to pass after it did i began to accelerate so i could get back up to 50 mph speed limit, i had to break after being cut off. While my foot was on the gas to accelerate it began to deccelerate then the engined stalled i put my hazards pulled to the side. After restarting it i was able to drive home with my car in auto stick. When leaving a resturant that night i hadn't even made it out of the parking lot when the car began to stall and the breaks locked up. I had to restart my vehicle and drive home in auto stick. I didn't drive my vehicle again until i took it to the jeep dealership 4/10/17 where they were unable to find any issues. 4/12/17 it stalled when i was entering the highway after being on the road for about 5-10 minutes it began to function after i restarted it. 4/10/17 i had the air filter changed and the fuel system cleaned. After that i continued to drive it until 4/17/17 when after being on the road for 5 minutes i began to merge onto the highway only to have my car do the same deceleration when trying to accelerate then stalling altogether. When trying to start my car it would only sputter i waited 15 minutes then was able to start it but only the cars systems would come on not the engine. I turned off my vehicle waited another 15 mins and it started i was able to drive it to my nearest carmax location they have had it for one day and have not been able to find any issues either.
Water leaking in through interior lights. My vehicle does not have a sunroof and water is dripping from the light assembly near the tailgate. After a rain showers in vancouver, wa i entered the back hatch ofmy car to store my work gear before i left work and there on the tire cover is a puddle of water. I looked up and the assembly as well as the surrounding headliner are soaked. While turning water comes out in a nice solid stream and lands on my clothes and other personal items. A little research shows this has been an issue with fca vehicles since 2007. This water leak causes intermittent electrical shorts.
I drove. Th jeep to the back of my property on my way back to the house i got stuck.i knew i couldnt get unstuck without help so i went to my house.upon my return the next morn i rralized th jeep caught fire and burned compltely up.i got stuck about 930/10 pm returned back to jeep at 6 am
When driving at highway speeds going 60mph the vehicle jerks and the engine shuts off and stalls. Called in to my local service dealer and they advised me there is no recalls on my vehicle.
I own a 2015 jeep patriot with 34,000 miles on the jeep.over the past week my jeep has failed me.it stalled while driving 3 times. In addition while driving, the jeep was jerking , hesitating and the rpm's dropping to zero with no warning at all.a total loss of powersteering and brakes occured as well.the third time resulted in me almost getting hit and left me stranded on the road.after getting my jeep towed to the local lee jeep ( fort walton beach fl) the service department cannot locate an issue with the jeep.the jeep has stalled out on them, but cannot get a code.so now i am with out a car, having to pay for a rental out of my pocket and i am a single teacher.this is poor serive and an extreme safety issue.after doing research it seems that is an issue for multiple jeep patroits of various makes and models and jeep is aware of the situation and has recalled other years, but not the 2015 which is having the same issue. The issue seems to be the crankshaft/ camshaft senor wire harness ( saftey recall s89 for the 2016 model)also the same issue with later models as well.the dealership has had my jeep for 3 days now and no solution in sight.many other jeep owners have been in the same shoes as i am now.with a jeep that has only 34,000 miles, such failures should not occur and such expenses should be passed onto the owner for such a widespread and known issue.
Hood release lever when getting out of car left foot catches on lever releasing hood.lever protrudesfrom side panel.i have a bad left leg so i have to drag leg out of car.i can catch lever releasing hood without knowing it.safety latch does preventhood from opening up if i do not notice hood is open.
I got stuck on my property.upon my return the jeep caugt fire and. Burned completly down
Car stalled while driving
Shortly after purchase of new 015 jeep patriot, water started to penetrate inside of car. Oming through front interior lamp. Took to dealership, found out clog in drain of sunroof.
Driving on hwy 90 for an hour going 70mph. Loud whining sound started coming from the engine then transmission temperature light came on and vehicle started slowing down even with trying to keep speed. Speed kept decreasing so i pulled over for 20 minutes and went home.
There is a leak in the rear of the vehicle. I have taken this vehicle to dealership 6 different times to be fixed. It is sitting in body shop trying to get fixed again. I am very upset at the way this is being handled. I really would like to talk to someone about my issues on this vehicle.
I've done a lot of research and many other jeep patriot owners are having the same problem with the throttle body. I was attempting to accelerate on a 40 mph road that people are known to fly down and when i stepped on the gas pedal my car did not accelerate but completely lose the ability to accelerate. My car stopped in the middle of the dangerous road as 3 lights simultaneously appeared on my dashboard; the lights were the throttle control warning light, traction control light, and transmission warning light. I was scared to death and acted quickly but this is simply unacceptable and unsafe. Will jeep simply wait until this causes the death or serious accident of motorists? i believed the throttle body was dirty so i cleaned it out following standard procedure, however the throttle warning light still appears and my vehicle struggles to accelerate. I will be taking it into the shop very soon but this should not be the responsibility of the vehicle owner, this is extremely unsafe and uncalled for when the vehicles suffering have less than 50,000 miles.

The throttle body is supposedly the issue in all three situations, maybe for whoever else owns one should know that they will soon get this problem if they havent. My car still had never been the same since getting it "fixed" by jeep "professionals" at the dealership.
Takata recall electronic throttle light keeps coming on cause the car to lose speed and eventually stall as the weather changes. While car is in motion once reaching above 40 miles per hour.
Driving jeep patriot and it sputtered slowing vehicle down on a busyhighway ... Very dangerous... Then went into ' limp mode' this needs investigated ... Had to replace complete throttle body with 80,000 miles
Throttle body must be replaced
2015 jeep patriot has stalled, lost power, and shut down on me multiple times while driving. The vehicle remained in motion on the street and highway.
While on the highway, electronic throttle sensor light comes on. Vehicle starts jerking, slowing, and dies. Causing you to lose steering and adequate brakes.
My jeep has 44000 miles on it, while out of town camping my jeep just started shutting off, at all speeds with no warning. This is very scary with small children in the car. I managed to get my jeep to a jeep dealership, who told me my throttle control box failed !!!!! at 44000 thousand miles!! $$$$1200.00 later and 8 hours i was on my way again, but the very next day i started having the same issue so far its happen twice again. The part i find strange is that this same thing happen to the lady sitting next to me at the dealership, so someone please tell me why this would happen to a newer jeep with low millage, both myself and the other lady are grandmas and not out 4 wheeling or being ruff on our jeeps. I need some answers and want jeep to pay for the repair!
Purchased my 2015 jeep patriot on 10/16/2020. Three hours later, as i was driving home, i had a major loss of power (went from highway speeds to 10mph) and the dash lit up with the check engine light, traction control and "lightning bolt" all flashing or lit. I also lost the ability to accelerate and the jeep would only coast at 10mph and would shake/shudder if stopped.
Picked it up on 12/5/18 from the dealership after having the cv axle replaced and all of a sudden or according to them "coincidence" my throttle body control has died. It was fine until they worked on it and i was on the way to take my car home and noticed the red lightning bolt light flashing off and on and the jerking and stalling happening, which did not do before they worked on it. Now, i can't get them to fix it without them wanting me to pay for it even though, i wasn't having this issue at all.this is a dangerous issue to have considering i drive down a major highway everyday to work and also take my child to school every day on my way to work. This will result in someone getting killed and the manufacturer and the dealerships need to be held accountable.
Car lose power wile driving on the freeway at 65miles p/ hourfrom 65miles to 5mp/h,this is a safety isue, sure be adress as a safety recall,we could get hit from behind at the freeway,we found out that the problem was a failure of the throtle control valve.
The contact owns a 2015 jeep patriot. While driving 65 mph with the cruise control feature activated, the contact deactivated the cruise control; however, it reactivated independently. The brake pedal was depressed and cancelled the cruise control feature. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred three times. An unknown local dealer was contacted by phone and the contact was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Vehicles wipers will not stop, even if switch is set on off! they're on when starting vehicle and still on even while driving.
The dome light which has sun roof controls started leaking water. It poses a safety threat because it distracts the driver by spilling water on the electronic controls in the vehicle which happen to be aligned with the location of leak.
Windshield wipers are going continuously without me turning them on. This happens while i'm driving, sitting at a light, sitting at a stop sign or parked with my engine on.
Hvac heater core. As i was about to exit a major interstate, very hot almost boiling water dripped excessively on my right foot over my gas pedal. There was no where to easily pull over so i had to deal with it until being able to pull into a parking lot off of the exit. I immediately turned my vehicle off and checked beneath the dash. Steaming hot water was dripping from numerous places under the dash, mainly on the drivers side. I was able to take a video showing the steam from the water after it slowed dripping a bit. My vehicle is only 3 years old and has less than 70,000 miles. I believe this to be a major safety concern as i could have easily gotten into an accident. Luckily i could bare with the hot water enough to find a place to park and in addition to that i am so thankful i wasn't wearing open toed shoes or sandals!. Further diagnosis from a local trusted mechanic revealed my heater core now needs to be replaced. I am most definitely not purchasing a jeep again and will be trading it in as soon as possible.
