I went to the chrysler dealership to replace an orc module s61 that was recalled. They replaced the part but right as i was leaving the delearship, my airbag light came on. I called the dealership to let them know because i had to pick up my kids from the bus stop, she told me to bring it up during my oil change the next week. I did and they told me it wasn't their problem, the recall had nothing to do with the airbags, and quoted me at $600 for them to go through my car and check the wires. The service manager did tell me the obd 2 reading was b1c29-left side seat thorax squib 1 open and b1c2d- right side seat thorax squib 1 open; and advised me to unplug and plug all the connectors under the seat. I did this and nothing happened. I called them back and they said they couldn't do anything to fix it and it was my fault not theirs and i recieved the same $600 quote to fix it. I know it happened while they were working on it and i have found a couple of threads with people that had the same problem and they all said to make a complaint on here.

I bought my car as a second hand with the airbag light on and the dealer told me it's a recall that jeep has to fix. I took it to the dealership that specializes in jeep's and they couldn't fix it . Is there any way i can get helped ?

Car is less than 3 years old. 42k miles. Purchased from dealer new in 7-24-2012. Occupant restraint controller module failure. We are being charged for replacement part and labor. Cost in excess of $400 plus diagnosis. I see that this is a rampant problem in other jeep vehicles of similar vintage. The recall recently issued should be extended to this model as well.part # oc 08035034 part cost $203.13.

Nhtsa recall number16v-668the recall was issued months ago and parts are still not available for replacement. I do not like driving around in a car where:vehicles may experience loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in certain crash events due to a shorting condition resulting in a negative voltage transient that travels to the occupant restraint controller via the front impact sensor wires.

Driving down the street car stalling as esc warning and traction light came on. I could not drive and had my car towed to dealership.

My vehicle, along with thousands of others have been under recall for a serious safety concern. Circuits fail, which prevent the airbags from deploying and from seat belts restraining. I have waited 4 months for a resolution and there is nothing. It is unacceptable that i am forced to drive around a hazardous vehicle (pregnant!!!). Jeep should either provide a safe rental vehicle or buy this back. The value of my vehicle has greatly decreased due to this recall. How many people have to be killed before action is taken on this-- this is unacceptable and i would expect that a group whose responsibility is to keep drivers safe would allow this to continue without a resolution. I expect more.

My 2012 jeep patriot was struck on the driver side by a van.the state patrol officer estimated the speed on impact was around 25 mph from the vehicle that hit mine but may have been underestimated because the crush damage and distance the jeep was pushed seems to indicate a higher impact/speed.i was struck my driver side front panel and driver door. Both driver and passenger front airbags deployed, but i had no passenger traveling with me.after everything settled from being knocked unconscious i realized that the side curtain and side impact airbags never deployed. It looks like it may have tried but failed as part of the airbag was exposed.i was transported to a hospital.they found multiple internal injuries and still looking into rotator cuff area and trauma to it.other injuries included bleeding/kidneys by blood in urine, partial collapsed lungwith major bruised ribs, concussion.the vehicle was declared a total loss...updated 09-09-14 updated 12/16/2014

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While the contact's vehicle was stopped and making a left turn, an approaching vehicle ran a stop sign. The other vehicle crashed head on into the driver's side of the contact's vehicle. None of the frontalair bags deployed. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The other driver's insurance company settled and paid for the body repairs. The air bags were not diagnosed or repaired. After the body repairs, the brake, check engine, and air bag indicators illuminated. Eventually, all the instrument panel gauges illuminated. The dealer (beck chevrolet buick gmc, 1601 reid st, palatka, fl 32177, (386) 227-5222) did not assist, but offered to sell the contact a new vehicle. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags). The failure mileage was 29,000. The vin was unknown.

Two years ago i had nielsen jeep in east hanover, nj perform the air bag recall.my jeep patriot had 100,000 on it.i never had the air bag light come on.immediately after they did the recall, the air bag light would come on and off.i returned the jeep to them three times and they stated that they corrected the problem, i just brought jeep in on 12/18/19 and they said i now need a new passenger side air bag at a cost of $1,800.00!they charged me $150.00 to diagnose the system.

Fca notice state: " the potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability during a crash may increase the risk of injury in a crash"if i have 4 children, how do i decide which child sits in the front passenger seat?the one i love less?

A recall was issued in september of 2016 the vehicles may experience loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in certain crash events. This is an unacceptable length of time. I was already contacted by chrysler and they assured me the parts would be available by june but that has already passed. One way or another i should not have to drive a car, potentially, with faulty airbags or seatbelts for a year.

Takata recall, in reference to the occupant restraint controller, i have been given the run around when i call concerning this issue. Am concerned they will self deploy, or not deploy. Have signed up for notifications for replacement parts, and have given the dealership to do the work. To date not a word about my issues or recall notifications, and it's been very upsetting. I worry every time i get behind the wheel, or have a passenger in the car.

My 2012 jeep patriot 4wd 2.4l is around 106,000 miles. About 2 months ago, i was pumping gas and i noticed it was only pumping about 75 cents at a time before stopping. I thought it was a faulty pump but soon began to realize it happened everywhere! my check engine light also comes every now and then, warning me that the catalytic converter is faulty. So i found the recalls for both of these problems which include 2012 patriots, yet they say my car is not covered by the recall. Seriously? the only recall that is covered for my car is 16v-668 which is the occupant restraint. Why are the other problems that are popping up with everyone not covered?

This car has a recall in place for safety issues involving "loss of airbag and seatbelt pretensioner" and/or "occupant restraint controller." yet no parts are available for the repair. Mopar and fiat chrysler are allowing customers and drivers to remain in danger with this delay.

It's been almost 7 months since this recall was announced and it doesn't seem like there's any effort in correcting this issue.i don't feel safe driving this vehicle anymore.i know it's a risk driving a vehicle regardless, but increasing the potential dangers for a reason that isn't my own fault is ridiculous.i wish i could get rid of this thing, but it would be a pretty large loss if i did at this point, so i have to accept it until either they finally fix the issue like they should have months ago, or i get a raise/hit the lottery

I was informed of this recall via us mail nearly a year ago in september of 2016.as of today, july 30, 2017, the nhtsa website still lists this recall as "no repair or resolution available."this is unacceptable.chrysler / jeep must offer a repair to this critical safety recall issue asap.

Takata recall - said vehicle has been on the recall list for 24 months, dealer indicates ongoing issues from manufacturer in obtaining parts to repair recall.

When in idle at a traffic light, the jeep engine shut off randomly with a beeping alarm and red flashing bolt on the dash, required me to turn the key to the off position and restart the car, this has also happened once while vehicle was in motion. Battery is new and both the battery and alternator tested good. When accelerating, braking, or steering, the cabin lights, headlights and dash/radio dim or brighten often slight flickering and some times the interior roof cab lights randomly turn on while driving even when no door is ajar and dimmer switch is turned down or completely off. Appears there is some sort of electrical short or power draw issue. The rear drum breaks continuously squeal, leak and leave rust residue corroding the rims even though i've had them maintained and changed by certified goodyear mechanics

Bought this vehicle used from a dealership with 39,000 miles on it.have not even made 1 car payment yet and have had to get it towed out of my garage to take to the dealer because it would not start one morning. Dealer diagnosed it as having a faulty wcm module around $400 to fix.not a good start to owning a jeep.

Takata recalljust wondering when this might be fixed.it has been 4-5 months since we were notified.worries me it may not be safe to drive.

I was driving my 2012 jeep patriot down a regular street and it suddenly slowed down and dash lights went on.the electronic throttle control system light went on along with the check engine light and traction control light.

When idle, vehicle's engine light, traction control, and electronic throttle light come on to the dash. When putting the vehicle in drive or reverse, acceleration is very low. Vehicle has a difficult time accelerating. Max speed will be at about 30 mph. This has also happened while driving, as well. Battery was replaced and throttle body as well, via mechanic's code readings from the vehicle. Car continues to show week accelerating.

When i turn my blinkers on left or right blinker, the windshield wipers come on.not every time, but at least once a day.catalytic converter emissions will not pas inspections. This car is not that old and have read many people complaining about the catalytic converter not passing inspection because of emissions. My car will not pass inspection and was told they were recalling jeep patriots.

Had driven approximately 8 miles and was on downward slope when vehicle shut off. Was able to crank it then was driving it the 8 miles back home when it shut off again, this time on a flat roadway. Was unable to crank it this time after several attempts and 45 minutes. When this happened, vehicle completely stopped and lost power steering. Had it towed to dealership and they were unable to determine what had happened and vehicle cranked for them. No errors on the computer. After testing it and driving it 13 miles, no determination made on what caused the problem.

I was driving on the freeway and my jeep just shut off. I was in the middle of heavy traffic at night and was almost hit because i was unable to move my car to the side and my lights were not working. I waited a while and my car started again and after a couple miles of travel it shut off again.

I was driving home from work at approximately 55 mph while passing a tractor trailer up a moderate incline when the engine of my 2012 jeep patriot latitude failed. Upon passing the tractor trailer, all of the indicators on the dashboard began to light up - then the indicators, as well as my headlights, completely died. When the lights went out, the engine failed, and my car began to slow to a complete stop on a busy highway. I was barely able to get into a small space on the shoulder of the highway before a tractor trailer very nearly took my life. At first, i thought it was the car battery. I purchased this vehicle 13 days ago, so perhaps the battery had gotten weak on the dealer lot in the winter months. And, after my car was jumped, it began to work. However, the car could only be started once, and the engine will no longer turn over. It has been towed to a local dealership. I drive extensively for a living, and i am afraid that i will die in a car accident in this jeep patriot because the car failed completely at highway speeds. I have researched this and have found that it is a problem with 2011-2012 jeep patriots. Please enforce a recall!

This is the first of 2 incidents i have had with this car.i was coming back into california from arizona on the 40 west with cruise control on at 75 mph.without indication, the throttle revved to 4500 rpm and the car lost speed.the engine was unresponsive to the gas pedal.i cancelled cruise control, and from the left lane was able to get over to the right shoulder.when we came to a stop, the engine died.the fuel gauge read just over 1/4 of a tank.the car would not start again.we called roadside assistance and they called a tow truck.the dealership was closed and we had to stay the night in a hotel.the next morning the car was taken to the dealership.the tech found no issues and was able to start the car with no incident.the diagnostic revealed no codes or errors.we were able to drive home the rest of the way.my jeep is a 4x4 with the trail rated package.

Driving on the frwy car turned off and would not turn back on , from then in it has has trouble starting light signals trip . I've been stranded with no crank. Took it to several mechanics all whom saynits a faulty tpim . With a $1000 or more fix.

Driving downhill on south i-15 through phelan at 4pm approximately 95 degrees outside. Accelerator became non-responsive. Rpms dropped to idle speeds. Vehicle was essentially 'coasting' with the engine running. Unable to accelerate at all. Pumping accelerator was resulting in nothing. Engine temp was not above halfway mark, about 1/3 tank of fuel. No engine warning lights. Changing gears electronically (automatic) not helpful. Was able to make it to off-ramp since i was traveling downhill. Engine promptly died when i came to a complete stop. Upon pulling the key out and re-inserting the electronic throttle control error light illuminated. Engine would not turn over. Attempted to reset computer not helpful. Approximately 45 minutes later (and phone calls for road-side service) etc light went away. Computer reset may have finally taken. Vehicle started with no problem. Drove the final 35 miles home without incident. Could have been a completely different situation had i not been traveling downhill at speed. Have not yet contacted dealer as i am out of new car warranty. Numerous other complaints about issues at speed have me very concerned.

The vehicle was purchased approximately two weeks prior to the incident with just shy of 15000 miles on it. Two separate two to three hour trips were made in the vehicle before the incident with no problems. On the tail end of a two and a half hour trip, after cruising between 70 to 75 mph on a major interstate, all of a sudden the vehicle's rpms shot up and the engine lost power. The vehicles behind me nearly rear ended me. I coasted to the shoulder, put the vehicle into park, and turned the vehicle off. I then cranked the vehicle and continued driving. The same incident happened again approximately fifteen miles further. I pulled over, turned the vehicle off, and then turned it back on, attempting to reach my destination if possible. This incident then happened a third time, approximately 5 to 10 miles further, once again on the same interstate, but this time in the middle of city traffic. I coasted to the shoulder and attempted to restart the vehicle. At this point the vehicle would not start. We had the vehicle towed and sent to a dealership where they could not recreate the problem. The cpu did not report any error codes. Each time this happened, i was nearly rear ended as i was cruising at interstate speeds in heavy traffic. The vehicle is still being inspected, but the dealerships cannot seem to recreate the problem, which is a big problem because i will be moving across country in two months and cannot risk this happening again. This vehicle as it stands is a danger not only to the driver but for other drivers on the road near the vehicle.

I was stopped at a traffic light and i had a package that was taped shut.i tried to use my keys (that were still in the ignition) to slice through the packages packing tape.my house key didn't cut the tape so i quickly gave up.i now believe that my attempting this was pulling down on my key ring and ignition key.when the light turned green i hit the gas and nothing happened - because my car had shut off.there were no dash lights on (like oil pressure) that you would usually see when a car stalled.the radio was still on but that is normal behavior on this model when you turn off the engine & remove the key; the radio does not turn off until you open the door.i am reporting this because this sounds a lot like the ongoing gm ignition switch problems.

Driving 65 mpg car just shut down in traffic, barely got it off line of traffic, could not get it started, calledtow truck, was a hot day, and a couple of hours later tow truck came and towed us to nearest jeep dealer, after taking it off the tow truck at the dealer, it immediately started. The put it on the computer said theycouldn't find anything and did not know how to proceed, they were concerned but unable to help. We then finished our trip and brought it back to our local dealer, and they were unable to find anythingeither.do not like the possibility that this can or will happen again, next time it could cause an accident.

Due to the recall on the air bag module the fuse blew out causing the wiring harness to catch fire burning up the whole harness and if replaced the problem will still persist due to no part for the air bag module was driving down the road and have to pull over and call the fire department

My jeep has been to the dealer five times for a major sunroof water leak please help .my jeep smells like mildew the radio and ac controls are not working correctly and there is only 28000 miles on my jeep...........

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the computer module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 15,200.

Car wouldn't start one month ago. It wouldn't even turn after 3 attempts. After 10 minutes it started right up and had been normal. Today, 9/15/19, my car started up fine but 2 minutes into driving at 20mph my carlost all power.i was driving through my work parking lot driving in a forward motion. Several lights lit up in my dashboard prior to losing power. I was fortunate enough to not be on the freeway. I put my car in brake and restarted it. It started right up, but now has check engine light displayed. My battery is a few months old. I've tested it and it's charged. I'm afraid to drive my car and consider it not in a drivable state. If my car were to die on the freeway that would be a very dangerous situation. Car defect that caused this is unknown. .

This is the second incident that i have had with this car.the first incident was very similar.this time i was coming back from arizona into california and i was on the 15 south between barstow and victorville.i was traveling at approximately 70 mph in the left lane.the cruise control was previously, but had been cancelled and i had traveled appr. 10 miles after canceling it.without warning the throttle revved and became unresponsive.the car stalled and i was unable to get to the right shoulder.i pulled over to the left shoulder.the fuel gauge read halfway between 1/4 and 1/2.the engine would not restart.i called roadside assistance and had the car towed to the dealer in victorville.when the car was taken off the tow truck, i was able to start it again.i drove home the rest of the way.i took the car to the dealership 2 weeks after this incident to have it looked at.the car had not been driven at all since the incident.the dealer ran diagnostic tests and concluded the issue was with the transmission overheating due to mud.i was advised the transmission was designed to shut off if it got too hot with little to no warning.this is the second time this has happened with this vehicle and i have not observed any warning light on the dashboard before the engine cuts off.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle started to lose power and failed to accelerate. The electric throttle control warning light illuminated right before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. The vin was not available.

I recently learned of the recalls for my vehicle after i had bought it. I am having a similar issue as described for the recalled fuel system issues. I don't know if it was ever fixed in my vehicle or even if the vehicle was checked for it.

Car stalls out going down the road. Car most recently starts and dies right after. We are getting fuel.

Stopped my 2012 patriot at a light to turn left. I stepped on gas pedal to accelerate forward but no acceleration/revving occurred. When the pedal was depressed no resistance was felt but rather the pedal went to the floor with no acceleration/revving twice. I repeated this again with no acceleration/revving. On the third attempt the patriot accelerated forward.the service department said to turn off engine and restart the vehicle to get the electrical system in sync. The vehicle was driven on highway for 30 minutes then 15 city traffic, air temp 38 degrees, pavement dry to wet (melting snow).

Driving down the street car stalling as esc warning and traction light came on. I could not drive and had my car towed to dealership.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while reversing from a residential driveway, the vehicle stalled. All of the warning lights started to illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle would not restart. The dealer was notified of the failure and sent a technician to inspect the vehicle. The technician informed the contact that the battery failed and jump started the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was 1,783.

While on the freeway, speed 65-70 my car suddenly lost all acceleration and a winding noise accompanies the loss. Sometimes the temp gauge or electric throttle light will light up. This has happened a total of 4 times over the past 2 months. All 4 times i have been able to wait an hour, start the car drives normally. After each occasion i've taken the car to a chrysler jeep dealer. Either they say it's a misfire, or i need a tune up or an ignition coil. I've since had all these repairs and the issue continues. This is very unsafe. I've had my kids in the car every time, thankfully i avoided getting rear ended and now drive in the slow lane not over 65 mph just to be prepared for my jeep to do this again. I'm scared to drive this car.

(1) seat belts/air bags: have not had noticeable issues with these yet however are associated with a chrysler recall #s61. Is a safety risk because i commute to work daily on the free way and could get into a car accident which could be deadly if the air bags did not deploy or if the seatbelt did not work properly.(2) air bags, electrical system, seat belts: chrysler recall # n01; electrical system began having issues spontaneously after buying the vehicle and have persisted. Warning signals on dash will flicker on and off while driving which seems to be electrical-related. Jeep will also randomly alert while driving making a, "ding" noise when there is no cause for alarm. This software/electrical error could cause air bags to not deploy properly and can adversely affect the seatbelt pre-tensioners as well which could be deadly in a high-speed freeway accident.(3) fuel system, gasoline: chrysler recall # n17; jeep has lurched while in motion driving as if the engine was stalling or as if there was something wrong with the transmission. Jeep will lurch most often when accelerating and it seems as though the transmission is getting stuck or the engine is stalling because the rpm reading will shoot up then drop back down to almost nothing.(4) fuel system, gasoline, storage tank, assembly: chrysler is recalling certain model year 2012 jeep patriot's due to some vehicles being built with a fuel tank assembly containing a damaged roll-over valve.(5) suspension: constant squeaking in back suspension of vehicle while in motion, especially when going over bumps or driving on uneven ground. Automotive shop has yet to be able to determine the cause or issue resulting in the squeaking and creaking and we have been going to them for the past 2 years for vehicle maintenance.

We bought this car for my son in dec 2016.in the summer of 2017, he was driving down the freeway at about 70 mph.after driving for about an hour, maybe two hours on the freeway, his car literally shut down.it went from 70 mph to 20 mph immediately.this happened 4 times last summer.we took the car to lithia dodge of santa rosa, ca twice.they couldn't duplicate the problem.i had him come home (chester, ca) and took it to where we bought it at susanville auto center in susanville, ca.they couldn't duplicate the problem either.they did say that they had two other jeeps with the same transmission that the customers said they had the same issues.again, they couldn't duplicate the problem.just now, my son called (he is on his way up for easter) and he is stuck in woodland, ca alongside the freeway.it happened again.susanville motors had us change the transmission fluid which we did (over $400) to hopefully fix the problem.it obviously didn't.it is only 75 degrees right now.the car doesn't show any sign of overheating, all fluids are good, but then all of a sudden, after driving freeway speeds, the overheating light will come on and the car will shut down.the temperature gage says everything is great.i have gone on the internet and found some chat areas where other people are having the same problem.when is jeep going to put in a recall on this issue?they have to know about it.is it going to take my son getting into an accident and getting hurt, or even worse, killing himself?i am petrified about this.i turned in a case last summer (case # 32398610) and spoke with a wonderful lady by the name of kaylee.please help.jeep won't do anything.

While driving to work, i was slowing down to stop behind a bus but then had the opportunity to pass the bus.as i tried to switch lanes, my car stalled and i was stuck in between two lanes. I had to slowly drift my car to the side of the road and could hardly steer it.once pulled over to the side of the road i tried to restart but the car would not restart.after sitting for five minutes, the vehicle restarted and i was able to drive without a problem.the first dealership said that it could have stalled because it was wet outside, which is completely unreasonable.at the second dealership, i didn't receive a much better explanation.they said that it could have been static electricity which caused it to turn off. As of right now, it has not happened again but it has not been a week since the incident.

I have had numerous problems with my 2012 jeep patriot. From the beginning my transmission would constantly over heat and i brought it into the dealer at about 30,000 miles and they said, "there is nothing wrong." the problem persisted and finally they issued me a new transmissionat about 50,000 miles. A few months later, the engine just stopped continuously on the highway & street. Then they discovered that it was the crankshaft sensor that was bad, which they replaced. I had to pay $100 because of a deductible. The car seemed to be working okay until june 22nd, 2015 when i was on a road trip and all of a sudden the car completely died with a huge semi truck behind me. I was traveling at about 75 mph and the car just completely shut down, power steering, everything went off except for the lights and other items run by the battery. We immediately tried our best to signal and finally made it safely off the highway at speeds of under 15 mph. The car gave us no check lights and no indication as to what was wrong with the vehicle except for that it would not turn over when we tried to start it. We had to have the vehicle towed while on a road trip. We live in california and had to have the vehicle towed in idaho falls, idaho which was extremely inconvenient. We rented a car and left the 2012 jeep patriot at the dealer hoping they could fix it upon our return to that area. They were unable to give us any answers and said the car started fine. Obviously, you can see how this is an issue. I have no problem fixing the car but with no answers to what is wrong and having the constant worry of wondering if my life and my family's life is in danger, is not something i am willing to tolerate. It seems that many people are having the same issue as well. I will be forwarding this for them to make a complaint as well. I will also follow up hoping that this issue can be resolved.

I replace a transmission through the jeep dealership now i am having problem again with the tranny it stalls . I have to cut it off to restart it for it to have power to pull off.

The tipm completely went out when driving which filled thejeep with smoke and started to burn very dangours had no power at all had to have towed stopped in the middle of the road

I was driving down a interstate with my infant son in the back of the car when it shut off on me including dash lights and radio. Iwas fortunate to get it off the side of the road safely. I took it to a jeep dealership and they advised that my tipm went bad. This is a major safety concern. I did read newer jeeps were having the same issue.

The tipm failed and ruined the ac compressor. Leaving my with a lot of expensive electrical issues and the engine still stalls no matter what i fix.*dtengine stalls while accerlating between 20-40mph.consumer stated vehicle was taken to the dealer twice.spark plugs and 2 new ac compressors replacfed after tipm blew.consumer stated vehicle still has problems.*dt*as

We have now had 2 episodes of our 2012 jeep patriot suddenly losing power while driving on the interstate at between 65 to 70 mph.the first time was on i39 in southern illinois when the temperature was in the 90s.we were able to pull off on to the shoulder.after several attempts we were able to restart the car and got to the nearest gas station.the indicator showed almost 1/2 tank of gas but after filling up the car ran well.we were listening to the radio and heard a report that several gas stations in southern wi had gotten gas contaminated with water.since we live in that area we decided that this had been the problem.we did not report the incident.on sunday, 2/3/13, i was traveling on i94 in wi, temp 6 degrees, between 1/4 and 1/2 tank. .again, the car began to lose power.i was able to pull off the road, barely, called jeep for assistance.the jeep would not restart at first, then, after 10 minutes did restart but wouldn't keep running.i was towed 45 miles to the nearest dealer.in the morning, the car started, the jeep garage checked it on the computer and found nothing.they thought that the gas line might have frozen up.this did not seem logical, but he did give me verification that it had been checked out and felt the car was safe to drive .i am very concerned about this happening again.we were lucky, but this could have caused a terrible accident.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and decelerated. In addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate as an abnormal noise came from the front of the vehicle and stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after a while. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the totally integrated power module (tipm), and brake light switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,846.

Driving on the frwy car turned off and would not turn back on , from then in it has has trouble starting light signals trip . I've been stranded with no crank. Took it to several mechanics all whom saynits a faulty tpim . With a $1000 or more fix.

2 incidents same day. Vehicle in motion, lost of control, poor response of steering wheel, brakes not responding, engine and/or electrical system not working properly. Engine cutting off. Tipm problem. Esc and engine lights on. Sounds of car surging. No acceleration in some cases and uphill in particular. We could have got killed if it had happened on the highway for sure.

I was driving down the road when all of a sudden my car felt like it pulled back then just shut off in the middle of the road thankfully there wasn't a car behind me or there would have been a serious accident. After a few tries the car started, so i drove it home then the next morning i took it to the dealer. They stated after getting it back to me 2 days later that there wasn't a code, so they'd cleared the check engine light and gave it back to me. The following week i'm driving down the main road on my way home from work and the car does the same thing. This time it was really scary, because it was rush hour and i almost got hit by a car. I attempted to start it several times then sat for a bit with the four ways then tried it again. It started up and i drove it right to the dealer. I was so shaken it took a few minutes before i finally let them know what happened again. I left the car with them then the next day they called me to come get it. I went in where they told me that it had been the crankshaft sensor that had caused the problem. I'm truly afraid to drive my vehicle i keep wondering if it will happen again. I never had problems with my used cars, but i got a new car thinking i wouldn't have to worry about anything and now i have to worry about this car turning off in the middle of the highway.

While driving or in a parked position while the engine runs, the rpm needle drops to zero 0 and my car doesn't accelerate when pressing the gas pedal. There are times i am on the highway and rpm drops to zero 0 and i have to pull over on the shoulders. I would have to put the car in park, and shut my car off for extra minutes or more before i can fully restart it. If i try turning the car on before the 2 minutes it would take a longer time to restart. This is very dangerous because the car shut off when i'm at the stop light, in the middle of the highway. When making a turn, and the rpm needle drops to zero 0, my steering wheel becomes so stiff/harden and is very very difficult to complete the turn.

Engine stalls out and loss of power steering, brake, at highway speed caused me to veer off the road several times. Couldn't stop during one engine stall in town and turned into a cvs pharmacy lot and crashed into and island curb, engine stall pulled of hwy into a cemetery and hit a post during a stall while turning because of loss of power steering. While pulling to shoulder jeep swayed and pulled into ditch when engine stalled at hwy speed. While trying to correct the vehicle went air born at night...

While shifting into third gear the vehicle revved really high and wouldn't allow me to shift. After towing the patriot to the shop i was informed the transmission was totalled. The next incident happened a year later the vehicle failed to start. I have to turn off the key and wait then attempt to.restart. The car always started but it took as many as 6 tries some times. The dealer ran diagnostic test butcame up with nothing. They couldn't get the vehicle to duplicate. Very frustrating and ridiculous. Chrysler is aware of the issue but won't have a fix until the first quarter of 2016.

On october 28, 2015 with about 50,000 miles on it, my jeep went into limp mode while i was driving 55 mph. Luckily i was able to pull over to the shoulder before getting rear-ended. Multiple lights turned on including the electronic throttle control, check engine, and traction control. I unhooked the battery and waited a few minutes. Hooked it back up and it seemed to be fine. Until march 13, 2016 when i was driving my daughter to the mall for her birthday. I was driving on a busy 4 lane road when my car seemed to turn off or loose all power while climbing a hill. Again, i just avoided being rear ended and pulled over to the side.i turned the key off, took it out, waited a few minutes and started it again and it worked. We went shopping and went back home without a problem, until the next day. March 14, 2016 while driving my daughters to school my jeep went into limp mode. Luckily i was in the village and only going 30 mph, but all of the lights came on again-electronic throttle control, traction control, and check engine. I drove it back home and had it towed to the dealership. The dealership said that they did not know what was wrong with it. That after resetting the battery and performing a diagnostic check, only a vac leak was detected. They performed a check and confirmed (according to my invoice) that there were "no vacuumleaks at this time per code" and that "could be many things." and they "cleared codes and road tested ok at this time." so i drove it home from the dealership and to work today with no problems. When i went to go home, all the lights came on again. I do not feel safe and i feel stuck. No one seems to want to fix it because they do not know what to fix... And this is pathetic when even the dealership that i bought it from can not help. I am afraid someone will be killed if a solution is not found to this common problem with jeep patriots.

Car stalls out going down the road. Car most recently starts and dies right after. We are getting fuel.

A few months ago my vehicle started to randomly stall and jerk. We thought nothing of it. Then a few weeks ago my engine light came on and a warning that something was wrong with the fuel cap. A few days later all of that stopped coming on. Yesterday as i was pulling out of my neighborhood several lights came on for the stability control and the electrical throttle light came on as well. I was going up a hill and my vehicle barely made it up the hill. I got back to my driveway turned it off and tried again and it was the same issue. I've made an appointment at the dealership to find out the problem, but this came out of no where. I haven't tried to drive the vehicle for safety reasons.

I bought a jeep thru randy wise durand 3 monthss ago. Since buying it is has been relaired w or 3 times for the enginee randomly stopping while driving. This past time i was on the highway going 70 with a semi behind me when the engine for no reason just stopped running. We were almost killed because the jeep went from 70 to 0 with a semi behind us that almost slammed us. It just "shuts off" when it feels like it. Randy wise has not offered a replacement and cannot seem to fix it. A witness is available.

While traveling at highway speeds on interstate 5 near bakersfield california, and under cruise control, my 2012 jeep patriot stalled and lost power to the tires.at that moment, the check engine, electronic stability control, and electric systems (red lightning bolt) lights all began to flash.i was able to pull off the freeway safely.being only a few miles from my eventual destination, i attempted to continue to drive the vehicle.i was able to keep the vehicle in gear at very low rpms (sub 2500).at rpms over 2500, however, the engine would misfire and i would experience no acceleration.with the vehicle still partially disabled, i was able to reach my destination.i turned the vehicle off, unloaded my luggage, and then returned to inspect the engine compartment.seeing that all belt, hose, and cable connections were secure, and all fluids at their proper levels, i restarted the engine and drove the vehicle successfully for about a mile, with no evidence of the recent symptoms.being that the vehicle is still so new, and well maintained, this particular incident was particularly alarming.

I was driving my 2012 jeep patriot on the highway when simultaneously, the electronic throttle control light started blinking red, my car started to jerk forward, and lost power. This reoccurred several times on the way to get it looked at. Each time it happened, i had to shut the vehicle off, wait a few minutes, and then restart. I took it to a jeep dealer and without even looking at it, the guy said it would be about $600 to fix (even though i still have power train warranty). This to me looks like this is a reoccurring problem that jeep is aware of, but is not doing anything about. Luckily each time this happened, i was able to pull over and avoid an accident, others might not be so lucky. Until this problem is resolved, my jeep is not safe to drive.

Stalls at low speed (40 mph or less) and at idle, most often with some engine load -- like ac is on or turning the steering wheel. It stalls more often in the afternoon than in the morning.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 75 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to merge to the shoulder of the road however, the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. There was a concurrent investigation under nhtsa action number: pe12032 (engine) that could have been related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 23,400.

During the summer or any hot day, and especially during speeds over 65 miles per hour my jeep engine will stall.. Meaning it will reduce speed and then stop... This has happened every summer for years, and is now happening again during driving in traffic, and has effectively left me stranded at times on the road... I have had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership.i will show you the warning indicator light it presents with.i am dating the problem as 06/18/16 even though there have been multiple occurrences.

Car stalls at every stop. While driving high way speeds for a few minutes it drops down in speed causing you close call accidents because it is very sudden. If i drive the jeep and come to a complete stop regardless if at stop sign red light or behind traffic the car will turn off having me to turn the key in off position and put it in park to start it again. If i am on the highway driving i can be going 45 mph and all of sudden the jeep starts declining in its acceleration and will not go above 10mph. Also when initially starting up if i have to back up it turns off while in the middle of backing up. This issue is been known to happen to a few people who i know that own the same exact jeep or the 2013 model. Also have had it checked out and only thing that pops up is a code for the gas cap which i have replaced and still pops the code for it

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact was driving 65 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the crankshaft sensor. The failure however, recurred twice and the crankshaft sensor was replaced twice. The failure recurred a third time and the vehicle was taken back at the dealer where the contact was awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,100. ..udated08-30-12 updated09/07/2012

My car stalled after being parked for 45 min. In a parking lot of a local store, as i attempted to back out of the space. I restarted it and as i tried to back out, while moving only a foot or so, it stalled again. It made no sound at all while turning the key, but all the electronics worked, ie. Lights, windows, radio, etc. It would not restart, after multiple attempts, i left it there over night and the next day it restarted, and i drove it for about a couple of minutes to the end of the lot where it stalled again while moving about 5 mph. It would not restart, so i had it towed to a shop where a friend works. They could not find the cause, but did get a code for the ecu/ecm. I don't know what number the error code was, but they don't do those types of repairs. It remains in their lot at this time as i try to figure out my next step. It is a jeep patriot sport (2.4 l) automatic with only 17,500 actual miles.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving over 40 mph, the vehicle randomly stalled without warning. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was pushed over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to tunkhannock auto mart: dodge ram chrysler jeep (located at 509 joseph hunter highway, tunkhannock, pa 18657), but a failure code could not be found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 5843398. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle failed to shift into second gear. The contact noticed that the rpms increased. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. The vin was not provided.

During driving car got stalled suddenly and engine stopped and locked and prevented to move off from road with evap check engine light. My family in the car and someone behind about to hit at the back and its a major issue if engine lock down while driving

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the temperature warning indicator kept randomly illuminating and the engine overheated. The failure caused the contact to have to wait a brief moment and place the vehicle in neutral in order for it to cool down to be able to drive the vehicle. The dealer (bill dodge, 118 pleasant st, brunswick, me 04011, (207) 721-8300) from where the vehicle was purchased provided no owner's manual and replaced the cvt transmission; however, the warning indicator kept flashing. The dealer stated that the part needed to be replaced again. In addition, the dealer refused to provide an owner's manual; therefore, the contact had to research a solution and obtain information on his own. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, opened a case, and then closed the case with no solution other than replacing the same part. The vehicle was unsafe to drive because the temperature warning indicator could illuminate at any time. In addition, the vehicle failed to shift properly and was slow to pick up speed. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

My husband and i were driving from new mexico to wyoming.the average speeds were between 65 and 75.after driving for about 5 hours, with stops every 2 hours to rest and get gas, the transmission light came on and the jeep lost power.we pulled over to the side of the road and let it sit for about 10 min until the light went off.we drove the rest of the way at much lower speeds.between 50 and 60 mph.the transmission overheated again on the way back after 6 hours or so, with stops every 2 hours.the dealership we took it to told us that there were no error codes, and no problems with the transmission or its fluid.there was nothing for them to fix.they advised us to stop often if we were planning on traveling for long distances.thankfully (but very scary) we were in the middle of nowhere when it happened and not in the middle of heavy traffic.

It always happens while on the freeway.after a chokehold hours of driving, gas tank is fine,my cause shuts off, unable to accel and no function to increase speed.i have to then pull to the side and wait for it to "cool down." this has happened 3 times.last time it happened i had only been driving for 1 hr and the transmission temp. Warning light came on.

The following incident has occurred twice within the last week and a half: today, while driving (luckily coming to a stop) my jeep began shaking violently and the engine shut off. It restarted and drove normally. Last weekend, while backing out of a parking space, the check engine light flashed and i immediately lost steering (soon realizing that the vehicle had shut off). Again, it restarted and drove normally. Had this occurred while driving on the interstate at a higher speed i'm sure the consequences could have been worse that causing concern. However, i have read on the jeep forum that this problem has been occurring in 2011 and 2012 jeep patriots at higher speeds, one with a fatality. That alone is very disheartening. My jeep currently has 10, 430 miles on it, i bought it in april of 2012.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle shut down. After an hour, the vehicle restarted on its own. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer for diagnostic testing. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Engine stopped suddenly at 75 mph - near-miss rear-end collision with overtaking traffic. Conditions: after 3 1/2 hrs highway driving, same tank of gas, gentle left-hand curve, just after sunset, air temperature 39 degrees, albuquerque, nm. Engine would not restart. Returned 2 hrs later with tow truck, engine caught, started, stuttered, stalled multiple times. Towed to dealer. Engine started normally next morning. Still at dealer for evaluation.

I was driving my vehicle on an interstate in houston, texas at 71 mph and suddenly my engine stalled and i could not control my vehicle.several vehicles behind me had to swerve around me and nearly hit my vehicle.my vehicle eventually came to a stop and i was able to re-start the engine.the vehicle i was driving is a 2012 jeep patriot with 42,700 miles on it.i have had 2 previous warranty recalls fixed on this vehicle - one related to a fuel transfer tube and the other for a vehicle occupant restraint.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving 40 mph, the engine stalled without warning. A local dealer (tunkhannock auto mart located at 509 joseph hunter highway tunkhannock, pa 18857 877-816-4325) was called, but failed to respond. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 71,044.

I have had my 2012 jeep patriot for over a year and just recently, in the last 5 months, the engine will randomly stall while i am driving or idling at a light/stop sign. There is no warning or indication as to why this happens. It has happened at various speeds ranging from 25 mph to 60 mph. It has happened on residential roads and on the freeway. Luckily, each time it has happened i have been able to get over to the shoulder pretty quickly. When it first started happening, i would turn it off and be able to start it right away. It has been happening more frequently lately. Sometimes it happens anywhere between 2 to 6 times a day. It's very random. Sometimes days go by before it happens and then sometimes it happens every single day. It never happens when i am turning. Only when i am driving. Never in reverse. When it stalls, the engine completely shuts off and my steering wheel locks up. The lights, radio, etc stay on. Once it stalls and i turn the jeep completely off, it is taking longer and longer for it to start back up again. Once it stalls, the check engine light comes on and stays on. Sometimes the light is off in the morning after i park my jeep overnight and sometimes the light is still on in the morning when i get up to drive my jeep.

On a saturday, my wife was on the freeway driving about 70mph, away from home, heavy traffic and 3 kids in the patriot.the jeep lost all power (saw the red lightening bolt indicator on the dash), then stalled and she had to immediately transition to the edge of the freeway, which had a very narrow shoulder.she attempted for an hour and a half to start the jeep.a state trooper showed up advised it was unsafe for the kids.the trooper took the kids to the local chrysler/jeep dealer.the jeep was taken to local dealer.the sales manager, after the jeep came off the tow truck was able to start the jeep.he said maybe she accidentally activated the 4wd, then proceeded to tape it down and told her if it runs ok on sunday she should be ok to drive home. My wife was able to drive the patriot sunday and started home on monday. About 30 miles from home it happened again, the lightening bolt, lost all power and it stalled. She was on the freeway at 70mph and had to merge to the shoulder with medium traffic conditions.she tried to start the patriot for 40 minutes, it did not start.while waiting for the tow truck a chp officer stopped, stated as the trooper had previously,it was unsafe for the kids to be on the freeway. He took them to the local chrysler/jeep dealer so they would be safe. Bottom line "the jeep lost all power (saw the red lightening bolt indicator on the dash), then stalled" twice in 3 days. Chrysler/jeep to date has stated, if there are no codes there is nothing they can do. This vehicle is unsafe to drive as indicated by my wife's experience and 7 other complaints listed on this site. Please do something about this unsafe vehicle condition before somebody gets killed.

Engine shuts off while driving and will not restart.electrical seems to keep working and engine will turn over but not restart.let the vehicle sit for a couple hours and it may restart.happened 3 times and each time had the jeep towed to dealer and dealer could not find any problem.on the 3rd breakdown the dealer installed these new partsmodule fuel pump, module fuel pump level unit, level uni-auxiliary unit,tube-fuel transfer, fuel module seal.i have drove the jeep a couple thousand mile since the repair.its hard to tell if its actually repaired because the jeep would run over a thousand miles between failures.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. After the contact filled up the vehicle with fuel and while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but did not assist. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Engine stalled while driving !!! engine light came on with chime . Huge problem. And only 9000 miles. I really am mad, and now fear i could be killed driving this vehicle. All service oil changes, have been at a certified jeep dealership. I guess im not alone looking online..... Jeep patriot is junk. Needs to be recalled and off the road before someone is killed while driving this vehicle.

Vehicle will die during driving. Causing everything to not function correctly. Until it is able to be restarted.

While on the interstate, i was in the fast lane attempting to pass another vehicle when i started to hear this strange noise and i began to lose acceleration and the transmission light with the circle around it came on. It was a very scary thing because i had a car behind me that was very close. I was able to pull over to the shoulder. I pulled out my owners manual to see what was going on. I followed the instructions by putting it in neutral and idling it for a few minutes. It eventually stopped making that noise and the light went out and i started out on my way again. I still had a 2 hour drive left on my trip and i was scared it would happen again before i could get home. I took it to my local jeep dealership this morning and basically was told there were no sensors lighting up and they couldn't fix the problem if they couldn't replicate it. So i'm left with a car that i can't trust.

I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a busy street. I put my foot on the accelerator to gain speed and there was no response. I could not accelerate. The check engine light came on. I was able to turn the car off and back on and was then able to accelerate. I had the car towed to the dealership. The dealership had the car for a week and said the car was fixed without giving much of an explanation. I had the car back for 2 day and it happened to me again twice. I took the car back to the dealership and they have had it for an additional week with no diagnosis. They say they have not been able to get the car to replicate the issue. I am concerned to drive the car as this has happened to me on three occasions on busy streets and it is very dangers.

Accelerating on the interstate when the engine died. Would not start for the next 2 1/2 hours. Dealership found nothing wrong the next morning. Electrical systems all appeared fine, car would not turn over. No "error codes" appeared when diagnostics were performed.

I was driving on us 23 south just entering toledo when the vehicle lost power and after driving 4 hours at highway speeds.i was going about 60 mph at the time.as this has happened before, i pulled off at the exit at dropping power..could the car to go at most 10 mph and pulled into a service station to check fluids and refuel.after a few minutes the car restarted and was able to drive again.taking the car into dealer but they already disavowed any recalls or reported troubles with the jeep.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred numerous times while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three different occasions but the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer had not been notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 6,500 and the current mileage was 7,500.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft sensor connector needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000. The vin was not provided.

The engine is randomly stalling. It stalled the other day at the highway and keeps randomly doing it without any warning. I have to pull over every time and wait a couple of minutes to turn it on. It seems by reading this has been reported for the same model multiple times.

After pumping gas, less than a mile into my trip home, my jeep's started stalling, the power steering went off (i couldn't easily turn the steering wheel) and it died in the middle of the road.i turned the key in the ignition to the off position, then back on and i was able to started it.i only moved about 500 feet and then it happened again. I turned it off, back on again and the same thing happened a third time, as i was getting home.i sat on my parking spot and the jeep was stalling but it didn't die again. I looked up jeep forums and it seem to be a common problem and people resolve it by not filling the tank all the way. Needless to say it was a very scary experience and it could've easily caused an accident.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while parked with the engine running, the vehicle stalled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Engine stalled at 45 miles/hour at three different occasions over a 3 day time frame. After approximately 5 minute the engine could be started up again. The dealership replaced a crankshaft sensor as a supposed fix. After driving the vehicle for 15 to 20 miles the engine would shut down again without warning. This time the engine started and stalled 6 consecutive times over a distance of less then one mile. The car was towed to the dealership. The problems described occurred while driving on state road and north medina line road, west of akron, ohio. The condition described is dangerous as the loss of engine operation renders car handling (stearing and braking) very difficult. Engine stall at the third time stated above happened at a sharp right curve with on-comming trafic. A collission was narrowly avoided.

When the vehicle slowed down and waited at intersection or middle lane, the engine shuts off by itself. When it is restarted, the power is back either immediately or after a few minutes. I read online and many many customers reported this problem, ranging from very new jeep patriot (less than 10,000 miles) to driving at high speed. The links are shown below:http://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/patriot/automatic-transmission-control-module-problems.phphttps://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/5-jeep-patriot-general-discussion/92388-help-engine-shut-down.htmlwhen i took it to the dealer, they can not figure out the causes. The last time, they said it is the transmission control module issue. Since so many customers reported this issue, this vehicle needs a recall. The unexpected shutoff is very dangerous.

On 8/19/14 my 2012 jeep patriot had 30,666 miles. I made a right turn onto the highway out of a shopping center parking lot and as soon as i had made the turn my car stalled out. I coasted a bit and pulled into the parking lots next entrance. I parked my jeep and turned my key as if i was shutting my car off and then tried to turn it back on. To my surprise is turned on and i drove around the parking lot a little without another issue.. Iimmediately called a jeep dealer but they told me unless the issue happened again they couldn't do anything about it. I was lucky no one rear ended me. It's a very busy highway. I bought a jeep because i thought it'd be a safe vehicle to drive myself, my husband and my 1 year old baby around in. After this happened on the highway i have been extra cautious because i'm afraid it will stall again and we may not be as lucky the next time. I hope they will recall all chrysler vehicles made with this faulty fuel pump.we all deserve a safe vehicle.

Stopped at red light on incline, went to go car would only roll backwards with no engine running. Turned off key, restarted vehicle. Stopped at same light incident was repeated 2 more times.entering highway at stop light car approximately going less than 5 mph engine stopped running. Turned key off and turned the car back on.

I was driving at a speed of 50mph around a curve in the road and the engine stalled and the check engine light came on. I tried to put tin neutral and restart it, it did not turn over. I put it in park and after 3 tries it started. I immediately took it to the dealership and they told me it was a crankshaft position sensor. This happened once beforeon a saturday and when i took it in on monday they told me without a check engine light they could not know what was wrong.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 80 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without any warning. The contact was able to pull to the side of the highway and tried restarting the vehicle but to no avail. As the contact was trying to restart the vehicle, she noticed that the vehicle would surge forward. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer and after diagnosis she was informed that the failure could have possibly been caused by the automatic shutdown relay (asd). The asd relay was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. The current mileage was approximately 11,500. The vin was unavailable.

Engine stalled while driving on the highway at 70 mph. Could not start car immediately, was towed and after being towed car started up with no problem. Car was brought to the dealership and a diagnostic test was done with no errors shown.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the transmission failed while driving 70 mph. The vehicle decelerated and caused the limp mode to activate. The contact was able to coast onto the road shoulder. After waiting a few minutes, the contact was able to restart the engine. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to skyland chrysler jeep dodge (255 smokey high park land, ashville nc 28806 phone (828-667-5213)) for diagnostic testing, but a failure code could not be located. The dealer stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 26,000.

I was driving on the i-65 south to alabama, when i started to loose speed i really freaked out, and i pressed the gas pedal a little bit more but i kept loosin speed, i managed to move to the right shoulder and the good thing is that my brother-law was behind my vehicle so he realize that something was wrong with my car and that prevent me to be hit in the rear by another vehicle.i got off the car and i tried to start the car again, and the starter was working fine, then i did remember about the complaints on these carsthat if you have a 1/4 of a tank of fuel the engine would shut down, and i had a 1/4 of a tank one of my brothers went to get the gas, while i was calling chrysler to let them know what happened with this car and the chrysler guy was very helpful and offer me to sent me a tow truck, then i mentioned about the recall on these vehicles, i told him that i would try to put gas and if it worked there was no need to sent a tow truck, beside it was a family vacation and the least thing that i wanted was to spend it in a shop repair. My brother came back and the car starter right away.my family vacation was for 10 day and i was using another car from relatives in alabama, i made the appointment with my local dealership in chicago i told what happened and the said my car wasn't affected by the chrysler's recall campaign n17nhtsa campaign number:13v120000. But thy said they would take a look at the car, i bought it for service and they paid for a car rental but the technician couldn't duplicate the problem, they had it for three days and nothing, instead of replacing a transfer tube in the fuel tank but it's not in its recall list and chrysler would not paid for that repair, so they wouldn't do it. Even though i paid for extra protectionfor 60,000 or 84 months.so i guess they will replace this little tube until people start to die in car accidents.

On my way to work, my car stalled 3 times while at a stop light and once while moving. After the moving stall, my engine light came on. The error code is p0339. It also stalled twice on my way home from work. It didn't stall while i was moving on the second trip because my foot happened to be on the gas when it tried to stall. I felt the car jerk backwards then re-engage the engine back to where it was before it almost stalled. The car had done a little jerk every once in a while, but now it's multiple times in a single trip.

On two occasions the vehicle failed to start, once after stalling while in motion.1)after appropriate operation of the traction control system, the vehicle was turned off and refused to restart. Car was eventually restarted, showing an mil and reported an error p0335 crank shaft position sensor.after reset the car operated for over 100 miles trouble free.2)about one week later, after appropriate operation of the traction control system, the vehicle stalled while doing 35 miles per hour, with the same indication as the first stall.the crankshaft position sensor was replaced after the second incident.previous to these events the vehicle had been trouble free for 3 winters.on 9/16/2014 the dealer had flashed the pcm 68070204ag due to an error code for failure of evaporative purge flow.

The recall i have a engine light and it was not on there prior to the recall i was treated poorly and my jeep patriot is worse now than when i brought it in had a horrible experiencs.and it theemission and i am nervous to drive it now the jeep corp said that i had to talk to the 2 people who treated me badly to where the recall made my car or it was more or i don't know it's coming back emissions and none of that was there. Literally in a lost and confused this is a some thing that was not normal and my vehicle paid the price.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving several times i have had the engine stall out on me and all power is killed from the vehicle. I have taken it to the dealer and they told me that unless the problem is happening when i bring in the vehiclethey don't want to put money and parts into it. I bring it to then while the check engine light is on and still they wont do anything about it.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the fuel pump, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Arrigo dodge chrysler/jeep sawgrass (5901 madison ave, tamarac, fl) and the manufacturer were notified. The failure mileage was 102,000.

Engine stalls while driving. The traction control lights appears when engine stalls. It may restart after about 15 minutes. This reoccurs randomly.after it starts back up the check engine light appears.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The failure occurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to electra auto sales & service (42 putman pike, johnston, ri 02919, 401-232-2090). The contact was informed that the mechanic performed a complete engine tune up, test drove the vehicle, and was able to duplicate the failure; however, the repair did not correct the failure. The engine continued to stall while driving various speeds. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 84,295.

While driving my 2012 jeep patriot sport 4x4 down the autobahn at around 120km(74 mph) my jeep started making a deep whirling/humming sound.while accelerating it is a low deep sounding whirling/humming sound, while decelerating the whirling/humming sound becomes louder deep sounding whirling/humming.i tried calling the jeep dealership here in germany but was basically told they could not be of any help do to my jeep being american spec. Also, i find it absurd that my jeep has recalls and i was never informed and of course i've been told that i cannot get them fixed over here.

The exhaust manifold has multiple cracks on it and some are around actual welds. This caused a permanent catalyst failure. It caused a loss in power and the vehicle would surge at times during acceleration.

While driving, the engine stalls out. This happened once 2 weeks ago and the engine light came on. However, the light was off the following morning. Today, it happened twice, and the engine light is back on. I was driving less than 55mph both times on city streets and not turning. When the engine stalls, all power is lost to the steering and breaking system.

On interstate highway at highway speed on cruise control.instant engine stall.fuel gauge reads 3/8 full.this happened twice in the span of 5 hours. First stall - towed to dealership in bowling green ky.the engine started right up at the dealership.no engine fault codes were available.dealership blamed it on bad gas.second stall - same conditions near memphis tn.aaa added one gallon of fuel, the engine started right up.was able to continue the trip as long as we kept the fuel above 1/2 tank full.both incidents could have been a crash had there been traffic, fortunately we coasted to the shoulder.

My wife was driving on i-80 east at highway speeds.this happened about 2 hours after starting including some hilly areas but all high speed highway driving.the car suddenly lost power and she had to pull off the interstate on the shoulder.after calling several times and waiting about 20 minutes, the car restarted and she was able to drive 6 miles at lower power/low speeds to an exit where she was advised to put oil in the car.after cooling off for 20 minutes more, she was able to start the car and continue her trip (another 100 miles) without incident.

While driving my vehicle on the highway, we experienced a total loss of engine power.the jeep was at speed 75-80mph when the vehicle began to decelerate, power steering was lost, and the engine died completely.fortunately we were in a sparsely populated highway and were able to pull over safely, but it could have been far worse had there been anyone around us.i have no idea what happened exactly, but we were unable to start the engine again and had to have it towed 30 minutes to the nearest dealer.upon this happening, i spoke with the jim click chrysler / jeep dealership in tucson where it was going to, and this is where it all went further downhill.not only did they not really care that this had happened, but hey, it's saturday man, and we're out of here soon, so good luck and sorry about that.we can help you on monday, but can't answer any questions, hope you can find a ride home, oh and just leave your car outside the nissan shop (really!?). Not only was this a highly unsafe failure at speed, on the highway, but the followup was so poor that i am furious about the customer-service level from the folks at the local place.i guess it's a good thing nobody was seriously injured.

Ac actuator blend doors not working properly. This is a common problem with 2012 jeep patriots. Does not work if the car is in motion or if it's stationary.

I-15 outside st. George, utah. Outside temp 110. 4:30 p.m. Driving since 11 a.m. Driven 275 miles on a full tank of mid grade gas with over 1/4 tank left. Engine shut down and would not restart. Tried again several times over the next two hours. Engine would crank but not fire. Towed into stephen wade jeep dealership and left overnight. Vehicle started the next morning. Repair shop could find no problem. Have driven 600 more miles since then with no problem.there was no crash because we were fortunate to get off the road without incident although traffic was very heavy.

I am writing in regard to the investigation pe12-032.i own a 2012 jeep patriot. The vehicle has stalled repeatedly (4 times - 2 times in july 2012, 1 time in november, and 1 time in december) when cruising at a steady highway speed (65 to 75 mph) on a slight down gradient on the interstate. Each time the vehicle had been on the road for two hours or more prior to becoming disabled and required a tow from the highway.each time the vehicle had between 1/8th and 3/8ths of a tank of fuel.when the patriot was unloaded from the flat bed tow truck, it started immediately on each occasion and the chrysler repair shops could not find a code that indicated the vehicle experienced any problem. The dealers said because there were no diagnostic codes, they would not fix anything. Please help me resolve the issue. I will give you any help i can.chrysler's case number is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Was traveling down a city street. After approximately 100 feet past an intersection, the warning chime and check engine came on approximately a few seconds before the vehicle completely stalled. I lost brakes and power steering. Attempting to switch transmission to park and neutral while vehicle was coasting but could not. I have a bad back so i did not utilize the parking/emergency brake. Once vehicle came to a stop i was able to force the transmission to park after a few attempts. Tried restarting vehicle and it would just continuously crank, but would not turn over. Had public assistance to help get it in neutral and push the vehicle off the busy roadway. Called dealership and was advised to have it towed in. Called for tow, was taken to dealer for repair.dealer replaced crank sensor and updated pcm.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the interior lighting illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,624.

While driving on highway with cruse control on doing 70 miles per hour, the engine in my jeep patriot stalled out completely. The electronic parts of the vehicle stayed on, and i still had power steering. I was able to pull off to the side of the road. I could not start the vehicle for roughly 20 minutes. Then is finally started up. I drove it to the dealership where i bought it. The dealership kept it for three days, and said they found nothing wrong with it. They have insisted everything is fine.

The vehicle shuts off while driving. The battery is fine however i lose all power. It is as if there is no fuel even though i have a ful tank. The traction light comes on along with the check engine light. I roll to a stop and let the jeep sit then turn the key and it starts right up. There is no warning or indication when it will ovcur. The check engine light will disappear after driving for a time and so i am told there is no code to be pulled. Im stuck driving a machine that may or may not try to end me. Tons of people have had a similar issue however my vin does not seem to be included in the recall.

Traveling at 65 mph on state highway in wyoming about an hour out of casper when the engine shut down and would not restart. Temperature was in the 80s and sky was partly overcast. There was no cell phone coverage, but a highway patrol officer stopped and assisted. After about an hour the engine did restart and we were able to travel on without further incident. This is the second time in a month that the engine has shut down without any ascertainable reason. This time the traffic was light and we were able to coast off the traveled portion of the highway. The first time was on interstate 25 in utah, the traffic was very heavy and we were lucky that there was not an accident. The prior time the car would not restart until the next day and was towed.

Intake manifoldsystem: the intake manifold is causing the vehicle to stall and turn off while driving.difficultly starting the vehicle and poor gas mileage.

I have a 2012 jeep patriot, i purchased new about a year 9 mouths ago, it have 13000.00 miles, i was driving on the freeway about 60 mph and the engine quit running as if it ran out of gas, i pulled over in very heavy traffic and tried starting after checking fuses and all possibilities. I had the car towed to the dealer and now the fun begins. After 2 hours and dropping the car at the dealer the car started, i left the car at the dealer and they said nothing is wrong with the car. After investigating the web i found this site and we present the information i found here to the dealer, the dealer wants to return to car and at this time i am not willing to except the car with this unsafe condition. Jeep should recall these cars and fix asap before a fatality takes place. The jeep dealer will not do anything at this point. I would like a suggestion because this car is not safe to drive.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact pulled over and the vehicle resumed normal operation once it was restarted. The contact's friend used a code detector that determined that the throttle was defective. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled with the illumination of the esc warning indicator. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and the engine was turned off. The vehicle was in the process of being towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 4,475.

Car defect that caused this is unknown. .

I was on the last stretch of my trip coming into reno nevada on interstate 80 west at the speed of 70 mph, when out of no where my 2012 jeep patriot shut off. It was not over heating no warning lights. I was very fortunate to maneuver my vehicle safely off to the side of the interstate without an accident occurring. A state trooper came up from behind within a few minutes thankfully. He asked me to sit in his vehicle while a tow truck driver was called because my vehicle was not in a safe place from the curve of the mountain and ongoing traffic. My jeep would not start and would stick with the key on the on start position continually turning over without engine starting. It was after hours by the time my vehicle was towed in to a jeep lithia dealership. To make a long story short, i was called to pick up my jeep and that they could not find nothing wrong with it, and that the mechanic started it right up several times.i asked if it was put on the diagnostics machine and the service department employee said yes, that it did not kick out any codes of any problems happening to it. I drove a couple hours more into california with no other problems happening.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving at various speeds, the contact heard a sound from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Immediately after the vehicle was repaired, while driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and the electronic throttle control and fuel cap warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,555.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving 70 mph, the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel and the engine stalled. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted the vehicle after a few minutes. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the dealer was not supposed to replace the transmission fluid. The failure recurred several other times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. The vin was not included.

My son is driving on the freeway at 70mph during the summer and all of a sudden, his car literally decelerates.he goes from 70mph to 20mph immediately.this has happened 3 times this summer, 4 times last summer (i have posted before), and multiple times in 2017 (everytime he comes home from college in the summer!).this last time it happened at the beginning of this month (sept), he was almost rear-ended and then almost sideswiped.the dealerships can't duplicate this problem (he's been to two different dealerships), but jeep knows there is an issue (there are numerous complaints).the car shows no signs of overheating and gives no notice that there is a problem.once he has sat along the side of the freeway for 1/2 to 1 hour, he can start his car and drive again.when is jeep going to recognize there is an issue?we have paid to have transmission fluid changed - didn't help.i see that a dealership elsewhere with someone else who had had the same problem figured it out and said that it was the internal oil pump of the transmission that was malfunctioning and causing the overheats.my car is still under warranty and i need to get this fixed before it isn't in december.please help.jeep isn't doing anything.

Total tipm failure, with engine, brakes, steering, airbags failing all at once, with no warning, in traffic.87 yr. Old with near fatal breakdown.contacted jeep, sent in documentation, told 6 mths. For reimbursement, then refused because vin did not match recall list.part was backordered because of mass failure.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power and stalled while driving. An unknown warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was pushed to the contact's home. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would call the contact back. The failure mileage was 77,000. The vin was unknown.

Around 50000 miles the engine started to stop accelerating during operation. During driving on a highway or city street (at all speeds) the engine would begin to malfunction without warning and the maximum speed that could be met was about 10mph with gas fully engaged. Pullingnover and restarting the vehicle would override this for a short time. It started to occur more frequently to the point i would have to restart my car a approximately 15 times to make a 9 mile trip to work. Happened several times driving on a highway at speeds of up to 65mph and almost caused accidents several times before i could pull off on to the shoulder. Eventually after months of this occurring at random intervals the car shut off while driving resulting in total loss of engine power and steering ability of the vehicle thankfully on a quiet back street where i was able to leave it after pushing it in neutral and have it towed. After several months of being in the shop and thousands of dollars later its running with a new engine. Multiple friends and family members with the same vehicle modelmake and year have this issue all around 50k miles.

The contact ownsa 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an authorized dealer. The failure was not diagnosed because the engine started on the first attempt. The identical failure recurred. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer for a diagnostic test to be performed. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 5,300.updated 8/6/12

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled and failed to restart. There were no prior warnings. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where they were unable to locate a trouble code. The failure recurred on two separate occasions while the contact was traveling at high speeds. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.updated 07/10/13*lj

While driving my engine randomly shuts off and my wheel locks. After it does so the car won't start back up. When it finally does and i get the car into park, the car shuts back off and it repeatedly does so until it won't start at all and i have to wait 15-39 minutes for it to start up and drive normal. This happens more than 5 or 10 mines on a daily basis. It happens on highways, city streets, it even shuts off when i'm not in motion. It doesn't matter what speed i'm going or if i'm increasing or decreasing my speed. It shuts off when ever and where ever.

On 3/21/2017 and on 3/22/2017 the vehicle stalled while in motion at different speeds 4 times. The battery was replaced due to this and the alternator was tested as to having no issue. It happens at various speeds from 25-70 mph and causes me to have to pull over to the side of the road when it stalls out which is very dangerous for anyone operating the vehicle and other vehicle operators that may be around me when this happens. Usually the car will start back up and run for another period of time before it happens again. Chrysler has had multiple complaints filed about this on multiple websites and with this agency however the recalls implemented for this problem have only pertained to certain models none of which were related to my model of the jeep patriot. Again this has happened on city streets and highways and have yet to have a dealer or mechanic be able to diagnose the problem. Thanks

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however they were unable to duplicate the failure. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 6,000. The current mileage was 8,092.

My wife was traveling over thanksgiving on her way home on the interstate 70 mphand the jeep just shuts off, lots of traffic loses all power, so she pulled over and called me, i had her to turn the switch to the off position and back to run a couple of time and it started, she drove the rest of the way home approx. 100 miles with the engine light on.

The car stalls frequently in the middle of the street. Dealer replaced crankshaft position sensor in june 2016 and insisted the problem is unrelated to the recall that already exists which causes stalling. Less than 1 year and approximately 12,000 miles later the car is stalling frequently again - every time the car is put in reverse and approximately 3-4 times more every 20 minutes.

5/21 1st, 5/22 2nd, loss of complete power while driving on highway.while driving a wedding gift of a new 2012 jeep patriot on theirhoneymoon cross country to their new home in ca, the new wedding gift car died at 65 mph on ohio highway.fixed in ohio (newleyweds left from ri), they proceeded journey to ca. In illinois, highway drive again same scenario, car died.

Car isn't getting any fuel. While trying to accelerate it sounded like i was going to flood it out. It would only go 5-10mph. Very bad hesitation and shaking and engine light came on.

My jeep just completely stalled out while i was driving i was stopped at a stop light went to go and my jeep completely lost everything no warning lights or mothing.

I was driving down the highway at 70 mph. Then the jeep just stalled out and i had to pull over to the shoulder. The jeep was then towed to the dealership where it sat over the weekend because the service department was closed. On monday the jeep started for the mechanic and they found no codes when hooked up to a scanner. I picked the car up the next day and a month later the same thing happened again.they say there is nothing they can do because there is no codes when they scan it and there is nothing else that appeared to be wrong at the time of service.

We were driving the 2012 jeep patriot from michigan to new mexico, had just crossed nm state line.we were traveling at 80 mph on a 95 degree day when the engine suddenly quit causing the vehicle to stop almost immediately in the middle of the expressway.we were able to get into the expressway median (barely!) and attempted to restart the vehicle--nothing!we had no warning lights or indications of any problems with the vehicle; it had just over 1800 miles on it.vehicle was towed to a nm dealer who told us he hadanother patriot in the prior week with the exact same problem.dealer did not know the "fix" for our engine failure --even suggested we just drive the car (in the desserts of nm) and if it died again we could just wait until it might restart!we had to leave the car in clovis, nm and rent a car to complete the trip.the 2012 jeep patriot previously written about has had a second engine failure at highway speeds.the clovis, nm chrysler dealer assured us the car was safe to drive after thefirst engine failure; we drove the car less that 250 miles and the engine suddenly died on the expressway again!vehicle was again towed after stranding driver in the middle of nowhere.does someone have to be killed before chrysler will fix this problem?there are several incidents reported at nhsta between may and july of 2012. I can only imagine how many people have had this happen and didn't report it at nhtsa.please let me know what i can do to get this resolved--this car is a death trap!

The engine stalled while driving on interstate i-25 without warning, vehicle would not re-start, had to pull off of interstate and wait for a tow truck.

My jeep has been to the dealer five times for a major sunroof water leak please help .my jeep smells like mildew the radio and ac controls are not working correctly and there is only 28000 miles on my jeep...........

Vehicle frequently hesitates and/or occasionally stalls at both low & high speeds.most often occurs on inclines. Took in for repair more than twice and still occurs. The technician witnessed it but could not produce a vehicle analysis conformation an accident occurred last christmas eve when vehicle stalled after accelerating from an idle at a stop light. The vehicle halted in traffic and was hit from behind. Also, stalled on the up-slope of a high bridge traffic on the gs parkway (nj) at hwy speeds. After numerous failed start attempts it finally restarted a couple of hours later. The car has also decelerated or hesitated on several occasions while driving at different speeds without an incline.also, vehicle makes grinding noice when turning during acceleration; mostly on right.multiple lights (headlights, brake, signal and parking lights) have been a problem.

I called koon jeep sales rep, to inform him of the leak through the dome light, wanted know if i were in an accident! my jeep corporate case #[xxx], i informed my jeep customer care that i want out of the vehicle, he said i didn't meet the requirement, refered me to bbb and attorney state general. The suggested process through attorney state general is to write a certified letter with signature required.i called corporate asking for mailing address, it could not be provided due to the department handling my case was close and to call back mon. 19th dec. 2011i took it in for service, the drain plug was pinched!asked if the hood of car replaced, electrical wiring inspected and electronics, ok?dealer customer care rep,[xxx], said yes, the gps is garbled speech and the vehicle hesitates while pulling off and periodically while drivingat this point i'm searching for legal counsel!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

After filling up vehicle with gas and driving for at least 30 minutes, when parked in the garage the smell of gas fumes would permeate the entire house.we replicated this several times and the fumes were so strong that we would have to leave the house for several hours with the windows open to ventilate.i was concerned about the vapors causing an explosion with the gas water heater in the garage.i took the vehicle thedealership where they insisted nothing was wrong after having checked it twice.i refused to take it back since it was a safety risk to my family to be at the house.chrysler responded thedealership's request for assistance with this issue by replacing the fuel tank and vapor canister.there was no puddle or apparent leak under the vehicle at any time.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the fuel tank valve would close while the vehicle was being refueled. Beaver county dodge chrysler jeep ram (2761 constitution blvd, beaver falls, pa 15010) was made aware of the failure and diagnosed that the fuel tank rollover valve was defective and needed a fuel tank replacement. The vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that there was a recall related to the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 12v142000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that recalls were vin specific and the vin was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the throttle control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact related the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that upon placing the fuel pump nozzle into the fuel filler neck, the fuel pump shut-off as pressure was built up inside the gas tank due to poor ventilation. Due to the failure, the contact had to slowly pump gasoline into the vehicle as the fuel pump would frequently stop due to the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified and referred him to the local dealer for assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who linked the failure to the recall however, he was informed that the vehicle would have to be repaired by a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The engine stalled while driving on interstate i-25 without warning, vehicle would not re-start, had to pull off of interstate and wait for a tow truck.

2012 jeep patriot.consumer writes in regards to fuel tank transfer recall notice.the consumer stated the recall issue, has not been remedied, and it has been six months. The consumer stated when he went to the dealer, the vehicle sat all day and the following day, when he went to the dealer, they were no where near servicing the vehicle. Updated 08/15/13

I received a recall notice several months ago (i do not have the exact date as the notices are not dated nor postmarked) regarding the fuel tank transfer tube. I called the dealer as soon as i received the notice, and was told that chrysler/jeep had not released a part number yet.when i called several weeks later, i was told that the dealer now has a part number and is ordering the part.today, when i called again, i was told that jeep is only sending one part every 2 weeks and that the dealer is working off of a waiting list and i may not be called for another month.this is totally unacceptable.if the vehicle malfunctions in the way that it is described in the recall notice, my car could stop in the middle of a highway which puts me at risk of being hit by other vehicles and killed.i hope that something can be done to expedite these parts getting to all of the owners of these jeeps.

2012 jeep patriot. Consumer writes in regards to issue with gas tank. *ldthe consumer stated it would take 20-30mins putting gas into the tank. The gas would spill out of the tank.

Driving from las vegas to phoenix, filled up right before getting on the road.went approximately 210 miles and ran out of gas with the fuel gauge showing 1/4 full.i was on a two lane road going approximately 65-70mph with the cruise control on and it just stopped.luckily i was able to get off to the side of the road because there were many cars going the same speed behind me and was able to coast to the top of the hill.luckily no one ran into me coming over that hill, unluckily i was 25 miles from the closest town with no cell reception and temperatures in the high 90's with my 6 year old in the car with me.vehicle has been to a dealer four times for this issue, they don't know what is wrong.they have replaced many parts hoping that they found the problem.also informed another vehicle in ca with same issue.

'tamara recall' while driving engine will just die losing power steering, once stopped it may or may not restart causing traffic jam

I had a 1/4 tank of gas and went to the gas station to fill up. While pumping, the gas pump kept shutting off. I thought something was wrong with the gas pump so i went to another pump and the same thing continued to happened (i only got a few gallons). Later that day, i went to the gas station again and the same thing was happening, the pump shutting off. I was able to finally fill the tank after repeated shut offs, pumping and shuts off again. In 2014, i had the repair done (recall for the fuel tank transfer tube) however this is the first time i am experiencing this problem with my gas tank. I did some researching and it seems to be the gas tank vent system is not venting quick enough causingthe gas is backing up. I will be calling my dealership to see what they can do about this. My real question is was the recall repair "faulty"?

When i was at the gas station, fuel pump kept shutting off. I took to the dealership. The problem is the rollover vent valve on top of the fuel tank does not open to release air. They told me i had to replace the whole tank and their estimation is more than $1800 before the tax. I see the same problem people filed here. The repair should be on the manufacturer side instead of customers.

When i attempt to refill gas in my jeep, the tank prevents the gas from flowing into the vehicle.i can refill the tank, but because of the issue, it takes a very long time to refill the gas with the pump repeatedly shutting off.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that he attempted to have the vehicle repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline ). The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot with 54,000 miles. The stated that he had a recall done on his vehicle forthe fuel system. A year later after the recall repair was done the contact noticed that the safety flap on the filler pipe was missing. The contact called the dealer and the manufacturer and they were unable to offer any assistance.

Car gradually stopped taking gas. It would click off and not allow additional gas to be put in. Initially this was at half a tank, then a quarter, then before i could even get the gas light off. The car was evaluated by three different mechanics, all who confirmed it was a gas tank issue identical to recall m11. This issue also effects the safety function which keeps the tank from catching on fire in the event of a rollover accident. We contacted jeep multiple times, but were told that this recall includes cars manufactured as late as january 2012 but does not include my car which was manufactured in february 2012. Jeep refused to look into the issue further because the car was not included in the recall.

When trying to fill the tank with gas the pump keeps shutting off every 5-10 seconds and sometimes gas comes back oout the fill tube.my mechanic says we have a bad rollover valve and the whole gas tank needs to be replaced to fix it.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to fill up completely with fuel. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed and a valve in the tank was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.

Issue is i cannot fuel tank due to fuel tank valve stuck. I just had the esim replaced because that was what the dealer said was the issue. Problem wasn't resolved and now i have to replace fuel tank. I saw where there were other vehicles experiencing this same issue and were recalled.

I was going down the freeway at 68 with cruise control on and when i tapped the brakes to kick the cruise off it slowly died and wouldn't restart,so had it towed and when it came off the truck it restarted(about an hour and a half later). My dealer contacted chrysler and they said to change the fuel pumps(2) and fuel lines between tanks, this has been done but i haven't driven it much since. I heard on the radio that this or similar things had been occurring with this model so i wanted to put my 2 cents in and maybe here if there was a different fix for this problem>.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that he was driving approximately 68 mph with the cruise control engaged. The contact was approaching an off ramp and tapped the brakes to disengage the cruise control however, immediately after depressing the brakes the vehicle stalled. The contact tried restarting the vehicle but it would not respond. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer. After diagnosis, the technicians advised him that the fuel pump and the fuel lines between the fuel tanks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for two fuel pumps and the lines in between. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. The current mileage was approximately 3,500. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While refueling the vehicle, the fuel sensor indicated that the fuel level was full; however, when the fuel nozzle was pulled back, the vehicle was able to receive additional fuel. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dick's country chrysler jeep dodge (767 sw baseline st, hillsboro, or 97123), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact was informed that the fuel tank could be replaced. The vehicle was currently at the dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

Jeep stalls out on road. Could only go 20 mph after restarting

The gas tank can not be filled at the gas pump without reducing the flow to the minimum level.as a result it take 20 minutes to put 10 gallons in the gas tank.this is dangerous late at night or in bad weather.this issue started in october and is getting worse.

2012 jeep patriot 4wdthe catalytic converter recall includes 2012 jeep patriot front wheel drive vehicles; however, my four wheel drive vehicle is experiencing this same issue. My jeep should be covered under the recall. This is a safety concern that needs to be addressed. I did not even know this was a recall until it was too late. This malfunction caused my check engine light to come on while in motion on a city road, and it should be fixed by dodge/chrysler/jeep immediately.*pm

2012 jeep patriot 4 x 4 takes 20 minutes to fill gas tank due to faulty valve. Had the dealership run diagnostic tests today and they tell me a new gas tank is the only fix due to a problem with a valve inside the tank....they called it a "flapper" and an "inlet check valve". Talked to jeep and to two dealerships and no one wants to take any responsibility for this issue. I also found the following technical service bulletin which extends the gas system warranty on a number of makes/models for this very same issue, but the jeep patriot is not included - tsb 14-001-09 rev.a this is extremely frustrating and dangerous.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While operating the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present inside the cabin. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 106,200.

Evap system leak

I try to fuel my 2012 jeep patriot (55000) miles, but the fuel pump continues to shut off.it takes me at least 10 minutes to pump 8 gallons of fuel into my tank.this has been going on for over a month now.

When i would accelerate, the car would not go. The ets light would flash on and even though you press the gas pedal it would not go. It would be working fine one minute - then all of a sudden stop moving. It did this is heavy city traffic when i pulled out which terrified me to the point i thought i was going to get hit. It also happened on the interstate in traffic going 70 mph. Was nearly rear ended when it all of a sudden decided to stop accelerating.i never had issues before so i thought it may be bad fuel. I did a fuel treatment and the same issue occured. Jeep dearlership charged me a fortune to fix what they said was a bad electronic throttle system that was not covered by recall in this model.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that she received notification of nhtsa campaign number 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline) over a month ago and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was not contacted about the about the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Valve in filler neck will not allow fuel to enter tank.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that he attempted to have the vehicle repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline ) but was informed that the parts were not available. The contact felt that since the failure was reported in april of 2013, there should have been a remedy available before january of 2014. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable time for repair.the contact had not experienced a failure.

My car recently developed issues with a faulty fuel tank valve. This makes it difficult to pump gasoline. There was a recall in 2012 jeep patriots for this issue (m11). However, my car was not included in the recall.

When pumping gas at any gas station, my fuel tank shuts off the flow of gas approximately every 5 seconds.there seems to be a defect with the gas tank.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While the vehicle was being refueled at a fuel station, the fuel pump clicked off before enough fuel entered the vehicle. The failure recurred at different fuel stations. One attendant attempted to fill up the tank manually, but was unsuccessful. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not provided.

I had my check engine light come on. I went to auto zone and had them run a quick dx check to see why the engine light came on. The code that came up reported an issue with my gas cap or fuel sensor.i am not able to pump gas into my vehicle without the pump shutting off continuously; when pumping my gas i have to hold the pumps lever and it will still lose pressure and shut off. I have to pump very slowly in order to fill up my vehicle. When going down the highway i can feel a surge in my acceleration and i have noticed issues in being able to pick up speed.i also started to have an issue with a loud clicking when turning on my heat or ac. I started looking in the problems more on jeepscares forums. I saw various reports on both issues, on one of the posts they encouraged anyone having issues with the fuel sensor to report the problem to nhtsa.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that after receiving a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline), the contact was informed by the dealer that they would not have the part to remedy the recall for seven weeks. The contact stated that seven weeks was to long to wait to repair a manufacturer's defect. The contact had not experienced a failure.

When i try to put gasoline in my car, the pump keeps shutting off. This is very frustrating. I have tried different gasoline stations. Had this problem before, but now it is worse every time i try to put fuel in the tank. I contacted the dealer, they told me no recall for for my jeep.

As several other 2012 jeep patriot 4x4 owners have noted, it takes me forever to fill my tank - pump keeps clicking off. This started at about 70,00 miles - i now have 80,00 miles on it. Of course my vehicle, which i purchased new, was not part of the recall to replace the faulty fuel tank transfer tube. Even if i pay out of pocket to have this repaired i know this is not the real problem as others have noted - it is a problem with the gas tank vent system which would necessitate the replacement of the whole gas tank. C'mon chrysler, please admit this is a problem and do the right thing. If not, i will not be purchasing any future chrysler vehicles.

Purchased from a used car dealership/01/2018 and the first time i went to put gas in the tank it kept cutting off rapidly not allowing me to fill it quickly.i took it to the local jeep dealer for help and they diagnosed it needed a new fuel tank.at the cost of 1300.00+ dollars. The fuel neck had previously been replaced but this was not the problem. Now i am stuck withthis as i can not afford to fix it.

My car is not showing up on the recall database.so the authorized dealer will not do the repair w/ out cost.my vin needs to be added. Over 20,000 model year 2012 jeep patriot and compass vehicles are recalled because of fuel system problems. Chrysler says the transfer tube might not work correctly because the tube was incorrectly manufactured.your engine could stall because the fuel from the secondary side wouldn't make it to the primary side of the tank.the affected vehicles were manufactured october 18, 2011, through may 7, 2012.( my car was build 2/3/2012)and is a 4x4refer to recall number n17.i had this issue numerous times.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to firestone of lubbock, texas where it was determined that the fuel transfer tube did not bring fuel into the main fuel tank, which caused the vehicle to run out of fuel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 45,000.

A notification came on saying gas cap, a week later check engine light came on. I went for the diagnostic it read trouble code p0456. Which is an evap system leak detected.there isn't a possible cause for this. Reported fixes are replaced evaporative system integrity monitor (esim) assembly or replace the fuel filler cap. I took the car to the dealer and they wouldn't do anything because i was over 36,000 miles ( i was under the three year mark). I've replaced the gas cap, but i still have the same problem, which is a noticeable decrease in gas mileage and acceleration. I have an extended warranty but it doesn't cover anything related to emissions. ...updated 09/28/15 updated 11/08/2017

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. When depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not accelerate and the fuel injection sensor light illuminated. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manfucturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated there were two recalls associated with nhtsa campaign id numbers 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline) and 13v233000 (air bags , electrical system , seat belts) but was informed that the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was notified and they could not provide an expected date for the remedy parts. The contact had not experienced failure.

Thanks

I recently learned of the recalls for my vehicle after i had bought it. I am having a similar issue as described for the recalled fuel system issues. I don't know if it was ever fixed in my vehicle or even if the vehicle was checked for it.

Gas pump keeps clicking off when fueling.mechanic tested evap system and stated vehicle needs a new fuel tank.the jeep has 62,000 miles on it and has been well maintained.this is an unusual repair and is extremely high in cost.i believe this should be included and covered with the other fuel tank recalls on jeep patriots.

Driving south on i57 in illinois and vehicle stalled. This happened previously at 6000 miles in march while i was on i55, and the dealer told me that the secondary fuel pump was bad.it was replaced and now i am at 26,000 miles and it has stalled again. Each incident the vehicle has stalled with approximately 3/8 of a tank of gas.it causes me to have to maneuver through traffic to pull to the side while the vehicle is rapidly slowing and vehicles behind me don't know how to react.luckily, neither incident has resulted in an accident but clearly the fuel pump needs to be redesigned, recalled and replaced.

I have been trying almost 2 months to get my vehicle recall service.problem the dealership does not have the part in to correct the problem.everytime i am told to call back next this is terrible servicethe recall is for emission recall- catalytic converter efficiencyi scheduled an appointment for recall service last week for 5/17/19. When i arrivedthe dealership didnt have me on the appointment book & all the parts were not in.my vehicle isnt driving smooth. This problem should have been repaired immediately

The vehicle is stationary and motor turned off. It is next to impossible to fill the fuel tank with gasoline. It must be done extremely slowly or gasoline comes bursting out everywhere. The local dealer attributes it to a check valve which is inside the gas tank and when broken will not allow air into the tank when filling with gas. This is a design flaw with chrysler vehicles, and quite dangerous. It is also common for vehicles with this problem to stall when in motion, another very dangerous situation.

It was confirmed by the dealership my 2012 jeep patriot been diagnosed with an internal fuel tank failure. My manufacturer date was nov. 2011 and a recall was issued in dec. 2011 to replace the fuel tank (of course my vehicle didn't qualify). I do not have $1600 to replace something that chrysler should take responsibility for and fix. I have a feeling that they knew that these gas tanks were faulty before dec. 2011, and in order to not have to replace them, they took the easy and barely any money out of their pocket route and did a recall for the transfer hose hoping that would correct the issue which if that's what they thought, sorry it didn't work. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle, let alone trying to put gas in it with the gas pump shutting off every few cents. The only way i can put gas in is by a very slow trickle which takes about 10 - 15 minutes. Within the last few weeks, it's getting even more difficult as i hear the gas backing up in the filler neck. The dealership was not any help other than telling me how much it was going to cost without any explanation as to why it happened. We need help in getting chrysler to address this issue before someone gets killed. Someone please hear us and help us and do something now!!!

When fueling, gas pump shuts off after ~1pint, must wait to drain down, another pint click off, drain down, another pint, wait to drain down- takes about 15 minutes to fill tank.engine stutters on acceleration, rpm's drop 500-1000, probably fuel delivery related. All coils, plugs, filters replaced, injectors cleaned.

Catalytic converter recallit appears that my 2012 jeep patriot was not included in the recent catalytic converter recall of 2011-2016 jeep patriots. Yet, my vehicle would not pass pa state inspection in december of 2018 due to the catalytic converter and failed emissions tests. After paying $1200 to get my catalytic converter repaired in december, fca is now issuing a recall in march on all 2011-2016 jeep patriots? except mine? why? futhermore, fca canada was aware of the problem and issued a recall on the same vehicles back in 2018. Why was fca america so slow to issue a recall? i want to be reimbursed for the money (i'm not a large corporation with billions of dollars) i put out for repairs to a vehicle that should have been recalled sooner and were caused by fca's attempts to save money and circumvent the epa's emissions and safety standards. Thereby jeopardizing the health and safety of hard working honest americans.

After filling up with gas, my car starts to "buck" and has bad acceleration even while driving 70 down the freeway. It continues this problem until i have only 1/4 tank of gas and even goes beyond that. I'm starting to have problems with the car starting also and it smells badly of gas fumes.

Takata recall my catcaylic converter went bad its not working due to failure and vehicle will stall and not go backward are forward. I here its a a recall for this.

My 2012 jeep patriot while driving on the highway started to decelerate from 65 mph to 30 mph very quickly. I had to cross three lanes of traffic to pull off the highway. The temperature light for the transmission came on but went out after a few minutes of having the car idle. This was the only warning light on. This happened twice more after driving for more than an hour. I brought the car to the dealer along with a picture of the warning light and was told they were unable to say what the problem was because there was no code stored on the computer. I then took it to a local mechanic who also said there was no code to work from but had experience in dealing with what i described and said it was the transmission and that this was a common problem with the cvt transmissions that jeep had used. He said this was pretty common knowledge among mechanics and they are waiting to se if jeep will do a recall or fix the problem. As of now a new transmission is $4500.00 plus cost of a rental car for more than a week since the dealership can't seem to have them delivered in less than 7 business days. Not only is this basically fraud for knowingly selling defective products but a safety hazard to all drivers on our highways with the sudden deceleration of the vehicle taking chances with all of our lives when it could be prevented.

I have a 2012 jeep patriot and this keeps happening more and more frequently. Just today it happened twice within 15 minutes so i pull over, put it in neutral and wait for it turn off to do the same thing 15 minutes later. Luckily i am able to get to an exit and not having to pull over on the highway but this is getting ridiculous. The transmission coolant light will stay on and then the car lose the power. Glad i am not the only one having the problem

While driving 75mph for 25miles the transmission overheat light came on and the patriot started slowing itself down, on the interstate in heavy traffic, i read in the manual to pull over put in neutral till it cools off or just drive slow, i have had this happen 10 times since reaching 38,000 i contacted chrysler and they advised i have a diagnostic done at dealer, i did and the dealer said it showed nothing. The dealer said there isn't anything i can do because it is doing what it is designed to do. They also added that they have had several similar cvt complaints from patriot owners. Driving 75 mph should not overheat a transmission.it is very dangerous to be driving on the interstate when the patriot slows itself down, i have almost got run over several times..i need chrysler to acknowledge this problem and find a solution before i have an accident from it.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 70 mph, a loud whining noise sounded and the accelerator pedal was depressed. There was a significant reduction in the transmission power and the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred multiple times during warm temperatures of 80 degrees or higher. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on six separate occasions for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

I replace a transmission through the jeep dealership now i am having problem again with the tranny it stalls . I have to cut it off to restart it for it to have power to pull off.

I was driving and the car shifted itself into 1st gear as i was making a left turn. I couldn't get the car to go through the intersection fast enough. I was almost hit. The car has continued to go into this limp mode ( 1st gear ) by itself. I can't get it to accelerate.also, i pulled over and i could smell rubber burning. It is at the dealership right now. I looked online and it seems other people with the 2012 are having the same problems with their transmission. It happens when i'm driving on both city streets and the highway.

While driving down i-70 at 77 mph the temperature light come on, coasted to the shoulder as i couldn't accelerate. Once pulled over i turned off my jeep and waited about 10 minutes, started it back up, no light, performed as it should. On the way back from my trip the issue happened again, this time i took it to the dealership. They performed a download and said 'no faults are stored in the system'. I get all the required maintenance done.

Cvt transmission overheats and acceleration computer needs adjusted because its sporatic. It overheats on highway and accelerates funny in town.

This vehicle is a manuel transmission 2012 jeep patriot 4x4 purchased in february 2017 from carmax with a little less than 37,000 miles on it. In late december 2017 / early january 2018 i began to hear/feel a 'whirring' sound when the transmission was engaged, the sound ceased when the clutch was depressed. I took in for repair with the clutch being replaced. The issue was not corrected, the clutch not being the issue. With a new clutch the problem was then determined as a internal transmission problem. A diagnostic was performed by local dealer fred frederick chrysler. The conclusion was a failure/issue occurring in the front transmission bearing area. I have driven this jeep less than 18,000 miles; it has less than 55,000 miles on it! transmissions should not be failing at this point. This is a known issue with 2012 jeep patriot's. As of january 2018 there are 196 complaints with more than half, 104, dealing with engine or power train problems, on just the nhtsa website alone. Failures have occurred with as little as 20,000, 26,000, or 30,000 miles. Many also occurring in the mileage area of my vehicle (54,500) with failures at 47,000, 50,000. There have been no recalls or investigations into this problem. I filed a complaint with jeep / chrysler. I was told by my case manager, 'there is nothing we can do (or will do) to help you'. He went on to say; 'it's a business decision (by jeep / chrysler)' this issue needs to be addressed by jeep / chrysler, corrected, and jeep owners compensated.

The transmission temperature gauge has come on when traveling at normal highway speeds, causing an immediate loss of power and requiring me to pull over and let the engine cool down.2 jeep dealerships have assessed the vehicle in the days after the incidents, neither of which could offer any remedy.both dealerships' service managers mentioned that these vehicles' transmissions are often problematic and do not handle high temperatures well, but with no active recall, neither could offer any recourse or even a remedy.this is clearly a case of a poorly engineered product (the jatco cvt) that the manufacturer is avoiding dealing with, at the expense and safety of its consumers.in fact, jeep no longer uses this transmission - they replaced it in 2014 - clearly they knew there was a problem.this issue is a blatant safety hazard and needs to be investigated more thoroughly and the manufacturer held to account for the unsafe conditions they know their consumers are in.unacceptable!!!

The vehicle was in motion, rear driver side tire would not roll correctly and was making a noise under the hood. It was towed to a repair shop and after running diagnostic testing found that the cvt transmission, drive shaft joint and transmission cooler had to be replaced. Per the repair shop "the transmission had catastrophic failure" at 96,986k miles and without any advanced warningi had no choice but to agree to have a rebuilt transmission, drive shaft and cooler be installed because mine could not be repaired. The only thing they could salvage was the transfer case which was thought to have been the issue but the diagnostic testing found that was ok. Three weeks it is finally fixed and appears to be working fine.

Transmission overheated going 60 miles per hour on the interstate. I pulled over and let the light go off per the user manual and didn't drive it anymore. Put it in the shop on monday and it needs a brand new transmission with only 119k miles on it!

I was stopped at a stoplight turning right the light turned greeni went to go and my jeep patriot started hesitating in the middleof the intersection and it took a few minutes toget up to speed i have had the problem multiple times but the dealership couldn't recreate the problem so they couldn't tell mea salutation brought it in 3 times now when i go to speed up to flow of traffic coming off the on ramp my transmission makes a howling noise and it is slow to get up to speed

My jeep is by far one of the biggest safety hazards if not for me but for everyone else on the road. The transmission overheat light comes on constantly. If i go over 60 on a day that is over 70 degrees for longer than 10 minutes the transmission will over heat. It isn't just an annoyance it is a safety issue that jeep has known about. A recall needs to be iniciated.the

When accelerating on the highway the transmission seems to "lock" up, preventing the gears from shifting and causing the engine to over-rev. Since the gears don't shift, the vehicle is unable to accelerate. This is the second jeep patriot i have owned and the second one that has had this problem. The issue in the first would cause the transmission to over heat and eventually the vehicle would slow to a crawl. This happened several times while highway driving, with an infant. We were forced to pull over on the side of a busy highway to wait for it to cool down. This happened only 2 months after purchasing the 2013 jeep patriot and the dealer agreed to trade the vehicle back and i was stuck with the same make and model which now is exhibiting similar problems. I am concerned that they may reach a similar point and i now need my vehicle for highway travel on a regular basis.i obtained the 2012 jeep patriot in august of 2016 and did not notice any issues until february 2018 and now it happens on a daily basis on my commute to and from work.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving 70 mph, the rpms increased on their own and the vehicle began to stall without warning. The contact had to pull over. Once the vehicle was restarted, it resumed normal operation. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and a code related to the transmission appeared. The contact took the vehicle to be serviced by several independent mechanics; however, the failure continued. After the recent failure, the mechanic stated that only jeep could repair the failure because it was a programming issue. The contact called station chrysler jeep of mansfield (91 chauncy st, mansfield, ma 02048, 508-339-3400) and was informed to bring the vehicle in to be assessed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Thanks

Car is unable to transfer to higher gears. Error code p0730 and p0777. 84k miles. Two shops stating new transmission needed.

Vehicle loses acceleration. This tends to happen more when on a hill or small incline but does happen repeatedly when just accelerating on flat surfaces as well. This feels like a stutter or loss of acceleration. I have had the throttle body replaced, spark plugs & coils & tcm but the issue is still there. This is a cvt transmission.

Car isn't getting any fuel. While trying to accelerate it sounded like i was going to flood it out. It would only go 5-10mph. Very bad hesitation and shaking and engine light came on.

We own a 2012 jeep compass (vin [xxx]) and a 2012 jeep patriot (vin [xxx]).. Both transmission filler tubes have broken off in the exact same places both between 50,000/60,000 miles ..noticed them hanging underneath the front spoiler ...the compass is showing signs of transmission trouble.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Several incidents occurred where when driving i would be in drive mode, but while on the freeway going 60 mph, out of no where, my transmission would switch into limp mode going 0 mph or 5-10 mph. I was almost hit by semi truck. Another incident occurred when i was driving, and stopped by the red light, soon as i put the foot on the gas, it went on limp mode again and my car completely stopped at the intersection driving in city, the light turned red, and someone from the intersecting direction had to swerve behind my car to avoid me. The symptoms seen was the all the gears "p, r, n, d" would be selected, the anti-roll over light, engine light and transmission heating light would be on. The rpms would rev, butmost often the mph still would be '0'. At the shop after running diagnostics, they found occasions where they found "tcm lost communication with computer" several times.

Takata recall my catcaylic converter went bad its not working due to failure and vehicle will stall and not go backward are forward. I here its a a recall for this.

While on the mountainous interstate we lost our acceleration and didn't know why.we were in a dangerous location just beginning to cross a bridge and we pulled off the road as far as we could.we did know that stopping on the bridge was a very dangerous location.at this point i was shaking and very scared.after a few minutes,i put the vehicle in 1st gear, and we actually moved.at this point i was just trying to get us past the bridge to a safer location.but as i went from 1 gear to another, we were slowly gaining momentum, so i kept going. Then june 9, 2014 we lost acceleration while traveling on the interstate again going through mountainous roads in nm.we were able to move slowly till we got to an off ramp and pulled into a gas station.i figured my fluid levels were good due to just having a $300 service performed with oil, etc. 2 weeks prior just before leaving on vacation. I then pulled out the owners manual to see just what that light was for.it was the transmission fluid overheating due to the mountainous terrain we were in.i had never heard of that before, so i called the dealership service area at jeep in w. Bell rd in peoria, az.the gentleman i talked to had no good answers for me.then he mentioned that the certain type of transmission that was in the jeep patriot can overheat.we just needed to follow the instructions in the manual and sit in neutral till the temperature dropped.the vehicle loses acceleration as a protection for the transmission so it doesn't overheat and cause damage.well, then... What about to the occupants that are in the vehicle being suddenly stranded in very unsafe locations.

2012 patriot has 48k miles on it. Been driving a std shift for most of my 46 years. The throw out bearing is very noisy. This has developed over a few months. I contacted the local dealer service moritz and they didn't know if it was covered under the 100k drive train warranty so i contacted jeep. They didn't know either and had to look it up. It is not covered. There is no way, under normal driving conditions, that a throw out bearing should go bad with such low milage. Jeep won't cover the repair. If one looks on the internet this is a very common problem with the patriot and not just with the 2012 model year. This should be a recall item. Jeep is hiding behind the 12k clutch warranty to make customers pay for a defect in craftsmanship. I've owned german and japanese cars that had over 130k miles that needed neither a clutch or a throw out bearing. The patriot shifts fine, the clutch does not slip. The only issue so far is the very noisy throw out bearing'.clearly a manufacturing defect as it's so common.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph uphill, the vehicle lost power and independently decelerated to 35 mph. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but to no avail.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The transmission just made noise and whined a lot. Unable to go past 60 miles per hour. Checked fluid was fine. Car had 129,345 miles on it. I have changed transmission fluid and both filters twice. We have owned this 15 months

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph and attempting to decelerate, the engine rpms remained over 4,000. The contact then smelled a burning clutch odor. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot limited. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle's engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed where the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 30,000.*dt transfer from secondary side to the primary side of fuel tank causes engine to stall. Consumer stated vin was not included in the recall.

The cvt transmission for this vehicle was not designed to drive such a heavy car.as a result the transmission began slipping at 35,000 miles. This is a major safety issue in that pulling into or crossing traffic is dangerous when power can't be transferred predictably to the wheels.i'm not sure of the amount of complaints about this issue, however, doing cursory search will find many instances of these transmissions slipping, overheating and failing well within the service life of the oil (100,000 miles).there are probably many other chrysler products that have this small car transmission placed in an suv and not suitable for weight and vehicle load.although no accident has happen as a result there have been many close calls, and i'm sure that there are others that have experienced the same.thanks for your consideration of this issue

Car makes a whining noise once it's been driving for a little bit. It is in sync when you accelerate (whines up when pushing gas, whines down when you let go). It hesitates to accelerate which is extremely dangerous on the freeway. On multiple occasions i've been driving down the road and the transmission light comes on, the whining noise continues and the car will just slow down and eventually stop. I've had to cross multiple lanes on the freeway to try and get over to the shoulder so i didn't break down and get hit right away.when starting the car starts extremely rough and is very shaky. Dealerships have told me the only way to fix it is to replace the transmission which will cost over $4,000.there are plenty of websites that people are complaining of the exact same issue. It is a common issue across the board with patriots. These need to be recalled, people are spending thousands getting their transmissions replaced because they are breaking down on the highway and causing accidents and injuries.

Interstate 44 st. Roberts missouri speed limit 70 miles an hour amber transmission warning light indicates overheating karzan reduce the speed to 40 miles an hour on the interstate. Jeep is aware of this due to a defect and the design of the cvt transmission. Will not be repair tell recall ordered by government

While traveling at 75 mph on level surface the tachometer briefly spiked and the vehicle lost power.there were no warning lights, the vehicle's electric accessories remained on, but there was no throttle response.the ambient temperature was in the upper 90s, the fuel tank was above 1/4 full and the driver was 2.5 hours into a 3.25 hour trip.the vehicle coasted to the side of the highway and failed to restart.the vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership.the dealership technician was able to start the vehicle and reported no diagnostic errors or codes.the driver collected the vehicle, filled the fuel tank and began the 3.25 hour return trip.while traveling at 75 mph, approx 2.75 hours into the return trip the vehicle lost power again.after sitting at the edge of the highway for almost 20 min, the driver heard a relay click from the rear of the vehicle and attempted to start the car.the vehicle started and ran normally for an additional 10 minutes before stalling again with the same symptoms as the previous two instances: a brief spike from the tach then no throttle response.the driver again was able to restart after a 15-20 rest and continued off the highway and onto side streets with no further occurrences.the issue recurred on a subsequent long trip approx one month later with the same symptoms.upon getting the vehicle back into the city it was again taken to a different dealer who discovered no diagnostic codes or errors.

The transmission in my 2012 jeep patriot is not functioning properly. It does not accelerate as it should. It stalls when i attempt to accelerate. It does this on city streets and highways. It overheats on hills and can't take it out of town because it's not reliable. This doesn't make sense since the car only has 74,000 miles.

I have an issue with jeep patriot with 62000 miles on it the is a whinning sound undermy jeep while in motion/running and it starts at 35 mph in the even in a highway and in a street. As common a concerned with this type of compact suv is transmission problem. Please conduct an investigation to address this issue. Thank you

Transmission starts making whinning noise, transmission starts to slip, then the transmission overheats while driving down the interstate at 75 mph, it has also happened in town. The dealership can see that the fault is displayed, yet they cannot seem to find anything wrong.

The transmission overheat light illuminates on hot muggy days and the vehicle goes in limp mode.the dealer has changed radiator, water pump, thermostat, transmission fluid, catalytic converter, oxygen sensors and gas cap.as the check engine light has also illuminated.no codes are in system for the transmission lightso the dealer says they cannot find issue.called chrysler customer service and they were worthless indicating if the dealer cannot find the issue they cannot do anything.this issue has been reported many times to chrysler on other vehicles with no response from chrysler. Vehicle is unsafe to drive with this condition.it has 106k. On odometer

I was driving down the street stopped and proceeded to go up the hill when i pressed on the gas pedal it would not accelerate so i put it in neutral it would rev up but when i put it drive it would not accelerate.so i have taken it to the mechanic to have it evaluated and he said the transmissionneeds to be replaced it is only 7 years old i think that is crazy.from online forums there have been quite a few patriots that have needed new transmissions with no avail from the manufacturers.i am hoping for a recall on this transmission since i am still paying on this vehicle and cannot afford to buy another and pay out $4200 for a new transmission.

The cvt transmission of this vehicle (2012 jeep patriot) is prone to overheating. This occurs when traveling for a few hours at high speeds. I have found this to occur twice when traveling around 70 miles per hour over a period of 2-3 hours. The car's overheat light comes on, followed by a steady decrease in speed and inability to accelerate, presumably to protect the transmission from further damage. It appears that this is a common problem for this vehicle, as cited by numerous customers on forums.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at high outdoor temperatures, the transmission overheated warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to exceed 30 mph. Additionally, there was an abnormal whining sound coming from the transmission. A & b motors inc (30007 gratiot ave, roseville, mi 48066, (586)445-1600) recommended a transmission flush and that the transmission should be replaced. The contact was provided an estimate of $5,000 for the transmission replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

This jeep patriot has been having issues with acceleration, first and foremost. When driving at constant speeds with cruise control set, vehicle will stutter and miss gears. Dealership has not found any solution to figure out the issue because there is not light on the dash. Second, the jeep has had a creaking/clunking sound coming from the rear. The dealer started with replacing the rear struts and sway bar bushing. This did not fix the issue and the sound kept getting worse. Two different dealers have diagnosed several different issues that they "think" are causing the problems with the suspension and causing the sound. There is no definite diagnosis but the dealers are more than willing to use my money for a trial and error replacement of each part until they get to the bottom of the sound. I am not a test rat for their dealership and if they cannot diagnose the car then they need to replace it.

Repeated problems with the cvt transmission overheating during normal driving, loss of power and suddenly unable to accelerate after stopping at intersection. This is an ongoing problem with the jeep cvt's, and is a safety concern regarding the sudden nature of the problem occuring while driving normally.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration and the transmission warning indicator flashed. The contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder and turned it off for approximately 15 minutes. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. The vin was not provided.

Due to the recall on the air bag module the fuse blew out causing the wiring harness to catch fire burning up the whole harness and if replaced the problem will still persist due to no part for the air bag module was driving down the road and have to pull over and call the fire department

This problem was reported in the first month of vehicle purchase through a survey, there was no response from the manufacturer.the driver and passenger seat belts do not work consistently, sometimes it locks, most of the time it doesn't. I had some incidents when i needed to make a sudden stop and the seat belts did not lock.my passenger complained about it too.i have a concern that, if an accident occurs, the seat belts will not respond.

I was informed of this recall via us mail nearly a year ago in september of 2016.as of today, july 30, 2017, the nhtsa website still lists this recall as "no repair or resolution available."this is unacceptable.chrysler / jeep must offer a repair to this critical safety recall issue asap.

Drivers shoulder belt will not lock on sudden pull. No driver safety. Aaa did a service check on my car today and found the drivers seat belt failure. All other seat belts operating safely. Car is out of warranty and unsafe to drive.10/17/2016.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While sitting in the front passenger seat and utilizing the seat belt, the seat belt would periodically lock and cause a lack of movement. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The manufacturer's hotline informed the contact that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags). The remedy would not be available until between march and may of 2017. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

I have a accident or crash car before( the jeep was in making left turn ,in motion) i was in camuy rural area, city of puerto ricoand the airbag doesn't came outthank to our.mighty godit wasn't too muchbutthe air bag it doesn't work.

This car has a recall in place for safety issues involving "loss of airbag and seatbelt pretensioner" and/or "occupant restraint controller." yet no parts are available for the repair. Mopar and fiat chrysler are allowing customers and drivers to remain in danger with this delay.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that an oncoming vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed head on into his vehicle. None of the frontal air bags deployed. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The other driver's insurance company settled and paid for the repairs. The air bags were not diagnosed or repaired. After the contact's body damage was repaired, the check engine, brake lights, and air bag indicators started to illuminate. The contact stated that the overall computer system for the vehicle malfunctioned and all the instrument panel indicators illuminated. Beck chevrolet buick gmc (1601 reid st, palatka, fl 32177, (386) 227-5222) was contacted, but only offered to sell the contact a new vehicle.the manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags). The failure mileage was 29,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Fiat chrysler notified me by letterof campaign x86 for inadvertent active head restraint "deployments". But all they did was extend the warranty for repairs in the event of a deployment. I am scared to death that i will getunexpectedly punched in the back of my head while driving. I drive narrow mountain roads and a lot of two lane highways where one mistake can be fatal. My cervical stenosis may also result in a horrific neck injury. My wife also is unlikely to survive a deployment without injury, being less robustly-built than me. Fiat chrylsler should replace the defective part before others get hurt. Nhtsa should tell fiat chrysler to issue a safety recall.

Both headrests have sprung out. On two separate occasions the car was parked, off, and without rear impact the headrest ejected.

I have a accident or crash car before( the jeep was in making left turn ,in motion) i was in camuy rural area, city of puerto ricoand the airbag doesn't came outthank to our.mighty godit wasn't too muchbutthe air bag it doesn't work.

While turning into a parking spot the bolt in the ball joint broke causing damage to the axle ,ball joint ,and a-arm. After having the jeep loaded on a flat bed and taken to a dealer for repair the mechanics told me i was lucky it happened in a parking lot rather than on the bypass i had just driven atwhich the speed limit is 70. If it had happened there it most likely would have been a very serious accident being the jeep wouldhave beenuncontrollable. Has there been any talks of a recall for this problem ?i am hearing this is a problem that happens a lot with the factory installed parts but the after market parts seem to be ok so far. I am sure you are thinking it must be my driving and off roadingbut i only drive paved roads and have never had a ticket in the 34 years i have been driving.

Front and rear subframe of the jeep has bad corrosin, jeep only has 80,000 miles on it. It is pass the warranty coverage, why is this not a recall?

Front control arms and/or bushings have gone bad, before 72k miles.causes steering instability and excessive tire wear.dozens of other reports of this same problem for this same make/model are easily found online.this is obviously a manufacturing defect, and it merits a recall.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact was traveling 20 mph when blue flames and black smoke emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The contact confirmed that the plastic rear bumper caught on fire. The vehicle was not destroyed. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the rear bumper and confirmed the failure was caused by a hanger in the muffler that was too close to the bumper. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 4,200.....updated 10/11/12 updated 10/15/2012

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the front driver's side subframe was corroded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the frame and air conditioning vent needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to charlie's motor mall (465 western ave, augusta, me 04330: (207) 622-7327) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with manufacturer communications: 23-007-17 (revision b) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle retained water leading to excessive water build up on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had two openings on the rear passenger side, and the vehicle would need padding to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle emitted a grinding sound from the rear end of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the subframe and cradle had rusted completely through causing a fracture. I was driving my jeep and it seemed to sound really loud, like a motorcycle, and when i'd accelerate it wasn't smooth, it's almost like something was stuck. I was running errands and when i went to put some groceries in the back, i noticed my bumper looked funny and i could not see the tail pipe. I called the dealership (i had called earlier to make an appointment for this noise, before i noticed the bumper). He told me to come in and they'd fix it. The tail pipe got lodged up in my bumper, burned a hole in the bumper, and started burning the frame of my jeep. It was extremely hot and had i not noticed it, would have started on fire. The guy at the dealership said he had seen this one time before when someone hit a snow bank. We haven't had snow in months, and that weekend i drove my jeep to my mom's and it was parked all weekend. I did not hit anything, and no car could hit me that low to lodge that up. I now check every time i get in the car to make sure i can see the tailpipe since i'm not sure if bumpy roads can cause this to happen again.

My 2012 jeep patriot has wet carpets on the driver side front and rear. The headliner is also leaking every time i go though the car wash or it rains heavily. This is a extremely common jeep patriot problem and it needs to be recalled. These jeeps are leaking constantly. I am tired of my jeep having wet carpets and water leaking from the roof. This will happen if i am moving or just parked. Water constantly comes in. This has happened ever since i bought my car. It is asking for the date it happened i am going to just put todays date, but just know it has happened with my jeep for its entire lifetime.

Front and rear subframe of the jeep has bad corrosin, jeep only has 80,000 miles on it. It is pass the warranty coverage, why is this not a recall?

The rear bumper on my patriot caught fire from the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe appears to have risen behind the bumper causing my bumper to melt and catch fire. I removed the melted/burned plastic around the pipe to prevent further damage

The back passenger floor board is consistently soaking wet, with a standing puddle of water. Well dry it up as much as we can and the next morning if its rained the back passenger floor board will be completely wet again. The inside of the windows get extremely wet and dewy to were there is water dripping from them including the inside of the sunroof window. We again soak it all up, as much as we can. But the upholstery on the seats, sunroof cover and the headliner stay very dewy and moist to were your butt/pants and tail end of your shirt are both damp from sitting in it. We took it to the dealer and they stated the obvious that the carpet and the upholstery needed to be replaced and the jeep need to be completely dried out thoroughly, but that they couldn't find the issue as to what could be causing the leak. Needless to say that wasn't much help. Were very concerned and don't know what else to do, worried all the water is shorting out the electrical. The driver side seat heater hasn't been working since the leak issue.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving at a low speed, she was informed that there was an object hanging from the undercarriage of the vehicle.

Front control arms and/or bushings have gone bad, before 72k miles.causes steering instability and excessive tire wear.dozens of other reports of this same problem for this same make/model are easily found online.this is obviously a manufacturing defect, and it merits a recall.

Rusted sub-frame in the rear of the vehicle that is completely broken.a google search shows this to be a major problem for jeep which makes the vehicle dangerous to drive and should be recalled.the rear started making pound clunking sounds.if it get worse the rear wheel could fall off the vehicle.

Front and rear subframe of the jeep has bad corrosin, jeep only has 80,000 miles on it. It is pass the warranty coverage, why is this not a recall?

Metallic clunk heard when pulling out of a parking spot ot driveway (making a y turn).metallic clunk heard when pulling away from a y turn.dealer checked but could not duplicate the problem.kept the car overnight but still could not duplicate the problem.was told to come back when problem persists.

Vehicle failed ri safety inspection due to corroded / compromised rear suspension crossmember.understand that chrysler corp. Is replacing this and other like components on my year jeep patriot.they are directing that the entire tar suspension components be replaced.ting that i replace the

Took jeep patriot to firestone service center for full inspection. Upon completion of inspection was told by the tech that my vehicle had severe underbody rust/ rot and that the front and rear crossmembers needed to be replaced among many other components needed repair/replaced such as complete brake job, cv axles, gas tank bracket and two seized lug/studs. Apparently, fca has a warranty extension called x69 bulletin that repairs the crossmembers for rust/rot but it is only for vehicles manufactured before 24 january 2012. My vehicle was manufactured on may 2012. This is unacceptable. It is clear that this issue was not rectified for vehicles manufactured after 24 january 2012 and this issue should be subject to a full recall and not a narrow warranty extension.broken/compromised crossmembers could result at a minimum of vehicle destruction and serious injury to driver/passengers and a maximum loss of life due to this manufacturing defect.the nhtsa should act accordingly and force fca to start a recall immediately.

When i first purchased the car, i notice that i had to fill up the gas every week. After a while the low air notification came on. Basically i find myself adding air to the tires once every few weeks. Since i've done that i noticed i have a little better gas mileage. But i wanted to know am i alone with the faulty tires or are they leaking and what should i do. Do i go back to the dealer? they are goodyear brand of tires.

As i am driving down the road, the car shuts off. I am unable to accelerate and have no power steering. This has happened several times with speeds anywhere from 2 mph to 70 mph. Once happened while pulling out of the driveway, driving on the highway, and on secondary roads. At first i could just pull off the road, turn the car off and then on again. It would start right up. The last few times, i had to wait for a longer period of time sitting on the side of the road before it would start. One instance i was unable to pull off the road due to being on a hill and not driving very fast. The vehicle would not start right away. I was stuck in the middle of the road and a car almost hit me from behind. Very scary! i have the vehicle in the shop now with no luck so far as to the problem.

I was driving on a highway when i lost power to the vehicle. Fortunately, traffic was not heavy and i was able to drift off to the side of the road. I had two passengers and we were able to push it off to the side so we were as far off the road as possible. Time was approximately 8pm on march 2, 2019. This is at least the 3rd incident we have had with this vehicle with this same problem. I believe there was a 4th but i will have to verify that with my wife who is out of town and i have not talked to her yet this morning. It is her car and i was using it. I believe the first incident occurred in the summer of 2015 when my son was driving it. While my son was waiting to be towed he tried starting the car after 20 minutes and it did start. He let the tow truck and dealership know that and proceeded on his way without incident. The dealership has looked at the incident when it happened again and they say their computer is not registering the problem so therefore it must not exist. Our mechanic has looked at it and he believes it is a throttle body sensor and for some reason the vehicle shuts down when it thinks it's too hot and upon sitting it cools down and thus starts. However, we sat for about an hour before the tow truck arrived on march 2, 2019 and i was unable to start the vehicle. I had it towed to the dealership and that is where it is now. I am not a mechanic so my explanation of what is causing the problem may not be totally accurate. What i do know is that had this happened when traffic was heavy i may not be alive today to be reporting this recurring problem.

Jeep stalls randomly, has happened while stopped, and while driving. This has happened on 4 different occasions. On another occasion vehicle lost power driving, as if it were going to stall, but after about a minute regained power

Takata recall my catcaylic converter went bad its not working due to failure and vehicle will stall and not go backward are forward. I here its a a recall for this.

Evap system leak

Massive water leaks from the sunroof and dome light fired the radio and control dials also water in on the rear floors after rain

As i was driving toward a freeway entrance, i was suddenlyno longer able to accelerate over 25mph. My jeep was still under warranty so i took it to the dealership and they told me an electrical censor needed to be replaced in order for it to run normally again.

After heavy rain or car wash, water pours out of map lights into the radio and gear shifter. It is dangerous/distracting while driving and i'm afraid it will eventually cause electronics and the jeep's main computer to fail. While turning, the water will soak the driver or passenger suddenly depending in which direction the turn was made. The vehicle was taken to the dealership on two occasions to identify the problem and fix the issue. A video of it happening was shown to them so there would be no misunderstandings and to help them see the problem. Both times the dealership said they fixed the problem, however, it still leaks.

Repeated problems with the cvt transmission overheating during normal driving, loss of power and suddenly unable to accelerate after stopping at intersection. This is an ongoing problem with the jeep cvt's, and is a safety concern regarding the sudden nature of the problem occuring while driving normally.

My jeep has been to the dealer five times for a major sunroof water leak please help .my jeep smells like mildew the radio and ac controls are not working correctly and there is only 28000 miles on my jeep...........

While i am driving if i or my passenger who is driving beside me in the front seat accidently hits the gear shifter while i am driving on the highway or any road and it has almost caused me to get rear ended several times because when accidently hit it gets knocked into 1rst,2nd and sometimes 3rd gear which causes the car to decrease immediately and because of this causes me to almost get into an accident this has happen several times the gear shifter is barely touched and it kicks into a downshift gear. This is a safety hazard and needs to be fixed so it doesn't move so easily. I was in pennsylvania on a busy 2 lane road that big flat bed and trucks go down and i was traveling at a about 65 mph and i had my teenage daughter in the car with who was sleeping and moved her leg in her sleep causing her to hit my gear shifter without my knowledge and my car just slowed down and when i looked quickly to see what was going on it was the gear shifter was accidently hit knocking the car into a lower gear. I had this truck hot on my bumper he had to tap on his breaks a little causing him to smoke some with his tires and i was able to find a small opening so i could hurry and pull over. This has happen several times.

I replace a transmission through the jeep dealership now i am having problem again with the tranny it stalls . I have to cut it off to restart it for it to have power to pull off.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 75 mph and attempted to change lanes, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to increase in speed. The vehicle was pulled to the side and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to another dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated as well. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly revved up at high speeds and then stalled. The contact stated that no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact mentioned the vehicle was a five speed manual transmission.the manufatcurer was made aware of the failure and decided to send engineers to inspect the vehicle in order to make the assessment of the failure. The failure mileage was 60 and the current mileage was 16,000.pmb

Cvt transmission overheats and acceleration computer needs adjusted because its sporatic. It overheats on highway and accelerates funny in town.

Luckily each time this happened, i was able to pull over and avoid an accident, others might not be so lucky. Until this problem is resolved, my jeep is not safe to drive.

The contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while entering a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The vehicle drove over the curve and crashed into a tree. The contact sustained injuries to her knee caps and the front passenger sustained bruised ribs. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 2,260.... Updated 12/26/12

Heated mirrors: the mirrors are heated to melt frost or ice. This feature is activated whenever you turn on the rear window defroster. Using this feature during morning warm-up i was surprised to find the drivers side mirror with a top to bottom vertical crack down the mirror after a brief 15 minute warm-up period. This occurred in my driveway in an open area at a temperature of around 26 degree f. Faulty part or non-tempered glass used?

When i first purchased the car, i notice that i had to fill up the gas every week. After a while the low air notification came on. Basically i find myself adding air to the tires once every few weeks. Since i've done that i noticed i have a little better gas mileage. But i wanted to know am i alone with the faulty tires or are they leaking and what should i do. Do i go back to the dealer? they are goodyear brand of tires.

The vehicle was stationary in my driveway when i noticed that my tire,on the driver's side, was separating down the middle of the tire. I brought my car to firestone so that my tire could be inspected. Once inspected by onsite workers, they told me that the tire had failed and that i needed a new one. I am attaching pictures to show how my tire separated. I still have my tire so that i can send it in for firestone to further investigate the tire failure.
