I am making a compliant to your company about my airbags and seat belt pretension. I received a recall notice in july 2017 and went online to find out how and where to get the recall issue handled. While online i was informed that the parts needed to correct my seatbelt and airbag problem was not in. I applied to receive an email to inform me of when the part(s) needed to correct this issue would be in. I was given a reference number since 7/24/17 and i have not received anything on getting my car repaired. I drive this car daily and would like to know when it will be repaired. I fear for my safety driving my vehicle with my child, knowing already that my airbags and seatbelts will not deploy in the event of an accident. Chrysler has no idea when the part will come in and so we just have to "hope" i do not get into a car accident prior to then according to chrysler.

"takata recall"i received a safety recall letter on my jeep and went down to my lithia jeep of reno to make an appointment. I was told i could not make an appointment at this time. I was told that they are only doing 10 recalls a month, and that there are at least 100 persons ahead of me. Lithia jeep of reno is the only jeep dealership in town! i expressed shocked that i was to wait over 10 months on a recall part, and the service employee just shrugged his shoulders.this is highly unacceptable!

Driver left road, proceeded over a short grassy area, up into trees, hit a tree head on /right side, then rolled to the left down an embankment.the left side air bags did not deploy. Injuries included traumatic brain injury.the recall notice for side air bags arrived by mail a few days later. We can supply mileage on car later but probably under 15,000 miles.

I rolled the jeep and not all the air bags properly deployed. Even the cop was surprised. The airbag did not come out of the steering wheel.

On may 18th 2017 my daughter had a crash that resulted in her death while driving her 2011 jeep patriot. She ran of of a fm road, jumped a small drainage culvert on a downgrade. Continued straight and hit another drainage culvert a little larger with cement around it on an upgrade with the passenger side front tire. On the other side of the culvert was a stop sign at an intersection. The stop side broke off damaging the windshield and roof on the passenger side. Then the vehicle continued into a private yard where the jeep came to rest. The jeep has a standard transmission and was found in 5th gear. A parametric lived close by and attended to her right away but was unable to revive her. I was not notified that my patriot was under a major safety recall.i contacted chrysler corp. And was given the run around.i finally was put into a rental that i did not have to pay for ( i had to pay the first week because they refused to pay for it at first) and as of now my car is sitting in my garage with a full tank of gas, brand new transmission and brand new tires.there is no fix and i have been in a rental for about two months.i feel this recall is bigger then they are leading on and that there will not be a fix.i do not know what to do.i am extremely upset that i have been driving this care for over three years with my children in it and the possibility of the safety system not working terrifies me.please let me know what i can do about this.i am at a loss of words.side not: my drivers air bag malfunctioned a few months ago when i was driving it.this was before the recall and if i did not purchase a warranty i would have paid out of pocket.

While traveling going down the road under very common conditions as far as smoothness of road, the passenger seat headrest deployed all of a sudden. I understand from reading online articles about this part, this is to happen during an accident. However, i also read that many have had this issue with headrest deploying under normal driving situations. This seems to be a very dangerous situation if it were to happen in the drivers seat.

I purchased my 2011 jeep patriotin march 2011 and one day it suddenly stalled while traveling 50-55 mph on the interstate. The car had been traveling on the road for only 5 minutes prior to the incident, with no stops or problems. I was meeting my husband for lunch and the car just stalled and i pulled over on the side. I was in shock because the were cars behind me and i immediately put my emergency lights on. I called my husband and told him what happened and he asked me did i hit a bump wrong that may have caused this issue and i said no. I immediately called my dealer and left a message. The service center called back and i gave them details. They told me to bring the car for a few days and allow them to drive it, but i wouldn't have a replacement vehicle. So they told me that if it gave me any other issues to give them a call. A few months later it did the same thing, again when i first took off leaving my home. At this point i was assuming it was something i was doing or hitting a bump wrong. So i called them and gave another notice to the dealer. Same day the windows started to go down by themselves. Again, i thought i touched the switch wrong and cause the window to roll all the way down but it not only did it to my window the passenger window did the same. So during the first oil change at the dealership, i told them to check everything out because the vehicle was doing weird stuff. Never saw any warning lights on the dashboard. No putting occurred when the car shut down. It's been over a year now and we have only dealt with the windows going down by themselves, but the car isn't turning off..thank god! my father in law brought the recall issue to our attention and wanted us to contact the dealer because we have two young kids. We travel alot and would like this matter taken care of before we decide to travel for the holidays.

While driving to work this morning my radio went off and on and screen turned black.i drove a little further to find a place to pull off when my dash board lite up with everything malfunctioning light and then went black.i pulled over and turned the car off. When i turned the car back on everything appeared to be alright.as i continued on to work the radio started going on and off again. I have had the problem with the water leak and it has not been fixed as of yet.i am thinking that maybe due to the water leak from the dome lights and fire wall may have gotten into the electrical area.please you really need to look into this before someone is seriously hurt or worse.i have my family in this vehicle regularly including my 2 year old grandson and 10 month old granddaughter.they are my life and i do not want anything to happen to them.

I will be driving my jeep patriot and it will just stall out. I have to wait for a while and it starts up. It will again stall or run fine for awhile. The last time i was entering the 10fwy in los angeles and it stalled nearly causing a major accident. I had my 3 young kids with me. Now it sits in my garage as i make monthly payments. Help me

My wife was driving her car on a day after it had rained. As she started to take off, water started pouring out of the overhead interior light and also the front interior light. This continues to happen after a rain. The rains comes down from the sunroof somehow and settles in the upper interior lighting system. It is enough water to soak any person(s) in the front seat(s) or completely soak a small towel.

While driving to work on 12/03/13 i was at an intersections attempting to accelerateand turn in to traffic on a busy highway when my car would not accelerate, almost got hit. Car continued to hesitate as i pressed the gas pedal down. Car slowly accelerated but would not go more than 40 mphs.car continued to pull and hesitated as i was attempting to get it the shop.major safety concern and almost get in a major accident attempting to turn into traffic.

Car engine cuts out while stationary or trying to start moving. Steering wheel and shifter locks up. Then typically restarts right away. Check engine light thens comes on, but nothing shows up when running diagnostics. Very scared this will happen to me while going 70 on a highway. I could easily be hit. This seems to be a very common problem among this type of car.

I was driving and i was coming to a stop when my serious xm radio cut out, the next thing that went out was my dash light and my car surged and shut off. Nothing was working after that my four ways didnt work and my car wouldnt turn over or start my gear shifter wasnt responding to any shifts and my gas wouldnt work either so i was rolling backward. After about 10 i unlocked my doors and everything clicked back on and started to work again.

I have been experiencing the car wanting to stall out. It is as if the gas is not getting to the engine. I begin to lose power and steering. I gun the gas, but it hestitates. This is hugely dangerous. I am the original owner and have serviced it regularly, and to this day only about 44k on it. This is scaring me. My mechanic just put dry gas in to perhaps alleviate any possible water in the tank after a recent fill-up. I have been reading of many others having the same problem. This is time for a recall, folks. Had i not been on back roads, i could be dead, as could others. I will not drive this on the highway and i need actions, as do many others who have complained. We have way too many jeeps with this problem. Step up, please.

The vehicle stops without warning - i have almost been hit several times when driving - the car just stops running this has happened on the highway and on neighborhood roads and at intersections - if you let it sit for awhile it sometimes will restart it has been sitting in my driveway for over a year (partly due to covid) but i am afraid to drive it - marshall dodge jeep in crittenden ky has identified the issue is with the totally integrated power modular (tipm) - i have contacted chrysler for recall as i know other makes have been recalled for this but they tell me that you have not issued a recall for my particular make model - prob due to it is a limit edition they only made a few of these for their anniversarymy car has over 100,000 miles and i expect to make some repairs but this seems irresponsible on the part to chrysler and i would expect them to make good on it to some extent - i could have been seriously injured when my car stopped going 65 mph on the highway - the first instance of this occurred in 2019 - it is random so it took a long time to diagnosis and then covid kept my car parked but i am afraid to drive it now

A year ago, i brought my 2011 jeep patriot to a car wash. The sunroof was closed, however while going through the car wash, water started pouring through the sunroof and the light fixtures, instantly causing an electrical short and damaging the roof liner and the car stereo. I immediately brought the vehicle to the local jeep dealership. They kept my car for two days and called me to explain that "the car had dried out so you can come pick it up." i told them that i was hesitant to pick the car up because there would surely be additional damage that would need to be investigated i picked up my car the stereo and lights still did not work. Frustrated, i called the jeep corporate customer service line. The representative explained to me that jeeps were not meant to be taken into car washes. I asked her how jeep can manufacture off-road vehicles that cannot be washed. She replied that i could get a bucket and hand wash my vehicle.i decided to take my car to an out-of-state dealership .they had it for several days and called to tell me there was nothing wrong with it and i could pick it up. Once again, i picked up the vehicle and the lights and stereo still did not work. Out of frustration, i gave up on the issue for awhile until i was driving down the highway and water started pouring through the sunroof and fixtures once again- distracting my driving because water is pouring everywhere. I promptly brought my vehicle back in to the local dealership. They called and told me they found a piece of painter's tape in the sunroof from some recent painting to my car i had done. I approached the paint shop with no reply. Today, the car started leaking through the sunroof and fixtures causing water to stream down the inside of the windshield, limiting my vision while driving. My car is still not fixed because jeep is unwilling to acknowledge that there is a problem.

At idle and while driving, the electronic throttle control (etc) light blinks intermittently and i lose power.after about 4 days of this happening, not only did the etc light come on, but the electronic stability control (esc) light came on.then the 4x4 light, airbag lights, and engine light came on.the jeep ran really rough at idle.i took it to a certified jeep dealer to be told that i need the throttle body replaced for $591.the mileage on my jeep is approximately 51,000.

Vehicle was randomly unable to start in stationary position in my instance. Auto shutdown box harness and fan contacts poorly protected from moisture and contacts become corroded. Relay panel appears to be located in the driver front fender between the wheel well and the headlight.either preventing vehicle from starting or possibly causing vehicle to stall when in motion making vehicle difficult to steer or stop.also causes multiple engine codes to become detected activating mil.

The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic where they diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the alternator was replaced again however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the alternator was replaced a third time however the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new battery. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. Prior to this failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the motor and the window were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 35-40 mph, the contact noticed boiling hot water coming from a clogged air conditioning drain tube, which overflowed between the engine compartment and the firewall. In addition, water dripped down onto the leg of the driver and caused a burn. Medical attention was not required. The contact also stated that the clogged air conditioning drain tube caused water to immerse to the driver's and passenger's side floorboard, which caused the transmission module to become water logged and fail. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

I'm lucky i wasn't driving down the highway or a fast road as my jeep just decided to stop responding to the gas pedal due to a faulty tipm and slowed down to a crawl. The flatbed operator was unable to get the vehicle to drive.

My wife was driving the jeep and it turned off on her twice trying to get it back home. All electrical went out and engine stalled. After the second time it only goes 10 mph and still stalls and powers off. It is very dangerous and i feel something should be done from the number of complaints on the web.

I have had my car stall on the highway at a high speed and also at low speed at least 7 times since i have owned it. I have contacted a jeep dealer and also jeep customer service. They will not fix under a recall. I have researched this problem a lot and it has happened several times to several people.

For the past 3 weeks the vehicle will randomly not start. It will eventually start after several attempts. It acts like its not getting fuel ant the "etc" warning light comes on. Recently my wife was driving on the expressway at 60 mph and the car suddenly stalled in the middle lane without any warning lights. She was eventually able to get it restarted and drive home.i have had it at the mechanic several times and cannot duplicate the starting issue or stale issue. Replaced relays after reading that there are known issues with relay box due to corrosion and placement of relays in wheel well but this didn't help.there is obviously a serious computer / electrical problem with this model.i have read dozens of posts about very similar issue and unfortunately found that there is no fix from dealers and no information about possible causes. I'm very concerned with the staling issue since it is extremely unsafe. Please help.

Since i bought this in 2011 it has always idled rough and stalled randomly. Apparently there is no fix for this random stalling and it has almost caused me to get in several car accidents and one time to crash on the sidewalk and almost harm pedestrians. Unfortunately i think i will be forced to sell this vehicle.

Driver's power door lock stopped functioning.it is solely the driver's door.all other power door locks function appropriately.the driver's door lock does not automatically lock when the minimum threshold speed is reached.it also does not automatically lock/unlock with a key fob.power door locks were created to enhance driver safety, so the fact that this stopped functioning on a vehicle less than 3 years old is particularly concerning.a search of web sites suggests this is a known issue with these jeeps, but the dealer reports no recalls nor service bulletins.

I have a 2011 jeep patriot 4x4 with the 2.4 liter and for the last month my wife and i are having trouble with the engine just shutting off and not wanting to start.only had 2 times when the engine would just shut off while stopped(thank god)and have has numerous times when the engine just will not start..sometimes you have to mess with the gear shift but most times you have to turn the key really hard to start or just keep trying until it decides to start.my main concern is that it will just shut off while running down the interstate.i called chrysler and they said they had no recalls and i ask them to make not of my problem and they said they would..the gentleman said they were no recalls for my jeep.

On 12/28/2016, the front passenger window motor and master switch were replaced by south point chrysler (sp). They had the car for 9 days since they encountered an electrical problem. Coincidence? provided a rental car thru due to extended warranty. From 1/23/2016 3 alternators have been replaced and 2 batteries by precision tune (pt). The car has the symptoms ofstalling/ding and a few minutes/hours later it starts. Since 3/12/2016 i have taken the car to the dealership since electrical components are under extended warranty and secure net warranty only paid a portion of the alternator repair. 3/12-3/16 sp had the car and were unable to reproduce the symptoms, at this point the battery was replaced brought over by pt. On 3/20 after being on the highway and now on a city street the car dies again in the middle of the drive. No response, dead! i was able to pull to the side, get out of traffic lanes and clear the railroad tracks. I walk to make a phone call takes me about 15 min. To return and the car starts again. Now at home, the car does not start back through the evening nor in the morning before i take a ride to work, so it is towed to pt 3/21, and are able to start it without problems, alternator and battery readings, perfect . I take it to sp on 3/22-3/26 and they are unable to reproduce symptoms. On 3/28 car back to sp since i need this problem taken care of because of the dangerous potential it poses. On 3/28 i call chrys, they claim will be sending a star engineer to lookinto this matter.on 3/31 sp want to return the car, unable to reproduce problem and i find out that they were not informed that an engineer would be looking into the car. On 3/31 after 2 calls to chrys. Informed me that the dealership is the one that makes the request to have a engineer come and inspect the car. I need the car fixed since it poses a danger to me and others, refunds

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and was towed to a dealer. The technician stated that the starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000.

Hi there, i am experiencing a strange issue, where my patriot will shake/vibrate really bad when in drive and sitting idle (like at a red light with the foot on the brake). If i place it in park, neutral or start driving the heavy vibration goes away.motor mounts ok, i have a problem with the crankshaft sensor before but is been replaced. Anyone else having a similar issue, or have any insight? i have a 2007 jeep patriot limited with about 80k

Takata recall- i am having problems with my electronic throttle control flashing on while i'm driving. It happened intermittently for a few weeks, and now it won't go away. It causes me to lose the ability to shift my vehicle higher than 3rd gear, and i can't accelerate at an appropriate speed. This problem occurs when i start my vehicle more often than not, although it has happened a few times while i was driving. The first time it occurred, i was driving on the freeway, and it caused my vehicle to lose power for acceleration, putting my son and i in a potential situation for a high speed accident.

While driving at 75 mph, the car stalled. It decelerated and the steering wheel locked up. It would not restart and the check engine light and electronic throttle control lights came on. It had to be towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle and it started right up. A similar incident happened a year ago when i was traveling at 75 mph on a different highway and the dealer couldn't find a problem then either.

While driving the vehicle both the electronic stability control and electron throttle control lights come on and i lose acceleration. Have to turn the vehicle off, wait a minute or 2 and restart.sometimes this will happen 2-6 times during a trip (depending how far i am driving) other times it doesn't happen at all. I can drive car for 2-3 weeks with no problems then all of a sudden these two warning lights come on again. I am afraid to drive on the highway for fear this will happen. This has only occurred while driving on city streets.sometimes the lights will come on when i start the car. The car will start idling very fast

Three times our 2011 jeep patriot sounded like something broke then went into limp mode.we were on a busy freeway twice and getting ready to get on once.after calling good sam roadside assistance they sent a tow truck to a mechanic.we had two different mechanics at 2 different times and they could not get any codes on it.a few years back when on a different incident we went into limp mode and ended up replacing the control modulewhich fixed it.this time was different.i was done after three times.we ended up trading it in for a new honda crv.will never buy another jeep again.we are surprised they never recalled the problem with the control module. I have all receipts and proof

While driving 65 mph down the highway with my son in the car, the car shuddered, lost all power and the powering steering must have gone as i could only turn the wheel with extreme force enough to coast off the side of the road.car then cranked but check engine light was on.drove slowly home.was taking the very next morning to have service done and it happened again.this is very dangerous as there is no way to notify the cars behind you that you have no power or control.this turned out to be the crank shaft position sensor which i have read is a common issue and the 2016 was recalled for this as a church friend told me about his.i'm wondering with the safety risk involved why only the 2016 has been recalled.my father is a mechanic and he said he has never had a vehicle with this issue.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while traveling 55 mph, the vehicle erroneously accelerated and decelerated intermittently. The contact also mentioned that the engine overheated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure and current mileage was 89,000.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 15 mph, the engine stalled. The contact mentioned that the check engine and abs indicators illuminated. The failure occurred three times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

This vehicle has been very dependable up until now, my 3rd year of ownership. The car has been maintained well and has never shown any indication of problems. While driving on the freeway a few weeks ago going about 65mph, the vehicle suddenly died in traffic. All of a sudden i lost the ability to accelerate and the vehicle was coasting. I tried to move over as i was in the fast lane with no shoulder available due to road work. I got over to the far right lane but there was also no shoulder there. Luckily i was able to duck into a work area that had a small opening(i took out a couple cones though). As i attempted to slow the vehicle once in the closed work area off the side of the freeway i lost power steering and the ability to brake. The car would start again but not accelerate and would die again when i tried. We left the car and came back 2 hours later with the same issues. After letting the car sit for 3-4 hours it ran perfectly fine. Two days later i had the same problem while driving on city streets going anywhere from 25-40mph. I had the vehicle looked at and it did not put out any codes thus the mechanic was unable to help me. I took the car home again but now every single time the car runs long enough to reach normal operating temperature it dies while driving. This car is a safety hazard! there were no warning lights coming on beforehand, and after the car has died it sometimes will flash the transmission light or all of the lights will briefly flash and then go off. My car is no longer covered under warranty but i believe this car should be recalled. It has happened to many people across the country and i even saw an investigation opened in 2012. What were the results of that investigation? i haven't been able to find them anywhere probably indicating that nothing ever came of it. I will be contacting jeep as well as carmax where i bought the car.

I was on a short trip when a car behind me frantically waved me to stop and informed me that my jeep was on fire. The exhaust burnt a whole through the rear bumper and melted the bumper. I had no indication that this was happening.

On thursday aug. 20, 2015 i started the jeep to head out for errand duties when it wouldn't start. I tried a again about ten minutes later and it started. Later that afternooni was driving on us1 in levittown, pa when the jeep stopped while i was driving. Luckily, i was able to partially turn my car towards a drive that led to a shopping center parking lot when no longer it could move. The back end of the jeep was hindering traffic and cars were honking away but i couldn't move the car any further. It just stopped right there. Fortunately, i flagged down a police officer from falls township and he came right over to help me when he noticed my predicament. Either he called in for help because i discovered another police office directing traffic away from the jeep. We managed somehow to get the car started and it began to move. I was asked to drive it to a parking space where a maintenance man, along with the officer tightened the bolts on my battery. Then i followed the officer to a service station where another mechanic tightened the bolts, too. The mechanic suggested i get to a service station to solve what happened. I took my jeep to my mechanic for a scheduled inspection on aug.24, if i'm correct. The battery passed inspection but the emission failed the test. Now i'm driving without inspection stickers and proper papers for the police if i should get stopped. Meanwhile i contacted reedmantoll in langhorne, pa to see what i can do to get this fixed. I'm waiting to hear back from them. Now, i'm deathly afraid to drive the jeep for fear i'd be driving and it stops while doing so. I've owned this jeep for 3 days before all of this happened and rarely go out at all due to my fear of causing a terrible accident injuring, or killing, innocent people.

I purchased my 2011 jeep patriot from kraft nissan november 16, 2013.when i initially purchased it they printed out the vehicle history report showing that the vehicle has never been in accidents and that there was only one previous owner.since my purchase i complied with every scheduled servicing and hadn't had any major problems.well, july 15, 2014, as i was driving on the highway, the transmission overheating light lit up so i drove to the nearest gas station and immediately contacted the jeep customer service line and the operator instructed me to let the car cool off before starting it back up to continue with my journey.after about an hour and a half, i began to drive again and i immediately contacted kraft nissan to schedule an appointment to get my vehicle inspected.my appointment was for july 17, 2014, and i left my car there with them for 10 hours, finally i called them and they explained that my transmission fluid was dirty and that i needed to get it flushed and the price would be over $500.i declined the service because the price seemed to be a bit steep, and i began to call around to find a better price, meanwhile, i was charged a $95 servicing fee even though that service should have been covered under warranty.as i stated before, i have never had any major problems with my automobile, well, july 18, 2014 my check engine light lit up and has been on ever since.it is now sunday, july 20, 2014 and the light is still on.i am planning on taking my automobile back in to kraft nissan to see exactly why my 'check engine' has been on since my visit with them.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the alternator and the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. In addition, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure persisted four days later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, they were not able to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

On the second day of ownership, immediately after the first fuel up, we idled through a fastfood drive-through and upon pulling out into traffic, it just died.scary, but all the cars stopped for us.it started right up.i faxed all the information to the dealer and asked if it was them testing the chip you can remove to prevent car theft (or help repo in their case).they never responded.one change we made is we never topped off fuel after that.it has not happened since.however, the cvt appears to have failed now at 32,000 miles.

Everytime i refuel my vehicle, the engine stalls at least twice until the fuel needle is below the fuel mark. I don't overfill my vehicle, so i wonder why is this happening!

I filled my gas tank up today. As i got about 3 miles from the gas station the car began to sputter and lose its ability to accelerate efficiently through all the gears. The car was running rough for about 15 miles until i pulled into my driveway, and began making a weird sound out of the exhaust, still idling rough when parked. I looked into it online and many jeep patriot owners are complaining of similar issues after filling up with gas. They;re saying it's an issue with a "fuel tank rollover valve" or a "vapor liquid separating valve." either way this issue is dangerous and needs to be addressed with a recall of the vehicles to ensure the safety of their operators in the future.

Every time gas tank is filled the car bucks then stalls and the steering wheel locks. This happens right after filling the tank and pulling out of the gas station. I have read on forums that this has been a problem in jeeps for years but has yet to be addressed. According to the post the issue has to deal with the vapor/liquid separator valve. Additionally, i have also experienced issues with gas pumps shutting off when attempting to fill the tank. I attempted to take it to the jeep dealership where i was told i needed a new gas cap. $100 later and still the same issue.

Jeep patriot 2011 is stalling randomly at every speed level. Restarting sometimes immediately possible sometimes after a 1 hour waiting period .

While driving on the highway the car will lunge forward then decelerate.hard to accelerate.even while cruise control is on it will lunge or hesitate.the engine light also never goes off even when i have fixed the problem.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving 45-50 mph, smoke was detected and the vehicle spontaneously caught fire. There were no warning indicators illuminated. There were no injuries. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The insurance company declined to assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 125,000.

While traveling approximately 3 hrs at highway speed, with the cruise control on and in 108 degree weather, the motor shut down. If felt as if the vehicle ran out of fuel. No lights, no warnings, and over 1/4 tank of fuel.after stopping on the shoulder the motor would turn over, but not start, made me think that the fuel pump was bad.5 minutes later it started, but when the throttle was pressed it died again. Another 15 minutes of sitting the vehicle started, but felt "sluggish". I started moving slowly down the shoulder, and the vehicle began to respond normally, and finished the last hour of the drive without incident.

Vehicle stalls and power steering fails after filling gas tank. This happens either immediately, or a few miles away regardless of speed. Vehicle will abruptly and violently buck, then stall minimum of two times.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and operated as designed. The failure recurred twice on separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but no cause for failure was found. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 33,000.

The engine shuts off while driving on the highway/interstate.this has happened 5x now with no warning.today i was traveling approx. 70 mph - the engine turns off by itself.had to wait 90 minutes for a tow in 94 degree weather.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, there was a loud knocking sound coming from the engine before the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the front axle and the control arm needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000. The vin was unavailable. The consumer provided photos.

Loud clunk noise when driving, noticed the sub frame that's the control arms are connected to and the engine and power train are supposed by is rusted and rooted so much i can push my finger through it.

While driving on the highway the engine died while i was traveling at 75mph. Prior to the engine dying there weren't any issues. It simply stopped running and i had to coast to the shoulder. Once stopped i turned the ignition off and then restarted without an issue. Then the engine died a second time as i was merging with traffic. After i pulled over again i went through the start up process and i was able to get to work. While out at lunch the engine died again while i was driving in a residential area. This issue just started today and it has me hesitant to drive, but this is my only vehicle. I plan to take it to the dealership tomorrow, but i've been reading other people who have had this issue and the dealership telling them that they cannot recreate the problem. So i'm trying not to get my hopes up.

The jeep stalled on the highway two separate times.we were traveling 65 mph and lost all power from engine.we were fortunately able to pull into break down lane. Jeep was taken to dealership after each episode, but they were unable to locate problem. Very dangerous. Complaint filed with jeep. Jeep sits in driveway, afraid to use it..not good!!!

The contact previously rented a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the engine stalled without prior warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an auto rental center. The contact was unaware of the repair performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. Recently, the contact discovered there was an open investigation related to the similar defect under nhtsa action number pe12032 (engine). The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. The vin was unavailable.updated 12/11/12*ljupdated 12/12/12

It has happen 3 times that as i am approaching a stop sign, i reduce the speed, make the stop and from there, the vehicle turns off and i get stuck on the stop sign. I have to wait about 3 minutes to re-start the engine. It has also happened once on a red light and again, i wait couple minutes and re-start the engine.

While driving through town (under 40 mph), less than half a mile from departure from my house, the engine cut out. Lost engine power and power steering. Electronic throttle control light and the oil temp light both came on. Was able to move the car to a side street, turned the car off for a minute, and then backon. Upon turning on was able to drive home to switch vehicles.less than two months later the same issue occurred. Engine power and power steering were lost.

My mechanic has been telling me that the frame/subframe of my jeep patriot is extremely corroded. The rust has corroded other parts of my car and it can cause serious safety issues. The corrosion has seriously deteriorated the rear cross member of my car. I know there has been a number of claims to chrysler on the structural damages of some jeep makes/models. I once tried claiming the warranty but the dealer denied services to my car. I need help to fix this.

On a regular basis vehicle sputters and almost stalls out while vehicle is moving and while vehicle is at a complete stop.on two occasions vehicle stalled out completely while driving. Foot was on gas, approximate speed was 25mph, car completely shut off. Would not start up right away. Had to sit for several minutes before vehicle would start up again.vehicle has been at huntington dealership twice for this problem and they have found nothing.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer three times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 13,644 and the current mileage was 18,500.

Going down the road and the engine stalled. Gave no warning just shut off. I had my husband and 8 month old in the car. The engine did start back up.

Transmission is not wanting to shift gears

We have been having a re-occurring issue where after filling the gas tank, the car will stall shortly after leaving the gas station. The latest incident happened on may 6, 2018 after filling the tank and letting the pump's auto-shutoff stop fueling. Leaving the gas station i pulled out into a high-speed 4 lane road and as i accelerated the engine shut down. As a result of the stall i immediately lost all power steering and power braking ability and was almost struck by cars behind me as we all expected me to be able to accelerate up to cruising speed. I was able to safely pull to the side of the road and re-start the engine. After this initial stall, the car ran normally. This has happened several times, with each engine stall occurring shortly after refueling.the immediate loss of power is a major safety issue and should be investigated immediately.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds, the vehicle would suddenly stall. The failure would only occur when using the automation drive transmission and the air conditioner was activated. The contact mentioned that the failure did not occur when using the tiptronic transmission option. The contact also indicated that the failure would occur prior to the engine warming up to normal operating temperature. In addition, the contact also stated that the air bag sensor light had illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

My patriot with 108k miles stalled at 75 mph on the highway 3x last night on a 3 hour drive. It also stalled 4x times today on my 10 min way to drop it off at the dealership. Once while idling and 3x while driving at different speeds. Once while i was turning. I've read online that this has been happening quite a bit to 2011 jeep patriots and even caused a car to be totalled. Please investigate this.

While driving on the highway about 65 the jeeps motor shut off and the check engine light came on. The steering wheel would not turn. I was able to get to the side of the road and put my hazards on. This has happened twice before but i was not on the highway. The jeep will start right back up like nothing was wrong after a few minutes. Please help very dangerous.

The engine stalled after driving at highway speeds. Stalling occurs more often when i have been in traffic for a long period of time.traveling at highway speeds then slowing down to stop in traffic then attempting to accelerate has cause the car to stall on several occasions.the car was taken to the dealership and the service center was told about the issue.they claimed that it was a software problem.the software was updated and the issue stopped for a bit.after approximately 3 weeks the stalling happened again.

I was driving on nb i-5 in a 2005 subaru. The vehicle in front of me was this 2011 jeep patriot that i am complaining about. We were driving approx. 65mph. I was not tailgatting! the jeep patriot's power died. The driver thought she was not getting gas and kept hitting the gas pedal. She never hit the brake. I did not see a brake light and it took me a couple seconds to realize she had slowed, then stopped (that is why i put she was going approx. 30mph). Research shows it takes 2-1/2 time longer to brake if you do not see brake lights. She did not pull over to the median. Needless to say, by the time i slammed on my brakes, i hit her. I was still going about 55mph. My airbags deployed. My 85 year old mother was in the car with me and was seriously injured. I was also injured but was able to recover in a matter of 6-8 weeks. As i research this vehicle, i find that not only the 2011 patriot has this problem, but so does the 2012 patriot.when is jeep going to do something about this problem. Apparently jeep mechanics know this problem occurs but do not know why. Btw, this was a rental vehicle for the driver of the patriot.

I was driving in wausau, my jeep stopped, i accelerated-nothing.i had cars behind me honking and the one directly behind me was coming up fast, i steered to the right and managed to make it into a snowbank.i turned my car off, restarted it.sat for about 10 mins with hazards on and was able to drive back home to eau claire.in february i replaced my transmission.my transmission never went out.my vehicle would just get stuck in reverse, i'd have to put in drive, back to reverse, then to drive again to go.in addition i had two more episodes, one with my twelve year old in the vehicle with me where it just stopped accelerating.so i have a new transmission in.i have also filed a separate complaint regarding tread wear on now tires, but it's a few weeks later and something still isn't right.i'm not getting stuck in reverse anymore, it's only been a month, but i haven't had the jeep stop, but it feel like the (excuse my lack of mechanical [xxx]) fuel isn't getting to wear it needs to go fast enough because sometimes it doesn't accelerate (it's been over 30 degrees all week, it's not due to not having the car warm up). Then when it does choose to accelerate it "jumps" to it.overall it's just noisy.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The car was purchased for our daughter who turned (16) nov 2014.most of the driving took place on local roads with short-term highway miles..(10-15 mins).the first instance occurred on july 4th, driving to relatives for a bbq & fireworks, our family took (2) cars, my daughter had been driving about 40 mins @ 75mph, when the car started making a whining noise and the temp lite appeared on her dashboard.she said the car was bogging down so she pulled over and called us.she waited 10 mins then continued the additional 15min drive without issue.we took the car into our auto repair shop, where the right front wheel bearing was replaced, as they could not find anything wrong with the engine/powertrain, fluids were fine.total cost with labor and materials $260.14.the 2nd instance occurred on sept 18 (today), driving to visit a friend, mainly highway miles, 75-80 mph.she called after (1.5) hours, stating that the temp light appeared and the car was making whining noises.she said the car was not reacting right and felt it was going to stall.when she pressed the gas pedal it would not react.she pulled off the expressway and pulled into a gas station turning off the engine for about (10) minutes.she started the car and finished the last 1/2 hr of expressway miles, staying well under 70 mph, with no issues.the concern is that the problem occurs during highway traveling over 70 mph consistantly over (1) hour. Posing a safety risk of stalling or not bogging down on the highway.this car will be taken to college in the spring 2016, 2-3 hours away where she will be doing regular highway driving and getting to the destination safetly is all that matters.

My wife was driving the jeep and it turned off on her twice trying to get it back home. All electrical went out and engine stalled. After the second time it only goes 10 mph and still stalls and powers off. It is very dangerous and i feel something should be done from the number of complaints on the web.

I have had my car stall on the highway at a high speed and also at low speed at least 7 times since i have owned it. I have contacted a jeep dealer and also jeep customer service. They will not fix under a recall. I have researched this problem a lot and it has happened several times to several people.

Was driving out of a parking lot sunday afternoon. Car was running with no problems and suddenly engine completely shut off without warning. Electronics were still running. Tried to turn engine back on, engine attempted to crank but did not successfully turn on. Tried twice with no success. Waited 10 minutes and it turned on with no problem. Drove down a little further and it stalled again, with electronics still on. Managed to turn engine back on right away, but i was too worried to drive it. Towed it back home. Code p0335 was indicated when scanned. Researched online and discovered engines of 2011 jeep patriot tend to stall without warning.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 35mph making a left turn the vehicle stalled without warning in the middle of the intersection with oncoming traffic.the contact was able to restart the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the contact was not sure if the dealer performed a diagnostic however, the vehicle's main computer chip was updated. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 27,000. Updated 11/13/12 updated 11/19/12

My 2011 jeep patriot (limited, trail rated) suddenly stalled while traveling 70-75 mph on the interstate.the car had been traveling on interstate/highway for approximately 3 hours prior to the incident, with no stops or problems.my husband was driving in the passing lane, noticed that the car started slowing despite pressing the gas pedal.he managed to merge through traffic to the side of the road.the engine had completely died before he came to a stop.no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard.no sputtering or shuddering occurred. There was no indication that the car had overheated.there was no indication anything was wrong until the car began to slow.he did have cruise control active at the time. The car had to be towed as it would not restart after the incident. (he tried to restart several times within the 30-45 minutes it took for the tow truck to arrive, it would try to start (it would turn over?) but would not actually start)additionally,i have noted twice the car took slightly longer to start after sitting in the sun all day, but this is really a non "issue" since it has always started.it just took maybe .5 seconds longer than normal on two occasions. I do not know if the start time is related, at all, to this stalling incident. This car is less than 1 year old, and has almost 18,000 miles on it.this event could have been extremely dangerous.thankfully, there was no other vehicle immediately behind the car when this event occurred.the car is currently at the dealership for service tomorrow.

While driving on the highway at approximately 50mph, my car stalled. I rolled to the shoulder with the residual momentum.after waiting 3-5 minutes the car was able to turn over. I drove the car until i could get a service appointment at my local chrysler jeep dealer; during that time the car continued to stall randomly. Two days before my appointment, my car stalled to the point where it would not turn over. I first towed the car home, the following morning towed it to the dealership. The dealership had my car for 4 days and could not duplicate the problem or detect the origin of the malfunction.since having the car in my possession, i have had the car stall each day in use. This car has proven to unpredictable but most of all unsafe.

While going about 75 mph, coming back from california, the engine seemed to start making a different whining type sound and then the light telling me the transmission was overheating came on.i immediatelypulled over and let it sit for 10 minutes while idling , which the owner manual suggested,.the light then went off and we proceeded home with no further incident.it was really strange though when you are in a large group of vehicle's and you suddenly lose all ability to accelerate; definitely a potential safety issue out on the road..

You need to recall the transmissions in these vehicles its ridiculous how expensive they areno normal person can afford this fix. Nobody in wayne county even wants to work on it. O cant afford a new transmission. I just bought this car. It's only at 120k . I love my jeep. But it is nothing but stress and depression. It is not right man.

While traveling on a freeway my instrument panel lit up and my car lost all power. I was able to coast to the shoulder. When i looked up the panel light meanings in the manual, i determined it was safe to attempt to restart the car. The car would not start. After waiting for a few minutes, i was able to start the car and take it in to the dealer. The service department acknowledged the car problem but was unable to duplicate it. At the time. I had the same problem a few other times, my car stalled in the middle of an intersection and would not restart. Again, service department is unable to duplicate this issue.it usually happens while driving for 40-60 minutes approx. 70-75 mph. After coasting the vehicle to the side of the road... The dealer advised me that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that when driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled and all the warning lights would illuminate on the instrumental panel. The vehicle was able to be restarted after waiting a while. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they advised her that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.

While driving home at approximately 35 mph in our 2011 jeep patriot the engine just shut off with out warning, total loss of power. We managed to coast to the side of the road, put on the emergency 4 way flashers and put the vehicle in park. We attempted to start the car several times to no avail. When attempting to start the car it just kept trying to turn over, we couldn't even get it out of park to try and start it in neutral.a search on the internet shows that this is becoming a common occurrence with the 2011 jeep patriots regardless of the mileage. I think its time for a recall before something serious happens on a highway and someone gets killed.

After hearing a noise in my exhaust system, i checked under the car and found my muffler locked up about 2 to 3 inches with the exhaust pipe pointing directly at the back of my plastic bumper. My bumper was distorted and melting. I caught this problem before a fire started but am confident this would have ignited. I then reached up and pulled with a little force down on the muffler and it snapped back into the correct position. There is no damage to the underside of the vehicle just the damage to the melted bumper. I went to a dealership and showed the service manager the problem. He took pictures and contacted chrysler. After waiting almost two weeks, the service manager contacted me and told me chrysler would repair my bumper as a courtesy. I asked him if they were going to fix the problem with the muffler/hanger but they refused. I am now doing what i can to inform people of the problem and trying to get the problem fixed. I also found a video at oregonlive.com which details the same problem with my vehicle.

2011 jeep patriot dies randomly. It dies going down the freeway at 70 or it can die going down the drive way. I bought the vehicle new and put approximately 400 miles on it and it died seven times. It has been in the dealership shop for six weeks tomorrow. They have had it die on them numerous times and have not ever told me it would be fixed. They said it was a software issues. It will qualify for the missouri lemon law. I am concerned that there are other patriots out there that will die. It is very dangerous as you lose power steering and brakes.

Water was found leaking from the overhead reading lamps and down onto the dash/radio. It has stained the headliner and leaves potential for other water damage and mold.

I have had multiple incidents where the hazards or blinkers randomly flash on and sometimes there is a brief loss of power.

I purchased my 2011 jeep patriot from a car dealership in october of 2020. After a week of having the vehicle, i noticed a loud clunking sound coming from underneath. I took it back to the dealer and was told it was nothing. After taking it to my mechanic, he found major rust and corrosion on the front and rear subframe and crossmembers. I paid $2200 in repairs on the car, only to find out the he only did the front end of the car. The back end is just as bad and the car is unsafe for me to drive. When he did the front end of the car, the pieces fell apart as he began taking it apart. This car was a ticking time bomb. Itā€™snow june of 2021 and i donā€™t know what to do

When filling the gas tank full, the engine stalls and hesitates for about 30 seconds after first starting the engine back up after the filling of the tank. It causes my engine to completely stop working and i have to turn the key off and restart the engine. I have stalled out in traffic causing the chance for an accident. This happens as i turn the car back on and begin driving right after filling the tank full of gas.

Help me

Vehicle will shut off unexpectedly after running for long periods of time. Loss of power steering. Thise would happen at any speed.

My catalytic converter is failing and the sensors are coming on. It needs to be replaced ,i am losing power in my vehicle which is dangerous on the highway.i saw on the news that there is a recall for 2011 jeep patriot which i have but my vin number shows its not on the list. How is this possible?

My jeep started throwing codes p0420, which is saying the catalyst efficiency is below threshold, aka catalytic converter. There have been recalls for this make, model, and year already. I find it hard to believe my car just so happens to not be one of the vehicles to be recalled. Its effecting drive performance and the emissions its producing in the air could be unsafe.

Everytime i refuel my vehicle, the engine stalls at least twice until the fuel needle is below the fuel mark. I don't overfill my vehicle, so i wonder why is this happening!

When filling the fuel tank to normal full level, the vehicle will stall and run at very low ram. This only happens right after filling the tank to full and starting to accelerate at a normal rate. After doing research, this seems to be a very common issue across many jeep vehicles.

Jeep stalls after refueling.anytime you fully fill the tank this is an issue.was very startling the first couple of times it happened.i now expect this to happen, but for other people it could be an extreme hazard.it happens with the vehicle stationary or in motion.subsides after second or third restart...or if you let it sit with the gas cap open for a minute or so, these seems to help.

5 or so minutes after filling up my car it completely shut off while i was in the middle of making a left hand turn in the right lane i was almost hit right on. This makes the 5th time this has happen.

Filled gas tank and restarted jeep.pulled away from gas station into traffic and the jeep sputtered and died.restarted and spit and sputtered and died again.after several tries and waiting, car started.idled roughly for a few minutes then cleared up.no problems or indication of any problems until had to get gas again.another incident while filling gas tank, pump continuously cut off and had to pump extremely slow to fill tank.again, sputter and spat after starting.at times as the gas is going in it sounds like a gulping sound after i stop pumping gas. These problems happen every time have to get gas.it is dangerous and very frustrating.this has been going on way too long. I took it to the shop and the mechanic says the roll over valve inside the gas tank is stuck and i must have a new gas tank installed at $1500.i would welcome you to inspect this vehicle. There have been no warning lamps, signals, messages, or other indicator of a problem with the vehicle.

When fueling ata gas station and the vehicle is off i can only put roughly 25 cents of fuel in at a time.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. After refueling the vehicle, it randomly stalled. The vehicle was to be inspected and diagnosed by a dealer. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,200.

Car shuts off qnd stops without warning everytime after filling tank with fuel... Very dangerous on highway...

While driving the vehicle just dies for no reason. After a while it starts back up with the exception of one time i had to have it towed to a mechanic. A couple days ago it stalled while on the fwy with my 3 yr old son almost resulting in disaster. I bought this vehicle about 6 months.

The problem i am having is with the rollover valve which is located in the gas tank.when i put fuel in, it acts like it is full, even though the gas gauge is telling me that i havetank of gas.it will only take the gas if i put ingallon at a time.then when i start to drive it, it wants to stall, and i have to give it the gas and then it runs.i have done research online and this is a problem in all jeeps.if i am in an accident the rollover valve could remain open instead of closing.the valve is sticking and unreliable.this valve does it every time you put gas in it.

I purchased this vehicle last fall in a private sale. The vehicle appeared to be in good condition and well taken care of. About two weeks after acquiring this vehicle, i was driving along the interstate on a 50 minute trip and the vehicle began to slow down despite being on cruise control. The transmission light came on and i pulled to the side of the road where i waited for 10 minutes and begain driving again. Since this incident in the fall of 2016, the same thing has happened about 10-15 times-including today, a rainy 70 degree day driving the nearly flat route from lincoln to omaha nebraska. I understand jeep has come forward to say this is not a mountain traveling vehicle (very strange jeep because, well it's a trail rated jeep after all).not only is this a nuisance that i cannot drive my work route for 45 minutes without having to pull off of the road at least once but everytime i do, it puts me in a life jeopardizing situation on the side of the interstate where the speed limit is 75mph.this issue needs to be resolved by jeep. I know others are having similar issues because google was able to guess the problem after typing only the words "2011 jeep patriot."please address the problem, jeep, and make this right for everyone who continues to invest and support your (typically) wonderful products.

When i press on the gas to accelerate my vehiclr stalls and does not move then jerks very quickly flying my car forward. I was told i need a new transmission at 115,000 miles. Jeep has knowledge of the early cvt transmission failures and will not replace them. Very unsafe.

Driving on freeway, at approx 65 mph, car whines, then dies. Also, the transmission overheat light comes on all the time. Sometimes it just dies while driving. This is possibly a catastrophic accident. I want action now!!!!!

On a road trip the transmission overheating light came on. It was not hot outside and the engine temperate gauge did not indicate overheating. As soon as the transmission light came on the vehicle began to lose power and stall. It was very scary as we were on the highway with vehicles traveling 70 mph or more. We could of been hit because the vehicle would not accelerate. I feel jeep/ chrysler should look into this since my passenger and i could have been seriously hurt. The vehicle only has 72,000 miles and this is already the second times it does thisand also the actuators are in need of replacement. I am at the point of just considering a trade in and dodging all these issues with a vehicle that does not even have 75k on it. I can only imagine what it would do at 100,000 miles.

Transmission overheat light, decrease speed on highway& noise. This is 4 th time this summer. Steamed on side of highway again this summer until turned off and cool down.

While driving up a long highway hill on a very hot day, the transmission started making a high pitched whining sound.i pulled over to the shoulder to see if i could see anything leaking etc.after finding nothing obvious i reentered traffic and it was fine until we hit the next hill, and the whining started again.on the downside of the hill the sound went away.once i got to my destination i looked online and saw complaints of transmission fluid overheating causing the same issue.the ride home was at night and after i dropped off my passengers and there were no problems.since that time i've noticed occasional "bucking" when driving on flat smooth highway.i made an appointment at my local dealer to check this out.i explained both the bucking and the whining, but they didn't seem too concerned.they updated the software and sent me on my way.i'm very concerned that there is a design or manufacturing problem with this transmission and jeep is not admitting to it.there are many indications online and on this site...i am very concerned about driving this vehicle, especially on warm days.

Traveling freeway 75 miles per hr transmission overheats light comes on and we lost all power with diesels baring down behind us. Speed drops fast to 60 had to coast out of way of traffic behind us to edge of freeway. Called dealership was told to let it cool down and take it to dealership in burley id. They found nothing on computer. Happened again going 75 last week sept 8 same thing. Small grandkids in back seat each time this is a dangerous situation since speed drops drastically with cars or diesels behind you and all you can do is coast off. Engine does not quit just cant go anywhere loses all transmission function. Was told this is happening with several of these types of transmission and to drive in cooler weather keep speed down to 65 and when it happens to pull off put in neutral and race engine to cool it i shouldn't have to do that!!!!its a danger.. Its not safe!! it happened going 40 in traffic also. In first couple thousand miles took it in numerous times. Found federal investigation stating no recall at the time. Its needs to be recall before someone is killed, accidents have occurred to others.

This vehicle has had the transmission control module (tcm) replaced three times by a certified jeep dealer.the faulty tcm causes the jeep to barely start or to suddenly cause the jeep to lose power if driving and only go about 5 mph in reverse or first gear. Also, the traction control, transmission temperature and check engine lights were on.the tcm has failed once when the vehicle was stationary and twice when moving.it takes at least a week for the dealer to order and install a replacement tcm, leaving me without my jeep and causing me to lose any confidence in my vehicle.i complained to both carmax, where i bought the jeep; and to chrysler jeep, which holds the drivetrain warranty.both complaints were rebuffed as not being valid.i tried to upload my documentation but couldn't.i can send it to you via email or fax. The "when did this happen date was the 4th time i had tcm probelms

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact took the vehicle to river oaks chrysler jeep dodge ram (4807 kirby dr, houston, tx 77098, (713) 524-3801) to be repaired per an unknown recall. The dealer found a fractured transmission fill tube. The contact believed that the damage to the vehicle occurred at the emissions facility since no maintenance had been performed on the vehicle previously. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 25,278.

Transmission overheats without warning until it already has happened.transmission slips and makes noise.because there are no codes dealers cannot properly diagnose this issue.. While on the freeway car will overheat and completely shut down leaving ypu at risk of possible collisions.always told it needs a transmission flush. These flushes are already expensive but do not fix the problem on hot days (i live in arizona) its more susceptible to overheating and shutting

Rear sub frame that attaches to the uni body rusted completely through at a cross member. This sub frame is what mounts the entire rear suspension and drive line to the vehicle. Vehicle was purchased aug. 2011 and has 98.000miles on it. Also have had problems with wheel bearings. Not including the factory set, we had to replace the wheel bearings (all 4) 3 times. No accidents/injuries were caused by these because they were repaired prior to them getting to bad. Vehicle is currently parked due to safety concerns with the rear suspension. Substandard steel for cross members and wheel bearing issues with these vehicles are known at chrysler/jeep, when i ordered the wheel bearings staff working parts counter joked about another one sold. When i called the salesmen about the cross member issue i was told that it is known and they replaced several recently at owners expense. I was also told that the recall/warranty extension will probably happen, so keep my receipt for reimbursement purposes. There are also numerous factory recalls or warranty extensions on chrysler/jeep products do to these issues.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the transmission independently shifted out of fourth gear into neutral. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear shift assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and repaired again, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

There have been numerous complaints of early transmission failure, even with with normal servicing. Issues start with a whining noise, overheat warnings, and an inability to accelerate. The most common solution is replacement of the transmission. Late 2014 model year patriots changed to a non-cvt transmission. After replacing original cvt transmission for $2,500 it failed again within 6 months. The jeep is undrive-able. There should be a recall on the cvt transmission. My jeep is undrive-able and still owe $5900 while it sits in the driveway!! transmission slips while driving and jeep stalls making it extremely dangerous to drive. Internet forums have countless compalints about these cvt transmissions with same symptoms!!

In 2012 we had a nail through the tire of the 2011 jeep patriot that we bought new.when we took the car to tires plus to have the tire replaced. We were told that they couldn't legally replace just one tire. The tread wear was so awful; uneven, different tread variances, they couldn't match one used tire. How would they pick what tire to match it up too.we ended up with 4 new tires, we were also told at the time the uneven tread was doing damage to shocks and struts.a year later we took it in for new break pads and rotation, again, even with these "new" tires we were told tread was so uneven, it would be loud, be careful, excreta. I took the jeep into a jeep dealership for a recall 10/2013 "n01 recall" since i had in there i also opted to get transmission service/filter, they too talked to me about my tire wear.11/2013ish my husband, stationed in hi purchases a new jeep as well. Now we are stuck with two of these...2/2014 i find out the vehicle he purchase (not his, but others with same yr/make/model are already being recalled. Then my transmission goes out!a jeep, we have just owned, higher miles all from hwy 94 from my husband compute when he lived in wi to fortmccoy...straight shot...65mh the whole way. In addition they fix sway bar link, arm control and tell me noise that still exists could be wheel bearing, my alignment was so off, they kept it an extra day. So i'm 5k into my vehicle i owed 3 years, the wheel bearing, alignment, sway bar, arm control, shocks, struts all i believe to whatever (i wish i new) was causing the uneven tread wear. There is something wrong!transmission different issue...or is it? i have been told as mentioned above they couldn't "legally" replace just one tire...then how for the last three years can jeep legally let me drive my 4 kids in a vehicle that has obvious problems. Yes, i've called dealership, home office and bbb.

The engine shuts off while driving on the highway/interstate.this has happened 5x now with no warning.today i was traveling approx. 70 mph - the engine turns off by itself.had to wait 90 minutes for a tow in 94 degree weather.

Loud clunk noise when driving, noticed the sub frame that's the control arms are connected to and the engine and power train are supposed by is rusted and rooted so much i can push my finger through it.

I bought the patriot new and it was taken in for regular service and never gave any warning before experiencing critical problems while driving. On 2 occasions the patriot lost power while driving, leaving me in a very dangerous situation in busy traffic.the first time i was told the crankshaft sensor failed and had to be replaced. Yesterday i was driving in on a busy city street when the jeep no longer accelerated accompanied by a loud popping sound.now i need a new transmission on a care with 91,000 miles. There have also been recurrent overheating problems the repair shop cannot explain. I no longer feel safe driving a jeep patriot.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired. The contact was unsure of what exactly was repaired. The contact also mentioned that the failure was experienced several times. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 36,900.

Numerious cvt transmission failure / overheat at highway speeds, very unsafe due to deceleration. Started in aug 2016 and happens monthly anytime more than 45 minutes of driving.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot.the contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning .the contact was able to restart the vehicle however, it occurred twice in one day.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who could not diagnose the failure. The manufacturer advised the dealer to update the transmission control and power train module.the vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 17,001.updated 08/28/14*lj updated 09/4/2014

While driving on the highway the engine will start to whine and then lose power. Sometimes the transmission light will come on and sometimes it does not. Had to pull over 10 times during a trip that was 141 miles . Only 2 occupants in the car with no baggage or towing. Definitely was not overloaded and speeds were around 65 mph the entire trip. We do not feel safe in this car anymore and this is our family travel car!

Driving along and lose of power in the transmission. Got it parked and now it wont go. Didnt have a loud noise or any warning. It just wouldnt go.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that after waiting for several minutes the vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that the check engine warning light would be illuminated every time the failure recurred. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000. The vin was not available.

Vehicle has 79k miles. I started my car and the check engine light came on. I pulled out of the parking lot with no issues and suddenly the car slows down as if there's no power. Almost got hit because i could not speed up. Pulled over and checked the internet for issues. Googled jeep patriot transmission issues and it appears as though this is a common issue. Numerous complaints of driving on the highway and then a sudden loss of power and vehicle slowing to 20-30 mph. I believe this is a major safety concern because of sudden loss of power -- especially at highway speeds! thank you.

Over the past 2 years, the jeep patriot will stutter when shifting gears.it has progressively gotten worse.i had a mechanic look at it twice and he believes that the only fix is to replace the transmission.once i got online, i found that many people have had the same issue the the cvt transmission used in these vehicles.additionally, jeep must know that the cvt is flawed, because they stopped the use of it in 2014.

On approximately 9/4/2014 we were traveling on ca hwy 15 in the baker ca area, temp was approx. 95 deg. And we were going up hill. About half way up, the transmission temp. Light came on and the vehicle started to loose power and slow down. As we pulled to the shoulder of the road we continued to the top and started down the grade, about half way down the light went out and the vehicle ran normal. We took the vehicle to the dealer and was told this was a problem with this vehicle and that the only thing they could try was to replace the cooler bypass valve which they did. On approximately 6/5/15 and approximately the same area the same problem happened. On 6/15/15 we took the vehicle to the dealer again and was told that this a condition of the vehicle a that nothing can be done to fix the problem. I also called the main service hotline for jeep and was told the same thing.

Driving down the interstate on a cool fall day my transmission overheat light came on. After sitting for 20 minutes i restarted the engine and the light went off. The same incident has happened several other times. I took it in to have it looked at and the dealership said that is common and the jeep patriot wasn't made to go on long trips. This is not normal for any vehicle and i still haven't gotten it fixed and now my warranty is up.

2nd time my transmission stall while on the interstate due to transmission overheating light comes on and vehicle will stall and not accelerate past 40 mph. I had to move over three lanes to pull over on the side of i15 n with vehicles coming up to 70 mph. Happy to be alive and that i was not hit. This is the 2nd time this issue happens to me and it seems like jeep is waiting for someone to get kill to fix their cvt transmission issues.chrysler/ jeep know that is an ongoing issue and do not care to fix it. Took it both times to dealer and "is nothing" is what i am told every time "is a fluke in a code" "just pull over and let it cool every time it happens" and well "we don't have a fix for it". They only recommended to replace fluid but did not warranty this will fix problem. Obviously there is something wrong when so many people keep on complaining about this issue. And, well nissan who uses the jatco cvt is fixing bearing in the transmission and transmission coolers and fixing the issue. Jeep/ chrysler just does not care about it customers and tell us "is nothing" never ever buying a jeep and/ or chrysler in life!will gladly trade-in soon as i am not willing to put my life at risk getting hit on an interstate at 70 mph by another car. What would i tell them sorry i am driving 30 - 40 mph on the highway but my cvt transmission is faulty and it stall on me. No thank you!!!!

Cvt transmission jumps out of gear, has trouble going into gear.jumps from automatic to manual on its own.does not always stay in gear when shut down. Transmission ultimately failed and needs to be replaced.

I own a 2011 jeep patriot and the transmission has already gone out!it happened immediately.no warning, nothing.i was driving on the freeway and heard a loud winding noise.i could not accelerate at all.i pulled off the freeway and turned the car off.when i turned the car back on i was able to accelerate, but for only a mile or so. Then no acceleration and i could not reverse. The car has 160k miles.

While traveling at both highway and residential speeds my jeep patriot will suddenly, without warning , lose power . The first occurrence was at ~85,000 and now occurs every 50 miles or so.engine shut down is random without warning and has resulted in near collisions, as i struggle to get out of the moving traffic lane.engine light will come on after occurrence and remain on until car has set for the night. Engine diagnostics do not appear to explain problem per repair center report.

The transmission frequently overheats on trips over 1 hours or where highway speed limits are higher than 70 mph. There is a field for the date of when this happened below; however, it has happened several times. I have to pull off of the road and let it set for about 15 to 20 minutes before i can continue the trip.

I was sitting at the light when my vehicle starts to jump while the vehicle was idling. I took my foot off the brakes to move twith traffic and the vehicle jumps and then drives as normal. I took it to a local shop to have a mechanic look at the vehicle on the 3rd and while he was test driving the vehicle it completely stopped operating as we were turning around and the engine begins to rev but not move and after trying again to get the car to move the engine then began to make a knocking sound. The mechanic then determined that the transmission was going to be going out very soon. So i have parked the vehicle and been doing research to find that this a common thing with cvt transmissions as i have only had the vehicle for 6 years with 152,000 miles. There were no true signs of any transmission issues that i could have avoided this type of breakdown.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving various speeds, the transmission started to slip. On some occasions, there was a loss of power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle performed as intended. The mechanic was not able to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. West hills chrysler jeep dodge ram (900 w hills blvd, bremerton, wa 98312, (360) 616-3275) was informed of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Car stalled while traveling on highway at 60 mph. No warning. Problem continues, dealer will not fix. Says he can't find cause of stalling. However, nhtsa and us gov. Regulatory agency has been investigating multiple similar complaints from other jeep patriot owners including one who had his jeep totaled by another car rear ending his vehicle when the jeep stalled. I am not safe in this car. I need help having jeep step up to fix this transmission which is clearly failing. Jeep is well aware of this problem with the jeep patriot but unless there is a recall, those of us who bought this car in good faith have been hung out to dry.

Good morning,i was traveling on my 2011 jeep patriot for the first time on our way from san diego, california to peoria, arizona when about 100 miles my car had transmission oil hot warning light on my dash.(was not pulling anything) i pulled over cause that is what the owners manual says to do, i did exactly what it instructed to do. The light turned off, and i continued with my trip. This happened twice, but 45 min later my engine turned off when i was on the freeway. I did not get any warning on my dash, i just could not speed up. All electrical was still working as if the car engine was still running. I had to stir the car from the third outside lane to the emergency right emergency lane with no power steering. Once i managed to do that. My car engine would not turn on. I had to call for road side assistance and stay on the 116 degree weather for two hours for a tow tuck. Once all that happened, they dropped the car to a jeep dealer. But the dealer was closed. The next day, the looked at the car, and they said nothing was wrong with the car. They could not figure out what happened. This happened for two days. I got my car back from the dealer with nothing done to it. I looked the problem up in many jeep blogs and it seems this car cant be used on long trips cause the transmission overheats. Im in the military and my wife drives this car. I wish i knew this when i bought the car from the dealer. I'm going to trade this car in for a different make today cause i don't feel safe driving this car. Hope you can look at this issue and help all jeep patriots drivers. Thanks for your help in them matter.

My transmission went out the end of may 2019, i have gone to my bank to get a loan to have it fixe and upon talking to my loan officer he informed me that w.in 150 mile radius there has been 14 loans to have transmissions fixed on how many has there been in the state of wi, in the whole jeep community? there was no given warning that there was a problem w/ our jeep, it just stopped working as my son was about to go to school one morning. It moved about 5 ft and that was about it, nothing more. There is absolutely nothing wrong w/ this vehicle other than the transmission stopping. How does this happen? jeep is a money maker, i know there a many factors in recalls but i find that this is a malfunction in the product itself.

We have had three incidents so far of our 2011 jeep patriot losing significant power and struggling to accelerate. The first involved overheating on a mountain road after a long road trip. Allowing the car to rest allowed us to make it to our destination with no further symptoms during the remainder of our trip. Twice in the last week rpms drop unless burying the accelerator into the floor, at which point there is a loud whining sound with little to show in terms of speed. We have been unable to get the speed over 55 mph on a highway with a speed limit of 70. We also lose the ability to adjust the gear manually. After exiting the highway the car continues to be slow to gain speed at lights, and worse making it uphill to our home, even at 25 mph. After resting the issue subsides until returning without warning. Searching google for "jeep cvt failure" yields dozens of results for jeep patriot and compass, as well as other vehicles using the same jatco cvt transmission. This failure makes the vehicle extremely dangerous on the highway, and the "solution" to the problem seems to be to continually replace the transmission at a cost $5000 per incident to the owner with the same flawed product. I shudder to think what would happen if my speed cut out on me while overtaking a freight truck, or making a left across traffic on a busy street. Please look into this matter, and let's get jatco to at least swap out the transmission for a reconditioned one when these failures occur.

Started making whirring noise, lost power and transmission overheat light came on. Had to pull over on highway at night.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot.the contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning .the contact was able to restart the vehicle however, it occurred twice in one day.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who could not diagnose the failure. My feelings of safety or constantly been tested as i have to travel daily and this is my source of transportation. I feel that 6 months has been long enough to wait for something to be done. Your company has not addressed this issue in a timely manner and no updates have been emailed or sent to me. I believe that for some reason i have been overlooked. I am still awaiting the parts needed with a list of available dates to get serviced in my community. Very disappointed in how this situation has been handled.i have not been in an accident or had any serious issues with my vehicle. I am making this complaint because i feel that you as a company has neglected to fulfill your duty and provide me with the safety measures deserving of a consumer.

Problem recurring on highway and city streets. At all speeds from idle to 75 mph. The latest was on highway driving 75 mph car dropped down to 30 mph and then stalled causing me to lose power steering and braking and almost an accident. The problem is well known to the jeep manufacturer as stated by dealership. They said the throttle body/ software is the issue and occures in models from 2008 - current then verbally quoted me $650 for repair. I then researched online and found more than 2500 people with the issue and that's just people looking for help.

My wife was driving the jeep and it turned off on her twice trying to get it back home. All electrical went out and engine stalled. After the second time it only goes 10 mph and still stalls and powers off. It is very dangerous and i feel something should be done from the number of complaints on the web.

"death wobble". I experienced this on a short two hour trip where i couldn't control the card.every time i hit a bump or tired to turn the car was hard to steer.this jeep has on 40k on it and is 4 years old.i was travelling on the highway and genuinely feared for my life.i was over halfway to my destination so i got off the highway and took the back roads with my hazards on and went slow.the fact that jeep is unwilling to reimburse me for the cost of the repair is upsetting.but what is more upsetting is how they have not issued a recall on this vehicle.i have spoken to several people with regards to the exact same issue and not just with the patriot.this needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or worse.i have no faith in the company now and do not trust the safety of the vehicle.

While driving down the road after picking up my 3 children from daycare. I was going approximately 25mph and the front driver side tire folded outward. The sub frame and cross members apparently are defective.unbeknownst to me there is a warranty 10 year/ unlimited mileage. There was also a class action lawsuit on jeep patriots/ compasses between 2001-2007 because of this issue. Instead of fixing the issue this company/ manufacturer has continued to use these defective parts on newer models such as mine. I might add for some odd reason the class action lawsuit doesn't cover my year although its the same defective sub frame and cross member parts. All they have done was offer this warranty, which i was never made aware of or told about by them or the dealer i made my purchase through. After my children and i nearly got seriously injured or killed did i look into this and found out. Due to these defective parts not only were we almost killed but the car suffered severe damage to the front end and the transmission as well as various other parts and components. I still have payments left on this automobile and it is completely inoperable and really hasn't gotten that much use compared to the amount i've paid already, not even counting what i still owe. I called the dealership and corporate office and they seem completely unconcerned and unhelpful in resolving this issue. I will never purchase a jeep/ fiat/ chrysler product ever again. These people put me and my family knowingly into a very unsafe vehicle and nearly got us killed. If i had been on the interstate doing 65mph and this had happened i would not be here writing this. All i can do is thank god it decided to fail when it did, not later on the interstate. To sum it up tire came off, lost steering control, ground to a halt in the street sideways, car fluids pouring all over road. Also have pictures of scene.

Took my car into mechanic for four new tires.at that time was told by them that lower ball joints showed signs of abnormal wear and tear.they recommended fixing.as i didn't have the time to get it into the shop at that point, i waited.took car in for state mandated annual inspection and it failed - at 38000 miles.not only that but car needed another new tire because ball joint had affected the new tires i just bought.mechanic stated this shouldn't be happening in a car that's barely 4 years old.i do not do any off road driving - just normal about town and some minimal highway.i am the only owner - bought this car brand new.seems like this is a defect that ought to be addressed.i see a lot of conversation on the web about this issue.hope they decide to recall.

The front subframe rusted through on the left hand side which in turn caused the lower control arm to shift outward preventing full steering capabilities. There was a warranty extension dated back from 2017, brought into service ondecember of 2019, to the chrysler dealership where it was purchased for lights on the cluster and a steering vibration and no one mentioned the subframe issue that was persisting on this model year. Was told rather that it needed a new bearing and a speed sensor. Replaced both and the issue wasnā€™t fixed. I am told now (july 2021) that this extension expired in march of this same year. Was told by both the dealer and the customer service hotline that there is absolutely nothing they can do. They also mentioned that there should have been a letter sent out for this warranty extension but nothing was ever received. Been at the same address since well before the purchase date of this vehicle.

The steering wheel constantly needs to be held at an angle for the vehicle to go straight. I've taken the jeep to the shop three times and the problem always comes back.

Vehicle was making moaning noise& had sloppy steering.had to have the driver's side lower control arm changed and the bushing separated (have the old parts in garage).

While driving the vehicle on the highway the front frame broke and the cv and front drivers side wheel fell off the vehicle, i had to wrestle the vehicle off the road. The vehicle has had to have both front and back replaced with several other parts the dealer had broke in the process of "fixing" it

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot sport. While driving at various speeds, the contact noticed that the vehicle would drift to the left intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they adjusted the alignment however, the vehicle continued to drift to the left. The dealer notified the manufacturer on the contacts behalf and both the dealer and contact were awaiting a response. The current mileage was 900 and the failure mileage was 175.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the steering wheel seized and the driver was unable to maneuver the steering. The vehicle was shut off and upon restart, the steering operated as normal. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

Car pulls right when accelerating. Dealer states this is a condition on all 2 wheel drive cars and jeeps from chrysler. Something in the design.

Water in dome lights, unknown source & i believe it is likely there is water throughout the interior.

2011 jeep patriot was purchased brand new sept 2011. Just had it in the shop as something was not right and causing our tire to wear unevenly. Their inspection found the sub frame is now rotted out due to rust after only 6 years! this vehicle has also been very well maintained. This is bull crap. Thank god we noticed ours before something catastrophic happened, but this has very real potential to cause serious injury or deaths if the frame were to fail while driving. And there are tons and tons of complaints regarding this everywhere online. Chrysler just doesn't want to deal with it. Total bull crap. Took it to the dealer to have it fixed under the extended warrenty that was put in place because of this issue, and of course they say there are lots of other parts that are connected to the sub frame that also need to be replaced which are not covered. So basically this 6 year old car isn't worth fixing. Something needs to be done. There were also other safety recalls for this same model.

I have notice a recall on frobt and rear subframe rust and prefoartions and cross memver. Mechanic says subfranes are rusted all the through and broke. He states caris toonew for this to be gappening. Jeep has been a hassle-sibe already replaced $1500 worth of2 a arns/control arns at firestone. Bidy is rusting and car is well cared fir- sibe i have been fighting cancer and this is and has been my onlt transportation fir car. I am asking why nt car is not under any of the recalks but ine cheaper service recalk-as it certainly falls under all the recalls currently the 2011 heep patriot has on it. Ver disappointed and would appreciate any help i can receive in this matter. Also-jeep has always oulled to the right since i bought it-got car alignment still oulls to the right. Again-jeep has been a gassle to own. I biught brand new.

The front and rear subframes rust and crack.. Ive seen online where numerous people are complaining about this issue. This is very unsafe. I was just driving the other day and now it sounds like the wheel or engine is either falling out or busting through

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that there was extensive rust on her vehicle, which included the k frame, the a frame, and the front and rear driver side tires. Due to the rust, the steering was affected and loud metal grinding noises were heard while driving. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the repair cost would exceed the actual value of the vehicle. New smyrna chrysler jeep dodge ram (2555 fl-44, new smyrna beach, fl 32168, 386-424-1300) was called and stated that the vehicle had an extended warranty; however, the warranty would only cover part of the rust repair. The dealer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to their facility to assess what the warranty could cover. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

The technician noticed that the subframe was severely rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 35 mph, a clunking sound was heard under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the subframe on the driver's side was severely rusted. The vehicle was not safe to be driven. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure . The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 81,395.

Jeep patriot 2011 at reaching 90k miles had a poping sound from the driver's side. Took it in and it was then found the subframe/crossmember is completely corroded. It's no longer being driven as at any moment the engine can fall out. This type of corrosion is seen at cars 30yrs+, it's unbelievable how bad it is. We are a household of multiple cars and while the jeep is the youngest one, it's in the worst shape.

I was cleaning my patriot 2011 when i notice that the subframe has holes. I also owen a 2008 jeep patriot and i got a recall for the same promblem. When i contacted the dealer about the same promblem they said they didnt had a recall for 2011 jeep. My biggest worry when driven this vehicle i that at any moment the subframe may brake, me that i drive constaly on a highway it is a damgerous situation. I feel that all jeep patriotowners should be aware of dangers. I notice this because i was playing with my son and a ball went underneath the car. When driving the car i thought the cracking sound was the tires, but was told they were not. So now i am assuming the subframe is to blame. I would highly appreciate if something could be done.

Sub frame has rotted out to the point its falling apart. You can literally start to hear it cracking. This is in a car that is a "grocery getter" that is stored in a garage at all times with 73,000 miles on it. Very unsafe and could easily kill someone.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer for an inspection and was advised that the sub frame was rusted out and needed replacement. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The front subframe is completely rusted out and deteriorated, unsafe to drive any longer.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving 60 mph, the hood of the vehicle moved up and down. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000.

My 2011 jeep patriot only has 80000 miles on it, recently took it to garage for noises and mechanic says the sub frame is corroding and it's going to be unsafe to drive.this is a big expense and especially with so few miles. This should be a recall. I've gone on line and read many of the same complaints.

The sunroof drain tubes freeze causing the sunroof reservoir to fill with a significant amount of water. Any vehicle movement causes the water to leave the reservoir and pour down through the dome light onto the console, radio, and gear shift control.

Took it to get some regular maintenance done and was told the subframe was rotted and be careful driving. Was told it was in a spot that was unusual place to rust out and to contact chrysler to see if there was a recall, there is not

I was on a short trip when a car behind me frantically waved me to stop and informed me that my jeep was on fire. The exhaust burnt a whole through the rear bumper and melted the bumper. I had no indication that this was happening.

The subframe and rear are rusting and the vehicle won't pass inspection and the vehicle is dangerous on the road if the vehicle passes inspection and out of no wear the rust hits and the vehicle is now very unsafe. Jeep knows about the issue but has never issued a recall.they really should issue a recall.thanks

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving at any speed, an unusual noise was heard underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to autoland chrysler jeep dodge ram (800-288-6526, located at 170 us-22, springfield township, nj 07081) where it was diagnosed that the cross member was rotted out and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 155,212.

While driving the vehicle on the highway the front frame broke and the cv and front drivers side wheel fell off the vehicle, i had to wrestle the vehicle off the road. The vehicle has had to have both front and back replaced with several other parts the dealer had broke in the process of "fixing" it

Sub frame rotted out , lower a arm came off on driver side rear .

Structural issue/rust - engine cradle - front cross member rusted through on underside of jeep.the car broke down while we were traveling and had to have a cross member replaced at a dealership. The car ran but was noisy and unsafe to drive, and we were 4 hours from home. Despite having an oil change recently, we were not warned of the issue. The replacement cost about $1500 out of pocket.

Front and rear crossmembers have significant rust/corrosion. Fiat chrysler tsb 23-007-17 rev. B provides 10 year warranty extension for cross-members on 2008-2012 jeep patriot vehicles in rust belt states (including maryland and dc, but excluding virginia). My wife's 2011 jeep patriot has significant front and rear crossmember rust, and for most of it's life was parked in arlington, va, 2 miles from the washington dc border. Fca says that our vehicle is not covered by the tsb extended crossmember warranty. I contacted fca customer care to request that they apply this extended warranty coverage to our vehicle, based on the close proximity to rust belt states (~2 miles), existence of significant rust on both cross members, and the vehicle clearly being within the affected model years covered by the tsb. Fca documented my complaint in case number 79657231, but advised that there is no process for me as an owner to request that the extended crossmember warranty be applied to our vehicle. Basically, nobody at chrysler is even going to consider my request.i am reporting this to nhtsa because i believe the tsb that fca issued fails to remediate safety concerns on all affected vehicles. Their unwillingness to even review my request demonstrates they are not at all concerned about customer or vehicle safety. They should be forced to fix this safety issue on all impacted vehicles.

Bought vehicle from ray price dealer 2 years ago with 81k milesvehicle passed inspection with them(was already inspected upon purchase) was clearly told by salesman that vehicle didn't need to have warranty. Should raised a red flag being i purchase it cash for 10k. Began to notice a clunk sound..took it to my mechanic figuring it was just brakes and or rotors. He called me immediately and said the entire frame was rusted out. And good thing i made it to him and further driving i would have been in a severe accident. He told me to take it to the autobody shop. Upon inspection they found the entire subframe completely corroded. $2000 in repairs( not covered under any warranty) 3 weeks without car. Subframe and control arms had to be replaced

The front k-member on my jeep patriot has a complete rust thru hole that comprises the safety of the vehicle.this is a known issue with the manufacturer and they refuse to cover this even thou they have extended the warranty for older jeep patriots to cover this problem.all jeep patriots from 2007 thru 2015 have the same front k-member part number and yet they refuse to deal with this issue.

Subframe is a hazard

While driving the vehicle on the highway the front frame broke and the cv and front drivers side wheel fell off the vehicle, i had to wrestle the vehicle off the road. The vehicle has had to have both front and back replaced with several other parts the dealer had broke in the process of "fixing" it

Had to replace rear linkage..2 tires worn past use as well...year and a half later..same thing...not a happy jeep owner.

81367 miles and the subframe has rotted out.car has been used for normal use... No off roading.i ahve only owned this car for 6 years.

I have a 2011 jeep patriot latitude that began having a rough ride and rattle noise in the left front wheel area in october 2013. In december 2013 the vehicle was inspected with 42,000 miles and it was discovered that the lower control arm needed replacing because of a bad ball joint. I researched this online and discovered numerous similar complaints on jeep forums indicating it has been a recurring problem for jeep for the past several years due to poor quality parts but jeep refuses to cover it under warranty or recall. I took the jeep to my dealership, golling chrysler jeep in bloomfield, mi. They admitted this is a common problem but not covered under warranty, recall or tsb. I ended up replacing the part for $300 at a repair shop. I feel there should be a recall as this is a common problem and a safety issue that jeep refuses to cover.

Loud clunk noise when driving, noticed the sub frame that's the control arms are connected to and the engine and power train are supposed by is rusted and rooted so much i can push my finger through it.

Takata recall: i had a repair done to my jeep patriot two weeks ago. The repairs were over 800$. I had to have the two front control arms, ball joints, and tie rods replaced. As i was driving to work, i lost steering and now not able to drive my vehicle.

While manistee tire was checking the alignment following the purchase of new tires, the left front ball-joint was found to be defective.time to require that suspension parts be greaseable.

While turning right and entering a highway using a 270 degree on ramp, the cars steering became unstable and suddenly tightened it's turning circle and lunged farther to the right.inspection has revealed that the lower left ( drivers side ) has worn out after only 42,000 miles.a search online revealed that this is acommon problem with the jeep patriot and compass and it is traceable to a bad batch of ball joints.chrysler refuses to acknowledge the problem and cover it under warranty.http://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/patriot/2011/front-suspension-control-arm-problems.phphttp://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/patriot/front-suspension-control-arm-problems.php.

Bought the car new. Replaced left control arm in 2015, replaced right control arm in 2016, replacing both control arms again. Dealer wants $750 for each control arm they replace. Ruined two front tires (which luckily didn't burst on me on the highway), ruined second set of front tires. Again, tires were brand new in 2015 due to the left control arm, have replaced 4 tires since then due to the front control arms. Chrysler won't do anything. There are a million complaints about this on the patriot model online. Jeep dealership service center and two mechanics told me it was a design flaw and it will continue to happen. Looking at $750-$1500 a year (not to mention the cost of new tires) to correct. Silly. Car has never been in 4x4 or off road. Has 74k miles on it and is 6 years old. Given that the tires have steel poking through w/in a years time due to the control arm, this is dangerous!

Ball joints are worn and need replacement at approximately 35,000 miles.vehicle has only been driven on highway and around town.no off-roading.looking at jeep patriot forum on-line this appears to be pretty typical.perhaps a recall should be done so that jeep can put in parts that are durable and safe.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated while driving the vehicle on the expressway, it veered to the right direction. The vehicle was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the under carriage was disintegrated. The vehicle was unsafe to drive and the vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence. The dealer napleton off road located at 5950 n western ave, chicago, il 60659 was contacted and stated that the warranty was expired and offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that soon after exiting his driveway, the driver's side rear tire experienced a blowout. The contact drove the vehicle back to the driveway to inspect the vehicle. Upon inspection, he became aware that the rear crossmember was rusted and was detaching from the vehicle. The contact called executive jeep (900 universal dr n, north haven, ct 06473) and was informed that the vin was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The contact was also informed that the manufacturer had extended the warranty on the vehicle for the failure however, the warranty had already expired. The failure mileage was 135,570.

During normal driving conditions, car was under braking, when a loud bang was heard.immediately after, frequent popping/ banging was heard from the front end.after jacking the car up and looking for the source of the noise, it was noticed that the front frame crossmember subframe cradle had rusted severely enough that it broke where the font suspension connects to it.vehicle is unsafe to drive now.

The front subframe is completely rusted out and deteriorated, unsafe to drive any longer.

Bad lower ball joint at 73khad to replace lower control arm

I went to my dealership for an oil change and was told my front lower ball joints are bad and if not replaced i could not have my state inspection done.i only have 16, 499 miles on my jeep. This makes no sense to me. I have read that the oem parts are all defective.i want chrysler to help pay the costs. I was quoted around $675 with labor.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact noticed that the front tires were worn and three sets of front tires had to be purchased. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the front end of the lower control arm bushing was deteriorated. In addition, while driving, the vehicle pulled to the left or right and the contact had to straighten the steering wheel. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 126,967.

My front end crossmember rusted away & my tire fell off, it's not even drivable. 2 deliverships ran my vin & said its not covered under the extended warranty because it was made in canada & the us doesn't honor canadian warranties. What difference does it make where it was made?

Ball joints/control arm bad at only 41,000 miles.took car for inspection and it failed because of this.technician said these parts should have never failed at 3 years old and only 41,000 miles.of course out of warranty but from what i am finding out, warranty wouldn't cover these anyways.i wonder if these parts were even tested as they should last longer, so seems to me they are defective.

Car has 81367 miles on it, 2011 jeep patriot and the sub frame has rotted and the car is unsafe to drive.it has not been used for off roading, just normal driving.very disappointed, since i have only owned this car for 6 years.

We bought car in aug 2013 with 26k on it.right at about 30k i started to hear a thumping sound in the front end.turns out the ball joints and lower control arm assembly needed replacement.just hit 40k and the other side went.glad i bought the extended warranty which i thought was pricey at the time.this jeep is a big disappointment.not like the jeep cherokees from the good old days which family members found to be dependable.

The rear suspension is rusted out so bad it started to break and i bought this car from dealership 4 years ago and a 2011 shouldnt rust that bad and i have read other people complaints about they had to replace rear suspension crossbar due to full rust and breaking and if im not the only one having this issue how many other cars same make and model are effected by this can we please recall this asap so we can make sure no other cars are affected by this the date it was noticed is the date i put when did this happen the car auto shop wouldnt even touch my alignment cause he was so scared my rear supsension crossbar would shatter when he took it off cause its that rusted please help me get this issue fix

My 2011 jeep patriot was purchased new in mid november 2010. It has 42,972 miles on it. I had to replace the tires, one was worn clear down on the inside. The tire supplier said i needed an alignment. When i went in to get an alignment they were unable to do one because my ball joints needed replaced. I've owned this vehicle (my first & last jeep) for 63 1/2 months and driven it less than 677 miles a month or less than 10 miles per day, i should not be replacing my ball joints with these low miles on my car! it is bad enough that i was told not to even drive my car until the parts come in which is going to be another 13 days! please tell me how this is normal wear & tear on a vehicle that has never been off road and has never had the 4 wheel drive engaged longer than to just pull out of slick spot?please make this right and recall the jeeps that are having this issue!

Rust holes in front sub frame

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that upon taking her vehicle to an independent mechanic, the mechanic discovered a significant amount of rust to the sub frame of the vehicle. The mechanic informed her that there might have been a recall on the vehicle for the corrosion. The mechanic also informed her that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the amount of rust on the suspension. The contact then called the dealer and was informed that there was a warranty on the vehicle for the corrosion on the subframe however, the warranty had expired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Took the vehicle into get a wobble in the front end checked. Was told by technician that the ball joints on both side are worn out. He said it was a very common problem due to poor quality components. From reading complaints, it seems to be a very common issue. It it's a safety hazard and should be addressed. I have contacted an attorney and will proceed.

Crossmembers rotted.brackets holding it rotted off.differential rotted.subframe rotted.

The right front lower frame is rusted thus creating a loud friction noise from the right front wheel bearing

Right front tire blew out causing loss of control of vehicle in sharp curve.vehicle struck concrete culvert with left side and flipped at least twice, landing right side up.

When the weather turned cold the tire sensor light came on.i asked at the dealership about it and they said it is so cold out that you lose a bit of pressure and once the weather turns warm the light will turn off.the weather is now in the 50-60 degree range and i just had an oil change with tire pressure checked and the light is still on.i do not want to pay a lot of money to get this fixed because now i think it is a bad sensor.this is very dangerous because if i ignore it and there is a real problem i could get into an accident because of low tire pressure which could result in severe injury or death and that would follow a major lawsuit because we have been dealing with this problem for a few months now and i notice that others have experienced this same problem.please a recall for this problem before someone gets injured.

Continued failure of tire pressure monitoring system in 2011 jeep patriot latitude 4x4.our brand new 2011 jeep patriot latitude 4x4 has experienced continued failure of the tire pressure monitoring system. On four separate occasions it the tpms light has activated indicating a low time pressure issue in the tires. Each time the tire pressure is checked and determined to be correct.we have now taken this jeep to our local dealer, sport durst chrysler dodge jeep, on three separate occasions for this issue. The most recent time we were told that the tpms was set to the incorrect pressure and was set correctly. Despite this, the tpms light has come on once again.i believe that this is an important safety issue as a malfunctioning tpms will result in jeep owners ignoring the light. This could result in complacency when there could, in fact, be a real tire pressure problem that requires attention.

The contact owned a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 45 mph in the rain, the vehicle skid off the road. The vehicle crashed into a tree and landed in a ditch. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained arm, chest, leg, and forehead injuries that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the driver's residence and later towed to an insurance lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Help me

Vehicle stalls and power steering fails after filling gas tank. This happens either immediately, or a few miles away regardless of speed. Vehicle will abruptly and violently buck, then stall minimum of two times.

Faulty irreparable cvt transmission which gave out on me on a notoriously high-traffic freeway. Recurring issue among jeep patriot owners.jeep finally stopped using this faulty transmission in their 2014 models.

Vehicle will stall while in operation and the motor will completely stop and the steering will lock-up.a sensor is being triggered referred to as a "crankshaft position sensor".was told that this sensor needed be replaced as well as the wiring harness that goes to the sensor.jeep is doing nothing about this serous safety issue and is placing the labor and cost of repair on me the "consumer".there appears to be some history of this happening with other various years of this same vehicle and they need to do a recall for all vehicles.my vehicle was being diagnosed for 10 hours and still wasn't repaired because they didn't have the parts to fix the problem.this also happens while the vehicle is idle and randomly won't start on occasion.this has been going on now for several months and affects the rpms, which bounce from around 4,000 to 2,000 and the overall fuel consumption.i have been getting horrible fuel mileage because of this.it also has something to do with the factory installed auto-start, which won't work because of these non-functioning sensors.

When it rains the sun roof leaks inside of the car through the interior light.

Anti-lock braking system light turned on, then the anti-skid light turned on, then vehicle engaged in four wheel drive on its one. Rear passenger side wheel locked up and vehicle swerved to the right off the road.

My catalytic converter is failing and the sensors are coming on. It needs to be replaced ,i am losing power in my vehicle which is dangerous on the highway.i saw on the news that there is a recall for 2011 jeep patriot which i have but my vin number shows its not on the list. How is this possible?

Went to get a sticker and they let me know that it would not pass due to a rusted/corrosive sub frame. Researched online and noticed many complaints of this with many jeep patriots of many years. Why hasn't this been changed or recalls done.

While accelerating to merge onto the interstate, at around 55-60 mph, the engine stalled with no power to accelerate further or exit oncoming traffic.i coasted to the emergency lane off the side on the interstate. After stopping, the vehicle was placed in park and turned off.the first attempt to restart resulted in still no acceleration although engine started.the second attempt to restart was successful and i was able to drive at full speed to the next exit.very frightening.i've never had a vehicle stall on the interstate before.

Takata recall. I was driving my jeep on september 9, 2017 and just stopped accelerating when i was driving. I was pushing the gas and was still decreasing in speed. My jeep stop in the middle of the highway. A police officer and the firefighter had to push my vehicle out of the road so i wouldn't get hit. I was a scary experience for me. Thank god my girls wasn't in the car but my sister and niece were so this issue need to be addressed. My jeep is currently parked in my yard

Takata recall i am pregnant and jeep can not offer me any safety resolution,i could get into a accident and killyself amdy child i feel something needs to be done.also my front and back subfram is totally rusted out and they want to charge me for a whole lot of other things to do something with this. Help please i need to feel safe in my vehicle.

Involved in rear end collision 11/16/18. The vehicle was stationary when hit from the rear at 20-30 mph. Active headrest system deployed on the drivers seat but failed to deploy on the passenger side. The airbag light is not illuminated showing a deployment.

The side curtain airbags both deployed and her seat belt locked although when the seat belt locked is not known. The front air bag did not deploy. This vehicle is involved in an incomplete recall without remedy pertaining to the occupant restraint system dated september 13th 2016. Fca recall s61. Nhtsa recall number 16v-668. ...updated 06/13/17 ...updated 07/11/17 updated 11/1/2017

Vehicle stalled while driving & engine turned completely off. The vehicle was placed in park, the ignition had to be restarted & put back into drive. After that happened, the air conditioning was on & projecting a smokey smell into the car. Another incident that happened multiple times was the car was shaking & brakes were hard to push on while steering was hard as i was turning onto a street from the freeway exit. While in motion, the car will ding as it is turning or going straight or pulling to a stop. As the car was turning right, the steering locked & i couldn't accelerate. I rolled to a stop at the side of the rode & the brakes were hard to push on. These issues have occurred on multiple occasions. The jeep dealership can't find the issue with the car. This car has approximately 50,000 miles. That's about 10,000 miles per year.

Sunroof leaks when it rains.i've had it in for repair at least 4 times.i purchased the vehicle used and we were in a drought, so it took about a year before we had significant rain.when it rains a moderate amount, water pours out of the overhead lights and side panels and soaks the floor boards and front console.the mechanics have been unable to duplicate the issue by running water on the sunroof and/or running the vehicle through the carwash, so they've been unable to figure out how to fix it.a quick internet search reveals that this seems to be a common problem that jeep will not acknowledge.i already have significant water stains on the interior roof of the car, and it's just a matter of time before it shorts out the electronics.step up and fix the known defect, jeep!!

Crankshaft position sensor a faulted on the highway. Unable to turn steering wheel to the right and speed didn't go above 40 mph. Engine shut off during the event as well.

My jeep patriot 2011, was driving perfectly fine, i started it up one saturday afternoon2 weeks 1 day ago, while driving down the street 15 minutes into my drive, the jeep immediately stopped accelerating. The engine light, traction control light, and the other one with squiggly lines and brackets with an exclamation mark, came on 30 seconds after it just stopped accelerating.i had to cautiously turn into a parking lot, and i turned off the car. I looked at the manual, and couldn't find anything about what would be wrong. I then looked at google, and saw that alot of people have had the same issue. I turned the car back on, and tried to drive it, it would not accelerate, and would only go approximately 5km/h at best. So i had to have a tow truck come pick up my jeep and take it to a shop. I have now had 3 shops take a look at it. The first shop replaced the tcm(transmission control module), and said it would fix it. When the part came in and it was put into the jeep. It didn't fix it. Same issues, absolitely no help. They took another look at it, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Costing me 1000.00 for the part, and their labour. Then i towed it to 2 other shops. They couldn't figure out what's was wrong with it either. Costing me 500$ at both places with no help, and my jeep still currently will not run!!! i am without a car. My jeep only has 80,000 km on it!!! and i still owe 3.5 years worth of payments on it! but it cannot be fixed!!!??? no one can figure out what is wrong with it!!! not even a jeep/dodge chrysler dealership services center!!!

Water was found leaking from the overhead reading lamps and down onto the dash/radio. It has stained the headliner and leaves potential for other water damage and mold.

I have had my car stall on the highway at a high speed and also at low speed at least 7 times since i have owned it. I have contacted a jeep dealer and also jeep customer service. They will not fix under a recall. I have researched this problem a lot and it has happened several times to several people.

Crossbar is rusting through.i was told the repair was covered under the x69 extended warranty, but it would still cost me $975 for the repair

Requested a total of $5,102.35 for diagnosis and repairs for a well-documented faulty cvt transmission which started failing after around 90k miles, despite taking excellent care of the vehicle.

1complaint number: 10412080incident date: june 18, 2011date added to file: july 12, 2011description of the complaint:while traveling on a freeway with cruise control activated, my instrument panel lit up and my car lost all power. At the time, i had 7500 miles on my car. I had the same problem this week. My car stalled in the middle of an intersection and would not restart. Again, service department is unable to duplicate this issue.2complaint number: 10410937incident date: july 6, 2011date added to file: july 7, 2011description of the complaint:the contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. While driving down our driveway to the main road the electronic stability indicatorand the electronic throttle control lights came on.i turned the ignition off and back on then went to the bottom of the road to get on the freeway when the lights came back on and the car went to a limp mode.i had no throttle to get on the freeway and limped back home. Our mechanic could not get the scanner to duplicate the lights..since this happened once before, he recommended replacing the throttle body part#4891735ac due to high rate failure at a cost of $533 parts and labor to us.after reading of many complaints we feel this part should be recalled for the safety of occupants before someone gets seriously injured.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the cruise control activation light would not illuminate when utilizing the cruise control function. Contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the cruise control would not disengage when cancelled. The contact would have to shut the engine off completely in order to deactivate the cruise control function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times for the failure. The dealer stated that the vehicle was repaired but did not provide the contact with the exact repairs. The manufacturer was notified who was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The contact had experienced the same failure four times. The failure was not remedied.the failure mileage was 1,500 and the current mileage was 16,000.

While driving all of a sudden the car acts like it is dying for a short period of time and the following lights come on.the traction control, abs, and 4wd lights.the car clears up in a matter of seconds and runs allright after that.however in certain circumstances this could cause a fatal accident.where i was it didn't matter but if you were in traffic or pulling out in front of a vehicle and didn't have much time, it could matter very much.all 4 of the wheel sensors have gone bad and now i'm on the 5th one.they are not all the same and not everytime do they cause a hesitation but sometimes they do and twice the car almost went dead.this is an accident waiting to happen and should be corrected.

I was excallerating from a stop at a red light that had just turned green when half way through the intersection my jeep stauled. The two vehicles behind me rear ended each other. I slowly rolled to my right . The etc (lighting bolt symbol) and engine light came on. I repeated the process of trying to start and drive a few feet at a time and remove battery terminals and clean them. The rpm would drop very fast and engine would cut out while in motion . This was on very busy rural streets. It seem to happen during ecceleration. I managed the to make it home by driving very slow and trying to keep rpms as low as possible. At times the engine would not start until i disconnected the battery then reconnected. Have a new battery, pcv valve, and same issues. I believe the throttle body assemblies on these vehicles are faulty and suffer from engineering design and weak internal parts.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated the accelerator pedal on the vehicle snapped. The vehicle started to slow down and he did not realize that the accelerator pedal broke.the contact stopped the vehicle and noticed that theaccelerator pedal was broken. The broken pedal had approximately an inch of the stem connected to the vehicle. The vehicle was notinspected. The contact was concerned that the failure was a severe safety hazard, because the accelerator was made out of plastic. The failure and current mileagewas 7,100.updated 9/13/11 updated 2/21/12...updated 10/03/12 the consumer the stated the dealer was made aware of the failed and the vehicle was repaired. The same type of pedal arm was used to repair the vehicle as before. Updated 10/09/2012

I live in wi and i have all my life.in february, here in wi, no doubt it's been cold.my windshield was fine that night.in the morning, my windshield and top of the jeep was covered in snow.so as usual, when it's cold, i went to start my jeep and let it heat up, as usual i put on defrost and went back into the house.i came back outside about 10 mins later to scrape off the snow, went back in got my son, we got into the jeep, ready to go and we noticed (i do have pictures) i had a crack at the bottom of the windshield that ran from the passenger side, horizontal to driverside.i took it in and was told it looked like a common crack due to the cold.okay, fine, i live in wi, it's cold, but i have had beaters of cars until i was out of college and i never once have had a windshield break due to the cold.i read another complaint on this web site were the back windshield just blew out.my insurance will cover, but it has a deductible and i feel chrysler should cover it and i also feel they should but a little quality for safety purposes into the vehicles they are making.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the molding around the windshield was fractured. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the molding needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 6,000.

Rear window exploded when door was shut.

Sunroof leaks after snowfall; as it melts, water collects in the dome light and pours out like a waterfall while driving.no electrical issues yet, but two occurrences so far.

Anti-lock braking system light turned on, then the anti-skid light turned on, then vehicle engaged in four wheel drive on its one. Rear passenger side wheel locked up and vehicle swerved to the right off the road.

Right front tire blew out causing loss of control of vehicle in sharp curve.vehicle struck concrete culvert with left side and flipped at least twice, landing right side up.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the tire pressure sensor (tps) failed. The tps warning light continued to illuminate on the instrument panel and the contact had to continuously add air to the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection who stated that the tires were not included under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 5,000.

Takata recall: i had a repair done to my jeep patriot two weeks ago. The repairs were over 800$. I had to have the two front control arms, ball joints, and tie rods replaced. As i was driving to work, i lost steering and now not able to drive my vehicle.

The steering wheel constantly needs to be held at an angle for the vehicle to go straight. I've taken the jeep to the shop three times and the problem always comes back.
