I was informed about the latest recall for the orc (16v-668) last october and it is almost the end of june with no word on when to expect replacement parts. The notice mentioned parts may be available starting in june 2017. I feel that this shorting condition that may cause my airbags to not deploy is a major safety concern and a remedy should have been available by now. In the meantime, i'm driving around in this vehicle and risking my life doing so. This matter is not being remedied in a timely manner. I am very upset with fca on how this is being handled.

Manufacturer recall numbers 61nhtsa recall number 16v-668recall status recall incomplete.i have been aware of this recall for over 12 months with no availability for resolution.my local dealership stated that they do not have any replacement parts in spite of the extended duration of time that has past.please note this safety complaint is being made due to the ongoing and unreasonable time frame i am experiencing.i don't feel safe to have my wife in the car due to this recall.my airbag light has been on for over a year and i have no way to resolve this issue.please inform me of how i can follow up on my complain.[xxx][xxx][xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

My air bag light came on while driving. I took to jeep delearship and was told that even after the repair, there is no guarantee that the airbag would deploy. They preformed the repair but the air bag light is still on.they said i would have to pay for some rewiring in the driver seat which would cost about $300. I am concerned that the airbag will just deploy spontaneously or not deploy in a collision.will you please advise me what is suppose to happen after this recall and what i should expect.thanks.

I have a 2010 jeep patriot and it has been having random issues that it turns out are related to a failed tipm which chrysler knows about and is not addressing.my horn randomly honks, the airbags did not deploy in a recent small accident, and now the car won't start.all of these items are noted as related to a failing tipm and all can be found all over the internet when searching for "2010 jeep patriot won't start".based on the most recent problem (no starting), i replaced the battery and the starter with no fix.jeep should have to fix this if they have known about it and the potentially dangerous implications.right now the car is parked in my driveway because i had to get it towed home.

Jeep has failed to fix the issue with recallnhtsa recall number:16v-668 manufacturer recall number: s61recall date: october 1, 2016i drive my children in this car, i would like to think we are protected by the seat belts and air bags.

Ive been waiting an unreasonable length of time (8.5 months) for jeep to make a occupant restraint control module for my car. I'm trying to use my car for employment (uber, lfyt, delivery driving) but unable to because i keep failing an inspection because there is a sensor light that shows up on my dash board. I can't wait till august, i would like to return my car back to the dealership for a functioning car please. I have bills and can't afford to wait any longer.

Takata recall my car is been having this problems almos 7 years the first one was the start engine, second one was the air bag light, thirt one the air conditions, sometime when i'm driving it just turn off, while i am driving it starts to whistle or during the night it just sounds very long lime someone is just passing it.when i went to the dealer they didn't do anything about it and want me to pay just for inspection no to solve the problem

Noticing a recall before, i'm concerned with my airbag light being on. Can it still be defected.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the driver's side air bag warning indicator illuminated when the vehicle was started. The contact had to wait approximately four seconds to turn the vehicle off and back on in order for the driver's side air bag indicator to turn off. The vehicle was taken to carl burger chrysler jeep dodge ram world (8355 hercules st, la mesa, ca 91942) where it was diagnosed that the clockspring for the driver's air bag failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

My electronic throttle control indicator light came on and my car startedjerking, slowing and i lost the ability to accelerate. This would have been avery dangerous situation if i had been on the interstate.

We have had several incidents with this vehicle since a routine service and unknown recall was performed in august of 2013.using only authorized jeep dealers to evaluate there seemed to be no problem with the vehicle.my daughter was routinely driving this vehicle and it burst into flames and with the assistance of 3 fire trucks and 3 sheriff cars the flames were extinguished.fortunately she is not injured but the car is totaled.in my opinion, this is a highly unusual situation and my suspicions is that something is wrong with this vehicle.i hope that some one else does not have to experience this traumai wish that i could send a picture with this reply.the car is at a jeep dealer in saint augistine florida.

The fan on the heater quit working and smoke came fr poo m around the three knobs for the heater and air conditioner. This has happened twice. I just replaced it again last week.

Gas tank cannot be filled up all the way as the car stalls and turns off in less then a mile. The car has no acceleration more then 20mhp and takes a long time in gaining speed when trying to take off after a stop and when changing lanes. Car lacks power when driving on highways, creating traffic and panic in the driver. Car is a hazard on the road and mechanics are aware but no one seems to find the issue and correct.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the horn activated independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the total integrated power module needed the be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,499.

While driving, loss of power.was driving 60 mph, lostpower and car would not accelerate, but rpms would hit 6k. Had to change altenator.with brand new altenator i got 90 miles . Then car would only hit 20 mph , and rpms would hit 6k with no acceleration.pull over and sit 5 minutes then car would accelerate normal. But the problem happens everytime i start car and go to drive.have read that the has been an ecu and other issues and recalls for it with many others complaining.i was on highway. There seems to be an issue with the radio as it with thevehicle turned off and no key in ignition, the stereo makes noise like it's trying to work. Feel veryvunsage and it seems to be a manufacturing issue as the vehicleonly has 90k miles .

I stopped at a convenient store on my way home from work prior to this my radio continue to turn off and on.when i went to start my jeep back up it would not start and was smoking.i had it pulled to the dealership the next day and they told me that the starter wire had caught afire and fried the starter and possible the fuse box. Had i not stopped and continue to drive the other 15 miles home i would probably be dead.the car would have stalled on the highway in a construction zone where there would have been no place for me to pull off the highway and with no light any other car traveling the highway could have hit me and with me at a standstill and the speed limit 50 in the construction area i would possibly been killed or hurt severely.there was no warning just that the radio would cut off and on.

The sunroof leaks into the headliner while parked or in motion, the water eventually finds its way into the front dome light which then precedes to leak all over the radio and climate control knobs. This has happened multiple times to my vehicle and seems to be a nation wide problem with patriots in most model years. The most recent episode ruined my radio and i'm afraid to install another because this will eventually happen again and again.

The sunroof on the 2010 jeep patriot does not seal against the exterior of the vehicle allowing more water into the cabin then the two drains can handle. The drains clog easily due to the excess water making the issue even worse. Water enters the car as the sunroof water pan fills up and leaks out of the cabin dome light and down the sides of the car. Water then enters electrical components behind the dash resulting in radio failure, shorting multiple components that prevent the car from turning off without removing the iod fuse, and causing the engine water temperature to peg. Dealerships have tried multiple solutions even when the vehicle was under warranty, but the issue remains and they have begun to claim it it a drain maintenance issue and not a manufacturing defect.

My daughter called and said all of her lights were out both inside and outside jeep. Windshield wipers did not work. Basically everything stopped working. She was able to start it and i told her to take it to the jeep dealer in christianburg va. They checked it out and told her the control arm for the signals lights was broken but could not get a new one until monday, this was friday night. I told her to come home very slowly because it was raining. She made it home safely, i checked several jeep forums and found out if you disconnect the battery and let the computer reboot it would fix the problem. Sure enough it did and saved me hundreds of dollars.everyone should know this to keep from getting into trouble on the hwy. I have questioned the dealer in richmond about but they say they have never heard anything about it. The problem is there and some people know because they told me how to solve the issue.please let everyone know about this issue both for safety and wasted money at a dealer.

Tire air fill valve stem corroded due to road salt. Common issue on jeep forums. The alloy metal just evaporates over time and snaps off when adding air or washing the rims but have heard of them coming apart driving down the road. Seems to occur just below the valve cap edge. Switched to rubber valve stems but lost auto tire air pressure monitor.

I was driving my car from work and the tire pressure light came on and was unsteady, the red light also came on but i did not stop. Upon arriving home there was beeping sounds but i had my key and lights off. I proceeded to the house and the following morning the car wont start, tried jump starting to no avail. Contacted jeep dealership and the said it was wireless ignition module and a new key needed. I have also seen hundreds of other drivers complaining of the same issue.two days ago the car could not engage gear and was left shaking and after shifting to a lower gear it gained control.

Clock spring is bad. Same model that's under recall on the wrangler. First problem noticed was when using turn signal, radio display would dim. Second problem was that the air bag light came on. Air bag light sometimes goes off while turning steering wheel.

My daughter called from college to tell me her turn signals head lights dash lights and wipers had all stopped working. She took it to the local jeep dealer who told her it was the turn signal switch and could not work on it until the following monday. She had to come home in the rain, drive 250 miles with out turn signals, lights or wipers. This is a real problem that the jeep needs to address and fix it. I started looking on line at some jeep forums and found some things to try. The first one i tried got everything working for now still do not know what caused the original issues though and jeep is not going to admit to anything. All i did was unhook the positive cable to the battery and reset the on board control system for the jeep. Please pass this info on it really helped my daughter and saved a fortune in unnecessary parts and work from the dealer.

Abs light, traction control light come on intermittently. Took to dealer, replaced abs module and pump cost of $!,185.00 took more than 10 days to repair. Many such safety issues just like this listed on computer forums

The fan on the heater quit working and smoke came fr poo m around the three knobs for the heater and air conditioner. This has happened twice. I just replaced it again last week.

I bought this car with these safety issues, there is sold as is condition, but after having the oil pan and gaskets replaced, we were informed that the car alsohas other safety issues, for instance,it needs a catiltic converters that failedinspection, and steering equipment unsafe to endure a safe driving conditions.these conditions were fond by a certified mechanic, during theinitial service.

My patriot stalled on the freeway. This was the second time this has happened. I took it to the mechanic where they said this could have been from a faulty gas gauge and i was out of gasoline. I do not think this was the case.

My 2010 patriot limited stalls all the time. It gets worse while sitting at a red light.i have to put the car in neutral, rev up the engine so it does not go dead.it seems to get worse if the gas tank is below 1/2 tank.also i really thought someone was stealing my gas because the gauge goes up and down.all the info i have looked up it's all jeep products 2010 2011 2012 2013 all have the same problems.

The vehicle will continuously stall and buck while idling for about one minute after filling up with fuel. This has occasionally happened on the road while the vehicle is in motion immediately after leaving the gas station. In these cases, the driver is put in a very dangerous situations, as the steering wheel locks-up when the car stalls. The car is never "topped-off" but filled until the first pump click. After about a minute, the problem will resolve and the vehicle will run fine until the next fueling. The exact cause is unknown, but the evap system or fuel tank rollover-valve is suspected as the culprit.this is an extremely dangerous problem that many other jeep patriot owners experience and needs to be dealt with.

Since i bought my keep in july 2020 .. Everytime i've filled my gas tank all the way ..at first my jeep would do a little jumping on regular stree as i drive towards freeway but after a little bit it would go away .. But as i continue to drive for about 15 min on freeway my jeep begins to make this whining sound and then my jeep would accelerate above 5 on its own (scary) then would go back to normal this usually was while going up a hill on freeway .. Whining cont. And accelerating may happen once more while going up the hill .. Then my transmission temp light will come on . I usually pull over to let my car rest because i'm scared to drive it after it had a mind of it's own. This has only happened after i fill my tank to the full .please fix this i'm afraid it will blow my engine while on freeway ! three times this has happened after a full tank has been applied . So step by step i fill tank to full as i drive on street towards freeway it will jump a little but will go away by time i get on freeway once on freeway car seems fine for about 10 -15 min then i start to hear a whining sound almost as if it's stuck in a gear .. As i'm driving up a hill on freeway the whining gets worse and my rpms don't seem to go above 50 then my my engine will just accelerate on its own all the way passed 5 .. Then return to normal quickly after .. Whining noise cont. As i'm still driving about 10 min later my transmission temp light will come on . That's when i get off freeway and pull over to let my car rest for a little bit .. Once i get back on freeway after 10 min rest everything is back to normal no mor whining and temp light is gone .. This is an issue after filling up my tank to the full!

Automatic transaxle overheating.very dangerous to happen specially if you are in the freeway.i believe that they make this model thinking that drivers will consider not to accelerate speed in a hot climate.car is at 75 mph in the freeway on a hot climate of 80f.

Engine stalled while driving 45mph on a city street in normal weather conditions.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while approaching to stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not provided.

Jeep seems to get revved up and gets stuck there, and i can't seem to stop it short off shutting it down. Last time this happened was on 10/8/12 as i was getting on freeway. I was not going more than 30 miles an hour when all of a sudden it revved up to about 5. However, when i took foot off gas it did not go down, even after tapping brake. Also, even after giving gas again, could barely get it to move so i could get to side of road,(thank goodness nobody was behind me) as i coasted over and shut it down right there, after restarting it was fine. My mom and sister were with me and can verify what happened. This has actually happened a couple of times before, but never when entering freeway! the first time it happened was 2010 and i called dealer right after incident,(actually shut jeep off and called right away), don't think they believed me. Jeep also feels like it is going to stall (more often this year), especially at lights, have to give it gas while waiting. I mentioned this also at last oil change at dealer, nobody seems to think there is a problem. After hearing about incidents with 2011 and 2012 models i thought i should document mine as may be same problem.

I have a 2010 jeep patriot sport with 50000 miles on it.i also had the dealership install an auto start for winter months to warm up car.i drove the car on dec 7 for 10 miles traveling at a speed of 40.i stopped home for 15 minutes and when i restarted my car a red flashing lightning bolt lit up on my dash which was the throttle accompanied by the off road traction control.i backed out the car and it was shaking and loud.i decided to drive another vehicle a few days later i drove it to the dealership taking the backroads and it would not go over 20 mph and shook frequently.i was concerned for my safety. I have a lifetime powertrain engine warranty and thomas dodge dealership in highland, in is not covering under warranty.they state the throttle is not a component of the engine or power train.the cost of repair is $690. I was wondering if any recalls exist on the chrysler, dodge and jeeps in regards to throttle body assembly and to consider my model, make and year.

I was driving over to my parents house and my dad noticed a smell of plastic burning when i arrived.he lifted the hood and the air inlet duct was not properly positioned and had moved over and was laying on the manifold.he noticed 1 of the 2 screws used to hold the duct in position was missing.he pulled the duct part off and noticed a hole in the underside where it had laid on the manifold and heated up melting the plastic housing.he covered up the hole with duct tape and relocated it to the proper position.he repositioned it and secured the part with zip-ties.

While driving around 40 mph on the highway the jeep slowed down and stalled. No warnings or indicator lights came on at that time.shut jeep down and restarted waiting a few seconds before accelerating.at the time of accelerating jeep stuttered a bit and then drove from 5 mph to 20 mph without encouragement from gas petal.immediately applied the break and car stalled again.again restarted the car to move off of highway and the throttle indicator light finally came on.no indications before stalls happened that there was a problem.had to have the full body throttle and fuel injector replaced for 1500.00/2 day repair. 2010 jeep has 86,000 miles on it.very concerned that there was no warning, light, or change in driving before stalling with kids in the car on the highway.it could have been a deadly accident had i not been driving at 7 am with no traffic on the road.

I stopped at a convenient store on my way home from work prior to this my radio continue to turn off and on.when i went to start my jeep back up it would not start and was smoking.i had it pulled to the dealership the next day and they told me that the starter wire had caught afire and fried the starter and possible the fuse box. Driving on the interstate and auto suddenly lost power although engine was still running it would just idle, even with the gas pedal all the way to the floor, turned auto off and let it set for a few minutes and when it restarted it appeared to be ok, would take gas, then on 3-19-2015 this happened 3 different times within a 150 miles on the interstate, would have to unhook the battery and reconnect it before the problem would clear up, then drive it just a bit more and it would happen again.

My jeep patriot 2010 turned on the head lights on without me to doing it and turned the lights off when driving.

My daughter called from college to tell me her turn signals head lights dash lights and wipers had all stopped working. Every time i feel my gas tank up and drive away, my vehicle bucks and then steering freezes up and my jeep stalls. This is very scary and has gotten worse. Especially getting gas off the freeway and going on the freeway! this has been happening for about a year and has gotten worse!!!

When trying to fill the gas tank in a stopped position with the vehicle turned off, the hose continually shuts off as if the tank is full when it is not.prior to this issue, the car would sometimes shutter and feel like it was going to stall out after filling the tank.

My jeep stalls after filling tank with gas and i believe it is a faulty valve inside the tank itself which requires replacement of the entire tank and should be a recall--this is a safety issue as it causes the vehicle to stall while driving away from gas station. Saw this alert for 2012 models but it is the same issue https://autoweek.com/article/car-news/2012-jeep-compass-and-patriot-be-recalled-fuel-tank-problem#ixzz5sdmm78oj

When i fill the gas tank all the way, the jeep stalls shortly afterward. That turns off the power steering. It's very dangerous. Potentially deadly if it happens while cornering at higher speeds. Forums online are saying that it's a manufacturer flaw in the rollover valve inside the gas tank, and that the only way to fix it, is to replace the tank. That is a very expensive repair. The forums indicate that it is becoming a very common problem. I feel that jeep should issue a recall on this dangerous factory flaw and pay for the repairs.

After fueling the car, the engine stalls and the car stops frequently.in traffic and causing a serious hazard to me, my passengers and the other drivers in the area.the car would sputter and stall at stop signs and lights, when stopped, when slowing (under 40 mph) and when accelerating from a slow down or stop.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. After filling the fuel tank, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to taylor automotive (11989 hwy 22, martin, tn) where they replaced the fuel cap and parts related to the fuel system, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 110,000. The vin was invalid.

Fuel spews out every time i try to put gas in the vehicle. I am only able to put 20 or 30 cents in at a time. This started on 11/01/16 to present time and happens every time i try to put fuel in tank.

Every time i fillup my jeep i get within 1 mile of gas station it begins to stall. This happened everytime i fill up for the past 5 years. The jeep will just shutoff and the power steering stops working being that it stalled. This has almost caused me to crash many times and to get the problem fixed jeep dealership said i would have to replace the entire gas tank. Doing some research lots of people are complaining about this happening to them and being very costly to fix. The item that needs to be fixed is the (fuel tank rollover valve) jeep doesn't make a replacement part for this and that is why you have to replace the entire fuel tank. Below is a website about the problemhttps://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/gas-fill-pump-pump-shutting-off-while-filling-1447396/

Stuck rollover valve. 86,000 miles. Rollover valve is inside gas tank, casuing replacement of entire tank. Many others online note same problem for the patriot. Jeep recalled other models for the same problem but not the patriot.

Adding fuel to vehicle tank results in fuel gushing out of fuel filler pipe. It appears the fuel tank cannot vent the air in the tank as new fuel is added and this forces newly added fuel back out of the filler pipe. This is a very dangerous and common problem regarding faulty rollover valves on the fuel tank on several jeep models/years according to online forums .

The car stalls after filling up the tank. Has happened several times.

After filling up with gas car stumbles and dies at stops for about five minutes minutes afterwards. This procedure goes on for about ten miles all i read says it is a safety valve on top off gas tank. Only way to fix is relace the whole gas tank. This happens when vehicle is in motion or just setting idleling. Rpm starts to decreace and smothers plum out. I purchased this vehicle used it has done this ever since ive owned it.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. After the contact refilled the fuel tank, the vehicle suddenly shut off while accelerating. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74,000.

Can not put fuel into the gas tank.the pump shuts off every few seconds due to back pressure.a mechanic checked the system and said the problem was a stuck roll over valve inside the fuel tank and the entire gas tank would have to be replaced at a cost of $1400.when this happens, gas splashes out onto car and anyone trying to fill the tank.spilling gasoline on the outside of the car an myself is a safety hazard!

Gas tank roll over valve:there seems to be a defective component at the top of the gas tank which is causing the vehicle to stall at least once after filling up the gas tank.this is a safety issue and should be recalled as it affects a lot of vehicles based on my searches.

Everytime i fill up gas to full, the engine stalls on the road for couple times.

Every time that i fill the fuel tank, my jeep stalls one to three times withinthe first couple miles.this can happen at a stop light, driving out of a parking lot, or while making a low speed turn.i haven't been involved in an accident due to this issue yet, but there have been close calls to date.i took my vehicle to a mechanic to get the issue diagnosed and i was informed that it is due to a faulty roll over valve located on top of the fuel tank.the only way to correct the issue is to replace the fuel tank which is very costly.

Since february 5th, 2018, my 2010 patriot has been in the shop 3 times for stalling issues, all seemingly after filling my gas tank.the stalling happens within moments after driving away from the gas pump, and my vehicle needs to be towed each time, costing me every time. Various 'fixes' have been made, including new spark plugs, transmission fuel change and most recently, a esim and detector. The latest mechanic at the jeep dealer that repairs my vehicle said the issue was from gasoline getting into the esim and causing a safety stall. From others i have read from, this issue is very common and needs to be fixed permanently and correct for owners, in prevention of injury or death. Some i have read from mention the rollover valve in the gas tank needs replacement, which would therefor require the entire gas tank to need replacement, a hefty price for something that seems to be the error on chryslers' behalf. I no longer feel safe to go on long trips with my vehicle, which i purchased pre owned just last year. Please take action on this issue as i know many owners are suffering from the same issue that can be dangerous.

Vehicle stalls on idle after filling up the tank. Doesn't stall when in motion. The problem usually occurs a few miles after filling up the tank; on a stop light, stop sign, etc. It is intermittent and mostly happens after refueling.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the transmission overheated and the gear shifter could not be moved to shift gears. The transmission overheating warning light illuminated as the failure occurred. The failure was recurring. The dealer performed a diagnostic which was unable to locate a failure code. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.

I purchased this vehicle in 2014 from thoroughbred nissan in tucson, az a few months after purchase the transmission was replaced under warranty.now three years later the transmission is again slipping and has already caused stalls on the highway.one of the times the jeep stalled just as i switched lanes in front of a semi on an interstate highway ,i was barely able to pull the car over and out of the path of the truck right before the car completely shut off.i have taken the vehicle to a dealer in california where i now reside and they have informed me i have to replace the transmission and there is no longer no warranty.i have also taken the jeep to two other places that specialize on transmission and they have both informed me that the transmission utilized in this type of jeep has many problems and that they would recommend i buy a new car all together as i am likely to experience similar problems in about 2-3 years if i choose to have the transmission replaced, even if i continue to maintain it properly as i have been.this jeep is only 7 years old and is already in need of it's third transmission. I have researched complaints on this vehicle and transmission failure seems to be common in these type of cars. It is extremely dangerous to keep allowing these cars to operate with the current faulty transmissions especially because they start to stall with no warning.i had an extremely close call and would hate for anyone to stall out without notice going full speed on a highway.my car stalled many times before any light came on, and dealers aren't even willing to replace a transmission with such light.please i urge you to review this problem and find a solution.this problem first surfaced in the fall of 2016 and the problem continues. I rarely drive this car due to this.i have researched options and feel the manufacturer should take responsibility.

Automatic transaxle overheating.very dangerous to happen specially if you are in the freeway.i believe that they make this model thinking that drivers will consider not to accelerate speed in a hot climate.car is at 75 mph in the freeway on a hot climate of 80f.

When braking, the jeep seems to loose rear control features.the same often occurs when slowly accelerating.it has "shifted" from one side to the other at times when general straight road driving occurs.speeds have never exceeded 30 mph.braking loss of rear control occurs at speeds never exceeding 5 miles an hour

My sister was driving my vehicle. She felt car wheels pulling to one side. Vehicle began to veer out of control where she tried to stablize. Picture taken after accident shows that bottom frame of vehicle became unattached from vehicle. The vehicle did not hit another vehicle or anything else solid. The vehicle was in motion on two way street where the vehicle was keeping straight with no turns.

2010 jeep with 65,000 miles has "ticking" noise coming from differential.dealer states that the transmission has to be replaced.although it is below the 100,000 mile warranty, it is just over the 5 year limit and is no longer covered by the warranty.while it was still under the warranty, the dealer said there was no problem with the transmission and simply changed the fluid and filter.now i have to pay!

My 2010 jeep patriot was purchased at jeep, dodge, chrysler dealership in jax fl off blanding blvd. I have had my vehicle since may 2018 and have not been able to drive it in almost 3 months due to transmission that is to costly to fix. It broke down in august 2018, got it fixed in october 31st 2018 and it broke down on me again on november 3rd 2018. I don't understand why there has not been a recall on these vehicles because all the reports i read on them are complaints about these cvt transmissions that's in them. I got another transmission and it's doing the same thing.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle started to shake violently. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to call nhtsa to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 68,000.

While driving on i-75 in june 2014the jeeps temp. Light went on regarding the transmission was overheating and started to slow down.i pulled off the and was lucky to find a jeep dealer. I explained what happened, and the dealer checked the trans fluid and said it was fine he also said it was the heat from the highway and the outside temp was 90 degrees. We continued and the car ran fine after that.the same thing happened on sunday sept 21 2014 driving through pa. On i-80 the light went on and slowed down the outside temp. Was about 72 degrees and i was going about 70 mph. , i had to go on the soft shoulder and wait.i shut the engine of a waited about 15 min.i started the car the light went off and we drove to clarion pa. To a motel.next day we left the motel and drove to il. The light never went on again.i believe this is a major problem due to the fact that the jeep automatically slowed down in heavy high speed traffic. It put me in a dangerous position.even in the manual it states that this can happen and the jeep will downshift to protect the transmission.. Page 367- 6 andi was not towing.i feel jeep has to recall and correct this problem before someone gets into and accident and killed...

Transmission started with a whining sound, then the check engine light came on, the suv then began to sputter, then it stopped accelerating on the interstate. I pulled off to the side to restart my vehicle and it ran fine for a few miles and began to do this again. Something with the cvt transmission. Going to cost a fortune to fix. Chrysler should be responsible. This is a dangerous glitch in their vehicles.

Back in june while driving to florida from illinois i was going about 70 mph. In georgia while on i-75 the little red transmission caution light appeared and my 2010 jeep began to slow down and scared the hell out of me.i got off the next exit and was lucky to find a jeep dealer near the exit.the dealer took me right in and checked the transmission fluid and it was fine. She never charged me and we went on our way. Drove to miami and back to illinois a week later with no problem.2 weeks ago i drove to nyc and on my way back to illinois on i-80 the light went on again with no exit in sight, again the jeep slowed i pulled on the shoulder.shut the engine off waited 15 min then started to drive again no problem. My main concern is why this happened? and its not a safe feature this slowing down of the jeep can cause an accident.. Also why the jeep book states on page 367 (see attached) that this can occur when the transmission gets too hot. I was not towing in either case..this jeep needs to be recalled for my safety..

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and leaked transmission fluid with the illumination of the transmission warning light. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

While driving on a highway i noticed a whining noise and losing power going up a hill i was able to get home and to my mechanic. After checking the transmission he found metal filings in it and said i needed a new transmission. I was very disappointed in hearing this as the jeep only has about 68000 miles on it. I contacted the jeep dealer in scranton pa and was told that the vehicle was out of warranty. I contacted different transmission garages and was quoted prices from over $3000 to $6000. Reading about other peoples problems with jeep vehicles this seems like a big ongoing problem with jeep transmissions.i hope your agency can help us out so we can get some satisfaction from jeep.

We have 2 vehicles under recall s61/nhtsa 16v-668 dated 10/01/16 and still noremedy.this recall puts our lives in jeep's hands every time we drive our cars.the other patriot under this recall was hit by a deer while driving and the airbags did not deploy.luckily, that time we were not injured, but what about next time?

This complaint is about the safety recall being identified, but no parts ever available.recall date was september 13, 2016, and we are about to enter august 2017.

Still no remedy for this recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! our other car is on the same recall!!!!!!!!!! we hit a deer & the airbags did not deploy

Jeep has failed to fix the issue with recallnhtsa recall number:16v-668 manufacturer recall number: s61recall date: october 1, 2016i drive my children in this car, i would like to think we are protected by the seat belts and air bags.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact's vehicle crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. The front end of the contact's vehicle sustained significant damage; however, the air bags did not deploy. Also, the front passenger seat belt failed to secure the occupant, causing the passenger to make contact with the dashboard. The passenger sustained neck and torso injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously service per nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags). The failure mileage was 110,000.

The headrest mechanism popped out while i was driving and there was no accidents. It was in the passenger side headrest that did this. I heard a loud pop while i was driving and it scared me. I will be calling chrysler tomorrow regarding this but i have been told it won't be covered under warranty. This is a problem from the manufacturer of this just can happen without an accident.

The headrests in the 2010 jeep patriot are of inferior quality and may put owners at risk of serious injury or death. A cheap piece of plastic or metal inside of my driver's side headrest recently broke. As a result, the headrest merely hangs and cannot be adjusted. On 8/6/13, i was informed by a service advisor at rairdon dodge chrysler jeep (kirkland, wa), that the broken part could not be repaired or replaced and that the cost of replacing the headrest would be $498. I believe this to be entirely unreasonable, for the following reasons:1. A defective part or a part of very poor quality was used in the headrest2. The poor design of the headrest does not permit this inexpensive part to be repaired or replaced without replacing many more expensive, electronic parts3. Jeep patriots with problem headrests are almost certainly less safe, given the fact that the brakes and/or airbags may fail to work properly (due to malfunctioning sensors inside of the headrest; they may not function properly, as a result of the headrest not maintaining a proper position)4. The cost of replacing the headrest (which cannot be repaired) is prohibitively expensive and may even constitute an illegal form of financial exploitationi hope that the nhtsa will consider issuing a formal recall for the headrests in the 2010 jeep patriot and/or order rairdon dodge chrysler jeep to replace the headrests on my vehicle at little or no cost.

Abs light, traction control light come on intermittently. Took to dealer, replaced abs module and pump cost of $!,185.00 took more than 10 days to repair. Many such safety issues just like this listed on computer forums

The steering wheel locked up while the vehicle was in motion at approximately 45 mph. I was driving on a back country road and slightly turned the wheel to follow the curve in the road when the wheel locked up. Fortunately, i was sharing the road with just a few other drivers, it was a slight bend in the road, and i was able to use the breaks. After i came to a complete stop, i had to utilize great force to turn the locked steering wheel. It seemed like that maybe loosened it up some but not quite all the way??? then, i turned the vehicle off for a few minutes, restarted it, and then it seemed to be ok. After being inspected by a mechanic, i was told that they could not find anything that would have caused an issue for this to have happen. They said that further disassembling could possibly locate a problem. This is extremely concerning and hazardous! i'm not sure if others have had this issue as well but it should absolutely be looked into!

Mechanic inspected as part of potentially buying the vehicle. I had expressed concern over how it was driving. Ball joint is bad. I researched online and saw a lot of issues with this and was hoping that a safety recall was in place for it! (i did find a warranty extension for the subframe, and it is still good -- so it might be worth buying if safety issues are fixed.)

Bought a used 2010 jeep patriot a month and a half ago with less than 20,000 miles on it and no apparent problems. Drove my car on december 29th after coming back from christmas vacation and was greeted by a waterfall coming out of my map light. After stopping, also discovered a lake of water behind the drivers seat. Since i discovered this late in the day that saturday, and the new year's holiday was the beginning of the week, i couldn't get my car into the dealership for service until thursday. In the mean time, it rained again and i had yet another water disaster to deal with.

Within 7 years in a rust belt state the jeeps crossmember is so rusted its no longer safe to drive. My jeep has been sitting parked for two years because i don't have the money to repare this horrible rust damage, only to find out there has been an extended warranty for this since 2017, i was not informed because its not a recall.. This was known by chester/jeep since the 2007 model, i'm glad they at least offer a 10 year extended warranty for the crossmemeber, however thats not good enough. People need to be made aware that their vehicle may snap in half with little or no warning to the average driver. This is just as serious as a seat belt or airbag malfunction and yet this isn't a recall? this should be a recall. The american people have a right to know their vehicle is not safe, a recall is the only way that information will spread fast and far enough to matter and possibly save lives, not just a few dollars.

I have bought a 2010 jeep liberty and now noticed that the suspension crossmembers are rotting out and there is a hole in the front crossmember. I researched and found out this was an issue with the patriot, compass, and a dodge caliber. Yet there was never a recall.

There has already been a tba service bulletion on this vehicle. It has to do with the front and rear subframes. I just bought this vehicle a couple months ago . The old owner never replaced themso now it's so rusted out that the toe can't b adjusted and the tires are pointing inward horribly wearing the inside tread of tires wear out 90ć— faster. The subframes about to snap causing the whole rear end to hit the ground

In the city of kalamazoo michigan, i was driving and made it over a chunk of ice(the ice build up from the plow trucks.) it was similar to the way taking a speed bump to fast would feel. While i was going no morethan 30mph over this chunk/bump when i heard a loud crack that did not sound good and after that my vehicle could not steer because the engine cradle was rusted through making it very unsafe to drive before i had to pull over.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. While driving approximately 25 mph, the front driver side wheel suddenly detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who discovered that the front cross member failed due to corrosion of the subframe. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 98,000.

The subframe has corroded causing my tire to break while driving down a city street.there is a problem that chrysler is aware of but has not to informed the public only service. If i have been driving on the freeway this would of been a horrible accident and could of caused bodily harm.*dt

We had the front controls arms and rear toe links replaced in november 2018.upon going to purchase new tires, the lf lower control arm w/ball joint were found to be defective and unsafe...we had them replaced immediately for safety reasons as the car is driven hundreds of miles a week and used 6 days a week and couldn't wait until an appointment could be made at the same dealership that replaced it originally.we were told if the dealership had done the repairs/replacement there would have been no charge because it was still under warrenty....we are seeking a refund for the parts under the warrenty only...not the entire bill which included the cost of 2 new tires that were a routine purchase....the invoice is attached with the current work, the original warrenty work and the amount of $316.93 is what we're seeking to be reimbursed for., not the total of $811.34---the invoice is broken out for your review.

Front crossmember is completely rotted out. Chrysler extended the warranty for this to 10 years to include inspections rather than recall to correct this problem. Since i bought this jeep used i was not informed this could be a problem or that i was entitled to inspections to look for this problem. I originally thought this was a control arm issue but when the vehicle was put on the hoist, looking at it from below, the front crossmember has nearly completely rusted out. No other parts of the underside of the vehicle have experienced this extent corrosion damage. This is clearly a defect in materials of construction or choice of surface coating for this part. This is an extremely dangerous condition which consumers may be completely unaware of, unless they were the original purchaser. Dealership service department said they had a customer make it to the dealership for the same problem just to have the crossmember give way, dropping the the engine onto the ground in the parking lot. Unbelievable! i wish i had photos from when i originally had it on the hoist, but i didn't get them. It is at the dealership now. Chrysler initially said they would try to offer some "good will" but have since rejected this due to the $2350.00 estimate for repair. No wonder they weren'trecalled. Shame on you chrysler!

The contact stated that the manufacturer provided a 10 year extended warranty coverage on the vehicle for the crossmembers. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Tire low sensor was activated.upon checking tire pressure, noticed two valve stems were broken off.they were replaced at owners expense as chrysler said it wasn't covered under warranty.car currently has three more broken stems.material seems to be defective and cannot replace stems without replacing entire sensor.

K cross member rod is completely rotted out and too dangerous to drive. I paid extra to have extra protective undercoating put on.stationary my computer cannot send you any of the documentation i have. I am also contacting ohio attorney generals office as i see there are many other complaints just like mine about the exact same thing.

About 2 weeks ago i was working on brooklyn. I got out of work at 8 and the roads were bad as i was going down jefferson rd my car started sliding so i just let the car go because i couldn't stop it is inevitable. So my car hit the ditch by the church. I was paranoid but i knew i was fine so i was able to take my car out of the ditch and i got down and checked it and everything was fine but the radiator was leaking my coolant. So i got in my car and drove carefully and slow until i got home. I got my radiator fix because is the only car that i have to move around. I took my car to get checked out because i was scared that something else might have broke. I took it to budget tire where they told me about all this stuff that i need it fix which i knew i didn't need them fix because i got my car fixed before winter hit so i told them that i was going to get a second opinion so i took it to tufts auto service. They checked my car while i was there and showed me that none of the things that budget tire said it was wrong was wrong. They said everything was fine except the subframe. They told me it would cost around 2500 to get it fixed with them but that told me that i could get a recall because of safety. Main reason why i took it to get checked out was because of safety reason. I didn't want to cost an accident so i wanted to take every precaution that i need it. They told me to call the jeep dealership because they should be a able to do a recall since is a hazard driving it like that. I talked to them and they told me that i had no recall for my car. I bought my car from my friend. I have insurance and everything is up to date.

Anytime rainfall is experienced, a huge leak occurs coming through the front dome light. It appears this leak is caused by a defect within the drainage tubes attached to the sunroof of the vehicle. Every time this happens, 8oz-12oz of water come splashing down onto the center console from the front dome light. This causes potential damage to the cars radio and power sockets below, as well as a huge visual interference while driving. Each time i am driving during rainfall or shortly after, i must hold a catching device (a cup, etc) to catch the water manually while it is falling from the ceiling, which impairs my ability to drive safely. This seems to be a consistent problem with jeep patriots 2007-2017 after doing some research online. This looks to be a manufacture defect. Jeep (chrysler) does not cover repairs or replacements for this problem.

On random occasion while driving, my 2010 jeep patriot hesitates and lurches when i accelerate. It has also stalled while i wait at a red light. It has also stalled when accelerating from a stop while i and while my daughter has driven the car. I have had three different mechanics diagnose and they can find nothing on the diagnostics report. This is unsafe and can cause a serious accident. I see there have been many such complaints covering many jeep models, years and makes and i cannot understand why there has not been a recall or investigation into this problem. Something needs to be done...are you waiting for more people to be killed in their cars?????

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the throttle control warning light illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis where the contact was informed that a wiring harness had malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 1,749 and the current mileage was 50,000.

The car was in drive going 60mph. It jerked several times and went into limp mode to 20mph. The electronic throttle light as well as the traction control light went on. I took it to my mechanic he confirmed the car needed the throttle body. The part was on back order due to a redesign (red flag there). It took three weeks for the part to come in. My mechanic replaced the part and my patriot is still going into limp mode. The computer threw out many codes. My mechanic after working on the codes for two weeks said that he could not figure out the problem and suggested i have my patriot towed to the dealership. I get a call from the dealership that my patriot is throwing 3 pages of codes. I learned my patriot is not the only jeep/chrysler vehicle having these issues.i think that chrysler should look into this issue, to have a car go into limp mode while driving 60mph can be very dangerous!

The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. While driving 45 mph, water leaked into the instrument panel and rear overhead interior lighting. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sun roof was the source of the leak. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Valve stems ( that are metal and have a sensor) are corroding are literally snapping off.i've contacted jeep directly and customer service states that it's not covered under warranty and there is no recalls on this issue.i've replaced 3 valve stems in one week.my latest one happened today on an interstate that could have resulted in a horrible crash. I do have documentation of receipts that i can't upload at the moment that state "bad" valve stems.

Mechanic inspected as part of potentially buying the vehicle. I had expressed concern over how it was driving. Ball joint is bad. I researched online and saw a lot of issues with this and was hoping that a safety recall was in place for it! My son just called me and this is the second valve stem which has broken off, ending up with a flat tire.he was attempting to unscrew the valve stem cap when the stem broke off and the tire went flat.the first one which broke, similar situation, appeared to have defective metal or flaw.i believe this component should last the life of the vehicle (unless damagae through an accident or similar).
