The contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the notification in october of 2016. An appointment was scheduled with the dealer (chrysler jeep ram, 500 prescott lakes pkwy, prescott, az, 86301). When the contact arrived for his appointment, he was informed that parts were unavailable for the repair. The manufacturer was also contacted and confirmed that parts were unavailable; however, they continued to send recall notifications to schedule an appointment, but did not offer any further assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Abs sensor , electrical stability control and 4x4 warning lights came on while driving and vehicle slowed down. I pulled over and turned ignition off , restarted it ...warning lights came back on and this continued, vehicle was drivable. Now car is in the shop but mechanic is unable to find any issues. He has checked brakes, struts , sensors so far nothing is problematic. I called jeep for help with issue but representative acted as if he has never heard of this happening.

Ever since i had tires put on, the seals leak and i was told it was an issue with jeep patriot rims. Electronic throttle control randomly comes on and the car wont go, i have to pull over and restart (intermittent problem over several months) now the the electronic stability control malfunction light came on and wont go over 20mph. Ive read several complaints. Why no recalls on this?!?!?

Abs sensor , electrical stability control and 4x4 warning lights came on while driving and vehicle slowed down. We slowed down and pulled over. We restarted the car and drove for a couple of miles when it happened again. It has been a recurring issue; this could be dangerous because of the way to car slows down unwarranted. The abs light is illuminated, meaning the abs may not work in an emergency. I have seen many complaints about this on car forums. We had a mechanic work on ours and they replaced the wheel speed sensor and the wheel bearings; this fixed this issue for a couple of months but it has begun again. Its possible this may be an issue for all the wheels???

Vehicle stalls out driving down the road after filling gas tank to full level. This is extremely dangerous situation that many people with the jeep patriot are experiencing. The fix is known. When will this issue be recalled and addressed?

After filling up with gas, the car started jerking when driving.when sitting at a traffic light, the car just shut off.this occurs after filling up the tank with gas.when sitting at traffic lights, the cars rpm's drop that the car almost shuts off if you don't keep it moving.

The contact owns a 2011 (na) jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated and the steering failed. The vehicle lost power while driving approximately 60 mph. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 116,000.

The vehicle is a 2010 jeep patriot latitude, trail rated model. Apparently struck a rock with the tailpipe which caused the muffler to move upward, resulting in the muffler getting caught on the muffler hanger mounts. This allowed the tailpipe outlet to rest above and on the inside of the bumper cover fascia. Damage to muffler and tailpipe was cosmetic, but heat from the exhaust caused the bumper to melt and char. Cannot be certain if there was any flame or fire as others have reported. We attempted to dislodge the muffler by hand, but it is too tightly wedged in.road hazards are a fact of driving, and drivers should do their best to avoid them. However, light to moderate impact to a muffler should not cause a situation where a hot tailpipe can come in contact or close proximity with any plastic parts (such as the bumper cover) that could melt, char or possibly ignite. The problem with both the patriot and compass have been noted in elsewhere on the internet and it is forcertain this is not an isolated incident.at this time, i would respectfully ask that jeep - chrysler provide a fix for this design problem for any potentially affected vehicles, and in addition, work with those owners whose bumpers have been damaged.

Whenever i put a full tank of gas in my car, my car stalls out. One time, i just left the gas station and it stalled and then when i went to get food, it stalled out again. I've heard of other people that have patriots, it happens to them. My car was in drive and it also happened when i was stopped with my foot on the brakes. One time it happened when my patriot was in parked. It's very dangerous because if someone was turning, they won't be able to since the wheel locks so you can't turn it. There should be a recall on this because it could be the fuel tank or the gas cap from what i've heard and it's not just me having this issue.

Maybe 5 minutes after refueling my gas tank, the car will unexpectedly lose power and shut off.it is difficult to restart.i end up sitting in the middle of busy roads unable to restart my car or pull to the side of the road.i have googled this issue and found numerous other people with jeeps have had this problem.very dangerous. Took it to a mechanic who believes it is a faulty rollover valve/sensor.

Upon refilling the gas tank to full from near empty, the car will immediately stutter and occasionally stall for up to five minutes. I discovered this upon pulling out into traffic and the engine turning off. This led to loss of power steering as well. Other cars had to immediately divert or collide into my car. Upon restarting the car did this three more times within 2 miles. No emergency lights or warning lights go off.this is allegedly a fuel system problem and the engine is "choking" due to a faulty sensor.this has occurred three times now.

The vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly stalls while driving, following a fill up of the fuel tank. The engine shuts off, and all power is lost, including power steering and power brakes. Requires attempting to coast the vehicle to a safe stop. This is a safety concern as there have been several occasions where we were almost rear ended due to having to stop in the roadway. Requires waiting briefly, and then the vehicle may restart, however, it will also stall out again until the fuel level in the tank decreases. It has been brought to my attention that this is occurring on many jeep patriot and compass models over many model years.

I've made a complaint already but my 2010 jeep patriot again stalled out after getting a full tank of gas and driving off, luckily still at the gas station and when i was getting coffee for my 3 and a half hour drive to school, it stalled out 3 more times when i am in drive. I was scared it was going to stall out on me while i'm driving for the whole drive. It's very dangerous because the steering wheel is locked and what if it happened when i am on the road and there is a car behind me? i could get rear ended. Many people are having the same issue with the patriot.

When fill gas tank, car stalls out when making turns on any roadway.

When i go to put fuel in tank, the gas pump keeps shutting off every few seconds. It takes forever to put any amount of fuel in tank. This problem started a few months back.

After filling my tank the jeep will randomly shut off. This has occurred more than 10 times in the past year.

The vehicle regularly stalls, but unexpectantly to those around me in traffic, after filling the tank.

Second complain about transmission failure. Vehicle needs new transmission again after 3 years from being replaced. As i was driving on i-70 from my hospital job in the morning rush commute, my patriot decided to drop speed from 70 mph to 30 mph on a blink of an eye. This time since i was alone just putting me in danger unlike the last time in 2013 when it happen that my 11 year old and 1 year old baby were on board. I swerve to the shoulder yet again to avoid being hit by traficc i proceed as i recall to turn ignition off and try to maintain tacometer from reaching 3000 rpm to avoid transmission safe mode to kick in again as i make it home.

First time 09/2013 i was driving on the highway at 75 mph from colorado towards arizona when from one second to the other vehicle force drop speed to 30 mph and a temperature light came on on dash, putting my family at danger since i had to swerve as fast as i could to the shoulder because semi was going as fast as me. When i came to a complete stop there was no power and a whining noise coming from under hood. I turned vehicle off and back on and light came off and power was restored but as soon as the tachometer reach 3000 rpm temp light back on and loss of power came back. I turn off vehicle once again and returned to colorado springs straight to dealership and was diagnosed with transmission internal failure 3 years after i purchase brand new at 73,687 miles on odometer. Power train warranty cover the cvt replacement and found out that 100's of patriots have the same issue. Fast forward 3 years later 2/2017 whining noise came back light came back but no warranty and unfortunately dealer estimates $6000.00 replacement bill. After much research jetco cvt's are the problem and after many complains patriots no longer with cvt's but i'm stuck with a non working worthless vehicle in my dry way.

While driving at highway speeds the transmission began to make a loud whirring sound.suddenly the transmission overheat light turned on and i lost power.first dropping from 75 to 40 miles per hour and ultimately to 0 miles per hour.this left me in the middle of nowhere for 30-40 minutes while i waited for the cvt to cool down.this has happened 2 additional times.each time the dealership has pulled fluid and stated that they could find no problem.the warranty is about to expire, and it appears after researching online, that this is a common problem with the cvt on both the patriot and compass.

5 months ago there was water leaking from rear dome light and headliner. I took it to the dealership. They were unable to duplicate the problem and said it was probably the sun roof seal. So i replaced that at $241.00. It happened again and worse. They are still unable to duplicate the problem. The dealershipwants to pull the headliner to "look" for the problem at a $500.00 cost to me. If this is a common issue with jeep patriots...why are they doing nothing to assist the customer? this is nothing i have done to cause the problem. What ever happened to good old customer service with a product that is defective?

I started noticing a damp/moisture type of smell in my jeep and thought it may just be the vents from having heat/ac on! but then started finding a little water on my passenger side floor mat and seat! just a few drops and thought maybe just from opening the window! it kept happening and happening every time it rained and snowed! then i noticed water dripping from the passenger side window pillar next to windshield and realized it was leaking! i called jeep and they told me i have to pay for it even though i'm under warranty! this is not right and i bought an extended warranty and still financing the [xxx] thing! something needs to be done about this! the jeep reputation is being scarred by this, in my book!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Bad ball joints same as many others. Also bad sub frame. Took auto in for maintenance and was shown bad ball joints and a rusted out sub frame. These were issues and earlier patriots but nothing has been done.

I recently brought my 2010 jeep patriot in for routine maintenance. My mechanic informed me that my rear sub frame has rotted and needs to be replaced asap. At this visit, he cleaned and oiled it and also advised me to take care of this asap.

At any speed the jeep is apt to start wobbling side to side after driving over bumps. (frequently called the "death wobble" by jeep owners when describing this condition.)at highway speeds this makes it difficult to stay in lanes.the hood hinges do not hold the hood securely down.at speeds above 30mph you can witness the hood wobbling up and down and side to side.you may read about both of these issues in dozens of online forums regarding jeep issues from owners across the country.

When traveling over 40 mph with rear door windows open you will feel the thump of air preasure coming to your ears, the faster you go the louder it gets to the point it hurts your ears.aero dynamics cause rapid change in cabbin air presure with rear door windows open. Even with only one window open it hurts my ears!

Went to go look for new tires and was told both lower ball joints were bad. Right side was worse and not to drive before getting it fixed; it was that bad. In my 45 years of driving i have never had ball joint go this early.ball joints went out before my first set of tires. There has got to be a serious problem for this to happen. It seems i'm not the only jeep owner with this problem.

A few days after hiitting a pothole on a country paved road, my patriot lost wipers, headlights, turn signals & rear wiper. None of the fuses were damaged or blown. I had the dealer run diagnostics but nothing showed up. I had the fuse box & relays replaced. It continues to happen without warning while sitting still & sometimes while in motion. Very dangerous in rain.
