The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, both front side curtain airbags deployed without a collision. The airbag light illuminated earlier in the day prior to the failure. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, where the dealer stated that there was an electronic failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 38,000. The vin was not available.

The 2008 jeep patriot sport with 5-speed manual transmission was purchased in may 2015.shortly thereafter i noticed the airbag warning light would intermittently come on, ding and go off within a few seconds.thinking it was just a loose connection, i wiggled and jiggled every wire and connection thought to be related to the airbag system to no avail.on august 18, 2015 i brought it into a very trustworthy independent service garage specializing in auto electric issues.the mechanic discovered a bad clock spring which was replaced.however, the driver's side airbag was also bad.considering the importance of a fully functioning airbag system, the vehicle's relatively low mileage and light, accident free use this has had, i think the defective (and expensive) parts should be covered under an extended factory warranty.these should not be failing like this unless they are defective or poorly designed.

My airbag has been on for about a month now and i called the jeep dealership closest to me and they said that mine specifically is not covered under the recall. We shouldn't have to be paying hundreds of dollars when more than one model is affected and i have not gotten it fixed yet due to not having the funds. It goes on and off throughout the drive. It will always come on when i start the jeep and then sometimes it flashes on and off and then goes off for a mile and comes back on.the code coming up on our reader is a bad spring.

The clockspring failed.the failure causes my airbag light to intermittently come on when the vehicle turns direction and/or accelerates from a dead-stop to cruising speed. The part number is 05156106ad.the cutter dodge/jeep dealership in pearl city, hawaii informed me that the part was not covered under extended warranty, nor under manufacturer recall despite [jeep] having received a substantial number of complaints, so cutter wanted $600 for parts and service. The part is also used in the compass, wrangler, and liberty models for the same production-year.

I had just filled the tank as usual and drove about 500 yards to a red light. In the past after a fill up, the jeep would stall and "buck" around 30 mph, as if it couldn't get into gear, even though this is a cvt. I thought this might happen again, but it didn't this time, which was curious. At the light, upon attempting to accelerate there was no response from the throttle, and the car remained in drive, but refused to move. I could not shift out of gear into neutral. A red light in the upper left corner of the dash came on and began to beep, and the entire dashboard lit up, with every light coming on and making noise. Eventually, i lost all power and waited more than an hour for a tow truck in the middle of a three lane avenue. The mechanic told me a relay was entirely blown and blackened, and this had killed the battery. This was replaced at no cost to me, but he said they could not find what had caused the relay to blow. Essentially, what occurred was a symptom, not the cause, and would happen again. The car is currently sitting, deemed unsafe to drive. I also had lower ball joints replaced at 55,000 miles, which is far too early. I love jeep, but i hate the 2007-2010 patriots. Bad buy.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the alternator failed and a grinding noise could be heard coming from the alternators bearings whenever the engine was started. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure after performing a diagnostic test. The grinding noise continued to worsen. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that they would reimburse half of the repair costs. No further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 27,000 and the current mileage was 66,000.

The check engine light came on & i took it to a private mechanic. After testing it he said the error was from too much voltage going to the o2 sensor heater. He recommended taking it to a dealership for repairs. He also notice the safety cover over the rear brake lines & fuel line had came loose and used wire ties to fasten it back in place.

My vehicle will sometimes not go when i press the gas.the brakes don't properly work, the 4 wheel drive lock fails, the esp light flashes, the traction control fails, and it makes it difficult to drive over 5 miles an hour.i have yet to be in an accident, but i fear it may happen.it happens immediately after starting to drive, and doesn't always correct itself.i contacted jeep and they told me i'm on my own.it is a known issue with these vehicles and wonder why they haven't recalled them to fix the problem.i fear i'm stuck with a lemon vehicle, because the transmission has already been replaced and i've only been in possession of the vehicle for 10 months.what are my options moving forward?

The car cuys in an out almost limeit going to shut off. Then the check engine light will come on an flash an ding . Shortly after while drivi g the esp comes on cuts out lime goi g to die then engine dies driving or parked

Over the past year my jeep has been very sluggish, accelerates at higher rpm's than normal, "shifts" rough ( even though it is a cvt and doesn't have gears). For example, when i slow down to make a turn and then proceed to accelerate after the turn, my jeep hesitates to accelerate, the rpm's plummet and then reach to over 3000 rpm's before it slams/jerks into gear to return to around 2000 rpm's. Twice my jeep has shuttered and stalled while at red lights. Last week after backing out of my driveway, as soon as i put it in drive the electronic throttle control light started flashing and dinging at me. My jeep went into "limp mode" and i was not able to travel 8 feet from my driveway. I pulled to the side of the road and attempted to restart my jeep 3 times, and every time i had the same "limp mode"/electronic throttle control issue. The check engine light did not come on at all. The manual states that "if the light is flashing when the engine is running you may experience power loss, an elevated/rough idle, and increased brake pedal effort, and your vehicle may require towing. Immediate service is required.". This does not sound safe. I had it taken to a certified auto mechanic who said it was a throttle body issue and that i would need to have it replaced. However, chrysler/jeep has 1,500-2,000 throttle bodies on back order and i was told it would take several months to even receive the part. I'mglad that my jeep did not stall or go into "limp mode" while traveling on the highway as this could cause a fatal accident. I consider myself lucky, even though i am now making car payments on a vehicle that will not run. This is also my only vehicle. There must be a major issue with the throttle body to have 1,500-2,000 on back order and should be looked into.

After snow has melted, the maplight leaks water all over the inside. I'm concerned that there will be wiring issues for the sunroof and the light as well as anything in the dash due to the water going everywhere. Prior issues w/water leaking in the firewall and leaving an inch of water on the drivers floor (3 attempts to get it fixed) resulted in chrysler paying a portion due to being out of warranty. Water shorted out wires running under the floor for dash lights, anti lock brakes wanted to kick in driving down the road, 4wheel drive woudl not work and the cruise control would not work. Now back to dealing w/water again leaking out the map light, very frustrated and angry!

This issue may have started way earlier, since the patriot electrical system on the dash board would sometimes come onand then go off intermittently. I reported it during the first year, 2008 and a few times during 2009 and 2010.i had not have this problem again until earlier this year.checks by dealership came back, "nothing is wrong". That's it!!this year the problem got worst, intermittently, my headlights, turn signal, wipers would not work. Hazard lights will not work.one day it rained and i realized the wipers did not work, i had to pull over for safety.this is a serious safety issue.the dealership spend all day trying to figure out what was wrong, unplug the computer, rebooted and then everything worked.five hours later, the same problem happened again.i got charge 100 dollars for that, now i had to pay total of 317 dollars before tax for the parts and labor to put in wi fi body module.this equipment should be recalled, this is a serious safety issue.also, i had to replace the ball bearing and arm three times!! this is ridiculous.i do not go off road, i don't go over pot holes.

Sentry key receiver failed in steering column.there is no way to start engine when component fails, vehicle had to be towed for repair.full repair and tow covered by warranty, however this runs out at 36k miles.after that consumer would be responsible for tow costs and replacement of faulty part, which is not a component subject to wear and tear of use.

Sunroof leaks badly causing water to pour out of dome light and other places. Leaving everything water soaked and musty smelling. Can not be good for electrical wiring. Their has to be something done about this too many complaints and on many different years of jeeps. I cannot believe they just keep making them and getting by with so many vehicles still all have the same problem. Someone could get hurt really bad if it causes a fire. Something needs done.

I was leaving work and the car started just fine but then as i was starting to drive it stalled out. It started back up just fine and then did the same thing. This went on several times. And when it stalls out, my power steering is gone and it is hard to get it to a safe stop. I am worried if i take it out on the road it will stall out and cause an accident. I have read several reviews of this problem with recalls on the 2009 model but not the 2008.

Water leaks through dome lights, shorting out electrical system.

On my 2008 jeep patrtiot, on braking, usually when coming to a stop at a traffic light or stop sign, most of the dash lights, including 4wd, abs and esp, come on briefly. This has happened many times over the past couple of years, beginning at about 35,000 miles. Usually, the only symptom of the problem is the dash lights come on accompanied by a warning chime, but the engine remains running. Recently, however, it seems to be happening more frequently, and even more worrisome, is the fact that the engine sometimes dies when this happens. This morning, the lights came on, the warning chime sounded and the engine died when i was turning a corner, causing me to lose forward progress, power steering, etc. I have had the vehicle to a jeep dealer and an independent garage, and neither has been able to diagnose or fix the problem.*cw

The car cuys in an out almost limeit going to shut off. Then the check engine light will come on an flash an ding . Shortly after while drivi g the esp comes on cuts out lime goi g to die then engine dies driving or parked

Summary:while driving my car will still in the engine dies the car lots of city it doesn't matter where you're going after you put gas in the car he usually doesn't start but now it has started not letting you fill up with gas at stopping the fuel pump like your tank is full and it didn't put any gas in it but it's very dangerous and scary when you're driving down the road and your engine shuts off in the car stalls and locks up. The traction control will come on and it's an able to be turned off after it locks up and stalls and shuts off while you're driving it any speed it doesn't restart it is very scary when you're going down the highway in the engine stalls

We purchased a used jeep patriot 2008 and within a few months had problems withthe stability lights coming on when we slowed from highway and car needing to be restarted to regain power. The transmission kept doing a weird kickback. The vehicle was checked on the computer repeatedly and did not show a code. Also ,the oil change light kept coming on even after oil changed. We replaced arms , bearings, still issue not corrected .( the bearing replaced twiceby dealership a year ago is still making loud noises.) recently the kickback is increasing and the dealership has advised us we need an entire new transmission. This is a 2008!!!!! 5 years old!!! there was a recallon some 2008 patriots , but i am being advised not ours and so far chrysler is refusing to do anything for us on the transmission.

Purchased vehicle in december, complained of loose steering from day 1 nicely, inspection sticker was put on through dealerships mechanic which i later discovered was on local news for investigation of fraud like activity, reached out to credit acceptance, no results, later discovered they have past lawsuits, investigations, court rulings against them, as well as dealership having multiple business claims in ma/nh, i proceeded to bring my case to the bbb, district attorney as well, two written estimates of vehicle not being safe, still have one of two bald tires for evidence in my possession, pictures of 5 safety lights on to date, i have spent at least 500.00 additional repairs, vehicle monthly payment, insurance, initial deposit and trade in, i am a struggling sole parent/provider that was tired of dealing with my prior vehicle, i have research to present my case including lemon law support, loan company on probation in ny and one other state, i desperately need assistance in this circumstance as i am employed with amazon flex subcontracting and needing reliability, i struggle with writing so hopefully this message is an example of why manufacturers should be learning from their mistakes, not keeping horribly dangerous vehicles for resale, and i'm going to end this note by giving additional input on how unfair it is that mopar was fined 1.7 billion dollars, this vehicle is vibrating when i get to 40mph, making whistling noise at all speeds, 5 safety lights, electrical system issues getting worse as well

After filling the gas tank the vehicle shuts off within a mile when idling. It does it at red lights and at low speeds.

For the past year or so, i have been experiencing problem posted on the jeep patriot forums under this link (http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271689). Happens 95% of the time where the engine will stall after filling the gas tank. It can happen while sitting still or while driving. If it stalls while driving, the power steering and power brakes go out making it very difficult to control the jeep. The obvious concern is that it could lead to a crash. I don't like the idea of just "don't fill it up all the way" - that seems like a cop out. I took it to the dealer after it happened the first time - they kept it for 2 days, driving it all around and were unable to reproduce it (this was before i stumbled across this forum and realized it only happens after a gas tank fill-up). I hope that my submission and others' lead to a recall.

We bought the jeep used with about 50k miles on it. After a short time the check engine light came on for a valve to be replaced. Also, when we use the turn signal the dome lights come on. Of course even though we bought the warranty none of these problems are covered. I don't know how the lighting system failing could possible be wear or tear or misuse, but they say its not their fault and it's not covered. So in the 3 day period where we were waiting to have those problems fixed we had another problem. My wife and i were driving down the highway at about 50mph and the tire completely and instantly went flat almost causing us to wreck! with my 4 year old son in the back! we take the tire to a tire shop and they say it was the valve and it's a known problem with our vehicle for that year and explains everything about it. I call 2 other tire shops to verify what he said and they both automatically knew about the problem and said it happens all the time and i also need to have the others replaced costing over $350!!!we tell the jeep dealership about it and they say we hit a rock driving down the road and they know of no such problems. I google the problem of tpms and sure enough tons of websites talking about everyone's ball joints going bad, and tpms problems. Not only are they acting like it's not a known problem when it clearly is...they put me and my families' lives at risk by acting like nothing is wrong and not letting us know that the problem will likely continue happening to the other tires!!!! this is an outrage and something needs to be done!

My 2008 jeep patriot keeps stalling and is great mechanical condition .the car keeps stalling while in park and driving without warning which is a very dangerous condition.have mechanic trying to figure it outand he can't .seen other people with same problems but no answers. This needs to be recalled to figure out what is going on with this issue.

Have had my jeep for 6 years its always stalling i took it to jeep chrysler dodge, firestone nobody can figure out whats wrong; it actually turns itself off and nobody knows why. This is dangerous this car needs a recall. I have read that 2012 models do this same thing but this one does it too.also the sunroof leaks as well and the rainwater goes into the lights. I would never recommend a jeep to anybody ever again, these cars are not safe and no one cares about this problem.i have paid to get it looked at but they don't know how to fix it, i have been told it probably needs a system update there is nothing wrong but yet my car turns itself off all the time going down the highway at speeds 65 miles an hour the engine stalls and shuts off the sunroof has leaked and poured inside the jeep since the day i had it it's a very dangerous vehicle it needs to please be investigated

Everytime right after i fill up my 2008 jeep patriot (car is shut off while fueling) the jeep either bucks me back and forth like it's a manual getting stuck between gears for about 1 minute (it's an automatic) or it stalls and dies (car shuts off). So far when the jeep dies it has turned back on.. This happens normally under a half mile after the jeep has been filled up with gas to the fill mark. The car is in motion when this occurs and it usually occurs on city streets seeing as most gas stations are in town, but this has occurred on the highway after filling up with gas at a station located right off of the highway.

2008 jeep patriot stalls shortly after filling up the fuel tank. Bought it used, and on the first fill up, got about .5 miles before engine stalled. On my second fill up, on december 29, 2017, it stalled again after filling the fuel tank and driving in moderate traffic. Again at approximately .5 miles. This was more serious as it was in traffic and could have caused a major accident. This was more a concern for me as my family was in the vehicle as well.

Engine sputters and stalls after filling tank. This occurs a few minutes into driving immediately after the tank is filled. The car sputters and stalls, and the steering wheel locks up, while the car is in motion, which is extremely dangerous. This has happened three times now.this is a very common issue: http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498

Every time i get gas my jeep bucks and stalls for a few days. It bucked and stalled probably a dozen times on my way home from getting gas yesterday. I just read a whole page of complaints regarding the fuel tank being faulty letting liquid gas in the manifold (something like that) but it's dangerous and it's a defect obviously. Stalling while entering a highway ramp to a 75 mph road is scary. I have had this problem for a few years but it's expensive to repair. I've paid mechanics to repair it before but they misdiagnose it and charge me to deal with the transmission and transmission fluid etc. Please do something. Repair is $1200 and my jeep only has 100,000 miles on it. Thank you for your time.

I live and drive in the new york area. Often when i go on drives of 20 miles or more in the summertime months, and it could be anywhere between 70 to 90 degrees fahrenheit outside, the 2008 jeep patriot becomes a dangerous vehicle to drive. When traveling with this vehicle on a freeway or interstate at a legally high rate of speed, the vehicle often experiences some malfunction that causes a shut down. The vehicle automatically reduces its speed to below 30 mph without any warning or sign of stress. Imagine driving down i-95 with huge trucks behind you and the vehicle suddenly stops responding to the accelerator but rather automatically slows and there is nothing i (or anyone) can do to prevent it because there is no warning. My first instinct is to get to the side of the road as quickly as possible so i don't get rear ended from large trucks, but sometimes this occurs where there is no place to pull over. It is extremely dangerous. This has happened to me at least 10 times since i bought the jeep in september of 2008. I am fearful to drive the jeep long distances on warm days, especially on highways. There is no indication that the jeep is going to shut down from what is apparently an overheated transmission because the "transmission temperature warning light" illuminates at the same time the vehicle begins automatically slowing down. Further, the mechanics i have brought the car to do no??t understand why it happens. I have researched this issue on the web and learned that there are hundreds if not thousands of other jeep owners who have experienced the same issue. This vehicle should be recalled as it proves a dangerous hazard to the occupants of the vehicle as well as other drivers on the road, and because it poses a serious risk to motor vehicle safety. The manufacturer tries to cover up the above dangers of the car with a line in its owner's manual, page 174.

Vehicle started shaking violently, after evaluations and inspections by certified mechanics, i'm told i need a new transmission.i just boughtthe car 2 years ago, used from a reputable dealer as is, with clean history. Had them check everything over one final time before purchase. Now i'm reading that many other jeep patriot owners have had the same problems. I highly suggest a recall for the 2008 jeep patriot.it has a cvt transmission, which is a dangerous transmission because if it overheats the vehicle shuts down. My husband was driving it on the highway and the vehicle shut down on the highway, luckily neither he not any other motorist was hurt. In 2014 jeep changed from the cvt transmission entirely, suggesting their awareness of the issue with this type of transmission. We don't want anyone else to go through what we've been through, get hurt or even worse. I do hope you would take this complaint seriously and launch a full investigation into chrysler.

While driving cross country from ohio to nevada the engine abruptly, without any warning quit running. The engine light did not come on; the temperature gauge was normal; i was continually watching the dash to try to keep the rpms steady (while climbing grades) at approx. 3000 rpm max. For fuel economy. This occurred on i-80 in the middle of wyoming. Fortunately ( luckily) i was in the right hand lane so i was able to coast to the berm. While waiting 1.5 hour for a tow truck i occasionally tried to start the engine.it would turn over but not start. After a 30 minute drive on the tow truck to the nearest dealership, apparently the problem cooled and the engine did start. The next day while driving up a steep grade the vehicle lurched.i took it thedealership in reno nv. There is a service bulletin already in existence to update the software in this vehicle's computer and to include a new flash drive for the transmission solenoid.they would not guarantee that this would solve the problem. I have driven nearly 3000 miles since then without a problem.how could my local dealership ( brunswick ohio) not have alerted me to needing a software update? i had the jeep there 4 days before leaving on this trip for the "lifetime poweretrain warranty" inspection.then, 300 miles after the software update in reno. The right rear wheel bearing failed.why didn't that dealership check for wheel wobble while they performed their complimentary 22 point safety check? what's up with jeep?my 2000 cherokee with 170,000+ miles has not had any problems like this; only normal wear repairs.

Whenever we fill up the gas tank on the jeep, the jeep will stall while driving on the road.the biggest problem is you don't know when it will stall after filling the tank but it definitely will stall.to prevent this from happening, we no longer fill the tank all the way.this happened on more than one occasion but i will put down the last time it happened because my daughter forgot that she's not supposed to fill the jeep all the way to full.

Car was driving on highway approx 50 mph and lost power and turned off. Jeep was unable to diagnose problem or provide parts.

After fueling the jeep it stalls when the next idle or two occurs. For example, after fueling, the jeep is driven and stalls at the first stop light. Sometimes it occurs when trying to pull away from the gas station. It is very dangerous as the steering wheel locks up and you have to stop the vehicle and restart it in traffic. It only happens when fueling the tank to full. This is a safety issue as it could cause an accident pulling out into traffic from the gas station. It happens every time the tank is filled up.

My car stalls frequently after filling it up with gas. The local dealer has explained to me that the fuel pump sensor is backordered and is unavailable. My car frequently stalls when pulling out of a gas station into traffic. This is a dangerous situation. The car is still under warranty, but the part is unavailable. It is my opinion that my car should be taken off the road until that part it available, but i'm not in a position to replace it with another one.

Over the past several months i am unable to put gas and it it shuts off the pump and usually it doesn't start afterwards but i will be driving down the highway at speed of 65 70 miles per hour the vehicle traction control light will come on the check engine light continues to flash standing in the engine locks up in the car stalls and dies and will not restart very dangerous and very scary

Everytime wife fills the fuel tank, the engine shuts off.80% of the time it happens in the intersection leaving the fuel station. She has almost been in numerous accidents because of this problem. She looses power steering as the pump is no longer running because the engine has shut down. Jeep dealer says this is a common safety problem, and that the fuel tank is the culprit. The overflow valve on the fuel tank is faulty. There are numerous complaints with other owners with the same safety issue. This need to be a recall before someone gets killed.

While driving my car will still in the engine dies the car lots of iowa city it doesn't matter where you're going after you put gas in the car he usually doesn't start but now it has started not letting you fill up with gas at stopping the fuel pump like your tank is full and it didn't put any gas in it but it's very dangerous and scary when you're driving down the road and your engine shuts off in the car stalls and locks up. The traction control will come on and it's an able to be turned off after it locks up and stalls and shuts off while you're driving it any speed it doesn't restart

Engine stalls shortly after refueling. Vehicle shuts off when it comes to a stop within minutes of refueling.

Dash lights -- 4wd, abs, esp and bas lights, skidding car icon -- all come on at same time accompanied by warning chime while braking and turning a corner at low speed, approximately 15 mph. Engine stalls, loss of power brakes, power steering etc., car stalls in middle of road near intersection ' safety hazard. Will not restart on first try (nothing happens when i turn the key). Starts on second try, then dies. Finally starts and remains running on third try. I have previously had vehicle to authorized jeep dealer and an independent garage. Neither were able to diagnose or repair the defect. This is beginning to happen once or twice a day now and is becoming a real safety problem.

Electronic throttle control failure. While traveling on interstate 8 in arizonawarning lightcame on resulting in engine running rough and brakes not operating correctly. When taken to dealer in yuma, ariz (fisher jeep) i was told to shut it off and see if it would reset on it's own. This seemed to work, but i was told there was no way to check this unless it failed completely. I contacted the mfgr and they confirmed what the dealer said. They also said this item (etc) is only covered for 3 years under warranty. Since i only have a few months left i am afraid this will fail and leave me with a very expensive repair bill.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving 55 mph. The contact maneuvered the vehicle to the shoulder and was able to successfully restart the engine. The failure recurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

Water shorted out wires running under the floor for dash lights, anti lock brakes wanted to kick in driving down the road, 4wheel drive woudl not work and the cruise control would not work. Now back to dealing w/water again leaking out the map light, very frustrated and angry!

Engine light came on,fuel tank would not allow a steady flow of gasoline from gasoline pump to gas tank, in other words the gas nozzle kept shutting off as thought the tank were full. The car gasoline tank would allow 2/10 of a gallon to go in then shut off. We had to / have to (same problem now occurring) repeatedly do the latter to fill our tank. The first time we paid out $400 with the repair shop replacing one of the two fuel pumps. We understand there is a fuel hose in the tank of this year patriot that had a recall and we were never told or notified.

I filled up the jeep with gas while stationary and off.i turned on the jeep and the engine turned over fine.i stopped at the stop sign while exiting the gas station, and the engine stalled and the wheel locked.this happens every time i fill up.the engine stalls for several days after fill up anytime i come to a full stop.thankfully, i have yet to get into an accident but, i no longer feel confident that this vehicle will remain reliable. This malfunction could cause serious accidents or the inability to move out of the way in an emergency.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate in a jerking motion. The vehicle stalled and restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on a separate occasion where the spark plugs and wires were replaced. The failure persisted after the repair. The contact mentioned that the failure was contributed to the fuel system. The failure recurred only after refueling and when driving at various speeds. In addition, the steering wheel seized on a separate occasion. The engine was turned off and restarted and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000. .....updated 02/10/16 the consumer was informed the vehicle needed a new fuel tank in order to fix the issue, updated 02/16/16

I went to my local gas station to refuel my jeep. After pumping in 38 cents the pump clicked. I removed the nozzle and tried again and it clicked once more. It took 11 minutes to pump my tank full. I contacted chrysler who refused to help with any assistance to fix my vehicle and stated i would first have to pay for a diagnostic with a chrysler dealership, (which in my area never answers the phone and never has an appointment time open) wants 115 for a diagnostic. I had my ford dealer diagnose the issue and they explained that the vent line in the top of the fuel tank is clogged. On this particular vehicle, according to alldata, this part is not service able which means i have to replace the entire fuel tank which is quoted at 922 for the part and between 400-600 for installation. That is absolutely unacceptable. I would like to see what can be done to resolve this issue because i really don't see how refueling my tank will cause this issue. I think this is a manufacturer defect and the manufacturer should be held responsible.

After fueling vehicle when driving away the jeep will stutter and shut off.the steering wheel will lock.this has happened when driving down a busy street.this usually happens a few minutes after fueling but has happened a day after.

Within a mile of filling up my gas tank the car stalls while driving and locks up the steering wheel.

After filling up gas tank drove out of gas station and vehicle kept stalling and locked up. Had to pull to side off of the road.

Starting about 6 weeks ago the car will no longer take more than about 1/4 gallon of gas before clicking off. At first i thought it was the pump at costco but i have since experienced the issue at several other stations. It takes about 15 minutes to fill the tank from empty and will spit gas back if i am not careful. Checked the evap canister and filler neck. Based on research it appears the only solution is to replace the entire gas tank.

Bad buy.

After fueling up jeep, and drive for less than a mile jeep shuts off i have to stop and restart the jeep. This happens every time i fuel up the jeep, went to dealership and paid to have fuel injection cleaned after a two days fueled the jeep problem continues.

About a year ago my patriot started having issues after i would refill my gas tank to where the gas pump turns off. The vehicle would hesitate and shut off 4 or 5 times as i was leaving the station. I have also had several instances where the vehicle shuts off while i am driving down the interstate at speeds over 60 mph which is very dangerous. It has also shut off multiple times while idling when i haven't filled the tank. The dealership has replaced the purge valve solenoid and alternator at my cost thinking that would fix my problem but nothing has worked. They also recommended i replace the fuel tank at my cost, but after already pouring over $1000 into the vehicle, i was hesitant to spend $1500 more. I have been avoiding the problem by only putting about 10 gallons of fuel maximum in my tank. Two weeks ago the vehicle made a loud banging noise and lights started flashing on the dash and the vehicle wouldn't go over 20 mph. Luckily i was only about a mile from another jeep dealership. This time the crank shaft sensor was bad. Another $800 fix. I told this dealership of the other problems i was experiencing with the car shutting off and they thought this may fix my problem. Then about 5 days later, upon trying to refuel my vehicle, i was unable to put more than 1 gallon of gas in the tank. The pump kept shutting off and gas started pouring back out of the tank. I researched the problem online only to find there are a lot of jeep owners experiencing the same problem. Other jeep owners have tried to replacing the evap canister, only to experience the same issue again several weeks later. Then they end up having to replace the entire fuel tank. This is a dangerous issue that needs to be resolved before someone gets hurt if they haven't already. The fuel tank issues are issues that i think jeep should be responsible for given the rate of occurrences for jeep owners.

Car stalls shortly after refueling. Generally i drive for about 60 seconds at which point if i slow down too much it stalls out. This has been an intermittent issue for several years.

Vehicle bucking and stalling after filling up with gas.

Car was driving on highway approx 50 mph and lost power and turned off. Jeep was unable to diagnose problem or provide parts.

Filling gas tank to top (fill valve turns off at pump) will cause jeep to sputter and stall when driving out of the gas station.stalling will most often happen when accelerating out of the gas station lot into traffic.car won't start again until turning the key completely to the off position and then starting again.after that, car will operate normally. If the gas tank is not filled till the gas automatically turns off, the jeep will run just fine.if left running a bit before accelerating out, then seems to be fine.need to burn off some gas from the top.i've had this issue before (5 years ago, 2012) and solution was to replace the gas tank.not covered under warranty.that worked for a bit, but it is occurring again.have had it diagnosed with dealership as same problem with gas tank and a valve on the tank.

Jeep stalls and locks when gas tank is filled. Has happened in the middle of fast moving traffic a few times with my babies in the car. Very dangerous!

After refueling the patriot i drove approximately 1/4 mile and the vehicle bucked, shuddered and shut off. The steering wheel locked in place and since there was no vacuum pressure the breaks we're not very effective. I was able to restart the vehicle after putting it in nuetral while on the entrance ramp to an interstate. This was the second time this had happened and until now i did not know they incidents were connected. The first time it occurred i had just refueled and was pulling up at a stop light and it turned off while i was stopping for the light.

My jeep patriot, after refueling, the engine cuts out.this happens every time i get gas in my vehicle.sometimes it stalls in the middle of an intersection, which can be quite dangerous.when it does this, the vehicle needs to be turned off and then on again, it will go a few yards and then stall again.i have contacted chrysler and the refuse to acknowledge a problem.i know a few other jeep patriot owners have complained about the same thing.my local jeep dealer told me to just not fill my gas tank over halfway.how is this a fix?i thought i was out of luck until i saw this article (http://www.autoblog.com/2014/09/10/dodge-grand-caravan-chrysler-town-and-country-stalling-nhtsa/ ).this article seems to mirror the same problem i have been experiencing with my jeep, which is made by chrysler, as well.

Vehicle stalls after refueling. Fill until click, no topping off. Leave the gas station and get on the road, the vehicle will hesitate and jerk forward, then stall. Restarts right away. Almost had an accident twice, rear end, and t-bone. I tried several experiments. Filling to 3/4 does not cause the issue. Tried gas in different locations, with the same results. After several month of 3/4 refuel, i tried a full refuel again. There is excessive gurgling after a full refuel coming from the tank. Stalled 4 times on my 2 mile drive home. Very dangerous due to traffic intersections. Also stalls at traffic light after full refuel.

After filling my 2008 patriot up with fuel the engine will cut off and the steering wheel locks up , todaymy 2008 jeep patriot stalled in heavy traffic. Lucky i was not hit. Something needs to be done this is very dangerous

After filling up gas at half a tank the car stalls trying to shut off after driving a short distance so there's no power to steer or brake safely in traffic. At stops, the car will shut off.

Gas pump will either cut off way prematurely or will overflow. Turned out to be a bad check valve.

This has been occurring for the last three years or so. Everytime i fill up the gas tank, with in a couple of blocks of driving away from the gas station the jeep stops and i loose power steering. I own a 2008 jeep patriot and i purchased in 2007. I do not look forward to filliing up the tank, because i know what happens and it does.

Our 2008 jeep patriot 4 x 4 has at times cut off completely while driving.when we were getting ready to take it to a local mechanic, we had an even scarier thing happen. Both rear wheels are rubbing wheel wells which means something has rusted through in the sub frame or control arms. We are 25 miles from our mechanic so now vehicle needs to be towed into town to even be checked out. We need to find out if the extended warranty for rust and corrosion will cover our vehicle. There are currently 280,000 miles on the vehicle which has been heavily driven in a "salt belt" state of maryland for work duties.

My jeep patriot stalls after getting gas. I saw online many others have reported same problem.it is a known defect of gas tank valve.very dangerous as steering wheel locks when car stalls. Why has this not been recalled?

Cannot pump gas, pump shuts off after a few cents of gas is pumped. Very big safety hazard during pumping. After doing some research i have found that this seems to be a very common issue and requires the gas tank to be replaced. I took my vehicle to the mechanic and was told it was the rollover valve.

Every time i fill up the fuel tank at a gas station and then drive off, the car - after being in motion will unexpectedly stall. It's usually about 20-30 seconds after driving away from the gas station that the engine stalls.this has happened at a stoplight, entering a busy highway and also just waiting in the gas station parking lot.this is dangerous!

Engine stalls after fueling tank.during acceleration out of gas station, car jerks as it seems the air/fuel ratio is messed up.car stalls when sitting at light or within a couple miles from the station at idle speed.i've resorted to shifting neutral and revving engine higher to counteract the stall.one instance was knocking/attempting to stall shortly after pulling from gas station, then operated fine on highway, but when exiting the jeep stalled and lost all power to the system (power steering and brake booster).waited a minute at light, then restarted and ran fine.dealer informed me that there likely is a problem with the valve to the vapor canister and it sounds like there is liquid fuel getting in.he had a prompt answer for me, so it seems as if he's answered the question before with other owners.

After refueling my vehicle, shortly thereafter (within a few minutes) my 2008 jeep patriot stalls when ideling or traveling at lower speeds.most recently the stallhappened when merging onto a main road and could have resulted in a very serious accident.this is a very common occurrence in 2008 jeep patriots and needs to addressed sooner rather than later.most remedies seem to be a rep lament of the fuel tank and vapor canister.

This past month of december '17 my 08 jeep patriot 4x4 with only 70,000 mileage had 3 repairs using dealer parts only. [xxx]e-mail [xxx]phone [xxx]1.replaced fuel tank.could not pump gas into it due to venting issue.replaced with dealer tank.vent hoses would not allow air passage.$8002.replaced abs eps system.$1,3003.replaced alternator.$400no recall although significant similar problems noted on line with jeep product.please help!had to complete repairs to avoid being stranded.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The car cuys in an out almost limeit going to shut off. Then the check engine light will come on an flash an ding . Shortly after while drivi g the esp comes on cuts out lime goi g to die then engine dies driving or parked

After filling up, the vehicle bucks and stalls. After a fill up this past weekend, the jeep stalled in the middle of a congested intersection leaving me momentarily stranded. Luckily, after a few attempts, the vehicle restarted. Very scary!! this has happened numerous times when leaving the gas station. It wasn't until researching this issue that i discovered many people with the same issue.

The last two times i got gas my patriot stalled while driving. When it stalls the steering wheel locks. Very dangerous i see online that it is a known defect and many people are reporting this with older patriot vehicles. Please recall this before someone is killed

At any gas pump i go to i can only put in about a gallon or so before the pump shuts off or overflows. It does this repeatedly until i have filled my tank. I have seen people with the same issue with patriots in forums and no one can seem to pinpoint an issue other than replacing the gas tank. I believe the issue is with a faulty valve in the gas tank. I maintain my vehicle and do not believe i should be having this issue. I would appreciate any help or feedback. Thanks for your time.

After refueling the car to having a full tank of gas,a short distance later - usually less than one mile - the car suffers a severe hesitation and once stalled completely.the vehicle is always in motion and on a city street usually driving straight. It has happened many times, today being the most recent.

After filling up gas the car turns off engine then start it up and turns off while driving. Very dangerous there has to be a recall on this???!!! please i am not safe driving this. I just bought this jeep a qeek ago. This happened 2x already.

After refueling my patriot, the car will sputter, lurch, and occasionally stall. The symptoms only occur after refueling within the first few miles and then becomes a nonissue until i refuel again. I hadn't had any issue over the past couple refuelings and this evening (3/6/2018) the problem resurfaced as i entered traffic and my car stalled and steering lost. I ended up straddling the center turn lane with a portion of the car hanging in the left lane of both traffic directions. I was able to finally get it restarted and repositioned so it no longer was an obstacle. After entering traffic again, it stalled one more time within a mile and then operated without incident. This issue has occurred on and off over 8 months but had not previously resulted in hazardous road conditions for myself and others. In reviewing forums for chrysler/jeep owners, this appears to be a known issue with fca vehicles.

When putting fuel in my vehicle, i am unable to put more than 1 gallon of gas in the tank. The pump keeps shutting off and gas starts pouring back out of the tank. The fuel tank issues are issues that jeep should be responsible for given the rate of occurrences for jeep owners and expensive fix.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. While driving with the cruise control set at 70 mph, the transmission warning light illuminated causing the vehicle speed to independently drop from 70 to 40 mph.the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The computer was reset however the failure persisted.the vehicle was taken to a second dealer where the contact was advised that the failure could only be diagnosed while it occurred. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance.the failure mileage was 130,000 and the current mileage was 142,000.

-rear differential failed. The entire differential was replaced by jeep through unlimited powertrain warranty. Problem solved.-the frame and body begun to rust. The problem started to appear when the car was less than 5 years old. The problem was brought up to jeep. Jeep declined to fix or address the problem. -engine stalls every 11 seconds. Faulty code shows: p2107: throttle actuator control module processor. The throttle module was replaced twice. Problem persists. The engine completely shuts down while driving. Very unsafe due to loss of steering. Currently, the car is not driveable - problem not fixed.04/01/2021: odi # changed from 10896825 to 10896752 as part of routine data cleanup.

Took vehicle in to dealer to diagnose noise coming from engine compartment.noise (best described as a whine) becomes noticeable at 20 mph and increases in intensity with speed.problem was diagnosed as being internal to the transmission (cvt) and will require that the transmission be replaced.this is not covered by the warranty.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot.the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the underneath the hood. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred when reducing speed. The failure occurred on seven different occasions.the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 38,600.

2008 jeep patriot began making clunking/cracking noises from the front end at approximately 50,000 miles.took into local jeep dealer and they stated the ball joints were in very poor condition and needed to be replaced via front end lower control arms.after seeing what they were going to charge, took to an alignment shop.while driving to this shop, brakes began grinding.ball joint failure caused brakes and caliper to be misaligned on the rotor causing the rotors to be damaged.mechanic pressed in moog ball joints they said would be superior to oem parts and that they replace ball joints on patriot, compass and caliber often.after getting ball joints replaced, the jeep began handling poorly in snow packed road conditions, where the front of the jeep feels uncontrollable and would sway from side to side, all while having total control of the steering wheel. Took back to jeep, they said it was a ball joint issue once again and that the inner tie rods were loose, but didn't think that a slightly loose tie rod would cause the jeep to go from side to side.purchased new tires, thinking it was aging tires.no luck and vehicle over time has become unsafe to drive on road, even on regular driving conditions.took to gmc dealer where a well known jeep mechanic works.confirmed tie rods are loose and strut is leaking.i understand wear and tear on vehicles, but after researching jeep patriot reviews/problems, i came across an even more alarming trends in the front suspension and otherhttp://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97871http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34529http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41396http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15863http://www.edmunds.com/jeep/patriot/2008/suv/consumer-reviews/http://www.cars.com/jeep/patriot/2008/consumer-reviews/

Bad buy.

On a return trip back home on the interstate, the transmission started making a "whining" noise. Almost sounds like a vacuum line is loose, or has come off. Only happens on acceleration or deceleration. Still shifts properly and smoothly, but now makes noise. Several days later, and the noise is still there, but no loss in speed, mpg, or shifting quality. As long as you keep a constant speed, the noise isn't there, but it appears on acceleration and deceleration.very perplexed.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, she noticed a loud grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised her that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the transmission. Approximately 20,000 miles later the transmission experienced the same failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they advised her that the transmission had failed a second time. The manufacturer was contacted and had not yet responded to the contact's concerns. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000 and the current mileages were approximately 66,000.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that she attempted to shift the vehicle into reverse but the gear shifter became stuck in park. The shift indicator light showed that the vehicle was engaged in neutral. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the shifter and shift cable would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 90,050.

While traveling at highway speed (70 mph) in michigan, the cvt transmission overheat warning light came on. After a few miles, the jeep would not go faster than about 45 mph. This is a real safety hazard when everyone on the highway is driving 70 mph or more. After pulling over for 30 minutes, the light did not reappear when the jeep was restarted, but rpms had to be kept below 2100 to avoid the overheat light coming on again. This low rpm limited speed to about 55 mph on flat terrain. The light came on again in pa on the return trip, speed was restricted as before, and the warning light did not reappear after restarting the jeep after a 30 minute rest stop. However, keeping rpms below 2100 on the pa turnpike resulted in a top speed of only about 45 mph, a real hazard when even trucks are going much faster. First dealer found the fault code of 0208 and did a software update to the pcm. The problem happened again. The second dealer could not find the transmission overheat code because it was not saved. The dealer had the vehicle for 4 days and said the transmission was not serviceable and had a lifetime fluid. The dealer said to bring the jeep right back in if the problem occurred again so that the code would be stored. The problem happened again and the jeep was brought directly to the dealer. This time the dealer found the 0208 transmission overheat code. After 5 days of waiting, the visiting chrysler tech said to open the transmission and replace the fluid. The two jeep dealers seemed to be completely confused about whether this cvt transmission has lifetime fluid or whether it could be serviced. The cvt transmission on this 2008 patriot has a lifetime warranty, but chrysler appears to have no interest in replacing it even though this is a safety hazard. Internet searches show other owners of chrysler vehicles with cvt transmissions have had a similar problem.

Took vehicle in for transmission problems, (this the second transmission since bought) they basically tell me that it needs to completely fail before they will do something.then they come back and say that they can replace the transmission cooler lines because they might be leaking for $410.00.and they also say that my front right and left control arms are bad which of course they can be replaced for $845.00.so for a problem that was under warranty they would not fix but they would like to fix other issues that may or may not be bad for a price.......very disappointed in dodge.this may cause me to defect from chrysler and buy ford.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4.the contact noticed that the gear box was placed in an undesirable location.when she rested her hand, she would repeatedly knock the shifter out of its intended position.the dealer stated that the failure was a normal characteristic of the vehicle.the failure has not been properly remedied.the failure mileage was 50 and current mileage was 10,700.

2008 jeep patriot 5-speed manual gearbox jumps out of first gear.difficult to engage reverse gear.first gear is random, but in the last week happened three times, two times, about 5km apart.reverse gear is always difficult to engage.the dealership just stated nff (no fault found).

2008 jeep patriot 5 speed manuals are having clutch related issues caused my clutch master or slave cylnder failures. The vehicle suddnely stops or not able to change gear while driving. I was lucky that i had that happen while i was in my parking. The clutch reservor is shared with brake and clutch. There are so many 2008 patriot owners who are having same problems. In addition, when either clutch or brake master cylinder fails, brake fails too. I had two accidentes earlier when brakes didn't work. I took my 2008 patrot to dealer and they told me clutch master cylinder need to be replaced. The consider as wear-tear item, but is is not. The clutch plate is wear-tear not a clutch master cylinder. Chrysler jeep dealers are cheating consumers by not honoring lifetime powertrain warranty. Please read this jeep patriot forum to find so many like me having same issues. But jeep dealers are not reporting it correctly, so nhtsa can not find out abou this issue, and so chrylser can avoid the recall. Driving on the highway the driver side seat belt came off from its mount the bolt had fallen out. The sunroof had been previously replaced by the dealer and i suspect they had removed the seat belt mounting bolt to remove headliner, inspection of the bolt show no application of threadlocker. I reinstalled the bolt with threadlocker and torqued as per spec for the bolt size.

After filling up gas at half a tank the car stalls trying to shut off after driving a short distance so there's no power to steer or brake safely in traffic. At stops, the car will shut off.

After filling my 2008 patriot up with fuel the engine will cut off and the steering wheel locks up , todaymy 2008 jeep patriot stalled in heavy traffic. Lucky i was not hit. Something needs to be done this is very dangerous

After filling up gas the car turns off engine then start it up and turns off while driving. Very dangerous there has to be a recall on this???!!! please i am not safe driving this. I just bought this jeep a qeek ago. This happened 2x already.

After filling the gas tank the vehicle shuts off within a mile when idling. It does it at red lights and at low speeds.

Severe vibration in the steering. Right and left lower control arms bad and had to be replaced.

Both lower control arms and tie rods failed at 30,000 miles and under.i just failed my annual pa state safety inspection for the for the second time in 2 years.this year it was the left lower control arm and outer tie rod.last year, when it failed the safety inspection, it was the opposite side components.my odometer read 30379 miles at the service date. This is listed on the current invoice from a reputable chrysler service center / dealership where i had the work done.last year's safety inspection failure was at about 23000 miles.i am obviously upset that i have had to spend so much money on this safety issue so early in the life of this vehicle.i am also very concerned for the welfare of other owners which may not have required state inspections like i have where i live.i am thankful for the inspections and the mechanic who recognized the issue and possibly saved me from a future accident.i started doing some homework finding that this is a common problem on these vehicles.i found this by looking at many different independent jeep owner websites, blogs, and even complaints found on the nhtsa website. I do not drive aggressively, go off-roading or any other thing like that which may have contributed to this problem.i am very disappointed that chrysler has not taken any responsibility for this safety concern to date.in fact, when i sent an email to chrysler i was given a stock reply amounting to "we are sorry for your trouble but we can't make a diagnosis on your vehicle.please go to a licensed chrysler service center.please report your safety concern with nhtsa. Have a nice day!" ...and here i am.i wonder if they even read my email because i already had the work done.hopefully somebody will take care of this before people get hurt or have to pay over a thousand dollars for repairing safety issues chrysler should be addressing.

Had to have front lower control arms and outer tie rods replaced at 47k miles because they had become excessively worn.as a result, the front wheels had developed a wobble and were noisy when driving.this problem was diagnosed during a routine oil change/tire rotation.

After fueling vehicle when driving away the jeep will stutter and shut off.the steering wheel will lock.this has happened when driving down a busy street.this usually happens a few minutes after fueling but has happened a day after.

After refueling the patriot i drove approximately 1/4 mile and the vehicle bucked, shuddered and shut off. The steering wheel locked in place and since there was no vacuum pressure the breaks we're not very effective. Driving down the highway at 50 mph and the car stalls leaving no power steering. This has been happening for the past 2 years. Last time i lost control an had a accident . Very dangerous . Please how do you correct the problem someone going to get killed.

I am the original owner of a 2008 patriot purchased 03-10-08.while on the highway,i heard noises from the front end of my car. Then i had a caliper lock up on my back brake and i took it in to the nearest mechanic. When the mechanic checked out the car they called the car dealer because i only had 29,133 miles on the car and my outside front control arm ball joints where worn out. The mechanic said this is abnormal and with such low mileage and should be covered by the dealer.the dealer said i was not covered under the warranty of 3 years 36,000 miles. The date of this repair was 4-23-11. A little over 1 month out of warranty. Three weeks later the tie rod went bad while i was on a trip. The cost of these two problems was over $1,000 in repairs that should not have worn out with only 29,000 miles (this does not include 2 tires i had to replace and other repairs).these parts had to have been bad for a while before i became aware of the serious danger of driving with bad ball joints and tie rod.

After filling up gas at half a tank the car stalls trying to shut off after driving a short distance so there's no power to steer or brake safely in traffic. At stops, the car will shut off.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriotthe contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic for inspection where they detected that the front passenger's side lower ball joint was faulty. The vehicle was then taken to another mechanic for a second opinion who informed the contact that the front passenger's side tie rod end and lower ball joint would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 37,053.updated 03/14/12*lj

I have read many other people on here with the same issue and my mechanic said my model jeep was known for this, but after hitting a curb my wheel and suspension parts holding it on let the front right tire, rim and all fall completely off.after getting it to the mechanic and having him putting it on the lift he told me i couldn't drive the car even after the front right was fixed b/c the car was a danger to myself and others.i was told the front ball joints which hold the suspension together and keep the wheels on the tires were completely worn out and the tires could fall off at any moment. He told me he had this issue many times with my model car and didn't understand it.i bought the car used a year and half ago with 45,000 miles or so.once the mechanic did change the ball joints, he told me something even worse... He could tell since they were not factory ball joints, that they had already been replaced by the previous owner. Therefore, the factory set needed to be replaced sometime before i bought the car, and a year or so after the replacement ball joints (the parts that hold you tires on so they don't fall off driving 60 mph down the highway and kill you and others) were put on, a new replacement set had to be added. This is a serious and scary issue that needs to be addressed!

Had vehicle in for oil change and was toldbe dealer that both lower ball joints and tie rod ends were "wore out" and would need to be replaced. Oh and the ball joints are "built in to the lower control arm, so both lower control arms need to be replaced" this is on a vehicle that has only 43,500 miles on it!how can this be!there should be a recall on this because it seems to me that this is happening to a huge number of jeep patriot owners and these part should last way longer then 43,000 miles. This is poor quality parts! the owners of these vehicles should not be expected to replace these major suspension part ever 40,000 to 45,000 miles! the cost of this is over $1,000.00. This is a very dangerous issue and definitelymakes the vehicle unsafe.

2008 jeep patriot tie rod end failure at 50k miles.good thing i had a state inspection and they found this.i've not had front end parts go bad like this in any other vehicle.i found out that they are using cheap front end parts on these vehicles, some fail at under 20k miles.tie rod ends, ball joints, and control arms seem to be defective.

On 9/21/2011 this vehicle was taken to our dealer for regular service at 30,979 miles. It was discovered to have defective and loose lower control arms and tie rod ends. The dealer indicated the vehicle was not safe to drive for any extended miles. There was at least 1/2" play in the wheels. The parts have now been replaced.previous inspection & tire rotation at about 25,000 miles and 2 1/2 months ago indicated no suspension problems.the only clue to the problem was some 'clunking' noise in the front end when going over bumps.this vehicle was purchased new, has been serviced regularly by the selling dealer, is driven exclusively on the road, and has been in no accidents. Up until may 2011, it was driven only about 7,500 miles annually.it was out of warranty for only 40-days. I am incredulous that a well maintained 4wd vehicle would have a major suspension failure with such a rapid onset at such low miles. Research on the internet indicates this is a common and potentially dangerous experience by other jeep patriot owners that should be taken more seriously by the manufacturer than it currently is.

Subframe is rusted out due to location of a/c drain. If it breaks steering control will be lost. This was found during routine inspection. 2007 and earlier models have been recalled

Severe vibration when braking in front end of vehicle, worse when braking downhill.had to have both front control arm/ball joint assemblies replaced, along with the left outer tie rod end.checked the jeep customer web site and found many similar incidents reported by other owners.

2008 jeep patriot front lower ball joints and outer tie rods were bad after 45k miles (99.9% highway miles). The lower arms and outer tie rods were replaced. The defective parts are still available.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle began to pull toward the right. Also, there was a loud clunking noise heard from outside of the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that both front lower ball joints were defective. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the repair was performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.updated 01/13/12*ljthe dealer replaced both front lower control arms and the left outer tie rod. Updated 02/06/12

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact fell asleep while driving at an unknown speed and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle was flipped thirteen times as the entire roof separated from the vehicle. The contact was reported inured and a police report was filed.the vehicle was declared destroyed and towed to a salvage lot. The contact stated that the roof separation was a severe safety risk. The vin was unknown. The failure and current mileage was 60,000.

Water leaks through dome lights, shorting out electrical system.

At about 15,000 miles we started to here "clunking" when driving the car, had it in several times for sun roof leaks and had the dealer take a look, but they could never find anything. This week had it in for the 5-year check up and in the notes it stated that the front control arms are bad. Did a search to find out more details and came across all these posts from other users. Looks like i'm now stuck with a large repair, similar to other users, for something that was an issue early on. All the miles have been highway miles. Not at all happy right now. If they were aware of the issue early on, why was it not found and repaired during that warranty period?

Rear light/flashlight leaks when it rains! i have had it fixed 5 times and it has never been fixed! i'm getting very annoyed over this problem. I looked online and i see that i am not the only one that has had and is still having this problem. I'm not a happy customer of this model now. Very poor when no one can fix the problem!

Headliner is loose in my 2008 jeep patriot. Slaps violently against roof. Noise is so loud, it sounds like a helicopter (no exaggeration). This happens when a window is down while driving. To an unsuspecting driver, this is very dangerous. It scared me the first time it happened. My six year old daughter was in the back seat as i was taking her for her first ride in my brand new car, she put the back window down and this loud helicopter noise came out of nowhere. I literally jump in my seat as i was driving. I could have very easily wrecked the car from the scare of the sudden noise overhead. This is also potentially damaging to your ears (it is that loud). Chrysler / jeep refuses to fix it because all 2008 jeep patriots have the "same design flaw" (yes they admit it). I have complained to the bbb (chrysler doesn't agree to arbitration with the bbb), the attorney general (ohio and michigan), and even contacted an attorney. I am being told that since chrysler refuses to even make an attempt to repair it, that it doesn't qualify for the lemon law. I explained the problem to my father over the phone, then took him for a ride in it several weeks later to demonstrate. My father couldn't imagine that it could be that bad no matter how i tried to word it. After the demonstration my father was in total shock and disbelief. He even complained that it hurt his ears after just a few seconds of riding in the car. My point is, you have to see/hear it to fully appreciate the severity. I am willing to take anyone for a ride in the vehicle to demonstrate the problem. I've owned the car since april and have only driven itfor about three weeks.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the sway bar failed due to the subframe being corroded and rusted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the subframe became inoperable and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My front crossmember / sub frame is rotted out . Contacted jeep they are aware of problem because they warranted 2007 models but not 2008 . Front engine cradle has huge holes in it . Design flaw cause the ac drips right on frame causing rust . Dealership said no setrvice bulletin issued but they lied . Finally got a good quote to have fixed gonna cost 775 to fix . I have also changed my front suspension components 3 times . Ball joints , tie rods etc andthe other parts . Only saving grace is its paid for and lifetime power train warranty .

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that water leaked through the interior dome light. The failure started intermittently but later progressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but they were able to determine exactly where the water was leaking. The failure progressed and the dome light began to leak whenever it would rain. The failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

The car was at the dealers and was told that the front sub frame was rotted and would need to be replaced. Not covered under warranty.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the entire front subframe was corroded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed that the front subframe assembly was corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,574.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. While parked, the contact noticed water leaking from the map light headliner onto the interior roof of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated that the drain tubes would have to be cleaned. After the drain tubes were cleaned, the failure persisted. The technician stated water had built up in the side panels and rear cargo area. The water was drained but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately ten different times. The contact stated the moisture in the vehicles computer was causing electrical failures. While parked, the engine continued to run after the key was removed from the ignition. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

Entire subframe and crossmember rusted beyond repair, needs complete replacement.i noticed an odd clinking sound when driving over even the smallest of bumps, or when turning.i took it in to have the brakes checked and when the mechanic lifted it, i was told the entire underside was covered in rust!i heard of the crossmember extended warranty so i took it to mac haik jeep for a diagnosis, they told me 3 - 5k to replace all parts, that only the crossmember would be covered under the warranty.they advised me to buy a new car.

My roof leaks water into my car through the map lights. This happened the first time in 2011 and again in 2014. The first time, jeep repaired the damage under warranty, but i will need to get an estimate for the out-of-pocket repairs this time. Internet research tells me this problem is not isolated to just my patriot.

The front sub frame was rotted and would need to be replaced.

There is a water leak coming from the roof area after a rain with vehicle parked outside. Most of it is coming down near the dome lights upon stopping from forward motion. It causes water to go into the dash and electronics panel and onto driver and front seat passenger. Sunroof seal was replaced by dealer with no result. I returned it to dealer for further inspection and repair. Major hidden water damage suspected. Dealer says they cannot get mfg involved at this time. I requested a replacement and was told it could not be done without a trade up for more money.

When turning right or accelerating from a stop i would hear a bang noise coming from the rear of my jeep. Immediately my esp/bas light would come on. The esp/bas warning light would go off but come back on again after making a turn. I noticed my left, rear tire was wearing out on the inside. Tread on other 3 tires had no uneven wear.on dec. 23, 2015 i brought my jeep into palm chrysler, jeep, dodge of punta gorda, florida for a multipoint inspection and oil change. I was informed that my rear sub chassis was rusted through and repairs excessive. I was informed by my service advisor -- kristie wilkinson, repairs would exceed what the jeep is worth and that rust is not covered under warranty, and it is not even covered under my lifetime maximum care chrysler service contract (# 34813970) i purchased in addition to the regular warranty. The next day i was shown the severe rust on the rear chassis subframe by the service advisor and technician. The technician said the rear of my jeep's weight is resting on top of the transfer case, and if he just hit the rear with a hammer one time it will fall apart in pieces and that the jeep was not safe to drive.my research has shown this is a fault/weakness that is already recognized by chrysler corp. In the 2007 jeep patriots and is covered by them until 2017. This a safety issue which must be addressed in this model year (2008), also.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a state inspection site, but failed due to severe rust of the subframe. The vehicle was taken to jim shorkey north hills chrysler jeep (7670 mcknight rd, pittsburgh, pa 15237) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was severely rusted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the independent mechanic observed that the frame was severely corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Severe vibration when braking in front end of vehicle, worse when braking downhill.had to have both front control arm/ball joint assemblies replaced, along with the left outer tie rod end.checked the jeep customer web site and found many similar incidents reported by other owners.

My jeep patriot needed front ball joints and control arms replaced at 32,000 miles.it has never been driven recklessly or even off road.it was a $1,045.00 repair job.the mechanic said it was a hazard to drive.the jeep forums are alive with complaints about the exact same repair early on.this is an excessive repair and a danger.http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37926&page=4.

Severe vibration in the steering. Right and left lower control arms bad and had to be replaced.

Ball joint on front driver's side lower control arm (lca) has gone bad and needs replaced. The ball joint is integrated with the lca in the jeep patriot, so the entire lca must be replaced. From speaking with the dealership and others who own jeep patriots (and the related jeep compass and dodge caliber), it seems that front suspension problems are quite common with these vehicles, even at relatively low mileage (30,000 miles or less).

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the vehicle was being serviced for a routine oil change when the contact was informed that the front ball joints on the driver and passenger sides were loose and needed replacing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer confirmed the failure. The dealer stated that the ball joints were no longer under warranty and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 63,000.

Driver side, front lower control arm and ball joint badly worn.was told by car dealer the problem is very common with jeep patriots. The dealer seesthis manufacturing defect so often. They keep several driver side lca/balljoint assemblies in stock.

Jeep patriot (2008) lower ball joints failed on both sides. Problem started at 37,000 miles. Car was taken to dealer, told to rotate tires (no mention of ball joints). Failed inspection 3 months later due to ball joints and lower control arms. Cost to repair over $1,000. Car must be fixed, but jeep does not insure that the part will not fail again. Very dangerous situation!

In december i had taken my jeep in for new brakes as they went bad and was told my front control arms were bad and going to need replaced.i couldn't afford it at the time and it seemed to be running ok. In may it was running terrible, very shaky and bumpy. When i took it in i was told front control arms and bushings and one back control arm and bushings were all bad/broken. As a result of that i also ruined my tires and had to replace those as well. At the repair time only had about 56000 miles on it. This was a very costly repair as well. (over 1600 dollars total and that is with a discount i get).

I had been hearing grinding noises from the front of my jeep; still under 3/yr warranty- i brought it in to the dealership. At first they did not hear or see any concerns and stated the noise was my tires. Of course it was suggested to get my tires replaced especially my front right due to the uneven wear. So i did, sound continued to become more consistent- i took it back to the dealer and they found my control arms, and ball joints to be bad.same problem is occurring again- took it back to dealer- they did not see/hear any problems and now i have a clunking noise louder than the grinding noise.i'm concerned this is a safety problem and i do not have the money to take to dealership again- not to mention i feel i've already paid for this problem once to be fixed.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the front suspension ball joints failed while driving 65 mph. The front of the vehicle started shaking, wobbling and pulling to one side. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who replaced both ball joints and arms. The front suspension continued to wobble within two weeks of the repair. The vehicle was taken back at the dealer for inspection and more repairs.the manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 35,925 and the current mileage was 36,210.

At just over 50,000 miles the lower control arms went out on my 08 jeep patriot, now in 2015 this problems has surfaced again this time it is the control arm and the outer tie rods.looking this up on the internet this appears to be a consistent problem with the jeep patriots.where my wife works they had a couple of these jeeps that they used as courtesy vehicles and after only a couple or years and minimal driving around a hospital campus they had the same problems with theirs.while there was not an accident my mechanic just called and said this was really bad and could have lead to an accident if we had not brought it in when we did.these vehicles should not be failing like this and this is an obvious design problem and many customers are being forced to pay for their own repairs.what does it take before these are recalled?does it take someone getting seriously injured or killed?

Had to have front lower control arms and outer tie rods replaced at 47k miles because they had become excessively worn.as a result, the front wheels had developed a wobble and were noisy when driving.this problem was diagnosed during a routine oil change/tire rotation.

Ball joint repair at 40k? i just turned the 40k mark on my jeep patriot 2008 when last week i began to hear a noise in the front passenger side. It was worse with the a/c so i thought that was the problem. Upon oil change, my mechanic told me it's the ball joints that needed to be replaced. I have no wobbling of my steering, but he states it is a dangerous situation. Now i read that it's a 3 yr 36,000 mile warrantee so i fall outside of that. Bad jeep, bad! i have had more bad luck with this vehicle than my commander which i loved. Fix this issue!

Subframe is rusted out due to location of a/c drain. If it breaks steering control will be lost. This was found during routine inspection. 2007 and earlier models have been recalled

I have a 2008 jeep patriot with approximately 80,000 miles. I have had to replace 3 control arms since i purchased the vehicle approximately 3 years ago. Most of the mileage on my vehicle is highway driving and i do not subject the vehicle to hazardous driving conditions. I find it alarming that i've replace 3 of the same component and suspicious that there is a recent recall on control arms on the liberty model. Besides the monetary inconvenience, i have 2 small children and am quite concerned that a component that can affect the ability to steer the vehicle continually malfunctions.

2008 jeep patriot 49,000 miles.passenger side front end making loud clunking noise.haven't located exact issue yet, but have it narrowed down to ball joint or tie-end.

We have had out jeep for 3 years took it to the shop to get a tire fixed...and they let us know that the tie rods and ball joints were bad.that is also the reason out new tires are wearing out fast. This seems to be a problem with this model jeep.

This is a safety issued with the 2008 jeep patriot.these vehicleshave a problem with ball joints and arms breaking.was told by the mechanic that this is a common defect with this auto and is a very dangerous problem. When i looked into it online i found many blogs regarding the 2008 jeep patriot with this problem.i think jeep needs to step up and correct this problem. I've never had to put money into a 4 year old car.

Took our car in for an oil change and dealer stated that driver side controller arm has play and will need to be replaced. Also told this isn't something that happens with car with only 35,000 miles.

When having new tires installed,i was told that there was looseness and play in the front balljoints. This seams to be a problem thats not uncommon with this vehicle. I feel that this should be looked into.

When purchasing new tires for my 2008 jeep patriot limited awd, the shop found that the lower ball joints were worn out. The vehicle has only 30883 highway miles on it. The jeep dealer states that this has been a common problem and the demand at this time for the lower control arms from chrysler is 930 per week. Having grown up around a front end and alignment business, i find this to very very abnormal. Whether it is a design flaw or inferior parts, chrysler corp needs to be held accountable for repairs to these vehicles. Suspension and steering are not where manufactures need to be cutting corners when building cars! i will be repairing my jeep with the best parts available, and maybe the people at jeep should consider doing the same when they build their products. I am not the only one having this problem, the internet is full of complaints, and let's hope a ball joint doesn't break and injure someone before they decide to address the problem. It took me years to get over the chrysler corp junk of the 60's and 70's and i truly hope they are not reverting back to the past.

I took my car to the shop to replace the tires.mechanics from 2 different shops told me that the lower ball joints on this vehicle were completely worn on both sides, that the car was unsafe to drive and that the ball joints should not have been shot for the age and mileage of the car.i had them replaced immediately.i then checked online to see if other owners of this vehicle had the same problem and was astonished to see that many many people had complained of ball joints going prematurely bad on this vehicle.had i not been replacing my tires, i might never have discovered the problem and it clearly was not something that would have been expected.my daughter is the primary driver and does a lot of highway driving.had the ball joints failed, she might easily have been killed. This is an accident waiting to happen.i contacted jeep and they said there had been a recall for ball joint failure for the 2005-2006 model years.i strongly feel a recall should be issued for the 2008 model year as well before someone dies.

Experienced shaking of steering wheel, and overall handling problems.

Front ball joints have been replaced many times, but wear out repeatedly.

Front end suspension parts were worn and about to fail. Replaced left and right lower control arms, sway bar bushings, sway bar links, bushing sway eliminator.further driving would have caused catastrophic failure of front end.i don't understand why, with the large number of suspension issues the patriots have not been recalled.all of the failures are occuring at very low mileages and both front and rear suspension elements are failing.all suggesting defective parts used in original manufacture.

Both outer tie rod ends, right lower control arm both failed at 45,000 miles not covered on extended warranty because it was not towed to the dealership. Was unsafe to drive at the time. Never buy a extended warranty it covers nothing it is a complete and total ripoff. Cost $599.18 for a problem that they knew about.

Driving home from the show room with less than 5 miles heard a clunk and grinding sound from front end.brought it back to dealer and found both front rotors warped, clunking continued.@ around 7,000 miles clunking increased from front end of vehicle. Brought it to jeep dealer, found nothing. Noise continued to get worse. Brought it back to jeep and again found nothing.clunking became nerve racking, @ 65,000 miles brought it to my personal mechanic and found that both control arms, bushings, and struts need to be replaced. And of course the manufactures warranty has expired!

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot sport (na). The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for routine maintenance when the contact was informed that the lower ball joint on the front driver and passenger side were defective. The contact called the dealer who offered no assistance. The contact was awaiting a decision from the manufacturer on whether they would assist in repairs. The failure mileage was 65,000.

2008 jeep patriot front lower ball joints and outer tie rods were bad after 45k miles (99.9% highway miles). The lower arms and outer tie rods were replaced. The defective parts are still available.

Lower ball joints bad 83000 miles. Multiple posts by other on forum about same issue. Jeeppatriot dot com. Some people need new ones at less than 30,000 miles. Terrible parts used by chrysler, i am afraid my tire will fall of on way to work so that i can pay for the repair that is needed!

In march 2011, i brought my car to my regular mechanic for an oil change and basic inspection of the tires.everything checked out fine.i asked him how the brakes looked, he did an inspection and found that they were in really good shape.in may, i noticed that there was a wobbling of the steering wheel when i neared 65 mph and when i applied the brakes coming to a stop.i brought my car back to the mechanic on may 27, 2011 especially when i started to hear a clank/clunk/loud noise coming from the front passenger side occurring when the car encountered a bump or in making a right turn and encountering a bump at the same time.this noise was in addition to the wobbling now.upon inspection the mechanic found that i needed brakes and rotors.the rotors were completely destroyed.this maintenance was done but the wobbling and loud noise persisted occurring at a speed of 50 mph instead of starting at 65 mph.i brought the car in again for another inspection and the mechanic found that the ball joints and control arms on the front end were bad, the right being much worse than the left.basically the ball joints looked like they had been on a car with 100k miles on it when my vehicle has 41k and is under 3 years old.he stated that the faulty ball joints seemed to have caused the sudden damage to the brakes and rotors especially since he had just inspected the brakes in mid march.i spent $800 on brakes and rotors and will be paying an additional $800 for the ball joints and control arms to be replaced on the front end.

I brought my vehicle in for new tires at 51,000 miles and was advised that my 2 year old jeep had ball joints that are dangerously worn. This is premature as it has been driven under normal use, just higher then average miles. As the warranty for this part is limited to 3 years 36,000 i am on my own, so i have ordered the parts and will do it myself.

Repeatedly brought 2008 jeep patriot to dealership for repair estimate of creaking in suspension and/or steering column.was told that a rock was found in the suspension and it was removed.problem persisted and again i took the jeep back for repair.was told that no sound could be heard and that nothing was wrong with the jeep patriot.looked on line where i found the information on bad ball joints and armshttp://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37926&page=4.many people have had this problem and jeep refuses to acknowledge this.i am taking it in for a 4th time for my concern for safety.

2008 jeep patriot lower control arms defective, right outer tie rod worn out at 38,000 miles.numerous complaints of chrysler lca wearing out prematurely.see jeeppatriot.com for other complaints.dealer wanted $1100 for repairs, chrysler covered repairs for $150.

2008 jeep patriot front lower ball joints and outer tie rods were bad after 45k miles (99.9% highway miles). The lower arms and outer tie rods were replaced. The defective parts are still available.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the front passenger and driver side lower ball joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect and they were unable to provide further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was a 50,000. Updated 10/17/11updated 10/21/11.

Vehicle is equipped with 17" tires and wheels.spare is limited use 16" tire.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front passenger's side tire became flat. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised to the contact that the valves stems needed to be replaced on all four tires. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 25,000.

I have a 2008 jeep patriot. The main concern i have is the tire pressure monitoring valve is defective. The main valve stem is made out of aluminum and they are snapping in half right below where the valve screws in on the stem. This causes a sudden decrease of air pressure that we almost lost the car at highway speeds. After further investigation by the tire store we have another tire stem that is ready to break also. The valve stems used to be made out of brass or steel. And in the colorado weather with the severe cold i think it is cracking the aluminum stems. This is a very serious defect but shouldn't be too costly to repair. If not recalled there will be rollovers as the tire pressure goes out very quickly. I do have knowledgeable skills in the mechanical areas so i know this is not safe.

When i first test drove my jeep, it leaked water from the interior dome lights. It was fixed before i bought it. About a year later, water began pouring out of my interior lights after it rained. I again had it fixed. Now for the third time water is again leaking out of my interior lights. I bought the vehicle brand new. This is ridiculous.

The sub frame is rusted out due to location of a/c drain. If it breaks steering control will be lost.i am a retired, certified, master mecanic and i affirm that thisis a manufactures problem on all the cars built on this platform.

In august of 2018 i have my car in the dealership getting a rear wheel bearing, cv axle changed out.this year i had it in the dealership again for the same issue but different rear wheel bearing.dealership informed me then that my vehicle cross members & sub frame in both front & rear needed to be replaced and quoted me accordingly.i feel that the sub frames & cross members have been rusty since i purchased the vehicle used from this dealership in 2015.when i found information on the x69 extended warranty for this exact rust issue, i feel that i have been taken a fool that the dealership neglected to alert me in 2018 when my warranty expired at the end of the year, just to bring it up again in 2019 to make a buck.i contacted chrysler as well (6-3-19).they feigned their vip system was down and couldn't look up dealership info???they said they would call me back and even had my contact information on hand (how can they have that info just from me name or vin?)chrysler still hasn't called me back.i am pissed about this.

Engine craddle/ frame rusted thru. Problem found on jeep patriots a nd dodge calipers.bad design because ac drains onto rusted out area,i am a pa inspection mechanic so i know this should not happen.danger is if crossmember breaks steerig control will be lost.

Gas tank: he problem is from the fuel tank rollover valve. You can only pump $5-10 worth of gas. Keeps stopping and doesn't allow you to continuously pump fuel into the tank

After filling the gas tank the vehicle shuts off within a mile when idling. It does it at red lights and at low speeds.

When driving in snow rear of vehicle becomes covered with snow obscuring tail lights, license plate. Manufacturer offers an after market rear deflector, that is supposed to help correct problem. Cost is around $200.00.

The dials on the dashboard regulating heat/air-conditioning, temperature, and fan speed heat up to very warm/hot when the air-conditioning is on and while traveling on the highway.this has happened before.the dealer service representative said this is common on jeeps.i'm concerned about the potential for a fire.

The power sunroof continually leaks through the dome light after heavy rain.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the valve stems on the rear and front passenger side tires failed twice within one month. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer stated that the aluminum tire pressure system failed and caused the valve stems to fracture.the vin was not available. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 63,000.

After filling up gas the car turns off engine then start it up and turns off while driving. Very dangerous there has to be a recall on this???!!! please i am not safe driving this. I just bought this jeep a qeek ago. This happened 2x already.
