Side curtain air bag deployment for no reason2007 jeep patriotside curtain air bags deployed while driving on highway with no accidentinvolvement.

My 2007 jeep patriot continues to leak water from the interior.after being into the dealer 3 times in still leaks water from the front interior dome light, left and right front pillars.water leaking into the car has caused electrical shortages in the sunroof, radio, and switches in the door.

My daughter was driving my jeep patriot today. She noticed some smoke in the cabin & pulled over to the shoulder & got out just in time. By the time the fire dept got there, 10 min or so, the car was completely engulfed & it burned to the ground. It was a 2007 with 12,000 mi on it & was in perfect condition with no problems at all up until today. She said she smelled a little electrical smoke ( like burning plastic)just before & thought it was coming from the side of the road.

My car was still having a delayed start when attempting to start the engine a month after taking it into the dealer and having it checked. There were even times when it would not start the first time. One day, literally about 0.5 miles after exiting the freeway, the rpms went up and down chaotically and the car began to come to a stop. Luckily, i was able to coast over onto the side of the road and call for assistance. And good thing i was no longer on the freeway. My car was taken to the dealer. They looked at it and said a wire to the starter needed to be replaced, as well as the battery. They replaced the solenoid wire to starter and i purchased a new battery.

Water appears to be leaking through sunroof, with inner dome light filled with water.potential electrical issue.

Although the wire to the starter had been replaced in october 2010 by the dealer, the car was still having problems starting. I took my car to a relative to check my car since nothing was really getting resolved at the dealer. Once my car was turned off it would not restart. My car was examined and the wire they replaced was not placed back into the protective casing and was slightly charred. In addition, the starter was burnt out and needed to be replaced. The core was kept by the auto part store the new one was purchased from. The dealership said replacement of my starter would not be covered under warranty. It was very surprising the starter had to be replaced just after 3 years.

This vehicle is my daughters and when we took it in to have new tires installed they discovered the defects. In april 2010 my daughter complained of a clunking noise when she would hit a bump in the road. She called me and i assured her that it was safe to drive with only 35000 miles on the vehicle. During this same time frame she took this jeep in for a regular oil change and at billion motors in sioux falls,sd and they tell her she has a bad tie rod end. Again i assured her that with only 35000 miles it is okay to drive. I have been a mechanic for over 30 years, but i was wrong. When we took this "jeep" in to new tires installed the technician informed us that the right front lower ball joint and the left front outer tie rod end were defective. We went to the tire shop and he showed me the defective parts, so i had new parts installed. At this time the vehicle was four years old or "new" and had 44,000 miles. If this vehicle had been abused maybe these parts would be bad, but it never leaves the highway. Maybe jeep needs to install grease zerks in their parts. Ball joints used to last 150,000 miles, these must be new and improved -huh!!! having bad ball joints and tie rod ends on a vehicle three years old is just wrong. How many of these parts have failed and caused accidents?the consumer stated a couple of years ago, the vehicle began stalling randomly. The vehicle displayed an engine code: p2110 throttle actuator control system.the dealer changed the transmission fluid twice, and performed some transmission updated. However, as the consumers daughter was driving home, the vehicle stalled again.the vehicle was returned to the dealer, where there cleaned the throttle body. However, the vehicle continued to stall. Updated 11/04/15.

My vehiclestarted stalling when i was merging onto a busy highway.theelectronic throttle sensor and stability sensor came on and i had to pull off on the shoulder of the road.the car was very hard to get to a stop. The breaks did not work very well and the car was jerking horribly. The car kept trying to die and would rev up and down by itself.it turned the car off and back on and it reset itselfbut it happened again.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that over the course of several months, the wiring harness insulators were beginning to disintegrate causing the vehicle to stall sporadically.the vehicle was inspected by the dealer and they advised him that the wires would need to be replaced.the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.updated 1/13/2012 *ln

About a year into purchasing the vehicle (purchased in feb. 2008), the left rear window would lock and not roll up. The car would have to be restarted in order for it to work again. It was taken to the dealer who examined the problem and fixed it.

Water leaks occur in the jeep patriot (all model years) from the sun roof, a,b & c pillars, the front dome light and rear dome light. The water leak is so heavy that water will fill the void between the actual roof and liner. Water also forces its way into electronic systems, such as the radio and various controls. I am concerned over possible damage to safety systems. Jeep will not repair it out of warranty and has yet to come up with a proper fix. The issue has been documented online by numerous owners, including youtube videos and complaints on http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/tags.php?tag=leak.

2007 jeep patriot - complete engine/electrics stall.driving down a busy street and all the electronics and the engine turned off.coasted into a side street, stopped, andput the car in park.it took about 2-3 turns of the key to start the patriot back up.happened around the 3k mile mark.

My car horn randomly honks on its own at various times.i had logged the incidents for over a month to see if there was any similarities among the incidents and there were none.speed, outside temperature, turning vs straight driving all have nothing to do with it.the horn will honk short bursts as well as long honks that will stop when i push the steering wheel horn button.there have been numerous times when in a parking lot or at a stop light it goes off and people think i am doing it.i am very afraid that it will cause a road rage incident/accident.i have taken it to the dealer 2 times and my mechanic once.neither have found any problems with the diagnostics that were run.

It began to rain so we turned on our wipers only to find that we had no wipers. They will turn on sometimes, but only on the highest setting, yet at a less than minimal speed.we thought it could be a loose connection or something seeing as our vehicle is only 3 years old, but when we went to the jeep dealership to fix it theft said it was the wiper computer module and would cost nearly 1000 dollars to fix.unfortunately we did not have the money at the time to replace it.

Vehicle stalls and steering locks up.this happened twice when i was turning and almost got in an accident both timessomebody is going to get killed!serious safety issue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 2011: submitted my vehicle to my local mechanic for a scheduled oil change and was advised that the ball bearing assembly was so structurally inept that the front wheels could be detached from the vehicle.repairs were made as was a major safety issue.nov 2011: about 4,000 miles later our jeep was scheduled another oil change, and the same mechanic noticed that since our last service the tie rods were in need of replacement. My mechanic advised that this is not typical of a vehicle that has total 49,000 miles and could not have predicted such issues between routine service appointments.

The car regularly stalls immediately after filling the gas tank up to full. Whether coming to a stop, or cruising, or lifting off the gas pedal while moving. Occasionally, early in the morning, it may stall also. It will restart immediately after stalling but the stalling is dangerous when driving at speed, on the highway, and/or in traffic.

Vapor/liquid separator valve.everytime i fill up my gas tank, within a few meters of the gas station my car begins to bucks and stall. Every single time! almost causing multiple accidents. This is an ongoing problem

On 09/17/13 at 0858 hours, i was driving my 2007 jeep patriot on the i-17 frontage road when the vehicle began to lose power steering. Prior to the loss of power, i was traveling northbound on an even concrete surface at approximately 50 mph in normal traffic conditions. When the vehicle began to "act up," the light for my electronic stability control turned on and the esc became active and my check engine light began to blink amber. Due to esc, my vehicle was extremely difficult to control (once again this was on an even, paved surface with no conditions requiring the esc to activate). Along with the esc becoming active, my vehicle began to stall and lose power. My engine would peak at a mere 2000k rpm and at about twenty miles per hour. Thankfully i was only on a frontage road and was able to quickly pull into an industrial area, however, if i was on i-17 (which does not have a shoulder) i would have been in great danger. Once stopped, i had to stop/start my engine four times for the esc and check engine light to deactivate. Once they did the vehicle operated normally. I took the vehicle to jeep dealership in north phoenix to see what was wrong with the vehicle. They advised it returned a "torque request signal denied" historical code for when the incident occurred, which "doesn't make any sense." i believe the above incident is related to two events that happen on 9/14/13. During two separate right turns the vehicle began to stall through a turn only to jolt and regain power.

After refueling my 2007 jeep patriot the car will stall in the middle of the intersection. The oil light comes onand the abs lock up. You have to turn the car on and off a few times it then sputters and will jump when accelerating.this has happened every time after the car has been filled with gas.it is getting harder an harder to re start when it stalls in the middle of the street on the way home from the gas station.

For the past several years, my jeep patriot cuts off every time i get gas. I've taken it to the dealership several times. They have replaced my fuel pumpand auxiliary (i believe thats what its called) and i still have the same problem. Ive also had my throttle bottled cleaned twice. Occasionally, the engine light comes on with code p0442 but goes off after a day or two.it's becoming super frustrated and clearly dangerous to continue to drive this car with no solution.

The problem has been ongoing for over a year even after trying several different expensive corrective repairs.after refueling my jeep patriot, it stalls bucks and jerks. I start it up, and upon pressing the accelerator and pull away from pumps or out into traffic it begins to sputter buck and stall. It is very dangerouse esecially when pulling out of a gas station into traffic which has caused several close calls of my being hit because it has stalled in intersections and on the highway. I relaced the o2 sensor and it did not correct the situation. I used higher octane fuel and it did not correct the situation. I used fuel treatment purchased from dealership upon their advisement after replacing the fuel filter and having the fuel system serviced and it did not correct the situation.

I bought this vehicle in january 2016 for our daughter to take to college out of town. I checked for recalls before i bought and found none. The vehicle was purchased from a chevy dealer. After our purchase, i filled the tank with fuel. When i pulled away from the gas station and into traffic the vehicle stalls and cuts off in the middle of two lanes of traffic. I restarted it and went about a block and the vehicle stalls out going about twenty miles per hour while i was in traffic. I made it back home and called the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and they stated they did not know anything about it. I called a local jeep dearlership and asked a service manager and he said he has not heard of this problem. Imagine how you would feel if your child was driving a vehicle with this issue! my daughter did call yesterday, 1/24/2016 and stated she must have put too much fuel in the jeep because it stalled out in traffic after she pulled out of the gas station. My issue with this is that it seems to be a known documented issue and has been addressed multiple times on this site. The culprit seems to be a fuel/vapor canister valve in the fuel tank and causes the vehicle to stall if filled all the way up. There has been no recalls from jeep but you guys have documented cases. I bought the jeep used with no warranty offered so i am stuck with this. My question is why has there not been a recall issued from your department? i do not think it is responsible for jeep to ignore this issue nor your department ignore it also. There are a lot of complaints on the same issue with no action. I will appreciate you taking action to have jeep resolve this immediately.

I have owned my 2007 jeep patriot since june 2017. About 3 months into owning it i have noticed that it will stall directly after i fill my gas tank. After i leave the gas station, i notice that the jeep starts to rattle and slow down, and while this is happening my steering wheel locks up and i am unable to turn and accelerate. This has happened about 10 times so far, and the most recent occurrence (12/11/17) it stalled 3 times within 5 minutes before the problem went away. There are no lights that warn me of this on the dash, making this a serious issue that could cause an accident if i were to be on a highway or busy intersection.

Vehicle stalls suddenly after re-fueling. This started happening a few weeks ago and now happens every time the car is re-fueled. It occurs a mile or so after leaving the gas station without warning in traffic. Defective fuel system problem is repeatable and dangerous. Get this recalled.

A mechanic told me that the overflow valve is probably the problem,. He stated that when filing up with gas, it is not shutting off the nozzle flow in time, and although it isn't spilling gas on the ground it is wetting the canister. He says that throws off the air-gas calculations until the canister dries, 1-4 mins after running. In the meantime, it shutters hard and/or stalls multiple times, even while driving. His recommendation was to live with it and just manually fill up a little under full. This is because the valve can't be replaced w/o replacing the entire tank.

The vehicle stalls when slowing to a stop. It is not during every stop but more likely to occur after refueling the car. On the first incident in october 2014, i had driven home from work (35+ miles) and when slowing to a stop at a light the vehicle stalled. It easily restarted and returned to normal. Since then the driving issues have increased to rpm decreases while driving on a highway ' the engine kicks/jerks the car and returns to normal driving. The jeep stalls every time it is refueled ' i am not intentionally overflowing the gas tank. It will stall multiple times after the refill. The rpm fluctuates regardless of when the last time the tank was refueled. I have been on the highway traveling over 50mpg when the engine kicked, rpm decreased, and i thought i was losing power about to stall. On nov 26, 2015 the engine stalled again. My two preschool aged kids were in the back of the vehicle. I couldn't quickly restart the jeep. We sat on the side of the road for a moment ' possibly 4 minutes ' waiting to try the engine again. It did restart and the entire ride home, approximately 3 miles ' the rpms fluctuated without my hitting gas or breaks. It then stalled in the driveway when parking. I didn't touch the car for two days, over thanksgiving holiday. When attempting to use it again, the rpm fluctuated but the vehicle did not stall. Instead, i was able to park the car and turn the jeep off and remove the key but the engine was still running. It was just a few seconds but it was running and i was looking at the key in my hand. My husband drove it an hour later to test it out and the jeep stalled again in the driveway.

Every time i refuel the vehicle sputters and stalls. No matter what grade of fuel. It will sputter and stall for up to 20 miles after i fill it up. It has even stalled when pulling into traffic and the steering wheel locks when that happens. It's not safe. The jeep dealership has been replacing stuff hoping to find a fix but no luck so far. It will stall stationary, moving, turning, or braking. I believe it may be something related to the fuel tank rollover valve. At least that's the only reasonable thing i have read or been told. After refueling my car, the engine will stutter or stall at the first stop or at leaving the gas station if the vehicle is going less than 40 miles per hours. This has occurred on more than 10 occasions, with the last one beginning at the stoplight before turning on to the freeway. This is a very stressful situation as it could easily cause a crash due to the engine failing unexpectedly.

After leaving a gas station and driving about a half of mile down the road, my car started to stall.i then had to put my car in park and completely turn it off and turn it back on.when i went to turn it back on, it did not start up right away.then the next red light that i stopped at, which was a half of mile after the first stop, my car stalled again.i then put the car back in park, put my flashers on and restarted the car.now every time i fill my tank to full the car stalls.it is very scary and when i took it to the mechanic, he said it would cost about $1000 to replace the gas tank.apparently, there is a valve that prevents the gas from leaking out if the car were to ever rollover.in order to fix this problem, i was told that the whole gas tank would have to be replaced.

After doing a full refuel of the vehicle the vehicle will stall while in motion, loosing all assisted steering and breaking.the first time this happened engine stalled in mid traffic and i was almost hit by the vehicle behind me on the city. Second time i reached the highway when it stalled this was even more scary.vehicle will restart after putting in park and stall again a couple of blocks down. This only happens when the tank is filed till gas station pump auto stops. If i fill 3/4 then no stalling occurs. I have read online that this is happening to many jeep patriot owners. Some claim that it is related to liquid fuel going into the evap canister and then being sent to the engine when fiecu expects fuel vapors.this issue can cause fatal injuries if engine stalls on the wrong place.

I was taking off from a red light and the jeep sputtered right after i took off but started right back up. This seems to be a common problem and do not want to make me involved in an accident.

In a car used only in city roads:- 21000 miles: power steering pump, gear and nuts (jeep covered)- 32000 miles: left ball joint replaced (jeep covered)- 45000 miles: right ball joint needs replacement (not covered by jeep)this has created a lot of additional charges not covered by jeep like alignment, tires, etc.jeep liberty was also recalled due to a similar problem.please consider this problem as from the current list of 37 complains for this car(including this) 24 are for the same problem i am reporting.

I bought my 2007 jeep patriot brand new and it has been nothing but problems ever since. Today is the final straw and something needs to be done to chrysler. Everytime i press the brakes to stop, my engine stalls out. This problems frequency seems to have increased since it is raining. My patriot has stalled previously throughout the years but they were isolated incidences or so i thought. After reading jeep forums online, i see this is a recurring problem which jeep is not addressing. This is a major safety hazard as i live in a highly congested area. Stalling on the expressway or in the middle of an intersection can lead to accidents and i am concerned about my safety.this isn't the only problem i have had with this car. Apparently its not uncommon to have to replace both lower control arms containing the ball joints at 30k miles. I have had to replace all four tires due to irregular wear and tear from defective parts. Even after an alignment, at high speeds the car vibrates harshly. The transmission struggles when accelerating. I perform regular maintenance on my car and should not be experiencing these issues. The dealerships won't do anything about these problems because they have not been addressed by daimler chrysler. This is unacceptable for any manufactured car. I cannot believe jeep gets away with all these safety hazards and nothing is being done about it.

Our car is shutting off on us while we are driving it. We have come close to several accidents both on the highway and on the freeway. The car has been to a "certified jeep dealer" several times. To which they tell me there is nothing that they can do. I don 't know if it is this new model or what the cause is.

2007 jeep patriot 4x4 with almost 37k miles needs new rear brakes and ball joints. Repair is approximately $1,000.this has never been taken off roading although it is "trail rated" .brakes and ball joints should not fail so soon and the consumer should not have to pay such a high repair cost.jeeppatriot.com and other sites have several complaints on the same issue.this could be a serious safety issue, especially if there were an inexperienced driver at the wheel!

Whistling sound when air is on (not necesarily ac).high pitched whistling sound is evident any time air is blowing on highest or next to highest setting.a little annoying...sometimes enough to move it to a lower setting just to reduce whistling sound.

Both right side speakers went bad on my 2007 jeep patriot trail rated. This is a known issue and there is even a technical support bulletin yet chrysler denied me coverage because the vehicle is out of warranty. When they havea tsb recognizing that the speakers are defective. This should be a recall.

Water appears to be leaking through sunroof, with inner dome light filled with water.potential electrical issue.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4.the contact stated that the daytime running lights cannot be manually deactivated.he stated that the lights were illuminated and he assumed that his tail lights were as well.he has been driving with no tail lights activated.the current and failure mileages were 300.

After refueling the vehicle will idle rough and stall. At first it occurred intermittently but now occurs after every refueling and will clear up after a few miles. This poses a safety issue because it will stall at a stop light or intersection.

When i fill up the car with gas after leaving and driving for 20-30 seconds and stop at the stop light or sign the car will die and the steering wheel will lock up takes a couple of tries before it will start up and cause the steering wheel locks up i can't even move the car to the side if i have to. This has been going on for the past year.

Much as we discovered with other complaints regarding the fuel/propulsion system on carcomplaints.com the issue is that when the vehicle is fueled up even if you stop when the gas dispenser clicks off the car inevitably stalls and shuts off just a few minutes after the car is started and in motion.the stalling can occur when you get out into traffic, on highway, city street which can be a very dangerous situation.this has happened 20 times, at least, in our 2007 jeep patriot since purchasing the vehicle in october 2017.this has been a very well documented issue in the 2007 jeep patriots and apparently has to do with the charcoal canister which in order to fix, the entire gas tank has to be replaced.

For several months, the car stalls after refueling and only after refueling. Once fuel is put in (and not "topped off" just regular filling up), the car will start but will stall several times in the first few miles driven. When it stalls, the steering wheel locks and it's very dangerous, especially when this happens on the highway.in looking at jeep forums, it seems to be a pervasive issue with jeep and chryslers and it was suggested that it's a problem with the fuel/vapor valve in the fuel tank.there is no current recall on this.i've had a the fuel pump and the fuel canister both replaced.this happens when moving only after refueling.after it stalls and i restart 3-4 times, it runs fine until i refuel again. As for when this happened, it last happened yesterday (1/6/16), but it happens each and every time i refuel.

Each time i fill the tank with gas and drive down the road the jeep shuts off and loses power instantly. I couldn't get it restarted. Now i'm right in the middle of the road in traffic. No power steering, stopped hard and suddenly. I could not restart the jeep. Several cars just missed from hitting me. I keep trying to start it meanwhile a truck is heading my way behind me. He slams on his breaks, yet a semi truck takes at least six car length to stop. He swerved to avoid hitting me thank god. Now i only put 3/4 of a tank of gas. It's frustrating to travel long distance due to having to stop for gas more often. The scariest thing is the huge chance of it stalling completely with no power and getting hit by other vehicles behind me. The impact of getting hit could kill people due to the harsh sudden stop. Is there anyway this can be investigated and recall the part causing this? this has happened to me three times. I live in a large city so most of the roads are freeways and highway. Speed limit is 65 to 70 mph.

When gas tank is filled up, the engine will stall or "surge" for the first few miles.after that the vehicle runs normal.i have researched the issue and have found that this is related to the charcoal canister located in the fuel tank.this has become an issue for a large number of jeep patriot owners and it is extremely expensive to have fixed by a dealer.

Car will stall after filling up gas tank, and there is a loss to all the driving components. No brakes, no steering, no power. Very dangerous. I have taken it to multiple mechanics and they say it is something in the gas tank, and the only way to replace it is to replace it is to buy a new gas tank. There are multiple forums with thousands of people with the same issue.please issue recall this is not safe.

Every time after i put fuel in my jeep, it will stall 2 to 3 times when idling or going under a certain speed. This gets extremely dangerous at intersections, especially when you're trying to turn and it stalls out mid-turn. The problem started sporadically at first, but now it happens every single time that i put fuel in my jeep. Before finding this site, i did a ton of research online and it looks like a lot of people are having this same problem with their jeep. Chrysler should look into this issue because it can be very dangerous.

Everything i fill up with gas the jeep dies pullingaway from the pump.sometimesyou can get out in trafficand it will die while travelingslow.you have to stop restart the engine and hold you'refoot on the gas andbrake to keep theenginerunning at a stop.could bedangerousif the jeepdies in the middle of a busy intersection.

After everytime i fill the fuel tank full of gasoline. After driving car from station, approximately .25 mile to 1 mile away. The engine will buck/shutter and stall while in motion at approximately 10-25 miles per hour. The engine experiences extreme loss of power with violent bursts of power. These incidents last ten seconds in duration. When attempting to merge on to highway, with heavy traffic, this can cause quite a bit of stress.this only happens after the fuel tank is filled full.

2007 jeep patriot limited 4x4 cvt. Every time the gas tank is filled up, the car stalls, bucks, and/or hesitates. After fill up, about a mile or less driving out of the gas station the car will buck and eventually completely stall losing power steering. This jeep had 122,000 miles on it, but this issue has occurred for every fill up since around 95,000. This is extremely dangerous as the car has stalled in the middle of intersections or in the middle of a lane. This sounds like the same problem that is mentioned on hundreds if not thousands of online forums. I've had the pcv valve, charcol canister, gas cap and 5 or more evap/emission parts replaced with genuine mopar parts and none of these replacements fixed the problem. This happens at any different gas station, different brands and different locations as well. The jeep stalling after fill up is extremely dangerous and puts me at risk of harm every time i left a gas station.

After refueling, the car will stall just after leaving the gas station.this usually occurs when i'm stopped at a light and the car is idling.if i'm not stopped at a light, i'll feel a stuttering or jerking motion about a block away from the gas station.i've just been dealing with it because the car always starts back up again.however, now i'm unable to fill the gas tank without the pump shutting off every half gallon.i believe the fuel inlet check valve may be the culprit.

The jeep patriot after filling up the tank gas idles strangely and turns off. I do not top it off and it doesn't matter which gas station i use. After i remove the gas pump from the tank i hear what sounds like a gallon of water bubbling/emptying. Recently chrysler issued recalls for this same issue with other years but it there is multiple reports including my vehicle which have the same symptoms. On several occasions i've almost caused an accident after leaving the gas station because the vehicle shut off.after re starting several times the vehicle functions correctly.i've isolated the problem to the gas tank:if i leave the gas cap off for 3 minutes while hearing the gas tank bubble after removing the gas nozzle from the pump the vehicle has no problem and runs normal without shutting off or idling as if its flooding/chocking.the gas tank recall needs to be expanded to previous years.

Vehicle stalls suddenly after re-fueling. This started happening a few weeks ago and now happens every time the car is re-fueled. It occurs a mile or so after leaving the gas station without warning in traffic. Defective fuel system problem is repeatable and dangerous. Get this recalled.

Stalls out, gas tank won't fill up, the cvt transmission has almost killed us more than once. Can't go over 40 without it overheating and whining.

After getting gas i starting driving towards the exit of the gas station. I only made it a few inches when my car started bucking and shaking really bad. My steering wheel locked so i couldn't turn my car out of the way from other drivers. I was also in drive and my car was just not moving. I decided to put it in park and let it sit there for a moment before i try to turn it on again. After about a minute i turn it on and move my car off to the side to get out of everyone's way. Once again the steering wheel locked and my car didn't want to stay on. Many minutes later after shutting it off and turning it back on i was able to drive a little ways down the road before once again my car started bucking really bad and shaking like it was going to shut off on a busy road. I decided to pull into a neighborhood where my steering wheel locked again and every light on my car came on (check engine, oil, tire, etc...). My air was coming out hot and my car smelled really bad. I decided to let my car sit there for awhile and finally after 20 minutes i was able to drive with no problems. I read up on this situation and it seems like a lot of people are having this problem with jeep patriots. I can't fill my tank up all the way because i experience these problems.

The vehicle stalls after filling-up the gas tank.the steering wheel will lock when it stalls, and sometimes the check oil light comes on.when you restart the vehicle, it runs fine until the next fill-up, and no light indicators stay on.it will stall if you are stopped or not accelerating.i have felt especially unsafe when it stalled in an intersection where i was waiting to turn left.all stalls have happened on city streets.if i do not stop within a mile or two of the gas station (like when traveling on the highway immediately after fill-up), it will hesitate / jerk very hard without stalling while the vehicle is accelerating.that is the only time it does not stall after filling up.i never top off the gas tank, and i always insure the gas cap is tightened.this is an ongoing problem, and i don't feel safe driving the vehicle for fear of causing an accident if stalling in an intersection.

Vapor/liquid separator valve.everytime i fill up my gas tank, within a few meters of the gas station my car begins to bucks and stall. Every single time! almost causing multiple accidents. This is an ongoing problem

Car has hard time starting after short time of being shut off. Company knows of this problem, it has instructions in owners m anual on how to restart car. Sometimes it can take a long time. This can put a lot of unnecessary stress on the battery. I believe this issue should have had a recall & be fixed by company. Please note: i'm not the original owner.

After refueling the vehicle will sputter and die causing loss of steering and propulsion. This causes a grave safety problem as it usually occurs while pulling out in an intersection putting the driver and all passengers at risk. This occurs for the first few miles after fueling and does not occur again till the next fill up. I am willing to demonstrate this for a nhtsa inspector if the are willing to investigate this safety issue as i see several others are having the same problem. Just search google.

After filling up the gas tank engine will stall

Unable to fill the gas tank without the nozzleclicking off. If small amounts of fuel are poured into the gas tank it will eventually fill. Had the car gone through and the only solution is to replace the whole tank because the valve is a integral part of the tank. Car has 35000 miles.

Vehicle stalls after refueling. With no power steering the vehicle is difficult to maneuver. This has happened the last three fill ups. The last was the worst because it was very difficult to restart and was in traffic. Engine sounded flooded. Had to let it set a few minutes before retrying. This needs to be recalled.

Fuel propulsion system problems. My son fills up his 2007 jeep patriot. I see from many post on forms this is a known problem. Why is chrysler not faceing this problem. You fill the jeep up and the the car stalls out and will stop dead in traffic this is so dangerous. What's being done about this why is the government not hold chrysler responsible for this. We have tried to different gas stations and now are being told that it is a known issue.

When i pump gas my car rejects the gas when i know it isn't full. The gas shutoff at the station will kick and not allow gas to pump into my car. 2nd, after pumping gas my car will throttle up and down and then shut off whenever i stop. I have to put the car into park and turn it back on and shift to drive. 3rd, after turning on my car, i try to shfit out of park. The car will not shift out of park and my brake lights are not working. I replaced the brake shift light about a month ago and it worked fine until today. Now once again, i cannot get my car out of park. The other 2 issues have been ongoing since september and i have been able to manager them and still drive the vehicle.

Vehicle will shut off and stall after refueling. Happens shortly after vehicle has been turned on. This has happened multiple times: sometimes will stall at the gas station, sometimes while waiting at a stop light after leaving the station, or sometimes while driving. Always after refueling.

I have had a problem with the engine bucking and even stalling after a full tank fill up.it usually buckles when i am moving and stalls if i am stationary. I have read numerous threads from others with the same problem. This is a safety concern because my vehicle has stalled in the middle of the road many times. Luckily i have not had an accident, but it's only a matter of time if it continues. It should not matter if this only happens to a hundred people or thousands. Lives are lives and they should be protected! please help us all encountering this problem. The cost is very high to replace a whole tank and many of us can not afford it. Something must be done about this because it is obviously a common problem. Please help us stay safe!

When i fill the gas tank all the way the car will go about 25 feet and start to stall and shutoff locking the steering wheel and i have no control of the car. If i dont fill it up all the way this is not a problem. It appears there are many people having the same issue as seen here. Https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498

My car's manual transmission died at 115,000 miles. I've had this car a year and am still paying it off. Now i have to pay another $4,400 to get my transmission replaced. I've been told by several repair shops and the dealer that i bought it from that this is a common problem between 90,000-100,000 miles with this transmission. Not only that, but the part that fails is permanent so you have to replace the whole thing and it's very spendy. Be very careful when purchasing used 2007 jeep patriots. You will probably have the same problem as i did. Very disappointed.

Stalls out, gas tank won't fill up, the cvt transmission has almost killed us more than once. Can't go over 40 without it overheating and whining.

I have a 2007 jeep patriot with just over 60,000 miles on it.i was driving when i heard rumbling under my hood.i pulled over to find that my engine was knocking really loud.i pulled the dipstick after a few minutes to make sure there was oil in the car.yes, there was an appropriate amount of oil.i change my oil every 3,000 miles and have always taken exceptional care of my vehicle per the manufacturer's specification.i had to have the vehicle towed to my mechanic who informs me that the engine needs to be replaced.after 60,000 miles the engine is shot?he can't offer an explanation of how or why this happened.i even called two jeep dealerships and each service manager was very surprised to hear of an engine failure this early.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 45 mph without warning. The vehicle was previously taken to the dealer for the failure where the contact was advised that there was a possible defect with the bearings.the vehicle was not repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact then notified the manufacturer but they offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

The hydraulic clutch system failed thus resulting in the inability to disengage the transmission without turning the key of witch results in a whole other realm of issues. Upon inspection there is no separate reservoir for the clutch it is connected to the brake master cylinder so potentially the clutch system could failand leave you no way to disengage the transmission and also no way to stop. After doing some online research this is a common complaint for owners with a manual transmission in this design platform.

Another vtec transmission went out...these transmission are junk i have had 6 different mechanics and from what have read on line do not buy a car with this transmission in it because they will go out !!!! i'm out another at lest $4000.00

Started as accelerator "flat spot."under very light acceleration (intermittent)engine will fail to respond and sometimes stay at a low rpm or stall. I have to release pedal and reapply or restart the engine. Now problem is more obvious with rain causing rough engine idle, erratic idle speed and engine stall.

Was driving two hours away for a medical appointment, and was just driving in the right lane. I was passing a vehicle in the left lane and had no power at all. The high pitch wine came from under the hood and the rpm were redlining at 65 mph. The transmission would not shift and the jeep just slowed on its own. The temperature light for the transmission came on. Pulling over to the median almost killed my husband and i. This is a dangerous vehicle to drive and go over 50mph. We had to sit on interstate 64 for an hour to let the transmission cool down. Something needs to be done before someone is killed from their transmission stalling or overheating going down an interstate, or just driving for any period of time on a highway. We do not fee safe in this 2007 jeep with only 70,000 miles on it. The transmission has already been replaced once and we were not even told that by the dealership!!! seriously deadly problem.....fix the cvt transmission. The dealership said we are sol even though we haven't owned it 9 days and now we are paying for a car we cannot drive or fix!

This is a one-owner 2007 jeep patriot 4wd with 86000 miles.the cvt transmission has gone out.the dealer has no explanation for the failure.of course the 3/36 warranty is up! dealer says they can only replace at a cost of $4500.how can a vehicle with only 86000 miles need a new transmission!

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4. The contact stated that the vehicle was being examined by an authorized dealer for routine maintenance and the dealer stated that both front lower control arms and ball joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred approximately 30,000 miles later. The vehicle was again repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was informed that someone would be working on the case. The approximate failure mileage was 34,516.updated 02/09/12*ljthe consumer stated the tie rods, transmission and the left and right lower control arms were replaced.updated 02/27/12

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4.while driving 10 mph, the vehicle rolled backwards when it was placed into neutral.the vehicle was placed back into drive and then shut off.the contact placed the vehicle in park once again and was able to be restarted.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were able to duplicate the failure.the dealer stated that the transmission was designed to perform in that manner.the failure mileage was 19,070 and the current mileage was unknown.

2007 jeep patriot 46,000 miles transmission is defective and it will cost 7,000 to replace-- chrysler 36,000 warranty go figure they will not really assist.

Entire front end of our 2007 jeep patriot needed replaced at only 57,000 miles. In addition this caused both brand newfront tires to wear aggressively and now they need replaced. It began with a clunking and popping in the front driver side tire 2 weeks ago.the issue only occurred when going over speed bumps at low speeds. The second week it happened after being at a stop and accelerating. I took it to the dealer who informed me that jeep patriots are known for bad u joints and front end assembly. They are replacing the bad u-joints with the same defective part!the dealer said it is good we brought this in because a front end failure was possible any time which would cause complete loss of control and an accident. I bought an extended 3rd party warranty at the time of purchase which will cover the repairs about $1,200 worth of work. I still have to buy 2 new tires. This is a major issue with jeep patriots. I called and filed a complaint with chrysler.

At an oil change and inspection in early december 2010, the jeep dealer told me my front tie rod ends and control arms needed replacement. Everything else was fine. My 2007 jeep only had 32k miles on it, so i finally got them to pay part of this.two weeks later, while i drove my car to the dealer for the repairs, the car started "jack hammering".it was as if the brakes were being pulsed on and off hard.(my foot was not on the pedal and i was driving 55 mph)the dealership told me next day that my front brakes were fried and loaded with rust, and unsafe to drive. I paid them for the repairs.a week later, the "pulsing" recurred, and then a rear brake locked up.i had to get those rotors, calipers and pads replaced too.my problems continued.i had jeep look again.they could not replicate the problem. The problem is infrequent, but i continue to have a lesser pulsing sensation and a dragging sensation, like pushing a shopping cart with a bad wheel. Two days ago, i took my car to an independent shop.they couldn't replicate the problem, but told me my new tires (less than 5k miles) have already been damaged by this brake problem.they also pointed out how extremely rusty the axles and axle nuts are.so rusty, you can't tell they are nuts.i am driving around now wondering if my wheels and hubs will fly off the car at any minute because there is no metal left to hold them on. Why would these parts rust so badly, and so quickly?why would the dealer put brand new rotors and calipers on such severely rusted axles and nuts without telling me?don't they care if i'm safe?i have since found out from researching this, that others have the same problems with premature failures of control arms, brakes, etc. Due to rust.i also found out t jeep is not (has never) notified me of recalls. Aren't they required to do that?then again, they sold me a brand new car without the federally mandated mulroney sticker, and lied to me about the mpg.

Seat slider & ball joints jeep patriot 2007 4x4 & rear suspension---reported seat coming out of locked position after having to hit break a little hard in forward and also happened in reverse. Made 3 complaints to the same dealer and finally had it replaced. Reported to same dealer about noise in the front and rear of car, after having to replace all 4 tires at 19,000 miles because they were bald. Dealer said nothing was wrong however young lad that installed tires said ball joints were loose and rear end was seized. Never been off road and commute to work is 10 miles one way on expressway. Included is complaint about tires, goodyear 205/70r16 all season. Lasted 19,000 miles and all were bald. Rotated every 5,000 miles and because they are the only ones that make that tire size besides dunlop had no choice but to replace them with the same as i'm canadian here and dunlop is not readily available. Other alternative was to buy all new rims and tires in 17". Am currently fighting with chrysler to fix the suspension issues since the dealer was aware of it well within the warranty period. I encourage everyone to report problems here and to the head office of the company and don't give up until you receive satisfaction. They ask for us to bail them out, then show responsibility and use better quality parts to build the product.

The jeep patriot has an issue with the abs ecu programing.when the abs wheel speed sensor faults the ecu detects it as a wheel speed change. Activating the abs brakes.unlike every other car when the sensor is faulting it should just simply turn off the abs system and display a fault code. This is dangerous and almost caused me an accident when the brakes started activating on their own.

2007 jeep patriot, new tie rods at 24,000 miles, had to change all of the disc brakes due to rust and cracking at 48,000 miles, told by our mechanic that it was unsafe to drive.at our last vehicle inspection on 07-01-2011 we were told that it needs new ball joints since they were cracking, the car has less that 60,000 miles.

Jeep began making clunking sound when turning.informed that lower control arms with ball joints in the front need to be replaced.had this happen on a previouly owned jeep liberty but that was repaired via a recall.this is the same issue on a similar vehicle.have seen that there are many similar complaints regarding this issue on patriots with relatively low mileage.the manufacturer should issue a recall as this is the same issue they performed a recall on for a previous model.a failing ball joint poses a serious safety risk.

Https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498

I was driving my car and the front end started to shake all over the road.i took it to my repair shop where they informed me that my lower ball joints need to be replaced immediately due to being excessively worn out and in a dangers condition.

Ball joints needed replaced after 36,700 that was exactly 700 miles over warranty. Now tires are shot as well because of the ball joints. Took it to dealership they replaced now patriot is out of alignment.

I started noticing a vibration and steering wheel shimmy.i took it in to get new tires and alignment.i was told (and shown) that both front passenger and driver side lower ball joints were bad and the front outer tie rod on the drivers side was bad.i was told that with only 41100 miles on the vehicle the parts should not be bad.i was quoted a price of around $1000.00 to replace the defective parts.they could not do the alignment because of the defective parts and now i have a vehicle with $700.00 worth of new tires sitting in the driveway.i have an appointment at the dealership in two days.i purchased an extended maintenance plan when i purchased the vehicle.we'll see if the dealer honors the agreement.i decided to investigate and have found numerous others who have had the same problems as i.i purchased the vehicle new and it's only been driven on paved streets and highways, never "off road".

2007 jeep patriot - 58,000 miles - never been off road - highway driven 90%have to completely replace front components - ball joints / tie rods, etc.rear wheel bearing needs replacedtold by mechanic we were lucky we didn't have an accident - they were that bad.can't believe jeep has not been forced to recall and fix this terrible problem.

Problem was isolated ona routine oil change.i had noticedhandling problems coming down hill and applying brakes earlier in the month. Dealer says both front tie rod ends are shot, as well as lower right ball joint and control arm. They want $600 to repair it.i have researched this and it can cause rapid tire wear, or loss of control.the failure is apparently endemic with jeep patriots, as i have found many complaints from other owners as frequent as every 12k miles on the jeep patriot online forum.some owners have almost lost control of their car. Some owners have reported multiple failures.i have never had a car which required a tie rod or control arm, let alone at 32k miles.this vehicle is supposed to be a rugged off road vehicle, and i have yet to take it off the road.so why did it fail so soon?if this faiure occurs this frequently, and if each occurence carries a potential loss of control, wouldn't that be a serious safety hazard?

While having tires installed on my 2007 jeep patriot, the technician advised me that my ball joints were bad and that it was imperative to get it fixed as this is a safety issue.being a female and not wanting anyone to take advantage of me i took my jeep to get a second opinion.the second technician told me the same thing and that i could lose steering at anytime.they both quoted me somewhere in 1,000 dollar range to fix my jeep.i have gotten online and read several forums with the same complaint on the patriot.seems like chrysler needs to be notified of this serious safety issue with its product. *ln

Car purchased in wi and driven in tx.car has been taken regularly to mechanic for maintenance for front suspension problems.at 77k, two outer tie rods and two lower ball joints replaced, at 133k, replaced one lower ball joint and one outer tie rod again.at 136k replaced inner tie rod. At 143k replaced two front control arms.currently, both control arms and outer tie rods need to replaced again, current mileage is 198k.mechanic has reported noise coming from front suspension and has noted heavy amount of rust on the front cross member.structural integrity of the metal in front cross member is weak and further compromised if driving in areas where salt is used to de-ice road.in addition tires have needed to replaced each time due to uneven wear resulting from this problem.car is main driven in city environment.

Premature failure of tie rod ends on 2007 jeep patriot. Have replaced two (2) outer and one (1) inner tie rod end in 33,000 miles of purely on road use. Tie rod ends are not serviceable and are inadequate to the task. The first failure was noted at an annual motor vehicle safety inspection at less than 24000 miles.

Excessive wear in both the left and right lower control arms/ball joints was detected during routine maintenance of our 2007 jeep patriot.due to their condition, it was not advisable to drive vehicle.vehicle had 45,061 miles on it.though this is a known issue with jeep patriots, chrysler would not pay for repair since repair was not performed at dealer (it was not safe or feasible to get vehicle to dealer).after having this issue with the patriot, i had my 2009 jeep compass inspected.at 31,000 miles, signs of failure where found in the right lower ball joint. Somethings needs to be done before a fatal accident occurs

2007 jeep patriotinterior water leak from map lights and a posts after rain or washing.evidently a major problem with jeep patriot and other jeep models.so far, no recall, but dealers can not fix it.once there is enough water inside on the floor boards and in head liner the mold problems begin.when moving the water comes through the map lights and a post like a waterfall, splashing on dash and seats, etc.

My 2007 jeep patriot continues to leak water from the interior.after being into the dealer 3 times in still leaks water from the front interior dome light, left and right front pillars.water leaking into the car has caused electrical shortages in the sunroof, radio, and switches in the door.

Dealership sold me an unsafe vehicle, ive only had the car for 19 days and my mechanic noticed a major issue. My cross member is completely rusted out.

Discovered the rear portion of the engine cradle dissolved by rust

Suspension creder car frame rest

Sunroof leaks during/after heavy rain, putting car through carwash.water puddles on floor well of drivers seat and floor well of passenger behind drivers seat. Issue started in 2009.leaks happen while in motion or standing still.

Water appears to be leaking through sunroof, with inner dome light filled with water.potential electrical issue.

The sunroof on this vehicle is leaking into the interior this can create and electrical fire due to water dripping in the middle console and the vehicle can stall or catch fire due to shorting.there is a known tsb pointing out to a hole on the vehicle body yet it is only a tsb this should be a recall as it is something simple to fix.

The roof of the vehicle has some serious issues.i've had severe leaks when it rains from the dome light.chrysler is aware of this issue that is caused by bad drain tubes and poor design. Yet they've only issued tsb's and not a full recall. Water gets all over the dashboard and could cause an electrical fire due to shorting.

1. Went into firestone for oil change, and to look at my tires because i thought they were loose.2. Front control arms and ball joints are messed up, which caused severe damage to inner tires to where the wires inside the tire were showing from the outside.3. Had to replace control arms and front tires.

Purchased this vehicle in may of 2012. Vehicle makes large rattling racket when going over any type of dirt road/brick road and a clunk when going over large bumps (speed bumps). Have taken to mechanic several times - turns out the large clunk was the ball joints...they were completely worn at 48000 miles which in turn changed the alignment of my wheels - as well as after driving it a mere 10000 miles made both front tires completely bald.

Had 2007 jeep patriot 4x4 with 59,000 miles in for 4 new brakes.was told ball joints are also bad and need to be replaced immediately to avoid a catastrophic accident.over $1300 total repair.also recently replaced all 4 tires.this is a known problem that could easily prove fatal and should be recalled immediately.

After having a shop aligned my vehicle twice due to uneven tire wear.i took it in to the mechanic and asked them to check the front suspension. Mechanic was amazed at the poor condition of the front suspension due to the low mileage of the vehicle and the fact that it has never being off road and only driving on highway.he said in 25 years he had never seeing a front suspension so loose and requiring full replacement of lower control arms, ball joins, tie rod ends.while doing a tire rotation they also noticed excessive rust on hub and axle nut.explained this could be a fatal safety issue and my wheels could fall off.chrysler knows there is an issue and even issuetsb to torque lower control arms to try toband aid the problem.mechanic stated that the quality of these front suspension parts it's inadequate for this vehicle. Chrysler has recalled the same problem on other similar models but even with 100's of reports online and over 50 reports on this site they refused to admit that front suspension components are failing a very low mileage.what's it going to take for tires to start flying off and people to due to the poor quality of these problems. After the warranty is over chrysler wont do anything about it and they should at least meet the owners half way, rectify the dismal quality of the parts and pay for the parts while customer pays for labor.this is dangerous and will cause fatal accidents. How can a vehicle that was designed for "trail rated" off road used by rusting apart and having these major suspension issues under non off road use.

Bought my 2007 jeep patriot in august of '11. Took the vehicle to a mechanic on december 6th for routine oil change. He informed me that the ball joints and control arms would need replacing immediately to ensure the safety of my vehicle. We bought the vehicle with 29,000 miles on it, it is now at 34,000 and two months after the limited warranty has expired.

Lower ball joints failed on 2007 jeep patriot with 38,000 miles.

Normal, routine driving with vehicle that had less than 36,000 miles and the ball joints failed, they were replaced before warranty ran out later that month.

I am from canada and own a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4. I only use my vehicle for highway driving and never take it off road. I only drive it with care. Recently, i brought my jeep to a dealership because of a strange noise. Through a service, it was determined my lower ball joints were excessively worn to the point of being a safety hazard. They needed to be immediately replaced in addition to the control arms. This cost approximately $1000 cad. In reading over the internet, this seems to be a common manufacturing problem with issues across the board. There has never been a recall. There is no way the ball joints should be needing replacement in a vehicle that is only 3 years old with normal driving use. Had i not brought my vehicle in for a service, this would not have been discovered and would possibly have lead to a serious accident. Jeep needs to address this problem immediately before someone gets hurt.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot. The contact stated that the lower ball joints were damaged and causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The dealer was contacted who advised that they were aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not contacted. I noticed a clunk in my 2007 jeep patriot, when turning or going over bumps. I brought the car to the dealer (grava chrysler jeep dodge) and was told the lower control arm/ ball joints on both sides have failed, and the vehicle was unsafe to drive after only 21,112 miles. Front ball joint replacement on a 2007 jeep patriot with 26300 miles. Jeep was neve off-road. Just out of warranty and fighting with jeep to get reimbursment. Just cost me $760.00 to replace both ball joints.

Due to the design of the ball joints where there is no grease fitting the ball joints failed and caused massive misalignment. This also cause tires to go flat due to uneven wear and ruined the front suspension of the vehicle.

2007 jeep patriot 4x4, lower ball joint failure noted at 38,700 miles, 14oct2010.

Two front end lower ball joints gone bad at only 39,000 miles; had to have replaced out of pocket for safety reasons.

Ball joints needed replaced after 36,700 that was exactly 700 miles over warranty. Now tires are shot as well because of the ball joints. Took it to dealership they replaced now patriot is out of alignment.

Normal, routine driving with vehicle 41,000 miles and the ball joints failed, along with lower control arms.

Went to go get my jeep inspected, upon inspection my vehicle had failed due to the tire being loose and the outer tie rod needing to be replaced. Went to the dealer the next day and had the tie rod replaced. Went back to get my vehicle re-inspected and again failed for the same reason. Went back to the dealer and was told that the ball joint and control arm was bad. Both of these problems are hazardous to the owners driving them. Someone is going to get seriously hurt if not killed while driving this vehicle and the front suspension gives out.

Lower ball joints on 2007 jeep patriot shot at 45,000 miles. According to three mechanics who saw the problem, the problem is severe and i've been advised to either not drive the car or immediately repair the problem. Each mechanic said the ball joints should not go at 45,000 miles and noted several issues with chrysler and failed ball joints. While on a lift, one mechanic showed me how my two front tires can simply be moved side to side. That should never happen i was informed. Very dangerous as it can cause the wheel to fly off the car. I've been hearing noise and feeling tire shakes for awhile now. Thought it was my brakes..which by the way also need replacing however i am being advised to spend my money first on the ball joints since it is an immediate major safety concern. Not feeling very safe, especially with my two children in the car!

Ball joints/control arms on 07 jeep patriot are a safety issue. My car will not pass inspection because they are flapping in the breeze. I have to somehow come up with 1300.00 at xmas time for my car to pass, and i have no clue how. This is a known issue. All you have to do is type "07 jeep patriot ball joint) in a search engine and you will see many of complaints/issues. There should definitely be a recall on this for safety reasons.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Somethings needs to be done before a fatal accident occurs

The lower control arms of my 2007 jeep patriot had to be replaced in january,2010 . I was told that my tire could fall off - funny because i have all my service work done at the dealership - they replaced them for about $125 as a courtesy - never mentioned a possible problem during any prior visit - 39,000 on jeep.

Ball joints need to be replaced at 43,000now need new tires because of the ball joints. Found out that need entire new control arms in order to replace the ball joints.

On 08/12/2011 my wife was driving from ct to mass on the highway to pick up our 3 year old daughter at her mothers, when suddenly the jeep started to shake.on 08/13/2011 brought car to mechanic and he said ball joints had to be replaced immediately, and the car was unsafe to drive.he said she was lucky the wheels didn't fall off.08/13/2011 called dealership, branhaven in branford, ct and found a recall but it's vin number specific, and does not match our jeep.dealer suggested call chrysler direct for assistance...chrysler said the car needs to go to dealership to be diagnosed.now will cost more money that we don't have.this seems to be a typical problem with 07 jeep patriots, the car is 4 years old with less than 60k miles..this is not an off road vehicle.this type of problem needs to be addressed by chrysler immediately.fortunately no one has been hurt.

2007 jeep patriot with 26,000 miles, purchased new from dealer.noticed tires worn and went to mechanic to replace two front tires.i was informed that the lower ball joints and control arms needed to be replaced at they were loose only after 26,000 miles of light driving, never off road.

I had read about the problems with the ball joints on the jeep patriot. I indeed checked the balls joints and they are cracking at only 32000 miles look like the balls joints of a 100000 car with 10 years of use. This is a known problem that is defective from the manufacturer.how can a car that is known as trail rated not be able to take normal pavement use with so little miles.chrysler needs to put arecall for it. Before they have safety issues and get bad publicity from it like what happened to toyota.

I just had my vehicle serviced and was told that my lower front ball joint has failed prematurely.i noticed that this isn't an isolated problem, plenty of jeep owners have similar issues. I'm just out of my warranty, and chrysler jeep will not identify this as a problem.

The mechanic repaired the tie rods, but not the ball joints. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 43,000.updated 9/13/11 updated 10/28/11

Due to the design of the ball joints where there is no grease fitting the ball joints failed and caused massive misalignment. This also cause tires to go flat due to uneven wear and ruined the front suspension of the vehicle.

2007 jeep patriot. Consumer writes regarding problems with control arms, ball joints and sensors having to be replaced.*tgwthe consumer was informed two different types of metals were used and when put together, it caused corrosion. Also, all four tires had to be replaced.

Whistling sound when air is on (not necesarily ac).high pitched whistling sound is evident any time air is blowing on highest or next to highest setting.a little annoying...sometimes enough to move it to a lower setting just to reduce whistling sound.

Transmission and axle shaft area makes a whining noise as if gears are failing. The previous owner did not know what was causingthis so i do not know when the pronlem actually started! i have also noticed on newer jeep patriots the year 2015 the rear passenger sides abs/wheel speed sensor goes out as well as wheel bearing failure which started at 30,000 miles. Please fix these problems it seems like thses where not made well for the 44 feature as you display it to be capable of. Please fix these problems! thank you! my 2007 makes popping noises during right turns the whole undercarriage has been replaced and the problem still exists!

The car was shifting hard into gear, more like a manual, instead of smoothly shifting. Sometimes there was a delayed start when starting the engine. This occurred for several months and was taken in to the dealership to be examined. They replaced the intake manifold and flash pcm. The dealership kept the old part.

Stalls out, gas tank won't fill up, the cvt transmission has almost killed us more than once. Can't go over 40 without it overheating and whining.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated. The vehicle was then stopped and shut off. Upon restart, the electronic throttle control light was illuminated. The failure had occurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic stated that the failure was due to the electrical system and the vehicle would have to be taken to a dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified and they offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 74,000. The vin was unavailable.

It began to rain so my girlfriendturned on the wipers only to find that shehad no wipers. They will turn on sometimes, but only on the highest setting, yet at a less than minimal speed. We thought it could be a loose connection or something seeing as our vehicle is only 4 years old, but when we went to the jeep dealership to fix it they said that there was nothing wrong with it the computer that they hooked it up to said it had no problems. Well guess what it still does it so what are we suppose to do about it now?

My 2007 jeep patriot continues to leak water from the interior.after being into the dealer 3 times in still leaks water from the front interior dome light, left and right front pillars.water leaking into the car has caused electrical shortages in the sunroof, radio, and switches in the door.

I was driving my car and the front end started to shake all over the road.i took it to my repair shop where they informed me that my lower ball joints need to be replaced immediately due to being excessively worn out and in a dangers condition.

I began to hear a humming sound from my rear wheel after doing research jeep patriots are experiencing a tremendous amount of wheel bearing failures at low mileage. The dealer does not have the part in stock and they've superseded the part number 4 times, which tells me that chrysler knows there is an issue and has been unable to re engineer the wheel bearing correctly.upon inspection the wheel bearing hub it's completely rusted, frozen and unable to extracted from the spindle. Almost every jeep patriot, compass and caliber has had to have the bearings replaced at very low mileage.the amount of corrosion on the hub for such a low mileage vehicle it's unacceptable. A recall needs to be issued for this issue before wheels start falling off causing major accidents .
