The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact received a notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags and electrical system). An appointment was scheduled and the dealer stated that the recall repair was completed; however, the contact felt otherwise. The contact had not experienced a failure until the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The air bag warning light illuminated shortly after the dealer's repair. One dealer indicated that the dtc flashed and the module was not replaced. A second dealer indicated that the air bag module was replaced. One of the dealers contacted the manufacturer to order the part and the contact was still awaiting the repair solution. The manufacturer was notified. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
Cluster light came on prior to having the recall for nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 completed.i took in the jeep to have the recall completed, but it did not solve the issue.i was informed that the occupant restraint module was defective, and not covered on the 2012 jeep liberty recall, only the 2011.the estimated price to replace the module is $580.00.i have seen multiple other reports from 2012 jeep liberty owners who are experiencing the same issue.i believe the recall should be expanded to include the 2012 model for module replacement, and not just reflash.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact turned the vehicle off and back on, and the system reset itself; however, the failure recurred. The contact was able to use an obd diagnostic tool to diagnose the vehicle, but was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. An unknown local dealer was contacted and determined that there would be a cost to diagnose the issue. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,280.
I was involved in an accident in my 2012 jeep liberty when another driver pulled left i front of me to make their right turn into a parking lot. My truck drove over hi and on the way down struck a parked car and flipped over on to its hood. The entire interior caved in directly on to my head and not a single air bag deployed. I was hospitalized and was already handicapped so this exacerbated my injuries pronouncedly and the increased pain, both physical and mental, led to my wife leaving, loss of employment, family, you name it and it's been lost because of this accident. When you see pics, you'll understand why paramedics were shocked i was alive at all. -[xxx] (1st 2 pics are exterior, 3rd pic is of my driver's seat itself and how i managed avoiding being split in 1/2 is beyond me.)information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).see also odi 11053500. *dsy
Air bag light came on at 30,000 miles. Took vehicle to dealer and they stated thatocr unit faulty and not covered under warranty.
Back in november i received safety recall n38. To date there has been no remedy for this problem. I am concerned with the amount of time that is lapsing without a resolution to this problem.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp remained illuminated after the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags, electrical system). The contact mentioned that the dealer only reset the head restraint and did not flash the tipm or replace the occupant restraint control module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and refused to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
Airbag warning light on dash is permanently illuminated. The vehicle was taken and tested at my local jeep dealership where they advised that the ocr module was faulty and would need replacing at a cost of over $440. Although there is a current recall on some 2012 jeep liberty regarding active head restraints and some models requiring replacement of the ocr module my vehicle was not on the list for replacement of the module.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated the airbag warning light sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the oic module needed to be reprogram. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 60,000.
Air bag warning light started continuous display at about 43000 miles.dealer indicated this was covered by safety recall n38/nhtsa 13v-282. Called jeep dealer for appointment in mid-july 2014. Dealer indicated that it is probably failed orc module. Research indicated this was a common issue on this model jeep with numerous reports of failure of orc.took vehicle to dealer on 28 jul 2014. Dealer did not replace orc but "flashed" tipm at no charge. Did not resolve air bag light issue.dealer indicated i would have to schedule another appointment for diagnostics and possible orc module replacement. Scheduled another appointment for 4 aug 2014. Orc module replaced.issued resolved. Was charged $326.53 for replacement of orc module. Dealer indicated that while this has become a common failure, this replacement was not covered by chrysler for 2012 jeep liberty. I feel that since this is a serious safety issue for all 2012 jeep liberty owners experiencing this issue, chrysler should reimburse for this expense.safety recall n38 indicated "chrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor) including replacement of occupant restraint module (orc).
Air bag is on and won't go off. It's been on since august 1st 2014. I want this fixed before it's blows up in my face or one of my family members. If that happens then there will be a lawsuit.
I have had my jeep liberty for a few years now. It has never been in an accident. I parked my jeep in my driveway for the weekend no lights on at that time. I get it it to go to work on a monday morning and my airbag light is on but only for my passenger. I don't understand how this could happen and with so many complaints why is there no recall set forth!!!!! i have not fixed it because airbag problems could be costly and if i was not in an accident to cause this problem then this should not be my problem to fix!!!
The airbag light has gone on and off when driving then went back on and has stayed on.the car was making a humming noise and hesitated on acceleration. Had to replace fuel pump due to barring lose, replace spark plugs - cost $787.00

Jeep died while driving on the dash it said no fuse then my battery died also my alternator i still haven't been able to fix it because i don't know where to look we took it to a mechanic and he replaced the alternator 5 times and still has issues
About 75,000 miles, the air bag light came on while i was driving. It flashed and went off, then came back on. Was diagnosed as occupant restraint control. Dealership told me it was already recalled on older vehicles, but not this year. I am submitting this report to hopefully fix this issue. Chrysler needs to be held responsible for defective parts. I have owned this vehicle since it was new, so i know that it has never been in any wrecks or had any reason for this to be an issue.
Air bag light is on. Was advised that clock spring needs replaced and that air bags may not deploy in a crash.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags, electrical system) to the dealer but was informed that the recall remedy would not repair the air bag warning light failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
Airbag light came on.i took it to the dealer.dealer said it is not covered under any recall and therefore will cost me ~$600 to repair.the manufacturer should repair faulty airbags free of charge.
Noticed red warning light symbol on dashboard (seated icon with red circle in front). Looked it up because i had no idea what it was. It had been going on and off for a few days but today it stayed on 100% of the time. Was involved in accident a few months ago (other driver drove into my right front wheel causing right hand to be pushed into center (airbag region) of steering wheel (hand went into center piece of steering wheel and there was no airbag deployment. It looks like issue has to do with car and possible reason for no airbag deployment at time of accident.
I started my 2012 jeep liberty 4 days ago and the airbag light stayed on.why would a 2012 jeep have this problem, i purchased this vehicle when it had 29,538 miles on it. It now has 39,300 miles on it, so it is out of warranty and my extended warranty does not cover this issue with the airbag.i don't have the $95 to diagnosis this issue, the $95 is only for diagnosis. I hope there will be a recall or something for this issue soon.as of right now, i have no airbag system.
The contact owned a 2012 jeep liberty. While being driven highway speeds, the vehicle was involved in a front end collision and rolled over. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. Don davis dodge chrysler jeep (1901 n collins st, arlington tx) was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v640000 (seats, air bags), but the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The airbag warning light stays on.this vehicle was never in an accident.the light just came on and stayed on when the vehicle was started. An appointment has been made to have this checked, but after investigating online i have found multiple complaints about this. I wish jeep would cover this as it seems quite expensive to repair.
At around 40k miles the airbag light in the dash came on and would not turn off. When we took the car to get it inspected it failed inspection due to the airbag light and the mechanic told us we would have to take the car to the jeep dealer to have them diagnose and fix the issue. We took the car to the dealer and they said the issue was the orc module and it would have to be replaced and it would cost $650. This part was recalled on the 2011 jeep liberty and i have read a lot of complaints online about this part on the 2012 liberty. We have no choice in replacing this part or our car will not pass inspection and our only option is to take it to a jeep dealer to replace.
While i was driving on i-70 e, i noticed that the vehicle approaching me from behind, was traveling at a high rate of speed so i swerved to the right shoulder and the other vehicle swerved to the left lane and then back across the right lane over to the shoulder and struck my 2012 jeep liberty on the drivers side from the front to the rear probably at a speed between 60 - 75. With that impact i received whiplash & injury to my left arm, left hand, neck & shoulder.i did not received a recall notice n38 until late december 2013 and the accident occurred on september 3, 2013, so i called chrysler and told them about the accident and asked if this recall could effect the air bag from not deploying, the lady didn't know and said she would file a report.i received a letter stating, "while the purpose of the air bag is to deploy when the major direction of the impact is from the front of the vehicle towards the back of the vehicle" & "the vehicle damage may lead you to believe that the air bag should have deployed, how ever, this can be deceiving." it also stated that large amounts of fender or sheet metal damage indicate that the crumple zone in the front of the vehicle did their job and as aresult the air bags were not needed.so i placed two different calls to chrysler dealers and also went in person to one and ask them "if i didn't get this recall fixed, (which the recall notice had not been sent out when the accident happened) if it could cause the air bag not to deploy," and all three of the men told me yes it could cause the air bags not to deploy or something even worst, which the one man stated "it could even kill you."i believe as hard as i was hit, and with the injuries i received, that the air bags should of deployed and maybe i wouldn't have been injured as much.it has been over 4 months since the accident and my injuries are still present.sincerely
Orc module needs replacing passanger air bag light stays on all the time
At about 75,000 miles, the air bag light came on while i was driving. It was diagnosed as ocr module failed. Dealership told me it was already recalled on 2011 liberty, but not 2012. I am submitting this report to hopefully fix this issue. Chrysler jeep needs to be held responsible for defective parts. I have owned this vehicle since it was new, i take very good care of my car, there is no reason for this to be an issue. Recall the ocr module on the 2012 liberty.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign id number 13v282000 (air bags , electrical system) and stated that the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. The dealer was unable to provide an expected date for the remedy part. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The contact had not experienced a failure. Updated 4/28/14
Takata recalli have been told by the jeep dealerships that they have not been given the product needed to replace these defective airbags in my car. I do not feel safe letting family members or myself drive this car with the potential of the faulty airbag deploying. We need this car fixed because we need it to drive.
Turned on ignition. The air bag light flashed on and warning indicator caught my attention because the airbag warning light went on and stayed on.
Air bag light stays on. Dealer says it is not part of the n28 recall.
The airbag warning light came on my car one morning when it first started.a few days later i took it into the dealer and was told that the module occupant restraint had failed and needed to be replaced.the repair cost $390.after doing a bit of research online it appeared that many other people reported the same malfunction with the exact same model year around the same millage... Updated 09/30/15
While driving car, the airbag light came on.instructions in owner's manual states to take to dealer immediately for repair.called dealer and have appointment on august 12.
Takara recall, believe air bags didnt deploy in accident.
Active head restraints recall, i got this recall almost a year ago now, and never got the second notice of parts being available to fix this issue. I see other people have also had this issue. Could this possibly be why my air bag light is constantly on?? when is the recall going to be addressed?
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds she noticed that the air bag warning light had illuminated for the front passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and they advised her that they were unable to diagnose the failure and also informed her that there was a weight threshold for the front seat. The manufacturer was contacted and a representative was sent out to investigate the vehicle. After diagnosis they reported that they were unable to diagnose the vehicle either. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. The current mileage was approximately 53,036.
Airbag light came on when vehicle was started. Dealer states today (11/24/17)the issue is with the airbag control module and the unit needs to be replaced.
I bought this car in october 2015, with only 27,680 miles on it and i'm already experiencing issues with it.last week the airbag light came on out of no where.when i took the car yesterday to get the recall fixed, the tech. Told me that the light stayed on and that it had nothing to do with a recall so it would not be covered.he also said that this was a module (not sure what that is) but if i wanted to fix it i would have to pay a deductible because it is not covered under warranty.my second issue is the driver's side window control buttons do not work properly, i literally have to pull really hard to get the window up.now i know that from reading other complaints, this is a common issue in this car, i just don't want to experience a fire in the panel or any other malfunction.is there something that can be done, i feel that i shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for manufacture issue that are not wear and tear.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the heater box did not produce heat. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician replaced the heater box. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer assistance. Additionally, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 13v282000 (electrical system, air bags) and 17v640000 (seats, air bags). The failure mileage was 85,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Started up the car around 8/24/2015 and the red airbag light came on in the middle of the dash. It remains on at all times while the vehicle is on.
Airbag light came on, won't go off. Took it in the jeep dealership they ran a diagnostic and said that the orc module had to be replaced to the tune of $437 plus taxes etc. Knew that was going to be the diagnosis because of all the complaints on the internet about the 2011 and 2012, apparently it was ok for the 2011's but isn't important enough of a safety issue for the 2012's, when it is the same issue as the 2011's and it truly is a safety issue.
The air bag light stays on randomly
2012 jeep liberty.consumer writes in regards to air bag alert light malfunction and active head restraints recall notice.the consumer stated the air bad light recently illuminated. When she went to the dealer, she was informed the recall did not apply to her vehicle. However the vehicle did need an occupant restraint control module, which was not covered under the recall.
Airbag light on dash lit. Dealer says ocr unit faulty and not under warranty. $521 to repair.
2012 jeep liberty occupant restraint controller 2 module has an internal failure and needs to be replaced to restore air bag functionality air bags will not deploy until fixed every other year jeep had a recall for this except 2012 the air bag light is on in the dashboard at all times there was a recall to reprogram the tipm module but not to replace the orc module.
I've been driving my jeep around to work and home everyday and i notice the passenger air bag light flashes where it says it's off. Today 2/17/2013 i drove 100 miles from a small trip and the light was on the entire time i was driving. I haven't had any accidents.
Started car in the am on the way to work and after 10 minutes the air bag idiot light flashes and stays on. It is going on 10 days and the light is still on . I will stop by the dealer tomorrow 5-10-2014 to see what is needed and if the car is safe to drive.
Airbag warning dash light stays lit, all of a sudden. Vehicle miles approximately 46000. Vehicle has never been in an accident.
The airbag warning light appeared on the dash and remained lit while driving.the vehicle was taken to a chrysler jeep dodge dealer where the n38 recall to repair the active head restraints was completed.after which the airbag warning light remained lit.after diagnosing the problem, it was determined that the occupant restraint control module needed to be replaced.the vehicle is out of warranty and there is no current recall on the orc module however, this is a safety issue which should be covered by the manufacturer.fca usa llc was contacted regarding the issue and reported that unless the vehicle was under a third party service contract, chrysler could provide no coverage on this safety matter.in addition to the two most recent safety issues (the n38 recall and the orc module), this vehicle also had an additional safety problem in march 2014. While driving on the highway, the vehicle completely shut off.after towing the vehicle to a chrysler jeep dealer it was determined that the pcm (the cars computer) had gone bad and needed to be replaced.although the car was under warranty at the time, this was still an additional safety issue.this car was purchased new from a certified chrysler jeep dealer and has had no major accidents or water damage and has been well kept with regular scheduled maintenance.
Airbag warning light is illuminated because occupant restraint controller has failed
Air bag light came on and remains on. Took it to dealership and they charged 75.00 to tell me the orc module is faulty and not covered under warranty. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. There are hundreds of complaints on this issue. Also heated seats do not work. Clock stays 2 minutes behind.
The airbag warning light was on and remained on every time the vehicle was on.i took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that there was a recall on the active head restraint but that the issue causing the warning light to be on was due to a fault orc circuit.the service advisor informed me that this was not covered and that i had to pay $500 to have it repaired.i went online and noticed this is a common issue with this vehicle.so the options for the consumer is to pay to have it fixedor risk your airbag not deploying.this is a huge safety concern if someone does not have the means to pay $500 to replace the faulty circuit.this should be considered a defect and a recall posted for this orc circuit.

After starting my vehicle and putting it into reverse, my airbag light came on.it is now staying on solid and is not blinking. I called the dealership where i purchased my jeep, and they told me to schedule an appointment and they could get me in to make sure it is not an issue of a rabbit or a rodent chewing up the wires, and then they will decide if its a safety issue. But in the meantime all in one breath, they told me my vehicle is safe to drive. There was not, and has not been anything in my passenger seat since almost 24 hours ago.

All my lights are on in dash(check engine, tire pressure, traction control, abs) when this happens my ac doesn't work...the gauages doesn't work. Test done by mechanic say communication failed...
Lakeland, fltwo days ago my airbag light flashed on and then stayed on. Yesterday took it to lakeland dodge dealership and was told the ocr module wad bad and it would cost around $700.00 to fix.
Airbag light is on constantly. Dealer claims that the orc module is bad, but it is not covered by the recall (n38) that states that "jeep will ... Replace the orc module free of charge". The vehicle is less than 2 years old and has not been subjected to any abuse or damage.
Occupant restraint controller (orc) module failed. The air bag warning light remained illuminated while the vehicle was in operation. Electrical over-stress of a resistor in the occupant restraint control moduledriver's side power master window switch (pmws) failed. The power window failed on drivers side and also a door lock failure.
We are being charged for an orc module because this particular year makeand model only qualifies for a tipm reprogram, although makes and models of the previous year and latter years qualify forfree orc module replacement and tipm reprogram. We are now being charged $375 for something we had no control over.

Passenger air bag light wont turn off from dash board and light from under the radio. No issues as far as airbags deploying.
Turned the car on and the airbag light came on. Stayed on the entire time i was driving.
Air bag light stays on. Same issue as the 2011 jeep liberty that was covered under a warranty.same exact error code but jeep refuses to cover under recall for the 2012 model.

My air bag light has come on, and remains on, for no reason. No accidents, large pot holes hit to cause any possible electrical malfunction. The air bag has not deployed. It appears to be an electrical malfunction.
Need orc module replaced due to a recall t56. Ran my vin number and it states there is a recall and parts are available. Went to dealership and they state there is no parts available for my jeep and will not be available until april 2018. Why is nhtsa stating there is a part available? i was told with this recall there is 14 different parts and my part cskdt562aa was not available.so am i going to have to risk driving my jeep and pray i do not have a wreck? i have had a cervical fusion and very afraid to drive my only vehicle. Someone needs to step up and do something even if it takes loaning me another vehicle.
The airbag light came on while driving.we later received a recall notice for the airbags.we took the 2012 jeep liberty to spitzer jeep in brookpark oh on november 5, 2014.they called later that day and said they were fixing the recall issue, but the airbag light was on because the module needs replaced and as of now the airbags are essentially "offline" meaning they will not deploy in the event of an accident.they said it would be $350-$400 to replace.one would think chrysler would handle any issue with the airbags given they have thousands of vehicles with airbag issues.we do not have the money to currently fix this and so are having to risk safety over cost.
Air bag light came on, will not go off. Taking it in to dealer, told not a warranty item. Online forum indicates this is a common problem from a defective component, what if someone cannot afford the $1000 repair?
Air bag lights stay on continously.manufacture date 10/2011.suspect clockspring since jeep wrangler has this problem.

The air bag warning light stays on all the time.

The airbag warning light came on and stayed on.i received a recall notice on the head restraint.i took my vehicle in to the dealership. (champion dodge chrysler, gulfport, ms)they said they repaired the defection on the recall notice with the head restraint.i told them about the air bag warning light has been on since jan 2014.the manager said "well this head restraint recall may fix that problem too"i went to pick my car up and it did not fix it.he asked if i wanted to have it fixed and that it would cost around $300-$400.i told him no, this should be on a recall, he agreed but said it hasn't come out yet.my question:if it's a safety issue on a 2012 model why isn't it a recall?does someone have to be injured/killed before you issue a recall?
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v640000 (seats, air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Towne chrysler jeep dodge ram (5130 camp rd, hamburg, ny) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The vin was invalid. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Airbag light came on at about 38000 miles and has remained on ever since.presumably i would have no airbags in a wreck.i'm writing because i read that the nhtsa was looking into the 2012 liberty for this exact issue.
Airbag light on dash illuminated while driving on highway. Dealer says control module faulty (located center console) and not under warranty. Just over $500 to repair.
The orc module and the abs modules both failed and had to be replaced. The dealership couldn't tell me why so i had to replace out of pocket. The airbag and break lights among other lights were always on and also the door locks would randomly trigger to lock and unlock. The speedometer would also not work at times. These problems would happen when the vehicle was stopped or in motion and on any type of road.
Moon roof that came with the car not weather resistant. Entire roof came off during a drive
36000 miles the air bag light stays on. The service rep at the dealership says the airbag module needs to be replaced and it's not covered by the extended warranty. The cost to repair it is $468. How can a car this new need a repair like this so soon?
Around 91,100 miles the airbag light came on the dash board upon starting the car. The light stayed illuminated constantly for approximately 3 days until it was put in the shop. This car has never been wrecked. I was told by jeep dealership that occupant restraint module was out. I had it replaced for $491.15 with parts and labor. This really bothers me. I have two small children in the car so of course i wanted it taken care of...but after reading how many complaints there are i feel that this should be a safety recall.
My airbag light came on and will not go out. The dealer checked it and said i need a new occupant restraint module. It is my understanding that this is a common complaint for these cars. Is there a recall that covers this problem?
Safety recall n36 (nht#13v-282calls for flashing tipm & replacing occupant restraint control module. This vin was not included in the recall, so when i took it in today (srs light on) , the charge was 400$. Why was this vin not included when others (ka, kk, etc, not kx) were. Seems fairly related.
Defective occupant restraint control module.there is a problem with this module and fca knows about it and has recalled several vehicles to replace the orc except this one.it is well documented and many complaints of failure.our 2012 jeep liberty's airbag warning light came on at about 37,000 miles.we thought the n38 recall would fix it but it only did an update.the dealer advised us the orc needed to be replaced at a cost of $400.we do not have the $400 at this time.contacted fca and they basically said they would not replace the defective part and cannot guarantee our airbags would safely deploy during an accident and from what i read it does not guarantee it won't deploy inexpectantly while driving.
My airbag light is on in my dashboard and doesnt go away. I also got my vehicle serviced because my check engine light was on and one code that came back was because of my headrest .
Three years ago my daughter was driving my jeep. She had a front end collision with a building. The air bag did not deploy. She literally drove inside the building.now my current complaint is that suddenly the airbag light is coming on and going off randomly.
All of the dashboard lights are on. Speedometer, odometer, gps, automatic door lock, remote start, cruise control, none of that works. Tire pressure warning lights are constantly flashing different pressures. Everything lights up upon starting and stays on while moving until it's turned off. This initially happened when i was driving on a highway, and my first reaction was that i didn't have any brakes. It was quite frightening. Subsequent to that the lights would go on and off intermittently, but after a few months they are now permanently on. The dashboard also makes a ping noise every minute or so.i purchased the car in 2017 and this had not been a problem until a few months ago.the known danger is in not knowing how fast i am going.the unknown danger is could the brakes at some point not work, or if i become involved in an accident will the air bags not deploy or will the engine at some point just stop running.i have been told it could be a faulty tipm.i also have a 2008 jeep liberty that does not have this problem, however it suffers from the same dashboard random ping noise.
My daughter was run off the road in her jeep liberty on a highway going about 70mph..she hit a guard rail and rolled the jeep.the only air bag that deployed was the steering wheel one and it only came out after she stopped rolling.none of the other airbags deployed!!!thankfully she is only bruised all over her body.her seatbelt is what saved her.luckily that worked.i have contacted jeep about this and haven't heard back yet.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the orc module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
On 3/25/14 i took my 2012 jeep liberty to my dealer planet dodge located at 9975 nw. 12th ave. Miami, fl 33172 to fix the recalln38 (air bag).i was informed by letter that the active head restrains (ahr) on my 2012 jeep liberty may not deploy during a rear end collision. As a result, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard. The only feasible solution for this problemis to replace the module that controls the air bags. Unfortunately chrysler group llc is only replacing the module to the 2011 jeep liberty free of charge unlike the 2012 jeep liberty, which the costumer has to pay for the same labor. The only authorize procedureto "fix" the problem is to "reprogram" the module, not replace it, which didn't fix the problem because the air bag light is still on. I'm extremely upset with this situation because chrysler group llc is notcomplying with the requirements of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act, putting at risk the safety of my family.

Air bag light stays on.concerned because jeep has a history of airbag problems.

The manufacturer was notified and confirmed that the parts were to become available in april of 2018. In addition, the passenger side air bag indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
Air bag warning indicator lamp lit.
When driving through town the dash lights up completely with all the warnings coming on and the wipers turn on and won't turn off.the warnings include the brakes and airbags.this has happened 3 times in a few days.we had it diagnosed and they said it's the tipm module.this jeep doesn't even have 100k miles yet and there are tons of reports of this issue online.
Last week the airbag warning light stayed on.i called the dealership and made an appointment.on 28 oct, the dealer stated that there was a recall to fix the occupant restraint module; however, there was no part available to fix it.i went online and researched n38 recall.it seems that this was released on july 2nd (bought the car july 5), and according to chrysler recall would start in august.i never receive any notification about this recall.it is now oct and so far there are no parts to fix this issue.i can be rear ended and airbag would not deploy due to this issue!
Started my 2012 jeep liberty and started to pull out, airbag light came on. As i pulled from a parking lot onto a street the drivers side airbag deployed. No accident or collision of any type.
Air bag warning light came on when car was started. Accordingly, air bags will not deploy if in an accident.
The airbag warning light came on 2 weeks ago when i started in up in the morning and will not turn off.i'm worried about my family's safety.
At 55000 miles( 7/29/14) my air bag warning lit on my dashboard and stayed on and continued to remain on until i brought the vehicle in to a chrysler dealership on august 5, 2014. I brought the vehicle to my mechanic who told me through his experience when that light comes on, the vehicle is experiencing complete shut down of the air bag system! now, i received a recall notice a month or two prior from chrysler that 2011-2012 jeep liberty's were being recalledfor possible airbag failure and that chrysler would replace one of two control modules and update the computer system at no charge. On tuesday august 5, 2014 i brought the jeep liberty to a dealer which told me all my vehicle required was a computer update but they couldn't update the system because a module for the airbag system had to be replaced which was causing the red airbag warning light on my dashboard to come on and stay on steady. To fix this it would cost me $371.00!!! after arguing with the service manager he made the cost $100.00 plus $7.00 state sales tax as a co-pay as if it was a warranty repair. It felt as if the only way to have this problem fixed was to pay money as if my car was being held hostage or is chrysler and its dealer trying to take advantage of me because of my age. This total repair should have been paid by chrysler, not me. What is this? some type of scam chrysler and/or their dealers have going?
Airbag light came on while driving. (this is first time) then it went off for a few minutes and came back on again. Concerned that airbag could blow up in my face while driving!! also received recall notice for head restraint and then a notice that dealer will contact me when part is in. That was over 3 months ago!!!

The manufacturer was aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Im writing to see if my vehicle still qualify for the recall and the jeep is experience all the descriptions that are posted.
Air bag warning light is on. Jeep would not stand behind this in a one year old vehicle. They wantme to pay $400 to repair and told me that i am in danger. If i don't repair then the airbag will not deploy in a collision. Since this is a safety item i think jeep should correct at no cost to me. Also, the back window wiper stopped working and changing of fuses did not correct. I am assume electrical and maybe the airbag thing is also electrical.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. The dealer stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags, electrical system) for the tipm replacement. The contact was informed that the occupant restraint control module also needed to be repaired; however, it was not eligible for repair according to the recall because the vehicle was a 2012 model. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Was hit on drivers side, hit and run my insurance was used. Had to send to dealer two times and get towed 2 times.had

It happened a few times but the last time she was turning at a light and when keys swung the ignition shut off causing her to lose power steering and she hit another vehicle.the ignition is very touchy - just by barely touching the keys it shuts off.i am afraid for my daughter's safety driving this vehicle.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,556.*consumer stated we discovered i may have had some small item in the front seat that turned the light on & it was not the fault of the car. Updated 11/01/18
Approximately july 1, 2014, my 2012 jeep liberty showed an airbag warning light on the dash display. The light will not go off.on july 3rd i took my jeep into a local jeep dealership to have a safety recall performed.the recall was for the active head restraints to be reprogrammed.the reprogram did not correct the display light warning. I was told that the vehcle would have to be hooked up to a computer to tell me what was causing the airbag warning light to display but the cost was $85 for the diagnosis only and there would be additional costs for the repair. The vehicle has not been repaired.
Called dealership august 1st for the recall on head restraints. I have an appointment for the 8th. The next evening when started my car the air bag deploy light stays ondashboard. The light by gearshift flashed at first and said air bag for passenger side not on.i saw another complaint at 43,000. Miles with same issue on this site.
Air bag light is on and is in "limbo" will not deploy if in accident
Just turned over 49,000 miles and the airbag light came on? bill marsh dealership said it was the orc sensor?they said it had a recall but looked it up and it did not help so now i have to pay over $540. To get a new sensor!
The airbag light is constantly on. Started at around 40000 miles. Dealer told me it's 500 to replace the ecu for it. No warranty coverage and chrysler won't help. I find this really disturbing since it's a safety item. I had a 2004 mazda 3 with over 200,000 miles and no airbag ecu problems.
In august 2016 at 39000 miles while in motion on a highway the air bag warning light came on and wouldn't go off. I looked up the issue and found hundreds of reports of the issue and found the recall for the orc module. I took the vehicle to frisco chrysler dodge jeep ram in september 2016 and they pulled the code, flashed the device, but this did not fix the issue. I was then told that i would need to pay $550 + labor to have the part replaced. I declined the repair because i knew it was part of a recall and i was not going to pay for it. In april 2017 i was rear ended and the airbags did not deploy and i sustained injuries. The body shop that repaired my vehicle pulled the code and printed out the recall information for me and stated it was indeed the dealership's issue to fix for free under the recall specifications. A few days ago i took the vehicle back to the same dealership, recall printout in hand. The service advisor that assisted me, whom also was the service manager, stated that they would look into the issue and if they couldn't do anything regarding the recall he would personally contact chrysler to see if they would be able to do anything for me. I was told i would be called the next day, never received a call. On the second day i received a call from the service tech stating that it would be $550 + labor for the repair and it was due to an internal fault with the orc module. I stated that i was not paying for the repair due to it being under recall. I advised that if the issue wasn't remedied that i would file a lawsuit on them & chrysler and that would cost much more than replacing the part. After ending the call the same tech called back 45 minutes later & demanded i pick up the vehicle if i wasn't going to pay for the repair. I now have my vehicle back with the air bag light still on, & cannot register my car, won't pass inspection with this issue.
The airbag module gave our at 51000 miles. Reading the internet this is a common problem on jeep liberty 2012 models.yet the jeep corp refuses to come clean on the matter.collection well over $500 per customer for the module and installation at the dealerships
When i began driving today i noticed that the airbag warning light was illuminated on the drivers side in the electronics cluster. There has been no damage to the vehicle and the light just randomly came on and has remained on.
There was a recall on the liberty so i took it to the dealership and before april 26,2015 the airbag light was not present the liberty was backed into at a high speed and the airbags did not deploy. The company that repaired my car after the wreck told me the airbag light was on, the airbags tried to deploy but malfunctioned. They fixed the light i guess by resetting it. Now 5 monthslater the light is back on for the airbags and it will not go off.

Submission from constituent re chrysler recall notice.2012 jeep liberty.the consumer received recall notice 13v282000. However, the dealer informed there were no such recall. Also, the consumer was having an issue with the vehicle not wanting to start, intermittently.in early june, the vehicle would not start. The dashboard lit up, but there was no noise, no clicking, nothing. He made several attempts, but it would not start. After the sixth try, it started. The dealer was unable to replicate the problem. The consumer stated it happened again, multiple times.
My air bag light has come on, and remains on, for no reason. No accidents, which could possibly cause any possible electrical malfunction. The air bag has not deployed. It appears to be an electrical malfunction. Also, the clock seems to run two minutes slow every month.
I was in a wreck 3/24/2014 ,i was driving on the interstate when i was hit on the left side of the driver door and back left door behind the driver seat. I saw the car coming towards me at a angle when i looked over to see if i could change lanes, she hit me and the car started to roll over..from that all i remember i woke up bleeding severely from 7 inch cut to my head. I was then transported to uab trauma unit for several days.i have injuries to my cervical neck/spine and shoulder . I am still suffering from the trauma fromptsd.i was called several times after my wreck about the recalls on the head restraint...restraint control (orc) module must be replaced. For 2012 model kk vehicles: the totally integrated power module (tipm) must be reprogrammed... Updated 08/21/17
A few days ago the airbag malfunction light turned on upon starting my vehicle. Not sure what this meant, i took it to my local jeep dealership in clear lake, texas. When i dropped my car off, the man said it would not be ready today. It took clear lake dodge a full 24 hours to complete this fix (and that was after begging the manager to have my car ready on time, they were going to push it back another day). On the recall form it said should only take 30 minutes for this fix. I received my car and the car was presumably fixed since the warning light was no longer on. However, when i get home, i realize my garage key had been stolen from my vehicle. This was a disaster, and i did not feel that my safety was valued as a person much less a paying customer at clear lake dodge.
Vehicle dash light for passenger air bag remains illuminated with and without a passenger present. Remains illuminated driving and stationary. The center console below the radio indicated that the passenger air bag is off. Took it to the dealership where they ran a system diagnostics. Fault 17612 failed orc 1.00. Dealership recommended the orc be replaced. Price quoted was $358.69. Only drove the vehicle for 2 years and the mileage is at 17,612.
Recently i took my 2012 jeep liberty in for a recall repair on the active head restraints. The airbag dash light has been on for about a month and a half, and it hasn't really bothered me until today.i was called by rancho jeep/dodge during my recall repair today, and the mechanic took a very aggressive sales type persona regarding me fixing the airbag light, which he quoted me at over $400 for everything. I said no, and he persisted to try to sell me on fixing this light. I also work in sales, so i was very well aware that he was following some company instruction to push hard to get me to fix this issue.then i noticed there is an open investigation regarding exactly this problem.i also read the below articles and found that many people are currently having issues with airbag failures on their jeep liberty vehicles. Please get chrysler to fix this, it seems they may even be following poor business practices by trying to get customers to fix this issue by spending their own money before a recall is issued by nhtsa.http://www.carcomplaints.com/jeep/liberty/2012/seat_belts_air_bags/airbag_light_on.shtmlhttp://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/07/26/426557128/fiat-chrysler-hit-with-record-105-million-fine-for-safety-defectshttp://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/recentinvestigations
It came on about 50 thousand miles. Car never been in an accident. Only driven to work. There are 3 kids in that car on daily basis. I can not trust the car from what i hear everyone else complainingabout the air bags.
I have a 2012 jeep liberty limited 4x4 andthe airbag light will not turn off a couple of months ago it will come on stay on then turn off but all of the sudden it just stayed on all the time. I have called the dealer and chrysler to tell them about the problem but since i didn't buy the extended warranty they want to charge for me to take it in and for them to get a code. I feel like it's a safety issue and they should take care if the problem .the car has not been in an accidentor anything like that i don't see why they can't take care of that problem.updated 09/25/15*ljupdated 11/22/2017
The airbag light on my 2012 jeep liberty came on right before i received a recall notice for the active head restraints. When i picked the car up from the dealer after the repair for the recall the airbag light was still on. I was told it was a separate and very costly issue- the orc module needs to be replaced. I was given a 100% guarantee by the service manager that my air bags would not deploy in an accident. After looking up the issue online, i found a vast number of complaints for the orc module for my make and model. Many individuals complained that their air bag light came on at the same time as the active head restraint recall. Clearly, this car has major safety issues with the whole air bag system in general. There need to be a recall. If i am in an accident before i am able to afford to fix this issue and my air bags do not deploy, i will sue the company for everything they are worth. At this point, it is straight up negligence that will end in fatalities.
Module controlling the airbag system non-functioning. Airbag warning light in instrument panel stays lit.

Air bag warning light on in instrument cluster
Started the jeep one morning and the airbag light came on and has been on ever since.
On 3/29/13 the airbag light came on the dashboard and i took it to the dealership received a loner and they called me the next day saying the car was fixed. They conducted: 1) multi-point inspection, 2) replaced the orc module, stated 3) that there was in fact an electrical issue which was an internal failure in the vehicle. Nhtsa has now forced the manufacturer to issue a recall and in the notice, all the notice states as a remedy is repetitive of the work the work done on the vehicle in march. In addition, if the manufacturer does not have the parts as stated in the notice, how could they have fixed the problem in march then? my vehicle is defective and no one has come forward to reassure me that upon collision the airbags will deploy and there won't be any such mechanical failure as stated in the recall.

The head restraint recall in my 2012 jeep liberty will not correct the warning light that seems to be an epidemic in this make and model.this orc module replacement that was covered by a recall in the 2011 model is still an issue in the 2012 but not covered by recall.why does chrysler still continue to sell vehicles with huge tipm failures?disgusting.
We bought the 2012 jeep liberty last year and the airbag light came on randomly last week when i started it and hasn't turned off. I called the dealership and they said it would be $125.00 to diagnose the problem then more money to fix it. After researching online and not having the money to fix this issue i am afraid that the airbags might deploy while i am driving.
Air bag defective and had to be replace.
I was on major interstate in birmingham ala.car accident i was hit on left side and my air bags did not deploy. And my car rolled . I had a call back on my head restraints .?

Air bag warning indicator light came on for no reason.

Vehicle was parked and turned off. Car alarm sounded due to loud vibration noise nearby. When went out to car to reset, the dash light indicated rear gate lift open.checked gate and it was securely latched, as was the window. Reset alarm and went back inside. I was notified again that alarm was sounding and had to turn the alarm off completely. Kept getting warning that gate lift was open which it was not.interior dome light kept coming on. Started car and shut it off after several minutes..gate lift indicator still showing up.finally gave up and ignored it after having opened and shut gate and separate window latches several times.the light finally went out after several hours...neither the gate or the window were ever found to not have been secure.
The instrument cluster lights intermittently turn off, sometimes just a 1/4 of the rpm gauge, sometime both 1/4 of rpm and mph gauge, sometimes half of one, none of the other, sometimes 3/4 of both, sometimes all of mph and rpm gauge.it is totally random what will be illuminated and what won't be.digital compass displays only dashes, no direction.windows will roll down (power windows) but will not roll back up unless you turn off the jeep and turn it back on
Driver's side lock flutters up and down rapidly every time the car locks even when the engine is running.makes a loud and startling noise that is dangerous when driving.sometimes the door gets stuck from the inside because of the lock issue and the driver cannot exit the vehicle from that side.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the anti-theft system was disabled, but the technician could not diagnose what was causing the electrical failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the rear gate light remained illuminated and the alarm sounded when the vehicle was locked. As i was driving all the lights on the dashboard start to flash, the vehicle stalls looses power radio turns off, i waited a few seconds change the gear to park turned off the ignition turned the car on and it drives ok. It has happened a few times as i am driving in the hwy very dangerous
I was coming home from work, as i turned onto my exit there was a pop sound and then it started hissingand smoking.i slowed down and pulled over and got out of the vehicle.it started to smoke, caught on fire and burned totally up before my eyes. I have only had this vehicle for six (6) months.
After driving the vehicle to my destination and shutting it off. It will not restart when i go to drive it to the next location .this has happened numerous times. It has left me stranded a couple times. While driving the vehicle to a location the headlights seem to dim on their own. After having a mechanic look at it. I was told it was the tipm causing the issues.
Nothing major yet..there is a problem with the tipm,my jeep just went over 50,000 miles and now i have this that is out of warrenty.because this problem is out there and no recall for this defect and am going to be forced in trading in,i do not feel safe with all the sudden issues.chrysler ignoring this problem,i will not by another chrysler product.i have my grandchildren ride with me often and i am concerned. Thank-you.

The "gate" light in my jeep liberty came on while driving and would not go off, even though everything was securely shut.as a result, i was unable to lock my vehicle because the alarm would sound.the interior lights also stayed on during this time, which was a hazard when driving at night as it directly affected my ability to see outside my car.i have done some research on this issue and do see that it appears to be a common problem which may be caused by faulty rubber trim around the rear hatch window.the rubber allows water to get in to the latch and eventually ruins it.i recently had the gate latch assembly replaced, which did resolve the issue,.
My air bag light has come on, and remains on, for no reason. No accidents, large pot holes hit to cause any possible electrical malfunction. The air bag has not deployed. It appears to be an electrical malfunction.
Jeep died while driving on the dash it said no fuse then my battery died also my alternator i still haven't been able to fix it because i don't know where to look we took it to a mechanic and he replaced the alternator 5 times and still has issues
"takata recall"this vehicle is a saftey hazzard unsafe due to abs notification system and causing brakes to drag and lock up. I purchased this vehicle at a so called 5 star chrysler jeep dealership and it was put on the lot with bad breaks that where metal to metal and a bad electrical system.i had to purchase new breaks which are being damaged due to abs malfunction causing the hit an miss causing the breaks to over work against the rotar drag and lock up.i was coming home on hwy and had to apply my breaks the break light came on and my breaks locked and i swerve off road to keep from rear ending another vehicle and shut off engine. This is a safety issue vehicle is unsafe and should not have been sold without breaks and electrical system being checked out.

Passenger air bag light wont turn off from dash board and light from under the radio. No issues as far as airbags deploying.
It starts with locking the doors and the horn sounds off and the lights stay on inside the car and the rear gate lite comes up on the dash,it also has a remote stater put in the car by them, that does not work at times ,they replace the switch 2 plus change the wiring that leads there.ps its been in the shop a view times already.
The radio keeps skipping while playing the radio, cds and during bluetooth.
We had issues with car not starting all winter, but could be jumped. We bought a new battery & it worked well for a while. Then wipers started turning on randomly & over head lights would turn on. Then the car wouldn't start again, turn the key over & it started. Then it died again & every thing worked bit it wouldn't started, so we jumped it. I barely got home because it would barely drive. It has been parked in the driveway since with a red light on control panel on. Fuse box looks fine. It only clicks when the key is turned & the dash goes crazy.

Cluster backlighting random instrument backlight goes off or flickers
While driving , all warning light lid up on the dash board and the car just die out on the road.
Interior lights in dash flashed on and off, radio went off and came back on.upon stopping for traffic light engine stalled, put car in park restarted car.this happened twice today(8-18-2016).interior lights flashing on and off has happened 5 or 6 times in the last 3 or 4 days, stalling has only happened today.
2nd occurrence., lift gate light came on the instrument panel app 4 days ago, made sure door was closed. Light remain on. Then today, horn sounded while car was parked in my secured garage. I have contacted the dealership. They require a fee to put on dianostic machine. Then $200 for a lift gate sensor which they claim may not remedy the issue plus labor! i don't have money to waste on maybe's.
For the past few months i have had electric issues with my car; i.e power doors lock/unlock doesn't work at all, back windshield wiper doesn't work, windows will not roll up, and dimming/flickering of interior/exterior lights which are all due to a faulty tipm. Which i have been informed is a very expensive fix. As of today as i was driving with cruise control on my car had a mind of it's own and accelerated to a higher speed revving the car up to 4000 rpms on a flat straight road. I tried to turn off and cancel cruise control on the steering wheel with which did nothing. I then pressed the break several times and again nothing. After having a complete panic attack and trying everything i could to turn cruise off it eventual went off on it's own. I have been made aware but other individuals having similar electric problems all caused by a faulty tipm. This is a very dangerous issue and there needs to be a recall. Is it going to take someone dying for chrysler to care?
Last week the airbag warning light stayed on.i called the dealership and made an appointment.on 28 oct, the dealer stated that there was a recall to fix the occupant restraint module; however, there was no part available to fix it.i went online and researched n38 recall.it seems that this was released on july 2nd (bought the car july 5), and according to chrysler recall would start in august.i never receive any notification about this recall.it is now oct and so far there are no parts to fix this issue.i can be rear ended and airbag would not deploy due to this issue!
When problem starts wipers go on dash lights come on dash gauges do not workno speedometer ac defroster heater do not work brakes do not work rightheadlights go out no blinkers no lights on inside of carcar says no bus wherethe gear selecter is dash they have replaced the tpn 3 timesand the wiring cluster 4 timesthey brought in specialist from detroitto work on this car and can not figure out what is making this car do this they keep saying it is the tpn or the wiring cluster after replacing several times it still doing the same things
Starting two years ago, after a rain, when parked, upon locking my car either manually or with the key fob, the alarm goes off, interior lights illuminate and the dash states the gate is ajar. Repeatedly open and close the gate with no remedy. Have to leave car unlocked and usually the interior lights go off after a few hours. Related is the gate occasionally fails to unlock as well as unable to open the rear gate window. And the rear wiper continues to stay on after being turned off. All appear to be related to moisture somehow affecting the lift gate electrical system. Have taken to dealership three times, first two under warranty and dealer advised unable to find problem. Third time after warranty expired, advised they would need to replace seal at cost of $600. Declined repair.
Tamara recall locks stop working on remote key and inside on door panel 1 day later the window washer in the front stopped working. Took it to the dealer they informed me it is the tipm which will cost 1200.00 in doing more research there is a class action lawsuit for my vehicle on this part and chrysler has not recalled it. It is very hazardous to drive with no windshield washer especially after it has snowed out
At around 40k miles the airbag light in the dash came on and would not turn off.
I locked my vehicle and the alarm started going off.went out to see what the problem was and it shows gate on the dashboard.i checked the gate lift and it was secure.i locked it again.a few hours later the alarm went off again.i couldn't lock it anymore without the alarm going off.while driving i cannot have the dash lit up because all of the inside lights will be on as well.after reading another complaint i assume that it is probably the same issue he had and it is the latch.i just purchased this vehicle the 17th of september and my 90 day warrenty has expired as of 1 week ago so i am going to have to pay to have this repaired.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. Im writing to see if my vehicle still qualify for the recall and the jeep is experience all the descriptions that are posted.
All my lights are on in dash(check engine, tire pressure, traction control, abs) when this happens my ac doesn't work...the gauages doesn't work. Test done by mechanic say communication failed...
My driver's side door to my 2012 jeep liberty caught fire. Thedoor started to smoke once i started the ignition. I smelled a burning smell and then i notice smoke coming out of the driver side window seal. I pulled off to the side of the road, and turned off the ignition. I notice the smoke continued to worsen even though i turned off the ignition. The smoke became small flame quickly. I crawled to the passenger side of the car to exit.i called 911 the fire dept was dispatched to put out the fire. Once they got there they removed the battery cables from the battery under the hood sprayed the whole entire jeep inside and out. Its was scary to know something i work so hard to have and pay for caught on fire like that. I can't believe that i was driving around in something that was a fire hazard and unsafe. Thank god i survived through something so dangerous.all of this took place on a city street. I wasn't able to recover much of my belongings because of all the water that was usedby the fire department to put the fire out.
Doors will not lock , with either the button or fob, and automatic lights occasionally do not work. The mechanic said it was the totally integrated power module and would cost @ 1100 to replace. This is 2nd time it has to be replaced . @ 2-3 years ago the horn kept beeping and the tipm had to be replaced
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. While driving various speeds, warning lights on the instrument panel inadvertently illuminated and the instrument panel lighting dimmed. In addition, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the multi-functional electrical system module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (electrical system, air bags). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.
Tipm issue. All dash lights come on. All gauges drop to zero except fuel gauge. Ac stops working. Car still runs and is drivable, but you can't see your speed limit. I feel this should be recalled as this could potentially be very dangerous. This can happen while stationary or driving. Issue seems to come and go, but problem sticks around more than not.
Februray 26, 2012 8;30 am .i had been driving jeep liberty for about 2 hours, parked in parking lot, went shopping , started up,and wasdriving my jeep liberty and notice smoke in the vehicle then i noticed a burning yellow smoke and flames coming from my drivers side door control panel , as quickly as i could i stopped jeep intoparking lot , at that time my windows where malfunctioning and the vehicle was fully engulfed with yellow smoke ,turned vehicle off could not get seat belt unhooked, turned switch on put in park and then got seat belt unhook pulled keys out of ignition climb over to passenger side door to open door and then opened driver side door and threw snow and water on door to put fire out.. . stood there in shock for a moment, second time i drove wifes vehicle and it caught on fire5 months old!!! noticed that the smoke in the vehicle was starting to dispensed and clearing out . Noticed window switches had melted and sank into door, burned fingers openening driver side door. Reached in and turned key back on ,at that point the vehicle started to smoke again , threw the window and speaker of drivers side door ,turned key off threw more water in door panel and again smoke slowly dispensed .i was moments from entering a interstate and the thought of what would have happened to myselfif i would have not been able to get off the road in time !! i have been a master mechanic for 30 years and have never seen such a thing happen in any type of vehicle before.i took vehichle to dealer ,jeep chrysler was contacted ,dealership monkeys acussed me of jamming some thing in switch, what a bunch of crap.. Jeep said they could not do anything to claim it on my insurance !!!!!! dealer ship is trying to force jeep too look at problemthis vehicle is only 5 mos old and this should have never happened. I'm glad to see this problem regesterd with you... Updated 08-20-14updated 08/21/2014
Back in november i received safety recall n38. To date there has been no remedy for this problem. I am concerned with the amount of time that is lapsing without a resolution to this problem.
Car wouldnt start; when finally did, pulled out to road, couldnt get it to go past 35 mph, pressed gas pedal, even tachometer wouldnt go faster; couldnt get any getup and go; pulled to side of road, put in park, tapped accelerator few times, wouldnt accelerate; afraid to shutdown, so started out on road (45 mph speed), car wouldnt accelerate past 35, finally got home; shut off, wouldnt start again. Calling dealer. Looks like others have similar problem. Engine light came on, red light under it flashed then stayed on.

The evap container isnt the right part and obviously was actually for a jeep wrangler and has an extra inlet. After numerous attempts to contact jeep for the last 4 months and still nothing this vehicle will stall while driving and it drives alot of interstate travel which is a huge safety risk and still have gotten nowhere all i want is for jeep to make this right and fix the manufacturermess up.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
The tipm(total integrated power module) has sticking or defective relays, fails to properly work on factory installed trailer hitch, and now rear braking lights staying on, causing a dead battery. I had to pull a fuse to stop this. The tipm has had a long history of manufacturing defects in other chrysler vehicles which were recalled, replaced by mfr. I recommend the same for this model.
I have had many problems with this vehicle.apx 50k miles the water pump blew.had it replaced - then apx 75k miles i experienced jump starts - took it to the dealer who was only doing oil changes that day.took it to aaa repair center - they did a pressure test - found nothing wrong.experienced the jump again - took it to a firestone mechanic who did a pressure test and "found nothing wrong". The jeep would not start on thanksgiving - had it towed to the aaa center where i explained what had happened.they discovered that the head had blown and was now warped & camshaft brokenat considerable cost, they fixed it, but now i have a p0340 code (camshaft sensor).i let the vehicle sit overnight.it seemed to start fine. After 40 miles of highway driving the oil light came on briefly, before shutting off.
Started up the car around 8/24/2015 and the red airbag light came on in the middle of the dash. It remains on at all times while the vehicle is on.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. Faulty tipm, front window washer not functioning, keyless entry issues, engine starting issues, etc.
Since i bought my jeep almost one month ago i've already had to replace the rear hatch actuator tonight ( 4 weeks after replacing it) my cat is giving me same error message that the rear gate is open and alarm goes off by itself. Panic button doesn't turn it off so apparently it's not the alarm disgaging. I go out to car open and close make sure it's properly sealed and horn goes off again. This is completely ridiculous. Am i going to drop 400.00 on my car once a month to be able to lock my car or have my dash lights in while i drive at night or is that to much to ask of jeep?

When driving through town the dash lights up completely with all the warnings coming on and the wipers turn on and won't turn off.the warnings include the brakes and airbags.this has happened 3 times in a few days.we had it diagnosed and they said it's the tipm module.this jeep doesn't even have 100k miles yet and there are tons of reports of this issue online.
I noticed the light flashing on and off while driving into town, it was a cloudy day and the lights had come on automatically, it has happened several times since this and i am concerned about a short in the system which could cause a fire and do a lot of damage to vehicle or myself.
My boyfriend was looking at my jeep back in may/june of 2018 to try to see if he could fix the ac. He disconnected the battery so that he could work behind the dash without risk of getting shocked for any reason, as well as the wiring to the 4 wheel drive switch so it would be out of the way while he worked behind the dash. When he went to reconnect the battery and the wiring for the 4 wheel drive, the vehicle got stuck in 4 wheel drive. We tried for what seemed like hours to get it to pop back to 2 wheel drive but nothing worked. We slowly drove it the few miles to bluebonnet jeep in new braunfels, tx to have them look at it and fix the ac too while they had it. They had my jeep for 2 weeks and nothing got done to remedy either issue until we had to physically go in and see what was going on. When we got there they hadn't worked on the jeep hardly at all. They never did a diagnostic to see what the problem was with the 4 wheel drive and then tried to replace my transmission. We had to load the jeep up on a trailer and haul it to another shop. That shop took apart my entire jeep and followed all of the wires back to see what was wrong. That's when they found that components were missing from my jeep to make it an actual 4 wheel drive. They made it so i can drive it but trying to fix the 4 wheel completely will be costly. I have expressed my concerns to chrysler jeep and basically they are telling me that i am going to have to pay more money for something that bluebonnet jeep should have done in the first place before they will consider any type of action. The shop that looked at it and did the diagnostic has detailed notes and diagrams but that apparently is not sufficient. I don't believe that i should have to fork out the money to have the diagnostic done when jeep is at fault for it not being done in the first place.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. Upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dick hannah dodge (3517 ne auto mall dr, vancouver, wa 98662 (360) 944-3276) where it was diagnosed with a defective orc module. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (electrical system, air bags). The contact stated that the recall remedy stated that the dealer would flash the totally integrated power module (tipm) or replace the module. The contact stated that the dealer flashed the tipm; however, since the remedy failed, the manufacturer and dealer needed to replace the module per the recall remedy. The dealer stated that the manufacturer would only pay for flashing the tipm. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 105,000.
When the vehicle is on and in motion the tire pressure comes on and blinks and stays solid whenever a car charger is in the charging port. The sensor let's the driver think it needs air in the tires when it doesn't.
Radio doesnt work -wipers come on by them selfs-little heat turn blow up brake lights come on, slip light for tires comes on dash and seat belt guy with airbag lights up on dash -motor loses power driving down road with heater blower on.took to mr. Tire auto service center for a full curtesy inspepection and they found out its eletrical issue .i have a video of mesitting in my work parking lot with the lights on dash . I had this vehicle for less then three years.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. While driving various speeds, the sky slider unintentionally opened. As a result, the vehicle had water damage, which caused electrical failure and various unknown warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to brown's jeep chrysler dodge ram (483 ny-112, east patchogue, ny 11772, (888) 615-2184) where the contact was informed that the parts for the failure were discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
On occasion the right side of the speedometer will not light up. Contacted chrysler about this issue for assistance but said that it was too old (the jeep didn't leave the dealership lot till 2013 so 4 year old) took it in and they said the dash is failing. They also stated that the light are integrated in to the bored. The jeep only has 40,000 miles on the odometer and should not be failing so early. This happens while moving or sitting.this is a safety issue due to not being able to see the speed and they came out and said the the dash is failing and needs to be replaced. I will add that a new cluster just for the part is $400.
On fri may 11, 20128;30 am .i was driving myjeep liberty and notice a strong odor in the vehicle then i noticed a burning black smoke coming from my drivers side door control panel , as quickly as i could i pulled off the road into a parking lot , at that time my windows where malfunctioning and the vehicle was fully engulfed with black smoketurnedvehicle off and took keys out of ignition climb over to passenger side door to exit vehicle and got two children out from the back of the vehicle . Stood there in shock for a moment , and noticed that the smoke in the vehicle was starting to dispensed and clearing out . At this point i called the dealership service and told them what happened and needed emergency tow. When the tow truckdriver got to the location , he the stated he needed to put the keys in the ignition in order to put the vehicle into(n) in order to tow . Noticedwindow switches had melted and sank into door, at that point the vehicle started to smoke again but increased threw the window and speaker of drivers side door , tow driver pulled keys out of ignition and again smoke slowly dispensed . Tow dragged vehicle onto tow truck instead. 20 min later dealership called stated that my vehicle went on fire at their location and needed to be put out with two fire extinguishers. ?? i was moments from entering a parkway and the thought of what would have happened to myself and family if i would have not been able to get off the road in time !! its been 9 days and at this time jeep chrysler was contacted but still has not respond to this situation? or has contacted me , my personal insurance as given me a claim number, this vehicle is only 6 mos old and this should have never happened...updated 09-09-14updated 09/10/2014
While driving my 2012 jeep liberty at about 10-15 mph, on two different occasionsdashboard lights will suddenly appear and the vehicle automatically turns off in mid driving. No current recalls for this particular jeep liberty model. This is major issue safety issue and i have hopes that the issue will be properly addressed by jeep.
When i began driving today i noticed that the airbag warning light was illuminated on the drivers side in the electronics cluster. There has been no damage to the vehicle and the light just randomly came on and has remained on.
Jeep will just die while driving down the road, engine shuts off, got to the side of the road safely, the second time was able to get into a parking lot all the lights came on wipers came on while in the off position, windows stopped working locks stopped working, fuel gauge said empty when its full if this happened on a highway could be life threatening as everything stops working power steering brakes
There was an electrical fire that appeared to originate in the driver's side rear tail light and migrated to the bumper and wiring inside the bumper.
Traveling last night and the lights went up, down then out for almost 20 seconds and doing 40 mph is scary. The lights finally came on but then they dim up and down. Before this last week the cruise control would not disengage. I never know what's going to happen when i drive this vehicle and the worst thing is taking it out at night and having the lights go out. This week was the forth time that has happened thank god it happened on a lighted road but i still had no brake lights. All times this has happened i've been on interstate highways and traveling at night

My jeep has had trouble switching from defrost to vent or floor since i purchased it. Recently i have been unable to use the heat in my jeep and it is very cold in the mornings. I have been advised it is the hvac blend door actuator. I have read reviews online with a lot of people having the same issues and was also advised by a coworker that jeeps have a lot of recalls for problems such as this. I would like to report the issue in the event the jeep could be recalled for this before i spend a large amount of money trying to have it repaired. The heat will not work at all, it does not matter if the vehicle is in motion or sitting in park. My passenger window will not roll down when being attempted from the passenger side. The driver has to roll the window down. My jeep was in park and another vehicle backed into it, slightly bumping the front bumper of my jeep. My jeep was in park with no passengers inside but rolled backwards several feet. The jeep was barely tapped therefore, considering it was in park, should not have rolled backwards that far. I travel with kids in my vehicle, this is frightening.

My air bag light has come on, and remains on, for no reason. No accidents, which could possibly cause any possible electrical malfunction. The air bag has not deployed. It appears to be an electrical malfunction. Also, the clock seems to run two minutes slow every month.
October 2013 ceiling lights came on and would not go out.headliner got hot enough that i thought it might catch on fire. In march of 2014 electrical problem. Headlights went out with only a reddish cast for lights. No heater fan, no radio no light inside doors lock on their own without car running (good way to lock keys in) after a couple of days everything went back to normal.its like there is a dead short somewhere.and theeco system i don't believe is working.gas mileage is atrocious.
My engine and the entire electrical stop while driving, every system stopped while driving in the middle of the road. This vehicle has had many issues from defective drivers seats, oil leaks, windows not working, seat belt malfunctions, recalls, head rest issues, leaks from who know where the dealer had it time and time again misdiagnosed it several times, it was in the jeep dealer and did not even make it out of the parking lot went it stopped again. All warning lights went on waring for several problems it is now stuck in my home. This jeep is as fca knows a lemon these problems go back years even when i bought it , it has never ever worked or operated properly or safely. Needs to be all recalled and refund all my monies
It happened a few times but the last time she was turning at a light and when keys swung the ignition shut off causing her to lose power steering and she hit another vehicle.the ignition is very touchy - just by barely touching the keys it shuts off.i am afraid for my daughter's safety driving this vehicle.

My airbag light came on and will not go out. The dealer checked it and said i need a new occupant restraint module. It is my understanding that this is a common complaint for these cars. Is there a recall that covers this problem?

On june 17, 2014 i went to fields chrysler jeep dodge in sanford fl. Due to starting issues with my 2012 jeep liberty which i purchased on december 2012 upon arrival i entered the service lane and was greeted by a company employee. He said ?someone will be with you shortly? not long after another employee said basically the same thing. I waited a while longer then another person who did not introduce himself (whom now i know as [xxx]). How can i help you? i state to him that my jeep is having starting issues and without letting me finish he said you got no warranty it's a 2012 jeep. I stated, ?sir this jeep was purchased on 12/2012 and it doesn't matter the warranty goes from the manufactured date.? i continue to explain that the warranty says 12 month with an 18 month replacement then it's prorated. Then [xxx] looked into the truck and said you have too many miles in a rude and non-professional manner. I said can we look at the battery and look at the warranty. I released the latch and he opened the hood. [xxx] was standing in front of the jeep and i was by the driver side i began to read the printed warranty on the battery. I began to notice liquid coming from under one of the caps. I said look at that not good. At that time [xxx] said let me handle this issue. I touched it and the top blew off exploding and spraying me in the eyes and in the face. I was rushed to another area of the shop where they began to flush my eyes. The first person that greeted me upon arrival he said i?m the person who first greeted you the medic cane and continued first aid while transporting me to the hospital in sanford then the emergency room operators took over. I received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my face. My eyes are severely damaged my vision has been greatly decreased with dry eyes cloudy and vision which is hindering my night time driving.
All my lights are on in dash(check engine, tire pressure, traction control, abs) when this happens my ac doesn't work...the gauages doesn't work. Test done by mechanic say communication failed...
Thank-you.
While driving the esc off came onand the jeep drivingstrange . Itis jerking when you are coming to a stop. Although you are driving in 2nd it is flashing 4wdl. The esc off is flashing. It is scary driving whenthis is happening . Also since i bought this car new in 2012 , i had to pay for the brake light to be change five times already. I think these jeeps have electrical problems.

Moon roof that came with the car not weather resistant. Entire roof came off during a drive
Im writing to see if my vehicle still qualify for the recall and the jeep is experience all the descriptions that are posted.
Vehicle experiences momentary loss of power during normal highway driving. Dealership and manufacturer representative both agree there is a problem, but do not know how to repair and refuse to do any repairs. They do not know what causes the loss of power.
I had taken the vehicle to get looked at by jeep twice prior due to the check engine light flashing and was informed all it needed was a software upgrade, which was completed. After the first time the engine light came and stayed on so i returned to have it looked at by the jeep dealership again. I was told it was safe and drivable. The next day i was driving about 30 miles per hour when my check engine light began to blink and the vehicle lost power. I had to car towed back and when it was looked at again and i was informed by the dealership the head was warped due to the car overheating. I have owed the vehicle for 60,000 miles and it has never once overheated. I am unsure if the engine ran hot (the needle usually sat half way between the "hot" and "cold" ends. Now that i have had to purchase a new vehicle i am noticing this vehicle runs cooler than my last and i am wondering the engine on my former vehicle was improperly engineered/manufactured and i was sold a defective vehicle. They emphasized that the overheating had to have occurred more than once for that type of damage to occur. Dealership wanted $8000 to repair/replace.
Jeep died while driving on the dash it said no fuse then my battery died also my alternator i still haven't been able to fix it because i don't know where to look we took it to a mechanic and he replaced the alternator 5 times and still has issues

Heat does not work. Took to dealership who reports the jeep needs heater core, radiator and possible distribution housing.
The heater core is plugged up with casting sand left in the head at the time of manufacturing.

I bought my jeep liberty jet in feb 2012 brand new out of the show room. I am a military vet and wanted a reliable car to drive in for my pcs moves. I started having vehicle shakes in 2013 for my 2012 jeep liberty jet. In december 2013 i took it to milton reuben chrysler dealership for check engine light. I was also informed there was a safety recall on it that i was unaware of. The vehicle was in the shop for over a month for cylinder 3,4,7 misfires. The heads were replaced. In august 2014, not even a year after my vehicle was in the shop i had to return for shakes. My child was in the car at the time it was shaking violently. I called chrysler, not the dealership,to complain of this safety issue and for long term help solving the issue. They basically said i was on my own and the dealership didn't want the vehicle as a trade in because of its lengthy wrap sheet. They replaced cylinder 3 and 7 again. I thought the worst was over until august 29, 2015 the shakes came back. I took it to dealership and they gave me a bill for $1100 for cylinder 5 misfire. The vehicle has less than 80,000 miles on a 100,000 mile warranty. It has been in the shop every year since we have had it for major work. The dealership doesn't want it and chrysler is not taking responsibility for the fact they built a faulty vehicle. Every 20,000 miles i am having issues.
Vehicle is attractive and functional.air bags probably saved the wife's life in a t bone accident. The air conditioner and heater work great. There is too much plastic...everywhere!seats are uncomfortable on long trips. Water pump locked up with just over 50k miles.transmission is self destructing at 62k miles this month. It seems the transmission has no dip stick for the owner to check the fluid. If it did the transmission problem could have been noticed sooner.now we must pay for a transmission and labor because it is out of warranty, $4k!the vehicle gets regular use in county, city and highway trips. On nice paved texas roads.it is well maintained and only driven by two adults, age 72.i believe there is a quality issue with the drivetrain parts.we have owned other jeeps. They had the old reliable inline 6cyl engine and three speed transmission.very reliable.

Had a problem with the transmission pan leaking. Took it to my garage and discovered the transmission oil pan was rusting from the inside out! now my engine oil pan seems to be doing the same. Anybody else? 91k mileage
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated while his wife was driving 65 mph, she heard a loud abnormal noise. Multiple warning lights were illuminated. The driver parked safety on the side of the roadway. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the water pump, drive belt tensioner and multiple unknown nuts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the vehicle remained inoperable. The contact called the local dealer nemer chrysler jeep dodge ram located at 728 quaker rd, queensbury, ny 12804, (518) 932-0616 and made the dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,625.
Severe corrosion on both oil pan and transmission pan. This vehicle is less than 5 years old with only 36,000 miles. Loss of either fluid could cause engine - transmission failure on a highway leading to an unsafe situation.
I have a pending file: 11151151; engine fire. I took a quick survey of complaints on thenhtsa site and found 23 other jeep liberty records from 2006-2012 describing valve failures and engine fires, which indicates a design flaw and need for investigation. Nhsta should also look at model years 2002-2005, dodge nitro, and other vehicles that used the mopar 3.7 engine. The rate of failure and fire points to a design flaw that must be rectified
At 48k miles engine started having multiple cylinder missfires, too lean then too rich codes for cyclinders while traveling on the highway, brought to dealer, was charged $148 to replace o2 sensor. Drove vehicle out of the lot, and within five miles from dealer, experienced same trouble. After one and half weeks at the dealer, they had replaced 2 pcmmodules, o2 sensors and then the catalytic converter. Vehicle was driven no less than 3 months and 5k driven miles after work was completed the engine started failing again with the same issue, stranding by disabled spouse 1400 miles away from home. Dealer now wants to remove engine head and rebuilt engine. Once was brought to the dealer, service agent told my spouse was advised that no transportation was hoping to be provided to her, since she was traveling with her service animal "a dog" . Even after they were advised of ada laws, and was told to drive the jeep and have it towed back to the dealer at our expense. When i contacted doge chrysler customer service, case number 30253034 i was told that they can't provide any assistance until the dealer diagnosed the issue, jeep have been at the dealer for a week now, and service advise it sayd that is going to take another 2 days before they get it in the shop to look at it..
I have owned the vehicle for about 10 months three times in the last 3 months while accelerating the accelerator has become locked at full throttle. I pounded the floor frantically to get it to release or become unstuck while applying the brakes. Fortunately i haven't killed anyone or been killed myself. This is a serious issue i'm deeply concerned about even driving the vehicle. What can i do.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated while her daughter was driving about 30 mph the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty 4x4. While driving out of the parking spot, the contact noticed that the vehicle leaked oil. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the oil pan rotted out and the oil pan needed to be replaced. The dealer (495 chrysler jeep dodge ram, 732 rogers st, lowell, ma 01852) and the manufacturer were contacted, but neither were able to provide assistance. The failure mileage was 80,180.
Driving freeway speed, engine lost power, electronic throttle control light flashed, then engine light; pulled onto shoulder, raised hood, observed fire at valve cover/wiring harness. Mechanic's subsequent inspection revealed valve/rocker arm failure resulted in punctured valve cover that released oil onto hot engine resulting in fire. Rocker arm failures are common on mopar 3.7 engine - google the term and many hits will appear. This is unacceptable for an engine with 82,000 miles that was serviced regularly according to manufacturer recommendations. New engine now required.
Faulty tipm, front window washer not functioning, keyless entry issues, engine starting issues, etc.
Well serviced vehicle with 88,000 miles.driving on a residential street when smoke began coming out of climate vents.noted engine temperature gauge at normal.stopped the car and turned off.fire noted under the hood near the windshield.within minutes, the car became fully engulfed and burned completely before fire department could arrive.

The overheating warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt or replaced. The transmission was replaced. When the contact retrieved the vehicle, the engine hesitated and vibrated. A week later, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that one of the engine cylinders needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that, based on the dealer's diagnosis, the failure was a maintenance issue. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,354.

I dont know what the heater has to do with the lights on dash or my brake lights coming onand radio not working and why the motor loses power drive it im scard of driving it because of a fire braking out but i have no choice it the only vechicle i have to drive back and forth to work. I had this vehicle for less then three years.
I started off by driving down hill on highway 40.all vehicle lights lit up on dashboard, enging stalled, no brakes or steering.i shifted the vehicle to neutral and was able to come to a stop on the shoulder of the road when the vehicle started up the next hill.no turns, the road was straight. Turned the key off and restarted the vehicle, and the jeep ran fine.later that day in a parking lot, the same thing happened.started the vehicle, started to pull out of the parking lot, all of the dashboard lights came on, the engine stalled and had no brakes or steering.placed the vehicle in neutral until the jeep came to a stop, turned the key off, then restarted the vehicle and the jeep ran ok until we got home.
Dealer keeps saying faulty coils, 4 attempts now, engine shuttering like it wants to shift into a gear while keeping a steady speed!
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving about 60 mph, the vehicle slowed down and lost power. The brake, the air bag, seat belts, the heater core and some other unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the radio did not work. The vehicle was taken to the ferrario auto team of sayre dealer (570-888-2367, located at 102 spring st, sayre, pa 18840) where the technician recommended a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the diagnostic test should be covered. However, the dealer stated no. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.
On 3 different occasions, first one driving on 95 from new york on december 3, 2014, i put on cruise control and car accelerated out of my control, brakes didn't work and i had to cross over lanes and tried everything to stop car, drove in to a ditch and car died, wouldn't restart for hours. The second time was march 6 2015 in florida, i was just driving along and the car just got out from under me at a very fast speed and i couldn't stop it, i threw it into park and the car died and the ignition just kept doing a clicking noise, left it over night because it wouldn't start, had to have it flatbed away, the car started the next day?? now on april 3rd 2015 it happened when i was going 3 miles an hour in my parking lot and the jeep accelerated and i drove straight between 2 parked cars and over a handicap sign to stop, now it has been sitting since friday in to a parking spot that my neighbors helped me push it in to, i could of been killed or hurt others. This car is in pristine condition, well maintained and low mileage...who can help me???
The car wold not start, had to push the gear shift forward and then it starts.the "check engine" light was on, the light below -- electronic trottle control and the service four wheel drive lite was on.turned car off, turned back on, had trouble starting, again had to push the gear shift forward, the only light that went off was the service four wheel drive light.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that heat failed to blow out of the air vents inside the vehicle, even though the blower was working. The vehicle was taken to ed voyles chrysler dodge jeep ram (844-715-5921, located at 789 cobb pkwy se, marietta, ga 30060) where it was diagnosed that the blower module and the resister module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred a year later. The contact called the same dealer and was iniformed that someone would call back. The contact was not called back. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 81,150.consumer stated although the radiator was replaced the radiator started leaking.
Heater would not send heat to floor setting. Told by dealer that heater melted parts of housing-distribution to the point that it would not work anymore. Also said i had to replace heater core since they were known to go bad also. The dealer, szott m59 chrysler jeep, said they were having to replace lots of the housings and heater cores on this model because of melting and plugging problems.told by dealer that it was an engineering problem and jeep knew about it and was trying to correct it. My problem is they still wanted almost $1000.00 to fix it, after discount from almost $1200.00, when they admitted it was a poorly designed system that the jeep engineers were working on to repair. Also, what if it happens again just because i use the heater and it melts itself again to the point of not working? i feel that if they know this is a common problem, and the dealer says it has to replace a lot of the units, jeep should be covering the cost of repairs. I have the old part here at home if you would like to inspect it. Thank you.
After going thru a car wash, i was touching up the back of the vehicle when i noticed the exhaust pipe was rusted. I called the dealership on mon, stated my finding and reminded the service rep that i had purchased the vehicle brand new ~6 months ago (therefore was under warranty) i set up to drop it off on wed @12pm. ~ 30 minutes, after i was shuttled to work, the service mgr called and told me the rust was normal and only "surface rust". However, is going to replace it to keep the customer service up. I suggested some sort of coating to prevent another premature rusting, being many other occurrences have been reported but was told that can't be done. I hope tom when i am picked up to retrieve my jeep that i won't be disappointed!
Air conditioner was blowing warm air. It happen in june 2013 and aug 24, 2013.
No second notification was received by mail as it had been indicated by the recall notice:"what your dealer will do...chrysler intends to repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor).however, the parts required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition are currently not available.chrysler is making every effort to obtain these parts as quickly as possible.chrysler will contact you again by mail, with a follow-up recall notice, when the remedy parts are available."the last sentence was underlined on the notice.no 2nd notification was mailed.i complained at an oil change, and i received an email shortly after "reminding" me to have it done.several months, maybe even almost a year, had passed.
Vehicle has a eco-mode to reserve excessive fuel usage. When traveling at a speed to exceed 45 mph the vehicle reacts with a bad vibration and shake as if there is a flat tire or something. When coming to a complete stop the vehicle shakes as if there is a defect with the rotors or brakes. When taking off, there is a kick when attempting to first accelerate especially at a traffic stop/intersection. Vehicle has been serviced at the sport durst chrysler jeep in durham nc and it has been declared as "drone mode which is unknown cause of issue- unrepairable." service department conferenced with chrysler corp. Customer service and has concluded that vehicle is recommended for buy back under lemon laws. No further action has yet been taken. Vehicle is currently unsafe and undriveable. Need another vehicle immediately.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that excessive light blue/gray smoke emits from the exhaust/tail pipe upon starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the smoke was water vapor. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that she only noticed the smoke when the vehicle had been sitting for two hours. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 15.
My airbag light came on and will not go out. The dealer checked it and said i need a new occupant restraint module. It is my understanding that this is a common complaint for these cars. Is there a recall that covers this problem?
The "gate" light in my jeep liberty came on while driving and would not go off, even though everything was securely shut.as a result, i was unable to lock my vehicle because the alarm would sound.the interior lights also stayed on during this time, which was a hazard when driving at night as it directly affected my ability to see outside my car.i have done some research on this issue and do see that it appears to be a common problem which may be caused by faulty rubber trim around the rear hatch window.the rubber allows water to get in to the latch and eventually ruins it.i recently had the gate latch assembly replaced, which did resolve the issue,.
The vehicles doors lock and unlock while the car is in motion. The lights have gone out while moving down the road. The wipers will intermittently go on and off . The lights on the dash and radio will dim while driving. The car shifts multiple times while moving.
The headlights go out randomly whenthey are on auto driving at night. I then have to turn them on manual when driving at night. This problem has been seen by a mechanic twice in the last two months.ma 10/5
The instrument cluster lights intermittently turn off, sometimes just a 1/4 of the rpm gauge, sometime both 1/4 of rpm and mph gauge, sometimes half of one, none of the other, sometimes 3/4 of both, sometimes all of mph and rpm gauge.it is totally random what will be illuminated and what won't be.digital compass displays only dashes, no direction.windows will roll down (power windows) but will not roll back up unless you turn off the jeep and turn it back on
Since i bought my jeep almost one month ago i've already had to replace the rear hatch actuator tonight ( 4 weeks after replacing it) my cat is giving me same error message that the rear gate is open and alarm goes off by itself.
When problem starts wipers go on dash lights come on dash gauges do not workno speedometer ac defroster heater do not work brakes do not work rightheadlights go out no blinkers no lights on inside of carcar says no bus wherethe gear selecter is dash they have replaced the tpn 3 timesand the wiring cluster 4 timesthey brought in specialist from detroitto work on this car and can not figure out what is making this car do this they keep saying it is the tpn or the wiring cluster after replacing several times it still doing the same things
Had vehicle at dealership about 3 weeks prior for a heavy burning smell inside and out side of vehicle.smelled like burnt wiring. Was told by dealer it was a sticker on the exhaust pipe. Was told it was fine and might smell it for a short time..smell is still there and last night vehicle was on snow covered road with on coming traffic and the headlights and all interior lights were lost.. Headlight switch was moved back and fourth from auto, on, and off numerous times till lights came back on and it did it again on the way home in the morning. Going to take it back to dealer about an hour away for the second time.. Not sure why chrysler doesnt take time to look at things properly and listen to the owners. A sticker burning off doesnt smell like burnt wiring..
I noticed the light flashing on and off while driving into town, it was a cloudy day and the lights had come on automatically, it has happened several times since this and i am concerned about a short in the system which could cause a fire and do a lot of damage to vehicle or myself.
I've been driving my jeep around to work and home everyday and i notice the passenger air bag light flashes where it says it's off. Today 2/17/2013 i drove 100 miles from a small trip and the light was on the entire time i was driving. I haven't had any accidents.
There was an electrical fire that appeared to originate in the driver's side rear tail light and migrated to the bumper and wiring inside the bumper.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. While driving approximately 55 mph, the instrument panel illuminated and the gauges became inoperative. In addition, the windshield wipers, headlights, and turn signals illuminated intermittently. The dealer diagnosed that the wiring cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000. The vin was not available.

Vehicle experiences momentary loss of power during normal highway driving. Dealership and manufacturer representative both agree there is a problem, but do not know how to repair and refuse to do any repairs. They do not know what causes the loss of power.

Gasoline is leaking out when filling up.this is a know issue with previous year models.the problem is so serious that jeep is have a problem manufacturing the part to fix it. There should be a recall.
Fuel was spilling out underneath vehicle every time i filled up. The issue was that the plastic housing where the fuel filler tube connects to the gas tank hardened and deteriorated to a point where it begins to leak.that plastic appears not to be ethanol resistant.indications a leak will or is occurring: p0456 code or fuel dripping down under vehicle or smell of fuel.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle was hesitating and felt the vehicle was being tugged. The contact mentioned that the fuel tank was making an abnormal noise when the fuel tank was being opened. The vehicle failed to consume over five dollars worth of fuel. In addition, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tipm module and the occupant restraint control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,591.
Electric start has not been connecting.this morning i went to drive the car.cannot drive accelerator is stuck.cannot drive vehicle.

I was driving 35 mph straight on a city road when the orange engine light came on. I went to nearest auto store and had it scanned and it came out with code p0441. Incorrect purge flow.
1) backed out of driveway and the transmission failed to engage then slammed into gear, 2) stopped at an intersection pressed on the throttle vehicle paused and then slammed into gear (has done this several times)and has continued this behavior intermittently. It has been to the dealership 5 times. Dealer and chrysler state that this is because of the vehicle being on an incline and it has an electronic throttle and transmission state there is not a problem and they are not going to fix itthe dealership (advantage chrysler in mount dora florida told me if i didn't like the response take it somewhere else. Each time it does this it slams into gear and puts stress on the u joints, drive shaft, and rear end not to mention the damage to the transmission. The vehicle still has less than 4000 miles on it.
The contact's daughter owns a 2012 jeep liberty. When the contact's daughter parked the vehicle in the garage, an oil leak was noticed under the vehicle. The contact was unaware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to victory chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 5827 rome-taberg rd, rome, ny 13440, 315-337-0512) where it was diagnosed that the transmission pan and oil pan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 50,000.
I am experiencing torque converter shudder at between 45 and 50 mph at 1500rpm or lower.i first reported this defect when the vehicle had about 800 miles on it.the vehicle feels like it's driving over rain grooves or rumble strips when i'm experiencing the problem.the issue is 100% reproducible.the dealership has insisted that this is a condition that affects all jeep liberties called "exhaust drone."during one of my many service visits for one of my many other service issues, i had a rental 2012 jeep liberty that did not have this problem.jeep customer care has been unsuccessful in even contacting the service manager at the dealership where i bought the vehicle because he does not return their calls.i am concerned that the torque converter will fail during regular use and leave me either stranded or cause an accident.also, the vehicle intermittently shifts very rough, and on several occasions when i am starting the vehicle it surges forward or backward suddenly even when applying very little pressure to the gas pedal, and this is accompanied by a very loud knocking sound.sometimes the vehicle makes noises between 15 and 25 mph, which i can only describe as a loud high pitched whining or warbling sort of noise (like a loose flywheel).
The 2012 jeep liberty automatic transmission "clunks" severely when upshifting or downshifting. A loud "clunk" is noted at either the transmission or driveshaft u-joint. I took the vehicle to the jeep dealership and technicians replicated the discrepancy. The technician also tried another vehicle (a different model with the same type transmission) that was on the lot and it too, had this loud "clunk". The dealership contacted chrysler, and were told by chrysler that chrysler is aware of this problem, but has no "fix" or "repair" for this problem.one of these days, the transmission is going to fail or a u-joint is going to fail which could result in a serious accident. And chrysler already knows about this discrepancy!!!this happened on a 2012 jeep liberty that is brand new and now has 5,000 miles on it and it continues to happen.
In dec 2018, my vehicle had been parked in my garage for about 3 weeks and when i went to drive it, it did not move once i put it in reverse.i looked underneath and there was transmission fluid on the ground.i had my jeep towed and my mechanic stated that the transmission pan was rusted out and sent me a picture.had my transmission pan replaced and my jeep on had a little over 43,000 miles.
The airbag light has gone on and off when driving then went back on and has stayed on.the car was making a humming noise and hesitated on acceleration. Had to replace fuel pump due to barring lose, replace spark plugs - cost $787.00
2012 jeep liberty, 55,000 miles.i stopped at a red light. When the light turned green i hit the gas to move forward and the truck went nowhere for about 5seconds, when the transmission finally engaged. The truck jerkedand i finally went forward. This truck has been checked with an independent mechanic then brought to the dealership as it is still under extended warranty. Very disappointing, as i love this truck. I guess i will be hesitant to buy another jeep.

My wife informed me on friday evening 04/19/19 a warning light was on vehicle. Took to my mechanic 8:00am on saturday 04/20/2019once vehicle reaches cruise speed it hums & pulls back speed. My mechanic told me faulty code read transmission solonoid a. I then took vehicle to browns jeep in medford, ny at 9:15am saturday 04/20/19. On tuesday afternoon 4:30pm browns jeep is telling me that vehicle needs rear differential. Informed me cost of parts alone could be over $1700. Technician went home & won't write up until wednesday morning. Vehicle has only 57,561 miles. Vehicle was purchased new at browns jeep on 01/14/2013.
At 50 thousand miles on my vehicle a maintainance technician noticed two missing bolts in the front coupling of the rear drive shaft.there were also loose bolts in the real coupe long.a call to chrysler customer care reveals that the company will not pay for this repair.had the drive shaft come loose at highway speed it would have caused catastrophic los of life, limb or property.this problem needs to be addressed as a national recall.the chrysler customer care complaint number is 578 216 92.
While driving my jeep i will press my gas pedal and will either go 20mph or not move. The rpm go up but will barely move. In order to get it to stop i have to shut off jeep and restart it and then it works fine. Also check engine light came on with a code p0869.took back to dealership showed them the code and video of what my jeep is doing. They said there was nothing they can do unless it happens when they have it. It's been to the dealership 5 times. Does anyone have any idea what my cause this problem?
Severe corrosion on both oil pan and transmission pan. This vehicle is less than 5 years old with only 36,000 miles. Loss of either fluid could cause engine - transmission failure on a highway leading to an unsafe situation.
I had to have my rf hub bearing replaced 3 times. My vehicle was purchased new. The first time milage was around 75000 mile second was at about 150 and again around 255 its appears once a year. I am now having problems with leaks. My transmission is leaking, water pump leaking and oil all at once. Going in for inspection today. Started with trans leak followed by these other leaks. I noticed the vehicle was leaking trans fluid and it was jerking hesitate to go into gear. Added trans fluid was find but found myself adding more fluid within next 2 days so i know it has to be checked out. Now the vehicle is running hot my reservoir was not at max so i filled it up. Needle started go up to hot mark but did not get hot no smoke nothing. Would go back down as long as i was driving. Checked today ending oil and it is low. Just had oil change over a month ago. Will keep you informed after inspection. My vehicle is now at 255 thousand miles. I have had regular maintenance.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact noticed that the transmission pan was fractured without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 38,100.
The transmission fails to engage from neutral to first gear, or when slowing down and down shifting from second to first. When it does engage, it jolts forward at a higher speed which could a) cause me to hit another car; b) allow another car to hit me as i am not moving; c) roll backwards down a hill as the transmission did not engage and cause me to get into an accident. Jeep is aware of this problem, but is doing nothing to fix or recall the vehicle.
I had traveled about 500 miles and all of the lights concerning the 4 wd lit up on the dash and the rpm's jumped up over 3000 rpm, i was towing a trailer and using the towing mode as it says to in the manual, there were no chrysler dealers open for doing service, i pulled over and shut off the trailer towing and went a ways further and the lights were still on so i pulled the fuse and continued along the lights slowly one by one shut off. I stopped in bloomington, illinois at the chrysler dealer the next day and they could not give a god answer for what had happened. I continued on to florida to visit with my sons and the situation got worse it started acting like the engine was miss firing on a cylinder or two, chrysler dealer in fl was too busy to check it out and wanted me to pay up fronteven though the power train is still under warranty til 100,000 miles. I left fl returning to il and had it checked by a friend who had a garage and his testing showed a bad modulator in the transmission, i took it back to the chrysler dealer and they put it on their computer and dis some adjusting and told me to take it easy the transmission is very weak and needs repair but chrysler will not do anything unless the transmission quits completely. I left il and returned to south dakota and the transmission is no better but actually getting worse, i went to hot springs sd yesterday which is about a 60 mile one way trip, visited with friends for 4 hours and returned home and before i got back home all the lights for the 4 wd were on , i think chrysler needs to take care of this problem before i am left stranded alongside a road someplace or have a wreck from the transmission gong out while driving. This is the worse chrysler that i have ever owned and will be the last one if the problem is not corrected and soon.
The 2012 jeep liberty only has 56k thousand mile and transmission pan was leaking and rusting. How is this possible and why isn't this a safety hazard/product defect. There are numerous other complaints of this issue. The oil pan also showing signs of rusting as well. When the vehicle is hot and leaking fluid is this not a safety issue.
Transmission pan leaking at 56,000 miles. No way to check fluid level for novice.no warning light for low fluid level, pulling out into traffic, car no longer moves stalling in on coming traffic. Open further investigation, pan rusted was seeping trans fluid under carriage soak, no smoke from exhaust burning as short trips. Long trip fire hazard due to cat. And hot exhaust. This is very premature to rust out. Many complaints across the internet and jeep forums.
I experienced rapid unintended acceleration when starting up slowly from a complete stop, resultimg in the vehicle leaping a curb and striking a stop sign, scraping the side of the vehicle.
I was driving my vehicle on the street when my check engine light came on and the car started to run rough and then the engine light started flashing.i parked it on a side street and had it towed to mechanic.i was told that the 3 & 5 cylinder was misfiring.code p0303 & p0305 had to have spark plugs replaced along with boots & wires.my vehicle only has a little over 46,000 miles.
I have had 3 transmission breakdowns in the last 6 months.9/23/17, 12/6/17 and 3/9/18. The repairs were done at the same dealership. Autonation chrysler dodge jeep ram of pembroke pines, 13601 pines blvd. Pembroke pines, fl. 33027.in each incident the transmission cutoff and would not engage above 2nd gear. This last time in march the dealership has had my vehicle for 2 weeks and just stated that it was a faulty part. I do not believe it is the part. Something in the transmission is making the parts fail. They refuse to fix the transmission and want me to risk driving again knowing that this part has failed 3 times already in 6 months. I am a 56 year old male with poor eyesight. This part failure has happened to me twice while driving on the highway almost causing an accident both time. I have also contacted jeep and been assigned a case # 33606208. I have had to rent a vehicle to continue to work and am already out of pocket $468.34 in the last weeks. The dealership refuses to give me a loaner. I do not believe my car is safe to drive based on the 3 breakdowns of the same parts in the last 6 months yet the dealership refuses to replace the transmission which is the cause of the breakdown. I have uploaded the billing from the previous 2 breakdowns. I need your help to investigate this issue for me as i am terrified to drive this vehicle without the transmission being corrected. I feel i am in danger of an accident.. This part will continue to breakdown as evidenced from the repeated repairs. This may be systemic in other jeeps. Please help me.
On 3 /2/2019 went to back out of my driveway put in reverse didn't move i assumed it was the linkage. So i had towed to transmission shop near my house. Got a call today saying the linkage cabel was routed the wrong way in such away that he cant explain why that would be. I've never had major work done to beside your normal oil changes.
I was hit on my passenger front, while attempting to cross into a parking lot, so hard until my tire rod bent at a 90* angle. My passenger airbag didn't deploy. None of my airbags deployed. There was no blind spot warning.even after the impact, there was no alarm or notification of the damage, as the firemen were attempting to drive my car out of the road.
I placed this vehicle's automatic transmission shifter, with the engine running into the park position on 05/20/17 at approx. 12:15 am. I sat in the vehicle for a few minutes. I exited drivers side, closed that door after placing patrol items onto the front seat.i moved to passenger front door, opened it and and retrieved a patrol bag and items from that seat. After closing passenger door and walking away from vehicle the shifter "moved" down into reverse.was it in "false park"? then the jeep to back up off concrete parking pad and into a shallow lagoon on fripp island, st. Helena, sc. The fripp island property owners association auto insurance company, travelers, totalled out the vehicle stating it was no longer safe to drive?

I have a perforated hole in the driver side seat and another perforated hole in the passenger seat caused by the seat belt latch that sit in the entrance ways of my vehicle.every time i or someone else gets into the vehicle there is a possibility of getting stabbed in the back along with puncturing another hole in the seat.the seat belt latch catches you when entering into the vehicle and when you sit back that?s when it gets you, like a bee sting, it really hurts.i have received a bruise from the latch.
My seat belt receptacle broke half and half on the driver side. I call the car dealership and the will not replace it let i pay for it

I was sitting in my car pulling it out of garage when a sharp metal bar pushed up thru the drivers seat, injuring left leg. I reported it to chrysler and one dealer who services my car santa maria jeep, who has the pictures. They failed to respond, i notified chrysler hq, was given several misleading stories on what to do.they said they are sending a vehicle engineer to my home to exam and photo the problem, his name is [xxx], he called and then refused to come and exam the vehicle, wanting me to drive it 30 miles to a dealer.so he could see it there.he only lives down the road from my home so, why make me drive an unsafe, defective dangerous vehicle? i am a disabled veteran and he still refused. Chrysler also refused to do anything, they called yesterday admitting they knew of the defects and that i should not report this to any regulatory agency since they will in 5 or so days try to figure out what to do ???i was told by two chrysler employees they do not want a file or complaint on this issue since it could cause a national recall and cause panic in the public not to buy or drive jeep's and as of today they have not done anything to assist. They seem more interested in concealing the defects and not helping the injured party or fixing the defect. This is a very dangerous defect and had i been on the freeway it could have been fatal or worse than it is now. I believe this is a very serious defect and chrysler knows it and is hiding it. My airbag light is on in my dashboard and doesnt go away. I also got my vehicle serviced because my check engine light was on and one code that came back was because of my headrest .
Vehicle is 23 months old with 67000 miles. The driver's side energy absorbing headrest assembly came apart. The vehicle has never been in any type of crash where the headrest would have been used to absorb crash energy. I contacted my servicing dealer to inquire about warranty. They told me that due to the mileage, it is not a warranty collectible repair. They advised me to contact jeep customer care. I did and spoke to [xxx]. She informed me that jeep would not be willing to cover a replacement headrest as my warranty has expired. She did say that if i took it to the dealer and had them look at it, if they determined that it was a manufacturing defect, they might be able to cover it. I am an ase certified mechanic with 23 years experience that manages 3 shops for the nation's largest parcel delivery company. I am more than qualified to determine if a part is broken. I will now have to source a replacement on my own and make the repair to maintain the safety of the vehicle. Jeep liberty front left drivers power seat adjuster shield has broken for the second time. Had it replaced once when car was under warranty, now broken second time. This seems to be a faulty design flaw, its aggravating, uncomfortable, and is a pain to replace. Supposedly it costs $75 up, not to mention the labor charges.chrysler should replace this for free when it breaks.

Front and backbrakes lock up. Back driver side did it. Then stopped. Smoked from rubbing. Then quit. Now today july 3rd 18 front passenger locked up. Smoked from hot. Parked it went out later alittle better but the back driver and front passenger are still hotter. No lights no warnings. Just calibers not releasing good. Went out on highway yesterday fine. Today in town locked up.

The contact stated that the failure has occurred at least five times. The contact state that failure was do to the brake calipers not working correctly. Brakesfailed 3 different times with the peddle going to the floor, almost causing an accident.
I feel it important to make others aware of what was just found to be wrong with my 2012 jeep liberty. The red brake light indicator came on and stayed on, the emergency brake was not on at the time. Took the car to our trusted local mechanic and once the car was place up on the rack and tires removed you could see the problem. The front brake line is situated in such a way that it hits against the struts every time the wheel is turned. Creating a very dangerous situation, the brake line could be severed at anytime causing immediate brake failure.the car was purchased as a certified used vehicle with the understanding that it had completed the point check and that we were placing our new driver in a safe vehicle. Very disappointing to find out otherwise. Jeep/chrysler is being very unresponsive to this major safety issue. Not only is this a safety issue but it could have resulted in the loss of lives. Very angry!
This is not the first time this issue has occurred but i can't remember the dates but it is on record at the dealership. We have had this 2012 jeep liberty in the shop two other times with thesame complaint but with the same results (nothing) !!!!!!!!!!when driving on wet roads and going into curves even at slow speeds (35 mph)when applying the brakes, the front brakes will lock up and the back brakes are not catching...causing the jeeps back end to slide around,, so we tried stopping on a level gravel lot and the front wheels will lock up but the back wheels will keep turning.we have had it to tim short chrysler, jeep, dodge in hazard, ky and one mechanic says that there is clearly something wrong but another states that he test drove another like vehicle and this vehicle does same. And that he talked with star and roland and both stated that this is normal operation. No codes, no problem found at this time. So i received a statement with the signature of mechanic[xxx](service manager) and [xxx] (general manager). This is very dangerous and if this in "normal operations" then something needs to be changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!please help,,, has there been any other complaints with this same problem?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Have a jeep liberty 2012 with retractable roof.have had leaking problems since i've owned the jeep.it is now in the electrical and hoping it doesn't catch fire or something. They have tried to fix, there is no fix for this problem.they only made one year of the liberty with the retractable roof because of this problem.my worry is that now it's in the electrical part of the jeep.is this a safety item?
Opened the driver side door while the car was parked to find a foot of water that leaked in from the fabric of the driver's side roof.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. While the vehicle was parked, the headliner became completely wet due to rainy conditions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where repairs were made to the seals. The contact stated that a whistling noise was heard from the sky slider roof after the repair was done. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.
Windshield cracked out of the blue. Looks like a stress fracture but dealership and chrysler claim its environmental and won't replace windshield. It's hazardous. Additionally, the undercarriage is all rusted and black soot in exhaust.
Heat shield/blanket between exhaust and body .almoststarted on fire. I smelt something burninglike paper/plastic. I crawled under jeep to see what it was. I saw smoke and red embers in that padding.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the hood latch slipped and fell down while the contact was under the hood. The contact stated that there were no support clamps for the hood. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, the vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 1,400 and the current mileage was 1,500.
2012 jeep liberty. Consumer writes in regards to skyliner roof getting stuck. *ldthe consumer stated the roof got stuck in open position. The dealear and manufacturer were notified. No assistance was offered.
The sky slider roof became detached when driving on a highway. My children were in the car when this happened. The only parts available to fix this issue is an aftermarket product. This concerns me due to not knowing how well this part is made. Considering chrysler has taken the parts off of the market, it appears they are aware of the defects and safety issues. I am unable to drive my car for fear the roof will blow off while i am driving it. There are no recalls currently for this and i am shocked.
*dsy
I purchased a 2012 jeep liberty with a slider roof. When attempting to close the slider using the controls, the roof would no longer close completely, which has caused water damage to the interior of the vehicle and i would imagine may have also caused electrical issues. Things like the dash lights, wipers, and seat randomly come on on their own. My concern, and from the research i have done on this issue, is that the roof is not securely attached which is concerning when you are driving at higher speeds on the pike or rt 128. Just last week when driving my daughter back to college, there were several loud clicking noises while we were on rt 128 and i honestly thought the roof was going to fly off. This appears to have been a known issue by jeep chrysler and is a real safety hazard that they are not willing or able to correct.
As as i was driving doing around 50 my skyslider rood opened up just like that and i have many leaks coming in causin my electrical components to malfunction at times and i also have my sensor that stays on stating low air pare tire waited 6 months for a part from the dealer and now i'm scared to even open it up and still have the lots of leaks on any rainy day this is ridiculous bec that was the selling point as to why i got this vehicle and now i'm to scared to use it bec i've heard from others that it comes lose and flies off causing accidents pls pls someone do something bout this bec it's not right and there is no help for jeep thanks
The sky slider on my jeep is broken cause leaking when it rains. Called multiple dealerships and companies that say they don't have any replacement parts or pieces to fix the issue. There is a social media group that shows many other jeep liberty'sthat have the same issue and due to the top being broken, tops have flown off while on highway causing damage to vehicle-major safety hazard. I'm going to continue to call around and see if i can find a resolution but i'm praying my top stays on until then. In the photos, you can see where i had to clamp the top shift which has slowed the leaking for now.
I was coming home from work, as i turned onto my exit there was a pop sound and then it started hissingand smoking.i slowed down and pulled over and got out of the vehicle.it started to smoke, caught on fire and burned totally up before my eyes. I have only had this vehicle for six (6) months.
I have a 2012 jeep liberty.the sky slider has never sealed properly since i purchased it.i took it into jeep 3x for wind noise complaints (you can barely hear yourself talk inside the car when you are driving over 40mph) and each time i was told there was nothing wrong.about 6 months ago the sky slider roof stopped operating.i took it to jeep to be fixed but they told me "you are lucky it is closed.leave it closed.we have some in the back of the shop that are stuck open and we can't get replacement parts".i took it to another jeep dealer who looked into this more for me. I have an extended warranty and jeep had someone come out to confirm that the sky slider was indeed inoperable and approve the repair work to be done and confirm that the part was under warranty.unfortunately they also told me that they can't get the part from jeep as it is discontinued.i filed a complaint with jeep and received an fca number, but unfortunately every time i call or they call me the answer is the same.the part is under review and they are not sure if they are going to make it anymore.two days ago while driving at 55mph, the sky slider roof literally popped open.i had to quickly pull over in 3 lanes of traffic to try to get it to close.unfortunately it will not seal and now has a gaping hole in the roof which renders it inoperable and not only that, the interior of the car is now exposed to the elements.it is unheard of that jeep will not stand behind their product.the roof is warrantied (which i paid for) yet they have no answers for consumers and refuse to address the problem.i have read hundreds of similar complaints on the internet.i am not sure what my next step is here except to file suit with jeep.
I own a 2012 jeep liberty jet with a slider roof.this is a specific type of roof that i just found out that in feb 2019 has been discontinued.my roof does not work and not only is it leaking it will not close all the way.when i drive on the highway it begins to come open even when i have it taped down.i have a huge fear that it is going to fly off while driving over 65mph.if this should happen again (it started to happen one time and luckily i had a friend in the front seat who was able to hold it down) i fear someone could really get hurt or even killed.jeep is taking no responsibility for this issue with this type of roof and no longer even offers the parts to fix it.i have been told that i would have to seek a 3rd party and the roof would need to be soldered off and replaced, but they would not do it nor would they offer any sort of compensation for the ill-constructed product.this is not right!i am not alone with this issue and i do not want to see anyone get hurt for a very important part of a car not working.
Lift gate hatch mechanism parts continue to fail without warning not allowing exit/entry into hatch in case of emergency or access to spare tire and jack.i have had parts replaced three times.this lift gate is operated manually.this happens in numerous weather conditions and temperatures.this is noted while the car is stationary.this has been reported to jeep, without resolution.
I was on major interstate in birmingham ala.car accident i was hit on left side and my air bags did not deploy. And my car rolled . I had a call back on my head restraints .?
This vehicle has a slider roof.the electrical part works fine (truth is i only used the roof a handful of times)but somehow -i believe from a car wash the slider roof came off track.i was told by jeep that the only way to fix the issue is to replace the entire roof.my warranty will not cover it since the electrical part still works.jeep would only fix it for $3,000.the car is not worth fixing for that much money. When i was driving down the highway air got caught up under the soft roof and started to openi had to pull over and manuallypull it closed.ihave a huge fear that it is going to blow off.the slider roof is a terrible design and could cause a major problem when the entire roof blows off due to this design.
Sky slider roof broken, will not open nor close. I have to put a tarp over my jeep to keep the rain out. Cannot be repaired due to no parts available. The possibility for this roof to fly off while driving at high speeds is real. Chrysler/jeep needs to remedy this problem.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. While at an independent mechanic for routine maintenance, the mechanic inspected under the vehicle and noticed extensive rust bubbles on the engine oil pan and the transmission pan. The parts needed to be replaced. The dealer (kayser chrysler center of watertown, 105 highway 16 frontage road, watertown, wi 53094, (920) 261-3870) replaced the parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that there were no service campaigns and recalls concerning premature rust and deterioration. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Had a accident and airbag light would not come off also the electric system would not come on horn would not work and other things. Rotor had to to be replace, off the suspention ? light on. Was hit on drivers side, hit and run my insurance was used. Had to send to dealer two times and get towed 2 times.had
Sky slider roof broken, will not open nor close. I have to put a tarp over my jeep to keep the rain out. Cannot be repaired due to no parts available. The possibility for this roof to fly off while driving at high speeds is real. Chrysler/jeep needs to remedy this problem.
My window on the drivers side started to act up and the next day all controls to every window quit working and now its very cold out side. Plus the heat for the floor quit working also.
Car alarm started going off when car was parked at my place of business for no apparent reason, went out got it off and not even 5 minutes later it started again. Got in the car and the rear hatch warning light was on so i opened and closed it looked to be secure so i tried locking again and alarm went off and warning light was still on. Rear gate is not open and cannot lock my vehicle without the alarm going off. It looks like this is a very common issue as there is not a proper seal allowing water to leak into the window. I looked at the latches and they both appear to be corroded and rusty from said water damage!
The window regulator has gone out in 3 of 4 of my automatic windows, all within a years span. Two went out at the same time. I had one of the regulators fixed, but for a hefty fee. When one regulator went out my vehicle was in motion on a city street and the rear window went down and would not roll back up.
The window regulator frequently breaks without warning. We have had it changed on 3 different occasions and it just broke again.
So, in 2016 sep. I took my 20012 jeep liberty in for a recall which has been corrected. The tec. Then advised me to get the light turned off i would need to pay the cost of $400. To get this resolved. And if i ever get into accident the airbags may not deploy. I personally think that this should be a manufactures recall. As of today i have not yet fixed this issue. Hopefully this will be solved by nhtsa
The oil filler tube leaking oil onto valve cover. Part is on back order for 1 month
Mopar issued a recall t56/nhtsa 17v-640. Mopar issued the fix and i took my vehicle to blue bonnet jeep who claimed to have fixed the issue, printed documents to a "fix" but has not inputted this information into mopar as fixed bringing a question to the legitimacy of the fix. This dealership is either defrauded nhtsa with false fixes or is inept in follow through to fixing the recall.
Sky slider blows up while driving down the road, it is very noisy, and when taken to jeep dealership, they say the parts necessary to fix it are no longer available. Was told to take it to an auto glass shot and have it glued shut. I feel like i shouldn't have to have it glued shut, there goes the whole value of this vehicle. This is definitely very dangerous and rather inconvenient. Something needs to be done about this.
I was driving 35 miles per hour, the esc warning light came on, caris jerking when you are coming to a stop. The escis flashing.i bought this car new in 2012 ,this is the third time in three weeks this has happened. First two time light when off when vehicle was turned off not this time. Check engine light also on this time.
Heat shield/blanket between exhaust and body .almoststarted on fire. I smelt something burninglike paper/plastic. I crawled under jeep to see what it was. I saw smoke and red embers in that padding.
Sky slider on 2012 jeep liberty is unable to close and pops open while driving.this happens at any speed you are driving.
My sky slider while closed, started opening on it's own going down the road. After stopping to inspect, the sky slider will not seal/close all the way. After taking it to a jeep dealership, they said the sky slider needs replaced but mopar does not produce the parts any longer. Now whenever i need to leave, i have to be sure the sky slider is all the way down before driving. Even then it lifts and opens on its own. I contacted jeep and they do not have a recall or any affordable solution to this known defect.
I have been a loyal jeep liberty owner since 2008. I now have a 2012, in total i have had 3 liberty's.the clock in each of them remain 2 or 3 minutes behind no matter what i do!i've just looked at your complaints and i see that there have been numerous complaints about just that.it is not a safety issue which is why i'm sure most people haven't written about it.or like i did in 2008, i just assumed that is was just a fluke with that particular car. Wrong, every liberty that i have had has had the same problem.now that you are not making the liberty anymore perhaps you can do something with your remaining liberty owners and do a recall and fix the clock?further more it makes me wonder if i should start a survey/campaign with owners of other jeep/chrysler owners to see if their clocks keep correct time.obviously, i like the vehicle and have continued to purchase it however; it is very "time consuming" to have to reset the clock every other day. Yes, pun intended! please, let me know when you intend to do something about this problem.is it the same in all your vehicles or is thisa defect of only the liberty?if so then you have an even bigger problem then i imagined.
Started up the car around 8/24/2015 and the red airbag light came on in the middle of the dash. It remains on at all times while the vehicle is on.
The sky view roof malfunctioned, came loose began to catch air. I believed that if i was going faster it would have blown off. The roof came off its track. It needed repair to replace "pins and reset the switch" i was told by the mechanic this is a chronic issue and a costly one. The vehicle was in motion on an off ramp i was going apx. 35.mph the used car dealer warranted the repair but stated it was likely to happen again.
Something with the starter and something with the back latch can't lock vechicle up do to the alarm will go off
Windows fell inside door, suspect window regulators, contacted fca and notified 3 of 4 window regulators failed. Requested assistance since 2007 models have been recalled and evidently there is still a problem. Fca said they are unable to help, windows are taped up with duct tape.12/
Thank-you.
Gate latch light will not shut off.interior lights stay on,drains battery.stationary, moving
The cable and pins on the sky slider on roof of vehicle snapped and broke while driving, if we had been going a faster speed the entire canvass top could have broken loose from vehicle
For the 4th time now my jeep drivers seat had a sharp metal device poke thru the seat and injury my leg, this is a serious defect. I have taken this back now 4 times for new seats, motors, etc. Yet after a time it continues break and injury the driver. Seat motor will move on its own. Chrysler/jeep has been aware of this issue causing injury and defective seats for several years as this is now the 4 time on the same issue, yesterday the dealership said " when will jeep figure it out the seats are defective"
When driving through town the dash lights up completely with all the warnings coming on and the wipers turn on and won't turn off.the warnings include the brakes and airbags.this has happened 3 times in a few days.we had it diagnosed and they said it's the tipm module.this jeep doesn't even have 100k miles yet and there are tons of reports of this issue online.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, he accelerated and merged into another lane when the accelerator pedal would not disengage. The contact pulled the floor mat and removed it from the floor board and noticed that the accelerator pedal had dropped to the floor board. The rpm reading continued to increase as the failure occurred. The contact then kicked the pedal various times until the pedal disengaged. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the three different dealers for diagnosis however, none of the technicians were able to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
While driving on the highway at 70 mph, straight, flat road and the cruise control was set and the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own and i was unable to de-activate the cruise control with the buttons and it took 2 attempts applying the brake before it disengaged.this has happened twice, approx a month apart when i decided to try and use the cc again. This is a very disheartening situatioin to be in and even worse when you have our child in the car as i did.
Electric start has not been connecting.this morning i went to drive the car.cannot drive accelerator is stuck.cannot drive vehicle.
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the windows would not defrost completely, leaving blind spots at the top and bottom of the front windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was told that there was nothing that could be done to correct the issue. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the contact should have tested the safety features out on the vehicle before purchasing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 5,500.updated 08/07/12*lj
The wipers start working by themselves while driving down the road. It is very scary and i am worried what else will go wrong!!! :(
The contact owns a 2012 jeep liberty. The contact noticed that the front driver's side window failed to work without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (redlands chrysler jeep dodge ram, 500 w redlands blvd, redlands, ca 92373) where it was diagnosed that the driver's side window regulator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-992-1997 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not under the warranty and the contact had to pay for the repair. A case number was not provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
The hoses that were attached to the windshield wiper fluid are no longer connected. There are no clamps holding the hoses in place so i am assuming jeep used some sort of adhesive.

On 3 separate occasions i attempted to clear my windshield using the defrosters and was left with 8" on each side that was not cleared. This is a dangerous obstruction to visibility. I returned to the dealer and left the vehicle overnight, the dealer was not able to correct the problem and reported that it was operating as per design. I believe this represents a dangerous situation and will likely cause accidents.

I purchased a new 2012 jeep liberty from a dealership in september of 2012.the vehicle has p235/60r18 fortera hl tires on it.the advertised mileage on this tire is 60k miles. I was told that when these tires are put on new vehicles that they are sub-standard.my car now has 30,200 miles and the tires are worn smooth with normal driving.goodyear said that they would replace the 4 tires for $623.00.when i researched the reviews, my situation was rather common.the tires are unsafe to drive on in their current condition and when the public relies on an advertised mileage of 60k miles, this is a blatant misrepresentation of the product.
I was pulling out of a parking lot when my steering wheel locked up and i couldn't turn the wheel anywhere causing to drive on the curb and hit a fire hydrant.
