Vechical was sitting but running. Person in driver and passanger. Started to leave and the airbag light on dash never turned off. Drove car next day, driver only, airbag warning light came on and off intermittently. Now a few days later the airbag light stays on a'll the time. Evidently the airbag will not deploy if accident occurs. Checked loose wires at recommendation of dealership and, nope none loose. Dealership said we can schedule appointment in a week and be several hundred to fix.

Low speed head on collision with jeep liberty 2011 no airbag deployment, all forces came thru steering column resulting in partial internal amputation of right hand, breking of left hand...no recall repairs ever done, am 3rd owner of vehicle,,,recalls specified in 2011,2013,and after crash in 2016
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. While driving 35 mph, the contact became distracted and drove through a red light and crashed into another vehicle crossing an intersection. I have a jeep liberty with 40,000 miles on it that has safety issues. We bought the car new as a small suv for our family and it has been a complete piece of junk. The anniversary package that we bought is a joke. The fake leather seat have completely deteriorated which we overlooked but now the car is having safety issues. The air bag system is a joke and the failed module is no longer covered under the manufacturers warranty nor the extended warranty that the stealership sold to us. I will never ever purchase another dodge , chrysler or jeep product as they are very unreliable vehicles as well as my experiences with 4 different dealerships has been beyond horrible. They even lied to us about changing our oil in the car and offered a free oil change to compensate for the lie. What a joke they did not even change our oil and said they did. I have been working with cars for 20 years so i know a few tricks of the trade and i always do things to be assured that the said work is being performed. I can not believe that a car with 40,000 miles on it needs a new module that is recalled for the same year as my jeep but mine is not included in the recall, how horrible is that. I will never say anything good about these cars nor will i ever refer anyone i know to purchase such a piece of crap.
Air bag light came on at 57,500 miles. Was advised by dealership that this was not connected with the head rest air bag safety system as the light would not come on for that defective issue. Have appt. With dealership to have same repaired 8/25/17. Was advised that air bags may nt deply with light on as there is a promblem with system. System was ok one day and when started up the next day light came on and has been on since.
"takata recall " defective air bag
The tipm in my jeep is messing up and causing engine stalling, radio failure, etc. I have a blue driver that constantly gives me codes related to this part defect. I've also got an airbag light coming on all the time and yet my vin shows no recalls for this part. If i get into an accident my airbag might possible fail. My engine has almost stalled 3-4 times since i've owned it either from a stop light accelerating or crossing at an intersection this is very dangerous.
The check service engine light comes on because of the gas cap even if the gas cap has been replaced with a manufacture gas cap. The air bag light comes on and off for no reason.
I was involved in a crash and almost died my air bags did not deploy
The air bag dash light has recently come on, after the mechanic tried unsuccessfully to reset it the same error message pops up.when the computer is connected it shows the only airbag affected is the one in the steering wheel.this vehicle has never been in a crash, much less anything to cause the airbag to deploy so it is the original.it stays on consistently anytime the key is in the on/started position
I was pulling out of driveway and air bag went off..sound like explosion. ..i covered my face and arm gocut.
So yesterday after work i get in my car and start it, and i noticed my airbag light came on. I figured maybe the sensor was triggered by the hot weather but that still didn't make sense. So i lookup what i should do in the manual and it says take it to the dealer (they were closed). The next day, i thought surely the code would clear and all would be well. To my surprise my light was still on. I take my car to the dealership to get checked out (mind you, i have 2 warranties on this car) and i just know it will be covered. Wrong! i was shocked and dismayed to find out that my airbag has 2 problems, the seat belt sensor has blown out and the the airbag module is blown out (meaning it will not deploy if i get in an accident). On top of all this, neither of these problems are covered by my $4,000 warranty and will cost me $910 before taxes. Seriously??? i shouldn't have to pay a dime extra for what i was under the impression of already purchasing: a safe vehicle. This is absolutely unacceptable. Please do something about this soon. Someone could die.
Had a serious car accident last year and my jeep was totaled and the air bags didn't go off
Airbag light goes on intermittently on and off continually. It came on all of a sudden and has been doing this for quite some time now. I do not know how to get it to stop without going into the dealership and pay a $100 service fee to find out if there is a problem with the airbag or not. It continues as soon as the vehicle is turned on and while driving down the road. Every day all day until i return and park. I have tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for an hour and reconnecting it but it will come right back on when we reconnect it and begin to drive again.
Airbag light is illuminated and has been for 2 days. Going to bring it in to get serviced...
I was driving about 40 mph.there was a red light and some preceding cars were stopped and others were slowing down.the brakes failed to respond even after stomping on it a of couple times.the brakes only depressed down a little bit but not fully (seemed like depressing brake pedal when ignition is turned off).the vehicle slowed down to about 30 mph, but did not come to a complete stop and crashed into the rear end of vehicle in front.airbag deployed and caused minor cuts and bruises to the face.
The airbags warning light its blinking on and off and i am worry about this for our safety.
I was driving 45 in a 45 mph zone in the suburbs of mesa, az suddenly my jeep liberty pulled severely to right causing me to hit a 3 ft diameter poll. Air bag deployed as expected but the force of air bag blew a 8 inch hole in airbag and severely broke my chest cavity and abdomen causing spleen rupture and blood and toxins in my spinal fluid. My impression of airbags is to prevent injury not cause injury. Please investigate to prevent this from happening to other jeep liberty owners. Was in trauma medical center for 6 days and still home painfully healing. Steering and airbag may be defective. My jeep was totaled. Have not received police or insurance report yet. Still waiting but needed to report hopefully to prevent others from possible injury
Sudden unintended acceleration, seatbelts failed on second impact, airbag deployed after my head broke wind shield.car accelerated in another moving vehicle and accelerated faster into a concrete wall.all on closed circuit video i am left with a traumatic brain injury, disabled
Airbag light comes on when i stop or turn my blinker on. Pops up and then turns off
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while in park, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
Traveling south on the new york state thruway between exits 17 and 16 a deer out of nowhere collides with the jeep causing severe front end damage .the airbags did not deploy .
Airbag light continues to flash off and on intermittently. Will they deploy at the wrong time or not at all? there are many complaints on this issue. Please look into it.

My airbag light came on a few weeks ago and hasn't stopped going on and off it makes that annoying sound the whole trip every time i drive, the heat won't cut on it blows cold air i've had it looked at and repaired allegedly but it still won't blow hot air, the car keeps stalling and it has completely shut off on me 3 times while i have been driving once on a busy freeway i was luckily by grace of god able to turn the wheel off to the side of the road before it locked i have a 2 year old daughter and i'm currently pregnant this is insane and nobody can tell me what's wrong with it or how to fix any of these problems i got a loan for this car so now i'm stuck with this death trap, and now i'm seeing all these complaints about the same thing i'm baffled by the neglect and lack of concern or care for customers and there families who ride in their vehicles safety, i would think it would be a no brainer to recall the whole car if you can't fix the safety concerns or don't have a solution, i need a car to drive i'm wasting so much money on rentals because i have no options with this jeep i need a solution this is crazy i rely on my vehicle for work as i do uber eats and grub hub i need help!!
I was driving at 60mph on the garden state pkwy when the jeep just died!!! i was in the middle lane and all the lights went on and i barely was able to glide over 3 lanes to the shoulder and waitfor tow truck. I have this jeep for 3 years and this is the 3rd major repair i had to do on it!!!
I was driving in town 30 miles per hour, and the lift gate light came on. I opened and shut the gate and the indicator light went off. I started to drive again and the light came on agin which causes the interior lights to come on and shine right in my eyes. I am going to get it fixed, they said there is corrosion in the switch and it causes the problem. The other thing is when it gets cold out, i can't lock the doors. If i do in 5 to 15 minutes the lights start flashing and the horn starts honking, until i unlock the doors. This happened last year when it got cold also. When i took it in to have it looked at, it was not doing this, so they said just see what happens. Now it is cold and it is acting up again. I work at a prison and need to lock my vehicle. I can't drive it to work at all right now.
I presently own a 2011 jeep liberty sport.the problem is the instrument panel instrument cluster.at 30,113 miles, 6/26/14 i took the jeep in to check partial display of background lighting on the temp guage.the tech stated that all those clusters eventually fail, that this is only the start, it cannot be repaired, and you have to order the whole cluster as the problem cannot be fixed. The guage cluster was supposed to be ordered, but paperwork was lost by the dealership, and since the jeep was not now under warranty i didn't pursue a solution as it seemed a small problem.now at 52,000 miles, 5/5/17 the guage dials still work, but the jeep cannot be driven at night since the guages are not backlite and dark, such as speedometer, fuel and temp guages and are impossible to read, and the odometer, trip meters are not displaying. This problem will have to be fixed by replacement at my expense, because i felt it as a small problem and i could live with it, but over time it unsafe now. But i hope to shed some light on this ongoing defect for safety purposes and to save other jeep owners headache and frustation. Thank you and god bless.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle had a skyslider roof that malfunctioned. The contact had to forcefully shut the roof after the cables disconnected from the guide rails with the convertible sun roof. The contact called rothrock chrysler dodge jeep ram (1608 plaza ln, allentown, pa 18104, (610) 439-8485), but the parts were too hard to obtain so they did not want to attempt to make any repairs. The manufacturer informed the contact to get a repair estimate without any chance of reimbursement. The failure mileage was 44,000.
After stopping at a rest area on trip from lucas ohio to cinccinnati upon leaving found head lights not working. After approx. 1/2 hour lights came on so placed on auto and they work now, but now noticed while driving and it starts raining wipers don't work all the time also when this happens there's no horn, turn signals,or wipers so we are starting to worry about being on highway and starts raining wipers wont work and have needed horn several times and it don't work. We have noticed that when the digital compass on dash is off that the following don't work, including headlight switch, wipers, horn, turnsignals, cruise control, steering wheel radio controls, seems all problems are centered around the compass on dash going off and all steering wheel electrical components!
I tried to start my car and, with the exception of the radio and lights coming on, nothing happened.after towing it to a couple locations, the dealership determined that the car--like so many other jeeps--had a faulty tipm.i found this website after a brief search on the internet landed me on this link: http://www.chryslerproblems.com/problems/defective-tipm.shtmli believe that this part should have been recalled and i should not be on the hook for the repair cost.
I own a 2011 jeep liberty sport 4x4. The tipm is failing.when the car warms up, all of the dash warning lights illuminate, the speedometer fails and the accelerator fails. On some occasions the jeep fails to idle and dies, on other occasions the car idles too high on it's own like someone is revving the engine all on its own. I have taken it to the dealership and they have diagnosed a faulty tipm module, which will cost $1200 to replace.however, they are unable to obtain a tipm module due to none being available.i was told it could be months before they can get one in, due to the massive demand.i noticed there is a recall on this module for 2011 jeep liberty's manufactured after june 2011.my vehicle was manufactured before that date.i see that chrysler recently settled a class action law suit for this same problem in other vehicles.i work for a prestigious product liability law firm and plan to look into another class action.this problem needs to be recalled for all affected vehicles.
Right front turn signal inop.replacement tipm has circutswap for right front turn signal
Rain leaks through rear door and trips sensors and activates alarm.
I was leaving work about a month ago and i was going about 45mph.all of a sudden my car sounded like it was in neutral when it was in drive.i had to switch to the number 2 on my column just to get it to drive.then, my air bag light, abs light, hazard lights, engine light, battery light, and probably multiple others came on.my speedometer went crazy and said i was driving at 0 mph.my car starting shaking like it was going to shut off in the middle of the road.luckily, i was able to get it into a parking lot where it shut off and completely died.it sounded like a clicking but would not start when turning the key.i am very lucky that i did not get stuck in the road when it started to die and get t-boned.this should be addressed before it causes someone to crash.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the soft top cover underneath the sun roof would not pull out correctly. The soft top was part of the electrical system. The failure caused an electrical short in the engine and the check engine, tire pressure, and sun roof warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to garavel jeep (300 westport ave, norwalk, ct 06851, (203) 424-2688) where it was diagnosed that a new egr valve needed to be installed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Own 2011 jeep liberty, problem is thetipm dash lights on, are abs, traction control, air bag, check engine, brakes, seatbelt, speedometer .at first they re flashed it and up dated software , which endedup being 3 times,at no charge obviously they know theres a problem ,now they said need to replace tipm 1100 $ to replace ( so much for no charge )after replacement, now they say the abs module is bad unother 600$ ,did they cause that problem from re-flashing 3 times , did re-seach there are thousands @ thousands upon thousand of complaints
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. On several occasions, the headlights and windshield wipers operated independently. The contact also stated that the driver and passenger turn signal indicators failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Gate light indicator appeared on dash. This has happened several times since - usual during moist weather conditions. Also, for no reason, the back gate latch has either come apart or broke.
Blower motor failed may 2012. The car was so new that the dealership had to order the part. It was replaced and the heat works but there are a couple weird noises. One, it sounds like it is taxing my alternator like you would normally hear if there was an amplifier installed in the car. And two, on the dash/feet low setting it sounds like there is paper blowing in the wind and heat does not actually come out on the driver side feet until the car is completely warmed up. The dealership kindly replaced a door run channel, no charge, which eliminated some noise and a slight draft coming from the door. The rest of the overall noise was yet to be determined at this point.
Today and six days ago i parked my jeep, turned off the ignition and removed my key. I went to start my car about one hour later and there were no display lights on my dashboard. The vehicle would not start and the shift lever could not be moved. I thought i might have a dead battery. A friend stopped by my car. He tried to start the car with my key. No electrical power or lights were present. He opened the hood and said everything looked fine. He closed the hood hard. He put the key in the ignition and moved it around. The display lights came on and the car started. I had the battery checked and it was fine. I put a new battery in the car less than one year ago. The same thing happened today while i was at the post office. Is this an electrical problem or a bad ignition? a neighbor said he heard something about an ignition problem with chrysler.

Driving my 2011 jeep liberty with 54,000 miles at 8am saturday june 10 2017 at 50mph on a rural road. Without warning, the dashboard lights up, tachometer goes crazy, and the car died. The battery is 8 months old, there's no power at all to the cabin. It's nota fuel pump issue, the car is died at 50mph. Fortunately, i was able to pull off onto the shoulder. All indications is that it's the tipm totally integrated power module. Which dodge knows is an issue and you all have denied as an issue. I had to have the car towed to a local shop, there was no starting it. It was actually drug up onto the flatbed because the transmission was locked in park. Turning the key did nothing to free the shift lever. Car complaints.com speaks loudly and clearly to the tipm. When i opened the hood, there is a relay clicking away, i removed and replaced that relay, no change to the dead liberty. Vin [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The doors do lock through the electrical system. You can manually lock and unlock the vehicle but can not lock/unlock through the electrical system. Cd player also does not work. I believe the issue may be stemming from the fuse box under the hood, i have checked all the fuses and everything shows to be good.
Well, upon buying the vehicle the defects that culminated are left blinker housing, had water condensation, coolant leakage onto engine, water pump replaced, tensioner, lifter replaced, these areas i noticed a chain like rattle and still to this day when vehicle is cold or sometimes started up, will make a chain like rattle.rear shocks were leaking and replaced. Sometimes engine stalls at idle at red lights, but quickly idles beyond 1000 rpms, upon acceleration. Exhaust pipe readjusted, this was noticed by mechanic. Several other problems are occuring, while vehicle has been turned off, myself and family notices a sound coming from the dash, as if c.d. Is spining in disc changer while vehicle turned off. Actuator is in need of replacing for a/c, noise is noticed, when either a/c or heater is turned on/off.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the horn would sound without warning whether the vehicle was being driven or turned off and parked. The horn would also fail intermittently and without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five times, but the failure had not been resolved. The manufacturer had their engineer's inspect the vehicle and they were unable to find what was causing the failure. The failure mileage was 13,000 and the current mileage was 15,000.updated 04/19/12*ljthe consumer stated the horn and the alarm were not working properly. While driving my 2011 jeep liberty with the cruise control set at 70mph on i-65 interstate coming out of gary indiana the tell-tales lit up and the car dropped out of cruise control and it took the car a few seconds to gain power again. This all started with the drivers door not unlocking with the remote.a diagnostics was run on the car and they said they couldn't find anything wrong, other than a rear sensor on the brake making the brake light come on.doing an internet research the tipm sensor is the cause of most of these problems which chrysler doesn't want to admit.this same issue was deemed not an issue a few years back by the nhtsa with the liberty but deemed no good by the nhtsa for the jeep cherokee and dodge durango. This was a dangerous situation for me and my family.if i hadn't took action as quick as i did we would have been rear ended by a semi.i don't feel safe driving this suv and this is my wife's car which she takes my son to school in.the nhtsa needs to do something about this issue now.
The alternator on the vehicle went which affected the battery and the computer system, car nearly caught on fire. The repair person said this should have been listed as a recall because a certain fuse could have avoided the problem. The computer is on back order, going on 3 weeks and this appears to be a ongoing problem with these vehicles.
The jeep will randomly stall when i try to accelerate, especially in situations where i need to accelerate quickly, e.g. At an intersection or when merging onto the interstate.i will press the gas, and the jeep will not accelerate.i will push down more on the gas, and the jeep does not respond.it has nearly caused an accident every time.also, the jeep will randomly not start.i will turn the key, there is one click, all the lights on the dash come on as usual, but the vehicle will not fire up.i can turn the key repeatedly, but the vehicle will not start.i have to let the jeep sit for about 20 minutes before it will start up again.no codes are sent to the computer signaling an error or malfunction.no lights come on in the dash, either.my jeep is randomly not functioning when being started or when accelerating and yet, the jeep is not sending any codes or displaying any lights to indicate any problems.the tipm (totally integrated power module) is completely faulty and is going to cause serious harm to my family and others!
Electrical icons continue to appear on dashboard like traction, abs, service engine soon, gauge for rpm is 0 mp, engine gauge remain at engine speed. When taken to jeep dealership for repair i was told there was nothing wrong with the jeep it is running correctly. And yet the jeep cut completely down for 10 mins on the expressway. When on the street all icons come on and i have to pull over because jeep has shut down.
While driving the window driver side suddenly dropped and smoke came out of the driver door panel. Smoke increased rapidly and he began to emanate from the door. Once pulled over flames began coming through the plastic portion of the door where the window and door lock controls are located.
After filling my gas tank and grocery shopping, i came out to my car and it wouldn't start, i then had it towed to my local jeep dealership, they diagnosed it as a faulty tipm sensor, after researching online, turns out i am one of hundreds of thousands dealing with the same issue, chrysler should have to be held responsible for knowingly continuing to install faulty sensors and then not assisting with repairs. Outrageous!!! what is the point of investing in an american brand when they are not held accountable?? losing all my faith...
While driving home from the grocery store, the dome lights and gate open warning light came on. Since it was after dark, the light from the dome light was blinding and made it very difficult to see. I immediately pulled over and checked the tailgate. The tailgate and window were both firmly latched. When starting to drive again, it went out but almost immediately came back on. Fortunately i was about a mile from home and made it home without incident.this should be reported to the nhtsa as a potential crash problem as the bright light suddenly coming on could cause an accident.i know there are some other electrical recalls for this model and year jeep and this should be added to the list.
Tl - the contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that anti-freeze was leaking on the passenger side floor board. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the heater coil was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage as 64,000. Rk
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty limited. The contact was driving approximately 40-70 mph when the vehicle began to hesitate and jerk without warning. The failure became a continuous occurrence and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to the faulty software but there was no remedy to the failure. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times but never repaired. The contact stated that most recently, the vehicle was left in the dealers possession for approximately thirty days for extensive inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 606.
Window not working properly, cannot be fixed by chrysler?
"takata recall" i had this vehicle for over a year.about two months in it started shutting off, all the lights on the dashboard lights up for no reason.sometime when i drive the headlights shut of and the vehicle starts shaking tremendously.the vehicle occasionally stops when i am driving on the interstate or wherever.i have taken it in on numerous occasions but the dealer cannot seem to find the problem.
The check service engine light comes on because of the gas cap even if the gas cap has been replaced with a manufacture gas cap. The air bag light comes on and off for no reason.
The rear window opens unexpectedly when the vehicle is off and unlocked.this has occurred numerous times, and it may be occurring when the vehicle is locked, as well, however, this has not been confirmed.since the rear window sometimes opens during rain events, the vehicles interior has a musty, moldy odor as a result of the rear window opening.
The lift gate sensor gets damp when it rains due to the way the weather stripping is installed on the back window on the gate. This causes the gate ajar sensor to go off thus causing the alarm to go off. The only way to stop it is to not be able to lock your vehicle which is not safe either. This has been happening repeatedly almost daily for the last 2 months.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. Whenever the horn was engaged, there was a delayed response. The horn pad, located in the center of the steering wheel, required repeated attempts in order to activate because it did not allow the driver to press anywhere to sound the horn. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5.
On 3 separate occasions, over the course of the last 5 months, my jeep has just randomly quit (engine stalled).this has happened while driving down the road -(twice on a freeway, once on a surface street)- all the dash indicator lights have come on and my jeep engine has just quit. I've been very lucky that i was not in heavy traffic and was able to coast to the side of the road without incident. After a couple of attempts, i was able to restart my jeep. There is no warning to this random stalling, no sputtering, no loss of power, it just quits with no indication.my mechanic states that this due to a defective totally integrated power module that is currently on a nationwide backorder.there are 18 orders in front of mine from my local dealership (that's just one dealership).this defective component causes your vehicle to randomly stall out while driving - potentially putting myself or others in danger of an accident. I'm told it could be weeks or months before this part is available, so every time i get in my jeep i wonder: "will this be the day that i get in an accident" or will someone else get seriously hurt by hitting me?how many others are thinking the same thing? 100's - 1000's?i can't afford to rent a car for an undeterminable amount of time, so i have no choice but to drive this very unsafe vehicle and risk my life and the life of others on a daily basis.
10/20/17 driving 5 minutes & brakes locked - jeep wouldn't move at all - after 20 minutes jeep ran normally for 3 weeks; 11/9/17 driving grandbabies home - going 40 on a major highway - brakes again lock up jeep came to a stop & would not move forward and would not reverse - esc indicator light on, esc off appeared in the odometer and the abs light was on - the smell of brakes was overwhelming - called aaa for a tow - after an hour - all sorts of creaking noises could be heard - ? brakes releasing- was then able to drive the jeep - cancelled aaa - drove jeep immediately to my mechanic - after 2 days he could not figure out what the problem is nor could the issue be duplicated ; called the jeep dealer that i bought it from on essington ave in philadelphia - they said they had never heard of this issue - to bring the jeep in to be "diagnosed" for $115.00 - when asked for a loaner - they told me i'd have to pay for a rental - there are 55,000 miles on the jeep
On two occasions, while traveling on high speed highways, my jeep suddenly lost power.when that happened, i lost power steering and had to muscle the car to the side of the road.i removed the keep from the ignition. When i tried again to start it, although difficult, it started.my mechanic ran an electrical test, and on the repair order he wrote:"research symptoms.find high failure rate of tipm module.recommend returning to dealer" because the apparent frequency across the country may lead to "possible warranty extension or open campaign".
The check service engine light comes on because of the gas cap even if the gas cap has been replaced with a manufacture gas cap. The air bag light comes on and off for no reason.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the engine started making noise while warming up after the starter was changed. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the engine did not leak, but consumed the oil and blew a rod. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 01/27/17*lj updated 7/13/18
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that coolant was leaking onto the driver's side floorboard area. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the heater core was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 52,000 and the current mileage was 52,600.
The engine was maintained with periodic synthetic oil & filter changes. The engine ran flawlessly. The plugs and wires were premium. The engine began to vibrate when the key was turned. This occurred after shopping on the way home. There was no loss of power or other anomaly prior to this catastrophic failure. The shop i brought it to tested the computer and fuel pump all ok. There are numerous complaints and engine re-manufacturers are posting comments that the engine design is flawed.
Drove all over town and to and from work without incident or indication that something is wrong. I parked the liberty for about 15 minutes before restating. I turned the key and the engine turned over but was loud noise and was shaking as if was struggling for fuel ( 1/2 tank by the way). Tried starting her up and just kept shutting off. Had her towed to authorized jeep dealer service shop. Can't seem to diagnose the problem they say it might be a misfire in cylinder # or a broken valve.jeeps been into shop numerous times to fix tpms they've change the controls but still vic says check tpms.
Purchased vehicle used in january 2020. Five days later, the first dtc illuminated, and it has been an absolute nightmare ever since. So far i have replaced the purge valve, water pump, serpentine belt, radiator, alternator, pcv valve, tensioner assembly, front brakes, left exhaust manifold, door seals, sway bar bushings/links - all within the first 10,000 miles. Brake caliper pistons seized and locked, causing brakes to smoke and overheat, discovered exhaust leak only after developing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. Even after all of that, the vehicle still sounds awful and has serious performance issues. I fully expect that the engine will be toast any day, and i still have almost three years worth of payments left on it.
I was driving out of my neighborhood and my car just shut off.i had to turn the key off, put it in park and restart it.
While sitting at a stop light, my jeep just shut off with no warning. When i tried to restart it, it made a strange sound while it was turning over. I called a tow truck to take it to the dealership & was told that the engine valves were damaged & will require a new engine at $8100.00
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty.
My husband had driven to a doctors appointment. Whenhe got in the jeep to leave it wouldn't start. We had it towed to our mechanic. After he inspected the vehicle he said a piston ring had come off the #1 cylinder and fallen below the piston causing the cylinder to be damaged. It will require a new motor which will cost $4000-$5000 if we can find a decent engine. Apparently these engines can be difficult to find and are more expensive because this is a common problem.
No matter what speed (40-75mph), when vehicle is in 4th gear, the power train shutters.dealer acknowledges something is wrong but doesn't know what to change...they are now talking to me like its road noise...which is completely wrong.if driving it and it is shutters you can shift into neutral and it goes away....its a definite problem with the transmission/drive train.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty 4x4. The contact stated that the engine warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to diagnose the problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The failure mileage and vin were unavailable.kmj
This has happened multiple times since i bought the car. I have taken to dealer multiple time advised computer says ok and they cant find a problem. First, time happened as pulling out into traffic crossing 6 lanes and engine power died..foot still on accelerator and engine and power on but rpm drop to 0 and car wont move..large 18 wheel semi slammed on brakes as i sat helpless in the middle of lanes unable to move and came to a stop 2 inches from my door. After reapplying foot to accelerator car moved and i drove straight to dealer advised everything fine and nothing they could do.....incidents sometimes only happen once every 3-6 weeks.after a few more incidents of same problem took to dealer advised same unable to find problem..last time they said they changed a few computer chips...for about 6 weeks thought and prayed problem fixed...however, this past week on way to work sitting at idle in double turn lane in one of busiest/largest intersections the arrow light turned green i started to accelerate and rpm dropped and car wouldn't move..i pushed foot all the way to ground multiple times and car would not respond. However, power and engine on. This time i was desperate as cars were honking at me and racing around me almost hitting me. I even tried to put car in park and hit accelerator and no rpm engine response...trying not to panic, i decided to risk shutting car off. I turned key and shut off engine and turned key and restarted engine put in drive and car went back to normal..with work i cannot afford to keep sitting at a dealer with a car only 1 year old. Try dealer again. 1 other episode when someone in car with me as i accelerated car sputtered and clunked and i had to release and apply to accelerator and then went to normal..i am only blessed with an angel that this car has not yet killed me or someone else.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the engine seized without warning and the vehicle was unable to be driven. Quirk chrysler dodge jeep ram (830 plain st, marshfield, ma 02050, (781) 319-3000) diagnosed that the engine assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.
P0300 cylinder misfire code appeared when my vehicle wouldn't start and now i need to replace my left side engine head and it's costing me around $2000.00 for parts and labor.my vehicle has a little over 60,000.00 miles and is out of warranty and not covered and i contacted chrysler and they will not do anything about this.they are well aware of this faulty engine and there needs to be a recall or chrysler needs to pay for my repairs.i have a 3.47 liter engine with only 60,000.00 miles and it needs to be replaced on the left side.chrysler had this same issue with the 3.6 liter engine and extended the warranty and the same or recall should be done with the 3.7 liter engine.
I purchased my jeep liberty on 1/7/14 and in the first 3 days the car began to stall while driving. It first happened going at slower speeds (15-20mph) and thenhappened to me going down a busy road at over 45 mph. The engine completely turns off and power steering fails. Luckily i did not cause any accidents. I immediately contacted the dealer (carmax in orlando fl) and notified them of the issue. I brought my jeep in for repairs and multiple repairs were done to the engine, suspension etc. I picked up my jeep up on 1/22/14 and was told all repairs needed had been taken care of. I began my commute to work and got there safely. When i went to lunch on my break once again at a red light my jeep stalled. And then again another .5 mi down the road going at approx. 20 mph. I would like to know what is the concern that is being addressed with this problem that multiple people are having with their vehicles. So at least i can tell my mechanic what i would liked fixed when it goes back into the maintenance dept. Please help.
Driving on highway, began hearing a high pitched humming noise, began smelling a burning rubber smell, pulled over to side of highway, and smoke began coming from under the hood. Within 10 mins, the front end of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. Have owned vehicle for a year and a half, and have had no issues prior to this incident. Car seemed to be functioning normally prior to this incident.
2011 jeep liberty with 76,310 experienced immediate and catastrophic engine failure while driving on a city street.just prior to failing the oil pressure and check engines lights came on. A knocking noise occurred right before failure.oil blew from the engine covering roadway under the vehicle.the vehicle was always serviced by the local jeep dealership per the recommended schedules.the vehicle was towed to the same dealership where it was serviced.tear down of the engine by jeep certified technicians revealed several failed components making exact root cause of failure unknown. Cost to replace the engine and related parts was $7,800. Chrysler customer care was contacted about covering the cost of the engine.any assistance by chrysler was denied.
Right front turn signal inop.replacement tipm has circutswap for right front turn signal
During fuel fill-up, directly after the pump automatically shuts off, a large amount of gas will spill back out of the filler hose. This happens at all gas stations. During the first time, i was standing right next to the gas and had gasoline splashed on my pants a shoes. I have to estimate the amount of fuel to put into the tank as to avoid spillage. I am afraid that if i go to a full-service station, the attendant will be doused with gas at my expense.
When filling the gas tank, gasoline overflows and spills out of the vehicle. This happens every time i fill up! it's a very dangerous situation and not very good for the environment!
This has happen to my vehicle just about every time i go fill up at the gas station.iask to fill it cash and every time the gas overflows out of filler tube.gas runs down the side of my vehicle going all over the ground.took it to my local dealership and had them look into the situation.after getting it back they told me that the npf (no problem found).i have done the research and have found tsb's from earlier model years of having the same problem.this issue of overflowing the tank is a serious condition and should be recalled due to the fact that 1.it has the potential to create an explosion.gas overflowing onto the side of the vehicle omits vapors and the vapors are what explode. 2. With the gas going all over the side of the vehicle it prematurely takes away the top clear coat and paint layers.which will eventually could go to bare metal creating a rust issue. 3 is the environmental issue, according to njdep if one drop of gas gets on the ground it legally has to be reported to them.knowing that most stations are operated under extreme speeds, i highly doubt that it is being reported properly.i know for a fact that the service stations in my area the employees are clueless to the rules an regulations.i called the corporate office for a station and they said they were sorry and offered me a $10.00 gift card.in hindsight it was not their fault.it is the faulty fuel tank and pressure system. This needs to be looked at seriously, just because there hasn't been a fire or any serious injuries to date doesn't mean it is not a real issue.i hope this gets looked into and properly mitigated.thank you
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. After refueling the vehicle completely, fuel would leak from the fuel tank. When filling up the gas tank, the pump will stop when the tank is full. Then however, the tank burps up fuel all over the place, at least a couple cups worth. This makes it impossible to fill up the tank all the way, and if i do then gasoline gets spilled all over the place: the ground, the car body, and all over the tire. Not safe.
After stopping or slowing down the vehicle has tended to stall or almost stall.this has now occurred 4 times, or which two of these were when turning through an intersection which could have caused an accident.in all cases fuel tanks were greater than 1/4 full.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. While the contact was fueling the vehicle, the fuel tank stopped midway into filling up. As a result, the fuel spilled onto the ground. The fuel nozzle shut off repeatedly, which the contact felt was a safety issue. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The dealer was not notified. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
The gas spilled back while fueling.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v252000 (fuel system); however, the part needed for the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.
When the hell is chrysler going to take the fuel overflow/spillage issue seriously!rather than just charging their customers $1200 more to replace tank, replace the check valve in the tanks! jeezus!!!!https://youtu.be/v4dxhsachb4it affects so many freaking people. Get your heads out of your butts and do something about it instead of sticking your heads in the sand and not giving a crap how many people are getting covered in gasoline for eff's sake!c'mon people...chime in. These a-holes aren't going to do anything until we friggin' rise-up, or people start catching on fire...for the love of god!
Every time i fill up i get a backwash of gas i tried different gas stations with the same results i googled this issue and found out this has happened to 1000's of other jeep owners when i called my jeep dealer they want to charge me 100's of dollars to fix the issue which i think should be a recall. Can you please help me with this issue.
Fuel sprays from filler neck while filling up. This has happened at multiple different gas stations. Its to the point i don't fill up any more i just put in $30 from empty. The pump does stop once this happens.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. While refueling the vehicle and while the fuel tank was full, the nozzle clicked and fuel suddenly spilled from the fuel tank hole. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 10/17/17*lj
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated there was fuel leaking from the vehicle. The failure occurred when the vehicle was refueled. Vehicle purchased new in april 2011.3 years later in may 2014, the vehicle began spewing fuel out when refueling the vehicle at any and all gas stations.a significant amount of fuel runs down the side of the vehicle, onto the ground and onto pants and shoes if you are standing close to the vehicle.the gas fumes get inside the vehicle when you open the vehicle door.this poses a hazard to the person pumping the gas, to occupants inside the vehicle and to by standers.this is a well documented problem on the internet for jeep suv's.i have replaced the esmi housing 2 times, and this does not solve the problem.i am now told i will need to replace my entire gas tank because the rollover antispill valve inside the tank is defective.i found a recall called m11 which fixes only 2012 jeep compass and 2012 jeep patriot vehicles that have the same problem.i have called jeep and they stated the problem has been resolved and they will not help me.
Every time i am refueling my jeep liberty the stop flow for the gas tank does not engage and causes fuel to leak to overflow onto my vehicle, the ground and on me. It creates a large puddle of gasoline and is very dangerous.
During filling up with gas, with the vehicle parked on level ground with engine off, the fueling nozzle will click off when the tank is full. However, approximately 1 second after the nozzle clicks off, a significant amount of fuel surges back outonto the side of the vehicle, the operator, and the ground. Estimate about 1-2 cups of fuel. This happens regardless of whether fueling fast or slow. ! aside from damaging the paint and finish on the vehicle, fuel splashing onto the operator creates a very hazardous situation!
Constant issue with fuel overflow when i fill the car with gas. The service station pump shuts off when the tank is full, but fuel comes gushing out of the filler neck. It happens at all gas stations.
When filling the gas tank at gas station gas spews out of the gas tank, down the side of the car and onto the pavement when gas nozzle clicks indicating tank is full.some gas splashes on clothes.
When fueling, the pump's auto shut off doesn't work and gas spills out everywhere. Happens every time we fill up and at different stations.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. After refueling the vehicle completely, fuel would leak from the fuel tank. Every time i fill my car up, unless i fill it very slowly and listen carefully, gas will gush out as the tank gets full, even after i have stopped pumping. It gets everywhere and makes a mess.this seems very dangerous.
Jeep will not start after it runs for a while.if it sits for 15 minutes, it won't start.it cranks over but does not start.if i wait another 15 minutes or so, then it will start.also having problems filling gas tank.it will spill gas out at you or keep shutting gas nozzle off when filling at gas station.this isn't a one time problem.it happens all the time.gas station attendant gets very frustrated trying to fill tank.
When adding fuel to vehicle fuel will gush out from fill hose connection after fuel dispensing nozzle shuts off.
Fuel spit back during refueling, puddle of gasoline left on ground at gas station.fuel nozzle shuts off repeatedlyhard to fill with fuel(not sure when started for many years)
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. When fueling up the vehicle, the pump clicked indicating that the tank was full. When the pump was removed, fuel spewed out on the ground and the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,600.
When getting gas at the station, gas would come back out of the tank, spilling all over the car.
When filling gas tank fuel gushes from fuel fill tube before fuel filling nozzle shuts off, happens every time unless you manually fill fuel tank very slowly. Outten motors in (hamburg, pa) told me fuel roll over valve is bad, fuel tank replacement required, cost would be $1051.73.
I owned my 2011 jeep liberty since november 2010. When filling the tank with gas,as it nears full, the gasoline expels out of the tank.this happens nine out of 10 times that i fill the tank , and has happened as long as i've owned the vehicle.
There isan issue with gasoline overflowing from the tank of our2011 liberty after the gas pump has shut off. This happens after the initial shut off as we are not topping off the tank. About 1 second after the pump stops automatically gasoline will spray out of the filler neck and all over the ground. This has happened at different filling stations; so it does not seem like a pump issue. It only happens after the pump has stopped. It does not happen while the gas pump is running.
Fuel overflows and does not shut off properly.gas splashed all over me .
Brought to dealer for the same noises i've been complaining about for the past 9 months. The old tires were balanced and rotated prior to the second (noise/suspension) complaint to the dealer 5/10/12. Immediately prior to this jan 2013 appointment i replaced scalloped tires with 4 brand new tires, balanced and i paid for the alignment. I still get helicopter sounding noise at high speed and asked that the suspension which was verified as not the problem back in may 2012 be checked again. A technician went for a drive with me and heard it. The dealership said that two tires were unbalanced. Back where i bought the tires, i had them re-do the balance and align. Still not happy with the same noise. I again brought the car back to the dealer mar 2013 and i told them to send a repo truck to my house if the noise is not found. I knew i was going to pay for balance/align only this time the tech finally says that multiple parts have been replaced on the same model for the same noise and nothing gets rid of it, the noise was described to me as a "common liberty sound" and that it comes from the power-train with no remedy. Every time i go in for an answer, i'm offered some other service which "may" be needed. This time it was rear brake pads and rotors. Not the cause of the thumping helo-pad noise, decline.
Transmission shudders/chatters when on the open highway when going at least 50 miles per hour. When this occurs you have to take your foot off the gas to get the transmission shudder to stabilize. This will be the second time i am bringing to the dealer for transmission shudder related problems.
From the first day i bought the vehicle i had problems with transmission. Vehicle rolls back while i gear. I have taken it back three times but it still isn't fixed. Three times i have rolled back while stopping at a light while in drive. This is s automatic so one would not be expecting to roll backwards. Each time. I aalmost hit a vehicle behind me. Ive been told by other owners that they have expe rienced the same. Dealer says it is normal!!!!
Vehicle was parked on top of a hill, transmission in park, key turned off.i sat in front seat for several minutes while engine was stopped and turned off, i got out of the jeep, opened the back door to get out some equipment i was needing for work.the jeep began to roll down the hill knocking me sideways.it was in the 2 wd position.i could only watch as the jeep was headed for two lane traffic, this is the second time this jeep has done this, same scenario.both times the wheels were all rolling, not sliding.i used the 4 wd earlier the same days, on both occasions but it was in 2 wd at time of rolling.had it towed to a jeep dealer garage, they cannot diagnose it, would not allow a rental car, had to leave it with dealer to further try to "replicate" and diagnose.very dangerous!both events the jeep was on a hill and rolled towards busy highways, thankfully stopped on own without hitting something or someone other than me on the second event.thankfully no children/pets/others were near or behind this vehicle!
It not reverse or shifting into gear.
Vehicle can shift from drive to reverse and drive to park with out pressing the brake pedal.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. My drivers side seat belt won't latch when stationary or in motion.
The drivers seatbelt doesn't latch. It takes several attempts to get it to latch. Otherwise it pulls out and you think it's latched. This is extremely unsafe !!!
Sudden unintended acceleration, seatbelts failed on second impact, airbag deployed after my head broke wind shield.car accelerated in another moving vehicle and accelerated faster into a concrete wall.all on closed circuit video i am left with a traumatic brain injury, disabled

It not reverse or shifting into gear.
Headrest popped apart. Cannot be fixed. We were told that part thinks it has been deflated and cannot be reset.
Noticed heat and smell coming from rear left wheel. The first time it happened the brake caliper froze, i had it changed in 2014. Also on the same wheel i had to changed 2 times the abs sensor, one time in 2015 and again 2017. My mechanic observed the brake hose (rear left wheel) malfunctionned which in turn is melting the brake pad which is smudging onto the rotor. He explained that the brake fluid is boiling due to the brake hose.jeep is 43,000 and this will be my second brake job. I need to change brake hose, pad, caliper and rotor on both side to make it safe to drive. Please help me find if there is a problem with the brake hose that has been reported by others owners of jeep liberty 2011. Thank you very much. The brake hose is back ordered and we were told it will take about 2 to 3 weeks for the part. It is scary!
After sitting at a red light, i attempted to pull off from the stop, the abs light and the traction control light came on and the rear brakes locked up.i was a mile from home, i put the vehicle in four wheel drive in order to get it to move.i drove one mile to my home and parked, i could smell the brakes.i let the vehicle sit for approximately one hour, tried to drive it and it operated as if nothing had happened.i drove the vehicle again the next day with no problems.
If the car is stopped on a hill the brakes will seize up. The traction control and abs lights will stay on. It takes about a day for the brakes to release. This can happen while driving as well. It has happened 5 times. The systems can also be reset by pulling the abs fuses. The vehicle will not move while the brakes are locked. This has happened on the highway and the middle of the road.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty 4x4. The contact stated while driving approximately 48 mph he encountered a large puddle of water. The brake pedal was depressed and immediately the vehicle spun out of control causing the contact to crash into a nearby wall. The driver sustained bruises to the left leg. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a towing facility until further investigation. The vehicle had not been repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
Driving my vehicle today and started shaking in front passenger side. I pulled over thinking a flat tire. Nothing and continued. I then began smelling burning and more shaking and smoke. I pulled over again at this point .my front brakes locked up. One month ago i had similar situation with back brakes and had to have both calibers and roters and pads replaced. All four calibers will now have been replaced on this vehicle and roters due to calibers freezing . Vehicle was towed and undrivable.
My vehicle was in motion and i was driving on a three lane street with a speed limit of 45 mph when the abs brake system suddenly seized. The brakes remained engaged and the only way i could drive my car was to put it in reverse, then neutral then drive. My entire drive home i could hear the brakes and whenever i had to stop at a stop sign the brakes would lock.
Brakes locked up 3/2017 had it towed to anderson jeep in az. They replaced the abs module and hcu.100 days later they locked up again in mn. Towed to forest lake jeep.when tested it worked ok then later they drove it and it locked up while they were traveling down the road. Codes showed same parts have to be replaced.they don't feel confident that this will correct the problem.we are concerned that this will cause a safety problem in the future. The latest was on a city street while car was in motion.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. While stopped, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. The abs and traction warning indicators illuminated. The air bags in the driver and passenger side headrests deployed. The contact sustained injuries to the neck and nerve damage to the left side. The passenger seated in the front sustained neck injuries, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed a default in a wheel sensor that needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a brake sensor defect. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, but the issue could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Low speed head on collision with jeep liberty 2011 no airbag deployment, all forces came thru steering column resulting in partial internal amputation of right hand, breking of left hand...no recall repairs ever done, am 3rd owner of vehicle,,,recalls specified in 2011,2013,and after crash in 2016
My son was driving my jeep liberty and lost control of the jeep because the front right axle broke and caused him to run into a wall. He has a leg & back injury due to this accident. We have only had the car for 7 months when this happened.

The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. While driving 70 mph, the sky slider roof began to separate from the vehicle. The contact taped the sky slider shut; however, water began to seep through the tape. The contact also stated that the turn signals, windows, and driver side door panel became inoperable over time. The local dealer (atlantic chrysler jeep, 6820 tilton road, egg harbor township, nj 08234) was contacted and stated that the failure would recur if repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that a mildew odor was present. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
Gate light indicator appeared on dash. This has happened several times since - usual during moist weather conditions. Also, for no reason, the back gate latch has either come apart or broke.
At speed above 55 or in heavy winds the sound of air coming through the sunroof can be very disconcerting. Turning up the radio to hear it becomes a must. The sudden gusts cause you to take your eyes off the road at times. With the increased noise it becomes increasingly difficult to hear outside noise which could easily become a safety concern. The local jeep dealer says there is no fix, and not to worry unless it leaks. He also stated he had seen this problem before. My call to customer service ( i have the ref # if needed) resulted in much the same discourse. [xxx] was nice enough but did not have a satisfactory answer to my dilemma. He certainly would not admit to a design flaw with no way to tighten the soft sunroof down. Nor is there presently a hard top to eliminate the problem, he indicated when i pressed him.this moving air noise is already a distraction and if it gets louder i hate to think what might occur.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
#1 problem, after driving in wet weather, "gate open" illuminates on dash, interior lights all come on, then when i get stopped turn off car and lock it, within about 5 minutes alarm starts going off, shut off alarm, within a few minutes usually will go off again, usually have to take anything of value with me because the only way to make the alarm not sound is to keep it unlocked.#2 problem, opened back passenger door, button stuck in, wouldn't release, had to tie the door shut to be able to drive to dealer, tech came out and stuck a knife in a little hole to release button, informing me that latch was rusted on inside and whole assembly will have to be replaced.the jeep is 4 years old, body in excellent condition no rust at all, cost to replace this is 179.00.not covered under the 2,000 dollar warranty that they talked me into when i bought the car.its called the ultimate warranty. I'm sure the alarm issue isn't covered either..very low quality vehicle that i paid way too much for.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. While driving 45 mph, the soft top of the vehicle opened without warning. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and observed that a pin was missing and the top started to slide open. The contact mentioned that this was the second occurrence. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a pin was missing and a cable fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 80,000.
This jeep liberty has a sky slider roof which opens like a convertible top. The top malfunctioned when trying to open it and we were unable to close it electronically with the control buttons. It remained partially open at the front and along the sides. This happened while using it in a straight line at around 55 mph on a 2-lane highway in north dakota while on a trip about 250 miles from home. The dealer was able to manually push it down most of the way but informed us that the entire assembly including motors, arms, cables, and cloth top would have to be replaced. The parts were ordered 7/9/18, and it is now 10/2/18 and jeep does not have a supplier for the part. I contacted jeep customer care 877-426-5337 on 9/14/18 to see if they could escalate the situation but they state jeep is waiting for a new supplier. I have a case opened which is assigned to a case manager. Driving it creates a safety concern because it has to be driven with the windows partially down because the air pressure pushes the top up and creates gaps to the outside air. It is disconcerting and distracting driving in the rain and here in minnesota it will be very cold and snowy soon, which will create an even greater safety concern for the 79 year old owner.
Hi the main concern and problem with this car is the sky slider! millions of people are experiencing this issue all around. It failed me right away! after on incident when i was driving on highway the sky slider just came off!!! it almost caused multiply accidents! you can't even find the parts since jeep stop making knowing that the messed up !
Retractable roof would not close properly. When closing, roof would not fully close and seal creating openings exposing the interior to harsh weather conditions.when driving car to seek repair, front section of roof came off track and flew backwards.fortunately it did not fly off the car but the potential for this to happen is a very serious safety concern. This is not an uncommon problem for this retractable roof system so, i trust this it will be recalled for repair/replacement before a tragedy occurs.
Skyslider roof stopped working, doesn't seal, could potentially fly off, manufacturer states parts are no longer available and will not be manufactured
I purchased the vehicle from the original owner. It is an immaculate vehicle. However, the sky glider had leaked sometime in the past ownership terribly.stained inside. They told me they had replaced the seal at some point.it still leaks terribly. When it rains, wash it, etc.i'd like to know what to do to permanently fix the leak
I have a 2011 jeep liberty with a sky slider, the slider no longer operates and it leaks water the dealership says it will charge 150 just to look at but not fix i have read that many owners are having this same issue. Slider roof also makes a lot of noise while closed on highway like it going to fly off.
Jeep sky slider full open roof cannot close.the vehicle was stationary.this is an electric roof with no option to manually close.

It not reverse or shifting into gear.

The doors do lock through the electrical system. You can manually lock and unlock the vehicle but can not lock/unlock through the electrical system. Cd player also does not work. I believe the issue may be stemming from the fuse box under the hood, i have checked all the fuses and everything shows to be good.

I have a 2011 jeep liberty with a sky roof, our veh barely has 85k miles on it. We are having an issue with the roof leaking, wind noise and now out sky slider has broken. We had no had any issues prior, one day when we were trying to open the sky slider it would not open. When it finally did open, it got stuck while we were closing it and now we have a giant hole in our roof because it will not close.
Tamara recall, the converter that switches from heat to cold is not working. I don't have any heat coming from the vents just cold air and sometimes lukewarm air but not hot air. I really don't know the name of the part but i know it is under the dashboard and i have seen video on u tube about how this part malfunction and it seems to be a big problem with jeeps.
I have a jeep liberty 2011 w/ a sky slider roof- where the entire roof is fabric and slides back.it stopped working & wouldn't shut on tuesday and the only place that could put it into a garage and look at it before the rain- was the dealership.i heard back from them today- they no longer make the part that's broken.they were able to shut the roof, but i can never open it again b/c it won't shut and i'll have to pay them $243 again to close it. I'm reading online that this is a common problem ' and even when the roof is shut it- wind can get under it and blow completely off- potentially causing accidents if it were to rip completely off. I can't believe this hasn't been recalled. I know its common for places to stop making parts after 10 years, but there should be some resolution offered to shut your roof with reassurance it won't rip off and hurt someone.i'm pretty much scared to drive my jeep over 50 mph now and jeep basically just threw me back out in the world with no way to fix it because they have no way to fix it.this is no way for a company to perform . I was a loyal jeep owner since 1997! here are some pics of other peoples roofs flying off.
While driving the window driver side suddenly dropped and smoke came out of the driver door panel. Smoke increased rapidly and he began to emanate from the door. Once pulled over flames began coming through the plastic portion of the door where the window and door lock controls are located.
Skyslider roof unhinges off track and leaks terribly. Almost blew off on highway while driving 65 mph. Cannot be put back on track
Jeep sky slider full open roof cannot close.the vehicle was stationary.this is an electric roof with no option to manually close.
My 2011jeep liberty sport on 06-27-21, was sitting in a super market parking lot while shopping. I returned from shopping and noticed my- rear back door glass was completely blown out, exploded. Was it a break-in situation ? or what caused this ? i called the police to make a report. The policeman said to contact insur. For replacement of blown out glass, and he filed his report. It is unknown my me,or policeman why this occurred. It, most definitely a safety issue on 2011 jeep liberty sport model
Currently my 2011 jeep liberty (jet) is blowing cold air from the vents on the driver side.blowing warm air through the vents on the passenger side.no heat at all coming out on the floor no matter what dial i turn it to, no heat while the car in sitting or in motion.this began a few years ago and it's gotten worst.i live in michigan and it's about to get cold.
The contact owns a 2011 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal would become stuck and unresponsive, causing the vehicle to accelerate independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least five times where they replaced the throttle body sensor but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for further repairs. A claim was also filed with the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 4,622.updated 11/14/11 the consumer stated when the failure occurred, the engine would surge to 2600 rpm's and continue until the vehicle was shut off. The accelerator pedal was inoperable. The consumer had to slam on the brakes and put the gear in neutral. Updated 11/18/11the consumer stated the vehicle would not accelerate over 40 mph, as the accelerator pedal was completely unresponsive. On a separate occasion, while stopped at a red light, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward through the red light into the intersection. The consumer stopped the vehicle from going any further by slamming on the brakes and throwing the transmission into neutral. The throttle position sensor was replaced, as well as the main computer. However, the consumer continued to experience problems. Updated 12/28/11
Sudden unintended acceleration, seatbelts failed on second impact, airbag deployed after my head broke wind shield.car accelerated in another moving vehicle and accelerated faster into a concrete wall.all on closed circuit video i am left with a traumatic brain injury, disabled

Vehicle continues to accelerate when brakes are applied. When approaching an intersection on suburban street with stopped vehicles, brakes were applied, the carcontinued to accelerate causing a crash. Only by changing gear to park, did acceleration stop.
The heater core on the liberty became partially blocked.the heater core is not serpentine in design.instead, it has a series of pipes that connect the tanks on both ends.the problem is that the bottom of the heater core plugs up.water can still pass through the upper pipes, however.so the top half of the heater core gets hot and the bottom half does not.the hazard here is that the way the heater core is positioned in the air box, the air that blows over the top half goes to the passenger side.so the air that goes to the driver side of the car is the air that blew over the cold, bottom half of the heater core.this is dangerous because the driver side of the windshield can't be defogged/defrosted and if you are driving along and a snow event starts, you can quickly lose visibility.this has been an ongoing problem, and i've been able to get a little bit of heat back by doing a standard coolant flush.i've had to flush it twice a year every year, however, since right about the time the warranty expired. According to the owners manual, it shouldn't need flushed anywhere near this often.and the coolant is usually pretty rusty when i flush it.a quick scan of the internet tells me that i'm not the only person having this heater core plug problem and after talking to my local jeep dealership i've discovered this problem is fairly common.

Left front wheel detached from drive mechanics.looks like ball joint failure, either upper or lower.earlier liberty models have had the same/similar issues.at 70mph, this could cause a fatal accident.
My son was driving my jeep liberty and lost control of the jeep because the front right axle broke and caused him to run into a wall. He has a leg & back injury due to this accident. We have only had the car for 7 months when this happened.
