Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while turning on the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the vehicles instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis, where it was diagnosed that the drivers side air bag failed and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Head on accident, left side of both vehicles.vehicle 1 was totaled - no airbag deployment.

Out of the blue while driving the airbag light illuminated - i took it in to have it reset - it worked for a bit then came back on: the mechanic advices that the sensor likely went bad and needs to be replaced.

Air bag cover is very sticky and feels like it stays this way no matter how much i wipe it down.

Jeep libertyair bag recall. My air bag alert in dash on my 2009 jeep liberty came on yesterday. I learned there is a jeep air bag recall and need information on where to take it to get it repaired before i have a crash is it deploys.

The airbag warning light and audible alertare on continuously when the vehicle is running and in motion.when the vehicle was taken to a repair shop, a scan of the system was performed and the indication is that the airbag spring and airbag have malfunctioned.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact stated the side air bags deployed inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 78,863.

Variable times, variable speeds, when occupant in front passenger seat, the air-bag warning light on the dash illuminates.cause unknown.implications unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. After getting the vehicle serviced, the contact noticed that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The mechanic stated that the driver side air bag was failing. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 125,000.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty.while attempting to accelerate, the contact noticed that both the driver and passenger side curtain air bags deployed without warning. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the drive shaft had fractured.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that water had gotten into the heat shield which caused it to fracture and affected the air bags.the manufacturer advised him to speak with the dealer to resolve the matter but offered no additional assistance.no repairs were performed.the current and failure mileages were approximately 50,000.

The actuator in my heating system went out, and needed to be replaced, at only 52,000 miles.

My driver side rear light stopped working, the light above my license plate only works intermittently, and my rear windshield wiper also malfunctions - it either wont turn off once it's turned on, or it wont work at all.

On friday, 07.07.2017, as i was driving into a turn lane from the hwy, i had slowed way down for traffic then picked up speed slightly, not even 10 mph, to follow cars in the turn lane when the accelerator became sluggish and the jeep came to a stop. As i pressed the accelerator again there was a very loud pop from under the hood. Everything quit, the engine, the electric, the starter would not turn over when i tried to start it again or the emergency flashers. Just before this happened the engine light and, what i found out later, the electronic throttle control light came on. I was confused at what just happened.thinking what i saw next was steam coming from under the jeep was steam i popped the hood to go look.there was traffic all around on the hwy. Once i opened the hood i found the engine compartment was on fire, back against the firewall between the engine and the steering column, behind the battery. The fire got bigger once the hood was open, it spread very fast.people in other cars were yelling and a guy stopped to help me and told me to get away from the jeep because it was gas that was burning.the fire dept was called yet by the time they got there the whole front end of the jeep was destroyed.

The slider roof which worked great in the fall of 2013 would not work. No noise, no movement, nothing. Like it was not getting power. Took it to my mechanic and he said all the motors were working when he jumped them so he thought it was a computer problem. Jeep wanted $1800 to fix the problem. Seems like thousands of people have the same problem. Why has a recall not been forced to address this issue?

I have had my jeep since it was new. In the beginning my radio would cut off or lock up and i had it tested and nothing was found. Then my espoff, 4wd, service, 4 wd low light would come on and go off. I took it in and was not charged because noting showed up. But the mechanic said he had heard of others had the same complaint.then while i was driving at night at approximately 65 mph i started to roll my window up and the lift gate light came on and all the lights inside the vehicle came on and i could not adjust or turn them off. This has happened now 3 times and it is a definite safety concern when all the lights and a vehicle comes on while driving at night.

While stationary sunroof leaks water causing roof damage and appears by rust from the outside due to water settling. Leaking sunroof also damaged motor of driver side window.

I am writing to let you know that i have done extensive research after the electrical system in 2009 jeep liberty began to give me problems. The problems are as follows: brake lights going out multiple times in a 1-2 year period, the radio and heat cutting off and restarting on their own multiple times in a short 30 minute drive, while the heat and radio are cut out the wipers and turn signals do not work which is a bit troublesome living in new england with the rain and snow since i cannot rely upon my car to work properly or safely. Jeep claims that they do not know what is wrong with my car but a second opinion with another mechanic told me that this is a commonly known problem with jeep and that this should be a recall because the vehicles are not safe. I have found numerous people online at complaints.com or edmunds.com who are saying the same things that i am saying so it is definitely not a one time thing with just my car. I just wanted to alert you to the situation because people driving in cars with faulty electric systems because the parent company doesn't want to replace the issue is putting the general public at risk given the number of jeeps currently on the road. I personally feel unsafe in this car and jeep will not do anything to assist in that matter like put me in a newer car for the same payment per month or fix the electrical system at their expense instead of mine as i have already spent well over $1000 in a month and have been without my car for a least 2 weeks time.

*safety* my wife was driving our 2009 jeep liberty when it completely shut down. The steering wheel locked, no brakes, and no power. She was making a left hand turn with traffic coming on her right. Wife and 6 year old son were in the jeep. She felt like her life was threatened! come to find out chrysler has a well known tipm issue. The jeep only has 63,000 miles on the odometer.

My key on my my 2002 jeep liberty will no longer turn the ignition.

Variable times, variable speeds, when occupant in front passenger seat, the air-bag warning light on the dash illuminates.cause unknown.implications unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. While the vehicle was parked, the contact pressed the unlock button on the remote to unlock the vehicle and the engine started. The contact unlocked the vehicle and shut it off. The contact checked the remote for an auto start function; however, there was none. The vehicle was not diagnosed and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.

The sky skyder wouldn't open anymore.i can't afford to fix it and jeep did not care to help.there are thousands of complaints and i do not know why it is not in recall!

I bought my jeep brand new in april of 2009. When it was just a few months old, i started experiencing a phantom 'ding' that would normally be associated with low fuel, check engine, etc. But when the ding would sound, no warning lights would appear. Tried to have dealer find problem, they couldn't replicate since it was so random, so it never got fixed. Around april of this year (2013) the ding still continues to drive me nuts, and now my 'espoff,' '4wd,' 'service 4wd,' and '4low' lights come on and off at random;sometimes every ten seconds while i'm driving. Also, my radio/nav screen system will randomly turn itself off and restart. Took it to the dealer, they said they have gotten this same complaint from a lot of other people, but there is no recall issued. I was told the problem with the stereo alone is a $1,200 fix and that i'm better off going to a car audio dealer and getting something custom done. I can't believe there isn't a recall for this, it is very distracting to have all these lights coming on and off while driving, not to mention unnerving. Also, my lift gate window has always leaked around the seal, even after the dealer replaced it. They said they tested it under high pressure wash and it didn't leak, then a few days later it rained and there was water all over the inside of my lift gate.

Failure of 2009 (drivers side) rear brake light with only 17,000 miles. Have noted a number of same make and model car with same drivers side brake light out. Took it to dealer but due to cost, replaced blub myself. Was told by dealer it could also be an over load on the electrical circut causing premature failure of blub on just that one side. First new car in over 40 years i have had under two years with 17000 miles have just the one side brake light go out. Fearful of a bigger problem and possible collision from other cars if they fail to see my brake light.

Car would not start, dealer says it's a defective tipm.

Car would not start. Called aaa who made several attempts to start car but all failed. Tow driver said he thought key was problem since all electrical was fine. Said he had approx six incidents in recent months with jeep/chrysler and all were due to key failure. I was towed from jfk airport to jeep dealer in wantagh. It was determined key **deprogrammed** and so failed. I asked if there was any indication this failure was going to happen and they said no. They replaced one key under warranty and charged me 206.00 for second key. I wrote to jeep/chrysler for reimbursement and was denied. A failure like this could cause serious issues .

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. While driving at 50 mph, the sky slider roof failed to automatically close. The contact had to manually close the slider. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic, but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.

The jeep liberty had an option called the sky-slider roof. I have seen many, many problems with the roof and i am positive that chrysler corporation is well aware of the defect with this sky-slider roof that malfunctions, locks and will not work. Our roof was stuck closed and taken to a jeep dealership for repair. They had to break a part to check what needed repair. It turns out that our extended warranty expired at 75,000 miles, but due to the weather, this roof cannot be opened, according to the owners manual unless the temperature is below 40 degrees f. With that, we could not get the jeep in to be looked at until april, thus the vehicle at time of inspection of the roof was at 75,249 miles, over the warranty. They could not repair at this time and now i had to tape the roof closed so it does not open while driving or leak if raining. From research on the sky-slider roof problems on the internet, i have found that i am not the only, but one of hundreds if not thousads that have this problem that chrysler would not give any monitary assistance in the repair that will cost approximately $3,000 to repair. Please assist in having chrysler corporation recall or refund all owners of this sky-slider roof who have had the repairs completed.

I have had light sensors on my dash, electronic stability, slippery road. Service 4wd, and misfire #2 cylinder, and service abs. I took it in for diagnostics they say the head gasket is blown, or it has a cracked head allowing antifreeze in the #2 cylinder.the lights come on a couple at a time, when driving, and then go ff either when i turn the car off, or a day or two later.

Car turns off without warning while in motion. No check engine light to show a problem... Car has turned off on highway and while making turns. Have to place vehicle in park and start car again to work. Lights and radio all stay on.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty.the contact stated that while coming to a stop, smoke and flames emitted from the engine. The vehicle was destroyed. The fire department extinguished the fire. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

Engine suddenly started running extremely rough, and making loud noises. Immediately pulled over and turned engine off. Waited a few minutes and attempted to restart engine, but again it made loud noise and wouldn't turn over. Had it towed to our mechanic. He told us rocker arm jammed, lifter and camshaft toasted, and head blew, and more than one cylinder is involved. He also told us this is the third liberty engine he's had to replace for customers in the past few years - and that's in a community of less than 250,000 people.when i googled the issue i found many liberty engine failures reported on several blogs - edmunds, cartalk, allpar, topix, ask, etc., but not on the nhtsa site. Don't know why people don't lodge complaints here first! regardless, we're now looking at ~$4000 repair/replacement on a well-maintained vehicle with less than 55k miles on it. We went to our local jeep dealer, who told us the jeep lifetime power train warranty doesn't cover the damage as we're the second owner. This is ridiculous. There is obviously a design flaw in the 3.7l engines that causes them to blow, and chrysler/jeep must be aware of it, and should replace the failed engines. If the engine had blown at freeway speeds it could have easily caused a dangerous safety issue resulting in a crash. Nhtsa needs to investigate these engine failures!

While driving 55 mph down a busy road, my liberty's engine shut down without warning.no warning lights lit up on the dash, oil was full, and it was running great just before the failure. Upon inspection at a chrysler dealer it was determined that the #5 valve failed causing the engine to seize immediately.cost to replace the engine was $6971.00. Chrysler nor mopar will admit that there is a problem with these engines, yet there was nothing i could have done to prevent the engine from seizing at 81,152 miles. Luckily i was able to get it off the road and stopped before i was hit by another vehicle.liberty was 1, 152 miles over the power train warranty.

I have judt brought my jeep in may it is oct and i am having transmission problems. Please can you assist if this is a recall

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact stated the vehicle would stall sporadically when driving 20 mph and above or while the vehicle was at a complete stop. The contact also stated that the engine would intermittently exhibit an abnormal increase in rpms when driving approximately 40 mph with the illumination of the check engine warning light.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. Various repairs, including a transmission replacement and fuel pump replacement, were performed on the vehicle but the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 6,220 and the current mileage was 29,319.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact was driving 25 mph when the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle successfully restarted after the failure. The failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer on two separate occasions. The dealer stated that the power train control module and engine coils needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 26,123 and the current mileage was 26,150. Updated 03/09/12*lj

Failure of 2009 (drivers side) rear brake light with only 17,000 miles. Have noted a number of same make and model car with same drivers side brake light out. Both left and right front turn signal/marker/parking lamp assembly/modules have suddenly and for no apparent reason are leaking and hold water/condensation. Therefore, resulting in reduce lighting, dim, or non-functional front turn signals. And the resultingexposure to water, and possible corrosionof electrical wiring, contacts, and lamps. Which, may indeed result in a system electrical short or perhaps possible electrical fire. A new 2009 jeep, that hasnever been off-road nor in any kind of standing or deep water, with only 26+ k milesshould not have a dual failure of the same component at exactlyat the same time.thank you.

In 2009 i purchased a jeep liberty (2009), for the past several months my car was making a strange noise. I've had a diagnostic test done on my vehicle (came back fine), oil changes, engine flushed, filers, transmission checked, all fluids the hole nine yards. Still i could here this noise.in january of 2013, we've had to replace ball bearings, the sun roof jammed,i put in my back tail lights3times keep blowing out, the door locks started to jam.on march 5, 2013, . I was driving on the freeway and the engine light came on, the car jerked as i continued, then it slowed down and this load noise started coming from under the hood of my truck. I got over into the far right lane and told my wife that the car started to go slow by it self. As i came into a parking lot and wanted to park my truck it jerk again, as i began to park my reverse went out, so i had to park in such away that i did not have to use my reverse to get out of a parking spot. I was taking my wife to a job interview with the secretary of states office ( what are the odds that happening to someone). My wife went to interview we took the service drive and some back streets to get to our home. I got up the next day to take it to the shop and the hold transmission had gone out and all the fluids were in our driveway. I don't have 100,000 miles on the truck nor is this truck five or ten years old. Why are all these things happening , this truck just turn4yrs old? we brought this truck 03/03/2009.someone please tell me how your transmission just die and we've never had an accident, just the usual maintenance on the truck. The dealership said i did not purchase the powertrain warranty (100,000ml/10yrs.)to repair, will cost me$5,000.00 to get a new transmission . My job put us on 30hrs a week.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Gas tank will not shut off when fill point is reached. Took it to dealer, was told "warped tank" costs $1015.00 for replacement ! obviously i am not the only owner with this problem. Dealer said part would be backordered because none were available & i should keep checking recalls because there must be a problem if no parts. This is my third jeep. Might be my last.

Each and every time i fill up my jeep when the gasoline automatic pump dispenser shuts off i get splashed with gas and it goes all over me and my vehicle. This is a safety problem that jeep should fix. There are safety bulletins out on this problem on several models of jeeps.

Gas spills out of the tank opening when refuling, after the pump auto shut-off has turned off.

Fuel pump broke and needed to be replaced, at only 44,000 miles.

Fuel overflow after pump shuts off. Problem occurs regardless of fill speed, and regardless of whether pump stops automatically or manually. Significant overflow dripping from vehicle, puddling on ground, and splashing on person pumping fuel.

Environmental & safety issue.fuel spits back during fill.tsb issued (14-003-13) and warranty bulletin (d-003-13).chrysler refused to cover repair expense due to mileage @ 95,000 (chrysler case [xxx].ground is saturated in gas every time i fill the tank and all over me.do we have to wait for a gas station explosion before this is a recall?why hasn't nhtsa gone after this environmental and safety issue?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. While the contact was adding fuel to the vehicle, the fuel tank overflowed without being filled entirely. The dealer (sam leman dodge, chrysler, jeep, ram, 1801 w pioneer pkwy, peoria, il 61615) observed that the fuel spewed out while filling the tank and diagnosed that the fuel tank assembly be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified and stated that they could not assist since there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 171,556.

Fuel spills out of the filler neck when filling the tank. Filler neck is loose and wobbly several tsb's outline this issue but according to fca customer care, my car is not included in any recalls based on the vin. Rollover valve inside fuel tank is most likely stuck and could cause fuel spillage, death and destruction if the vehicle is involved in a rollover accident.

I insert the pump nozzle and set the auto shut off. When the pump clicks off, gas bubbles over and flows out no matter if the pump handle is locked or i'm manually pumping, at multiple gas stations i have experienced overflow. It runs down the side of the car and all over the ground. It has happened numerous times.it seems dangerous, because this could be a fire hazard, and is an environmental hazard . I try to pump as slow as possible when i know it is near full, but still get gas coming out every time that i let it go until the pump stops. This is obviously a problem that the manufacturer should be fixing.

Each and every time i fill up my jeep when the gasoline automatic pump dispenser shuts off i get splashed with gas and it goes all over me and my vehiicle.i called local jeep dealer and they want to put new gas tank in at my expense!!!

When filling up pumps kicks off gas comes back out the filler tub.

I've noticed that my vehicle was having an issuing accelerating lately.i went for my routine oil change and was told the fuel pump needs to be replace and it would be the reason for the issue with accelerating.the mechanic stated that it is really common with the jeeps and unfortunately the part is not expensive but the labor is because they need to remove the engine to replace it.if it is as common as a problem as the mechanic states, why is there no recall?i see there is a recall on jeep liberties for a similar issue for 2002-2007.could there still possibly be this issue in the 2009 models as well?

For the last 2 times when i feel up my jeep the gas will spill back out all over me and the jeep.chrysler says i need a new gas tank but it was never wrecked or any other damage.i have seen on the internet other people is having this problem but they want me to pay for a new gas tank.is there any recall on this jeep.

Fuel inlet check valve in gas tank fails, resulting in fill flow back out of the tank when filling vehicle with gasoline. There is no indication when this valve fails except when filling the vehicle, gas comes shooting out, pouring all over the vehicle and the ground. This causes a risk for fire and is an environmental hazard. Unsuspecting consumers may be covered in gasoline if they are standing next to the vehicle at the time of failure.

When i am filling my gas tank i engage the automatic shutoff on the fuel pump nozzle but the gas continues to flow and spills out. The gas comes out and splashes on the outside of my vehicle. It also runs down the side of my jeep and onto the ground. This has been occurring a lot more frequently lately. I have to stop the pump, check the gas level by turning the ignition partially on to see the gas gauge. If i don't do that procedure i will have gas on me, my car and the ground. When the shutoff does not stop there is a very strong gas smell inside my vehicle that i feel is very unsafe. This occurs at different brand gas stations.

Gas always back flows out the gas tank to matter how strong filling?gas runs down the fender and into the fender walls and stinks for days

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact was refueling the vehicle when fuel spewed from the filler neck. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 42000.

I'm having the same problem as most of everyone else when filling up with gas. It's happened a few times, i thought that it was the pump or gas station, but now realized it is the car. It happened today which was the worst incident yet, gasoline spilling all over the car, causing me to check online if this was normal. We also have a 2008 and received a notice to go to dealership for repair, but what about my 2009???

When filling gas tank fuel spits back out of tank all over body and me if not standing away from nozzle. This just started happening just as jeep warranty ran out. Dealer will not fix problem unless i spend $700 for new tank. I feel this a safety problem that jeep should fix this problem at no charge. I understand there are safety bulletins out on this problem on several models of jeeps.

2009 jeep liberty had liftgate switch replaced 3 times this has happened to other people yet no recall or fixing problem another way 3 latch switches corroded.

In june 2011, the rear lift gate would not unlock on my 09 jeep liberty sport. The dealership replaced the rear lift gate latch as well as both ignition keys under warranty. Thought the problem was resolved but in february 2013, 1 1/2 years later had the same failure with the rear lift gate not unlocking on the same vehicle. The dealership again replaced the previously installed rear lift gate latch as well as the rear glass window weather stripping due to the fact that the weather stripping joint had signs of rust stains (premature failure). The fix to prevent water leaking through the upper glass window latch pocket to the rear lift gate latch, which had shorted out again was to offset the weather stripping joint 6" vertically away from the upper glass window latch pocket so that any water could not enter the inner rear lift gate. The non-warranty repair for this problem is approximately $400.00. Routine maintenance inspection for any weather stripping is not in your vehicle operation and maintenance manual but i would highly recommend that you periodically check all doors and lift gates seals and weather stripping for signs of wear or premature failures or you will be replacing internal components due to water damage.

When driving mycar started leaning to the left driver's side. I haven't hit anything or been in a car accident. Anytime i am at a 25+ speed it is more noticeable, and very much so on the highway. Nothing else seems wrong with the car but i'm afraid this may do other damage to the car. As i have been researching for recalls there seem to be others with a similar problem as this.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking water from the interior driver side floor board. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

As we were driving our car on the interstate, we noticed that the closed sliding roof was buckling on both the driver side and passenger side (right above the headrests) and we could hear this whistling sound and feel air coming from the raised junction. We subsequently called the dealership from which we had purchased the new vehicle, brunswick auto, and inquired about any recalls on the sliding roof.we were told that there had been no recalls.we later had the roof examined and was told that no problems were found.we continued to notice the same issues.in december 2012, prior to our original warranty expiring (we did purchase an extended warranty at the time of vehicle purchase), we took the car to adventure jeep of willoughby, oh to have the roof re-examined.we were told that the sliding roof was misaligned and the problem had been corrected.upon driving home, we noticed the problem had not been corrected and remained the same.we have ten month old twins and are traveling frequently to visit family. We are concerned now that the sliding roof may fly off completely when we are on the interstate.we have had this issue looked at twice by "professionals".any assistance and advocacy is appreciated.

The body has a noticeable lean to the driver side. The driver side is one inch lower than the passenger side. I had new shocks and struts installed thinking that this would bring the body back to a level position. I also removed all extra gear from the vehicle to eliminate the possibility of extra weight, but the vehicle still has the same amount of lean to the driver side. The measurements are taken on level ground. The measurements are taken from the ground to the wheel well lip through the center line of the wheel. The driver side, front and rear is one inch lower than the passenger side front and rear.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. While parked the contact depressed the switch that controlled the sky slider roof and noticed that the roof would not close properly. The sky slider panoramic roof has some broken internal parts and won't fully close causing leaking water and loud wind noise.roanoke jeep dealer says they can't get replacement parts and there is no way to fix.i have visited 4 other shops and the only solution offered is to remove the panoramic roof and replace with full metal roof with a cost of $5000. I can't believe there are no replacement parts for a 10 year old vehicle and i'm stuck with a vehicle that is going to leak every time it rains.

The sky roof has broken a 2nd time, at least since i have owned it. I just had it replaced 2yrs and 5 months ago. Jeep stopped making the roof frame and the dealer was unable to locate it. There are no after market parts available.jeep refuses to help in any way, and i'm still paying for a car that i cannot drive because it cannot e repaired. Yes, i was sitting still. It has to be in park in order to retract or close.there are thousands of complaintsabout this particular roof frame. It broke in the exact same spot that it broke in 29 months ago. The warranty on it was only for 2 years. What am i supposed to do? help please

I attempted to open the skyslider roof and nothing happened. I attempted it a few times, then stopped for fear of not being able to close it if it did actually open. I started researching this issue online and i have found that chrysler is well aware of the defect with every model of jeep that has the skyslider option. Not only do they not stand behind their defect and issue recalls for their customers, but they charge thousands to fix a potential safety issue. I bought an extended warranty and need to pay for a diagnostic just to be told it won't be covered. Scam. I'm none too pleased. A class action lawsuit needs to happen.

2009 jeep liberty with the "skyslider" roof (retractable).while increasing vehicle speed on a highway road, one of the four (4) arms that secures the roof to the top of the car, sheered.the incident causes the roof to collapse.fearing for the safety of other drivers nearby, i slowed my vehicle to 60 mph.when it was safe for me to do so, i pulled over to inspect the vehicle.upon inspecting the roof, i concluded that the breakage was linked to an arm/lever, whose composition is mainly casted aluminum.the vehicle was eventually taken to a repair shop.while at the repair shop, i was informed that the several other people had experienced the same thing with the skyslider roof and they were surprised to see that chrysler has yet to issue a safety recall for these particular models.the repair for this roof will cost greater than $2,500.

I was traveling on the highway to work (i'm in the military) and driving about 65 when the sky slider popped up and flew back.i swerved because it scared me, i pulled off the highway as fast as i could, scared the car behind me.i took it to the dealership where they told me that they could fix it but it would cost 4400.i called my insurance company to file a claim and the adjuster denied it because he stated that is a manufactures defect and they don't cover that. This vehicle should be a recall, this could have ended worse if traveling on the highway when this happened.in order for me to get it to the dealer for them to look at it i had to tape it down (due to weather) and i had to use tow straps to keep the sky liner from popping up while driving.this really makes me mad, i used my deployment money to buy this vehicle and i feel like i wasted all my hard earned money for this piece of junk.i will never buy a jeep product in my life again, matter of fact i have turned to social media to worn everyone about this.

Skyslider flew back while driving on the freeway, almost caused an accident. Dealership said it would cost 4,000$ to fix, but they can't fix it regardless. I bought this jeep brand new for 35,000$ 40,000$ after interest. Ill never in my life buy a jeep again the hassle this has put me through. Especially the danger its caused. Almost killing my children & me.

Lift gate hydraulics rusting.

In 2009 i purchased a jeep liberty (2009), for the past several months my car was making a strange noise. The passenger side rumbles when in motion feels like your driving on a flat tire - but the tires are fine. This cause me to slow down 10 of speed before stopping or the car wombles more.

Flat tire on highway was caused by valve stem corrosion at 28,000 miles.

While driving on i-696 in michigan at 70 mph with my wife and another person, suddenly my car started to wobble as if i had a flat tire. I slowed down the vehicle and exited the highway at the first off-ramp. I was puzzled because the tires were purchased only a year ago. Pulled into a gas station and discovered that my rear passenger tire was flat and that the air valve was missing. This was memorial day weekend. Aaa roadside service changed the tire. The day after memorial day i took the jeep into the tire repair store. I needed a new tire and a new air sensor valve stem for the wheel. Upon inspection by the store, it was discovered that the other 3 valve stems were cracked and needed replacing also. These air sensor valve stems are part of the jeep wheel and in my opinion are defective. They should be good for more than 5 years. I should, at the very least, be reimbursed the money that i had to spend to make my jeep safe and drivable again, including the new tire.

Went i bought my jeep 5 months ago i was told new tires were put on my car, however my low tire light keeps going on....i checked over and over the pressure in tires was all good, even had garage check them they found nothing. So when i took the jeep back to the dealer they took me there was a small leak in the one tire, that the tire pressure censor was bad in all the jeep liberty's they fixed the problem in the next model but didn't recall this one. They want me to pay $80.00 per tire to fix the problem. I can't afford this and i also don't think i should have to pay for it the manufacture or the dealership should pay, but they said they will not. 80 x's 4 = $320.00. For most people to just come up with that is impossible. And in this case not right.

I've had 2 valve stems crack. I drive only on the highway with this vehicle. I do not know what causes this.

Approximately june 30, 2013, i was driving on an interstate at 65 mph when the low tire pressure light came on. I managed to cross 2 lanes and get to the side of the road to discover my front driver's side tire was flat. The cause of the flat was a broken valve stem. These are the aluminum valve stems used in the tire pressure monitoring system. I had it replaced. On november 22, 2013, only 5 months later, while traveling at a high rate of speed again, 65 mph, another of the aluminum valve stems broke. I did keep some of the pieces that i found. Unfortunately i had to travel approximately 1 mile on the tire that quickly went flat. There are only 52,000 miles on the vehicle. These are the original valve stems that came on the vehicle.

Stem valves are defective.the sky slider stopped working.i contacted chrysler and they did not want to help. If you search or the reviews everyone has the same issues. Therefore, they should take responsibility for their defective mechanisms or the law should get involved and make them fix these issues.

I purchased a new jeep liberty 2009 in jun of 2010 in january of 2011 while attempting to put air in the rear tire the tpms valve stem exploded and shot across the garage. In september of 2011 the tpms valve stem disintegrated while the car was parked in the garage and shot the parts across the garage both of these where replaced by chrysler under warranty. On may 21st 2012 while travelling on the highway at 65 the tpms valve on the rear tire disintegrated and caused immediate loss of air from the rear tire, causing the vehicle to become unstable, i was able to control it and drive the vehicle to the side of the road. On inspection the valve was completely gone. This valve is being replaced by chrysler but now as the vehicle is outside of warranty i have to foot the bill. I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles over the last 23 years and have never had any issues with tire valve stems to have 3 such major failures over 2 years and the last one on the highway which could have led to a serious accident. It appears that there is a design flaw with the tpms valves being used by chrysler on this age of vehicle and from what i have seen on car forums this seems to be the case for many chrysler group vehicle owners with tpms systems.

Sky view roof failures and opened about a foot on its own when driving ona back road about 35 miles per hour.then got stuck. Just bought it 9 months ago and there's nothing protecting consumers from a safety and money trap like this.

Problems with the tipm. First to go was the door locking system, it will not lock automatically. Next, the ac/dc current outlet is no longer operational. Now, the washer fluid will not operate, and yes, its full.concern over what's next to go.research shows issues with chrysler's tipm system is multiple vehicles, some recalls, though not mine, some lawsuits.

The sunroof is the whole roof. Vehicles were originally equipped with defective leaking sunroofs that chrysler knew were defective. No recall has been issued. Chrysler has a lawsuit filed for this issue.i would likethis issue to be fixed by chrysler and my inside roof replaced from water spots from the leaking as well as the motor that works the sunroof.owners of these vehicles should not be penalized and have to pay to repair and replace when chrysler knows this is a big issue with this vehicle. I purchased this used vehicle, unaware of this issue and i am now stuck with it and having to pay for a loan on it. It was not disclosed from he dealership i purchased it from.please someone help.

The roof and coolant reservoir are leaking.on july 30, 2015, i brought my 2009 jeep liberty to phillips chrysler jeep dodge for repairs. Per test results, the sun roof drains were clogged; however, no leaks were detected in the coolant reservoir.i am continuously filling the reservoir with coolant which continues to leak from under the vehicle and possible on the driver's side floor.the roof continues to leak, but the leak is now in the hatch area.also, the locks on the driver side door will sometimes not unlock when i used the handle. I have an appointment scheduled at phillips on august 26, 2015.

While driving through a grocery store parking lot, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 4000rpm. Thankfully, due to quick thinking, i got on the brakes, put the car in neutral and turned the ignition off. Something is seriously wrong. Thank god i didn't mow down the 4 people walking in front of me. A quick search of the internet reveals this to be a common problem with jeeps. How in the world has this issue not been a recall??!!

I own a 2009jeep liberty with 2000 miles on it.twice it has suddenly accelerated on it's own when i was starting from a stopped position to pull into a parking space.the first time i was able to stop it using thebrakes before it jumped over the curb.the second time it happened so fast i couldn't stop it in time and it hit a large concrete column in front of the parking space.the car suffered quite a lot of body damage and will be in a body shop for 3 or more weeks.i suffered several skin wounds on my hand and arm and a sprained thumb.after talking with several mechanic friends, here is what i think might have happened.in both cases i was making an extreme left turn into a right-slanted parking space from a two-lane aisle. In both cases i had just crossed over a safety bump and stopped to let oncoming traffic go by before i turned.in both cases, it was hot and my air conditioner was turned to high.the combination of the load of the air and the power steering could have been enough to show up a defect in the electronic control throttle sensor software and cause the sudden acceleration.this is the only explanation that i have been able to find.i'm sure it was not driver error.i have driven jeeps for many years and never have had an accident in all my years of driving.i would appreciate your analysis of this problem before it results in more serious accidents forjeep liberty owners. Thank you

Rear window hinge has corroded out and no longer holding window.window only held on by remaining hinge and latch.dealer/chrysler will not cover repair or do recall even though this is a common problem.see http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f292/help-back-glass-lift-gate-1460124/if window falls out during travel on highway, could cause significant accident.

The defroster on these models are centered on the dashboard and do not extend far enough to the left and right to prevent icing of the windshield and wipers, which causes visibility issues. It has been an issue since new, and the dealer says it is a characteristic of the vehicle. Some type of adapter to direct more of the defrost to the edges of the windshield would be helpful.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. When the contact opened the sky slider, it made an abnormal noise. The contact was unable to close the sky slider. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,195.

I've had 2 valve stems crack. I drive only on the highway with this vehicle. I do not know what causes this.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep liberty. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the tire pressure warning light illuminated as the contact lost control of the vehicle. The contact regained control and moved the vehicle off the roadway where he noticed that the front driver's side tire had failed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection and they stated that the valve stem was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Customer was driving down the highway when the cable that holds the spare tire snapped and caused the spare tire to fly down the highway, endangering the lives of other drivers.

Flat tire on highway was caused by valve stem corrosion at 28,000 miles.

Stem valves are defective.the sky slider stopped working.i contacted chrysler and they did not want to help. If you search or the reviews everyone has the same issues. Therefore, they should take responsibility for their defective mechanisms or the law should get involved and make them fix these issues.
