I have a 2006 jeep laredo 3.6l with 54,000 miles on it. Since may of 2012 it has been nothing but a huge problem. I have contacted jeep customer care and had a casenumber with them to get the issues resolved, needless to say they fixed half of the issues and then closed the case when the dealership that was working on it was unable to diagnose the other issues. The jeep will lunge, jerk, and get stuck in 2nd gear at 1.5rphs until you press the gas really hard and it slips gears. For the past 4 months on and off the jeep has been having electrical problems for example today while leaving work i was going around 30 mph and turned my heat on then all the lights on the dashboard came on (check engine, oil,) all those my gas gage went from full to empty my headlights went off and i lost power steering and abs brakes. Never the less it was dark outside so im a sitting duck to other cars who can not see me. Then about 10 seconds later the jeep is back to normal and is running fine. It has even done this when i just honk my horn or turn on my radio. I have contacted jeep many of times regarding this issue and their response is we don't know what it is! so they want me to pay up to 1,000.00 in diagnostic costs (dealership said) because they are going to have to search everything on the jeep to see what the problem is because it could be anything. And jeeps response was they are not saying that they will cover it or not. I have a extended warranty on the jeep that i bought that is good for another 50,000 miles. These issues should be required to be fixed and paid for by jeep because it is a huge safety problem. What happens if this issues happens again with my small child in the car at night and i get hit by another car because they can not see me? will jeep pay then?

Similar to recent gm problem, when driving, my knee touches the ignition switch, which then shuts down the engine.this has happened on multiple occasions and i have been able to safely steer the car to the roadside.i am concerned that, if this happens when my wife is driving, she would not have the strength to safely control the car.

I was driving home at dark with my family in this vehicle when the headlights went completely out and everything in the dash went out. This jeep was recalled last year 2014 for the ignition switch and has to this date not been fixed, i would like to know what are the plans for repairing this situation, the headlights now will flicker on and off there is no specific time or date when it decides to do this.i would appreciate a response to this situation since this is the vehicle that i have to drive to work and to transport my daughter to school.
Complaint for another jeep owner when driving my 2006 jeep grand cherokee laredo the lights around the pnd21 will circle all of the gears and either go into neutral or 1st gear on its own while you are driving it, it happens at least 2-3 times a week. It is very dangerous when you are driving down the road - have taken to dealer said it needs electronic shift module at a cost of $750. Called customer service jeep they said they couldn't help with the cost of repair. I have looked into this problem and it seems that there a lot of these same 2006 jeeps with the same problem. They said my jeep has to many miles 85,000 - but it seems like it happens to call jeeps no mater what the mileage - i think this is a defective part and they should make it right - now matter how many miles. This is a very dangerous problem.
Traveling on freeway, suddenly car lost complete power - felt like it just went into neutral.all dashboard lights went out as if ignition was turned off.heavy traffic and almost culminated in a serious accident.was able to gradually get to shoulder and slow down and finally stop with great effort.approx 5 minutes later, able to restart car and continue without incident.

I stepped on the brake and put the car into reverse.i backed out of a parking space at a taco bell.i did not have my foot on the accelerator.the interlock required my foot to be on the brake.i move the vehicle with only the power supplied with the vehicle at idle (500 rpm).i brought my vehicle to a complete stop with increased brake pressure.i looked to the right where i intended to exit the parking lot.i moved the shift lever to drive.the car unexpectedly accelerated across the parking lot.i still had my foot on the brake.the car violently jumped from a standing start to an extimated15 mph, smashing into the back of another parked car, driving the front of that car over a curb, into a brick entry pillar.i applied maximum braking pressure after my car had moved about 10-15 feet or about halfway across the parking lot.the acceleration was so rapid there was insufficient time to react and stop in such a short distance.i am not senile.i am a skilled driver who has never had a reportable accident in 40 years of driving.i am a safe driver who has not had a traffic ticket in an estimated 38 years.i have taught driver's education.i am very knowledgable with the safe operation of this vehicle after having owned an earlier model.this was not an accident.it was a complete vehicle failure.my car has both the brake interlock and the wider seperation between the brake and accelerator petals ... Previous chrysler/jeep fixes.i suspect this problem might be electrical.the battery had failed and had been replaced only minutes earlier.my foot never touched the accelerator, it remained on the brake throughout this entire incident.i am aware of both complaints of driver error and numerous, unexplained reports.this report is simple ... Some kind of mechanical failure.

This is a very dangerous problem. I have almost been in 3 accidents due to this problem. Issue with my jeep laredo - exactly the same! i have been experiencing the same exact thing!i will be driving (regardless of speed) and everything locks up and i cannot slow down, stop, or speed up, and at the same time the lights around "p-n-d-2-1" will all be highlighted.the engine revs up on its own, sometimes getting into the red zone, and after what seems like forever it all releases and starts to drive normal again.i've had it looked at numerous times, transmission [xxx] near replaced, starter replaced, etc., and it continues to happen.this last incident i was informed of the code "p0700" which has to do with a fault in the transaxle control system.obviously i'm not the only one with this problem.jeep needs to come out with some sort of recall, regardless of mileage or warranty, to fix this before there's a serious accident, hopefully not one that would take any lives!it's apparent that it's not an "operator error" but instead a manufacturing error.this has happened multiple times. All 4 door handles have cracked and driver side passenger door no longer functions either from inside or out. Dealership advise that all four doors (in its entirety) will have to be replaced, and not just the handles.we're awaiting for a quote from the dealership but was advised that it could be a few hundred dollars for each door.please be advised this is my 3rd submission.i believe that defects such as this should be shouldered by jeep, and not the owner.door handles should be made in the highest quality as this is an entry/exit point of the vehicle.please do not wait until the worse happens before something is done with this.
All four interior door handles on my daughters jeep cracked and her back handles are now inoperable. This is a dangerous safety issue! in case of emergency, my daughters passengers would be stuck inside the car causing injury or even death!!! manufacturer charge to replace/repair is prohibitively expensive. $500 per door!!!! this is like a 1/3 of the value of the car at this point. Manufacturer safety recall is warranted!!!!!!!
All four inside door handles and casings are cracked and broken you cannot open the door from the inside.
While driving on city roads or the highway the jeep losses engine power, power steering, brakes seem to not work increasing the risk of a crash. This has happen to my with my children in the car at least 7 times. I just purchased the jeep feb. 2016. The last time this occurred was yesterday aug. 22 2016
Nothing has happened yet!.this car is not safe to drive and they have known about it and will not get the part to fix it.how hard could it be to make the part, apparently no one is making it or it would have been done.i received this recall letter months ago of course they didn't date it so i'm not sure how long it has been. How can a company this big get away with not fixing the problem?
