The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 12v527000 (air bags) had exceeded a reasonable time for repair. The contact air bag warning light was illuminated and the dealer advised the contact that the part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.

Air bag light and signal goes on every thirty seconds.concerned that either the airbag will deploy without impact or may not deploy when required.i brought into dealer nd they indicated a prtclock spring ' needed replacement to make sure air bag was functioning correctly. This isa safety issue noticed on some other chrysler products.there is no recall notice on this model although there is on other chrysler vans.

I received safety recall notice m35/nhtsa 12v-527. Upon contacting dealer i learned they will require my car for 4 to 6 hours, and they do not offer loaner cars, which will require my renting a car. I am on limited income and cannot rent a car for 6 hours. Do i have any other options, but to do nothing?

The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v046000 (air bags); however, the part needed to perform the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they informed there would be a charge to inspect the vehicle even though there was a recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

My airbag light came on after a series of beeps while driving in my 2002 jeep cherokee laredo. I took it to my mechanic that hooked it up to a machine and it was determined my airbags are not functioning. I received a recall notice shortly after in the mail stating there was an airbag recall on my jeep. The airbags have a potential to have an inadvertent airbag deployment. I took it to the jeep dealer and they inspected the problem andstated that it was a problem under the recall, stated my airbags are not functioning and unplugged my airbag so that there would be no chance of a inadvertent deployment on me while driving. This was safer than driving without airbag protection, i was insured i would get the airbags taken care of as soon as parts were available. I have called the jeep recall department and have been told twice i was moved to the top of the list and would get a call as soon as parts are available. It is now 9 months later and i am still driving around without airbags. I cannot sell my vehicle due to it not being in safe condition and do not like driving around with my children in the car without airbag safety. I only drive around town and feel like this is not being taken care of in a timely manner.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo. While driving at 30 mph, the passenger side air bag erupted. There were no injuries. The impact cracked the windshield and the dashboard was fractured. Traveling on an interstate at 0600 hrs on 03 jan 2008 with a below freezing temperature (around 8 degrees f) and had snow flurried the night before (no more than an inch accumulated).an 18-wheeler driving center lane of a 3-lane was driving at a slow speed (65 mph limit, truck driver ~40 mph).i was also in this lane cruising at 65 mph and all though it visibility was only limited due to darkness (no snow, etc.), i did no notice, nor did my passenger, the semi in front of us.depth perception came in realization ~100 feet away from the rear-end of the semi.at that moment i maneuvered into the left lane and attempted to gain control of the fishtailing vehicle.over-correcting caused the vehicle (after fishtailing back and fourth 5 times) to strike the left rear tire of the semi-truck.on impact, the airbags did no deploy.the vehicle was totaled ($10,000+ in repair costs); luckily the passenger and i had our safety belts on which resulted in no serious injuries.nothing has yet been done with the vehicle, it is sitting in a shop right now waiting for the insurance company to progress the claim.police report stated a 'no fault' on either driver due to temperature/weather conditions.point on contact on vehicle (jeep) was right front which destroyed right side of engine, computer, battery, fuses, right shock collapsed, frame is bent and right front side sheet metal is sheared back along with hood detachment.at a speed of 50 mph (after braking & maneuvering), wouldn't you or anyone else expect the airbags, a feature and cost factor of the car, be functional and work properly?

My jeep liberty '02 rear wheel drive. I was attempting to change lanes at about 50-55 mph on a windy day(50 mph winds) when the wind threw my back end into the guard rail when approaching an overpass.the jeep hit the back end on rail followed by the front end then rolled upside down crossed the overpass before rolling over one complete time then finally landed right side up on top of the rail on the opposite side of the overpass. My jeep was hit on every section of panels on every side plus lost many sections from the front and side ends. Not one of my air bags went off and my keys would not come. The jeep no longer looks like an suv, more like a kia rio or something. I should of hit at least one of the sensors for the air bag.

My suv has been having the same problems and i have taken it to the dealership many times; that truck has a serious electrical problem in addition to the same problems like the engine smoking, engine light on and failure of radio and all brake lights.

For no specific reason the windows on the jeep cherokee grand laredo suddenly drop in their channels and will not come back up. I had a similar failure on a 2000 model previously owned, and now with my 2002 i had the same issue on december 31 2005 with the rear driver side window, and yesterday with the passenger front window. This morning i called jeep customer service and was given the typical runaround. I have extended warranty and tried to get the deductible ($100 per occurrence) waived and that didn't work either. I was informed by my servicing deal that this is a known issue that was supposed to have been corrected in models starting in 2005 where they switched the plastic regulator for a metal one. I informed customer relations that this is not an isolated issue as two other coworkers have had the same issue on three windows in the same model trucks/year. Who knows how many others there are out there!. Daimler chrysler obviously doesn't realize that this is a very dangerous situation than can expose drivers to accidents while driving if they have to pay attention to a sudden dropping window, or a potential personal safety issue if driving in a potentially dangerous area. Please investigate what can be done about it.

Brakes have been squeaking constantly.i brought my 2002 jeep cherokee to the dealer 3 times and they have yet to fix the problem.also my check engine light has appeared twice and i have had to pay for them to simply turn it off when there was no problem.i have paid well over $600 for these problems and i have only 29,000 miles on the car!!!!!!!!

2002 jeep grand cherokee with no problems suddenly bursts into flames and burns.

Dt: contact states since the time the vehicle was leased there was a hole in the wheel well.had the rotors resurfaced or replaced 4 times since 2002.the rotors needed to be replaced again.while driving the battery died.the service dealer said the battery was completely drained because the vehicle was not driven enough.the service dealer stated the firstand second set of rotors were defective. The third time consumer was not offered an explanation as to why the rotors were warped.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo. While driving 20 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to a shoulder lane where the vehicle was able to restart. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that several components of the engine had been replaced, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle. The contact did not file a complaint with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 94,946.

On my way to work on monday morning at around 5:15 am, smoke started to come out from my jeep's hood on the drivers side.i turned around and proceed to headback home.within four to five minutes the smoke turned into flames and the front of the car was on fire(on a local street).i jumped out from car andthen called the police.once firemen came they put out the fire.the jeep is a total loss.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and the would constantly overheat, causing the radiator to fail. The vehicle was taken the to the dealer numerous times for the failure where the engine was replaced, transmission seals and fluid were replaced.the radiator was replaced twice yet the repairs did not correct the failure and the engine continued to overheat sporadically. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance to the contact.the failure mileage was 141,530 and the current mileage was 179,705.

Electric fan blade came apart and cut into both the fan shroud and radiator.

On 8/25/06 we heard a loud pop under the hood and the jeep started to overheat and stopped the car until it cooled down, checked the water levels. Called a mechanic to check it out and found that the blades from the fan were all gone and the radiator was dented and the fan shield was broken. I called the daimlerchrysler toll free number and was on hold 45 minutes each time i called, finally spoke to someone and was told we had to take it to a dealership to get a diagnosis in order to do an investigation.

Upon ignition, radiator fan exploded into pieces randomly.found many many other instances of this incident, and all dealers and representatives of chrysler deny any knowledge of the incident.it is for a jeep grand cherokee.here is your report: nhtsa campaign id number: 06v199000 - hide detailsrecall date: 06/08/2006component: engine and engine cooling:cooling system:fanunits affected: 146195recall date:06/08/2006summary:on certain sport utility vehicles, the plastic blades of the electric motor driven cooling fan may separate and penetrate the shroud.consequence:if this occurs while the hood is open, a person in the vicinity of the engine could be struck by the blade and injured.remedy:dealers will replace the electric cooling fan modules free of charge. 1. Purchased car used in february 2005. Fan broke off in july 2005. Ran air daily in summer, no problems, then one day it just made a popping noise. There were pieces of the plastic fan on the ground, and a piece still under the hood.2. I have a warranty, but it does not cover this vehicle. It overheats if i idle too long becausethereis no fan. To purchase a fan shroud from a jeep dealer costs $370-400,not including labor. 3. Have not replaced fan/fan shroud yet.

2002 grand jeep cherokee was taken in for a safety recall f25-electric radiator fan which had caused the jeep to overheat.dealer is stating that the fan locked up causing the radiator to overheat.furthermore, stating that the engine is inoperable which had nothing to do with recall.dealer estimated $8,000 charge to fix engine, but will only cover the fan blade under the safety recall.

My radiator fan broke off the motor on sunday september 9, 2007 and i had it towed to tire kingdom since the dealership was closed.so i called greenway chrysler jeepdodge in orlando, fl on september 10, 2007 to compare parts prices for the shrowd assembly and radiator fan.the dealership process were much lower so i was going to have my car towed there to fix but tire kingdom matched their price.the dealership asked for my make, model, year and vin # to accurately find the prices.the following day i received the recall notice for the exact parts i had fixed and paid 839.00 for.i was extremely upset that i had specifically called the dealership for prices for those exact parts and was not told that it was a recalled part.i have since submitted my bill for reimbursement but i am extremely disappointed in the customer service the jeep dealership gave me.

1.electric radiator fan fractured2.damaged radiator and engine3.spent more than a thousand dollars on repair onall three parts.

I had warped rotors on my car 3 times now.this last time, i only went less than 10,000 miles.they keep using the same part, so the problem is consistent.i just got this problem fixed and later that night my brakes were squeaking.i have a constant rubbing noise when i turn my car (not sharply, just normal turning).they check it every time i'm in for service and state they can't find anything.i had fluids leak in my car that cause a wire to burn (within 3000 miles) and other oil leaks that required new sparks.i feel like i'm constantly in the shop with this car.

I purchased a 2002 jeep grand cherokee overland in november 2005 and by may 2006 the air conditioning & heat stopped working. During the winter months i was unable to drive the vehicle because of rapid fogging of windows. I recently took the vehicle to a jeep dealer to have service done, and was informed that the blend doors neededto be replaced as well as the blower. This will cost approximately $1300. The consequences of this heating and ac failurewere mainly due to fogging of the windows. While driving during changing weather conditions. The windows will rapidly fog up and the defroster will not wor, k causing a danger to myself and those around me. As of now i have not repaired this problem due to thehigh cost.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph and noticed that the entire instrument would not operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that there was an electrical circuit shortage. The brake sensor was replaced and after the repair was performed, an unknown warning indicator began to illuminate. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo.while driving various speeds, the contact noticed that the headlights were dim.she pulled over and inspected the headlights and noticed a film on the light covers due to condensation.she called two dealers to see what could be done to remedy the failure.one dealer stated that they were aware of the defect; however, they both stated that the headlight housing needed to be replaced.the contact called the manufacturer and the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased and they both advised her to replace the headlight housing because nothing could be done to remedy the failure.the failure mileage was 78,000 and current mileage was 90,000. Updated 09/17/08.*ljupdated 09/25/08.

The alert for the turn signal stays on when i turn my headlights on. The tail lights don't work properly, and the reverse lights do not work at all. I have seen this on the same model jeep grand cherokee laredo's on the road at night.

Upper steering column bearing failed. Driving became difficult. Left blinker would not shut off. Almost had an accident when i turned into a right hand exit leaving the highway. Jeep dealer said the worn out bearings got into the turn indicator mechanism.

Recall number a02/orvr system needs to be replaced. There are no parts available/valley buick william penn highway monroeviile pa 15145 412 373 3000. Consumer states two recall notices have been received, however parts are still not available.

I've had two incidents where i had problems with the rotors on this car.1st incident was 8/02 at 8,700 mile & now 11/04 at 17,242 miles.each time as driving i would apply the brake a steering wheel would shake.i brought the car to the dealer and each time they informed me that there was not a problem with rotors being a defective, but they warped due to my driving habits. How would they know my driving habits. I've had several cars in my lifetime and never had these problems.i also had a problem with the fuel injection. It was also repaired by the dealership.i contacted chrysler customer service and they were not helpful.claims that it's not a defect and he said that the rotors can warp after just one trip.i really doubt that.he was extremely rude. I guess with this type of vehicle it's going to be customary to have these repairs done after 8,700 miles.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving various speeds, the interior lights illuminated on and off intermittently without warning.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer numerous times, who was unable to duplicate the problem.the manufacturer was alerted.

Also the drivers side mirrors are broken. The front and back brake pads and rotorswere replaced four times due to the application of cheap rotors to the vehicle.the contact stated the vehicle pulsated while driving 40 mph, but did not have any problems with stopping.other than the pulsation there was no indication that there were any problems with the braking system.the pulsation occurred under normal driving and road conditions.the replacements had to be doneevery 9,000 miles at the consumer's expense with the exception of one time.the contact stated that the torque converterfailed.the consumerreplaced the torque converterwith the manufacturer covering half of the cost.

(1)hot/cold air blowing blend door from vents is not working.(2)air circulation buttonis not working properly.(3)dashboard have a creaking sound coming from its underside when i turn on ventilation.(4)front & rear differential make noises when turning.

Rear seat belt and rear folding seat did not latch properly.

Driver seat made slight bumping noise when moving seat back and forth on a daily basis for about a month. I was then involved in a very low impact accident where i was hit in the right front of my vehicle. At impact of collision the drivers seat completely sheared off of the bracket. This should never happen! i could have been seriously injured. Im now fighting with my insurance company to fix this seat. They are stating that it is not normal for a seat to break like this from a low impact collision. Apparently from everything i have read online it takes very little for these seats to break and they should have been recalled for a major safety issue.

Drivers seat frame has broken 4 times and seat rocks back and forth. I have had the seat replaced 3 times, the last time i was told a new part number would be installed, when i claimed the vehicle, i found the same part number was put in and that one failed. Twice in the past 7 months i requested they order the new part, they agreed and each time i went in to inquire about the status of my request, they said they have no record of my requesting the part. At this time the mileage is now out of warranty.

My drivers side front seat came off and fell into the back seat.it is hanging loose.i read on the internet carsurvey that jeep grand cherokee's of all years are having this problem and want to know why there is no recall.

The contact owns a 2002 jeep laredo.while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the driver's seat suddenly snapped and fell backwards.the contact examined the seat and noticed that the frame separated.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the failure occurred without warning.the current and failure mileages were 64,250.

Driver side front seat of my 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo started of making a clicking noise when applying brake or gas pedal.then the lower metal of seat bottom snapped and detached caused me to fall into the back seat while driving, almost caused an accident. Lucky im still alive. I have since tried to find a replacement seat but am having no luck and i cant afford a $700+ bill to fix it.

Rear seat belt and rear folding seat did not latch properly.

Brake rotors on 2002 jeep grand cherokee needed to be resurfaced due to warping, vehicle has 18000 miles on it. Would not have made complaint but apparently these complaints are numerous,, and chrysler need to make good. This definitely is a manufacturer defect, with so many complaints. No way should brake rotors warped so much.. And of course its not paid for,

Car, jeep laredo 2002 w18000 miles. Needed new frt brake rotors and pads.

While traveling on the highway when she applied her brakes the vehicle startto shake and vibrates.the dealership is aware of the problem. Mr

Dt*: the contact stated when the brake was applied, the brake pedal went to the floor about two inches from the floor before the brake activated.the dealership was aware and replaced a master cylinder and brake pads, but the problem persisted.the dealership informed the contact this was a normal characteristic of the vehicle.there were no lights illuminated on the vehicle prior to the incident.

Since i bought the vehicle, the brakes have not been "right".i took it in a few times to be told nothing was wrong. I was in 2 accidents, where the vehicle would not stop, and rear ended each vehicle. When i braked at speeds over 50 mph, the front of the vehicle shook. In aug. 04, i called the dealer again to complain, and was told the brakes are not under warranty (2002 grand cherokee laredo - 26000 mi) i finally took it to my private mechanic, who told me that he has replaced numerous brakes on this model - they seem to be out of alignment from the start. My insurance company dropped me - too many of the same accidents in the last 2 years, and am now paying high rates, as a result.

Dt:04-29-04 while driving through a parking lot, prior to that had been to a flower nursey where a lot of dirt and gravel were on ground and then to a shopping center.driving a slow speed approaching stop sign, regular weight in vehicle.applied brake pressure which seemed to grip and then started to slow and then lost function on brakes.applied steady pressure to try to stop before the intersection, approximately 15 feet from the interesection took foot off brake which was pressed to floor which seemed as if they were responding but only for a few seconds which ceased to work despite continous pressure. No brakes whatsoever.removed foot immediately and then pushed down hard to engage abs.felt or heard nothing.at that point, steering was under control but car was not stoping.was in straightway struck another vehicle which was speeding through.hit the side of the passenger part of the other vehicle in the rear, totaled suv with full frontal impact.air bags deployed in a soft manner.feels as though sensors along with other systems were not operating normally.suffered head and chest injuries.selt bags did not lock along with brakes.again air bags were soft, driver went through air bag striking the steering wheel with head and chest.

While driving in the rain or snowand when brakes were depressed vehicle went out of control.vehicle was taken to the dealer five times before the problem was repaired.the pads/rotors and the drums were replaced during the last visit. Manufacturer had not been informed of the problem.

Consumerhad to replace the brake pads, drums, and rotors after 9880 miles. Brake pads, drums, and rotors were replaced three times withless than 20,000 miles.

I have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and have recently been told the rotors are warped. I had the same problem with my previous 2004 jeep grand cherokee after a few months of leasing it brand new. In speaking with the jeep service representatives at my local dealership and local independent mechanics, i have learned that this warping is a specific problem with jeep grand cherokee braking systems. In speaking with their corporate office, they are unwilling to acknowledge this is a problem.

While driving in the rain or snowand when brakes were depressed vehicle went out of control.vehicle was taken to the dealer five times before the problem was repaired.the pads/rotors and the drums were replaced during the last visit. Manufacturer had not been informed of the problem.

The front brakes wore out prematurely at 13,000 miles.the manufacturer was contacted, and to this date the complaint had not been resolved.an independent shop indicated that this wasa very frequent problem.the vehicle was not fixed.the vehicle had warped rotors.the situation deteriorated over a period of time to the point where the brakes would constantly vibrate and shake at any speed. *sc

While applying the brake pedal vehicle jerked and failedto stop completely.consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that therotors needed to be replaced, and replaced them three times. However, the problem recurred.

While drivingat 25 mph, and when the brakes were depressed there wassevere vibration in the entire vehicle.this problem happened on numerous occasions.also, this problem was progressively getting worse, to the point were the steering wheel wouldshake in consumer's hands. Dealer found that the problem pertained to the brakerotors.

In march 2004 at approximatly 11,800 miles i had the brakes on my 2002 jeep replaced due to warped rotors. The brakes were replaced in acordance with tsb 05-003-02 and tsb lon 05-81-01-92. In june 2005 at approximatly 21,000 miles the rotors were warped again and the jeep dealer recommended replacing the rotors againbut it would not be covered under warranty. Even if they had replaced them under warranty i would still be concerned about the safety of these brakes if the rotors need to be replaced every 10,000 miles. After a search on the internet i have discovered that this does not appear to be an isolated problem. I have also submitted a request for assiatance from chrysler but after what i have read i don't expect much help from them.

Consumerhad to replace the brake pads, drums, and rotors after 9880 miles. Brake pads, drums, and rotors were replaced three times withless than 20,000 miles.

I would like to know why the government has not required daimler chrysler to have a recall on this problem, i have read many, many complaints sent to you for the same problem which i now have. I have a 2002 grand jeep laredo bought new in6/2002, i have 26,300 miles on the car and i am the only driver. I took it in for service on 7/20/06. I have been having significant vibrations in my steering wheel when going over 45 and stepping on the brake to slow down, i thought my tires or wheels were out of balance but they informed me i have warped rotors which need to be replaced and also the brake pads at a cost to me of over four hundred dollars. Obviously it is a manufacturing problem causing this to happen, after all thecomplaints you have received about this i don't understand why there has not been a recall to correct this, i have not had the work done as yet. I have had many, many new cars and never had a problem like this, this is the first daimler chrysler car i have ever owned & for sure the last. Waiting to hear from you in regards to this matter. Thank you.

Dt: the contact owns a 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo. The contact has 37,000 miles on the vehicle. He states that chrysler has replaced the rotors six times and cut them down twice. They were doing this repair under warranty, and now his experiencing this problem again. Warranty expired, and they will not do it anymore they told him it would cost him 235.00 to replace. Chrysler told him that they had gone above and beyond and that was all they were going to do with the vehicle. Talked to several other people with the jeep vehicles and they all have been having the sameproblem. The contact stated that after 3000 miles of driving the vehicle began to have this problem.between 3000 miles-5000 miles miles the rotors warped and needed to be replaced.

Brakes/ rotor/caliper replaced @ 6257 miles due to vibration when applying brakes at any speed. Brake light on @ 16992 miles due to low brake, cause of this was right front caliper bajo bolt loose. @ 19353 miles after oil change and tire rotation brakes began to surge when applied, found lugnuts torqued down to tight. Instead of replace damaged rotors they turned rotors. @ 40405 miles brakes again strated to vibrates and surge when apllying brakes at any speed. Warrenty has since expired on the brakes.

Consumerhad to replace the brake pads, drums, and rotors after 9880 miles. Brake pads, drums, and rotors were replaced three times withless than 20,000 miles.

While driving in the rain or snowand when brakes were depressed vehicle went out of control.vehicle was taken to the dealer five times before the problem was repaired.the pads/rotors and the drums were replaced during the last visit. Manufacturer had not been informed of the problem.

Steeringcolumn broke, steering box andhose leak---squeaking noise occur when turning steering wheel, wheels feel like they are coming from under the vehicle when making turns, and vehicle steering wheel tightens when turning---vehicle has not been repaired as of this date- chrysler dealer stated that this is not a recall issue--- this is a something that has been reported as a problem for several vehicles of the same model--noted by experienced mechanics.

Upper steering column bearing failed. Driving became difficult. Left blinker would not shut off. Almost had an accident when i turned into a right hand exit leaving the highway. Jeep dealer said the worn out bearings got into the turn indicator mechanism.

While driving at 45 mph the vehicle will vibrate. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information. Mr

Dt*:the contact stated while placing the vehicle in reverse with brake pressure applied, the vehicle lurched backwards.the contact shut off the ignition which stopped the vehicle.the vehicle struck a tree with extensive damage to the rear of the vehicle.no injuries were sustained.the police were contacted, but a report was not taken.the vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection, but was unable to determine the cause of the sudden acceleration.

No heat or defroster on 2002 jeep grand cherokeewas told by dealer that the blend motor needed to be replaced at cost of more than $900.00.

Heater blend doors broken, heater blows cold air all the time on the passengers side of the vehicle.

1) we were going on a road trip to ne tennessee when the windshiled defrost failed.2) there is no hot air coming out to properly defrost the windshield which affected our visibility in the mountains.3) took it to the dealership to get an estimate and found out that it was going to cost ~$900.i opted not to get it done since it was so much.i was charged $110 for them to diagnose the problem.

Heating system no longer defrosted the front windshield properly.from what i understand thiswas a common problem on jeeps equipped with dual climate control.blender doors in the heating/cooling system failed and as a result.proper heat was not attainable to defrost front windshield.this was hazerdous, andcouldcause a crash if the driver's vision of the roadbwas impaired.

Hello and thanks for listening,i purchased a 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited with 47,000 miles about 4 months ago and at around 55,000 miles the passenger heat and defrost quit working while the driver's side continued to operate properly. That was so until i went to a local dealership to find that the passenger "blend air door" was showing "too large of travel" by the dealership computer. What this means is the door that aids in directing the heat to the designated vents on the passenger side is broken. Estimated cost to replace was given to be $737 and that was if i scheduled repair within one month. Two weeks later the driver's side heat and defrost quit working along with the recirculation vent that inhibits outside air in the ventilation system. I am unable to drive this car at present time due to the inability to defrost the windows. After trying to troubleshoot the problem i find this to be a problem due to poor design in the grand cherokee in the years 1999-2004. It is also my understanding failure of these parts was so common that many models were repaired with the same factory partsand failed after being replaced by the dealerships. Then in 2007 the chrysler corporation acknowledged only to the dealerships that these parts were being replaced with newer designs due to the original designs were insufficient for this type ventilation system. In other words the engineering of the system was sure to be a problem for owners. Please investigate this problem and make chrysler/jeep recall these systems and repair with the upgraded parts before someone kills innocent people due to accidents related to foggy windshields. Some people cannot just park their car due to this factory defect.....thanks....glenn

(1)hot/cold air blowing blend door from vents is not working.(2)air circulation buttonis not working properly.(3)dashboard have a creaking sound coming from its underside when i turn on ventilation.(4)front & rear differential make noises when turning.

One cool morning my 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited stopped blowing warm air from passenger side vents.searching for a possible solution to my problem, i come to the conclusion it might be my blend door actuator that has broken.i am unable to afford the repairs ... Dealerships are quoting me almost $1300 to fix.i have done nothing to cause this problem.after reading article from many grand cherokee owners, they have had the same problem.this needs to be taken care of soon.

Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower took vehicle in for checkup and told them it was making a noise and we thought something was wrong with the system in 2003.in 2007 the blend door was broke - cost over a thousand dollars to get it fixed.

Heater quit working only blows cold air, will not defrost windshield always fogs and frosts on interior, must stop on hwys to avoid crashes with other cars.

The dual climate control no longer works in my grand cherokee....when the heat is on the passenger side still gets cold air. I have not fixed the problem and am not looking forward to it....but i will have to soon.

I bought a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and 5 days later the passenger side window fell into the door while my pregnant wife was driving.had she been driving a long distance in the winter this could have been very dangerous.i know that might sound like a long shot but it could happen.

My 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo has power windows and i have had to replace all of my window motors and or cables and i am not the only one with the same problem. One of the windows i have replaced twice. This is ridiculous. Today was the most recent date but this has all happened in the last six months.

Poor design of power window regulator/motor assembly has led to my lf window to break. I have reviewed many resources online, and found that these jeeps are notorious for this problem. The failure of this device caused a major distraction while driving at highway speeds, like most other people with this problem. Jeep/chrysler needs to stop putting people at risk for such a ridiculous problem.

Rear window on 2002 jeep cherokee dropped.broken window regulator.a search of the internet disclosed that this is a very common problem/defect with jeep cherokees.

Driver's side automatic window failed for no reason, while driving down the interstate. The window all of the sudden fell about 1/3 of the way. This was done under normal driving conditions. So far, nothing has been done to replace the part. I have been told it is the window regulator, and that this is a common issue in many jeeps.
