I was driving to riverhead, ny on saturday june 22nd with my wife when my jeep grand cherokee 1999 stalls the engine on the hov lane at the speed of 60 mph at close to exit 62 in long island expressway (i-495), it was just very scary and too dangerous. I couldn't imagine if i was driving on the fast lane or on the center lane with all the vehicles in those speed or more. I was lucky to have use the hov lane and be able to steer the car very hard to the left side and put my hazard light right away and also able to hold on my brakes.

Consumer requested that factory running boards be installed in the vehicle for medical reasons, which were promised by the dealership at the time of purchase, however when consumer arrived to picked up the vehicle, the running boards had not been installed, but the dealer had installed what was called side steps, which were then installed incorrectly, consumer was informed that new holes would be drilled to make the side steps straight, when the vehicle was brought back out the side step were still crooked and it looked as though someone had taken a hammer and pounded on the edge to straighten it out, consumer was informed to take the vehicle home and she would be called when the running board came in, consumer was never contacted and when she finally spoke to someone, she was told that once the vehicle is driven off the lot, she has then accepted the terms and conditions of vehicle, conusmer states she still has not received the floor mats, cargo cover or the second ignition key that was promised in the contract.

Jeep grand cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to safety related design defect that makes nighttime driving hazardous *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle is equipped with high intensity discharge headlamps where the vertical aiming is controlled by an electronic headlamp leveling system. The purpose of the feature is to provide a consistent headlamp roadway aiming point regardless of the vehicle's loading and changes to center of gravity. The vehicle also has a height adjustment feature which automatically adjust the vehicle's height from roadway in response to, among other conditions, vehicle speed.at city speeds, the vehicle establishes itself at normal ride height. At freeway speed, the vehicle automatically lowers itself to aerodynamic ride height. The consumer's observation was the aiming point of the headlamps changed depending on the ride height and did so in a manner which caused blinding of on-coming traffic at city speeds, yet rendered acceptable forward visibility at freeway speeds. If the headlamps were manually adjusted to compensate for the city speeds, then when the vehicle reached freeway speeds and lowered itself, the headlight aiming point dropped significantly and forward visibility was thereby severely diminished.

Letter from center for auto safety which contains a detailed analysis of fuel system failures in the jeep grand cherokee currently subject of nhtsa investigation pe10-031.the fuel tank is located behind the rear axle; a dangerously venerable area in the rear crush zone. The tank is made of plastic and has a fuel filler hose that is vulnerable to separation in a rear crash.the tank itself has no valve that would ensure containment of fuel in the event of a crash.the vulnerability of the fuel tank is exacerbated by the dangerous design of the fuel filler hose, which can lead to a fire.

Submission from re alleged "structural protection" of jeep grand cherokee fuel tank system (cd enclosed) *tgwthe consumer was writing to discuss a recent investigation he conducted, which was prompted in-part by public/private statements made and testimony offered by chrysler defense counsel, chrysler dealership defense counsel, existing and former chrysler employees, and various product liability defense experts. These statements and testimony have alleged in a general sense that the structure in the rear of the jeep grand cherokee offers crashworthiness to the rear mounted, polyethylene fuel tank system. His investigation concentrated on the 1993-1998 zj-body of the jeep grand cherokee, but the following can also be applied to the 199-20004 wj-body version;both of which are a portion of the referenced nhtsa engineering analysis. The ruse that the structure, and to a lesser extent the rear bumper provides real-world crashworthiness is exacerbated by the appearance of the jeep grand cherokee. That appearance, although aesthetically appealing, obscured the exact opposite reality. The customer is mislead into perceiving that the fuel tank is protected by rear components, and most egregiously this perception may not even occur because the fuel tank location issue is esoteric for the typical lay person.
