On may 24,2021 while in vehicle the headrest deployed for no reason at all striking me in the back of the head, had i been actively moving this i feel could have been dangerous. Fortunately i was at a stop.i have since then contacted my local dealership and will be taking vehicle in for repair.my concern now is could this happen again? i had no clue this was affecting other vehicles as well until it happened to me,i went online to research headrest deployment and found this is a huge problem!i'm not comfortable with fact that when my wife is driving this vehicle that the possibility of headrest deployment exist!
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While the contact's wife was stopped in stop and go traffic, a tractor trailer crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was in economy mode at the time of the crash. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The driver struck her head on the steering wheel and sustained head injuries. Medical attention was received. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact called northwest hills chrysler jeep dodge ram (2033 e main st, torrington, ct 06790, (860) 482-0700), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 12,000. *dt *dtthe consumer stated vehicle deemed a total loss by the insurance company.
I was traveling south on cambridge rd. As i was approaching a shopping plaza, a vehicle was attempting to exit the parking lot of the plaza also heading south. As the vehiclewas attempting to make the left hand turn, it pulled in front of my car, driving me off the road. I had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting that car, and when i did i crashed into an electrical pole, destroying the entire front end and totaling the car. The airbags did not deploy and this is why i'm filing this report.
A person hit my front left panel near my driver door and i was thrown around like a rag doll even though i had my seat belt on. This is extremely just awful since we bought this becausethe number of airbags. This driver of the other vehicle ran a light and plowed into me. I was driving 40mph and don't know how fast he was going.*dt

In accident 2/23/21, vehicle was t- boned in intersection which sent me into cement overpass. No airbags dash or side deployed. Vehicle was total loss.
I have problem and i need to know about this vehicle
On 01/09/19 my wife was involved in a single vehicle accident in which her vehicle ran off the roadway down an embankment resulting in the vehicle sustaining a total loss of the vehicle due to damages.the front of the vehicle was completely destroyed as it hit some type of barrier which destroyed the under carriage striking two trees before it came to rest about 300 yards off the roadway. My concern is that none of the airbags deployed in this horrific accident which fortunately my wife only sustained minor injuries.
The blower motor has been replaced twice within a 4 month period. 1st time, hot air was blowing when a/c on. 2nd time, there was a loud noise when a/c on. Also, the start/ stop feature not working as of 1 month ago. Took it to dealership last week to get it fixed and they said it was fixed, but still not working. 1/25/2021
As im driving, the car complete dies on me, no power, no brakes, no steering, nothing is working, this is the 3rd time this is happening, im not safe in this car, i drive my kids,
Uconnect has bricked my radio, rear camera, heating/cooling system, navigation, and almost all of the controls.
Power driver seat adjusts forward while i am in motion. Dangerous driving condition occurs when i am crammed up against the steering wheel.at dealership x 2 with no resolution.they claim to have performed a memory and software reset.
On multiple occasions, while traveling at varying speeds, the entire dashboard and infotainment system have shut down for anywhere from several seconds to several minutes. The engine has not shut down, but there has been a noticeable lack of power following these events.this has occurred while maneuvering through a parking lot, traveling on a highway, through a downtown city street and on country roads. The events have occurred at varying times of day and during varying weather climates. The initial occurrence was in june 2019 while traveling on the highway. The vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times for service for this issue, yet the problem continues to occur. They have replaced a backup battery to the start/stop, as well as the button, in efforts to locate and solve the problem.
The computer screen has delaminated causing computer system failure
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The vehicle stalled while drivingthe contact was stranded for approximately 10-15 minutes before vehicle resumed proper functionthe stop/start feature was inoperablethe contact stated that while stopped in traffic, the auto stop/start feauture became inoperable. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was unable to turn the vehicle off or switch the vehicle into gear. The vehicle was taken to joey accardi chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram, 909 federal hwy, pompano beach, fl 33062, (954) 943-6700, on three separate occasions to be diagnosed. On the first occasion the contact was informed that a wiring harness failed and needed to be replaced. On the second and third occasion the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed the secondary battery that controls the stop start feature was depleted and need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.*as
Our jeep gc stalled and nothing worked while pulling out into traffic from a gas station. After waiting a couple minutes the lights on the dash came back on and we were allowed to restart the vehicle. Once the engine started we cautiously continued. We drove approximately 20-30 miles down the road when the jeep died again. This time we were driving 70 mph+, and with no warning the engine died and all electrical equipment was dead. We were fortunate to get pulled over without issue. Again, after a couple minutes of sitting there the dash came back on and we were allowed to start again. This happened 4 more times before we reached the dealership that we purchased the jeep from. It is there currently awaiting diagnosis. 13,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the radio/infotainment system controlled several functions in the vehicle, including heating and air. The contact stated that on several occasions, the infotainment system overheated and caused several of the electrical functions to become inoperable. Also, on occasion, the heat or air would activate independently and could not be turned off. The contact stated that the radio would then attempt to reboot until the battery discharged. The vehicle was taken to garden city jeep (283 n franklin st, hempstead, ny 11550, (516) 336-4712) to be diagnosed and the dealer was able to duplicate the failure. The infotainment system was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was also taken to east hills jeep and bayside jeep in new york for additional inquiries. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the infotainment system was safe to operate at 80 degrees; however, the temperature of the infotainment system showed at over 100 degrees during operation. The approximate failure mileage was 16.
In september of 2018 in an elevated grocery store parking lot, immediately at the moment of a low speed front collision that bent part of the front bumper, the engine rpm spiked extremely high. I then carefully put my foot square on the break and applied pressure before putting the vehicle in reverse so i could park in order to check the damage. As my foot was firm on the brake, while shifting into reverse the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed as the engine rpm continued to violently accelerate and spike. The brake was rock solid and did not activate all, no matter how much pressure i put on it as the jeep accelerated through the parking lot in reverse, getting up to about 40 to 50 mph before striking 4 other vehicles. At least 2 of the other vehicles were totaled. Only after the jeep came to a complete stop into one of the parked cars, was i able to turn the engine off and get out to make sure no people were injured. Several pedestrians were walking to their cars at the moment of the incident. No one was hurt but several people could have been killed or seriously injured as a result of the engine throttle/rpm spiking out of control. The experience was completely horrifying. The on duty police officer who i spoke with, who was also present at the time of the incident, did not write a ticket. After interviewing me he determined that i was of sound mind and body and not under the influence of any type of substance.after speaking with several technicians and sales associates at the jeep dealer, i' was advised to contact jeep corporate to speak with someone who had the authority to help me resolve this matter. Moving forward my best advise to anyone else would be to check this (nhtsa) website for any manufacturer malfunctions and/or recalls.
Touchscreen interface (8.4" uconnect) is delaminating and causing ghost touches which randomly select and activate systems on the screen, including switching screens to different controlled systems.while some of these may not be considered safety-related (environmental controls), i would respectfully suggest that others are, including: random and unexpected changing, turning on or off radio various audio at various sound levels (imagine turning on your car and somebody jokingly set the radio to an extremely loud volume - funny, but not necessarily unsafe. Now imagine that happens randomly while you are driving down the road!);interfaced mobile phone randomly placing calls (i have had this happen; solved by disconnecting phone, but was extremely distracting the first time it happened);random activation of the rear-view camera while driving;navigation system randomly activates (and tries to direct you somewhere you are not going); and inability to disable the screen in order to alleviate the distractions (ghost touches automatically turn it back on).this is apparently an issue with tons of jeep, chrysler, dodge and ram vehicles...especially 2018 and later.to this point, fca is refusing to address if out of warranty (which many, including mine, now are).let me be clear, i am not trying to avoid an out-of-warranty repair on my dime, but i truly believe that the random activation of many of these systems - and the inability to disable most of those - is so distracting that it presents a major safety issue.i would respectfully request you look into this.a few forums indicating how widespread this is: www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/ www.ramforumz.com/threads/uconnect-8-4-screen-delamination.274234/ www.ramforum.com/threads/8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-delaminating.162663/ https://www.infotainment.com/blogs/news/touchscreen-bubbling-a-widespread-problem-in-chrysler-dodge-jeep-and-ram-vehicles
My vehicle was purchased brand new 11/2018, when i press the button to start it, 75% of the time it won't start and takes several attempts. Also when i shift into reverse, the r just flashes and the vehicle won't reverse. It won't move until i turn it off and restart it again. These two problems occur frequently.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. Prior to the failure, the contact noticed an abnormal fuel odor and smoke coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to river oaks chrysler jeep dodge ram (4807 kirby dr., houston, tx 77098, (713) 524-3801) where it was diagnosed with an electrical failure. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the failure was not due to nhtsa campaign number: 18v048000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was advised to have the vehicle towed to another authorized chrysler dealer to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 18v048000 (fuel system, gasoline). The approximate failure mileage was 1,593.
2018 jeep grand cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to odometer and transmission issues. *ldthe consumer stated mileage recorded on the odometer does not conform to the manufacturer's disclosed miles per gallon. The gears of the transmission are defective, the gear shifts into an unknown gear and would not move forward.
Put my truck in park open my door walk in front of my truck to open my gate. Turn around only to see my truck leaping towards me.luckily for me the truck ran into the gate before i slide the gate.. There is clearly a big problem and chrysler don't want to assume responsibility.
Infotainment system freezes and shuts off on its own when driving. System does its own reboot and can become non functional
Display showing signs of delamination from the digitizer.looks like the screen in loosing fluid and draining down.screen doesn't work correctly where it is delaminated. It is a distraction during driving if it dowork correctly.
An issue relating to electrical or power train causes the vehicle to stalland remain in a no start condition.without warning, the vehicle is completely without electrical power while driving and the vehicle becomes unable to be controlled.this vehicle was manufactured 9/2018, purchased 12/18.this incident happened while driving the vehicle on the interstate at a speed of 45-55 mph on 5/31/18 and again while driving at 30-40 mph on a city street on 10/18/19. Both of these incidents were terrifying and thankfully we were not involved in an accident.the only service that has been performed (oil changes and these two issues) was completed by the dealership where it was purchased.both times the vehicle failed, the dealership discovered that the master fuse was "blown" and the replaced it.this is an unsafe vehicle that i am now forced to pay for and drive myself and my children around in not knowing when it will shut off and i will no longer be able to control the vehicle or move from the flow of traffic.when calling the manufacturer, i was told that the recall number u87 / nhtsa id 18v524000 did not include my vin number although the description is exactly the same.this recall explains that the dealer should replace the powertrain control module because it may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail causing a stall or no start condition and potentially causing the vehicle to stall while driving and cause a risk of crash.yet, the dealership is unwilling to do anything to resolve the issue because the recall does not include this vin. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge this issue and this is my only recourse until the issue happens two more times, i survive being in an inoperable moving vehicle and can file for lemon law rights.
Just purchased 2018 jeep grand cherokee from bulk dealer.the engine consistently stalls while in drive (at red lights, stop signs, intersections) causing safety issues and near mvas. During stall, the ac continues to blow but air is not cold. The vin# shows no unrepaired recalls, but the vehicle is behaving exactly as described in recall u87. It still has some time on warranty but i'm not sure how to proceed here. This is certainly unsafe.
Transmission thumps, complete loss of power upon acceleration nearly resulting in several mva's.extreme difficulty in getting fuel into the vehicle, constant surges in rpm, dash display goes black, touch screen turns off, goes silent, will not respond, does not recognize key fob and on several instances has allowed me to start and drive vehicle without fob.mirrors make high pitched whistling noise.very dangerous vehicle.i would not recommend this vehicle to anyone who values their lives or lives of other drivers on the road. This has all been constant pretty much since we purchased the vehicle new.dealership has not been helpful.chrysler is very difficult to deal with.has happened since we purchased the vehicle new.very very dangerous
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that every time the vehicle was in operation and a turn was made, the vehicle decelerated and lost power. Also, thefront wheels and steering wheel seized. The contact could not turn the vehicle due to the stiffness of the steering wheel. In addition, the engine leaked oil and the electronic throttle, check engine, and stability control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to north west dodge (9616 northwest fwy, houston, tx 77065, (281) 720-1128) where it was diagnosed that the oil needed to be changed. The vehicle was repaired multiple times, but the failures recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 39,680. The vin was invalid.
Started out with having issues with the radio screen not coming on just the jeep logo would show up. Then it progressed to the screen and radio would restart as i'm driving and occasionally would make a loud beeping noise out of nowhere. Went to start my car and all the lights across the dash would flash and change colors (from a blue to orange) and the car will not start. Now nothing works at all on the car and i can't get the car to start. Car is completely dead.
I have a 2018 grand jeep and since i took delivery in 2018 he uconnect feature has never worked right, and now is beyond useless/dangerous. I have been given the run arounds by the dealership, and doesn't want to cover 2018 vehicle in 2020 with very little use this whole year. The whole system is not safe with random changes with radio volume, temp changes, nav changing instructions in route, etc. It's beyond frustrating and i can't seem to get a straight or help. Online this has been an issue for year before my model was sold, and never addresses. This is fraud and straight negelence, and iwish i could give this vehicle back. Worse purchase ever!!
On january 23, 2018, leased a 2018 jeep grand cherokee vehicle from criswell located at 84 bureau drive, gaithersburg, md 20871. Since that time, i have experienced an extraordinary number of technical and mechanical issues with the vehicle including a major safety concern:'brakes locking when attempting to start vehicle (i was advised on 7/3/19 bya service advisor at criswell, that this could potentially happen while driving)'vehicle not starting'vehicle shutting down at red light'a faulty drive shaft that was replaced'rear camera freezing'dashboard display going blank while drivingi fear for my safety and that of my family and request that action be taken on my behalf. Sadly, every time i take my vehicle to the dealership, they cannot duplicate the issues and are, therefore, unable to be of any assistance at all while i continue to experience issues on a weekly basis. Jeep customer care (800-992-1997) assigned a case number and has complete documentation to support my complaint.
While driving about 10 mph in my neighborhood, the engine abruptly cut off. The "d" on my dash began to flash. Steering was difficult and braking was difficult. The car just coasted. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road and put it in park. Then i was able to restart the car. If i had been on a highway or a busy street, this would easily have been an accident. My 8 year old son was in the car. Now i'm scared to drive the car. I have called the dealer to have them take a look at the vehicle. Seems this is not just an issue for me. A lot of other 2018 jeeps have had this issue. A car that randomly shuts off while it's being driven is a horrific accident waiting to happen. Hopefully something can be done at the dealership.another issue with the car that may be related or separate. The radio in my center consol turns on when i start the car. Then it freezes and shuts off. Then it turns itself back on and freezes and shuts off again. It goes through this process several time before it will turn on, stay on, and function properly. I am told that it could be that the car needs an update. I am also told by the dealer that the update could result in the car needing an entirely new radio.
On our way to the grocery store, i turned onto the highway and began accelerating. Suddenly the engine shuts off and random messages pop up on the display. The "d" on the shift indicator was blinking telling me to put the vehicle into park to restart. Steering and braking were impaired as i tried to get the vehicle to the emergency lane. Numerous vehicles at highway speeds had to make rapid maneuvers to avoid hitting us. After coming to a stop and putting the vehicle in park, i restarted the vehicle. The engine light was now on and there were numerous messages coming up on the display. There were also random electrical occurrences as well, rear wiper running with switch in off position. This was a very dangerous situation. Had the individual behind us not had room to maneuver into the adjacent lane he would have impacted us for sure. This seems to be a known issue that needs to be addressed. As this incident just happened i have not a chance to contact a dealer yet. There was no warning prior to the incident. We have had no issues with this vehicle to this point save one, and i do not know if they are related or not. But randomly for a few months prior to this incident, the vehicles radio/control console would freeze up becoming totally unresponsive. It will eventually reboot itself and begin working again. Sometimes after one restart and other times it takes several restarts after varying lengths of time being frozen. The frequency of these occurrences seem to be increasing also. If this was just your radio controls it would be annoying enough, this is your control center for everything. Have not addressed this with the dealer yet as well. I will be contacting my nearest dealership this week.
As i turned into a gas station after driving highway speeds, the vehicle stalled out. I lost power steering and brakes. The dash began flashing put vehicle in park to start. I had to come to a complete stop, place the vehicle in park and then restart it. The vehicle has approx 3800 miles on it with a fresh oil change from the dealership, frontier dodge. After restarting, the vehicle ran fine.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While driving 60-65 mph the vehicle failed to accelerate and loss motive power. The traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to town and country car and truck center 10 craft dr, alamosa, co 81101, (720) 230-5846, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.
Display dash screen shuts off and on appx every 30 seconds, reboots, and overheats, driving or stationary.
The vehicle nav display shuts down and then the car won't start.i have been in traffic when this has happened twice so far.in both cases the car was stationary.once on a highway and once on a city street.the latest time this happened was 6/11/19 at 7:29 pm.additionally the nav screen has shut down as follows6/12/19 12:14 pm6/26/19 3:51 pm'6/28/19 10:13 pm7/1/19 8:22 am7/10/19 1:57 pm7/11/19 9:42 am7/18/19 3:10 pm7/19/19 9:02 am
The main jeep battery had a thermal runaway and melted to the point it started a fire. The battery is located under the passenger seat and melted the battery cover, seat cover, carpet, seat trim.both battery cables jeep would not cover this under their warranty.2018 jeep warranty statementfrom the date of purchase, a jeep basic limited warranty (or jeep bumper-to-bumper warranty) covers the cost of repairs throughout most of your vehicle. It also covers the cost of parts and labor due to defective materials, workmanship, or factory preparation. A basic warranty also covers jeep roadside assistance for towing to a dealership during the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Similar to multiple reviews posted here, 2018 jeep grand cherokee shuts off completely while driving. As of this date 12.18.2019 i have experienced my car shutting off entirely at street to highway speeds (25-65 mph) being unable to restart multiple times (5). As a part of restarting the vehicle one is prompted to place the vehicle in park and activate by pushing the start/stop. - couple of issues there 1) you have to somehow manage to get your vehicle out of the middle ofa busy street/highway which likely wont happen.2) when you realize you cant get into a safe area and put your car inpark to attempt restart, the vehicle does not restart at all. This leavesyou and your vehicle completely stranded and locked out. Puttingpersonal safety and the safety of everyone else in a highlydangerous situation. And then the cops come tell you they will towyou at your own expense. - i have been lucky enough to jump the vehicle all of the times i have been stranded. Let me be the first to tell you that two cars stopped dead in the middle of a highway performing a jump is 100% a life threatening situation. Now, the vehicle also likes to decide that it just doesn't want to start at erratic intervals. I have now 3 times experienced my vehicle just flat out not starting.once right in the morning at work, once at work trying to go for lunch and the final time being at lunch. It's become painfully clear that the dealership has no idea what is wrong and they are now sending me out on labrat excursions hoping they fixed an issue they cannot identify. They are doing this knowing full well that the cost of failure could end up being my life.
The vehicle spontaneously erupted in flames by itself while it was parked with the engine turned off.......see attachments
At a stoplight i pressed on the brakes and they were too hard to push down as i look to make sure i was in drive which i know i was and i was i was in dr. And they were still too hard to push down so i put it in park put it back and drive it pushed out at first and then chyna kicked me back really hard so i did that one more time and they finally engaged and we're workingsunroof track keeps going off problems with bluetooth connection to iphone constantlywheels we are out very very quicklyat 17,000 miles can already feel transmission slipping
My backup camera has quit working. It won't even turn on. The uconnect is also unresponsive as far as trying to turn off the unit. I tried the three reset options and nothing. I can't force an update or anything. So now i have no backup camera.
Back up camera stopped working. Does not come when transmission is in reverse and will not work from apps on screen. The radio doesn't shut off either.
My 2018 jeep grand cherokee has been submitted to the dealership for a faulty sos feature.the sos does not connect to emergency services and does not shut off.the system stays engaged until a fuse is pulled in the battery compartment under the front passenger seat.multiple submissions and "star tickets" have not produced correction and star tickets cancelled multiple times by the oem.there are service bulletins, but nothing is resolving this.oem not taking this as a serious safety issue.if something should occur, the vehicle's safety response service will not be able to do anything for occupants of the vehicle.it is very upsetting that the oem has not fixed a software issue and will not allow the dealership to replace the radio with one that actually provides the proper connection to emergency services.this is a defect in the product that the oem has had over 18 months to fix since this vehicle was manufactured.
After turning on the ignition and putting car into reverse the reverse light flashes and car will not go into reverse, same for putting into drive. Engine light stays on. This problem only lasts for a few seconds and then the car can go into reverse. I brought it into the dealer they had it for 4 days and could only recreate the problem once. It has happened to me twice prior to bringing it into the dealer. The dealer could not find any electrical or engine issues. I was told to bring it home and when it lasted to longer then to notify them. Very disconcerting!! have to wait until i cannot drive the car!
Component malfunctioned: 8.4" center display, it is available to inspect and there are many other vehicles with the same issue. The digitizer on the display is coming unglued (due to heat), it is causing the touchscreen to do things on its own like change the time, call people, switch radio stations.safety at risk: while it may not seem like a safety issue outright, when those phantom touches happen is very distracting to the driver. In addition, after reading about other cases where the delamination is even worse, the glue that is essentially melting has been seen to start dripping on other components and wiring inside the center stack, like air conditioning and parking sensor control and traction control button. Reproduced: this is a very well-known issue within the jeep/fca family of vehicles. I called their customer service and they were 100% aware, they were ready with a replacement option right away but at my cost. This is a manufacture defect and should be covered by fca. I live in cleveland, oh, the hottest it has gotten here is 90 degrees, this screen should have been tested well beyond that temp. If the glue is melting in this weather, it needs to be replaced as a recall.inspected: no, but i will give it to anyone to inspect. Mine is not as bad as others i have seen but i would like to get is replaced before it becomes an even bigger safety issue. Warnings: no, the car itself does not realize anything is wrong, it thinks that a human being is touching the screen, so it is doing the commands it is given.
Vehicle exhibited sudden unintended acceleration on two separate occasions, and caused an accident involving property damage.the vehicle, which had been on cruise control, was completely stopped in traffic for 30-45 seconds on i-95 in south carolina.the car suddenly surged forward while the driver yelled at me 'my foot is on the brake'.it subsided once, then surged ahead again, leaving skid marks and colliding with the vehicle in front of us.it then surged a third time, ploughing that car ahead, before the driver could shift the transmission into park
For the past 2 weeks my radio changes stations back and forth, the air conditioner goes high to low real fast but today really scared me i put on my blinker to turn left and it started switching right to left and the car behind me was fixing to go around me on the right side and when it switched to the right it scared him and he slammed on his breaks and the car behind him almost hit him.also, sometimes when i put it in reverse it kinda jumps into reverse.the back arch hasn't been wanting to close either when i push the buttonall of the thugs happen while just starting it to going anywhere
Vehicle is equipped with the 8.4 inch uconnect/nav 4c touch screen. This system/screen controls the radio, climate control, heated/cooled seats, phone, navigation, etc. After driving the vehicle for 20-30 minutes using only the radio, the touch screen becomes hot to the touch.recently the screen reached 127.7 degrees (see attached picture). Vehicle was brought to the dealer on 7/30/18 and the issue was escalated up to fiat chrysler automobiles.fca claims the components are operating as designed. This does not seem correct.excessively high temperatures can compromise the electronics in the dash and could lead to electrical failures and possible fire. I would appreciate nhtsa looking into this before there is a fire or possible injury.
Electrical system malfunctioned while driving on a city street, dashboard lit up and the vehicle would not switch gears.wipers started going and message popped up on the screen to not turn the vehicle off because it may not restart.when the vehicle was turned off it would not restart and it was stuck in the run position.vehicle was towed to the dealership, they stated the vehicle over fifty codes and they did not know what was wrong with it.the dealership had the vehicle for well over a month and had to reach out the chrysler for additional assistance.eventually the dealership stated a sensor had become loose and that had caused all the problems.i received the vehicle back and within a week i was having problems again.while stopped at a traffic light a message popped up that the shifter was malfunctioning, this message came and went multiple times.a few days later the vehicle would not start, i had the vehicle towed to the dealership.they stated they could not replicate the problem and i received the vehicle back the next day.the following day while driving from work the dashboard lit up again and the same initial issue happened all over again.the vehicle was towed to the dealership again, once again they have no idea what has happened.they have been in possession of my vehicle for another month with no solution.chrysler has informed the dealership to perform a pin drag test, this test supposedly involves checking every wire and code on the vehicle one at a time.as of todays date i still have not received my vehicle back.
Infotainment system keeps rebooting, goes into boot mode even while driving. Caused total distraction to the driver while driving with sudden full blast of air condition or volume going up and down without control. This is a full safety issue as at one point my daughter was driving and the speedometer went totally blank at night.all problems gradually started in october 2020. In the latest safety related issue the jeep was no longer drivable as the infotainment system was draining the battery. The jeep had to be jumped started multiple times during the day and got stranded on the side of the road.
The vehicle is brand new and a few months after purchasing it the vehicle would shut down electrically (twice while driving) and the steering wheel and brakes would lock up.since purchasing the vehicle in november of 2017 i have had 4 to 5 separate occasions where the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership in jeep/chrysler in libertyville, illinois.i made verbal complaints after the second and third time.i was told after the last issue the problem was resolved and no more issues would occur, about 10 months later the issue has occured once again for a fourth time.i have son that i pick up on the weekends which requires me to drive on the highway.my fear is that the electrical will go out and my son will be hurt in a car accident due to the steering and brakes locking and no way to stop the vehicle safely.the occasion where is was driving the vehicle starting going haywire, the dash lights were flickering and different signs were coming on and the brakes became very hard to press until i couldnt any longer and the steering became really hard to move until it eventually locked as well.on 9 april 2019, the last of the few issues that has happened to this vehicle it was stationary and it wouldnt start and the electrical started acting up with the dashboard giving me the same messages from the last few times that the situation had occurred.
Have owned the vehicle for a little more than a year. Three times i've heard gear grinding when i put the vehicle in reverse, i immediately put my foot on the brake put the vehicle back into park waited a few seconds with my foot on the brake before putting the vehicle in reverse again. Took the vehicle to the dealership to be looked at (checked out) but because they couldn't get the vehicle to grind gears in reverse they said there was nothing they could do and had me pick up my vehicle.also while driving it on one occasion i smelled a smell ofelectrical burning. Unknown where it is coming from on my vehicle. I'm getting fearful of driving it.
The vehicle was stopped and placed into park with the engine running. I exited the car and it accelerated in reverse in a fast speed and struck a parked vehicle. I was caught behind the open door in panic and was very fortunate that i was not knocked down and run over by the wheels.i am adamant that the transmission was placed into park and not in reverse. I was shocked at how fast the car was traveling. The incident was witnessed by my husband and my brother in law. My husband later talked to a man that was nearby and was told that he had the exact same car and year and that the same thing happened to him. An investigator was sent out and determined that there was a faulty part in the vehicle. The man lived in the state of colorado which is where it happened. My husband forgot to get his name. This happened in an rv park on flat terrain, private property.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the battery overcharged while the vehicle was driven. The contact was also unable to cancel the cruise control function which caused the vehicle to independently accelerate on several occasions with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to five star chrysler dodge jeep ram of warner robins located at (2817 watson blvd, warner robins, ga 31088) where the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). The contact stated that the failure recurred after the software update was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,000.
The contact owns 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated while vehicle was stationary, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact attempted to restart with battery charger, which caused the vehicle outer rim headlights to illuminate but failed to restart. The contact stated he feels unsafe in vehicle due to the location of the battery under the passenger seat. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated an unknown dealer was contacted however, no assistance was offered. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,990.
Vehicle stalls while being driven is the most serious issueac works sporadically. Door lock unlock sporadically will not work stationarydangerous issue is the vehicle stalling out while being driven on highways
I have only owned the vehicle for 5 months.when filling the gas tank on several different occasions at several different pumps, the pump stops like the tank is full even though i just started pumping.also randomly the backup camera does not display and then the entire infotainment system shuts down and restarts while going down the road or while in reverse
After wide open throttle acceleration, vehicle continues to accelerate even after letting off of throttle. Had to immediately depress brake to its maximum capacity to slow/stall the unintended rapid acceleration.it has duplicated this behavior twice in the last 100 miles. The jeep also indicates an error message regarding electronic throttle control error. Once again uncontrolled rapid acceleration after wot!
Dash and radio shut off while driving on the freeway
Screen doesn't work correctly the screen start to do crazy this i wish was able to post the video of it acting up i when to the dealership while under warranty and they was willing to fix it at my expense which isnā€™t fair i shouldnā€™t have to spend over 2,000 dollars to replace a radio that is defective itā€™s embarrassing to have others in my vehicle while driving down the road and the radio start to act up
Not a safety issue, but a extremely frustrating and widespread issue.fm radio signal issues.fm radio cuts in and out.i found a forum with dozens of other owners who had the same issue.radio works fine for xm/sirius and am.seeking through fm stations, the radio doesn't find any signals strong enough to stop on.i'm in an area with strong fm stations and have never had issues on other radios in any of my vehicles.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the front dashboard panel developed a bubble. The bubble started at the top of the dashboard and traveled to the middle of the dashboard. The bubble caused certain features to switch on and off independently like the radio, the air condition, the navigation system, and the defroster. The contact was unable to see out of the windshield while driving and pulled over because the defroster was inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to love chrysler dodge jeep llc (1259 e main st., alice, tx 78332, (361) 356-7928) and was informed by the dealer that the warranty had expired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.
See note to insurance companyi received my 2018 jeep back yesterday 7/10/19 after months of waiting for farmers to regain possession after stolen and recovered in mexico and repairs to be done. I drove the car home from bumper to bumper last night. When i tried to drive the car home from the gym today the window on the passenger side stating going up and down by itself.i was going 45 miles an hour. When i tried to stop it with the switch the transmission locked up and all power died.the car skidded 10-15 feet toward a intersection. I almost went through the windshield. Lucky i am strong enough to stop myself. I am requesting you that youtotal this vehicle return my down payment and make payment to chrysler in arrears.this vehicle isunsafe.
Here are times when i have pulled out (with various people in the car) most recently my 13 year-old-son, who was screaming, "dad what are you doing, we are about to be hit," and the car has completelyshut down. (no interior lights, or running engine)quick thinking saved us from a major disaster.we were almost t-boned last week because of this problem.this would not be the first timefor this problem.problem #3:while driving, i pulled out from my street, a red light or parking lot and the transmission did not engage, the engine revved (without moving) and again, i was almost t-boned.it happened again this morning. Problem #4:there are times when i am traveling up or downhill, the transmission will wind out, the tachometer will spike and then the jeep makes a knocking noise and then i can continue.you could drive the car for months and then all of a sudden it happens.problem #5:i was backing into my driveway, the back up camera stopped working and my jeep completely shut down. This happens on more than one occasion and has no precursor to when it is going to happen.
While in motion the display will freeze, and remain on and frozen even when vehicle is put in reverse, and after the vehicle is turned off, and turned on again. The last screen it was on remains. This has happened on multiple occasions last time was november of 2019, it recently happened in august 2020.
My daughter has been driving down the road and the radio station begins changing sporadically and the telephone starts calling multiple people in a row causing her to have to pull over and shut everything off, include the jeep to get it to stop.daytona dodge service person told her the stereo was "delaminated" and told my daughter this was a common problem from what i understand.no help for daytona dodge and can't get anyone from chrysler to return numerous phone calls from my daughter, wife and i.the safety issue i have here is that this sporadic action of the radio happens while driving, causing multiple potentially hazardous conditions, especially at interstate speeds in traffic.my case number with chrysler is [xxx] and the phone number is [xxx].the number to daytona dodge is 386-274-0571 and the person of contact there is [xxx]. On top of this they tell me that i must pay a $155 diagnostic fee to tell me the radio is not working properly.not to mention the cost of the radio, installation and associated shop costs.the focus here is the safety issue.as a retired deputy sheriff, i have seen enough injuries and fatalities and this radio issue could be a contributing factor to more needless accidents.i understand this vehicle is out of warranty because of mileage but i don't believe a radio has an odometer and i have never seen a radio of any sort do what my daughter as told me this one does.thank you for your time.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The backup camera and radio system work when they feel like it.the backup camera is definitely a safety issue.the radio and navigation is may not be as important safety issues but for some people who do not have unlimited minutes they need the navigation to work all the time.i am more concerned about the system completely shorting out while driving causing an accident.
While driving my entire radio screen freezes, can't control temperature or radio. This happens sporadically while i am driving sometimes every 2 minutes. It is very distracting and i am afraid it is going to cause a electrical fire. This can happen immediately after the car stops and the backup camera freezes or it can happen while the car is in motion driving. I have not contacted the dealership yet because 2 other vehicles i have are getting recalls repaired. This screen controls everything in the vehicle and should be repaired or replaced if it has issues. I plan to call the dealership in the next two weeks.
Radio goes out of control. Changes stations by its self and the volume goes up and down on its own as well. Additionally, i'm unable to connect the bluetooth system. This happens when the vehicle is either parked or moving. Taken my vehicle to the dealership twice without resolution.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the u-connect system failed as the radio and bluetooth randomly disengage with a loud noise. The contact also stated that the front passenger's and driver's side seat warmer would inadvertently engage. The vehicle was taken bluebonnet jeep (283 ih 35 east, new braunfels, tx 78130) where the failure was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the u-connect system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the warranty being expired. The manufacturer was notified of failure and confirmed that the warranty was expired and that any repairs would be at the owners expense. The approximate failure mileage was 38,750.
While driving a message of service shifter displayed andvehicle went like on park mode but in d shift.car was in motion and became stationary. Shift lights came on. All wheels were locked, service engine light on. Turning car off and back on didn't help. I was unable to move the shift from d to any other shift.it was very scary as i was on heavy traffic road, unable to move the car in the middle lane during work rush hour.it had to be towed to the dealer, tow guy had issues getting into the flat bed as the wheels were fully locked. Awaiting a diagnosis.
Radio signal comes a goes very randomly. Volume fluctuates for no reason. Car and be started and radio will be fine and next it wont work at all with all static.this has been happening since we purchased the car a year ago.
Unconnect system in my 2018 jeep grand cherokee overland turns off and on by itself ever 60 seconds whether you are driving or stationary. I believe it started this morning or last night. You cannot use bluetooth, the heat or the radio. I called the dealership where i purchased the vehicle less than 1 month ago and they said i was the 6th report today and the vehicles in their lot were doing it as well. They stated that the unconnect system might have been hacked.
Brand new grand cherokee, only 400 miles, today my backup camera stopped working. On the display i have an icon "backup camera" when attempting to click this the backup camera would not pop-up. Turned the car off and kept it off for 10 minutes, re-started the car, the jeep display does not pop-up with the safety notification and the backup camera does not come on the screen when the car is placed in reverse. It was working fine the last week and a half and all of a sudden this morning it will not work. I called jeep and they are unsure what it is and may be a software update. I just paid $60,000 dollars and have had the car for 6 days and the backup camera is not working now!
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle will disable a message was displayed and the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and was diagnosed that the battery and fuse block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While driving 35 mph uphill, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle traveled across the highway and crashed into an embankment. The abs and skid control indicators illuminated. The front passenger and driver side air bags deployed. The contact sustained rib injuries, which did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (crowe auto group, llc, 303 tenney st, kewanee, il 61443, (309) 852-2188) where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger wheel was corroded. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,558.
My 2018 jcg altitude edition with 16000 miles has been having issues with radio and navigation. Cjdr replaced stereo system which fixed the navigation issue but now radio turns up and down on own. Took car in today and there is no fix. They told me when it occurs to turn my car off and then back on which will help it temporarily. The period of which it will help is less than 1 minute before it repeats the volume issue. However this is not acceptable. Vehicle has been shifting very hard and lunging forward without foot on gas, they 're-flashed' my jeep twice. Saying my car needed to relearn my driving. I was told by my service technician that he would call when they had some solution.

While driving around a curve, steering control went out and traction control kicked on. This caused an inability to properly control the vehicle. Traction control pulled vehicle into the side of the road and caused a minor accident.
I have problem and i need to know about this vehicle
The vehicle nav display shuts down and then the car won't start.i have been in traffic when this has happened twice so far.in both cases the car was stationary.once on a highway and once on a city street.the latest time this happened was 6/11/19 at 7:29 pm.additionally the nav screen has shut down as follows6/12/19 12:14 pm6/26/19 3:51 pm'6/28/19 10:13 pm7/1/19 8:22 am7/10/19 1:57 pm7/11/19 9:42 am7/18/19 3:10 pm7/19/19 9:02 am
2018 jeep grand cherokee trackhawk throttle stuck open and began accelerating after removing foot from gas pedal. This issue is not related to the floor mat recall as i have already had the recall performed on the vehicle by the dealership. This could have caused a serious injury or death. I had to press the ignition to turn the power off and slam hard on the brakes to stop the vehicle from continuing to accelerate.
I am the owner of a 2018 jeep grand cherokeelimited.i was transporting my daughter to school on january 28, 2020 travelling at a speed of 45-50mph.a message appeared on my dashboard prompting me to put the vehicle in park and push start/stop.my vehicle begin to stall and just as it was slowing down abruptly shut off in the middle of traffic.when i attempted to restart the vehicle, the vehicle would not start.i was left sitting in traffic fearing for me and my daughter's life as cars continue to drive pass at high speed or driving closing behind my vehicle before realizing that we were at a standstill.i attempted to restart the vehicle and it did not start.i called my automobile insurer who connected me with a tow company to have the vehicle transported to the car dealer for a diagnostic check.based on the diagnostic review, i was advised that my 2018 jeep cherokee has a failed ac compressor which caused the starter to fail internally and my water pump is leaking.my car was just taken to the dealership for the recommended service on january 2, 2020.it seems to me that some of this could have been detected during the scheduled maintenance since the report indicates that a full inspection was performed.during the scheduled maintenance service on january 2, i got an oil change and the air filter was replaced.after reading the other reviews i am fearful for my life now while driving this vehicle knowing that it could stop anytime and anywhere.out of safety precautions i thought it would be beneficial to post this as a safety problem god forbid anything happens in the future.
The jeep will restart after pushing the start/stop button. The rpm gauge will drop to 0 and then it will restart again and all the lights on the dash come on again like when you first start it. Sometimes it's right away and sometimes it takes sometime. I have had it in the dealership and they couldn't replicate the issue. There has been numerous times that it has restared and ran for a few hours in a parking deck. I am worried that if i park it in the garage the carbon monoxide might poison our family.*dt

After having my jeep brand new from the dealer roughly about two weeks after purchasing the check engine light turned on. We bought our jeep from autonation in spring, tx. We live in galveston county so when it turned on we took it to autozone for the free code check - the code read was p20e8 and it just said emissions code. No specific readout was available for the code detected. The exact jeep we own is a 2018 jeep grand cherokee serling edition ecodiesel. We did notice that the def fluid was not properly filled to the full level upon the purchase so figured it could in relation to that. We drove back up to spring to the dealer and told them the issue and they said ok got us in a rental and then would call us as soon as it was ready. Once we picked it up it we asked what was the cause for the code and the technician said 'oh well it was nothing - just something that we forgot to turn off'. On the way home the check engine light again comes back on the dash. We stop by another jeep dealer in the way home and inquired with them what they thought it might be and they said 'that whatever the dealership told you cannot be true'. Then bill or service or receipt said check engine light p20e8 was found def pump low pressure fault is stored, found tank low with less than 2 inches of fluid in take, found vehicle was not topped off when purchased, added def to tank and cleared codes and verified proper def fluid pressures at injector. The light remains on two days later and now a message pops on my dash and said 'def system problems see dealer'. Normally i would not be so upset but this a brand new car the dealer (not mentioned) was not exactly helpful dropping off or receiving the vehicle back with any kind of helpful information. I love my car and just want to make sure it can be properly fixed so i hopefully do not have to worry about my safetyor the integrity of my car.
Vehicle shut off /stalled while pulling away from an intersection on a local road (vehicle was in motion).the vehicle finally started after the "push-button" was pressed 3 times
On 5/14/21 stop/start switch - engine stalling while driving while on turnpike 65 mph. Situation could have turned to an accident easily. Afterwards engine started with warning light to service s/s-switch. No previous issues with the car (26,000 miles). After stop at the rest area, engine started normallyand no warning light. Currently waiting for a service appointment to dealership
The upshifter paddle driver control on my jeep srt trackhawk, along with many other 2010+ fca vehicles equipped with paddle shifters, performs the opposite function (downshifting) when vehicle is in motion- causing the gears to lower one or more, the engine to rev up, the engine to engine-brake, and ultimately the weight of the vehicle to shift aggressively to the front unintentionally.
As im driving, the car complete dies on me, no power, no brakes, no steering, nothing is working, this is the 3rd time this is happening, im not safe in this car, i drive my kids,
We have experienced2 separate episodes of this vehicle suddenly becoming disabled with complete engine shutdown while driving at highway speeds. Both episodes occurred abruptly, engine idling extremely rough, then shutting down within seconds, leaving the car completely inoperable. Both episodes were very dangerous as the car could barely coast to the shoulder of the highway for safety of the passengers. The first episode occurred when the car was a few months old, gas gauge showing over 1/4 tank of diesel gas.car was towed to the jeep dealership where they claimed that the car simply ran out of diesel (despite the gas gauge indication) no repair "was required", car filled with several gallons of diesel and obd codes reset by the dealer, car then ran normally . The second episode occurred one week ago. Again driving at highway speed, 5 lane highway, over 1/4 of diesel remaining on the gauge, sudden violent engine running, suddenfull loss of function of the vehicle, nearly in an accident simply trying to " limp " to an emergency stop on the road shoulder. Car required towing to our residence. With the prior experience at the jeep dealer, despite gauge reading of greater 1/4 tank, the car was filled with 5 gallons of diesel, car started normally. All obd fault codes insufficient fuel to the engine, fuel rail, fuel pressure, etc. The car has run normally since. I contacted my jeep dealership and they stated they have no knowledge of any similar issues with this jeep diesel engine.the internet and jeep car forums are filled with identical diesel engine problems. Either related to faulty fuel pressure regulation or some design fault with fuel level indication affecting the safe operation of this jeep diesel engine. These problems date back to pre 2008. We now feel very unsafe to drive this relatively new 2018 jeep diesel grand cherokee at highway speeds without hovering near the shoulder lane of the road.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle restarted and was taken to fields chrysler jeep dodge ram glenview (2800 patriot blvd, glenview, il 60026) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the egr cooler had been replaced twice. The contact then received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v699000 (engine and engine cooling) a year after experiencing the engine failure. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the part was not yet available for the recall repair.the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that he was worried that the failure would recur. The failure mileage was 10,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving around a curve, steering control went out and traction control kicked on. This caused an inability to properly control the vehicle. Traction control pulled vehicle into the side of the road and caused a minor accident.
On 3/11 and 5/32019,my vehicle without warning and in gear surged out of control crashing into a parked car the first time and hitting a telephone pole the second time.despite my foot on the brake pedal, i could not get it to stop.it finally came to a stop after hitting the neighbor's vehicle and telephone pole causing significant body damage on both occasions to my jeep.thankfully no injuries but i no longer have confidence that this vehicle is safe to drive.

This vehicle lacks any kind of utility for positive engine shutoff confirmation, and/or a warning indicator when the key fob is separated from the vehicle. It is very easy to accidentally park and exit this vehicle and leave it running. It has happened to me four times in the 18 months that i've owned it. Two of these times the engine was left on while parked for more than an hour. This is obviously a huge safety and emissions issue.specifically, because no key removal is necessary, it is easy to push the button to turn off the radio and subconsciously believe that you've turned off the vehicle. Car engines are very quiet now, and when exiting where there is even nominal ambient noise, you may not hear the vehicle running.at minimum, i believe the key fob should have a sensor to know when it is more than say 20' away from a running vehicle and it should warn you with loud audible alarm. A secondary option would be to have a mobile app or network connected service that could send a text or email that the vehicle has been idling in one place for more than xx minutes.
My 2018 jeep grand cherokee just accelerated by itself up a sidewalk at a parking lot and ran into the pillar of a building. I then put it in reverse and it accelerated into a car parked beside me. The front axle snapped completely even though the impact was not tremendous. The air bag did not deploy. This vehicle has all kinds of impact sensors and usually brakes on its own even when it senses a leaf from a nearby bush and none of that worked. This happened just yesterday and i'm at a loss as to what to do. I cannot believe my internet search has yielded so many similar stories! *dt *dt *dt
Had several issues with this rented vehicle still running after pushing button to stop vehicle when parked.family members told me 'your car is still on' at least 3 times. Had issues when stopped at an intersection.the vehicle seemed to die & was very delayed when starting to go again-required more pressure on gas pedal than usual.had issues while filling the vehicle with fuel. Several times the pump would cut off (approximately 10 times) indicating that the tank was full when i knew it wasn't.had a severe issue resulting in damage to the vehicle & the aloha island mart at 50 pakaula st. Kahului, hi 96732 gas pump. I stopped to fuel up in order to return the rental vehicle to budget rental car (865 w mokuea pl, kahului, hi, 96732), i put the vehicle in park, pushed the button to stop the vehicle to turn off the motor. Exited the vehicle to get the credit card out of my purse which was in the back on the floor board in a beach bag i saw that the vehicle was rolling back. There was no slope to the parking lot, it was level ground.i jumped back in the vehicle with left foot outside the vehicle and put my foot on the brake to stop it, it went out of control backwards. Thankfully i got my left foot in and had to use both feet on the break to stop the vehicle. Put the vehicle in park & turned it off again.the door & driver front quarter panel sustained severe damage from hitting the gas pump which also received damage. Although the pump was in workable condition once the vehicle finally started & was moved.this could have resulted in severe bodily damage to myself as well as more vehicle & bodily damage if someone had been behind me at the next pump.needless to say i was terrified, shaking uncontrollably & the thought of what could have happened. After reading the complaints & recalls on the jeep grand cherokee i feel this one should be added.
Sudden unintended acceleration of my jeep grand cherokee leads to total loss on on march 30 , 2018. This is my story: i bought my jeep grand cherokee 2018 trailhawk from the orange park chrysler, jeep, dodge, ram dealership aka darscars of jacksonville at 7233 blanding blvd (904) 777-5500 on october 21, 2017 under a three year lease agreement with ally auto finance (1-888) 925-2559.on march 30, 2018 with approximately 3700 miles i was at the gateway pistol and rifle range at in jacksonville with my friend charlie for pistol shooting. My car was parked outside of one of the steel sheds. When rain started we decided to drive my car around and under the shed. I took the car around but couldn't quite make it into the shed and had to back up. When shifting into reverse i heard a strange noise and my friend told me later that my rear wheeles started spinning, which they are not supposed to do. When my car was in the right position my foot was still on the break i shifted to "drive". At this moment the engine roared up and raced forward. I could not stop the car. I steered it into the next empty shooting bay in 1/2 circle into the backstop ending up at the wall which was damaged in the process. All front and side airbags were deployed. It was an absolutely horrifying experience. It was plain luck that nobody was hurt. The car is presently in the hands of my insurer aaa who declared the car a total loss. I believe this is an obvious case of product liability for which the manufacturer should be held responsible! i found out yesterday that there is a special phone number for chrysler customer care in charge of lemon car issues 1-844-521-8188. My complaint has a case number 33880270.
Evaporative emission system incorrect purge flow for a predetermined period of time. Engine light is on.brought car new.
While driving on the road the engine shuts completely off right in the middle of traffic which is extremely dangerous!!!...message displays on the screen where the speedometer is "shift to p to start". It has happened 3x yesterday and about a week ago once. Took to jeep dealer yesterday and they are still investigating the issue.
Engine stop/start feature causes engine to stop/start upon shifting from drive to park, can cause driver to exit vehicle with engine still running
I drove this vehicle to work and parked it in a parking structure at 8:00 in the morning.by 4:00 in the afternoon, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.the vehicle sat all day in the structure.unknown as to why it caught fire, but the fire originated somewhere in the engine compartment.i took delivery of this vehicle 8 days before this happened and it only had approximately 300 miles on it.*dt
Complained of an oil leak(oil marks on the garage floor and cardboard place to verify) prior to 7500 miles. Dealership unable to find the oil leak the first time. Took it back 1 week later to complain about an oil leak. Dealership placed dye into oil to find the leak. Leak was found to be the seal between the engine and transmission. When dealership went to replace seal, they stated the block was cracked due to "being machined during the assembly". Now waiting for a new engine to be replaced on a new vehicle of 4 months. Ouch!
Vehicle losing coolant due to faulty water pump.under normal driving conditions, the water pump does not hold up to normal vibration and use. I have taken it to a repair shop and they notified me that the water pump was back ordered and we were number 300 in line for a replacement.it is hard to believe that 300 people are waiting for the same water pump if there is not an issue.that is not including the number of stock that jeep has already sold to be in back order.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the water pump was leaking and the vehicle was unable to be driven. In addition, the check engine and esc warning indicators were illuminated. The vehicle was taken tosouth chicago dodge chrysler jeep (7340 s western ave, chicago, il 60636, (773) 476-7800) where it was diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 64535122. The contact was referred to the dealer. The failure mileage was 67,670.
Uconnect message came up stating that my engine light came on when all actuality it was not, however, i noticed my vents blowing out cool air when i had on the heat. My car was in motion i was driving down a city street.
61,000 broken water pump and blown head gasket
When stopped at a light car stalled, start stop pressed after car places in park and car ran. Automatic off error lit up on screen in yellow and remained on despite turning off automatic off. Then when came to another stop at a drive through, car was placed in park and the car again wouldn't take off after returning to drive until stop start was pressed again even though auto off was still turned off.
This suv has the energy efficient shutdown/restart feature.after being stopped at a traffic light, i re-engaged the engine/transmission by lifting my foot off of the brake and began pressing the accelerator.there was very little power to accelerate, you could hear the grinding and pulling of the engine/transmission but only a little power.i put on the emergency hazard lights, looked around the dash for messages and verified that the gear was indeed in drive.i continued to press the accelerator to move the truck out of traffic. I made it to a driveway where i could pull off of the main street and not block the morning rush hour traffic.i put the truck in park, looked at everything again (no warnings or error messages) and put the truck in gear and it moved as it was supposed to do.i made it back to the street, went a short distance (less than 2 blocks), started to go up a small hill and the no power issue happened again.i was less than a block away from my destination, so i s-l-o-w-l-y made it to the top of the hill.i parked in my office's garage, reported to work and contemplated what to do.i have had this truck since the end of june and it has only 1,100 miles.i will be dropping it off/towing it in to the dealer repair shop tomorrow.this is dangerous and not acceptable jeep!
Issue with automatic start/stop light turning on, which then leads to engine light being on. Happens when driving, and when the light turns on and alarm sounds it causes vehicle to shift which jerks the vehicle. It has been an ongoing issue and has been brought to the dealer 4 different times, several parts fixed, and i am still having the issue

Driving the auto and applied the brakes at a red light and the brakes only partially engaged and the auto went through the red light. Drove up to the next light as the car was just about to stop it accelerated forward into the truck in front of me. There is a safety feature called "forward collision warning" which should apply the brakes and did not work (instead of brakingwith the jeep safety feature the auto accelerated). The dealer repaired the damage paid by my insurance company but could not tell me why this happened or provide assurance that it would not happen again. The insurance company said they would investigate with the ntsb and review the "black box". If the truck was not in front of our vehicle we would have gone through the red light into a highway intersection. The car had slowed to 5 mph and was ten feet from auto in front and then accelerated to about 15 mph in a few seconds.
While using the acc function and setting forward distance at any length the problem is that when the car in front of you slows, stops,,or turns my vehicle will brake on its own.however, while braking during the mentioned operation the big problem is that the brake lights do not illuminate. I have had several close calls with someone nearly running into the back of my vehicle during the use of the adaptive cruise control (acc). This can be extremely dangerous if you are now fully aware of this problem.this should have been addressed during the acc hazardous examination phase. A very simple fix would be to install an i/p switch in the brake line at the master cylinder so that the pressure from the acc applying the brakes sends the pneumatic signal to an electrical signal that lights up the brake lights. This problem should absolutely have been caught and addressed during the design phase.i found out when i asked a service manager about it and he said the lights do not come on. He also said they know about it.
After starting my car i went in my house to get something. My car slipped into reverse and rolled down my lawn across a busy street and hit a tree. The emergency braking system did not engage. I was able to drive the car back to where it was parked. I then tested to see if i could have accidentally put the car in reverse when i got out it. It began to roll in reverse and i wasn't touching the gas. I could not have gotten of the car if were in reverse because it would have been rolling. Apparently when the car is in a parked position it can slip into reverse.

I have only owned the vehicle for 5 months.when filling the gas tank on several different occasions at several different pumps, the pump stops like the tank is full even though i just started pumping.also randomly the backup camera does not display and then the entire infotainment system shuts down and restarts while going down the road or while in reverse
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle lunged forward, the electronic throttle control indicator illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was coasted safely off the roadway. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. On the first occasion, the vehicle was towed to lee chrysler jeep dodge ram (765 center st, auburn, me 04210) where it was diagnosed. Additonally, after a second failure, the vehicle was towed to herb chambers chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of millbury (2 latti farm rd rte. 20, millbury, ma 01527), but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to autostar chrysler dodge jeep ram of hendersonville (401 duncan hill rd, hendersonville, nc 28792) to be inspected; however, no failures were discovered. After an additional failure, the vehicle was towed to danbury chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat (100b federal rd, danbury, ct 06810) where the contact was informed that the high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was refueling the vehicle, fuel sprayed back out forcefully into her face. The contact's wife was transported by ambulance for facial and upper body burns due to the fuel. The contact was unaware of a police report being filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (croton auto park 1 municipal pl, croton-on-hudson, ny 10520 (914) 271-5100) where it was diagnosed that the fuel filler needed replacement. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently at the dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000.
At a gas station, with the engine turned off. On 3 different occasions, when filling up my gas tank, when i start pumping gas, the tank stops taking gas as if the tank is full. In order to continue filling the gas tank, i have to hold the gas hose handle in a specific position to allow the gas to fill the tank without stopping. Results in filling the tank at a very slow pace. Unsure if there is a sensor issue within the gas tank itself. Occurs randomly.
Capless fuel filler assembly on 2018 jeep grand cherokee limited does not allow a standard gas pump to fill tank in a "normal" manner when vehicle is parked at a gas station pump and is turned off. User has to hold pump handle gently in order to dispense fuel. Took my vehicle in for diagnostic service and was told the fuel filler assembly had to be replaced at a cost to me of $316.00 plus sales tax, as well as a $98 diagnostic fee, as my vehicle is out of the 36,000 mile warranty period. I have read on several internet sites that models of jeeps and dodge durango have the same issue. I feel that this should be a recall for a faulty part for this model year. I have been driving for 27 years and have owned 3 other jeep grand cherokees, a honda civic, and a kia sorento and have never had this problem with any other vehicle. I also travel frequently for work and have driven numerous models of vehicles as rentals and have never encountered this issue.
Every time i go to pump gas in the car, the pump will stop as if it's full. I have brought the car to 495 chrysler, jeep, and dodge in lowell, ma 5 times now and they fixed it once and it was fine. Then a few months later it started doing the same issue again. They say it's the gas stations and that i have to look for certain pumps, etc. I go to the same pump and gas station each time and when it doesn't work i have to drive around testing gas stations to see which will work. My car will stay at the dealership for 3-4 days just for them to say that it's the gas stations fault and not theirs. The first time this happened the mileage was at 5298 and now it is currently at 14,124 with only 1 year and 2 months of use. I currently have a claim with chrysler as of right now.

I have a few occurrences to tell about. 1. When taking it through a drive through car wash it was propelled forward at an unsafe speed.the vehicle was in neutral but still was shot forward and the brakes had to be applied quickly. This happened twice. 2. After coming off a freeway and coming to the first stoplight, when the speedometer hit 0 the vehicle lurched forward. I turned the auto stop off and proceed down the road.when i hit the next stoplight, it did the same thing, lurched forward hard, when the speedometer hit 0.3. While getting up to speed, 70, on a freeway, the vehicle seemed to "miss" gears and it lurched a few times. 4. When approaching a turn, at slow a very slow speed, i tapped the gas for a little more speed and it propelled me forward hard and i had to hit the brakes.5. In the first week of ownership an alert popped up on the center screen indicating the control panel had detected a problem with the catalytic converter system and it was a fire hazard.after taking it to the dealer they told me they could not find this in the computer memory anywhere and there was nothing wrong. At times i feel very unsafe in this vehicle and the whole reason i bought it is to feel safe and secure.right now the vehicle has less than 1,000 miles on it.

Unable to fill with fuel. Jeep is blaming the gas pumps. 4,000 miles on vehicle. Jeep has advised turning the pump handle which eliminates the fuel cut off and causes gas to spill. This is extremely unsafe.
*dt *dt *dt
Transmission problems. The transmission shifts are pronounced, cause the suv to jerk and feel jumpy. This condition is sporadic, and can change based on mode - normal, eco off, sport . Besides causing a choppy ride, the condition is unacceptable and may be a r a precursor to gear failure.
When i try to put gas into my tank, the pump cuts off. It takes five minutes to get $16 worth of gas! it's getting worse. I've tried different pumps, different gas stations nothing helps. The dealer claims to know nothing about it. Today, the gas was spit back out! so i have shoes and feet soaked in gas! it is a capless gas tank.
While trying to pump gas, the pump would pop closed as if the gas tank was full when in actuality it had only just started to pump. It would continue to do that even after adjusting how the pump sat in the tank. It took roughly 15 minutes to pump a couple gallons of gas. The car has now done this twice at different pumps at different gas stations.
I have a "no start" issue. When the ignition button is pushed to start the vehicle, the starter turns, but the engine does not crank. There are times when it may take up to 10 seconds or so to get the starter to turn off. This is an intermittent problem, but is getting more frequent.
I have a reoccurring problem filling up my gas tank. More often than not, i cannot fill the tank.if the tank is on ā€eā€¯, i can usually only put approximately 8 gallons in my tank before it starts to spew out of the tank and into the overflow tank.i had a nightmare with this just a few days ago trying to put gas in my tank at royal farms on rt. 3. Gas flowed out of my tank yet my tank wasnā€™t full.i am sick of this problem and jeep needs to stand behind it. I want you to make this a recall. Itā€™s dangerous.if anyone at the gas pumps had been smoking, my entire car and the parking lot would have caught on fire.
When filling the gas tank, the gas pump clicks off constantly. It happens at multiple gas stations and with different style pump handles. I have to remove the gas pump from the tank and rotate it in order to put gas in my vehicle. I've taken it to the dealership twice for this issue since i bought the jeep new in 2018. It has been happening consistently and i've read about others having the same issue with the capless gas system in this particular model and year. The dealership does not know how to solve the issue, i fear that i will be in a position that i can not put gas in my vehicle due to this issue.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While driving 45 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to john hiester chrysler dodge jeep ram (940 n main st, lillington, nc 27546, (910) 893-8088), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,500.
When filling vehicle, pump will go for a couple seconds and stop, and then you have to hold the lever, and it still stops. I have been to several different gas stations, and have filled my jeep up at different levels of fueling with the same issue. The pump stops, you hold the level, it stops, and you have to hold the lever and go back and fourth after pump stops. This has been an issue since the day i bought it.
Dash and radio shut off while driving on the freeway
Car would not shift out of park and check engine light came on at same time. I was parked in the post office parking lot and this happened when i started it. Had it towed to dealer. I am told i need a new electronic shift module that is not covered under the power train warranty as fca does not consider it part of the power train.
After a cold start (even in warm weather), when shifting from 'park' to 'drive' the transmission shudders momentarily and shakes the whole vehicle. It does not do this when the engine is up to normal operating temp, or if you wait 10-15 seconds before putting it into drive. I have not had this problem with any other vehicles i've owned.
The contact leased a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle rolled away in reverse 5 minutes later and crashed into a neighbors vehicle. No air bags deployed. The dealer darcars chrysler dodge jeep ram of rockville, 755 rockville pike, rockville, md 20852,(301) 424-1700 was notified of the failure. The vehicle was to be towed to the dealer for further testing to determine the cause of the failure and the contact mentioned that they felt unsafe in the vehicle. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v280000 (power train) but the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

"takata recall" i notice one day i was driving my grand cherokee 2018,myhand brash against with a light touch to gear shifter slipinto neutral.while i'm on the highway moving.i never been in vehicle that you barley touch the gear box and this happen not good.
I pulled into my driveway and put the vehicle in park and as i got out it began rolling backwards.i tried to get turned around and back in or grab the emergency brake but the door knocked me down and the jeep drove backwards about 150feet and hit a tree. 3weeks for repairs and i heard about the cherokee recall for transmission issues and this seems like what happened to me.

2018 jeep grand cherokee.first day of ownership, service 4wd light appears.cycle ignition off and back on, light disappears.engaged 4 low to ensure system is working.when vehicle shifted to 4 low, service 4wd light appears again.also service stabilitrac, forward collision not available.car is stuck in 4 low and will not go to awd mode.car is basically stuck and will not drive outside of 4 low.cannot shift out of 4low or put transfer case in neutral.
I took my vehicle to earnhardt jeep in gilbert arizona for the w79 egr cooler recall and only the egr valve was replaced and not the egr cooler. The recall stated that the egr cooler could crack from thermal fatigue and a new egr cooler with thicker walls would be installed. This issue if the egr cooler cracks can cause coolent to go into the air engine intake and cause a fire. The valve does not have coolent going through it so i do not know how this can be a complete fix. The vehicle had the valve replaced 4-7-2021 and i returned the vehicle 5-5-2021 withe the mill light on with the same code. Car still in the shop. Fca says the current remedy is valve replacement and not the egr cooler. This does not seem logical and i need nhtsa help to resolve this issue so my wifes vehicle is not a future fire hazzard.
After driving into condo garage, i put transmission into park, with engine running, and opened door to exit vehicle - car started moving backwards - the surface is flat. I was partway out of the vehicle, hit the brake pedal but could not stop it before the open door impacted a concrete pillar incurring damage preventing door from being subsequently closed. If i had been further out of the car the result could have been far worse. The vehicle behavior was extra alarming because my experience prior was that the transmission tended to bounce back to park when selecting reverse. Also when in reverse - extra effort is required on the gas pedal to make the vehicle move. So here - not only did it seem to be in reverse despite my pushing to park - the vehicle was at idle speed which has previously not been sufficient for movement.
I have a "no start" issue. When the ignition button is pushed to start the vehicle, the starter turns, but the engine does not crank. There are times when it may take up to 10 seconds or so to get the starter to turn off. This is an intermittent problem, but is getting more frequent.
Parked vehicle in sloped parking lotleft vehicle running walked behind jeep with taligate lifted to remove wet items from jeep. Noticed the jeep was rolling backwards my quick reaction was to jump back in drivers seat to turn off car. While doing this the jeep pushed me backwards flat on my back and broke my t11 and t12 on 9-14-2019. This resulted in surgery and stress while not being able to work. I have researched this model of jeep and appears there was power train issues in 2017 and could be carried over into 2018 models. Please advise
Transmission problems.the transmission shifts are pronounced, cause the suv to jerk and feel jumpy.this condition is sporadic, and can change based on mode - normal, eco off, sport . Besides causing a choppy ride, the condition is concerning because some shifts that cause the vehicle to jerk are accompanied by a banging noise that may be a r a precursor to gear failure.
The contact's mother-in-law owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. While stationary, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five times to be diagnosed however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and was scheduled to be diagnosed again. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
Recall: u65/nhtsa 18v-332 just bought it and found a recall on v-6 jeep grand cherokee limited. I haven't driven yet.please send me the certificate to get it fixed.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While driving 30 mph and attempting to shift gears, the vehicle downshifted. The vehicle was taken multiple times to route 46 chrysler jeep dodge (located at 1655 us-46, little falls, nj 07424, (973) 339-7752), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 15,800.
Transmission doesn't always shift from low gear to next higher.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While waiting at a traffic light, the 'shift into park and select gear" message displayed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate afterwards. The contact turned off the engine twice. Upon restarting the vehicle, a gear could not be selected. When the vehicle was restarted a third time, it started normally and was able to shift into the drive gear. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. Driver seat is unable to move forward or back in motion or stationary.
While sitting in my jeep (parked) i reached into the back seat from the driver seat. The driver side headrest popped randomly. I looked up how to reset it and it appears this has been an issue since 2014 due to the plastic retention clips breaking at random. Seeing as how it is a safety measure to reduce injury when rear ended i feel as if this is something jeep should recall since this has been a reoccurring problem for almost 5 years.
Power driver seat adjusts forward while i am in motion. Dangerous driving condition occurs when i am crammed up against the steering wheel.at dealership x 2 with no resolution.they claim to have performed a memory and software reset.
The computer screen has delaminated causing computer system failure
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee.
As im driving, the car complete dies on me, no power, no brakes, no steering, nothing is working, this is the 3rd time this is happening, im not safe in this car, i drive my kids,
The vehicle becomes very unstable (eg, it wobbles ) when i step lightly on the break at speeds of 60 mph and above. Also, this vehicle has a high risk of rolling over (i lightly moved the steering wheel to avoid collision with a reckless driver that almost hits my car sideways on the highway, and the car lost control nearly rolling over. The vehicle was in motioned on florida's turnpike.
Scrapping/grinding coming from the wheels. Sounds like the disc rotor dust shield is rubbing against the rotor. I heard this is a known issue. Let's see what the service department says.
Parking my 2018 jeep grand cherokee laredo in a parking lot.my foot was on the break and i was getting ready to shift jeep into park when the jeep suddenlyaccelerated forward hitting a building.took jeep to dealership and they have been trying recreate this.i have opened a ticket chrysler/fiat and waiting for them to contact me.i am afraid to drive the jeep now.
The owner noticed the rotors looked worn or "gouged" on the rear brakes while washing it. He took it in to replace brake pads. Mechanic discovered that the entire rear braking system was not working. The calipers were "frozen", the pads were completely gone, and rotors had extensive wear and locked into place as well. The front brake rotors showed more wear due to working overtime with lack of rear brakes. Only sign of this prior was it was not slowing down when placed on cruise control, otherwise, front brakes were braking and no sounds were being emitted. Had to replace brake pads, rotors, and brake calipers. Unsure of how long it was in this condition. Only has 28,120 miles on it.
I was driving this vehicle on a city street at 33 mph.there was a car in the intersection running a red left in front of me.i appliedthe brakes and the vehicle stuttered 3x and then sped up out of control and launched me into the car that was in the intersection. There was a collision..
I purchased a 2018 jeep grand cherokee limited in september 2018. With barely 1,400 miles on it, the brakes failed when i was in bumper to bumper traffic for two straight hours on 287 in rockland county, ny.i had my foot on the brake as the road was closed due to a truck fire.suddenly the brake completely depressed to the floor and the car rolled into a mac truck.i had front end damage in the amount of $1,100, which i paid for myself; and, no one was injured, thank god.jeep would not even give me permission to rent a car in the interim.i called over 25 times and couldn't get past first line customer service.the engineer came and did a very quick inspection of this car.he claims that he didn't find anything wrong with it; but, i know what happened.the car was towed to and from the service shop as i am petrified to drive it.i paid over $40,000 cash for this vehicle upfront. I got nowhere with jeep corporate.i even tried to write to the president of jeep; but, did not receive an answer.the dealership won't assist me either.i have read about similar issues on the internet with the cherokee, the compass and the grand cherokee.after a month, jeep corporate sent me a form letter stating that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, they can't duplicate the problem; and, i should take it up with my insurance company, which i didn't do as this was not my fault. The form letter has no name, address, phone number, nor email address. As a result, i am stuck with this unsafe vehicle, as i can't afford to trade it in and lose thousand of dollars.
When reversing, active stop randomly applies full brake pressure without detecting an obstacle and brings the vehicle to a hault.
I have problem and i need to know about this vehicle
Three events in 12 months of vehicle violent "wobble" (tracks side to side) while being towed by a class a (motorhome) at slow speed ~15 to 25 mph.conditions preceding events include: 1) from a stop to moving after turning, usually 90 degrees, but not always, 2) dry asphalt pavement, and 3) sometimes after a road dip.please note that other conditions may contribute/cause event, but the three events i've experienced, were under conditions stated above.vehicle had less than 16,000 miles when the last event occurred, and more than 7,000 miles before first event.first occurrence while flat towing was after more than 3,000 miles of vehicle being towed.notified jeep dealer - no help (no recalls, no tsb's, no recommended mitigation fix), reviewed many similar occurrences on various rv forums e.g. Irv2, fmca, and others.took vehicle in for an alignment check at 16,000 miles and within oem specification.the vehicle movement is violent enough to transfer side-to-side forces into my 45', 46,000 lb. Mh (with tag axle). The you tube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwguajaeeci) accurately represents my experience. I am using roadmaster's sterling tow bar with an air force one (smi) supplemental braking system.the tow bar geometry and proportional braking system are setup according to oem requirements,i have owned five jeep gc's (2012 and earlier) and have flat-towed these without issue.per the assistant editor at fmca, fca has refused to address the issue in the 2016 and newer gc's with electric steering, after recognizing the issue in the cherokee model after that model's conversion to electric steering. I have not experienced an accident and have not identified damaged equipment yet, however, lateral g-forces are significant enough to likely cause significant future component failure.
While being towed by an rv, the jeep started violently wobbling which shook my 40,000 # rv pretty hard. This started after a slow (about 5mph) left turn. The wobbling did not stop until completely stopping the rv. This has only happened once in 5,000 miles of being towed. Has never happened while driving the jeep about 11,000 miles.
We tow our vehicle and it is having a real bad wobble. This happens when we make sharp turns while in tow only. After the turn it usually corrects itself. We are concerned that this may be the same problems they are having with the earlier make jeeps which is referred to as the dearth wobble. We have an appointment with a dodge dealer to check it out.
The shifter would not move at all. It then stated to "service the shifter" within minutes the check engine light came on. I just bought the car from carmax and within 12 hours that came on after they did a full bumper to bumper inspection.
I nearly died on 5/8/19 driving my jeep. I was going about 60mph on the expressway in the far left lane. My sos 🆘 went off on my phoneand immediately i lost control of the car and wheels started turn into left and right. There was no more power steering and i had to struggle and force the wheel to the right and left so i wouldn't crash into the divider wall on the left and cars on the right when it would change lanes. This went on for what seemed forever. I reached for my phone that was flashing and pressed the cancel button and shortly after it began to calm down and i began to get some control. I don't understand what happened my phone was not connected to the blue tooth it was sitting on the passenger seat. You have an image that is described as a death wobble that is similar only mine was more profoundly severe. What is this and what causes it? it almost killed me. I could have had my grandchildren in the car with me. I do not want to go in to jeep an they act like they don't know or can't find the problem. This is a deadly safety problem and i am afraid to drive this car. It is safe and there is no warningsign. Fix it immediately, recall it, exchange it, or refund it.
While driving around a curve, steering control went out and traction control kicked on. This caused an inability to properly control the vehicle. Traction control pulled vehicle into the side of the road and caused a minor accident.
On highway going 70 mph with cruise control set and all of a sudden our jeep went out of control and started to the left. Was able to regain control after a few seconds, but was very lucky there was no other vehicles to our left or we would have crashed into it. On july 18, 2018, recall 18u65183 18-u6-51-83 reprogram pcm with new software was installed.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the structure underneath the driverā€™s side collapsed and almost caused a collision. The contact felt the structure underneath the driverā€™s side was lower while turning. The contact attempted to contact the dealer, but the dealer was not answering calls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,008.
I purchased a new 2018 grand cherokee trailhawk edition last fall that was factory equipped with "rock rails". I have discovered that the factory specified jacking location "pinch points" are obscured by the rails and no longer accessible using the supplied jack. There are "cutouts" in the rails but they are not large enough to allow access to the jacking location points.i had the first service performed at the dealership and showed them the problem. They also could not locate a safe jacking location using the factory supplied tools. It is potentially very dangerous to attempt any type of tire change procedure using the supplied factory jack on a grand cherokee with the rock rails option. Serious bodily injury and/or death could result if the vehicle was to slip/fall off the jack while following the procedure outlined in the factory user's manual. I have contacted us corporate jeep several times via email and phone (3/15, 3/17, 3/27, and 4/2). They assigned case #58203148 to the issue but have not yet provided any suggestions or remedy to the problem. I have not received any response from them other than "they're looking into the problem".*dtconsumer stated the cutout is not large enough for the 'u' shape cusp of the jack to engage and provide a secure lift point. You will also notice that the rock rail pinch point is offset 90 degrees to the original lift points of the vehicle. This means you'd have to align the jack stand parallel with the vehicle rather than perpendicular.*dt

And emergency break was applied to stop the truck.. Fender and ball joints and otors were damage as well as the shocks i believe...
A arm broke clean in two while driving down road. Nothing was hit prior too arm breaking as a result car pulled to right and hit back tire on a curb which caused rotor and ball joint on back to break. Have been complaining to service department of popping noise at front right tire with no resolve. Vehicle was traveling 40-45 miles per hour on city street clear dry day.
I was the first owner to my jeep grand cherokee purchased in 2018. Within a few months i started getting a warning message to service the suspension system right away. The car would then get stuck in four wheel drive or other mode and would not rise or lower stating i needed to slow down (i was already driving below the speed limit) while on the highway in order to maintain proper height.i took it to the dealer several times in the usa and when i moved to germany with the army. Now i am back in the usa and my car is once again at the dealers with the same issue. After looking online it appears other jeep owners have had the same issues. Is it possible to look into a recall for this model as this appears to be a widespread issue. This has been an ongoing issue since 2018

Service air suspension system immediately warning pops up after braking on a decline... Vehicle make a loud compressor type noise.seems to be coming from front right wheel/engine area.
The air suspinsion has been actin up since i purchased it new in feb 2018. It wasnt too bad so i just left it alone and didnt use it. Later it started flashing a warnning while driving at higway speed to "service air suspision immediatley." the suspinsion went into "park/exit mode" and the truck dropped and it drove very rough. I trailered it to the dealership. They had it 3 weeks. It failed as soon as i left. Now it seems stuck in off road ii mode, but the rear is high and front is low... Its pitiful. I do love the jeep, but this is getting aggrivating. I'm taking it back to another dealership and hopefully it will be ready fro me to travel for christamas.
I was driving between 50 - 55 mph and without warning there was a really hard hit and loud noise that i thought may have been a blow out. It was daylight and no debris in the road that i hit to cause any damage. I had new tires that was approximately 5 months old and 44,000 miles on my vehicle. My insurance sent out people to look into the situation and it seems the rightlower control arm and ball joint snapped which in turn cause the whole inside of my tire to be slashed.
'service air suspension immediately' is the warning on my jeep and many peoplesjeeps since 2015. This issue is a constant problem and chrysler has no answer. Where is the recall?
When starting the vehicle, it made a grinding sound. Then a dashboard message popped up stating that the air suspension needed servicing immediately. This same message appeared every time we started the car. In addition, while driving, another dashboard message popped up instructing to reduce speed to maintain proper vehicle height.

Uconnect 4c 8.4" display w/nav sirius satellite radio:favorites are saved, but when notification that a favorite is playing, the screen is empty.been happening at least 6 months.reached out to uconnect, and they said they were aware of the problem, and suggested upgrading software through local jeep dealership.tech from dealership advised that they could update my software, but, it could render the unit unusable....along with my hvac controls.a recent software update was available over-the-air, but it did not remedy the issue.this issue happens daily, whether driving or stationary.not only affecting my 2018 grand cherokee, but my wife's 2019 dodge durango with the same radio.
After recent update to the computer system for the vehicle, the navigation system no longer works and has me driving in fields in an area that is not even close to where i am and it stays in that vicinity.also the radio settings no longer hold with the recent updates. This all occurred after the update. I've tried programing in city streets, moving in neighborhood streets and highways, parked. Fearful more things electrical could go wrong.occurrence was approx. 02/19/2021 after the last update.
Ouch!
While in motion the display will freeze, and remain on and frozen even when vehicle is put in reverse, and after the vehicle is turned off, and turned on again. The last screen it was on remains. This has happened on multiple occasions last time was november of 2019, it recently happened in august 2020.
Forward collision warning does not work.dealership says the system will work correctly if the adaptive cruise control is activated.all information in the various jeep owner's manual does not specific acc activation as a requirement.searching the internet reveals many people experience the same problem.jeep doesn't seem interested in helping.
Car was sold to me with a open recall. It was purchased june 13, 2018 and has been in the shop since july 11, 2018. They can not figure out what is wrong with it. The check engine line and automatic shut warning light keeps coming on. Car would vibrate when driving. Screen would shut off when in reverse and in the middle of driving.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle at a traffic light. As a result, the second vehicle bumped into a third vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact struck her head on the steering wheel and sustained whiplash and a concussion. The contact received medical attention at a later time. A police report was filed. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to an impound lot. The contact called her insurance company where they had the vehicle taken to an unknown dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,155. *as *dt *dt
Backup camera failed to work.jeep only has 3062 miles on it since purchased brand new.
The shifter would not move at all. It then stated to "service the shifter" within minutes the check engine light came on. I just bought the car from carmax and within 12 hours that came on after they did a full bumper to bumper inspection.
While driving on a dirt road the passenger headrest deployed and hit my wife's head. She still have a stiff neck since. It looks like a latch is broken in the headrest as we are not able to put it back into place. It is very uncomfortable and dangerous to sit on the passenger seat now.
2018 jeep grand cherokee. Consumer writes requesting a copy of any recalls related to his vehicle. *ld
I backed out of my garage to run an errand, decided to run back into the house for a sweater.put the car in park (it was still outside the garage facing the open garage door).hopped out and went to go back into the house with the car door open.the jeep started rolling forward.i jumped back in, put on the brake, tried to shut the door and it sped forward accelerating.it went through the open garage, it jumped up two stair steps, the tires and wheels crashed through the top step floor, jumped up out of the hole it made, lurched forward and crashed into the house wall and was stuck in between the furnace wall on the right and shelving on the left.the engine was still revving at this point and i cut the engine by pushing the ignition button.i then thought the airbag was going to hit me, but it did not deploy.i decided i needed to get it out of the wall, so i started it and shifted back into reverse, but it wouldn't move.so i shut it off and then started to panic that there might be an explosion as we have gas lines, electrical, etc. There.the front doors were pinned shut.so i jumped in the back and was able to get out through the rear passenger side door.i ran out into our yard as i was afraid something might explode.i have found several other examples of this on your website as complaints, etc. In just a few minutes.there are many more i'm sure and the new 2020 models you have 3 similar complaints already.do something to hold jeep accountable.this has been going on since 2009.i had no idea when i bought this jeep.*dt*dt
Screen doesn't work correctly the screen start to do crazy this i wish was able to post the video of it acting up i when to the dealership while under warranty and they was willing to fix it at my expense which isnā€™t fair i shouldnā€™t have to spend over 2,000 dollars to replace a radio that is defective itā€™s embarrassing to have others in my vehicle while driving down the road and the radio start to act up
The top trim jeep grand cherokee 2018 leather dash is wrinkled is also has over four air bubbles. Vehicle has not been exposed to severe weather conditions nor has been into any kind of accident.
Air conditioner evaporator leaking inside vehicle causing freon to get in the car and get in our lungs.also this causes it to get into the environment
Purchased my grand cherokee a couple of weeks ago. Its black on black on black. The day i drove it was a cloudy morning. By the time all was signed the sun was out.as i drove off the lot i noticed the leather was bubbled and peeling up.i contacted the dealer. I can't seem to get help but online shows this is a huge issue with the overland.
I would like jeep to have a setting added to the car settings to have the default status of the the start stop engine set to off so that the driver has the option to have it off rather than pressing the button every single time. I was driving the yesterday and almost got into an accident due to the lag between the engine starting up and me pressing the accelerator. It poses a danger to the drive/passenger and other motorists. This is a simple software fix that fiat/chrysler could send out to all vehicles equipt with this technology.
My 2018 jeep grand cherokee trailhawk's sunroof suddenly exploded while driving 60 mph on the freeway during a hot summer day.i heard an initial loud crack sound and moments later the front sunroof glass shattered outward.i was able to get to the side of the road before the glass showered into my vehicle and over my head.i shut the sunscreen which helped, but there was millions of glass shards and fragments all over the inside of my car and throughout the ceiling.this vehicle only has ~6500 miles on it and was purchased in march 2018 brand new.i had the car towed on a flatbed truck to the dealer that i purchased it from and since, it's been in and out of the shop 3 times.the dealer replaced the front sunroof glass, seals and vacuumed out my car, however the day after picking it up, massive amounts of glass remained in the ceiling area. The second attempt and cleaning up the glass, they had to removed the interior header and seats to try and extract all the broken glass fragments.i'm taking the car back in for the 4th time, because there is still broken glass shifting around between the sunroof and sunscreen. The repairs have thus far been covered by warranty (manufactured defect), but this brand new vehicle is ruined.i'll be working with chrysler customer care to see what my options are and if they will offer a new replacement vehicle or buy back.very scary and grateful no one was seriously hurt... I'm very disappointed and frustrated to say the least and the saga continues.
Reverse backup camera suddenly stopped work. Very hazardous because it's a safety feature that's not working. God forbid i run over a child since i rely on the camera to reverse. I have video proof of the acquiring malfunction
Started making a cracking lose metal noise when hitting a small bump or turning the wheel all the way to either side...while driving on the freeway 405 southcoming from the 10 downtown..i was going about40 mphas rush hour started..on a small ramp turning the steering wheel started shaking and within a sec the front driver wheel rolled out , truck landed hard on the highway while still moving breaks got stuck, shift it to natural, push bottom to kill the engine. And emergency break was applied to stop the truck.. Fender and ball joints and otors were damage as well as the shocks i believe...

The main uconnect "radio" screen is delaminating. The screen itself and the clear digitizer has a bubble in-between and is separating.the issue is that while using navigation or the climate controls the screen defect selects random things or back out of the desired screen completely. The screen defect will also repetitively select buttons which causes the screen to change or flash unexpectedly and is a major distraction while driving. Many vehicles are having the same issue. For examplehttps://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/
The infotainment system begins to delaminate at very premature time and cause the climate to change in the vehicle which gets to be very distracting and uncomfortable, on top of that when the navigation is on it moves all over the place and changes songs by itself . Itā€™s like the screen is possessed
I purchased a 2018 jeep grand cherokee grand limited on 02/24/21 & the navigation system displayed i was in the wrong city. I called uconnect & jeep numerous times & was advised to recalibrate the navigation & given instructions. This did not work & was advised on jeep had my information in the system that i was the new owner they would look into helping me pay for the problem & take it to jeep. I took it to a jeep dealership after taking it to the original dealership i purchased the vehicle from & they unable to fix the issue & was advised by jeep the radio had internal failure & the unit needs to be replaced. Contacted jeep & uconnect who have now reniged on there word & are advising me i now have to pay for repairs. This is a known issue with this particular vehicle after doing online research & i would like some assistance with getting jeep to pay for the repairs to my vehicle.
I've had my car in the shop 4 times for well over 85 days and it's still having the same transmission problems. I have very hard shifting with acceleration and deceleration, ihave had the vehicle get stuck in first gear while making turns onto streets and i've had it surge forward on me. I've had updates, parts within transmission replaced and a new transmission. I now have been told that they couldn't replicate my issue and when i took it off the lot it did the hard shifting and then it got stuck in first gear while making a turn. This has always occurred in city driving, any weather conditions. I've been told that the hard shifting is normal in all 8 speed transmissions. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. I have had several instances that a wreck has almost occurred due to it not shifting out of 1st gear. I was told that they can't go to chrysler about a buy back since there is no error code. I guess i'm supposed to put my life/family in harms way.
A screen appeared asking if i want to adjust the clock and it beeps constantly and won't go away. I took it to the dealership and they told me my radio is defect and this is a common problem on the year and model
The rear view camera fails to come on when the vehicle is put in reverse mode. As a result, its makes it difficult to drive the vehicle in reverse.
Display dash screen shuts off and on appx every 30 seconds, reboots, and overheats, driving or stationary.
Vehicle was being towed behind 2016 tuscany class a with a blue ox hitch.we made a stopturned left at to bottom of an exit ramp.the vehicle began dipping down and back up violently from right to left, back and forth, throwing to motorhome from side to side. We stopped and checked the tires for flats.we found non and resumed travel.a few miles later this happened again.in all it happened four timesif this had happened at higher speed we would likely have been in the ditch.chrysler claims this is caused by a problem with the electronic steeringbut since they don't make a hitch plate for this vehicle they are trying to blame it on the hitchthis is a known problem with jeep, since switching to electronic steering.they claim to not have a fix for grand cherokee, but do for cherokee. Meanwhile i am stuck with a vehicle i bought because jeep said it was towable and now i find it can not be towed without danger to me and my family.
Touchscreens are de-laminating, causing issues with radio control, backup camera and backup camera sensor system.it's a safety issue for pedestrians and other vehicles as much as it is a distraction for drivers - radio stations and settings changing while driving, etc.there is a growing number of vehicles manufactured in 2018 that have the uconnect 8.4 screen encountering this problem, including other lines such as the dodge ram.
I purchased the vehicle in november 2017 and june 2018 the radio started shutting down every 30 seconds. The jeep dealer had it for 1 week trying to figure out the issue. It was never quite the same after they fixed it with a 'patch' but i lived with it. December 2018 my navigation stopped working along with my sirius radio. Intermittent restarts, jammed screens and locked bright blue screens also occurred. I was unable to use my phone or any other controls located in that screen. This includes my back camera and audible sensor. Today is march 3, 2019 and the dealer has had my car since january 9, 2018. They received 1 replacement radio, but it didn't work. They apparently tried other things that chrysler tech told them to and that didn't work. They have ordered another radio, but the eta of shipping keeps getting pushed back further and further.the new date is march 8th of 2018, and i will guarantee the radio will not come in then either.i am making payments and paying insurance on a car that i don't even have. I am also trapped in a lease with no way to get out of it and get another car that works. This is far past unacceptable at this point!
After recent update to the computer system for the vehicle, the navigation system no longer works and has me driving in fields in an area that is not even close to where i am and it stays in that vicinity.this occurred after the update. Occurrence was approx. 02/20/2021 after the last update. I've had the dealership check the issue, and they advised that it was a known issue, and i would need to buy a new radio.they had a big stack of radio orders sitting there - all due to the same issue.the radios should be recalled as this is a wide spread issue.your update caused the navigation system to break down.i should not have to pay for the new radio.please contact me to discuss.
I was driving on the highway around 5:30am. Clear traffic and no large truck in front. Speed around 65 mph and my sunroof failed by shattering for an unknown reason and glass fell from top to the floor. Have minor cut and the glass. Traveling on freeway.
The backup camera doesn't turn on when putting car in reverse.can not turn on from settings or screen either.
While driving on sat. 7-31-21 my passenger side headrest popped forward, i found small pieces of plastic in the seat and rear floorboard. No one was in the passenger side seat at the time. It now sticks forward and will not return to its normal position. I called my local dealership and told them what happened, they explained this is only supposed to happen in a collision, i explained that i was driving and no accident happened, they looked up my info and said itā€™s not under warranty and no recalls. They were willing to make me an appointment to have it diagnosed for a charge of course. I now fear the driver side will do the same so i leave the seat set leaned back and i sit forward so if it does , it doesnā€™t hit my head while driving
Several issues but the most serious issue was on 1-25-2019 when i had an appointment and parked forward into a parking space.i was earlyso i decided to back up into another parking space. There was an open spot right behind me.when i backed up in between two parked cars, my vehiclezoomed out of control, over an island about 7 feet wide and then off the island.i was trying to brake but the vehicle kept going backwards.finally the vehicle stopped.this occurred in the parking lot of school. . thank god there were no children out on recess.my son came and got me.i was so shaken up.my husband took the vehicle to the dealership.he was told that one of the system on the screen was on and he turned it off.we called the dealership to learn what the system was andwas told no one knew anything about this. We requested the owner of the dearlership to contact us but no response to date.
I bought a new 2018 jeep grand cherokee a few years ago, but have had the same error message pop up a few times now that has me concerned. I keep receiving "service shifter" message. Check engine light stays on for a while (2-3 days) then eventually goes off. Took it in for service, which they kept for a little bit and allegedly fixed. A few months later, same message popped up again, but this time the engine wouldn't down shift, tachometer kept going higher and higher - had to pull of highway and restart vehicle for it to run correctly. Took it to dealership again, they kept the vehicle for a week, dealership had to get approval to fix under warranty (had to work on transmission). On july 5th, i was driving on highway, service shifter error popped up again, but was still driveable, or so i thought...about a minute later, a message popped up telling me to drive directly to dealership for service, if i turned the vehicle off, it wouldn't start again. I drove a little further to the next exit, turned blinker on and all the lights on the dash were flashing, blinker worked, but much slower. I drove to gas station and it started back up, but check engine light remained on for a couple of days. My brother traded his jeep in for electrical issues, looks like i'll be doing the same, unfortunately. 38k miles and keeps acting up.
The computer screen has delaminated causing computer system failure
Issue with automatic start/stop light turning on, which then leads to engine light being on. Happens when driving, and when the light turns on and alarm sounds it causes vehicle to shift which jerks the vehicle. It has been an ongoing issue and has been brought to the dealer 4 different times, several parts fixed, and i am still having the issue
The unconnect system starts to bounce from navigation to radio and then bounces between radio and navigation and doesnā€™t allow user to change anything on the screen.
Siriusxm travel link - is the problem.i was enrolled by the dealer without being asked.siriusxm travel link pops up messages that are distracting to me as a driver.they pop up and will not go away without physically touching the high-tech screen.and they seem to have a habit of appearing when i am approaching a turn while using the navigation features.however, since they actually interfere with my driving (and frustrate me too) they are a danger.to make matters worse, i have contacted siriusxm and they are unwilling to turn travel link off.the date below is todays date, but it happens frequently.often giving me warnings for "weather events" two states away !!!regarding a crash ... All i can say is not yet (but has a higher potential).
Exploding sunroof while driving
Backup camera not working when in reverse. Stationary and in motion
On occasion, when the accelerator pedal is pushed all of the way to the floor, it would get stuck under the floor mat. This has happened on more than one occasion. It is very dangerous when it happens because the vehicle is at full throttle and the brakes will not overcome the engine. I've resolved the problem in my vehicle by removing the floor mat. I called jeep cares and warned them of this problem and they said to take to a dealership to have it looked at. They've known about it for a couple of weeks. I'm reporting this with the hope that you will look into this and get a warning out before someone gets injured or killed.
Vehicle unexpectedly accelerated on its own while i was braking. Had i not been breaking, i wouldā€™ve gotten in a car accident. Even letting off the brake slightly caused the vehicle to jerk forward quickly and aggressively until i slammed on the brake again. This is the 2nd time this has happened now.
The contact owned a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. While the vehicle was engaged in park, it unexpectedly accelerated to 20 mph and crashed into an atm machine. The contact mentioned that the vehicle would not come to a complete stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained bumps and bruises along with three fractured ribs on the right side and an injury to the right leg that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,240. See also odi 11141658.*dsy *dt update 10/18/18 *dt
When using cruise control and pushing the brake to disengage the cruise control, the car slows down until my foot is removed from the brake.it then speeds forward instantly until i brake again and hit cancel for cruise control. This has happened numerous times on regular pavement going forward.
We were using cruise control in our new jeep. As we were approaching a red traffic light, we tried to disengage the cruise control by using the brake. The vehicle would not stop. The brakes were completely engaged and locked, but the vehicle kept moving forward into oncoming traffic. Thankfully, the driver of an 18 wheeler saw us unable to stop and swerved. His swerving and our steering caused us to be stopped by his hind wheel. If the other driver had noticed us one second slower, we would have likely been dead. There was $11,121.91 worth of damage to our brand new jeep with 3,500 miles on it. This jeep is not yet part of the recall for the exact cruise control issue outlined. We are filing this, because we do not want another owner of this model to not be as lucky as us and we would like to not be out of pocket for the damages. Jeep flew someone down from michigan to check out the vehicle's black box and said they didn't find anything. We have the contact information of the truck driver who can attest that the brakes were fully engaged and the vehicle continued to move. We are fortunate to have all walked away unharmed physically, but the monetary pain cuts deep.
I was sitting outside of my garage door waiting for it to fully open, i had my foot on the brake and the rpms of my car maxed out and my car went forward through my garage and into my living room. I never once touched the accelerator and tried braking with both feet and my car would not stop. There are burn out marks left throughout my garage where you can see i was holding the brake. My car was completely totaled, my seatbelt also did not lock up during the incident.
Throttle has stuck on full throttle 2 times while accelerating on city street. The only way to slow vehicle down was to put transmission in neutral and apply brakes hard. Very scary situation! other owners have had the sane problem. *dtconsumer stated other owners have told me they have experienced stuck throttles also. 2017/2018 jeep cherokee srt with 6.4 litre hemi engine and 2018 jeep grand cherokee trackhawk with supercharged 602 hellcat hemi engine. I know of one person that has filed a claim with the nhtsa. I've attached 2 pictures of my throttle pedal and floor mat. When fully depressed it does not touch the floor mat. I pushed on it a hundred times and it did not stick. I do not believe the floor mat is the problem. I had it at the dealer and they could find nothing wrong. Very scared to drive. Updated 10/18/18
Driving on the street -jefferson blvd. On my way home and my excelarator pedal was stuck and could not stop the car and hit large escalade in front of me, thank god for that. His car was barely scrathed and mine ended up $6,500 in repairs less $1,000 deductible. It was quite frightening. I was not hurt.*dt
Recall: u65/nhtsa 18v-332 just bought it and found a recall on v-6 jeep grand cherokee limited. I haven't driven yet.please send me the certificate to get it fixed.
I was stationary(in "park' mode), sitting in my vehicle making a bank transaction at the drive thru at wells fargo located at 505 round rock ave, round rock, tx.suddenly the jeep accelerated on it's own, i pressed the brakes and it wouldn't stop.see also odi 11140468. *dsyi traveled maybe 15-20 yards braking, before i crashed into the walk up atm.exact cause?unknown at this time.

My 2018 jeep grand cherokee has hundreds of tiny pot mark like marks that appear in between the windshield glass.very noticeable when the sun is low in the sky.i have never experienced this with any other of my numerous vehicles.
Backup camera display is full brightness at night and not dimmable.effect of flash brightness when placing vehicle into reverse causes temporary light blindness as well as reduces external visibility such that mirrors and visual observation are impaired significantly.it is necessary to manually cover the screen with a shield as the "screen off" button will also not turn off the backup camera displayed.occurs every time vehicle is placed in reverse. This issue occurs at night.
On january 25, 2018 i wrote a letter to my local dealer (anchorage chrysler center) asking for their help in working with jeep chrysler to find a solution to the front windshield wipers of my brand new 2018 jeep grand cherokee summit freezing to the windshield while operating the vehicle on city streets with full defrost while operating in frigid cold temperatures.along with the letter i included a few photos that showed the problem, though they hardly did it justice.on february 7, 2018 i received a reply from fca that they "understood why this might cause a concern, but the characteristic i described was not related to a defect in materials, workmanship, manufacturing or factory preparation and therefore there was nothing that could be done (paraphrased)."on february 13, 2018, i wrote fca a reply disagreeing with their findings and cited the design feature that is causing the problem and that they did in fact provide the option on the 2018 cherokee's, but not the grand cherokee's.i do not understand the logic and asked for their help in identifying a solution to the problem "on my new $50,000+ automobile."it has been more than a month and i have not received a reply.i am very disappointed at their lack of a reply.i remain convinced this is a safety issue and needs to be addressed.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, there was an abnormal popping sound and noticed that the windshield was cracked on the top passenger side. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic where they informed the contact that a rock may have caused the crack. The vehicle was repaired however, two weeks later the failure recurred in a similar spot on the windshield. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic where they informed the contact it was the contact's fault. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that while at stop signal that there was an abnormal popping sound and noticed that the windshield was cracked again.the vehicle was taken to tom o'brien chrysler jeep dodge ram - indianapolis (4630 e 96th st, indianapolis, in 46240) where the contact was informed that a rock hit the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The contact mentioned the windshield needed to be repaired four times in the same spot. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
About 47 degrees fahrenheit outside drove for about 30 minutes with interior temp set to 72 degrees down a highway.windows started fogging up so turned on the defrost. Heard a crack and window cracked down middle of windshield about 10'spread to above the mirror and turned toward driver side window.later skipped about 2 inches and started again.by 2 hours later crack spread to top of windshield and almost to end of driver's side.
The contact owns a 2018 jeep grand cherokee.the contact stated while driving 65 mph, the sun roof glass fractured without impact. The sun roof interior cover prevented the fractured glass from falling into the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,820.
I was driving on the highway around 5:30am. Clear traffic and no large truck in front. Speed around 65 mph and my sunroof failed by shattering for an unknown reason and glass fell from top to the floor. Have minor cut and the glass. Traveling on freeway.
The goodyear tires have little tread left after 14,000 miles. Also, the kevlar goodyear are highly susceptible to penetration by staples. Staples!i can understand that no tire is impervious to nails but i would have thought that with kevlar these tires should be able to stop a staple. I guess not. Probably the most important issue is the lack of traction on the tires. They are absolutely horrible in the rain. Unsafe actually. These tires need to be removed from the market.
