The contact rented a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While driving approximately 5 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle forcefully. The driver side air bags deployed and leaked a chemical substance onto the driver's clothing, which contacted the abdomen area and caused a severe burning sensation to the skin. The contact also sustained bruising to the right breast from the seat belt webbing. In addition, the entire abdomen area became swollen and the right lower side was more severely swollen. The contact's left wrist was broken and the left knee was swollen and bruised. The contact required medical attention and expressed concern of the potential health hazard of breathing the chemicals emitted from the air bags. A police report was filed. The vehicle was deemed destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,200. The vin was unavailable.

The vehicle was in motion on a city street, the air bag light comes on and off, vehicle has not been involved in any type of accident so not sure why the light is coming off or on?thanks

My 2016 jeep grand cherokee were the air bag next to door and front windows has a large blind spot. This is not safe for making right turns or people who cross from my right or for the matter left turns can create this blinds turns where seconds matter in driving. I amnot sure what can be done about it at this point butthis just have been noticed before production. I have owned 3 jeeps but the liability of this make me worry on my next purchase.

While driving 30mph along with moderate traffic in the left lane of the main road in a 25mph zone at 2:30pm on a dry 60 degree day, the light at an intersection turned red and traffic was stopping. As my daughter pressed on the brakes tostop the car,the car was not stopping.she slammed on the brakes 2 times and by the time she slammed on the brakes the third time, the car crashed into the carin front of her.the car she crashed into full force at 30mph crashed into the truck in front of her and then pushed into the center turning lane and my daughter's car then crashed into the next vehicle which was a box truck with a metal bar across its back.no air bags deployed. My daughter was trapped in her car but eventually found a way to get out.the car was totaled.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while reversing from the driveway, the vehicle accelerated and crashed into a garage. The air bags did not deploy. I have a brand new lease and my alternator has to be replaced. The battery is not being charged, the dome lights and headlights dim intermittently while driving or parked. The car has also stopped while driving in the middle of traffic and magically took off after a few seconds while i was making a left turn unto the freeway in the middle of a major intersection.

While driving i heard a crunchy noise, i stopped the vehicle and had trouble to turn it back on, after a few tries the vehicle turned on. I drove about 3 miles and check engine pops out, i was on the way to a dealer to find out what is going on ... My vehicle lost power, the engine turned off and the service electronic throttle control pops on and locked a transmission.called jeep service without diagnosis they told me bad fuel.called road assistance to tow my vehicle.the guy wasn't able to change shift to neutral and my vehicle was dragged. This was happened on interstate 80, dangerous situation.my vehicle is only 10 months old and has a two warranties and nothing is coveredjeep service provide with three codes .p016f-00, p0087-00, p11eoc-00, the third one is not working one

My car will randomly stall out when i slow down or come to a stop while driving. There have been at least 4 times where i've been stopped at a red light and it auto-stops and then doesn't start back up again when the traffic starts moving again. A message comes up on my dashboard telling me to shift to p and then back to my desired gear. I'll try to restart my car 2-3 times before anything happens. I've been on hills and on highways when this has happened and almost gotten into an accident on at least 4 occasions because of it. I've only had this car for a year so 4 'close calls' is a bit much for such a short amount of time.

This is now 4th or 5thtime. Driving car, came to a stop then it stalled on me. This time something different happened. After trying to shut down, restart it automatically went into 4 low! i was able to get into a parking lot of the side of the roadunlike last time. This time i have footage of the entire event.i find it hard to believe that other jeeps same year as mine are being recalled for same reason, but mine isn't making the vin cut. This is now my 3rd report to this site. The others were done before new recall came out.something needs to be done before this kills someone.

Vehicle stalled out on while driving at 45 miles on the roadbrakes lock up and shift gear lock upcouldnt put it in gear.couldnt be move off road calla tow truck to tow to dealer

I was at a red stop light and when the light turned green i lifted my foot off the brake and onto the gas pedal and realized my 2016 grand cherokee would not move and had completely stalled. I checked to make sure the gear was not in neutral and read an error message on the dash that said something along the lines of 'shift the gear into park and then into desired gear.' i could not put the car into drive and had to completely shut of my vehicle and restart it to get it into drive. I was lucky that it was late at night and not many people were around although one person came speeding up behind me and had to switch lanes to not hit me, even came with a not so friendly honk. I have heard of many other people experiencing this exact same situation including while driving at high speeds on the highway and taking turns in busy traffic. This is a very dangerous scenario and i am surprised it has not yet led to a fatal accident.

The headlights flicker for a quarter second, and then work fine for a few minutes during night driving.this occurs on average of about once every 4 minutes of driving with the headlights on.according to jeep forums online, this has been a known safety issue in grand cherokees.during night trips in rural areas, i am concerned that this issue could become more detrimental.there are no streetlights, and many whitetail deer and other hazards are made unavoidable without headlights, or with distraction caused by this flickering.this happens regardless of speed, turning, or electronics turned on. It is even more frustrating that replicating this issue is almost impossible during the daytime (when mechanics are working).

Vehicle at day one of purchase shows a acc/fcw radar sensor warning and company is well aware of many of these cars showing the same issues, yet cares notto do anything about the issue being raised...

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While parked, the vehicle suddenly started without the starter key. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was not able to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,400.

Vehicle has bizarre software or electrical problems which result in it stalling unpredictably. There is an audible "pop" sound from the speakers and the display flashes over white and the vehicle stalls. It can be restarted but the problem recurs. My jeep dealer did not diagnose the problem.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While driving approximately 55 mph on a two lane road, the vehicle was unable to drive in a straight line. The vehicle veered to the right or left across the two lane road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer four times where it was determined that the vehicle was designed to perform that way. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was currently parked at the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. Updated 01/06/17*lj

I entered my car , i did hear a bottle breaking noise but wasn't sure what it was. I got out of the car again to converse with a friend. When i got back in the car and closed the door, i heard the sunroof shade move like wind was above it. I opened the shade and saw a hole and shattered glass. I drove approximately a quarter mile, beforei parked andheard the noise and saw the broken glass.

The auto start/stop feature does not properly function causing the car to shut off when we're at a full stop.i have to switch gear to park then re-start the car. The hood sensor doesn't register even if it's completelyclosed . The warning light on the dashboard will say it's open even when it's not.

Within 12 hours, vehicle radio speakers stopped working. We drove to jeep dealership and had to schedule an appt.now the vehicle will not start. There is no instrumentation lighting al all. This is after taking to same jeep dealer to satisfy the 2 open recalls, received back on a monday and not driven until saturday. Sunday am vehicle is inoperable

When i was driving on fwy 4 the truck wipers suddenly start working and feel like the truck lost power and kind of drive hard i tried turn off wipers but panel turn on check engine light, stability control inoperable, warning light, anti slip. So i scanned with module fixd and shows code u0212 lost comm with scm.so i towed to the dealer and obviously they said they have to keep the truck overnight cause they never seen something like that. When for several years jeep have this problem. Specifically with the (sccm). I feel they most be responsible for all my expenses.

While driving at approximately 30 mph, the jeep suddenly jolted and the engine stalled.i safely pulled to the side of the road, placed the vehicle in park and tried to restart the engine.it immediately started then stalled multiple times before all lights in the jeep turning on and a message appeared on the dashboard stating that the vehicle was not in park.i double checked and the vehicle was indeed in park.the horn sounded multiple times and the back lift-gate opened on its own.the vehicle was towed to the dealership under extended warranty and it was found that the electric power steering system had shorted and caused the vehicle to be completely disabled electrically.the system was repaired by the dealership.this could have happened in a horrible location with traffic on the interstate and caused a serious accident.the repairs were covered under extended warranty but a power steering failure should not completely shut down a vehicle while driving.

I am a firefighter with chesterfield county fire and ems in chesterfield va. I recently worked an accident involving a newer jeep grand cherokee with a push button start. The vehicle was rear ended, on the driver's side. The driver moved the shift lever in the center console to the "p" position. The "p" blinked red. The driver tried to power down the vehicle, and the display showed "vehicle not in park" and would not shut down. We had the driver hold the power button for over a minute and the vehicle remained running. I ended up pulling the ignition system relay, in the under hood fuse / relay box to get the vehicle to power down.without being able to power off the vehicle, it caused additional hazards in an accident scene, as the vehicle had a large possibility of moving, possibly over or into other safety personal on scene. *dtvin not available. *dt

I was driving along and apparently my battery in my keyfob went dead. My engine stopped while i was driving and if i won't have had just bought a new battery i would have been stranded. There is no way to start the engine withkey

While in motion, and with two separate god speedometers operating, my jeep states that when in motion going approximately 50-60 mph, my keeps speedometer places me at over 100mph.this problem occurred a few days ago.i have even passed several chp officers on the road and have not been stopped when my speedometer was showing 105mph.also, while pumping gas, it will not pump past halfway.

When driving and coming to a light my stop/start will kick on and will shut off my lights to my vehicle and the power to my radio. While at a stop light my lights will dim and get brighter along with my voltage jumping up and down from a low of 10v to a high of 15v while this is happening my lights dim and get brighter along with my dome lights doing the same thing. My jeep has stalled out while starting the car and sometimes while driving. My jeep has also popped up with a warning saying my stop/start is unavailable and needs to be serviced. I have also had to replace a year old battery with a brand new one because mine went completely out.

The car displays a message that the key fob in not detected and will not start. There is no way to use the mechanical key to start the car. This creates a dangerous situation as they driver can become stranded. Two different dealerships state that they can not replicate the issue. Apparently, this has been an issue for several years now for the jeep brand.

Electronic throttle control warning light appeared on 2 occasions, accompanied by sudden loss of power. One event occured in heavy highway traffic and nearly resulted in a multi-vehicle accident. Estimated speed was 60 mph. The other event occured while entering an intersection after signal light turned green. In both cases the loss of power self corrected after about 10 seconds. The vehicle has approximately 6000 miles on it, and i am the original owner. ...updated 09/14/17

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact had to quickly maneuver the vehicle and made several attempts to get it to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection, but the dealer did not supply an invoice of what was repaired. A mechanic indicated that the vehicle may need a software update. The contact was uncertain if the dealer's remedy would provide a permanent repair solution. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

The vehicle was started and would not shut off. All lights on dash came on which could have caused an accident trying to read them all. Had to disconnect fuses and battery to get engine and all lights off. Put all back together and engine will not turn over at all. It appears to not be recognizing fob even with new battery.

Car was stopped, placed in park and left running in driveway. Driver exited vehicle, manually locked with with the external button on drivers handle.driver walked around vehicle and up to residence.car began to move forward and driver ran back to vehicle, attempted to unlock using manual button on passenger front handle, would not unlock. Pulled out keyfob to unlock and was able to disable vehicle, but not before it ran itself in to a closed garage door.driver noticed it slip out of park on two other occasions while in vehicle. One day later, driver was standing outside vehicle, while not running, and not near door handle and car randomly locked on it's own.

No warning chime when trunk is open. How can this be? trunk opened as i was backing into garage!

Call while being stopped changes height at stop and go lights and when being parked or started without my intervention. I took it for repair they found a faulty air compressor but jeep instructed dealer not to fix.

The radio screen stopped working but will come back at times. When the screen goes blank, i can't do anything or adjust anything that would normally be on the screen. Which means i can not control heat or get any. It is like this during driving or sitting still.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started to vibrate, lost power steering with the abs warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road. The contact was unable to turn the vehicle off manually. Shortly thereafter the vehicle turned off independently. The contact exited the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to boardwalk chrysler/jeep located at (1b bair island rd, redwood city, ca 94063), but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the battery was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle moments later. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Uconnect radio/satellite channels randomly change by themselves which is a real distraction while driving.i started happening about a month ago.

Very disappointed in this how jeep (fca) has allowed a driver to back-up with the liftgate open, without a chime or other loud warning (similar to that when your doors are open. By accident i backed up after automatically closing the liftgate and assuming it was closed. The liftgate was not able to close and automatically re-opened without warning. I was in a parking garage and unfortunately the liftgate rubbed against the cieling of the garage, causing minor damage to the liftgate. It could have been much worse. I contacted jeep to log my complaint but was rebuffed and believe me, for their attitude in addressing a safety issue that should be corrected immediately, i will think twice about buying another jeep. No vehicle should be allowed to be backup with the liftgate open, and without a chime to alert the driver.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the entire instrument panel failed to function. The vehicle was taken to the gary miller chrysler dodge jeep ram dealer located at 5746 peach st, erie, pa 16509; where it was diagnosed that the entire dashboard and the transponder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the failure recurred several other times at different occasions. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer 5 different times. The contact stated that the dealer was not certain of the failure. The contact stated that on another occasion in the parking lot, the contact started the vehicle and noticed that the entire instrument panel was blank and failed to function. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 877-426-5337 and was made aware of the failure. A case number: 32190224 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

I stopped at a traffic light and the the "d" drive transmission light began to flash.the car would not move. It was like it was in neutral.i had to shift the car to park.turn it off and turn it back on before the transmission would engage and the car would move. What happened is similar to recall s28

While driving at normal highway and roadway speeds, with the windows in the up position, the air vents inside my vehicle do not emit natural air flow from the front of the vehicle.the inside of veh-1 begins to become stuffy and there is no way for the driver of veh-1 to get air unless the driver turns on controlled air by fan.this issue has been brought to jeep of berkeley and the issue has not been remedied. Veh-1's ventilation system is responsible for pushing air into the cabin of the car.this is not occurring.i have not received any response from jeep in regards to this issue that they seem to not be able to understand.my family uses veh-1 and in an event that an accident occurs, natural air would be halted.

I was driving my vehicle and it stalled out in the middle of a road in traffic. I steered to the left turn lane because there was no shoulder available. I put the vehicle in park. The ignition(push button) was still in the ?run? position. I pushed the button and the ignition wouldn't turn off. I tried pushing it multiple times and the ignition still wouldn't turn off. I also tried holding it down. Nothing i did would turn the ignition off. The display screen was flashing a lot of different error messages including ?vehicle not in park?. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. I have a video of the ignition not shutting off when pushing the button. Consumer stated windshield was changed out the same day this issue occurred with a jeep brand windshield. Since the ignition would not turn off, they left it overnight and the battery died, clearing all fault codes. Therefore, they could not find any issue with it in the morning. Consumer had many electrical issues with the jeep and chrysler was unable to help in any way. Updated 9/4/18

Took several times to disengage the cruise control even after having new software update installed.

Engine will not shut off when not in park. Car was in runaway condition in parking lot

Our 2016 jeep grand cherokee is not safe.jeep's 2016 grand cherokee brochure book (publication 73-383-2605 151m/11/15) states the following on page number 7: "8.4-inch touchscreen. The uconnect 8.4 nav radio keeps you entertained and on course. Voice activation lets you safely control it all while your hands stay on the wheel - change radio stations, control cabin temps and much more."mostly because of this safety feature, on 10-12-2016 my wife and i purchased our 2016 jeep grand cherokee summit; however, the 8.4 nav radio u connect does not work with the iphone as stated in the aforementioned jeep brochure while your hands stay on the steering wheel.supposedly, while keeping your hands on the steering wheel, the driver should be able to use voice recognition to command use of the phone, texting, navigation, etc. However using voice recognition while in motion or sitting still, almost all voice commands become failed attempts, which is distracting and is not safe while driving. I (john m. King) reported this to jeep corporate; and, they made an appointment to have our jeep grand cherokee checked at ourisman jeep, 2406 crain hwy, bowie, md 20716 (301-249-4227), which was completed on 8-3-2017 (invoice # chcs109503); ourisman jeep diagnosed the vehicle's systems and concluded the following: "u connect nav working as designed."while at the dealership, i (john m. King) demonstrated a 100% failure rate of the 8.4 nav u connect's voice command's to two different dealership personnel (service advisor & service technician); amazingly, the dealership personnel confirmed to me a 100% failure rate is the definition for "functioning as designed." the dealership personnel also stated they received complaints from other jeep grand cherokee owners with iphones.again, our 2016 jeep grand cherokee is not safe.

I received a recall from chrysler/jeep in regard to the brake/transmission shift interlock solenoid which may have an incorrectly crimped electrical connector. This could lead to the transition gear becoming locked in park or neutral position and cause a crash without warning. I received the recall in june 2016. Jeep of white plains, ny told me that service did not have enough parts and would place me on a waiting list. In august, i contacted them again and they explained that it was now a software issue and my car would only require a download. When i brought the car in on 8/31, they told me that they could not service the vehicle because it doesnt require a download (i was give the wrong info), the part is notavailable and i will have to be placed on a waiting list again. Waiting over 3 months for a recall is far from timely.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While the vehicle was at a stop sign, it stalled without warning. The contact powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The vehicle was later taken to baxter chrysler dodge jeep ram omaha (17950 burt st, omaha, ne 68118, (402) 493-7800) where it was diagnosed, but a failure code could not be found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the same dealer and was informed that they had updated the software. The contact was not aware of the software update at the time of the diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,300.

This is a follow on to a complaint filed a few weeks ago. I came home from a business trip on 4/5/2016. I started the jeep in the daily garage at bwi and warning lights came on for the stability control and engine. The gear indicators (p, n, d, etc.) were flashing and it did not recognize what gear it was in. It would not engage a gear, and would not turn off the engine. I had it towed to the dealer and left it overnight still running. The dealer finally got it turned off by pulling a sensor on the fuel pump. As of today, 4/28, it is still in the shop. They had replaced the valve tub but it did not fix the problem. They are now planning to replace the entire transmission, supposedly in the next few days, but as of today jeep has not been able to explain exactly what's wrong with it. It had just over 500 miles on it when it failed, brand new, and has now been in the shop longer than i've owned it.

Death wobble when being towedthe dealer is no help on this problem because they do not have a service bulletin on the 2016 jeep grand cherokee, but there on 2014 and 2015 cherokee. I need to get jeep to fix this problem. 2016 is first year for grand cherokee to have electronic steering which was the cause of the same thing happening. 2014 - 2015 jeep fixed it with a new harness adapter that send power to the steering with the ignition off.jeep said when enough people complain we then may come up with a similar fix". Only has happened to a few grand cherokees. This of course is not acceptable to me. This is bad and need to be address asap. This could cause a crash and someone could get killed. When the jeep is being towedand you hit bump while turning it starts wobbling from side to side so bad it will cause you to not be able to control the towing vehicle.once you stop and then take of it stops wobbling.

Since leasing this jeep in july of 2016 there have been multiple issues.the main code found several time is a loss of communication from the main computer to the rest of the auto. Code u220.issues include 1) incorrect shifting,2) incorrect "brake" warnings, 3) unavailability of bright lights in the auto or manual modes, 4) lane change/object sonar warnings not available (back into cement wall at night)5) nonfunctional automatic windshield wipers 6) lack of communication between the jeep and iphone 7) inability to turn jeep off 8) when in cruise control if + pushed it doesn't go up just one or two mph's, it speeds up very quickly and doesn't stop and 9) issue with adjusting the air ride and .the bright lights were not available 50% of the time.i would take the jeep in and they could not find a code, so they would tell me there was nothing to fix.finally, a tech looked into the issue and found a star fix and implemented it.now i have the availability of bright lights 90% of the time.i drove for two years with no bright lights for most of the time at night, on country roads, and even in the pa mountains at night with no other light distractions..within the last couple of months the jeep has started to shift incorrectly.i will be driving in town on a flat road and the jeep will shift into "off road" and the rpm's go up to 8. I have an available video of this.i also have a video of the jeep's dash after it shifted to another drive where the rpms went up to 4 on a level city road.when taking the jeep for the "brake" issue the tech could find no codes.i refused to drive the jeep and it sat for almost three months.finally, a star was implemented, however now the "brake" alarm goes off more frequently.in summary, it seems the main computer is not talking correctly to the rest of the auto and the errors are becoming more serious as time goes by.

Vehicle with 50,000 miles was stopped at red light after exiting the interstate, check engine light came on, continued to drive then warning sounds and dashboard lights started flickering and almost every service alarm came on, service abs, service stability system, service shifter, then engine had a drag noise as if in lower gear.i stopped and attempted to place in park but could not shift into park..i killed the engine, placed in park and restarted and continued with the low drag noise and dashboard continued to flicker and car felt as though it would stall, when arrived to parking lot, could not shift into reverse.this is very dangerous as i felt vehicle would lurch forward and i had notcontrol.

On may 3rd 2020 driving on highway the accelerator sensor went off. Heard a loud pop. Vehicle lost power and speed declined from 55 to 30. I floored it and the car would not reach speed of 55 mph. I had no cell service and was 45 miles from even a town. Limped the car to dealer and left there. This is the 3rd time this has happened and the dealer tells me they can't get it to repeat. Vehicle is currently at the dealership. I have called and left a message and have heard nothing.

The auto start/stop feature does not properly function causing the car to shut off when we're at a full stop.i have to switch gear to park then re-start the car. The hood sensor doesn't register even if it's completelyclosed . The warning light on the dashboard will say it's open even when it's not.

Call while being stopped changes height at stop and go lights and when being parked or started without my intervention. I took it for repair they found a faulty air compressor but jeep instructed dealer not to fix.

New, just over 500 miles. Parked overnight at the airport. When i started it when i returned from trip, system reports failure in electronic stability control and engine warning light is on. It would not go into gear, did not recognize it was in park, gear indicators flashing, car would not turn off and would not engage a gear. Had to tow it to dealer, left it at dealer with motor still running overnight. Dealer said they had a chrysler 300 show up the next day with the same problem. Almost 2 weeks later it's still in the shop. I've only made one payment on it!

I own a 2016 jeep grand cherokee summit 4x4 suv which was manufactured and marketed by fca ua llc as being a recreational towing (i.e. Behind motorhome) compliant vehicle. When towing of the subject vehicle behind my motorhome at low speeds i have experienced periods of the violent loss of control in the form of uncontrolled steering of the vehicle's front wheels which pose a significant safety risk to both the vehicle, motorhome and public safety. In such events, i have been forced to stop in traffic, inspect the vehicle and motorhome, then pull off the road to a safe location where further inspection can be undertaken. The conditions described above have occurred when the vehicle was properly prepared for towing and following the specific guidelines supplied with the vehiclein the fca vehicle operator/owner's manual pages 593-601. Fca has advised that is has insufficient evidence in the form of consumer complaints to support further investigation, engineering and issuances of a solution for such vehicle owners. Numerous other owners who own and recreationally tow the same vehicle are experiencing the stated problem which is not currently being investigated properly by fca us llc. Evidence of such can be found on-line publications and public-forums such as the family-motor-coach association(fmca) and irv2 forums. Fca us llc has previously addressed a similar problem relating to uncontrolled towing with their jeep cherokee model but to date, present no evidence to owners of the grand cherokee model of having researched and developed a fix for the unsafe condition. At present, fca us llc is telling grand cherokee owners to tow their vehicles on trailers (all four wheels off ground) due to the serious condition of uncontrollable steering which is unfair to those consumers who purchased such vehicles on the basis of them being flat towable compliant.

28000 miles +\- driving car on freeway in high speed lane in las 405 - the most traveled highway in the us,and the car slowed to a dead stop. Complete loss of acceleration. All electrical still working, lights, dash, radio. Would turn over but would not start. Hour earlier car was idling and idled to a stall. All electrical still working. Making right have turn into grocery store from highway and vehicle abruptly dies.'shift to p' comes on, and car won't immediately crack.it takes 3 or 4 cycles to start.

After putting car in drive, it suddenly accelerated.

While driving the vehicle and towing my boat (approx 4500lbs) for the previous hour or so on state highway between 50-65 mph with some stoplights (not interstate), the check engine light (cel) came on and the driver interface on the instrument cluster came on displaying something to the effect of "service electronic throttle control system". Continued driving approximately 2 miles to get to an intersection to turn off the main road.once stopped at the stoplight i noticed slight smoke coming from the left front corner of the hood by the headlight.i placed the vehicle in park, put the hazards on and pulled the hood release.by the time i exited the vehicle and made my way around the door to the hood, thick black smoke was billowing from all around the hood and flames were noticed coming through body gaps and the grill.within 30 seconds the entire engine bay and hood was engulfed in flames.i did manage to get the boat unhooked and pushed back and documented with photos.this is the third time these indications (cel) and driver interface displayed the exact same indications.the first time it resolved upon shutting down the vehicle.the second time, it was brought to the dealer. Approx 1 month prior to the firethe dealer found nothing on inspection and reset the code.the code was for excessive egr flow.additionally the dealer performed any outstanding recalls on the vehicle.this vehicle was equipped with the 3.0 eco diesel engine and was bought new, dealer, serviced its entire time and had approximately 70k miles on it. I have no doubt this was directly rated to an egr problem that these particular engines have had issues with directly resulting in the fire.

The automatic engine off is a hazard, i tried to pull out in traffic the vehicle stalled to go, when it did finally go, it was too late, but it jerked into motion and then stalled again once i stepped on the break, this placed me in a very bad spot. It took a full restart to get my car started again. This is so dangers! i tried to remember to turn it off when i get in however this is a new car for me so i don't always remember until it goes into it sleep mode. This feature should be replaced with something more reliable or permanently disabled. I plan to have it look at when i go for my oil changed. The stall has happen twice now.

Backing up to parking spot a home, from a dead stop i goosed the throttle to go up a slight incline and throttle stuck wide open in reverse. Stood on the brake for 20ft while fighting the throttle, hit the side of garage and threw it into drive and continued to stand on the brakes for another 40ft in drive. After smashing the ignition button frantically about a dozen times and also engaging the emergency brake, the jeep shut off.this all happened in our driveway that our children play on often. Luckily no one was hurt, and no one was in the vehicle with me but this could have been way worse. Never had an accident in my life until this event. Completely out of my control. Note the skid marks on the driveway.

I purchased my jeep used in april of 2019.on 2 occasions so far, while coming to a stop the engine cuts out.it takes about 10-15 minutes to get it restarted.this has happened both times while stopping at a light in busy traffic.i have seen over 30 complaints for the same problem on www.carcomplaints.com.all reported stalling out while decelerating the vehicle.some reported that it stalls while decelerating while taking a right turn, for example, while entering a highway off-ramp.the first time my car stalled i was not turning.the second, i was decelerating while taking a right turn.this causes a huge safely concern that should be addressed by jeep.my car has approximately 65k miles.

Less a complaint right now but how do out shut off the engine in case of a brake failure with a keyless start? currently the only way to shut off the engine is when transmission is in park. If there is a kill switch inside the cabin i don't know where it's located.

As i exited off the parkway i came to a red traffic light on the exit ramp.when the light turned green, my car would not accelerate.the engine light came on, and then it would not even let me shift gears.the lights and windows worked, but the engine and the heat did not.this exact same thing happened to me three months ago (same scenario, car stalled after the first traffic light coming off the parkway, engine light came on, etc. Everything exactly the same) , and at that time the dealer said that a computer error showed that it was the alternate battery that died so they replaced it.but this last time, they told me that there was no "computer error" and they got the car to accelerate so there was nothing that they could fix.i begged them to call the manufacturer or to ignore thefact that there was no computer error (suppose the computer was wrong?) but they denied me and were adamant that without a computer error code there was nothing they could do and they would not call anyone.in both instances, i was on a major road with a curve/offramp and it was extremely dangerous since even with my hazards on, cars were seeing me too late and almost hitting me.

Engine will not shut off when not in park. Car was in runaway condition in parking lot

On january 22, 2021 at 0645hrs, i was driving on a city street in queens ny and while stopped at a steady red light my vehicle stalled. When the traffic light turned green i noticed on the dashboard read'shift to p' and i had to shift to park, press engine start, shift to drive and continue on my way home. This is the second time that this happened.

Vehicle has bizarre software or electrical problems which result in it stalling unpredictably. There is an audible "pop" sound from the speakers and the display flashes over white and the vehicle stalls. It can be restarted but the problem recurs. My jeep dealer did not diagnose the problem.

I was driving along and apparently my battery in my keyfob went dead. My engine stopped while i was driving and if i won't have had just bought a new battery i would have been stranded. There is no way to start the engine withkey

Driving down the highway and lost all power. Will not restart. Towed to dealer they say it's fuel pump related. It is a fuel pump relay which is a very known issue (recall) on 2011-2013 but not on anything newer.

The start/stop feature on this model jeep grand cherokee malfunctioned at a major intersection. The engine stopped while i was at a red light for a prolonged period of time (the feature working as it should at that moment); when the light turned green, and i released my foot off the break, the engine would not turn back on. The vehicle had to be put in park, turned off and turned back on for the engine to power back up and move.

Twice now i have had my jeep die on me whilewaiting at a traffic light.first time i had to be pushed to the side of the street by strangers because nothing would restart it and it was at on a busy road at peak time. Second time was this week. Waiting again for light to turn, as i stepped on the gas to go, the car shut down.both times i tried to put it into park, restart, nadda. This time it started back up within about one minute.

In 2019 jeep rolled out an approved emissions modification (aem) program as part of a emissions compliance settlement with regulatory authorities.this software flash/re-program has made an otherwise safe car unsafe.at low engine temperatures (cold start) the vehicle has very little power to accelerate through intersections, make left turns, move out of the way if someone is approaching from a high rate of speed from behind at a stoplight.jeep has acknowledge this issue and have noted they are working on a fix, but have not offered accommodations to ensure one has a safe car to drive when they spend months developing a fix.it is a hazard, has resulted in several near-miss situations, and they need to be held accountable to ensuring their customers safety.

First it was the left and now the right, in 10/29 i took my car to the jeep dealer for the first problem and they told me that my warranty had expired, jus 40 k miles, today 12/9 the right does not work.and they are not responsible for the problem.

Shifter lights dont turn on. Service shifter light warning but dealer says its not covered up warrenty

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While attempting to accelerate from a red light, the vehicle did not accelerate. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, and turned off and restarted the vehicle. Also, the vehicle would not accelerate over 20 mph. The following day, the vehicle was driven to south chicago dodge jeep (7340 s western ave, chicago, il 60636) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was failing and needed replacement. The contact drove the vehicle to mancari chrysler jeep (4630 95th st, oaklawn, il 60453) and was informed again that the transmission needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

Driving down the highway and lost all power. Will not restart. Towed to dealer they say it's fuel pump related. It is a fuel pump relay which is a very known issue (recall) on 2011-2013 but not on anything newer.

Very jerky/lunging shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and downshifting from 4th to 3rd. The dealership has already done the update but it did not correct or help the problem at all. It sometimes lunges me forwarded as if i've been rear ended. It mostly happens when the engine and transmission are cold, but i've never owned a vehicle that has such terrible shifting.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While driving on a three lane highway, the vehicle independently shifted from drive to neutral without warning. The contact had to cautiously coast the vehicle over to the side of the road, applied force to shift gears into park, and applied the emergency brake. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shutoff without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle to resume normal driving. The contact had taken the vehicle to snethkamp chrysler dodge jeep ram (11600 telegraph rd, redford charter twp, mi 48239) on two separate occasions however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact also stated that the vehicle made an abnormal noise upon depressing the brake pedal as well as upon acceleration after a complete stop. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and they referred her back to the same dealer for an appointment. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 51,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop light, the vehicle failed to move without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v249000 (power train, service brakes, hydraulic) and stated that the parts for the repairs were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000. Part distribution disconnect.

On 3 separate occasions (so far), occurring when the vehicle had around 200, 300, and 900 miles on it, i tried to accelerate after a stop but the vehicle struggled to move beyond maybe 15-20 mph.each time, the engine loudly roared and revved, and, upon glancing at the dashboard, i saw very high rpm, near the redline.each time, i was in traffic with vehicles behind me, but fortunately (with use of my emergency flashers) i avoided a collision.in the 2nd episode, i was on the on ramp to an expressway in downtown seattle.in two of the episodes, i pulled off the road to drop the rpm to idle, jiggled the shifter, and when i moved forward again, the transmission seemed to function normally.in the above expressway episode, i let off the gas pedal and did the same with the shifter (on the fly) and somehow the rpm dropped and the transmission began to respond again.after the 1st episode occurred, i have been extra careful to make sure the shifter is seated in drive when i begin to move forward, plus i don't touch it while driving, so i don't believe the shifter position is the problem.i have speculated that the transmission toggles between drive and neutral, but i think it's more likely that the transmission gets stuck in 1st gear, with inability to progress to higher gears.in at least the last incident, the vehicle had just restarted due to activation of the electronic stop-start system (ess), so it's possible that is involved.i talked with jeep customer service and will bring the vehicle in for service asap, but decided to report here, as well, since i feel i was in danger when this occurred.

Was driving on the road when all of a sudden the dash board lights started blinking as well as gear light by the shifter. Lost power and costed to a stop in the middle of the left turn lane. This is the first time i have encountered this problem so far.

11/10/16i was on a city street, driving in traffic 10 mph, stopped in traffic, waiting to get on the highway for afterwork commute home.took my foot off the brake to put on gas pedal as traffic was beginning to move, car would not drive, put car in neutral then back in drive, car would not move in drive,, no warning lights came on the dashboard, no lights iluminated. The vehicle had to be pushed into a warehouse parking lot , i called the dealer ,the vehicle was towed back to the dealer on 11/10/16, by roadside assistance,i was informed by the dealer on 11/11/16, the transmission went.this is a lease 2016 grand jeep cherokee that i had for 6 weeks, with 2000 miles on it.call to jeep customer service 11/14/16,this is a serious safety issue, in 5 minutes i would have been merging onto a major highway, the transmission just went, no warning .jeep customer service gave me a case #,called jeep customer service again, 11/16/16, was told i would hear back in 2 business days, 11/18/16, 2 calls again to jeep customer service no response. The vehicle is still at the dealer , i was told the clutch in the transmission broke, and the transmission is being replaced.i want this vehicle replaced with another vehicle same type, this is a major safety hazard for a transmission to just let go without warning, in a 6 week old car

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v249000 (power train, service brakes, hydraulic) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

While the vehicle is in motion and slowing down it lunges forward with no input from the driver. This sometimes occurs by taking your foot off the gas. This happens everywhere, on city streets, highways etc. This has happened almost every time the car is driven.

Within months of purchase of new 2016 jeep, there was a powertrain recall. We were at 7788 mileage when the powertrain was reprogrammed. The jerking of the jeep while braking continued to be a problem. They reprogrammed the powertrain again at mile 48,254. We went in again in mile 53,259 for transmission concerns. , again at mile 57,227 there were harsh upshifts while driving on the highway and at 58,273 they replaced the transmission. Within a week, we had the same jerking happening while braking and upshifts while driving. So just 3 weeks after new transmission, it burnt up on the middle of the highway. Wehad to be towed and it sits in the dealer shop for over a month now. It is getting it's third transmission. (been to the service shop 6 times in 3 years) no warranty for the manufacturer....fca washes their hands. Lemon law is voided with the number of miles and yet the problem began in the first 10,000 miles. No communication by dealership. Manager promised us a trade and ignored our emails. They fired the service tech, or he quit. We need a different car to drive and no one seems to help us with this.

Loss of power driving down the highway. Went from going 60 mph to 20 mph. Dealerahip service could not find anything wrong with it. They cleared code and stated vehicle seemed to be running fine. I was driving on a rural highway 299 in trinity county california where there was no cell service and was left stranded. I drove on the shoulder the rest of the 30 miles to get to dealership.

Sometimes when in drive the car starts forcing itself to move forward motion, only happens when turning on a 4way street!also the car automatically turns off at red lights if low on gas it shut off and we were stuck at a red light

Shifter is locked in parking unable to move and also will lock in neutral has happend since truck was right out of dealership and i continue to have this problem , stationary and in motionin the city

After putting car in drive, it suddenly accelerated.

Car was purchased as a certified pre-owned on feb. 2018 in preparation for our retirement vacation. We drove it locally for a couple of months and then set out cross country on may 15th. We drove to massachusetts without incident, then headed back west near the end of june. No problems until we reached idaho, where it started vi rating and making clunking g noises from the rear. We brought it in to rogers dodge in lewiston. Their service advisor test-drive it and said, you can't drive this car, it's unsafe!" they removed the rear driveshaft and drove it again, noting that the vibration and clunking were gone. The conclusion being that the rear driveshaft was bad. They attempted to order one but found out driveshafts were on national back/order. This made me suspicious. They finally found one and had it installed about 1&1/2 weeks later. We drove home. A week or so after that we drove to california to visit family. We had accumulated about 2000mi since the new driveshaft was installed, when it started clunking again. We brought it in to lake elsinore cdjr and they diagnosed another bad driveshaft. They submitted it to chrysler for warranty repair but chrysler decided that the repair in idaho must have been done incorrectly, therefore no warranty. I objected to this. Once again, there was a national back order on the driveshafts. This time it took two weeks to obtain one. When they installed it, it broke while their mechanic was test-driving the car. From there, the dealership had no idea what happened, so finally they had their body shop look at it. The body shop manager said that it appeared that some minor damage had happened to the front of the car and was repaired before we bought it. However, he couldn't explain why it broke the driveshaft. I spent the last 2+ weeks pleading with chrysler care. Now they tell me the chassis is off by 1/4" so they can't warranty it

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated while driving 45-50 mph, there was an abnormal roaring sound detected. The gear shifter jumped out of gear and shifted to manual. The contact pulled over and the vehicle drove as designed. The contact stated while her husband was driving there was an abnormal sound detected and the vehicle failed to exceed 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that there was an issue with the transmission. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The contact stated the verizon hum device provided dtc code: p1b93 (gear one incorrect ratio). The vehcile was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 85,000.

I was driving straight down the highway during rush hour at a low rate of speed and my vehicle shut down. Traffic was bumper to bumper and i was only travelling at about 15 mph. I heard a ding and a message appeared on the dash display that said "place in p then shift to desired gear". I attempted to turn the wheel to coast to the shoulder and my steering wheel locked up.i was able to get over to the shoulder and turn my hazard lights on.i placed the vehicle in park, restarted and let idle for a minute.i proceeded to drive home without further incident.

We purchased a 2016 jeep grand cherokee on july 25th at crown chrysler of dublin, ohio. During the test drive, the car failed to push start. After it started the salesperson advised he'd have it looked at, diagnosed, and fixed before purchase.two days later the check engine light began appearing. After 3 cycles of starting and stopping the vehicle the light did not go off. I stopped into the dealership on saturday morning and after waiting for 47 minutes the service manager was able to plug in a computer and determine there was an emissions leak.the earliest appt was the following friday. On sunday, after filling the tank with gas, it failed to push start after 11 attempts which indicates that the salesperson failed to have it looked at, diagnosed, and fixed as promised prior to the sale. I was given a loaner on monday and found this website, plugged in the vin and noticed there was a recall (s28) for it! i advised the dealer to have it fixed. The dealer stated "your vehicle wasn't made within the time frame for that recall so it isn't necessary" i called chrysler cust service and they advised that it most certainly was and is mandated to be repaired. This entire situation is unsettling to say the least. We've had this vehicle for less than 10 days and there is little faith in the performance of this brand new vehicle and zero trust that the dealership will do the needful in diagnosing, fixing, and at the very least completing a mandated recall (s28) i fear that this vehicle is a lemon. Especially after reading the horror stories regarding transmissions, gear issues, and unresolved issues from other complaints. I will post an update when we are to be picking up the vehicle but for now we are not satisfied with the vehicle or crown dealership of dublin, ohio.

Takata recall brand new with only 800 miles. Day one, shifting seemed odd.thought it needed break in time.stopped, the vehicle will almost lunge, making it feel like someone rear ended you.shifts hard up or down shifting - around 3rd gear.today, 20mph was running 3000 rpms and wouldn't shift.i pulled into parking lot and shut vehicle off and restarted.the tranny light was on and did not go off but the shifting was normal - which is not normal.afraid that i will be stuck in stop mode and get rear ended or the vehicle won't shift going on the highway and will cause an accident.doesn't matter what the temp is outside or temp of vehicle.shifting is a jerky motion.haven't made the first payment and already headed to dealer.i spoke with salesman and he said he is having same issues with his new jeep.it should be under warranty but i am not happy that i have a brand new vehicle and paid this much money for it and it already has issues - major if it is transmission.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While the vehicle was in the middle of a busy intersection, the message "shift to park" suddenly displayed and the vehicle would not drive. After several minutes, the driver was able to shut the vehicle off. Once restarted, the vehicle operated normally. Ganley jeep (161 w. Garfield rd., aurora, oh) was notified, but the manufacturer was not. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 40,966.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was stopped and placed in park. Once the contact exited the vehicle, it began rolling backwards. While attempting to retrieve a package from the rear seat, the contact fell due to the vehicle rolling backwards. The contact sustained a fractured wrist and contusions to the face. Medical attention was received, which included wrist surgery. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred once. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

While driving, message came up on instrument cluster to shift to p and then shift to desired gear.i almost got rear ended because the vehicle would not accelerate.i had to put it in park, shift, and then was able to go.incredibly dangerous!

The car operated well at first start.early in the day, it drove 30+ miles.after being parked for 6+ hours in a flat public parking lot, it was turned on and put into reverse to back out of the stall.upon lightly releasing the brake, the car accelerated at a high speed (approx 20mph) and hit a parking pillar. A large amount of damage was done to the back end, including bumper, hatch, safety reinforcement bar and floor board all had to be replaced.

Lester glenn dealership, toms river, nj does not acknowledge this recall!

Vehicle was in park at startup. With foot on brake, i pushed the start button. With engine running, transmission would not shift out of park. After turning the engine off and back on multiple times, it finally allowed me to shift (3rd time after it set for a few minutes). This problem looks very similar to the problem occurring in the same year vehicle which is subject to recall, however, my local dealership is saying my vehicle is not a part of the recall. "2016 jeep grand cherokee vehicles manufactured may 15, 2015 to february 19, 2016. The brake transmission shift interlock solenoid..."

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v249000 (power train, service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.

The electronic gear shifter in this vehicle went from park to rolling down a hill.i was parked and proceeded to exit the vehicle when it started rolling backwards.i jumped back into the vehicle and hit my right knee on the steering wheel and dash board.to avoid hitting the pedestrians behind my vehicle and hitting the vehicle directly behind me.no warning that the vehicle was not parked when the drivers door was open. I contacted chrysler regarding this faulty design and was issued a case.....updated 06/15/16

This roll away incident occurred on march 7, 2019. My 2016 jeep grand cherokee was parked in a driveway that was not my own and i exited the vehicle while the jeep was in park but idling. I exited the jeep without an incident (noticing any forward movement of the vehicle) and walked to the porch to deliver a letter to the homeowner. I was on the porch when the jeep moved forward into this homeowner's garage, crashing into the trash cans in front of the garage first and pushing them into the garage door. This caused substantial damage to the garage door and it's track. I watched this incident from the top step of the porch and quickly jumped into the jeep, put it into reverse and looked at the damage from the bottom of the driveway. Two days later a claim was filed with fca. Three days from the incident, a eaa representative contacted me to obtain information. Four days later i was asked to pick up my jeep from the dealer after their inspection. On april 5th, almost a month later, i received a letter from fca stating that they could not find fault with the vehicle and it was human error! i recreated this while now in the driver's seat. I opened the door and was warned via the tone that the door was open as it moved about 1-2 mph up the driveway in d without touching the gas.there was no way on 3-7-19 it was in drive as i could not have gotten out without noticing it move this quickly. It rolled up it that fast with my foot off the brake. Fca stated they could not replicate this action but they did not even try! after leasing or purchasing in the immediate family: 4 jeeps (it never happened to any other prior model), and 6 other vehicles, i will never own or lease another fca vehicle again. The inability for this billion $ company like fca to replace a garage door and say it was owner error will keep me from recommending this company to any friend or family member.

Was driving up an entrance ramp to get on a busy highway and all of a sudden the car made a revving sound and a pop. Wasn't sure what happened so tried to go and car would not go over 15mph. We put the hazard lights on and move it off to the side. When we stepped out of the vehicle there was a weird smell and fluid was leaking out of the bottom. We had to drive 15mph to get home because it would not go out of first gear. Towed the car to the dealership to be checked out. Took the dealership four days to look at it and comes back and says it needs a new transmission we will pay $2 grand and you will need to pay $4 grand. I have only had this vehicle for two years and it is only 7,000 miles over warranty. They never contacted fiat/chrysler so we had to call them. We currently have a case with them but they are trying everything to get out of owning up to having a transmission problem. It has been at the dealership for two weeks and we were never given a loaner car. If this would have happened after we were already on the freeway we could have been slammed into from behind. It could have been a major wreck with injuries. All fiat/chrysler is worried about is our oil change records because we do it ourselvesinstead of paying them todo it. Oil changes have absolutely nothing to do with the transmission going out. There was no warning or anything.

Safety concern: the issue with the 2016 jeep grand cherokee i leased is that it slips out of drive and into neutral while the car is in motion!this happens on its own, without my touching the gear shift. When it slips into neutral, the gear shift says its still in drive. Three times i have taken my car in to be serviced for this problem to the dealer ship i leased it from and each time they have told me that their diagnostic test shows that there is nothing wrong with it, yet it continues slipping out of drive and into neutral. I most recently took the car to a different jeep dealership and they are telling me the same thing.i have called fiat chrysler corporation and spoken with gina lewis from their"jeep resolution team"and they are not interested in fixing or getting the car off the road. They only tell me that because their diagnostic tests don't show that there is a problem, it is undocumented, therefore i should pick up the car and drive it. I understand the lemon laws and that problems need to be documented but this is potentially a life threatening safety issue and i am not willing to drive the car and wait for something terrible to happen before they acknowledge that there is a major transmission issue.at this point i am profoundly frustrated with the unwillingness of the dealer ships and fiat chrysler corporation to do something about this dangerous car. It should also be noted that there was a recall for shift interlock solenoid in the beginning of 2016.i am terrified to drive my car and truly fear for myself and others until this car is taken back by chrysler.

Loss of power.... Electronic throttle sensor. Again second time lost power in my vehicle on highway 299 in shasta county headed home to trinity county ca . Again i had no cell service. This time i had my 9 year old daughter with me our dog and a vehicle full of groceries. Now i am scared of this vehicle. Scared to drive it. I have called manufacturer they have done nothing but close all my claims and cases. Denied my arbitriation. Wont appeal even though i have powertrain warranty of 100k miles. This vehicle is not safe! they wouldn't even give me a comparable vehicle. Dealership again told me they don't know what is causing this and they can't fix it.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled. The transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was unknown.

My 2016 jeep grand cherokee laredo makes a grabbing feel or noise when it down shifts from 2nd to 1st so not sure if it has something to do with the trans. Or maybe the breaks i feel it has something to do with the transmission but can't seem to get any answers except yum that's normal for the jeep i call bull**** but happens when it is in motion slowing down and turning mostly.

When accelerating from a stop at about 20mph on a city street and once entering a freeway entrance, car would stop accelerating, the rpm tachometer would spike high but car does not move for a couple of seconds then abruptly transmission engages then violently jumps and accelerates.almost had another car hit me from behind twice. Had the car about close to a month now and its has happened 4 separate occasions.

The transmission hesitates from stop before connecting.every time i slow down to stop, the transmission seems to do a double downshift and it feels like i am getting hit from behind.also, at times, there is a loud clunking sound when on an incline and putting vehicle into reverse.it has continually gotten worse over the course of 1 year.i took it for service and was told there was nothing wrong, but they updated the computer.now, the problem is even worse.i am taking it back today to have it reevaluated.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While driving various speeds, the transmission would violently shift from first to second gear. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to kelly jeep chrysler (353 broadway, lynnfield, ma 01940, (781) 581-6000) where the computer was reprogrammed and the solenoid was replaced. The manufacturer was notified and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 11,420.

It was parked in the nero ellie, i was in a hurry and could not get the vehicle in park so i put it into neutral, went around back open the rear gate door, then closed it, then as i went to get back into the jeep and open the door touched the steering wheel the vehicle started to move and i fell to the ground pinned between a garage and the door. After the vehicle had moved by me, running over my rightshoe,it hit a building, and then i was able to swing my right leg into the compartment and put on the emergency brake. The vehicle stopped and to my amazement the shifter lever was in drive.normally on this vehicle if you put it in neutral and get out, you must press the break and hit start to shift it into gear. I came within about one second of dying by being crushed between the garage in the wheels. At 64i am seriously hurting tonight. In reading on the web i see i am not alone in this occurrence, please do something in the way of a recall as i would hate to see anyone hurt like i was. Thank you.

When making a sudden stop, the passenger side seat belt did not lock the passenger into place.the driver's side did.this was taken into the jeep dealer, where i was told this is correct operation. The correct procedure to make it lock is to pull the belt out all the way, then let it back in.this procedure does workonmy vehicle.the owner's manual seems to say that the seatbelts all work automatically in case of a suddent stop. But i was given a document by the repair shop that explains the "correct" procedure.i can't imagine that this isconsidered a safe seat/sholder belt design.i assume almost every jeep owner is using the belts per the manual, and is unsafe.

Child got into back seat passenger side and upon attempting to buckle his seat belt the buckle crack and fell apart.

Passenger seats head rest broke randomly and popped out.

Vehicle stalled out on while driving at 45 miles on the roadbrakes lock up and shift gear lock upcouldnt put it in gear.couldnt be move off road calla tow truck to tow to dealer

There is a known potential problem of the inadvertent deployment of one or both of the front seat active head restraints.this can cause a concussion and can cause the driver to loose control of the vehicle after being struck in the head.the cause is a cheap plastic pin that is under constant pressure and has deteriorated over time and release without warning. This known potential problem has not happened to me yet.but jeep (fca) issued a warning and extended the warranty but has not yet issued a recall to fix the potential problem.they are only fixing this if it has deployed, leaving all other customers worrying and waiting for a potential hit to the head anytime while driving.there already is a class action suit against fca in florida.

Head rest deployed while driving

The headrest on the driver seat of my 2016 jeep grand cherokee popped open while i was parked in the garage.

My 2016 jeep grand cherokee driver side headrest clips broke on their own. I was sitting in the parking lot of my childā€™s daycare.

The summit model is equipped with driving sensors that actuate the automatic braking. When backing out of my driveway which has a slight incline, the brake alarm goes off and the brakes suddenly engage. I had the 2015 model (fca replaced under lemon law) and the alert system never went off.(video available)

Less a complaint right now but how do out shut off the engine in case of a brake failure with a keyless start? currently the only way to shut off the engine is when transmission is in park. If there is a kill switch inside the cabin i don't know where it's located.

The backup system was faulty.1.when in the reverse mode the back up camera senses when an object is close and initiates the bracks.2. I put in reverse and checked around including the screen and started toback up and the brakes jolted and stopped the jeep when there was nothing in site to indicated any thing there.it jolted me and i have a spinal condition and it hurt.i did it again to see if it was a fluk and it did it again.i picked my wife up and we went to the dealer which we paid cash for it only 2 weeks earlier and the sales tested and it did the same thing, wife was in the jeep and it jolted her and she also as a spinal injury and had just gotten a spinal injection.then the owner of the dealership disconnected the back ups system and made an appointment withe service in 2 weeks.i think they should take it back as a lemon and reimburse me the full amount.? damage to the breaks and questionable injury to us.

At 45 mph, level highway, no other traffic, acc not activated, car deployed emergency stop, applying hard braking, until car slowed to approx 10 mph. Had traffic been to rear, an accident would have happened. Car had 10340 miles. One previous incident backing out my driveway with no obstructions present. Same braking senario. Mileage was about 3500. Proximity warning feature was "on" in both incidents. Wanted to check here for recalls before contacting jeep dealer.

Since car was purchased brand new in may 2016, the front brakes squeaked.took car back to dealer for repair at 5,000 miles dealer stated repair to brake was made.however, problem continues and happens all the time during stop and go traffic.took car back to dealer at 10,000 miles.dealer claims they could not duplicate noise and no repairs were made.however squeak occurs all the time during stop and go traffic.something is certainly wrong with the brakes.

Was driving on the road when all of a sudden the dash board lights started blinking as well as gear light by the shifter. Lost power and costed to a stop in the middle of the left turn lane. This is the first time i have encountered this problem so far.

Vehicle at day one of purchase shows a acc/fcw radar sensor warning and company is well aware of many of these cars showing the same issues, yet cares notto do anything about the issue being raised...

2016 jeep grand cherrokee was making left 90 degree turn at approx 5 mph on an a non-public city airport access road, hit a small golf cart and stopped. Damage to the golf cart was minor and consisted of broken plastic parts. Visible damage to the jeep was a dented license plate. The front wheel were frozen in the left turn position and could not be moved. The vehicle was towed to a jeep dealer, who reported that the rack and pinion assembly was frozen and needed replacement. They said they could not disassemble or repair the part. The cost of the replacement part was $5,020.00. The vehicle has 33,040 miles and is well maintained, with no prior accidents.

Wheel wobble steering pulling to side while driving

While i was driving, the power steering went out. It could have caused major accidents. The first time, a repair shop reset the eps (electric power steering) module and no problem for 6 months afterwards. A dealership checked it out after and said no issue with eps.6 months after, i had the second incident. It is unsafe to drive the jeep grand cherokee. Less than 45k miles and i was the only owner of the vehicle.seems like nhtsa 10139995 is right on the money with the error code c2217.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep grand cherokee. While driving approximately 55 mph on a two lane road, the vehicle was unable to drive in a straight line.

I was driving the vehicle and the power steering went out. I have no power steering and there is a message on my dash that says power steering unavailable, service required. I have 36, xxx miles on it.

My 2016 jeep grand cherokee pulls to left extremely hard on highway speeds to the point my vehicle will turn on its own on the highway and i have to adjust the steering wheel constantly to the right to avoid hitting into a wall or other object turning my car into a death trap. It has been into jeep 5 times and the problem has still not been fixed.

Was driving on the road when all of a sudden the dash board lights started blinking as well as gear light by the shifter. Lost power and costed to a stop in the middle of the left turn lane. This is the first time i have encountered this problem so far.

While driving on a city street and turning left, the power steering went out and it became very difficult to steer the vehicle.the vehicle was turned off for a short time; when it was restarted, the problem was gone. About 30 minutes later the car was restarted and driven approx. 1/4 mile when the steering went out again while making a right turn on a cit street.

While driving to nashville, tn we were driving between 65 - 73 mph with speed control and hit slower traffic it felt like the vehicle lost power steering.the steering was hard to handle on the jeep.it would pull either left or right and wouldn't seem to go straight.we could stop the vehicle and turn it off and the steering would be fine again for a while.i took my jeep back to the dealer on december 2, 2016 and as of today december 27, 2016 they still have it.i don't know if it is the power steering or the lift suspension but it most definitely is a safety problem.this happened on the highway and the service techs have got it to duplicate the problem at the dealership.

The auto start/stop feature does not properly function causing the car to shut off when we're at a full stop.i have to switch gear to park then re-start the car. The hood sensor doesn't register even if it's completelyclosed . The warning light on the dashboard will say it's open even when it's not.

The contact mentioned the dashboard failure was becoming very concerning because its hard to see the roadway while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recalls was on the vin. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

The vehicle was parked inside the shop and i was vacuuming out the rear cargo area of a 2016 jeep grand cherokee (i was a detailer for for a local jeep dealership) when the struts for the rear gate gave out and the door dropped and landed across my back.i have been out of work since the incident, have recently had back surgery and am currently collecting disability pay.

2016 jeep grand cherokee.consumer writes in regards to vehicle front tires wobbling from side to side while being towed by motorhome.the consumer stated he purchased the vehicle to tow behind a 40 foot diesel motorhome. On october 12, 2016, while towing the jeep, the motorhome started shaking/bouncing as though he had a blown out tire.another motorist informed the consumer, the wheels on the jeep were wobbling from side-to-side.when he came to a stop, the wobbling stopped.

On 9/20/20 at approx 4:30pm est, as we left a parked position and began exiting a parking lot, we suddenly smelled a strong odor that was similar to the smell of burning clutch plates, we then observed black smoke coming through the front passenger vent.i immediately put the vehicle in park where it stood, my husband exited the vehicle and i went to the back to leash and remove my two dogs from the back seat. Once my dogs were safely out of the vehicle, i handed the leash to my husband, went back to the vehicle and turned off the engine, removed our cell phones and my purse and stood back from the vehicle.when no flames were observed, we opened the hood and observed black smoke and smelled the same scent similar to burning clutch plates.the smoke appeared to be coming from the back of the engine near the fire wall.i waited approximately 5 minutes and when no further smoke or any other signs of a fire were observed i restarted the vehicle to move it from the travel lane, the vehicle started and appeared to run as normal and no codes were showing on the dash.i immediately shut the vehicle back off after moving it approximately 30 feet to a safe parking place and called for towing.the truck was transported to criswell chrysler in thurmont, md some time that evening.i spoke with a customer service person, luke, at criswell and described what had happened.around 4:45pm on 9/21/20 i was told the technician had found multiple burn holes in my "intake manifold".having owned a ram1500 ecodiesel and having had the egr cooler recalled on that vehicle, it came to me that this jeep could be having the same issue.i am convinced that if we had been driving down the highway, whatever caused the intake manifold to burn, could have caused a catastrophic fire event, putting the lives of myself and my family in danger.i have filed with fca, case number 77286484

I purchased a new jeep cherokee summit vin # [xxx] , be advised the car cannot be registered, and is in recall .the dealership stopped returning phone calls ,and cannot be reached .i believe there is some type of fraud ongoing, if this cannot be rectified immediately , i am left with no other recourse than to notify the police , and get my attorney's involved. I purchased a 2016 jeep grand cherokee ecodeisel in 2018 through a loan. Since day one it has been nothing but issues. I feel i purchased a lemon. There has been several recalls on the vehicle over the time i have owned the vehicle. I have received the required services for each recall expecting the issues to be resolved. The issues continue to this day. In fact my check engine light came on again after it was serviced roughly 2 weeks ago. The check engine light comes on at least once a month. To top it off due to the ecodeisel problems they had an ecodeisel settlement i submitted a claim for. I submitted all the required documents several months before the deadline to get reimbursement the qualified amount but i have not received a dime. I tried to reach out via email and phone calls but never got a response. No reply from emails and whenever i called i would only automated prompts and then it would hang up on me. I tried several different options hoping to get through but never could speak to a live person. I feel i have been cheated.

I was driving straight on the highway at about 65 mph on 12/13/19 when i heard an explosion, and suddenly glass was raining down on me. Thankfully my newborn was not in the backseat at the time! my sunroof was shattered; i didn't see any debris hit my car prior to this happening. There were no vehicles close enough to me to flip up rocks or other debris. It seems my sunroof exploded on it's own, for no apparent reason and without warning. There is no item inside my vehicle to indicate something came through the sunroof and landed in my car. No damage to any other portion of the exterior of the vehicle. There is a large hole in the sunroof; the remaining glass is shattered and there are glass shards littered throughout the cabin of my vehicle.

The touch screen radio went out.because of this, when the seat warmers come on via remote start, they cannot be shut off, so the seat gets extremely hot.also, it will act like it's starting back up, and the back up camera will come on even while driving forward.it keeps shutting down and coming back on to where it says "jeep" then it will shut off again.

Car turns of while driving and has about 34,000 miles this is so dangerous and can cause a serious accident it has happen3x in 2 weeks. The third time i was at a traffic light and when it turned green i couldn't move. Car needed to restart just imagine being on a highway this could of been worse.i seen several complaints on numerous of websites why isn't this being recalled.

Call while being stopped changes height at stop and go lights and when being parked or started without my intervention. I took it for repair they found a faulty air compressor but jeep instructed dealer not to fix.

Less a complaint right now but how do out shut off the engine in case of a brake failure with a keyless start? currently the only way to shut off the engine is when transmission is in park. If there is a kill switch inside the cabin i don't know where it's located.

While driving 10-15 mph on a desolate residential street, my heads up display read 'shift to p' with no response with the gas pedal pressedand the engine turned off but acc was on and i was able brake to a stop, put the vehicle in park and press push to start to restart the engine. The vehicle operated properly afterwards and i was able to drive half a block to my house and park. If i was on the highway i might be dead.

This vehicle has a start/stop "feature" that shuts the engine off when stopping at a stop light and restarts when foot taken off brake. It has a delay of a couple of seconds to restart the engine, during which time the vehicle cannot be driven.the system can be turned off with a switch in the vehicle, but it has to be done every time the car is started - if the driver remembers.the system is working correctly, however i have almost been rear-ended several time because the system is slow to react.it is a major issue if you are in an intersection attempting to make a left turn - the delay has almost gotten us killed twice (no actual accident - yet).i was told by our jeep dealer, and have read online, that there is no way to permanently bypass this feature for the safety of the driver.i believe there should be an option on these vehicles to turn this feature off permanently so that it will stay turned off the next time the car is started.

On june 15,2019 my sunroof on my 2016 jeep grand cherokee exploded as i was exiting a garage.the explosion sounded like a gunshot and i was showered with glass.

The vehicle stalled while driving at a low speed entering a highway that was backed-up.

Severe bucking & jerking while driving. More moderate bucking while car is idle. Codes being thrown are p0406 & p0301. It has also thrown a p0402 as well. I've replaced the egr valve as well as all spark plugs and the problem still has not been solved. My fuel mileage is tanking and driving the jeep has become almost unbearable.

The wide screen radio is not secure enough to prevent thief.thieves break out left passenger rear door window, climb in and in two minutes steal the radio.more security needs to be in place on thi radio.

Vehicle stalled out on while driving at 45 miles on the roadbrakes lock up and shift gear lock upcouldnt put it in gear.couldnt be move off road calla tow truck to tow to dealer

My sunroof exploded while driving on the highway. I was going about 65 and there were no other vehicles around me. There was nothing that could have flown off the car. It exploded out of thin air.

Police had to come and stop traffic to wait for a flatbed.

Engine will not shut off when not in park. Car was in runaway condition in parking lot

Vehicle was park at drive thru atm.vehicle was placed back into drive and as. Take brake was released, vehicle accelerated without gas pedal being pressed. Vehicle went into forward motion rapidly and brake had to be applied to stop vehicle. Same incident happened again a short time later when pulling onto street.prior the vehicle would go into neutral without warning. As vehicle was attempting to cross busy highway, the vehicle went into neutral at detrimental time while traffic was oncoming. Shifting into neutral then back to drive had no effect. Vehicle engine had to be turned off then back on to get vehicle to go back in drive. This occurrence happened on three separate occasions. Dealer ship was notified and they replace a wire harness. Dealership was notified regarding acceleration issue and the vehicle was towed to them. Dealership mechanics advised they couldn't recreate the problem and said bring it back if it happens again. Very dangerous. Not confident in vehicle reliability.

Twice in recent months the car accelerated on its own while idling. I received no warning or message.both times the car surged forward a short distance.i applied the brake both times, but it didnā€™t seem to have much effect.the car seemed to slow on its own. My search of the internet uncovered many instances of sudden unintended acceleration involving the jeep cherokee, some resulting in severe injury/property damage, so it is definitely a safety issue. There have been many complaints, over many years, about this same problem, but i could not find mention of a recall notice or service advisory. Apparently there has been no definitive identification of the cause.i would gladly have the car inspected, but suspect that the problem can not be easily reproduced.i have had the vehicle for 5 years and only experienced this problem twice. Of course it only has to happen once to cause serious harm.

The vehicle lost all acceleration...on a highway...in a tunnel...surrounded by large trucks.the vehicle coasted out of the tunnel and made it to the nearest siding. No buttons were pushed and the controls where not touched. Both hands were on the wheel during the trip through the tunnel. Once pulled over, it was discovered that the engine was on, but did not respond to the pedal. Turning off and restarting the vehicle allowed the pedal to function again. This was purchased brand new only two and half weeks prior. This vehicle was brought to two dealers and has been with them for the past two weeks. The problem can not be diagnosed, so no repair was completed by chrysler. I expect this dangerous event to reoccur. I do not feel safe in this particular vehicle and will not drive it. Chrysler has only offered words of consolation.

I was pulling out onto the highway from a stop position, as i tried accelerate the engine acted like i was in neutral or park! i thought i hit the gear shift into park or neutral, but i was in drive. It went back into drive mode second s later. Scary feeling with traffic going 50 mph around me! well it did it again going from a stop position turning left onto a busy 3 lane street. Now i know something is not right!! so far no recall on my vin #, but many other 2016 jeep grand cherokee have been recalled with something similar. It's very scary , dangerous, and hazardous!

I ordered this jeep from chrysler it came in with white stitching on a black dash i had a concern about it when test driving the dealer told me they could fix it so i purchased it i have returned the jeep multiple time back to the dealer and they can not fix it the glare is so bad off of the stitching when driving it in the daylight i get a head ache over it i have contacted the dodge srt grop and they can not find a fix for it they wont change the dash they recommend not to dye the stitching due to the air bag being stitched together with the white stitchingat this point i want to turn the jeep back in sense 2008 i have purchased over 100 new dodges i currently own 11 srt vehicles jay leno only owns 2 and i'm sure they would fix his if need to bei do not redmond buying one of these $76000 jeeps they wont stand behind it if you do not like it i have had this jeep at multiple dealerships and they have no answer for the situation. Wheel wobble steering pulling to side while driving

My name is [xxx]and i recently (03/09/2018) purchased a 2016 jeep grand cherokee (vin# [xxx]). The following day my tpms sensor lights came. I didn't think much of it, tried putting air in my tires but it didn't work. I took my car in to service the problem on 04/30/2018. After i dropped off my car i was told to wait for a phone call. When i got the call my service advisor [xxx], who was very nice and helpful told me all 4 of my sensors were missing and there's a strong possibility the previous owner also swapped out the tires as well. I purchased my jeep with 8,000 miles, a lease return carrying a cpo stamp of approval. I was told there's nothing that can be done. I'd have to pay everything out of pocket. I didn't even get floor mats on the day of purchase i actually received them a month later. How does this happen? if my vehicle is a cpo doesn't is mean it past a multitude of tests? how is something so obvious missed? i'd appreciate some help in rectifying this problem, i spoke with the supervisor in charge of service and he never got back to me, unfortunately.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
