Tipm or front control module shutting off car while driving, turning off airbags and not letting abs system function properly.the engine has shut down several times while i've been driving since i purchased this vehicle recently

Air bag warning lightcomes on and off with car in park and while car is inmotion.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that there was a hole and excessive cracks near the center of the steering wheel where the air bag housing was located. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on four separate occasions; however, the replacement part was no longer being produced to service the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Vehicle shifted from neutral and accelerated striking the side of the garage. Parking brakes would not engage, causing significant damage to the vehicle and garage. Air bags did not deploy. I believe this accident was caused by a pending jeep recall. Nhtsa's # 13v175000.

While backing up very slowly out of the garage, the transmission jumped from reverse into forward. The gas pedal floored itself and the car accelerated at full speed into the wall of my garage, climbed over the cement foundation, and then the car slammed into the side of my house. My foot was off of the pedals as i was thrown around the inside of the car. The airbags did not go off even though the windshield was shattered. The only reason the car finally stopped was because it had been severely damaged as it drove itself over the cement foundation of the garage. The car was declared totaled by my insurance company.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. While driving approximately 25 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers failed to come on. The contact heard a loud noise, saw white smoke inside the vehicle and within minutes noticed that the driver side frontal air bag had deployed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the failure would be investigated. The failure and the current mileage were 7,000.

Defective back-up camera in 2010 jeep grand cherokee.

I came out of store and care would not start. After trying for 10-15 minutes remote start and key start, it finally started. Last week apr. 22, this happened again. I was told by friends the problem would onlyget worse.

While driving my turn signal is shorting out, some lights remain on while car is turned off and not moving, drained battery, and window control on the drivers panel that controls passenger window does not work.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the front wheels seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician performed the repairs under nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train) however, the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

On three separate occasions, vehicle check engine light went on/off within a matter of seconds. The first time was approximately one week prior to the most current two occurrences which happened about 30mins-1 hour apart. Vehicle was taken to the dealership and they advised that the system had recorded no error codes and were unable to determine what if anything caused the check engine light to illuminate.

I removed the key fobikbefore jeep was put in park and engine was still running. Discovered at slow speed in parking lot.there was a recall by chrysler/fca safety recall k08 ' wireless ignition node receiver but fca claims my vin was not part of the recall. However this is the exact problem that this jeep is experiencing. Recall states "the frequency operated button integrated key(fobik) may be removed prior to placing the automatic transmission gear shiftlever in the 'park' position. This could result in unintended vehicle movementand cause a crash without warning." fca also says "recalls are vin related, where manufactured and when manufactured. Recall k08 does not involve your vehicle" this vehicle can be in gear with the engine running and the key removed resulting in unattended vehicle movement. Very unsafe

It started over bump in the road then brake pedal would go all the way down not stopping correctly now it like that all the time while in motion or at a halt. Turning key in ignition causes a stall like chocking sound and does not turn on the car. Need to repeat this step a few times beforevehicle turns on while at a stand still.

Car would not start.this had happened 4 times before about 2 or 3 months apart.this time i had to have it towed.next day it started.someone suggested it could be the infamous tipm that is discussed all over the internet.

Constant rumble in rear end of vehicle. Dealer has had 5 separate occasions and can't resolve. Feels like rest wheels will fall off. Also, intermittently when turning ignition switch, vehicle won't start. After 2-3 times it will then start. Had a 2005 keep cherokee that did the same unresolved issue.

Sometimes engine experiences no crank/no start. I did google search that its wireless control module fails. There is a recall for newer mode but not for 210 jeep grand cherokee.

Multiple electrical issues.sunroof not closing, passenger window would go down but not up (from passenger switch only - driver's side would work the passenger window fine), radio would turn off at random, and the switches that can be programmed to work the garage door -have never worked.when these issues are taken to the dealer - they cannot replicate the problem so they will not fix or repair.on one occasion the dealer saw the window switch not working...but had to have the warranty people come and see for themselves (car was on an extended warranty) well, low and behold it worked when they were there.these issues were extremely frustrating and the dealer was not helpful.i explained the car clearly had electrical issues in general.the car only has 22,600 miles on it and i planned on keeping it for many years.however, if i am having this many problems now - there is now way i will keep it.

Reference: nhtsa campaign number: 10v200000while driving, if the vehicle goes over a bump in the road the key fob may fall out of the ignition module.while stationary, the key may be removed from the ignition switch (win module) prior to placing the shifter in park. This could result in the potential for unintended vehicle movement and could increase the risk of a crash.

Our 2010 jeep grand cherokee has been shutting off in many different occasions since may 2017. We've taken it to our local mechanic and he suggested we go directly to the dodge/jeep dealership. Nobody can find what is causing this but say this is a known issue. While driving the vehicle at varying speeds, including sitting still idling, traveling 25 mph on municipal road, 60+mph on hwy. When this happens the whole car shuts off leaving us unable to steer, loss of breaks, loss of power steering, loss of power to the whole jeep, engine shuts off and loss of ability to control the vehicle to safety. Stalling in moving traffic when you don't expect it has inherent risk and the loss of power systems like brakes and steering that accompanies a vehicle stall makes getting out of the way difficult. Losing all ability to accelerate or use power steering. We've had to run the vehicle off the road in the middle of traffic into a farm pasture in order to get to safety. The jeep has lost power on the hwy traveling 60+mph and had to veer off in order to control the jeep and get to safety. This is our main car to take my wife to work and our daughter to and from school. We've had to leave the car in the driveway due to life safety concerns. My local dodge/jeep dealership says this is a known issue but don't know how to resolve this potential life threatening issue is very concerning and we would appreciate your help in resolving this matter.

When jeep is started after being parked. Wont shift out of park. When ignition is turned off, engine continues to run even after key is removed. All other electric components turn off except for engine. Safety release button was pushed to get jeep out of gear, but when put back in park, it gets stuck again. Is there a recall on ignition switch or module switch thats causing this?

Tipm or front control module shutting off car while driving, turning off airbags and not letting abs system function properly.the engine has shut down several times while i've been driving since i purchased this vehicle recently

Was driving my vehicle at approximately 25 miles per hour when my car shut off completely. My power steering and brakes stopped working as well and i almost rear ended another vehicle.i assumed it was the battery and replaced the vehicle battery at a cost of $225.00. The car worked intermittently for the next few days until today, when i had shut it off and then it wouldn't restart.i was finally able to get the vehicle restarted and got it to garden city jeep where they told me it was indeed a win module.i have noticed that there is a recall for that exact part for approximately 7,000 other 2010 grand cherokees and wondering why others were not included. This is a dangerous and expensive situation and i would like to have it remedied as soon as possible.thank you,[xxx][xxx]valley stream, ny 11581information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

I purchased the vehicle in early february 2014.jeep would not start. This had happened 4 times before about 2 or 3 months apart then recently about 3 weeks apart, . This time i had to have it towed.someone suggested it could be the infamous tipm that is discussed all over the internet. There are the same electrical wiring complaints all over the internet, how can jeep not be responsible for stranding motorists all over for the same repeated problems.

Takata recall vehicle will start intermittently getting worse, i have replaced the battery and the starter. My car will turn over on it's own if i leave my key in the start position to have the radio on without me touching the key or cranking it over. The vehicle also knocked its self out of park and hit into a building. I've had electrical issues since my purchase back in 2016 and i've had no answers to what the problems are. I owe 13,000 on my vehicle and i need help figuring out if it could be a recall or not.

The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

The remote start and door unlock key may (or may not) work when activated the first time for a 2010 jeep grand cherokee.takes several tries for the doors to unlock.failure of this remote is random and inconsistent.no action to date with the dealer due to random part failure.

Ignition moduleproblem vehicle runs without key in ignition

When i try to start my car i turn the key and all the lights come on but the car will not start. The battery is new.the starter doesn't engage at all. Also when i try to lock or unlock the car with the key fob i have to press the key fob 10-15 times to get it to work.i brought it to my local dealer multiple times for the same issue and they said there wasn't anything wrong with it.

At any random time my 2010 jeep grand cherokee laredo will not start. The battery is new. Lights come on, radio comes on, lights do not dim, but jeep will not start. After a few hours of waiting and trying again it starts up fine. Had it checked , issue couldn't be found. Happened again and was stranded in the snow , more than once. Issue still happens and is happening more frequently. So much so i cannot count on that vehicle.

Win module failure cause car to stall while driving and not starting

I was driving along on the highway about 65 mph and all of a sudden the engine light oil light and the 23. Electronic throttle control (etc) warning light all came on in that order and the engine just died.. No safe place to park and no power steering but was able to get it in a driveway off the road.. It would crank but not turn over.. Had to have it towed home.. Called chrysler to see if it had any recalls and they said there were none..then had it scanned read p0340 camshaft sensor had that replaced still did not work.. The mechanic called two days later and said that it was the tipm module and had it towed over to the dealership.. He said he had to dig to find the recall and that my jeep was manufactured in feburary 2010 and it falls into the recall.. This is not the first time i have had electrical issues such as the radio shutting down and restarting for no reason the remote having new batteries and not unlocking the vehicle..

The vehicle will start on it's own.you turn it off and it will restart whether you are in the vehicle or not.the vehicle will lock and unlock several times while in or out of the car.the fob will not open the locks or they jump between locked and unlocked by themselves.the windows will open on their own especially the lift window in the back when driving or sitting still. The panic alarm goes off without a reason.it will start on it's own in the middle of the night or in a parking lot.makes no difference whether i am there or not .dealership says theycan not get it to do these things.itbought the vehicle in june and it has been happening since then.

During a snow storm on 11/26/2014 while 5 mo. Pregnant my car went off the highway into the middle median during the evening commute because the 4wd did not work.i changed from right lane to left lane at a speed of 30-35mph to allow space for oncoming merging traffic.when changing lanes i kept going left and could not stay on the traveled portion.i had to drive in reverse to get out over the plow bank and into the travel way.once home i could not make it up my 450ft long driveway and the rear end kept sliding out- the 4wd did not work. 5mo pregnant i could not shovel myself out and had to wait until thanksgiving morning for assistance,as a result the plow truck could not clean the driveway.went to the svc dept of my dealership.they informed me there was as software update correcting an issue with the n23 recall.i was about the 6-7 car with a similar issue.at first there was no software update, but it appears a software update was initiated in the fall of 2014 but no communication was made to those who had the n23 recall.i just received a recall notice for a "consumer safety notification" chrysler published on may 2015.i was informed by chrysler this evening it is not a "recall" because it is not a safety issue. I filed a complaint.when asked how the complaint process works he said it will be reviewed internally.i asked if someone would call me back or if it is just put in a record somewhere. I was informed it is maintained internally, no one would be calling me back, but it would be reviewed.this is most definitely a safety issue. I could have been hurt, i could have hurt someone, or worse case someone could have died.the car did not perform as expected in challenging conditions.it appears the issue was known about and hence a software update.it is disappointing the public was not notified until may 2015, and that it is not classified as as safety concern.

Key can be removed while started being unsafe

Car just shuts off on its own, and has starting issues, had one instance where it just shown down completely in traffic.this final instance will not start and lights on panel just jump around and it is making strange noises under the hood it will not start all lights come on radio etc . Will e having the issue checked asap and will update once or if i found out cause

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I've tried passing smog now for 5 months and i keep gettting ob11 not ready. I've had my car looked at and serviced by two mech to run diagnostics - nothing comes up. I take meticulous care and have full records of my service records. I'm at a loss and although i've paid my registration - i cannot get current tags. I don't know what to do.

Notification code p64 is not being resolved in a reasonable time period.we have called the dealer/service center that sold us the car; autopark chrysler jeep 400 auto park boulevard cary, nc 27511; many times over the last 3 months only to be told they don't have the part and are not sure when they will get the part.this is not acceptable if the defective part creates an steering issue with the car that results in loss of control, a wreak, injury, or death (esc)!this is not a recall for a piece of interior trim!!! it is a recall of a vital system of the car...the steering and brake system!

This is the second jeep i've had with jeeps esp system that cannot be controlled safely with this program active on other than clean dry paved roads. It appears esp actually stand for extremely stupid program as the program has an extremely bad action of slamming on individual brakes at the worst possible times. On 12/19/2009 while traveling on bailey rd in kent county, mi the esp caused the lost of control of our 2008 jeep liberty on wet icy roads. We went around a curve and began to climb a hill the esp started slamming on one brake and then another thus throwing the vehicle from shoulder to shoulder of the road. I was only able to regain control of the vehicle after turning the esp off.in early may, 2010 i was involved in an avoidable accident with my 2008 liberty when the esp prevented me from swerving to avoid another car stopped at a green light. After the impact my car started to spin the esp fired again causing a shift in car"s kinetic weight, causing the car flip and the steering wheel to spin sharply to the left breaking my wrist and totaling the car.after this accident a bought a 2010 jeep grand cherokee which i've found cannot be safely controlled in other than ideal driving conditions with this dangerous program active. This problem is compounded by the fact that it cannot be fully turned off and it comes back on if the car is driven above 44 mph or the ignition turned off for any reason.any idiot with any driving experience knows better than to slam on the brakes on wet icy roads. Any driver with any advanced driving skills is not going to slam on the brakes in a turn but instead will hit the gas and counter steer if they start to slip in a turn.unfortunately this is when the esp slams on the brakes and tries to roll the vehicle. This program needs to be turn off until it can actually understand what the driver intends to do.

We purchased the vehicle on a saturday evening and were sitting in a burger king drive through the next morning and the vehicle gave an alarm that said transmission over temp and the vehicle cut off.it was not in park, it was in drive with my foot on the brake.i had to restart the jeep and it was immediately sent back to the dealer.they did numerous tests for a week and did not find any problem.

Hello, my name is [xxx]and i own a 2010 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.7l hemi here in kuwait.i have been working in kuwait supporting the warfighter since 2007.i purchased my nice well maintained jeep in february 2018.i just reached 82,000 miles and on monday september 2 2019 i was on the highway around 60-70mph when all of a sudden i heard a very subtle noise and i looked at my dash to see a check engine light and another light. At that point i had no power and i shifted into neutral.i tried restarting and could hear the starter turning over but it didn't start back up.once i got to a safe place i tried again and still nothing.it was turning over with no bad sounds and seemed like it was turning over easily.i had the jeep towed to a mechanic where they found 4 cylinders had no compression. They removed the heads to find some valves were visibly bent.when they tried turning the crank by hand they found the cam was not moving.upon opening the front cover the timing chain had actually failed and was broken.i was very disappointed to say the least.i was hoping to have a nice car for a while and this jeep was in very good shape.i have been researching and found there has been a recall for the same engine in other mopar vehicles and was hoping to get some insight if my jeep like others i have read about would be able to go under that recall for the same problem.i think its something with the tensioner on the recall that ends up wiping out the timing chain.i don't really understand why they only put like 3 vehicles in the recall but if its the same engine why not fix them all.i really like my jeep and hope to get more info of the recall.respectfully, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving my car down a hill at approximately 45 miles and hour, eco mode was activated, and began to slow down the light when suddenly my check engine light and traction control light came on. I felt my car losing power and steering, but thankfully was able to coast to the side of the road before it totally shut off. I had it towed to a jeep dealership, where they inspected it and informed me that the timing chain broke. They had never seen this before and informed me it was not possible that this happened due to normal use of the vehicle. They recommended replacing the chain, tensioners, etc., which i had them do, but they went to test drive the vehicle and found there was damage to the valves. After researching this problem, i came across this exact same issue, occurring under the same or similar circumstances, in dodge challengers and chargers with the same engine (5.7l v8 hemi) in the same year (2010). I saw that there was an open recall for those vehicles and called jeep to discuss this, but they informed me that while this was the same thing, there was no open recalls for my grand cherokee and so there was nothing they could do.

Takata recall vehicle will start intermittently getting worse, i have replaced the battery and the starter. My car will turn over on it's own if i leave my key in the start position to have the radio on without me touching the key or cranking it over. I was drving my jeep at highway speed through a tollway in illinois. I let up off the throttle and the engine shut off. 5 or so warning lights came on. I lost throttle response, power steering, and power brakes. I had the jeep towed to the jeep dealer. After 2 days, the mechanic found my timing chain broken. He also found my valves were bent. He said i would need a new motor. I did research and found that chrysler knows about this issue. The trouble is they only recalled challengers, chargers and 300c's. They named it the p01 customer satisfaction notification.i have the 5.7 hemi in my jeep and it is an automatic with the mds.the service manual says the timing chain does not need maintenance and will last the life of the motor.

The engine (5.7 hemi) shuts off shortly after filling up the tank. Its happens 3 times each time after fully filling up the gas tank. Engine will shut off (no stuttering) while driving just half mile (city driving)from the last fill up. The engine will start right up once the car comes to a stop and doesn't happen again until fill up.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start when the engine got cold. In addition, the contact stated that the ignition made a clicking noise while attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. Sept 26, 2015 driving down the highway at about 65 mph in cruise control, my jeep just died. Would not start or turn over the engine light oil light and ect light came on. Turns out the timing chain broke damaged intake valve on #2 cylinder and exhaust valve on #8 cylinder. Had the heads inspected valves and timing chain replaced. And new spark plugs, it had 100565 miles on it. Picked it up from the shop on nov 13, 2015 ran perfectly no vibrations spark knock smooth.. Not even 200 miles on it and the same thing driving about 65 mph in eco mode and it just died. The engine light traction control light and ect light and oil light came on. Pulled over on the should it would not start. Had it towed back to the shop.. The same thing timing chain broke and two cylinders have no compression. The shop called the manufacturer of the timing chain and they are puzzled as well about the timing chain breaking so soon after being repaired. Something in the engine is causing extreme harmonics and/or vibration inside the engine and causing excessive force on the timing chain tensioner and guide. However, new parts simply don't break like this if everything is copacetic under the hood.

The keys don't stay in the ignition

Vehicle continues to hesitate and misfire upon startup. Obd code p303 for cylinder #3 misfire. After a few minutes, the problem goes away. Doesn't happen every time, and in no particular weather conditions or temperatures. May be dangerous if pulling out of a parking area or some other location onto a street, as vehicle will buck and refuse to accelerate for a few moments. My research has found that this appears to be a common problem, and recalls were issued in older models but not this particular year so far.

This is a dangerous and expensive situation and i would like to have it remedied as soon as possible.thank you,[xxx][xxx]valley stream, ny 11581information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

'takata recall' i was going down a ramp onto the freeway and the rpm numbers would go up but once it hit the number 3 the car stopped accelerating.

I've had this car since 2011. There is one problem after another. I replaced the ac control module 3 times, replaced the evaporator sensor that was defective, replaced the tipm kit, etc. On friday, july 29 the car broke down and i was told the 8th cylinder stopped working. I took it to the jeep dealer in placentia for repairs. I paid $2400. On august 5th i was told i could pick up the car and the mechanic came and showed me how the cylinder was defective and along with the manager and two other technicians assured me that i would not have a problem again for years to come. Upon leaving the dealership i called and told them that the car still does not sound right, i was told to give it time. On august 5th i was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden the car's dashboard's lights started going off, the steering wheel blocked and the car slowly stopped. I could not start the car again. I was able to manage to bring the car almost to the wall and totally felt that my life was in danger. I had it towed to the dealer. The towing driver when he reached under the car to hook it up puled the glove and showed me that the transmission oil is all over the engine. At the jeep dealer i was given me a rental and took the car in. To this day, i am still driving the rental, i have no answer about the car and even though they will be fixing it, i will no longer feel safe in that vehicle.what do i do? this is ridiculous.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the engine stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,500.

I was drivingapproximately 70mph on interstate 75 southbound wednesday may 17, 2017. All of sudden my several lights on dashboard came on - engine light, abs, electric throttle warning light. My jeep started decelerating very quickly. I put on my hazards as i tried to pull over to side of road. Once i was on side of interstate, i pushed on gas pedal and engine revved but the car didn't accelerate and speedometer stayed at 0. I immediately called tow service and brought car to ferman jeep in lutz, florida. At cost of 400.00 for inspection, i was told engine chain guide failed causing my timechain to snap and shredded my oil pump and bent crank shaft. That was just the initial analysis. And ferman wanted to authorize an additional 400.00 to look further into engine. At that point, we discussed how much repairs were going to be and our service advisor said at that point a new engine would be best. I am very concerned because a quick internet search reveals 5.7liter hemi engine recall for dodge and chyrsler cars from 2009-2012 for this exact reason.my service advisor said the jeep hemi engine was same engine as dodge and chrysler engine involved in recall. I was at same mileage range that people discussed on internet within that recall and driving at same speed and driving automatic transmission. I contacted jeep customer service and was told they couldn't help me but would make a note for safety reasons. I really feel nhtsa needs to explore that jeep should extend recall to grand cherokee engines at 5.7 hemi.

Very unsafe

Timing chain broke at highway speed, no power, had to coast to side of road. Engine required replacement.

I was driving on i20 in atlanta.in the left lane, of at least 6 lanes at 70 mph. My engine just stopped in heavy, high speed traffic. I moved to the right side of the road as car flew by, flashing lights and blowing their horns and was nearly rear ended several times. The jeep was hauled to a dealer where i was told that my timing chain had broken and had severely damaged my engine with 95,760 miles showing. I love my jeep. It is in excellentcond. And has always been maintained it to the highest standards, 3,000 mile mobile 1 oil changes, along with all other recommended services. Chrysler has known about this timing chain problem and recalled other, same year models including the 300, the charger and the challenger all with the same engine. The recall is # p01. Had i known about this problem i would have had the recommended repairs done that would have cost a few hundred dollars for parts and 5 to 6 hours labor. Instead, i had to pay over $7,000. For the engine repairs. About as much as my car is actually work!yes this was expensive but more important was the"where and how" this happened. It was a very dangerous high speed, traffic situation that could have easily produced a huge, rear ending tragic accident and lose of property and/or lives. Why did chrysler not warn owners of the 2010 jeep grand cherokee with this dangerous, explosive engine problem that they knew was going to happen? their recall included some 50,000 other vehicles with the same engine. Were their lives more valuable than mine? shame on chrysler and whatever reasoning they used to put me and the other owners of the 2010 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.7 at risk.if it hasn't happened to date, someone is going to be killed due to this dangerous situation that needs to be addressed by chrysler.please help my to force chrysler to include these cars in their recall. These owners are in danger!

See attached letter dated 25 march 2010 ( should read 25 march 2011)briefly summarized: the vehicle engine will speed up to between 4000 and 5000 rpm's for no reason and the only way to get this to stop is to pull over to the side of the road and shut the engine off and restart it.this has happened numerous times and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed.

Shortly after i purchased the vehicle, as i was driving, the car would loose all ability to accelerate.it was like the car would drop into neutral for no apparent reason.the only way to correct this was to pull over and restart the car.i contacted the dealership, but was told they couldn't do anything about it unless the issue was occurring while in the service department.since this issue could potentially create injury to me and cars behind me, i continued to alert the dealership service department on each event.they asked me to keep a log of when it would happen, but after doing that for several months, there appeared to be no pattern.it could happen any time, under any weather conditions, at any speed, no matter if i was driving 10 minutes or 1 hour.the dealership where i purchased my car closed a couple of months after my purchase, so i brought the car to another jeep dealer that kept it for over a week, and made some corrections of what they thought might be causing the problem.i was lulled into a false security because after a few thousand miles, it happened again.now, i can go several thousand miles, then out of the blue, just when i think i'm safe, it happens again.they can't seem to isolate the problem to do a repair that will last.the vehicles behind me don't know my car is coasting...this could cause a rear end collision.this is especially dangerous if i'm on a highway.i may have to cross several lanes of speeding traffic to get to the shoulder to restart the car.when i take the car in, they do a diagnostic, but restarting the car resets the defaults to normal.nothing ever shows up.very dangerous!!!!

Engine fire began while driving vehicle. Began as smoke escaping from under hood. Stopped and turned off engine immediately within 20 seconds/100 feet. Fire began in engine compartment within 2 minutes. Total loss of vehicle. Vehicle is a 2010 model, four months old, less than 5000 miles. Dealer denies any responsibility for product liability.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that his vehicle was equipped with a backup camera but the picture was of such poor quality and out of focus. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the camera but the picture was still of poor quality. The manufacturer was contacted and a claim was filed. The contact was also told that a representative would give him a return call. The failure and current mileages were 6,000.

Defective back-up camera in 2010 jeep grand cherokee.

The recirculation gear broke, causing the air conditioning system to never switch into recirculation mode. It is an ongoing problem with many years of these vehicles. I have personally replaced it once, but it has broken again. I do have a broken half of the gear in my possession.

While driving my turn signal is shorting out, some lights remain on while car is turned off and not moving, drained battery, and window control on the drivers panel that controls passenger window does not work.

After filling gas tank, fuel gushed out. Dealer replaced restricter, worked for 2 fill ups, then the 3rd fill up gushed again.took it back to dealer and was told they needed to replace the entire gas tank at a cost $1200!as i've just read of other incidents with the 2010 liberty, a recall should be issued. Currently there are none.however, this problem also occurredwith a friend's 2008 chrsyler aspen, and chrysler did issue a recall.

The remote start and door unlock key may (or may not) work when activated the first time for a 2010 jeep grand cherokee.takes several tries for the doors to unlock.failure of this remote is random and inconsistent.no action to date with the dealer due to random part failure.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the key suddenly slipped out of the ignition switch however, the engine did not power off. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and was informed that the win module was defective. No repairs were performed on the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 13v175000 (electrical system , power train). The failure mileage was 72,000.

July 8, 2019 i was driving my 2010 jeep grand cherokee laredo on a busy highway in a construction area of the highway when jeep startedlosing speed as ifit had switched itself into neutral. I was in very heavy traffic when this happened.i managed to get jeep out of the way of heavy traffic behind me. I waitedabout five minutesthen turned the win key on and jeep started up and i drove less than a mile jeep started losing speed again barely moving. Managed to coast off to side of road. Waited again for about five minutes turn key on jeep started up again.drove about two miles same thing happened again. Let jeep sit for a few more minutes at which time i was thinking this jeep is a death trap waiting to happen.started jeep up again and this time i managed to get home without any more loss of speed as if jeep was in neutral mode. I am now veryuneasy each time i drive my jeep worrying if it will do this again.very dangerous situation to be in.

In december 2019 i received a recall notice v51 for an system update to the powertrain (power control module). On 1/30/20 i took my beloved jeep to putnum chryslr jeep in burlingame, ca to perform the update.on 4/24/20 i went to perform a star smog and i failed due to obd11 not ready (oxygen sensors). I couldn't believe it. I take exceptional care for my car and don't hesitate to take it to the mechanic and was suprised. Thereafter, i took it back to and it stated the same thing obd11 not ready. On 6/10/20 i took it to another smog place and again failed due to obd11 not ready. I then had the system reset. Drove it for over 40 miles and took it to the same place for smog and again obd11 not ready. I spoke to bar and they can't figure this out. I now have to deal with the ref and they noted that they can pass me due to the amount of money i've spent trying to correct this obd11 not ready. I even replaced the upstream oxygen sensors for no reason. I had a diagostic performed and there's nothing wrong with my car. What are you doing about this oxygen sensor issue?

Unintentional shifting of the transfer case into the neutral position.the vehicle rolled back.this occurred in a parking lot and at a home driveway.

'takata recall' i was going down a ramp onto the freeway and the rpm numbers would go up but once it hit the number 3 the car stopped accelerating.

Vehicle shifted from neutral and accelerated striking the side of the garage. Parking brakes would not engage, causing significant damage to the vehicle and garage. Air bags did not deploy. I believe this accident was caused by a pending jeep recall. Nhtsa's # 13v175000.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee 4x4. The contact stated received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train) and stated that the remedy part remained unavailable beyond a reasonable time frame. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. While driving 40 mph, the engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle inadvertently shifted into neutral. Within 15 seconds, the vehicle shifted back into drive. The contact stated that the failure was identical to nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (power train, electrical system). The dealer (neuwirth motors in wilmington, nc) was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

I had the n23 recall addressed in late 2013 on my 2010 jeep grand cherokee laredo 5.7l in order to eliminate the chance for it to shift into neutral randomly.since this recall was performed, i no longer have the ability to activate my 4wd-low option and instead am greeted with "service 4wd" message.at first i thought it was just a glitch but after it kept occurring, i finally took it to be looked at in february 2014.i was told that i need a transfer case actuator and that they were on back order.for the next 3 months, i checked in with the dealer every other week only to be told that there was still no update on the part and they were still on back order.not once was i ever told that this issue is likely related to the n23 recall.during the last call, i was told that chrysler had rolled out a new software fix and that i need to bring in my jeep (i was also told that the actuator order had been cancelled per chrysler direction).i've been following a thread on a jeep user forum that has clearly laid out this issue and the fact that there is sill no known fix, only an apparent cover up by chrysler and all parties involved.in the last 3 months since i first formally went in to have this looked at, no one has called me or made an effort to resolve it.this is unacceptable.i have paid a lot of money and put in a lot of time with this vehicle only to have key features not work.this in itself is a safety hazard.if i were to get stuck and need 4w-low and wasn't aware that it wasn't available, we would have bigger problems.i'm currently scheduled to take it in again on 5/31/14 to have the "new fix" applied and i have low expectations.chrysler needs to address this issue and start rolling out new parts that aren't flashed with the n23 and then develop a new n23 that doesn't affect the 4w-low setting.

Very unsafe

After recall n23 was applied message service 4 wheel drive system comes on and vehicle will not shift into 4 wheel drive low range.jeep dealers do not have a fix.

The contact stated that the seat belt failed to unlock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the seat belt was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Seat warmers not working then car battery keeps draining and dying. Noticed seat warmers where not working first when driving then when parked when we shut off the vehicle and lock it.sets overnight and then vehicle acts completely dead will not unlock, turn on, lights barely on.

Two months after purchasing my used 2010 jeep grand cherokee laredo with about 14,000 miles, my brakes began making an intermittent squeaking noise. When i took my vehicle to the authorized jeep dealership, i was told that they could not recreate the noise and that nothing was wrong with my brakes. Over the next few months, the squeaking noise became more frequent. The next time i took it in to the same dealership, i was told that this is a common, known issue with chrysler brakes related to humidity and the use of newer non-asbestos brake pads but that there was nothing wrong with my brakes and the warranty on them had expired after my last visit. This time they sprayed something on the them which worked for a few weeks. The next time i went back to the same dealership with this issue, they turned the rotors which also did nothing to get rid of the noise even though i was charged $180. Since the dealership continued to test my brakes regularly at my insistence and stated that nothing was wrong over the years that followed, i dealt with the noise. I finally replaced the brakes, including adding ceramic brake pads, for $1,200 two months ago. The squeaking noise has not reoccurred as of yet.

I was in the service station of the local dealer for some repair work in ankara-turkey on the 7th of november 2013. After completing their work, the technician brought the car to the outside area of the service facility to give the car back to me. Before getting out of the car the technician has pulled the hand brake lever and we heard some kind of a metal fracture sound. After that sound the lever seemed to be normal in appearance but it lost its functionality at all. The service people told me that it was because of the fracture of the clock spring arrangement of the hand brake mechanism. They have proposed to fix it out of charge. But i didn't give permission, because the fixing procedure requires the removal of the driver seat and main interior console of the vehicle. From that date on i'm not using my car if it is not so urgent. To my knowledge, hand brake is not only a parking brake, it is an emergency brake as well. To my knowledge the hand brake lever has to withstand to a pulling force of 400 newtons. During my incident, the technician didn't pull the lever with an aggressive and strong manner. He pulled it with a moderate pulling afford. I wanted to share my experience for sake of thousands of other owners. I think it worth a technical investigation to determine the fracture threshold value for the hand brake mechanism of my vehicle. I'm suspicious about this kind of a problem may be systematically valid for the remaining series of my car, if so it may require an official recall.

While driving the car and braking the pedal will drop about half way and then recover to normal use. I have owned the car for about 4 years and it has happened at least five times startling the driver. Thecar has been to a few mechanics and they have found nothing wrong. I beleive it could be related to the 2011 recall for boosters in jeeps.

Unintentional shifting of the transfer case into the neutral position.the vehicle rolled back.this occurred in a parking lot and at a home driveway.

It started over bump in the road then brake pedal would go all the way down not stopping correctly now it like that all the time while in motion or at a halt. Turning key in ignition causes a stall like chocking sound and does not turn on the car. Need to repeat this step a few times beforevehicle turns on while at a stand still.

Tipm or front control module shutting off car while driving, turning off airbags and not letting abs system function properly.the engine has shut down several times while i've been driving since i purchased this vehicle recently

Vehicle shifted from neutral and accelerated striking the side of the garage. Parking brakes would not engage, causing significant damage to the vehicle and garage. Air bags did not deploy. I believe this accident was caused by a pending jeep recall. Nhtsa's # 13v175000.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact was driving approximately 20 mph when the brake was depressed and a loud squeaking noise emitted with the brake warning light illuminating intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four times for the similar failure. The technician stated the constant squeaking noise was a normal occurrence. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,272.

The front brakes on my 2010 jeep grand cherokee have already began to squeak.i had the vehicle serviced at the dealership (brake service) and was informed that the rotors needed resurfaced.i find this completely unacceptable being a newer vehicle with average annual mileage.the dealership offered only the rotor service and told me the rotors would not be replaced by warranty.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that a crack developed within the steering wheel. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Updated 3/3/15 the consumer was advised the steering wheel and airbag models were no longer being manufactured. Updated 6/17/2015

My interior passenger door handle broke while opening the door to exit the vehicle.

After a minor accident, i took my car to the authorized service centre of the local dealer for the rear bumper replacement. I was in the workshop while the technicians were removing the damaged bumper of my car. When they have removed the bumper completely, i have noticed that there was a rectangular flexible patch attached on the side surface of my vehicle's body by some kind of adhesive. The size of the patch was approximately 150 mm x 300 mm x 2 mm (including the adhesive layer) and it's location was on the rear right hand side of the vehicle body. This patch was out of sight when the bumper was installed. The patch was being used to close a rectangular hole which was extending in to the passenger cabin. This hole was approximately 20 cm above the exit of the exhaust tailpipe. Because of it's location, it is very likely for the hole to be exposed to exhaust emissions directly. The patch closing the hole didn't seem to be so strong. This self adhesive patch must be under the action of vibrations and the diversity of environmental conditions all the time. So, this situation is likely to cause serious.and fatal risks for the passengers as a result of the exhaust gases entry in to the cabin incase the patch is torn or damaged somehow. I have informed the service authorities about the situation and they told me that there were two symmetrically located holes which were machined for the cabin air extractors but their designers preferred to use only one extractor for each vehicle. The unused hole was closed by a self adhesive patch. I believe that this serious defect must be investigated for possible modes of failure and consequences.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, he inadvertently engaged the rear liftgate release button and the liftgate opened while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the vehicle was designed to function in the manner in which it did. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The failure and current mileage was 66,679.

Considerable amount ofoutside air enters in to the cabin of my vehicle through the holes on the front door audio speaker covers. I realized this defect during a trip eight weeks ago. My speed was around 75 mph and the outside temperature was well below 0 degrees celsius. Windows and the sunroof were all closed and the air conditioner was set to 25 degrees celsius and the interior air circulation mode was selected. Cabin air was quite warm. Then i have adjusted my sunroof panel to a tilted position to have a very small opening at the rear end of the sunroof while frontal part was fully closed. My intention was to hear the sound of the flowing air over the roof because i knew that outside air does not enter in to the vehicle from that tiny opening at the rear end of the sunroof panel. Some time later i felt cold on my feet and knees. I have checked the source of the cold air and found out that it was coming through the front door speaker covers. I have informed the local dealer and the authorized service department about this situation but they told me that there was nothingthey can do to solve this problem, because the problem was not due to the wear, dislocation or tear of a sealing material, it was due to the structuraldesign of the vehicle and according to them, it was normal. In order to measure the amount of the outside air coming through the speakers i have placed two big size garbage bags to driver and passenger side speakers and i have calculated that air was rushing in to the the cabin at a volume flow rate of about 30 liters/sec from each speaker. This value is comparable with the air coming through the normal air conditioner ventilation grilles of the vehicle. I believe that; this amount of outside air, which is unfiltered, unheated and some times highly polluted with traffic emissions will inevitably causehealth risks especially for the children.

I purchased my vehicle new from autoland in 2/10 springfield, nj.i have 14,652 miles on it and have always kept it in the garage. I took it out the garage and parked it in front of the garage doors.now when it rains water comes inside my car all on the sides and front where the tabs are embedded. Chyrsler tells me i am out of warranty for my 2010 jeep cherokee larado.its a disgrace and dangerous water hitting you when you drive.they chrysler even wanted me to pay for a full diagnosis of my car.i told them its a manufacturer defect not mechanical so they refuse to even look at it unless i pay.its very hazardous and i will not even drive un less clear weather.it snowed and when it melted the same thing.i have been ripped off. I had to replace wipers several times also.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the front driver side tire went flat. The contact added air to the tire and was unable to do so because the valve chord was missing and had seeped into the tire.the dealer was notified and offered to repair the failure at no cost to the contact. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage was 28,300.

The key fobs require excessive pressure to insert into and remove from the ignition.

Key fobs do not last long enough; this is unacceptable; manufacturers should be made responsible for designing a major element of vehicle function as this to last the life of the vehicle as any normal key would operate.

The air on the passenger side does not heat up. Even set on the highest temperature, the air coming out is cold and a clicking sound comes from near the glove box.

My interior passenger door handle broke while opening the door to exit the vehicle.

Transmission - not shifting or sluggish shifting from 1st to 2ndtaking turns delayed shifting when on freeway does not shift past 1st gear happens from dead stop or when taking turn at 10 mph is this a recall issue? or what is the cause this has been happening intermittently since october 2017

The ignition switch won't start my jeep put key in and nothing no clicks no trying to start nothing then after sometime it will start then again it won't start

On 4/30/19 12.49 pm i was driving the vehicle on alton parkway going north, suddenly thecar accelerated went out of control, hit the curve , crashed against the traffic signal pole, on east yale loop, in the city of irvine. The vehicle was total loss and caught on fire. I was severely injured with broken ribs and sternum. Paramedics took me to the hospital for emergency treatment. I was hospitalized for four days and took six weeks to recover partly with the help of home care services.i was the sole driver of the vehicle, none else was injured. Police impounded the vehicle for investigation, removed black box. I have the police report. *dt'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The contact owns a 2010 jeep grand cherokee. While attempting to park the vehicle, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into several outdoor lighting structures at a neighboring residence. A police report was filed. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.

While traveling on the express way at a steady speed of 70 mph, without cruise control, the accelerator pedal moved suddenly away from the foot and stayed in the full gas position accelerating the car to well over 80 mph. Attempts to return the pedal to a safe position failed. There was no floor mat interference of any kind and cruise control was not active that day because of excessive truck traffic. Only extraordinary braking slowed the car to allow squeezing between trucks on the right lane and eventually coming to a stop on the free way shoulder. After letting things cool down for a few minutes and restarting the engine, things appeared to have returned to normal and the trip home could be completed without incident. The car was not driven subsequently until a local dealership was able to investigate the event. Nothing was found except the on-board computer displays the code indicating that both the accelerator and brake systems were active at the same time.- at the moment we are at our second dealership and are under advisement from chrysler to continue the investigation. However nothing different has been determined so far. We are unwilling to use the car due to the imminent threat of a recurrence of the unknown phenomenon.

My vehicle's cruise control (cc) lever has functions like; on-off, accelerate, decelerate, set, resume, cancel. The speed is set to the desired values by pressing the lever up (accelerate) and down (decelerate). When the lever is released to its neutral position, the set speed is maintained until the next interruption. To deactivate the cc without erasing the set speed, driver has to tap on the brake pedal or pull the cc lever toward himself. In order to erase the set speed and deactivate the cc at the same time, the driver has to switch the cc to off position.the nonconformity regarding my vehicle's cc system is unintended deactivation of cc without pulling the lever toward myself or tapping the brake pedal. The unintended deactivation occurs without any warning. Deactivation can only be realized if i, somehow, notice that the vehicle slows down by itself orpressing the lever up becomes non operative. This problem does not occur if i press the cc lever up and down with rapid moves, but if i move the lever up slowly or if i hesitate to accelerate the vehicle for even less then a second and hold the cc lever at a position between the "neutral" and "accelerate", it happens all the time. When it occurs, any attempt to accelerate the vehicle by using the cc lever is vein, unless you realize the situation and reactivate the cc system again. Other than the unintentional slow down of the vehicle without any warning, an other consequence of this nonconformity is the uncontrolled acceleration of the vehicle up to it's previous set speed. When the driver realizes the situation and reactivates the cc, the vehicle comes to the previous set speed almost with a full throttle acceleration. I have informed the local dealer and the authorized service department about the situation but they have claimed that it was my fault to move the lever slowly and move it with hesitations.

Vehicle shifted from neutral and accelerated striking the side of the garage. Parking brakes would not engage, causing significant damage to the vehicle and garage. Air bags did not deploy. I believe this accident was caused by a pending jeep recall. Nhtsa's # 13v175000.

'takata recall' i was going down a ramp onto the freeway and the rpm numbers would go up but once it hit the number 3 the car stopped accelerating.

The recirculation gear broke, causing the air conditioning system to never switch into recirculation mode. It is an ongoing problem with many years of these vehicles. I have personally replaced it once, but it has broken again. I do have a broken half of the gear in my possession.

Turned jeep on placed in reverse and rear window exploded out ward car was still in garage not moving at time of incident.

When getting off the highways down ramp at 40 mph the tire valve broke off the tire and went flat instantly. This also happen on my dodge ram 2009 last year so this issue is dangerous. I was lucky because on both vehicles it was the back tire. Someone could loose control if it was the front tire.the nuts that hold the tire valve in corrode very quickly and break off.

While travelling on the interstate at 75 mph the valve stem exploded.the tire lost all of its air within about 10 seconds.the aluminium nut on the outside that holds the valve stem and tire pressure monitor onto the wheel had broken apart.upon further inspection of the other valve stems i found that 2 of the remaining three were also plagued with cracked nuts.

Aluminum valve stem corroded to the point of failure on the interstate.was going 80mph when tire stem blew.fortunately got vehicle to a stop and under control.this is the third aluminum stem that has done this on my 2010 grand cherokee and with no warning.

The wheel lug nut 'caps' fall off or become loose and impair the proper function of the lug nuts when changing wheels. Many instances have resulted in stripping these lug nuts and needing to replace them for proper function. I consider this a severe safety defect in manufacturing design. The car companies should be held responsible for designing basic auto safety elements that endure the life of the vehicle.

Driving at highway speed, steering wheel began gradual pull to the left.shortly thereafter, lf tire went flat.pulled to shoulder and replaced tire.upon examination, valve stem found missing.tire dealer dismounted tire and found stem/tpm assembly inside the tire.retaining collar apparently failed.dealer also found a second valve stem sufficiently corroded to require replacement.
