I hit a guardrail at 70 mph on an interstatewith the front right bumper and rolled the vehicle without any airbags deploying.

In motion; check engine light, sway at disconnect, shifter, speed control, no bus, service airbag, cooling fan began racing, shifted out of drive to neutral , fuel gauge malfunction reading empty, red light over temp gauge went on , erratic steering and braking ; very unnerving, went in to be fixed and after 2 1/2 weeks i received it back last tuesday april 27th, and yesterday may 1st check engine light came back on , this time windshield wipers turned on and can't turn off , abs light on again.

Since purchase this vehicle has had loose and unresponsive steering. It currently has 1600 miles and has been in the shop multiple times. I am told the steering gear needs to be replaced under a campaign however there is no decal as of yet. Jeep does not have the required parts in stock and i am being told it may be months until a repair is available for my vehicle. I also have a problem with the u connect system crashing which also controls most of the interior of the vehicle and renders most of those items like the hvac inoperable until the system is reset. Both of these issues are constantly present. The steering issue is a nussinace below 40mph and nearly uncontrollable at highway speeds. I feel completely unsafe in the vehicle. The steering wheel sits approx 15-20 degrees to the left to go straight and you can move the wheel the same distance to the right before it reacts. To maintain a straight line you must constantly over correct the wheel.

Truck had very low power from day 1.start/stop functionality mpcb short. Engine shacking and making noises. Engine burns oil. Trucks fuel economy is worse then a v12!i was getting 14 miles per gallon. The steering sucks it tilts to the right.truck feels very unsafe to steer. The steering radius on ir is terrible. Trucks engine temperature goes up when is idling. Starter was staying on and hard to start. Engine would stall crossing the street. Engine stalled in the highway going 65 mph.it generated 10 check engine codes.the chassis of the truck is not completely welded trough. There is gaps all over it.over all the truck flimsy and unstable. The 4x4 was making noises.my oil would get black after 3k miles of driving it.if i was to leave truck on for it to get warm or cold any body could jump in and steal it, even if i have the keys. Truck started having issues at 7 k milesac didnā€™t blow verycold air.hot air from outside will come in the pit. At last truck broke down it stalled in the middle of a intersection, or would not no into neutral to push it out of the road. I was trying to start it but the stater was very sluggish and after 3 times of me pushing on the start button it started smoking, when i saw this i panicked and trying to make it stop from starting but the starter kept going and going until it kept smoking after 5 minutes it stoped, i open the hood and it smelled like a electrical fire, i was going to call the fire department but it ceased smoking, so i stopped and somehow got it to a safe place. Truck didnā€™t want to start ever since. I never did any upgrades so that i would not void my warranty, i always did my oil changes and did my tire rotations. Never overloaded my truck or took it off-road. I never put a big traileron it.i always washed it and took the best care of it as possible.mind you this all happened at 34 thousand miles and i am under new car warranty, even after all this i would still buy another jeep gladiator

The vehicle radio will experience a very loud popping sound through the base radio speakers as it appears to short out while at start up or driving. This is very startling and distracting to the driver and may result in an accident.the radio also loses time often, the vehicle has been to the dealership at least 13 times for this. Jeep cares advised me to get tsb ( technician service bulletin) # 08-015-21. This update was suppose to fix " everything " this was not the case. When at start up the radio went to a black screen and locked up for nearly a week. The next week it began to work again and then while backing out of my driveway the loud pop appeared again as the radio shorted out as it has been. A video of the locked up radio and information was sent to jeep cares who dismissed these events saying to just take it to the dealership when it occurres.this is impossible as it only last about a minute when it shorts out with the startling pop sound. Jeep has not been able to fix these base radios since 2018 and now in 2021 my jeep gladiator is still unchanged, the supposed tsb fix has fixed nothing.the sudden startling loud sound has jarred me enough to nearly go out of my lane while on the highway as it is comparatively loud as a rifle being fired from the speakers. Please look into this safety concern as jeep seems to be ignoring customers concerns on this issue. Thank you for your time.

Steering; scary to drive on hwy. Manual transmission feels like it grinds clutch related i thought that was normal cause it was brand new and not broken in. Not so problem still there. Back up camera doesn't always engage i wonder if the manual shifting has any flaws. Too much crap for such a high price. When can i return. Lmk.

Base jeep gladiator radio will short out with a loud pop without warning randomly while in operation. The sound is very loud that emits from the jeeps speakers and startles you enough you could mistake it for hitting something or cause an accident. When it happened the first time i nearly went into the next lane not expecting to be blaster with sound. After the short sound the radio dies, when it comes backon it has lost all settings such as time, stations, phone pairing. This problem is widespread and largely seems to be ignored by jeep. They replaced my radio when it shorted at the dealership once. New radio does the same exact thing, was told the firmware is most likely defective. This has been going on in the wrangler as well since 2018.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the speedometer displayed erroneous information indicating an inaccurate speed. While traveling approximately 65 mph, the speedometer reading was 83 mph. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer elk groove jeep located at 8575 laguna grove dr, elk grove, ca 95757 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,200.

Steering wanders left to rightstart stop battery won't chargerear defroster 1/3 works

On my 2020 jeep gladiator rubicon ess and check engine light came on at 249 miles. Check engine light code was p0300 multiple cylinder misfire. Took it to the dealer monroe dodge and they replaced the battery for ess and did a recommended pcm flash for the check engine light. I pulled out of the dealership and check engine light was immediately back on followed by ess light. Dealer immediately hooked up the scanner and they said the p0300 multiple cylinder misfire is back on. Dealer is saying they have to tear into the engine. This seems to be a problem with these vehicles that nhtsa should investigate for manufacturing defect. Seems to be only with the engines made in saltillo south engine plant in mexico.

Multiple cylinder misfires. Engine running with vehicle in motion. First occurrence at 160 miles on brand new vehicle. Check engine came on and auto stop/start warning messages and light appeared. Took to dealer. They cleared engine misfire code and made no repair. Check engine light and auto stop/start light came back on when underway on same day that vehicle was picked up from dealership. Took back to dealership. Said it was multi cylinder engine misfire. No diagnosis of cause determined nor repair plan identified. Vehicle has been in dealership shop almost five weeks now with no plan for remedying the situation. Jeep gladiator forum includes reports from over30 similar situations with vehicles out of service. Response from fca virtually nonexistent.

Auto start/stop unavailable warning light on cold start. Rough engine idle until up to temperature. Check engine light on next cold start. Code p0300 (multiple cylinder misfire). This had happened several times. This is my third time taking it in and now they are tearing down the engine on a truck with 1000 miles on it.every occurance was cold start on engine and after putting truck into gear at low speed.

Jeep wanders all over the road with very little steering play in the wheel. It does not matter if you are going 40 or 80mph, it wanders. My wife drove it the other day and said she felt like everyone would think she was drunk. I took this into the dealer to have it checked and they said it was withing manufacturers spec. All steering and suspension components were tight according to their diagnosis. They did not see an issue and this wandering was normal.it is almost impossible to keep it on the road with gusty winds at 60mph. We also have experienced an ac related issue where the ac will be blowing cold, then start to smell a warm musty smell and heat will billow out from under the dash on both drivers and passenger feet. Opening up the glovebox seems to allow the heat to pour out and then the jeep will return to normal comfort cooling. Does not matter if the vehicle is on ac, auto ac or reciculation. Very noticeable when driving long trips for several hours. Speed does not matter, but appears to happen more when driven for several hours.

While drivingfor about an hour doesn't matter what speed it is all of the sudden there is hot air coming in from the front feet space by the pedals, you can feel it in passenger side also. ( ac is on and blowing cold air and the recirculate button is on) upper vent blow cold air while this happens. I had taken it to dealership to take a look at it but the computer doesn't show anything so it has not been fixed.in all the years i have own a other vehiclesi had never experienced anything like this so this is not normal and very uncomfortable when you are wearing open toe shoes.i askeddealership to drive it so they can experience so they will take a look at it again when the other recall part comes in. I notice it since the first week i took ownership.

Starting at just over 100 miles my vehicle started displaying a electronic start/stop systems errors and the check engine light came one.the cel was caused by engine misfires and show code p0300.i took the vehicle to the dealership and was told that fca was aware of the problem and it was well know, but no fix is available. The misfires cause engine stumble and inability to accelerate as expected when pulling out or crossing oncoming traffic.the nhtsa may want to investigate as fca does not have an answer.this may be a defect in manufacturing or software and seems to be leading to outright engine failures for models with more miles.photo attached showing the dashboard warnings that continue to occur.

Engine light had been on since a few days after purchase.it's been in the shop for 3 days now, and service department at dealership was told, by the engineers, not to release it until they heard back from them.i understand that there are two other jeeps at same dealership with same problem.it was purchasedon july 25, and within a week the light came on every time if drove it

2020 jeep gladiator at 1760 miles numerous auto start stop failures with check engine light and p300 code (engine misfire). Took to the dealer and was told bad gas and they reset the code. At 1900 miles after numerous auto stop start failures check engine light back on with noticeable misfires on cold start.dealer changed coils and plugs.at 2300 miles check engine light back on with noticeable misfires. Dealer changed egr valve and did a software update.at 2850 miles check engine light back on. Dealer did another software update.2 days and 50 miles later check engine light on with noticeable misfires.currently at the dealer for 10 days later with no fix in sight.many gladiators have this misfire problem.

I entered the highway and my power steering light came on. I then lost power steering. Immediately got off at the next exit and pulled into the gas station. As i exited my vehicle i observed smoke coming from the hood vents. The engine bay then became fully engulfed in flames and the fire department responded to extinguish the fire. Vehicle is total loss.

I have had the jeep gladiator since november 2019 and it has had multipleengine issues on three different occasions leading up to what i was told was "blown head gaskets".it started after just a few months with less than 1000 miles with the check engine light coming on. The engine would also run rough. They believed it was bad fuel. At approximately 8 months the same thing happened at around 3500 miles.this time the said it was a bad cylinder. Now at 14 months and at around 8000 miles my high temp light came on out of no where and smoke appeared under the hood. I had previously joked with them that they had just disabled the check engine light as that never came on. I was only going about 20 miles per hour and pulled into a gas station.megee motors has full records of the issues.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, oil leaked from the vehicle and left a puddle underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to hilltop chrysler jeep dodge ram located at (3291 auto plaza drive, richmond, ca 94806 (510) 243-6100) where the oil pan gasket was replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 600. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. While driving approximately 65 mph, the floor panel on the front driver's side became so hot that it burned the bottom of the driver's foot. The carpet on the floor panel was removed and there was a warning not to remove the carpet because the exhaust system runs under that side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the warning label was not visible unless the carpet was removed. The vehicle was taken to lithia jeep dodge (2229 king ave w, billings, mt 59102) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was performing according to standards. The manufacturer was contacted via email. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

I purchased the jeep on 12/30/2019.it had 1,200 miles when the incident occurred. The vehicle was in motion when 4wd and abs warning light came on to indicate failure.i hit the brakes and nothing happened.the vehicle did not stop and caused an accident when i could not stop at a red light.*dtconsumer is currently waiting on diagnosis and no repairs have been made. I was driving, accelerating into heavy traffic, and just about to go under an overpass (sunny day), when the forward collision system activated and hard-braked me to a stop, nearly causing an accident with the vehicle behind me.although there was a car in front of me, it was not close and there was no danger of a collision (it was accelerating).worse, no warnings came from the system until it started braking. This has happened several times, always in heavy traffic, and always on a underpass or lower bridge deck.i'm going to have to turn this system off, because i don't want to get rear-ended.my fcs is on the medium setting.

Check engine light came on reporting p018b code.vehicle would not start, then when i did get it started will not accelerate from stop, will not shift into gear above 5th, and mpg drops to 5-8. Dealer replaced fuel pressure sensor and fuel supply line.two days later check engine light came back on with same code.dealer reported that fuel pump needs to be replaced.currently part is on back order and will take 3 weeks to ship.

The contact owned a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, flames were coming from the bed of vehicle towards to the cab. The contact was able to pull over the vehicle and jump out.the contact stated the fire was extinguish by the fire department. A fire department report was filed which stated the fire started underneath the bed of vehicle. The insurance adjuster deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact stated local dealer and manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. A case was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 12,900.*dt*ln*dt

The vehicle starts with the front suspension moving uncontrollably from side to side and yanks your steering out of control ( death wobble)did it 6 times to the point that i can not trust the vehicle because it goes out of steering control both front tires move uncontrollably side to side like if both where flat and yanks you side to side takes you out of road

Lose drive power

Rear locker engaged while towing a winnebago hike 170s travel trailer on the interstate in 2h at 70 mph. The rear locker should not engage unless the vehicle is in 4low. The rear locker would not disengage resulting in a road-side assistance call and tow to dealership.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. When the contact attempted to engage the select speed control, the vehicle made a metal to metal grinding noise coming from the front driver's side. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,500.

Very concerned about the clutch pressure plate recall, i am paying a lot of money for this jeep that i dont feel safe driving as it can catch on fire. The fact that there is no fix right now is ridiculous. I have driven jeeps my whole life and never had a life threatening issue like this. If there is no solid solution i will never get another fca again

Driving on interstate 70 with approx speed of 65. Caught on fire. Flames and lots of smoke coming from under jeep. Smoke entered cab. What i think is transmission fluid left trail on interstate. I have photo.*dt*dt

Unsure of what the issue is but have occasional issues with clutch and steering is very loose.

Around late february the vehicle started making a noise from the front drive shaft area.we took the vehicle to the dealer in denison iowa 3/4/20 and they told us the front drive shafts were defective and the parts are back ordered fro 4-6 weeks.they told us it was safe to drive but after they took it apart it started doing it more frequently and when it made the noise it pulled hard to the right and seemed unsafe.we contacted fca customer assistance and they told us they would have their parts team locate the required parts.it has now been 41 days and they still do not have the parts, and they are telling us they do not know when they will have the parts.they approved rental car but due to the expense we returned it after 1 month.we can only get the money we have paid for the rental car after our vehicle is repaired which now seems like another month.we could not afford to pay our monthly car payment plus the rental charges.at this point the vehicle has been sitting in our driveway and is not safe to drive.

I noticed a strong burning smell driving my 2020 jeep gladiator while driving a forest access road in colorado. When i turned the car off and then back on again the car failed to move when put into gear. After multiple attempts - the jeep would go into gear but the wheels never engaged. It was towed from the mountains to the dealer in denver where it was discovered that the clutch was "charred". The jeep had 16,000 miles on it.i have driven manual transmissions my entire life (i am 60 yrs old) and never had a clutch go under 100k on 6 vehicles

There are now 2 recalls on manual transmission clutch failures. Original recall 20v124000 and a new one 21v028000. Both are for catastrophic pressure plate failures for clutch slipping, overheating and fragmenting. What is going to happen to all these pressure plates when the clutch disk wears down over time as is normal for a manual transmission and starts slipping then? it will most likely overheat these pressure plates and cause failure then. If these pressure plates are defective they need to be completely replaced and not just reroute electrical lines and reprogram the software to limit engine torque. Fix the issue!

Death wobble and vibration when vehicle hot in different surfaces like crossing bridgewheels and steering uncontrollable at high speed over 40 mph. Unusual smell inside cabin. This happens on highway after about two hours of driving.

I was driving on the interstate at 70 mph and noticed my rear locker light on my dash and switch. This should be impossible, i do not have a tazer and "fat fingering" the switch in 2h would only cause a message saying you must be in 4l. Anyway, i instinctively hit the all off button and the light started to flash. I headed for the nearest off ramp. When i slowed down, the light went off. I attempted to turn on the locker, and received a message about needing to be in 4lseems like a potential safety issue if one or both of the lockers engage on their own while driving down the road at highway speeds.

I bought a brand new 2020 gladiator not even a month old, 6 speed manual. Vehicle started smoking profusely and was expecting a fire, luckily only burnt clutch smell. Concerned about driving it and its brand new. The truck can either start on fire or explode! this is basically a rolling ticking time bomb. It's in at the dealership now with still no remedy. Fca should buy this back from me. W12 recall pressure plate is only a guess and frankly its [xxx]. The entire transmission needs to be replaced with a more robust and rugged solution that matches jeeps brand.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v028000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

First incident was approaching a turn off into a shopping area, a car was stopped there waiting for traffic as i approached i applied the brakes and the brake pedal went to way down, i didn't have time to recycle brake pedal as it went so far down i was hitting gas pedal, thus causing me to collide. Second incident occurred while driving to town and a strong brake burnt smell was occurring, when i attempted to stop again brake pedal went way down again which this time i had time to regain control from hitting gas pedal and force stop, inspected brakes and front brakes were extremely hot and smoking as if brakes were being constantly applied, i did not feel brakes being applied going down the highway just smell and inspection of front brakes heating up. I called roadside assistance and vehicle was towed to repair station waiting on results. I feel that if not taken care of total brake failure would occur and major accident.

Very sponginess, brake pedal goes to the floor.both when trying to start the vehicle and when in motion on city street or highway.this vehicle has been in to a jeep gladiator dealer, they acknowledged the problem but not fix the brake problems.

During the accident consumer had neck, back, and shoulder injuries. Police report has been filed case [xxx].('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).')

The vehicle is equipped with a forward collision warning system that is designed to both alert of an impending collision and apply brakes, if necessary. The system can be set to: off, alert only or alert w/ emergency braking. The system does not work properly. In fact, it works so in frequently that i took it back to the dealer. They evaluated it for 3 days and found nothing diagnostically wrong. The facts that i can confirm are as follows: occasionally the alert warning sound will chime but the brakes do not activate. I have been unable to ascertain what conditions allow the system to actually activate and work properly. For example, i have had the alert chime when another vehicle was making a right turn in front of me but during that same drive, when a second vehicle makes a similar right turn, the system does not alert me.

The steering has a very excessive amount of "play" in it. Where while driving there seems to be a dead spot or lack of steering response to moving the steering wheel. Especially noticeable on the highway and while towing.the vehicle wanders back and forth across the lane.can become dangerous at times.

My 2020 jeep gladiator requires constant micro corrections from 35 mph and above, even more noticeable at highway speeds of 50+. Aprox 1 inch or more dead spot in steering before i get a reaction to the wheels. I scheduled a service appointment for 12/9 and from what i have been told my dealer is that jeep has no fix for this problem , they have filed a case with fca. I personally wanted it documented with the nhtsa, to force fca to fix this problem, before some one is seriously injured or killed . Vehicle currently only has 1500 miles. Unacceptable for a $45k+ vehicle

The jeep wanders at highway speeds without moving the steering wheel.i have to constantly make corrections just to stay in my lane and out of other lanes of traffic.seems super squirrely when there are higher winds.also, there seems to be a lot of play in the steering wheel meaning that i can turn the wheel an inch/inch and a half and the truck will not respond while driving at say 45mph.not a very fun driving experience especially on longer trips.wife refuses to drive it.i've heard of other people having the same problems and complaining to dealerships, but dealerships say, "it's a jeep and it's supposed to drive this way."very unsafe and it'll be a shame when people start dying from this issue because fca didn't want to fix this.

The steering box has an unacceptable amount of play according to 49 cfr570.60 - steering system.it has more than 2 inches (1 to each side) of play and requires constant adjustment to keep the vehicle going straight.fca has revised the steering box 5 times so far and is attempting to mask it with a steering damper which does not do anything for the lash being out of spec for the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the power steering was loose which caused the vehicle to be difficult to steer. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact reduced the vehicle speed to 50 mph, and the steering operated as designed. The vehicle was taken to bill luke chrysler jeep dodge ram located at 2425 w. Camelback rd, phoenix, az 85015, and the contact was informed that the vehicle operated as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10.

The steering has too much play before actually turning to either left or right. This is very noticeable at highway speeds. This makes the truck wander having to correct it constantly and when hitting the brakes it makes the truck pull to either side. I have been near hitting other cars and constantly correcting the wheel to stay in lane. This is very dangerous. I owned a jl that had the same issue until the dampner recall was done. The dealer tells me is a jeep thing and i know no dangerous behavior is a jeep thing.

There is a 2" plus dead zone in the steering where driver input turns the wheel neither left nor right. This is marginally acceptable in most situations but in winds and or towing it becomes very dangerous. Like driving a boat with a loose rudder.

Excessive play in steering wheel which results in the vehicle wandering at highway speeds.

Excessive play in the steering wheel.vehicle requires approximately 2 to 3 inches of movement before the front tires react.this creates an unsafe driving characteristic with unexpected movement while driving and difficulty to maintain lane.

Vehicle is unsafe at highway speeds. Steering is extremely loose causing vehicle to wander left and right and difficult to keep in lane.very unsafe in moderate to hard braking as well. Manufacturer has issued a tsb but dealerships are not forthcoming in the repair. This needs to be a safety recall before people more people are hurt/killed

At a low speed in a right hand turn, a complete loss of steering control occurred. Steering seamed to lock up. Had to stop vehicle, used some force to turn steering wheel left and right. After attempting this task, when turning th steering wheel to the left, ability to steer returned. Vehicle was then moved into the garage and left. This occurred2 days after vehicle was reported by dealership as being repaired. This has occurred several times, turned over to dealership for repairs. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle.

Vehicle wanders during normal driving on highways, requiring frequent correction to make it track straight. There is also excessive play (deadspot) in the steering, which requires approximately an inch of steering wheel movement before any movement or feedback in physical steering is felt. Vehicle also has a tendency to drift/pull to the right, requiring constant (but slight) steer to the left. Have scheduled diagnosis with the dealership.

The steering is unstable at highways speed with wandering and constant steering correction needed. At times, there seems to be notchy feeling when turning the steering wheel at low speeds - just a bit of resistance then it's gone. The wander and steering correction is worse the warmer it is. I picked the date of my last longer trip but it's been common since summer 2020.

My jeep gladiator overland model has always had an issue wandering on the road and pulling to the right, even after an alignment. Jeep has issued a tsb 08-074-20 and i have called rockie williams jeep in mt juliet, tn. They have said this doesn't apply to my jeep even though i definitely have the steering box part #68418449ae that should be replaced with part #68507576aa per the tsb.

Purchased a 2020 jeep gladiator rubicon.i noticed the steering is very difficult to keep the vehicle within the lane.the response is unpredictable, as i assumed i would get used to the steering over several weeks of driving.now with several months of driving, i still have difficulty driving within the lane.problem is worsened at highway speeds.reverse steering is required when exiting a turn on the freeway.while driving straight, the vehicle will drift out of the lane regularly.taken to the dealership with no effective solutions yet.steering damper has been replaced, but did nothing to improve the situation.

Vehicle has excessive play in steering and constantly wonders on the road.excessive play is exhausting while taking long trips as it requires constant adjustment on the road to correct.contacted dealer, jimmy britt chrysler dodge jeep in dublin georgia and was told "jeeps do that you have to get familiar with it".i have had many vehicles in my lifetime and none have been this hard to keep on the road.this happens in the city as well as the highway..

The steering on this jeep has a 1-1.5" play on either side of driving straight and wanders all over the road.. It takes some serious effort to keep it driving straight.

Steering seems to wander. Constant correction needed. Inquired and have been told 'it's a jeep thing' to which i would say my other jeep does not drive like this. Most noticeably on highway speeds

While in motion and increasingly noticeable as speed increases there is a dead spot in the steering.the input of the steering wheel does not correspond to the movement in the tires as observed from testing steering wheel movement and monitoring the tire movement.the vehicle has been checked twice by the dealership.the first time the drag link was replaced with no noticeable improvement.the second time the vehicle was deemed to be operating as expected.after replacing the drag link the dead spot moved entirely to the right side.when the steering wheel is straight, movement to the left is immediately responsive.movement to the right has about a 2 inch dead zone.the symptom can be observed in this video: https://youtu.be/-pjqtfgv4ucthe problem is most likely in the steering box as the input to the steering box is not matching the output into the steering components.having driven other gladiators without this issue and heard from numerous other owners about having responsive steering, this issue should not be described as normal operation.

I've had the vehicle 3 days.at 40+ mph, the vehicle drifts in the lane. There seem to be a dead spot in the steering.didn't notice it during the test drive, as we didn't go on the highway and get overc40 for any length of time. I drive 25 miles one way to work, so i noticed it a lot today. This is a $44,000vehicle, it should not do this. I have an appointment monday at 8 am for the running boards, i will definitely bring this up.

While driving the vehicle at highway speeds(50mph+) the steering wanders left and right. I've taken it to my local dealership and they confirmed that the vehicle does indeed wander but stated that since another vehicle on their lot of the same make and model has the same issue it can't be fixed and should be considered "normal".

The steering is loose and tends to wander, most noticeable going freeway speeds.i am constantly correcting it.

Truck wanders on highway. Steering has play in it that is basically a dead spot roughly 2 inches each way from center. Returned to dealer who stated it was out of alignment. Issue persisted and returned again the following week. This time it was reported that tie rod ends were bad and tech said it was not recommended to be driven. After tie rod replacement it was driven with service manager and issue persists. Service manager unsure what the issue is but admitted to me that there is play in the steering. We drove a comparative new from the lot and the issue was slightly worse on it. Still waiting, now six calendar days, for response from service manager about next steps. The vehicle is not able to be safely driven above 45-50mph. Truck was purchased with roughly 400 miles on it. Now has 1400, 400 of which have been accumulated from the 100 mile round trips to the dealership.

The steering wheel on my jeep gladiator has a lot of play which allows the steering wheel to turn left and right without the wheels moving. And also the wheels can move left and right without turning the steering wheel. You have to constantly correct the steering. I contacted a local dealership in may of 2020 about my concern but was told it was normal. Recently fca contacted me about a fix which involved replacing the steering gear box.however i'm having trouble getting the repair performed.

The steering on my vehicle drifts within the lane and is very difficult to operate. The dealer said it is a combination of electric and mechanical steering which is sensitive. Dealer said repair for this issue at this time. Waiting for a software update.

My 2020 jeep gladiator mojave model has a major issue with its steering, when driving on the freeway the vehicle wants to wander out of the lane (while the steering wheel is kept straight), the vehicle will wander side to side and go outside of the driving lane. To keep the vehicle in the lane one has to do multiple steering corrections to keep the vehicle driving straight. As an owner of many previous jeeps i have never seen it like this before. Alignment is good, and the vehicle is stock, stock suspension and wheels and tires. This poor steering performance was like this when new and picked up from the dealer. It is very dangerous and my wife is scared to drive the gladiator, there needs to be a nationwide recall to address this safety issue for the steering rack.

Truck feels loose when driving down the hwy ,like there is play in the steering box.have had it back to the dealer over 3 times and it still does the same thing. It feels unsafe trying to drive down the road, my wife and daughter will not drive it. They say it's to hard to stay in there lane. The truck has done this sense i bought it.

Steering loose and the car can not be straight, the steering have to much play and the car move from side to side to try to keep it in the lane, also a bad vibration after pass a no level surface....very dangerous on the freeway, also i turn on the car and move the steering wheel from side to side without driving it and the steering box move from the chassis and have a gap like 1millimeter from the chassis...this is not normal

Front wheels start violently wobbling at higher speeds on the freeway making steering and handling the vehicle almost impossible.the only way to stop it is to pull over and stop the vehicle motion.it is a serious and dangerous problem.this has happened occasionally and unpredictably since the vehicle was new.dodge says they have no fix ready.

Truck wonderswhen wheel is straight .been to the dealer twice to have it fixed ,. They did nothing

Drifts/wanders all over the road at highway speed.

Vehicle wanders in lane from right to left.hard to maintain a straight line.if the wind is blowing or gusty, the vehicle will dart from one side of lane to the other.dangerous to drive. I think there is something wrong with the steering box.you can move the steering wheel from about 10:00 to 1:00 and the steering tires will not move.

While driving at highway speed, approximately 60 mph, went over a rough surface on the road and the gladiator starter shaking as if i had had a blow-out.once i slowed down it stabilized.however, it is a safety issue as it has already happened twice in a high traffic area.upon researching on the internet, i've come to learn that it is a very common problem called "death wobble" that happens on jeep off-road vehicles, which makes it all the more critical that nhtsa require chrysler-fiat to come up with a solution.thank you.

The steering has a lot of play and the vehicles wanders excessively on the highway.it is worse in warmer weather and when towing.

Driving on interstate speed approx 65, truck begins to shake uncontrollably . Pull to disabled vehicle lane.

Steering loose. Several degrees of 'play' in steering wheel. Vehicle wanders on the roadway. Condition increases at highway speed. Vehicle was taken to dealership, was confirmed everything was within spec, and condition still persists.

The steering on my jeep jtr (gladiator rubicon) is sloppy. When driving at highway speeds the truck wants to wander and requires lots of correction to maintain a given path. On windy days or when semi tucks pass both hands are required at all times just to maintain a given path. Researching online revels lots of complaints exist with this issue. There are videos (and i have included pictures of my jtr) showing the steering box moving off the frame when the steering is actuated. Syngery manufacturing has developed a brace for the track bar and the sector shaft that eliminates this play and almost all people who have paid to install this aftermarket brace report much improved steering. The combination of complaints, videos, pictures and an already developed "fix" - not to mention personal experience driving my vehicle - all points to a problem with the design of this steering setup. Jeep needs to rectify this immediately.

Since the vehicle was new, it wonders at highway speeds. There is a lot of play in the steering wheel/gear box. It requires constant correction to maintain the lane and is dangerous and will fatigue the driver on longer drives.

Leased brand new gladiator. Noticed at speeds above ~40mph, vehicle wanders. The steering feels very loose, resulting in needing to actively steer the vehicle just to keep it going straight (not an issue with alignment). When another vehicles passes me, it pulls me towards their lane (like when a semi passes).took it in to dealer 3 times within a month of owning it, who said it's supposed to be like this due to the new electrical steering. This problem is all over the internet and needs to be fixed. It is not safe.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle would go side to side, which caused the vehicle to be difficult to maintain straight. The failure occurred on several occasions. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two local dealers (fox chrysler dodge jeep ram located at 346 grant avenue rd, auburn, ny 13021 and the second dealer unknown) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was performing as designed. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case. The failure mileage was approximately 130.

The steering wheel needs constant adjustment and input as the wheels of the car do not track straight, and are not in sync with the steering wheel.it's even more stressful when driving athighway speeds, it doesn't matter if you are driving straight, on curves, through construction zones, and alongside semi-trucks, the steering wheel needs constant attention, and the vehicle wanders at all times.the steering wheel is loose and moves about three inches from center in either direction without the front wheels moving.the drive is mentally exhausting.the steering wheel is so loose, that when you place your hands at 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock, the steering wheel does not stay firm, it moves - we have to prop our elbows on the armrests to stabilize the steering wheel. We did test drive other gladiators and the problem did not occur in those vehicles. We like the jeep brand, have owned several jeeps, and would like to keep the gladiator, but we are afraid to drive this vehicle, it's unsafe.

The vehicle steering is very loose at highway speed requiring constant corrections.the vehicle will wonder within the lane.it also feels like there is a dead zone in the steering wheel that's far above any other vehicle i have driven

The steering feel is very lose. The truck has the feeling like it wanders in the lane and always needs steering correction to keep it going straight.none of my other cars have ever driven like this including my past jeeps. This mainly happens at highway speeds.

There is a steeringproblem with my gladiator. I had the new steeringbox changed out along with the new update which helped some but you have to constantly keep control or it will wander off the road or into other lane of traffic. This is a safety issue. There is too much play in the steeringand it is exhausting when you are driving. Dealership stated that "it is a jeep". I have owned 5 other jeeps and never had an issue as bad as this is. Jeep has to recognize the issue and issue a safety warning before someone's life is involved. I have spent money on a front end alignment in hopes this would eliminatethe problem and had to add an alignment caster/ pinion angle bolt kit and still wandering.

The dead zone in the steering wheel is far greater than what jeep claims it is. The steering wanders or pulls. The dealerships refuse to do anything because 'its a jeep thing'. No its not. Its a death wish thing. The problem is either in the steering box or the trac bar. But jeep wont fix it because it would be too expensive.

There seems to be a dead zone at center of the steering. I can move the steering wheel to the left approx. 1 inch and to the right approx. 1 inch and nothing happens. The jeep doesn't turn in either direction until you get past the dead zone. This seems to cause an over steer issue while moving down the road at speed. It can become very dangerous. The steering will do this while moving at any speed and also while sitting still in the park position.

Pulls/drifts to the right at high speeds forcing you to make constant adjustments. The loose steering and center 'dead spot' make it easy to over correct and put you in a dangerous situation in traffic.

I experience the extreme vibration on highway speeds in my steering when i hit small bumps. Death wobble it is commonly called. I asked them to fix it once and it is still there.

My gladiator steering is not able to track straight. And there is constant play at all speeds. It has been to the dealer 3 times for repair and dealer has been unsuccessful at fixing steering play. My truck was out of alignment from the day i purchased it, chrysler escalated my case and then a notice saying my case has been closed. And there is no resolve for my steering issue.my next step is to discuss with lemon law attorney.

The vehicle developed severe shaking in the steering wheel at highway speed. This is typically referred to as death wobble. The vehicle steering, suspension, and tires have not been modified from the factory. The steering has been present since purchasing the issue but has recently developed into a much more unsafe condition.

The so called death wobblewhile driving under normal conditions....dry pavement at speeds between 60/65mph on both city streets and highways ....it happens quite often...this vehicle has only 4000 miles

On the highway steering is horrendous. So much wandering and pulling to the right. The steering feels like it has excess play in general. I feel unsafe driving in my brand new jeep gladiator.

2020 jeep gladiator - rubicon has significant 'wandering' issues. I've driven wranglers for year and have never had steering issues this apparent. This happens while above 25 mph and continues through 60+mph. Significantly having to adjust steering that throws you all over the road. I cannot take my hands off the wheel without feeling like i am going to crash the vehicle.i noted the issues the day after purchase, sent an email to the dealership saying i didn't feel safe driving with my 6 month old in the vehicle. My wife also commented after her first day driving it and asked me 'what is wrong with the steering'. She also felt extremely unsafe driving it. Jeeps reply was ' we are sorry you regret your purchase, but that's how jeeps drive'...and did not offer me a solution. I asked to buy my truck back that i traded and they said no. Vehicle is all over the road, consistently having to overcorrect steering. Went to jeep forums to see if others were having the same issue and apparently this is a very apparent problem and jeep does not offer a fix, telling people to replace stock parts with steering stabilizers and brackets to help stabilize the ride. I am not spending $1000 on after market parts after spending $60,000 on a vehicle. Jeep refused there is an issue with the vehicle, which are complaints that others have had as well. I currently have a case open with fca and hopefully will have a remediation soon...

Truck wanders on highway. Steering has play in it that is basically a dead spot roughly 2 inches each way from center. Returned to dealer they acknowledged this is a know problem with the steering. Service manager told my wife and i that jeep does not have a fix for the problem and quote "you can either drive it the way it is or let is sit in driveway". Service manager unsure what the issue is but admitted to me that there is play in the steering. We drove a comparative new from the lot and the issue was slightly worse on it. Still waiting, now six calendar days, for response from service manager about next steps.i see that this is a common complaint and would like to company to issue a recall for this safety issue

At speeds of 65+ mph. Irregularities in the road surface cause the vehicle to swerve randomly toward the ditch or the other lane. Holding a single lane is near impossible.

My 2020 jeep gladiator wanders off the road i have to keep trying to stay in lane. When i came to the red light stop the other driver asked me if i was ok basically thinking i was drunk driving. Took it to the dealer service and they said its normal with jeeps. I know something is terribly wrong with this car so i searched jeep gladiator forum and others are also complaining about the same issue. Some have even stated they almost got in a car crash. Plz do something about this

Symptom/condition while driving.' steering wander.' vehicle has a lead/pull to the right or left.' steering feels like it has excess play.must replace the steering gear and updating the electric hydraulic power steering(ehps) software.

Went on a 100 mile trip and was exhausted when i returned home from trying to keep it between the lines. It wandered all the time.

When driving straight on a highway, the steering requires constant corrections. The steering wheel must constantly turn left or right to maintain a straight heading. Tight highway driving can be very dangerous.

Wandering steering at highway & freeway speeds is unsettling and unsafe. I drove home from the dealership 40 miles and thought the wind must be causing the truck to dart all over the freeway. I drove on the street the next week, not nearly as noticeable and with the crown on the surface streets it's harder to feel. The next week, a 70 mile trip south was exhausting. I thought something might be broken. Bumping the rumble strip on the fog line and the botts dots in the lane line was the norm the whole trip on the freeway.the amount of take-up in the steering is an arc of 10 degrees or more when parked and engine off - that's steering box slop. An urgent turn isn't possible, and turning while braking is sketchy at best. The dealership i bought my truck from forgot my name as soon as we drove off the lot - fine, i get it. Don't lie to me and tell me that scary steering is normal, drive a ram 1500 and you won't see anything like this. Getting pushed off by the service manager on a safety issue is wrong.i took our truck to an independent suspension specialty shop and they said there is not enough caster in the factory geometry, which the factory tries to mask with too much toe in. They measured everything, said it was in factory spec. The dead spot in the steering box is exacerbating the poorly engineered front axle problem (lack of caster). I have a 93 wrangler that has more purposeful steering, that's just not right. When steering engineering fixes are already available in the after market, and fca has already improved the 2020 jl wrangler steering from the factory (see media/press articles), they know they have a problem. Please make fca fix this safety issue.

Steering issues - large dead spot in steering that makes it extremely dangerous to drive.my wife won't even drive the vehicle as it scares here at highway speeds.around town the dead spot is smaller - still a work out to keep straight, but very dangerous at highway speeds.the truck wanders all over and you have to constantly correct.cross winds are even worse as you have to cross the gap of the dead zone when the gust stops before controlling the steering.took in to the dealer last week - they checked it all over, found nothing wrong underneath - told me that +/- half an inch dead spot is in spec.problem is that on a rack in the shop, the dead spot is smaller (while a whole inch in play is still a lot and should be unacceptable for any car made in the last couple decades).on real world driving conditions, there is resistance from the road, so the dead spot is a little larger.go faster, like the 75 and 80mph roads in texas, the dead spot is huge.at highway speeds it looks similar or worse than this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=q8tfehcotjq&feature=emb_logo will be taking it to another dealer and another until resolved - not safe to drive on highway - and compared to our other jeep - the steering in that is tight and responsive - so this is an issue that can be resolved if jeep wants to resolve. Many other videos were posted, looks like many taken down now.something isn't right in the steering box - too much slop - need engineering to put out a fix as service shops at dealers have no guidance to fix, and will just keep saying it's a jeep thing (but not all jeeps have this issue and not all gladiators have this issue, which means it can be fixed).

Steering wanders left to rightstart stop battery won't chargerear defroster 1/3 works

The gladiator is pulling to the right more than it should when driving on the highway. Drove another one and it does the same. The dealership tried to resolve the issue but cannot fix it. Chrysler said they cannot fix it at this time and is aware of the issue.

I have had jeeps since 1974 and i am a chrysler retiree and this new gladiator is nearly impossible to hold straight on the road..the steering is so loose it wander side to side..on a narrow 4 lane it is white knuckle driving..it scares me to go far in it..

Vehicle tends to wander all over the road, needing constant correction driving down straight roads at any speed. It acts like a vehicle that has a worn out steering linkage/box.i haven't had a car/truck do this since i owned a 20 yr old chevy truck 40 years ago.this youtube video exactly shows the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfoyzfep0ka.there is apparently an updated steering box fca isn't telling customers about.

Loose feel in steering at highway speeds. Vehicle wanders excessively requiring constant steering wheel correction.

Loose steering, there is a dead spot in the steering where you have to continually self correct to stay in a straight line.

Steering drifts, requiring constant corrections. The vehicle drifts right and left at road speeds (highway and city roads) i have already had one 'near miss'. This is a public danger.

Unsure of what the issue is but have occasional issues with clutch and steering is very loose.

The dead spot in the steering box makes the truck wander the road like a wet noodle, requiring constant input & dangerous over correction to stay in own lane. This is at any speed, city street or highway, turning & trying to drive straight. The one i test drove while mine was on the alignment rack was completely normal and safe to drive. No 'loose steering' in that gladiator. When driving snow covered roads i can't tell if the front is sliding or not. This is dangerous to drive. It is not a jeep thing!this has been an issue since i took delivery and i have not modified any drivetrain/suspension parts. Lowering the tire pressure gives a better road feel, but in no way fixes the loose play.simply put...what goes into the steering box via the steering wheel/shaft, does not come out of the output side of the steering box without a serious delay to eventually put enough pressure to turn.*dttag/state (xxx)vin (xxxxxx)('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

While driving at any speed the vehicle steering constantly wanders left to right. Steering response is very slow and is very dangerous at highway speeds as vehicle pulls to left or right causing dangerous over correction because of unresponsive steering. The problem occurs in all weather conditions and had had the problem since it was new. Vehicle currently has 5300 miles on it. The chrysler dealer has no interest in taking care of the problem even though they are aware of the service bulletin issued by chrysler that confirms the problem. This is a serious safety issue and needs to be corrected.

Jeep wonders to the left or to the right having to coorrect the steering wheel all the time

The vehicle has a steering issue when driving at highway speeds. It has to be constantly turned to keep in a straight path. It wonders uncontrollably without constant adjustments from the driver. This is a safety issue to me because it's easy to get out of your lane if your not constantly focused on the road. You can't take your eyes off the road for even a split second.

Vehicle wanders on road at speeds over 30 mph. Slack in steering wheel. Usually veers to right. Constant steering adjustment while driving is mandatory. Once it starts it's a back and forth correction in between lane markers. Sometimes leaving lane into on coming traffic or soft shoulder. At highway speeds and while in city.

The steering on my gladiator rubicon has too much drift and play, i'm constantly correcting from drifting side to side and the faster speed the more correction. My wife refuses to drive it. I'm 61 yrs old and have always owned offroad vehicles including 5 jeep's. This is a real problem jeep, this is dangerous for other drivers as well.

Fca has admitted to bad tsb steering gear and has not recalled the vehicle for the part but has made the part available for free for those who have had issues with steering being wobbly. They no longer state part is available. They have canceled all part requests.

Steering is loose.needs to be corrected every 2-3 seconds at highway speeds.windy conditions much worse.not safe to drive.not fun to drive.continually wanders.vehicle two weeks old.factory stock.

I have owned this truck 3 weeks now and about 1,000 miles. The issue i have us with the steering at highway speeds especially.i have never driven a modern day vehicle with this much steering play. This past weekend i took a mostly highway trip and it was mentally exhausting to have to work the steering wheel constantly back and forth with about 2" off play before it moved the wheels. I called the dealership and they said it was a "jeep thing " and i would get use to it. But i have owned 2 wranglers and currently have a grand cherokee as well and this is most certainly not a jeep thing. I don't know what the answer is but this is definitely a safety hazard when you have to constantly be working the wheel when driving at highway speeds. No joke my grandfather's 1950 chevrolet truck had less slop in the wheel. I really think this needs to be looked into because having to work to wheel constantly could cause you to overcorrect and crash.

Excessive steering wheel play of approximately 5 to 8 degrees before vehicle responds to inputs.this can be noticed driving on flat level street and moving the steering wheel from left to right until vehicle just starts to respond.steering play seems to vary a bit between very hot and very cold outdoor temps.at highway speeds vehicle requires constant focused attention to maintain position within lines.in high wind situations at highway speeds driving for more than an hour becomes stressful due to trying to keep vehicle on road.so far this has not caused an accident but does make highway driving very annoying and stressful. In city driving the steering is not too bad unless driving 40 or faster.turning and cornering steering response seems normal without the play, once pressure is initiated in that direction.play seems to be localized in the neutral position of the steering box. This is a continuing issue with no part recall, there has been a fca technical service bulletin tsb-0807420 group 08electrical dated august 10, 2020 but manufacture parts and response to this issue has been unacceptable.

My jeep gladiator requires constant correction while driving and seems to have a ~1 inch dead spot from center before the wheels react which seems to allow it to also wander from left to right slightly and does not want to come back to center. It is more apparent at higher speeds and requires you to constantly over-correct to keep it center on a straight road. I scheduled a service and they could not find anything wrong but after i returned to pick up my jeep a asked the service manager to take a quick drive with me and i would show him the issue. After driving mine we also drove another one from the new lot and it seemed to have the same dead-zone/play in the steering that mine did. The service manager agreed that he could tell there was some sort of issue but that they do not have a fix for it at this time. This is unacceptable for a brand new $55k+ vehicle. I have also noticed that the steering box seems to actually move slightly while looking at it while the steering wheel is being turned. This issue needs to be resolved quickly as i am not the only one complaining of this. Fca needs to do something about it asap.

I recently purchased the jeep gladiator and the steering seems extremely loose as if i don't have control over 50 mph. I have to constantly make corrections when diving on the highway as it requires intense focus not to veer into other lanes. I took my vehicle to a jeep dealership to address the looseness and they explained that the steering box needs to be replaced, in which they did. Needless to say; because, i am posting this complaint, the steering still feels too loose, making me regret purchasing this vehicle.the steering problem needs to be addressed immediately, it is too dangerous.

Wandering steering has become dangerous.steering is extremely unstable and car wanders.steering is extremely difficult to maintain straight line.careful attention is required as steering is difficult to maintain.

2020 gladiator purchased august 30. Have been to the dealer every week since to discuss steering free play and wandering on the road. I was told it was manually adjusted and aligned and that is all they can do. Then told, when i asked for documentation/service records (which took 7 weeks to get) they said nothing was done because fca has not given them any information. Tried another dealer. They agree, steering is loose, but have no tsb from fca so there is nothing they can do. This will be very tricky to drive on slippery michigan roads. This is unacceptable in a new jeep or any new product.

Bought a beautiful hydro blue gladiator on 7/31/20, took it on a short test drive at lower speeds and felt normal to drive. 8/1/20 i noticed at freeway speeds that steering required constant correction and literally looked like i was driving drunk. This is not acceptable behavior for any vehicle and it seems as many other people have this same issue. I'm writing this for documentation purposes. Vehicle currently has 180 miles.

Purchased my jeep gladiator less then a month ago and noticed it had extremely loose steering when on the highway and even on back roads when going over 30mph. It is hard to stay within your lane. It looks as if a drunk driver was driving down the road. It feels scary when other vehicles are next to me as it feels i am gonna drift into their lane and hit them without being able to properly correct the steering.

Picked up a new sport s gladiator just before xmas 2019.during initial test drives, i was expecting some degree of slop in the steering, but during such a limited time, it was not evident exactly how bad it is.between 35-55 mph, this vehicle is almost undriveable.the sway from side to side (needing constant correction) is beyond belief.at higher speeds, it gets less uncontrollable, but i usually drive it locally, and it's truly terrifying.on further investigation, it appears this is a common feature on almost every gladiator, to the point that a company has developed and sells a $250 part to reduce this death-sway.the issue is the steering box being bolted to the frame (which flexes under normal use) along with a sub-par anti-sway dampener and factory-callibrated steering box, which hs way to much play (but can be adjusted).in my opinion, this issue is grounds for a recall immediately before people get killed. It's that dangerous that i refuse to drive the vehicle over any distances other than to my local store.it is now back at the dealership, and they have stated they cannot make any adjustments to remedy the situation or add the synergy adapter which resolves the issue because fiat-chrysler have not admitted there is a problem and the nhtsa hasn't forced them to resolve this.my hope is that someone doesnt get killed before this gets resolved - but we all know how that's going to go....

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel became very loose. The vehicle was taken to martin swanty chrysler dodge jeep ram (2640 e andy devine ave, kingman, az 86401), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. *ln

The steering is very loose and the vehicle pulls to the right and feels like it's bouncing all over the place. It feels like i am driving in a wind storm with constant corrections and over corrections make it feel unsafe.reproduce issue:drive at 50mph release steering wheel, vehicle immediately sways to the right. Drive at 60mph vehicle constantly needs corrections.

While driving approximately 45mph on a 2 lane road,my steering wheel became stuck or frozen in its position. I was unable to course correct, and ended up braking into the median. I never lost engine power, or power steering. The wheel was simply locked, stuck, or frozen. Once stopped, i tried the wheel again, and it worked. I've since taken the vehicle to jeep, and they are attempting repair.

My steering is incredible dangerous,my wife and child are not safe driving this truck and i cant believe i'm the only one...i'll be screenshotting this process to see if any results cone from this....fiat/jeep should never put out a product that steers and pulls you off the road as this truck will most definitely do!!!!!!

I purchased a new jeep gladiator rubicon and took it for a hundred mile trip on the highway to visit a relative.at highway speeds around 70 miles per hour, the truck needs constant attention and adjustment to stay in the lane.when you correct to the center of the lane, it wanders to the side, then you correct again, and it wanders to the other side.the next day i drove the a hundred miles on the highway back home and it repeated.i could not drive the truck one handed as it constantly needed correction.i've had previous jeeps, broncos, land cruisers, and 4 wheel drive vehicles.this is not normal and is a safety problem.it is scary to drive when a semi truck is next to you as the jeep is difficult to keep in a straight line.driving the vehicle wears you out, from constantly steering back and forth to correct.i've researched the issue on-line and this issue is well known in the jeep community.there is a jeep gladiator forum where there are numerous complaints.at least three aftermarket companies are making products to correct the problem.it appears that the steering box flexes where it connects to the frame.there are multiple videos on line showingthe steering box flex when the steering wheel is turned.when you turn the steering wheel with the tire on the ground, the steering box twists a little causing the wandering vehicle at speed.people that purchase the aftermarket bracket/brace for the steering box say it corrects the problem.my truck is currently at the dealer with 300 miles on it, and they say they can not see a problem with the vehicle.since this is a new model, i suspect that the manufacturer will not correct the problem until there are wrecks or recalls due to the steering.please ask the manufacturer to correct this dangerous problem.

It is very hard to keep the jeep going strait down the road at speeds over 30 mph. Very unsafe. I have even been pulled over by police.

Jeep has loose steering going straight down a road . Been to two dealer to have corrected and neither could correct! very uncomfortable with this condition !

I now have over 5,000 miles on my new jeep jt. Since day one the steering has been so sloppy above 10mphthat i often wander out of my lane. The dealer said that this was a "jeep thing" and get used to it. I currently own 9 jeeps, the oldest being a 1967 kaiser. This is not a "jeep thing". All of my other jeeps drive normally. The dealer did say that the new electric power steering pump was problematic and that a $600 better steering stabilizer might help.i also own 47 vintage military vehicles and not one of them steers as poorly as this new jeep gladiator. Jeep is not going to fix this until people die.

The steering on this jeep gladiator is extremely dangerous. The truck is all over the road and if you are at highway speeds it's white knuckle ride you can't wait to get over with.this vehicle needs to be taken off the road.

As i was driving my 2020 jeep gladiator with only 460 miles down i-95 between new smyrna beach and titusville. The truck kept wandering into passing lane as i was on cruise control and had to keep correcting to keep from intruding into other lane. I have driven many jeeps before and even older wranglers never felt so loose. This is dangerous !

Death wobble. When driving at speeds of 65+ mph when the weather is below 38f, if my jeep hits a significant bump in the road the steering wheel begins to violently shake as does the rest of the vehicle. It stops after i reduce my speed to below 55mph.

Bought vehicle new early september did not notice issue during road test which was mostly at slower speeds due to traffic.after purchasing and driving on highway immediately noticed there was an issue and went online to discover i was not alone with the loose steering. Not my first jeep and ive purchased more than the average joe in the past and never had an issue like this one. My daughter will not even drive it because it scares her.the steering at highway speeds is where its at its worst and you constantly have to be correcting to stay inlane. If its really windy people think theres something wrong with you. It is a safety hazard for any how claims they have it.jeep is telling people its a jeep thing and theres nothing wrong.

I am unable to to keep the car straight once it gets above 55. I am constantly having to adjust left and right to trying and keep the jeep straight. I literally just got this car and only have 700 miles on it.

My jeep gladiator at high speeds drifts constantly from side to side. I just completed a 14 hour trip mostly at highway speeds and i was in fear of my life as the jeep constantly drifted in my lane and into other lanes the entire trip. It is clear that the steering mechanism and how the car handles is very sub par and will cause accidents. I am very concerned about going back on the road with this car and will not use this on long trips. I am completely exhausted from making adjustments with the wheel to keep me from running into other cars and trucks. I need to know what can be done to fix this problem?

Steering is loose when driving and vehicle 'wanders' what i feel is more than a modern day vehicle should. Can certainly be dangerous if not paying close attention. Some days are worse than others. Strange in comparison to any other vehicle i've owned.

I've owned my gladiator 6 months. I have put just over 6,000 miles on it, and since the first week, it has driven like complete garbage. It wanders all over the road, and constantly needs over steer correction to keep the vehicle going straight. After doing some light invenstigation, jeep knows that this is a wide spread issue.they issued a tsb repair for this problem, and i have had it completed. Once completed, there was no noticeble difference. If anything it was worse.driver fatigue is experienced with every ride in the vehicle. It has steering dead spots at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel. The steering wheel is limp and unresponsive.

Vehicle, at the time of this report, has 1456 miles. It is with the dealer to diagnose. I have referenced fca's tsb 08-074-20 to the service advisor. Vehicle has factory suspension, tires/wheels, and steering components.

Brand new vehicle with less than 600 miles on it suffers from very loose steering resulting in wandering and dead spots in steering. Very dangerous at highway speed because of constant corrections needed to keep vehicle in traffic lane. Tsb issued by manufacturer but dealers refusing to do work and now manufacturercancelling parts associated with tsb repair including steering gear and mounting bolts.

This is the second time my gladiator has been back for steering related issues. The first was drifting to the right which was corrected by adjusting the toe (at 412 miles). Today i brought it in again because at highway speed the steering needs constant correction to stay in the lane. The dealer indicated that the front end alignment was in factory specs but the tires were a few pounds over so perhaps that was the problem. I only got to drive about 55 mph on the way home but the problem still exists. My old 2009 wrangler unlimited has never had any such steering issues and still tracks straight at 110k. There is obviously a problem that maybe jeep (fca) has yet to acknowledge because there are numerous videos/blogs listing complaints very similar to mine and also numerous complaints filed with the nhtsa.a company, synergy mfg, has come up with a novel solution due to demand for a fix so apparently there is a problem.

At hi-way speeds vehicle pulls or sways. When you move the steering wheel to correct. It's easy to over correct as the steering wheel seems to have a dead spot.

My gladiator needs constant steering correction to go straight. Steering is loose and the gladiator is constantly wandering right to left.

At any speed above 10 miles per hour, the steering feels really loose. Very dangerous at highway speeds where i am constantly having to correct my wandering vehicle in order to keep it in a lane. I only have 4500 miles on the truck and it has been like this since i purchased it. For an almost 60k vehicle, it handles like an 60ā€™s model ford with manual steering. The dead zone in the steering wheel is ridiculous for a vehicle from the 21st century. This vehicle will cause a crash if you are not careful with the over-correction.

The contact owns a 2020 jeep gladiator. The contact stated that while driving at speeds above 50 mph, the vehicle would drift out of the lane and the steering would not immediately respond when turning the steering wheel making the steering very unstable. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer lithea dodge (2121 mlk jr. Blvd eugene or) who was unable to identify the failure and indicated that the vehicle had operated as normal. The manufacturer) was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8.

Constant driver's correction in order to keep it going straight at highway speeds. Steering feels loose and has about 1"-2" play on either direction.

Excessive steering wander/road walking. This is being reported in large numbers of jeep gladiator vehicles in all jeep forums. Especially dangerous at highway speeds, and with increased winds, or towing. Jeep currently has a technical service bulletin 08-074-20 activated, but dealerships don't have available stock of the replacement steering box called for, and seem disinterested in replacing because it is not a recall. This condition and problem has been present since buying the vehicle, and that is consistent with reports by other buyers across all forums. Please consider making a recall, as the problem is dangerous, and affects most vehicles, so as to facilitate replacement.

The steering allows the vehicle to wonder and requires constant correction.there is free play in the steering that requires constant correction to maintain my lane of travel.the issue is extreme at highway speed and compounded on rough paved roads.there are several times that i could not correct the wondering of my jeep gladiator quick enough and haveleft my lane of travel due to the steering issuecausing to potential hit other vehicles traveling next to me on multi lane roads or drive off the road. The steering is on the gladiator is s serious issue and make the vehicle difficult to control.

Currently on my 6th bad/dangerous steering gear box. 4 bad aluminum & 2 bad 'upgraded' steel boxes. It's only a matter of time before someone is killed because of the giant dead-zone or free-play in these boxes. I thought the problem would be fixed when they switched to steel construction, but i was sadly mistaken. The problem remains that there is zero quality control at the manufacturing plant for these gear boxes, and it's fca's unethical practices that are to blame. Imo. They could step up tsb 08-074-20 to a recall, but the root of the problem still remains. These unethical scum bags do not care once they have our money.can i call for a real federal investigation into the fca on this platform?when your kids radio flyer wagon has tighter steering than your brand new $50k jeep, there's a problem. All the play is inside the steering box. I sent one of these bad boxes to a specialty shop, and here are their findings...........the ball sizing in the worm gear needs to be upsized/re-machined to get the proper fitment for no freeplay. The preload on the valving was incorrect, the valve was misbalanced, bearing preload incorrect, the adjustment cap for the valving was not properly staked causing it to tear up the threads, and 'we don't understand how the engineers thought that a steering gear, built like that would be ok'.

The steering is loose, requires constant drive adjustments to stay in lane.

1 inch of play in steering wheel both right and left of center at all times. Vehicle wanders and requires constant correction to hold a straight line at all speeds. Driving at highway speeds (55+) is dangerous and requires repeated back and forth motion to keep vehicle in lane.

Took my truck in to the dealer for extremely loos feeling steering, it takes nearly 2 inches of steering input to effect a change in steering, and it wandering in the lane as i drive it.the truck actually has done this since i bought it in april 2020.there is a tsb out to repair this issue.i took to the dealer aug 31 2020, and all they did at the time was to update the software on the jeep, and told me to come back if issue still persists.i took it back in sept for the same, and they claimed parts were ordered.we are now into november with no end in sight.i took a camping trip with my family two weeks ago, i came out from behind guard rails on the interstate into the wind, and was blown almost out of my lane before i could regain steering control.fca does not seem to deem this as a safety issue, and is limiting the number of replacement parts for the 2020, so they can push out their 2021 model year vehicles.jeep customer support says there is nothing that they can do to get the issue taken care of.

Today is the first time i've taken my new jeep gladiator on the freeway. It has only 259 miles. I never noticed any steering problem while driving in town, but at higher speeds on the freeway i was constantly correcting to stay in the center of my lane. I agree with the many other steering complaints that there has to be a fix. I felt very uncomfortable driving like this.

Driving on interstate speed approx 65, truck begins to shake uncontrollably . Pull to disabled vehicle lane.

Both latches on my 2020 jeep gladiator soft top inadvertently unlatched while driving on interstate at approximately 75 mph, causing the top to start opening. Driver and passenger grabbed top and conducted emergency stop on shoulder of interstate to keep the soft top from fully opening. The inadvertent opening occurred three times in span of 15 minutes at increasingly slower speeds. To continue our trip, we were able to secure the soft top to window frame with bungee straps installed over the latches to keep latches in place. Concerned that an inadvertent opening of the soft top at interstate speed might cause driver to loose control of vehicle while dealing with grabbing the soft top at high speed, structural damage to top, and/or potential for soft top to depart the jeep anddamage vehicles driving behind. The structural issues appears to be with the design of the two latches that secure the soft top to window frame. Latches seem too weak/loose to provide secure closure of the soft top. I took the jeep gladiator to a chrysler/dodge/jeep dealer and the dealer service representative stated there was a technical bulletin for adjusting the latches. The dealer mechanic adjusted my jeep's latches according to tsb specifications. In my opinion, the latches are still loose and unstable. Will not drive my jeep at highway speed until the issue is fixed. I contacted chrysler and was assigned a case manager to hopefully resolve the issue.

The roof leaks in the center front and will unexpectedly hit the driver with water while driving.i was told by the dealer service manager that all jeeps leak and that he would try to fix it but it would likely get worse.it is a dangerous event to get hit by water while driving without warning. This is a new jeep 2020 gladiator.since i am told it can't be fixed it would be considered a dangerous flaw.they have offered for me to drive to another dealer in another city to attempt repair.with what i have been told that seems to be an avoidance.

When opening and closing the driver and passenger side doors, there is a noticeable clicking sound. I have since become aware that the aluminum exterior of the door is peeling away from the steel structure inside of the door resulting in this clicking sound due to the flexing of the door.

While traveling at approximately 70mph on the interstate after traveling over a small bump the steering wheel shook violently for 3 to 4 seconds until i slowed down the vehicle to approximately 50mph.a mile or so down the road the vehicle did the same thing at about the same speed

One or more of the suspension kits sold by rock krawler used inferior materials in the control arm bushings that will break down with the use of hydrocarbons (grease) causing slop/play in them which could cause erratic and or loss of steering control particularly in the front arms.their arms require that they be greased periodically as routine maintenance.they did not mail out any notices to the customers that pruchased the defective arms but rather left it up to the consumers to find out on their own.they have a video on youtube and a link on their website in reference to atsb #2 but unaware customers may be in jeopardy with the safety of their lives or others.the bushings as they state were supplied by daystar. Here is a link to their website listing the tsb's:https://rockkrawler.com/technical-service-bulletins/

Death wobble and vibration when vehicle hot in different surfaces like crossing bridgewheels and steering uncontrollable at high speed over 40 mph. Unusual smell inside cabin. This happens on highway after about two hours of driving.

The steering on my vehicle drifts within the lane and is very difficult to operate. The dealer said it is a combination of electric and mechanical steering which is sensitive. Dealer said repair for this issue at this time. Waiting for a software update.

While driving at all speeds on highway and side roads while traveling straight the vehicle wanders both to the left and the right.there is also alot of play in the steering wheel.

A month after purchasing my 2020 jeep gladiator overland i noticed how bouncy it felt on the road and when turning right i felt a grinding sound.the jeep has spent all its time commuting to and from work on the highway.i took off the right front tire and i noticed that the shock bracket that is welded to the axle was completely broken off and making contact with my tire.upon further inspection i noticed it was only a little spot weld that held that whole thing together.the broken shock mount was dangling and tearing the inside of my tire.i had it towed to the dealership and the explanation i received from the service department was that the robot missed a lot of welds on the front axle.it has now been a month now and my jeep is still sitting and awaiting parts. Not much support from jeep, just making payments on a car i can't drive.

The so called death wobblewhile driving under normal conditions....dry pavement at speeds between 60/65mph on both city streets and highways ....it happens quite often...this vehicle has only 4000 miles

Death wobble. When driving at speeds of 65+ mph when the weather is below 38f, if my jeep hits a significant bump in the road the steering wheel begins to violently shake as does the rest of the vehicle. It stops after i reduce my speed to below 55mph.

Rear backup camera stopped working and screw went blue

The car goes into complete halt under bridge with lots of vibration. It reacts by pressing the brakes. It has caused me to crash.

Manufacture safety recall issued nhtsa#21v-028, recall #y07 2018-2020 jl & 2020 jt software update.the is still no solution from jeep.it's been over 3 months.

Unsure of what the issue is but have occasional issues with clutch and steering is very loose.

While exiting the vehicle from the front passenger door, i put my left hand on the door frame to close the front door. Simultaneously, the passenger in the rear passenger side exited the vehicle and closed the door. One of my fingers got caught between the door frame and the door and severedpart of my my finger off. While i understand closing the door on my hand is not jeeps fault, the normal result of closing the door on a finger is not instant amputation! i used a stick to see if i could replicate the results, and 100% of the time the door snapped the stick when placed above the door hinge. If that had been a childs hand, it would have cut it clean off.

Our 2020 jeep gladiator has a defrost issue only defrosts center and in winter weather conditions snow builds up in the view of the driver there are many complaints on the jeep forums. Air flow only comes out of center very little on drivers side and little on passenger side. Brought to dealership to help with issue. Then was told that's how it's designed. Due to safety my wife will not drive long distance when it snows just figured on all issues jeep would have a fix for .

My truck fails to defrost about 1/2 to 1/3 of my windshield on the passenger-side of the vehicle.i noticed this behavior in my truck the day i picked it up. For me, it doesn't defrost the 1/3 of the windshield in front of the passenger seat, inhave heard from other jeep gladiator and jeep wrangler owners that the defrosting issue can be more severe, or cause more of the windshield to be covered in frost.i actually had to carry a piece of cardboard on my dashboard to hold over the vents to distribute the air to the passenger side.when i spoke with jeep over the phone, they just said 'we haven't heard of this/there is no tsb, etc.'i have made it clear many times that i consider it a safety issue with both jeep directly and with two separate dealers'none of which seem to even want to acknowledge or test for the issue'even though visibility (especially in winter conditions) is a huge safety concern in my opinion (if not jeep/fca's).

Driver visor at mount point broke causing visor to hang and obstruct driver view of windshield. Truck has been driven less than 3000 miles/3 months. Apparently this is a common issue. I have attached pictures of the cheap, weak, plastic fitting that swivels and holds most of the visors weight.

On may 08 2019 i purchased a 2020 jeep gladiator . 2 day later my wife and i drove it to myrtle beach sc roughly 850 miles. Immediately we noticed when we go on the highway the washer fluid was not spraying more than 4 inches up from the bottom of the windshield. Needless to say we were lucky our trip had very little rain. When we arrived back home i went into the dealership i bought the jeep from and informed them of the issue. The sprayers work but only under 70 mph 6 month's later i have reported it several more times to feldman jeep woodhaven mi. I contacted jeep multiple time and was told unless a new part comes out there is nothing they can do. The washer fluid now doesn't when driving at speeds in the 50's and 60's now. I live in michigan and basically have to avoid any roads with speed over 50 mph to be abler to safely drive my jeep.

The defroster does is not designed to blow hot air across the entire windshield resulting in a serious visibility issue during inclement weather. In addition to the ice buildup on the windshield the wipers become disabled because the area that they rest on does not receive defroster heat. A quick search online reveals several forums and videos of owners experiencing the same issues. In addition the led headlight design collects snow and ice and becomes completely blocked and results in zero visibility during snowy conditions. The dealer and jeep have said that there is no fix for either problem. The vehicle was in motion at 15 mph when the icing began and did not get better regardless of speed,. The jeep gladiator windshield defrostand led headlight designs are a hazard. Below is a link to the exact issue.https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/defroster-issues.36391/

Front windshield defroster design is [xxx].it only blows air straight up the center.so, where the driver looks, where the passenger looks, and the wipers themselves, does not get defrosted.always covered in ice.i need to stop and scrape the windshield every 10-15 minutes, even with the defrosters on high.horrible, and very unsafe design, by jeep.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The windshield spontaneously cracked while driving out of the driveway . There was no impact or trauma . The truck is brand new , 2 mos old with 2,600 miles on it . It has never been driven off road and the windshield was never impacted by any objects. I was driving ~ 1 mile per hour , turning to go out of my driveway .

I bought this vehicle dec 15, 2020. I have less than 3,000 miles on the vehicle, and i have driven the vehicle less than 3 months. The driver side visor broke at the mount, which creates a visibility issue because it hangs and obstructs the view to drive safely. I noticed that the passenger mount for the visor is also loose/has a lot of play. Apparently this is a common issue with gladiators and wranglers as the dealership confirmed they have had to replace them before and there are a lot of owners of these models experiencing the same issue on practically new vehicles or at low mileage.
