All of my lights came on out of nowhere then car wouldn't turn back on. After diagnostics it was determined to be an electrical issue with the wiring harnesses & also was told that there were issues with my airbags being able to properly deploy. Vehicle was on. Vehicle was in motion at about 30-40mph. I was fortunate enough to make it home and be able to park my car and i was fortunate i wasn't on a highway or it could have been a very dangerous accident.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving approximately 5 mph, the driver's air bag deployed without warning or impact. The contact stated that the air bag exploded and burned both of her hands. In addition, the contact suffered chest and abdominal pain from the impact of the air bag explosion, which required medical attention. Enterprise car sales (501 s. Governor printz boulevard, lester, pa 19029) was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Takata recallmy jeep was t-boned, by on coming traffic. Both doors on the right side, were smashed in. The doors were smashed in, meaning the doors were inoperable. The doors can't be opened, or shut. None of the air bags, in the entire vehicle deployed. Updated 9/19/18

Accident on 12/25/2018 the truck was deam total but no air bag was deployed ,.....

I was in a head-on collision on 9/24/2020. The car is being inspected for repairs now and i am dealing with the insurance claim at this time. My airbags did not go off at a speed of 35-40 mph, striking the vehicle that was at-fault, and then a metal pole. Fortunately did not have my daughter with me.

Air bag warning light stays on

This car was a rental car. My spouse was driving this car and was involved in a car accident. He was hit by a car and then pushed into another car. The jeep was totaled but yet not one airbag was ever deployed. There was supposed to be six airbags in this vehicle but not one ever deployed. My husband suffered a minor head injuryas a result.

Takata recall. At random moments without hitting the wipper switch at all the windshield wipers will come on. This has happened multiple times. Sometimes if i turn my blinker on which is a opposite stick they will activate. When this does happen my lights will flicker very briefly. I have had no kind of alterations done to the vehicle cosmetic or electrical so i have no clue what is causing this. And yes every time it happens it's while the vic is in motion.

Occasionally, while driving, the vehicle will exhibit catastrophic electrical system failures. I was driving home just last night, and my headlights, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers, dash lights, hazard lights, and cruise control all turned off. I was able to limp it home with the help of someone driving in front of me, because i could not see. Imagine doing 45 mph on a turn at night, in an area with no streetlights, and all of a sudden your headlights and running lights turn off. I'm lucky i didn't hit a tree. No hazards means no one would have seen me on the road waiting for help until it was too late.

Vehicle will without warning stall in the middle of driving, in city traffic, on country roads, starting up a hill as well as driving on flat straight road. I've been driving 55mph, 45 mph 25 mph and it will stall, the traction control light will come on. Sometimes the car will not restart for 10+ minutes after stalling. Each time i was driving in traffic, and had children in the vehicle with people behind me. Engine just cuts all power, power steering is lost. Also have noticed a huge drop in fuel efficiency, used about 1/4 of a tank in 30 miles, acceleration and vehicle not shifting normally. This is the 6th time in two weeks it has stalled, and 2nd time to take it into the dealership with this issue. I've only had about 6 months, it was cpo and have driven it about 10,000 miles

Since beginning of 2018 my jeep has stalled while the car was in motion and i was driving. I brought it to dealer on 2/15/18. Dealer says it could be from low oil. When he checked the oil the oil level was good and clean. He recommended to change the oil anyway. Which i did. Again jeep stalled 2 times while in motion and i was driving. On the dashboard the word esc appears and after i restart the engine it disappears. I have not seen a pattern wether it be my speed, turningor stopping at a light. Went back to dealership on 4/9/2018. Service manager checked car by plugging it in for diagnostic test. Only stored codes appeared. No code to show problem. I was told i have to wait about month for a loaner in order to leave the car at the dealership for further review. Driving this jeep is very concerning to me. I never know when and at what speed and if it will turn over.

Jeep will not start with key. Then i had to press on gas to get car to start, now it doesn't start at all with key. I have to use my automatic starter to get my car to start then put my key in. This should be recalled. This is not safe, and obviously a jeep problem. I have researched this, and so many jeep owners have this problem.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The instrument panel failed to illuminate. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,600.

Etc, air bag, tracking indicator lights come on randomly. Have had to go to jiffy lube twice to have sensors reset with one remaining. Eventually indicators come back on again. They come on while driving. Hard to get jeep to move, "jerky" until i reach 20 mph.have to pull over to turn car off then turn back on, continue for a mile and then repeat.

My car has not been starting up. The car would sit for 5 minutes at the least and would not start up right away. I was told it could be one of my sensors so i changed the crankshaft sensor but am still having the same problems but worse. It makes a clicking noise like it's trying to start but won't and the lights flicker, everything resets but doesn't turn on. Now it does this any time i try to start the car. At some points the lights would go off in its own and coke back on or just flicker after it has been started.if and when i can finally get it started, when i press the gas to accelerate or going up a hill, it hesitates and pulls back hard.i then came across this particular recall on my exact vehicle and wondered if maybe this is the same issue causing the same problems. This has been going on for a few months now.

Shuts off while driving then difficult starting again

For a while now when my car accelerates between 3 and 3.5 rpms the throttle control sensor goes off, and when that happens traction control turns off check engine light goes on and i cant go over 20mph.

The vehicle stalls intermittently.when i'm on the highway or just driving sometimes. There wasn't any check engine light on or anything. Found out it was the crankcase sensor. I saw that a lot of people where having this issue.

While driving mostly on highway car hesitates like it will stall or not getting enough gas. Had coils replaced but after awhile did same thing.afraid to drive car as may cause accident.this has been happening for a few months going back and forth to dealer unsuccessfully. Need to know what to do before serious accident occurs.

I have to wait between 10 to 30 mins before ican try to start mycar and also it will start with the remote but when you go out the key in it turns offand iwould have wait longer for it to start by keyi haven't hadmy jeep that longi only had it four monthsand now i am havingproblems withit

While driving no sensors came on and all of a sudden while driving down the road the car rpm gage dropped to zero and the car wouldn't run anymore. Stuck in the middle of the road i could not get the car to crank in order to move it. Lights, radio, heat all still functioned?

On tuesday, 9/15/2020 i went to turn on my jeep compass from my driveway and it would not start. However the check engine light came on. Later that evening i tried starting my jeep again, it started with no problem, and the check engine light was now off. On friday, 6/18/2020 i took my vehicle to advanced auto where they checked my battery, alternator, and starter - all 3 items came back good. On my way home from advanced auto i was stopped at a traffic light on south railroad street in palmyra, pa. When the light turned green for me to go, i went to release my foot off of the brake and the vehicle just completely shut off - it was just completely dead, nothing was working.i then went to put my foot back on the brake, and i felt pressure underneath the brake that wouldn't allow me to completely press it down. After a few minutes i tried turning my key and restarting the car, and it turned back on and i was thankfully able to drive it back home. On monday, 9/21/2020 i called a tow truck and had it towed to ladd-hanford in lebanon, pa. On 9/22/2020 kelsey shellehamer called me from ladd-hanford to inform me that the crankshaft sensor was faulty, that there had been recalls for the same model but just not my year, so she was going to call chrysler and see if they would pay for it anyway. On 9/23/2020 i received another call from kelsey. She stated that she spoke to chrysler, their warranty department and also mvp, all of which declined responsibility for fixing the part.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v609000 (electrical system). The part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Key will not turn. Stationary, turn steering wheel and key will turn. One time refused to turn. Had car towed.

I was driving my car and i turn on the "air conditioner" i hear this awful noise coming out of my glove box area, it was so startling that it took my eyes off the road and i hit a tree.i have the sound coming on every time i drive my crashed car.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled resulting in a loss of power steering assist. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle resumed normal operation after the vehicle was turned off for 5 minutes and restarted. The vehicle was taken to local dealer ray price chrysler dodge jeep ram located at 2969 pa-940 suite c, mt pocono, pa 18344, where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed nor repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

Our vehicle acts as if it has an electrical problem, radio no longer works but clock does, engine crack shaft makes it hard for vehicle to start. Car was checked for batter, alternator and starter and check out all good. It struggles to start just started a few weeks ago.it takes alot to build speed sometimes and stalls sometimes acting as if it wants to cut off.

All of my lights came on out of nowhere then car wouldn't turn back on. Vehicle was in motion at about 30-40mph. I was fortunate enough to make it home and be able to park my car and i was fortunate i wasn't on a highway or it could have been a very dangerous accident.

Drivers seat belt randomly unlocks when traveling at any speed and on various road surfaces. I travel less than 2 miles to work and total on average about 20 miles/week. It has even happened on the highway while going 65mph (was not adjusting my position or moving in anyway). I purchased my 2016 compass 4 months ago, and this has happened over 2 dozen times. It is also happening more frequently. I know the seat belt is clicked in properly because the alarm & dashboard light turn off. I hope it is investigated asap before is causes serious injury or fatality. *dtconsumer stated i don't have any service records because i haven't had it serviced yet. I purchased it mid june from berlin city in portland who performed a 120 point inspection and seat belts were found to be fine. I was trying to find out if it was a trend and it was something that jeep will own and take care of fixing.

All warning lights flashing on and off randomly and dinging while in motion. Also vehicles doesn't want to accelerate and rpms jumping up and down.

When vehicle is idling at a stop, park, gear select in reverse or drive then intermediately stalls

Car loses power at times on the interstate and pulling into traffic. Feels like it's shuddering/missing gear when accelerating. Etc indicator light comes on when it gets very bad.

Alternator failed prematurely at only 20,358 miles.

Radio stops working when it wants and then comes back on, but only a few stations end up working then after. Only wants to work 40% of the time. Have not been to the dealer ship yet. Also the passenger seat when there is an actually passenger in the seat says there is not and the jeep dings the whole car ride, even though they are buckled up. The car thinks that they are not.

I have driven this vehicle for 3 years with no issues until recently.i take care of it and maintenance it regularly.around april 29th i felt some steering issues and brought it in to firestone who told me it needed to be taken to the dealership.at the dealership, they replaced an abs sensor and a few tire sensors. Since then on multiple occasions the vehicle has randomly and intermittently stalled while driving.i can be driving at any speed and the vehicle will randomly lose acceleration, power steering, and brakes.it has happened after a turn, while just going straight at 45 mph, while in stop-and-go traffic, and when trying to accelerate after sitting at a red light.there is no rhyme or reason.the ignition has to be turned off and turned back on to restart the vehicle.i have nearly caused a collision twice.i brought it to the dealership on june 22nd and they had my car until june 25th.they replaced the crankshaft position carriage, and some frayed wiring.the issue happened 3 more times after those repairs.i had it towed to the dealership on june 27th and it is still in the shop (today is july 2nd). They are telling me they cannot recreate the problem and want me to take the vehicle back without doing any repairs.i am now working with the gm and cfo of the dealership to try and resolve this and i have filed a complaint with chrysler (case #59096741).i do not feel safe driving the vehicle and i refuse to put my children in it.all service records that i have are inside the vehicle at the dealership.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. There was an abnormal clicking noise detected. The vehicle was towed twice to an independent mechanic where the camshaft crank sensor was replaced. The vehicle was also towed to (i.g. Burton chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat 605 bay rd, milford, de 19963(800) 796-9702) where it was diagnosed that the camshaft crank sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted who referred contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 61,935.

My vehicle is stalling and jerking when i'm driving no indicator lights are on.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The failure was intermittent and recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the crank shaft sensor however, the failure persisted. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.

Car stalls for no reason while driving.the vin shows no recalls, but chrysler recalled vehicles for this problem in dec. 16, 2016 ( recall 16v907000), including 2016 jeep compass. Has happened multiple times over the past month.

The electronic throttle control is defunct and the car has low mileage. I stall out while driving!

My vehicle was being driven down a highway and was pulled over in the early morning by a state trooper. The officer came up to the vehicle and stated that there was no tail lights. We were giving a warning and was told to get it fixed and we were on our way again. Since then still haven't come up with a solution to fix it. All other lights like head lights, reverse lights, turn signals, brakes lights and bright lights all work just not the tail lights. I believe that it is something with the tipm because i ran a diagnostic on it and was given a code which also stated the tipm reading is low. It has not been repaired yet due to how much it coasts to get it repaired.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving various speeds, the check engine and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Cpcs:i leased a 2016 jeep compass last year. Two months ago i received an important safety recall notice in the mail. I made an appointment at my dealership and waited around for two hours only to be told that they don't have the part. After calling dealerships and the jeep hotline innumerable times, it appears that no one has the acquired part.the consumer stated the engine could stall while being driven due to the camshaft wire harness being defective.

My 2016 jeep compass began stalling while idling at stop lights as well as stalling while driving last week. I've googled and i see that several jeep owners are having this issue as well. I've not found a recall for my specific vin, however, there was one issued for dodge and jeeps manufactured from may, 8, 2016 - july 12, 2016. Crankshaft and camshaft sensor wire harness not manufactured correctly, this is mainly for 2.0 l and 2.4 l engines. Recall # s89/nhtsa hov-907. This is outrageuous! auto shops can't seem to diagnose this issue properly, but somehow the nhtsa did! my car is in the shop as i write this, i"ve missed two days of work and i am very upset that this vehicle has been sold, and so-called inspected prior to being sold. This recall was issued back in january of 2017, the statement was dated february 2017. I bought my jeep in january of 2018, i am the second owner, and now, i f eel as though chrysler is covering this up by not issuing a total recall on all vins this should have been sent out to all dealers, especially pre-owned dealers.

From on ramp to i290w. Going 30 mph and accelerated to get on highway and car engine was revving and vehicle would not go faster with stepping on gas pedal. I was on the highway and unable to go with the flow of traffic. Dash lights lit up and i had to go as best i could to emergency lane. I near caused an accident with the oncoming traffic on the highway

Electronic control throttle started to go all of a sudden

I took my car to get fixed and the jeep compass was having issues with the crankshaft my crankshaft have to be completely replaced and i just found out that there was a recall on the 2016 jeep compasses.my car won't turn off at high speed and that little speed in the middle of nowhere at a light driving this was extremely dangerous

My car has not been starting up. The car would sit for 5 minutes at the least and would not start up right away. I was told it could be one of my sensors so i changed the crankshaft sensor but am still having the same problems but worse. This has been going on for a few months now.

While driving on the highway on two separate occasions now, my jeep suddenly loses power and decelerates. The engine light, electronic throttle control light and stability control light come on, the jeep runs very rough and will not accelerate. After pulling over and turning the car off and back on the engine light stays on and the other lights go off but after driving a bit the problem occurs again.after researching online there are many reports of this happening to other jeep compasses.please note this has happened on the highway it has been a particularly scary situation due to the fact that the jeep rapidly decelerates and the traffic behind me has had difficulty slowing as quickly.

My car would shut off while driving on highway and streets. My car shut off at high speed, low speed, short distance and long distance. I was advised by a mechanic that this was the crankshaft sensor that was recalled on 2016 jeep vehicles though mid july and my car is august (recall s89). I took vehicle to jeep dealership and was advised that the cause is the crankshaft censor but im being charged $350 for this same bad part because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. I almost dies on the highway due to this faulty part. I took my car to 3 mechanics and will out of pocket $800 because the recall did not extend to my vehicle. Its wrong and extremely unsafe!!!!

Stops running while driving down the road. Has stopped at least 20 times. There is no lights that come on when this happens. It is hard to steer car to the side of the road when this happens.

Engine will stall with no warning in the middle of driving it. Has happened multiple times already in the last few days.

I was driving up a mountain highway doing about 55 miles an hour and my car completely stalled out. It's like my car just completely shut off but i still had power. I was able to drift off onto the side where it was confirmed my car had just shut off. I tried restarting it three times with no success. I waited a few minutes and tried to restart it and it started. I tested it and it was running so i tried to get back on the highway where it instantly shut off again this time the engine shut off again and i lost control of my steering and just rolled backwards. No warning lights came on. I had to have it towed back down the mountain. I would like to note i had sufficient gas and oil. My car gets serviced regularly and i've had no other issues with it until now. I would also like to note i have found other recalls on this exact make and model for engine failure! where the exact same thing happened to others.

Crank shaft sensor , car stalls, first started in july 2018...check engine light came on and threw back code for crank shaft sensor

While riding this evening my engine suddenly stalled while driving on a 3 lane road. This is the 3rd time this has happened. After stopping the car started after about 10 minutes. I took it to a auto shop because the check engine light came on this time. The code said it was the camshaft sensor. When i made it home i entered my vin on vehicle history.com and it started recall campaign 16v907000 for my car however on the nhtsa website it says there is not. Im going to contact a jeep dealer in the morning to see if it can be fixed.

My 2016 jeep compass keeps stalling over the past six months (70,000m).it will not accelerate at times and just stalls sometime in the town and some times on the intersate.i have had it at the dealer twice and they replaced another known issue with the throttle body (had that replaced on my daughters 2017 jeep compass) but it still didn't help this jeep.replaced the throttle body twice and the dealers only suggestion was to sell it.(check engine light only came on once- and no other alarms but in a 6 hour drive it happened 15-20 times.fearful to pass a car for fear it might stall again...

Vehicle was being driven at normal speed 60 mph.on new jersey parkway sunday aug. 20 th 8:45 pm ( near exit iselin ) when without warning vehicle started to rapidly decelerate to 25 mph. Put on hazard flashers so that i could warn other drivers that my vehicle was in distress. Dashboard showed engine light warning . Drove additional 2 miles and got vehicle to nearest gas station and shut down engine, called chryslercustomer assistance and filled a report. Vehicle was going to be towed but it resumed to run after 30 min. Normally. Very bizarre!!!!!

The engine keeps stalling. Its similar to the same description for the recall that just so happen my car isn't linked to dealing with the crankshaft or camshaft.

The car has been to multiple jeep dealerships and it keep stalling and shutting down but no problems found. It has shut down in traffic! this has happened on multiple days. We have checked recalls and none apply to the jeep. I have two small a kids and this is absolutely ridiculous.

After starting the vehicle and letting it run for a few minutes, we turned off the engine and left the vehicle.within a few minutes, we noticed a fire in the engine compartment.we attempted to put out the fire with three extinguishers but were not able to do so.another employee called 911 and the local fire dpt. Put out the fire.the vehicle was a total loss.we contacted chrysler who sent an investigator to inspect the damage.chrysler later sent us an e-mail stating they could notdetermine that the fire was a result of a "manufacturing or assembly error".we believe the damage is a result of a defect in the vehicle.even though the vehicle is still under the powertrain warranty, chrysler refuses to cover the loss.

On december 9, 2016 i rented a jeep compass and on that day i had a roll over accident.i was driving in the country.very low traffic area.before applying the brake, i was driving at a safe speed for the road conditions - fifteen to twenty mph on fresh snow and some packed snow over a paved road base.at about twenty to twenty five feet before a stop sign i began to apply the brake.the brake did nothing.there was clicking noises and the compass seemed to accelerate.i continued to apply the brake as i rolled through the stop area for the stop sign.the paved road ended at the stop sign and turned into a dirt road base. At this point i turned the wheel as the momentum continued.i was hoping the dirt road base would provide grab for the turned front tires and steer the compass to the direction of the dirt road.there was no grab and the compass continued to drive across the dirt road for about another twenty feet as i continued to apply the brake. I had applied the brake for about forty-five feet when i see the ten foot drop ditch ahead of me.the compass didn't slow, ever.it seemed to accelerate.it wouldn't be directed by steering it.i had no control over it.at this point i did all that i could think of to avoid an accident.i looked at the ditch and knew that the suv and i would receive damage.the compass rolled into the ditch.when the suv finally stopped i was up side down.for me to best describe this jeep compass is that it was a "terminator".it had a mind of its own.once i applied the brake, i had no control over it.

Vehicle stalls out and leaves motorists stranded. Engine stalls and has the potential to resume normal power but has a serious lag between power given and power accepted by engine (2-5 secs). Possibility for collision is great and possibility for being left stranded is great. Battery and normal maintenance has been performed.

The engine stalls while driving. I've read this issue is present in other dodge and jeep compass models of this year, however, the recall that exists for those vehicles doesn't appear to exist for my vehicle. This is incredibly unsafe as the engine immediately stalls as i'm driving the vehicle down the road and i'm afraid of crashing.

About 2 weeks ago after i put gas in the car the check engine light came on we checked everything cannot figure out anything wrong with it then the airbag lights came on so we took the battery out put it back in and reset the lights. The check engine light came on the next time i drove it. Roughly 3 or 4 days after that it was morning it was misty the roads were wet i went about 5 blocks took a right turn went another 5 blockstook a left turn and all the sudden anti skid lights came on then the airbag light came on and then the lightning bolt light came on the car had no power.soi pulled it over and we had it towed homei had a diagnostics test in it's c1221 i believe was the code we have not drive it since.

As i am driving the car stalls. This happens a lot when i slow down then press the gas again, also when i turn. This happens everyday on the highway and side streets, this has lead to almost getting into multiple car accidents. Be advised you are only allowed to report one date of occurrence, this is a daily issue. There is a recall for the 2016 compass that describes the issue my car is having to the t. It does not include my vin number, but i think this should be re-evaluated as this is a very dangerous issue. Be advised the recall s89 states, 'the crankshaft or camshaft sensor may only work intermittently, causing the engine to stall.' please see the attached for proof of recall details. *dt

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled. Once the vehicle was restarted, it operated normally. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was referred to the local dealer. The contact called three rivers chrysler jeep dodge ram (2633 w liberty ave, pittsburgh, pa 15216, (412) 343-1200) and was informed to schedule a service appointment. The engine stalled without warning five times while driving between 8-24-20 and 8-30-20.the rpm's went to 0 and no power steering or power brakes. I spoke to tyler at la porte chrysler in la porte, in and set a service appointment. A s89 recall had been issued, but an incomplete recall had been performed. Only two of three wiring harnesses had been replaced. They still have my vehicle. I do not feel safe driving it not knowing when or where it may stall. It stalled under a variety of circumstances, busy thoroughfare or at the atm.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle hesitated and the electronic throttle controller warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified. The failure mileage was 57,000.

This morning (08.20.21) i was driving to work when about 1 mile in i was going 45mph and my car started stalling, causing it to drop to 10mph. The engine light and traction control light are consistently on. The electronic throttle control light is constantly blinking when i have the ignition on. My car has been in limp mode all day and will not go over 10mph. I almost got hit by the car behind me when it happened and almost hit someone else trying to get out of their way. Iā€™ve been looking into it all day and i found that there was a recall ā€œs89ā€¯ on jeep compass 2016 made anytime between may 9, 2016 and july 15, 2016 and which came equipped with 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engines. Mine was manufactured july 15, 2016 and is a 2.0-liter.

Sometimes when drivingit stutters and acts like it can't catch up to the speed that i'm going.

Car will not start makes clicking noises. Have all power, lights, radio, air conditioning but wont crank. Took it to the dealership and said it might be the key fob so got a new one. Worked for about 2 months and is starting again. The auto start will start it but when i put the key on and put it in the on position it shuts down. If i let it sit for a moment it starts.sometimes it doesnt happen for a week or two, sometimes a couple times a day. I dont want it cutting off on me while driving the busy roads i have to travel on.

Car stalls for no reason while driving.the vin shows no recalls, but chrysler recalled vehicles for this problem in dec. 16, 2016 ( recall 16v907000), including 2016 jeep compass. Has happened multiple times over the past month.

Stalled and end board ..

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact stated that the engine stalled without warning while driving. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally; however, the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to miami lakes jeep (16600 nw 57th ave, miami lakes, fl 33014, (305) 820-3812), but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer more than ten times within the last few years. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

Car will not start, has power but no turnover, no crank. It happens randomly, have had battery, alternator and starter checked, ignition and keys but no codes kicking out. Dealer has been able to replicate issue however no idea what the cause is. There isn't a specific time or reason it just happens. Sometimes you can just shut it off and try again and it starts and sometimes it lets me sit for 15 - 30 min before it starts.currently the car is back at the dealership but they have no clue.

While merging onto the 110s from the 10e, the engine turned itself off. I was going almost 60 mph. The steering column was completely locked into place as the vehicle began to slow, preventing me from being able to steer effectively. I had my two children in the car - my 1 year old daughter and my 7 year old son. Luckily, i was not involved in an accident. I wasn't able to get onto a shoulder completely as i couldn't steer. I turned the key into the engine off position, waited a few seconds and turned the engine over. It started with no problem. However the check engine light turned on. The engine light was no longer on when i started the car several days later - i didn't drive it for obvious safety reasons.i took the vehicle to a mechanic for a diagnostic who told me that the vehicle is in need of a new crank shaft sensor and two cam shaft sensors - that all three should be replaced at the same time. I called jeep, after a friend sent me a recall notice on 2016 jeep compasses with this same issue. I was informed that my car's vin did not match the vehicles that were recalled despite experiencing the same dangerous mechanical malfunction.

While driving car loosing power it has been doing this for a while.theengine light and a light looks like a z sideways.

Car lost power three times in the last two weeks. Twice while driving, one of those times was on the highway, and the third time when stopped at a red light

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving and shifting into second gear, the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the shoulder, waited a few seconds, and the vehicle began accelerating normally again. In addition, the brakes failed and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to homer skelton jeep chrysler (7661 us-51, millington, tn 38053, (901) 872-0195) where it was diagnosed that new brakes with sensors and pad locks needed to be installed. The brake failure recurred. The acceleration failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 51,117.

Engine jerks as if it's a stall issue

Engine stalls/stutters randomly

While driving approximately 15 (fifteen) miles on a city street, i noticed my car had consumed 1/3 of a full fuel tank. Engine will begin to stall out if speed is 25mph or under causing an abrupt and noticeable decrease in speed resulting in people having to swerve to avoid hitting me. Change oil light constantly flashes across the odometer and will not reset no matter what i do.

When the vechile is stopped at a red light or stop sign the motor will just stall we will have to put it in park and then start it again and it will be fine it doesn't happen all the time but i have had it a year and it's happened 4 times and we just had the throttle body replaced and it's still doing it

My car suddenly stalled and caused my wheel to lock up. My car would not accelerate until i shut the car off and then turned it back on

For a while now when my car accelerates between 3 and 3.5 rpms the throttle control sensor goes off, and when that happens traction control turns off check engine light goes on and i cant go over 20mph.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While operating the vehicle and turning left, the vehicle stalled and the malfunction indicator light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but the failure recurred the following day. After investigating failure on the internet, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 39,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked, lunged, and there was a loss of power. In addition, the abstraction warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to lithia chrysler jeep dodge of tri-cities (7171 w canal dr, kennewick, wa 99336, 509-591-0629) to be diagnosed, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling), but the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vin was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 53,100.

2016 jeep compass recall - the power and engine light comes on and the car loses power.i have to cut it off and restart.the engine light stays on for a while and after a couple of engine starts, the lights go off.when it loses power, pushing on the gas, the car doesn't get any power to move forward.it's only coasting along.this has happened on the highway and in the city.it doesn't matter what speed i am going.very scary, i have to pull over on the highway to turn off the ignition and turn it back on to continue.i'm afraid eventually it won't turn back on.it started happening around may 2018.just purchased the

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving 75 mph, the contact heard an abnormal knocking noise coming from the engine compartment. The noise occurred intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,485.

My throttle body sensor is coming on and causing my engine to buck and stall while driving (happens at anytime).i understand there is a recall on some 2016 models but should be across the board for 2016.i am literally paying out of pocket for a known issue for that year.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle jerked back and forth. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,000.

I have a 2016 jeep compass and it randomly just turns off while i am driving it. My car has 55,000 miles on it. When it first happened it had a code for a crank sensor and i was told it required an update. The update did not change a thing. My car was still turning off at random times. This last time it turned off at a red light and while in drive began to roll backwards down a hill into oncoming traffic. Once i stopped the car, put on my flashers, and had it in park my jeep compass would not start again. I then had to flag down a police officer to help with the traffic around me. My car eventually started and i drove it right to the jeep dealer who told me there was no codes and nothing wrong with my car, which clearly there must be problem. I do not feel safe for myself or others while driving this car. Chrysler needs to fix this problem. There have been many people on this site complaining of the same exact problem. 2016 jeep compass had a recall for the crank sensor but my car did not fall under this recall but clearly it should have. This is my 3rd time at the chrysler dealer who have been unable to recreate the problem i have been experiencing.

A couple months ago the vehicle would just stop while driving no matter where i was. Which is very dangerous, then i would stop and it would start back up. I took it in and they fixed that issue. This morning i went outside to start the car and the vehicle won't start at all. It sounds like it wants to start, but won't.

My vehicle is stalling and jerking when i'm driving no indicator lights are on.

Engine stalls out while driving down the road, can lead to crash or accident, vehicle will not restart for multiple hours after incident. Manufactures crankshaft sensor is faulty. Vehicle was in motion on city street.

My 2016 jeep compass has stalled out twice within approximately a 7-week period.once in a parking lot (2/8/2017) and today (3/29/2017) a stall-out occurred in traffic.today, i was stopped on the highway to make a left-hand turn. Traffic was backed-up, so when it began to move, i moved my foot from the brake to the gas pedal to make the turn, and the jeep stalled.i put the jeep in neutral, and it immediately started.however, this was in heavy traffic. Between the stall-outs, the vehicle will "jerk" periodically, especially after slowing down and then having to accelerate.these hard "jerks" have become more frequent and are occurring on a daily basis.both issues appear to occur when speed is lower and/or have to decelerate or accelerate because of traffic.also, if the vehicle has sat overnight or an extended period of time. No lights appear on the dashboard during these "jerks" or stall-outs.today will make the 4th time within the seven-week period i will have the vehicle back at the dealership's service department. I bought the vehicle new and have had it less than one year.it has approximately 11,500 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving 70 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to straub chrysler dodge jeep ram (1502 wheeling ave, glen dale, wv 26038) where it was diagnosed that the camshaft needed replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

While getting onto a highway, my rpms dropped and i temporarily lost power steering and started slowing down, then it "caught" and i was able to drive it straight to a car place to get the free diagnostics. Everything came back normal so i left. Later in the day as i was pulling out of my neighborhood it stalled again and completely shut off this time. When trying to turn it on again it either would but then would immediately stall again or it would just never start. While trying to turn it on, all the dash lights light up including check engine, which has not been on until the car stalled the second time.

My car continually shut downs while driving!this is very unsafe and happens while i am driving on the pa turnpike cruise control set. No warning no sound, the car does not over heat. The car just shuts down.i immediately called my local jeep dealer first time it happened, at approx 3:15 am in the morning and left a message.i dropped my vehicle off 2 days later (i believe) and by that time it was jumping as well when increasing speed or coming around corners.they stated they could not replicate the issue.i went to the dealership and went out with the service mgr and replicated the issue.car did not stall at that time and i was told with no codes, or not being able to replicate the issue they cannot determine the cause.spark plugs replaced $300 later no jumping but car is still stalling!!!!!!!this is a very unsafe situation.my car is continuing to stall while driving to work in the early am 3am on the pa turnpike.i could be killed by tractor trailer. Again this am, i had cruise control set at 65 mph - car stalled no warning!. Thankfully i was in the right lane and coasted to the shoulder.put my car in park, turn the key to off and attempted to restart my car - nothing!! would turn but not start, waited approx 1 minute and tried again, same thing would not start. Waited another minute, tried again and the car started and now the service engine light is on.i drove to work at 55 mph with flashers on - totally unsafe on the pa turnpike.i called my dealer immediately and left another message for the service mgr around 3am that this happened again. He advised take to an auto zone to have the code checked since they do for free.i have no confidence in this car-i drive almost 2 hrs to go to work i am so scared of this car and afraid i am going to get killed on the turnpike because of this. Will go to autozone call joe,and attempt to get home to dealer

While driving during the work day on a busy street my jeep compass stalled out putting myself and others at risk of an accident. No lights or warning signs were visible on the dashboard making this a sudden and scary event. After being it to the dealership they assessed the issue as the crankshaft power sensor, after doing more research i see that this has been an issue as well as a previous recall on other 2016 jeep compassā€™ and feel that now mine should be added to the list as the safety of myself and others were put at risk as a result.

Recall on 2016 jeep compass from may 9th- july 15the crankshaft , camshaft sensor may only work intermittingly causing engine to stall.at 67,000 miles my car which always ran very well stalled, "engine shut off in mid flight"i was driving up a hill, slowed to stop and turn right when the engine died, completely shut off.i put jeep in park.tired to restart which it did not restart and i waited an hour for the triple aaa.we brought it to a mechanic who told me he could not find anything wrong with it as the diagnostic tests showed nothing , he started it and claimed he drove down the rode and back and it was fine.i picked up my jeep and drove it home but was afraid to drive it anywhere.i called mechanic number 2 who took a look at it and told me his diagnostic equipment showed no code, he drove it and could not reproduce the problemhe repaired the throttle body replace it and cleaned iac valve and mass air flow sensors.told me it was fine should be ok to drive.i drove it off the lot not more than 15 miles as i was turning right slowing down then accelerating it stalled in mid flight car engine died.i put flashers on and put car in park, then 2 minutes later it started and i drove home.there is something very seriously wrong with this jeep it could easily be involved in a collision as it is unpredictable when it will stop, engine dies.i will take it back to mechanic number 2 for a second evaluation.i have called the dealer.they told me they would charge me for diagnostic testing and if no problem i would have to pay them $117 for the hour they would put the mechanic on it to check it.

Jeep repeatedly leaks from dome light after it rains. My map light isfilled with water when it rains.i had puddles of water in front and rear passenger foot area. The car smells really bad.my jeep compass stopped in the middle of the road just a month after i bought it.

Car is not on recall list but is acting the same as the recall 2016 jeep compass crankshaft or camshaft sensor. Key not working sometimes and car will not go past 20 . In shop more than we have had it.

Owns a 2016 jeep compass. As of 10/07, the engine stalled while attempting to start after being driven for approx 30 min. The check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to be driven and was checked upon parking. The following morning (10/08) vehicle stalled upon attempting to start after being driven for approx 10-15 min. The check engine indicator was still illuminated. Was able to drive car to work and checked several times to see if car would stall upon starting. No issues and check engine indicator disappeared. Contacted recall/chrysler dept, referred to nearest dealership in which i was advised that my vin was not associated with the current recall & not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage is only approximately 45,800. I am afraid of the vehicle stalling while driving and/or causing a crash with child in the car.

I was going west on fair view avenue in tucson, arizona when my car suddenly shifted out of drive into something below drive. It started shimmying back and forth and would not proceed.i was coming upon a 4 way stop, so i finally got the car back into drive; it seemed ok.i drove very carefully and slowly home without incident--maybe 4 or 5 blocks.however, when i turned into my garage, the gearshift shifted below again and my car shimmied out of control back and forth and the right side of my car was badly scraped, and the left taillight cracked.so, the first time i was briefly stationary waiting for the cars ahead of me to move, but the second time i was in motion but moving very slowly to negotiate the entrance to the garage, so almost stationary.the garage was not damaged.i do not have a cell phone that can take photos at this time, but i hope to secure a cell phone.the dealership always inspects my car for its regular service, so they must haverecords.thank you for your attention to this matter.

My jeep compass 2016 had been to the mechanic in 2 different garages.for 60 days i've experienced engine shut off while in motion.there was no warning, no engine light.no warning what so ever.this situation was very dangerous as my car would lose power in the middle of the 4 way intersection, it would shut off on the freeway.stall out and shut off at stop lights.i was afraid of driving my car but i had to get to work which was 30 miles away from my home.2 mechanics told me that the engine on diagnostic testing showed no codes, they did not know what was wrong with it. Finally a mechanic looked at my research and agreed to replace the crankshaft sensor which had been recalled on 2016 compass jeep but my vin was not under the recall (why)after this sensor was replaced the car drove perfectly, no more stalled engine and shut off while driving.i beleive that jeep chrysler should pay for this repair as it is a 2016 jeep compass and they have fixed others.i will never buy a jeep or chrysler.most scary car problem i ever encountered.i am a 55 year old driver, having driven over a million miles in my life time.to have a car shut off its engine in mid flight is very dangerous.hope this will help others understand what is happening if they own a jeep.

Engine stalls all a sudden while driving, then the dashboard sensor lights come on like the engine light the etc light and the esp light. You do not currently have a recall on my vin#, but i believe this to be a recall issue.please investigate this being i need to have this fixed.pretty please and thank you for you time!

Takata recall. When accelerating in the car the engine randomly stalls and the car jerks. It happens on the highways and side streets. The 2016 jeep compass says it has a recall for an issue with the crankshaft but my specific one has this issue and there are no recalls associated with my vin.

I bought a 2016 jeep compass brand new from the dealership.after only three years (72,500 miles), the transmission completely failed while i was driving on a major highway.the jeep, which is a manual 5 speed transmission, would not shift into any gears.it made horrendous grinding noises as the vehicle failed and failed to shift into gear.prior to it completely dying, it was stalling out on me and slipping out of second gear while driving it.this is a safety concern, not to mention how disappointing that a car which is only three years old would have a transmission that completely failed on it.the jeep was well-maintained and garage kept.it was never driven anywhere except main roads and highways.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. Also, on several occasions, it took multiple attempts to start the engine. On another occasion, while driving at an unknown speed, the contact's vehicle suddenly stalled and was rear ended by another vehicle. The driver suffered neck and back injuries and the front and rear passengers suffered neck injuries. There was no medical attention received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer (ray laethem chrysler dodge jeep ram, 18001 mack ave, detroit, mi) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 23,000. *dtconsumer stated vehicle is waiting to be repaired.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving and making a turn, the vehicle lunged forward and stalled. It took numerous attempts to restart the vehicle and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the camshaft needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated the vehicle was exhibiting the same failure as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 71,000.

Stalled and end board ..

My car is intermittently stalling on idle....

About 3 weeks ago my car started stalling out on me out of nowhere, i took it to a mechanic so they could try to diagnose the problem, they thought it was the battery so i bought a new one( $183). 2 days later the car started stalling out on me again while driving on the freeway a cop had to push my car out of the way because i was blocking traffic and in an unsafe location, i had to get it towed ($80) & took it to a different mechanic to diagnose the problem ($198) they said my car had a safety recall due to the crankshaft/camshaft sensor they recommended that i should take it to the dealership because that is the manufacturers fault and chrysler will fix it for free. When i went to the dealership they said my car does not qualify and that i would have to rediagnose my car for $200 and pay $540 for them to fix this issue which i am not at fault for. I asked if i would be able to get a rental through them they said i would have to pay out of pocket for it. I started a case with chrysler on 07/29 and am still waiting on the specialist to review this. I am frustrated. Every day that goes by is another day that i have to figure out how to get to work whether it be asking for a ride or paying for a rental out of pocket. I would understand if i got in a wreck and the sensor messed up i would pay for it myself no questions asked. All i'm asking is for chrysler to honor the safety recall and fix this issue. If you were in the same position i'm sure you would be stressed out as well. The car is not safe and has left me stranded while i was driving, now 4 times. My car is 2016 there is no reason this should be happening!!!! also, i have kept all receipt and would like to be reimbursed for the headache & unnecessary charges that this has caused me.

I believe my vehicle fits recall of the canam or power train sensor that needs to be fixed. My engine keeps coming on. The car bucks but not all the time. Feels like something going on with trainmisiion and at 87,000 that impossible. Please look into this matter. Yes believe recall fits my car

When vehicle is idling at a stop, park, gear select in reverse or drive then intermediately stalls

Since i bought the vehicle i've had issues with it missing, or miss firing while driving. Ive always heard there were recalls for my vehicle, but have not had success in getting it fixed unless i fix something that should have been fixed before i bought it, and it's only gotten worse. To be specific, when i press down on the gas lightly it jumps, sometimes pretty hard, it feels like the gas isn't firing when i press on the accelerator, if i press harder it works better though. It happens on highways or city streets, mostly under 60 mph, but always in motion, but it can shake everyone in the vehicle when it misses and it worries me that it can be affecting the engine in the long run. But i noticed it after i bought the vehicle from carite very soon after i bought it.

Car loses power at times on the interstate and pulling into traffic. Feels like it's shuddering/missing gear when accelerating. Etc indicator light comes on when it gets very bad.

Car throwing catalytic converter code. Was in shop 3 times this year with engine issues. Stalling out on me in the middle of nowhere. Misfiring on multiple cylinders. Driving up hills overheats losses power only goes 40 mpr up hills. Cuts out randomly.

My car power train went out as i only have the car for 11 months and transmission is not working well i was driving home and the car rpm was going to 6

My 2016 jeep compasses transmission has failed at 96000 miles. It has the 2.0l i4 with the cvt, its fwd. I was traveling at 35mph when it failed.

At 60,000 miles a whomp, whomp noice started from the rear of the jeep while driving.most noticeable at 45 to 55 mph on highway.dealership diagnosed it as a rear hub bearing.total cost for repair was $613.00 before tax.

Ii kept my jeep compass up todate with oll changes and brakes and tires.i have now experineced a real bad noise from under the engine.i thought it was my brakes or pulley.it turns out i need a new transmission.i have a 5 speed.i have metal shaving in my transmission and my car is not even 5 years old.i love my car and now it is going to cost me 4000+ to get it fixed.there are other warrantys on the same type of cars but not mines.

Transmission over heats and then stalls out when it is warm out. The dealerships i have gone to said there is nothing wrong with the jeep compass because it doesn't act up for them. Normally make it 45 minutes in summer before it over heats. Cant keep car over 2,000 rmp in summer or transmission will over heat even faster. Has been happening many time over the last 2 summers. Non-dealerships wont look at the car and they say that the dealerships need to fix it.

Ride down the highway going 70 and all of a sudden the speedometer begins to decrease. I had all power, but no acceleration. I pulled of the road and shut off the engine. Turned it back on and it ranned fine. Not more than 5 minutes its was back no acceleration. So thank god i was able to use the force from the hill to cruise on home on the back roads. The car is only 3 years old at 79,000 miles. So no warranty!!! it has to be towed to the dealership! new vehicle should not be having problems like this!!!!

Abs 4wheel drive and traction control light stay on and won't come off and since they popped up i've been having issue with my acceleration. It's been causing my car to randomly stop accelerating while i was driving on the highway. My 4wheel drive light pops on a few minutes after i start driving but the other 2 lights stay on all the time.

While at a complete stop, either at light or in traffic, my rpm gauge needle would drop to 0 rpms, however my battery is still active. I will then have to cycle key to turn vehicle back on. This also happened as vehicle was moving/approaching intersection with traffic light. As i coasted to intersection my rpms again went to zero. I then reluctantly was able to turn steering wheel (although lost power steering) to the right and continued to coast onto shoulder of road. Put car into park, cycled key and car turned on but took a several seconds for engine to turn over. Took vehicle into chrysler dealership 3x for this issue and they couldn't find problem and couldn't duplicate it while driving it for a few days.

My mechanic believe's i have a sensor issue going on with my transmission. It seems to have the same issues as other certain model years as mine. Every drive i take, the transmission slips. He has ruled out everything else, and one or two of the sensors are pointing to my transmission issues. This problem has almost caused me an accident multiple different times. At this point i don't feel comfortable driving it.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While the contact was reversing out of the driveway, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact was informed the vehicle had previously been repaired per the recall, but the failure recurred. Also, while driving various speeds, the vehicle made hard, sudden jerks without warning. The contact took the vehicle to branhaven jeep chrysler dodge ram (348 w main st, branford, ct 06405, (203) 488-6351), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 64914088. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000.

Sometimes when drivingit stutters and acts like it can't catch up to the speed that i'm going.

Vehicle is shifting erratically, it is a intermittent problem. When first bought vehicle dealer told me that is just the way that transmission is. It is happening more frequently now

After an uneventful drive to a store, when i restarted the vehicle and attempted to pull out of the parking lot into moving traffic, the vehicle accelerated very sluggishly, like it was stuck in top gear or the engine wasn't able to be rev'ed up.pushing accelerator to floor caused engine to rev up to approximately 3500 rpm only, and rate of acceleration did not improve. Tried shifting into neutral and back into drive.this did not restore the expected acceleration behavior.tried to put transmission into manual shift mode by moving gear shift left or right, but gear indicator in instrument cluster showed that transmission did not switch into manual shift mode; it stayed in full-automatic mode.pulled over and turned engine off, then restarted engine.expected acceleration behavior restored after restarting engine.

As a mother of three children, the youngest only being two years old, i do not feel safe driving my 2016 jeep compass. Every single time i drive the vehicle the motor randomly stalls out while driving several different times. My car is very well maintained and driven easily and even with the gas pedal under light load it stalls out leaving me immobile or the vehicle misfiring and jerking forward violently struggling to drive which puts my children and i in dangerous or potentially deadly situations. This happens all the time. This is due to a bad crankshaft position sensor and or bad wiring from the factory. When i type my vin number into the nhtsa website for recallsit says my vehicle has no active recalls. There are several other jeep compass's of the same year and model with this exact issue under recall and my vehicle needs to be included in that recall as well. My car is only two years old it should be a relatively safe and reliable vehicle not something i worked so hard to buy and an affraid to drive.

I've been driving 55mph, 45 mph 25 mph and it will stall, the traction control light will come on. Sometimes the car will not restart for 10+ minutes after stalling.

Shifter when put in park sometimes rolls

All of my lights came on out of nowhere then car wouldn't turn back on. After diagnostics it was determined to be an electrical issue with the wiring harnesses & also was told that there were issues with my airbags being able to properly deploy. Vehicle was on. Vehicle was in motion at about 30-40mph. I was fortunate enough to make it home and be able to park my car and i was fortunate i wasn't on a highway or it could have been a very dangerous accident.

Car lost power three times in the last two weeks. Twice while driving, one of those times was on the highway, and the third time when stopped at a red light

Randomly the chime will come up along with the seat belt sign when a passenger is in the front seat with the seat belt on.have not had the seat belt come out yet but would not like to have that happen.

Don't know they can't seem to figure out why when someone gets out of passenger seat the seatbelt lightbstsys on and it still chims until i hook the seatbelt. I am getting tired of taking it to them

I was involved in an accident on february 28, 2019 when i veered off into a ditch, my vehicle flew into the air after hitting a driveway, and flipped at about 55 mph. I was driving on a rural farm to market road. I was driving and the only one in the vehicle. My seatbelt never locked as i wrecked. It was buckled but never engaged. I submitted to jeep for review and they denied my claim and said the seatbelt was working properly. My seatbelt was all the way stretched out and even frayed at the top where the loop is. My l1 instantly blew up into my spinal cord and i suffered severe injuries.

The seat belt latch will not engage to properly restrain.it comes undone with very little force or pulling.

The passenger seat belt mechanism does not lock. It appears to be locked in but when you pull on it, it does not stay in the locked position. In the event of an accident the passenger will not be protected. My sons friend was in the passenger seat of the vehicle and it came unbuckled when they came to a stop at a light. I do not see any recalls at this time and have found complaints to chrysler about the problem with no resolution.*dt

Four separate occassions of seatbelt lights and chime coming on while all occupants were properly belted in.dealer has replaced all components of the seatbelt system, and it continues to happen.nothing done yet has repaired the problem.the dealer currently has the vehicle in their shop until they think it's repaired again.it went to the shop in october and december of 2016, again on the 13th of september of 2017 and the 21st of september.4 times.

The passenger seat belt does not seem to full engage when i click my seat belt. I had noticed when we came to a sudden stop while driving to a nearby store and the self belt came undone right after i had clicked it in. Thankfully the convenience store is only a mile or so away on a main highway route. I strongly believe this is a safety issue and since then have made sure to double check by pulling on it to see if it's fully engaged. There are time where it'll keep coming undone and i have to keep clicking it on until it fully engaged.

The front passenger seat belt malfunctions when a person is sitting in the seat. I have taken the vehicle several times to the dealer & it is still not corrected. I have an open investigation with chrysler corporate too. Corporate has acknowledged there is a serious problem with all 2016 jeep compass seat belts on the front passenger side but still expect people to drive their vehicles knowing there is a problem & they say the vehicle is unsafe to drive. If a person is sitting in the seat the alarm will go off indicting the seat belt needs to be fastened when in fact it is. It will also think a person has a seat belt on while the vehicle is in motion when they really don't. I have video of this & eyewitnesses. I have question the airbag linkage to the seatbelt malfunctioning if it can cause the airbag to fail or malfunction & corporate is unsure if this is possible.i have actually tried to trade the vehicle & cannot because all other dealers are aware of this issue and refuse to take it. I have been fighting this since i have owned the vehicle which i bought march 2016. After i bought it i took it back to the dealer within an hour & a half and informed them of the seat belt issue and they blew it off and have continued to blow it off until corporate got involved but both sides can't fix or figure out the problem & will not take the vehicle back on trade as they have admitted it is an unsafe vehicle due to the seatbelt on the front passenger side.' i am also having issues with the fuel economy as it is significantly less than what was advertised and what is posted on corporate's website. I have receipts and video to show as proof. The dealer blows this off too & refuses to look into it. Corporate has no comment on the fuel economy.it's advertised to get 30 on the highway & i barely get 24-25. All issues with the seatbelt has been while driving above 15mph.

Don't know they can't seem to figure out why when someone gets out of passenger seat the seatbelt lightbstsys on and it still chims until i hook the seatbelt. I am getting tired of taking it to them

On september 24, 2019 while driving down a residential street approximately 15 mph, the passenger side headrest deployed without provocation. Fortunately, no passenger was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of deployment. It made a really loud noise when it deployed startling driver, causing driver to swerve and almost caused an accident. It appears a piece of plastic broke off inside the headrest causing the headrest to deploy.

While backing out of driveway the driver side active head restraint spontaneously deployed hitting my teenager driver in the back of the head.

Headrest on passenger side popped without any collision or impact. It just popped. It was very scary. Iā€™m thankful it didnā€™t cause any injury to anyone. The noise was very loud and happened without warning.

I was pulling out of the parking lot at work when my headrest just exploded and hit me in the back of the head. I hadn't hit anything or stop suddenly i was just pulling out of a parking lot. I heard a pop and then got hit in the back of the head from the headrests.

Constant squealing and grinding noise and has been occurring since i've purchased the vehicle. My vehicle now has 14028 miles on it and the brakes still makes this noise when coming to a stop.

Car begins to shake for no apparent reason while on stop (stepping on brakes). The more time passed, the more frequent the shaking began. Started happening in 12/2019.

I purchased the 2016 jeep compass used from robertson honda in palmdale ca.the next day i noticed the breaks made a squeak sound when i applied the breaks at a complete stop. I took it back to dealership, they checked it again, and told me i had nothing to worry about; the breaks were sound and not worn out.then today i found out from credit karma that there was a recall on my car.i'm concerned and would like the problem addressed.i was not told by the dealership that my car had a manufactures recall.

Severe tire wear on jeep compasson 05/12/16 i took a rental car (jeep compass, mileage: 10417) in las vegas. On 05/26/16, just as we had passed the mountain routes from durango to ouray, i discovered by chance that both front tires were completely worn out on the inside (see photos). I did not discover it earlier, because the tire tread was o.k. On the outside and the body hided the rest of the tire.then i drove very slowly. Soon after came the warning light for the tire pressure: the left front tire lost pressure (mileage approximately: 12250). I changed the wheel and was hoping that the right tire held air to the nearest town. We reached the town without further problem. As i brought the car to the tire shop, they told me, that the toe was completely wrong and that wheel alignment would be necessary (see alignment report).summary: the cause of this symmetric tire wear is mysterious: the car had relatively few miles and there was no event (such as an impact to the wheels), that possibly could have changed the toe. Nevertheless i think, the car was not roadworthy and i'm glad i noticed the problem before it came to an accident.i send this report from germany. As it is not possible to fill in this country and my telephone number, i give you the state and phone number of the rental car company.

While at milosch palace chrysler jeep dealership in lake orion i noticed the power steering return hose was contacting the front suspension sway bar at stationary curb condition. This is a design violation which i told fca about when i worked there in 2014.the issue has existed now from july of 2014 until now. The hose can wear a hole in it due to a 2 inch rubbing interference with suspension movement and the vehicle will lose steering assist andpower steering fluid can spray in the exhaust system causing a fire.

My car suddenly stalled and caused my wheel to lock up. My car would not accelerate until i shut the car off and then turned it back on

2016 jeep compass with 51k miles. I took it in for a tire rotation and my drivers side tie rod was warn so much that they would not allow me to drive it out of the shop. My 90k mile tires needed replaced at 30k miles.

The car has been to multiple jeep dealerships and it keep stalling and shutting down but no problems found. It has shut down in traffic! this has happened on multiple days. We have checked recalls and none apply to the jeep. I have two small a kids and this is absolutely ridiculous.

I was on a vacation trip and my son was driving. The steering wheel locked up and he crashed into a pole. My wife and i thought the steering was rough but thought it would ease up. After the car was hit the axel on the right passenger side was destroyed. He wasn't moving fast enough for the axel to get damaged which leads me to believe the axel was poorly constructed in the first place. No my car is stuck in a friend's driveway with no way of getting it home. This has been a nightmare.

On 12 jan 2017 a lady backed into my car at approx 35 mph and destroyed the passenger doors - the entire right side of the vehicle - the airbags did not deploy resulting in injuries to my son and myself. I was parking in a parking lot at the time and she was backing out at a high rate of speed without looking.

Jeep repeatedly leaks from dome light after it rains. My map light isfilled with water when it rains.i had puddles of water in front and rear passenger foot area. The car smells really bad.my jeep compass stopped in the middle of the road just a month after i bought it.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving various speeds, a loud noise was present around the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear passenger side suspension bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer and local dealer (leith chrysler jeep, located at 11049 us hwy 15 501, aberdeen, nc) were both notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

All 4 doors crack every time you open or close them. I complained about this issue at the dealership when we got it and they tested most of the same models they had and they all had the same issue.

Car jerks when accelerating after making a turns

Car throwing catalytic converter code. Was in shop 3 times this year with engine issues. Stalling out on me in the middle of nowhere. Misfiring on multiple cylinders. Driving up hills overheats losses power only goes 40 mpr up hills. Cuts out randomly.

I was driving my car and i turn on the "air conditioner" i hear this awful noise coming out of my glove box area, it was so startling that it took my eyes off the road and i hit a tree.i have the sound coming on every time i drive my crashed car.

My car shuts off while driving very dangerous to cause an accident almost was in 5 please put a recall on it

Stops running while driving down the road. Has stopped at least 20 times. There is no lights that come on when this happens. It is hard to steer car to the side of the road when this happens.

Every.single.time i try to open my hood, the release located under the hood (not inside the vehicle) will not move. I have had to use a board to pry the lever over and have taken it to the dealership and they had to use a giant screwdriver. It is practically impossible to open the hood by myself. Just now i tried pushing the lever with a board as i have done before, but the latch will not budge even then--if anything it only moves further onto the "ring" instead of off from it. In case of an emergency, ie. A beginning fire or possible fire in the engine,i would not even be able to get a fire extinguisher in there, i would just have to stand back and watch my car go up in flames.i have nearly broken my hand trying to get the thing open and i cannot even change the oil now.

Can shaft sensor

When accelerating from a stopped position, i.e. At a stop sign, my car begins to drive, then i hear the engine "rev",as if it is in the neutral position.it is in drive.then i shut off the car, restart and then it is ok..it is very dangerous. It does not happen often, but when it does, it is very dangerous.i would say it happens 1x per week, sometimes 2x per week.i have a video of the "revving" but you can't see anything of course!

Takata recall, i was driving down 435 highway with my kids and my engine stalled. I had to pull on the shoulder turn the car off and restart the car. This happened on thursday the 12th of april 2016.

Takata recall. Sunroof leaking when it rains. This is an issue that makes it unsafe while your driving.

The engine keeps stalling. Its similar to the same description for the recall that just so happen my car isn't linked to dealing with the crankshaft or camshaft.

On 12 jan 2017 a lady backed into my car at approx 35 mph and destroyed the passenger doors - the entire right side of the vehicle - the airbags did not deploy resulting in injuries to my son and myself. While driving no sensors came on and all of a sudden while driving down the road the car rpm gage dropped to zero and the car wouldn't run anymore. Stuck in the middle of the road i could not get the car to crank in order to move it. Lights, radio, heat all still functioned?

Vehicle loses power while driving. Has issues with steering, acceleration, brakes.

I am getting a knocking sound coming from the passenger side in the glove box area when i turn on my "heater" and "ac" from the control button in the dashboard area. I am sitting in the car after starting up the car and then there is a loud continual noise coming from the glove box on the passenger side of car. I need to know is this a "recall" issue in this year and make of jeep? please help me find out what this meansin my car.is it dangerous to me as the owner? thank you for your kindness in this matter.

The car is automatic but stalled as if it were manual. When i come to a sudden stop it would stall out & shut off the engine. Mostly happens at street lights & stop signs. If i accelerate from a stopped position for ex: to merge into traffic or to go at a green light. It jumps as if not being able to catch a gear shift. When brought to the machanic, they didnt notice anything wrong under the hood. This has been happening on a regular basis since i bought the car in 2017. I'm worried it would cause a crash.

My car is intermittently stalling on idle....

When it is raining or when the snow on my jeep begins to melt, the sunroof leaks. The sunroof controlls and overhead lights (which is located next to the sunroof) fills up with water and leak all over; on the driver, front passenger, dashboard, etc. Creating a distraction while attempting to drive

For a while now when my car accelerates between 3 and 3.5 rpms the throttle control sensor goes off, and when that happens traction control turns off check engine light goes on and i cant go over 20mph.

Stalled and end board ..

Limp-home mode occurred three occasions while driving at approximately30-40mph on city street.diagnosed as faulty throttle body

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own. All of the indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The brake pedal did not stop the vehicle. The contact had to place the vehicle in park in order to stop. The contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and notified the police. The police officer attempted to turn the ignition, but the vehicle would not start. The vehicle finally started after the fourth attempt and only the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the northtown chrysler dodge jeep ram dealer (2020 niagara falls blvd, tonawanda, ny 14150) but the failure could not be diagnosed. The contact had not driven the vehicle in over 20 days and was concerned for her safety. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While driving approximately 30 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to harr chrysler jeep dodge (located at 110 gold star blvd, worcester, ma 01606, (888) 596-0203) where it was diagnosed that the electric throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 49,626.

Engine stalls all a sudden while driving, then the dashboard sensor lights come on like the engine light the etc light and the esp light. You do not currently have a recall on my vin#, but i believe this to be a recall issue.please investigate this being i need to have this fixed.pretty please and thank you for you time!

All warning lights flashing on and off randomly and dinging while in motion. Also vehicles doesn't want to accelerate and rpms jumping up and down.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle fluctuated between 0 - 1,000 rpm. The vehicle was towed to bay chrysler dodge jeep ram (636 15th st, panama city, fl 32401; (850) 785-1591) and it was stated that the cam shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that vin was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage 68,000.

Sometimes when drivingit stutters and acts like it can't catch up to the speed that i'm going.

I was driving and my vehicle went into limp mode while driving on highway, the check engine light, traction control light and electronic throttle control light came on, pulled over turned my vehicle off, waited a few minutes turned my vehicle back on just check engine light remained. After work that day my check engine light went off... Rpms had been fluctuating randomly for about a week.. Got in my car this morning and check engine light was back on and traction control comes and goes. Numerous vehicles made by fca that have the 2.4 engine across the board have multiple throttle body issues causing this to happen.

The contact owns a 2016 jeep compass. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not exceed 60 mph. The contact stated that the same failure occurred multiple times at various speeds. The dealer (champion chrysler jeep dodge, 9655 firestone blvd, downey, ca 90241) stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v907000 (engine). The manufacturer was also contacted and was unable to assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 53,675. Consumer stated engine stalled at 60 mph. Check engine did not come on.updated 11/26/18

When running the ac the windshield inside becomes foogy and makes ot harder to see when driving. Chrysler says its normal. Could cause a fatal acident.
