While driving home from work one day i heard a loud sound like a gun. The headrest to the passenger seat just deployed on its own. Took it to my mechanic to be corrected and he said it couldn't be reset the clip or a pin must have broke. Then on wednesday july 28th i got a warning light on my dashboard pertaining to airbags. Puts fear in me because i need to know that my airbags are there for me if needed. C&h auto care is aware of the problems with my vehicle. They are located in joppa maryland.

Takata recall - safety recall - s61/nhtsa 16v-668this vehicle has issues.the vehicle could not be repaired due to the part not available for unknown date in 2017 .i was told by a manager at chrysler that i could obtain a rental for the entire time at my cost, submit the cost at my choice; daily, weekly, monthly, and get a refund.this was an expensive situation and could have been very costly if i had continued.i was not able financially to continue renting a vehicle to drive to work and pay for the one i could not drive.after 2 weeks of renting, i was contacted by mail, that an agreement had been reached for chrysler to furnish a loaner vehicle from a dealership, so i followed that agreement.in the meantime, i started the time consuming ordeal of trying to trade the jeep, which added to the stress and nightmare. I ended up buying another vehicle, not a chrysler, and the jeep was repossed by financial company. To date, a refund has not been refunded to me for the rental i paid for.each time i call chrysler, i am put on hold, passed from department to department, then told someone will contact me with an update.the jeep will be sold at an auction, still with safety issues for some other person/family to be put at risk.i am facing tremendous hardship financially now and in the future credit wise due to the jeep being reposed.now, i am seeking legal advice on how to get a refund?is there any legal circumstances that can help me with the cost of the financial hardship for the repossion ?

Power rear window intermittently would not raise after being lowered. Following a trip to my son't violin practice. After raising using the rear window power up, it raised and then worked fine. A few months later, out of the blue one morning the jeep would not start. It was parked overnight in our driveway. Called roadside service and they attempted to jump it off with a jump box and it would still not start. Had a friend stop by and assist with jumper cables and after three attempts it started. Advance auto checked the battery/starter/alternator and all tested fine. Taken to dealer and totally integrated power modeule required changing and was not covered by either warranty or extended warranty i purchased when origionally bought. That was two weeks ago. Two days ago, out of the blue the horn honked. Then tonight, after being parked again overnight, i attempted to start my jeep and upon turning the key in the ignition only the dash lights and radio came on x2. On the third attempt the vehicle started. First occurance was 7/26/2017 second 8/8/2017 following two days in the shop and a changed tipm.

I was driving at a normal speed and out of no where my head rest popped out so hard. It hit the back of my head and i almost got into an accident. It scared the living daylight out of me. I thought someone hit me from behind or that i got into an accident.there was no warning for this at all. I am very scared to drive my vehicle now. My neck does hurt at the moment, but no serious injury.

Safety recall not completed in timely manner.manufacturer recall numbers61nhtsa recall number16v-668

I owned a 2014 jeep compass until december 2016.i received a recall notice from chrysler of issues with airbags and seatbelts making the vehicle unsafe to operate according to me and the automobile insurance company.after conversations with the dealership closes to my home, i was told parts to correct the problem were not available and the date for the parts availability were undetermined.i was left with the choice of driving a rental car and continue to pay for that vehicle for undetermined amount of time.i decided to try and trade the vehicle.i went to 3 dealerships to get estimates on trading, with one being the same dealership where the vehicle was purchased with final results of being told that the car was worth $5000 less than what was owed on it and i could not get financing for another, not a recent model, vehicle and the balance of the jeep compass.so i voluntarily surrendered it back to the financing company leaving a bad finance mark on my credit.the car is to be sold at an auction for what ever price can be obtained leaving me with the balance to pay.my questions are, can chrysler, automobile manufacturer, be held responsible to pay the balance, and is there anything i can do to recoop the damage this has caused my credit rating?

I received a recall notice.

A recall was issued on these two parts, recall s 61, on october 1st 2016. I received no notification on this recall until i went to sell my car to a dealership on 12/19/2016. I called chrysler customer service and was told there will not be a remedy for this situation until april 2017. Jeep, and it's parent company, isn't displaying the type of urgency i should see associated with a recall that could cause physical harm to my wife or i, while operating the vehicle. Now, i'm stuck paying for a car i no longer need and will not drive because of the safety issue.

I am writing to make you aware that jeep is not producing a solution to recall 16v-668 in a timely manner. With such a serious problem as passenger airbag and seatbelt, the issue should be fixed by now. I conversed with jeep/mopar today and they stated there is no fix at this time. The issue was posted to the vin on october 1, 2016. If you could please investigate why this is taking so long and possibly speed the process up, that would be wonderful. We do not let our children nor anyone else ride as passengers in the car because of this problem and it is a big inconvenience. Thank you and i hope you have a wonderful day.

I was received a recall notice 11-05-2016 about the air bag and seat belt tensioner.they keep saying parts not available to fix this.this is an unsafe vehicle i am driving.if they can't fix it they should buy it back.i can't sell it with an open recall.they should go to jail or at least get fined for doing this.it is unlawful and immoral!!

Takata recall - 12.21.17, took my vehicle to nissani bros jeep, dodge, chrysler at 5750 mesmer ave b, culver city, ca 90230 where i ordered the recall parts. They processed my recall and i picked up my car a week later. I received a notice that there was still an open recall on my car, and i thought that that may be a delay. I just received another recall notice, and called them to clarify that they had in fact fixed the recall, only to find out that they had not. I spoke with a technician who said that their records at first indicated that it had been completed, but upon further inspection, the recall had not been completed and i have since driven over 1k miles.

Received safety recall notice on 10/1/16 for my 2014 jeep compass latitude 4x4, it is now 1/5/17 and i haven't received any further information on when the recalled parts will be replaced. To be driving around in a car that has recalls on the seat belts and airbags makes me feel very unsafe as a driver. And in addition to not receive any update on timeline for when my vehicle will be repaired is extremely concerning.

My passenger airbag sensor keeps randomly popping up. I was driving & a light signaling airbag pops up.

While driving the air bag warning light came on. Drove rest of the way home and disengaged car engine, restarted vehicle light stayed on. Contacted mechanic and suggested to take to dealer. Brought to the dealer purchased from (less than 90 days prior) they indicated one if the side airbags is broken, needs anew "skirt ass'y" and it disables all airbags for safety. How is disabling airbags helping my safety?while i can understand the need to draw a line for warranties, my vehicle is 1400 out of the bumper to bumper and the air bags are not a part that gets used. It's going to be over $900 to repair. Why isn't chrysler standing behind their vehicles less than three years old? of which had airbag recalls in the recent past.

2 years!for over 12 years my airbag light has been on..... For 2 years this vehicle has had this recall forthe occupant restraint controller. The potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability ... 2 years i i have inquired about getting this fixed, for 2 years i am being told that the parts are not available... Yet they are churningout new jeeps every single day... Why cant this be replaced with one from the new jeeps?thankfully i haven't had an accident, and needed this airbag, but what if i would? what if i were to have an accident where an airbag could have saved my life? will jeep do something then?why aren't they being held accountable to fix this?mileage and speed entries are just number to fill the blanks, since i did not have an accident... The date filled in is the date the recall was posted.

Regarding a safety recall - occupant restraint controllers61/nhtsa 16v-668.was notified of the re-call last october, 2016 and have called three times regarding the outcome.none as of this date - june 27, 2016.if in fact this a serious problem and it appears so regarding a potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment during a crash which could cause increase in injury, why is this not being taken care of in a reasonable time frame?way too long if it involves customer safety?this is really not acceptable in the customer's situation.

I been having issues with my seatbealt restraint and my newborn driving in her seatbelt. Several times i have complained about her car seat not being held firmly and flips when i turn. The company is yet to remedy the situation. As a mother is is very uncomfortable for me and they have not find a solution. I do not believe my investment in this car was worth my now lack of safety for me and my child. This situation happens while my car is in motion and she begins to scream.

Today april 4/2018 start up my jeep compas drove off and, it was like there was no power .i gave it gas but dident pass 20 milles per hour.so, i pull over and restart the car again now it's fine but engin light is on !

Light system turns on by them selves. Inside lights turn on by themselves wipers turn on by themselves took it to a mechanic they said it's the main control module that's faulty it should be undera recall bc he has seen this problem a few times

While driving on a busy street, the engine lost power and throttle control, traction control, and check engine lights came on, my vehicle then loses ability to accelerate. A couple of weeks pass by with my car being fine and then it happens again except this time my car wont start back at all. Took it to a mechanic where i paid for towing. Vehicle was limp and wanted to stall. Now have to pay for new spark plugs and throttle body replacement. Mechanic said this is a common safety hazard issue with jeeps and this throttle body needs to be on recall already.

While driving months ago my car lost all control of throttle, all controls shut down, and i barely made it to the side of the road. Got the car checked, it appeared to be the throttle body sensor. Had the sensor completely replaced, it has been 4 months since replacement, and this morning while driving around a curve the car lost acceleration, all controls shut off, and my steering wheel locked up, causing me to be stuck in the middle of a sharp curve in the middle of the road. I turned the ignition to off and restarted the vehicle and it started up and drove fine. I also have had an issue when accelerating where it has a hard time changing gears, and it gives a slight jerking in the throttle where it won't change. This morning after my incident the car has started vibrating while in drive and idles at 1000 rpm. When i put the car in neutral the vibration stops, but immediately starts back once i remove it out of neutral.

I was driving about 45 mph on a country road, after a curve in the road, my jeep"s traction control and check engine light came on as well as the electronic throttle control started flashing. My jeep then went into "limp mode" and i couldn't drive faster than 40 mph. I'm so glad that i was on a country road because if this would have happened on a highway it would have been very dangerous. I was finally able to get my jeep home and it has been fine since but now i'm constantly worried that this is going to happen again at anytime.

The engine stalled and cut off while i was slowing down while driving on the freeway. The car went completely dead, i could not turn on warning lights and cars were running fast behind me. After 2 minutes of turning the ignition to try to start the car, the dash lights went back on and the engine started again. The car also cut off when i was slowing down in traffic behind other cars.

I purchased a 2014 jeep compass for my daughter from palmer's airport hyundai in mobile al in february 2014. We have been having several issues with this vehicle. It started out not wanting to crank properly. It was then taken to roundtree dealership in mobile where tech [xxx] stated they could not find anything wrong with it. About 2 weeks later she took it to brooks motors in jackson al. They stated they started the jeep approximately 50 times and found no problem. We then contacted chrysler corps. To see if they could help. She has been speaking with [xxx] about the jeep. About 3weeks ago the air conditioner stopped working properly. We were then supposed to take it back to brooks for repair and would receive a loaner until repairs were made. When she arrived they pretended they knew nothing about her coming and treated her very rudely so she left and contacted [xxx] once again. [xxx] then instructed to her to take it to [xxx]in daphne al. With an appt. And was supposed to receive a loaner if needed. My daughter arrived at 8:00 am and asked for [xxx] who did not know anything about her appt. A tech named [xxx] went ahead with appt. After inspecting the vehicle he told her they had to send info up to chrysler to see what repairs could be done because this issue has been seen in other vehicles and would call her and let her know. [xxx] called her back the next day stating there was nothing they could do no recall has come down yet as to how to fix crank issue and ac. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I heard a poppink noise from below or underneath. Also just two days ago motor light came on. I went to dealer somerset dogde for #2 recalls one in 2017 and other 2015. They said, will call you when parts comes in . They never call me till today!

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle failed to start. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was restarted after the battery was recharged from another vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new battery. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Exited car with car keys in hand leaving car unlocked with windows all up walked about 10 feet away car starts by itself and then locks the doorsi run back to car unlock it put the key in ignition and turn it off and quickly exit car it hasn't done this again been about 2 weeks ago now i m notified of airbag recall with no solutionvery scary understand this type vehicle cranked up and back over ownerplease help was waiting to take it back to dealer in titusville fla yet i now live 3 hours awayscared to drive this new car but have no backup.

My anti-lock brake system fault indicator, stability control indicator and 4 wheel drive (with exclamation point) indicator are on when engine starts. Within 15 seconds of me driving, all indicator lights briefly turn off. That is followed by a ~5 seconds of my car stalling with the stability control indicator blinking. Shortly after, all lights turn back on.this is an ongoing issue that i have tested multiple times over the course of a week.i am worried to take my car outside of my neighborhood and believe it is an issue caused by the vehicle as opposed to self-inflicted.note: i have replaced the battery and the issue remains. The vehicle has just under 75,000 miles.

Dangerous, engine stalling and complete electrical shut down, while driving at any speed, driving straight, turning, or just sitting there.the abs light flashes and then everything shuts down without warning.i sit for a minute, then i can restart and the vehicle runs fine.except for the fact that the engine stalling will happen again. I took it to the dealer, they said there are no codes indicating a problem.the dealer cannot find what this issue is. There was a recall in dec. 2013 for the exact same problem, however, chrysler corp says that my vin does not fit into vehicles that were recalled.it should be if my 2014 jeep compass is having the exact same problem.this is extremely dangerous, stalling in the middle of traffic both on the freeway and in the streets.and with the airbag module not replaced yet by a different recall, it makes it more dangerous if the vehicle stalls in traffic, then a car hits us and no airbag deploys.

My etc light came on as i was lsitting at a stop light .complete loss of power and could not accelerate past 20 mph. I turned the car off, let it sit for a mintue and restarted and everything was fine. But then after a few more minutes of driving it happened again

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine, throttle, and skid warning indicators illuminated. Also, the vehicle would slow down and stop several times during the day. The contact also stated that the rear driver's side window would automatically go down without warning while driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally; however, the failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where multiple unknown parts were replaced, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off and the brakes failed. The contact's vehicle crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. While driving my jeep continues to stall and stutter and gives off multiple error codes. I get my 4 wheel turned on, abs, fuel pump, and an electrical code that is a lighting bolt in a set of parenthesis. This is happening each time i am driving and the car slows to about 10 mph then begins to stop driving.

I've been having issues for a couple of weeks now and i thought it was my transmission slipping. Now i'm having my electronic throttle control system warning light showing and my car jumps and doesn't want to accelerate when i'm at stop lights or stop signs. It also jumps while i drive on the freeway. It has gotten drastically worse over time and i would like this issue looked into.

All steering wheel electronics don't work including the horn

April 15, 2018 vehicle only has 58k miles on it and is still under powertrain warranty. Pulled out onto highway in busy traffic and vehicle shuddered and lost power. I was unable to accelerate over 20mph. Oncoming car narrowly missed hitting me.lightning bolt, check engine light, and abs warning lights all flashed on drivers panel. Brought car to dealer to be inspected and diagnosis codes are that i need a new throttle body converter. Vehicle doesn't even have 60k miles on it and the engine is still under warranty, however, dealer says warranty does not cover throttle body. :/ very dangerous problem that i've discovered a lot of other people are having problems with. :/ looks like jeep made a faulty part that can result in a serious accident if someone loses power at the wrong time.

I see an existing recallthat matches all the issues my car has been having and yet my car is not on the recall.i would like to test that the recall did not include all the cars that it should have.(not the airbag recall)my car has stalled a couple times while driving slowly and i notice a strange shift issue in my car.when i bought my car they told me that the timing belt felt different than the other cars i had driven and that it was more up to date.i believe that my car had an issue from the beginning.

Right now it doesn't run because the brain went out while i was driving back to work from lunch. There's no response to the vehicle and the other day it completely stopped dead while i was driving 65 on my way home from work. To top my matters off with this vehicle it's had the cruise control recalled and replaced and many other parts it's a terrible vehicle. To top my stress with it my seatbelt doesn't lock when it's supposed to so if i wreck looks like i'm going through the windshield. I honestly wish i could afford another vehicle because mine i feel is going to be the death of me. I have a video of what it was doing before it completely shut down can't upload any pictures because it wouldn't do justice.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. When the turn signals were activated, the interior lighting inside the vehicle illuminated and turned off once the turn signals were deactivated. Also, while driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact had to release the accelerator pedal in order the engine to return to normal. There were no warning indicators illuminated. On one occasion, the engine completely failed. The vehicle had to be towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wheel bearing and alternator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 82,000. The vin was unknown.

There is a recall that is supposed to happen by jeep and it's the catylictic converter and also the throttle body just went out.

My car caught fire and is a total loss. It was determined that it was electrical and started from the headlight

Have initiation switch problems.the engine will need catch when the steering wheel isn't perfectly straight while the vehicle is in park.i can shift to other gears from , park but the engine will not start.if the steering wheel is straight, i have no problems.

While driving on the interstate the traction control lights flashes along with the electronic throttle control light, then the engine light comes on and it instantly loses engine power within minutes. This has happened three times now. I have changed battery, air filter, add gas cleaner products. Yet the problem still is happening . Very dangerous while driving at highway speeds down a extremely busy interstate.

On 4/26/2014 i was driving on a 4 lane road at 30 mph when car started acting sluggish and jerky.i pulled to the farthest right hand part of the road andcar then completely died.was able to coast to the shoulder and 3 men assisted me in pushing car out of theof the road.car would not start and had to be towed/ flatbed to dealer.car is 8 months old with approx 11, 000 miles.the dealer stated it was the ignition coil.when they tested it they found no spark, dtc for coil ionization p2302.tested and found no power at coils.tested and found blown fuse, replaced fuse and tested, blows fuse after 30 seconds.tested and found 4 coil melted/grounded.coil would not come out due to meltage.had to break coil and remove debris from tube.they replaced coil. Dealership stated they have not come across this before.received vehicle back on 4/29/2014.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. After the vehicle was started, the abs and electronic stability control activation malfunction warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

While driving the esc malfunction light came on and loss of power. Happened again and engine completely stalled and would not turn over for another five minutes.

I've had to replace all 4 bearings, the 4 wheel drive went completely out during big snow in 2016,the rutter valve had gone bad(which costs over $400., having to replace alternator, and various other things... This jeep had been nothing but a pain since i've had it and i bought it new. They are junk and the whole vehicle should be recalled.

The warning lights on the dash board go on intermittendly for the abs, traction control, and 4wd.when driving the vehicle, the engine will pause a few seconds, warning lights will go on, and vehicle will proceed forward.the most significant instance was when i was turning left into an intersection, the vehicle vibrated for approximately 30 seconds, speed reduced to 2mph, warning ligts for abs, traction control, and 4wd went on, and vehicle proceeded forward.i had vehicle serviced three times for this problem.when the vehicle is connected to the computer to run diagnostics, nothing is indicated.the mechanic changed the wheel bearing 4 times with the hope that would correct the problem.it has not.when driving on a highway, the vehicle seems to shift into this error mode with the pause, abs, traction control, and 4wd lights go on and the vehicle proceeds forward.it does not happen when backing up.i fear this will cause an accident because of the hesitation of the engine when this happens..

Driving on i70 & i81 going 70mph engine loses power.was able to get off the road shut down the vehicle.once restarted seemed fine but does this out of the blue and dealer can't mimic

While driving the etc light came on and car lost speed to 20 mph. Also the engine light came on. I pulled over got out my manual and it said to put in park and turn off car. Cycle? it and try to start again. It worked for the next 5 miles and did it again. Air conditioner stopped putting out cool air. I drove home at 20 mph

Car does not want to go over 20 can push on the gas and will not go faster

The abs brake lights came on as well as the skid warning light when i started the car. About 30 seconds later as i was driving straight at about 25 mph down the street, there was a loud clicking sound and the brakes locked up and the steering wheel locked up too. Or possibly could have been the transmission that locked up. I can't be sure. But it is safe to say the entire care locked up leaving me unable to steer or maneuver the car in any manner. I waited a few minutes and the lights went off and i was able to get the car back home. I waited a couple of hours and started the car again and the abs and skid light came back on. The car is a 2014 jeep compass.

2014 jeep compass sport lost power while driving on the highwaythis vehicle went from going 65-70 miles per hour to barely being able to get up to speed of 30mph that is with pressing accelerator all the way to the floor. Once exiting off of the highway the vehicle continued to lose power when pressing accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. The vehicle will start, but barley has any power to drive. This is very life threatening and dangerous! this problem has been noted and should have been recalled way before now. I have seen reviews about this happening to other jeep compass owners. Please fix asap! before lives are taken..

My jeep is currently back at the dealership for the second time because the esc turns off/on own its own.the first time this happened, the abs and check engine lights came on and stayed on.the dealership said it was a faulty sensor and replaced it.now a few months later it is doing the same thing again, and now the windshield wipers come on when i use the left/right turn signals, turn the headlights on, and sometimes just driving down the road.i do not feel safe driving this vehicle.the dealership service manager stated to my husband that its not safe for the vehicle do this.however, the dealership says that the vehicle does not display an error code, and they cannot recreate these issues.vehicle also makes a grinding noise when turning and the steering feels very vague and bouncy.these issues happen randomly during both city and highway driving. My jeep is a 2014 compass, fwd, 5-speed manual transmission.it has been at the dealership for over a week this time.the esc issue is a safety issue, as well as, the wipers.it seems to be an electrical issue and makes me wonder if the airbags, abs, cruise control, etc. Are at risk of failure to operate properly.

Takata recallcomplaint - engine, fuel propulsion system, vehicle speed control2014 jeep compass sputters and jerks, difficulty accelerating daily on all types of roads and highways since 2016 until current and now since 5/6/209 and 5/10/2019 the engine light randomly came on along with the electronic throttle light. Unable to accelerate above 45 or 50 mph..only gain speed when going downhill. I was scared and had the car towed home i was on the freeway my life was in danger

I was driving my car and it was not getting any speed with the pedal floored. The car started making loud noises from engine and the etc light came on, check engine light came on which is the mil light, also the esc light,i was driving and almost got hit because of it driving fine speed limit and then down to less than 5 mph on a very busy street and intersection. There is a major issue as i had it in the shop a month ago for another malfunction. I was driving 55 mph and suddenly it just lost all compression to less than 5 mph. I was able to finally pull over to an area that had no shoulder so i was half in the road and turned the car off. Read the manual and said to cycle the engine several times to see if better. Ir wasn't better, and now trying to go into reverse, pedal to the ground it creeps 1 to 2 mph.

My truck stalled out while i was driving on i-75. I tried to restart it, and it came on but the electronic stability control signal and the electronic throttle control signal was flashing. The truck wouldn't go over 20 mph, and the signals never went off.

My etc light came on as i was lsitting at a stop light .complete loss of power and could not accelerate past 20 mph. I turned the car off, let it sit for a mintue and restarted and everything was fine. But then after a few more minutes of driving it happened again

While driving on the interstate at 70 miles per hour my jeep compass loss power. The engine light, etc light esc light all came on as i was driving. This in turn immediately dropped my speed down to 20 miles per hour.

2014 jeep compass lost sudden speed on interstate. Couldn't accelerate over 20mph. 4x4, 'lightening bolt' , traction control and engine lights all on. Extremely dangerous when traveling in high speed traffic. Was almost hit by a transfer truck.

I've bought on august 2014 from an italian dealer model jeep compass crd 2.2 model 4x4. Driving saturday 21 june on the highway in milan-italy, the engine suddenly shut down, leaving me hold in the middle of the highway rows, with extreme danger for my me my family and the vehicles arriving. I was simply told by the dealer that the issue was a chip. Even they didn't want to make a test drive on the road. Only when i barely asked forcing them to do it, they agreed. As i heard about us recalls from chrysler jeep compass 2014 models due to the same issue, what can i do here in italy? just hoping that my and lives of my family is now safe and no more depending on a chip which shut down the engine during driving suddenly? please let me know!

As i was about to put the suv into park the vehicle suddenly accelerated with my foot on the brake and then jumped two curbstones and went across the front entrance to the store and then hit a parked toyota suv and pushed the vehicle back four feet and then finally came to a stop.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally; however, the failure recurred on multiple occasions. Driving when i lost power, even pushing on the gas... The car slowed to under 20mph.a few lights came up on dash (check engine, traction control, lightning bolt) engine stuttered and cars were swerving to go around me because i had no power no matter how much i pushed on the gas. This is the second time this happened to me, i was on the highway.

While traveling on interstate 80 in the passing lane my 2014 jeep compass lattitude 2.4l shut off for no reason. I managed to get to the side of the road and got stopped. I turned off the key and restarted the engine. This happened three more times before i got off the interstate. This has happened about 8 times so far. The dealer says they have to duplicate the issue, but sometimes it goes weeks without happening.

The vehicle stalls without warning in all temperatures. Most often when accelerating after braking. Vehicle also looses power and runs rough without warning. At no time have any fault codes tripped.

The engine keeps stalling has stalled while im driving. Have taken it to the mechanic and the problem continues. Im afraid that im going to have a wreck.

My etc light came on as i was lsitting at a stop light .complete loss of power and could not accelerate past 20 mph. I turned the car off, let it sit for a mintue and restarted and everything was fine. But then after a few more minutes of driving it happened again

Engine overheating, sliding turns, brakes make noise.

Vehicle has issues accelerating sputters and jerks between 25 and 45 miles per hour. Had a mechanic check this issue and says it has something to do with a defective or damaged transmission. Vehicle has less than 100,000 miles and was just recently purchased from a dealer and had a good rating.vehicle had this problem since purchase and has begun to get worse.this issue only happens when shifting from 2 nd to 3 rd.

My oil pressure and check engine light kept turning off and on. I contacted the jeep dealership in regards to the issue, and they advised me it was not dangerous. The problem continued so i attempted to transport my vehicle to my mechanic, and as i was transporting the vehicle i heard a loud "pop!" from under the hood. The car began to decelerate causing me to have to pull safely to the side of the road from three lanes over. The dash board proceeded to light up and a strange smell began to come through the vehicle. My associate and i got out of the vehicle to check under the hood and found that the vehicle was on fire. We quickly grabbed our belongs and moved a safe distance away from the vehicle. The vehicle was engulfed in flames within 15 minutes and remained on fire until the fire department arrived to extinguish it. The car was a total loss and jeep has denied association with the incident.

The vehicle is 2years old with 18000 miles, 3 safety recalls, kelly jeep has had the vehicle for 8 weeks, we picked it up twice only to bring it back the next day, can not fix the problem, very dangerous shuts off while you are driving, safety issue, we would like to get a new vehicle

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle intermittently stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. My car was driving fine. I was going down a 45mph road and then the transmission meter needle rises and then drops to 0. My car engine shuts off completely. I try to turn it on but it makes a sound with no start. Eventually after about 5min it starts up again & i hit the gas peddle to only get shut down again and the check engine light finally comes on. This isnt the first time & i recently got it check by the dealership. They said it was fine but i know its not my gut is saying the problem is associated with the recall jeep had down on this car back in 2014. There are articles all about it and i tried explaining to them but i guess cause its a lot of work and money no one wants to open the engine.

Driving on i70 & i81 going 70mph engine loses power.was able to get off the road shut down the vehicle.once restarted seemed fine but does this out of the blue and dealer can't mimic

I was driving approximately 10 miles an hour in a parking lot and my engine stalled and began to smoke.i reached out to the dealership where i purchased my vehicle first and no one would return my car.there is an additional recall that impacts my vehicle which has to do with the hijacking of the vehicle navigational system/blue tooth.i cannot get resolution from the dealership. Repeatedly receiving error code u0401

I bought my car 2/5/14, brand spanking new (only 35 miles on it). I was stopped at a stop light at night far away from my home waiting for it to turn green. At this point the car has about 365 miles on it. The car jerked a few times but sounded like it was about to take off, like it was shifting by its own. Car did not rpm. It stopped jerking however happened again a few seconds later. When the light turned green, the car would not go anywhere. I had to press on the gas for a long time before the car decided to move or even shift into a gear. Car would move but only in 1st gear, it rpm'd all the way to 4. The temperature gauge showed that the car got hotter than usual. Once i found a safe place to park, i idled into a angle parking spot and by then the car wouldn't move anymore - solid engine light came on. Once i got a hold of the dealer they gave me instructions for towing. As soon as the car was put on the flatbed tow truck, all you could see was transmission fluid all over the ground. It looked like blood, everywhere. That happened on 2/12/14. It is 2/25/14 - car is still at the dealer waiting to be fixed, apparently parts arenational backorder and i am angry. I had my car for 8 days; dealer has had it going on 13 days now. At least, though, i am thankful it did not happen on the expressway or what not. I could have died. The transmission is not safe; could potentially cause an accident.

While driving down the interstate all of a sudden lost complete power. Lightening bolt symbol turned on and would not accelerate. Eventually regained power, but car continued to studder going down the road. And then it happened again. Very dangerous. Diagnoses: throttle body faulty. 92,000 miles. Not covered under powertrain warranty. With all the complaints i've read this seems to be a known issue and now $700 plus down drain.

While driving on both city streets and highway the engine shuts off without any warning. This causes a loss of power steering and abs braking making it very difficult to safely get the car off the road and avoid accidents. Once i'm able to stop and put the car in park it will restart and drive normal again. Before, during, and after the engine shut down there are no lights on the dash or codes in the computer that identify an issue. This happens at least three times a week in all tempetures and conditions.

Vehicle was driven at 60 mph on interstate. Vehicle's engine stalled causing sudden drop in speed to 25 miles mph. Vehicle was then pulled to a complete stop, placed in park, then turned off. Once the vehicle was restarted engine light was illuminated. Vehicle was then driven off of interstate where it stalled an additional 4 times within 10 minutes of operation.

The vehicle shut off while going 70 miles an hour, no warning at all. As soon as it was switched off it re-started??? no codes appearing and no check engine light.

2014 jeep compass sputters and jerks, difficulty accelerating, the engine light randomly came on along with the electronic throttle light. Unable to accelerate above 45 or 50 mph..only gain speed when going downhill!

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. ....updated 01/13/16 the consumer stated the problem is still occurring. Updated 1/22/16.

My jeep compass want to stall when i press the gas!it has been doing it now for 2 days and it does not happen all the time but did almost cause me to wreck on a highway yesterday!this has happened on highways and side roads.the car has not stalled out completely but it wants to and when in does it causes the car to jerk and lose speed.my car only has 33,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the catalytic converterwas replaced. Several days later, the check engine indicator illuminated again and the vehicle began to stall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags). The contact stated that the vehicle failed to move and the traction control indicator illuminated. River front chrysler dodge jeep ram (200 hansen blvd, north aurora, il 60542, (630) 907-1700) was contacted and stated that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 69,000.

I have a 2014 keep compass with a 2.0l engine and for some time now it has been stalling out really bad and also has problems with wanting to start but today on december the 9th at about 5:30pm or so i was driving down the interstate at a high speed of about 80mph when i had noticed my car was trying to get kinda hot so i turned my heater on to see if that would drop the temperature gauge down any which mind you it did not but instead i lost all engine power and also acceleration as well and when i would give gas it would not do anything but rise my rpms to extremely high level so the only thing i knew to do was get it off of the road as quickly as possible. What's concerning me though is that their is a recall on my car but with a 2.4l engine not the 2.0l but when i was reading the recall for said engine type the exact same symptoms applied to what my car did today so i'm wondering if that recall should be applied to the 2.0l engines as well.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after the initial attempt. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.

While driving, the engine loses power and throttle control, traction control, and check engine lights came on. Vehicle goes into "limp" mode and won't accelerate above 10-15 mph. This seems to be a recurring problem with this vehicle, but there isn't a recall. This is a major safety hazard.

Keeps jerking and losing power while accelerating on highways/busy roads/hills.

As i was driving yesterday my vehicle just randomly stalled out on me and after searching i find that this was an issue that lead to a recall.my vehicle at times will shutter/hesitate or whatever you want to call it which is also described in the recall.i don't believe this issue was properly resolved when the previous owner supposedly had it fixed

The throttle body control would not allow my jeep to merge on the highway. I was merging on to the highway and as soon as the it got up to 2500 rpm it would not shift. I had to let off of the gas and pull to the side of the road because it started reving all of the way up to 7000 rpm in order to shift. The lighting bolt symbol came on during all of this and stayed on. I tried then to exit the highway and it did it once again, but this time it stalled completely. The jeep would go as long as i didn't go past 2500 rpm. As soon as i got safely off the highway i took it to a mechanic on the same street. I had to replace the throttle body unit and it ended up costing around 530 usd. Now i am having the exact same symptoms before the last time the unit broke.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving the vehicle 50-55 mph for approximately one hour, the vehicle independently decelerated to 15 mph. The transmission failure indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was caused by a safety feature to prevent the engine from overheating due to excessive driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,440.

When in motion, when braking to allow a vehicle in front to turn when attempting to accelerate vehicle hesitates and lurches front to back numerous times before resuming acceleration.this occurs at highway and city speeds. Vehicle has been taken to a mechanic multiple times with no sensors or issues found.

Since i bought this car from the dealer, all the from tires making noises when i press the break to stop, i spoke with the dealer but he don't want to help me out. Also the engine light showing up since i got the car from the dealer, the electrical system too is not working perfectly and the ac system is not too good.

While getting off of pm shift, around 2330, i was driving and all of a sudden my car began to slow down only 3 miles into driving. I could not accelerate more than 15 miles an hour in a 40mph zone. The lightning bolt for electronic throttle control was flashing, then stopped, then my check engine and my anti skid(?) was lit up. I pulled over to a side street, put in park only to have my engine idle at 2k rpm. Thank goodness i had my phone and a friend with some car knowledge. Told me to leave in park and restart my car. Turned on and once i shifted out of park it happened again. He stayed on the phone with me for the rest of my drive home that took me 45min because of not being able to accelerate any faster than 15. A drive that usually would take me 15 minutes took much longer. Glad my kids weren't in the car because i almost got hit 2x by 18 wheelers coming off of the highway. Not to mention it was only 27 degrees out (without the chicago wind chill)and would have had to wait probably 30+ minutes for a tow or ride to pick me up had it not restarted. Beyond livid that there are numerous complaints about the same thing and nothing being done. Going to have to pay out of pocket for this fix, right before christmas, awesome!

The vehicle will jerk and lose power when accelerating

My jeep constantly stalls when driving it. I can be at a stop light and begin to accelerate once it turns green as soon as i start moving it stalls.if i'm on the highway and try to speed up to pass someone it stalls. I have had so many issues with this jeep after purchasing it with 9,000+ miles on it in 2015. I was driving it on the nj turnpike when it completely stopped accelerating. My youngest daughter was in the car and it frightened both of us as on coming cars were dodging us. I took it back to the dealer and was toldit was a fuse. The fuse blew again while driving on the same highway. I've had to replace the tierods, the brakes the rotors all four tires fuses alternator and now a brake switch. The jeep stalls while driving and i have to look at the dashboard to make sure it's still accelerating so that i don't have a scare like i did the times when the fuses blew. I've written several letters to the corporate office in regards to having so many issues and basically i was told that i drive the jeep too much. First of all i thought people bought vehicles to drive them. In any event i was told to read the consumer report on this vehicle and realized the stalling may not be from the fuses and whatever makes them blow out. When asked about the fuses in the beginning one of the maintenance personnel said to me a car is a machine and sometimes machines don't operate the way they should. I pretty much gave up on that place and jeep as a whole. I purchased a lemon and chrysler jeep dodge couldn't care any less.

Vehicle was in motion on interstate when it lost power, took it to mechanic and was told it needed another motor cause 2 cylinders were getting compression which means no power... It will only get up to 2500 rpms and loses power, no start power and no power up hills at all

On march 4, while vehicle was in warm-up phase at home, in idle, a sharp snap was heard (later discovered was the electronic throttle body), then vehicle set two codes (p0171, p2173), and immediately went into limp mode (traction control off, throttle body reduced power, abs for slowing vehicle if being driven above slower speeds for limp mode). We were on a schedule, so vehicle was shut off immediately and we used our other vehicle for transport. Both codes were researched to determine best repair methods. Since the p0171 was a repeat code, and the p2173 was an unfamiliar sae code not normally used on my previous vehicles, a complete disassembly of the intake was warranted. I am mechanically competent due to training and experience and know my own limits of competency and tools for repair. Here are the basics for reference of what was found. 1. The pcv valve (multiaire) had failed at the internal pintle, and was allowing crankcase air/oil to enter the intake at too high a volume. It was replaced. The map sensor set the p2173 code, then failed due to oil intrusion and was replaced. The rapid snapping of the throttle body under pressure uncalibrated the internal throttle position sensors, and could not maintain proper position was replaced. The intake manifold (newer design for the 2.0l i4 without the flapper controls just guide veins for the intake air) main gasket had shrunk in the plastic intake seat channel and was allowing outside air (p0171) to seep past the gasket on the lowerlip of the gasket, and was also not sealing between the cylinders (gases were transferring between the cylinders). The throttle body gasket was pristine. During repair, pressure tested intake for leaks, and tubes and lines for cracks. Reading sae code p2173 was determined that code and subsequent limp mode was designed to prevent damage to the plastic intake manifold. It worked.*dt consumer stated the reason for gasket not sealing, blow by-gases from one cylinder to another. Cylinder head was check and plastic intake for warping, the

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact shifted into neutral and back to drive and drove to her destination. The contact stated she had experience the failure on three different occasions. The vehicle was taken to huntington beach chrysler dodge jeep ram located at16701 beach blvd, huntington beach, ca 92647, (714) 841-3999, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body, spark plugs and accelerator pedal assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,629.

I was driving down the road doing 40 with 2 of my children when i lost all power control of my vehicle in 90 degree weather. I ended up on someones lawn and pulled up on my emergency brake to stop my car, only way. I ended up being towed home. Car started next day. Took to dealership they said it was throttle control sensor which they stated wasn't covered under warranty. Just this week i took to get its first inspection since purchasing and it failed for emissions. I was told by inspector this make and model had been failing for fuel system failure and to contact dealership. I contacted dealership who stated this is the first they're hearing of this issue and iwasn't able to schedule an appointment until next week and said that there may be a charge for me to fix???? i have also had to replace both rear hub bearings.i called the jeep manufacturer who was absolutely useless as well and said certain things are covered under warranty and this may be one that isn't. This is absolutely ludicrous that i have a 4 year old car that failed its first inspection. I have a claim with them.

Jeep engine will constantly stall while in motion.it has been happening on a consistent basis for over a year.

The vehicle was traveling on a highway, when suddenly a loud "pop" noise (unknown origin)was heard. After pulling safely to the side of highway, a large pool of fluid was noticed underneath the vehicle, smoke began coming from under the hood and within minutes the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames and a total loss.the car had previously been serviced with oil change and fuel injection cleaning two weeks prior (3/4/2017).no prior mechanical issues . Approx 39,000 miles on odometer

I have owned this jeep compass since july 2014in the time i have owned it , it has lost power and stopped functioningas i was driving betweeen 55 and 65 miles/ hour 4 times on a very busy 5 lane highway. 1 of those times i had to have it towed . The other times after leaving it sit for approximately 30 minutes, it would restart.the time it was towed, the only thing they could find is the battery was low so they replaced it. Another time at 33,000 miles, they found the transmission was failing so they replaced the transmission. Last month , it died again in the same busy highway and we were almost hit by an 18 wheel truck while trying to get it off the road. I let it sit for 30 minutes and it started again just like the other times. I took it to wallace jeep in stuart florida where the service manager did a diagnostic on it and said he could find nothing wrong. I have not driven it on the highway now for weeks because i fear the transmission is going out again and am afraid of being hit in traffic. It now has 66000 miles on it so this transmission has about the same mileage on it as the original did. I a opened a case with jeep and can never get them to call me back i am thoroughly disgusted with this vehicle and would never buy another jeep as long as i live. Not sure what to do next! so not fair that i am stuck with this death trap! i previously owned 3 different grand cherokees with no issue , but this compass is a worthlesss, dangerous, pole of junk! i loathe this vehicle!

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle started shaking as the etc warning indicator illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle did restart. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. I have repeatedly got my car sent to a repair shop for screeching transmission & brakes. Every time no one can find an issue and the next day the noises will come back again. Recently once again my check engine light turned on. I have constantly stated there is obviously something wrong with the engine or transmission since the first month of buying this car, but no one can find anything so everything is good with the car apparently. Its not safe do something & i've filled a complaint before and gotten no response. Recent incident: the car is currently was stationary when i tried turning on my car and the check engine light came on. The past incidents: i was in motion on a 40mph road and the car completely shuts off. The repair shop took a crank piece out but that's not main problem since 2 weeks later my car doesn't want to turn on.*dt*dtconsumer stated she found the problem with the sensor.

Have initiation switch problems.the engine will need catch when the steering wheel isn't perfectly straight while the vehicle is in park.i can shift to other gears from , park but the engine will not start.if the steering wheel is straight, i have no problems.

Light system turns on by them selves. Inside lights turn on by themselves wipers turn on by themselves took it to a mechanic they said it's the main control module that's faulty it should be undera recall bc he has seen this problem a few times

I was driving, and my car started to get hot. The hot engine light started to beep. I was on the highway so i tried to get to a safe area to pull over. Before i could even do that i heard and felt the car shake and all of the sudden the temperature drops to cold and the check engine light and the throttle control light turned on. Drove it home and in the morning the check engine light is on.

My car caught fire and is a total loss. It was determined that it was electrical and started from the headlight

One headlight suddenly went off, took it to a mechanic to change bulb and replaced the bulb and still didn't work, took it to dealer and they still could not fix it and told me it is a computer issue or tipim issues , to me this is a safety hazard , i also was told by the dealer that i an out of warrantee because i have 74000 miles on my 2014, to me this is a safety issue and they should address this regardless of mileage, i have been driving now 4 months with a blown out headlight it is horrible !

While driving, the engine loses power and throttle control, traction control, and check engine lights came on. Vehicle goes into "limp" mode and won't accelerate above 10-15 mph. This seems to be a recurring problem with this vehicle, but there isn't a recall. This is a major safety hazard.

There is a recall that is supposed to happen by jeep and it's the catylictic converter and also the throttle body just went out.

At 75000 miles, the electronic throttle switch shorted out internally, leaving the car functioning in limp mode,if you tried to go faster than 10 miles an hour it would buck and kick and going up small hills you would loose all power.had to be towed to dealership for repais.was on highway doing 60-65 and all of a sudden dropped to 10

Squeaky brakes and acceleration problems. When i have a need for speed, the car down shifts and then accelerates is the best description i can give.

My 2014 compass has continuous issues with the throttle/throttle body and or catalytic converter.3/2019 had a used cc put on with local mechanic (out of pocket $)- 5/2019 new throttle body covered by extended warranty/ 9/2019 intake manifold gaskets replaced (out of pocket $) 12/2019 cc replaced per recall plus ignition coils replaced (out of pocket $). It appears as thought this vehicle has continuous issues related to the fuel injection system.. Throttle.. Etc.the vehicle continues to experience loss of power.. Sluggish throttle and random times, smell of fuel or exhaust and jerking motions when pressing the gas.these issues are the same issues i have experienced with the vehicle over the years while addressing the above referenced issues.while there is no check engine light on.. The issues happen more and more frequently.i have presented my vehicle at a general mechanic and a transmission shop (both out of pocket expenses) and without a failure code.. Or an apparent issue at the time of arrival.. Recreating the issue is difficult.i am really struggling with this issue.. As i am a single mother trying to rebuild my life after experiencing job loss due to covid19.i am employed and rely heavily upon my transportation.. Can i have some insight as to what qualifies a vehicle for certain recalls?i see that my vin is not included with any current recalls.. But the engine and or fuel system is doing the same thing as prior to repairing the cc and other components that were out of pocket expenses.the vehicle itself will experience the "dragging" engine while after stopping and then starting again.. In rush hour traffic and crossing intersections.i am very afraid the engine will stall out causing an accident as it has nearly happened multiple times.please let me know what can be done about this.. As i am in desperate need of some help right now.

It takes 20 minutes to put a few gallons of gas in. The gas pump keeps shutting off. I took it to be repaired, and the entire gas tank needs to be replaced. It cannot be serviced. Mileage approx. 40,000. Dealer says there have been 2 updates/redesigns of the gas tank due to this problem, but chrysler will not provide repair assist because it is out of warranty.

Car does not want to go over 20 can push on the gas and will not go faster

After fueling up the jeep and driving away, the car starts jerking and acts like it wants to stall. This has happened after trying different gas stations so i doubt it is the fuel itself. Both times this has happened it didn't do the jerking/stalling after turning the car off and letting it sit for a few hours.

The check engine light came on 11/15/2019, prior to that when turning the vehicle on there was a bad fuel odor coming from the engine. Suddenly today the engine was very quiet to the point of not knowing it was on. After the check engine light came on i took the vehicle to autozone for a diagnostic scan.the code that came up was catalytic converter. I see there is a recall on chrysler cars and i would like my car to be fixed due to this manufacturer error in producing a efficient vehicle for safety and emissions.

I was driving on the expressway & all of a sudden my vehicle just started stalling. I couldn't drive any faster than 30mph. I could've been in an accident with my kids in the car with me. How is this not included in a recall? i've seen several other vehicles with the same issue. Plus there was a recall done in 2013 for this same issue with the engine stall so why isn't my vehicle included in this recall.

I've tried refueling my keep. And numerous times the fuel has shot back out of the filler neck and spilled on the floor and all over me.thought it was me and asked a mechanic at annadale service center in staten island to help and the same thing has happened to them. So off to the dealership for this service at island jeep chrysler. A diagnosis was an issue with the filler tube.

The heat shield that protects and separates the gas tank from muffler preventing the heat from the muffler to overheat the gas tank has fallen from the brackets that holds this safety / heat shield in place. This heat shield is extremely important preventing any heat to damage the gas tank directly above. The brackets that held up the heat shield appeared to be of very poor quality and would tend to fail from my observation. Without this heat shield it appears a gas tank fire could occur in hot environments or possibly at idle without any air movement to cool the space between the gas tank and muffler.

The vehicle stalls without warning in all temperatures. Most often when accelerating after braking. Vehicle also looses power and runs rough without warning. At no time have any fault codes tripped.

Engine, fuel propulsion system, vehicle speed control 2014 jeep compass sputters and jerks, difficulty accelerating. Randomly came on along with the electronic throttle light. Unable to accelerate above 10 or 15 mph..only gain speed when going downhill. Towed to dealer- throttle body was replaced,i purchased as used vehicle, left me stranded on 1st day.

Vehicle purchased from larry h. Miller car sales, on february 2nd,2014.a new jeep compass 2014.the third day after purchase i took the vehicle in to report problems with the vehicle.1: a loud noise in the rear brakes. 2:rear windows in the vehicle went down by themselves when driving the vehicle. 3:front passenger door could not be unlockedwith the key.i took the vehicle in three times for these repairs. The only thing that was repaired was the front passenger door lock. The windows going down were never even looked at, they said they could not duplicate the problem.the loud noise in the rear brakes was checked by the technicians, three times and their answer for the problem was there was nothing wrong with the brakes and that was just a characteristic of that model (jeep compass).i asked to be put in a different vehicle, because i am and were concerned about the stability of the vehicle. I am very disappointed in the service i received and in the vehicle that was sold to me.the noise in the rear brakes is of great concern to me, as far as the dependability and safety. I do not want to keep this vehicle.i believe it is a lemon.

Repeatedly receiving error code u0401

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While parking, the vehicle was shifted into reverse; however, instead of traveling backwards, the vehicle went forward. As a result, the contact's vehicle struck a parked vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was awaiting diagnostic testing and repairs. The manufacturer was not made of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 46,000. The vin was not provided. Contact states this is the second occurence.

The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 69,000.

I was driving going about 45 when my jeep out of nowhere stopped and wouldn't go fast then 20mph. So then i got a code reader and it said it was the powertrain.which makes then engine not want to go.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Updated 10/11/18

The vehicle will jerk and lose power when accelerating

I was slowly pulling into a parking space in front of local pharmacy. As i was about to put the suv into park the vehicle suddenly accelerated with my foot on the brake and then jumped two curbstones and went across the front entrance to the store and then hit a parked toyota suv and pushed the vehicle back four feet and then finally came to a stop.

When going over 30mph or uphill my transmission starts sputtering. I cannot accelerate. Frequently happens when on highways. There is a sudden shift almost like im switching gears. Rpm shoots up but car will not gain speed. Headlights will get very dim, inside lights will flicker. When starting the engine its like it almost doesnt want to start. Front window motors work when they please

Bought the vehicle brand new with 30ish miles on it, on 12apr14. On 19apr14 (about 420 mileage on it) the vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection. Would not shift/move. My wife had to floor the gas pedal to get it to chug out of the intersection. I got there an hour after she called me. The hood was so hot i could barely hold it when i opened it. Transmission fluid was pouring out. When the tow truck picked it up it poured more fluid out. It was in the shop until 16may14. The dealer said it was a front transmission pump, and was on national back order. I spoke to tx lemon law and they said sounds like a case. I never filed because i was giving the dealer until 18may14, as that would have been 30 days in the shop.

Keeps jerking and losing power while accelerating on highways/busy roads/hills.

2014 jeep compass.consumer writes in regards to transmission problems.the consumer stated 3 weeks after purchasing the vehicle, it broke down while driving. He was able to coast down a hill and get off the road.the vehicle had to be flat bedded to the dealer. The tow truck operator informed him, the transmission had failed, as evidenced showed fluid had leaked all over his truck, as it was being put onto the flatbed. The vehicle was at the dealer for 3 weeks.

Had got vehicle from a used car dealership transmission failed 1 month after they replaced transmission at no cost now after 14000 miles transmission making noises again a manual transmission should last more than 14000 miles

I have a 2014 jeep compass sport 2.0. I purchases it in 2016 used. I was driving on the interstate among heavy traffic and my vehicle just stop immediately. This was a major safety hazard. Now, the shop is saying i need a cvt transmission because my transmission is going out. A transmission should last more that 6 years and i should not have to worry about my safety on the interstate. Please help!!! my vehicle was in motion on the interstate. I could have gotten hit or had an accident from it stopping like it did.

2014 jeep compass sport with manual transmission. Transmission was rebuilt in 2017, under warranty by the dealer due to making a lot of noise while driving the vehicle. As of 8/24/19, the same problem has returned. Vehicle now has 122,896 miles on it. Jeep customer service states that even though vehicle transmission was rebuilt in 2017, that this did not extend warranty and i may have to pay for this repair unless jeep decides to give good will service. I have driven only manual transmission vehicles since i was 14 years old, now 71, and have never had a transmission fail, clutches have been replaced on vehicles in the past at around 150,000 miles, but never a transmission. Apparently jeep has a problem with manual transmissions?? don't think three transmission in 122, 896 miles is anywhere normal.

Code u0401. Ecm/pcm. Check engine light, esc light, and ecm lights came on while driving, jeep lost acceleration, and knocked when we came to a stop. Incident hastened on a local road while moving at 45 mph. Turned off vehicle and restarted. Problem persisted and we had the vehicle towed home.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle begin to shudder back and forth. The contact was able to pull over and stop the vehicle and began to smell burning wires inside of the vehicle. The contact stated they started seeing smoke coming thru the vent inside of the vehicle. The contact exit out of the vehicle and notice fire coming from underneath the front hood. The contact stated a person came with a fire extinguisher to try to put out the fire but was not successful. The fire department did arrive to the scene and extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. No one was injured. There was no warning light illuminated from the vehicle. The vehicle was not towed but left at the scene. The vehicle was not inspected, diagnosed or repaired. The contact did call local dealer ennis ford, inc. (900 i-45, ennis, tx 75119 phone: (877) 890-8768) who inform the contact to reach out to their insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated that while making a left turn at 10 mph, the check engine and throttle control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle shuddered and stalled. The vehicle was driven to the residence where it was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the engine control module (ecm) and power train control module (pcm) were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. When the turn signals were activated, the interior lighting inside the vehicle illuminated and turned off once the turn signals were deactivated.

While driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and an unusual squeaky noise emitted continuously. On separate occasions, the transmission exhibited a violent jerk. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to locate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the warning message "automatic transmission overheating " appeared on the instrument panel and the vehicle began to stall. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle for a short period. The contact stated as she restarted the vehicle, she was able to drive to her destination. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the automatic transmission system was overheating, and the thermostat needed to be replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who informed the contact that they could not provide further assistance and advised the contact to turn off the vehicle whenever the failure reoccurred so the vehicle could cool off. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

My passenger seatbelt clip broke. All on its own. Never in an accident. Nothing should of caused it. I have low miles on the car and i have had nothing but problems. This seat belt clip is going to cost me more then $300. I justbought the car a year ago. Not fair!

Driver side seat belt latch is not latching to the buckle. While putting seat belt on it disengages from the latch system completely. Several attempts to re-secure the buckle into the latch continues to allow the seat buckle to become unlatched. Extremely unsettling as while operating my vehicle knowing my seat belt comes undone at any time. Nothing is touching the buckle or latch system to cause the unbuckle at any time. Have checked by looking into the latch system to ensure no debris is inside.

Recall issued 9/16/16.no fix for the problem.since there is an increased risk of injury during a crash, the amount of time that has passed and still no corrective action to resolve is unacceptable.

I heard a poppink noise from below or underneath. Also just two days ago motor light came on. I went to dealer somerset dogde for #2 recalls one in 2017 and other 2015. They said, will call you when parts comes in . They never call me till today!

Passenger side headrest deployed while driving.

Passenger side active headrest deployed while sitting in the driveway with nobody in the vehicle. Unable to reset as the clips are broken, as can be seen in the attached photos.

The driver side seat panel keep breaking off. This makes the seat very uncomfortable to drive. It happened while i was driving. I have had the piece replaced once and it broke not too long after that.

In the summer of 2019 i started a summer job to earn a little cash for college. Around 3-4 weeks when i got the car. I went to work and arrived for 4:30 am, because i work with my mom and that is when she starts work. For me i start work at 5:00 am so i sit in the car for 30 mins just listening to music. Around that time i suddenly hear a pop noise and my head was pushed forward with a decent amount of force that i started having a headache. I looked around to see if a car had hit me, but i saw no car in motion around me at all. That's when i saw that my headrest was popped out and was confused as to why. I still continued to go to work with a headache afterwards.*dtconsumer stated headset was replaced.

This week the active head rest deployed overnight while parked in the drive on my 2014 jeep compass. After inspecting it i noticed that the plastic tabs that hold the headrest in place were broken. There is only 47000 miles meaning it is no longer under warranty and the repair is very costly. I know this is a common and dangerous problem with many jeep vehicles and this really needs to be addressed and why it hasn't already is beyond me.

Active headrest restraint system deployed while vehicle was parked in the driveway.vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight, the following day we noticed that the headrest had sprung forward.upon inspecting the headrest system i noticed that the retaining pin was still engaged in the retaining mechanism and that it had sprung because the plastic that holds the retaining pin had broken.

While sitting in my driveway, the active head restraint launched without provocation.car was not on when the ahs blew, hitting me in the head. It was later discovered that the plastic clip that is supposed to hold the headrest together was broken.i received a mild concussion, and feel grateful that i was not driving when this took place. *dt *dt *dt *dt 'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The headrest on the driver side seperated. (split as if in an accident) this would have been very dangerous if i had been driving when this happened. I was not in the car when this happened. After inspecting the headrest i noticed that a piece of plastic had broken and released the spring loaded headrest. The car was in my driveway, i found the broken headrest in the morning.

Passenger headrest deployed without provocation while sitting in a driveway.clips broken so cannot reset.

Passenger side headrest restraint deployed while the car was parked.it looks like a piece of plastic broke and it spurn apart

The active headrest on the driver's seat deployed while the car was parked and off - the plastic clips intended to hold it in place in resting position snapped and the headrest is unable to be reset. No one was in the car at the time.

Headrest popped loose without impact

While driving home from work one day i heard a loud sound like a gun. The headrest to the passenger seat just deployed on its own. Took it to my mechanic to be corrected and he said it couldn't be reset the clip or a pin must have broke. Then on wednesday july 28th i got a warning light on my dashboard pertaining to airbags. Puts fear in me because i need to know that my airbags are there for me if needed. C&h auto care is aware of the problems with my vehicle. They are located in joppa maryland.

Brakes have been squeaking from day one ,took to dealer on 03-23-15,they replace pads and turned rotorsalso did the same with rear brakes .few weeks later doing same thing and still getting louder. This occur when backing out parking place

I purchase a 2014 jeep compass in 2015..has a little over 13,000 miles on it.. I have taken to jeep dealership 3 time about the brakes.. The first time after i had it,, they kept it for 3 days..everytime you step on brakes it made a whistle sound..with that when you step on the accelerate to do it made a noise also...said they fix...so i take it in again the same sound in the brake..this time they oil it and okay...again i take it in..this time they said it was comming from back tire area..but it had something to do with brakes..they said they was doing me a favor by fixing it...now again something is wrong with my brakes..i'm am so afraid i am going to get in a accident. Its making the same noise when they kept it for 3 days...please warn other about jeep compass brakes...don't know what else to do...took 3 times, no satifaction

Every time we back up there is a loud noise that comes from the brakes. More than 5 times, my wife has asked the jeep dealer to fix it over the last 2 years. They say the same thing every time that nothing can be done and that it is a defect with the way the brakes work on this jeep model. We are frustrated to hear this noise with no way to fix it.

Since i bought this car from the dealer, all the from tires making noises when i press the break to stop, i spoke with the dealer but he don't want to help me out. Also the engine light showing up since i got the car from the dealer, the electrical system too is not working perfectly and the ac system is not too good.

Vehicle began making loud squeaking noises at 6,000 miles.i have brought it to the dealer 3 times for the issue and every time they claim it is the nature of the vehicle.there are two different squeaks: 1) when i take my foot off the pedal (seems to be from the front) and 2) when i put my car in reverse (seems to be from the back).the dealer simply insists there is nothing they can do.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off and the brakes failed. The contact's vehicle crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. When the vehicle was started and the brake was activated, the brake emitted an abnormal sound without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that condensation caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred numerous times. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass.

Squeaky brakes and acceleration problems. When i have a need for speed, the car down shifts and then accelerates is the best description i can give.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. After the vehicle was started, the abs and electronic stability control activation malfunction warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

Engine overheating, sliding turns, brakes make noise.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated while stopping at the stop sign, an abnormal noise emitted from the rear of the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the drums needed to be replaced.

Engine overheating, sliding turns, brakes make noise.

I was driving on my way home from work. It was snowing ice. I have lived in colorado my whole life and been driving in the snow since i was 16. My car was brand new when i had received it and there was no wear and tear on the car. It had taken me about twice as long to drive home because i had been driving so slow. Once i had entered my neighborhood, i took a turn, then another immediate turn going about 3 miles per hour due to road conditions. My turn was slow and wide andi hit a patch of black ice and began to glide to the opposite side of the road, about 15 feet bumping into the curb. My entire front driver-side axel had completely snapped and my rear axel had bent. Both tires were completely intact and the wheels were not effected as well. The front driver side had basically been complete snapped and torn out of the socket. It is unacceptable for this equipment to collapse and fail at such a low speed impact. I had also been denied and inspection from the service manager at the dealership that i had bought it from and had it towed to. They had also neglected to report it to the manufacturer upon our request, leaving me to report it for them. The dealership thenthreatened to move the car after the jeep corporation ordered them not to.the jeep corporation had also stated that they would inspect the vehicle as soon as they could, possible this week of 01/12/2015. I am requesting notification immediately.

While looking at vehicles on the dealer lot i noticed this vehicle had the power steering pressure hose in contact to the dash panel steel upper cross member. Since the pressure hose moves with the engine it can wear a hole in the hose and the vehicle will lose steering assist and spray fluid on the catalytic converter which was close by. This was an issue i discovered in august of 2014 while working at fca and i told the company this issue was a design safety violation of fca out standards. I was ignored. Some vehicles which had not been shipped yet were knowingly shipped with this unacceptable hose clearance condition.

The car is all over the road when driving on snow covered roads.i had the dealer change tires.it did not help!! it feels like i''m skating on ice and am white knuckled every time i approach other vehicles coming at me! i had a 2011 compass that performed spotless_what happened here?

I've had to replace all 4 bearings, the 4 wheel drive went completely out during big snow in 2016,the rutter valve had gone bad(which costs over $400., having to replace alternator, and various other things... This jeep had been nothing but a pain since i've had it and i bought it new. They are junk and the whole vehicle should be recalled.

I kept hearing a squeaky noise that i could not determine where it came from when i would pull off.i took my car to the dutchess jeep dealer and called a few times also to report but they could not find anything.then finally after my persistence, dutchess said there was a bulletin that said there was a problem.dutchess scheduled an appointment rectified but now my car squeaks while driving esp when pulling off.could this be a lemon?

2014 jeep compass. Vehicle has rust stains on it and customer feels the repairs should be paid for under warranty. *ta

Water was leaking from rear hatch onto inside of roof of car. This is second time this has happened. I have researched this problem and it seems like this is a problem with the jeep compass. I am 3000 miles over the warranty and am newly divorced with limited funds. I don't understand why there is no recall for this problem since it is ongoing!! the roof of my car is stained and now i am hoping it doesn't smell?? i need help. I just bought this car hoping it would be a great car for my daughter and i and now am second guessing myself.

On 6/19/14 we checked out a 2014 jeep compass sport. During test drive we could hear air noise. Dealer assured us it would be fixed. We signed contract, took car back for them to test to verify air noise. It was verified.they put new weather stripping on two door's windows.the "fixed" weather stripping immediately was buckling and the air noise was still there and water came in after they washed the car. Took car back and the dealer said they needed to replace weather stripping on all four doors. Took car back for repairs.the dealer said three of four windows looked o.k. He said he didn't know how the fourth one could be fixed as he didn't think adhesive could be put on adhesive, and he'd call me the next day to tell me what can be done. None of the other windows have adhesive. As of the next day the weather stripping is coming off, buckling, etc. On all four doors again even the one with some adhesive on it. Continued air noise.even right after the weather stripping was fixed there was air noise. Still no call from the dealer as of 8/19/14am calling chrysler. I have read one other complaint as mine on edmunds.

3rd times a charm 2014 jeep compassthe first time it happened to me in july or aug (4 months after i got the car) and i thought it was my fault, while parking and hitting the brake my car accelerated out of nowhere. I thought i had hit the accelerator by mistake. Thank god there was a cement thing on the floor2nd time: my sister and i around the holidays, we were in my jeep compass, also parking at the local mall this is where i knew it wasn't me but again there was a cement barricade and prevent anything bad from happening, so i thought it was a flukenow today again this happened while parking and stepping on the break out of nowhere my car accelerated this time nothing on the floor and ran into a post. Bam!! my cars hood is all messed-up and so is the bumper!!has anyone else had this issue with the accelerator? idk what to do!!!!

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. Purchased a new 2014 jeep compass, and 2 days after purchasing on my way home i set cruise control and let my foot off the pedal. When i moved my left foot closer to my seat, my shoe triggered the hood release latch. The hood popped up a few inches, and if the under hood safety wasn't there the hood could have opened completely. Same thing happened 4-5 days later, while driving down the interstate. The way the latch protrudes near the pedals is the cause for the multiple times i've accidentally triggered the hood release.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle shook violently. While driving 45-65 mph, the vehicle vibrated steadily and the check engine indicator illuminated. Informed by dealer that vehicle could not be properly aligned without replacement of both front suspension lower control arms. Vehicle has 58,334 miles on it and was showing excessive wear on front tires. Had control arms replaced, which contained sealed lower ball joints, was told by service technician that this was a know weakness in this vehicle's design/construction and common replacement procedure. Vehicle was driving/tracking fine otherwise, but was told this was a safety issue that needed to be addressed. Have never seen failure of critical suspension component on vehicle with so few miles on it.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. When the turn signals were activated, the interior lighting inside the vehicle illuminated and turned off once the turn signals were deactivated. Tire low air indicator came on and tire went flat.i looked at tire and refilled with air just above the side wall into the tread on the top side of the tire was three holes up to 1/4 and the side wall had a bubblethree inches across just about 3 inches below the three holes . The driver side headrest was in the raised position while i was in transit.i stopped at a traffic light and reached up to push the headrest down to the lower position.i pressed the slide button on the base of the headrest with one hand and pushed down on the headrest with the other hand.the headrest blew apart hitting me in the back of the head when it did so.there was no impact to my vehicle that would have caused the headrest to pop in that manner.i did not hit the headrest but pushed firmly to try and lower it to a more comfortable position.i tried to have the headrest reset and closed but was told by a service technician that the head]rest was in fact broken and needed to be replaced.

While driving the esc malfunction light came on and loss of power. Happened again and engine completely stalled and would not turn over for another five minutes.

My truck stalled out while i was driving on i-75. I tried to restart it, and it came on but the electronic stability control signal and the electronic throttle control signal was flashing. The truck wouldn't go over 20 mph, and the signals never went off.

While driving, especially when i go to speed up, my jeep sputters and almost feels like it's going to stall on me. I've taken it into the dealership that i bought it from about 3 different times. Every time they have told me they don't feel it and they cant find anything wrong with it. I don't know what else to do.

Able to remove key from ignition while jeep is in gear, car rolled at least a foot on flat ground. Twice in parking lot, once in garage -clear danger to those behind and along side of vehicle.happened three times, now use handbrake to insure no accident.

I pulled onto the highway and this strange light lit and the car seemed to be racing but not going anywhere. I pulled into the shoulder of the road, put the car in park, and the light went off. I tried going again but within 500 ft and the light came back on. Frantic i pulled into a shopping mall and pulled out the car's manual. I found out that it was the electronic throttle body light. I made the trip home and the next day took the car to my mechanic. The mechanic scanned the check engine light and replaced the faulty throttle body. My car is a 2014 jeep compass latitude with 52,363 miles. I was charged $556.54 to fix my not yet 5 year old car!

Takada recall, my jeep will randomly turn off while stopped but with the key in the on position and i have to put it in park and restart it , it has mainly happened at red lights

State line dodge chrysler jeep dealer #45636/45636

I was driving 35mh when passenger side headrest deployed forward for no reason. Now i am very worried the driver's side could deploy forward while driving and resulting in an accident.

The vehicles may experience loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in certain crash events due to a pretensioner deployment capability in certain crash events due to a shorting condition resulting in a negative voltage transient that travels to the occupant restraint controller via front impact sensor wires.

No parts to fix recall for last 2 years

My car has a recall. I take my car to the dealership to fix the problem. But still the same problem from the same recall 2 or 3 times already. My car has been taking care in the dealership with not cost . But my big concern is why the same problem for the recall is coming back over and over. I also lost time when i take my car to the dealership even a full week. With no transportation and also always worry to go back again with the same issue . Is anyone can help me with this problem. Thank you

My car which is automatic , while driving all of sudden i feel it has shifted gear. Like while driving in normal (d) mode ii feel the gear has shifted to neutral (n) or as if i am driving steep uphill at the speed of 60 miles and engine slows down the speed and makes very loud noise. I have read online over 100 people have posted same issues. I took the issue to jeep dealer in paramus nj , they charged me $400 to check and told me go home there is nothing wrong. Wow ! ( fyi, i have put the date of 1/1/18 but this has been happening for over a year and it happens often ) i just don't have money to fight and get this issue sorted out. There is something horribly wrong how jeep's are made, bring me back to the days when american's car had bad reputation and the same issue is coming back. Profits over safety must be the motto of chrysler corp. What a shame

I have taken this car 3 times to the dealer and now it is going on the 4th time to fix a squeaky sound.i am tired of returning.it needsto be fixed and by the way after 4 times i do believe it is considered a new car lemon.

Gas pedal stuck

As i was driving yesterday my vehicle just randomly stalled out on me and after searching i find that this was an issue that lead to a recall.my vehicle at times will shutter/hesitate or whatever you want to call it which is also described in the recall.i don't believe this issue was properly resolved when the previous owner supposedly had it fixed

Car does not want to go over 20 can push on the gas and will not go faster

Upon driving on a busy highway, my car came to a sudden stop causing traffic to shutter around me and my now 60mph car jerked to a 20mph speed. This was unsafe and now the car will not move above 20mph. Thousands of people are mentioning this online and someone needs to take note!

While driving, the engine loses power and throttle control, traction control, and check engine lights came on. Vehicle goes into "limp" mode and won't accelerate above 10-15 mph. This seems to be a recurring problem with this vehicle, but there isn't a recall. This is a major safety hazard.

2014 jeep compass lost sudden speed on interstate. Couldn't accelerate over 20mph. 4x4, 'lightening bolt' , traction control and engine lights all on. Extremely dangerous when traveling in high speed traffic. Was almost hit by a transfer truck.

Car shudders when slowing down and seems to want shut off when driving a this happens when the vehicle is in motion in the highway and rush hour time. I took it to the dealer they said i need an electronic throttle body and gasket. The next day after they accessed my i received a red lightening bolt signal and the car stalled then it started back up with a jerking and shuddering in the street. I was able to cruise into my jobs parking lot at this moment the car us still there i have contacted chrysler and they have opened a case number but have to get back to me on their assessment. So i'm out of car to get to work my boss after working 12 hours offered to take me home now i have to get an uber or lyft to and from work

Squeaky brakes and acceleration problems. When i have a need for speed, the car down shifts and then accelerates is the best description i can give.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated that the vehicle failed tostart and the key hesitated to turn to the on position. The oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that when the vehicle did start, it did not accelerate over 5 mph for the first mile driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. ....updated 01/13/16 the consumer stated the problem is still occurring. Updated 1/22/16.

Throttle control system, had a previous recall

Etc lights comes in and the car the looses power. It goes limp and wants to stall. It loses control over the throttle.

The connection from the gas to the throttle appears to be failing. The car will stay on while driving but will no longer accelerate or will randomly accelerate. After it happens, the throttle light and check engine light will come on.

Multiple issues with throttle body resulting in a loss of power and control of vehicle. Back in 2017, i had an issue with the car jerking, cutting out, and losing power. Took car to a jeep dealership and throttle body had to be replaced. Again during the summer of 2020, vehicle started losing ability to consistently accelerate. Car began jerking, cutting out, and losing power on the roads and highway. The vehicle throttle light, stability traction control, and engine light illuminated. Dealership confirmed throttle needs to be replaced again. Reported to jeep corporate office with no resolution. Severe safety issue. Jeep doesn't care and is claiming no responsibility until a recall has to be issued.

2014 jeep compass sputters and jerks, difficulty accelerating, the engine light randomly came on along with the electronic throttle light. Unable to accelerate above 45 or 50 mph..only gain speed when going downhill!

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated from 60 mph to 5 mph in the middle of an interstate. The contact was able to exit the interstate onto a smaller road where the vehicle was towed. Chrysler, jeep west valley in reseda, california diagnosed that the throttle body control was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the vehicle was out of the mileage warranty coverage of 30,000. The manufacturer stated that nothing could be done. The failure mileage was approximately 53,900.

Cruise control did not disengage in adangerous situation.cruise control was on going down i-20interstate near shrevport louisana,,, coming around a curve i noticedall traffic had stopped, both lanes due to some type construction and as i tried to brake,,,the cruise control would not disengage with my emergency braking ,,,i had to go into the side ditch and finally put the transmission in neutral to stop !extremely dangerous in which myself and wife could have been easily killed.!later,on checking the internet to see if this was a condition other jeep compass owners had had,,,,i found 'recalls'on otherjeep products ' notifying other jeep owners of jeep cherokee, jeepgrand cherokee, and jeep wranglers'specifically with problems of jeep cruise controls not disengaging' ,,,,but no recalls on jeep compass',,,, whichi had just had that sameextremely dangerous situation happen !(i was going highway speed at 70 mph when i hit my brakes trying to stop in an emergency situation and i could not overcome the stuck cruise control to stop and had to take evasive action leaving the highway to theditch at 70 mph and still wouldn't stop till iplaced the auto in neutral and allowed me to stop )

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle accelerated rapidly. As a result, the contact crashed into a sign. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the body repairs were performed; however; the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,000.

This car i bought on 9-/14/2019 had an open recall on it for a catalytic converter and was told it was completed. I now find out it is not and the car will not ho over 20mph. I have an appt with the dealer who is over 30 miles via interstate and it has to be towed i dont have tow insurance and it will cost over200 to get it there will i be reimbursed.

While driving on the interstate at 70 miles per hour my jeep compass loss power. The engine light, etc light esc light all came on as i was driving. This in turn immediately dropped my speed down to 20 miles per hour.

All steering wheel electronics don't work including the horn

Last year i had to pay for a new throttle and now my airbag sensor light will not go out on a city street.

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently. There was no warning light illuminated. Brakes have been squeaking from day one ,took to dealer on 03-23-15,they replace pads and turned rotorsalso did the same with rear brakes .few weeks later doing same thing and still getting louder. This occur when backing out parking place

The contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. The contact statedwhile driving approximately 70 mph the windshield wiper mechanism would not function when the lever was pushed down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and the technician stated the knob had to be turned in order to activate the windshield wiper. Light system turns on by them selves. Inside lights turn on by themselves wipers turn on by themselves took it to a mechanic they said it's the main control module that's faulty it should be undera recall bc he has seen this problem a few times

While driving, especially when i go to speed up, my jeep sputters and almost feels like it's going to stall on me. I've taken it into the dealership that i bought it from about 3 different times. Every time they have told me they don't feel it and they cant find anything wrong with it. I don't know what else to do.

Tire low air indicator came on and tire went flat.i looked at tire and refilled with air just above the side wall into the tread on the top side of the tire was three holes up to 1/4 and the side wall had a bubblethree inches across just about 3 inches below the three holes . I hit nothing and did not damage the sidewall.the dealer auto nation in spring tx acted like a 3rd grader shrugged his shoulders and said take it to a firestone dealer.

I bought this 2014 compass in december 2019 the tread on the vehicle's goodyear eagle ls 2 tires ( 205/70r/16 looked good but from the moment i bought it i was constantly putting air in both tires on the drivers side. I bought the compass as is from the dealership so of course they would check them and repair any leaks or whatnot but for a ridiculous price which i cannot afford. I do have a warranty that i bought but covers very little, even have to pay for the gallon of gas if i run out because it only covers the call out to bring me a gallon. Any who, i cannot afford new tires or the amount to have a place to look at them, so i was very anal about checking my tires like a crackhead looking for change on the ground. I woke up one morning to see that my front driver side tire was completely flat so i aired it up at the house and proceeded to check for leaks with the ol soapy h2o and found a small leak on the inside wall of the tire, i checked to see about replacing it and after i finished hyperventilating at the price, which btw was more than my car note, i put fix a flat in it to temporarily fix the issue so that i could save up to replace 1 single tire instead of selling my kidney on the dark web. Welp as soon as i got that done the back tire decided to be a jerk and keep deflating everyday. Got the soapy h2o and found nothing just likes to go flat. I started looking at the tires so that i could see how long it would take me to sell a kidney in order to replace 2 tires now and i noticed that all 4 tires have multiple bubbles on the outside side walls. Took each tire off checking for separation of belts and yep it's not rocket appliance, all 4 tires are bubbling. Yet i'm sure just by seeing the manufacturer's replies( there aren't any) and the fact that i always get the poop end of the stick that i will be selling my kids kidney's too just to buy 4 new tires.
