Since no remedy is available, what am i to do?? i must have transportation.how many deaths must occur before fca makes a cash settlement so i can replace my car? how long must american consumers be at risk for the lives of passengers? fca is legally responsible.i cannot afford to keep renting a vehicle.

Very hot day in southern california.driving north of i-15 freeway.for the first time since i owned the car (original owner) i placed the a/c blower control swith in position 4 (max position).after a few seconds smoke began to billow out of the opening of the blower control knob.once noticed, it got progressively worse to the point that i had to turn off the a/c and navigate four full speed lanes of traffic to pull over in case of fire spread.once safely on shoulder, turned car off, evacuated car and waited until smoke cleared.once clear, restarted car and after minutes of no issues with a/c off, proceeded home.once home did a little research on internet to find out that many chrysler / jeep owners have had this issue.seemed to indicate that many had a similar issue.the following morning i pulled my car into the street and started the car and tested the blower switch based on what i had read the night before. Much to my surprise, the switch worked in all positions except position 4 which now had apparently burned out - without ever causing the fuse to blow.my dashboard smoked, causing a serious and immediate high speed driving hazard, coupled with the potential for a vehicle fire, and the fuse had never blown.as of this writing, the switch has still not been replaced, since after three attempts to have jeep look at the problem without charging me for the diagnostics, they refused.i am hesitant to have the panel/switch fixed until i have some assurance that this could not happen again, since it is highly unusual to have this type of failure occur without the key safety component (fuse) not working properly.please consider a thorough investigation before there is loss of life/property due to a flawed circuit design.

The car had been sitting parked for 2 hours. No key in ignition. Looked out and saw fire coming out of the rear of the car.lighting fixture was complete burned out as well as everything else ove to where the gas tank spout is.fire dept came.filled out a report .the head lights and other lights inside car kept coming on intermittently even after the fire was out.there was no key in ignition and the car had been sitting parked for 2 hours.
Wireless control module (wireless module-received) went again for the 2nd time.when this happens - keyless entry does not work. When key is removed from the car and the door opens, car chimes like the key is still in the ignition, and am unable to lock the doors with the button from the inside. I must push each door lock down, and there is no way to lock my trunk. This poses a serious safety concern, especially if being followed and now being able to enter my car in a fast manner and lock the doors with one switch.purchased the vehicle in july of 2010. Replaced once on december 6, 2013. Now have another appointment to have it replaced again on july 25, 2017.

Car stalls after fill up, no other time.i do not over fill.after leaving the gas pump, the car "bucks" and then stalls one or two times while in traffic as i try to leave a traffic light or drive in the traffic. Car is in motion when this happens on city streets. Started in 2017 and continues to today.

The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the intake manifold sensor actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Car randomly shuts off while driving. Started with no known cause then it started doing this after fueling the car. Have seen that it is a well known problem with jeep compass, and other models like the compass.
First of all, this is one of the most common complaints of the entire jeep compass line and it still has not been recalled. My jeep compass 2010 stalls randomly when i drive and is a major hazard. 2 mechanics including a local dealer are unable to diagnose the problem (which is a common theme in all of complaints regarding the jeep compass). It has almost caused an accident several times with me (another common theme) and it may eventually take a death for it to be on the radar for an actual recall. It has happened in the driveway driving 5mph or on the highway driving 70mph. It is extremely frightening. There is no warning sign. The car drives incredibly well when it is not stalling. Shame on the nhtsa for not recalling this yet. I will never purchase a jeep again since there is no support from their end or even from the national service here. I got scared the last time it stalled and jammed my finger on the steering wheel to steer it to the shoulder on a highway driving 70mph!the car had about 84k miles on it, but the stalling happens on even the newer models with less than 2,000 miles driven!!
Filled my gas tank at the gas station before getting onto the highway. Car stalled and turned off merging onto the highway about a mile down the road. Lost control of breaks and steering. No warning lit up on dash. Googled and found out many others have this issue. This is dangerous and i was almost killed, something needs to be done.

When it rains and the vehicle is stationary there is no obvious sign of a leak however when driving after the rain a steady stream of water comes out of the map light. It flows on to the radio and heater controls. I am very good about keeping a paper towel handy to absorb as much as possible. Unfortunately i now have an extremely wet carpet that is molding. Jeep states that i should clean the drains for the sunroof, which i do quite often. They also state that the vehicle is not under warranty and they can not offer a fix with out charging me. I have had this vehicle for just over a year and i purchased it from a jeep dealer.
I have a 2010 jeep compass limited by chrysler and i have not seen a recall for this suv because of the gas tank being exposed. All you have to do is bend over and look under the rear bumper and see how close the gas tank is. You can see the full gas tank from 3 feet away from the vehicle.i'm wondering why it isn't being recalled now with all the other cars with gas tanks that might have a fire if the car is rear ended. I'm also having problems with the ignition switch and having a hard time getting my key in and out of it to start my car or to shut it off. I hope my car will be added to the list of recall or buy back deal. They recalled 2009's for this problem but my suv is a 2010 and chrysler doesn't seem to want to recall jeeps ofthis year.updated 10/07/15*ljupdated 12/11/217
After purchasing my new/used compass from a dealer in town i went to fill the gas tank up. Not really a problem this time filling the tank but upon stating the vehicle it started to stall shake , spit, and sputter down the road after only about a 1/10 of a mile. During this time of stall the steering became almost impossible to turn while driving towards oncoming traffic . This wasnt the only time it done this ....no every time i go to fill up the tank with gas it does the same thing and acts the same way it straightens up after running a few miles (if it stays running ) or restarting the engine. Lately it takes me about a half an hour to fill the tank because the pump shuts off like it is about to over-spill except the tank is empty and it isn't the pump because it does this at every gas station i come to now.the safety factor here is the stalling while in motion without warning loosing control of where my car is going is a safety hazard and this needs to be address before a head on collision
I just filled up my car and about 1 mile from my home the car stalled out while making a turn. I was driving at about 15 mph in the city. I almost crashed the car because the steering wheel locked up and i needed an enormous amount of pressure on the brake pedal to stop my car.
Manual transmission car was revving high after shifting gears. Rpms were approximately 4000 once shifted into second gear going 20 mph. Called dealership to schedule an appointment for the following week. The next day in the highway the car had no power. Would only be able to go 40mph in a 65 in 5th gear. It was a 20 minute drive to work. On the way home on the highway, the same issue with lack of power. 5 minutes into the ride i heard a pop and lost all power to the car. Was able to get to the side of the highway. Got my insurance paper out of the car to call a tow truck and got out of the car. Had my back to the car and turned around and the car was engulfed in flames. Fire department had to came to put the fire out. The car is totaled.
Initial indication was a check engine error.mechanic troubleshot and determined error related to fuel system.removed replaced suspected faulty gas cap and error cleared.within 62 miles across 19 days, the check engine error re-appeared.mechanic troubleshot and found fuel system error again.mechanic probed the fuel system and found that there was a fuel leak and fuel breach/puddling due to corrosion on the fuel pump.mechanic removed & replaced the fuel pump to correct the leak and the check engine error message.

Every time i fill my jeep up it starts jerking then completely quits. I restart my jeep and start to pull out onto the street and/or highway it still jerks for the first few seconds then quits. I had a engine diagnostic test and had to replace the canister costing me $248.00 not counting labor cost. This has been an issues for the last seven months to date, the jerking and shutting off of my jeep
Car stalls after you fill up the gas tank and drive away from the gas station.if you come to stop and/oridol within 5 minutes of filling up your car tank or coasting along it will stall.
Purchased in 2017,4 months later put close to $4000.00 in suspension and fuel filler tube due to extreme rusting. Now on april 15, 2019 took it in for oil change and was written on paper but not told to me. I just was going through the papers today because the bbb said they can't handle my problem. Mdh 0826xx is a safety bulletin that extended the coverage for this problem. I still owe on this and the dealer should be held accountable for all of these parts i paid for some already but this i won't pay for. Why isn't randy wise chyrsler responsible? all these safety things should have been fixed before they sold it with terrible safety defects that they were aware of. You can't do all the suspension work they did and not notice a rotten cradle!!! i am more upset nowthan i can even say. I'm a 69 year old woman with a 72 yr old disabled husband!!
Speed control device not responding. Just purchased the vehicle!!!also i have been infomed from a diagnosed trouble code with the following code: p0700.shifting problem..slipping ( free wheeling).
"tamara recall"where i took my car they said they could not find what was causing the car to hesitate are transmission slipping. This happen when the car warms up and does it until you reach about 50 miles a hour. The mechanic clean transmission screens and change fluids. Still did not correct the problem.

The contact owned a 2010 jeep compass. While driving 25 mph, another vehicle turned left without yielding the right of way. As a result, the contact slammed on the brake pedal and rear ended the other vehicle. The driver's seat belt failed to engage and all the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained minor injuries and burns to the left arm, which did not require medical attention. The vehicle was able to be driven to the side of the road and was towed to a lot. The vehicle was later deemed destroyed. The windshield, passenger side headlight, and driver's door were damaged. The contact mentioned that in 2017, the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall at the faricy boys chrysler jeep (4950 new car dr, colorado springs, co 80923, (855) 846-8666). The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The head rest on the passenger's seat deployed while setting in a grocery store parking lot in great bend, ks. The passenger was struck in the back of the head with no injury. This happened on 7/25/17 at about 10:30 a.m. The car was in park with the air-conditioner running. There was no impact to the vehicle. I had diagnostics run on the vehicle by marmie motors in great bend, ks.
Abs light turned on and stayed on.i have a jeep compass 2010 and during the first 28,000 miles the abs light turned on. Talking with several owners of jeep compass and dodge caliber noticed that those guys had the same problem. Currently my compass has 42,000 miles and still have the same problem. Is this a recall for warranty or repair by the warranty or i havehas to pay for this.
My husband's car (2010 jeep compass) stopped suddenly for no reason while i was going about 40-45mph sunday 8/23. Even though i was wearing a seat belt, i was thrown forward out of my seat very hard. By the end of the day i was in so much pain i ended up seeking urgent care, where i found i have whiplash and sprained back and hand/thumb (which was forced backwards) and am now getting physical therapy for it. A few weeks ago, the warning lights for the antilock brakes, 4 wheel drive and traction control started flashing. We took it to the waldorf md jeep dealer. They were too busy to work on it right away but said "it's not a safety problem. It's safe to drive". Last week, it began decelerating unexpectedly at about 25mph, so on thursday night, 8/19, we took it and dropped it off overnight at a larger dealer- ourisman jeep in bowie, md. On friday 8/20 ourisman said that the back tires didn't match the front tires (the back tires were new and front tires had a little wear, but were same brand and size, although different model), and all we needed to do was get new matching tires for the front to match the back. We did that the very next morning (saturday, 8/22) . On sunday morning, 8/23, in spite of the brand new tires that were supposed to fix the problem,i was nearly thrown through the windshield when the car suddenly stopped. We complained to ourisman's, service manager (the dealer who had told us that all we needed was new tires) about it, and the service manager still insisted that the tires were the problem, even though now all tires matched when it stopped.if i had been going to work on my 65mph route i could have been killed! as it is, i am in a lot of pain with my neck, back and hand.
I've owned a 2010 jeep compass for two years now. I use it as a work vehicle. Recently it started making a very rough sounding noise going down the road. It would be deep and disgruntled and then high pitched almost whistling. I took it to a mechanic and they said the front subframe is rusted so bad it's unsafe to drive. So i started looking into the issue online and there are dozens and dozens of other jeep owners complaining about the same issue with their jeeps.and to make it all worse jeep seems to want to do nothing about it. It's unsafe and it's going to get someone severely hurt or killed.
2010 jeep compass has front end problems that are non-fixable. Car doesn't hold an alignment (4 sets of front tires in 3 years), had total front end control arms, including joints, replaced. Need tire replacement now for outer wear. Car vibrates around 40 mph and gets worst at higher speeds. Was told by two different mechanics that this is the norm and the compass front end and steering is bad. This vehicle also has the gas tank below the bumper and gets lower if you fill with gas. Known hazard but no recall or buy back.
The contact owns a 2010 jeep compass. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the tie rod end, the booster, and struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Took vehicle to mechanic for inspection.i was informed that one of the front balljoints and tie rod was bad. This vehicle has never been used off road!i have been on a number of jeep forums and it's apparent that the ball joints have been a big problem with these vehicles.i guess they are waiting for a serius accident accident and some one gets seriously hurt or worse killed before they make a recall like they did with the jeep liberty's!
The steering wheel is shaking after driving around 40 miles. Have had the car realigned and bought several new tired get this problem still occurs. The horn goes off in its own whether driving or stationary, and without anyone pressing on the horn. The check engine light stats on even after taken to be serviced. This has occurred for several months.
The vehicle was hit on left front door and front quarter panel propelling it into a parking lot over a curb. The left front tire blew upon impact. The vehicle was repaired by a chrysler/jeep dealership.after the vehicle was fixed several people got sick in the car or just after exiting the car.this lasted for six thousand miles over three months period of time.i purchased a carbon monoxide tester because how many people got sick.it went off on the third day of it being in the vehicle. Another chrysler dealership inspected the vehicle and found an exhaust leak that was over looked by the first dealership when they repaired the vehicle after the accident.the insurance company came and re-inspected the car and paid for the overlooked exhaust leak damage.the insurance company estimator said the front left door was not closing properly and needed adjusting.the left door along with both upper and lower hinges were replaced right after the accident.the first dealership that originally repaired the car after the accident then inspected the vehicle and found the door needed more than adjusting.they had to replace the driver lower hinge as they said it was a "defective".they said it was covered under the "warranty". The door was making popping sounds. The whole door would drop down upon opening it. The defective hinge tweaked the door so that at the bottom of the door there was a gap.the rubber weather seal also came loose as well after the accident. The weather strip clips would not hold it around the door properly. At the top of the door with the defective hinge it looked as though it was closed.the bottom of the door was not closed all the way. I believe this gap at the bottom of the door was the entry point for the carbon monoxide to enter the vehicle causing multiple persons to become ill that were not in the vehicle when the accident took place.
My 2010 jeep compass was taken in for an inspection today. It failed for lower front subframe being totally rusted out. This is unacceptable for a 10 year old vehicle and very unsafe!
The car leaks thru the overhead lights during rain/storms which causes the water to come onto the shift control column causing major distraction while driving. In addition, the water leakage also runs along the driver sidebar, and pools on the drivers floorboard and the seat immediately aft. This is a safety hazard when water is pouring out of the overhear dome lights onto the shifter/driver while driving. Rain comes in be it stationary or driving. This has been a constant problem since we have owned this car. We have repaired/replaced the sunroof, new windshield...nothing works. This car is a safety hazard, i don't allow any members of my family to drive it any longer.
My jeep did not pass inspection today.the underbody is totally rioted away from frame, this should not happen to a 2010 vehicle, i want to know if jeep will recall or fix this problem . I did not spend 17,000 on a 7 year old vehicle for it to have a rotted frame , i'm very in happy with jeep right now
The car had been sitting parked for 2 hours.
I took my wifes 2010 jeep compass to the garage for inspection and the mechanic told me that the front subframe is rusted through so badly that he can fit his fist through one of the holes.i contacted jeep multiple times and they refuse to talk to me about this safety issue.the vehicle is only 7 years old, complete rusting through should not be happening.
Front crossmember was found to be corroded. Along with the crossmember being corroded, the links, and arms attached to the crossmembers were also found to be corroded. There is an "extended warranty" that was issued by fca for the crossmembers only. My vehicle was taken for repair at a jeep dealership and the front crossmember was replaced only under the warranty. The passenger side lower control arm was also rusted out and broken during the repair as well as the links to the front crossmembers which broke when they were removing the warranty part. However, these parts were not covered under warranty, costing me over $200 to replace so far. An alignment was completed on the vehicle, but when it was picked up from the dealership it was pulling severely. An appointment was scheduled to take the vehicle back for alignment to be redone and found that the rearcrossmembers were also corroded as well as the links and control arms in the rear. Vehicle sounds as if something could break every time a bump is hit, pulls significantly, and is concerning to drive, but i have been told that it is safe to drive. I do not feel safe, but i have been told by fca that the mechanic at the dealership knows more than i do even though they couldn't see the obviously corroded parts. I imagine that it will cost another couple of hundred dollars to replace the additional parts needed to fix the rear crossmember warranty. While i am grateful that fca has issued an extended warranty. The warranty is not inclusive of the entire problem and the parts are not being repaired i am being told until they have holes corroded through them. This does not make sense to me as i feel human safety should be priority! this does not appear to be the case. My other concern is that there is aso a warranty on this vehicle regarding the airbag and seatbelt which was issued several months ago with no repair.
Rusted subframe. Recalled in some states considered salt belt states but not nebraska, why not? this is horrible. Nothing else is so rusty it is crumbling like the subframe.
I brought my vehicle a 2010 jeep compass to bodwells jeep in brunswick maine last year to have the crossmembers inspected. There is an extended warranty on this vehicle for 10 years. Last year they told me that it was in perfect shape and now this year the crossmembers are so rusted through that there is a giant hole. They don't want to fix it for free and my car will not pass inspection.
The contact owns a 2010 jeep compass. The contact stated that the front subframe of the vehicle was rusted and split in half. The dealer (ramey chrysler dodge jeep ram, 27992 gov g c peery hwy, north tazewell, va 24630 (276) 988-6526) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was only included in a seat belt recall. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist; however, the contact heard a message about the rust failure when she was placed on hold. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, he noticed a squeaking noise coming from the front and rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that all the suspension components would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
The ball joint on the jeep has had to be replaced 2 times on the left. One time at 42,000 miles. The second time at 85,000 miles. Also the right sided ball joint and control arm had to be replaced. Failure of these components can lead to the wheel coming off and wrecks. Information on the internet and the mechanics i have spoken with say they have never seen these parts wear out as frequently as they are in this compass and there should be a recall.
The contact owns a 2010 jeep compass. The contact noticed that the inside of the tire tread was prematurely worn. The contact took his vehicle to a tire shop mechanic and was advised that the lower front control arm and ball joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.updated 8/11/14

The car is making a sound so loud that to talk you have to talk very loud and the radio to hear have turn it up loud.we thought it was in the tire and we bought new tires and it is still making that sound.the car dealer could not find anything wrong.so i am asking you about this problem. It only happens when driving
The vehicle keep on honking on it own. We took the vehicle to the dealership which the diagnosed and repaired the problem but the vehicle from time keeps honking. We took it back to the dealership they say there's no code showing up for the and it never went off while there.
Car randomly shuts off while in motion. Will restart after shut off. Has does this many times . This has been happening for quite some time. Looked it up and it's a common problem that needs to be addressed.

The jeep compass 2010 powertrain control module (pcm) failed resulting in the jeep to be inoperable. Because the jeep was parked in a driveway no accident occurred.if this key module is prone to failure and the jeep is on the road the driver would lose control of the vehicle.

Occupant restraint controller been waiting since 2016 september called 10 times and no parts i betternot get in an accident and i have an injury.
Jeep compass has just over 61,000 miles, when turning to go up my driveway the control arm fell to the ground. I had to purchase new vehicle as this was unsafe to drive. The service department at lia jeep of northampton reported to me that i would keep continuing having other problems with underneath the car even if repaired as it was so bad. This is why i chose to get new vehicle. Metro jeep of chicopee, ma took is as a trade and will be towed there today. 10/4/19i was very thankful that this did not happen at high rate of speed or i may not be typing this right now.
The contact owns a 2010 jeep compass. While driving approximately 2 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and drove over a curb. As a result, the contact crashed into a pole. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained a minor injury from the seat belt, but did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.
I have been driving my vehicle for almost a year now it and it seems like the clutch pedal is binding, the pedal depresses when i'm driving but feels like it has some kind of resistance. I'm not sure if it may be an underlying issue or not but this is best how it can be described.
Speed control device not responding. Just purchased the vehicle!!!also i have been infomed from a diagnosed trouble code with the following code: p0700.shifting problem..slipping ( free wheeling).

My son has a 2010 jeep wrangler and was sent a recall reimbursement letter for "front brake caliper hoses and both wheel speed sensors".i own a 2010 jeep compass that needed replacements for both front speed sensors.vehicle sensor alerted me while driving in both instances.i had dealer replace the first one and less then two months before second speed sensor needed to be replaced.are these speed sensors commonly needing repair/replacement?
